- 0:00Track cast the Galaxy's most Unpredictable Star Trick podcast, Sandwiches, Talgies, Bears
- 0:19posts. That sounds sound like you're in choppers and it's just you and me.
- 0:24Now, oh we lost them, We lost them already. We had
- 0:28Chad. I don't know if anybody heard of the background noise. That's because
- 0:32Chad was up in Chopper four. He was great. He was gonna be
- 0:36given live traffic updates on seventy. And you sound like you're a little bit
- 0:40underwater right now? I do, yeah a little bit? Is that better?
- 0:46SpongeBob here, let me back in. That usually does the trick.
- 0:54If not, I'll jiggle it. Okay, that does it the guys,
- 1:00that does it? So good good. I would like you to address me
- 1:07as lieutenant in junior grade. Look, look who already? What did I
- 1:11tell you? What did I tell you? What did I tell you?
- 1:17He said you said it? You said it, so Scott did. Just
- 1:21said if if Chad drops out, I guarantee Scott we'll chime in and say
- 1:26he's available. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's give
- 1:34let's give chat another minute to reconnect and uh, if not, you know,
- 1:42we got the other guy. Yeah, that's true. I just sent
- 1:47him the league. Are you how am I doing? Yeah? All right,
- 1:57yeah yeah, rude on, yeah, I'm all right. I did
- 2:02not get to watch the the super short trucks because I'm yeah, I'm an
- 2:09idiot, and I you know, spent an hour looking forward on Paramount Plus,
- 2:14even even though it was a YouTube. Right, well, they were
- 2:19no, no, no, but you were clear. You sent me a
- 2:21link, and like an idiot, I looked forward somewhere else instead of sticking
- 2:24back and clicking on the link that that my boy Daniel sent me back.
- 2:30Hey, we got chopper four. What's the traffic? Uh? What's the
- 2:34traffic on I seventy Right now? Traffic is smooth, although very heavy.
- 2:38After the closure of the bridge at Rosport, which was scheduled for a seven
- 2:43am demolition, didn't happen until eight thirty five, which caused a backup on
- 2:49Ice seventy, both lanes, both sides, both directions for at least four
- 2:52and a half miles. Several pore spotted trying to cross the medium, but
- 2:57they couldn't because of the gates that were put up on the medium, and
- 3:00you couldn't even go over the overpass bridge in front of the bridge ahead of
- 3:04Roshport because they closed that as well, because they're just that way. Anyway,
- 3:14stay with us at the top of the hour for all the local news.
- 3:17We'll have weather on the sevens with Daniel. There you go, there
- 3:21you go. It's nice back to you. That's the chopper. That was
- 3:29just hip. Yeah, you could do the hippie dippie weathermans. Get where
- 3:32you do the It's sunny and DC at seventy two degrees at six thirty at
- 3:38nine in Baltimore, it's six forty nine. Do you want me to feel
- 3:44like the TV news weatherman bit because I haven't worked it a little bit about
- 3:49that exactly exactly. Yeah. Yeah. So you know, like all the
- 3:53weather stations or TV stations be like, oh, we have our doppler blah
- 3:55blah blah radar. What they don't they don't know, they don't now,
- 4:00it's one from the National Weather Service. They all use the same one.
- 4:03They all read the same reports. They just make graphics. That's it,
- 4:06yep, yep. And the other thing is the ten day forecast is a
- 4:12scam. Yep. The seven day forecast is a scam. The five day
- 4:16forecast is a scam. Yeah, seventy two hours, that's about the most.
- 4:21Yeah, they could predict weather reliably. I used to have a weather
- 4:26guy who would be like, just went outside, because that's what he would
- 4:32do. Oh boy, you know, I just want to I just this
- 4:39is the only right wing conspiracy theory I'm gonna throw out on today's show.
- 4:43But if you can't predict the weather past three days, then how do you
- 4:46know that the Earth is round? That's all I'm gonna say. What what
- 4:51Lad Earth? Or Chad? What's what? Come on? Come on?
- 4:57I do I do want to I do want to say this. I do
- 5:00want to say this. And this is all seriousness. And I know I
- 5:01speak for Dan when I say this to you. Daniel. First, first
- 5:05off, don't ever speak for me, never ever ever. Oh if I'm
- 5:13gonna make an ass of myself, No, You're gonna Dan, You're gonna
- 5:17love it. This is gonna love this, Okay, Daniel. I just
- 5:21gotta say this. I know I say it sometimes in our text between the
- 5:26three of us, but I feel like I need to say it live on
- 5:29air right now for everybody to understand. And here, I'm so scared right
- 5:32now, do not know what this is the great thing about me. I
- 5:36have no idea what I'm gonna say. No, Daniel, you put in
- 5:41so much effort for this show every single day of every single week. You
- 5:46do a lot. You do And I'm serious, I say, you do
- 5:48it ton for this show to make it to the point to where Dan and
- 5:53I can literally just phone it in on a Sunday. Yeah. So,
- 5:58And I just want to say thank you for that because you continuously do it.
- 6:00You don't, you never complain. I try to help when I can.
- 6:03I know Dan tries to help when we can, but it's very difficult
- 6:06with our different schedules. I don't do any Yeah. Yeah, so,
- 6:15No, I just wanted to say thank you, buddy. It's awesome.
- 6:16I agree. This is the one time Chad does does speak for me.
- 6:20Daniel is. Daniel is the Miles O'Brien of this of this decrepit old Cardassian
- 6:30space station. We like it, Hault track, cast Aways, breaking down
- 6:36whatever. The other one is, yea, yea, the Daniel Show.
- 6:43Yeah, there you go. It's not just tilting on its side, it's
- 6:45upside down. Oh for sure. A strong beard has joined us as well.
- 6:50He's right there. Hello. I like I like how strong Beard looks
- 6:58at chat he goes, hello, what is Yeah? What is Chad doing
- 7:02here? Yeah? You all know I'm not needed for I'm not needed for
- 7:06this show. I mean he's have to have Daniel, but you don't have
- 7:10to have me. He's a he's a special guest today. Well for those
- 7:15of the audience that's watching this, you know, live on YouTube, I
- 7:17mean, you're depriving us of his beautiful face. So it's true, that's
- 7:21true. That's right, that Haroline. That would make Captain Pike jealous.
