- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Not yet.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Also, just by the way, have you done many podcasts?
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: No, this is my first one.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:08SPEAKER_04: Cheers.
- 1:10SPEAKER_04: Cheers to my suspicious situation.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: It kind of feels like you're drinking like an Alaze drink or something.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: I'm thinking like a something going on there, but it's alright.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what is your drink of choice?
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: Ooh.
- 1:29SPEAKER_04: Like a coconut water.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: Something very very different.
- 1:34SPEAKER_04: I know you showed me that.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: And and and ironically, I went for the power in this moment.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: We can do a little cocktail later.
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, we can do anything.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Have you actually tried that chocolate coconut water?
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: No, but I will after this.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna give you that bottle.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: And you can take it with you today.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: It is unbelievable.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: It goes off the shelves.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Like I feel like it's never available.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: You don't know.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: Is it an Aussie?
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: No, is it an Aussie thing?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, yeah.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: I'm ready.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: It's amazing.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: It's unbelievable.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Like, um, so I think like if what people don't know is that like a few years ago they actually brought this out.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: It didn't go viral though.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: The power of virality, guys.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: So um they had one and it was coffee, like a full shot espresso plus coconut water, but they just served it in like a one-size thing.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: And I used to drink them all the time.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: And then a few they stopped producing them, and I was so upset about it.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: And then all of a sudden, they brought out this like full litre size one with chocolate flavour, and they were so hard to get on the shelves.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Like you people were like buying them in bulk, like it was an epidemic.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: I can't wait to try this.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be amazing.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: So now they've actually brought back the coffee one.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and highly recommend.
- 2:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's like a coffee is my like thing.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: Oh and down here, you guys just have the best.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: How has your coffee tasting experience been so far?
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: It's amazing.
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: Um, the coffee experience has been unreal.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: You guys have something that America just wishes that they I mean we were talking about it yesterday in another interview, but like the fact that Maccas has an espresso machine in it, let's just talk about that for a second.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, 100%.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: In America, it is the most unfortunate situation you've ever seen when it comes to like the McCaffey coffee.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: But like here, there's someone who's like actually frothing the milk and doing the thing.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: So it's like it's it's amazing.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: We've had a great time.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I feel like some artists don't when they come here, they're like, oh, just give me the black coffee.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they just want to drip.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: I've had probably 30 flat whites.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm not joking.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: It's it's been it's been an adventure.
- 3:48SPEAKER_04: Me and me and my band, we love just exploring anywhere like we can find the best little spots.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Where's been your best one so far in Australia?
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: The best coffee?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:58SPEAKER_04: We loved this place in Melbourne called Bench Coffee Company.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: And it's uh a little bit south of Fitzroy.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's a tricky area, so there's literally on every corner in every city we've been to, has just been the best stuff.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: It's been great coffee.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: It's been great.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, and you're you're ordering a flat white.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Flat white, everything.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, some people in Australia call that like a flatty.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: A flatty.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: It's like a thing, yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna walk up to the counter.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: A flatty from Maccas.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: I feel like that's macus is unreal.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I'm actually pretty impressed with your um Aussie terminology without trying.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Like the way you said Melbourne.
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you.
- 4:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: I try to pick it up.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: Melbourne.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: Melbourne.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Melbourne.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: No, none none of that.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Melbourne.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: This is your first trip.
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: This is my first trip.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Welcome.
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: But uh, but I have a friend named Jack Gray, okay, who is an Aussie artist as well.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: And uh I've picked up some accent from him, and then uh I watched a lot of Bondi Rescue.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Have you been to Bondi yet?
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: I'm staying in Bondai.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: In Bondi.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Have you been for a swim?
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Uh not a swim.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: But my guitarist Adam jumped in the um the iceberg.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Icebergs?
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: That and it was just I watched him with jealousy as he I didn't pack my suit and it like was a cloudy day, and then it turned sunny.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: And he just whipped one out of his tote bag, and I was like, ah.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's a very Aussie thing to do, is just always carry around a pair of swimmers.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: It's such a good idea.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: I think I have them in my bag at most times or in my car.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: I have a pick.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: It's just, yeah, the coast, we did like the coastal walk from Bondi down to the end, and we were just blown away.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Blown away.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: It's just been such a good time being able to have some days off between the festivals and just like really soak it in and experience.
