- 0:00Speaker 1: That's some fun talking some baseball, some hockey. But I
- 0:03Speaker 1: gotta be honest with you, mister kid, I am super
- 0:06Speaker 1: excited for tonight and the NBA Finals. And look, I
- 0:10Speaker 1: totally get anybody who is NBA tuned out until the
- 0:13Speaker 1: team comes back, totally get it, respect it, disagree. This
- 0:18Speaker 1: is the most excited I've been for a Finals in
- 0:20Speaker 1: a long time, and I think some of that has
- 0:22Speaker 1: to be has to do, excuse me, with the juxtaposition
- 0:25Speaker 1: of where we were last year, where it was Oklahoma
- 0:28Speaker 1: City yuck against Indiana boring. Like, all due respect to
- 0:33Speaker 1: Tyre's Halliburton, a really good player, and there are some
- 0:36Speaker 1: other guys on Indiana who are solid players as well,
- 0:39Speaker 1: but it wasn't a very exciting even with that series
- 0:42Speaker 1: going seven. I was not enthralled for that. In particular,
- 0:45Speaker 1: the dread that I had as someone who's first love
- 0:48Speaker 1: was the Seattle SuperSonics of Oklahoma City potentially winning a championship. Well,
- 0:54Speaker 1: not only do the Oklahoma City Thunder get knocked out
- 0:58Speaker 1: in just a thrilling seven game series, where I mean,
- 1:02Speaker 1: both those teams were so good, so good, but you
- 1:05Speaker 1: also have bing Bongs back the New York Knicks, who
- 1:08Speaker 1: have just been so unbelievably good in this postseason. Congrats
- 1:13Speaker 1: to the Atlanta Hawks is being the only team that
- 1:15Speaker 1: has really challenged the New York Knicks so far. Man,
- 1:19Speaker 1: I have just been enamored. I know it's only been
- 1:23Speaker 1: one game, but I have been looking forward to this
- 1:26Speaker 1: as a somewhat neutral party. I'll tell you who I'm
- 1:28Speaker 1: rooting forward to a second. I am just enthralled by
- 1:32Speaker 1: this NBA Finals Chris.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It has been I've enjoyed the NBA playoffs and this
- 1:39Speaker 2: finals matchup has been house money.
- 1:43Speaker 3: The Knicks were clearly the best.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Team in the East yep and they've shown it defensively. Offensively,
- 1:53Speaker 2: players are stepping up. Ojiannaobi has been playing through some injuries.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Karl Anthony Towns has been much much better, more consistent,
- 2:04Speaker 2: and I like that he is. He still takes and
- 2:06Speaker 2: shoots threes, but I like how he's become more of
- 2:09Speaker 2: a bully. He's not just first thought, oh let me
- 2:13Speaker 2: get this three ball. He's like, I'll start in the
- 2:16Speaker 2: paint and then make my way back once. I've seen
- 2:19Speaker 2: a few shots go through the net, and I think
- 2:20Speaker 2: that's the way you have to play, especially going up
- 2:22Speaker 2: against the Spurs, who are just as good defensively. They
- 2:25Speaker 2: also have a unicorn that happens to be seven to
- 2:27Speaker 2: four and can do everything that basically any guard can do.
- 2:32Speaker 2: He just happens to be very, very tall. And I
- 2:35Speaker 2: think tonight is just going to be another opportunity for
- 2:38Speaker 2: the Knicks to impose their will and the Spurs to
- 2:41Speaker 2: try to respond and do some things better that they
- 2:43Speaker 2: didn't do in Game one, which includes Victor being more aggressive.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I know he talked very confidently after losing Game one,
- 2:51Speaker 2: basically stating it's a mental thing for him and his guys.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Well everyone heard those words.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Now all eyes are on the Spurs and what the
- 2:59Speaker 2: coaching staff can do to make sure they go back
- 3:02Speaker 2: to New York with this thing tied and not down
- 3:05Speaker 2: two games.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean it is such a much such a
- 3:09Speaker 1: must win game for the Spurs for all the reasons
- 3:12Speaker 1: we talked about with you know, with the Stanley Cup
- 3:14Speaker 1: that you can't fall down two oh and go into
- 3:17Speaker 1: another team's home stadium. And I even if the Knicks
- 3:21Speaker 1: lose tonight, which I think they will, I'll give you
- 3:23Speaker 1: my prediction right now. I do think that the Spurs
- 3:25Speaker 1: will even this series tonight, Madison Square Garden is going
- 3:29Speaker 1: to be out of control. It's going to be absolutely bonkers.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I mean, they have not been to the finals since
- 3:35Speaker 1: ninety nine, and I'll be honest with you that it
- 3:40Speaker 1: isn't the same thing they were in eight seed playing
- 3:42Speaker 1: in a shortened season. This is the Knicks at their
- 3:47Speaker 1: absolutely the most excited sense. John Starks and Patrick Ewing
- 3:51Speaker 1: and those guys were lining up for him, and you
- 3:55Speaker 1: know it's gonna be phenomenal. I'll tell you what I
- 3:58Speaker 1: think the X factor is in this series. And I
- 4:02Speaker 1: don't know if the Spurs are going to be willing
- 4:04Speaker 1: to do it or not, but I think the X
- 4:08Speaker 1: factor in this series is Dylan Harper. And Dylan Harper
- 4:11Speaker 1: played out of his mind in Game one, despite not
- 4:15Speaker 1: getting as many minutes as I think he should have.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think he's got to start playing more than d
- 4:21Speaker 1: Aaron Fox. And I get it, Daron Fox is a
- 4:24Speaker 1: former All NBA player. He's only twenty eight years old,
- 4:27Speaker 1: so it's not like he's aged himself out of the league.
- 4:30Speaker 1: But I watch those two guys play right now, it's
- 4:34Speaker 1: very hard for me to say that Dylan Harper isn't
- 4:36Speaker 1: a better player than Daron Fox right now, and I
- 4:39Speaker 1: certainly think that he's a better player than Devin Vessel
- 4:42Speaker 1: what Viscelle gives them defensively being a little bit bigger
- 4:45Speaker 1: of a body. Not that Dylan Harper can't play defense,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but you need Devin Vassel in the lineup, I think
- 4:51Speaker 1: more than you need Daron Fox. If I was Mitch Johnson,
- 4:55Speaker 1: I would be switching their roles. I would be having
- 4:58Speaker 1: Daron Fox and that speed coming off the bench as
- 5:03Speaker 1: a twenty five to thirty minute guy. And I want
- 5:07Speaker 1: as much of the offense running through Dylan Harper and
- 5:10Speaker 1: that absolute freak of a human being victor of Winbin Yama.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I want that as much as possible. Now. I'm not
- 5:18Speaker 1: saying Dearon Fox can't contribute for all the reasons that
- 5:20Speaker 1: I brought up. He's a former All NBA player. He's
- 5:23Speaker 1: had some decent moments in the postseason, but the shot
- 5:26Speaker 1: isn't falling as much. He's not, I think a good
- 5:29Speaker 1: facilitator as Dylan Harper is. Right now. I think Dylan
- 5:33Speaker 1: Harper is the key to this series. Chris.
