- 0:05Speaker 2: We chat with the stand-up comedian and political commentator Coming up.
- 0:09Speaker 2: you won't want to miss it.
- 0:11Speaker 3: It's amazing because I started playing Las Vegas in 1982, if you can believe it.
- 0:16Speaker 3: So it's like my 40th anniversary here.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I was the opening act for Diana Ross when I was 26 years old.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Plus, Carrie Underwood returns to Resorts World and we were there to toast the country star at a champagne reception.
- 0:30Speaker 2: And a new smoke-free slot section opens at the Plaza downtown.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's also a perfect place for you to amp up your Vegas social media.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Plus, what is all this talk of aliens landing in Las Vegas?
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm into this.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It's all coming up this week on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Welcome to episode 173 of Vegas.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Revealed Sean McAllister here, along with Dana Roselli.
- 1:01Speaker 1: What a week.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness, we're exhausted from all the fun we've been having and emotion.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Right, we are the Stanley Cup winners.
- 1:09Speaker 2: When I say we, i mean the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 1:11Speaker 2: They are our hockey team.
- 1:13Speaker 2: They were created in 2017.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It is 2023.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And, sean, what were you saying?
- 1:19Speaker 2: The owner actually said we would win a Stanley Cup within the first six years right.
- 1:23Speaker 1: He said a Stanley Cup in six, in the first six years, the first six seasons, and we've done it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh, here we are.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean, listen, if you follow us on social media, you have seen all our posts and either you're sick of it or you're loving it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So, while tough, we're putting it up anyway.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We had a blast outside the arena.
- 1:41Speaker 2: We went to game five, kind of figuring we'd win.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And we beat them and we're talking them.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Florida nine to three And we stood out with the masses and the crowds.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We had drinks, we watched the game.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It was an absolute blast and so emotional when they won.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It really was.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And what I thought was so cool is, you know, you see, in other cities when there's a championship win, crowds go a little crazy.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes there's looting, sometimes there's fires that break out, sometimes there's cars being flipped, windows being smashed.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We didn't have that.
- 2:18Speaker 1: No, everyone was just so happy to be there, so happy that the team won, and it was like the joy was kind of infectious.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It really was And you'll even look if you look at some of the clips of my video.
- 2:31Speaker 2: when you watch the people around us, i don't know their faces and getting out their phones.
- 2:37Speaker 2: They are so proud and just so happy.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It really everyone's kind of creating their own moment, even toward the end.
- 2:43Speaker 2: what I thought was super respectful, too, is that our fans like listen, we were winning by a lot.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We could have celebrated in the last five minutes of the game right But you never know, it's sports.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But even in the last minute of the game we waited till it was over.
- 2:57Speaker 2: It was called, it was official.
- 2:58Speaker 2: We saw the Knights jump over onto the ice and all gather in the middle, and then the place went wild, and when the graphic turned to Stanley Cup champions, it was amazing.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And everybody out on the plaza in front of T-Mobile Arena, the 10, 11, 12,000, i think it was.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It seemed like it was even more than that.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 1: In unison singing, we Are The Champions And we were right there in the middle of it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: But then seeing the overhead shot that came out later of everybody singing, it was just incredible to see.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It's one thing to be down in it, but when you get that big overhead perspective, it's a whole other thing, next level.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It was just amazing.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It really was, and I was just thinking like, and I meant to ask you like does that happen in other cities where everyone gathers outside like we did?
- 3:54Speaker 2: It depends on the city?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Yeah, depends on the city.
- 3:57Speaker 2: What?
- 3:58Speaker 1: kind of like fan zones they have and what the setup is.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Sometimes they close down streets and have you know big watch parties and stuff.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Because when they did show the aerial shot and we saw and like the group saw, everyone would go wild.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It was Right, it was so fun.
- 4:13Speaker 2: It was the best night of our life.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I can't explain it everyone.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It was amazing to win the Stanley Cup.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I know we won it in six and the haters will say, oh boy, you know others have waited 20 years.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's like, well, that's your problem, not ours, right?
- 4:26Speaker 2: But we do have a special attachment to the team.
- 4:30Speaker 2: We had an incredibly awful 2017 fall of 2017, i should say when we had a mass shooting here in Las Vegas.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It was a horrific event and it was also the month that we were starting and created the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So they were starting their season and the Vegas Golden Knights immediately stepped up.
- 4:51Speaker 2: They were out there in their community.
- 4:52Speaker 2: People came out to the games, they respected the first responders and the law enforcement.
- 4:57Speaker 2: That helped And it just created this camaraderie where I don't care what anyone says.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I mean I feel like we have a different bond in Las Vegas with this hockey team than other cities.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's a bond that is not going to be broken anytime soon.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I mean, the players feel it, especially the six players who remain from that original squad.
