- 0:00Welcome back to Paranormal Lens. You made it
- 0:03through our 50 -minute episode about pumpkin
- 0:07spice lattes, and then you made it through another
- 0:1050 -minute episode about sandwiches. Now, there
- 0:14are some topics that warrant long, in -depth
- 0:18conversations, and there are other topics that
- 0:21don't necessarily warrant long, in -depth conversations.
- 0:26When we did the orbs episode, we had a... We're
- 0:30going to discuss this in 30 minutes or less because
- 0:32we can ramble all day. This is one of those topics
- 0:35tonight, ladies and gentlemen, that we can probably
- 0:38talk about for 24 hours. Yeah, so we're going
- 0:42to give ourselves, like we did in the Orb episode,
- 0:46a 30 -minute timer so we can stay on time and
- 0:51exercise discipline. I feel like exorcisms may
- 0:57come up tonight. Later as well. So let's start
- 1:00the exercising. On the right foot. And. I'm going
- 1:06to set a 30 minute timer. I feel like you're
- 1:10being really sneaky. With all these. Like puns.
- 1:14And play on words. I mean. It's pun conseason.
- 1:22Angela left. For all the viewers. Angela left.
- 1:26How dare she? We've been abandoned. Angela. Coming.
- 1:33She's coming. As soon as we start punning around,
- 1:38you know, she's like, I don't know. I'm out of
- 1:39here. I don't like no punning. Angela's like,
- 1:42puns? I'm out of here. You came to the wrong
- 1:46podcast. Me and Bree have an eight -year -long...
- 1:48You're friends with the wrong people. Yeah. We've
- 1:52been having a competition, a war, actually, for
- 1:54eight years. I don't think it's been going on
- 1:58quite as eight years, but yes. Who made the first
- 2:03pun that made us realize we both have an issue?
- 2:08I don't know. I think we were just in a... That's
- 2:14a great question. Okay, that's something to think
- 2:16about later. Thank God I didn't start this timer
- 2:19yet. I think it's probably Brianna, honestly.
- 2:22Probably Brianna. Probably. I'm very competitive.
- 2:25It was probably me. Probably. Anyways, this is
- 2:29why we have a timer. A, because we can talk about
- 2:31this for 24 hours straight, and B, because tangents
- 2:35may occur, and we need to stay disciplined, like
- 2:38I said. So I'm about to start the timer on the
- 2:42count of three, because today we're taking on
- 2:45the daunting task of discussing Ed and Lorraine
- 2:48Warren. Three. Welcome to our podcast where we
- 2:55take deep dives looking at various topics through
- 2:57a paranormal lens. Let's go. The timer started.
- 3:04Let's get started, man. We're pressed for time.
- 3:09So Ed and Lorraine Warren, eh? Yeah. Where do
- 3:15we begin? oh gosh i don't know where to begin
- 3:19but i thought it was a good idea to bring up
- 3:22the topic with you know the new movie coming
- 3:25out the end of the the series i think it's supposed
- 3:29to be the end of the series and it already came
- 3:31out because we angela and i saw it yeah i still
- 3:34haven't seen it i'm a slacker so just just because
- 3:37you haven't seen it doesn't mean it's like coming
- 3:39out like it already i don't even know it already
- 3:41came out it might even be out of theaters It
- 3:45probably is. But anyways, it's come out. It's
- 3:50spooky season. Now's the time to talk about it.
- 3:54Because when else do you do it? This is a paranormal
- 3:58podcast, so we could talk about it at any time.
- 4:02But I feel like now's the ideal time. Better
- 4:05to get it out of the way now. At least while
- 4:08it's still a little relevant to the masses. I
- 4:14think for you, Bree, because you grew up, I believe,
- 4:19with one of Ed's books. So you might have an
- 4:22earlier start in exposure to the Warrens and
- 4:26perhaps Angela and I. Am I remembering that right?