- 5:36Speaker 3: He very well could be.
- 5:38Speaker 2: That's an interesting thing that coach Mitch Johnson's gonna have
- 5:42Speaker 2: to look at and try to see, Okay, who gives
- 5:47Speaker 2: us the best chance to win.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You look at Devin, he was what I think he
- 5:53Speaker 2: was like a top ten pick lottery pick in twenty
- 5:56Speaker 2: twenty during.
- 5:56Speaker 1: COVID right around there.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So for one solid two way guard, I think he's
- 6:02Speaker 2: averaging probably around thirteen points per game, a couple rebounds,
- 6:06Speaker 2: but his role is deeper than he's He played really
- 6:10Speaker 2: well against Okac, who I thought I thought he was
- 6:12Speaker 2: gonna win that series, but he actually stepped up alongside
- 6:15Speaker 2: a couple other guys, including Dylan Harper, who is a
- 6:19Speaker 2: obviously a top NBA draft prospect coming out in twenty
- 6:22Speaker 2: twenty five. So there's no debate there. But I think
- 6:25Speaker 2: right now that's the better player. But long term, I
- 6:30Speaker 2: think that player Harper could ascend that role. Do you
- 6:34Speaker 2: want to test it in the playoffs? I would say
- 6:36Speaker 2: probably not tonight. I would say game three on the
- 6:39Speaker 2: road if you want to try to mix things up,
- 6:41Speaker 2: because you've already established it's a TI series, a tied series,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and now you have to go on the road and
- 6:45Speaker 2: win a game. So I think it'd be triggery to
- 6:47Speaker 2: do it tonight unless you are completely confident that Dylan
- 6:50Speaker 2: Harper would come out there and light it up far
- 6:53Speaker 2: better than Dessell has been and will be doing. That's
- 6:56Speaker 2: just one of those coaching decisions they have to make.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I would imagine they're not going to make any changes.
- 7:01Speaker 2: But I understand where you're coming from, Crawford in terms
- 7:04Speaker 2: of the fill of the game. How Dylan does it.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I mean, he was pretty damn good in Game one, Yes,
- 7:10Speaker 2: he was so again that was the proven player. I
- 7:13Speaker 2: think Harper has the upside. I don't know if you
- 7:16Speaker 2: want to toy with that right now. In the NBA Finals,
- 7:18Speaker 2: just because if we're being honest, if Victor winmbin Yama
- 7:21Speaker 2: plays better, I don't even think this matters. I think
- 7:24Speaker 2: they probably won that game just off of Victor having
- 7:27Speaker 2: a better night, not that he needs to score more,
- 7:31Speaker 2: just overall his impact on the game. He can change
- 7:34Speaker 2: it either side of the ball. So if he is
- 7:36Speaker 2: locked in, I don't even think it really matters who
- 7:39Speaker 2: you put out there. I just believe he elevates everyone
- 7:41Speaker 2: else's game.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That's a great point, And you know that's the thing
- 7:46Speaker 1: about Victor Webbin Yama that's impressed me so much too,
- 7:48Speaker 1: is because there was a lot of flak about how
- 7:51Speaker 1: he played in Game five of the Western Conference Finals,
- 7:54Speaker 1: that he didn't get the job done, that he maybe
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't want to say was soft in that game,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but maybe wasn't quite up for the challenge. And then
- 8:01Speaker 1: you saw what he did in Game six and Game seven. Well,
- 8:04Speaker 1: in this one he got bullied a little bit. And
- 8:06Speaker 1: credit to Karl Anthony Towns because not exactly known as
- 8:10Speaker 1: a guy who is considered a bully in the NBA. Uh,
- 8:14Speaker 1: if you hear Karl Anthony Towns speak, you certainly wouldn't
- 8:17Speaker 1: think that he would be one of those guys. But
- 8:20Speaker 1: he played his you know what off and I was
- 8:22Speaker 1: really impressed. And Jalen bruntson, Man, that guy is just clutch.
- 8:26Speaker 1: That is just a clutch, clutch basketball player. And man,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I do feel like these teams are super even. But
- 8:35Speaker 1: when you're super even, I'm still gonna go with the
- 8:37Speaker 1: seven foot five French guy who can do absolutely everything
- 8:41Speaker 1: on the court. And that's why I think the Spurs
- 8:43Speaker 1: ultimately win. But for me, the big thing here is
- 8:46Speaker 1: like Devin Vessel, like you mentioned, the role that he
- 8:48Speaker 1: plays it's Daron Fox that concerns me more because de
- 8:53Speaker 1: Aaron Fox has been a guy who is so used
- 8:56Speaker 1: to being ball dominant and being like either the first
- 9:00Speaker 1: option or the second option. I don't think Daron Fox
- 9:03Speaker 1: can be the first or second option right now. The
- 9:05Speaker 1: shots aren't falling enough and he's not creating enough separation there,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and I don't think he's going to with some of
- 9:11Speaker 1: the guys who were going to be like Josh Hart
- 9:13Speaker 1: is a really tough defensive player. You know that you
- 9:15Speaker 1: can switch guys like Ogannaobi, you can put some of
- 9:19Speaker 1: the bigger guys on him that make it a little
- 9:21Speaker 1: more difficult. Dylan Harper because of his build, because of
- 9:25Speaker 1: his ball skills, and because of the fact that like
- 9:29Speaker 1: he rebounds so well for a six or four guard.
- 9:32Speaker 1: By the way, I didn't realize until a couple of
- 9:35Speaker 1: weeks ago that he was Ron Harper's son. And now
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm like, how did I not know? That he is
- 9:39Speaker 1: a spitting image of his dad, a better player. Ron
- 9:44Speaker 1: Harper was a good little player for a little while.
- 9:45Speaker 1: He sacrificed a lot actually to go to the bulls.
