- 0:00Speaker 1: That's real.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Joel called it a firefighter dad mustache.
- 0:04Speaker 1: It doesn't look like a firefighter dad mustache. It looks
- 0:07Speaker 1: a little gay pornish. Though. I'm not gonna lie.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Ray, I'll take either one.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Both, both, both styles bison very sexy.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Sure there's firefighter dad gay porn.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Dude. I'm willing to bet money that there's a firefighter
- 0:21Speaker 1: dad gay porn thing out. What do you think of it?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Listen, I tried to grow a full beard like yours.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It didn't work out so well, and I've decided to
- 0:29Speaker 2: try this for a while.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I think you look handsome as always.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I ran down the rim. By the way, I had
- 0:35Speaker 2: this like Povlovian response now that I'm like dialing into
- 0:38Speaker 2: the zoom call for this podcast, and I just started humming.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I red, what's up, Joel? What's up? Daniel? How's how's
- 0:49Speaker 1: a team?
- 0:50Speaker 2: High?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Hi seen each other in a really long time.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I know it's good to have you. Welcome to the broadcast,
- 0:57Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen for the very first time, doctors, real friends,
- 1:01Speaker 2: I've decided to join the spirit of Donald phase on
- 1:04Speaker 2: and have a little rose.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Oh no, guys, I want to go downstairs and get
- 1:10Speaker 1: me a drink? Now, can we do Can we take
- 1:11Speaker 1: a second to do that?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Why do you need to go down and get a
- 1:14Speaker 2: drink right now?
- 1:15Speaker 1: I guess I want to sip someone. I want to
- 1:17Speaker 1: sip something.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But you're gonna ruin my momentum. I'm on fire right now.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Okay, Well then if you're on fire, I'm gonna let
- 1:22Speaker 1: you go. I'm gonna let you go.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Why don't take a break. When we take a break,
- 1:25Speaker 2: you can run down.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We take a break, I'll run down. Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So I thought I thought i'd phase on out a
- 1:30Speaker 2: little and treat myself.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And I'm treat yourself. Treat yourself.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I mean, I know when it's not bourbon, it's rose.
- 1:38Speaker 1: But I was gonna go down and get a little
- 1:40Speaker 1: uh you know aligash they make a triple. Now, this
- 1:45Speaker 1: ship was so expensive. First of all, I spend twenty
- 1:48Speaker 1: one dollars on a bottle of beer. I've never spent
- 1:51Speaker 1: that much money on beer in my life.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I didn't even know beer could cost twenty one dollars.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Ridiculous, right, But apparently it's been aged in three times, Yes,
- 2:04Speaker 1: three times. It's old beer. It's so old.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I have Yeah, I miss you. I miss you so
- 2:14Speaker 2: much it hurt sometimes.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm going to chase something right now. I cried in
- 2:18Speaker 1: this episode.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very moving at the end.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I cried like a baby.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's very moving in the end. Yeah, just put a
- 2:29Speaker 2: good episode.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It's a great episode written by Bill Lawrence.
- 2:33Speaker 2: They are in the zone, the writers. And I'm not
- 2:36Speaker 2: to not to minimize the brilliant work of the cast,
- 2:39Speaker 2: but I feel the writers are really in the zone
- 2:41Speaker 2: in this section of season two, because they're all really good.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm going to agree with you. We had this conversation
- 2:46Speaker 1: with Johnny. We're getting toward the end of the series
- 2:48Speaker 1: of the season now, and look at how we're all
- 2:51Speaker 1: starting to click. Everything's starting to click, you know what
- 2:54Speaker 1: I mean. It's really amazing.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And this was the very first time they ever introduced right,
- 3:00Speaker 2: or does the West Side Story thing happen? Righty? Was
- 3:02Speaker 2: that season one music? Okay, so other than the West
- 3:06Speaker 2: Side Story thing? So I guess technically the second, but
- 3:09Speaker 2: this is the first time we enter well, I guess
- 3:12Speaker 2: we could say this is the first time we introduced
- 3:14Speaker 2: a musical element that was dramatic, right, because that was
- 3:17Speaker 2: so broad and silly, right.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I guess so, I mean, I guess we could count
- 3:22Speaker 1: Sam and Judy's.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Okay, you're writing, but they were sort of serenading. This
- 3:29Speaker 2: was a fantasy of going into Jill Tracy's death, fantasy
- 3:35Speaker 2: that dying was like a Broadway musical.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Dude, I cried so hard and a lot.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I got goosebumps. I got goosebumps. I'm getting goosebumps right
- 3:43Speaker 2: now talking about it. But when it happened, I got
- 3:46Speaker 2: goosebumps on every inch of my body. That's how powerful
- 3:50Speaker 2: it was.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It's such a strong moment. And maybe it's because of
- 3:53Speaker 1: you know, Nick, maybe it's because of Amanda, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: maybe I don't know, but it just put me in
- 3:58Speaker 1: a like I'm I was weeping weeping.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Do you think that? Do you think that the climate
- 4:05Speaker 2: of COVID and of course losing our friend has made
- 4:10Speaker 2: you overall more emotional to things?
- 4:17Speaker 1: I definitely, you know. I Okay, So here's the thing
- 4:20Speaker 1: about here's the thing about what COVID has done. And
- 4:24Speaker 1: we haven't seen anything like this, and I don't even
- 4:26Speaker 1: think when AIDS happened it was like this, like people
- 4:29Speaker 1: had months to live when AIDS came around back and
- 4:32Speaker 1: when we were kids.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But also we were so young we didn't really comprehend
- 4:36Speaker 2: aids when it was first going everywhere. This is like,
- 4:38Speaker 2: we're forty five and forty six, Like I think we
- 4:41Speaker 2: have such a more of awareness of it, you know
- 4:43Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 4:43Speaker 1: Right, absolutely, absolutely, And you know, people that you thought
- 4:49Speaker 1: you'd have more time with are now gone, you know
- 4:52Speaker 1: what I mean. Like, you know, when Nick was here,
- 4:54Speaker 1: we didn't hang out that much. We hung out a
- 4:56Speaker 1: little bit, but we didn't hang out that much, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: we were.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You were just you were just kind getting to know him.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Getting to know him, you know what I mean. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: I guess I want to say I took that for granted.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I took for granted that he would be around for
- 5:09Speaker 1: a while and that we would have way more time
- 5:13Speaker 1: to become tighter, because I knew that you and him
- 5:18Speaker 1: we were very close, And when you're very close to someone,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it becomes for me. For me, it's like, all right,
- 5:25Speaker 1: if Zach's close to this person, this person has to
- 5:27Speaker 1: be a cool person, so let me go and you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: get to know this person. So Nick and I were
- 5:33Speaker 1: on the verge of becoming closer, and then he was gone,
- 5:40Speaker 1: And when I watched this episode. That's what this that's
- 5:44Speaker 1: what this reminded me of. You know, we take so
- 5:47Speaker 1: many things for granted.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm also always moved by bravery in the face of death.
- 5:52Speaker 2: My father when he was dying, you know, I remember
- 5:54Speaker 2: him turning to my stepmother when he got the diagnosis
- 5:57Speaker 2: that he had cancer, and he said, we're gonna We're
- 5:59Speaker 2: gonna deal with this with dignity. And I think that Nick,
- 6:06Speaker 2: I'm not sure how conscious he was. I don't even
- 6:12Speaker 2: know if he knew what was going on past a
- 6:13Speaker 2: certain point. I have no idea, but I was very
- 6:17Speaker 2: moved in this episode two about about what it's about
- 6:20Speaker 2: is someone who's facing their death with pride and dignity
- 6:24Speaker 2: and strength and not being afraid. And I just I
- 6:28Speaker 2: think that that, you know, I guess what we're both
- 6:30Speaker 2: saying is in this It kind of caught us both
- 6:32Speaker 2: off guard that we're watching this network comedy that we
- 6:35Speaker 2: were both in and usually we sit around talking about
- 6:38Speaker 2: laughs and and what made us laugh and in each
- 6:41Speaker 2: moment and the funny fantasies. And then this was very
- 6:44Speaker 2: moving because of the death that's in the air, both
- 6:48Speaker 2: globally and in particular in our lives with Nick.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Dude, that's exactly what it is. And I don't know, man,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I you know, it just made me. It made me
- 7:01Speaker 1: realize how many things in life I've taken for granted.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And you know, I tried, you know, since Nick passed.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I try every day to tell you know, if we talk,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I try to tell you, you know, before we hang up.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I always try to tell you I love you. You
- 7:19Speaker 1: know what I mean. When we're on this call right now,
- 7:21Speaker 1: when we do this zoom while we're recording our podcast,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Fake Doctor's Real Friends, Uh, when we.
- 7:29Speaker 2: You don't have to give a plug to the people
- 7:31Speaker 2: that are listening.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Okay, I just I just thought, I it's.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Sort of a fool's errand.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, but but you know, just in case they
- 7:39Speaker 1: forgot what they were listening to. But we say I
- 7:42Speaker 1: love you to each other. You know, I've I've I've
- 7:46Speaker 1: never met Joelle in person, and I love her and
- 7:49Speaker 1: I tell her I love her before we hang up.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I tell her I love her. I tell Dan the
- 7:54Speaker 1: same thing. And you know, it's throw COVID out of
- 7:57Speaker 1: the situation. Let's just let's just talk about life in general.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Nothing's promised, Tomorrow's not promised, you know, the next hours
- 8:05Speaker 1: not promised. But I think it's important that we tell
- 8:09Speaker 1: our loved ones and the people that mean so much
- 8:12Speaker 1: to us how we feel about them. Yeah, and because
- 8:16Speaker 1: one it could it makes them feel wonderful, you know
- 8:20Speaker 1: what I mean? Oh, you know, to be loved by
- 8:21Speaker 1: somebody feels good? Am I wrong?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:24Speaker 1: It does.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And it doesn't cost you anything to profess your love.
- 8:29Speaker 2: That it doesn't cost It doesn't call I feel like
- 8:31Speaker 2: I'm Brene Brown right now, but it doesn't. It doesn't
- 8:34Speaker 2: cost you, as a human being anything to express it.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And we shouldn't. I think what you're saying, what I'm
- 8:41Speaker 2: getting for what you're saying is we shouldn't be shy
- 8:45Speaker 2: or insecure about expressing our love.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Absolutely not.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And that's because, of course, when the person dies, you go,
- 8:51Speaker 2: oh my god, I hope that I told them enough times.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I love With my father, you know, he was eighty
- 8:56Speaker 2: four and cancer was ramping up, so we had plenty
- 8:59Speaker 2: of time to be allying and to be and to
- 9:02Speaker 2: be hugging him and kissing him and telling me he
- 9:04Speaker 2: love you and clearing up any bullshit. But with you know,
- 9:07Speaker 2: with with Nick, it was just like we chopped him
- 9:10Speaker 2: off of the hospital. We didn't. We didn't get to
- 9:11Speaker 2: say anything.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's crazy, you know.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I mean I did tacee time goodbye, but I don't know.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I have no sense of I have no sense if
- 9:19Speaker 2: he heard any word of it. I feel bad these
- 9:22Speaker 2: people turned in for a comedic podcast.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Well, you know, we're talking about the epist.
- 9:27Speaker 2: We're keeping it real as they say.