- 4:29I didn't have, no. So when the first Conjuring
- 4:35movie came out, I got super like... into the
- 4:39lore and like everything about ed and lorraine
- 4:42warren like i'm sure a lot of people did and
- 4:44like i had like the free sample of like the first
- 4:50chapter of the ed of ed's book the demonologist
- 4:54i never actually bought it because i was a cheap
- 4:57high school student um and i had this all wrong
- 5:04I had this hyped up in my head, like, you studied
- 5:06in your youth, and you're like, I got a free
- 5:09sample. After I saw the movie. I didn't actually
- 5:11read the book. Yeah, I was picturing Bree just
- 5:14sitting on her bed every night, just reading
- 5:16the chapter. With the flashlight. Taking full
- 5:19-on notes, being like, oh, so this is one demon
- 5:22I've seen. It was like invisible ink, because
- 5:24she wasn't allowed to have a book about demonology
- 5:26in the house. Yeah. No, I did not own The Deaconologist.
- 5:33I would. I would. Just to be able to read it.
- 5:38But, no, I think, like most people, my first
- 5:42introduction to The Warrens, well, I wouldn't
- 5:45say most people. Most people our age, our first
- 5:49introduction to The Warrens was The Conjuring
- 5:53movies. Yeah. It's safe to assume that between
- 5:57all three of us. Or did you know about them previously?
- 6:01i knew about them previously um i didn't know
- 6:04wait how did you know about them previously um
- 6:09no that's a really good question i feel like
- 6:12if you're in the space their names come up i
- 6:16didn't realize they were a it was more of a passing
- 6:20knowledge like hey these were people that used
- 6:23to do paranormal stuff before people did paranormal
- 6:25stuff i don't think i knew anything beyond that
- 6:29uh definitely not i didn't think they were like
- 6:31as big of a deal as they actually truly are in
- 6:35being true pioneers i mean we'll get to the if
- 6:41they're really as great and and of people and
- 6:45people we should be endorsing you know um there's
- 6:48definitely some issues with them but also You
- 6:52know, there's no denying that they were pioneers.
- 6:55A lot of what we view as paranormal. I mean,
- 6:58the whole Zach Bagans schtick, you know, everything's
- 7:02a demon. All that can be traced right back to
- 7:04the Warrens. You know, like the way the paranormal
- 7:08is viewed in mainstream right now has a lot to
- 7:13owe to Ed and Lorraine Warren. I 100 % agree.
- 7:17Especially right now, too, in this last decade
- 7:22because of the movies and stuff. Absolutely.
- 7:25I don't know that I would be as involved in the
- 7:30paranormal if it wasn't for the Conjuring movies
- 7:33coming out and me getting so focused on the history
- 7:40and everything of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Cause
- 7:44man, like I, I would do deep dives and like,
- 7:47so, um, when I was in high school, essentially
- 7:52before that, I, my, my family was a little late
- 7:56to the technology game. Like we had flip phones
- 7:58until like, I didn't get a smartphone until I
- 8:00was like a month before college and we got a
- 8:05smart TV. So, you know, every night we'd like
- 8:09spend the night like scrolling on. either netflix
- 8:12or youtube or whatever because that wasn't something
- 8:15we had access to previously i feel like a lot
- 8:18more people got that earlier like when the stuff
- 8:22was coming out my family got a little bit of
- 8:24a late start compared to some people i think
- 8:26mine kind of did too honestly so when the when
- 8:30the conjuring movies came out my parents and
- 8:32i would like scroll on youtube and like find
- 8:35all the old like interview clips and like um
- 8:39do the deep dives and just watch all these things
- 8:42about ed and lorraine warren and that's how i
- 8:44found out about like the demonologist book and
- 8:46was like partially read into that and it just
- 8:50you read one chapter into that just one chapter
- 8:54my one chapter um but you know even with that