- 9:48Speaker 1: But man, I'm just really curious to see how this
- 9:51Speaker 1: team is going to bounce back, because it seems like
- 9:56Speaker 1: every time teams have written off the Spurs, and it
- 9:58Speaker 1: hasn't been like a ti this postseason because they really
- 10:02Speaker 1: dominated the Blazers in their series. I never felt too
- 10:05Speaker 1: concerned about them against Minnesota, but you know, they did
- 10:09Speaker 1: lose a couple of games there, but there have been
- 10:11Speaker 1: a couple of oh, Oklahoma City, they figured this out.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And all San Antonio has done after they've said we
- 10:17Speaker 1: figured this out is is play some of their very,
- 10:20Speaker 1: very best basketball. So this is why if you were
- 10:24Speaker 1: going to ask who Chris Crawford is betting on, I
- 10:27Speaker 1: would bet on the Spurs, and I would probably bet
- 10:29Speaker 1: on the Spurs to win by eight to twelve points.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I just think, yes, the Knicks did a very nice job,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and I think the series is going to go seven games.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And maybe that's part of me going I really wanted
- 10:42Speaker 1: to go seven games, but part of it is also
- 10:45Speaker 1: me saying I think these teams are evenly matched enough,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and there is something about the camaraderie that clearly exists
- 10:54Speaker 1: with that Knicks basketball team, like clearly there. But I
- 10:58Speaker 1: do think that the San Antonio Spurs, if they played
- 11:00Speaker 1: an average game would have won that game by a
- 11:02Speaker 1: fairly convincing margin. In Game one too, Like, I think
- 11:06Speaker 1: the Spurs lost that game as much as the Knicks one.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, there's something too that also. Look at what I
- 11:11Speaker 2: think the Spurs don't have, and that's experience.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 11:15Speaker 2: The Knicks have guys that have been around the block.
- 11:19Speaker 2: They've lost some tough playoff matchups, and I think when
- 11:22Speaker 2: it comes down to it, the Spurs are just they're
- 11:24Speaker 2: so new to it. It reminds me of when OKC
- 11:27Speaker 2: got to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. They
- 11:30Speaker 2: had all the time in the world. They were just
- 11:32Speaker 2: so new and young, and the opportunity was there for them,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but they didn't understand it yet. They were in the
- 11:38Speaker 2: moment leaving it, but they just didn't have that veteran
- 11:42Speaker 2: that play. Like Nick Callison. Sure, he's like veteran, has
- 11:44Speaker 2: been around the league, but he ain't been to the
- 11:45Speaker 2: NBA Finals. He doesn't know what it takes. He could
- 11:48Speaker 2: talk to you all about how to win, but this
- 11:51Speaker 2: is a bigger stage. And you look at the Spurs like,
- 11:53Speaker 2: who was that guy, Oh, it's Luke Cornett, a guy
- 11:56Speaker 2: that played for the Boston Celtics won a championship by
- 11:59Speaker 2: the way against see he had a phenomenal chase down block,
- 12:02Speaker 2: So that might be one of their key cogs that
- 12:05Speaker 2: can hey rally them, especially down one. But I look
- 12:09Speaker 2: at the Knicks and they got multiple guys that have
- 12:11Speaker 2: been deep into a playoff run and I've come up short.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And this year with Mike Brown, someone that's lost NBA
- 12:18Speaker 2: Finals been to the NBA Finals as one one. If
- 12:20Speaker 2: I'm not mistaken, he knows about it too. So this
- 12:23Speaker 2: is an interesting matchup. There's no Greg Popovic, obviously, he's
- 12:26Speaker 2: more of a he's an outside source that he's still
- 12:30Speaker 2: a part of the team. He's just not coaching as
- 12:31Speaker 2: you guys are known, you guys know with with Mitch
- 12:34Speaker 2: Johnson taking over. But this is a really fun matchup
- 12:36Speaker 2: and I do think it will probably end up going
- 12:38Speaker 2: six to seven games. I just I think these are
- 12:40Speaker 2: two evenly matched teams. That's gonna come down to. I
- 12:43Speaker 2: think the best players stepping up and playing their best ball.
- 12:46Speaker 2: As you mentioned with Jaylen Brunton and Cornthony Towns. Okay, well,
- 12:50Speaker 2: the Spurs looking at Victor saying, hey, we need you
- 12:52Speaker 2: to play just a little bit better, sure, and that
- 12:55Speaker 2: can easily create a gap. But I think how the
- 12:58Speaker 2: Knicks are playing defense, man, that's it's gonna be tough.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They're playing physical, and the officials they are letting it go.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm a little more concerned about Kat because he picks
- 13:06Speaker 2: up dumb fouls. And what I mean by dumb fouls
- 13:08Speaker 2: is he might be in position and then he'll have
- 13:11Speaker 2: a brain fart and do something that takes him out
- 13:15Speaker 2: of defensive position, right, And he does that far too often,
- 13:17Speaker 2: which is why I think the Knicks said we're not
- 13:19Speaker 2: gonna have you guard Wimby in the first half because
- 13:21Speaker 2: we don't want you getting in foul trouble so quickly.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And then the second half you could take that responsibility.
- 13:26Speaker 2: If you guys, remember he picked up two quick fouls.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It was like bang bang, and you're thinking, okay, here
- 13:31Speaker 2: goes Cat. He might find himself with five fouls, and
- 13:34Speaker 2: you can't have that. Cat has to be available every
- 13:38Speaker 2: night because of what he brings, whether it's a defensive end,
- 13:41Speaker 2: whether offensively banging Winbiyama.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Because Wimby is skinny.
- 13:45Speaker 2: He's not a seven foot four built center, no, and
- 13:49Speaker 2: I don't think he needs that because His game is
- 13:52Speaker 2: predicated for allowing him to be able to have a handle,
- 13:55Speaker 2: be smooth with it. If he adds bulk, I think
- 13:57Speaker 2: that'll take away from his greatness. Just like Kevin Durant,
- 14:00Speaker 2: anybody wanted him to get all big and buff. You know,
- 14:03Speaker 2: it's worked out for Katie. It worked out just fine.
- 14:05Speaker 2: So I think Womby he can probably add some more strength.
- 14:09Speaker 2: He can become stronger, But I don't think he needs
- 14:10Speaker 2: to come out here and look like, I don't know,
- 14:13Speaker 2: another version.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Of Jonas Valentis. You don't want him to look like
- 14:19Speaker 1: I don't want him looking like Jannis Yep.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yes, and he's in phenomenal shape, but that's his game.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It's predicated for him to do that. Sure, you know,
- 14:28Speaker 2: just be strong and if I'm as strong, I think
- 14:30Speaker 2: they'll be fine.
- 14:30Speaker 1: It's so funny you bring up the Kevin Durant thing,
- 14:32Speaker 1: because I do remember people absolutely panicking because of Kevin
- 14:39Speaker 1: Durant not being able to do the bench press. The
- 14:43Speaker 1: It's just like, oh my gosh, how weak is this guy?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Getting weak?