- 7:27Absolutely. I mean I might have a strong beard, but Chad Yours is
- 7:33a you know, not too bad. It's there, it's there. Should
- 7:39we get to the news. Oh sure, So we're doing a show,
- 7:46all right, first news story rant and they had to exclusive interview with one
- 7:53of the producers and one of the directors for Lower Deck, kind of giving
- 7:57us a preview what we're going to steak coming up get joint season. They
- 8:01have promised a lot of enterprise references, and we saw a few of them
- 8:07in the current Apparently we're going to see a lot more. Another admit that
- 8:11they dropped is that Connor Tran aka Trip Yes track in one of the very
- 8:20lower depths. You're you're cutting out. Buddy Connor Trenier will be back in
- 8:26one of the very short tracks. Oh okay, yeah, so cool.
- 8:33That should be cool. Excited about that. He's my favorite character from Enterprise.
- 8:37Yeah yeah, I mean other than Porthos, well, other than Porthos
- 8:41obviously, yeah right, so yeah, it should be fun to have him
- 8:45back. Also, earlier this week was Star Trek Day for those of you
- 8:50who celebrate MASLTOF and and the way some of these Star Trek actors celebrated is
- 8:58they took to the picket lines outside of Paramount Pictures and they were there for
- 9:05quite a while, you know, doing the strike for for writers and actors,
- 9:09and so that was just something a little tidbit. And then also announced
- 9:13on Star Trek Day, I'm I know, Chad, you love Kid Cutty
- 9:18and he's going to be collaborating with Star Trek. Who Yeah, yeah,
- 9:24kid Cutty. He's a rapper, rapper, singer kind of guy. He's
- 9:30got all sorts of different hits, ask your kids. But he's a huge
- 9:37yeah I know you're talking about Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's a huge
- 9:39treky allegedly and be collaborating we're treking this sometime in October with some sort of
- 9:45fashion line that meets Star Trek, which okay, yeah, okay, were
- 9:52talking like underwear. They have not said any of that. We don't know
- 9:56what it is. The franchise will be called Boldly b. It's part of
- 10:01the Boldly Be campaign. There's mostly gonna be some sort of gaming element to
- 10:05it as well, whatever that means. If I can get uh farankie tuxedo
- 10:11like Cork Wears, then I'm I'm down right right, So there you go.
- 10:18You might be able to get that. Who knows. So it's gonna
- 10:22have a game. The clothing is gonna have a gaming element. Is that
- 10:24what you're saying. I don't know man, that they're just saying there's a
- 10:26gaming element to it. Star Trek fans already have a reputation. Do we
- 10:31need to further than Yeah? All I can think of is there used to
- 10:35be like in the early early Cousins there was a clothing line called Decode and
- 10:41like all the shirt designs had like some sort of hidden code within them,
- 10:48and you would go to their website and if you would type in the code
- 10:50first, then you would get like it was like a scavenger hunt to win
- 10:54prices. So that's how they sold the shirts. That's the only gaming element
- 10:58I can think of. But I don't know. So we're all gonna be
- 11:05walking around in these T shirts and people are just gonna be like randomly walking
- 11:07up to us and scanning us with their phones. I guess it's like,
- 11:11oh, you're a Star Trek fanto, Hey listen to the trick cast,
- 11:16so you could scan the shirt while it's on the rack. Now you could
- 11:20buy the shirt, yeah, or you? I mean all I could think
- 11:24is maybe some sort of VR element, like you know, use your phone
- 11:28and you see some sort of graphic topops up because of the image starts it.
- 11:33I don't dan, just my mind went to someplace completely different with this
- 11:39than where you guys are. I was thinking more of like a Star Trek
- 11:43theme for all, and then you have to play that game of figuring out
- 11:46how the fuck the class come off anyway, Okay, that is an eternalness,
- 11:56all right. I guess we're gonna have like a M for mature disclaimer
- 12:01at the beginning of I guess, yeah, it's early. There's a sea
- 12:07for chat and I actually forgot you can curse on this show, because there's
- 12:11been some pack lad reviews where I'm like, oh, I want to say
- 12:13the word, you know, hell or shit or yeah, yeah, we're
- 12:18try and keep it. The first thirty seconds have to be clear or clean.
- 12:22After that, okay, yeah, I still try and keep it.
- 12:28I always still try to keep it clean. But I was there was one
- 12:31a couple of months ago where I was like, this would be really funny
- 12:33if I could like bleep out an apparent curse word. So wait, hold
- 12:35on a minute, hold on him in Yeah, those those pacled reviews are
- 12:39you It's a collaboration. It's a collaboration. Okay, alright, alright,
- 12:46okay, come on, damn do that to me. There are people watching
- 12:52me. Excuse me, excuse me. You will address me as lieutenant junior
- 12:58grade. Yes, if you don't see this here, how many pips do
- 13:03you see? Alright and a half? How many time? Yeah? Yeah,
- 13:09you know what they say. Pipping ain't easy. Okay, show me
- 13:13the proper respect. He out of all of us, I'm the only one
- 13:16wearing official Trek cast merch. Okay, I'll have you know, I'll have
- 13:22you know. I don't want to hear about your underwear. This is an
- 13:26exclusive numbered treck Cast bandana. Uh huh from the Phoning from the Phoning at
- 13:33in collection. Yeah, Chad, tell us about your underwear. You're wearing
- 13:37treck Cast underwear. Right. No, I've got the camera off because I'm
- 13:39driving naked. Oh okay, Right, he's on his way to a kind
- 13:48of convention. He's on his way to a to a beata's head wedding.
- 13:56Alright, story anyway, anyway, we're still doing the news. That's right.
- 14:03And Star Trek had its first fan event ever in Beijing. Happened last
- 14:09Saturday. Don't know numbers of how many people arrived, but there were a
- 14:15few fans. They got to see some exhibits and it was fun for them.
- 14:18You know. I guess Star Trek is growing in China. One thing
- 14:22that I thought was interesting is they interviewed some of the fans that were there,
- 14:26and one girl said that the whole reason she got into Star Trek is
- 14:31because she watched it on Big Bang Theory and from there learned about it and
- 14:35wow, yeah, well, you know that's funny because I never watched Bing
- 14:41Bang, Bing Bang, I never watched I never watched Big Bang Theory.