- 8:58one it's not a phase it's not a phase i swear
- 9:00it's not a chapter even but that one chapter
- 9:03like really did um impact me because like that
- 9:07was my first introduction like to the different
- 9:11kinds of hauntings like the residual hauntings
- 9:14and intelligent and demonic and all those things
- 9:17because that was like in the first chapter talking
- 9:20about it and i do have a question did he go in
- 9:25depth about sandwiches when he was talking about
- 9:28residual hauntings not that i recall no see we're
- 9:35just on top of the game a little bit when it
- 9:37comes yeah yeah We're the pickle on the top of
- 9:40the sandwich. Exactly. I'm so sorry. I was very,
- 9:47very heavily influenced in my paranormal career,
- 9:53I guess you could call it, by the Warrens early
- 9:57on. Yeah, I mean, I wasn't that far off. I mean,
- 10:02when I say, like, when we were younger, you read
- 10:05the book, like, I know our... first thought was
- 10:08like five -year -old Brianna but like compared
- 10:11to the rest of us we started I started doing
- 10:15paranormal stuff in 2017 so you being in high
- 10:18school that's still you're a kid I mean what
- 10:20what five -year -olds are really I was probably
- 10:22like 15 16 yeah so at this point a while ago
- 10:2810 years ago 10 years ago yeah which really isn't
- 10:33that long ago if you think about it but um it's
- 10:38half your life ago so yeah i mean half your life
- 10:40you've been on on the on the path you you know
- 10:44one of my favorite things did you uh discover
- 10:47this in your research you know early on um about
- 10:50the warrens one of my favorite things about them
- 10:53like my favorite fun fact is when they were first
- 10:56start and like no one knew who they were or even
- 11:00what paranormal investigating really was like
- 11:02the way they would get in like access to haunted
- 11:05houses was ed warren was like a painter so he
- 11:10would just like like a freaking creep he would
- 11:14like just stand there and like paint allegedly
- 11:16someone's house yeah and then yeah he would walk
- 11:20yeah no i actually i actually don't remember
- 11:22i don't remember that little factoid that's funny
- 11:26Like, how creepy is it? That might be creepier
- 11:28than it goes. Like, imagine this guy. I mean,
- 11:30I'm picturing, like, old Ed, but, like, at the
- 11:32time he was probably in his, like, 20s or 30s.
- 11:34But still, imagine us going up and painting someone's
- 11:37house. And you're like, hey, I painted your house.
- 11:39And they're like, oh. Oh. And then they're like,
- 11:42also, can I see if my painting is accurate? Oh,
- 11:47yeah. Also, there's. ghost there can we come
- 11:51back later you can have this painting for free
- 11:54if you exchange it for a seance hang on one second
- 11:57so when you say painting the house you mean painting
- 12:01a portrait of the yeah portrait yes okay i was
- 12:04imagining you saying that he was going and painting
- 12:08people's houses without their permission and
- 12:12then be like hey i painted your house and i'm
- 12:15like yeah that was really weird that's even better
- 12:20Just a random guy painting your house. Yeah,
- 12:24that's so much weirder and creepier than... No,
- 12:27he would paint a portrait. He would get his fucking
- 12:29canvas on an easel and he would paint. Yeah,
- 12:34no, I understand now. I understand now. But the
- 12:37way you said it... And then he would exchange
- 12:39the portrait for an investigation. This is how
- 12:44I'm teaching this. Is that like... He's standing
- 12:49on the other side of the road in front of this
- 12:52haunted house, painting it at like 7 in the morning.
- 12:55The people, the household people of the household.
- 12:59The household people of the household. Can you
- 13:02say household? Oh, don't. We're on a timer. And
- 13:06be like, what a beautiful day. Wait a minute.
- 13:10Is that Ed? Is that Ed Warren right there? What's
- 13:14he doing with that paintbrush? I wonder now.