- 14:46Speaker 1: All right? It helps when you're the greatest mid rag
- 14:49Speaker 1: shooter I've ever.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Seen, gets whatever he wants whenever he wants wherever he wants.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Slim Reaper doesn't need to bench press from the suburbs.
- 14:59Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 15:00Speaker 2: So for Victor, yes, I want him to be stronger, sure,
- 15:03Speaker 2: and be more aggressive, but those are things you can
- 15:05Speaker 2: work on. I don't want him putting on twenty pounds
- 15:07Speaker 2: of pure bulk, because that'll ruin his game.
- 15:09Speaker 3: No, it's just not in his cards.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I think he can just be a stronger player right,
- 15:14Speaker 2: develop in those areas and be like a Kevin Durant
- 15:17Speaker 2: who picks and just chooses where he wants to dominate games.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Absolutely, I mean you can he would. I think if
- 15:24Speaker 1: he did bulk up and became that traditional center, he'd
- 15:27Speaker 1: still be a great player, but it would take away
- 15:30Speaker 1: a lot of that unicorn of him, right, it would.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Take away I think it would just drastically change his game.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It changed too way too much.
- 15:36Speaker 2: But I don't know if that would help or hinder him.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I haven't seen someone like Kevin Durant, you know. Let
- 15:41Speaker 2: me had thirty pounds of pure muscle and he's still
- 15:43Speaker 2: the best score. Yes, I think it was a reason
- 15:45Speaker 2: why Kdie stuck to his plan, did it his way,
- 15:50Speaker 2: and he's I don't know, he might have gained weight.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I don't know, but he looks he looks slim and
- 15:54Speaker 2: looks just fine to me. So with that being said,
- 15:57Speaker 2: I don't want Victor to be like, you know what, Yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 2: should put on some muscle, like just become stronger. You
- 16:02Speaker 2: could still go in the gym and do those things
- 16:04Speaker 2: and build strength. You don't have to show it and
- 16:07Speaker 2: look like Jannatokumpo who was just ripped and he put
- 16:11Speaker 2: on muscle. He went from a skinny, yes, Greek hooper
- 16:15Speaker 2: to like, oh my gosh, Greek god.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah you play did him well? Yeah?
- 16:19Speaker 2: And it worked for his game because of how he
- 16:21Speaker 2: was able to get the bucket. And he's a transition
- 16:23Speaker 2: type player. Wimby's everywhere. Yeah, shoot it, you get into
- 16:27Speaker 2: the basket. He has a handle.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It's incredible.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Those are things that you're gonna miss when you get
- 16:31Speaker 3: Buff and Bolky.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It's so fun to watch. And I have to be honest,
- 16:34Speaker 1: he's the player. We talked about this a few weeks
- 16:36Speaker 1: ago when I was hosting for Greg that he is
- 16:38Speaker 1: the player I'm most looking forward to seeing come into
- 16:41Speaker 1: Seattle that we haven't had a chance to cut.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I was so I was like, oh, yeah, that does
- 16:46Speaker 2: make some By then Lebron we retired. I'm hoping Steph
- 16:50Speaker 2: isn't retired, but yeah, es Samlishly, I've already seen Steppe.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It'd be nice even Seattle, but yeah, I've seen greatness.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Dude is amazing. I just couldn't believe the shots he
- 16:58Speaker 2: was taken in that game against Atlanta Hall.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But he's just a phenomenal, phenomenal team.
- 17:03Speaker 3: He's basically running track out there.
- 17:04Speaker 2: The dude is like basically on a treadmill, running around,
- 17:07Speaker 2: catching and shooting all game.
- 17:08Speaker 1: One of the things I think that's interesting about this
- 17:10Speaker 1: Knicks team too, is so Victor wembin Yama. I think
- 17:15Speaker 1: is gonna have the same perception of him if they
- 17:18Speaker 1: don't win this finals, Like you're not gonna see people
- 17:20Speaker 1: all of a sudden say can he win one? Or
- 17:24Speaker 1: is he the player like Lebron who's gonna need to
- 17:27Speaker 1: form a big team. I don't think anyone's gonna over
- 17:29Speaker 1: maybe some, But the interesting thing about this Knicks team
- 17:33Speaker 1: is I think the perception on some of these players
- 17:36Speaker 1: if they win a championship is going to change a lot.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Jalen Brunson, can the small guy win a championship. Can
- 17:43Speaker 1: the best player on your team be a small guy
- 17:45Speaker 1: and win a championship without having a Duranta or Klay
- 17:48Speaker 1: Thompson chance for that to happen. There have been so
- 17:52Speaker 1: many people who have said Karl Anthony Towns is not
- 17:54Speaker 1: someone you can win a championship with. Well, I think
- 17:58Speaker 1: he's proven a lot of people already that that's bs.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Now he has to do it, I guess. But you've
- 18:03Speaker 1: seen the proof of concept here with Karl Anthony Towns.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I will say this. The window is going to be
- 18:09Speaker 2: open for the Spurs for the next Oh.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It's so open. Get your rings now, guys.
- 18:15Speaker 3: The Knicks, Yeah, that's right now. It might be this
- 18:18Speaker 3: year and that's it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: That's it because guess what's coming back from the Pacers
- 18:22Speaker 2: next year?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Tyre Saliburn saying he's.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Going to be No, he's gonna be the reason they
- 18:26Speaker 2: make it the be A Finals. Now you're talking about
- 18:29Speaker 2: a player that's been there.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:30Speaker 2: They're probably going to add some pieces because they sucked
- 18:33Speaker 2: last season.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Yep, there's Detroit Pistons.
- 18:35Speaker 1: They're going to be better next year. They may not
- 18:37Speaker 1: win as many games, but the Pistons are going to
- 18:39Speaker 1: be better, to learn something the Cavaliers might get Lebron
- 18:42Speaker 1: James like this is the East is going to be
- 18:45Speaker 1: much more difficult. But the perception of like Jalen Brunson
- 18:50Speaker 1: goes from being a potential Hall of Fame player, really
- 18:53Speaker 1: good player, to all of a sudden being like you
- 18:55Speaker 1: were the lead player who wins a championship. And I
- 18:59Speaker 1: think that's something to keep in mind here with motivation
- 19:02Speaker 1: four nine four five one to coma doadge text line,
- 19:05Speaker 1: let us know who you think is going to win.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We'll react to your texts and talks and Mariners and
- 19:09Speaker 1: next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM, ooh,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I love beats like this. It just it's just so
- 19:21Speaker 1: ha my time for sure. Chris Crawford in for Greg
- 19:24Speaker 1: Bell was joined by my good buddy Christopher Kid. Thanks
- 19:28Speaker 1: everybody for all of your texts, and I thought we'd
- 19:30Speaker 1: react to some now, So I asked you guys at
- 19:32Speaker 1: the beginning of the show with the Mariners eight and
- 19:36Speaker 1: one over their last nine, whether you're buying in or
- 19:39Speaker 1: whether you need to see more text from the two
- 19:42Speaker 1: oh six. I think we need to see more consistency
- 19:44Speaker 1: on winning. Keep up six, four, seven, three stretches for
- 19:47Speaker 1: a month or two. We are still living by the
- 19:49Speaker 1: long ball, and this isn't a consistent offense. We need
- 19:52Speaker 1: a Buckston type bat. Now, that's something I'm very intrigued in.