- 14:46Until someone someone texted me a screenshot from the episode where they get stranded in
- 14:54the desert on their way to a Star Trek convention. Yes, and I
- 14:58was like, what is this and they're like, oh, it's it's,
- 15:01you know, the Big Bang Theory. I'm like, what is that?
- 15:03I don't even know? And from there I watched that episode and then went
- 15:05back to the beginning and watched the whole series. Oh wow, it's a
- 15:09good series. And they're big Star Trek fans, and I've always thought that,
- 15:13you know, I kind of relate to them, to the to the
- 15:16characters. I'm big bang. But the problem is they're you know, theoretical
- 15:18physicists and they work at the university, and but they're big nerds. And
- 15:22I've always thought, you know, I have all of their weaknesses and none
- 15:28of their strengths, but you have different strikes. That is true. That
- 15:33is true. I have a strong beard. None of them have a stronger
- 15:37beard. Yes, exactly, Jad. Did you get into a Big Bang
- 15:39Theory? On and off? I watched. I watched a little bit here,
- 15:45a little bit there. I haven't seen the entire thing all the way
- 15:46through, but enough to know about quite a bit about the show. I've
- 15:52only ever seen the clips and that's it. I'll tell you what if they
- 15:56ever, if they ever reboot t n him Jim Parsons is data. That's
- 16:03name, right, Jim Parola. Yeah, Jim Parsons, All right,
- 16:07I could see that. Yeah. Well, let's let's get to the main
- 16:12topic because we have show two shows and in a short track to review.
- 16:15Oh my goodness, will now, So am I sticking around? I guess
- 16:27yeah, I guess. Well. I wanted everybody to know this was not
- 16:33planned. No, no, I don't know. You got plans, you
- 16:41got plans. Yeah, that's right. I can't I can't read any of
- 16:49the little pop ups by the way that are coming up. So if there's
- 16:52something there I need to know, let me know, because I gentry says,
- 16:55how many exits is Chad going to miss because of the podcast? I
- 16:59haven't missed one. Yeah, I haven't. Got the matt pulled up on
- 17:02the other phone, but it's muted, so you won't be able to hear
- 17:04it. Call yet I'm gonna say we'd be able to hear it. We'll
- 17:07let you know we heard it. We heard it during the pre show,
- 17:11we heard it play in his day. Yeah, so awesome. Well,
- 17:18we had a couple of st or lower decks premiered with two different episodes,
- 17:22which is pretty neat. The first episode was called two vis and yeah it
- 17:36was different. Man, They're just they do not care anymore and it's great.
- 17:45Let me let me pull up the log lines real quick. So the
- 17:48log line for two VIX was the sorrentos uh ensigns must assist a caretaker on
- 17:55a voyage uh a caretaker of the Voyager on a historically significant Okay, the
- 18:00Sterrito's entence must assist. I was trying to take a drink every time you
- 18:04mispronounced the words. Let's just start with that. Sirito's ens must assist the
- 18:10caretaker on a voyage of a historically significant starship. That's the log line.
- 18:15Yeah, so I read that log line. Yeah, and is it just
- 18:19me or if you put the word voyager and caretaker together, did you immediately
- 18:26did you immediately first episode, the pilot episode, I did. Yeah.
- 18:30I thought I thought it was gonna be a you know, a call back
- 18:33to the caretakers, and it wasn't. No everything else, but yeah,
- 18:44so basically they had to move the voyager. It was going to be a
- 18:48new exhibit for the fleet music. I'd like to make a correction. It's
- 18:52Voyager, not the Voyager, Okay, Voyager. And it was just full
- 18:59of entner of of easter eggs the whole episode. We got to see clown,
- 19:03we got to see uh, the guy from fair Haven. It was
- 19:07a Michael Michael, Michael Sullivan Okay, Michael Sullivan. Yeah, there were
- 19:15some I didn't I didn't know who that was for a while. It took
- 19:18me a bit. Deep cuts there, Yes, there were some deep cuts
- 19:22there. So when was it the same voice actor? Did they get him
- 19:26for I don't know, curious, but there was there was a point.
- 19:32There was a point where I think he was in the transporter room and he
- 19:34had a towel and he wiped down the top of the transporter console just like
- 19:38a bartender would wipe down the bar periodically. Okay. And then he said
- 19:45I missed my wife. Yes, because Jane Way deleted the wife his wife
- 19:53from the program. Yeah, because that was no problem. She has no
- 19:59proble. I'm killing people, whether they're real people, two people, holographic
- 20:03people, she just slaughters them. Mhmm. She's she's a straight up murderer.
- 20:08She is I feel some kind of way about that, and look at
- 20:12the research and try to figure out. Okay, let's figure out what Jane
- 20:15Wade did. Then we'll have the answer. And like everybody's totally the guy
- 20:22who was it Shacks, He's like, holy cows straight about that guy.
- 20:27It doesn't mess around. Yeah. And they even had like the big bug
- 20:34virus thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the macro virus was great.
- 20:41Yeah, that's cool. The cheese, the cheese. They defeated the ship
- 20:45with the cheese. Yeah. Yeah, Oh my god. This was this
- 20:48episode was a love letter to Voyager. He was he really was Chaotica Proton.
- 20:57The only thing I wish had they had done is when they did the
- 21:02the intro themed a Voyager, they sort sort of hurried it up. It
- 21:06was like it was done, and I'm like, I kind of wanted to
- 21:08see more, Like when they did with the Deep Space nine episode on Lower
- 21:11Decks. You know, it was sort of a long drawn out kind of
- 21:15thing. Yeah, in fact, they made fun of it. They're like,
- 21:17oh, just take another lap around the station again. I was hoping
- 21:19for more music. That's exactly right. That's because they were poking fun and
- 21:23how long that intro is and how many times you see the same shot right
- 21:29right, right? And so with Voyager though, I mean I thought it
- 21:33was kind of fun and funny that they spend it up. I think they
- 21:34were making fun of it that way for the fact that they were just gonna
- 21:37blitz right through it. That's a good point. Yeah, I didn't think
- 21:41about that. Oh, we even saw the lizard babies. Yes, yes,
- 21:47yes, they were like little animatronic Yeah. Yeah, that was great,
- 21:53weren't those Oh yeah yeah no, And of course from the Board guy.
