- 0:00The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has
- 0:02announced strong results from its in -house developed
- 0:04Optimum Management System for the life of distribution
- 0:07cables. The system, protected under intellectual
- 0:11property rights in the UAE, has been operational
- 0:14within the distribution power division since
- 0:162022 and has helped reduce cable failure rates
- 0:20while delivering major operational and financial
- 0:23benefits. A key achievement is that the system
- 0:27received a five -star rating at the International
- 0:29Best Practice Competition, where it was recognised
- 0:32as a global standard for network reliability
- 0:34and asset management. It analyses cable and circuit
- 0:38data to identify components most at risk of age
- 0:42-related deterioration. Since the project's inception,
- 0:46the system has identified and isolated more than
- 0:49500 affected components, supporting more proactive
- 0:52inspection, Maintenance and Replacement Planning
- 0:55His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Altea, MD and CEO
- 1:01of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said,
- 1:04Our continuous efforts in research and development,
- 1:07coupled with our commitment to fostering creativity
- 1:10and innovation among Dubai Electricity and Water
- 1:12Authority employees, have resulted in the development
- 1:15of pioneering solutions that enhance the efficiency
- 1:18and resilience of the power network. The Optimum
- 1:22Management System for the Life of Distribution
- 1:24Cables embodies Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's
- 1:28proactive approach to managing critical assets
- 1:30by leveraging big data and advanced analytics
- 1:33to support decision -making and improve maintenance
- 1:36and operational efficiency. The system also enhances
- 1:41the reliability and sustainability of the distribution
- 1:43network, keeping pace with Dubai's rapid growth
- 1:46and supporting the Emirates' sustainable development
- 1:49goals. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayr,
- 1:54MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority,
- 1:58added, The system enables the transition from
- 2:01traditional maintenance practices to an intelligent
- 2:04approach based on predictive analytics and risk
- 2:07assessment, supporting more accurate and effective
- 2:10decision -making for inspection, maintenance
- 2:12and replacement activities. This enhances the
- 2:16operational readiness of the distribution network.
- 2:19improves asset management performance, and helps
- 2:22ensure the continuity of electricity supply according
- 2:25to the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
- 2:29Rashid bin Humayden, Executive Vice President
- 2:31of Distribution Power at Dubai Electricity and
- 2:34Water Authority, said the system uses an intelligent
- 2:37model to analyze technical and operational data
- 2:40from distribution cables, calculate precise aging
- 2:44indicators, assess age -related risks and help
- 2:48teams prioritise inspection, maintenance and
- 2:51replacement based on operational importance and
- 2:54asset condition. This innovation reflects the
- 2:57Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's broader
- 2:59commitment to smart, sustainable infrastructure
- 3:02and reinforces its global leadership in advanced
- 3:05digital asset management, while supporting efficiency,
- 3:08reliability and sustainability across Dubai's
- 3:12electricity network.
