Transcript
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Well, hey, thanks for singing us in, Steve and Jeff Show Band.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: It is great to be back in the studio tonight.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: I've been really doing a lot of traveling lately, so it's great to be back.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: I'm heading out again tomorrow, too.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: And you know, Jeff, I am flying to another airport named after a cowboy actor.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I'm going to Reagan National in DC.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: I had so many cowboy actors that have airports named after him.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: And he was a good cowboy.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: He was a really good state cowboy.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: That's his highest calling, I think.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: Well, he was raised in Illinois.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, cowboys, right?
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: If you weren't a cowboy that way, yeah.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: And you know, Jeff, I I gotta mention, I mean, we're not an investment show, but I I like to help people.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: I like to help, well, come on, let's face it.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: The millions that listen to the show, I like to help them out.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: And we're not an investment show, but it just seems like now is a great time to buy Taiwanese futures.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: They are really discounted.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: They have gone way down in value.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: There could be a real good buy.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, I was just thinking, you know.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: But how how how are you, Jeff?
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: How's it going?
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: I'm doing really good.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: I've been busy and I'm trying to eat better, Steve.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: So I ended up uh going to Subway.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: I heard, you know, there was that's a start.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Didn't they say that there's a subway diet?
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: I was doing that and I was getting in line to order my sub and it was weird.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: There was a rabbi and a priest standing right in front of me.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: They they go a lot of places, though they go to bars a lot of the time, but but they were in a subway.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: They were missing they were missing the frog.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: They weren't with the frog or the or the minister.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Sometimes, yeah, right.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: Because I I'm bored when I'm in line, I was listening to their kind of listening into their conversation.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: The priest, he turned to the rabbi.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: He had gotten this sub and it was some sort of a ham sub.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: And he turned to the to the rabbi and he said, So in Judaism, are you still holding to that that law that says that you can't eat pork?
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: And the rabbi said, Yeah, I'm st I'm still doing that.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: The priest said, Well, have you ever broken that?
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Because you know, ham's really good.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: And he says, he says, Yeah, once.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: He says, I had a sandwich once, wasn't as great as I thought it would be.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: And and I've only only done that once.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: And so they're checking out, they're paying, and uh, this woman who's checking them out, real attractive woman.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: No, the woman was checking them out while she was checking out.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Checking them out.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Uh huh.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: And the rabbi turns to the priest and he says, Do you guys still hold to you know celibacy where you can't have sex with a woman?
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: And and the priest said, Yeah, we still have that.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: And he goes, Well, have you ever fallen off the wagon?
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: And he said, Yeah, I fell off the wagon one time.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: And the rabbi said, Beats the hell out of a ham sandwich, doesn't it?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: You know, if it was Black Forest ham, that would be a close call.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: You know, and I guess you always learn something at your neighborhood subway or maybe at the other neighborhood subway, five storefronts down from the other neighborhood subway.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: But I actually haven't been to a subway for a long time, for years.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: I think the last time I was at a subway so long ago, you remember the guy Jared, who was the spokesperson for him, you know, that that guy who lost all that weight you were talking about, a guy who on the on the subway diet, and he he had a few problems after he lost the weight.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it's it's a digestion issue he had.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: I something like that.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: But anyways.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: So if you don't eat at Subway, where where do you eat?
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't always eat subs, but when I do, I love a good hamburger.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: And I I usually go, there's this place, a little hole in the wall, a little place but a lot of celebrities go there.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: It's kind of an upscale hole in the wall, you know.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: A lot of celebrities go there.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: In fact, I was in there the other day, and I speaking of Jared, I saw a guy who that's Jared, that's the Middle East negotiator and the real estate guy, you know.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: He's he's done so many good deals for himself.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Uh I mean, for our country.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Uh I went up to him and I said, you know, I run a podcast and hey, would you like to be on the show?
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Invite him on the show tonight.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: And he's he said yes.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, and that would be great.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: And I'm not saying that he wouldn't be a good guest, but I think it was my week to pick a guest.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: And it turns out that I did invite a guest because when I was at that subway, I ran into Jared, who was the Jared, you knew had the indigestion problems or whatever.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: Subway and Subway took him back.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Ooh.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: And sub yeah, he was he I think he was a manager, and so I asked him to be on the show, and I think he's he's right here in front of us.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: You mean the guy on the other side of the glass?
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: That's the guy I invited.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: That's my Jared, if you will.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm sure that's that's the guy I met.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: You know, the Jeff.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: It seems like one of those conundrums, you know, that you can buy in gas station bathrooms.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: And since we are master deducers, I guess the best way to really figure this out, let's bring them on and we'll use our expert interviewing and our master deducer talents.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Well, as master deducers, you don't need the conundrums.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Well, that's true.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: I guess right.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: Well, you can you know, you can add it.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's a particular kink if you want to do that.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, you can, I mean, you know, but I think if we really deduce, we can figure out which one he is.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: You know, it's almost like it's almost like playing a game of clue or something.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: It would be like Jared in the studio with the rope, or maybe at least with the hemp.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: It should be a lot of fun, though, you know.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: Well, I think that's great.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: So let's bring him on.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Let me let me introduce him.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the show, Jared.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, uh, uh, oh, uh well, well, thank you for for having me on.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: Uh it's uh it's a pleasure to to be here.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's great to have you here tonight.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was really surprised to see you because I thought you'd be in the Middle East, but here you are in Omaha, which is actually the Middle West.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Were you misdirected?