- 6:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Which I feel like not many artists get to do when they're in Australia.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: We find they're very we're like, have you done all these things?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And they're like, we're in and out.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Like, and it's so hard to convince people to come to Australia because we're like, there's so many amazing things to do, and then they have never they never have enough time to see it.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: So then they're like, oh, the flight's so long.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I'm sold.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: Can I tell you that on the flight here?
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: So my my the worst part of my flight over here was the Nashville to San Francisco, just across our country.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And then that's like the short of right, yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Then the 15 and a half hours, I didn't even put my headphones on.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Wait, you raw dogged it?
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, the whole flight.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: Did you watch a movie?
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: What did you do?
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: I just slept and just sat with myself.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: But you know, I was impressive.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: I was pretty sick, which will go into like some of the Ballarat story of that first festival.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: But unfortunately, I was just run ragged like just before coming here.
- 7:06SPEAKER_04: So to put it in perspective, the most sleep that I had gotten in a week and a half was that flight.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you were.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: So I was happy to just be like in my own zone.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: But I did not expect we we were landing, and I was like, I didn't even do anything.
- 7:23SPEAKER_04: That's crazy.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: It was crazy.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: That sounds like a great that's a great way to fly.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: That's that's typically what I do.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Before I like a long haul, I'll just make myself really tired.
- 7:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, just take a couple Thailand LPMs and call it a day.
- 7:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: So the reason you were so busy is because you've been touring so much?
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: So much, yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: And then just like some really I had like just a couple days off in between some of these like big chunks, and then those days just dropped off with with some other things.
- 7:52SPEAKER_04: But it's been great.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: It's been so fun, like so blessed to to be able to go around and and play music and connect with people, and it's it's just awesome.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: What does a typical day in the life look like for you when you have your time off?
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, well, I mean, we're trying to get outside as much as possible.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: If if if I'm like with the boys on the road.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: My luckily, I think it's pretty rare as far as what I've heard, but having like a band and crew that just like all are aligned on just good food, good hangs, trying to just get out there in the sunshine and explore nature.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: Like, that is number one.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: We're trying to find some gardens somewhere, and just like toss a football, you know, just like just enjoy, enjoy the simple things in life.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: So that's like what I usually do.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: If I'm home in the mountains, I'll just drive my truck around, just go to the lake, see what's going on.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: It's the same thing every day.
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: So it's just like hey Bob, how's how's the wife?
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: How's the kids?
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: Just stopping into the little spots.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: How good did you grow up playing while I um a little bit of Alez A.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: Just getting notes of blue five.
- 9:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's good, isn't it?
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: Yellow five.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: So funny.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Did you grow up playing football?
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Um, well, funny enough, my small private school had a flag football team.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I love flag football! It's okay.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: It's okay.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: I'm glad you like it.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: You can have it.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Wait, what is it?
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: Flag football is like no tackling.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: So you have to- It's like the touch version of NFL.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: So, like NFL, you have flag football, NRO you have, yeah.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: And then there's these little yellow flags that hang off of your waist, and then people have to grab them.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: But I broke my arm playing that.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: And I was just like How did you do that?
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Must have been a very vicious game.
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: It was a big fall.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: And I I was diving, and I was just like, you know what?
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: This is why I have spent so much time learning instruments.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: So that I just I can just leave this this out.
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: But I love like I do a lot of singular sports.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: So like wake surfing, snowboarding, big snowboarding town and where I'm from.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 10:18SPEAKER_04: And just all of that kind of sport stuff.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: But team sports, never really my thing.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Not your thing.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Is that what kind of pushed you to go into music a bit more?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Like that injury kind of a little bit.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like the the fact that I was not a sports guy and that I just had a lot of that extra time to devote to learning guitar.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: And just I I played piano since I was like four or five.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Just my parents got me like a little cat keyboard.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm talking about?
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: Just obnoxious as hell.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: And uh, I just started learning like little songs when I was a kid, and then my hands got bigger and I was able to play.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: When did you learn to play the harmonica?
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Because you are fantastic at the harmonica.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: We need to take a moment to talk about your harmonicas.
- 11:01SPEAKER_03: Let's take a moment.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Take a moment, a moment of silence.
