- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so Today I want to talk to
- 0:31you about change boy. What a big subject, right?
- 0:34Because it compasses so many different parts of our Lives.
- 0:38Personal professional big little small wide.
- 0:41It doesn't matter what it is. It all encompasses, this massive
- 0:45subject of change in our life and as a human beings we just do
- 0:50not typically like change. We will resist it, resists it
- 0:53resistant because it takes us out of our certainty puts us in
- 0:58a different state of mind. It it Makes us feel like I'm
- 1:03easy and we don't like that, you know, our nature is to look for
- 1:08the certainty and safety. It's just how human beings are
- 1:11wired, and we're never going to get around that.
- 1:14But our nature is also to look at what's going on in our world
- 1:20around us and we are surrounded by change all the time.
- 1:22I mean mother nature is one of the best ones that is constantly
- 1:26doing that to us. I mean, every single day, the
- 1:29light wherever you live every single All day, the light is
- 1:31Shifting and it's your days are getting a little longer, a
- 1:34little shorter, whatever it might be, there's always tweaks.
- 1:37There's always things happening in every blade of grass.
- 1:40Every little tiny thing. Nature is telling us change is
- 1:44inevitable. It's going to happen, but our
- 1:47pain isn't necessarily because of the change.
- 1:50Our pain is because of the resistance to the change.
- 1:52That's around us because we don't like it and we want things
- 1:55to stay exactly the same. You know, there was an episode
- 1:58of Sesame Street years ago where Elmo wanted.
- 2:00Christmas every day and I always laugh at that one, my daughter
- 2:03wanted to watch it over and over and over again.
- 2:06And you know, after a while Elmo, got sick of Christmas
- 2:10because it was every day and he had to realize that, you know,
- 2:14in order for things to be great, they have to shift, they have to
- 2:19move on. You can't have the same things
- 2:21all the time, everything is always about growing and
- 2:24expanding, and shifting, and changing.
- 2:28And we have to recognize Recognize in ourselves, that the
- 2:33resistance we put up the resistance, in our perspective,
- 2:36the resistance, in our desire for things to shift and change
- 2:39around us causes all of our pain, not the actual acts of
- 2:43things. Sure there are, it's inevitable,
- 2:45that there will be things that happen that cause us pain.
- 2:48We will lose things in our lives.
- 2:51People we love animals, we love. We will lose jobs that we love,
- 2:54we will lose situations. And if we are Wheatley, and
- 3:01totally honest, we will recognize that a huge tremendous
- 3:05chunk of that is that, that feeling and emotion that we have
- 3:09happening is because of our resistance to it.
- 3:13So our resistance to the change that is and because we feel so
- 3:20overwhelmed with it and I'm sorry for the dogs barking in
- 3:24the background. Can you hear all that?
- 3:26That's my neighbor's dogs. And, you know, we're just going
- 3:29to roll with it because Cuz this is important and it's a change
- 3:32in what we're doing, right? And I'm not going to resist the
- 3:34change, as it's happening. I'm just going to go and we're
- 3:36going to roll with it and see how it goes.
- 3:39So I'm looking. There it goes already away.
- 3:41So I think the most important aspect of what I want.
- 3:45You guys to hear me say today is look at whatever is going on in
- 3:50your life. That is causing pain and
- 3:51suffering and ask yourself how can I change my perspective so
- 3:57that I can move myself out of In suffering because pain and
- 4:03suffering is inevitable, but it's not something that you need
- 4:07to stay in. You can move through it.
- 4:10I promise you, I know that because I've done it so many
- 4:13times in my own personal life, with losses of many things.
- 4:17And it is not something that you have to stay in but it does
- 4:22require an acute level of awareness about where your pain
- 4:26and suffering is coming from and it requires you to be
- 4:30Cognitively aware that you can no longer resist.
- 4:34What is being put in front of you, if you keep resisting the
- 4:37loss. If you keep resisting to address
- 4:40it, if you keep resisting to move through it, you will stay
- 4:44in pain and it will move you eventually one way or another,
- 4:48so you might as well say just like Elmo.
- 4:51Did you know what? I got to?
- 4:52I got to just move on. I can't keep waiting for
- 4:54Christmas every day because goodness knows this isn't feel
- 4:58good. It's like it's not every time.
- 5:00It shows up, I'm it's not the same, it doesn't feel good.
- 5:04And I think that When you're, when you're doing this exercise,
- 5:09when you're really coming to terms with the fact that you're
- 5:12looking at yourself and you're saying, I am stuck in a place of
- 5:16resisting, the change that has been presented to me.
- 5:20You have to stop and pause and ask yourself who do I need to be
- 5:23now, you can't just go to it with the person that you've
- 5:29always been. You have to stop and ask
- 5:31yourself who do I need to be now to move through this.
- 5:35Where do I need to shift myself? Where do I need to move my
- 5:40emotions to? Where do I need to move my
- 5:42perspectives to? Because if you can do that, I
- 5:46promise you. That's when the great things
- 5:48started to happen, when you can shift it and you can start to
- 5:51look at, okay? What are the gifts in this?
- 5:53You know? When I lost my dad, I didn't
- 5:56think there was anything great about this at all.
- 5:59I never thought there was one great thing about it.
- 6:01I couldn't figure it out. He was my best friend.
- 6:03He was every meant, everything in the world to me.
- 6:06And there's still to this day. There was never, I can't I can't
- 6:10put my finger on certain aspects of losing him, but I will say
- 6:15this, when I stopped resisting that he was gone, when I started
- 6:19to realize that I had to do things on my own while I still
- 6:24felt like he was with me and I can talk to him and I have faith
- 6:27that I have connection with him. Still I had to come to terms
- 6:31with the fact that I had to make decisions and I had to move.
- 6:36In a certain direction when I started doing that my life
- 6:40changed and I know if he had still been here, some of the
- 6:45decisions that I made for myself, that put me right here
- 6:49in this spot, doing this for you, I wouldn't have made and I
- 6:54certainly wouldn't be living where I am.
- 6:56I certainly wouldn't be in the state that I am.
- 6:59I certainly wouldn't be doing the things that I was doing.
- 7:03I would have taken a completely different path.
- 7:06Because I was on a completely different path and once he
- 7:09passed then I shifted. So I can sit back and, you know,
- 7:14I can still feel the pain of the loss but I don't have to have
- 7:20the same interpretation of it. So maybe all of this stuff
- 7:24that's out there. Whatever is going on in your
- 7:26life, whatever change is happening that you have to come
- 7:30to terms with and move through and realize the resistance is
- 7:33not necessarily helping you with At this point, I'll tell you to
- 7:38just stop and pause and say, who do I need to be now moving
- 7:41forward. And what do I want to believe
- 7:43about this happening? So that I can move forward and
- 7:47just asking yourself some really better questions will help you.
- 7:51So I hope that this is helpful for you today.
- 7:54I hope that you understand a little bit more about change and
- 7:59resistance to change and I will see you guys tomorrow.
- 8:04Have a blessed day. Bye.