- 9:29Speaker 1: They say, we're keeping it. We're talking about the episode.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Let's get into some other things though, before we start
- 9:33Speaker 1: this episode. Dude, Okay, so the mayor has said that
- 9:38Speaker 1: he will shut off your water in Los Angeles in
- 9:42Speaker 1: power and good for him.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Good for him.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You Okay, if you throw a party and there's a
- 9:48Speaker 1: bunch of people in your house and you've been warned
- 9:51Speaker 1: now that the mayor said the mayor has said I
- 9:55Speaker 1: will cut off your water, I have a little bit
- 9:57Speaker 1: of a problem with this. I'm not going to dude.
- 9:59Speaker 2: He's trying to come up with some out of the
- 10:00Speaker 2: box ideas. These people are still throwing fucking parties every day.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I totally understand that. I totally get that ship, but
- 10:08Speaker 1: when everybody leaves, I still need to wash my ass. Well,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you shouldn't have thrown a party.
- 10:12Speaker 2: That motherfucker.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Why did you throw a COVID party? Why do I
- 10:17Speaker 1: want to cook something?
- 10:20Speaker 2: How can how can Garcetti our mayor punish you the
- 10:24Speaker 2: idiot who through a COVID party?
- 10:26Speaker 1: He can? You know?
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think the reason with the thing with the fine
- 10:29Speaker 2: is people people with money are like, fuck it, I'll
- 10:32Speaker 2: be the fine, and he needed to come up with
- 10:35Speaker 2: some out of the box way to punish people. And
- 10:38Speaker 2: then what can the government control your powering, your water?
- 10:40Speaker 2: He's I'm sure shut that shit.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Off right now. Look, some people are mad about this,
- 10:45Speaker 1: Some people pe ode about this.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Like Joel and Daniel. What are your thoughts on this?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Don't you think it's kind of a badass, out of
- 10:51Speaker 2: the box idea.
- 10:52Speaker 3: It feels like the best parental threat that's never gonna happen, Like.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm your door off. It's the bridge storing down there.
- 11:02Speaker 3: But the threat might keep me, you know, in control
- 11:05Speaker 3: and my my temper, my expectations of what I might
- 11:08Speaker 3: be able to get away with. So I feel like
- 11:10Speaker 3: it's one of those I've had. A twenty four hour
- 11:12Speaker 3: power shut off is like a really great like brot
- 11:16Speaker 3: that don't.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Do it, but it's like a.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Human access that makes it feel weird.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's like a parent going on Donald that I always
- 11:26Speaker 2: see Donald do that ship with his kids. Whoa he
- 11:30Speaker 2: never he never gets to three. He's like two point six. Right.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It's not because my kids all of a sudden's like, Yo, dude,
- 11:40Speaker 1: Dad Dad, dadd Okay da da Dad Dad Dad. I'm okay,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm good. It's because I can't my punishment. I don't
- 11:45Speaker 1: want to deliver the punishment. Dan say something. Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Personally, I think you know, the big problem with people
- 11:53Speaker 4: throwing parties in LA is that, like it's not you know,
- 11:57Speaker 4: Joe rich person inviting their friends in the neighborhood over
- 12:00Speaker 4: to their house. It's like kids who will rent an
- 12:03Speaker 4: empty mansion invite five hundred people over and like even
- 12:07Speaker 4: then they're drinking the thirty racks they brought over and
- 12:10Speaker 4: smoking weed in the backyard and then leaving. Like turning
- 12:13Speaker 4: off the water and power at that place isn't going
- 12:15Speaker 4: to do any So.
- 12:19Speaker 2: The poor guy who rented in the house is like, yeah, exactly, though.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I think, you know, if it's the kind of thing
- 12:25Speaker 4: that's going to end up punishing a whole neighborhood, and
- 12:28Speaker 4: it's a kind of a group effort to be like,
- 12:30Speaker 4: if you fuck this up, for everybody in the neighborhood,
- 12:32Speaker 4: you're fucked.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Then like that might.
- 12:35Speaker 4: That that really brings the commute. I mean, what I'm
- 12:37Speaker 4: saying is like, if you want to make a punishment punishment,
- 12:40Speaker 4: it's got to be a punishment punishment because if it's like,
- 12:42Speaker 4: just turn off the water to this one place.
- 12:44Speaker 2: You're suggesting that he turned off the water for the
- 12:46Speaker 2: whole street.
- 12:47Speaker 4: No, I mean like I don't know.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I mean, look, I just I'm saying it's I don't know,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I don't least I least appreciated. Listen. I love it
- 12:57Speaker 2: when someone comes up with an out of the box idea. Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 2: there was some meaning. There was some meaning in city
- 13:03Speaker 2: Hall where they were like, there's anybody having out of
- 13:05Speaker 2: the box.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Sometimes, what if we turn off their water and power?
- 13:12Speaker 2: I don't know. Oh, I don't know. Man, It's crazy.
- 13:16Speaker 2: It's crazy because people don't give a fuck. As you
- 13:17Speaker 2: see I mean, as you see you.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Going to the store. There's some bullshit going on where
- 13:22Speaker 1: people are like, I'm part of an alliance and we
- 13:25Speaker 1: will sue you if.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I saw that you know what, that was a Meg
- 13:29Speaker 2: that was like an extra Karen. That was like Karen.
- 13:31Speaker 2: That was like a duble black diamond Karen.
- 13:33Speaker 1: That's uber Karen. That's uber Karen double.
- 13:38Speaker 2: She had this fucking Karen had a fake Karen badge
- 13:42Speaker 2: and she was giving out fake citations. Two employees of
- 13:46Speaker 2: this store that told her to put on a mask.
- 13:49Speaker 2: She was like, I'm with the Freedom Alliance and you
- 13:51Speaker 2: will be sued for infringing upon my right. I mean,
- 13:54Speaker 2: the woman made a fucking badge.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yeah, to be a.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Federal agent, which is definitely fine.
- 14:00Speaker 1: That's definitely a crime. That's a felony.
- 14:02Speaker 3: You cannot do that. It's just so redye. And what
- 14:04Speaker 3: is this poor girl making six seventy five an.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Hour gonna do. She's just working. Okay, she's right, she's bad.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That's not so bad for that girl.
- 14:12Speaker 2: She she clearly didn't understand if this was a legit
- 14:15Speaker 2: paperwork or not.
- 14:15Speaker 1: She was like, uh, okay.
- 14:20Speaker 5: For you.
- 14:20Speaker 1: She got her manager. Her manager was like, shot, I don't.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Know, like the manager of a supermarket's gonna know whether.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean, the woman was clearly fucking bad ship I mean.
- 14:31Speaker 6: Anyway, was like a federal agent. We're in some strange times.
- 14:35Speaker 6: People aw man, and people are just losing their mind.
- 14:38Speaker 6: But it's okay, it's okay, it's oh.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Are you sure it's okay. I need you to come
- 14:44Speaker 2: for me like you come for your children.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Listen, it's all good at the end of the day,
- 14:50Speaker 1: as j D says, yeah, some of them like this
- 14:54Speaker 1: is gonna you know what, as a matter of fact,
- 14:56Speaker 1: let's do this and then I'll get into my summary
- 14:57Speaker 1: of the episode. I'm six seven stories. I'm not show.
- 15:02Speaker 2: We made about a bunch of times and nurses in Canada.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I said, he's the stories natural. So YadA round here,
- 15:16Speaker 1: yeader round here.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I wanted to say, what you're trying to get it?
- 15:25Speaker 2: You know, if you say five to six of eight,
- 15:26Speaker 2: it starts the theme song. But if you say what
- 15:29Speaker 2: two three, it goes in what you're trying to get into?
- 15:33Speaker 2: What dash watch you trying? Oh there's been remixes of.
- 15:38Speaker 1: That song, such a hit song.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I got a lot of people telling me who are
- 15:41Speaker 2: in the music industry that the song is fire. If
- 15:44Speaker 2: it only had more than one lyric, it would be
- 15:47Speaker 2: a hit.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Well, look, man, you know, tell them to write some shit.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm sure Charlie t can write something. Dudes writing five
- 15:52Speaker 1: dollars foot long commercials now five dollars.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Hey, listen, let Charlie make his money.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Charlie, get that money, baby. Everybody needs a purple Lambeau, right, right,
- 16:04Speaker 1: of course they do. From that.
- 16:06Speaker 2: It's not from the Donald Glover song. This is America.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Make that money, make that money.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah, he does say that.
- 16:12Speaker 1: He does say that. I love to know Donald Glover man.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I love Lando Calrissian from now on. Whenever I see your.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Fucking Star Wars Bengo card everybody.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Now on, whenever I see Donald Glover, he is. He's
- 16:24Speaker 1: no longer childish scambino, He's now Lando.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I don't get him, really, the guy really did. I
- 16:31Speaker 2: never knew Donald Glover because I didn't watch the show
- 16:34Speaker 2: he was on. I didn't watch Community, Unitator Community, And
- 16:38Speaker 2: then I mean, holy shit, what I just had. I
- 16:42Speaker 2: was so naive to the genius of this man. He
- 16:46Speaker 2: is a special human being.
- 16:48Speaker 1: He's got talent. Man reminds me a lot of my
- 16:51Speaker 1: best friend Zach Raf.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Oh so you're saying I'm like a Jewish Donald Glover.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Sure, sure, if you want to, If you want to
- 17:00Speaker 1: put it into If you want to turn it into
- 17:02Speaker 1: a religious thing, you are a Jewish.
- 17:06Speaker 2: The screenplay I've written is ready for your for your reading.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Are you gonna? Are you gonna read this one?
- 17:11Speaker 1: Are any black people in it?
- 17:13Speaker 2: There are some black excuse me, black African Americans.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You could say black.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I just think it's so No. I just think it's
- 17:21Speaker 2: funny how some people white people are like nervous. They
- 17:23Speaker 2: they're not sure if they can say black or African American.
- 17:26Speaker 2: So they start they end up they going like this.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You know there are some black African Americans, it becomes
- 17:32Speaker 2: black African Americans. I think white people are a little
- 17:37Speaker 2: confused at first. All allowed, I say black or African American.
- 17:40Speaker 2: What's the verdict? I always say I say black. I
- 17:43Speaker 2: say black. But I feel like if I'm being formal,
- 17:46Speaker 2: like if I was giving a speech, I would say
- 17:47Speaker 2: African American. But if I'm talking to my two black
- 17:50Speaker 2: friends here, I would say black. Is that Okay?
- 17:53Speaker 1: I have no problem with it. Uh, let's get to
- 17:55Speaker 1: the let's get into the breakdown.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah, let's hear your summary.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Okay, so ready this episode. You don't need the you
- 18:03Speaker 1: don't need to stop watching anymore because I'm not keep
- 18:05Speaker 1: it with it because I'm much keep it at thirty.
- 18:06Speaker 1: We know we're gonna try and keep it in thirty.
- 18:07Speaker 2: No. Part of my joy, My joy is timing things.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But that's yeah, but you like, my sister was a
- 18:13Speaker 2: competitive swimmer when she was a child, and my dad
- 18:16Speaker 2: got so into it. He was the guy with the
- 18:18Speaker 2: parent who would have the stop watching around his neck.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Would he be like, well, show shit, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 1: can't that was slower than normal.
- 18:26Speaker 2: No, he would scream at her so much that she said,
- 18:28Speaker 2: fuck swimming.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I hate this.
- 18:29Speaker 2: But but that's the story for it. That's a ran
- 18:34Speaker 2: for a different episode. But no, I enjoy timing you.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Okay, okay, you ready get it going this episode, Turk
- 18:41Speaker 1: is ready to for the next step in his relationship
- 18:44Speaker 1: with Carla. Elliot's done changing into her scrubs and a
- 18:47Speaker 1: co ed locker room. Jab and Cox both realize they
- 18:50Speaker 1: make a good team. That's not what this episode's about.