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: We're huge harmonic fans of harmonicas in the world.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: Particularly your songs.
- 11:14SPEAKER_04: That's so cool.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: So, like, I've I've been told that that the way I play is is quite like sophisticated when it comes to the harmonica.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: Because I I mean, for me, it's just a lot of blow suck blow.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: It's just, it's just it's not as easy as you might think.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: But no, no, I've tried.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: Let's clarify this.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: He's tried to harmonica.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I've tried to play harmonica, and it's not as it's you're under selling your talent to blow suck blow, okay?
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: I I I understand, I do, because I I definitely I've heard some other other people play.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Myself.
- 11:59SPEAKER_04: I won't I won't name names, but I'm like interesting.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: That's not the vibe.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: But anyway, the the the challenge is that you have to have like this is a funny story.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: So each one is a different key, right?
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: And so you really gotta keep track of that because I have many different songs with different keys.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: And I'll never forget, I think I I was opening up for Ty Myers somewhere, and I go out, and my first song, I think is a song of mine called Red Bandana that I was playing.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: We love that one.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: And I just I'm playing the song, energy's up immediately, like things are happening, but then I go to play the harmonica, and it is in the wrong key.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you, can you tell that badly on harmonica?
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes, you can.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: There is no keeping people in the crowd, yeah.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: Guys, I wish that I could show you it is the the juxtaposition, the the harshness.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: It it there's a lot of things you can come back from on the studio.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: I you can't just keep going with the song.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: So, what did you do?
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: I I stopped I had to stop the show and and get get the other one.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Wait, so what did you did you say?
- 13:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, I was like, you guys, I was like, I'm so sorry.
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: This is sounds horrible.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: I was like, I was like, let's get this right.
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: I was like, this is gonna be awesome.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: I was like, once I land this, we're all gonna be so excited.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: And then I put the right I put the right one on, and then it's kind of funny the psychology of of a show because I think those moments are so human.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: They are and then being like, trust me, it there's like a bit of distrust in that first song, and then you're like, they're like, what's gonna happen?
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: And then you're like, don't worry, watch me like recover and just land this harder than I've ever landed it, and then like I threw the right one on, and then they're just like so that's that's a fun part.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: But when I when I sat down to write Save My Soul, that actually I had gotten a harmonica for the first time, maybe two days before that.
- 14:13SPEAKER_04: So that was like the beginning.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Wait, that was like the first time you'd learn how to play the harmonica.
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: It's crazy.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: So there's hope for me.
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: No, there is plenty of hope for you.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: Two days before I had written that song, I just was really blown away by the feeling of like playing a guitar and and playing the harmonic.
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: It just felt so right.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: And I was just around my my fireplace out in the mountains, and that little riff came to me, and I had no idea what would happen with that.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: I zero clue.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: And I think that's the beautiful part about music, is like you really have no idea what will happen with a song, and like it that song is five minutes and seven seconds long, it has three obnoxiously long verses, and like I just I I had no idea that people would connect, and now I just love I I can play it a million times and never get bored of it, so it's really cool.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: I have two questions.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: One, who gave you the harmonica?
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Like, I just went out and bought one.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I was like, you know what?
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm I'm missing something.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Every time you have that.
- 15:21SPEAKER_04: I was I was missing something in my life, you know.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: So you just went out and bought one, and I just felt it just felt like such a thing that I just had to have, and so I went.
- 15:32SPEAKER_04: This is another funny story.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: So in down from the mountains of where my hometown is by Yosemite National Park, I have to drive about an hour to get anything or do anything really.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: Like a guitar center, which is like a music shop.
- 15:52SPEAKER_04: Um there's one in Fresno, which is in the city, down about an hour away.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: And for some reason, I never went in and just bought like a whole pack of all the harmonicas I needed.
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: And so, like, I went and got one, and it was like the same girl who was checking me out every time.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: So, like, a week would go by and I'd like get another key.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: And then like a week would go by and I'd like get another key.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: It sounds like this out of a love story.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: There was no love in favor.
- 16:22SPEAKER_04: There was no it was all of them.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: It was a very it was a very Ital shop.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: If the stars were aligned, it would be like if I like if I if I did it because I was like, I'll just keep getting home with this.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: But that's kind of I should just gotta man up and just do it, you know?