- 13:17Do you picture him going like that? Because you
- 13:19can't just paint like, I mean, maybe he did paint
- 13:22in like an hour, but do you picture him going
- 13:24every day, like on the sidewalk where they can't
- 13:26do anything? And they're like, get out of my,
- 13:28get off my lawn. He's like, I'm on your sidewalk.
- 13:32And then like every morning, they're like, what's
- 13:35that kid doing back on the sidewalk? He's looking
- 13:38into our windows. He hasn't moved for four days
- 13:42straight. And then suddenly they open their window.
- 13:46Oh, that kid is gone. Heck yeah. And then he's
- 13:50standing on the porch. Yeah, he's on the porch.
- 13:52It's like a jump scare. It's like, hi. Probably
- 13:55better than any of the jump scares in the movies.
- 13:58That would have been so good if they included
- 14:00something like that. It's like, I painted a portrait
- 14:04of your house. And then they're like, that's
- 14:08what you were. Well, that's what you were doing
- 14:12for the last four days. I see now. He's just
- 14:17like, I'm not selling it to you. I'm not a salesman.
- 14:20I have nothing to sell. I just want to show you.
- 14:23Yeah, this is the only thing they did for free.
- 14:26Because in the last four, like, 20 years, they're
- 14:28selling $300 ticket seat spaghetti with Annabelle.
- 14:36Which, okay, so they actually did that. They
- 14:38did, like, sold, like, dinners with Annabelle
- 14:40while she was, like, behind glass. Really? Do
- 14:43you think it's just because they had to do the
- 14:47whole show and tell with the oven mitts? And
- 14:48they were like, well, we have oven mitts to let's
- 14:51make some spaghetti. May as well use them for
- 14:53something. No. Never know. You never know. Never
- 15:00know. Anyways. Anyways. My least favorite thing
- 15:03about Ed Warren. It got silent. Yeah, because
- 15:11I want to know what it is. We kind of know, but
- 15:15hang on, I'm putting in my other headphones so
- 15:17I can hear this so clearly. Well, I don't...
- 15:19Who the fuck is Judith Penny? Oh... Like, this
- 15:26girl was, like, living in their house? Like,
- 15:30what's the backstory? Who is this girl? Where
- 15:32do they find this girl? I don't know. I don't
- 15:37really know. I don't know. I kind of want to
- 15:40know, though. There's this rumor for the people
- 15:43listening. It's known that this girl named Judith
- 15:48Penny, I believe, was her name. Double check.
- 15:54Because they also had a daughter named Judy,
- 15:56so it gets confusing. So, yes, Judith Penny was
- 16:01this girl that, like, she was a child. And she
- 16:06lived... in the warren's house for a time what
- 16:09counts as a child though like teenage or younger
- 16:12um below the age of consent okay um and it is
- 16:20alleged that she had sexual relations with ed
- 16:26warren and it is also alleged that she witnessed
- 16:30ed warren physically abusing lorraine warren
- 16:33on multiple occasions which is a very uh i don't
- 16:43even know what it is it's it's so it's alleged
- 16:51but also i saw that it is it is i believe it
- 16:57is known to be a fact that the contract that
- 17:00lorraine warren signed for the conjuring movies
- 17:03in It must have been 2013, 2014. She added a
- 17:09clause to the contract saying that the movies
- 17:11could not depict her or her husband doing illegal
- 17:16activities, including having sexual relations
- 17:19with children, which is a really weird and random
- 17:22thing to personally request. Yeah. Have included.
- 17:28Yeah, that just sounds like they're admitting
- 17:30to it, honestly. We're not saying they. or guilty
- 17:34of anything or did admit to anything. I mean,
- 17:37adding it to a... But there's enough reasons
- 17:41to not like them without even knowing that fact.
- 17:46It's just a little icky. It is a little icky.
- 17:50It's not a little, it's a lot. It's really icky.
- 17:53Whether it's true or not, just the fact that
- 17:57there was a minor who was living with them. Yep.
- 18:05Allegedly. The rumor's gotta come from something.
