- 2:23Speaker 1: on Hallmark and man Joao Noel still two years later
- 2:29Speaker 1: that title I don't speak French guys anyway. She also
- 2:33Speaker 1: appeared as Carol Langetti and what is maybe my favorite
- 2:38Speaker 1: non Hallmark show right now?
- 2:39Speaker 2: The diplomatic WOA bold proclamation So good. Nigel Whitney plays
- 2:46Speaker 2: the Keller family patriarch. Hallmark viewers will recognize him as
- 2:49Speaker 2: Byron from the Way Home. He's also known for extensive
- 2:53Speaker 2: voice work across television and video games.
- 2:55Speaker 1: When watching this, were you like, I know his pace?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Who I know?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Sees?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yes? Where is he from? Where is he from? And
- 3:02Speaker 1: then it hit me, I was like, duh, it's a Byron.
- 3:05Speaker 1: German actor Frederick Brossier was last seen on Hallmark and
- 3:10Speaker 1: A Heidelberg Holiday in twenty twenty three, opposite Jenna Claire Mason,
- 3:14Speaker 1: a non a non Decide Barochia plays William and returns
- 3:18Speaker 1: to Hallmark following the Presence of Love. His past credits
- 3:21Speaker 1: include Bridgerton and The Outpost. Jill Winternetz as Felicity, makes
- 3:27Speaker 1: her Hallmark debut in a Keller Christmas Vacation. This marks
- 3:30Speaker 1: her thirty first acting credit. We are going to take
- 3:33Speaker 1: a quick break and we'll come right back with our
- 3:35Speaker 1: first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of
- 3:46Speaker 1: a Keller Christmas Vacation Miracles of Christmas Restored.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Oh, breakout the tissue, we need a kill Nex collab totally.
- 3:58Speaker 2: My first impression is one again. I say, when are
- 4:01Speaker 2: we taking a trip to the holiday market?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god. We got to talk
- 4:05Speaker 1: about it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Well, let's talk what we liked about this movie. Well, first,
- 4:10Speaker 2: for me, I thought the sibling trio was super believable.
- 4:16Speaker 2: We have Cal, Dylan, and Emerie.
- 4:19Speaker 1: They just all worked. Yeah, they bickered like family, they
- 4:23Speaker 1: tease like family, and still somehow they had each other's
- 4:29Speaker 1: backs like when it really mattered. I just thought this
- 4:31Speaker 1: dynamic felt real. It just it all worked together. And
- 4:35Speaker 1: incredible casting too. I thought, I totally agree. I loved
- 4:39Speaker 1: this trio.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And Jonathan Bennett posted he was like, what do you
- 4:43Speaker 2: get when you put Aaron Samuel's Superman and Sue Heck
- 4:46Speaker 2: in a movie together and it's movie magic. Honestly, it's
- 4:50Speaker 2: great sibling casting.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, like him and Brandon Ralph looked very similar.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I read an article where Brandon had said, like they
- 5:00Speaker 2: look like siblings, and so they finally got to play siblings.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they I don't know, it's just like the dark hair,
- 5:07Speaker 1: the futures they It's totally believable to me, totally, totally,
- 5:10Speaker 1: one thousand percent great casting. I also just real quick
- 5:14Speaker 1: about the siblings. I loved the moments when they had
- 5:18Speaker 1: like real talk, like the not the like bickering, but
- 5:23Speaker 1: the scene, especially when they're in that barn hotel and
- 5:26Speaker 1: they're all sharing that one room and the boy the
- 5:28Speaker 1: boys are on the ground and sisters on the bed
- 5:31Speaker 1: and they're talking and then they share like I love
- 5:34Speaker 1: yous I got I wish I had relationships like this
- 5:38Speaker 1: with my own siblings.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a great one. And then the one
- 5:42Speaker 2: where they say, hey, we need to have a sibling
- 5:44Speaker 2: chat and they go to talk about what's going on
- 5:47Speaker 2: with Dylan and William because William has shown up and
- 5:51Speaker 2: they can tell that there's tension, and I like that
- 5:52Speaker 2: they have their own little sibling moment, and they all