- 18:53Speaker 1: And the hospital people come and go. Sometimes it's because
- 18:56Speaker 1: it's where people work, but often it's because they're sick
- 19:00Speaker 1: and they die. We try so hard to control our destiny.
- 19:04Speaker 1: We try so hard to tip the scale but things
- 19:07Speaker 1: don't work that way. Somehow, life and death always find
- 19:10Speaker 1: a way to balance itself out.
- 19:14Speaker 2: That's beautiful. I'm not even gonna tell you were four
- 19:16Speaker 2: seconds over that was so good. No, it really is
- 19:20Speaker 2: a beautiful episode because it's got some funny ass shit
- 19:22Speaker 2: in it and it's got some memorable stuff. I like
- 19:24Speaker 2: it when these episodes, it's funny. Sometimes they have like
- 19:27Speaker 2: three memorable moments that you'd like, Sarah and the burlesque
- 19:30Speaker 2: outfit that you didn't even know we're all in the
- 19:32Speaker 2: same episode, but I remember doing that burlesque things Sarah
- 19:38Speaker 2: do too.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yes, and it's true.
- 19:42Speaker 2: On Scrubs wiki it. It actually has a true bit
- 19:44Speaker 2: of trivia that Bill bet her to go in her
- 19:46Speaker 2: burlesque outfit to the Starbucks and get everyone coffee. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 2: we thought it would be a big deal, but like
- 19:55Speaker 2: in Hollywood, no one even like looked twice right, that
- 19:59Speaker 2: was a moment I always remember. And Rob. Rob looks
- 20:01Speaker 2: so funny. You know, some people don't look normal. Smoke
- 20:05Speaker 2: and a stogytog just fits perfectly in Rob's mouth, doesn't it.
- 20:09Speaker 1: He looks like the guy.
- 20:11Speaker 2: He looks like the guy who he's like, Wait, the
- 20:13Speaker 2: way he's holding it and like sitting in the front
- 20:14Speaker 2: row of the strip club. I know he's wearing Someone
- 20:18Speaker 2: pointed out he's wearing black boxers, not has been an
- 20:20Speaker 2: infamous banana hammock.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I noticed that too. I don't think banana hammock
- 20:24Speaker 1: was introduced you. Oh, no, it was introduced because.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He goes, Yeah, it was. It's hard to believe that.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I guess that there must this must come from a
- 20:32Speaker 2: true story of there being a co ed locker room
- 20:35Speaker 2: in the hospitals. But it's I am.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I am with Ted on this. I don't mind a
- 20:43Speaker 1: co ed locker room.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't you think in a coed locker room,
- 20:48Speaker 2: I imagine I've never think I've been in one, but
- 20:51Speaker 2: people would be mostly covered up in the robe or something,
- 20:54Speaker 2: and then they go and they do their changing. It
- 20:56Speaker 2: wouldn't be like in this episode, there's this naked woman
- 20:58Speaker 2: who's just walking around, of course, or she looks like
- 21:00Speaker 2: a model, and everyone's just and everyone's gawking at her.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And there's nothing but there's nothing but boys in the
- 21:06Speaker 1: locker room. In the locker room also, so it's like
- 21:08Speaker 1: Sarah and this naked lady and then a bunch of dudes.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And that's not in the locker room because I never
- 21:14Speaker 2: I never played sports, so I always thought it was weird.
- 21:16Speaker 2: You know, in movies, I see guys in the locker
- 21:18Speaker 2: room all walking around naked, and everyone just you know,
- 21:22Speaker 2: smacking towels and asses and cocks are out. I always, always,
- 21:29Speaker 2: I always feel weird whenever I'm in the locker room,
- 21:32Speaker 2: like it.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Is dirty cocks are Uh. I didn't say. I didn't
- 21:37Speaker 1: say it was like a girl. I wasn't like, I
- 21:39Speaker 1: wasn't like asses and cocks.
- 21:42Speaker 2: No, But I mean whenever I'm in like I am
- 21:44Speaker 2: in a cod, I'm not a cod. Whenever I am
- 21:46Speaker 2: in a locker room, and like I occasionally I go
- 21:48Speaker 2: to was hotel, spa or something, and it's always like
- 21:51Speaker 2: old man ass at the urinal and like the guy,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and I just feel very uncomfortable with it. And as
- 21:58Speaker 2: a jock, I wondered if you were more com well
- 22:00Speaker 2: with just cocks being woven around everywhere.
- 22:03Speaker 1: This is so here's here's my whole thing on it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Because in the movies, we non jocks, we see these movies,
- 22:09Speaker 2: it looks like everybody's fine with cocks flying around.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I worry that somebody recognizes me and it's full of
- 22:19Speaker 1: judgment and I can't stand that shit.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Okay, but I'm talking about before you were famous.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Did you did you group shower?
- 22:26Speaker 2: No?
- 22:27Speaker 1: I would shower in my When we would go to
- 22:29Speaker 1: the pool in my neighborhood, I would shower in my
- 22:31Speaker 1: swim trunks.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I did the same thing.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, granted, if there weren't enough showers
- 22:37Speaker 1: for all of us to get in, we would share showers,
- 22:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean, A bunch of dudes sharing showers.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And I remember somebody saying, what are you guys gay,
- 22:45Speaker 1: and me being like, wait a second, why why am
- 22:47Speaker 1: I gay? Because I'm sharing a shower with this guy.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's freaking It's there's no showers available, and I want
- 22:54Speaker 1: to go home.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I want to It's interesting to the young sausage. It's
- 22:57Speaker 2: interesting that the the young male is so terrified of
- 23:01Speaker 2: being gay. I mean, I'm sure I'm a hope, I
- 23:03Speaker 2: hope that this is decreasing in the psyche of young men.
- 23:07Speaker 2: But I remember I was so worried. I once held
- 23:10Speaker 2: my hand like this with like with a This is
- 23:12Speaker 2: a true story. I just thought it the other day.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I was a little boy, and my hand was kind
- 23:16Speaker 2: of like dangling like this, like a limpristed thing.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And I looked at it as though I was.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Being attacked, and I ran to my mom. I swear
- 23:23Speaker 2: to God, this is so. I was a little boy,
- 23:25Speaker 2: so forgive me. But it was humiliating, and it made
- 23:28Speaker 2: me think about it. I went, mom, I did this
- 23:30Speaker 2: with my wrist. Does that mean I'm gay? And it
- 23:33Speaker 2: was so ingrained in us. Now granted we I was
- 23:36Speaker 2: born in seventy five years, born in seventy seven, and
- 23:38Speaker 2: our childhood was so ingrained that like, that's fucking horrible.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It's like, mom, Mom, look at my wrist. Did I
- 23:46Speaker 1: catch it right? Right? Look at my wrist? Or putting
- 23:49Speaker 1: your hands on your waist the opposite waist, so it's
- 23:53Speaker 1: standing like Forrest Gump. And now you know what I mean.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Or I remember once in middle school or something holding
- 23:58Speaker 2: my books like around up to my chest like this,
- 24:02Speaker 2: and somebody like, what are you fucking gay? And so anyway,
- 24:05Speaker 2: just I think of all that stuff, you know, is
- 24:08Speaker 2: as society becomes a little more comfortable talking about sexuality
- 24:11Speaker 2: and and and all of the wonderful things that are
- 24:14Speaker 2: coming to the to the surface. Yes, I'm now thinking
- 24:17Speaker 2: of our childhood and and and and how how scary
- 24:21Speaker 2: it was that I was fucking running to my mom
- 24:23Speaker 2: and pointing at my wrists, like did I do I
- 24:25Speaker 2: have it?
- 24:26Speaker 3: Hyper masculinity sounds exhausting?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh my god, what terrified?
- 24:32Speaker 3: Being afraid of how you like? And I mean we
- 24:35Speaker 3: thing's across a lot of different like smaller groups of people.
- 24:40Speaker 3: If you break us down that like, if you hold
- 24:43Speaker 3: yourself in a certain way, suddenly you're perceived as a
- 24:45Speaker 3: threat or as wrong or you know, as being normal.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, it's being black in America. I'm sorry, I
- 24:54Speaker 1: just know you're good.
- 24:55Speaker 3: It just it just sounds it just sounds really exhausting
- 24:58Speaker 3: to costly have to worry about you're holding yourself is
- 25:01Speaker 3: going to make you a target. And then of course,
- 25:03Speaker 3: you know, for people who actually were a game, we're like,
- 25:04Speaker 3: oh yes, I am gay. Crap, I have all this
- 25:08Speaker 3: whole world looking at me and attacking me. And uh,
- 25:11Speaker 3: it's and like I grew up, you know, in rural Illinois,
- 25:15Speaker 3: and I knew I was queer pretty early, and so
- 25:18Speaker 3: we had like some of these aspects. But I think
- 25:21Speaker 3: it's it's easier for what's easier for me to get
- 25:24Speaker 3: vibe in. Some of my more uh outwardly expressive friends
- 25:28Speaker 3: put it that way. It's I just I can't even imagine.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I wanted to ask you guys too. You guys were
- 25:33Speaker 3: theater kids, and I feel like theater kids have such
- 25:35Speaker 3: a reputation for constantly being partially nude or like in
- 25:39Speaker 3: a state of undressed around each other or at least
- 25:42Speaker 3: you know, as I was coming up in theater, and
- 25:44Speaker 3: was that not the same for you guys? Was it
- 25:46Speaker 3: not that way?
- 25:48Speaker 1: Not just for me being just in theater alone? Was
- 25:51Speaker 1: was was? Uh? You know, you get you hear that,
- 25:55Speaker 1: you hear what people say. You know what I mean,
- 25:57Speaker 1: when you're an actor and you're young and and you're
- 26:00Speaker 1: doing theater and stuff like that, you know what, you
- 26:03Speaker 1: know how people No.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But she's saying, like where their instances were because we
- 26:07Speaker 2: were changing in backstage and stuff. Where was their nudity there?
- 26:10Speaker 2: That wasn't really a case for me.
- 26:11Speaker 1: That wasn't a case for me.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Well, what the thing was that I loved about it
- 26:15Speaker 2: was affection. For some reason, there was permission when I
- 26:19Speaker 2: went to theater. Cam I'll never forget it like there
- 26:22Speaker 2: was no taboo in being affection with each other men,
- 26:25Speaker 2: hug men. And it was the opposite of public high school,
- 26:28Speaker 2: which was so rough, And this was an environment of
- 26:32Speaker 2: support and love and hugging and cuddling. And I just
- 26:37Speaker 2: never wanted to go back. I would I would fucking
- 26:39Speaker 2: sob when I had to come back to public school.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Here's here's where like utopia.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Here's where it gets scary though. So I went to
- 26:46Speaker 1: a private school that was for just you know, people
- 26:51Speaker 1: in the entertainment industry, and even at a school where
- 26:55Speaker 1: it's just at the when I was there, at least,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I can't say it is like that now, but when
- 26:58Speaker 1: I was there, at least, people were kind of outcasted
- 27:03Speaker 1: for being gay, you know what I mean, Like not
- 27:05Speaker 1: thrown out of the school or anything like that, but
- 27:08Speaker 1: you know, all the straight dudes seem to be afraid
- 27:12Speaker 1: of the gay guy, you know what I mean. Like
- 27:14Speaker 1: really performing art school, performing art school in Manhattan.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I'm really surprised because that feels like that's where those kids,
- 27:22Speaker 2: if they could get in, would go.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Right. This is the nineties, this is the eighties and
- 27:27Speaker 1: the ninety early nineties, And I just remember thinking wow,
- 27:31Speaker 1: this is this is crazy, man, this is you know,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I remember, I remember, I remember being at that school
- 27:39Speaker 1: and being one of the only black kids at the
- 27:41Speaker 1: school as well. You know what I mean, there was
- 27:42Speaker 1: only like five or six of us in this private school.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And I only bring all this stuff up because of
- 27:48Speaker 1: the beginning of the episode. You know what I mean.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Go on, Turk shows jd The Ring, Yeah, and he goes, oh.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Wow, this was a fucking epic prologue for this joke.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's not a joke, but it's but it's I mean,
- 28:02Speaker 1: the joke, it's a joke. But yeah, well it is.