- 21:57I'm getting both episodes a little bit mixed up in my head because I
- 22:00watched him back to back. But yeah, yeah, they had the enclave,
- 22:04the board enclaves, We're alive and yeah yeah, the alcove, the
- 22:08alcove, although no mention of the board children, no, yeah, and
- 22:18then yeah, well yeah, and then also part of the deal was that
- 22:22Mariner did not want to accept her promotion and was looking for a way to
- 22:27get out of it. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm only hard on you
- 22:33because you make me hard. That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 22:40And then we got the uh what is her name? The Vulcan character seems
- 22:45like she was gonna be sticking around. Yeah yeah, I like her,
- 22:48yeah yeah, but overall, yeah, what she what was she? How
- 22:53did she get either demoted or stuck in that position? She was? She
- 22:56was a transfer from a Valcan ship. Yeah right, but they didn't want
- 23:00there because she was doing something oh irrational or they thought she wasn't logical enough.
- 23:04Trying to remember that episode, Yeah, there's something. There was something
- 23:07minor. It was like really minute what she did, and they're like,
- 23:11oh, you are just you know, crazy emotion. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 23:19So what's interesting. She's she's wearing the provisional rank insignia, which is
- 23:26what the Maquis on Voyager War they referred to her as provisional. She was
- 23:33provisional and sign whatever her name was, right because she came from a Vulcan
- 23:38ship, which leads to another question about like do the individual worlds still have
- 23:44their own you know, are there still Vulcan ships? Are there still Beta
- 23:48Zoid ships? Are there still? You know? I think there is,
- 23:53Yeah, I think there is, but even star ships like in that d
- 23:57space and take me out to the Hollow Suite, there was a Federation starfleet
- 24:02ship. There was all Vulcan. Yeah, right, which is confusing to
- 24:07me. Yeah, well, I don't know that it's confusing. It's it's
- 24:14I mean, look at it this way. Look at look at look at
- 24:15our own country. Right, so we still we fly F fifteens and the
- 24:22British fly F fifteens. They call them something different, little bit different pain
- 24:25job, but it's the same thing. We have aircraft carriers, they have
- 24:30aircraft carriers, right. But yeah, there wasn't like a unit that was
- 24:34all like, you know, one race and another. You know, it's
- 24:41like, I'm just using the nationalities as the comparison, not race. Yeah,
- 24:44I don't think that's I don't think that's a that's a fair comparison though,
- 24:48I think you know, Okay, so we have the famous Tusky Airman.
- 24:52We have them because of segregation, right, you know, we have
- 24:56them. We honor them now, but at the time, you know,
- 25:00it was it was terrible that this was a unit that was segregated down racial
- 25:08lines, right exactly. So to think that in the twenty fourth to twenty
- 25:14fifth century they're still doing stuff like that for whatever reason, seems so Valcans
- 25:19are racing wrong, that's right. I guess that's what we could take away
- 25:23from that, well, they looked down on everybody. That's true, so
- 25:27sure, so sure, yeah, all right, And then the second episode
- 25:33that we had was episode number two, I have no bones yet, I
- 25:37must flee and the Yes, that's how it will be known as. And
- 25:47it says tries to get promoted, Rutherford tries to get promoted, and Boimler
- 25:52makes a big move. So no mention of the moopsiepsie. Dude, I
- 26:00don't know if you saw my my quick reaction, but I predicted that the
- 26:03moopsie was gonna be like huge and people were gonna want like stuffed animals and
- 26:07things like that. I've already seen, like on social media people have like
- 26:12stitched their own moopsies and they did one. I've seen a couple of those
- 26:17already. Yeah, my wife wants stuffed one. Yeah. Yeah, there
- 26:22there's yeah, there's going to be moopsie cosplay. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 26:30going on. Yeah. I thought it was funny how they commented. They
- 26:37commented about how humans are always being scooped up and placed in alien manastry.
- 26:41Yeah, this is something that just happens. We make such great exhibits and
- 26:51then uh oh, so this guy ensign Garry. Yeah. I thought they
- 26:59kind of missed an opportunity here. I thought initially they said NSI and Carrie,
- 27:03Oh and Joe carry from Voyager. He had children, he died,
- 27:11you know, and uh he died at the end of season seven, but
- 27:14he made it like all for the series. Oh he died. Uh it
- 27:23gets so close and yet yeah. Yeah, so apparently grout is running.
- 27:29I'm anasury now, what would you like a banana? I don't know,
- 27:33Yeah, I am, I am grew sorry. Yeah, so Boiler Boimler
- 27:41knows everything there is to know about Starfleet, but he doesn't know how to
- 27:45how to close the window shade his new quarters. What didn't have it all?
- 27:52You can't have it all? Oh? Man, Hey, I'm gonna
- 27:56be the guy. Uh. Mariners pretty hot for cartoon, especially when she's
- 28:00strutting around in her underwear. I'm just agreeing the guy who says, thanks,
- 28:07thanks for backing me up on that. There again, I got you
- 28:11back. Only half is creepy now or twice as creepy? Who knows?
- 28:18I don't know the math. Yeah, but it was a fun episode.
- 28:26Yeah. T Beer brings up the Mirror Universe Archer action figure that Boimler had.
- 28:32Oh and he also agrees with you that man. Yep, that's right,
- 28:37that's right, hot Mariner. How about the red filter Advisor t OS
- 28:45reference? Yeah, I was. I thought I was the only truth thought
- 28:51that. I don't know if he means the reference or that Mariners hot,
- 28:56I don't know. I saw yeah, cosplayer tendee on our Facebook group about
- 29:02a week ago, and I can't get that image out of my head.
- 29:06I didn't see that. Everybody's right now, Look, yeah, that decks
- 29:21it is a little bit. Yeah, but I mean there's still lower decks.
- 29:23But remember that guy we used to have in our Facebook group we post
- 29:26all the Cospay plecture pictures. That's like the only thing. Yeah, what
- 29:32ever happened to that guy? Is he still he's not still doing that?
- 29:33It was his name Chris. I think his name was Chris. Yeah,
- 29:37yeah, yeah, Chris. If you're still listening, listen to the show
- 29:41post up on Facebook. You guys, just don't let your wife know.
- 29:49Oh boy, yeah, my wife's like, what are you doing nothing?