- 5:55Speaker 2: kind of also talk about other ways in which their
- 5:58Speaker 2: life is falling apart a little bit. Yeah, quick, little
- 6:03Speaker 2: like like the opening sequence with the family photos. I
- 6:05Speaker 2: thought that was well done and on theme with the
- 6:06Speaker 2: movie Mitya. I loved it, Like some of the funnier
- 6:09Speaker 2: lines in this movie, you're so touchy when you don't
- 6:11Speaker 2: have your morning protein. Yes, and William's like me at
- 6:15Speaker 2: one of my brother's family football drafts. In terms of comedy,
- 6:19Speaker 2: there's a lot of physical comedy on the part of
- 6:21Speaker 2: Jonathan Bennett, which he does so well when he gets
- 6:24Speaker 2: stuck in his later hose in when he smacks his
- 6:27Speaker 2: head on the stealing of his bedroom. And the dock
- 6:31Speaker 2: running scene. If you're on TikTok and you haven't seen
- 6:34Speaker 2: videos of dock runners shot by fellow cruisers as their
- 6:38Speaker 2: shipmates try and make it back to the all aboard
- 6:41Speaker 2: call times.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh sprinting down the long docks.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I thought it was great.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I love that scene. I know it was a little
- 6:48Speaker 1: like it's a little hygiene see, but not so much
- 6:51Speaker 1: like you know, they're riding in on this like motorcycle
- 6:53Speaker 1: with a sidecar and they're like, right here, that was funny.
- 6:59Speaker 1: That's that's It feels like a nightmare to me, Like
- 7:02Speaker 1: that would be my biggest I would be like, we
- 7:04Speaker 1: have to get back to the about two hours early
- 7:06Speaker 1: before it leaves because I don't want to be left
- 7:08Speaker 1: behind one hundred yeah. No, speaking of funny lines, it's
- 7:13Speaker 1: in my digit see that's but I'll just since you
- 7:15Speaker 1: dropped yours here, I had a few that I thought
- 7:17Speaker 1: were really funny. Jonathan bennisys one time, I'm not an athlete,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but you should see me on a pilates reformer I
- 7:23Speaker 1: thought was really funny. Also Emory when they get to
- 7:27Speaker 1: that bar and she goes, why do I feel like
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm in the future of a true crime podcasts? I
- 7:31Speaker 1: love that. And also when they were sleeping in that
- 7:35Speaker 1: room at that barn, Dylan makes reference to the creepy
- 7:38Speaker 1: elf that's above him and he goes, have you seen
- 7:40Speaker 1: the creepy elf? The trauma is real? And I was like,
- 7:43Speaker 1: if you know, you know? That was great, really good. Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I liked the slow burned storyline for cal I thought
- 7:53Speaker 1: his backstory was a lot. I'm going to talk about
- 7:55Speaker 1: that and my wishes, but I like that he meets
- 7:58Speaker 1: like this gal on a cruise and he's single. He's charming.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Felicity clearly agrees. I like their growing connection. I was
- 8:06Speaker 1: rooting for them. I liked that it wasn't like I
- 8:10Speaker 1: love you at the end or anything, you know. I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was like, Ah, they met each other and let's see
- 8:15Speaker 1: where this goes. I really enjoyed that you mentioned the
- 8:18Speaker 1: Leader Hosen. I loved it. I thought it was hilarious.
- 8:22Speaker 1: That's it. I just thought it was funny that somebody
- 8:24Speaker 1: took his clothes and then now he's in the Leader
- 8:26Speaker 1: Hosen yep, from top to bottom. I just I thought
- 8:29Speaker 1: that was hilarious. I loved the redemption for William. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: was so sad. I'm going to talk about it in
- 8:36Speaker 1: my wishes too, but I was so sad that the
- 8:40Speaker 1: parents brought him into what was going on there, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: the dad's like medical stuff, and that he had that
- 8:48Speaker 1: weight to bear, and I just thought that was so unfair.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So I loved that they apologized to him at the end.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I loved William in this movie. Ye.
