- 0:00Speaker 1: You sure you're not? Man, No, I'm not mad, mister jerdy.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Can you ask Lisa if she's mad? What's that?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Mister Jerdy?
- 0:09Speaker 1: You're saying that you know women and that when women stay,
- 0:12Speaker 1: they're not mad, they're madder than ever. Oh she's gone.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Can you drive me home? I'm a little drunk.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Four Finger Discount Ude, Welcome to four Finger Discount.
- 0:38Speaker 4: With this week, we're here to review episode six of
- 0:41Speaker 4: the twentieth season of the Simpsons. It is Homer and
- 0:44Speaker 4: Lisa exchange crosswords. I'm Dando and I am guy.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Yes, we're back.
- 0:48Speaker 4: You know what it was? I actually mentioned this to Ali.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I said, we did dangerous curves and it left such
- 0:53Speaker 4: a bad fucking taste in my mouth that I wanted to.
- 0:55Speaker 5: Take a break.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I couldn't do it anymore. But Homer Lisa exchanged crosswords.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Thank God, much better than dangerous curves.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Very sweet little episode, but I don't know, enjoyable. I
- 1:04Speaker 5: mean you like Daddy daughter episodes?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I think just you know when you've gone
- 1:10Speaker 4: through these moments ago, I mean, obviously he Holly hasn't
- 1:14Speaker 4: had the level of argument with me yet, but she's
- 1:16Speaker 4: she's argued back and she walks and she.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Goes and I'm like, you do a gag.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah, So I enjoyed that aspect. I do think that
- 1:24Speaker 4: they could have done more with Gil here. So Gil
- 1:28Speaker 4: a bit of a hustle here. You won the crossword
- 1:30Speaker 4: contest over Lisa. He hustled her and they sort of
- 1:33Speaker 4: left her that, And I thought I could buy into
- 1:35Speaker 4: Gill Gutterson being a villain.
- 1:37Speaker 5: I was. Yeah, it was an interesting heel turn from Gil. Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 5: I'm kind of weighing up two things here. I think
- 1:43Speaker 5: you've said in the past how there was a time
- 1:46Speaker 5: when the Simps, when the Simpsons was writing gags, it
- 1:48Speaker 5: was writing gags that were specific for certain characters. This
- 1:52Speaker 5: gag for this one, this gag for that one. And
- 1:56Speaker 5: lately it seems to be more like, let's just throw
- 1:58Speaker 5: in a bunch of gags and we'll give them to
- 1:59Speaker 5: any sort of random character. Yeah, anyone could have been
- 2:04Speaker 5: the heel in this. I mean, it was interesting that
- 2:07Speaker 5: it was Gil. I like what you're saying about. It
- 2:09Speaker 5: would have been good to sort of set it up
- 2:11Speaker 5: a bit earlier. So you're playing on this perception we
- 2:14Speaker 5: have of Gil as the perpetual loser, as the underdog,
- 2:17Speaker 5: and then when he has the heeled him when he
- 2:19Speaker 5: turns out to be the hustler. That's a nice little
- 2:22Speaker 5: rug pull.
- 2:22Speaker 4: It could have been that Gil was the one that
- 2:25Speaker 4: got Lisa into cross words somehow, where you know, he
- 2:29Speaker 4: could have for some reason it stems from her helping
- 2:31Speaker 4: him to a cross and go thanks Lisa, And then
- 2:34Speaker 4: he eventually turns out to be a bad guy like
- 2:37Speaker 4: they were like a friend friends up until that point
- 2:38Speaker 4: or some day. Yeah, I don't Gil, Not Gil such
- 2:42Speaker 4: a nice guy who got me.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Into cross it's s and D. But then your mentor
- 2:47Speaker 5: turns out to be just the villain.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's not the point of the story. I
- 2:51Speaker 4: guess it's not. No, it was just a bit about
- 2:53Speaker 4: its spice. Yeah, the story. The story isn't really the
- 2:56Speaker 4: contest of the tournament at all. The story is Homer
- 2:59Speaker 4: betting against Lisa.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Yes, that's the real sort of crux of it. Lack
- 3:02Speaker 5: of faith or is a lack of faith the more
- 3:05Speaker 5: sort of an exploitation of a I guess a flaw
- 3:08Speaker 5: or weakness.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Well, I don't know. I just liked the way that
- 3:12Speaker 4: the inciting story actually led to something here. So whilst
- 3:16Speaker 4: him breaking up people was whatever it was. At least
- 3:21Speaker 4: it was a way for him to have the money
- 3:22Speaker 4: to bet against her, true, because normally they would just
- 3:26Speaker 4: go home hasting taking the fa the family savings.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Yeah, like, well, I guess you're not going to college
- 3:30Speaker 5: or something like that.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Little things like that matter because it makes Home become
- 3:34Speaker 4: even more despicable if he's using the family savings to
- 3:36Speaker 4: gamble on something, because there's a chance that he might
- 3:39Speaker 4: lose the savings. This is money that he's earned himself.
- 3:42Speaker 4: So leis he's lost his own money. He's not losing
- 3:44Speaker 4: the family savings. Lisa's college fund it and.
- 3:46Speaker 5: It doesn't double down on the dickishness.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and you're gonna be honest, Lisa said, I always
- 3:53Speaker 4: screw these things up for myself. I always do it,
- 3:56Speaker 4: and I feel like I'm going to do it again. Homer,
- 3:58Speaker 4: why would he not gamble against her?
- 4:00Speaker 5: I must have met There were times when I was
- 4:02Speaker 5: watching this episode thinking my bad person, thinking Homer is
- 4:07Speaker 5: savvy gamblers, a savvy punter.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and they sort of they judging for it, and
- 4:14Speaker 4: I'm thinking, what do you mean?
- 4:16Speaker 5: I'm glad how they pointed that, you know, the barman
- 4:19Speaker 5: slash bookie who was like, here's your money trashing your
- 4:21Speaker 5: daughter's like, you're awfully judging for a bartender who's taking
- 4:26Speaker 5: bets on the side. Yeah, I mean, I'll admit it.
- 4:28Speaker 5: I was thinking not a bad move by home. When
- 4:33Speaker 5: that happens, I always think, oh God, my moral compass
- 4:35Speaker 5: is just completely askew. I'm really a terrible person, and
- 4:39Speaker 5: not even underneath it all just on the service. Well,
- 4:41Speaker 5: I'm watching down, I'm.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Watching it going could I gamble against Elliott in like
- 4:45Speaker 4: a football game or I go? I just I just
- 4:48Speaker 4: don't think I could do it.
- 4:50Speaker 5: You would.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I would feel too bad. Even if I knew it
- 4:52Speaker 4: was the white bet, I'd go No. I just couldn't.
- 4:55Speaker 4: I couldn't live for myself. And what do you think
- 4:57Speaker 4: of Lisa's reaction to it? Where she wasn't necessarily angry?
- 5:01Speaker 5: You know, that's well, that's worse. Yeah, it's become a
- 5:04Speaker 5: cliche at this stage. I'm not mad. I'm just appointed.
- 5:06Speaker 5: It's like, well, that's even worse. Mad at me Mum
- 5:09Speaker 5: and dad? Yeah, you know, going out and drinking all
- 5:11Speaker 5: night or whatever all, you know, coming home and throwing
- 5:13Speaker 5: up on the rug.
- 5:14Speaker 4: It's the same thing that's happened Marge being not proud
- 5:16Speaker 4: when but shopliftsh March just she doesn't yell at him,
- 5:19Speaker 4: but she just the cold shoulder is just the terrifying. Yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 4: because it's just not terrifying, it's just it hurts you more.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Well, you get the feeling. It's like, you know, an
- 5:28Speaker 5: explosion of anger, unless you're in a really sort of
- 5:31Speaker 5: dysfunctional house. I was like, it's one and done. It's like, God,
- 5:34Speaker 5: damn it, you're fucked up. I'm so angry. I just
- 5:41Speaker 5: take a break, take a break. Okay, you're messed up.
- 5:45Speaker 5: We all learned something today, but we all learned something,
- 5:47Speaker 5: whereas where is something like no, it's fine, No, it's fine.
- 5:53Speaker 5: It's like, oh shit, is this ongoing? Is this a
- 5:55Speaker 5: real shift in the relationship. Is I've just damage just
- 5:58Speaker 5: beyond repair and this is how it's going to be
- 6:00Speaker 5: from now on? Terrifying? Yeah, scary, Yeah, but the Simpsons
- 6:06Speaker 5: invariably reversed to the status quo. It wasn't gonna stay
- 6:10Speaker 5: bad for too long, and Homer, to his credits, came
- 6:13Speaker 5: up with a nice gesture of reconciliation or asking for forgiveness.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's just again. I put up a
- 6:19Speaker 4: video yesterday on social media of me talking about why
- 6:21Speaker 4: Bart Versus Australia is a much better vacation episode because
- 6:24Speaker 4: I did best of vacation episodes of Elliott, Joe and
- 6:26Speaker 4: Neil from Simpsons Index over the Break, and I was
- 6:28Speaker 4: talking about how Bart Versus Australia relies on the Simpsons
- 6:31Speaker 4: experience Australian culture, where as they go to England, it's hey,
- 6:35Speaker 4: it's Prime Minister Tony Blair.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Hey, it's the Queen.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It's relying heavily on guest stars. This one here again
- 6:40Speaker 4: they relied on the guest star for the conclusion of
- 6:42Speaker 4: the story. Ah yeah, I say it felt natural. It's
- 6:45Speaker 4: kind of intially he got in touch with the New
- 6:47Speaker 4: York Times crossword guy. But still it made I guess
- 6:50Speaker 4: it suited the story.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Well, he's got that fat water cash. I mean, I imagine
- 6:53Speaker 5: that's going to talk. That is true.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I didn't That's what I didn't play it up there?
- 6:57Speaker 5: Did they?
- 6:57Speaker 4: No?
- 6:58Speaker 5: But that's what I'm thinking. I guess it's simple or
- 7:00Speaker 5: maybe you know, maybe you're supposed to pick up but
- 7:03Speaker 5: it maybe you're not.
- 7:03Speaker 4: But I guess we should have mentioned that I reckon
- 7:06Speaker 4: him holding the money bags. How did you make this happen?
- 7:08Speaker 5: Dad?
- 7:09Speaker 4: Oh, I have my ways and him home is gambly
- 7:11Speaker 4: money written on a bag of a dollar sign or something.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but it also puts the moral scales back in
- 7:15Speaker 5: the balance because he's got he hasn't got ill gotten
- 7:18Speaker 5: gains by betting against Lisa. But yeah, that money's tainted
- 7:21Speaker 5: because it comes, as they say, drenching his daughter's tears. Again,
- 7:26Speaker 5: I always say my moral comes is out of balance.
- 7:28Speaker 5: But you know, it's like when you see movies. I
- 7:30Speaker 5: think I've said this before. When is it lethal weapon two?
- 7:34Speaker 5: I've never seen too. Oh well, there's a bit of
- 7:36Speaker 5: it where Mel Gibson and Danny Glover they're in the
- 7:39Speaker 5: ship containers full of drug money, and Danny Glove was
- 7:42Speaker 5: like this one handful of the Lord. This could pim sorry, sorry,
- 7:45Speaker 5: the dreadful Danny Glove repersonation to a ship. This could
- 7:51Speaker 5: pive my daughter's college. And melgiven like take it.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Man.
- 7:53Speaker 5: You know, the money doesn't know where it came from.
- 7:55Speaker 5: And of course, because it's good drug money, there's something
- 8:00Speaker 5: good that the money don't get no conscience. But yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 5: so when you have something like that. Invariably money that
- 8:07Speaker 5: is ill gotten or has just that taint about it.
- 8:10Speaker 5: You can't keep it, you can't use it so or
- 8:13Speaker 5: you have to use good. You have to use it
- 8:15Speaker 5: for good so and you have to get it back
- 8:16Speaker 5: and you in this case, you've got to get back
- 8:18Speaker 5: in your daughter's good books. You do it by throwing
- 8:21Speaker 5: a bit of money at merv Regal I believe that's
- 8:24Speaker 5: his name is and Will SHORTZ with a Z. Two
- 8:26Speaker 5: things that Grandpa has no control of anyone. That's not
- 8:29Speaker 5: a bad that was That was okay.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I feel like your modern day approval of Simpsons Jake's
- 8:35Speaker 4: That wasn't bad.
- 8:37Speaker 5: That one was okay. I like that I'm doing my
- 8:44Speaker 5: DENI not bad. There was a funny little bit good
- 8:50Speaker 5: jokes like that was okay. It feels like I'm damn
- 8:55Speaker 5: in the rest of it. But most of it sucked.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Most of them was ship But that was all right.
- 9:02Speaker 5: So I always say, yeah, just the will Will Shorts. Apparently,
- 9:08Speaker 5: the appearance of these two gentlemen in documentary wordplay about
- 9:12Speaker 5: the creation of cross words was the inspiration to sort
- 9:16Speaker 5: of get these guys on board. Okay, yeah, Now, if
- 9:19Speaker 5: I saw wordplay it was back in the day. I
- 9:22Speaker 5: think it was the two thousand and six. Yeah, if
- 9:26Speaker 5: I saw it, my apologies to all involved. I don't
- 9:29Speaker 5: really remember it apparently, but I probably should remember because
- 9:32Speaker 5: that's kind of shit seems right in my wheelhouse, like
- 9:34Speaker 5: nerds playing with words. Man.
- 9:35Speaker 4: It reminds me of that Donkey Kong documentary.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the King of Colin.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that kind of ship where it's is they have
- 9:40Speaker 4: their own world wherever it matters, and you look at
- 9:43Speaker 4: and go, No one knows who these people are, but
- 9:45Speaker 4: in their universe it's everything.
