- 0:00Speaker 1: It's more Mark Simone on seven ten w u R.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well, let's talk to Ladan himself. Ed Rollins, the best
- 0:12Speaker 2: political analyst out there. Nobody's run more campaigns, worked in
- 0:15Speaker 2: more white houses, and great to add him with us,
- 0:18Speaker 2: Ed Rollins, how you doing good?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Wanting? Mark? Are you here?
- 0:21Speaker 2: I'm good? So hey. Bruce Blakeman will be nominated tomorrow
- 0:25Speaker 2: as the Republican candidate for governor. Big endorsement today from
- 0:29Speaker 2: the New York Post. But how easy? How tough is
- 0:31Speaker 2: it for a Republican to win the governor's race in
- 0:34Speaker 2: New York?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Now, well, it's tough. But Bruce is a great candidate,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and in my senses, he comes from the right area
- 0:40Speaker 1: of the state. He's got a great record, He's as
- 0:43Speaker 1: stronger candidate as we could have in New York. We
- 0:46Speaker 1: have I think we're a very weak mayor. I mean
- 0:49Speaker 1: we're not mayor big governor. Yeah, So, I you know,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I don't think at this point in time you can
- 0:54Speaker 1: see to the past history, what's going to happen here?
- 0:57Speaker 1: So can he can he raise the money? Can he
- 0:59Speaker 1: campaign effect les? So I think that put race is
- 1:03Speaker 1: still to watch very closely.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Now you've been in this game a while. How did
- 1:07Speaker 2: we get to this world where you could have the
- 1:08Speaker 2: worst record in the world, you absolutely stink like Gavin
- 1:11Speaker 2: Newsom or whoever, and you can run again. How does
- 1:15Speaker 2: this happen nowadays?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Well, there's so much clutter in the media today that
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's hard to people make so many impressions that are
- 1:27Speaker 1: out there. It's like the president of president's got so
- 1:29Speaker 1: much going on, but it's hard to focus on two
- 1:32Speaker 1: or three things. And in a campaign like this, you
- 1:35Speaker 1: need a campaign on a few things. You've got to say,
- 1:37Speaker 1: here's what she's done that basically have affected your life badly,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and keep hammering on that issue, don't talk about thirty
- 1:44Speaker 1: five issues. And the same way the Democrats. Democrats keep
- 1:47Speaker 1: talking about we've got to have all these policy papers
- 1:49Speaker 1: and what have you. At at the end of the day,
- 1:51Speaker 1: policy papers are not going to be any for them. What's
- 1:53Speaker 1: going to do something that is they're going to make
- 1:55Speaker 1: their case against against the president of the president's party.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And as far as the president, too much, too much clutter,
- 2:01Speaker 1: too much media.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, the economy, if you look at the actual numbers,
- 2:05Speaker 2: the math, the economy is doing well. It's headed in
- 2:08Speaker 2: the right direction. Everything's good. But what does the president
- 2:11Speaker 2: need to do to get better messaging about that?
- 2:14Speaker 1: Well, he needs he needs to basically focus himself on
- 2:16Speaker 1: the message. You know, he sees the one driving the message.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And all the foreign policy stuff that he's doing certainly
- 2:23Speaker 1: may be important, but it's not important to the voters
- 2:26Speaker 1: out there that are basically worrying about healthcare and worrying
- 2:29Speaker 1: about food prices and housing prices, what have you. So
- 2:33Speaker 1: I would argue that now that we're in the in
- 2:35Speaker 1: the actual election year, the president needs to spend his
- 2:38Speaker 1: time and energy on these issues at matative voters. He's
- 2:41Speaker 1: got strong polsters, get the posters, give them three or
- 2:45Speaker 1: four things he should be talking about, and talk about
- 2:46Speaker 1: those things. You know. I think the key thing here is,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, there's there's a lot of crisises in the world,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and the president wants to solve those crisises, and it's
- 2:55Speaker 1: done a pretty effective job and all that, but most
- 2:57Speaker 1: people out there aren't worried about and as much as
- 3:00Speaker 1: they're worried about, you know, what's happening in Westchester County
- 3:04Speaker 1: or Suffolk County or across the country.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Well, that's interesting what you said about clutter. But as
- 3:11Speaker 2: President Trump doing a great job, but he's the king
- 3:13Speaker 2: of clutter. If you watch a press conference of speech
- 3:16Speaker 2: and there's four thousand things he's working on at once.
- 3:18Speaker 2: So and you can't cure him with that, can you.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That's always the way you.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Can't cure him that. One of the concerns I have
- 3:25Speaker 1: is having another White House political director and have one
- 3:27Speaker 1: Congressional committee. The intent now is to put him out
- 3:32Speaker 1: and have him campaign and try and drive out the
- 3:34Speaker 1: vote to only votes when he's on the pallet. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: would just argue, the more you move around the country,
- 3:40Speaker 1: the less likely he can stay on message. And you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: he needs to stay in the White House. He needs
- 3:47Speaker 1: to go out maybe ten or twenty times. He told
- 3:49Speaker 1: him in the campaign, but if they have him out
- 3:52Speaker 1: there three or four days a week, you know he
- 3:55Speaker 1: likes the campaign, but at the end of the day,
- 3:57Speaker 1: you've got priority messages going out. Needs to stay in
- 4:00Speaker 1: that White House, hit hit the big message places, uh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and and be very consistent and quit in selfing people.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You know, he needs to quit making cracks about his opponents.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Uh uh. You know, Joe Biden's gone. But we'll die
- 4:14Speaker 1: on the beach Uh. You know what, at the end
- 4:17Speaker 1: of the day, we you can't blame everything on him
- 4:20Speaker 1: at this point in time, because nobody's gonna listen. This
- 4:23Speaker 1: is Trump's administration. His biggest problem. Has got a very
- 4:26Speaker 1: narrow majority of the House. Uh, and it does that
- 4:29Speaker 1: the Senate doesn't have anything. So yeah, you know, to
- 4:33Speaker 1: two seats to you know, this week, he's got a
- 4:35Speaker 1: two seat margin. He's got to get every member there
- 4:37Speaker 1: voting for him on these issues. And we now have
- 4:39Speaker 1: a big ice debate on on funding and that's very important. Uh.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You know, you drive this Congress through, uh through a
- 4:49Speaker 1: budget fight for another two or three weeks. Here again,
- 4:52Speaker 1: people are distracted, People want want order.
