- 0:12Speaker 2: His new album is officially out right now do then.
- 0:14Speaker 1: No baby doing, No Baby Man? What's good keV?
- 0:17Speaker 2: First of all, welcome to adulthood. The last time we
- 0:20Speaker 2: did an interview, you were definitively going to school Monday
- 0:24Speaker 2: to Friday. Uh, doing stuff when you were not in school,
- 0:28Speaker 2: Like you were kind of like navigating your music career
- 0:31Speaker 2: around being a high school student.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yes, sir, if you're going to Since.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Then you've graduated, so congrats, thank you man. And now
- 0:40Speaker 2: you're you know, you're of age.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Eighteen eighteen. How's it feel man to be eighteen?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah? Is it like anything change? I mean you've been
- 0:48Speaker 2: kind of like living like an adult before, having fucking
- 0:50Speaker 2: gold records and platinum records and such as a as
- 0:53Speaker 2: a high school senior.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Man, then be eighteen today and do what I've done.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's it's amazing. I'm extremely great and it's just so
- 1:02Speaker 1: much more to be done. Shit, it doesn't feel like
- 1:06Speaker 1: it's adulhood though. I feel like because before I was
- 1:08Speaker 1: eighteen or the club.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Shit, you're already going to the club, You're already doing
- 1:12Speaker 2: all that stuff anyway.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Getting booked, and now I'm used to that shit. Now
- 1:14Speaker 1: that shit not nothing, Yeah nothing specials really have.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It's not like you're buying vapes or cigarettes because that
- 1:20Speaker 2: would be stupid. Yeah yeah, but I mean, hey, at
- 1:24Speaker 2: least now you're like, you know, you could like register
- 1:27Speaker 2: to be in the army.
- 1:27Speaker 1: If you wanted to vote, vote, you could vote. Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 1: you should vote.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Everyone should vote, no matter what side of the you know,
- 1:35Speaker 2: spectrum you're on.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Vote.
- 1:37Speaker 2: It's a you know a lot of people have died
- 1:40Speaker 2: for that, right, I think I think I don't know anyway, Man,
- 1:44Speaker 2: congratso on everything.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's been dope to see.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You know what's crazy is I think you and your
- 1:49Speaker 2: team are so good at Like I feel like you're
- 1:53Speaker 2: an amazing marketer and everything that you do seems to
- 1:58Speaker 2: be very like on purpose and with a tent.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Does that make sense what I'm saying?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Like, like, do you feel like you've started to kind
- 2:07Speaker 2: of figure out because once you fall into a record
- 2:10Speaker 2: like Soak City, like you're just like learning on the go,
- 2:13Speaker 2: Like do you feel like you're finally kind of getting
- 2:15Speaker 2: like a real understanding of this music shit and just
- 2:18Speaker 2: the industry and.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Bro Like, I'm learning at this ship is not as
- 2:21Speaker 1: hard as like it's hard as shit like to succeed
- 2:24Speaker 1: at the highest level, right, But I'm learning that a
- 2:26Speaker 1: lot of this shit is just like it'd be really
- 2:32Speaker 1: just one plus two equals three. But like niggas at
- 2:35Speaker 1: like it took them a long ass time to get
- 2:37Speaker 1: to the top. They're not gonna tell you it's just
- 2:38Speaker 1: one plus two or three. Niggas, they're gonna make it
- 2:40Speaker 1: overly complicated. But this shit now, it's not that like
- 2:44Speaker 1: it's not to me. It's like it's not that much.
- 2:47Speaker 1: It's not too much of a secret sauce. It's just like, Okay,
- 2:50Speaker 1: is this hard? Just's gonna be on top of this shit?
- 2:52Speaker 1: M h. Is he gonna have a nice routine or
- 2:54Speaker 1: where he can stay focused? You know, because there's so
- 2:56Speaker 1: much success and so much coming at you. Are you
- 3:00Speaker 1: going to stay Are you going to continue to develop
- 3:03Speaker 1: and go up creatively? Yeah? Are you gonna get burnt out?
- 3:08Speaker 1: You know what I mean? It's all that type of shit,
- 3:09Speaker 1: that's really what it is. It's really just your focus.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah, would you say because because you know, I think
- 3:14Speaker 2: what you just said is great, because most artists would
- 3:17Speaker 2: it would feel like, if you're an up and coming artist,
- 3:20Speaker 2: first of all, music has to resonate, be good. That's
- 3:23Speaker 2: the number one thing, right, So without that, like it
- 3:25Speaker 2: doesn't matter, right, but if you do have a good product,
- 3:29Speaker 2: I do feel like there are artists who overcomplicate the process.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Of the music industry, and that's what I think it.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And then they also kind of like, well, cyite themselves
- 3:36Speaker 2: out from dropping music, or cite themselves out from dropping
- 3:38Speaker 2: a piece of content, or maybe they drop a piece
- 3:40Speaker 2: of content and it doesn't perform well, and so then
- 3:42Speaker 2: they give up as opposed to just doing more of that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Like what would you say? Is kind of been the
- 3:47Speaker 2: one plus one equals to strategy that you guys have
- 3:51Speaker 2: been able to implement because you know you, I mean,
- 3:54Speaker 2: for whatever reason, anytime you guys decide like, hey, this
- 3:57Speaker 2: is a song we're going to focus on, it does
- 3:59Speaker 2: really well.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So I mean I think I'm just in my bag
- 4:04Speaker 1: right now, like I'm in my pocket, like I know
- 4:06Speaker 1: what's gonna work, and not necessarily like, oh, I know
- 4:09Speaker 1: it's gonna be a hit. That's not what I'm saying.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm saying, like I know what I should drop. Like
- 4:14Speaker 1: I know, like, okay, rock hibs had to come out
- 4:16Speaker 1: at that time, right, did we know do exactly what
- 4:19Speaker 1: it did? Know? But like my friends were telling me,
- 4:21Speaker 1: it's hard, So let's drop that shit, right, they told
- 4:23Speaker 1: me it was hard. I dropped that shit. They told
- 4:25Speaker 1: me everything else was hard. I dropped it. They gonna
- 4:27Speaker 1: tell me what was right. They're not gonna leave me wrong.