- 9:00Speaker 2: William has so much warmth to his character.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh so good.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I really loved him as well. I like the moment
- 9:07Speaker 2: when the parents have let the kids in on what's
- 9:09Speaker 2: going on with dad. And I watched this movie twice,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and when I watched it the second time, I was like, Oh,
- 9:14Speaker 2: it's so obvious, knowing what I know now, but when
- 9:18Speaker 2: they say we're not the only ones who know, and
- 9:20Speaker 2: I was like.
- 9:21Speaker 1: William knows. Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And Jonathan Bennett as Dylan's face as he has that realization,
- 9:28Speaker 2: all the emotions that cross his face. That was a
- 9:31Speaker 2: really emotional scene for me. The kids reacting to the parents.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it was too much. And this is
- 9:37Speaker 1: why I think it is because of the age we are. Yes,
- 9:40Speaker 1: we have aging parents. Yes, like dealing with this stuff
- 9:43Speaker 1: feels very real. Yes, I truly truly thought the writing
- 9:51Speaker 1: of this script treated this storyline with such care. I
- 9:56Speaker 1: really appreciated it. I did too.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I also really appreciate the way they handled Emory's career
- 10:03Speaker 2: path we have. I think it's very realistic while also
- 10:08Speaker 2: honoring her passion. She's like, look, I gotta pay the bills,
- 10:10Speaker 2: so I'm going to take a real job, but I
- 10:11Speaker 2: am going to commit myself to trying to make my
- 10:15Speaker 2: passion into a full time reality. I think that's realistic, right,
- 10:20Speaker 2: Like she's not blowing it off, but she also knows,
- 10:23Speaker 2: as she says, the economy has not been kind to
- 10:25Speaker 2: her generation, right right. They handled it well.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And that moment with her parents where she's talking to
- 10:31Speaker 2: them and they're like, why aren't you doing this more?
- 10:33Speaker 2: And she was like, what are you talking about? Like
- 10:34Speaker 2: I need to pay my bills. I thought it was
- 10:36Speaker 2: nice that they're recognizing that life is short and they
- 10:41Speaker 2: want her to be happy.
- 10:43Speaker 1: To be happy, I'm telling you Miracles of Christmas. Yeah,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I feel like maybe we might have been. This is
- 10:51Speaker 1: like a gotcha movie. You think it's going to be
- 10:54Speaker 1: like and it's comedy. There's a lot of comedy in it,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but it really gets you right and like good. Yes. Oh.
- 11:01Speaker 2: The one other comedic line that I had in my
- 11:03Speaker 2: notes was that's right, Captain glue Vine.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was hilarious, right. I love that he
- 11:08Speaker 1: got hammered on whatever that like German wine was or whatever.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Two more little things, no, three more things. I loved
- 11:18Speaker 1: the proposal between William and Dylan.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Proposal.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I loved all of that. I thought the final
- 11:26Speaker 1: scene of this movie was like, I couldn't believe how
- 11:29Speaker 1: much I was crying watching the final scene as the
- 11:33Speaker 1: sons are helping their dad along the ice. Oh, oh
- 11:37Speaker 1: my god, Oh my god. And then it has this
- 11:40Speaker 1: song playing, which the song I don't know what it was,
- 11:43Speaker 1: but the line in the song was no matter where
- 11:44Speaker 1: you go, let Christmas bring you home. Oh my god.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I am a hot mess watching the end of this movie. Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 1: a hot mess. One final thing you talked about it
- 11:56Speaker 1: the Christmas markets and your first impression. The Danube sells
- 12:00Speaker 1: itself here, like, take me to a snowy European market.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm ready to go. I know.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I want to go on a Christmas market cruise.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I think that is like a huge bucketless item. Now,
- 12:16Speaker 1: me too, I'm gonna mention it here. It's in my
- 12:19Speaker 1: did you see that? But the floating heart light in Vienna?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, looked like me too. That exists me too.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I loved that floating heart light. I've been all in
- 12:30Speaker 2: on that.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Oh my god. I watched so many TikTok videos of
- 12:35Speaker 1: it last night.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I was like, that's funny. I loved it too.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I have to see it in person. I know. Yeah,
- 12:43Speaker 1: very cool.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Let's talk wishes.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I have just a few, yeah, same, very few. My
- 12:48Speaker 1: first one is about Col and his backstory. At the
- 12:52Speaker 1: very top of this movie, we get a ton of
- 12:56Speaker 1: information about Col's baggage a little too much. Look, they
- 13:00Speaker 1: could have just made him recently divorced guy and goes
- 13:04Speaker 1: on a family cruise like, I don't know why we
- 13:06Speaker 1: needed I'm divorced and I have this long crush on
- 13:09Speaker 1: a friend who, like our timing didn't work out. What what? Why?