- 9:47Speaker 5: There were There were a lot of great docos like
- 9:49Speaker 5: that around this time. The Spelling Bee one as well,
- 9:51Speaker 5: isn't it Spellbound? Spellband's fantastic? Yeah yeah, so that was
- 9:56Speaker 5: what got Regal and Shorts on board. It's like the
- 9:58Speaker 5: name Will Shorts a.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Good name, well Shorts what it sounds like a comedian
- 10:03Speaker 4: though to me it does a bit does it sounds
- 10:05Speaker 4: Late Night with Bullshorts?
- 10:07Speaker 5: So yeah, he's got a bit part on Seinfeld. He's like, hey,
- 10:09Speaker 5: he ran into him at the comedy club. Type five.
- 10:14Speaker 4: My favorite, my favorite moments I really enjoyed when they
- 10:17Speaker 4: misspellut the names on the shirt and it said ILSA
- 10:20Speaker 4: and she thought it was okay. First I did not
- 10:22Speaker 4: what going for, and then she went disappointed.
- 10:24Speaker 5: I went, oh, you know what, not bad. Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I thought that was a very clever joke. I liked it,
- 10:31Speaker 4: and I liked the grandpa bit as well. Of course
- 10:33Speaker 4: the grandpa bit was very good. I'll tell you what
- 10:36Speaker 4: a nice camera appears. We've seen this guy a bit.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Well. I think he's usually a lawyer, the guy at
- 10:41Speaker 5: the very start who when they've got the lemonade.
- 10:43Speaker 4: STAD mean, the blue head lawyer who arrives as the
- 10:45Speaker 4: blue head lawyer. But this becomes the lawyers, the blue
- 10:47Speaker 4: head layer. I thought, oh, but he's got like a
- 10:49Speaker 4: side gig or something, doesn't he because they I think
- 10:51Speaker 4: he's just he's working for holding the case of the cancel.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, great gig. It is a great gig. Yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 5: excited about it. And it's like Bud's around a bride
- 11:02Speaker 5: with thirty five cents on a I don't care if
- 11:04Speaker 5: it's boty.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Five cents And there's one of my trivia questions.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Okay, so I'm sorry about that. I thought it was
- 11:11Speaker 5: a very obvious, very tell not even telegraphed but it's
- 11:15Speaker 5: like you could tell in the writer's room or in
- 11:17Speaker 5: any sort of creative sphere. They were like, this will
- 11:20Speaker 5: be pretty funny. They talk about San Francisco people mover,
- 11:22Speaker 5: it's like speaking of that, and they cut to the
- 11:24Speaker 5: gay club. Yeah there was. I wasn't. I don't know.
- 11:29Speaker 4: The gay jokes didn't really work for me in a
- 11:31Speaker 4: twenty twenty five rewatching where it was like, who here
- 11:34Speaker 4: was a new partner? Put your hands up? Okay, what
- 11:35Speaker 4: switches a new person? I was like, you wouldn't make
- 11:39Speaker 4: this joke in a room full of women and men place.
- 11:43Speaker 5: You know, you've also got very egregious hankers gay boys.
- 11:48Speaker 5: But it also did give us a brief return of
- 11:51Speaker 5: Scott Thompson from the Great comedy Trip Kids in the
- 11:54Speaker 5: Hall playing Grady. Yeah, he was already in was it
- 11:56Speaker 5: Three Gays of the Condo? Yeah, yeah, So we had
- 12:00Speaker 5: one or two lines. But I'm always happy to see
- 12:02Speaker 5: and or hear Scott Thompson. So that was good news.
- 12:05Speaker 5: I think that might be everything because I also too
- 12:08Speaker 5: like the Ilsea gag.
- 12:09Speaker 4: I thought that was, yeah, there's another moment in there
- 12:12Speaker 4: somewhere that I just it's the gambler who says Homers
- 12:17Speaker 4: is part of the Asian kid.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Hey you good name? You know what is it? I
- 12:20Speaker 5: don't know. He's not my kids.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Next question, you there eating the past.
- 12:25Speaker 4: All let's get into trivia. My first question for you is,
- 12:29Speaker 4: and this was a favorite moment slash trivia question. I'll
- 12:31Speaker 4: put it in trivia. But I really liked the in
- 12:33Speaker 4: memory of words that have been taken now the dictionary.
- 12:36Speaker 4: What a nice little spin on the people who have
- 12:37Speaker 4: lost over the years, over this last twelve months.
- 12:39Speaker 5: So what are the words?
- 12:40Speaker 4: Do you know any of them? I know all of them? Okay,
- 12:42Speaker 4: then I can read them.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Unlike you. I check my notes. And when we asked
- 12:48Speaker 5: avery questions, skidatl nixonian Zounds, mimeograph, and hoot Nanny Nanny
- 12:54Speaker 5: got a really big standing ovationion. It's my understanding. Yes,
- 13:00Speaker 5: I'm gonna do some savy cross promotion here. I mean,
- 13:04Speaker 5: you're the marketing guru in this room, but I like
- 13:07Speaker 5: to think I'm an enthusiastic amateur. We're going to be
- 13:10Speaker 5: recording a Movie Guide episode fairly soon with our man
- 13:16Speaker 5: Leondar Moulton talking about should we talk about so? Which
- 13:19Speaker 5: movie it is? It's gonna be out by then. Anyway,
- 13:21Speaker 5: we're talking about walk the line. While we're talking about
- 13:24Speaker 5: walk the line, to the line, guy water Line. It
- 13:30Speaker 5: was directed was directed by the maker of a Complete Unknown,
- 13:35Speaker 5: which is in cinemas now. It's a bad Bob Dylan.
- 13:38Speaker 5: I believe the word hoot nanny comes in that reallyir
- 13:41Speaker 5: bit nanny. Yes, because there's a bit of a folk
- 13:44Speaker 5: musician Pete Seeger in there. I believe enjoys nanny every
- 13:48Speaker 5: now and again.
- 13:48Speaker 4: I couldn't tell you what it means. If someone said
- 13:50Speaker 4: news hoot nanny in context, I couldn't have done it
- 13:52Speaker 4: for you. It's just a fun word to say it is. Indeed, sc.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Is a real word. Whizzle wazzle is just a yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 5: But no, Nanny's just like a good old fashion knees up,
- 14:06Speaker 5: get together, Ah okay, people go fish. Hold. I believe
- 14:11Speaker 5: that hoot nanny is different from a hotel.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I said, hold digging from the radio Bart now when
- 14:17Speaker 4: he goes where everyone going, it's a good old fashioned
- 14:20Speaker 4: hold a look.
- 14:21Speaker 5: You said, as in, you know, would you never interrupt?
- 14:24Speaker 5: Hodown is the So you was just asking a question.
- 14:29Speaker 5: I'm going to ask you, what do it? Homer refinance
- 14:32Speaker 5: his home at what interest rate? Well, twenty six percent,
- 14:36Speaker 5: it wasn't yep. All right.
- 14:37Speaker 4: My next question for you is for forteen nine ninety
- 14:39Speaker 4: five at the Bureau of License and Permit, licenses and permits,
- 14:42Speaker 4: what can you get?
- 14:43Speaker 5: You can either drive marry or drive marry.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And it's all three in one. For our forty nine
- 14:48Speaker 4: ninety five drive Mary and hunt. Yeah, license, marriage license
- 14:51Speaker 4: and you can hunt.
- 14:52Speaker 5: You realize that our brains are becoming one because that
- 14:55Speaker 5: was one of my tripper questions.
- 14:56Speaker 4: I just feel like these days there's less and less
- 14:58Speaker 4: sort of sight gags and things that sort of go
- 15:00Speaker 4: that's a trivia question.
- 15:01Speaker 5: You know.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Sometimes you're watching the classics and you go, I've got
- 15:03Speaker 4: the ten triv questions and we're three minutes in.
- 15:05Speaker 5: It's just chock full of winners. All right.
- 15:08Speaker 4: My next question I asked your next question now, okay,
- 15:12Speaker 4: I still want to yours just then?
- 15:13Speaker 5: Okay, Yes, what is at the base of the tender
- 15:17Speaker 5: dump system pyramid? There are two things I didn't even
- 15:20Speaker 5: look now what was it? Flattery and lies? Okay?
- 15:23Speaker 4: And my final question for you is in regards to
- 15:27Speaker 4: the tender dump Simpson tender dump system, what how do
- 15:31Speaker 4: you get it for free? I'll be there in so
- 15:34Speaker 4: and so minutes. Oh, breakup is free. I want to
- 15:37Speaker 4: say thirty thirty minutes. Yeah, it tend to be thirty minutes.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's thirty minutes. Yeah, thirty minutes all free.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Yeah. Have you ever ordered a pizza? No, I'm not gonna.
- 15:45Speaker 5: I'm not carrying up in that regard or even darrening.
- 15:47Speaker 5: By the way, did you like what I did there? Yes?
- 15:49Speaker 4: Because because today is Happy birthday to the patron Saint
- 15:53Speaker 4: my uncle Darren I know listens to the show, So
- 15:55Speaker 4: happy birthday.
- 15:55Speaker 5: My unofficial uncle Darren. I am an unofficial uncle in
- 15:59Speaker 5: a lot of way. It's all my friend's kids and well,
- 16:02Speaker 5: my friends and my friend's kid refer to me as uncle.
- 16:04Speaker 4: You're like the uncle Darren of that family.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I am to many family.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I feel like there's always that one uncle or auntie
- 16:10Speaker 4: or whoever who all the nerds in the family in
- 16:13Speaker 4: regards like the sci fi nerds whatever, credit that one person.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Ago.
- 16:17Speaker 4: I wouldn't be into Star Wars. It wasn't for him.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I would wouldn't be into all these things. It wasn't
- 16:20Speaker 4: for him. He introduced me to all this stuff.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I like to consider myself and Uncle Darren to certain people. Yeah,
- 16:25Speaker 5: but ye, props to Uncle Darren. Never met the man,
- 16:28Speaker 5: but he I don't think I've ever met him, but
- 16:31Speaker 5: he's turned Dan to into the dando that he is today.
- 16:33Speaker 4: I've never invited a guy at a family dinner yet.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I haven't brought himame yet.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Well it's because I'm the type you don't bring him to.
- 16:44Speaker 5: But I'm not met Uncle Darren, but I feel as
- 16:46Speaker 5: if I know him.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yes, all right, so he both that Uncle Darren. So
- 16:49Speaker 4: I was gonna ask you, uh huh. I feel like
- 16:51Speaker 4: maybe there was a pizza franchise that tried this for
- 16:54Speaker 4: a while, but they haven't done it for a long time.
- 16:56Speaker 4: But the so and so minutes or it's free. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 4: I still feel even if they arrived if it was
- 17:01Speaker 4: like twenty five minutes late, maybe, but it was in
- 17:03Speaker 4: like five ten minutes, I'm not going to hold him
- 17:05Speaker 4: to it.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah, And I get the feeling. It also depends on
- 17:07Speaker 5: the person who's delivering it as well. If you see
- 17:09Speaker 5: they're sort of running up to your pizzas here and
- 17:14Speaker 5: you're looking at the watch going tic tic tic tic tick.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I mean, if you get some stoned in the man,
- 17:20Speaker 5: who's your pizza? It's missing a slice? Yeah, it's like,
- 17:26Speaker 5: this's got here in thirty two minutes. I want my
- 17:28Speaker 5: money back, as opposed to someone who's going to do
- 17:30Speaker 5: in twenty eight minutes. I want you got to hear
- 17:34Speaker 5: in twenty eight minutes. But it's missing three slices. But
- 17:39Speaker 5: I think if you've got some like I really need
- 17:42Speaker 5: this tip, yeah, you'd be like, we'll let it slide.
- 17:46Speaker 5: But at the same time, you know pizza franchises all
- 17:48Speaker 5: fast food franchise does that be you know, writing checks
- 17:51Speaker 5: your backcand cash?
- 17:52Speaker 4: Who orders Pizza Hut and Domino's deliver it anymore? Who
- 17:55Speaker 4: actually when you get a pizza? Who actually thinks I'm
- 17:58Speaker 4: going to go to Pizza Hut now or I'm going
- 18:00Speaker 4: to go to Dominoes? Who does that?
- 18:02Speaker 5: Is it just lose kids? High school kids? Y?
- 18:05Speaker 4: Essentially you only have like five bucks in their pocket.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Ah. But even on just like, look we can't be
- 18:11Speaker 5: us cooking it's pizza night, I'll be like it's got
- 18:14Speaker 5: some only from Enzo's friend of the pot Enzos or
- 18:16Speaker 5: you know El Toro in town, both really good pizzas
- 18:19Speaker 5: and let's get Domino's mid lovers like, why that's garbage
- 18:22Speaker 5: garbage pizza, absolute garbage, legitimate pizza.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Everything on these pizza has come out of a packet.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Everything I'm including the dough. I want to say, you know,
- 18:32Speaker 5: share that to Dominoes. But at the same time, no,
- 18:34Speaker 5: I don't enjoy Domino's pizza.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I made the mistake. Once I've seen this, I don't forget.
- 18:39Speaker 4: I was on Facebook, I may have told the story
- 18:41Speaker 4: that's on the podcast, and there was a Domino's One
- 18:44Speaker 4: dollar National Pizza Day or something, and all pizzas were
- 18:47Speaker 4: one dollar Dominoes, right, But it was only the store.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Maybe it was a grand opening or something. It was
- 18:51Speaker 4: only the store in Heighten somewhere. And I was like, Okay, cool,
- 18:56Speaker 4: this can't be legit, but anyway, I'll try it. And
- 18:58Speaker 4: I ordered ten pizzas for ten but on this and
- 19:01Speaker 4: I get there and the entire car park is just
- 19:04Speaker 4: bombba with people, and I was like, oh, and these
- 19:08Speaker 4: poor workers in there just like receipts, receipt just putting
- 19:11Speaker 4: in the bear with the receipt. It was just that
- 19:13Speaker 4: they're just like stressing out all these kids.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Like oh, well, what do we do?