- 5:20Speaker 1: The community feels it, which is evident by the turnout and the celebration that happened after the Stanley Cup win.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But that is an extremely special bond.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's something that is going to be there forever.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we're looking forward to the festivities continuing all week long and month long probably, here in Las Vegas.
- 5:42Speaker 2: The Stanley Cups already made the rounds to the Vegas nightclubs.
- 5:46Speaker 1: The Stanley Cup goes to more nightclubs than I do.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I know seriously, I've probably have ever been to.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And I love the Stanley Cup Twitter page because it tweeted something about like I've got a new year residency here in Las Vegas, or something like that.
- 5:59Speaker 2: It was so funny, but so unique and creative.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I guess Witty It is The.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Cup and the players.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They're going to be due some downtime once this initial phase of celebrations is over.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So big congratulations to the Vegas Golden Knights on the Stanley Cup victory.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and if you want some merchandise, we are getting really good at curating these lists so that you don't have to in our new Amazon shop.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So we have lists in there of Vegas essentials, some of Sean's favorite things, my favorite things, podcast essentials, and now we've got a new list in there of Stanley Cup champion merchandise that you might want.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Sean actually went through and picked the best things.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So if you're looking to get some merch that has to do with the actual win, go to our Amazon shop.
- 6:46Speaker 2: We have a link in our show notes and we have links on our social media and stuff like that.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Just so you know, we do get some commission off anything that you buy, but it helps support the show.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and speaking of supporting the show, we do want to give a shout out to our latest Vegas revealed subscriber, tracy Jansen.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Oh, thank you so much, tracy.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We appreciate it really.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It's great that so many people have hopped on board and helped us out.
- 7:13Speaker 2: We actually did a video version of the podcast today that we're going to put on YouTube just to kind of try it out.
- 7:20Speaker 2: But these subscriptions are allowing us to have a little bit of you know, take away some work time and concentrate a little bit more on the podcast.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So we're at it with Tracy's help.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Tracy owns targeted tax relief.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You've probably heard us talk about that before in the past.
- 7:34Speaker 2: We use Tracy as our tax person.
- 7:36Speaker 2: She's amazing at helping people in situations that you know sometimes are good and sometimes are bad, but in her case it targeted tax relief.
- 7:46Speaker 2: It's usually usually bad, but she turns that frown upside down by helping you resolve your issues.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And Tracy deals directly with the IRS on your behalf, to make things all better again.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So yeah, give Tracy a call at targeted tax relief for a free consultation.
- 8:06Speaker 2: All right, Sean, you are all a flutter about this alien story.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Okay, so this story comes out and everyone's talking about it.
- 8:15Speaker 2: You probably heard it And maybe, if you haven't, sean's going to explain it in a minute, because I still I get it, but okay.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Family sees something fall and then they call 911, say there's a nine foot alien in their backyard and send the police.
- 8:30Speaker 2: It happened, it's legit, the 911 call is out there.
- 8:35Speaker 1: The 911 call is real.
- 8:37Speaker 2: The police body camera that witnessed something fall out of the sky is real, so that's why Sean is so just taken by this story.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Listen, i'll just flat out say I completely subscribe to the idea that we may not be the only living beings in the universe or in whatever outer space.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Things are out there And I don't know.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Maybe they do come and pay us visits.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Here's the deal of what happened here in Las Vegas.
- 9:11Speaker 1: There's a family in the northwest part of Las Vegas who there was this blue streak that came out of the sky.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's what was captured on police body camera footage.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Shortly after that, this family called 911 and said hey, something just came crashing out of the sky and landed in our backyard And now we see a couple like nine or 10 foot non-human beings walking around back there with these giant shiny eyes.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Okay, 911 said okay, we'll send some police over.
- 9:47Speaker 1: The police showed up, but the 911 call.
- 9:49Speaker 2: The guy doesn't sound very nervous.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I mean, if you saw a 10 foot creature with big eyes in your backyard I'd crap myself Are you kidding me.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I mean I would yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So anyway, he's very calm.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Maybe he's been looking forward to this moment for a long time on our show.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Perhaps So the family has put out videos on YouTube.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You can find them on social media, some videos that they took of kind of looking into their backyard.
- 10:18Speaker 1: There's the son of the family put a YouTube video out explaining the whole situation, walking everyone through what happened.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Apparently there's a report out there now that allegedly the police went and put surveillance cameras up on top of the roof of the family's home in case, these extraterrestrial visitors decide to come back again.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Right, okay, well, that's a good idea actually.
- 10:44Speaker 1: It is.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The part I did find interesting is when the officers show up, the one is like well, my partner saw it on his body cam.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He saw it.
- 10:52Speaker 2: and then the body cam video does pick up something falling from the sky right around that time.