- 18:08Already a little icky. Yeah, and when I was trying
- 18:11to research it, too, and we'll move on from this,
- 18:15you have to mention it, but I was trying to research
- 18:19it, and I was like, Judith Penny, and it just
- 18:22kept coming up. Judy Warren. Like, it's just
- 18:26a little weird. That their daughter's name is,
- 18:30like, Judas Judy, and then there's this Judas
- 18:32in the house. The whole thing is weird. It's
- 18:36a little hanky. Yeah. But like Brianna said,
- 18:39even without that icky elephant in the room,
- 18:46so to speak, when you mention the Warrens, there's
- 18:51other things that perhaps... make them not the
- 18:58best role models at least still today um for
- 19:02people to look up to as like proper investigating
- 19:05yeah you mean everything's a demon yeah we'll
- 19:09see and with that um with that part that you
- 19:12just mentioned angela that both ed and lorraine
- 19:16warren were heavily devout catholics and in catholicism
- 19:22it is the belief that any spirits or entities
- 19:28you are communicating with are not human yeah
- 19:31and they are all demonic in some way so i can't
- 19:34put it past them yeah it makes sense they're
- 19:38very religious um but it's just of course but
- 19:43with what we do that isn't what we agree with
- 19:48so but but what is universally i think wrong
- 19:53is most cases that they investigated uh if there
- 20:00was any paranormal activity it was minor if that
- 20:03like very few of the cases they investigated
- 20:05were you know to the scale of a haunting that
- 20:09they alleged it was after they left yeah it's
- 20:12not like the movies it was a trend of little
- 20:16activity little to no activity the warns come
- 20:19in The place is the most haunted place in the
- 20:21whole wide universe, and then they leave and
- 20:23nothing happens ever again. Yeah. They were very
- 20:27showboaty. Finding demons where there are none.
- 20:31Yes. As opposed to, like, what's your belief
- 20:35on this entity we encountered? If they were doing
- 20:39what they did nowadays, they would be considered
- 20:44clickbait. yeah like it would be it would be
- 20:48they are 100 clickbait that's a good way of putting
- 20:52it i never really thought of it like that did
- 20:55they create the demon caught on camera they might
- 20:59have not clickbait i mean don't they have like
- 21:03i mean they do have recordings and like videos
- 21:06of some of their stuff of people who are they
- 21:10think were possessed If we find an image that
- 21:15they took with the red circle and their little
- 21:18old face, then we know they invented the microgenre.
- 21:25It is no -no that Ed did intentionally fake some
- 21:33paranormal photos. Really? Now, I didn't know
- 21:38about this. Yeah, this is where Judith... penny
- 21:42comes back to haunt one more time she um alleged
- 21:45that um she was actually one of the models or
- 21:49he's calling her a model maybe it's a making
- 21:54out to be she she wore like white sheets and
- 21:58posed as a ghost in some of the photos she claims
- 22:01but even beyond if it was her or not he did fake
- 22:05a few photos that he showed on college campuses
- 22:08during lectures I hadn't heard about that, but
- 22:13I believe it. A few. That's the weird thing with
- 22:17the Warrens. It's like they faked a few photos
- 22:21here. They said a hundred of these cases are
- 22:26the most powerful demons in the whole wide universe,
- 22:28even though there's nothing at the site at all,
- 22:32ghosts or otherwise. It's just not haunted. But
- 22:35then you have a few cases where they were dead
- 22:38on. And they, you know, like, yeah, they helped
- 22:44these families. They were semi -accurate in assessing
- 22:50the situation. And the place was actually, I
- 22:54mean, the places would have been haunted regardless
- 22:57if they came or not, but still. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 23:01mean, is it like a broken clock is always going
- 23:04to be right? How does that thing go? I have no
- 23:10idea. A broken clock is still right twice a day.
- 23:15I don't know. You hit the nail on the... How
- 23:19does that go? We're gonna just skip past this.