- 4:29Speaker 2: But like, once you put the music, Okay, so let's
- 4:31Speaker 2: say you're like, okay, rock your hips. Obviously you did
- 4:33Speaker 2: the remix with Sweetie, the Originals, got Blue Bucks and
- 4:36Speaker 2: Ogz on a right, yeah, But like what are the
- 4:40Speaker 2: things that I mean because obviously you're with the Empire,
- 4:43Speaker 2: so they have like a great digital team. But like
- 4:45Speaker 2: for you as an artist, like, what are the things
- 4:47Speaker 2: that you're like, Okay, it's album time, we're gonna put
- 4:51Speaker 2: out this song. I I know that I'm not the
- 4:54Speaker 2: only like you're not the only variable involved when you
- 4:57Speaker 2: put out music. But for the things that you're responsible for,
- 5:00Speaker 2: for the things that you can control when it comes
- 5:02Speaker 2: to pushing pushing music, what are those things like that
- 5:04Speaker 2: you feel like you're like you've figured it out.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I will say, like, and when it comes to like
- 5:13Speaker 1: when like when it comes to making these albums, it's
- 5:16Speaker 1: like it's a lot easier to just put some shit
- 5:18Speaker 1: together based off what you already have rather than trying
- 5:20Speaker 1: to cook. Okay, like this album is called three undred
- 5:22Speaker 1: degrees let's make three hundred ten degrees music. Mm hm no, Like,
- 5:26Speaker 1: let's let's grab the songs what we got right and
- 5:28Speaker 1: like been working on right, that's what we do, like
- 5:32Speaker 1: I mean, and shit, that's what what's crazy is that
- 5:35Speaker 1: that's what I did for Lottery Pick, like before I
- 5:37Speaker 1: had the team and all that shit. But like I'm
- 5:40Speaker 1: not thinking, you know what I mean, Like shit, and
- 5:43Speaker 1: that's the same thing now, Like it's just so it's
- 5:45Speaker 1: easy for me and I'm not notice like that's all
- 5:47Speaker 1: we're doing, Like I noticed that. Shit, it's some other
- 5:50Speaker 1: niggas are just going to like overthink it and wait
- 5:52Speaker 1: a year and you know what I mean, Like, no,
- 5:54Speaker 1: we already have the album is already sitting in front
- 5:56Speaker 1: of you for sure.
- 5:57Speaker 2: You know what's funny is like anytime we talk, I
- 5:59Speaker 2: feel like recently I've had a few conversations with like
- 6:04Speaker 2: folks in regarding like the Kendrick moment that happened, and
- 6:07Speaker 2: like kind of like LA in general in terms of
- 6:10Speaker 2: quote unquote hit records has had like a serious drought.
- 6:14Speaker 2: But the one exception to that drought, whether it's been
- 6:16Speaker 2: a year or two, however long the quote unquote drought
- 6:18Speaker 2: has been, has been Soak City, Right, So, like Soak
- 6:21Speaker 2: City is like the the record that got to number
- 6:25Speaker 2: one out of LA at radio in multiple formats. And
- 6:29Speaker 2: you know, I remember you getting booked in Florida and shit,
- 6:31Speaker 2: like fuck nine ten months ago, Like do you feel
- 6:35Speaker 2: like you're like any weight of like the LA representation
- 6:41Speaker 2: nationwide on your shoulders now?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Because I feel like LA don't make me feel like
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm just that nigga. Like LA doesn't make me feel like, oh,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you're doing it for us, bro right. I feel like
- 6:53Speaker 1: when it comes to stats in these songs like y'all
- 6:56Speaker 1: singing my shit because ain't nobody else shit to sing, right,
- 6:59Speaker 1: But it's like I don't feel like, oh yeah, like
- 7:03Speaker 1: LA hasn't embraced you. I feel like certain people have,
- 7:06Speaker 1: but I feel like as a culture, like LA, like
- 7:10Speaker 1: it's not that it's not like how it was for Kendrick,
- 7:12Speaker 1: which I'm not saying it should be that because it
- 7:14Speaker 1: also wasn't like that for Kendrick. Initially it took him
- 7:17Speaker 1: a while to get I didn't know you know, well,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you were fucking like seven years old young.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Like when Kendrick first came out, like he was like,
- 7:24Speaker 2: I mean, look, he is a conscious rapper technically, right,
- 7:27Speaker 2: So it's like it took a lot. It really took
- 7:30Speaker 2: Like Dre he did that watch out for Detox freestyle,
- 7:34Speaker 2: and but initially it was very, very like Kendrick almost
- 7:39Speaker 2: existed outside of the ecosystem of like quote unquote LA rap.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And I feel like, do you I do think that
- 7:46Speaker 2: there is something to be said about like you're just
- 7:48Speaker 2: a kid having fun. And I think a lot of
- 7:51Speaker 2: times in LA, like we get wrapped up in like
- 7:54Speaker 2: artists who might be affiliated or might be quote unquote
- 7:57Speaker 2: gangster rappers, and so I feel like you're kind of
- 8:00Speaker 2: just doing your own thing, your own way, just making music,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and I feel like it's just you're just you're just
- 8:05Speaker 2: on positive vibes, bro, like you're doing you.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So I think LA's fun. I mean, you saw it
- 8:08Speaker 1: out the Novo, Bro.
- 8:09Speaker 2: That's a big deal pretty big and that was like
- 8:12Speaker 2: your graduation party, right.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, like, I don't know, I think it's
- 8:20Speaker 1: it's important for me, I mean even talking about this now,
- 8:22Speaker 1: which is important for me to be grateful and appreciate
- 8:25Speaker 1: what's here right and now what's not for sure? If
- 8:28Speaker 1: I if I think like that, that's the average human.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And then you're gonna be You're gonna psych yourself out
- 8:35Speaker 2: and you're gonna I mean, that's kind of the two
- 8:38Speaker 2: plus two. They're the one plus one equals two thing.
- 8:40Speaker 2: When people start thinking about what they don't get instead
- 8:42Speaker 2: of worried like you know what I mean, that's where
- 8:43Speaker 2: they start getting fucking they overthink it.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, yeah, I don't know. I think two
- 8:49Speaker 1: is like I already don't be in LA like that.
- 8:51Speaker 1: So I think it's like if I did a big
- 8:52Speaker 1: ass show and I've seen people pop out, I'd be like,
- 8:54Speaker 1: oh yeah they do that.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean you had a big show. I
- 8:56Speaker 2: mean look and then obviously getting off tour with OJZ
- 8:59Speaker 2: had to be done. Oh yeah, bro, that shit was
- 9:02Speaker 2: crazy because Ojiz is like another one of those guys
- 9:04Speaker 2: who's like, you know, Shoreline and OGZ for you know
- 9:10Speaker 2: one of the I mean, their wave has been so
- 9:13Speaker 2: influential on LA culture and just like LA artists, like
- 9:15Speaker 2: I think a Draco and Shoreline is kind of like
- 9:18Speaker 2: a lot of the influence in terms of like a
- 9:21Speaker 2: whole generation of quote unquote LA rap.
- 9:24Speaker 1: So shout out to OGZ. Good guy, not for sure
- 9:28Speaker 1: one of the most genuine niggas I met, bro and like,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I have so many conversations with him while on that
- 9:32Speaker 1: tour that I have nothing to do with music and
- 9:34Speaker 1: nothing to do with bullshit, right, And I like learned
- 9:37Speaker 1: so much from him, you know what I mean, Because
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's like outside of his workshit because this is our
- 9:42Speaker 1: job at the end of the yare right, But outside
- 9:44Speaker 1: of this workship, O Jiz is on a different level.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Whether or not he shows the world that which I mean,
- 9:48Speaker 1: you know, everybody kind of keeps it themselves, like you know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you don't give the world one hundred percent of who
- 9:52Speaker 1: you are, right right, But like, oh, jeseus a cool
- 9:55Speaker 1: nigga man.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And he's just sharp man, you know, whether it's putting out.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think he's got his.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Makeup line or no, his eyelashes, he's got the Marisco spot.