- 10:58Speaker 2: So even the officer is saying to the person who called 911, like normally I'd kind of be like yeah, whatever, but I mean my partner saw it too.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Like so just I'm really curious, like what did you see?
- 11:10Speaker 2: So that makes it a little more legit.
- 11:13Speaker 1: but It was, and it was Channel 8 here in Las Vegas that really broke the story.
- 11:18Speaker 1: They're the investigative team And they even said in their initial report about this that there was a black SUV that was kind of seen around the home shortly after the crash happened.
- 11:35Speaker 1: So who knows, maybe the government got there quick.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Oh and snatched up the aliens and their spaceship and drove away.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I don't know does a spaceship fit in the back of a black SUV?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Could be, I don't know.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Lot of questions remain, but I am fascinated by it.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I don't think we're the only ones either, but I'm not sure that there's another place where there's a whole other like world where they've been able to create a spaceship and get it down here and land and take back off really quick.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Well, and if they are so advanced, why are they crashing?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Maybe they're visiting more often than we know, and these are just the anomalies when they crash, who knows?
- 12:17Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:17Speaker 1: We'll get answers, maybe eventually, maybe not.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I know we did get a chance to ask Bill Maher about this and his thoughts.
- 12:22Speaker 2: We actually just talked to Bill Maher.
- 12:24Speaker 2: He's in Las Vegas for a couple shows over at the MGM Grand Father's Day weekend.
- 12:31Speaker 2: So if you listen to this after, then those shows are over, but Bill's gonna be back September 15th, 16th and November 3rd and 4th.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Bill is a standup comedian, a political commentator.
- 12:41Speaker 2: We had a great chat right.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We really did.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Bill's a great guy.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You know him as the host of Politically Incorrect back in the day.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Now he hosts Real Time with Bill Maher.
- 12:51Speaker 1: He also has his own podcast and he's been performing here in Las Vegas for years.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I know and we talk about it.
- 12:58Speaker 2: It's funny his take on Vegas through the years.
- 13:00Speaker 2: This is a great interview.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Everyone Listen to this interview.
- 13:04Speaker 2: We ask him what we're gonna get at the show Also, we talk Vegas then and now We talk a little politics and we even talk baseball.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Bill, how's it going?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Well, i'm out of work now because of the strike, but other than that, i'm doing okay.
- 13:21Speaker 2: That's why you're coming to Vegas to do standup.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Well, of course that had been booked and I love coming to Vegas more than anywhere else really at this point.
- 13:30Speaker 3: But yeah, i'm very glad that I have a podcast and I'm very glad it's a love of touring life, right right.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Because other than that, I just would be twiddling my thumbs.
- 13:41Speaker 3: We've been shut down since April 28th.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Wow, listen, i wanna talk about this Vegas show.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I wanna jump into it and talk about what we can expect when we actually see you doing standup in a theater.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I know you're gonna be over at the David Copperfield Theater.
- 13:57Speaker 2: The world's gone mad, so I can only imagine you have tons of material.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Yes, i mean, the world's always a little mad, but it's actually more mad.
- 14:05Speaker 3: You're right, it never has been.
- 14:07Speaker 3: So you know.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I mean, look, standup comedy is a different animal than anything else.
- 14:13Speaker 3: It's not a podcast and it's not a real-time episode.
- 14:17Speaker 3: It's for laughing your ass off.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You know when people come and they see you and they sit in the audience and it's just you and a microphone.
- 14:24Speaker 3: You better be very, very funny And, luckily for them, i am.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Now, of course, the fodder, for what makes me funny is the kind of stuff that you would expect from watching real-time.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I mean, i'm not interested really in the trivia of life.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I am interested in lots of things that aren't specifically political, like sex, drugs and rock and roll, but you know, i like to chew on the big issues and I think that's what the crowd who comes likes to see me do.
- 14:55Speaker 3: So I love to do it for them and I can't wait to get there.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So when you talk about chewing on the big issues I mean one of the big issues we've had recently here in Las Vegas are aliens landing in people's backyard allegedly And I know that you've talked about this whole alien conspiracy theory thing You don't expect to see any flying saucers or 10-foot guys with big eyes walking around over at MGM, do you?
- 15:27Speaker 3: No, not at MGM, but some of the other hotels.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Definitely The MGM has hired the ghostbusters to come in and clean the place out.
- 15:35Speaker 3: But yeah, there are definitely some old souls who are walking around that town.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Now, look, are there aliens?
- 15:45Speaker 3: That is not an unscientific question.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Look, as a lifelong, you know, particular of religion there are certain things I just think are silly that people believe in.
- 15:57Speaker 3: But it's not unscientific to think that we may not be alone in the universe.
- 16:03Speaker 3: But it is odd to think.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I mean I've been reading lately about how there's supposedly a whistleblower who says that he has seen a lot of.