- 29:52I'm just watching cartoons. Yeah, there you go. So, of the
- 29:57two episodes, which one is, did you guys like better? The first
- 30:00one or the second one. I watched them back to back. They kind
- 30:04of ran together. Yeah, yeah, they ran together in my head.
- 30:08I mean that's all the Lower Deck episodes kind of run together. It's just
- 30:11it's like skis, you know. Yeah, I was unprepared to watch the
- 30:17second episode. Yeah. Yeah, all the Voyager callbacks were pretty great.
- 30:22Yeah, but they were pretty neck and neck in my mind. So Ransom
- 30:27is jacked and he has like beautiful chompers now, and we've already established that
- 30:33Mariner is the hottest cartoon going, that's right, And he's only hard on
- 30:38her because she makes him hard first. So I think they're gonna have beautiful
- 30:44cartoon children together. You heard it here. You heard it here, folks.
- 30:49Maybe that's why the one of the reasons she got promoted is so it
- 30:52would be a little less uh you know, a little less creepy, less
- 30:56inappropriate. Yeah, yeah, you know. So I go back to a
- 31:02couple of weeks back, we had our predictions show, and one of those
- 31:07predictions was thrown right out the window in the first like forty seconds of the
- 31:11first episode. Yeah you know which one I'm talking about? Yeah, the
- 31:15Pike reference. Yeah yeah, yeah, but not necessarily we got more episodes
- 31:22to go. Oh no, they mentioned Yeah, they mentioned it seconds he
- 31:27already said it. That didn't take them long at all to reference it.
- 31:30So, now here's the thing she said that we're not supposed to talk about.
- 31:34Why are they not supposed to talk about it? Them talking about it
- 31:37won't affect the past? Yeah, that is weird. That's a good point,
- 31:41isn't it like just standard procedure, like if you go time traveling,
- 31:45you're not supposed to talk about it. Well, it could be more like
- 31:49it's standard procedure not to talk about something we might have screwed up, like,
- 31:53yeah, let's not talk about that thing that we did that wasn't that
- 31:57great? Yeah? Yeah, because then you start getting in people's heads that,
- 32:01well, is this really the right timeline? Are we supposed to fix
- 32:05that? Like? What really is the real timeline? Right? I mean
- 32:08you get it out with spaghetti massive? What's real spaghetti? Did you watch
- 32:13the Flash? Yeah, it's gonna say, no, I didn't I talk
- 32:17about timelines with spaghetti in that? Yeah? Oh that's right. Yeah the
- 32:22movie or the movie? Yeah, I watched the theaters, but I haven't
- 32:28seen it yet. It was pretty good. Yeah, it's not bad.
- 32:31Yeah, I don't care what. I don't care what people say. It
- 32:34was pretty good. Yeah, I know he's a creep, but yeah.
- 32:37Yeah. The movie itself though, Yeah, not too bad. Is it
- 32:39streaming? Is it streaming anywhere yet? Yeah? It's okay. Maybe I'll
- 32:45watch it this week from the well I'm sitting in the hotel room. Yeah,
- 32:49it's not too bad. And I'm a horrible trek e because I didn't
- 32:53even realize it was a Star Trek Day this week. I was in Seattle
- 32:57all week this last week and had no freaking clue what was going on anything
- 33:00in the real world of what I was doing. Well, their branding of
- 33:02it was strange. Yeah, apparently they did like a whole little like a
- 33:07show, like a twenty minute show that was not on Paramount Plus but only
- 33:12on YouTube from whatever read there's the Paramount Plus. Yeah, it was the
- 33:17dude that I shook hands with that the Star Trek convention. Uh yeah,
- 33:22yeah, yeah, so he did that and then yeah, but it was
- 33:30weird that they kept referencing because it's it's like the fifty seventh anniversary of Star
- 33:35Trek, so they wanted to focus on a whole number, so they kept
- 33:37saying. They kept promoting the fact it was the fiftieth anniverse, fiftieth anniversary
- 33:43of Star Trek the animation series. Yeah, which is the fifth anniversary of
- 33:47the animated series, but fifty seven years of Star Trek overall. All right,
- 33:52show a hands in the in the chat, how many people had actually
- 33:57seen the animated series. Yeah, I've seen a few episodes of it.
- 34:01Well, and what's funny is apparently they kept talking about the history of Star
- 34:06Trick animation and how great the animated history is, but no mention of Prodigy.
- 34:10Yeah. Oh they're trying to They're trying to sweep that under the rug.
- 34:15Yeah, they are, which reminds me of another thing I was surprised
- 34:17at there were Unless I'm mistaken, there were no voice cameos from the Voyager
- 34:22cast. Were there in this? I don't I don't think. I don't
- 34:24think there was. Okay, I was waiting for I mean, like a
- 34:29Neelix or Neelix is coming in one of the very short tricks we've already seen
- 34:34teases. That's true. Yeah, I did see that. Yeah, and
- 34:37now we know that Connor Trenier is coming in another one. So I mean
- 34:39it's enterprise, but still excited excited about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:50We have a few people just t Bear Lumberjack that have seen just not
- 34:54a series, not a big deal that they made it out in the year's
- 34:58past as far as everything is, you know, in years past, we've
- 35:00had like a whole day of stuff, right. I wonder if that's limited
- 35:06by the strike, Like maybe they recorded Jerry O'Connell's stuff really early, but
- 35:09everything else like they just couldn't do it, you know, because they can't
- 35:15get the actors. Like last time they had like a big event in LA
- 35:19where the actors were there and they were like they basically did a panel a
- 35:22few panels. Right, but presumably the entire season is already of lower decks
- 35:29is already filmed and voiced over, right, right, But like recording those
- 35:32interviews and things like that, sometimes they record him super early. But the
- 35:37strike started about two months ago, so they might have been you know,
- 35:40that's when they would have recorded these things. So okay, yeah, yeah,
- 35:47I don't know. He is he is ye turning both ways? Look
- 35:53both ways, check it first, check check for on coming traffic. Don't
- 35:58get hurt. Watch out for those seven drivers that's right. Apparently they are.
- 36:02They are the worst. For those that don't know, I drive a
- 36:08sub. There you go, you're the cassidy as of our show. I
- 36:15am, thank you very much. I think that's the first time anybody ever
- 36:19said that about me. Say, you're like Travis's dad. But oh yeah,
- 36:22like Cassidys is better. Yeah, I don't know what's worth I'm yeah
- 36:29either way, a cargo ship. That's all right. Good news is I'm
- 36:34a captain. The bad news is it's a cargo vessel. All right.