- 19:16Speaker 4: Basically, the owners put that ad out there and I
- 19:17Speaker 4: only supposed to put out there for twenty four hours,
- 19:19Speaker 4: but they put it and take it off, so for
- 19:21Speaker 4: the entire week.
- 19:24Speaker 5: I think someone's getting fired. Oh boy, the car fuck.
- 19:30Speaker 4: And I got there, they go it's going to be
- 19:32Speaker 4: about a three hour wait and I was like, you
- 19:34Speaker 4: know what, I'm gonna go home, come back because I
- 19:36Speaker 4: paid ten off for ten lunch pieces. I'm going to
- 19:37Speaker 4: get my ten lunch pieces. I got the pizzas, go
- 19:40Speaker 4: home eight moment.
- 19:44Speaker 5: You reminded me of something the other day in Geelong,
- 19:46Speaker 5: we have a drive through coffee franchise called bean.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Squeeze and Nicholas Patron Nicholas are friend of the pod.
- 19:53Speaker 5: They're good. They're really good bean Squades and one of
- 19:56Speaker 5: the hallmark keystone items is they do a really good
- 20:02Speaker 5: chicken and cheese toasty and Luna would getting driving someone
- 20:07Speaker 5: the other day, I was like, oh stop, I've grab
- 20:08Speaker 5: a coffee banks you're hungry, We'll get one of those.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Sad was oh yeah, get there and we're like, oh
- 20:14Speaker 5: we'll have this this I want lots of butter, lots
- 20:17Speaker 5: about it. I imagine it's got lots of butter because
- 20:20Speaker 5: it tastes pretty good. This is a reference to another
- 20:23Speaker 5: episode we did recently. We were just talked about butter
- 20:25Speaker 5: A Lots going down to South Fark, that's correct. We said,
- 20:29Speaker 5: oh yeah, we'll have one of your chicken and cheese toasties.
- 20:32Speaker 5: I'm sorry, we're the only Bean Squeeze franchise and jial
- 20:35Speaker 5: On that doesn't do the chicken and cheese. We're like,
- 20:39Speaker 5: that's just unfortunate for you, because I imagine you've got so
- 20:41Speaker 5: many people coming through and saying I'll have a medium
- 20:44Speaker 5: lastey and a chicken and chick. Sorry, we don't do
- 20:45Speaker 5: the chicken. Chit what we do cheese? Yeah, you must be.
- 20:48Speaker 5: They did everything else and we got the ham and cheese.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Why not We didn't ask.
- 20:53Speaker 4: You're a franchise. It's like when you go to Baker's
- 20:55Speaker 4: to light and I love the berry and white chokscuns right,
- 20:58Speaker 4: fucking unbelievable, right, Mike wave for fifteen secon twelve seconds,
- 21:01Speaker 4: twelve seconds exactly, Okay, be precise. It's like it's not
- 21:03Speaker 4: too hot and it's enough for the chocolate to start
- 21:05Speaker 4: melting on the inside. Right, So berry and white Chok's
- 21:07Speaker 4: gone and the one Baker's that we always go to,
- 21:10Speaker 4: decided it would be a great idea to start adding
- 21:12Speaker 4: passion fruit to it. So it's now passion fruit burying.
- 21:15Speaker 4: And I was like, I just want berry and white
- 21:19Speaker 4: chock the way it's been for the last ten years.
- 21:21Speaker 4: They go, oh, we'll try in a new flavor, and
- 21:22Speaker 4: I went, I'm not a.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Fan of this. I refuse to quote bender. You should
- 21:28Speaker 5: try something else.
- 21:29Speaker 4: So then I went to another one who just did
- 21:30Speaker 4: the right one the right way. And then recently we
- 21:32Speaker 4: went there, got back from a holiday and they were like, oh,
- 21:35Speaker 4: we're nowt doing lemon and berrying white Chok's gone.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Nicola likes.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Nicola goes, no, it doesn't work. There's too much lemon.
- 21:42Speaker 4: And I was just like, why are you fucking this up?
- 21:45Speaker 4: You had the best scones in Geelong. Why are you
- 21:48Speaker 4: tampering with this shit?
- 21:49Speaker 5: That's very sad.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Just leave it, passion fruit.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Lemon, just leave it.
- 21:53Speaker 4: It's like, you know what it is. It's someone like
- 21:55Speaker 4: Sydney from the Bears coming in and going we had
- 21:57Speaker 4: to make this fancy, no fucking this. I was like,
- 21:59Speaker 4: you had to bury in chocks, got a fucking work.
- 22:00Speaker 5: People liked it. Why are you changing this? Why are
- 22:02Speaker 5: you changing it? You had a really good sandwich shop.
- 22:05Speaker 5: These things are worth their weight in gold. Why is
- 22:08Speaker 5: you fucking this up?
- 22:09Speaker 4: I'm sure I've just watched fishes, like I said of
- 22:11Speaker 4: the Bear. Yes, but the entire time I've said to Nicola,
- 22:14Speaker 4: I cannot stand this Sydney character. Can't stand it. She's
- 22:17Speaker 4: come in assume as she's running the show. He gets annoyment.
- 22:19Speaker 4: People don't give her run things by her, and I'm like,
- 22:22Speaker 4: you were just the newbie last year. You've just strolled in.
- 22:25Speaker 4: You've turned the best fucking hamburger joint or the best
- 22:28Speaker 4: burger joint in Chicago into this fancy restaurant.
- 22:30Speaker 5: What are you doing? I would be living this.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Said, I said to Nicola Local Reference. This is how
- 22:35Speaker 4: I feel every time I look at the Nash.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Now, Ah, yeah, that's true.
- 22:38Speaker 4: You drive past and you go you're you're bereft of
- 22:41Speaker 4: personality the Nash.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Yeah, he used to be a you were the soul
- 22:45Speaker 5: of the city. A lot of geelong soul has very
- 22:49Speaker 5: much been sort of chipped and whittled away.
- 22:52Speaker 4: They bike lanes and fucking updated pubs manner.
- 22:56Speaker 5: And by the way, yes, look, Sydney is I think
- 22:59Speaker 5: I don't think it's only Carmi who's trying to turn
- 23:01Speaker 5: the beef into the bear. So yeah, as I said,
- 23:06Speaker 5: wats the next episode as well? That's really good?
- 23:08Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, folks, we've been watching it tonight. We got
- 23:10Speaker 4: watched it last night. But Paul Holly had a tussles
- 23:12Speaker 4: out recently and she's not doing well.

- 26:19Speaker 4: It's in a description of this podcast. The original aireday
- 26:21Speaker 4: of Homer and Lisa Exchange cross Words was November sixteenth,
- 26:25Speaker 4: two thousand and eight. It was production code kab F
- 26:29Speaker 4: one nine, written by Tim Long and rereaded by Nancy Cruz.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Apparently featured music is word up by Cameo. You bet yeah?
- 26:36Speaker 5: Love that song? I didn't which one was it? Excuse me?
- 26:38Speaker 5: Are you unfamiliar with word up?
- 26:39Speaker 4: I'm unfamiliar with Cameo?
- 26:41Speaker 5: Word up? Everybody say when you hear the call, you've
- 26:45Speaker 5: got to get it underwe It's the funkiest thing ever.
- 26:48Speaker 4: I've definitely heard it in the episode. I've probably really
- 26:50Speaker 4: enjoyed it. But if you had it said to me
- 26:52Speaker 4: ten minutes ago, what is word up by Cameo? I
- 26:53Speaker 4: couldn't have told you what? Well, that's the thing because
- 26:55Speaker 4: Cameo is probably best never word up. Oh okay, I
- 26:58Speaker 4: don't think they're never much else.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Yes, people who have seen the video to word may
- 27:04Speaker 5: know Cameo because of the insane red cod piece worn
- 27:08Speaker 5: by the lead singer.
- 27:09Speaker 4: I have read a really interesting kid bit. Here's page
- 27:13Speaker 4: that Regal merv Regal created all the crossword puzzles that
- 27:17Speaker 4: appear in this episode, and as a promotion for the episode,
- 27:20Speaker 4: a special Simpsons related message dedicated to this episode that
- 27:22Speaker 4: appeared in The New York Times Sunday Crossword on November sixteen,
- 27:25Speaker 4: two thousand and eight. That's a really fun unique cross brand.
- 27:29Speaker 5: It is like that.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I like original things like that.
- 27:32Speaker 5: You're a fan of cross brand.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I'm buying an ad and putting in the paper. It's no,
- 27:35Speaker 4: we're going to integrate this and collaborate integration.
- 27:38Speaker 5: It's a very good thing. The New York Times gets
- 27:40Speaker 5: a bit of a shout out and a big up
- 27:42Speaker 5: in this episode. It does seem to be regarded as
- 27:44Speaker 5: the gold standard of crosswords, like it'll be sort of
- 27:49Speaker 5: name checked in popular cultures, like, you know, it's really great.
- 27:51Speaker 5: You know, if we'd wake up when we do The
- 27:52Speaker 5: New York times crossword puzzle together with the upper then
- 27:56Speaker 5: playing in the background. That's correct, And then of course
- 27:59Speaker 5: you're partner dies.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yes, and you get a dog and some weak kidknocks
- 28:02Speaker 4: and your.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Dog and your house floats balloons And do people really
- 28:06Speaker 5: remember what I mean? Of course we remember what happens
- 28:08Speaker 5: in UP, as we just sort of talked about it.
- 28:10Speaker 5: But I mean, I think people when when they talk
- 28:12Speaker 5: about UP, they're generally talking about the.
- 28:14Speaker 4: First ten Well, that's the most memorable bit. But no,
- 28:16Speaker 4: my kids love UP, love it. Yeah, it's really it's
- 28:19Speaker 4: a really good movie, is very good. Yeah, picture, they're
- 28:22Speaker 4: doing some good stuff there. Wow, that the final shot
- 28:24Speaker 4: with the house on the cliff face, and you're like, oh, god, Wally,
- 28:30Speaker 4: that's a good Wally's fantastic. But also a film that
- 28:34Speaker 4: I when I first saw Wally, I went, yeah, good luck,
- 28:36Speaker 4: kids are going to watch this ship because the first
- 28:37Speaker 4: half an hour so dark and gloomy and it's not exciting.
- 28:40Speaker 5: My kids love it, love it.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Granted they always skiped to part where I get to
- 28:43Speaker 4: the Spaceshi where it's bright and shiny, but these on
- 28:47Speaker 4: the spaceship it's scary because I'm thinking this is probably
- 28:52Speaker 4: we're heading, We're we're there heading.
- 28:54Speaker 5: We're very close. I'm as guilty as the next person,
- 28:58Speaker 5: but hey, we came back. Here was a reference to
- 29:01Speaker 5: the eruption Vesuvius. Vesuvius apologized. Guys.
- 29:05Speaker 4: The family sits on a bench dressed in togas and
- 29:07Speaker 4: it's covered in volcanic ash.
- 29:10Speaker 5: All right, sorry, I got to do some sound checking,
- 29:13Speaker 5: just real quick, man, Vesuvius, just a little quick historical check.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Is the one that destroyed the city of Pompeii. Okay,
- 29:20Speaker 5: what a bitch.
- 29:23Speaker 4: One angry volcan So the episode kicks off with Barton
- 29:26Speaker 4: Lisa running their lemonade stand and they.
- 29:29Speaker 5: He's doing his spiels, which sunshine in your mouth.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I aren't getting any customers, so they do the
- 29:33Speaker 4: whole let's put some money in the jars. It looks
- 29:35Speaker 4: like people actually buying lemonade from us. All of a sudden,
- 29:37Speaker 4: everyone comes clearly just wants some Homer asked to put
- 29:40Speaker 4: someone his tab, But no, not happening at all. Have
- 29:42Speaker 4: fun with your lemonade, babies. It's just yet very childish
- 29:45Speaker 4: and nothing. Home is off to a bad start this Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 4: he makes up for it by the end. I don't
- 29:49Speaker 4: mind it, so the car won't start, so he takes
- 29:51Speaker 4: less his bike and it gets stuck on his backside.
- 29:53Speaker 4: And by this point I went, oh, no, this ain't
- 29:57Speaker 4: looking good at all. So they're at mos And this
- 30:00Speaker 4: was my biggest grit with the episode. Right, Call me crazy,
- 30:04Speaker 4: call me a traditionalist. Right, I love my Simpsons, and
- 30:08Speaker 4: I feel like over the thirty years've been watching the show,
- 30:11Speaker 4: thirty plus years watching the show, I've created emotional connections
- 30:14Speaker 4: to the characters and to the story, especially once from
- 30:16Speaker 4: the Golden era. Right, So, missus Kay and Skinner got
- 30:20Speaker 4: together in grade school Confidential back in like season eight, Right,
- 30:23Speaker 4: And granted their relationship has been on the rocks here
- 30:26Speaker 4: and there from time to time. He hasn't been the
- 30:27Speaker 4: best boyfriend, blah blah blah. She left him for a
- 30:30Speaker 4: comic book guy for a while and it was just
- 30:32Speaker 4: it was bizarre, Right, didn't like that. But for the
- 30:36Speaker 4: relationship that does end so hazard here with no emotion involved,
- 30:41Speaker 4: I just left me going, you know what, fifteen years ago,
- 30:46Speaker 4: you would have treated this with real substance. It would
- 30:47Speaker 4: have been this would have been an episode. Now it's
- 30:50Speaker 4: just a passing gay set up. The opening act.
- 30:55Speaker 5: It does feel like there's no real sticking to it.
- 30:58Speaker 5: There's no stickiness.