- 19:56Speaker 1: A Byron Buckston for the Seattle Mariners is something that
- 19:59Speaker 1: I I would personally love to see. But I think
- 20:03Speaker 1: that's a fair thing too. Like, this is the first
- 20:05Speaker 1: time the Mariners have won three series in a row
- 20:07Speaker 1: all year, Chris, Like, it's been a while since we
- 20:10Speaker 1: have seen the Seattle Mariners play at the twenty twenty
- 20:14Speaker 1: five form. Now right now they're playing literally over the
- 20:17Speaker 1: last nine they're playing at the two thousand and one
- 20:18Speaker 1: and then some form. But we need to see, obviously
- 20:22Speaker 1: this for a more consistent period before I think people
- 20:25Speaker 1: are going to completely buy.
- 20:26Speaker 2: In from the four two five. There's a difference between
- 20:32Speaker 2: teams with good records and good teams.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Question about it.
- 20:37Speaker 3: That's the sincton straight to it.
- 20:38Speaker 1: That's that's then I totally agree, Like there are teams
- 20:43Speaker 1: that take advantage of the schedule that they play. I
- 20:45Speaker 1: think this is more true in sports like football, where
- 20:49Speaker 1: we don't see teams play everybody, and you know, college
- 20:52Speaker 1: sports in particular, like we see the eleven to one
- 20:55Speaker 1: Sun Belt team is not equal necessarily to the eight
- 20:57Speaker 1: and four or seven and five ten team. But yeah, absolutely,
- 21:02Speaker 1: just because you have a good record does not necessarily
- 21:06Speaker 1: mean you're a good team. My vibes have been high
- 21:10Speaker 1: all season. This is from Marcus in the two to
- 21:11Speaker 1: oh six will be high for the rest of the year,
- 21:14Speaker 1: even during the team lows. Respect it. I absolutely respect it.
- 21:18Speaker 1: A lot of texts regarding to re scooball and again
- 21:22Speaker 1: thanks to Keith Law for joining us, and he talked
- 21:25Speaker 1: about his reservations. Sounds like a lot of people are
- 21:29Speaker 1: kind of agreeing with him. Text from the three to
- 21:32Speaker 1: six Oh here scoo ball is too old, too expensive,
- 21:35Speaker 1: and he hasn't put any team over the top yet
- 21:37Speaker 1: and he is injured now, and then it gets into
- 21:40Speaker 1: all caps. No, the injury thing is definitely sutting. You
- 21:43Speaker 1: got to keep an eye on it for like, you're
- 21:45Speaker 1: going to have to be really comfortable with the medicals
- 21:49Speaker 1: to make this type of trade. A lot of people too,
- 21:52Speaker 1: asking what type of package it would take. You're talking
- 21:55Speaker 1: about moving a couple of your very best prospects, and
- 21:58Speaker 1: you may be talking about moving a bat currently are
- 22:02Speaker 1: a picture currently on your Major League Rocester here? Like
- 22:06Speaker 1: this is an interesting one for me, And maybe I'll
- 22:08Speaker 1: ask Ian about this when we're doing cross talk, like
- 22:11Speaker 1: which of those pictures would you be willing to move
- 22:14Speaker 1: currently of the six to go get it Toreek Schooble,
- 22:17Speaker 1: Because I'll tell you right now, the Detroit Tigers will
- 22:20Speaker 1: have zero interest in Luis Castillo. That just there's no region.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It wouldn't make sense for them to go get a
- 22:26Speaker 1: Luis Castillo. The Seattle Mariners will have no interest in
- 22:29Speaker 1: moving a Logan Gilbert or a Brian Wu. So it
- 22:33Speaker 1: basically becomes down to would you be willing to move
- 22:36Speaker 1: a Bryce Miller or move a George Kirby to go
- 22:40Speaker 1: get a tarik' Scooble. I don't think there's any doubt
- 22:43Speaker 1: that Tarik schoobl is better than those guys right now.
- 22:46Speaker 1: But you may only have Schoobl for a couple of
- 22:48Speaker 1: months or at most a month or a couple of
- 22:52Speaker 1: months and maybe a year after. There's a chance of
- 22:55Speaker 1: that happening for sure. But at the same time, Legs
- 23:00Speaker 1: fly forever, my man and getting a chance to get
- 23:03Speaker 1: that World Series and having a player who I disagree
- 23:06Speaker 1: with Keith on this one a little bit. I do
- 23:08Speaker 1: think he is the type of guy who could put
- 23:10Speaker 1: you over the top.
- 23:11Speaker 2: From the four two five, this is for you, Chris.
- 23:16Speaker 2: What would a Buxton trade look like?
- 23:18Speaker 1: So that's a really interesting one because he's under contract.
- 23:22Speaker 1: He is also someone Minnesota values very much from both
- 23:27Speaker 1: a baseball player standpoint, and he's easily the most popular
- 23:31Speaker 1: player in Minnesota, not in overall life. Basically Anthony and
- 23:36Speaker 1: Edwards is that guy. But I think you're looking at
- 23:39Speaker 1: a Johnny Farmelo type and then a couple of other
- 23:42Speaker 1: decent prospects. So you're moving a top one hundred guy
- 23:44Speaker 1: to get him. I don't think it would cost you
- 23:47Speaker 1: the certainly, not the Andersons, Certainly not the Sloans. Maybe
- 23:52Speaker 1: a lazarro Montes. That's gonna be a really interesting one
- 23:54Speaker 1: because teams are going to either love lazarro Montes or
- 23:58Speaker 1: because of his skills Thatt hate him. But something along
- 24:00Speaker 1: those lines of a prospect, a B prospect, and a
- 24:04Speaker 1: C prospect probably gets it done.