- 16:13Speaker 3: There's a place I guess it's near Area 51, roswell, new Mexico, where they keep the crashed spaceships.
- 16:21Speaker 3: It is odd to think that they could have traveled oceans of time and distance and yet crashed but they had the capability to get here, but then they couldn't keep it afloat in the atmosphere, and there's also some alien autopsies that they talk about.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I don't think it's impossible that the aliens are among us and they're checking it out or whatever they're doing, but until it affects my life, i don't care.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Exactly That's what I say.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Sean and I have this conversation.
- 16:55Speaker 2: He's fascinated about this latest apparent alien sighting and I'm like, eh, I don't care so much, but I don't know if I believe it or whatever, but it's funny.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I go down the rabbit hole on the whole thing, yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Listen, let's talk about the variety of people that you get at your shows in Las Vegas.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Now, do you think the Vegas crowd is different than if you were to just go to a city and do stand up in a particular city?
- 17:20Speaker 2: I mean because we have people from all over, and do you like that atmosphere better?
- 17:23Speaker 2: Do you like that kind of audience?
- 17:27Speaker 3: It's amazing because I started playing Las Vegas in 1982, if you can believe it.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So this is like my 40th anniversary here.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Wow.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I was the opening act for Diana Ross when I was 26 years old.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yes, and in the 80s Vegas was not really that fun a place.
- 17:45Speaker 3: You know, it was sort of the end of the Rat Pack era.
- 17:49Speaker 3: They had not been phased out yet.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Frank Sinatra was still playing there and Pat Cooper and you know Dean Martin and Sammy and you know that crowd, but they were kind of geriatric at that point And quite frankly, the town was geriatric at that point.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I mean it was just not a hip place.
- 18:06Speaker 3: There were like no night clubs like there are in hotels now.
- 18:10Speaker 3: It was not a place where young people went.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I was young, i was 26.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I was looking for action.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I couldn't find any.
- 18:18Speaker 3: And they certainly didn't have the money to involve myself in the action on the table.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:24Speaker 3: You know.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I mean it was just a kind of a dead ball era for the town.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Then in the 90s Vegas tried to reinvent itself, i'm sure you recall, as a family friendly place which is really stupid.
- 18:38Speaker 3: And then, when that didn't work, they went back to okay.
- 18:41Speaker 3: What happened to Vegas days?
- 18:42Speaker 3: I guess?
- 18:44Speaker 3: all right, you know, and that's what Vegas always was.
- 18:47Speaker 3: It was an adult playground and it still is, and now it's an adult playground again and has been for the remainder of this century, and it's the older I get, the more I love it, because I feel like I'm the other flavor that is in town.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I mean, normally what people find in Vegas is very mainstream things, including magic and a lot of stuff that would not interest me.
- 19:12Speaker 3: But Vegas itself is a big town now, not even you don't even have to have the tourists.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I get a lot of the townies who come to my show and it's a very hip town with a lot of very hip people.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So and then you know, even if I'm only appealing to, i don't know, a quarter of the population that comes to Vegas, the people who want to see something a little smarter and a little more erudite, a little more, shall we say, debonair, that's still a lot of people.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Not everybody wants to go see dolphins in the magic show.
- 19:47Speaker 3: You know Rod Stewart singing his old hit.
- 19:51Speaker 3: People want something different, and so I'm telling you I enjoy Vegas probably more than anywhere else that I play.
- 19:59Speaker 3: It's funny, for me it's a very hip town.
- 20:03Speaker 3: It's not, in general, always a very hip town.
- 20:06Speaker 3: A lot of it is corny, but again, there's just lots of people in town and the people I pull are fantastic.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Well, so, like you said back in the 80s, you would go out, you would be looking for action and couldn't find it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: When you're off stage now, what kind of action are you looking for?
- 20:26Speaker 3: Oh, i'm not.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I'm 67 years old, i'm looking for action.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I mean, look, i never got married.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I don't have kids.
- 20:34Speaker 3: So, I'm hardly retired from being a fun person, but I'm not looking for trouble.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I never was.
- 20:42Speaker 3: You can get into trouble in Vegas.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I don't want to do that.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I don't gamble, but I love to be at.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Look, i'm only there for a weekend, so it's the perfect amount of time.
- 20:53Speaker 3: And, yes, do I go out after the show on Friday night?
- 20:57Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 20:58Speaker 3: I've never once got back to my hotel after the show.
- 21:02Speaker 3: It's a night town and I'm a night owl.
- 21:05Speaker 3: So, it's great, i mean, what I wish they still had was late shows You know they used to have lounge shows.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You go see Don Rickles at one in the morning at some place.
- 21:18Speaker 3: That's what they need to bring back.
- 21:20Speaker 2: They do.
- 21:20Speaker 1: We're on the same page.
- 21:21Speaker 2: We're yeah, we just recently did a podcast about that exact thing.
