A 21-year-old Marine, Lance Corporal Armando Ortiz Canseco, has been declared deceased after going missing during a training exercise off Southern California. Missing since Thursday, the search began shortly after midnight when he was reported missing from the USS Anchorage. Part of a joint Navy-Marine Corps drill involving the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Ortiz Canseco, who joined the Marines last April and earned his title in June, was serving as a rifleman.