- 31:00Speaker 4: No, we've invested so long in this relationship, whether it
- 31:03Speaker 4: be on the rocks or whether it's thriving. So many
- 31:05Speaker 4: episodes have had them that we've invested so long, ten
- 31:08Speaker 4: plus years that they've been together, right, and now it's
- 31:10Speaker 4: just I have we're not together and skinner with like
- 31:13Speaker 4: one line from Homer is actually know what my life
- 31:16Speaker 4: is good without libsus k And I'm going, what do
- 31:18Speaker 4: you mean you should what?
- 31:19Speaker 5: But I get the feeling like maybe three episodes from now,
- 31:22Speaker 5: you'd go they'd be together again without it explaining it. Yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 5: without even explaining it. It didn't feel like this was
- 31:29Speaker 5: done as a plot point. It just felt like this
- 31:31Speaker 5: was done as a way to get the inciting incident rolling.
- 31:35Speaker 4: So I don't know how you how you do that?
- 31:37Speaker 4: Though you're gonna at least explain see you can do
- 31:40Speaker 4: it obviously because they don't give a shit, But me
- 31:43Speaker 4: as a fan, I'm going, no, No, you can't just
- 31:45Speaker 4: break up two characters who have been together for ten
- 31:48Speaker 4: plus seasons.
- 31:49Speaker 5: No, you need more peripheral characters who were not that
- 31:54Speaker 5: invested in.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Look at Luanne and Kirk, right, two characters who we
- 31:58Speaker 4: didn't really know much about up to that was season
- 32:01Speaker 4: eight as well. I think Millhouse Divided, right, Look how
- 32:04Speaker 4: much emotional punch that episode had. They split up two characters,
- 32:07Speaker 4: and they kept them split up. They changed the character
- 32:09Speaker 4: of Kirk, made him a more popular character, and not
- 32:12Speaker 4: so much. I'm just thinking, but that's the equivalent of
- 32:15Speaker 4: a Golden era relationship breakup compared to Season twenty breakup,
- 32:19Speaker 4: where it's literally just a gag to set up the
- 32:21Speaker 4: opening story.
- 32:22Speaker 5: I get you.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, just let me just feeling you just don't
- 32:25Speaker 4: really do you writers have emotional investment in these characters anymore?
- 32:30Speaker 5: Yeah? Or are you just killing as we said slotting?
- 32:35Speaker 5: Oh yeah, these characters work in this situation without thought
- 32:38Speaker 5: of the history that we have with them or the
- 32:41Speaker 5: possibilities of them together moving forward.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Why did it have to be missus Kayane Skinner? Why
- 32:45Speaker 4: would missus Kayane Skinner ad Moose in the first place?
- 32:47Speaker 5: Breaking up? No? Ide? Oh? Yeah? Why were they? Yeah?
- 32:50Speaker 5: I mean I hardly strike me as the type who
- 32:51Speaker 5: would go to that kindry. It just doesn't make it. It's
- 32:54Speaker 5: just convenience. Yeah, there are other certainly other characters and
- 32:57Speaker 5: other couples that would be more appropriate in that setting
- 33:01Speaker 5: and more appropriate to break up, don't Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be characters we at least know,
- 33:05Speaker 4: and maybe they no other relationships in this show anymore.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 33:08Speaker 4: This is whatever. Think of a new way to have
- 33:10Speaker 4: become a breakup guy. Just just be Lenny in the Wife.
- 33:14Speaker 4: That's all I had to be. She walks in and
- 33:16Speaker 4: break him up anyway. So missus Kay has asked one
- 33:19Speaker 4: of the guys because Skinner thinks she's proposing. She walks
- 33:21Speaker 4: over to the barn says, can one of you guys
- 33:23Speaker 4: break up with my boyfriend for me?
- 33:25Speaker 5: I'll buy you a beer? So home.
- 33:26Speaker 4: It goes and doesn't realize it. He's good at it.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Edna wants to break up.
- 33:30Speaker 6: She wants to break up Yeah with me? Yeah, look
- 33:36Speaker 6: at it this way. You're a free man, unlike me.
- 33:40Speaker 6: You have all your hair, unlike.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Me, no kids turg you down or a crippling mortgage
- 33:45Speaker 1: that you refinanced at twenty six percent because a dancing
- 33:48Speaker 1: internet cowboy told you to. Oh god, I hate my life.
- 33:56Speaker 4: But again, do we have to have homo? Soay hates
- 33:58Speaker 4: his life I'll go crippling mortgage. I've got three kids
- 34:01Speaker 4: who are sucking me dry, sucking all my money away,
- 34:04Speaker 4: all these things.
- 34:05Speaker 5: And I'm just going, why, why, Yeah, why are you
- 34:08Speaker 5: so intent on showing us that life in the Simpsons house,
- 34:12Speaker 5: particularly for Homa is just a terrible owner of store
- 34:15Speaker 5: when he doesn't have it. That's bad.
- 34:17Speaker 4: I mean, Marge should be the one who was upset
- 34:21Speaker 4: with life because she is living with this buffoon. For
- 34:24Speaker 4: him to be the one who's constantly the one that's
- 34:26Speaker 4: just wrecking shit, spending the family's money, being out man,
- 34:29Speaker 4: it's been ridiculous. And he goes, oh, I hate my
- 34:32Speaker 4: life and thinking, ah, it just doesn't work for me.
- 34:34Speaker 4: It just annoys me. But anyway, so he breaks up
- 34:37Speaker 4: with I guess Skinner to break up with missus Kay
- 34:40Speaker 4: makes it much more.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Positive for him. It makes him feel good about him.
- 34:44Speaker 4: It's like a half day or whatever. Then Lenny says, well,
- 34:47Speaker 4: can you dump Doreen for me? When I've met Doreen.
- 34:50Speaker 4: We're about to meet her, but mostly she's chipped on everyone,
- 34:54Speaker 4: cheated on him with everybody except for Mo, even though
- 34:56Speaker 4: he's giving her plenty of gifts. And then she walks
- 34:59Speaker 4: in and harmsus. Lenny's dead. She goes, what do you
- 35:01Speaker 4: mean how I spoke with him? When now the next
- 35:02Speaker 4: piece of news won't be so bad?
- 35:04Speaker 5: No, Joe.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Yeah, the kids are now still doing their lemonade stand,
- 35:08Speaker 4: Maggie's making some more in the pool, Maggi's chiming in
- 35:10Speaker 4: as well, and it turns out they've got no vendor's license,
- 35:13Speaker 4: so the blue head lawyer shuts them down. They smash
- 35:16Speaker 4: up the stand and then they ask for some lemonade.
- 35:19Speaker 4: A weird way too. I guess they had to get
- 35:22Speaker 4: her to go to the It's just a weird, a
- 35:26Speaker 4: really odd setup for the crosswords for Lisa to find
- 35:30Speaker 4: someone doing a crossword, or she couldn't just find Grampa
- 35:33Speaker 4: doing a crossword. You know said line about oh this
- 35:35Speaker 4: feels like so and so with the extra steps. It's like, yeah,
- 35:38Speaker 4: you've added one or two more steps than you actually
- 35:40Speaker 4: need it here, because the thing is they go there
- 35:42Speaker 4: to get the license so they can open up the
- 35:43Speaker 4: lemonade stand again. So she gets the license. So why
- 35:46Speaker 4: is by not doing the lemonade stand anymore?
- 35:49Speaker 5: What was the point that does me?
- 35:52Speaker 2: Man?
- 35:52Speaker 5: I didn't write this.
- 35:53Speaker 4: So we're now at the Bureau of Licenses and Permits
- 35:56Speaker 4: and hibit he was halfway through an operation when he's
- 35:58Speaker 4: license expired. The wise guys there, I mean, it's the
- 36:00Speaker 4: wisest guy. He's doing his crossword. And I really liked
- 36:04Speaker 4: Lindsay Nagel here saying a lett the bananas in my car.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I'm like, that is actually terrifying. You know, when you
- 36:08Speaker 4: when I'm planning a trip, the supermarket is part of
- 36:11Speaker 4: my trip, I go, I need to plan my trip
- 36:13Speaker 4: so the food's not in the boot for too long.
- 36:14Speaker 5: That's true.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Yeah, that's when you know you're in a dog like,
- 36:17Speaker 4: all right, I've got chicken, breast and cheese.
- 36:21Speaker 5: I've got yoga. Yoga's got to be at the because well,
- 36:28Speaker 5: I'm times are tough. People cross the living through the roof.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I hate my life for the most part. M But
- 36:38Speaker 5: you'll go to various supermarkets because it's like, oh that
- 36:41Speaker 5: someone's always got it cheaper. So yeah, I've got my
- 36:43Speaker 5: little triangle of like, first off, Woolies at the strand
- 36:47Speaker 5: weldy Cole's across the road.
- 36:49Speaker 4: So when they're across the road is okay. But when
- 36:51Speaker 4: you start driving various locations, you realize the money I'm
- 36:53Speaker 4: spending on fuel, not just bought it at the first place.
- 36:55Speaker 5: We're in Geelong. Nothing's that far from anything else.
- 36:58Speaker 4: But see, Coals are the only place that do the
- 37:02Speaker 4: one killer block of light cheese. Will Worst don't do it.
- 37:05Speaker 4: So if we want cheese, we shop at Coals, but
- 37:07Speaker 4: then Coals, but Willworst do better. Their bakery does better.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Bread rolls. It's like, h we need cheese and bread rolls?
- 37:13Speaker 5: What do I do? You go to boath Are we
- 37:18Speaker 5: especially on hot days? Are we realizing, oh, this is
- 37:21Speaker 5: the place you got the deer ah Ben and Jerry's
- 37:24Speaker 5: Banoffi pie, ice creamers, loving and Jerry's. I really do it.
- 37:27Speaker 5: And sometimes it's half price. It's not bad. That's not bad.
- 37:32Speaker 5: You pick that up, and then I gotta be really
- 37:34Speaker 5: quick with these other ones because that's sitting in the back.
- 37:37Speaker 4: I just love how to normalize the half priced things.
- 37:39Speaker 5: I reckon. It was two years ago.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I was ranting about it like it's coming people, it's
- 37:42Speaker 4: fucking gummt.
- 37:43Speaker 5: I know you're looking at me like I'm an absolute sucker.
- 37:45Speaker 5: I don't know. I do the same thing the winds
- 37:47Speaker 5: working in.
- 37:48Speaker 4: I now shop based on what's half priced at the
- 37:50Speaker 4: supermarket that week. I saw this coming, it fucking came,
- 37:54Speaker 4: and I'm also sucking on falling for it because what
- 37:55Speaker 4: I was I supposed to do well should at full price.
- 37:57Speaker 5: No, the bottom line is already quite healthy.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Oh yeah, not good at all. But Lisa offers help
- 38:04Speaker 4: to get the crossword done in time, so it's by
- 38:06Speaker 4: five o'clock so they can all get their licenses. She does,
- 38:09Speaker 4: And what's a fall little word for hero?
- 38:11Speaker 5: Hero?
- 38:12Speaker 4: I meant, Lisa, Hello, Homer, it's your old roommate, Grady,
- 38:19Speaker 4: the gey guy.
- 38:20Speaker 5: That's not all I am, Well, it's a lot of
- 38:22Speaker 5: what I am. AnyWho I heard how good you are
- 38:25Speaker 5: at breaking up couples. I need your help to break
- 38:27Speaker 5: up with Julio because I met someone new, someone much
- 38:31Speaker 5: more cool and refreshing.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Got it, Merge. I'm going to a hardcore gay club
- 38:38Speaker 1: and I won't be home till three in the morning.
- 38:40Speaker 2: You have fun.
- 38:42Speaker 4: I feel like this line here pretty much sums up
- 38:45Speaker 4: Season twenty Simpsons, where Homodist says to Marge, I'm going
- 38:48Speaker 4: to a hard old gay club. I'll be back to
- 38:50Speaker 4: three am. Lisa's like no.
- 38:51Speaker 5: Worries, like no worries, I quite like marche have fun.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Yeah, oh she does have fun tough she okay, yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 4: this is a joke there, but just feels so whatever.
- 38:59Speaker 4: One thing I did like, though, is that he's still
- 39:01Speaker 4: doing this job from his actual job, so at least
- 39:04Speaker 4: Tim Long has made an effort to As we mentioned earlier,
- 39:07Speaker 4: the money he used isn't Lisa's college fund, it's money
- 39:09Speaker 4: he earned. He's doing this job as the second job
- 39:12Speaker 4: from his actual.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Job from his side Hustle.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Yeah, he signed Hustle. So Bart then finds Lisa doing
- 39:17Speaker 4: crosswords at night. She's going crazy and he's humping her
- 39:21Speaker 4: with avan, realizing because everybody he says a word, she says, oh,
- 39:23Speaker 4: that's that's the word for this, that's the word for that.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Yes. Indeed, there is even a shout out to the
- 39:27Speaker 5: eighties teen flick Losing It an early role for Tom Cruise.
- 39:30Speaker 5: Is it really? Then?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Homer is now dancing with Julio. Meanwhile, it's the middle
- 39:35Speaker 4: of the night at the hardcore gay club, and he says,
- 39:39Speaker 4: you've made the next five minutes without love much more bearable,
- 39:41Speaker 4: and was going.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Are we doing here? You guys are promiscuous?
- 39:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the joke, and then he get says anyone
- 39:48Speaker 4: else who want to have a new partner or bring
- 39:50Speaker 4: up with them, put the hand up and then just
- 39:51Speaker 4: take two steps at the left.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Hey, there, you're all happy. I'm going.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Lisa tells Marge that she's now a cruciverbalist. What do
- 39:59Speaker 4: you think of the term CRUs verbalist? It isn't actual term.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Let's have a lot I believe it is. Is it? Really?
- 40:04Speaker 5: It's a little much for mine? Is it? Say? Crossword
- 40:07Speaker 5: enthusiast or creator?