- 21:24Speaker 2: We don't understand what the thinking is behind that, but it's like all that.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And even like medium-sized shows, it's hard to find smaller shows, like you said, like lounges and stuff.
- 21:35Speaker 2: It's hard to find that anymore.
- 21:36Speaker 2: It's big, big shows now.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yes, and stuff that goes late.
- 21:41Speaker 3: And I think what happened was the town got taken over by so many young people.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's such a great destination now for the young and the hip folks And they go to clubs.
- 21:52Speaker 3: They're not going to go see a lounge show, that's where they are.
- 21:56Speaker 3: But I wish there was just something for people like me who I'm not going to go to a club.
- 22:02Speaker 3: It's way too loud, i'm way too old, it's ridiculous.
- 22:05Speaker 3: But I would love to do something like a lounge show.
- 22:09Speaker 3: But I tried to do a show for a while.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I think it was when I was back at the Mirage.
- 22:15Speaker 3: We tried to do a show at 11.
- 22:18Speaker 3: George Carlin used to do a show at like, i think, two in the morning or something like that.
- 22:23Speaker 3: That didn't work either.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Because I think at that hour people want to be in the clubs.
- 22:29Speaker 3: The shows take place between like Seven and nine.
- 22:34Speaker 3: that's when you have to do the shows.
- 22:36Speaker 3: I think my my show is at nine now at the.
- 22:40Speaker 3: MGM, but that's about as late as you can push it right.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean, it's tough.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I know I have a couple friends who tried to do even 10 pm Shows and that was a struggle on.
- 22:50Speaker 2: They had to push it back to start at 8, 30 like you're saying, and nine, so I Don't know.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Listen, i went to my first trip ever to Los Angeles when I did the whole.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm gonna do LA Do.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I went to your show.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I was in the studio audience of politically incorrect I think Fred Savage was on the show or something Yes.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, i don't know, was it, maybe 2000.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Oh, maybe maybe 90s, actually late 90s, yeah you're right.
- 23:21Speaker 3: You're right, i mean it peaked politically incorrect, ended in 2002, so you could have been early 2000.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but I enjoyed it and I and I loved it so much It was me and my mom and so we followed you ever since and and I know I know we're gonna get a variety of different topics when we, when we see you in Las Vegas.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Do you know, can you give us any like tidbits that you're gonna be talking about?
- 23:41Speaker 2: like we can, we are definitely not gonna miss Bill talking about this when he's here.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Well, you're gonna get the whole panoply.
- 23:49Speaker 3: You're gonna get 90 minutes of Of everything that you could possibly want an opinion on.
- 23:55Speaker 3: That I am going to provide for you.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Of course, i'm gonna talk about the political scene.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Obviously, we're entering into the First days of the presidential campaign is a whole new field of Republican presidential contenders.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Trump has just been arrested again.
- 24:13Speaker 3: People are I mean I'm dying because I'm not on the air.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I mean he, he's about to face 310 years in prison.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I'm sure people want want to hear me talk about that and I want to hear me talk about that.
- 24:27Speaker 3: And then we're gonna have to talk about the other side.
- 24:30Speaker 3: One of the things I really love about the audience that comes to see me now is that is a mixed audience and when I say mixed.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I mean politically mixed, which is the hardest thing to do in America right now.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I mean it's not hard to find a racially mixed audience, thank God.
- 24:45Speaker 3: It's it's not hard to find a sexually mixed audience, but politically people are in their silos.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Republicans don't mess with Democrats and vice versa.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Well, they do it my shows because, i mean, i'm basically left-leaning centrist, i basically side with the Democrats on most things, but the left has gone nuts in the last five years in a lot of ways and I'm the one who's not shy Among the liberals to talk about that.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Don't, i'm not on board with this if I don't get along And get on board your crazy train that I'm a Republican, well, i'm not a Republican, but I'm not a crazy person either.
- 25:22Speaker 3: So, we're gonna go after woke nonsense in my show because, first of all, it's funny.
- 25:28Speaker 2: It is funny very, very funny.
- 25:30Speaker 3: People say to me Why do you make fun of the left more than you're used to?
- 25:33Speaker 3: because you're more ridiculous.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Nobody used to say men could get pregnant before.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I'm not gonna make fun of that, are you kidding?
- 25:41Speaker 3: So we're gonna.
- 25:43Speaker 3: We're gonna go after both sides and then we're gonna get personal my personal.
- 25:48Speaker 3: We're gonna talk a lot about sex and we're gonna talk about relationships and stuff like that.
- 25:52Speaker 3: It's gonna be something for everybody and I think you know, like I say, it's a pleasure being in front of an audience now and They'll laugh at the Trump jokes and they'll laugh at the woke jokes, because most people, i think, a Tired of the nonsense on the fringes of either side and they're in the middle and.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I'm happy to be there with them.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Well, i think I think that's a good point, because I was talking to someone who I'd say lean's Republicans.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I don't.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I'm interviewing Bill Maher and then I'm like do you like Bill?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Bill?