- 28:04Speaker 2: A joke, it has it has social commentary in it,
- 28:07Speaker 2: but it isn't meant to be a joke, right.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Turk shows Jadie the Ring and Jady goes, oh, it's beautiful,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but my parents would kill me if I married someone black,
- 28:17Speaker 1: a black guy. Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I went to well when I was When I
- 28:20Speaker 2: was fourteen years old, I had had a friend moved
- 28:23Speaker 2: to Argentina, Buenos Aires suburb of Buenos Aires, and my
- 28:27Speaker 2: parents are arranged with two other groups of parents to
- 28:31Speaker 2: let us go down and visit him because he missed
- 28:33Speaker 2: us and he was our best friend. One of my
- 28:35Speaker 2: friends was black, and we went down to this suburb
- 28:38Speaker 2: in Buenos Aires and this was a neighborhood where they
- 28:42Speaker 2: had never clearly they had never in real life seen
- 28:44Speaker 2: a black person. And he walked in. It was like
- 28:49Speaker 2: the record scratch and they were It wasn't that they
- 28:54Speaker 2: were I don't mean to imply that they were that
- 28:56Speaker 2: they were disrespectful to him, because they weren't. They were
- 28:59Speaker 2: just like, holy shit.
- 29:02Speaker 1: That dude is a black guy, right yeah.
- 29:04Speaker 2: And he was like, you know, and I remember we
- 29:06Speaker 2: went to a nightclub and they were like, dance, dude,
- 29:09Speaker 2: do some of the dancing.
- 29:12Speaker 1: He couldn't dance to say the no, no, no, I
- 29:14Speaker 1: say this story.
- 29:16Speaker 2: He was the worst fucking dancer you ever met. No,
- 29:20Speaker 2: you know, I always laughing this story. He felt like
- 29:22Speaker 2: this onus to be like a good dancer, but he sucked.
- 29:25Speaker 2: And so we started doing these stupid moves like faving
- 29:28Speaker 2: his arms, and you could see like everyone in the
- 29:29Speaker 2: club being like, oh, that must be the new move,
- 29:31Speaker 2: and they really started doing this.
- 29:33Speaker 1: It's like Ronald Miller and Can't Buy Me Love Man,
- 29:36Speaker 1: only he's doing the Africanani the ristraal. But if the
- 29:38Speaker 1: Romster's doing it, it must be hip.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, bro.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Anyway, my point is, my point is, uh, I don't
- 29:47Speaker 1: know that I have a point, but this episode, really your.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Point is is very valid. Donald that the first sentence
- 29:53Speaker 2: making a joke about marrying a black guy, uh, touched
- 29:57Speaker 2: something deep inside you that you dealt with when you
- 30:00Speaker 2: married the love of your life. And we still live
- 30:02Speaker 2: in a society where that's the thing, and we hope
- 30:03Speaker 2: one day it's not.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Absolutely let's take a break.
- 30:07Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I'm still in the cold opening. But uh, when Turk
- 30:20Speaker 1: shows him the ring and he's like and JD's like,
- 30:24Speaker 1: it's beautiful, but like my parents would lose their shit
- 30:26Speaker 1: if I married a black man. And then they're like, well,
- 30:29Speaker 1: this is what I was thinking. I was got to
- 30:30Speaker 1: make her a dinner, and you know, i'd put it
- 30:32Speaker 1: in the wine in her champagne glass and you said,
- 30:35Speaker 1: that's shamp JD goes as well, that's shamp champlain champlain.
- 30:39Speaker 1: He's like, well, what would you want me to do?
- 30:41Speaker 1: He's like, well, this is what you do. You get
- 30:42Speaker 1: some candles, put it out.
- 30:45Speaker 2: You're starting to sound like Damon Wayne's in Beverly Hills,
- 30:47Speaker 2: coun take these bananas.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Take these bananas, and then you get some roses and
- 30:51Speaker 1: you put the roses out and and and then Turk's like, yeah,
- 30:55Speaker 1: because the roses make everything smell great and stuff.
- 30:58Speaker 2: And then springtime medicines.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And then Carla walks in and he goes, what are
- 31:02Speaker 1: you guys talking about? And we go, no, nothing, nothing,
- 31:04Speaker 1: just guy stuff. And no, we go bitches and hose. Yeah, no,
- 31:07Speaker 1: we go just guy stuff. And JD goes, yeah, bitches
- 31:10Speaker 1: and hose and stuff.
- 31:12Speaker 2: By the way, the same joke about masculinity, it's actually
- 31:15Speaker 2: exactly the same thing we're talking about that j D
- 31:17Speaker 2: and Turk are talking about, like, no, it'd be like
- 31:19Speaker 2: a meadow in springtime. And then Carla comes in and
- 31:22Speaker 2: we're embarrassed. So then we obviously overcorrect because we don't
- 31:26Speaker 2: know how to manage our masculinity, our fake masculinity, and
- 31:30Speaker 2: say bitches and hose, right, But I mean, I mean,
- 31:33Speaker 2: it's the same thing we're talking about.
- 31:35Speaker 1: That being said, I thought I did a pretty good
- 31:37Speaker 1: pratfall in this episode.
- 31:38Speaker 2: You did I wrote down? I want you to know
- 31:41Speaker 2: I wrote what did I write down?
- 31:42Speaker 7: Here?
- 31:42Speaker 2: I said, look at Donald with your dope ass pratfall
- 31:46Speaker 2: and you did that. You did that, didn't you?
- 31:47Speaker 1: I did that myself. That was me.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, I don't know why there was such a
- 31:51Speaker 2: rush for Turk to get to the garbage disposal. I mean,
- 31:55Speaker 2: no one had turned it on. I don't know why
- 31:56Speaker 2: you had to dive over the counter in a way
- 31:59Speaker 2: that might break your back, but you did.
- 32:02Speaker 1: But because she poured it down the sink. I don't
- 32:04Speaker 1: think they have a garbage disposal.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Do you know one garbage disposal?
- 32:09Speaker 1: It's only one sink and you can I don't know, dude,
- 32:12Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:13Speaker 2: There's there's some trivia bit Trevor Wickie knows do Does
- 32:17Speaker 2: JD and Turkey have a garbage disposal? No? I was kidding,
- 32:21Speaker 2: that's not on there. I kissed Sarah's booby when she's
- 32:25Speaker 2: when she's doing the burlesque thing. I'm just I wanted
- 32:28Speaker 2: to just, you know, circle it back around because we
- 32:30Speaker 2: did talk about her latching onto my nipple in the
- 32:32Speaker 2: previous podcast, and and I just wanted you to know
- 32:36Speaker 2: that I in this one. I returned. I did, I returned.
- 32:40Speaker 2: I didn't do ariola, but I got a little side,
- 32:42Speaker 2: little side boob kiss in there. You also made it
- 32:46Speaker 2: when you did your jump, you made a little bit
- 32:47Speaker 2: of a JD injury noise, you did.
- 32:50Speaker 1: A little maybe. Bill added that I don't know.
- 32:55Speaker 2: No, I think it's you. You were trying to jokingly
- 32:57Speaker 2: do a JD heard himself noise.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Was it that famous at that point? Had it gotten
- 33:01Speaker 1: to the point where it was pretty clear that every
- 33:04Speaker 1: time you fell, we were gonna make the I don't
- 33:07Speaker 1: know if.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I don't know if it was ever discussed like that.
- 33:10Speaker 2: How about Ralphie? I think you had fun hanging out
- 33:14Speaker 2: with little Ralphie.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Little Ralphie cracked me up. Uh, cute kid. First of all,
- 33:20Speaker 1: he's probably a man now.
- 33:21Speaker 2: No, it's funny, dude, this is twenty years ago. The
- 33:23Speaker 2: kid's probably thirty.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Right, he's probably a grown ass man now, and it's
- 33:28Speaker 1: known as ralph I wonder if he's still acting. That's
- 33:31Speaker 1: the great question, you know what I mean. Like, for
- 33:33Speaker 1: a long time, people are like, what is the kid
- 33:35Speaker 1: from modern family Ralphie from Scrubs?
- 33:37Speaker 2: No, it's not no really, Oh no, well that that
- 33:40Speaker 2: kid is not nearly as old as Ralphie would be.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Let's say he's eight, he's twenty eight ish.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Those kids are all grown on modern pay, but he
- 33:48Speaker 1: was all of them.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I know, I know. Oh I like it when you
- 33:52Speaker 2: go first of all, when you put your fingers in
- 33:54Speaker 2: the hot coffee.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That was funny, you go hot, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 33:58Speaker 1: was funny.
- 33:59Speaker 2: And then I like when you're like, push the dukie out, Ralphie.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Push the dukie out. Yeah yeah yeah.
- 34:04Speaker 2: The kid eats a diamond engagement ring. How does that
- 34:07Speaker 2: not cut up fuck up your intestinal digestive system.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I imagine your digestive system can handle something that's smooth out.
- 34:16Speaker 1: It's not like it was jagged.
- 34:20Speaker 7: Edges.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I just feel like it would be dangerous to swallow
- 34:24Speaker 2: a diamond in a child's fresh, brand new digestive system.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Didn't Isn't that what happened in Blood Diamond? Didn't he
- 34:34Speaker 1: swallow that big ass diamond? And Blood Diamond with Leonardo
- 34:38Speaker 1: DiCaprio my favorite actor.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I don't think I ever saw Blood Diamond? Should I
- 34:42Speaker 2: watch it?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Oh? It's a good one.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Oh you know what I was gonna do for you
- 34:45Speaker 2: because I'm going a little quarantine crazy, like you know,
- 34:49Speaker 2: you guys feel this when you gotta like, all right,
- 34:51Speaker 2: new Quarantine Chapter I gotta shake some shit up, right,
- 34:56Speaker 2: that's what the mustache is.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I got my xbox.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I'm about to try Red Dead Dawn. What's yeah? Because
- 35:04Speaker 2: hit Man, you know, I killed everybody, and I'm gonna
- 35:07Speaker 2: try Hitman again. But I think I might try just
- 35:10Speaker 2: being on the planes. I don't want to hurt anybody.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, you're gonna you're gonna hurt some people.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I'm just like people death killed.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna play hit Man two and Red Dead Redemption,
- 35:29Speaker 2: but one of my new you know, I'm just trying
- 35:32Speaker 2: some new chapter things. I was gonna watch something I've
- 35:37Speaker 2: never watched that you're very passionate that I watch, and
- 35:40Speaker 2: that is the Lord of the Rings series. I've never
- 35:43Speaker 2: watched all three of them, all the listeners, all three
- 35:53Speaker 2: of them look like they're having a heart attack. All
- 35:57Speaker 2: three of them look like Fred Sandford, And in some
- 35:59Speaker 2: ways I'm coming.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I have so many questions.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Okay, are you doing the extended director's cuts or.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Think you should look here's the thing, here's the thing.