- 16:42SPEAKER_04: Just but anyway, I wait.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Do we have a crush with this gap?
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: No, there was it was purely a transactional I want this.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: She was not very enthused either.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: It it would be more interesting if she there was just no like Okay, okay, there's no vibe.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: But she was like, why?
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: Why are you coming in and buying more and more harmonicas?
- 17:04SPEAKER_04: And then like at this time, I was really like the videos that I were post that I was posting were really like doing some some things online, and I was just like laughing at the idea that like she has no idea why in the hell I'm buying these harmonicas to like actually like make something up up there that you know it it's it's cool, but uh I hope she's doing alright.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Special mention to the good special skills.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Oh what made you post a video for the first time on like Instagram or TikTok?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: That first video, what was like because I think it is quite a vulnerable thing to like post that and like what kind of convinced you to finally like do that first video?
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: That's a really good question, especially because when I first started posting videos, it was just not a good like I was just not very good.
- 18:04SPEAKER_04: And I kind of feel like that's not true.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: That's that's sweet of you to say.
- 18:08SPEAKER_04: It's just crazy, like I was so young, and I guess it's just that undeniable feeling of like having to put yourself out there.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: Like there was no choice for me.
- 18:19SPEAKER_04: I like had to do it.
- 18:21SPEAKER_04: It was just inside me in a way that I just had to post, I had to get myself out there, and I think I had a a thought about it of like there is literally nothing to lose here in this situation.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: You just put yourself out there and amazing things just like start happening, and it's never stopped since then.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: So I just always love to put myself out there and do things like this, and it's just it never uh never hurts to put yourself out there a little bit.
- 18:54SPEAKER_04: But I think why did I post the first video?
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: Probably for a girl to see it.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: The girl the girl has angels.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: That's that's what my first songs that I ever put out.
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: I I really only intended for like one person to hear them.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: It's like when people post on their stories and you know like they're just posting for that one.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Which isn't a game.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: But I get it.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: It's like really embarrassing, but but yes, it that's and then it just tumbled into what it is now, which is so weird to me.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: It's crazy.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: It is crazy.
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: It's wild.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: What do you think about your videos made them go so viral?
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: That's a really good question because obviously I'm always trying to like repeat things, like like uh repeat success uh with when it comes to social media, it's like you're wanting a desired outcome for like as many people to see it as possible.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: So I myself am like doing the figurings of being like, why did this work?
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Why did this not work?
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: I think that for the stuff that's worked, it's just people can feel that I'm being honest.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: And I think that online my only goal was to give people like an escape from the doom scroll, and just to be able to like, hey, if you want to watch this, cool.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: If you don't, like this isn't for you, like that's fine.
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: But I just wanted to offer like a pure honest space of like this is just who I am, where I'm from, and what I do, all wrapped in one little scenic thing.
- 20:36SPEAKER_04: But it's very hard to capture like music in a video, and that's why like all of the stuff that I've really done is live capture, like I'm actually playing, like it's no lip syncs or anything.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: Because every time you start lip syncing something, it's just like the honesty level just goes kind of down, and even if you're being honest and it's your own song, it's the record, it's the master, it just like doesn't translate the same way, in my opinion.
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: But so I would just strum it.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: I totally because that's how I've discovered you from Red Bandana and Save My Soul.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Is both from TikTok, and I think we talk about this all the time.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Is now in Australia we don't listen to radio as much.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: It's not like a way to discover music.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Particularly for young people.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: It is such a okay, how are we discovering new music these days?
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: And I think TikTok is like the best part, but it's your I think your instrumentals is so good.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: That's what draws me to your songs.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: Is like sometimes I think nowadays everything can be a bit overproduced sometimes, or like you can feel it's like a bit fake in that way, but because you are using real instruments, it that authenticity kind of comes out through that way.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: That means a lot to me.
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 21:54SPEAKER_04: I like I've put a big emphasis on trying to like make that what I like.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Lead with, put my put that foot forward.
- 22:03SPEAKER_04: And that means a lot to me.
- 22:05SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: Red which do you remember like Red Bandana was first?
- 22:09SPEAKER_04: Crazy.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: That's the one I and we listened.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: We went on a road trip.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: We went on a road trip from here all the way to do you know where Adelaide is?