- 26:19Speaker 2: I can't think that I agree with a lot, but then when I hear him talk, i really like him.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Makes a lot of sense He makes a lot of sense and I'm like, i think that he.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Most people do not want this incredible Polarization that we have now, and most people are not either Trumpers, hardcore Trumpers or hardcore Wolksters.
- 26:42Speaker 3: There's somewhere in the middle.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Now There are people who come to my show who I'm sure I mean I.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I've been asked you know who here is gonna vote for Trump?
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah, people applaud and I've been saying forever you can hate Trump, you can't hate all the people who like him.
- 26:58Speaker 3: First of all, it's half the country.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Second of all, would I ever vote for Trump?
- 27:03Speaker 3: No, but do I understand why some people would, given what's going on on the left?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that, i get that.
- 27:12Speaker 3: I get people who say, yeah, trump, he's a bad guy And he's a huge asshole, oh, yeah, and he's kind of a criminal, oh, and he lies Incredibly.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Oh, and he doesn't believe in democracy, you know.
- 27:25Speaker 3: But on the other hand, my kid came home from school the other day and he's wearing a dress now and At least five years old, and so I can't let that happen to my family in my country and you know I get all that and I try to talk about all of that Kind of stuff and listen.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Bill, i don't know if this is gonna make it into your show or not, but what do you think about major league baseball setting up shop here?
- 27:48Speaker 3: Well, i think it's About time.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I mean, vegas is a major city.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Like I said, even without the tourist faction, it's just a major city.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I think it's probably bigger than some cities that already have franchises.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Obviously it worked well in football.
- 28:02Speaker 3: As a former minority owner of a team in baseball, i used to own a piece of the Mets.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I think if I had a choice in this, if I had a vote in this, i would definitely say it's a great thing to have happened to for Major League baseball because, you know, expansion is sort of the lifeblood of the game.
- 28:23Speaker 3: It's it.
- 28:24Speaker 3: You know, when I was a kid I think there was 16 teams and now I think we have almost twice as many.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because the country keeps getting bigger and people need to be served for this.
- 28:34Speaker 3: People want to have a team to root for, so I think it's great.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean, vegas has really become a sports town, so it's interesting.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you know so a push for baseball and bringing back late-night lounge shows, yep.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:48Speaker 2: It's our takeaway, that's our takeaway.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and when I said I was in the studio audience of a politically incorrect, that was when I was, you know, before starting my career I was a longtime local television news anchor.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So really being in your studio audience of that show, i remember, made me excited about television and is why I pursued doing what I do.
- 29:06Speaker 3: So thanks, bill Oh well, that's great, and I I maybe now you can convince some of the younger generation to start buying TVs again but yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Well.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I love these kids don't even have TVs.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Well, I watch them.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I know I mean they see everything in small clips On their phone and if you talk to them about television they're like what's that thing?
- 29:30Speaker 2: It's so true.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Sean and I left our full-time television jobs in 2019 because of that and started this podcast and started a media company.
- 29:37Speaker 2: But we just noticed the changes and we were like it's just not going in the right direction.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Now we can have conversations like this You.
- 29:44Speaker 3: No, I could never live without a big ass TB at the end of my bed.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I love it.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Listen, bill.
- 29:52Speaker 2: thanks so much.
- 29:53Speaker 2: We look forward to seeing your show MGM Grand June 16, 17, september 15, 16, november 3rd and 4th, and we'll see you at the after party, i guess, wherever we decide we're going to go.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be there.
- 30:05Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Thanks so much.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Thanks, bill, see you this weekend, take care.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Okay, take care.
- 30:09Speaker 2: It was great to talk to Bill.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I wasn't sure what to expect.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I kind of knew what to expect, but I wasn't sure to expect.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Like, let's say, i went in going, hmm, how's this going to go?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Right, and I don't think that I knew that Bill Maher was your inspiration to get into broadcasting.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I mean being at his show and being in a studio audience.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I thought I want to be a part of the TV world somehow.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I love watching the cameras and the hosts and all that.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it was really cool.
- 30:35Speaker 2: So interesting Switching from Bill Maher.
- 30:37Speaker 2: It's been a big week We talked to Bill Maher on a Monday and then we had drinks with Carrie Underwood on a Wednesday.
- 30:43Speaker 1: With the Stanley Cup win sandwiched in between.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Oh it's true.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Oh my God, oh my God.
- 30:48Speaker 1: That's why the week felt so long.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I'm exhausted Because we fit a month's worth of stuff into three days.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so Carrie Underwood is back here in Las Vegas.