- 36:43Well, should we get to feedback? Sure? Hey, hey, that's
- 36:55scroll so fast. I know it does I forget what I even put in
- 37:00it. Trek Cast G eight, do you guys still get email to trek
- 37:07cast at gmail dot com or yeah, okay, yeah, but yeah,
- 37:16so we did get some some feedback. We got a packlad review. Really
- 37:22really, let me let me play that for us, Ladies and gentlemen,
- 37:29Welcome to Star Trek Day, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek, the
- 37:37animated series whatever and now Star Trek Lower Decks Season four premiere two vics.
- 37:52A pack lad review back led still think that Jain way straight up murdered two
- 38:02vix Thank you for listening to a pack led review. That little that little
- 38:12baseball guy, Yeah, he looks like the the big two vis meatball.
- 38:22When they just two vixed everybody together, that was the solution, and it
- 38:27was great that they just they just glossed right over the ethics of it,
- 38:31like, oh, you don't have a problem with this. Nah, They're
- 38:34just a big mess, the big meaty mess of of people. It's it's
- 38:37fine now, yeah, it's fine. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, you
- 38:39guys think that these packled reviews are embarrassing, you should like hear yourself.
- 38:45Listen. Oh god, I'm sorry everybody. I'm gonna keep doing them,
- 38:51but I'm really sorry. What do you mean? What do you mean doing?
- 38:54Do you hear yourself? Yeah? What do you I'm producing producing,
- 38:58That's what I meant. Oh, okay, you're not you're not. No,
- 39:01no, no, no no. But some of my best friends are
- 39:05right what are you talking about? I work with the pack lid. I
- 39:07think exactly, exactly my best friends, one of my best friends are pack
- 39:12leads. Right now, there's the conversations right here in Idaho all the time.
- 39:25I don't really would you really want to pack lit on your ship,
- 39:30though, I mean as part of your crew. Whoa, whoa. Now
- 39:32you sound like a commander from episode the Commander. Wow, I know,
- 39:40I know. Chad runs a pack lid pre ship apparently. Yeah, wow,
- 39:46shave that mind. He's got a sign in the window. It's just
- 39:49pack lids need not apply. I know. Wow. Jeez, what is
- 39:53this the twenty three fifties? Didn't they say something on one of the episodes.
- 40:01Didn't they make reference to back in the nineties. Yeah, it was
- 40:06like the twenty three nineties. Yeah, yep, yeah, which is awesome.
- 40:12Yes, yeah, somebody could stitch one of these episodes of Trek cast
- 40:16together and make us look really, really bad. Oh that does happen quite
- 40:22a bit. I also put out in the group that you know, hey,
- 40:27who's the bigger threat? Moopsie or yeah, overall, Badgie was the
- 40:35bigger threat according to people, But it was roughly like seventy thirty. It
- 40:38wasn't as oh we lost them, Yeah we lost Okay, finally the truth
- 40:52comes out. Last my plan is coming together. Oh God, were accomplice?
- 41:07T Bear. Let's bring you into hailing from the actual USS Toritos in
- 41:16California, that's right, all right. It's nice to be able to get
- 41:21up at you know, normal morning hours and on Sundays and get on and
- 41:27the show's actually on. Not no, not by now. Yeah. Yeah,
- 41:34But to be bear, it ended up being seeing Punk's last match in
- 41:36aw and we didn't know that. I knew that, but yeah, I
- 41:40mean, everybody it was coming. Don't you get the newsletter, Daniel,
- 41:45Yeah, I get there. By the way, I wanted to answer the
- 41:51question of who was in Chad's walls. I thought that was actually Scott because
- 41:55Chad had him tight up and hit him in the basement. But I'm glad
- 42:00you got out. You explain somehow. So it's like you got beamed out
- 42:05of there with an emergency beam upon some transporter enhancement and enhancement patent enhancers.
- 42:14So yeah, there you go, enhancements. Oh nice. So what do
- 42:22you think of the episodes? Awesome? I'm such a I was a big
- 42:25Voyager fan, and you guys know that I'm probably more than d S nine.
- 42:29I know that sacrilege here, but dude, just the references and just
- 42:36seeing it, and they animated it really well, and it looks like the
- 42:39animation was as good as when they animated Strange New Worlds the Enterprise, So
- 42:46kudos to the animation team. But it was hilarious. I mean, all
- 42:51those little deep cuts, the fact that there was one nanoprobe still still hiding
- 42:58in the ships were just one, it's all take and when it when it
- 43:02assimilated the macro virus, it also got big two. So that was pretty
- 43:07hilarious. Good. I love how they handled the two VIC thing. I
- 43:14mean they fully straight up caller out and then at the end they're like,
- 43:19yeah, it's such a big giant blob that has no use, so yeah,
- 43:22yeah, it's okay to hunt do it this way now, Yeah,
- 43:25that was their ethical out. Yeah, which kind of was their ethical end
- 43:31was to lend combining all of them in the first place. So that was
- 43:35interesting to do that. So technically, yeah, so how do we know
- 43:42that when this first happen to two vics they didn't try to combine other people
- 43:45in the experimentation and then that was the only way out is to get rid
- 43:47of him. Yeah oh yeah, but no, awesome the only and then
- 43:53the second episode, Yeah, that was hilarious. I think we were all
- 43:59thinking about that about Mariner being out of the form, we'll be out of
- 44:05this. I'm not getting into your aneme. I know you opened the floodgates.
- 44:19I know our group is not going to be littered with like hot cartoon
- 44:22girls. Please do that. I've imagine a lot of Jessica rabbits. Do
- 44:30we have any artists out in the group? Oh God, just send it
- 44:38to mine and Dan's uh Facebook inbox? Isn't that where? Uh? Was
- 44:46it? What's it called? Chad is wrong? At you? Moti com
- 44:51gets for it it, Scott? Can you can though? Yeah? There?