- 36:10Speaker 1: What do you all recommend? How do I do about
- 36:13Speaker 1: like this?
- 36:13Speaker 2: It's gonna be like not ten hours of my life, right?
- 36:15Speaker 1: All right, guys, this is what I've learned about that
- 36:19Speaker 1: it's not necessarily the action that he gets stoked about.
- 36:22Speaker 1: If the story doesn't move he gets very very bored.
- 36:27Speaker 1: So it's not it's not like he needs a bunch
- 36:28Speaker 1: of action and fighting and stuff like that. He just
- 36:31Speaker 1: wants the fucking story to move along. Don't fucking take two.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Here's what I have no interest in, and this is
- 36:36Speaker 2: controversial for most of the country. I like character development,
- 36:40Speaker 2: I like dialogue. I like set pieces and beautiful sets
- 36:45Speaker 2: and cool cinematography. I get very bored when two supernatural
- 36:51Speaker 2: beings are fighting.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Okay, the.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Ultimate, the ultimate example for this condition I have is Transformers.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Let me just articulate Myransformer movie.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Let me just articulate my point.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Except for transform with the movie the cartoon.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Watch two our hunks of metal fighting and like crashing
- 37:17Speaker 2: taxi cabs, I couldn't give zero fus.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, those come on, those movies sucked.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Come on, all right, But I love story, and I
- 37:24Speaker 2: know Lord of the Rings has great actors, and I
- 37:26Speaker 2: love cinematography. I know it's got that.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I'm going to go for the extended cut. Yeah, you
- 37:31Speaker 3: should definitely go for the extended cut then, because there
- 37:34Speaker 3: are certain like Bormere story kind of gets jumped over
- 37:38Speaker 3: in part two.
- 37:38Speaker 5: If you don't have the extension.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Well, you're gritting your teeth. You're so excited.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, you don't even know.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Again, I watch like every year for many years. I
- 37:48Speaker 3: love Lord of the Rings. If it's on tn T,
- 37:50Speaker 3: everything stops. You're watching Lord of the Rings. Don't talk
- 37:52Speaker 3: to me every day that we buy the new one.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Should I try some jazz let us with it?
- 37:59Speaker 3: Ah, it couldn't hurt, because then you're smoking with Gandalf
- 38:02Speaker 3: and that's always fine.
- 38:02Speaker 7: Right.
- 38:04Speaker 1: They smoked weed in the first movie.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Yes, okay, good. Whenever they have jazz lettuce, I'm gonna
- 38:09Speaker 2: have some.
- 38:09Speaker 1: They have some good. It's the finest, the finest weed
- 38:13Speaker 1: in the shire.
- 38:18Speaker 2: All right, let's get back to this Ralphie. So Ralphie,
- 38:21Speaker 2: wasn't there a thing?
- 38:22Speaker 4: Donald?
- 38:23Speaker 2: I remember in the blooper reel around nine to eleven,
- 38:25Speaker 2: when Ralphie's dag drags him out that the kid nailed
- 38:29Speaker 2: the door.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I feel like I remember that. If you're if you're
- 38:35Speaker 2: so inclined, you could go look at the season two
- 38:37Speaker 2: Blooper reel. But I think that that moment when Ralphie's
- 38:40Speaker 2: dad is aggressively pulling him out of the lobby, I
- 38:43Speaker 2: think the kid lost his bounds and nailed the door.
- 38:46Speaker 2: He was fine, not laughing at a hurt child, but
- 38:49Speaker 2: it did look like it hurt. We probably could have
- 38:51Speaker 2: won America's Funniest Home Videos.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Oh man, I would have loved that. One hundred thousand
- 38:54Speaker 1: dollars in my pocket.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Nine fifty five, when Cox goes G D COLN O
- 38:59Speaker 2: B g y N prep the nick you and then
- 39:01Speaker 2: it cuts to me and I just keep writing in
- 39:03Speaker 2: a chart. I'm like, what the fuck am I doing?
- 39:06Speaker 2: Like this woman's about to fucking die?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Here's what Here's what I don't understand now.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Clearly what happened was that the dad had another line
- 39:14Speaker 2: to me so I couldn't leave. But I really got
- 39:16Speaker 2: annoyed that Cox is like, call prep the nick you
- 39:19Speaker 2: call new jib guy N and then you cut to
- 39:22Speaker 2: me and I just continue to proceed to write in
- 39:24Speaker 2: a chart, Like what am I writing in a chart?
- 39:27Speaker 1: I have the only problem I had with it is
- 39:29Speaker 1: why are they at this hospital?
- 39:32Speaker 3: Uh?
- 39:32Speaker 1: And Cox is their doctor. Shouldn't she have had a
- 39:38Speaker 1: I think they.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Always go to no that they've come into a hospital,
- 39:43Speaker 2: local hospital with an emergency. We're having a baby problem.
- 39:47Speaker 1: But you would still call your you would still call your.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I don't know, I mean some of that, some of
- 39:53Speaker 2: that's some of that's a little lax here, dude. Remember
- 39:56Speaker 2: in early episodes, Todd was gonna do a fucking woman's
- 39:58Speaker 2: breast augmentation.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Right right right, like a classic surgeon.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Some of that were some of the some of the
- 40:03Speaker 2: rules of that are a little bit thrown out, even
- 40:05Speaker 2: though the AMA says were the most accurate.
- 40:09Speaker 8: I did.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I did like the fact that Cox and JD were
- 40:12Speaker 1: looking at themselves in this married couple that was about
- 40:15Speaker 1: to have a baby. I thought that was very funny.
- 40:17Speaker 1: The lady who was about to deliver his Cox.
- 40:20Speaker 2: And yeah, that kid was That kid was clearly cast
- 40:23Speaker 2: to be JD ESQ Right, I agree? Now, Yes, what's
- 40:30Speaker 2: the matter dude?
- 40:31Speaker 1: My back?
- 40:32Speaker 2: I've never seen this? Maybe, why didn't you get a
- 40:35Speaker 2: Why didn't you get a nice chair for yourself?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Because I have to bring it all the way up
- 40:39Speaker 1: to the closet.
- 40:40Speaker 2: This is forty six, guys.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I wish you could see him forty six.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I wish you could see him. He's lying.
- 40:47Speaker 1: You look like I look like job at a hut.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I know, I know, yes, you look like hut.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you need you need like, uh, you need like
- 41:05Speaker 2: you need a little chained uh land.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Next I need Selatious Crumb, and then I need a
- 41:11Speaker 1: chained Uh.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Is that the guy with the snake thing around his neck?
- 41:15Speaker 1: No, that's that's a bit for Tuna.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I need somebody, my god, you know everybody's names.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I need. That's the parrot. That's Silatious Crumb, Silatious Crumb.
- 41:30Speaker 2: No, but I think I had the action figure of
- 41:32Speaker 2: the snake neck guy for Tuna. Yeah.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Great character is that it's Jaba no bog Is that?
- 41:43Speaker 2: Is that a job as like a side side piece henchman.
- 41:47Speaker 1: No, that's his freaking uh that's his uh interpreter.
- 41:51Speaker 7: No.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Three P is the interpreter. He's the not the pet.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Silatious Crumb is the pet. He's more like, uh, you know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: he's the dude the job as assistant. That's who he is.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That's who Slicius Crumb would be.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Okay, I mean he's he's like his what's the name
- 42:08Speaker 2: of Puffy's guy with the umbrella.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Right like Farnsworth Bentley by whatever.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Hab it of farns with Bentley, is he doing that
- 42:16Speaker 2: for other people?
- 42:17Speaker 7: Now? No?
- 42:18Speaker 1: Man, you know just the same Listen, man, people come
- 42:21Speaker 1: to Hollywood or people become famous. Fawnsworth Bentley is him
- 42:25Speaker 1: and Casey Cobb are the two most famous assistants in
- 42:29Speaker 1: the history of being assistant. And Farnsworth went on to
- 42:33Speaker 1: I mean he stole the spotlight from Puff when he
- 42:35Speaker 1: was around. You know what I mean?
- 42:36Speaker 2: Like, what was special about Farnsworth Bentley? I just remember
- 42:40Speaker 2: the end he had to hold Puffy's umbrella.
- 42:41Speaker 1: So much charisma. That man has so much charisma.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Are you friends with him?
- 42:46Speaker 1: I've run into him a couple of times.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I wonder what he does though for a living these days.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I don't know he's a musician.
- 42:54Speaker 3: I think he's doing like studio stuff behind the scenes.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Well we should place some of Farnsworth Bentley's on the podcast. Yeah.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I was thinking, Joelle, by the way, speaking about the
- 43:04Speaker 2: music conundrum that we're facing, I was thinking two things. One,
- 43:10Speaker 2: I could send you a list of like twenty songs,
- 43:14Speaker 2: and then you could go through iHeart to go through
- 43:16Speaker 2: the people and say, hey, do the guys have the
- 43:18Speaker 2: permission to play these songs and I won't pick like
- 43:22Speaker 2: you know the Stones or like Drake, I'll pick like
- 43:25Speaker 2: you know smaller acts. Yeah, speaking of music, by the way,
- 43:29Speaker 2: there's been a lot of demand for my fire workout playlist,
- 43:32Speaker 2: which I have now published on Spotify.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Donald, Yeah nice.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Now, I've never made a playlist public on Spotify, but
- 43:40Speaker 2: today during my downtime, I figured out how to do it.
- 43:43Speaker 2: And if you're listening since there's been clamoring, literal clamoring
- 43:48Speaker 2: from my fire Workout playlist, now, don't listen to this
- 43:51Speaker 2: if you're looking for what Donald likes to and you
- 43:53Speaker 2: want to hear Wu Tang and Drake and ever. Okay,
- 43:59Speaker 2: this is if you want to hear some girl Popever.
- 44:04Speaker 2: It's under on Spotify. It's under Zach Braff's workout playlist,
- 44:10Speaker 2: and I'm very excited to see how many listens and
- 44:12Speaker 2: plays it gets.
- 44:14Speaker 1: At Zach Brash's playlist on Zach Blash, Zach Bras's playlist.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Workout, Zach Brat's Workout playlist.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Okay, is it like uh, Michelle Branches, she on her.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Did she make Ity Tobby? You think I'm gonna you
- 44:27Speaker 2: think I'm going to do a workout playlist without everywhere?
- 44:29Speaker 1: Come on, bro, who's the other one that had the
- 44:33Speaker 1: the the dope song back in the day that was
- 44:38Speaker 1: in White White White Girls? Is at the making my
- 44:42Speaker 1: way down to if I Could Fall into the sky?
- 44:51Speaker 1: Do you think listen pass me by? Because you know
- 44:57Speaker 1: I walk a thousand my.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Just see, that's not a great workout song. So I
- 45:04Speaker 2: didn't do that. Anyway, If you guys like this, I'll
- 45:11Speaker 2: keep making them for those of you who like like me,
- 45:14Speaker 2: like working out to to pop.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Do you think Michelle Branch got mad when Vanessa Carlton
- 45:20Speaker 1: came out and was like, Yo, you're trying to take
- 45:22Speaker 1: my lane. You're trying to take my lane. I had
- 45:26Speaker 1: this ship first girl.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Jewel.
- 45:30Speaker 2: By the way, Alicia Silverstone texted me and Donald because
- 45:33Speaker 2: she listened to the podcast where we.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Talk called it so people, this could happen, This might happen.
- 45:38Speaker 2: It's a slow play. You know, when you're courting someone
- 45:40Speaker 2: and it's a slow play, you can't be too come
- 45:43Speaker 2: on so strong.