- 24:07Speaker 2: This is from the two h six watching the handful
- 24:10Speaker 2: of cracking games this season and then watching the Stanley
- 24:14Speaker 2: Cup finals. The level of hockey these two teams play
- 24:17Speaker 2: is just different. Is just a different cut of steak
- 24:20Speaker 2: over the Kraken. We'll play with the stake there.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that was really good and you're right, like these
- 24:27Speaker 1: teams are so much better and so much deeper. But
- 24:30Speaker 1: more than anything else, you know, the the Hurricanes are
- 24:34Speaker 1: kind of who the Kraken want to be a team
- 24:36Speaker 1: of players that are very good but don't really have
- 24:41Speaker 1: huge star power. But there's so much quality that it
- 24:44Speaker 1: beats to quantity. You have to have a ton of
- 24:48Speaker 1: quality in order for it to work. And that's what
- 24:50Speaker 1: the Cracking are missing, Like they just don't have that
- 24:54Speaker 1: star power that can get you over the top. Right now,
- 24:57Speaker 1: this is the most important offseason for the Crack And
- 24:59Speaker 1: I know, oh that's an easy thing to say for
- 25:02Speaker 1: a team that's only had a few of these. They
- 25:05Speaker 1: have to go get that star. They have to go
- 25:07Speaker 1: get that Jason Robertson, go get that Dylan Larkin requested
- 25:12Speaker 1: to trade. Apparently you have to do everything in your
- 25:15Speaker 1: power to go get one of those star players.
- 25:18Speaker 2: This is from the three six oh disappointed with what
- 25:28Speaker 2: the Manners have four less wins than the team with
- 25:31Speaker 2: the most wins in the AL and that team just
- 25:34Speaker 2: lost its best player. I'm tired of the pessimistic stuff,
- 25:39Speaker 2: but I understand it. We don't have to be sports
- 25:41Speaker 2: fans the way the Boomers were.
- 25:45Speaker 3: That's okay.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I think it's okay to say that thirty three and
- 25:49Speaker 1: thirty is not what we were looking forward to. Now.
- 25:53Speaker 1: It's far from a predictive record. It's far from a
- 25:58Speaker 1: complete indictment from things. But if they would have played
- 26:01Speaker 1: okay over the or played to the level that they
- 26:04Speaker 1: should have played at to begin the year, and if
- 26:07Speaker 1: not for you know, Keith brought it up the Dan
- 26:10Speaker 1: Wilson mistakes. This is not just local people talking about
- 26:13Speaker 1: Dan Wilson, guys. There is a national conversation about Dan Wilson.
- 26:18Speaker 1: If they would have played better, then we're talking about
- 26:22Speaker 1: this team running away with the division, and they still might.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I would be more surprised if they lost the division
- 26:30Speaker 1: than if they won the division by ten games. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: think they're going to win this division going away, but
- 26:35Speaker 1: I would like to see more consistency. My good buddy teeth,
- 26:38Speaker 1: Keith asks how Skeeter, I don't know who Skeeter is. Keith,
- 26:41Speaker 1: come on, I don't think that's a real person that
- 26:44Speaker 1: I pretend to be sometimes. Skeeter's doing great. He's gonna
- 26:48Speaker 1: drink a couple of Natty lights and go watch Project
- 26:50Speaker 1: Hill Mary later on tonight.
- 26:53Speaker 2: From the four two five. I would rather see the
- 26:55Speaker 2: Mariners get a bet than Schooble.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I'm not mad at that.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm mad at that either, and I don't disagree. I
- 27:03Speaker 1: don't think that they can't do both. I do believe
- 27:06Speaker 1: that the Mariners have a good enough farm system that
- 27:09Speaker 1: they can go make moves that they can obviously they
- 27:13Speaker 1: can go make moves. Anybody could make moves. But they
- 27:15Speaker 1: can go get a bat and also go get a
- 27:19Speaker 1: Schooble and also go get a reliever. There's nothing preventing
- 27:22Speaker 1: all three from happening. And you don't have to destroy
- 27:25Speaker 1: your farm system in order to do that as well.
- 27:28Speaker 1: By the way, yes, Jason from the two oh six
- 27:33Speaker 1: can't go down two Oho to the Nickson. Thanks, You're welcome.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That is my that is my stone cold lock there
- 27:39Speaker 1: for you. That it is a bad thing to be
- 27:42Speaker 1: down to nothing in a series when you lose home
- 27:44Speaker 1: field advantage.
- 27:46Speaker 3: This is from the four two five.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Okay, absolutely not Mariners need belief pitching, and that's in
- 27:55Speaker 2: terms of going after schoolble.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you can do both. Like no reliever is gonna
- 28:01Speaker 1: cost you. The things that are gonna go get you
- 28:03Speaker 1: to Rekschooble, Like you can go get a Rico Garcia.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And this is interesting because Jeff Pissan, I always call
- 28:10Speaker 1: him Pissan. That's just something I do. Uh had an
- 28:14Speaker 1: article where he listed what the Mariners should be looking
- 28:17Speaker 1: to get and he had something that said, go get
- 28:20Speaker 1: it to Rekschooble, or go get a Rico Garcia, who
- 28:23Speaker 1: is a reliever for baltimorow as an era of like
- 28:25Speaker 1: zero point five. Right now, you can go do both.
- 28:29Speaker 1: There's nothing that prevents you from doing both. The relief market.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You do not have to move elite prospects to go
- 28:35Speaker 1: get relievers that can help you. Uh four, two five
- 28:38Speaker 1: or excuse me, two o six doesn't matter if I
- 28:40Speaker 1: want the Ems to get Schoble, because they won't. I'm
- 28:43Speaker 1: sure he'll land with the Dodgers. Yankers Yankees are really
- 28:46Speaker 1: anyone but Seattle. Sad but true. I mean, I do
- 28:50Speaker 1: think he's gonna end up being a Dodger, But I
- 28:53Speaker 1: don't think we can criticize what Seattle's done at the
- 28:55Speaker 1: I have criticized this organization a lot, what they have
- 28:58Speaker 1: done at the deadline, the life last couple of years.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I don't think you can criticize You got a Josh Naylor,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you got a Randy A Rose Arena, you got an
- 29:05Speaker 1: Aohenio Suarez. There's been lots of things that you can
- 29:09Speaker 1: complain about. I don't think you can complain about them
- 29:12Speaker 1: at the deadline. Speaking of complaining, unfortunately I have to
- 29:15Speaker 1: talk to Ian for Nest next Chris Crawford in for
- 29:20Speaker 1: Greg Bell. Really appreciate you guys listening. I'm always super
- 29:24Speaker 1: honored when I get a chance to do this, and
- 29:27Speaker 1: I'm super honored to get to talk to my good
- 29:29Speaker 1: buddy who I used to get to talk to all
- 29:32Speaker 1: the time, and then I left here and now I
- 29:37Speaker 1: get to talk to some young blood. It's nice to
- 29:41Speaker 1: talk to some young blood because Ian just doesn't get us.