- 45:02Uh? Oh my god, hold on, I need to show you
- 45:07this because somebody just boasted this in the group. Strong Beard all all episode
- 45:15this week, just waiting. What does what did the caption say? I
- 45:23couldn't read it. It was strong Beard all episode this week, just him
- 45:28him being that guy was waiting. I just had one last comment was yeah,
- 45:39very very short track. I think my reaction was just what the Yeah?
- 45:47It's yeah, so what was it? I didn't you know, I
- 45:52didn't see it either. Oh can you guys describe it for yeah? So
- 45:59you want to describe it beer? Yeah, It's like those scenes in Family
- 46:05Guy where they kind of make the joke too long. And it gets cringe
- 46:08ey, but they did on purpose, so it was based and it was
- 46:13funny because it feels like they were calling out just the wokeness of the more
- 46:17recent episodes and people's reaction to the wokeness where it was basically on the original
- 46:23Bridge and the original animated serious style. And this guy that kind of looked
- 46:29like Captain Kirk but had no the voice didn't even sound like him, even
- 46:31though Spock spot yeah, and he was making these I guess what you could
- 46:38say, analogies or figures of speech, and everyone he said was insulting some
- 46:44Bridge member on the crew and like you said, this is all We'll skin
- 46:47a cat and then the cat he was like what, Yeah, And there
- 46:53was there was a guy that's gonna sound wrong. I don't know if I
- 46:58want to describe it without showing the picture. No, describe it. Yeah,
- 47:01the guy that had like a I forget what it was, something with
- 47:05a screw head, Yeah, like a picture like a screw and his head
- 47:08was shaped like a like the screw. And then there was a was it
- 47:12a screw or was it a self sealing stembel one of the one of the
- 47:15two, and then the other guy next to him like, what was I
- 47:19don't even want to describe it how I think what I thought he looked like,
- 47:22But yeah, well you know what, you guys have to see it.
- 47:29I think it's it's it's hard to describe. But it was just this
- 47:32every everything where he said, and it happened like four or five times where
- 47:37every figure of speech was insulting one person or another. Yeah, and finally
- 47:42he at the very end he ended up making up some figure of speech and
- 47:46then that person just ended up saving the ship that they blew up anyway,
- 47:50So it was it was a reducer of these things. Is Casper Kelly,
- 47:54who has a history. It just bonkers. The animation he worked on,
- 47:58Aquitine Hunger for Harvey Birdman, Journey at Law, a lot of a lot
- 48:05of adults swim stuff. So Aquite Hunger for Us is not for children,
- 48:08No, not at all. So it is just makes sense now, you
- 48:14know. Yeah, I can't even think of the concept of Aquitine Hunger for
- 48:19Us without thinking of lightsaber dildo. There you go. I look at the
- 48:23moon to night. Am I allowed to say that on this show? You
- 48:25are getting it was getting close to that. I mean, you're you're in
- 48:30Chad Spot, so you're kind of expected. Yeah, you've got some producing
- 48:37to do after this is over. The captain was just credited as captain,
- 48:42didn't say that it was Kirk, and the voice actor was Pete Holmes,
- 48:45who's a also like a YouTube comedian and so used to have his own show.
- 48:52I think on on HBO. I think I'm just bummed they didn't get
- 48:57the guys that did the animation for that t and in the style. Yeah,
- 49:02yeah, because they did a good job on that, but it sounds
- 49:07like they feel like they copied them. Yeah. So is is this produced
- 49:12through Paramount or is this Yeah, it's okay. Yeah, So I'm wondering
- 49:17if originally that was Captain Kirk and they were like, no, you can't,
- 49:22you can't. I wouldn't be surprised. You can't do it with Captain
- 49:25Kirk. Change you know, change it. And they changed just him.
- 49:28And that's why everybody else looks like the rest of the crew, right,
- 49:32you said Spock with Spock. Yeah, why would they change Kirk? You
- 49:38know, because because he was such an asshole in the skin, Like,
- 49:43you can't have Captain Kirk be we can't have him be the bad guy.
- 49:46Or the Yeah, he's the here, he's the hero. You can't have
- 49:49him. Yeah, it was the awful So that wasn't our crap Captain Kirk.
- 49:52That was the the new Captain Kirk in a different timeline. So that's
- 49:57where ge everybody's seen the original series, right, I'm I'm about eleven episodes.
- 50:04My wife and I are rewatching. We're watching the original series for the
- 50:07first time. And oh, wow, is it bad, like the sex
- 50:15the sexism alone. Yeah, yeah, I'm surprised it's still on the air.
- 50:17I mean it's it's like, I'll never get used to a woman on
- 50:22the bridge and Starfleet one of the episodes they just watched, Starfleet has a
- 50:24policy in place, no women captains. Yeah, it's one. It's but
- 50:35again, that was before the temporal Cold War. So right, this is
- 50:37true. This is true. That's right. There's more and more evidence out
- 50:43there de canonizing ts every day. Yeah, so you're saying that the temporate
- 50:49Cold War really, you know, did something for women's rights. Yeah,
- 50:52and and yes, we owe we owe women's rights to the Romulans, right,
- 50:58thank thank you, And we don't forget that the timeline we're watching is
- 51:04not the prime anymore. They completely backdoord their way out of that. That's
- 51:07That's what I'm saying. Everything Wait, the timeline and strange New Worlds,
- 51:13Yeah, it's they Yeah, they've made that illusion that everything is completely different
- 51:16after they saved Cohn when they show concrete, like everything is just completely different.
- 51:23Now, okay, when they show Cohn as a nine year old in
- 51:28twenty twenty two, right, and and then she explains that I've been mucking
- 51:32with the timeline and this was all supposed to happen back in the nineties.
- 51:37That they've they've pretty much established that any inconsistency that you find from the preceding
- 51:45fifty seven years just explained away. That there's a temporal Cold War going on
- 51:50and things right from time to time, and that's would do a prequel,
- 51:53but at this point you kind of and it has nothing to do with it
- 51:58being a prequel though, because at this point you kind of have to do
- 52:00that because our own history has diverged from the history of Star Trek. Yeah,
- 52:06I didn't think that that makes sense. You know, there used to
- 52:08be I know it's not Cannon, but there used to be this print,
- 52:15this officially licensed print for sale, and it was the title of the print
- 52:22was New Borg City, and it was supposed to be a picture of Manhattan
- 52:25after the Borg took over Earth and you and you see a fully assimilated New
- 52:31York City skyline. It had the World Trade Center in it. Yeah,
- 52:37okay, because that prince was done in nineteen ninety seven or whatever. So
- 52:43you know, I'm sure if if you look hard enough at Star Trek,
- 52:47whenever they show any sort of historical things, there's already inconsistencies where our timeline
- 52:54has diverged from the history of Star Trek, right, So so it's fine.