- 4:56Speaker 2: But you know, there's this whole anti ice feeling of Democrats.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But you know, November is a long way away. Democrats
- 5:02Speaker 2: always overplay their hand. They always go too far. Don't
- 5:05Speaker 2: you think they'll do that this time? By by election time?
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see. You know, we don't have
- 5:12Speaker 1: we don't have a full year. You know, the reality
- 5:14Speaker 1: is three or four months from now, these campaigns got
- 5:17Speaker 1: to be running a hundred hundred degrees forward and the
- 5:22Speaker 1: Congress is not gonna want to go back here, You've
- 5:24Speaker 1: got forty four members Congress that are Democrats have targeted
- 5:31Speaker 1: forty four. Those forty four guys and gals are going
- 5:34Speaker 1: to have to be home worrying about what their constituous
- 5:36Speaker 1: are saying. And if you're dragged here to fight these
- 5:39Speaker 1: stupid battles, we're not going to win. Uh. You know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: at the end of the day, people will get frustrated.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying is my argument is we
- 5:49Speaker 1: don't we don't have a year. Time flies very quickly.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Here's going to be big, expensive races, and you got
- 5:55Speaker 1: to you gotta be focusing on everything that rights to
- 5:59Speaker 1: district right now.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, look at some of these congress people now, from
- 6:03Speaker 2: King Jeffries to elon Omar to AOC to Jasmine Crocker.
- 6:08Speaker 2: These are some real low IQ people. Did you ever
- 6:10Speaker 2: see that before where we had those type of people coming.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Well, no, but they're in pretty safe districts though, so
- 6:17Speaker 1: they can they can do and say what they want.
- 6:20Speaker 1: You know, the key thing here is we don't have
- 6:23Speaker 1: there'd be a lot of seats. They'll talk about being competitive,
- 6:26Speaker 1: It won't be competitive. It's really twenty five seats total
- 6:30Speaker 1: that they're going to be competitive on both sides. They'll argue,
- 6:34Speaker 1: forty four Democrats that could be defeated, thirty five Republicans
- 6:38Speaker 1: going to be defeated. In the reality where we switch
- 6:41Speaker 1: those numbers realities, you know, this comes down to ten
- 6:45Speaker 1: to fifteen seats, and you've got to make all your
- 6:47Speaker 1: efforts there.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, voter, I d Democrats opposing that blocking that.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That looks pretty bad on their part, doesn't it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It does, But you know there's so much ecusion on
- 7:00Speaker 1: voting him. The key thing is get your voter out,
- 7:03Speaker 1: whatever it takes to get him out, and don't argue
- 7:07Speaker 1: about the method of voting, argue about who's going to vote.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And the president can do that, but again, I would
- 7:13Speaker 1: just argue everything in the cabinet, every the vice president
- 7:17Speaker 1: need to be out there saying the same thing. The
- 7:19Speaker 1: economy is the economy. It's the economy, and that's that's
- 7:22Speaker 1: what the public wants to hear.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, in New York City, Mom, Donnie probably the
- 7:29Speaker 2: worst person we could have for mayor, But he seems
- 7:32Speaker 2: very busy with photo ops and press conferences and the
- 7:35Speaker 2: public stuff and not really doing any work. That's a
- 7:38Speaker 2: good thing, but you think we'll get through these four
- 7:40Speaker 2: years of mom Donnie.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Well, they get through it one way or the other.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's what kind of shape If his policy is getting implemented,
- 7:48Speaker 1: we'll have a very bad state of the pairs in
- 7:50Speaker 1: New York in four years. But so far, I think
- 7:53Speaker 1: he's more of a personality than he is effective mayor
- 7:56Speaker 1: and the people that he's put in a to Blasio,
- 7:58Speaker 1: people who are not very effective. I think a certain
- 8:01Speaker 1: extent and a very dangerous And you've got to make
- 8:04Speaker 1: this sedacious financial capital, communications capital. You've got to make
- 8:08Speaker 1: the city run and run ef tectically. I don't know
- 8:11Speaker 1: that he's going peple to do that.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all the more reason we need Bruce Blakeman as governor,
- 8:15Speaker 2: just the.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Counter, no question about that.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Ed Rollins, great stuff, Thanks for being with us.
- 8:20Speaker 2: We'll talk again soon, pleasure, all right, take care. Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman will get the nomination tomorrow at the convention.
- 8:28Speaker 2: A big endorsement of him today New York Post. That's
- 8:31Speaker 2: good news. Hey, don't forget at noon today, every day