- 45:44Speaker 1: She called us very silly. She said I was wrong.
- 45:47Speaker 1: She was sixteen when she did.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Yes, she said, uh video She said that she was
- 45:51Speaker 2: sixteen when she did her first Aerosmith video. By the way,
- 45:54Speaker 2: So she also said.
- 45:55Speaker 1: She doesn't recall you being obsessed with her. She said,
- 45:59Speaker 1: you never mentioned once that's you're obsessed.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I think I've told her in working with her that
- 46:03Speaker 2: I had a huge crush on her. Okay, should we
- 46:06Speaker 2: bring in the fan?
- 46:06Speaker 7: Is the fan.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Break back? We'll be right back. Hi, I love man.
- 46:25Speaker 1: You got the beard like and you got breaking up
- 46:28Speaker 1: Ghostbusters outfit in the back of you.
- 46:30Speaker 8: Yeah, all right, my quarantine beard, and then I'm joining
- 46:34Speaker 8: up with the Massachusetts Ghostbusters to do charity when all
- 46:37Speaker 8: this quarantine stuff goes away.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Have you ever buy a.
- 46:44Speaker 7: I wish I could.
- 46:45Speaker 2: But wait a second, I have a question. So you
- 46:49Speaker 2: what do you do when you dress up in this
- 46:51Speaker 2: Ghostbuster's outfit? You do volunteering, you said.
- 46:53Speaker 7: Of some kind.
- 46:54Speaker 8: So personally I've done nothing yet other than take my
- 46:57Speaker 8: nephew trick or treating. But right before the quarantine happened,
- 47:00Speaker 8: I was going to join up with the Massachusetts Ghostbusters
- 47:03Speaker 8: and do like conventions and parades and different things to
- 47:07Speaker 8: raise money for charity. And then quarantine happened. But once
- 47:10Speaker 8: it's all over, I'm going to go back and join
- 47:12Speaker 8: up with them.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Gods, the earth for the most wonderful people. I gotta
- 47:18Speaker 2: tell you, I just don't understand.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Are you sure he'll want to go back and volunteer
- 47:23Speaker 1: for your community?
- 47:26Speaker 2: Why would he not want to volunteer for his community?
- 47:28Speaker 1: But he's got a baby on the way. No he doesn't.
- 47:31Speaker 7: Oh what hang on? What'd you decide?
- 47:36Speaker 2: Does have a baby?
- 47:37Speaker 1: Don't you have a baby on the way?
- 47:38Speaker 9: Oh?
- 47:39Speaker 2: I don't think he knows yet, Dald know he doesn't.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I wanted to tell him you did. You did fucking soon.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I was going to drag it out longer, you.
- 47:50Speaker 9: Know, I couldn'tat okay, So I have some questions.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Now, Rachel Rachel, Rachel wanted us to tell you that you're.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Having sure Rachel and the baby. Oh, they're kidding, guys.
- 48:10Speaker 1: They're so happy.
- 48:12Speaker 2: And Rachel Rachel has produced the pregnancy tests. Oh my god,
- 48:16Speaker 2: I'm so excited.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Did you know this?
- 48:19Speaker 7: So I knew about ten minutes ago that this was
- 48:22Speaker 7: happening this track, But that's.
- 48:26Speaker 1: I just don't you, guys.
- 48:28Speaker 7: I'm I'm so we're going on to talk with with
- 48:31Speaker 7: the doctors.
- 48:32Speaker 2: I'm so happy for you, and I don't want to
- 48:34Speaker 2: up stage. I want to talk about this. But Donald,
- 48:36Speaker 2: what the fuck? We were like one minute in and
- 48:38Speaker 2: you fucking didn't You couldn't drag it out a little
- 48:41Speaker 2: bit longer.
- 48:42Speaker 1: No, I couldn't.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I want we could have been like, oh, do you
- 48:44Speaker 2: want to have kids one day? You fucking dick by that.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I couldn't. I couldn't.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Don't curse in front of the baby. I'm sorry, I couldn't.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Wait. I'm very excited because I know they have questions,
- 48:57Speaker 1: but now he has even more questions. Yeah, I said
- 49:00Speaker 1: so much more.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Congratulations you were going to be a father and we
- 49:04Speaker 2: knew about it before you That's insane.
- 49:08Speaker 7: Now all my questions are changing.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get into him. What questions do you have?
- 49:14Speaker 8: Well, I think question number one? And sorry Zach, but
- 49:17Speaker 8: this is for Donald. You know from this podcast, I
- 49:20Speaker 8: heard you have like eighty five kids.
- 49:21Speaker 5: What do I do?
- 49:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he does. He's ninety seven children.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Not eighty five. Not eighty five. Come on, man, fifteen four.
- 49:31Speaker 1: The thing is shoot, well, you know.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Well, you a Donald, you always say that. Just the
- 49:37Speaker 2: first year, you got to be very supportive. There's the
- 49:39Speaker 2: woman has to run the show, right.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Well, there's not much you can do the first year.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I'm going to be one hundred percent honest. Right now.
- 49:46Speaker 1: You can't do much for her other than support, and
- 49:50Speaker 1: you need to be one hundred percent supportive. And you
- 49:53Speaker 1: know have make dinners back. Yeah, that's right, make dinners feet,
- 49:57Speaker 1: rubbing back, rubber feet.
- 49:59Speaker 3: You know.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Uh, I can say say you look beautiful darling all
- 50:04Speaker 2: the time. Yeah, and uh, you're a very cute couple
- 50:09Speaker 2: of it. That's going to be an adorable child.
- 50:11Speaker 7: Yeah, thanks, thank you. I'm still completely blown away.
- 50:15Speaker 5: No, I know, I know a little something. I know
- 50:18Speaker 5: nobody else can see it, but maybe you guys can
- 50:20Speaker 5: describe it.
- 50:20Speaker 9: I know Donald has been having a rough time with
- 50:22Speaker 9: his Instagram followers, so.
- 50:26Speaker 5: I made an account the other day.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Nice. Oh my god, I'm a fan. I love it.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's amazing.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Instagram.
- 50:42Speaker 2: It's a onesie you guys, and it says youngest Instagram follower.
- 50:47Speaker 1: If this doesn't give me followers, I don't know what will.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I hope it not.
- 50:52Speaker 9: By the way, these people like twelve billion at one point,
- 50:55Speaker 9: but I can give you the youngest one.
- 50:57Speaker 2: And I appreciate that that is adorable. So you guys
- 51:01Speaker 2: seem just from looking around your background that you're very
- 51:04Speaker 2: into Batman.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Maybe, uh, kind of.
- 51:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm definitely a Batman fan, but this is just
- 51:10Speaker 8: a weird corner of my office.
- 51:13Speaker 7: I'm all over Marvel, Ghostbusters whatever.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Marvel DC Ghostbusters star.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Who's your favorite? Who's your Oh no no, no, don't
- 51:22Speaker 2: go there, please, who is your who's your favorite Batman?
- 51:25Speaker 2: Who ever played him in a film?
- 51:28Speaker 7: Oh, that's a really good question for me.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Well, no one did ask.
- 51:32Speaker 7: Specific Are we talking specifically live action?
- 51:36Speaker 2: Yes, specifically live action and not Adam West, just films.
- 51:40Speaker 1: And because Conroy is dope, you're right about that? Is
- 51:43Speaker 1: that who you're gonna exactly?
- 51:44Speaker 7: Conroy is where I was going.
- 51:45Speaker 2: I would have gone with Adam West, but we're talking
- 51:47Speaker 2: about just feature films.
- 51:49Speaker 8: So I think I'm gonna have to do something that
- 51:52Speaker 8: everyone's going to disagree with. But Ben Affleck, mainly because
- 51:55Speaker 8: I really enjoyed how they they did the combat and
- 51:59Speaker 8: got some you know, comic accurate scenes like Dark Knight
- 52:02Speaker 8: return stuff. Yeah, you know, I say, I say, uh,
- 52:06Speaker 8: I say, Affleck is one of the better Batman's my
- 52:10Speaker 8: favorite Batman for me?
- 52:13Speaker 7: Yeah, Heaton's a good one.
- 52:15Speaker 1: And it's that I take that back. It's not that
- 52:19Speaker 1: he's a good Batman. He was the best Bruce Wayne out.
- 52:23Speaker 7: Of their Absolutely, I'll definitely give you that.
- 52:25Speaker 8: But I can't get past the fact that at the
- 52:26Speaker 8: beginning of those movies, the first one is a bunch
- 52:29Speaker 8: of random purse robbers on the top of skyscrapers.
- 52:32Speaker 7: For some reason.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Why why are they on the side?
- 52:36Speaker 8: Batman just shows up, lifts his cape, and slowly walks
- 52:38Speaker 8: forward until he gets shot.
- 52:40Speaker 7: It's weird, right, that's now.
- 52:41Speaker 2: You guys are why are you guys? You're both skipping
- 52:44Speaker 2: like the the artiste of our time, Chris Nolan.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Well, hey, Christian Battle was a good Batman, great Batman.
- 52:50Speaker 7: I argue that those are more like villain movies.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Yeah, because Batman is not the star of those movies.
- 52:56Speaker 1: It's who he fights in those movies. That's exactly. And
- 52:59Speaker 1: you know my favorite line, and this is what I
- 53:01Speaker 1: couldn't get past, Rachel, Rachel.
- 53:12Speaker 7: He has all that money and you can't buy a
- 53:13Speaker 7: voice changer.
- 53:14Speaker 1: What it's because the city?
- 53:20Speaker 2: Oh god, my favorite line from my favorite line, what's
- 53:26Speaker 2: your favorite line? My favorite line is what didn't make
- 53:29Speaker 2: the film? It was behind the scenes moment.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Do you want me to tear down your lights. That's
- 53:34Speaker 1: not Batman, that's Terminator. But it wasn't that was Terminator.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I was Christian Bale and Terminator. He's in one of
- 53:42Speaker 1: the Terminators. It plays John Connor and one of the terminators.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Talk about bail you. We are talking about two movies
- 53:50Speaker 1: with fucked up timelines. Wait timelines of these movies, wait
- 53:54Speaker 1: a second? Special man are like so fucked When Christian.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Bale screamed at the cinematographer that wasn't Batman, No.
- 54:01Speaker 1: It was a terminator. He was pissed off because he's
- 54:03Speaker 1: doing a scene with the Terminator at the time.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Right, and the DP kept changing his lights in his
- 54:10Speaker 2: eye line, and he screamed down the DP.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Was you over to your law you know? The DP
- 54:15Speaker 1: was like, dude, we're making a terminator.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Okay, where where do you live?
- 54:21Speaker 8: By the way, So I'm in Massachusetts Weston?
- 54:26Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 54:26Speaker 2: Oh no, okay, this is so exciting. I'm I are you?
- 54:29Speaker 2: Are you? Is your mind blown that you're having a child?
- 54:31Speaker 1: How how far along are we are?
- 54:33Speaker 7: We? I'm assuming not very.
- 54:37Speaker 5: I got a kid frothing from it's pretty early.
- 54:42Speaker 9: It's about five weeks actually, when I was going with
- 54:45Speaker 9: back and forth with Joel. She originally we were going
- 54:48Speaker 9: to do this a little earlier, and she was like,
- 54:50Speaker 9: can we postponer? And it's like, actually, I started freaking out.
- 54:53Speaker 9: I was going way too public, way too early.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought most people would wait like three months.
- 54:58Speaker 2: I mean, but maybe your friends don't listen to this,
- 55:00Speaker 2: so they won't know.