- 23:23No idioms today. No idioms. I'm leaving again
- 23:29if this happens. No idioms. No joking. I'm out
- 23:33of here. I'm not signing up for none of that
- 23:35stuff. But how is this podcast going to keep
- 23:41going without any joking? I'm joking when I say
- 23:45none of this. Sure, okay. Imagine having to be
- 23:50serious. Yeah, imagine. Imagine. Okay, ten minute
- 23:55warning. There's so much to talk about. I know.
- 24:00So, Bree, you have something on the tip of your
- 24:03tongue. I did, and now it's gone because we started
- 24:07talking about nails on coffins and things, and
- 24:14my brain got distracted. I believe we've mentioned
- 24:18in the past Amityville being fake. Yes. So some
- 24:22of those stuff we've already mentioned. What
- 24:24were you going to say? One of the things that
- 24:27I wanted to talk about and mention was the fact
- 24:30that Ed Warren was one of the only people recognized
- 24:37and ordained by the Catholic Church who is not
- 24:41a priest to be a demonologist and be able to
- 24:47perform exorcisms. That's kind of huge. It is,
- 24:51yeah. The fact that he had that permission and
- 24:57knowledge and that respect within the catholic
- 25:04community is like kind of big but also with that
- 25:09counter contradicting like the fact that they
- 25:13would go into these situations and present and
- 25:16have like things that weren't actually real or
- 25:21fake things is insane because as someone who
- 25:28is representing the catholic church you think
- 25:31there would be more um you know backlash from
- 25:37that yeah i will and i just arguably i gave the
- 25:44biggest dump on ed this whole episode so um i
- 25:47will give the benefit of the doubt here just
- 25:50throwing it out a devil's advocate they do you
- 25:54think there's an element of like trial and error
- 25:57of like they they were the first people to do
- 26:00this this was a job do you think it was like
- 26:03okay we're gonna do this for real behind closed
- 26:06doors for the church but then when we go and
- 26:09try to tell the masses like put yourself in the
- 26:12time it's not like now where yeah you can just
- 26:16go to a college campus and be like so ghosts
- 26:21right i mean there's a scene in the new movie
- 26:23where they try to explain like ghosts and everyone's
- 26:25just like ghostbusters show me your have you
- 26:28ever caught a marshmallow man like no one knew
- 26:30what um paranormal investigating was so do you
- 26:34think there was a little bit of you know behind
- 26:36the scenes like you know i know this isn't right
- 26:40but do we need to do this for people to understand
- 26:42type of thing just just Yeah, that's interesting.
- 26:46I hadn't looked at it that way. I'm not saying
- 26:50I do either, I'm just saying. Might be a thought
- 26:54to keep in the back of your brain. Going back
- 26:57to your point, he was a self -taught demonologist
- 26:59too. How wild is that? Does that also, do you
- 27:02think, in your opinion, Brie, kind of invalidate...
- 27:05I mean, how do you... Maybe not invalidate, but
- 27:08how do you weigh that? No one just becomes a
- 27:14demonologist in the Catholic Church just overnight.
- 27:18Yeah, I don't know. I don't even know how you
- 27:23would do that. Just read a lot of books? I feel
- 27:28like you need a lot of experience to become a
- 27:33self -taught demonologist or self -taught exorcist.
- 27:40Whatever he was. Like, did he get a how -to guide
- 27:43off Craigslist? I don't, like, how do you even
- 27:47go about that? Especially back then. I actually
- 27:51do have the answer. Oh, you do? Yeah. So, there
- 27:56was a well -known demonologist out in the East
- 28:00Coast, and he found out where this guy lived,
- 28:03and he painted his house. Oh my god, Ben. Are
- 28:10you making this up, or is this... He exchanged
- 28:13his portrait for the Secrets of the Universe.
- 28:18You're making this up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But
- 28:21also, he was a self -taught painter, and that...