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: So past that ride.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: That's unreal.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Double the distance from the five.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Really, really far.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So like 25-hour drive.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: And we did it in a week and we just like two weeks.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: The round trip was like two and a half.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: And we every time we'd get into the car, we'd be like, what should we listen to?
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Red bag?
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: It seemed like the stuff.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, road trip song.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Do you reckon you just like when you're thinking about like making the song, do you think about a situation in mind where you think it would be good to listen to, or are you just vibing?
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 22:51SPEAKER_04: Like there's certain songs that I make that that is not a part of my brain space at all.
- 22:58SPEAKER_04: But there's certain songs, like a a new one that I just dropped called Bleeding Heart, that like that one windows down, speed going up.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: And it's like that's I I I could I could see kind of a glimpse into that.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: But what's crazy is like when you're making music, like I had no idea that you guys were listening to that song on a road trip, and now we're here and you get to tell me.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: But it's like I had no I there's so many people that are listening, I have no idea what their experiences are with the song, and that to me is this cool little mystery that I'll never figure out unless I'm told like this and it's just really cool.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: It's really cool.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: But yeah, like those videos that I posted with that, like I would wake up and like Tate McRae would just be like commenting on red bandana, and I'd be like, how did that reach like this is really weird?
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: Like that's that's just a strange thing, and I'm still very perplexed by the internet, and I I don't really I don't really like it.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: You can't figure it out.
- 24:05SPEAKER_04: I yeah, and also it's just it's a real shame that I have to feed the beast of being part of someone's doom scroll that I wish I wish that it didn't exist at all.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: I wish that people would take their lives back and and just put the phone down because God, it's just it is not it is not good.
- 24:27SPEAKER_04: We're we're going down a really weird dark path of of sorry to bring that onto the podcast.
- 24:34SPEAKER_04: I seriously implore anyone to just like reclaim your life and like put the phone down because it is stealing the most valuable thing you have, which is like we wonder, nothing in life is free.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: Why are these apps free?
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: You're paying with your time, you're paying with your life.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: That's so true.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: No, I love it.
- 24:54SPEAKER_04: You're paying with your life back to the fun stuff.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but then you gotta think about like the other side of it, right?
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Like that you're then we then create a moment and a memory from that song that we found on the internet.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the lights, the light side of that is trying to like on that note, trying to put something into the world and into that stream that does uplift people and like in a positive way, in a positive way, and like at least someone can find that and take it away into into soundtracking their real life and going and making real memories to that, and like that is why I love it.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: And I guess I got a little carried away by the darkness of that because it is it's so heavy on my heart, 100%.
- 25:39SPEAKER_04: But really, it is a beautiful thing to be able to connect and try to put my best foot forward on the internet.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: So 100%.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm so now it's landed you in Australia.
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: We're here.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: Tell us about Strumming Bird.
- 25:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was an amazing time.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: I actually have a little a bit of a miracle story for Ballarat.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: So, like I said, just make it seem like that.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be so good with it.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Delectable.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: Um I was sick coming over, and I just had this like gnarly cough, and I was just really, really just torn up.
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: And when it came time to play, I was like really not in good shape.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: About two hours before, like, we're setting all the gear up to be like set up for stage, and I try to like sing through just a verse of my first song on the set, and I couldn't do it without just like just hacking up a lung.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I don't really get nervous for shows much, but I do when I feel unprepared for something like happens, and I was like, oh my god, like my first Australian debut, like I might have to like cancel this.
- 26:58SPEAKER_04: And I knew it was like great slot, like 6 p.m.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: I knew there were gonna be plenty of folks there, people excited to see me, and like oh the pressure is just I was just like, I wanted to give a good show.
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: And so I sent up some prayers and I was like, wow, I can't believe like this is this is gonna have to be like a a an actual miracle.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: And it was unreal out of nowhere, right before, and I mean, this is bad.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: Like, I was not in good shape.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: About to press the button of like you can't go out there, I could sing.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: What?
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: I could sing, and it wasn't my like my like most powerful show I've ever given.