- 29:46Speaker 3: No, he doesn't get us.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Andrews, how's it going, buddy good?
- 29:48Speaker 3: You don't want to talk to a Canadian anyway?
- 29:50Speaker 1: No, go absolutely, I don't have to talk to a Canadian.
- 29:54Speaker 1: July sixth, I'll start talking without Canadians give me a
- 29:57Speaker 1: couple of days after the fourth of July.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fair.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Oh, we had a lot of conversation. I had Keith
- 30:02Speaker 1: law on today because that's the only guest who will
- 30:04Speaker 1: honestly come on with me anymore. But we had a
- 30:08Speaker 1: long conversation about the Mariner farm system. By the way,
- 30:11Speaker 1: he thinks the Mariners have the best left handed and
- 30:14Speaker 1: right handed pitching prospect in baseball. Wow, in Kate Anderson
- 30:17Speaker 1: and Ryan Slope.
- 30:17Speaker 4: So how different is that from because I know there's
- 30:21Speaker 4: been a few prospect analysts that have said they have
- 30:25Speaker 4: the two best pitching projects.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I think he has those as the top two. Yeah, absolutely, yeah, no,
- 30:32Speaker 1: And I was surprised because I think most people have
- 30:35Speaker 1: seth Rnandez higher than Ryan Sloane. Seth Rnandez is a
- 30:39Speaker 1: long way to go. He's a teenager where Ryan Sloane
- 30:41Speaker 1: is all of twenty years old. He's an old man
- 30:44Speaker 1: who's dominating in double just like yes, exactly, But that
- 30:48Speaker 1: was really interesting to hear like that he's so enamored
- 30:52Speaker 1: with those two guys. And then we had a conversation
- 30:54Speaker 1: about to Reek Schooble, because there has been some to
- 30:58Speaker 1: Reek Schooble talk and saw it a lot on the
- 31:00Speaker 1: Tacoba Dodge text line four nine four five one. By
- 31:03Speaker 1: the way, some people are like, why are you talking
- 31:06Speaker 1: about trade acquiring starting pitching, like they've already got too
- 31:09Speaker 1: many and then you've got these two guys, but Anders, Yeah,
- 31:13Speaker 1: I can't help but think about the twenty twenty five
- 31:16Speaker 1: postseason and on top of a disastrous decision by the manager.
- 31:20Speaker 1: By the way, Keith also said that Dan Wilson is
- 31:22Speaker 1: an issue interest which is kind of becoming a thing.
- 31:26Speaker 4: Well, that conversation definitely is quieted down in a couple
- 31:30Speaker 4: of weeks.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, what happens.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's amazing how that works. But what was interesting
- 31:37Speaker 1: was he was also a belong the lines of it
- 31:42Speaker 1: just doesn't really make sense for me to go after
- 31:44Speaker 1: a two week school ble, like you're not going to
- 31:47Speaker 1: be able to get him without giving up so much.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I will say, though, I look back at that postseason
- 31:55Speaker 1: and one of the reasons why I think the Mariners
- 31:58Speaker 1: are not in did not go to that World Series.
- 32:01Speaker 1: The starting pitching faltered. Yeah, George Kirby had a couple
- 32:04Speaker 1: of clunkers. Locan Gilbert had a clunker, Brian was injured,
- 32:07Speaker 1: Brian who was injured. Luis Castillo had a bad start
- 32:10Speaker 1: against Toronto, and think about what ter Scuball did for
- 32:14Speaker 1: that postseason, Like if not for a terrible decision by
- 32:17Speaker 1: aj Hinch, who he if he leaves to rescooble In
- 32:21Speaker 1: to pitch that eighth inning? Yah, who knows what we're
- 32:23Speaker 1: talking about here?
- 32:24Speaker 3: Leo rievas my hero, Louis Leo.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Rivas my absolute king. I can't help but think getting
- 32:32Speaker 1: an ace like that without having to give up a
- 32:36Speaker 1: Kata Anderson or Ryan Sloan because they're gonna ask is
- 32:39Speaker 1: something the Seattle Mariner should absolutely be interested.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:42Speaker 4: And the thing about you know, I realized the thought
- 32:44Speaker 4: process behind you know, you won the one, not the one,
- 32:48Speaker 4: but one of the areas you feel confident in and
- 32:50Speaker 4: do you feel like you have depth in? Is starting
- 32:52Speaker 4: pitching and then going and acquiring another starting pitcher would
- 32:56Speaker 4: feel a little redundant. But I kind of counter that
- 32:59Speaker 4: with this, Yes, you feel like you have six guys
- 33:02Speaker 4: or the Mariners at least feel like they have six
- 33:04Speaker 4: guys that are capable starting pitchers. But do they have
- 33:08Speaker 4: an ace? Do they have?
- 33:09Speaker 1: They don't think they do.
- 33:10Speaker 3: I don't either.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Do they have that one guy that you can show
- 33:14Speaker 4: in in a in a must win game and know
- 33:18Speaker 4: that he's going to absolutely shove on any lineup in
- 33:22Speaker 4: the league. And you know, I like Brian Wu. He's
- 33:26Speaker 4: my first He's my first choice right now. But there's
- 33:30Speaker 4: a difference between Brian Wu and a Terrek schoobl Right,
- 33:34Speaker 4: So yeah, and that I think is what you would
- 33:37Speaker 4: be acquiring, and in my eyes, the Mariners wouldn't. It's
- 33:41Speaker 4: a complicated question with Schooble because I think they would
- 33:44Speaker 4: be acquiring him just for this year, they would not
- 33:46Speaker 4: be extending him. And then you kind of go to
- 33:51Speaker 4: the question of, all right, what are you going to
- 33:53Speaker 4: give up for basically a rental to go all in
- 33:56Speaker 4: for this year? And to me, the first name that
- 34:00Speaker 4: comes to my mind is Logan Gilbert. Interesting, So in
- 34:04Speaker 4: my eyes, the Mariners are not going to extend both
- 34:07Speaker 4: of Logan Gilbert and George Kirby, probably just one of those.