- 10:04Speaker 2: He's just an entrepreneur. He's a hustler, you know what
- 10:06Speaker 2: I mean for sure, and he's under I feel just
- 10:07Speaker 2: like somehow he's still underrated somehow.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, oh Gez, I feel like, oh niggas aint gonnappreciate
- 10:13Speaker 1: O GZ to you not here no more wow, because
- 10:15Speaker 1: it's like you gotta think, Bro, like my nigga's doing
- 10:17Speaker 1: shows in Boise for sure, like like so downid Boise.
- 10:22Speaker 1: We're doing Salt Lake City. We're not just doing like
- 10:25Speaker 1: right like Bakersfield, Minnesota. Bro, we did Minnesota, Chicago, fucking
- 10:31Speaker 1: crazy places. Yeah, It's like, bro, who else I'm gonna
- 10:35Speaker 1: going to it with?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Right?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Was it pretty? Uh?
- 10:38Speaker 2: The Sweety remix was Whose idea was that? Was that
- 10:40Speaker 2: your idea of reaching out? Or did she reach out
- 10:42Speaker 2: or no?
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah? That me and the team got that right? I
- 10:44Speaker 1: mean strategic, Bro, we need some females. I think I
- 10:47Speaker 1: put a lot of niggas on songs. So great video.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah that she was crazy?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, sweet is She's also somebody who's fucking just cool.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Sweety's coolest. Fuck. I remember at the music video when
- 11:00Speaker 1: we were talking, bro, like she not to talk about
- 11:04Speaker 1: exactly what we're talking about, but she's like aware, she's
- 11:06Speaker 1: super awake, she's.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Super sharp, super hip, and she's very like you know,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you would think like she's like, you know, she's had
- 11:13Speaker 2: her on McDonald's meal, bro, So she's like, fuck, I.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Forgot she had that shit. Damn. She's really a joint,
- 11:18Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Like, but talk to her, you wouldn't even get that, like,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you know, like she's not unapproachable.
- 11:23Speaker 1: She's also like yeah she doesn't. She's cool as fuck. Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: she didn't give like oh you know what I mean,
- 11:28Speaker 1: Like she was just super cool like us. He graduate too,
- 11:30Speaker 1: shout out to Sweden. Forgot she had the meal. Damn, Bro.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Now that you're out of high school and you're very successful,
- 11:41Speaker 2: would you ever consider getting like a degree just to
- 11:44Speaker 2: get a degree.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. I think.
- 11:48Speaker 2: College is gonna be there forever. It'll never not be there,
- 11:51Speaker 2: that's for sure. Someone will always take your money to
- 11:53Speaker 2: go to school.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Right. But I think like if I went back, I
- 11:56Speaker 1: would make it. It would be intentional. How you said,
- 11:59Speaker 1: everything's seems like I do it on purpose. I would
- 12:01Speaker 1: go back, maybe make the album around where I go,
- 12:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Some shit like that'd be hard.
- 12:06Speaker 1: What would you go to school for? Do you have
- 12:08Speaker 1: any idea this business? Because that's what I was, That's
- 12:10Speaker 1: all I was on before this shit.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, talk to me, man. You know there was one
- 12:15Speaker 2: of the to me, the most flagrant outside of the
- 12:19Speaker 2: freshman cover having the not like Us tagline, but the
- 12:23Speaker 2: fact there is no one from LA and to me,
- 12:25Speaker 2: the biggest emission of that cover would have been yourself.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Was that something that bothered you not making that cover?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Of course in them like in that moment, But then
- 12:36Speaker 1: I like kind of got out of it because it's
- 12:39Speaker 1: a lot of niggas I didn't got snubbed. It's a
- 12:40Speaker 1: lot of niggas. I was great NBA players and got
- 12:43Speaker 1: snubbed from the All Star Game, great NFL players that
- 12:45Speaker 1: didn't make the pro bo. I don't mean I'm not
- 12:48Speaker 1: great or I can't be great or whatever, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 1: whatever bar that is that they have set for, like, oh,
- 12:53Speaker 1: this is what qualifies you to be at XL cool, right,
- 12:56Speaker 1: And I'm not here to say if I qualify or not.
- 12:58Speaker 1: That's up to them. That's theayless. At the end of
- 13:00Speaker 1: the day, it's one hundred fucking lists out here as
- 13:02Speaker 1: complex it's this is that if you just had to
- 13:04Speaker 1: make your own fucking top ten list, it don't matter.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But like, shit, do I think I should have been
- 13:09Speaker 1: on there? Yes? But am I onn some like FX Excel, No,
- 13:13Speaker 1: because they could put it. Sure, they can put whoever
- 13:14Speaker 1: they want to. It's their list. Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I just look at it, like, you know, there's
- 13:19Speaker 2: been some all time great guys who never was on
- 13:23Speaker 2: the Freshman list.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You know, they never put Drake on. You I think
- 13:27Speaker 1: about that, you know, was that controversial? I wasn't because
- 13:30Speaker 1: I wasn't tapped.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Well, I think that what ended up happening was by
- 13:34Speaker 2: the time, like it would have made sense to put
- 13:36Speaker 2: him on, they just gave him his own cover.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Oh, which shit, it is what it is.
- 13:42Speaker 2: And then the other thing too, was like I feel
- 13:44Speaker 2: like this I was just talking a big extra plug
- 13:46Speaker 2: and he was just saying how like he was just
- 13:49Speaker 2: a little disappointed because this year's like class was not
- 13:53Speaker 2: a like not everybody wanted to rap and shit, And
- 13:56Speaker 2: he's like, yo, like this is the freshman cover, Like
- 13:59Speaker 2: you gotta fuck rap on this shit.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I think music is changing on top
- 14:05Speaker 1: of I mean, that's really what it is. Think about
- 14:08Speaker 1: niggas ain't rapping no more, Like even me, I'm not
- 14:11Speaker 1: the most lyrical nigga.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Right, but I feel like if I mean, you could
- 14:14Speaker 2: tell me if I'm wrong, but if you were to
- 14:16Speaker 2: be on that cover, you would have had something.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I'm not saying that, that's what I'm saying.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I'm not saying I wouldn't. I'm just trying to give like, okay,
- 14:22Speaker 1: like you know, you know what I mean, Like you
- 14:25Speaker 1: would have rapped though, Hell yeah, I feel like two,
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think a lot of niggas don't appreciate, not even appreciate,
- 14:31Speaker 1: but they don't like see the XXL shit the same
- 14:33Speaker 1: way Big X may Big X may see that and remember,
- 14:36Speaker 1: oh yeah, this is XS. So I grew up watching
- 14:38Speaker 1: this shit my generations, like we only remember twenty sixteen.