- 30:57Speaker 1: She has the residency over at Resorts World called Reflection.
- 31:02Speaker 1: She took a year off from that residency so that she could go out on tour with her denim and rhinestones tour.
- 31:09Speaker 1: That's wrapped up.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So Carrie just came back here to Las Vegas and we were fortunate enough to be invited to the champagne reception as she literally walked back through the doors at Resorts World.
- 31:25Speaker 2: It was a small group So we were honored to be there.
- 31:27Speaker 2: We had Pastor Dervs and Champagne, there was a live band And then Carrie Underwood walked in along with Scott Cibella from Resorts World And it was great to see Carrie up close in person and see her.
- 31:41Speaker 2: You know, kind of being really excited to be back And you could tell she was ready to get rehearsing.
- 31:47Speaker 1: She was, and Carrie did get on the mic a little bit and talk about her excitement being here in Las Vegas, and also we were like wait a second, carrie, are you breaking some news right now?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Well, thank you all for being here And thank you guys so much for this.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I feel very special right now, so thank you.
- 32:12Speaker 1: It truly was an honor to get to open the theater at Resorts World.
- 32:17Speaker 1: We're the first people that ever got on that stage and the crowds have been absolutely amazing.
- 32:24Speaker 1: We have had so much fun.
- 32:26Speaker 3: This has truly been our home away from home And we're excited for the rest of this year and hopefully for a long time to come.
- 32:35Speaker 1: We're having a blast, So thank you all so much.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I am honored and humbled and excited.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Just heard Carrie say right there she says she plans on being around for a long time.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I mean, why not?
- 32:50Speaker 2: What a great theater, a great people to work for a beautiful property.
- 32:55Speaker 2: You come in, do a bunch of shows head out.
- 33:00Speaker 1: When she gets to bring her family with her, it's wonderful Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 2: The whole thing.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yeah, she was taking pictures with the band and everything And when we talked to her so we did get some one-on-one time with Carrie.
- 33:09Speaker 2: We didn't interview her, but we were introduced and got a few minutes to chat with her And it was a pleasure to meet her.
- 33:15Speaker 2: She's beautiful in person and she was so kind.
- 33:18Speaker 2: But we talked to her a little bit about how we do these segments in LA on television and how you know, so many people from Southern California come to Las Vegas and want to see shows And she was like yeah, it's great having a show here, because if I need to do work in LA it's not stressful.
- 33:36Speaker 2: We just like go there for a day or two, do our thing, come back to Vegas, do my show.
- 33:41Speaker 2: So it's very convenient.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Well, because normally she'd have to do a cross-country flight from Nashville out to LA, and here I mean it's just a day trip.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Right, it's very easy, very convenient.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I love when people embrace it And, like I did say, she's beautiful in person.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I just have to do, like, play the woman role.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I mean, but you do wonder, these people you see on TV or you see in concert and you're standing far back.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I'm like is Carrie?
- 34:05Speaker 2: she's like superwoman.
- 34:07Speaker 2: She's gorgeous in her legs and her hair and her beautiful face And she is stunning up close.
- 34:12Speaker 2: She is Yeah.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And so sweet.
- 34:15Speaker 2: So nice.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It was a pleasure to meet her.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'm excited that she is back.
- 34:18Speaker 2: 21 dates for 2023.
- 34:20Speaker 2: It all starts June 21st.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I'm going to be out of town because I've got to go visit some family, but, sean, you're going to the opening night And so we'll chat about to see, like, if there's any changes in the show at all since she last had it.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we absolutely will There.
- 34:34Speaker 1: she has, I think, new six new songs out right now since she performed here last, So it wouldn't surprise me if she switches things up a little bit.
- 34:44Speaker 1: but we'll talk about that in one of our next couple episodes.
- 34:49Speaker 2: All right, let's do some tips now.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Our first tip this week is for gamblers who might like to get away from the smoky air that can sometimes be a little irritating on a casino floor.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Park MGM on the Las Vegas Strip is the first big casino in Las Vegas on the Strip to go non smoking and non smoking gaming floor.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Well, now in downtown Las Vegas, the Plaza is also giving gamblers an area where they can be in a smoke free environment.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Yeah, there's like a new smoke free slot section.
- 35:32Speaker 2: It's actually called the Brian Christopher Slots at Plaza.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Brian Christopher actually does a lot of online slot play and you can go to his YouTube channel.
- 35:42Speaker 2: He's got thousands and thousands and thousands of views.
- 35:46Speaker 2: People love watching him play slots, so they named this after him, and they've also included a social media element where there's different backdrops and you can do selfies and group shots So you can go play slots, smoke free and you can do some social media over there too.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I love the idea and I think it's really going to be a destination spot for people who like to, you know, play this lot machine but don't want smoke around them, because we are allowed to smoke in Vegas casinos.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Besides the Park MGM, there's been demand for people I should say other properties to go smoke free, but it just hasn't happened.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and this is the smoke free slots as part of the Main Street Reimagination Project over at the Plaza.