- 55:00Speaker 5: They won't know we have a few So there, I'm
- 55:03Speaker 5: gonna get something we have to talk to before.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Okay, I would definitely tell you your friends that listen
- 55:09Speaker 2: to the podcast, definitely.
- 55:10Speaker 7: Yeah. In fact, are you recording this? I hope you are.
- 55:15Speaker 1: If you're not, we'll get you a copy or we'll try.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Thank you awesome.
- 55:18Speaker 7: Uh yeah, So I mean, I am very excited.
- 55:20Speaker 8: It has been obviously a crazy, terrible year for everyone personally,
- 55:26Speaker 8: that has been a really rough year for me. Right
- 55:29Speaker 8: the day that the whole state shutdown and the country
- 55:33Speaker 8: pretty much shut down was the day my mom passed away,
- 55:35Speaker 8: So it's been kind of rough. But h but this
- 55:39Speaker 8: is a nice good news story for my family. So
- 55:42Speaker 8: I'm really excited. In fact, I made my wife cry
- 55:46Speaker 8: right before we got on here, because when she told
- 55:48Speaker 8: me we were getting on I looked at the episode
- 55:49Speaker 8: that just dropped today and I did the math, and
- 55:51Speaker 8: I was like, wait a minute.
- 55:52Speaker 7: Is this my philosophy?
- 55:53Speaker 8: Because that she just happened to be something I was
- 55:57Speaker 8: watching right before my mom passed. So the whole musical
- 56:01Speaker 8: number at the end has been stuck in my mind
- 56:03Speaker 8: for the last six months or four months, or however
- 56:05Speaker 8: long it's been.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I cried like a baby in this episode for
- 56:10Speaker 1: the first time ever. You know, I've this is one
- 56:12Speaker 1: episode I remembered. I do remember filming this episode and
- 56:16Speaker 1: I remembered, uh, I remembered. I remembered. I've watched this
- 56:21Speaker 1: episode a couple of times, but this was the first
- 56:23Speaker 1: time that I, you know, because of everything that we're
- 56:25Speaker 1: dealing with right now, I cried like a baby.
- 56:27Speaker 7: My god, it's so powerful.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I actually think Chris has been a long time
- 56:32Speaker 9: fan and he's brought me along for the ride, and
- 56:36Speaker 9: I I believe it was this episode that when I
- 56:39Speaker 9: first started watching, I had to stop for a little
- 56:42Speaker 9: bit because it just.
- 56:45Speaker 5: Gutted me.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Well.
- 56:49Speaker 2: I was thinking we should play Waiting for My Real
- 56:52Speaker 2: Life to Begin by Colin Hay To end this episode
- 56:54Speaker 2: of the podcast, is that idea. That would be awesome
- 56:59Speaker 2: because Colin Hay is a friend of us and a
- 57:01Speaker 2: friend of the show, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind
- 57:02Speaker 2: at all if we If we when when we do
- 57:05Speaker 2: wrap this one up, to go into it because it
- 57:06Speaker 2: I mean, if you haven't heard his rendition of the song,
- 57:09Speaker 2: you know, in this episode we've turned into as it's
- 57:12Speaker 2: beautifully arranged, but but we've turned into a bit of
- 57:16Speaker 2: a musical number. But it's it's a it's just a
- 57:18Speaker 2: song with Colin Hay sings alone on the guitar, and
- 57:20Speaker 2: it's a it's a really special song.
- 57:23Speaker 8: You guys turned to be into a Colin Hey fan.
- 57:25Speaker 8: After my overkill, I went to deep dive on his music.
- 57:30Speaker 2: You know what he ever it comes by the way
- 57:31Speaker 2: he when when the world opens back up and he tours,
- 57:33Speaker 2: I mean, you're gonna have a baby now damned a
- 57:35Speaker 2: hands full. But let's say somebody wants to babysit for
- 57:38Speaker 2: you guys, you gotta go see him live. He it's
- 57:40Speaker 2: he's always plays small venues and it's just usually just
- 57:43Speaker 2: him and a guitar and he he's hilarious, so he'll
- 57:47Speaker 2: do he'll he'll just be you know, like most these musicians,
- 57:49Speaker 2: if you go see them in like a small venue,
- 57:51Speaker 2: they they tell a little anecdote and then they're strumming
- 57:53Speaker 2: their guitar and then they go into the song. This
- 57:54Speaker 2: guy will do like stand up like hilarious jokes as
- 57:58Speaker 2: he's just sitting there strumming, and then he'll go into
- 58:00Speaker 2: a song and it's it's really great wherever you are
- 58:04Speaker 2: and you're listening to this if keep an eye out
- 58:06Speaker 2: for whenever Colin hay comes to town, because I promise
- 58:08Speaker 2: you it's a great show.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite Colin Hayes song?
- 58:11Speaker 2: Fector Yes, oh gosh, I have a couple, but I
- 58:20Speaker 2: just don't think I'll get over over you is probably
- 58:22Speaker 2: my favorite. I drink black coffee every morning, Come come up.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Play That's far Away.
- 58:28Speaker 2: Far Away. When I'm done, I feel like talking about
- 58:33Speaker 2: you use less to say. That's like the worst breakup song.
- 58:39Speaker 2: It's a great breakup song because you're like it says
- 58:42Speaker 2: so many things you want to say to the person,
- 58:44Speaker 2: like I miss you, but do you miss me? And
- 58:48Speaker 2: I like when he goes don't want you to think,
- 58:50Speaker 2: don't don't want you think? I don't get asked to
- 58:52Speaker 2: dinner because I'm here to say that I sometimes do.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Boomlet no do do do do do?
- 59:02Speaker 2: But if I live till I can no longer climb my.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Stairs, I just just don't think get over you. You
- 59:13Speaker 1: got we serenaded your new baby.
- 59:16Speaker 7: You know.
- 59:16Speaker 1: My favorite line of that song is don't want you
- 59:19Speaker 1: thinking I'm unhappy? What is closer to the truth? And
- 59:28Speaker 1: then he says, if I live till I was a
- 59:33Speaker 1: hundred and I just don't think get over you that one?
- 59:42Speaker 2: Or should we play that one or the one on
- 59:43Speaker 2: the episode when we hear that episode, let's play because
- 59:46Speaker 2: that one, that one's too melancholic. I mean, they're both melancholic,
- 59:50Speaker 2: but it's been a melancholic episode, so it's okay except
- 59:53Speaker 2: for birth and new beginnings and young You guys should
- 59:56Speaker 2: name the baby Semba. I think, okay, it's exciting instead
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: of the Lion King reference.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I know, but I was thinking more like Donald or.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: How funny would be this if this this, this couple
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: had a baby named the Dash and I'd love It'd
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: be the best day of my life.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: It's a Nigerian name.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Guys, guys, we've gone, We've gone very long. But but
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: do you have a question for us, Uh, I might
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: be beyond baby.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: We both kind of set up a question.
- 1:00:33Speaker 9: Do you want to go first or I guess my
- 1:00:36Speaker 9: question for you guys is, I mean, given the state
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: of the world right now and the fact that this
- 1:00:42Speaker 9: is based off of somebody who's working the front lines,
- 1:00:46Speaker 9: I don't know if this would be for you or the.
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: But how do you guys think your characters would have
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: dealt with COVID?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Oh, they would have jumped on it. I think j D,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Carla Elliott, doctor Cox, even Kelso. I think they would
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: have jumped on this. I think I think, uh, like
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: all of the you know, first responders out there right
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: now who are risking their lives and everything like that,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I think JD and the and the gang would have
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: done the exact same thing. I think this is something
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: that they would have said, you know, let's answer the call.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: The hospital is going to answer this call. Sacred Heart's
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: going to answer the call. Let's let's make it happen.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, don't forget first and foremost, amidst all
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: the comedy, it was clear they were all really good doctors.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: So I think that, uh, you know, that was important
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: to the writers, and that was important to JD, who
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: was the inspiration John Doris, who was the inspiration for
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: my character JD. So I think, uh yeah, I think
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: that they would. They would be all over it. You know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: there was an episode where we quarantined do you remember
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: with with with Tara Reid and she made quarantines. We
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: were all locked in the ICU.
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: Somehow I feel like the janitor would be convinced trying
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: to convince you you have COVID M.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Yes, the janitor would definitely be up to his usual
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: highjinks like he was in this episode. He had a
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: pretty small part in this one, although I got ink
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: all over his uh his shirt because he.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Brought pin didn't match. Though the pin didn't match, you
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: gave him with sharpie and then at the end he
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: has a regular ringpin. Really yeah, okay Scrubs wiki. He
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: probably knows it's.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Not on Scrubs Wiki. And we don't want to get
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: him all riled up over something so small. We can
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: only Trevor out don't don't say his name three times
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: where he had materialized like.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: Yeah, day and it's like he doesn't want to do it.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I'm not gonna ask him.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: Anything and now he's asking Trevor WICKI things.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: That's that's too we gotta stop. I get anxious.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I get anxious. I get anxious when we talk about
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: calling him.
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: I think that's the third time he's gonna show up.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: He's here, he's here, he's in my house, Trevor, get out,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: all right? Do you answer another question?
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: Yeah, this one's kind of a more silly question. But
- 1:02:59Speaker 8: I remember when you guys had the call turk line,
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: and I know it was a real number. Did you
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: guys ever mess with any fans that called them?
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: It rang NonStop? Here's the thing about what was so
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: crazy about the call turk phone? So Bill, I guess
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: you know, I think it started with having a pet peeve.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: If you ever noticed in movies it's always five five five,
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: you know that it has to be People don't want
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: to deal with a real number. It has to be
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: a fake number. And so Bill said, oh, let's just
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: make it. Let's just get the number. So it was
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: a cell phone, and it would sit in the production office,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: and the production office was the center of all of
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: our of our dressing rooms because you know, picture it,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: it's a hospital. All of our dressing rooms are hospital
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: rooms and what would be like the nurses station in
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: the middle of the ward was where a lot of
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: the production people would sit and the phone would just
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: be there and if it wasn't on silent, it would
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: ring NonStop, like NonStop, and sometimes when you're just sitting
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: around board, people would just pick it up. And we
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: ended up getting a map and with pins and we
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: would because people would call from all over the world
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: and by the time we were over it, I mean,
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: the thing was just covered. The map was covered in
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: pins from people from all over the world that would
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: just call. And so to answer your question, yeah, we
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: would just talk to people. We'd and then they'd be like, Zach,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: we need you on set. I I gotta go. Here's
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Donald And we just put Donald on like we just handled.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: We would just hand around. People were so interested that
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: he'd talk to a pa. Donald be like I had
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: to go to here talk to one about pas and
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: like and like they would just like to talk to
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: anybody related to the show, do you remember that?
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Which suck would be Sometimes you'd be like, hello, you
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: called Turk and they'd be like, Hey, is this real?
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: It's real? It's who's this, It's it's it's Donald Fazon.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I played Turk. Is JD around? No, no, no, Ja,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Zach's not around, he's on set right now. Okay, well
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: is doctor Cox around?
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Like that's bullshit?
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: We called.
- 1:04:57Speaker 9: No.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: It was fun and then and then sometimes we would
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: turn it off because was like, okay, it was just
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: ringing NonStop, and then it would sit there like lying dormant,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: and then someone would turn it on and then would
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: just start right up again because of because the show
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: is globally popular and at any time if he turns
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: it on, it would be ringing right crazy. I don't
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: know what happened to that number? Was you try it?
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: What was it?
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: One hundred C al Town c A L like California Turk?
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, are you guys trying now? I don't have
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: the phone, so you're not going to reach me, but
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: for all I know, one of our pas kept it.