- 14:42Speaker 1: After that we blinked.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Right, and some of those were just like there was
- 14:46Speaker 2: some interesting cipher moments like the XXS ten Tasion moment
- 14:50Speaker 2: was pretty crazy.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So that's what I'm saying. You see how it was
- 14:52Speaker 1: like started to like it was not in my opinion,
- 14:55Speaker 1: but I'm saying on some like big hip hop shit,
- 14:57Speaker 1: it started to go down.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it was more like once the cloud SoundCloud error
- 15:00Speaker 2: kind of kicked in. I feel like the freshman ciphers
- 15:04Speaker 2: just got a lot more water down and it was
- 15:06Speaker 2: like some of them would go viral because of like
- 15:08Speaker 2: how interesting they were, how bad they were.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And then I mean even think now in the age
- 15:13Speaker 1: of content bro, like it's faciently continue to be that.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Do you feel like because we are a content addicted
- 15:20Speaker 2: society and that can work for us and against us.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I feel like consumers are just they're so desensitized to
- 15:28Speaker 2: everything because it's just content, content content, whether you're watching
- 15:32Speaker 2: YouTube documentaries, whether you're watching reels TikTok. As an artist
- 15:37Speaker 2: being in the content era of music is, would you
- 15:41Speaker 2: say that the content side is as important as the
- 15:46Speaker 2: music now.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think it's funny, like you asked me that because
- 15:50Speaker 1: you look at somebody like me, like only have two
- 15:51Speaker 1: hundred thousand followers as of today, right right, but I
- 15:54Speaker 1: have a lot more records and niggas that have one
- 15:57Speaker 1: million followers. And I think it's two side this shit.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It's a side of like people that are entertained on
- 16:03Speaker 1: Instagram and tik talk and shit, and like they have
- 16:06Speaker 1: entertaining content. But then it's the side of like who's
- 16:08Speaker 1: actually streaming?
- 16:10Speaker 2: Well, I think too, Like what I mean, I think
- 16:13Speaker 2: a lot of the genesis of like people discovering Silk
- 16:17Speaker 2: City was through social media, right, So it was like
- 16:20Speaker 2: I want to say, like, who are the early people
- 16:23Speaker 2: who danced to it?
- 16:24Speaker 1: But see, Okay, so it's like c J. Stroudstorm the
- 16:27Speaker 1: bar like et cetera. Right, But what the point I'm
- 16:29Speaker 1: about to make here is people heard the song because
- 16:33Speaker 1: of people dancing, not my face, not content that I did. Nowadays, bro,
- 16:39Speaker 1: people won't have a fucking anywhere near a hit, right,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but they'll go do like one of the mic videos
- 16:45Speaker 1: and they will see their face. Oh yo, you're the dude,
- 16:47Speaker 1: You're right, and then you get eight hundred thousand fucking followers,
- 16:49Speaker 1: not eight hundred thousand streams like that.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Fat dude that looks like Peter Griffin they got. Do
- 16:54Speaker 2: you remember that fat dude that like the nerdy fat
- 16:56Speaker 2: dude who dressed like Peter Griffin on the white dude
- 16:57Speaker 2: who dressed like Peter Griffin on purpose and he did
- 16:59Speaker 2: the micro performance. It's like I know that guy, I
- 17:01Speaker 2: don't know what his fucking name is. But like you said,
- 17:06Speaker 2: is the consumption of the product matching up to whatever
- 17:10Speaker 2: virality you might have, or because motherfuckers can be like yo,
- 17:15Speaker 2: I have you know on the radar freestyle that went crazy,
- 17:19Speaker 2: which is great, but it's like, is that is the
- 17:24Speaker 2: are you converting to people going to consuming you a
- 17:28Speaker 2: shit or buying tickets to a show?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, these niggas, No, nobody's selling tickets. But I think
- 17:34Speaker 1: that shit'sn't a drop down because I think it was
- 17:36Speaker 1: starting to happen as a I mean, and everybody knows this,
- 17:38Speaker 1: Like these niggas are like labels are signing these people
- 17:40Speaker 1: and it's not doing anything correct. So like when shit
- 17:44Speaker 1: like that happens, of change always occurs. Now how long
- 17:48Speaker 1: that takes? But you know, I don't think it'd be
- 17:52Speaker 1: like that first because it doesn't make sense and it's
- 17:54Speaker 1: a waste of investment.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And like, honestly, if you're a label, I mean, unfortunately,
- 18:01Speaker 2: it's like you're kind of like helping like one out
- 18:08Speaker 2: of ten artists. If you're a major label hits. You know,
- 18:11Speaker 2: if you could get like one, Let's say you're Atlantic
- 18:13Speaker 2: and you signed ten artists and one.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Of them is Cardi B. You're like, okay, well, Cardi B.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Is gonna make up for all the money we might
- 18:18Speaker 1: have lost off like that keep the lights on. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: exactly so, And that's why I think I've had a
- 18:25Speaker 1: conversation with my team about this before. It's like, Bro,
- 18:27Speaker 1: imagine we would have had the traditional artists today that
- 18:30Speaker 1: like every week, another nigga blows up on TikTok, cuts
- 18:32Speaker 1: in a video or content whatever and then like has
- 18:35Speaker 1: five hundred K in the first three months or eight
- 18:36Speaker 1: hundred K whatever. Right, But it's like I could have
- 18:39Speaker 1: been that, but we wouldn't have had shit or any records.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And it's like what's online motion without any records? Like
- 18:44Speaker 1: that's what pays the bills, bro. But nowadays, with artists
- 18:49Speaker 1: becoming content creators, Bro, they're fucking eating off just that
- 18:53Speaker 1: this is true. So it's like, I don't know, It's
- 18:55Speaker 1: like it's both sides, but I feel like with me,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm one of the like I'm a unique case because
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm proving again and again that like, Bro, at the
- 19:03Speaker 1: end of the day, music is what matters, and until
- 19:06Speaker 1: that changes, until it's like nah, bro, if you're not
- 19:08Speaker 1: doing this good ass content, you're not streaming. But until then, shit,
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm just gonna make good music, like because take away
- 19:15Speaker 1: social media. My shit's on the radio.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Well, I just saw you too. You did a speaking
- 19:19Speaker 2: engagement in Phoenix.
- 19:20Speaker 1: What was that about? Man?
- 19:24Speaker 2: That was like, are you like, are you gonna start
- 19:27Speaker 2: doing more of that type of shit?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Yeah? I think it's this time I get into like
- 19:31Speaker 1: who I really am and letting people know it's different
- 19:34Speaker 1: sides than me. It's not just the music shit, right,
- 19:36Speaker 1: because everybody sees it so sicky shit and then like okay,
- 19:39Speaker 1: it has an opinion or talk shit or whatever they're
- 19:41Speaker 1: gonna do. But it's like, no, I'm over here too,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like cause the other guys
- 19:45Speaker 1: are like over there with all the bullshit, but like
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm over here making sure we're straight on like the
- 19:50Speaker 1: corporate side. So then if all this shit collapse, I
- 19:53Speaker 1: still could be that face that could represent you know
- 19:55Speaker 1: what I mean, because it's like who else can to
- 19:56Speaker 1: represent black youth on that level? That's some crazy shit
- 20:00Speaker 1: that's real.