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you can't do that every day.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: It was a really fun time, and the energy of the crowd, like I went out there and there were so many people, and I couldn't believe it, and I just I played the whole set, no problem.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: I have a fun story to tell you as well, actually.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: So on our last podcast, I talked about the fact that everyone needs to go see your show.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Oh at night at Ballarat, this guy came up to me, he goes, Oh, hi, and I was like, Hi.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: And then he was like, By the way, I didn't know who Noah Brinker was, I went to his show, he was amazing.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: That's so my power of the internet, yeah.
- 28:15SPEAKER_04: It's really cool.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: It that that's that's really awesome, and I just had the best time.
- 28:21SPEAKER_04: Like, Aussie fans are just unreal, like just the energy, and everyone's just so ready to listen to live music and just so fired up.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: It just inspires me because I like took my ear out, and I just couldn't believe just how much noise.
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: And just it was really beautiful.
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: I was really stoked that that was like the first debut, and now with these next two coming up, it's just gonna be rowdy.
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: I'm all rested up, you're good.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: All ready to roll.
- 28:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: You've got your Aussie slang.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: I feel like you can Aussie.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Have you done an Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi?
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: That's my next move.
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Do you need practice?
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you go and we'll be the crown.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
- 29:08unknown: Oi, okay, okay.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Aussie.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Oi.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Aussie.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Oi.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Oye, oye, oi.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: Boom.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: We're we're here.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: We're here.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: It's gonna go wild.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: What's going on over there?
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: We're gonna go crazy.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: We are and so we're we're excited for Strumming Bird, Newcastle, and then you've got Sunshine Coast.
- 29:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they should be pretty good shows as well.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: They'll have like a really fun crowd because the crowd will like be different in different areas of Australia.
- 29:33SPEAKER_04: I'm excited to see it.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's gonna be great.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Have you done anything like bucket list items of like activities while you've been in Australia?
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: I mean, here we've done that coastal walk, spent plenty of time in the Royal Botanical Gardens.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 29:48SPEAKER_04: Unreal.
- 29:49SPEAKER_04: Like the species of trees.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm I'm just into that, you know.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: I'm just a guy who's who's into some some arborist activities.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: I feel like you should go out to the blue mountains or something if you have time.
- 30:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, I would love to.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: How much time do you have left?
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: We don't have much, but we've been just cruising all around, like I said, like bucket list vibes of like just drinking as much coffee as possible.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: Just being a part of the atmosphere.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: I I will say a bucket list thing was we we did this uh like bathhouse thing up in Surrey, Surrey Hills.
- 30:27SPEAKER_04: Oh, round the corner, yeah, that's right.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Surrey Hills.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Wait, the new one that's just open?
- 30:31SPEAKER_04: It's it's called Sense of Self.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's the brand new one that's just open.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: It looks really nice.
- 30:37SPEAKER_04: It was unreal.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Do they have a little magnesium pool for you?
- 30:42SPEAKER_04: Nice! Felt refreshed.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: It was great.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Wow, maybe that's what happened.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: Oh no, that was before that was after.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: You've been on your R R.
- 30:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh this this week has been great.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I mean Bucket List is just getting to explore Australia in a way that, like you said, most people when they come down here, it's just boom, boom, boom.
- 31:01SPEAKER_04: Just like trying to pack as many things in as possible.
- 31:04SPEAKER_04: So getting a little time to to really just soak it up was was really my favorite part.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: We play the game.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: We have a game to play with you.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: Let's play a game.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: So basically, we're gonna give you um Aussie icons.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: And you have to pick who you think is the most iconic Australian.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: And then some you might know.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna educate you on Okay, okay, great.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, the first two.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: We have Do you know who these people are?
- 31:35SPEAKER_04: Of course I do.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Nicole is having a moment right now with Adela's song, you know.
- 31:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: It's not so country, but you know the song.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's a song called Nicole Kidman.
- 31:47SPEAKER_04: And she's What?
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: It's no no no, you've heard the biggest thing in the world, Nicole.
- 31:50SPEAKER_04: Hold tight.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna grab it up.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: It's it you've definitely heard it.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: It's it must be crazy.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Oh This is about Nicole Kidman.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: It is every single one.
- 32:02SPEAKER_04: It's pretty wild.
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: What?
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: It's a wild song.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: It's called Nicole Kidman.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: I don't really get the reference, but anyways.