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: Uh well, I mean, uh I live here now, you know, and and I'm looking for some possible uh real estate opportunities.
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm looking for more room, but uh being from New York, you don't get much uh for the buck.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Uh again, and I'm used to being in a in a tiny box.
- 6:39SPEAKER_04: So uh getting a house with a yard, it sounds amazing.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: Well, until you have to mow it.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: Uh of course, yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: I I can always I you know I know a couple kids.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: I I can I can figure out someone's able to mow.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: That makes total sense, and I bet you do know a couple kids, but but speaking of that, living in a box for many years it seems as though you had to live in a box.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: Is that because it was New York or or whatever?
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: Oh oh yeah, yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: No, I had to live many years.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: But it was more because of my dad.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: Um, I I did get some benefits uh that the uh the normal Joe wouldn't get.
- 7:19SPEAKER_04: Uh my my dad was involved in real estate too.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: I I had heard that, and I apparently he was able to curry some favors, uh, but I understand he spent a lot of time in the box, if you will, so to speak, too, right?
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: He did.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:35SPEAKER_04: And he knows he knows a lot about that stuff.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: Actually, uh more than me.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: Um, he'd be what you'd call uh uh a deal maker at heart.
- 7:45SPEAKER_04: Uh really kind of you know, kind of turned it into uh making deals.
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: Uh it turned into a bit of an art for him.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: And you're quite a deal maker too.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: So I I remember I know that when I go into Subway, they have those daily deals.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: And I don't know if that was your idea or not, but I love the the Friday fish, uh the tuna fish.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: I love the Friday tuna sub.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: It's it's my favorite, okay?
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Uh and it's such a deal.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: You know, I I don't eat there as much as I used to.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: Uh more of Middle Eastern food now.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: I love a good falafel, um, which I heard there's there's a great place in Omaha that's got those.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: And and I never even knew that was a Jewish street food originally, you know.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: I was just hoping Subway adds them to the menu because the Subway's closer.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, I boy, I hope they do too.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: I love falafel, and that might give me back to Subway, you know.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: So I just to ask you something a little more serious, though.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: I know that at one time you were held up as the darling of our country and a great deal maker, but you know, with all that's going on now, uh, do you feel that your reputation has been a bit tarnished?
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: Uh uh a bit, yeah.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: I mean, and people think making deals is an easy thing to do.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: It's quite the opposite, right?
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: You know, like like in my last job, I got him to throw in six weeks of vacation.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: I'm um somewhat proud of that, you know.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: But but but in fairness, I did kind of go out on a limb, you know, MAGA for a while.
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: I I supported our king.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: So when when things go bad, I do feel like some people blame me.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: But but but it's it's not fair, you know, if you ask me, because I'm sure I'm sure the king will get it straightened out.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, he he like I said again, he's an ultimate deal maker.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: You know, he always says making deals is like riding a bike.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: You you act like you know how to ride, you take someone else's bike, nah, you took it, crash it into a group of people, killing a few if you have to, and then return the damaged bike to the original owner and blame them for the accident.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: And, and this is the most important, sue someone for something.
- 9:58SPEAKER_03: It's been a while since I've ridden a bike, but I don't remember it quite that way.
- 10:02SPEAKER_04: But um, sorry you didn't have a good enough bike.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: No, must not not have that.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, couldn't make the deal, apparently.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, yeah, but I'll take your word for it.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: So I don't want to go too too deep into your personal life, but have you straightened out that problem that you had, you know, with I I said indigestion, but it I think it more had to do with uh relationships, let's just put it that way.
- 10:27SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: I certainly have.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, when I when I started out in the business, I had no idea that some of the employees were underage.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, if I had known, I would have gotten rid of them or at least, you know, done done a better job of keeping it quiet.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, so you're saying you were on the island too?
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, I was actually raised uh on Long Island.
- 10:49SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, talk talk about young, attractive girls.
- 10:53SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, I I I dated a few.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Well, and you're a good-looking guy, but you weren't always, I mean, you weren't always in great shape.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: I mean, you were you were kind of chubby when you were younger.
- 11:03SPEAKER_03: Did was that a problem?
- 11:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was that, you know, but but finally I got on a good, healthy diet, lots of sandwiches with veggies.
- 11:12SPEAKER_04: You know, that's that's always it's the spreads that kill you the most.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: You know, it's like you gotta you gotta keep it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: Clean veggies, uh, a lot of kale, a lot of lettuce.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: Um, sometimes if you tell them twice as much lettuce, the sandwich feels fuller.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: You know, though, Jared, I'm I'm a little confused here, right?