- 20:01Speaker 2: So it's like, yo, if the music goes away, like
- 20:03Speaker 2: at least I like like you're like, that's the thing
- 20:05Speaker 2: is like the name of your guys's company is high IQ, right,
- 20:08Speaker 2: So it's like you know, just that brand in general
- 20:11Speaker 2: is like you should have something of merit to say
- 20:14Speaker 2: people that that people can at least gravitate towards.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And I used to be like, damn, you know artists,
- 20:21Speaker 1: big artists have like the label behind, like the label
- 20:24Speaker 1: with the group or like whoever they hang out with,
- 20:26Speaker 1: and anesthetic and all this ship like that's the new thing.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Like everybody has like a look or a feel, right,
- 20:32Speaker 1: But then like me, I used to be like damn,
- 20:34Speaker 1: so like my aesthetic gotta give. But now I think
- 20:36Speaker 1: about it, it's like, bro, hi, i Q is that
- 20:38Speaker 1: and it's bigger. It's bigger than what I wear. It's
- 20:41Speaker 1: bigger than who I hang out with, because a lot
- 20:42Speaker 1: of niggas aesthetics stop at their fashion or who they
- 20:45Speaker 1: hang out.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Buddies are right, right, But me now is to hey, yo,
- 20:49Speaker 2: that fucking Kendrick line where he was talking about Yadia,
- 20:51Speaker 2: I don't give.
- 20:51Speaker 1: A funk who you hang with. I was like that,
- 20:53Speaker 1: that's funny. It's everything. It's everything, bro, It's fucking everything.
- 20:58Speaker 1: It's like the high Q be anything. It's it's not
- 21:01Speaker 1: just one thing, and it's so much more to me
- 21:04Speaker 1: than just music. Yeah, I think. I think that's that's
- 21:07Speaker 1: true too.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Is like a lot of fans, unfortunately, are very shallow
- 21:10Speaker 2: and so like they might they're like weirdly enough associating
- 21:17Speaker 2: like your validation or how much they want to fuck
- 21:21Speaker 2: with you based on who you're hanging out with, which
- 21:24Speaker 2: is weird. But that's a thing. I mean, but you've
- 21:27Speaker 2: kind of skated through that because you're just making undeniable
- 21:30Speaker 2: hit records, so you don't have to worry about like
- 21:32Speaker 2: being in these weird ass fucking studio sessions or being
- 21:35Speaker 2: like the awkward dude y'all, let's get a flick for
- 21:38Speaker 2: I G.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean, Bro, I don't even brouh. Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: we're not even in the mix for think about that
- 21:44Speaker 1: and that and that's not necessarily a good thing. Think
- 21:47Speaker 1: about it if I was, though, like, think about how
- 21:49Speaker 1: all these other guys I'm not no name, you know what,
- 21:51Speaker 1: You'll know what I'm talking about. How other guys are
- 21:53Speaker 1: moved around so like, oh, oh, hang out with these
- 21:56Speaker 1: guys for a minute, hang out over here, super weird dude,
- 22:00Speaker 1: weird and see it all the time. I'll be like,
- 22:02Speaker 1: oh yeah, And it gets to the point where like
- 22:05Speaker 1: you get to a certain level, and now everybody's friends,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but it's.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Like nobody but nobody's friends. Yeah, everybody's friends, but they're not. Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 2: And I feel like everything happens for a reason. And
- 22:15Speaker 2: I mean that's why I'm not like associated super early.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I think it's going to get to that point where
- 22:19Speaker 2: it's like, damn, we didn't fuck with them early. We
- 22:22Speaker 2: didn't fuck with them early, but now if we want
- 22:24Speaker 2: to fuck with them, we know we got to pay
- 22:25Speaker 2: that fee. Not even pay the fee, bro, But it's
- 22:28Speaker 2: like it's hard, it's a long line.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Bro.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Somebody else who wasn't necessarily back to our conversation earlier,
- 22:34Speaker 2: I would say necessarily embraced by l A early would
- 22:38Speaker 2: have been Tyler.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Holy shit, Tyler is a good fucking case he bro.
- 22:42Speaker 1: He got on.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And then it's like it's like everyone just forgot like
- 22:46Speaker 2: duties from LA and you think, what you think that's
- 22:48Speaker 2: not having to me? Look at look at what Look
- 22:51Speaker 2: at what I've done, look at what I've done right
- 22:53Speaker 2: where I'm at, and like where the world is right
- 22:56Speaker 2: now when it comes to like social media and culture,
- 22:59Speaker 2: we're not thinking about. And then look at me how
- 23:01Speaker 2: I look, how I carry myself.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that could be it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But I do think at the very least, at least sonically,
- 23:08Speaker 2: when I hear your records, it gives it gives me
- 23:12Speaker 2: West Coast you know, the BPM, you know, it kind
- 23:15Speaker 2: of gives me. Okay, this is some this is some
- 23:18Speaker 2: West Coast or origin the music as to where I
- 23:21Speaker 2: feel like when Tyler first came out, he was making
- 23:23Speaker 2: like Yonkers is like fucking seventy six vpms and it's
- 23:26Speaker 2: like a really dark record, you know. But I'm wondering
- 23:29Speaker 2: have you guys connected. I know you guys are both
- 23:31Speaker 2: at to pop out. I don't know if you guys
- 23:32Speaker 2: have had any words or chopped it up.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Or cross past. That's one thing I haven't met, bro,
- 23:36Speaker 1: And I feel like I'm supposed to, but I feel
- 23:38Speaker 1: like it hasn't happened because it's not me yet, right,
- 23:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It don't happen. Yeah, And
- 23:43Speaker 1: I feel like I've talked to people that are like, oh, yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 1: like you and Tyler will be dada like, oh I
- 23:47Speaker 1: know him, and that's something like No, when it's time,
- 23:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean, it's time, it will happen.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And when it's time to hit like when it you
- 23:52Speaker 1: know what I mean, when it's gonna hit boom, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: because it's for me. And I've said this in super
- 23:56Speaker 1: like many interviews. It's like it's not super important to
- 24:00Speaker 1: have just a feature, but I want to work with
- 24:01Speaker 1: him on production. Bro. He plays all his own instruments. Yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, I don't know what
- 24:06Speaker 1: could that do for me? Bro? Like how think about
- 24:08Speaker 1: how even him like he met Pharrell. I've seen that
- 24:11Speaker 1: video and like it changed the way he thought about music. Bro,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I haven't had that moment yet. But I met all
- 24:16Speaker 1: these like I met all these like street niggas, but
- 24:18Speaker 1: I haven't met somebody that's like a genius, a musical
- 24:20Speaker 1: genius that like may change the way I think, you
- 24:23Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like, that's the thing everybody wants
- 24:26Speaker 1: to Oh, whose niggas taking pictures with? What chain they
- 24:29Speaker 1: got was this? Bro? Let me meet for a Let
- 24:31Speaker 1: me meet Yeah, let me meet Tyler creator. We don't know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Because if you don't know what spark that could create, right,
- 24:38Speaker 2: especially you know it's in you know, it's in you.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm a student of the fucking game. These other niggas
- 24:43Speaker 1: are just within this shit and they're living it. They're
- 24:45Speaker 1: living whatever artists name they are. Me, I'm understanding that
- 24:48Speaker 1: it's my business and I'm gonna make sure this motherfucker
- 24:50Speaker 1: go up as long as as long as I just
- 24:52Speaker 1: listen and take shit in and I listen. I love that, man,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I love that.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I was thinking too, like for you, you know, you
- 25:00Speaker 2: have a company now, so but you're also an eighteen
- 25:03Speaker 2: year old kid. Are you interested in finding other artist
- 25:08Speaker 2: or is it too early for that?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Just way too early. I think people may look at
- 25:14Speaker 1: me on something like people e DM me and you
- 25:15Speaker 1: way oh damn bro like this that that. But it's like, bro,
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm not even in a position to put you on, right,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I don't think. Yeah. I think that that is like
- 25:23Speaker 1: a very terrible.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Attitude or approach rather not attitude to music is like
- 25:32Speaker 2: thinking that there's like gate keepers, because then if you
- 25:35Speaker 2: think that that's your path, like oh, someone has the
- 25:37Speaker 2: power to quote unquote put me on, yeah, then you
- 25:40Speaker 2: have like a then you have a boogey man to
- 25:42Speaker 2: point at and be like, well, this fool just didn't
- 25:45Speaker 2: put me on, or you know, it was just like whatever,
- 25:48Speaker 2: I just went through this shit with with people saying
- 25:51Speaker 2: like I need to put more Arizona artists on, and
- 25:53Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, I can't put nobody on, Like who
- 25:55Speaker 2: the fuck you think?