- 53:00I'm fine with the temporal Cold War as a way of explaining all this
- 53:06stuff away and at the same time modernizing, uh the shows that we're watching
- 53:10now, Yeah, it's all spaghetti. It's also I guess, I guess,
- 53:15I just I just it just them trying to explain it away, you
- 53:20know, things like I mean, I personally, you know, I was
- 53:24inspired to join the military because of the Eugenics War. I mean that happened
- 53:28about ten years before I joined the army, But you know, the eugenics
- 53:31War is a big reason. It's a really big reason. You know,
- 53:37some of the older guys served in the Eugenics Wars. Yep, yep,
- 53:42I served under Khan in the in the fifth Artillery, right such and such?
- 53:46Yeah, yeah, there they are the World Trade Centers. Yea,
- 53:52all right? Well do you bear anything else you wanted to bring up?
- 53:57Nope, keep it. Thanks for thanks for a Chad for that quick cameo.
- 54:02Good to see the main crew. Uh here, thank you. And
- 54:14and for those who don't know, that was the original voice of Chad.
- 54:16We original. We got the original Chad to come back. That's right,
- 54:22Jazz busin are you here? Yes? Can you hear me? Yes,
- 54:24we can hear you. We don't see you, but we hear you.
- 54:29And then dark and stormy night. Maybe just the lens cap on, Grandma,
- 54:37Grandma, the lens cap is on? Did the moves you get you?
- 54:44Yeah? I'm in Florida and I'm standing on the beach. Where is
- 54:50the sun? Wow? What time is it in Florida? I know what
- 54:58time it is in Florida? I don't know. I'm not on the East
- 55:00Coast. I'm not on the East coast. I'm on the Central Time.
- 55:02So I'm in the Panhandle. So Chazz is with Chad? That weird?
- 55:13So what do you think of the episodes? Uh, well, the kind
- 55:16of blended together, because every time I think of one, it kind of
- 55:20goes with the other and it's like, wait a minute, you happen on
- 55:22the other episode. And I like how they blend the humans at the end
- 55:27of the one and they just left them in there. It's like, yeah,
- 55:34we don't need you guys, because can stay here. It's a good
- 55:40episode. I'm wonder what this new. Uh Tom paris like ship, you
- 55:45know, the crazy ship that was destroying everything. M hm oh yeah,
- 55:51because if that thing links up with Badgie and Peanut Hamper, the world will
- 55:55be Yeah. Well I know that ship took over. Remember Tom Parris when
- 56:02he was making the Gulf of Flyer that ship. Yes, that's what that
- 56:08ship's round. Remember when we had the neural link Alice, isn't it Yeah,
- 56:14Alice, yeah, Alice, Yeah, so that's connected. I think
- 56:21I really enjoyed how we saw the lower decks on the other ships too.
- 56:27Yeah, we saw the Romulin lower decks and they're all talking about scheming and
- 56:31plotting and being suspicious of each other. Yes, my plots better than your
- 56:37plot and click on lower decks. All they're talking about is, you know,
- 56:43meaningless battle and yeah it's good. It was good. Yeah. Yeah,
- 56:49they're gonna take over the captain and kill him. Yeah yeah, yes,
- 56:52this will be our crew and blah blah blah, kind of like what
- 56:54Scott Botter's doing right now is definitely try. Next time you'll see with a
- 57:05batlift and you'll be looking at Chad sharpening it. That's great. I just
- 57:15want to congratulate you, Scott for checking over. So oh absolutely, yeah,
- 57:20I mean I could, I could. I could never replace Chad.
- 57:22I can only succeed him. He finally did it. Finally finally did it.
- 57:30Listening to this like he's trying to get connected but he just can't radio.
- 57:35No, he's he's doing ninety on the on the highway, not realizing
- 57:39that he's not his way to buy a house, cut the brake lives.
- 57:45Chad goes by a dress, so yeah, he might be on the way
- 57:49right there. Yeah, watch out, see somebody with the crazy hair.
- 57:58I'm ready for I'm ready for you. I know, one of those.
- 58:05Next time you see in starting the rest of the episode, because you know
- 58:08he's not gonna listen to the rest of this. So next time, when
- 58:10you're on here starts sharpening it. There you go. That's a good idea.
- 58:15Yeah, awesome, it's awesome. I want to bring up Jazzbaz.
- 58:24Well, I'm just reading for the season. I kind of wish they didn't
- 58:30do two back to back because we're you know, this long gap is gonna
- 58:34suck. So was that the only one who didn't know going into the episode
- 58:37one that they were going to do a back to back episode. The only
- 58:42reason I knew is because I let the player keep going. Yeah, I
- 58:46counted down. I'm like, what is this? Why is it playing another
- 58:49because you normally plays like something from another series. Because I was the paramount,
- 58:54I didn't remember that it was going to happen, But when it happened,
- 58:58I remember, oh yeah, yeah, they they did announce that,
- 59:01but then going forward it was one episode a week and I guess we'll see.
- 59:08Which is weird though, because there's gonna be a lot of time between
- 59:13when this ends and when they can bring anything new out. Well, no,
- 59:17they got Disco still, yeah yeah, but I know, I think
- 59:22one person has mentioned that, but after Disco there's gonna be a long gap.
- 59:30Yeah yeah. So and for those those paying attention, that is the
- 59:35Amazon guy. You're gonna see him? Yeah, I saw him right there
- 59:38as he comes back there, would you get awkward? Stay forward? Oh?
- 59:50No, I wave? I wave, I always wave. Dan't got
- 59:54a new g I Joe, So maybe we'll see. We'll see. But
- 1:00:00with that, I do have another engagement I need to get to. So
- 1:00:05yeah, free to wrap it up to feel free to keep trekking, but
- 1:00:08I'm going to make my exit if you want to move, if you want
- 1:00:15to move, Scott to the upper right hand corner temporarily of course, up
- 1:00:22here you can wrap it up here. Thanks everybody for listening. All right.