- 36:27Speaker 1: In addition to that slot area, there is also a new carousel bar, which is out in front of the Plaza.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, where the Valet area used to be, with the beautiful lights, i mean, it's a famous picture spot.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Yeah, they've turned that into a bar, which is absolutely stunning.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Go to our social media and look at the pictures of that.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Also, there's a pink box donuts with some Instagrammable spots outside that's already become hugely popular, and a rooftop patio at Oscars Steakhouse.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Perfect, yeah, because that looks right down Fremont Street.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I love that.
- 37:07Speaker 2: They have added that.
- 37:08Speaker 2: And there was some video online of Oscar seeing the patio for the first time and really excited about it.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I love that.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Oscar Goodman is just a Vegas gem.
- 37:20Speaker 2: He is, yeah, so smoke free slots, great places to take pictures, beautiful new front carousel, bar, rooftop I mean that's like a bunch of tips all in one.
- 37:31Speaker 2: It's officially opened on June 10th, so it's ready to go.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Go visit the Plaza.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Our second tip has to do with something we talked about a little bit earlier in the show and we told you our attachment to the Vegas Golden Knights, because you know, that team was created around October 1 of 2017.
- 37:49Speaker 2: And that's when we had a mass shooting here in Las Vegas.
- 37:52Speaker 2: It was an absolutely horrifying day for us.
- 37:54Speaker 2: But you know, years have gone by and there has been a lot of talk about, okay, what do we do to permanently find something to remember and reflect, and a lot of people have talked about putting a memorial in different spots.
- 38:13Speaker 2: So some people are like, well, we don't want it at the site.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Others were like, well, we should have it somewhere else, and so, anyway, it has been decided.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Mgm donated up a portion of the land there where the shooting happened, where the Route 91 music festival took place, and now they are going to put a permanent memorial there.
- 38:32Speaker 2: But they need a design.
- 38:34Speaker 1: That's right.
- 38:34Speaker 1: So the whole process started by accepting artwork and ideas from the public about what should be included in a memorial.
- 38:44Speaker 1: All of those ideas were then passed on to a bunch of architects and designers.
- 38:51Speaker 1: They took those ideas and built off of them and came up with their own designs.
- 38:56Speaker 1: All of those designs have been narrowed down to five finalists that a committee is now going to choose from, but there is still public input that that committee wants before a final decision is made.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Right, and so where this comes in as a tip is you can visit and look at the kind of I guess I would call models, right, designs.
- 39:21Speaker 2: You can look at the designs.
- 39:22Speaker 2: You can look at the models If you're visiting Las Vegas in the summer and you want to go look.
- 39:27Speaker 2: You know, apparently 66% of the people of the victims and families are from Southern California, so I know they're really trying to put the word out to places outside of Las Vegas to come visit us again and go in, look, decide, help.
- 39:44Speaker 2: You know we want you to have your input too.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Of course it's crucial and it's important.
- 39:48Speaker 2: We are going to put a link in our show notes that will take you to the website to actually browse around, get some information.
- 39:57Speaker 2: But in case you want to go directly there right now it's ClarkCountyNVgov And then you will find a place to click there.
- 40:06Speaker 2: You'll see a nice big graphic that'll take you to that.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so you can see these designs online if you want to see them in person, they're on display at the Clark County Government Center, but again, all the information so you can check it out yourself is down in our show notes.
- 40:21Speaker 2: You know, and there was a live stream this week on Facebook where all the designers spoke about how they came up with their idea, and you know they put so much heart and soul and so much thought and work into these designs.
- 40:34Speaker 2: You know.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Thank you for that, because it's important to everyone.
- 40:38Speaker 2: So if you do visit us, stop by or browse around online and maybe you can write in.
- 40:43Speaker 2: That might be a possibility too.
- 40:45Speaker 2: I didn't look into that, but I have a feeling that's probably another way that you can get you know your opinion out there.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that is episode 173 of Vegas Revealed.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Again, we want to thank our subscribers.
- 40:58Speaker 1: If you would like to become a subscriber to the podcast, there is a link down in our show notes.

- 41:30Speaker 2: So go check that out too.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Everything we talk about, or a lot of the things that we talk about, you see some video to compliment it.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Next week on Vegas Revealed episode 174, we are checking out Ocean Prime.
- 41:43Speaker 1: This is a huge, beautiful new steakhouse right on the Las Vegas Strip at Harmon in Las Vegas Boulevard, right in the heart of all the action.
- 41:52Speaker 1: The big outdoor patio looks really gorgeous.
- 41:56Speaker 1: We're excited to get over there, check it out and let you know what it's all about.