- 25:56Speaker 1: You gotta think? Bro? If you go grab beers on
- 25:58Speaker 1: artists and you just be like post some page, what
- 26:01Speaker 1: the fuck is I gonna do?
- 26:02Speaker 2: I don't think people. And also done that with like
- 26:04Speaker 2: thirty Erason artists. So it's like you know, but it's
- 26:08Speaker 2: like like it's really like there's like there's this is
- 26:11Speaker 2: like you do you have a zero barrier to the
- 26:13Speaker 2: world as a musician. Yeah, it's straight to it's there's
- 26:16Speaker 2: a straight to fan based connection. So if what you're
- 26:19Speaker 2: doing is resonating and you're playing with the algram and
- 26:22Speaker 2: you're putting the work in like that, that ain't got
- 26:25Speaker 2: shit to do with me, thog, you know what I'm.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Saying, Like, I mean shit.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's interesting though, because people will have that attitude like yo,
- 26:31Speaker 2: three one old baby sigmy man put me on. It's like, man,
- 26:33Speaker 2: like get your motion, get your work ethic together, get
- 26:37Speaker 2: your regimen together.
- 26:38Speaker 1: You fuck around and fuck yourself up trying to put
- 26:40Speaker 1: another nig on.
- 26:41Speaker 2: For sure, because it's like especially as an artist who
- 26:44Speaker 2: I don't think niggas understand.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Bro, if you do a song with somebody bro and
- 26:48Speaker 1: that shit do not hit. But you're coming off a
- 26:50Speaker 1: seven song streak, that fucking eighth song, if it don't
- 26:53Speaker 1: hit your all, like you're done. Especially today, I think
- 26:56Speaker 1: back in the day, Back in the day, niggas could
- 26:59Speaker 1: like kind of like trickle down and like pop back
- 27:01Speaker 1: because there's no social media, like a nigga disappear and
- 27:04Speaker 1: probably be straight all the time. Man, oh my god,
- 27:07Speaker 1: especially with Twitter and social media, they'll get bashed. Bro.
- 27:10Speaker 1: You don't do that, bro. So it's like, even with me,
- 27:12Speaker 1: it's like super strategic. Bro. How you said this like intentionally? Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 1: because we know nigga we planing? What fire nigga?
- 27:18Speaker 2: You bro?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Especially with me, Bro, I'm at. I'm not at, you
- 27:23Speaker 1: know what I mean. I can't call no big guy
- 27:24Speaker 1: to help me. We make the wrong step.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's the l Was there anybody who you were trying
- 27:30Speaker 2: to get on the Soak City remix or almost got
- 27:33Speaker 2: on the Soak City Remix that just didn't quite come
- 27:38Speaker 2: to fruition because I'm assuming everybody was trying to get
- 27:43Speaker 2: on it.
- 27:44Speaker 1: No, A couple of niggas was trying to get on that,
- 27:46Speaker 1: but it got to the point where it was too
- 27:47Speaker 1: many fucking people cause we started saying like not saying yes,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but it was more you know me, I'm like.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Because it ended up being what Blue Bucks, Blue Face
- 27:55Speaker 2: and Oz Tiger was yg blue Bus Clan Okay, because
- 28:01Speaker 2: like I heard, because I was thinking, fuck, Chris Brown
- 28:03Speaker 2: would be crazy on the fucking Solk City.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Bro. Anybody you got to think, Bro, anybody could did it?
- 28:08Speaker 1: For sure? Yeah? I mean it was a hell of
- 28:11Speaker 1: a lineup. Yeah, anybody could did it. I think it was.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I think I created one of them songs that didn't
- 28:15Speaker 1: matter like who was on it.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Also, like the original gets played more than the remix,
- 28:20Speaker 2: which is also that's that's all.
- 28:21Speaker 1: The remix did is promo for the original.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Sure, uh your sound? We know kind of like the
- 28:30Speaker 2: records we've gotten from me so far, and they're all
- 28:32Speaker 2: very much in the same kind of vein of like
- 28:33Speaker 2: party music. Is there any plans to kind of like
- 28:37Speaker 2: try to step out of your comfort zone? Maybe not
- 28:40Speaker 2: this album, because you know what your fans want. No, no, no,
- 28:42Speaker 2: this album has as But this is the thing I
- 28:46Speaker 2: think now people are gonna see Okay, Like there's party
- 28:50Speaker 2: songs because people would dance to them. Of course, if
- 28:52Speaker 2: people would dance in my shit, I can't control that.
- 28:55Speaker 2: The only song I intentionally made party songs too was
- 28:59Speaker 2: Soak City Rock your Hips, Pink Whitney, back it up
- 29:04Speaker 2: in the other song that's like a little bounty maybe
- 29:06Speaker 2: a little bit, but right, I'm telling you songs I
- 29:08Speaker 2: intention like, I put that behind. That's the energy I'm
- 29:11Speaker 2: putting like, you know what I mean. So this album
- 29:14Speaker 2: three hundred ten degrees, Bro, it doesn't sound like fucking so.
- 29:17Speaker 2: It doesn't sound like rocky hibs. And I think now
- 29:19Speaker 2: people are gonna appreciate his beat selection, like talking about me, people,
- 29:23Speaker 2: we're gonna finally see, okay, this nigga does have b selection.
- 29:25Speaker 2: But the thing is this, right, people don't understand. You
- 29:27Speaker 2: got to keep the fucking lights on. Bro.