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: You know, you might have heard Jeff and I talking at the open here that we we kind of double booked this interview with two different Jared's.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Uh Jeff invited you know, the Subway Jared, the one who was the he was the spokesperson for Subway, and he wound up going to prison for I think it was soliciting young girls, if I remember correctly.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a while back, but I you know.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: And I invited the Jared who took kickbacks and bribes from basically everyone, as he pretended to negotiate peace for our country and his king.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: Oh so now which one are you?
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay, I wondered.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Okay, I understand the confusion.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: So I'm actually both.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, my and my name is really really Jared.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: Uh, I met I think with Steve at Barney's Burgers, and and he is very famous.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: So when he asked me to come on the show, I jumped at the chance, and I never really asked me if I was Jared the negotiator, uh, the rich guy with the kickbacks.
- 12:34SPEAKER_04: And then a couple days ago, I was at a subway, you know, and you uh you approached me uh and made me an offer to to be on the show.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: Uh sorry, uh for the for the podcast listeners, I meant Jeff.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, offered me on the show as well, and I worked at Subway Bart Time and I jumped at the chance to be on the show too.
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: For some reason, I thought you two had different shows.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, but but um cards on the table.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: Uh the truth is I actually work for a celebrity speaker service where I pose as famous people, and I can be anyone you'd like me to be, but but the ironic part is our owner doesn't allow us to imitate horrible people, so I never could have been Jared, you know, uh to either of them, frankly.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Well, and and just for the record, it is the Steve and Jeff show, but it's it's not the Steve and the Jeff show.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: It's it's like one show, but but I'd agree.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Words matter, words definitely matters.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: Punctuation is important, you know.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: Uh now I I gotta ask though, you know, you use the word horrible.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, I can understand that description for the subway, Jared.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Certainly sounds, you know, I think most people would consider that horrible, right?
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Okay, but what about the uh real estate guy, Jared?
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, wow.
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: Uh Jared and his family uh are famous for taking advantage of people in business.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Uh he's gotten literally billions of dollars in kickbacks from other countries and was never once brought peace to any kind of the world.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: Okay, so no, no, no.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: He is he is, and I want to make this abundantly clear, one evil dude.
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: Maybe even worse than the subway guy, who just solicited young girls.
- 14:27SPEAKER_04: And now, since that seems to be legal, uh, especially to people in the White House, I wouldn't be surprised if I get to play the Subway Jared before I got to play the the other one.
- 14:37SPEAKER_04: But I mean, that's just my opinion, King.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Subway Jared's probably looking for a pardon here now, right?
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: Maybe.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: I would think so.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: Now, I think Steve and I would agree, I think we'd all agree that for the real estate Jared to reach the level, the lowest level of Subway Jared, he'd still have to do a lot worse than he's doing now.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, maybe get us into World War III with Iran or you know, something like that.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Don't you think?
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and and your point is Yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Well, it but but it is a compelling point, and I never really thought of it that way.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: So that's a really interesting job.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: Uh, do you do you get to portray other famous people and anybody in the future that you're gonna be doing?
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: Not really.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: You know, well in the old days I could do a number of politicians, uh, but not anymore.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: I mean, our off-limits list is getting incredibly long, and frankly, with certain news items, if our king would like to move it along, it will probably get even longer.
- 15:44SPEAKER_04: But uh, you know, that there's so many horrible people in the White House and Congress.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: About the only one I can do is Chuck Schumer.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: But but do you really want to do you really want to meet Chuck Schumer?
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: I I you know how and and frankly, how long do you really want to go off on the uh acetic nature of orange juice and why I have to pour water in it every day?
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: Like you don't need that kind of stuff.
- 16:07SPEAKER_04: So so again, nobody wants to meet Chuck Schumer.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: Maybe Amy, but not Chuck.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, hey, I'd I'd hired you to be Amy Schumer.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, she could really pump our podcast numbers to reach let's face it, Jeff, even more millions.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: Essentially with Amy Schumer, what I have to do is is find a script for another comedian and just read half of it in a in a higher whiny voice, and every once in a while mention my private parts.
- 16:32SPEAKER_04: Sort of the Sarah Silverman uh a little bit, yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_04: Well, take the Sarah Silverman and get a little less on the squeak.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: Uh-uh, and then that kind of turns into Amy Schumer.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that would work.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: That would work.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: You know, but that that's really unfortunate for you.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: And you know, maybe things will open up, and maybe that off-limits list will open up a little bit in November or in 2028, or 2032, yeah, or 2036.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: But but I digress.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: Anyway, it was great to meet you, whichever parent you are.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: And I want to thank you really for being on the show and being such a good sport.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: It's a little tough to come into the studios here and just be on the show.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: I I I know that.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: So you are very you are very intimidating, yes.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we are.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it is great to have you on the show.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: And you know, since you're an impersonator, maybe Steve, I don't know, we've never done this before.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: Maybe we could have him on as a guest pretending he's somebody else.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: It it would be change our format completely.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't know, guys.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: If if if the people can't trust that it's the same person on the show that says who they are, I don't know if anyone's ever gonna actually want to listen to that.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: If we did want to test that, I would like Mike Johnson because he's so hard to get a hold of.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: You know, he's never, I mean, they're never in session.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: That would be such an easy imitation, too.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: All you have to do is say, Well, I don't know anything about that.