- 32:11SPEAKER_04: It's a reference to like a couple of her films, like Moulin Rouge, and like it's a reference to a specific role of Nicole.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: The role of Nicole.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: The role of Nicole.
- 32:22SPEAKER_04: So Chris Hemsworth and Nicole.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Impressive.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Who's more iconic?
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, gosh, it's hard not to say Nicole Kidman.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: I would agree.
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: Chris is such a legend, but.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: Do you know who that kind of?
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll have to bring the back up.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Robert?
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: Robert, what are you doing, man?
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: Have you not seen this campaign that you did?
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: I've not seen this campaign.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, I've only seen so viral.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: Bond is Australian.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the Bond is an Australian underwear brand.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Like very iconic Australian.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: And they did this campaign where he had a python.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Because he's obviously the nature guy.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: Well the animal guy, sorry, I should say.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: All I've ever seen is just wholesome, wholesome little Robert.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: And this broke the internet because of that.
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: Not so, not so little anymore.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, I would still I mean I would still say Nicole right now.
- 33:19SPEAKER_04: Because maybe, maybe Robert will ascend to a more, you know.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, the wiggles are Aussie?
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Yay!
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: No way.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I didn't know the wiggles were that big, like internationally.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, we gotta go with the wiggles right now.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, agreed.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: Because that's just unreal.
- 33:35SPEAKER_04: I didn't know that that's like my childhood.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: That's crazy.
- 33:40SPEAKER_04: How did I not know?
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's that publicly.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: But they would have Aussie access.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 33:47SPEAKER_04: I guess it just wasn't a thought.
- 33:49SPEAKER_04: And it's been a really long time.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Do you know who that is?
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: Is that Russell Crowe?
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: I'm impressed.
- 33:57SPEAKER_04: Russell Crowe.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: Russell Crowe's a legend.
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: I mean, Le Miz.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: Just, I mean, come on.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:04SPEAKER_04: That's not from Le Miz, though.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: No, from Gladiator.
- 34:06SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: That's on my movie list.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: I haven't seen Gladiator.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: The original or the new one?
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: I haven't seen it.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: I like who's in the new one?
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: I like him as an actor, I can't believe it.
- 34:14SPEAKER_04: But Russell Crowe.
- 34:15SPEAKER_04: Russell Crowe.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: Russell Crowe.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: Good choice.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: Legend.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Do you know who this is?
- 34:20SPEAKER_04: Who we got?
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: Who's that?
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Kylie Minogue.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's see.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: Do you know Kylie Minogue?
- 34:28SPEAKER_04: Does she have uh I'm gonna be so impressed if you know a song.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: I I know.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: It's not uh padam padam.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Wait, I think it is.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Hold on.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: We we gotta wait, this is probably her most famous.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, padam padam.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: It is?
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: I have a story about No, this is not this is Padam Padam.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: Yes, okay, so we we we landed in Sweden and my my buddy Magnus Farrell, he his family.
- 34:58SPEAKER_04: He's he's he's it is a cool name.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: Magnus.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: Um his family has like a farm out in in Sweden and we go there in the summer sometimes.
- 35:08SPEAKER_04: And like Swedish radio is just all like that vibe, and it's just like I was like, what is this song?
- 35:16SPEAKER_04: Like, badam, bad um, I am You're having the same moment that we had.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I was just like, what?
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: And it was uh it was Kylie.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: So let me see one more time.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: I still have to say Russell Crowe.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, this is a fun game, yeah, isn't it?
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's actually the first time we played this game.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I really will be surprised if you know who knows that you'll know, but Emily's losing that shit up that's it.
- 35:43SPEAKER_04: It's not happening for me, but who do we got?
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Totally okay.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: We'll give you a little bit of Aussie, a slice of Aussie culture today.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: So this is Kath and Kim.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: They uh it probably came out like in the 2000s.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: And they are it's like a kind of would you say it's like a it's a comedy?
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: It's a comedy show, TV show.
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: Like a sitcom?