- 29:29Speaker 1: You have to Oh this sounds stead of out nigga?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Are you paying my bills? Right? Because if I fucking
- 29:34Speaker 1: fall off, then what then you feel off? Bro? Let
- 29:37Speaker 1: me do what I gotta do. I think people pick
- 29:39Speaker 1: the lights on. People don't understand the music business, bro,
- 29:42Speaker 1: people because I think people are so caught up in
- 29:44Speaker 1: like the all this, like y'all don't know, Bro, you
- 29:46Speaker 1: don't know what I got. I could probably, Bro, I
- 29:48Speaker 1: can have some songs right now that I'd be like, yeah, bro,
- 29:51Speaker 1: like me and my homies, fuck with it. I know
- 29:53Speaker 1: kids gonna fuck with it. But if they don't, like,
- 29:56Speaker 1: if they don't feel like, if everybody else don't feel like, no,
- 29:58Speaker 1: that's it, then it's not gonna you know. I mean,
- 30:01Speaker 1: so like you know, like for sure, just be patient
- 30:03Speaker 1: and let me figure this shit out, because I feel
- 30:05Speaker 1: like not even I feel like, Bro, I feel like
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm a musical genius, bro, honestly, and I feel like
- 30:11Speaker 1: all I can do to prove that to everybody is
- 30:13Speaker 1: to continue to work no matter what I say, you
- 30:16Speaker 1: know what I mean, that's all that matters. Action is
- 30:18Speaker 1: way stronger than words. So you know, I'm saying that
- 30:21Speaker 1: respectfully and humble, but I just have to keep proving myself.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And after this album, people will see like, oh shit,
- 30:26Speaker 1: not necessarily like I'm not saying you're gonna listen to
- 30:28Speaker 1: this album and think I'm yeah, right, it's not what
- 30:30Speaker 1: I'm saying. I'm not saying that this is gonna be
- 30:32Speaker 1: the best album. I ever fucking dropped. But what I'm
- 30:34Speaker 1: saying is I want you to watch my growth and
- 30:36Speaker 1: start to look at my trajectory like, Okay, he's getting better.
- 30:39Speaker 1: That's what people don't track. People track clout fucking chains
- 30:42Speaker 1: and money. Track the progress, track the progress because making
- 30:46Speaker 1: progress is better and way different than making money. Watch
- 30:49Speaker 1: just watch it, bro, Yeah you listen.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I mean the progress has to be documented because if
- 30:55Speaker 2: you go from your first record being platinum and being
- 30:58Speaker 2: recorded on an iPhone, it's I mean, that's about as
- 31:02Speaker 2: ground zero as it can possibly get.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So yeah, when you hear when you hear the album,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you'll be like, okay, oh shit, You'll you'll be able
- 31:11Speaker 1: to now because it's so many songs, you'll be able to,
- 31:16Speaker 1: you know, kind of say, okay, this is obviously for
- 31:18Speaker 1: his kids. I mean for the kids, right, Okay, Now
- 31:20Speaker 1: I funk with this, and I see where he's going, Like,
- 31:23Speaker 1: it's some records on it that are going to surprise you.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And I'm not saying yeah, yeah, you know, artists, we
- 31:28Speaker 1: always try to oversell our ship this of course. Yeah
- 31:30Speaker 1: you're listening to see for sure, what was it like
- 31:35Speaker 1: for you?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Did you understand the gravity and the just the moment
- 31:40Speaker 2: of coming out for the pop out. You know, I still
- 31:43Speaker 2: don't crazy night. I mean it's gonna be like like
- 31:47Speaker 2: a night in hip hop history, you know.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And that's what I'm saying is I still don't because
- 31:50Speaker 1: like because you must have brought you out. Yeah, I
- 31:53Speaker 1: still like I know what it is. But you gotta
- 31:56Speaker 1: think it's still so current. It's still like when you're
- 32:01Speaker 1: in it, you're not really Yeah, It's like it's just
- 32:04Speaker 1: that's right now, right, I think we're still in that era.
- 32:07Speaker 1: We're still in that Drake Kendrick era. Sure, right, But
- 32:10Speaker 1: it's like I think you guys lived through a lot
- 32:12Speaker 1: of shit. You guys lift through a lot of historical
- 32:14Speaker 1: hip hop moments to where you guys understand early, especially
- 32:17Speaker 1: with you guys being older, noticing other moments that she
- 32:20Speaker 1: may not have been a part of, and now that
- 32:22Speaker 1: some people were able to participate in it, now that like, oh,
- 32:25Speaker 1: I was a part of a legendary hip hop moment.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I think as I get older, I'll start to like
- 32:31Speaker 1: really understand more and more. I think I get it now.
- 32:33Speaker 1: But you gotta think it's like everybody out there as
- 32:35Speaker 1: old as fuck, bro older than me like it doesn't
- 32:38Speaker 1: hit yet, right, it doesn't hit yet, It'll hit later.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Were you able to meet Kendrick that night? Shook his
- 32:44Speaker 1: hand like on something like that? Cool? I mean shit,
- 32:46Speaker 1: you gotta think, bro, A lot of things can't even
- 32:49Speaker 1: fucking get a hold of Kendrick. So for sure that
- 32:51Speaker 1: was dope as fuck. I always wondered if Kendrick fucked
- 32:55Speaker 1: with me. I always wondered, like I think everybody's on,
- 33:00Speaker 1: like you know, once he popped back yard, like oh, like,
- 33:02Speaker 1: oh Kendrick doing the song. I'm not not on that ship.
- 33:04Speaker 1: That's not you know what I mean. That's that's a
- 33:06Speaker 1: headache alone, right right. But like I always be like, Damn,
- 33:09Speaker 1: do Kendrick fuck with me? Damn do this nigga fuck
- 33:11Speaker 1: with me? Because it's like one thing for like LA
- 33:13Speaker 1: artist to fuck with me, but it's one thing for
- 33:14Speaker 1: the top LA artist to fuck That's what really matters, right,
- 33:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, but I think what's
- 33:21Speaker 1: gonna happen, bro, And I think it's kind of happened.
- 33:24Speaker 1: It starts happening a little once. I once I drop
- 33:26Speaker 1: Rocot hips to happen. But I just need the dominoes
- 33:29Speaker 1: to start falling. I think, what's really gonna do with
- 33:31Speaker 1: bt you know what I mean? Like, I mean, shit
- 33:34Speaker 1: that's passing is not huh but bt BT Awards, that
- 33:37Speaker 1: for sure helped me a lot because I mean shit,
- 33:40Speaker 1: I was nominated, they said my name on TV. Hundreds
- 33:43Speaker 1: of thousands of people saw that ship, you know what
- 33:45Speaker 1: I mean, and it's like, hey, I'm doing this ship. Bro.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It's crazy even just talking about it, like it's so much.
- 33:53Speaker 1: But we're just gonna keep working, keep our head down,
- 33:55Speaker 1: and we're gonna look up one day and it's gonna
- 33:57Speaker 1: be beautiful.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You're an LA kid, but have you adopted the Texans
- 34:03Speaker 2: as your football team?
- 34:04Speaker 1: I'm a supporter, says you be outside with the Texans
- 34:08Speaker 1: the same way I'm a Laker fan, but I'm a
- 34:09Speaker 1: Clipper supporter, right, So I'm a Rams fan, but I'm
- 34:13Speaker 1: a Texan supporter.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, Plus, the Texans are the AFC. Rams
- 34:16Speaker 2: are your NFC. So it's like it's fairy. The only
- 34:18Speaker 2: time you really got to, you know, choose up is
- 34:20Speaker 2: if they each play each other in the Super Bowl.
- 34:22Speaker 1: It don't look like it's gonna be that. I don't think.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I don't know if that's gonna happen. Yeah, no, no, no,
- 34:25Speaker 1: the odds of that would be fucking crazy.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the Rams look like they're kind of you know, they're.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Not brother hold on, hold on, it's probably gonna be rebuilding.