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: I'm already talking.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we've already reached out.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: All right, we got to go because we've gone so long.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: But congratulations, you guys were very excited for you.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: I have a question for you guys before you leave. Absolutely,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Zach and I were talking about this. We know that
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: the episode we talk about the episodes and everything like that,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: And sometimes there's episodes of fake Doctors, real friends where
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: we talk about the episode just a little bit and
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: we digress. How do you guys feel about that? As
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: listeners to our show?
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: So I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: I've seen every episode probably ten fifteen times. I don't
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: need to have you guys tell me what's on the episode.
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: I've seen it.
- 1:06:09Speaker 8: I enjoy listening to you guys just tuck and when
- 1:06:12Speaker 8: you get to some of the behind the scenes stuff,
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: that's cool.
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: But it's also just fun listening to you guys talk.
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I love it, Like you guys have the kind
- 1:06:20Speaker 9: of friendship that I think we have with our friends,
- 1:06:23Speaker 9: and it's just like kind of hanging out with a
- 1:06:25Speaker 9: couple of friends and I'm like, yeah, I don't know
- 1:06:28Speaker 9: how we're talking about bubble gum.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: But I'm loving it, Like, yeah, well, I think that's
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: what we want to I think that's what we have
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: a few naysayers, and Donald and I are the kind
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: of people. First of all, I got to get off
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Twitter because it's one of this quarantine has made me
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: read this shit too much. And most people are nice,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: don't get me wrong. But that's not what we do.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: When you're in the public eye and people write shit
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: at you, you see the nice things and you think
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: you thinking, and then someone writes something and it just
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: sticks in your head. And then so some of the
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: couple of Donald and I both had people like you
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: might want to talk about the episode more, and I'm like, well,
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: this is really going three thousand times better than we
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: ever thought it was going to, and more people are
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: listening than we ever thought we're going to. Should we
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: start fucking up what's working? Because we want we want
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: to go through the episode and point out what we
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: thought was funny. But unlike the other people that do this,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: I think the office ladies who are killing it obviously,
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: but they go a little bit more meticulously through the episode.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: I don't think that would Interestyle the night so much.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: I think we probably get bored doing that.
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: Yeah, and if you're a real fan, you know what's happening,
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: so like, just enjoy the ride.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Should I start with these Marvel movies, the ones
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: I haven't seen? Or should I start with Lord of
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: the Rings? Because I was gonna start I've never seen
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: a Lord of the Rings film, and these guys were
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: saying I should start there.
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: Now, Okay, go Marvel. My dad's a huge lot of
- 1:07:42Speaker 8: the Rings fan, and they are great movies. I enjoyed them,
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: But go Marvel.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: But we're definitely a Marvel fan.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: This is what I'm knowing him, knowing Okay, this is
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: what I'm gonna say, guys. Knowing him, I would say,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: go Lord of the Rings because for him watching fights
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: like he in Game or uh I take that back
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Infinity War, he'll be bored because there's nothing but fighting
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: the whole movie. You know what I mean.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I get more invested when there's really good character development,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: and then I'm invested and I go like, like I mean,
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: just to take a movie like Rocky, It's like, I'm
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: so invested in these human beings I could watch them fight.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: But when it's like get back here, Decepticon, I don't
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: give a fuck.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Right. So look, here's the thing about the Marvel movies
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: that I'm sure you guys will agree with me on
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Daniel and Joell as well. There's so many of them
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: that they've developed these characters so well that by the
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: time you get to Infinity War and Endgame, you're so invested.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Unlike unlike Lord of the Rings where they develop the
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: characters right in front of you as you watch. Okay,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: go ahead, Dan say something, go ahead, nothing.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: I just think I just think there is there are
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: emotional moments in both movies, yes, but there is one
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: emotional moment. I would say three. But near the end
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: of Return of the King, there's one emotional moment that
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: strikes me harder than any Marvel movie ever. Will I'm
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: just gonna throw that out there.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Is that when she goes and don't spoiler.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Bro, don't spoiler.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: I can.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: I can say the line without its spoiling. Okay, I's
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: gonna be you're ruining this movie spoil anything.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: There's no way the way.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna say.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: You're gonna get to a point where some character says
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I am.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: The Lord of the Rings.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: It is I the Lord of the Rings, and everyone goes.
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: You get to appoint the movie where someone says you
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: bow to know man, and my explodes with I don't
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: need to watch it. I mean, the thing is, you're
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: you're not even gonna know when it's coming. You won't
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: even know, and then it'll happen and you're just gonna.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Know what I'm gonna know when you know what you
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: know when I'm gonna cry. I'm gonna cry when when
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: when someone goes.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I am the lord of the rings.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: We gotta go. This shows four hours off.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Like dropping, just watching the last episode.
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: Of Breaking Mad.
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: I know.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Listen, you guys, say what you want to say. That's
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: a good fucking episode.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: I can't even talk about it. All right, you guys,
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: you're so fun. I imagine if we lived in the
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: same city and the Apocalypse wasn't happening, we'd all be friends.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: But it's uh, you seem like very nice people. Congratulations
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: on gratulations on your young one. And be safe, stay
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: healthy and uh and and and give us a follow up.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Let you well know when send us a picture when
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: when you want to have the baby?
- 1:10:44Speaker 7: Okay, definitely have to put her in that one day.
- 1:10:47Speaker 7: And thank you for continually just changing my life with things.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: We got more on the way for you. Just you wait,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: we got more on the way for you.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Be well. Man. I can't wait for you to put
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: on your Ghostbuster's outfit.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Thank you, guys.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Thank you have a good one. Oh.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I like that. I told you, man, I told you
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: it's not.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: You fucked the whole thing up, though, dude, I really up. Really,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: you'd be the worst.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Game show host ever. I am a game show host.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Fuck you.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Well, that one probably sucks because you didn't tease anything.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Fuck you.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: You got to tease it out.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: You don't sure you want to do community service? You
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: got a kid on the way, you have to do
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: some edging. I thought it was great. I thought it
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: was a great I thought it was a great interview.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I thought they did great. I thought they were genuinely.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: No, it ended up being great.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: Just you.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: You got excited because you wanted to be the one
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: to tell them and so you had. Yeah, but I
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: would have played it out a little bit so one day.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Whatever. Anyway, let's get back to the episode.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, we've gone so we've done one thirty eight. But
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: let's just continue a little.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Okay, So let's there was one thing that I noticed
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: that happened in this episode that I thought was very funny,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and that was the candid camera gag.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Why is the guy under the bed? That's so funny.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's ridiculous, right, because you're not supposed to see
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: what a camera is.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's not getting any shot from under the bed.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: How about when you not when you when you go
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: and uh, well, first of all, I laughed out loud.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: When when when when Ted Lawyer goes, I feel like
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: I'd be more productive if my phone dialed out. Samy
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: had some great lines on this.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Or when he goes where did she get that idea?
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: And Sam goes, He goes, Ted, what are you trying
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: to do? He's just I'm trying to whistle. You don't
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: think that it was me? Or then when need him
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: to kiss at the end and he catches it.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it turns.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Around and Sam puts in his pocket to save it.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: When when when you bang on the cabs it catch
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Judy the lady thought you were trying to rob her.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: She goes, just take it. She puts the freaking purse
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: out the window. Just take it. That was funny.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: How about Judy telling you she needs to think and
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Carla telling you she needs to think. That's the most
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: fucked up answer you can ever get to a wedding robosal.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: I know, and yet I think by the time most
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: people propose, I mean, I would think by the time
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: I dropped the question, I'd be ninety nine point nine
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: ninety nine. Sure I'm gonna get a yes. I'm not
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: gonna I'm not leaving any wiggle room.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Well, I think a lot of people do think they're
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: gonna get the yes, and when they get the know,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: it's you know what sucks is that, you know, when
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: you get the know and they.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Keep the ring, that happens. No, listen, man, do you
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: know people keep an engagement ring and then don't get married.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: That's fucked though.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the same time.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: It happens all the time. You gotta give the ring back, ladies,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: we can't be engaged in the Moore. Okay, Well I'm
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: gonna need that ring, ladies, lay notice was a gift ladies,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: and Dan please get how do you feel about it?
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Here we go? We got a lady on the line, right.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's hear Joel's two cents.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: If someone's giving me jewelry, I'm keeping it. Like, I
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: don't understand.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: I don't believe in curse.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: Like you have to really intentionally put a curse on
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: a ring for me to be like, oh, I don't know, Joell.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: If someone gave you an engagement ring and you turn
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: them down, you'd keep the ring.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: How close are we stop?
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: That's fucked up to Dan, Dan, prepare the more you
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: know sound effects, because I have a public service announcement.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Guys, if a prospective suitor gives you an engagement ring
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: and you turn them down, give them back the fucking ring.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Speaking of you singing, you have a beautiful voice. At
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: the end of this episode, Yeah.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: We sing a Colin Hay song at the end of
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: the day.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: I know, I forgot that it was everybody At first.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I thought I knew that she sang. Jill Tracy.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: That's Tim Hobert's wife, right, Yes, Donald.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: That is Jill Tracy playing Elaine. And she is one
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: of our writer's very talented wives. He is an actress
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: and a singer. And she did such a little bit
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: of trivia for you. Jill Tracy is the name of
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: who on the show.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Well, if you know the show Scrubs, you'll know that
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: that's the name of Nicole Sullivan's characters in seasons one, three,
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: and five.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Also, Kit Pongetti, who plays doctor Mitchell, the doctor who's
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: beside Kelso in the singing number, went on to play
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Lady in season seven and eight.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, goes on to marry the janitor.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Yes, and death has an appearance here Rolla Winston Randall Renson,
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: and he kills Ernie.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: The old man, older doctor that he kills is one
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: of our head stunt guys, stunt coordinators, Ernie. So yeah,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: this musical number is beautiful and it was very theatrical,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: and I remember thinking at the time, this is so beautiful,
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: but will it work? I mean, it's such a weird
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: It was so theatrical and such a different turn. But
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: here we are talking about how we cried and got goosebumps,
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: So twenty years later it still works.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Well, it works. Okay, there's another reason why I got
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: goosebumps when I and I cried when I was watching this,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: because when we were shooting this episode and we got
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: to this point in the where we're all together at
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: the end and she goes on a clear day when
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: I can see, and then we go into the harmonies.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: I remember saying to everybody because we're lip syncing this,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: I was like, everybody sing off key, and uh, the
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: first person to sing off key is Sam Lloyd. And
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: so it goes on a clear day when I can see,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: and then Sam goes see, right, see whatever, and they
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: goes see it, and then we all go. So you'll
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: go on a clear day when I can see, and
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: then Sam will.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: Go see.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: On purpose because we're all singing off key. You the
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: audience can't tell. But when we're doing that, because it
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: was it was already we were lip syncing, so it
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: didn't matter. Whatever we saying didn't matter. And so Sam
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: does that and if you watch, you can see me
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: kind of start to lose it in the in the
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: in the shot and it was just one of those moments.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Which it's time for some wackiness.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I did, well, you know, did listen. We're dealing with
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: such serious stuff at the time. I wanted to, you know,
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: may alleviate the pressure.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well you did.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: You alleviated that shit, and it just, you know, when
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I look back at it now, it was like, wow, Sam.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Sam was always game to have fun in that realm,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And when he did that,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: it so for me, going back to that moment, it
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: was a it's a moment that I that on one
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: I'll never forget because when it happened, I couldn't stop laughing.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: It was my idea to do it as a gag
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: for the real but it turned out to be so