- 40:09Speaker 4: Crucifer erblist a person who enjoys or skill of solving
- 40:11Speaker 4: cross words. I mean, I guess they're gonna have a name,
- 40:13Speaker 4: don't they, chrusciferbalist.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Well, there are certain big words for certainly, like I'm
- 40:18Speaker 5: like for fishermen, it's like pisca episcatorian or something, or
- 40:22Speaker 5: just just say you like to fish, just you have
- 40:24Speaker 5: to do crosswords. I like crosswords.
- 40:28Speaker 4: But the thing is, though, when it's like guest Book
- 40:29Speaker 4: of World Records, who is the best person at doing
- 40:31Speaker 4: crosswords or who's the best crucis verbalist, I'd much rather
- 40:34Speaker 4: be the best crucifer erbalist.
- 40:35Speaker 5: That's true.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Yeah, anyway, so I liked marche here another religion. Oh, Lisa,
- 40:40Speaker 4: you just know you're gonna drop all these once you
- 40:41Speaker 4: meet a Jewish guy in college. So then Grandpa says
- 40:44Speaker 4: that he also does crosswords as well, and we get
- 40:46Speaker 4: the Will Shorts reference.
- 40:47Speaker 5: Here, which was nice. I also liked his use of
- 40:50Speaker 5: the term alphabet hotel. Yeah, cross words. I thought that
- 40:53Speaker 5: was very sweet and cute.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and Will Short's two things I'm no longer able
- 40:58Speaker 4: to change by myself. And I thought cruel but funny
- 41:02Speaker 4: coming for all this. We're now on the bus school bus.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Lisa is looking at the window and she's just seeing
- 41:08Speaker 4: various signs and turns them into crosswords. I'll get the
- 41:10Speaker 4: scrabble vibes here, though.
- 41:12Speaker 5: I get where you're coming from.
- 41:14Speaker 4: I love scrabble. It takes me back to going to
- 41:16Speaker 4: my name's place. She loved playing scrabble, Marlene, And yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 4: I always when I was older, I was like.
- 41:21Speaker 5: I'm going to be good at scrabble. Who play scrabble? Anyoney?
- 41:24Speaker 5: Doesn't w scrabble anymore? I think they still don't. I
- 41:26Speaker 5: think there's probably a big online scrabble contingent.
- 41:29Speaker 4: I feel like I could buy a board game of
- 41:32Speaker 4: Scrabble and Nicola would be over the moon. I feel
- 41:35Speaker 4: like it's I feel it'd be something like we're jammed too,
- 41:37Speaker 4: Like let's just let's put some jazz on and play
- 41:39Speaker 4: some scrabble.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Dan, maybe you should do that.
- 41:41Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe I will.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Is there themed scrabble? Is there Simpson Scrabble?
- 41:46Speaker 6: Do I know?
- 41:46Speaker 5: I mean I imagine that might. I don't have it's themed.
- 41:50Speaker 5: It'd probably be branded Simpson Scrabble. Yeah.
- 41:52Speaker 4: There it is twenty five dollars on eBay. Where does
- 41:56Speaker 4: it look though, let's have a look Simpson Scrabble.
- 41:58Speaker 5: So it's see imagine it's a regular scrabble board and
- 42:01Speaker 5: tiles with the occasional sort of homerhead, just like a
- 42:05Speaker 5: deck of cards. Yeah, but se Monopoly is very much
- 42:08Speaker 5: it gets themed. Yeah, the pieces and whatnot. There's there's
- 42:13Speaker 5: a you know, a Geelong Monopoly, or there's a Simpsons Monopoly,
- 42:17Speaker 5: or there's Will Too Monopoly or something like that.
- 42:20Speaker 4: So it's the normal board, but it has the Simpsons
- 42:23Speaker 4: faces underneath it.
- 42:24Speaker 5: So you put it over the top.
- 42:24Speaker 4: So yeah, it's it looks somewhat distracting. Yes, So the
- 42:28Speaker 4: pieces are also yellow with red writing as supposed to
- 42:31Speaker 4: white and black.
- 42:31Speaker 5: I feel like the white blacks.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Get with a lot of double a double side of board,
- 42:37Speaker 4: so you can do a really fucking confusing one, or
- 42:39Speaker 4: you just do the standard board which has the Simpsons.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Yeah it's not too bad, but yeah, I would much
- 42:43Speaker 4: prefer just the standard scrabble.
- 42:45Speaker 5: It's like with chess sets. I don't like a.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Really ornate Simpsons grabble Simpsons chess, no I would.
- 42:51Speaker 5: I would not be a fan. No, no, no, just
- 42:54Speaker 5: give me regular ass chess pieces.
- 42:56Speaker 4: People always say I've got the Simpsons Chess set if
- 42:57Speaker 4: you want it, and I've just never bothered to get it.
- 42:59Speaker 5: I don't want it. It came out in nineteen ninety
- 43:01Speaker 5: one and it looks awesome, but it's ten bucks to
- 43:04Speaker 5: ten dollars delivery, like and subscribe people, so ten I
- 43:09Speaker 5: can get here. Yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Fun, fact not that fun. I've ever played a game
- 43:13Speaker 4: of chess in my life. I don't know how to
- 43:14Speaker 4: play it.
- 43:15Speaker 5: Can you teach me? I would, except I don't really know.
- 43:18Speaker 5: It's one of those ones that just doesn't take for
- 43:19Speaker 5: me every I don't know, five or ten years or so.
- 43:23Speaker 5: I mean, like it would be good to know it's chess,
- 43:26Speaker 5: chess people strikeing is really interesting, but I just don't
- 43:30Speaker 5: have that kind of brain.
- 43:31Speaker 4: See this person, he's selling it for ten dollars on eBay. Right,
- 43:33Speaker 4: that's what I thought. And I clicked onto the listing
- 43:36Speaker 4: and you click into it and it's choose your piece
- 43:38Speaker 4: for ten dollars.
- 43:41Speaker 5: I don't think that's how you eBay.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's vintage. It says choose your own figure
- 43:46Speaker 4: figure in the title. I didn't read it.
- 43:47Speaker 5: But then if I was smart, twenty.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Four people via this in the last twenty four hours.
- 43:51Speaker 4: People love their Simpson's chess sets. Wow, this one's trending
- 43:54Speaker 4: twenty one. I've already sold shit. Maybe you should get on it.
- 43:58Speaker 4: I mean they look horrific. Beau, there's nine ninety one.
- 44:01Speaker 4: But anyway, at Simpsons Chess.
- 44:02Speaker 5: If I was smarter and I'm more motivated, yeah, my
- 44:08Speaker 5: teacher how to play chess.
- 44:09Speaker 4: I'm going to be doing a themed episode at some
- 44:12Speaker 4: point in the future on Simpsons games surranging from the
- 44:16Speaker 4: nineties all the way through to the two thousands to now,
- 44:18Speaker 4: whether it be board games, video games. Because I was
- 44:19Speaker 4: playing Hit and Run with Ali yesterday and I went,
- 44:22Speaker 4: you know what, there's so many Simpsons games that I
- 44:24Speaker 4: haven't played. I want to do a bit of a
- 44:25Speaker 4: deep dive so I get my hands on them and
- 44:27Speaker 4: play them.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Yeah, you have fun with that. I will not be here.
- 44:33Speaker 4: But as we're saying, though, Lisa's looking at the window
- 44:35Speaker 4: and it looks very scrubb less. But it's crosswords that
- 44:37Speaker 4: the sciences turned them into crossword puzzles. And then we'll
- 44:40Speaker 4: just get Otto here. Use this gag all the time.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Who's javing the bears?
- 44:44Speaker 5: Who bust the bust? You're on?
- 44:47Speaker 4: So now Homer is at work and he's taking calls.
- 44:49Speaker 5: You just can't sanction asff.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Oh that's ridiculous. Well, they just got no gags from anymore.
- 44:54Speaker 4: He's one of those characters I think. I feel like,
- 44:57Speaker 4: if you're going to kill the character, you could have
- 44:59Speaker 4: killed off Otto and it would have had an emotional
- 45:01Speaker 4: impact because he's always he's been there from the start.
- 45:02Speaker 4: But he's not really going to be missed. Just getting
- 45:04Speaker 4: a new bus driver, yeah pretty much. You know he's got,
- 45:06Speaker 4: he's got, there's nothing to it.
- 45:07Speaker 5: Yeah, the tank has kind of run dry when it's the.
- 45:10Speaker 4: Stone of metal head, that's it. Yeah, Yeah, you could
- 45:13Speaker 4: have killed him off. You probably still do it now.
- 45:14Speaker 4: People still probably would give a ship. Someone dies and
- 45:18Speaker 4: you go, oh share, Yeah, I mean he's not he's
- 45:21Speaker 4: in consequential, but had yeah, yeah, and you get a
- 45:24Speaker 4: new bus driver Rippotto, we'll miss you not at.
- 45:30Speaker 5: All of a sudden. Auto figurines on eBay just skyrocket, Well,
- 45:34Speaker 5: yeah that's up. Let's yeah, let's yes, play kill this
- 45:38Speaker 5: person please, Matt Salomon, Matt, I got a great deal
- 45:42Speaker 5: for it. We have all the auto figurines. And then
- 45:45Speaker 5: you yeah, you planned an idea in someone's head. It's
- 45:48Speaker 5: like inception.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Yes, but Homer is sorry at work and he's taking
- 45:53Speaker 4: the calls and he's discussing the tender dump system and
- 45:56Speaker 4: he'll be there in thirty minutes or your breakup is
- 45:57Speaker 4: free and me get the montage for him breaking up.
- 45:59Speaker 5: Very relationship.
- 46:00Speaker 4: So Miss Hoover one.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Was actually pretty funny with the whole jumbo tron thing. Yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 5: I find jumbo tron sort of displays. I don't know,
- 46:08Speaker 5: I'm not for them.
- 46:09Speaker 4: No, they're very convenient when you're at the game and
- 46:11Speaker 4: you can't make out what's happened and they show it
- 46:13Speaker 4: on the jumbo trunk.
- 46:13Speaker 5: Oh No, I'm all for that. I'm more of the
- 46:15Speaker 5: JumboTron being used as a like kiss camp or whatever,
- 46:18Speaker 5: but not yet, not as I don't like people who
- 46:20Speaker 5: are like, look up there the jumbo drones, as can
- 46:23Speaker 5: you to marry me? Oh yeah, don't do it a sports.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Game because invariably you're gonna have someone like I don't
- 46:28Speaker 4: want to buy. There's various videos on line. You look
- 46:31Speaker 4: at it and go, oh break in real time. Yeah,
- 46:36Speaker 4: but there's the wedding as well. Plus Snake's tattooed is
- 46:40Speaker 4: it for never forever and puts in an inn for never?
- 46:43Speaker 4: Classy dad joke, not the tattoo bit, but just that
- 46:47Speaker 4: more like never. Four figure discount is brought to you

- 47:39Speaker 4: So Lisa is now doing crosswords at school and Chalmers
- 47:41Speaker 4: asked what she is doing. Turns out he likes to
- 47:43Speaker 4: do crosswords as well, and it suggests first he's just
- 47:45Speaker 4: the ballban basketball tournament by accident, and then he suggested
- 47:48Speaker 4: he crosswords tournament. I didn't mind the interactions he were
- 47:51Speaker 4: Skinner and Chalmers as well. You know what was their
- 47:54Speaker 4: first one reference? There's a reference. Oh sorry, my bad,
- 47:58Speaker 4: he says it again. Skimmers that because of the pool
- 48:00Speaker 4: boy you just heard, Oh my bad, Homer is now
- 48:03Speaker 4: bragging to margin better about how much money he's making whatnot.
- 48:05Speaker 5: And Marge says, you know.
- 48:07Speaker 4: It's you're making it a little bit too easy for
- 48:09Speaker 4: people to end a relationship because of a little bit
- 48:11Speaker 4: of a rough patch. She's very much you know, you're
- 48:13Speaker 4: going through a rough patch, you work through it, you
- 48:15Speaker 4: work through it, and if it's not you can't work
- 48:16Speaker 4: through it. I guess March doesn't. She just sticks with
- 48:19Speaker 4: it and she but she likes it or not. Yes,
- 48:22Speaker 4: I like to think that if Marge never had the kids,
- 48:24Speaker 4: she would have got out of there. Yeah, she was,
- 48:27Speaker 4: She's there for the kids. But she mentions what happens
- 48:31Speaker 4: if someone you know, but my doubts with you or whatnot.
- 48:34Speaker 4: And he just sort of sits there for a while,
- 48:36Speaker 4: ponders about it. Time passes, and then he has dreams
- 48:38Speaker 4: of the relationship spirits. I'm a little put off by that.
- 48:42Speaker 4: These are the babiesies people to have. And I was like,
- 48:44Speaker 4: oh shit, it's like a spirit abortions, Like, oh shit.
- 48:49Speaker 5: I know.
- 48:49Speaker 4: And then I like the anti the games of scrabble.
- 48:56Speaker 4: But she says, he says that he's getting out now.
- 48:58Speaker 5: I'm not sure.
- 48:59Speaker 4: However, sleeps Sam again and he's snoring when at the
- 49:02Speaker 4: Crosswords tournament, it was give me similar vibes to when
- 49:05Speaker 4: we had the Boggle tournament with Peggy Hill. That's correct,
- 49:08Speaker 4: speaking of the Hill, Yeah, great episode.
- 49:09Speaker 5: That was do you remember which a hotel that was
- 49:12Speaker 5: being held out. No, what was it? It was a
- 49:13Speaker 5: Springfield highth It got you trivia out, you happy. I
- 49:18Speaker 5: wanted to cross them all off the list, and there
- 49:19Speaker 5: was one that was still glaring out of me. I'm like,
- 49:22Speaker 5: how can I fold this in elegantly, subtly without dando knowing?