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Not a sitcom, it's like it's it's like so quintessentially Australian.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And they've just like exaggerated every single character, and each character in the show, there's probably like four or five main characters, and they are so iconic.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Pinpoint every type of Australian series, basically.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: That's so good.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't, I would you do actually seem pretty clued in on like Aussie culture right now, so I'd say like maybe just watch an episode and see if you get any of the references.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: I gotta get an episode in.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like that's still Russell Crow.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: That's totally fair enough.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: There's the Lemiz situation right there.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: We got we got Hugh over here.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: I mean I'm seriously impressed with your knowledge.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Ah man, that's Hugh, Hugh takes the cake.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Hugh Jackson.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: You got to get it.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: No Steve After I just barged his little situation.
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: Uh no, no Steve.
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: No Steve Irwin on there.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: Well, I did Robert Irwin, because he's a bit more like would you have said Steve?
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, Steve.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: He is the just B, Aussie, go.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, he is.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: Okay, well I've been there.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: Q and Steve, but I mean Imagine if you had to choose between Robert and Steve.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: It's Steve.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's Steve every time I give you.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: I mean, I watch videos of that guy just talk about life and just like what it means to be alive.
- 37:37SPEAKER_04: And you're just like, wow, I just like that guy so much.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_04: He's very inspiring guy.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: I still can't like the Bondi Rescue.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: I just went back.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: We should talk Bondai Rescue where we should have.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: Bondai Rescue was I don't know why, but it just was on my YouTube algorithm for years.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: And I was just like thinking about that before, I was like, how did he watch it?
- 38:00SPEAKER_04: Man rescued after falling off cliff in each other.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Dude, I know I it would have been crazy.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Put your hand up.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: That's what we're gonna do.
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: I always wanted to have the the green whistle.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: They do, you do actually have to genuinely hurt yourself to do that.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: I know, but maybe they'll make an exception.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: Maybe, hey.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Knock on the door, the hey guy.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: That green whistle, please.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: I've lost a whistle.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: It's green.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: Please.
- 38:33SPEAKER_04: It just looks every time I see someone go from in a their most desperate situation to just Yeah, man.
- 38:44SPEAKER_04: I just I just want to be part of that.
- 38:47SPEAKER_04: Or be in there.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Alright, let's see what strings we can pull.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you're the love guy.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Surely they're the first aid person at Strummingbird.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: Make an injury.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, we have a segment.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: It's called Rush of the Week.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: So mine is Noah Khan.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Very rightful.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: He's just did a tour around Australia.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: Did you see a show?
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: No, I don't.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: I'm so annoyed.
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: I did it.
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: It was fantastic.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: Holly went.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: I I couldn't make it.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: And then I like didn't really listen to like a lot of his music beforehand.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: And then I was true gem.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: I was just overseas and I was listening to his whole Aussie New Zealand set list.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: And then I was like so annoyed because I didn't go.
- 39:33SPEAKER_04: It's the best show right now.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: The crowd also is.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: We really struggle in Australia.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: We find that the crowds sometimes in the arena shows, everyone sits down the whole time and is just watching the show.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: Whereas we're massive dancers.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: We're like, get up, enjoy the show.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: And Noah Khan, the mosh was like going crazy.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: And I was like, this is the vibe we want for everything.
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: It's the best show on the road right now, in my opinion.
- 40:00SPEAKER_04: I I have yet to see it, but every clip that I've seen and everything I know from like their team and all that, like just unreal, unreal.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: So that's Michael Makagi.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: You'd be really good in like a song with him.

- 40:21SPEAKER_04: Marcage.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, I didn't say I've called him Makage for like a year.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: Oh people with difficult last names understand.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:32SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: I mean, Noah Khan.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: People called that dude Noah Kahan thing.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: Literally years until until people really got a grip on it.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: So is it Michael McCay McKagey?
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: Marcagee.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: Marcage.
- 40:46SPEAKER_04: To my understanding.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's what he said in the content.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: I'm sure you'll get a text if it's not.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: He's great though.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Um, my cowboy crush is Colton Moore.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you've heard of him, but he has some solo stuff, but then he does a collab with The Clever Few.

- 41:09SPEAKER_00: His voice is unreal.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: He also has a harmonica section in one of his songs, hence why I love it.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Um I gotta check him out.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's really cool.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: It's a bit more like rocky almost, I would say, but very cowboy crush.
- 41:25SPEAKER_04: My cowboy crush is Caleb Follow of Kings of Leon.
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: I'm on the biggest Kings of Leon kit.

- 42:29SPEAKER_04: I would say I mean there's so many.