- 28:24So, maybe you have to self -teach yourself how
- 28:27to paint to then paint your way to becoming a
- 28:31self -taught demonologist. How absurd. Become
- 28:35a painter. yes there's a lot of money in paint
- 28:40and ghosts somehow he made a living doing both
- 28:43yeah i feel like i don't know i just like popped
- 28:47in my brain because we're talking about painting
- 28:49and ghost hunting and all that stuff and i feel
- 28:51like you know there there are people who use
- 28:54paint as a medium for um connecting like they
- 29:02with spirits like so automatic um writing yeah
- 29:09kind of i mean that's i mean it's interesting
- 29:13i wonder if like i mean yeah he was painting
- 29:16portraits of the house but like was he specifically
- 29:20painting them because he thought there was something
- 29:24going on there and trying to connect or like
- 29:27i mean was that the point was there an element
- 29:32of like a preliminary investigation through art
- 29:36That's really cool. That's really cool. So I
- 29:42guess to end this, like I said, we need to keep
- 29:46a timer because we can talk all day. So what's
- 29:49your final stance? The important part with the
- 29:53Warrens is they made such a big impact on the
- 29:58paranormal community. It would not be what it
- 30:01is today without them. But... There is the unfortunate
- 30:06parts of history where they kind of leave a stain
- 30:09on the community as well. So you can't have the
- 30:14paranormal community without the Warrens, but
- 30:18they're there. And we haven't even gone into
- 30:23the cult. I consider them a cult. Every event
- 30:27we do that's a large event, there's always some
- 30:30person that's like, they... have a photo that
- 30:35they took with ed and lauren warren like 50 years
- 30:37ago that they have framed and they said like
- 30:39i met the warrens i'm continuing their legacy
- 30:42uh everything's a demon and you need to prepare
- 30:46for the spiritual warfare you know it's like
- 30:49there's all these people out there i think it's
- 30:52like kind of cultish yeah people look up to them
- 30:57too heavily on information you know Because also,
- 31:03the paranormal is always evolving, right? Yeah.
- 31:06The paranormal is a constantly evolving field.
- 31:11And when someone consistently makes wild claims
- 31:16back in the 1960s through the 80s, right? That
- 31:25wasn't at their prime. When someone's consistently
- 31:29making wild claims and have a movie franchise
- 31:32based on their cases 50 years ago. I mean, you
- 31:39can have them as role models, but also acknowledge
- 31:42that their books aren't gospel. Especially when
- 31:48even they, their first books. naturally contradicts
- 31:53some of the things they said contradict with
- 31:55things they said later in their later books.
- 31:56Because they were even learning and evolving.
- 31:59So you can't just pick up one book by them and
- 32:01be like, what is it here? It's true. Or read
- 32:04just one chapter. True. They didn't even talk
- 32:09about the sandwiches! Ah! See, they're missing
- 32:13something right there. They didn't pick up on
- 32:16the sandwiches. No. What are your final thoughts,
- 32:19Angela, on the Warrens? I don't know. Do you
- 32:24think about them much outside of the movies?
- 32:27No, I just like the movies. I'm not a fan of
- 32:30them. I'm a fan of the movies. Yeah. I feel like
- 32:35there are some people in the paranormal community
- 32:38that focus and use their books, their information
- 32:44too heavily and don't think for themselves. Like
- 32:48you said, they view it as the Bible, a gospel.
- 32:53You know what I mean? It's just... I don't know.
- 32:59I'll give them that, though. The Warrens had
- 33:01a way of exploiting families and their fears
- 33:05for money, so if you are going to follow in the
- 33:08footsteps of the Warrens, you might as well exploit
- 33:10the Warrens' legacy for your own personal gain,
- 33:13because that's what they would have done. Huh.
- 33:17I guess that's one way to look at it. That's
- 33:21how you look at it through a paranormal lens,
- 33:23am I right? Thanks for listening to this week's