- 49:26Speaker 5: I knew, but and I couldn't think of anything, so
- 49:29Speaker 5: I just said it. It was good. Yeah, I liked it.
- 49:31Speaker 5: It was all right. That wasn't mad. It wasn't mad.
- 49:36Speaker 5: So tomorrow, on the sign of what did you see
- 49:38Speaker 5: what I said to today? The crossword tournament. Tomorrow, go
- 49:40Speaker 5: ahead and get some free Yeah, yeah, hey, what's going on?
- 49:44Speaker 1: It's kind of a secret, so shut the door. Most
- 49:46Speaker 1: of the way, we found a way to make this
- 49:49Speaker 1: tournament interesting. We bet on the matches really well. I
- 49:53Speaker 1: did bring this envelope full of money, and these days,
- 49:57Speaker 1: betting in a bar is safer than any stock bind
- 49:59Speaker 1: of real est state investment.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Agreed, So we're gonna better.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I want you to put it all on my little girl,
- 50:06Speaker 1: and poorly with the Asian kid. He has that name,
- 50:09Speaker 1: you know what is it?
- 50:10Speaker 5: I don't know. He's not my kid.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Then we got the montage of her winning. She's doing
- 50:14Speaker 4: really well.
- 50:14Speaker 5: I wish I understood gambling a bit better. I don't
- 50:17Speaker 5: know chess and I don't know how to gamble. I mean,
- 50:19Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not way what do you mean do
- 50:21Speaker 5: like the parlay thing? I don't know what that means.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Neither do I know. My friends are all about it,
- 50:25Speaker 4: but they do. They got ah they are multi and
- 50:28Speaker 4: things like that, got the multi old sports. Yeah, it's
- 50:32Speaker 4: just it's really sad how we say thank God that
- 50:36Speaker 4: we don't have alcohol over foot anymore. No, but just
- 50:39Speaker 4: gamble your money away. Yeah, you're just giving money away.
- 50:42Speaker 5: I had to mean, I had to say it, but
- 50:44Speaker 5: I actually listened to other podcasts and occasionally.
- 50:47Speaker 4: That you reminded me of its newest times.
- 50:50Speaker 5: I'm telling you, I'm just keep my options open. Good luck.
- 51:00Speaker 5: Do you need someone who was a very popular member
- 51:01Speaker 5: of the four figure.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Dia Dannel No, the other one, mitch.
- 51:11Speaker 5: On one that I enjoyed very much. They always have
- 51:14Speaker 5: sports bed ads beforehand.
- 51:15Speaker 4: You mentions before and you just get really angry about it.
- 51:18Speaker 5: I'm like, can't we just get to talking about TV?
- 51:22Speaker 5: That's why I'm here.
- 51:23Speaker 4: But then become a patron of the show, and you
- 51:25Speaker 4: have to listen to the ads you get to add.
- 51:27Speaker 5: Free and early. I'm assuming I suppose I could do.
- 51:31Speaker 5: I suppose I should walk it like I talk about
- 51:33Speaker 5: I just it's all very like, oh, you should have
- 51:35Speaker 5: done the same game multi. It's like I don't even
- 51:37Speaker 5: know what that is. Yeah, I just don't know this term.
- 51:39Speaker 4: I get the reviews sometimes and it's like, I wish
- 51:42Speaker 4: there wasn't so many ads in this show, and it's like,
- 51:43Speaker 4: maybe should fucking support them?
- 51:44Speaker 5: Then, okay, you know, just telling me this, you're telling everybody.
- 51:48Speaker 4: I say, I'm various when I'm looking at reviews of
- 51:50Speaker 4: other shows and whatnot, and like, I'm thinking, through, what
- 51:52Speaker 4: do people say about this?
- 51:53Speaker 5: And he goes, used to be good.
- 51:54Speaker 4: Now they've got ads, I'm thinking, are they giveing any
- 51:57Speaker 4: hours of.
- 51:58Speaker 5: Free entertainment here? Also? Know, ever, ads keep the wheels
- 52:04Speaker 5: of commerce turning, folks. Yeah, we had a pretty good system.
- 52:09Speaker 5: That's the thing.
- 52:10Speaker 4: People are so used to not seeing ads now because
- 52:12Speaker 4: they watch streaming services and then when they get as
- 52:14Speaker 4: they go what is this.
- 52:16Speaker 5: And that, and then streaming services like, oh, well, we
- 52:19Speaker 5: can't sustain these prices. Anymore, pay more for no ads
- 52:23Speaker 5: or keep this this I mean not in the streaming service,
- 52:26Speaker 5: but yeah in Australia. In the States you call it
- 52:28Speaker 5: cable TV. Here we call it pay TV. It's like,
- 52:30Speaker 5: I'm paying for this TV and I'm still got ads.
- 52:32Speaker 5: Ads were used to head, that's our TV pay for itself. Yeah,
- 52:35Speaker 5: so wait a minute, I'm paying and I'm also having
- 52:37Speaker 5: to watch ads. I don't know how this works. And
- 52:39Speaker 5: now they're going to start doing it on Netflix and
- 52:40Speaker 5: will they already do it on Amazon Prime bees US.
- 52:43Speaker 4: Yeah, we've got enough money. At least they're only advertising
- 52:45Speaker 4: their own ship.
- 52:46Speaker 5: That's true. Yeah, but you just pitched me at home waving.
- 52:52Speaker 4: As I was saying to somebody the other day, I
- 52:56Speaker 4: think it's just there's now been enough time transpired with
- 53:00Speaker 4: streaming services where there is a generation who aren't used
- 53:03Speaker 4: to having to watch ads for shows. They're just so
- 53:05Speaker 4: used to Netflix is just there, parents are paying for
- 53:08Speaker 4: the Netflix has always just been there, Stands been there
- 53:10Speaker 4: or whatever, Amazon Hulu and there's no ads or the
- 53:13Speaker 4: very little if adult ads on there. They're so used
- 53:15Speaker 4: to watching their favorite shows without ads, and the concept
- 53:18Speaker 4: of having to watch ads infuriates them. But usually the
- 53:22Speaker 4: ads are there because you're not paying for it, tru.
- 53:24Speaker 4: I mean you're saying Fox Time want it. That's a
- 53:26Speaker 4: bit different. But I'll watch Have You Been Paying Attention?
- 53:28Speaker 4: We watch it on ten play, and you're gonna watch
- 53:30Speaker 4: the ads. And I says to Nicola, Well, this show
- 53:33Speaker 4: has to survive somehow, of course, Like if we don't
- 53:36Speaker 4: watch these ads, they won't keep funding this show.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, there, Rea is weird. Newspapers were so long,
- 53:41Speaker 5: you know, newspapers weren't making money from here's twenty cents.
- 53:44Speaker 5: Give me my copy of the Herald's out. No, the
- 53:47Speaker 5: AD's in it.
- 53:48Speaker 4: Yeah, don't draper the real estate listening all back down?
- 53:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Advertising, Yeah, it makes the world go around, baby, Because
- 53:55Speaker 4: we started watching Have You Been Paying Attention? On Plagues?
- 53:57Speaker 4: Because there's no ads. I went to Nicola.
- 54:00Speaker 5: I feel like I wanted to.
- 54:01Speaker 4: Make my civil duty to watch it on template with
- 54:02Speaker 4: the ads because I want them to know that people
- 54:04Speaker 4: are watching this show cause it's my favorite fucking show. Absolutely,
- 54:07Speaker 4: I'll sit here and let the ads play because I
- 54:09Speaker 4: want them to know that I am watching this shit.
- 54:11Speaker 5: Yeah, vote with your dollar or your attention, which is
- 54:13Speaker 5: also a dollar.
- 54:14Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, said Alan.
- 54:17Speaker 5: We now return you to Home release or exchange crosswords
- 54:19Speaker 5: already in progress.
- 54:20Speaker 4: We get the montage of Lisa winning and she thinks
- 54:22Speaker 4: she can actually win this one, and it gets Loney,
- 54:24Speaker 4: when you win, I win, I'll explain it on your deathbed.
- 54:27Speaker 4: What does that mean?
- 54:28Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:29Speaker 4: When you win, I win, I'll explain it on your deathbed,
- 54:33Speaker 4: says to Lisa. There I thought I'm lost there. Maybe
- 54:35Speaker 4: I'm misunderstanding something I don't know.
- 54:37Speaker 5: But no, I don't get it either.
- 54:38Speaker 4: But she says that she always sabotaged, sabotages her happiness
- 54:41Speaker 4: when she thinks shes going to succeed. And I was like,
- 54:43Speaker 4: you know what, I think I've related to Lisa anymore
- 54:45Speaker 4: than this moment. Just when you think you're about to
- 54:47Speaker 4: succeed in something, you're sabotaged yourself because you're you're afraid
- 54:49Speaker 4: to succeed.
- 54:50Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Oh no, I've been self sabotaged. I've been
- 54:52Speaker 5: self sabotaged. Maybe it's just why do we do it?
- 54:56Speaker 5: Why do we do it?
- 54:57Speaker 4: And Home is worried by this mentality.
- 54:59Speaker 5: This is where we give a big shout out to
- 55:02Speaker 5: well not a shout out, a plea to our listeners
- 55:06Speaker 5: and patrons. Everyone listening to the shouts like every once
- 55:09Speaker 5: in a while. I mean you were always saying, hey,
- 55:10Speaker 5: give us a few five hour reviews to get out
- 55:12Speaker 5: of them. Just tell us I don't want to sound needy.
- 55:15Speaker 5: I am needy. Give me some validation if I'm doing this, well,
- 55:20Speaker 5: let me.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Know mail Bag at four figure Discount dot com dot au.
- 55:24Speaker 5: Or any of our social media channels. Just get on
- 55:27Speaker 5: board and say, hey, you know who's good, Guy Davis

- 55:44Speaker 5: These things are actually plugged in and we're putting words
- 55:47Speaker 5: out and people are hearing it. People are hearing it
- 55:49Speaker 5: and hopefully enjoying it. Sorry, that's the need is done
- 55:54Speaker 5: for now. Now we now return you to Guy and
- 55:57Speaker 5: Dando's Sorry Dan on guys self confidence already in progress.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Homer is worried about Lisa here, so he thinks he's
- 56:03Speaker 4: going to gamble. He does he gambles everything against Lisa
- 56:06Speaker 4: this time, which makes sense to me.
- 56:08Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, Emotionally it's it's terrible.
- 56:12Speaker 4: The Bookie togically is great the book He takes his money,
- 56:14Speaker 4: but he won't look him in the eye, and won
- 56:15Speaker 4: look him in the eye, and he give it to him.
- 56:17Speaker 4: So then we get there. Here's some tribute to the Boyds.
- 56:19Speaker 4: I've been removed from the dictionary. I just thought that
- 56:21Speaker 4: was funny. I just really like that. And then gil
- 56:23Speaker 4: Met because there's always that one person who they say
- 56:25Speaker 4: to the end, who gets the big applause. That was
- 56:28Speaker 4: a hood and nanny here, yeah, yeah, yeah, And there's
- 56:30Speaker 4: always the biggert start saved for the.
- 56:32Speaker 5: End, okay, because you know we're going to have the
- 56:34Speaker 5: Oscars are coming up eventually. I mean we could have
- 56:36Speaker 5: this in any context, any sort of award centerm Yeah,
- 56:39Speaker 5: but I mean I'm thinking of the Oscars AND's what's
- 56:41Speaker 5: doing here. There's always the memoriam and yeah, you're right,
- 56:45Speaker 5: I mean they'll they're usually start them all the way through.
- 56:48Speaker 5: It's like, oh, here's a big name. Yeah, there's Robin Williams. Yeah,
- 56:53Speaker 5: and it usually closes out with something. Yeah. I'm wondering
- 56:55Speaker 5: will because we've lost a few big names recently entertainment.
- 57:00Speaker 5: Which which actor I'll wager that the late David Lynch
- 57:04Speaker 5: of Twin Peaks, and he'll be he'll he'll be definitely
- 57:07Speaker 5: out there.
- 57:08Speaker 4: Which actors passed away twenty twenty four, he was so
- 57:11Speaker 4: Maggie Smith, fucking James L.
- 57:13Speaker 5: Jones.
- 57:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Chris Christopherson passed away.
- 57:16Speaker 5: Yeah, oh shit, I did not know that. Sad news.
- 57:20Speaker 5: That guy's a legend.
- 57:22Speaker 4: Quincy Jones, Shannon Dowdy, she'll be up there probably she
- 57:25Speaker 4: want me more the Emmys.
- 57:26Speaker 5: She wasn't. Yeah. Richard Simmons, I did know. Richard Simmons
- 57:30Speaker 5: passed away.
- 57:31Speaker 4: Bob Newhart, oh, Donald Sutherland, Oh yeah, oh man. We
- 57:36Speaker 4: lost a lot of people last year. Carl weathers half.
- 57:39Speaker 5: Beat the Generation X.
- 57:41Speaker 4: I feel like they're going to have probably James L.
- 57:43Speaker 4: Jones last year, reckon who's the Lynch is pretty recent?
- 57:48Speaker 4: Maggie Smith maybe is, yeah, but James Jones is fucking
- 57:52Speaker 4: James or Donald Sutherland. Yeah, but James Jones, he's Darth
- 57:56Speaker 4: Vader mate, and he's faster, He's faster, yeah, And he's
- 57:59Speaker 4: the old man in the handlock.
- 58:00Speaker 5: Kids everybody's got this something when it comes to down
- 58:04Speaker 5: this is and it's true. Also your Stolso Doom the
- 58:09Speaker 5: enemy of Conan, the barbarian? Is he?
- 58:11Speaker 4: There we go. I've never seen Conan, dude, I'm fucking
- 58:16Speaker 4: not ancient.