- 34:33Speaker 1: And the Rams have a pattern. I don't know if
- 34:35Speaker 1: you've noticed. Give us like three four years, ass, give
- 34:39Speaker 1: us one strong year.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Well, they've also been fucked with injuries like Cooper c Pooking,
- 34:44Speaker 2: the coup is out.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gonna be. That's football, though, Yeah, that's football
- 34:49Speaker 1: for sure. Look twenty we're twenty eighteen, twenty twenty two. Yeah,
- 34:56Speaker 1: give us like twenty twenty six weeks. But you I
- 34:58Speaker 1: think it's coming right back to La. The Rents be
- 35:01Speaker 1: super hopefully. Shit, yeah, we'll see. Are you excited for
- 35:04Speaker 1: the Lakers and JJ Reddick to be the coach? That's
- 35:07Speaker 1: just sounds fake as fuck. Even you're saying that.
- 35:09Speaker 2: That's just like him and Lebron doing a podcast after
- 35:11Speaker 2: every game, and shit, that'd be funny if they didn't.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Bro these niggas. You know, it's wild, though. I feel
- 35:16Speaker 1: like the team chemistry will be there. I just don't
- 35:21Speaker 1: think it's like championship team. No, it's just not a
- 35:23Speaker 1: championship team. For sure, it's no championship team.
- 35:25Speaker 2: But then you see the way Lebron and eighty played
- 35:27Speaker 2: for Team USA, and you're like.
- 35:28Speaker 1: You're were the can y'all do that ship for the Lakers?
- 35:32Speaker 1: You know what I think it? You know, bro, like
- 35:34Speaker 1: niggas be getting fed up? Yeah, I think people forget
- 35:36Speaker 1: that like these at least we have an attitude personality
- 35:39Speaker 1: like nigga, I'm making thirty month. There's a lot of
- 35:41Speaker 1: egos in the locker room, and right, that's what I'm saying.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I think these brown as men.
- 35:45Speaker 2: When you're on the Lakers, they talk about you on
- 35:47Speaker 2: TV all fucking day and there's Hollywood. Yeah, well there's
- 35:50Speaker 2: just no way you don't even like if you try
- 35:52Speaker 2: to ignore stephen A. Smith or whoever, skip Bay lists
- 35:55Speaker 2: like that, shit will creep into your aura, Like you
- 35:58Speaker 2: know what I mean, start playing like shit, thinking like
- 36:01Speaker 2: you're on the Thunder, Like no one's talking about you
- 36:03Speaker 2: on the fucking Thunder.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Nigga. You can go to the Thunder and start dropping
- 36:06Speaker 1: thirty at night, nigga, quiet.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Nobody will say shit, Nick, Bro, That's what they barely
- 36:10Speaker 2: just started giving love the shade this past year for real,
- 36:13Speaker 2: like nationally, yeah, I mean like he's been bawling on
- 36:15Speaker 2: the fucking thunder.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I think this will be a big season for him.
- 36:18Speaker 1: But you know what it is, though, is I forgot.
- 36:21Speaker 1: It's like, I don't think a lot of people do this.
- 36:22Speaker 1: We started looking at these NBA teams for what they are.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Their businesses for sure, right and if these businesses is
- 36:27Speaker 1: not fucking booming, you're not gonna put them on TV. Niggas,
- 36:30Speaker 1: we don't care about them. Lakers, the Lakers. I think
- 36:32Speaker 1: the Lakers is more than winning. It's more than one
- 36:35Speaker 1: big business. It's big business. It's a fucking and Lebron
- 36:38Speaker 1: is more than winning. He's Lebron. Yeah, you know what
- 36:40Speaker 1: I mean, Like these are big ass brands. Like sure,
- 36:43Speaker 1: It's like, how can I the Lakers are equivalent to
- 36:45Speaker 1: an older artist that's torn off his ship from twenty
- 36:47Speaker 1: years ago? It makes sense. Have you been to the
- 36:50Speaker 1: Clippers new stadium now? Yet? It's fire bro, I need
- 36:54Speaker 1: to go.
- 36:55Speaker 2: The first night I went there, their app was down
- 36:56Speaker 2: and the whole place runs through this app. So I
- 36:58Speaker 2: was like, in like the VIP and they're like the food,
- 37:01Speaker 2: it'll register that you have it.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And you walk out with it so it'll charge you.
- 37:05Speaker 1: But the Apple was.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Down so I had so much free food. I was like,
- 37:08Speaker 2: oh shit, they're not charging me. Let me go get
- 37:10Speaker 2: some more.
- 37:11Speaker 1: No shit.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Shout out to Steve Balmer, Man, I cracked at least
- 37:14Speaker 2: three hundred dollars worth.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Of food on your ass.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Man.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Anyway, Look he's pissing three hundred dollars, he's for sure,
- 37:19Speaker 1: he's what.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Uh so your album is officially out three hundred and
- 37:25Speaker 2: ten degrees degrees man.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Uh.
- 37:29Speaker 2: For people who don't know, let's give them a point
- 37:32Speaker 2: of reference because I'll talk to like radio people who
- 37:35Speaker 2: are not necessarily the hippiest people in the world.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It's three one oh baby.
- 37:40Speaker 2: But no baby, people say three people say three ten baby.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah. At this point, I'm the fuck man.
- 37:46Speaker 2: That's I was gonna say, like, just for people to
- 37:47Speaker 2: know it's three one oh baby, not three ten baby.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Do you know? I think it like when I when
- 37:53Speaker 1: I won my first award and I'm on TV and shit,
- 37:56Speaker 1: I gotta tell you bruss you want it's not throughing
- 37:58Speaker 1: no baby. Hey guy, y'all know that three ten baby? Like? What? Well?
- 38:01Speaker 2: Three one o baby? They calling me something nigga. At
- 38:04Speaker 2: least they're calling you something. Man, Go support the album.
- 38:07Speaker 2: I'm sure you've got more visuals coming off of it already.
- 38:09Speaker 1: In the crazy fucking visuals.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Rock your hips going crazy a radio. Even Pink Whitney's
- 38:14Speaker 2: still doing that. We're playing it in La Man. So
- 38:16Speaker 2: shout out to UH to all the success. Brother, I'm
- 38:18Speaker 2: proud of you, man, Thank you. Three one oh adult
- 38:21Speaker 2: no longer a baby. He can buy cigarettes and vote.
- 38:26Speaker 1: That's crazy. Niggas buy cigarettes at eighteen. I thought that
- 38:29Speaker 1: was twenty one. You can buy a vape. Nicotine is eighteen.
- 38:33Speaker 1: You buy cigarets eighteen, but not liquor.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Correct, I mean I think the difference is is liquor.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Liquor affects your judgment. Cigarettes just affect your lungs. Yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 2: Like no one's ever like crashed the car off of
- 38:49Speaker 2: a cigarette. Like, man, I just had so much nicotine
- 38:51Speaker 2: in me. I fucking I crashed into a restaurant.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Anyway. Three oh baby. I appreciate you, brother, Thank you,
- 38:59Speaker 1: my guy. I'll be back man again. Man album three bro, motherfuckers.
- 39:04Speaker 1: There it is