- 34:11Speaker 4: And you know, you can kind of quote unquote make
- 34:15Speaker 4: a decision and be like, all right, I'll give you
- 34:18Speaker 4: a year and a half of Logan Gilbert for a
- 34:20Speaker 4: half a.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Year of terror School.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Interesting, And then you extend Kirby at that point, that's
- 34:25Speaker 4: the easiest. I think you're you're kind of giving up
- 34:28Speaker 4: more time, but to get a higher ceiling guy to
- 34:31Speaker 4: go all in on this year. And I like Logan,
- 34:33Speaker 4: He's you know, had a little bit of an up
- 34:35Speaker 4: and down year this year. But I feel like that
- 34:39Speaker 4: makes the most sense. If you could throw in maybe
- 34:41Speaker 4: a Logan Gilbert and maybe a Felm and Celliston or something,
- 34:44Speaker 4: that'd be possibly getting the Tigers to finangle with you
- 34:49Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I think it's possible. I still just unfortunately the Dodgers
- 34:53Speaker 1: can just do whatever the hell they want, and I
- 34:55Speaker 1: think the Dodgers will do whatever the hell they want
- 34:57Speaker 1: and end up getting him. Think again. In the morning,
- 35:01Speaker 1: had Cody steven Hagen of The Athletic on, and he
- 35:04Speaker 1: seems pretty convinced that the Tigers aren't going to move
- 35:07Speaker 1: Schooble unless they absolutely have to. Sure, and because the
- 35:11Speaker 1: American League is ten pounds of crap in a five
- 35:14Speaker 1: pounds it is waiting for it because it is so bad.
- 35:20Speaker 1: You bet your sweet they're only like four games back
- 35:24Speaker 1: of a wild card spot, and you're going to get
- 35:26Speaker 1: Scoogle healthy. They I get it. I still think at
- 35:29Speaker 1: the end of the day, because of how Detroit operates, Yep,
- 35:32Speaker 1: I think they're gonna end up moving him real quick.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Soccer guy, Oh, soccer guy here.
- 35:37Speaker 1: World Cup coming up?
- 35:38Speaker 3: World Cup coming up. I would love to hear.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Something positive about this World Cup at some point. Well
- 35:48Speaker 1: it's not, no, it's it's man, just every single update
- 35:52Speaker 1: I get on this thing is about tickets that were
- 35:55Speaker 1: supposed to be paid for that we're freeing. Now they're
- 35:57Speaker 1: going to charge people for And I just it seems
- 36:02Speaker 1: like and it sucks because I'm so excited for the event.
- 36:04Speaker 1: It is my favorite sporting event bar none the World Cup.
- 36:08Speaker 1: It is, yeah, the NCAA tournament, NFL Draft, and I
- 36:12Speaker 1: know that's a weird comparison, but those are two of
- 36:15Speaker 1: my favorite. But I just like, I completely zone out
- 36:18Speaker 1: for the World Cup. I feel like we're not getting
- 36:23Speaker 1: to quote what the kids used to say, Hyphie enough
- 36:26Speaker 1: for this World Cup. Yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 4: I mentioned this a little bit with Ian yesterday, and
- 36:30Speaker 4: I get that vibe as well, at least in the
- 36:32Speaker 4: general American public. I think maybe I'm entrenched in the
- 36:38Speaker 4: soccer public, the world soccer public, a little bit more
- 36:41Speaker 4: than the average American sports fan, and I can tell
- 36:44Speaker 4: you that that is not the case. It is definitely
- 36:47Speaker 4: hiphie so to speak at this point. But I understand
- 36:53Speaker 4: the thought process behind. Maybe we're a little too close
- 36:56Speaker 4: to it because everything is involved with us in our
- 37:00Speaker 4: stadium and our city and our country and all that
- 37:03Speaker 4: kind of stuff, and these same things would be happening
- 37:06Speaker 4: in any other World Cup year. It's just we didn't
- 37:09Speaker 4: have as close of a you know, feeling towards it. So,
- 37:14Speaker 4: just like almost any other of the year, once the
- 37:16Speaker 4: games start, everything will go quiet. It's like, God, I
- 37:20Speaker 4: forget where I got this reference. But you know, if
- 37:24Speaker 4: you've ever watched fireworks with your family, yes, and you
- 37:28Speaker 4: know the Fourth of July can be kind of crazy,
- 37:31Speaker 4: lots of sugar going on with kids and then arguing
- 37:34Speaker 4: about stuff going on, like and then once the fireworks
- 37:37Speaker 4: start going, everyone shuts up and they just watch the fireworks.
- 37:41Speaker 4: That's kind of what I feel like the World Cup
- 37:43Speaker 4: is gonna is gonna be, like.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I feel that way about a lot of things. By
- 37:47Speaker 1: the way, everyone real quick, go check out the photo
- 37:50Speaker 1: that Norway took for there. It's just so freaking good.
- 37:54Speaker 3: The Vikings, it's so good.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Speaking of freaking good, what is Ian Fornas, who is
- 37:59Speaker 1: usually pretty freaking.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Good today, Well, he's good at you know, making us
- 38:04Speaker 4: do another segment if you don't mind, Yeah, for the
- 38:07Speaker 4: top of the twelve o'clock hour where they're still trying
- 38:09Speaker 4: to kind of figure some connections out here and there.
- 38:11Speaker 4: But uh so you and I will get to chat
- 38:14Speaker 4: a little bit during the first segment. We're gonna talk
- 38:16Speaker 4: to Danny O'Neill, We're gonna talk to Corbyn Smith. We
- 38:19Speaker 4: might hear a little bit from Hugh Millan because we
- 38:22Speaker 4: had him on earlier in the week, but it was
- 38:24Speaker 4: during a Mariner's game. We all know, you know, things
- 38:26Speaker 4: go on. You're you're a big Mariner fan. You may
- 38:30Speaker 4: not have heard what hum Millen had to say about
- 38:32Speaker 4: the MLB CBA because he was a player rep for
- 38:36Speaker 4: the NFL during his time there, so he has a
- 38:40Speaker 4: very different perspective than I think a lot of people
- 38:43Speaker 4: would normally have. And you know, you get normal baseball
- 38:46Speaker 4: media guy and then you get a regular baseball fan,
- 38:50Speaker 4: and then you know, those can be very different sides
- 38:53Speaker 4: of the of the coin. So we're gonna hear a
- 38:54Speaker 4: little bit from Hum milling there, and then he had
- 38:57Speaker 4: a lot to say about Miles Garrett Raid to the
- 39:01Speaker 4: Rams as well, So you know, he breaks things down
- 39:04Speaker 4: unlike anyone else can. So we'll hear a little bit
- 39:08Speaker 4: from him, and then you know, we'll kind of sail
- 39:11Speaker 4: off into the sunset and into my last honestly, my
- 39:15Speaker 4: last true weekend for over a month man because of
- 39:19Speaker 4: the World Cup.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Well, we'll talk about all of that more coming up next.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Sports Rader in ninety three point three KJRFM