- 58:21Speaker 5: Take a little time. Who watches Conan anymore? People with
- 58:24Speaker 5: great taste who enjoy I'm just staring a deep and
- 58:29Speaker 5: rollicking romp. It's on Disney Plus, just what.
- 58:32Speaker 4: I have lined up for today, by the way, besides
- 58:33Speaker 4: the bear A movie I'm watching tonight. Finally, I bought
- 58:37Speaker 4: it on four K just for you, Mad Max two.
- 58:42Speaker 4: Your response, but I said I hadn't watched it, you
- 58:43Speaker 4: nearly fell out of your chair.
- 58:44Speaker 5: That's right.
- 58:45Speaker 4: And it's not because this share was faulty because audio
- 58:49Speaker 4: face was genuinely confused, angered, baffled.
- 58:53Speaker 5: I was. I was the smallest board of emotions that
- 58:56Speaker 5: But you're probably going to message me about you know,
- 59:00Speaker 5: ten thirty or so, depending on whenever you watch it.
- 59:04Speaker 5: You'll be like I was blind, But now I.
- 59:06Speaker 4: See, well, the last time that happened was Deep Rising,
- 59:08Speaker 4: and that works out for very good.
- 59:10Speaker 5: That's right. I've watched it twice since.
- 59:14Speaker 4: And Nicholas going to the UK next week, and shit's
- 59:17Speaker 4: cheaper in the UK than it is here because things
- 59:19Speaker 4: were released over there, right and they weren't released here.
- 59:21Speaker 4: I got deep rising at the regional one version of it,
- 59:24Speaker 4: but someone was selling in the UK. I've got for
- 59:25Speaker 4: fourteen dollars. Oh my gosh, blue ray.
- 59:27Speaker 5: What do you means she's picking it up for you
- 59:30Speaker 5: over there? Or which is over there?
- 59:31Speaker 4: So I'm getting sent to her Muma's place. So, Nicholas,
- 59:33Speaker 4: this week's just like getting all these blue rays.
- 59:36Speaker 5: We should word and me up about this. I gotten
- 59:39Speaker 5: on board that train.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Oh well, too bad too, Sadles.
- 59:45Speaker 5: Look really gleeful at that.
- 59:47Speaker 4: You can pick a couple of movies as long as
- 59:48Speaker 4: they're just like blue rays.
- 59:49Speaker 5: Okay.
- 59:49Speaker 4: I remember I said about once my friend from America,
- 59:52Speaker 4: and you're like, does he bring back books hardcover in particular,
- 59:56Speaker 4: And you were like no. He was like, no, I'll
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: bring back like lighte shits, but not books because there's
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: just too much weight.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: I wasn't gonna.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: I'm joking, I know, but he's fighting because he always
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: has spa space. Nicola, I've told you about what she
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: when she packs for ship, she's gone by herself. For
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: two weeks. She'll pack, She'll pack too much, I said.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: I said to her, you're gonna leave at least five
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: kilos aside from me. She was like, oh, I might, Nicoli,
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: going for fucking two weeks, let's go it.
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: This was Fune Lose some felixes off on a on
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: a music camp a couple of days before he goes
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: back to school, and we're searching around for bags for him,
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: you know, to take his stuff in while he's away
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: for a couple of days. And we found like a
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: little Duffel bag and go, yeah, I think this is
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: running thing. I think that's right. Lose looking at it
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: and go, that's not nearly going to be big enough.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: And the dudes are looking at you. There's plenty. There's
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: so much wrong because.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: We went away on the holiday weekend the other day, right,
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: and Nicholas like, you haven't packed it, I said, Nichola.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Three shirts, four pairs of undies, a couple of pairs
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: of socks, pair of thongs. I'm set, that's all she's got.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Fucking get some dresses and fucking this, and I don't
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: know when we go out to dinner, might wear this
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: and might wear that. I'm like, Nicola, just pick something
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: one doesn't want to be, you know, gender stereotyping or
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: anything like that. But yeah, dudes tend to pack light.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: I think most guys do. Yeah. Yeah, because I've just
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: and we rarely regret it. We regret that we haven't
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: brought the phone charge or something. Mate. Yeah, It's not
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: something like oh I wish I brought this is like,
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: oh I forgot that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: I said to Nicola. And you know what if we guess.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: If we guess and I haven't got a shirt that
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: I want to wear, I'll just fucking buy one.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: And buy any shirt.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: It's so hard.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: It's not that difficult. I need space for those blue rays. Baby.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: It's one of the things I always think of when
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: family coming over here. We're going now, I'm like, all right,
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: what can I buy from said country to bring it
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: back free?
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: Yeah? Oh god. The first the first time I went
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: to La on a business trip, I was like, jeans,
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: wasn't it? I think that was partly it. But it
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: was also there was a record store. I know it's
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: still there, Amba records on on on sunset Amiba. Yeah, okay,
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: look it up big, but probably was there until two
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: weeks ago. Oh gosh, big ars warehouse of a players,
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: multi level, the.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: World's largest independent rocket records store.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like, well, I wasn't really into the sort
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: of records. I mean I would have got some.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Music, but I was like, they've got a huge DVD section.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Oh yeah, back when that was awesome.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: And and also this was when you were, yeah, you
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: wanted to get I mean I think, yeah, I think
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: I actually did buy like a couple of big ass
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: box sets of CDs. It's like, yeah, I could probably
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: get this on this thing called Amazon, but oh no,
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: just get them.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: I'm just looking it up here. Amba Music, Hollywood's incredible
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: record store.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: It's fucking massive. Look at the size of this place.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Honestly walked in and felt like, holy shit, yeah, good
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: job I've got the one, and said they just look
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: at that. Look at the size of the place. I've
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: been there, dude, that's crazy. Man. Go one in San
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: Francisco as well. And when lou and I were there,
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: not last year, but the year before, everyone was like, oh,
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: we're going to visit these things. I'm like, can we
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: go to me but please? And both Louke and Clay
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: were like it was pretty good shop.
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: Well, it's like when we went to Las Vegas. This
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: is on our honeymoon, and we met friends there over
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: there as well, and they go to Vegas like every
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: second year. That's that's their thing. And I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: we're gonna do this casino, that casino. We're gonna go
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: have dinnery here, We're gonna I was like, can I
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: be guilty the Pinball Hall of Fame? And they're like,
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: all right, we'll sneak it in. We get there. Everyone
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: had a fucking ball. My mate was like, I think
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: did not realize how fun pimball was gonna be. I'm like, mate, pimball, Pimball's.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: All right? Shall I say to the line, or well,
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: just get back to it. Uh do one more time?
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: All right, we now return you to Sorry, we now
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: returning you to Homer Lisa exchange cross words already in progress.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: So he's gambled against her and he's taking his money
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: bah blah blah. But get the tributes, Gil mentions here.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: So she she's got up against Gill in the Grand Final.
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: Now I did notice that Sunderland was in the background
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: on the leader but and I thought.
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: Oh, good for Gilly.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: He's getting up there, and I went, oh, she's actually
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: going against Gil. So he mentions here that my wife
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Shirley passed away a couple of years ago. Has she
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: actually passed away? Didn't actually clarify that no one knows anything,
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: because didn't he want Shirley to take him back in
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: like last time we saw him or something that's anyway
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: with Gil law.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Let's see, I'll spread some cues around that'll get my
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: brain going.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Now I dropped my glasses.
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: Oh Shirley, baby, I let you down. Hey, there are
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: no lenses in these glasses.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: That's Enrico Fermi.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: And there you got the pet shop boys across the T.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: And Jing the g and Skit Scots totally.
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: I'm all the way home. Lisa got hustled. The hustler.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: What a hustler. I thought, good for him. Wow, Old's
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: fair and love and crossword, Yeah, yeah, I love. It's
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: the boggle thing, right, a good heel in a sports movie.
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: And here Gil being the heel in a sports themed
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: episode of The Sins. I could be all for that. Yeah,
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: you'll be looking forward to having Gilmore too coming soon,
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: because should mcgevan's in it.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: The problem is, I don't think I'm going to like it, okay,
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: because can you recall when's the last time we did
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: a Hey, remember that thing you love when you're a kid.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: We're making a new version of it now being any good?
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: I guess top Gun, Maverick maybe, Yeah, okay, I agree
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: with that, But there are also many examples of like
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: that didn't work. Yeah.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: I don't know, so I didn't have the emotional connection
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: to top Gun that like you probably top Gun? Yeah,
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: but people did you know what I mean? Maybe because
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: you didn't like top Gun you liked Maverick. Maybe that's it.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: That's possible, But I don't know. I just no car Weathers,
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: no chub.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: But we like a good heel.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: Oh should we have one of the greatest heels of
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: what kind of he? Would you a smarmy heel? What
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: would you call him?
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Shit hitting heel? But no, Gil, he gets a rare win.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: But he also, yeah, gets it by means that you
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: wouldn't necessarily expect from Gillie. You think he's just kind
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: of plodding along and a low blow when the rest
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: is not looking. That's true.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Yeah, but Lisa, obviously Lisa's here which means home. It
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: wins lots of money, and Lisa notices all the new
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: things at home. It's gotten new shoelacers with metal ends,
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: highlights in his hair, a new car, antenna that straightened out,
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: and a diamond on top. And he explains, well, this
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: is what happened. I used my winnings better against you
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: because you said you were gonna lose. You lost like
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: you said you were going to, and now I have
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: all this extra money. Is Lisa's reaction here. Her reaction
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: are going. It's coming to terms of the fact that
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: I can't believe he did that, even though it was
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: probably the right thing to do. It's anger, but also
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: a realization of Look at it from Lisa's point of view,
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: it speaks to a great not even a lack of faith.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: I mean, you would expect that your parents would go.
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: I know you don't believe in it, but I believe
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: that's true. Yeah, And to have that sort of ripped. Oh,
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: all my preconceived notions about myself as a elf sabotaging failure, shit,
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: they're real, even though the people who are meant to
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: build me up are following is following this, Okay, I'm
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: on this path. Now I can relate to this. Right.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: So recently Eliots just started playing the Saga mass Assistant, right,
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: I said Sega, not Sega, Sega as it's supposed to
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: be said. Apparently I've always said Sega my whole life.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: Apparently that's wrong, but it's spelled sea. Yeah, but Sega.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: So the sonic one, right, And he could only you
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: could barely even get past the first level. And he
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: always says, I can't do it, I can't do it,
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: and I just keep saying to him, look, dude, you
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: can do it. And if you can't, if you die,
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: you just got back to the start, and you practice again,
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: practice again.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: You can do this.
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: And now he's eventually gets to the second level and
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: eventually he got to the third leve and he has
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: to take on doctor Robotnik, the villain, and he did
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: it by himself. I'll never forget. I had to go
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: to the toilet. I was sitting on a tour here. Yes,
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: my dad, I didn't die, Yes, And I was like,
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: he's so proud of himself, and it was just just
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: you just gotta keep trying, mate.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: That's me every morning when I wake up.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: When you actually succesfully take a shit, I didn't I
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: didn't die. Four figure discount is brought to you by

- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Forgive me if I have told the story more than
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: once involving guys, good pal Will Smith. But yes, the
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: bricks no no different one entirely. He came out he
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: was playing Muhammad Ali in the movie Ale, and he
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: was talking about getting in training for it, getting into
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: becoming Muhammad Ali. He said, I'm clumsy, I'm wasn't I
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: wasn't built, I wasn't I didn't have muscles or anything
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: like that. But I'm a math nerd. I believe in numbers,
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: and I believe if I do this every day, I'll
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: get exponentially better. You know, you just have to keep
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: at it. But you know, if you keep doing the
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: same thing every day, you'll get better and better. And
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: you know, eventually he bogged up. I mean you get bigger,
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: you mean oh not yeah, but also just better and
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: like I don't know how to box, I'll trip my
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: my own feet. But you know, you just do a
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: little bit every day. You just keep working every day,
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: and you will actually get better. I mean it's not
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: just like it's not even an expression of faith. It's
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: just like, no, it's just science.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Editors sitting there going, motherfucker. You couldn't do shit I
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: edited you to make.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: It was a good story. It was what I led
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: with the article. It was one of the best hours
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: I ever wrote.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: When he tells that story, then it cuts to best
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: editing at the Oscars, we have the door, Holly, do
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: want to come and say hello? Holly has entered the building.

- 1:10:14Speaker 4: pretty sick, haven't you, incentainly haven't you?
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: You must sit on here all right, now quickly sit there?
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: All right, let's be.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Real quick, okay, because daddy's got a show to do.
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: But you tell the good guy what happened to get
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: your tonsils out?
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, what stickers did you put on your tonsils?
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: On your mask? Winnie Winnie the poop? Yeah?
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: And tiger too, Yeah, tiger too. You really like that,
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: didn't you. She had much better experience with the actual
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: going to sleep than alliot did. He wasn't pinned down
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: like a psycho. Oh, Jet's coming as well. All right,
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: hold start, you might have to let go of you. Okay,
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: Well now, Holly, do you want to say hi everyone?
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: Before you go?
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: Say hi everybody? You actually speak sweetart. They can't hear
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: you say hi?
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: Now?

- 1:11:08Speaker 5: All right, it was one of those high five funker guy.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh you're so strong.
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: They're wrong.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: The hospital must have given you superpowers. Jets come for
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: a kiss as well. Oh my goodness, it's all happening.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: All right, Well, say bye bye everybody.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: Everybody wants a piece of guy they see.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Well then she Holly's now gone, a
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: daughter who somewhat loves her daddy compared to Lisa, who
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: no longer loves her Daddy's to the point where she's
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: changed her last name, which I thought was pretty extreme
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: for some of for an eight year old to do.
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: It's one of those examples where you.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: Are but then you know you're dealing a little an eight
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: year old who they're not necessarily got the best.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: It just seems emotion insane. This is one of the
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: things where your dad's mistreated you for your whole life
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: and isn't in your life anymore. You want to change
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: your last name, He better against you in a fucking
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: crossroad puzzle. That's tournament, you.
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: Know what I mean. Just seems like the inciting incident.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: You have go for do this story by all means,
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: but the inciting incident just seems This seems like a
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: real leap. I was changing my last name to Bovier.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: It strikes me as the kind of dramatic thing that
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: a child would do.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but how would she even know how to do it?
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: Just know she went down to the she went back
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: to the licenses offices.
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: She must have. Yeah, I don't know if she did.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: I mean I think she was just saying no.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: By principle, just by principle. She's referring to herself as
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: but yeah, something she's not legally changed.
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: No, she's just crossing it off her textbooks and now
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: putting in the new name. Yeah, or saying to call
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: me Lisa B. Now as Nelson does.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: So Moe then us or most says to do something
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: nice to win her back, you know what I mean.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: She might not change her name, but she'll still love
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: you and refer to you as her dad. Nobody gives
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: better parenting advice than childless trunks. So now Lisa's on
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: the couch watching TV, I'm assuming, or she's sitting on
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: the couch. She's wearing her Lisa B. T shirt and
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Marsha just doing the New York Times puzzle. They never
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: explain whether margin was in on this. That's true, was
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: margin on it? I don't think so?
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: Oh? Actually no, actually I think have they name checked
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: the New York Times crossword puzzle in this episode before,
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: so they I.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Think maybe maybe I'm not too sure. But anyway, just
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: the I lost my innocence, medicines died in the founder
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: and forty one little boxes blah blah blah, and Marchess,
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: I don't think you can do it. I might take
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: you a few hours. Forty three minutes later, she said
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: she takes a fence to that.
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: I get the feeling is March is definitely on this.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: She has to be, said, They don't explain that those
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: or I'm saying, yeah, she must be. But then she
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: realized this dumb Dad's sorry for his bet and wonders
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: if planted it. She goes to ask him, and Will
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: Shortz and mill Regal are just hanging out in the
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: living room.
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: Well, it must have met. I'm kind of touched. Dumb dad,
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: sorry for his bed. Nice.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: You didn't get Homer's whole message, Lisa. I didn't take
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: a look at the first letters of all the clues.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Dear Lisa, you make me so happy, really really really happy.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: Sorry he told me I needed one hundred and forty
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: four letters. What was my point again? All right? Movie
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: or Jimpson? I cherish you.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: Cherish?
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Have you ever watched the little rascals. I know that
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: I've never seen it because I never seen it. Okay,
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: we won't get to ject there. It's just basically Alfalfu's
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: letter to dear Darla, I hate your stinking guts. The
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: way he's reading it here, the kids think it's peak comedy. Anyway,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: people who ever saw the movie or have kids who've
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: seen the movie will understand exactly what I'm saying here.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: And then it says Bouvier or Simpson, I will always
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: choise you when we play the song. It's emotional, everyone's happy.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: A bit of rollercoast of this episode. Really sweet ending.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: I feel like we've said a time and Tom again
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: sticked landing of hav An emotional ending. It seems to
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: make you think the episode is better than what it was.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: The episode had a really good story here. There was
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: just lots of randomness of stroning that just felt unnecessary,
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: really cruel or just I don't know, hors saying he
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: hated his life and that kind of stuff.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: You know, it was very up and down when it
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: came to Homer certainly. Yeah, there was a lot of
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: stuff in there that was the act in particular. It's
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: like this guy. Yeah, and even though he did sort
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: of pull back at the end, and it was, as
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: you said, a happy ending and a satisfying ending. You're right.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: You get those last get that last minute right, or
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: even those last thirty seconds or wherever. It's like, walk out
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: with a warm, fuzzy feeling. They went back over this.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: It was like this is yeah, you're right, kind of
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: all over the shop.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: They are relying a lot more on music to to
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: create the emotion, for sure. Yeah, because sure this ending
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: was nice and sweet, but if it doesn't have that
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: song playing over the end, don't think you're really quite
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: not quite hit.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: It's an it's a nice bit of chocolate syrup on
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: top of your Sunday.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: They have been doing this forever. When it comes to mind,
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: is Saturday's a thunder where Homer and Bart embrace at
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: the end and it's I think it's like on the
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: jumbo tron and it's playing what song is it playing?
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: It is playing a song? Can't of it?
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: It's like a song about it, like that's my dad
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: or something.
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I think my STA's during the episode, but there's
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: a song You're just like, ah, it's just so sweet.
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: And then Marge and Homer on the bike singing rain
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: drops are falling on my head. Like when you're an
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: adult watching it, you're just like, shit, we're gonna cry,
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So they do do that,
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: but I just felt they were lying a lot more
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: heavily on commercial songs and not just the music score
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: of to tell their story. But all in all, Homer
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: on liast to exchange crosswords much better than dangerous curves.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: I give it that.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I mean, it's a very season twenty episode of The Simpsons.
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: It is, but it's not something that offended me. It's
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: just sort of had his moments had as good, had
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: it as pretty good.
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: It's okay, and guys writing it's not bad. What do
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: we learn Bomber? So what did you learn from this episode? Dando?
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: How did that feel? Surprisingly good? Yeah?
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm giving you more control, letting you do things,
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: more authority, more incentive, just to just take controls, to
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: just grab me and just do it.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: That sounds like an hr I lent. You cannot trust
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: Will Gerson, I know, what an absolute hustler. We always
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: thought that he was just this hit sandwich, This is
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: this weak link, this pushover.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: No I love a good he'll turn love it.
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: Well, prepare for mine. It's coming. Yeah, okay, it's been
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: a long time in the may game. But when it happens,
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: mask off. You're the person who bought our domain, are you?
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: Don't worry? I own the domain. I don't know what
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: he means. I know what he means. You learn? What
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: did I learn? Don't order a ham sandwich at Mo's.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: You know what going to be dirty.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: It's going to be dirty. Indeed, yeah, good, just mo
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: pretty much.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: He will change. He'll change his domain name at the
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: drop of the hat. He will.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Yes, he'll He'll steal yours.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: He will steal it. Yeah, he'll rebrand from this knee forward,
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: your name will be all right.
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: It is time for the return of the Guy Davis
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: New Name Championship here for season twenty the first one
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: of twenty twenty five. I had a long time coming.
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: He forgot about this thing. Guys like, we're going to
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: new names? I said, yes, we are.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: So.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Guy has posted in the Patreon group asking for your
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: new names. And we've got a lot of great names
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: this week, didn't.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: We did. I tried taking more control and Dannis Libman, Yeah,
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: of course, then he slapped me stop trying to take control.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: So the currently we've got a lot of great nonme
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: currently says is in first position we have Jared Hornby,
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: in second position Kyle Mule doing clever Kyle, and Phil Hawkins,
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: and in third position we've got Brian Hughes and David
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: Mott take it away. So I can just hear Phil
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: Hawkins like doing the guy Davis rubbing his hands and
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: you're like, twenty twenty five, it's my year climbing back
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: up reclaiming that gets the Martian goes that too hard.
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: We'll see how, We'll see how everyone goes. Because the
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: first point goes to rumble in the Jumble. I love
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: that name.
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: That is a great name that comes from Heath Appleby.
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: That's Heath's first points for the season. Weld on Heath,
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: How do you like them Applebee's and we do? You
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: have to read that as axel though the jamber, So
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: it was rumbling in the jumble, or you don't it's
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: welcome to the jungle. No, no, no that, But is
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: that rumble to the germ? I know that stuff the
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: guns and Roses names.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: Well, I'm beout to say you were so you know authoritative,
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: isn't that well, actually, no, you weren't Thorwy. That was
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: like that, isn't that the actual song? Isn't the Guns
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: and Roses song? Rumble to the Jumper?
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: I was asking you, isn't that what the new name was?
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: Rumbling the jumble?
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: Do you want to do this all over again? No? No, no,
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: that was rumble in the jumble. It is rumble in
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: the jumble exactly. Yeah. I was making sure it wasn't
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: jungle one point the jamber two points? Can we just
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: do let's keep doing that for a little while rumba.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: And you said, and at first you didn't want to
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: do it. Now that's all you want to do.
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: That's all I want to jumper, Rumbling the jumper two points.
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: I like this one a lot.
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: One down to r cross to are cross as in
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: are cross, Yeah, which would be Homer and listen at
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: least's cross Harmerson Cross.
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: Who's the other cross? Only one was crossed? I don't
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: know the word player.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Honestly, Bart and Lisa were crossed it there and the
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: lemonade stand went down.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: There we go. You saved it. I was about to say,
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: across Wood is not a jumble.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: No, so Phil Hawkins two points there, phil two points.
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: Didn't I didn't even know.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Wait a minute, that it's now Philip Jay Hawkins again
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: is on top. He's equal first, Philip J. Hawkins, Philip J.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: Haw It's back. I say the line a lot. I've
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: got a few lines and I say a lot, but
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: one of it is the guy Davis new Yon Championship
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: is done blind. I did not know who was going
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: to get the names. So with the Phil Hawkins mentioned
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: at the very start of this, I didn't know that
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: he was going to become Philip J. Hawkins again. I
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: didn't know who was going to ascend become himself. Opposite
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: of a hilt is a baby face? What a comeback?
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: What a comeback?
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: It's like in nineteen ninety nine where the Vincent Man's
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: crew beaten down the good guys and all of a
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: sudden clash as Stone call Steve Buston comes out. He's back, baby,
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: that's Philip Jay Hawkins comes out and he beats up.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: The bad guys. I recognize maybe five of those words. Hey, Bi,
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: let's see what happens, because you got that J back.
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: But we might be just yanking it right off here
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: because I'm about to say that this new name got
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: three points. It is clues Blues. Clues Blues is also
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: very great. It's quite good. So bad I praise from
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: guy David. So bad?
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Can you say like this clues blues clues blues.
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: Let's see, I mean I was an adult when blues
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: and child. Also, I was a groom nap and had
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: no children, so I never I was aware of blues?
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: Is there a b there? Am I thinking Blue? The
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: bear in the Big Blue House? You thinking of a
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: bear in the Big Blue House? Blues Clues Blues?
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: Blue was a dog, right, And I had Steve, the
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: guy in the green striped shirt who did this a
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: beautiful video of a couple of years ago during the
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: COVID yeah saying you know what, I just disappeared from
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: the show because I went and did university and literally
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: what happened. As a kid, You watch the show and
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: all of a sudden, go, we're Steve, I got no
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: clue Blue, tell me please, And then he sort of
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: did the Hey, I'm still good and they we're all
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: growing up now. Just to get just to let you
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: know that you're going to get there. Basically, the real
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: positive message that was great, So check that out on
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: social media.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: Just type Steve and Blues Clues. Yeah, return me and
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: Steve both grown ups. I feel it.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Blues Clues was writing the demo for my sister's age
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: group when she was about I know, eight or six
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: or five, seven or whatever. I was a little bit
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: too old, but it was still a show where you went, eh,
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: I'm enjoying this. It wasn't too kitty where you couldn't
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: enjoy it as like a eleven year old or twelve
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: year old?
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: Is it a kin to say Blue? That is four children?
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: Now? Blue is very much a show that you're going
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: to watch with your mum and dad. So parents are
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: going to sit there and watch the Blues Clues all day.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: Parents could sit there and watch Blue and genuinely enjoy
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: it because you've got the parents. You can watch from
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: the parents' perspective. So Blue is very much I say
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: say this all the time. Blue is for me, the
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: modern day version of not quite popularity wise and overall
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: quality wise, but it's like a modern day Simpsons. It's
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: the show that you can put on that kids absolutely love.
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: It's absolutely the biggest show in the world. But parents
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: can love it just as much as.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: Well, makes sense? Yeah okay, but yeah, let me try.
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: That was Brian, That was Brian Hughes, by the way,
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: three points, but now put the ego first as well.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: We've got a freeway. Everybody likes a good three way.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, especially yeah, especially people in the three way.
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: So Brian Hughes, Philip Jay Hawkins.
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: And yeah, well what's what's easy Brian?
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: He Hughsy the only quote unquote celebrity who on I'm
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: a celebrity, get me out of here this year? Is
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: that show still going? That show is still going. It's
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: just relaunched, is.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: After one the Geelong cast players on Zach Took.
- 1:23:53Speaker 5: Exactly, he's on it.
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: Please is a celebrity, He's.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: No Tom Hawkins. But yeah he easy on it. Oh
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: you did great from a celebrity to give me any sorry,
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: you can get rid of all that. No, I'm saying
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: in oh no, I've made an enemy in Hughes. But
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: where Brian Hughes from? Is he Australian?
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: Brian Hughes, I believe he's from the States. Okay, big
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: fan of I believe, a big fan of the Sapar podcast.
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: Well, he's clearly a man of taste.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: I'm going to go on Brian his profile and find
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: out I'm going to stalk him because because he's from
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Boston in the USA, oh fantastic, or even attorney at laws,
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: he actually atturney.
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: He's pushing for. He's pushing for a bad trial thing. Anyway, Brian,
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: when we when we call you he'sy, we mean it
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: as a as a token of great respect. Yes, just
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: as we do when we say Philip Jay Hawkins and
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: his name.
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: Clever car was closet behind on four points and David
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: Mott in what's Moddi's Scotty too money? That's a wrestling reference. Okay,
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: Scotty too money was a wrestler.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: Scotty Scotty too money. What's Mott? What's creek?
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: Anyway, we'll get when you think on first position, he
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: gets a new name, says, think when you're in the
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: top of the leader board, that's when you get your
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: own name.
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: That's a good idea. Yeah. Anyway, what was fun? We
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: had a good time. We had a good time. Yeah,
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: it was okay, one bad.