- 13:13Speaker 1: Why why do we need all that, especially.
- 13:15Speaker 2: In a movie with so many storylines.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was bizarre. The divorce was enough. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: My other wish is me thinks that Sue heck as
- 13:29Speaker 1: Emery could have used a little bit of lip color. Oh,
- 13:32Speaker 1: but she would just bare lip the entire time. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: just was like, dress this girl up a little bit,
- 13:37Speaker 1: okay all And then my final wish, the Christmas tree
- 13:42Speaker 1: ring was really quite terrible. Uh huh, But I loved
- 13:46Speaker 1: the whole proposal, and I know it was like a
- 13:49Speaker 1: replacement for like the ring that was back at home
- 13:52Speaker 1: and whatever.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But right I was like, oh good, you kind of
- 13:56Speaker 2: touched on my wish. But it's the Dylan and William conflict.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It's so drawn out in the movie, like they have
- 14:03Speaker 2: so many confrontations where ohays like, please tell me what's
- 14:06Speaker 2: going on and William can't say a word, and it's
- 14:11Speaker 2: it's frustrating as a viewer, And when you have all
- 14:14Speaker 2: the information, you understand why.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But it's a hard it's hard to.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Watch, and I guess maybe that's real life, but I
- 14:23Speaker 2: just have to wonder, Like you said, it is so
- 14:26Speaker 2: unfair that his parents put him in that situation. It
- 14:30Speaker 2: just was potentially very damaging to their relationship.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Oh totally, so I thought.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I found that very frustrating. And again that sort of
- 14:39Speaker 2: decision making maybe real life, like we reached out to
- 14:41Speaker 2: the one person we knew, who we were close to,
- 14:44Speaker 2: but who might be able to help us out here,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and then that inadvertently had a.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Little bit of a butterfly effect. That was hard for me,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you know, because there's like hipA violations and stuff like that. Right,
- 14:55Speaker 1: Like Williams by law can't tell Dylan any of this stuff.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I don't think that's a hip of violation because he's
- 15:01Speaker 2: not their patient. Like, oh, that's like your friend. I
- 15:04Speaker 2: don't think he's that.
- 15:06Speaker 1: He They just came to him for advice or recommendations
- 15:10Speaker 1: or whatever. Right yeah, but still like, don't put this
- 15:13Speaker 1: man in the position when the parents are not ready
- 15:16Speaker 1: to tell their children about what's going on.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Like ah, and and Dylan says, like, they're right. I
- 15:22Speaker 2: would have told everybody if they had come to me
- 15:23Speaker 2: with this information, I wouldn't have been able to keep
- 15:25Speaker 2: it to myself. But it's complicated. One last tiny wish
- 15:29Speaker 2: real missed opportunity not to have Catherine dish Or make
- 15:32Speaker 2: a cameo on board.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I agree, I absolutely agree. But did you notice it
- 15:36Speaker 1: was a different Yes, it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Did cruise line cruise line indeed.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, oh, that's so interesting, Like why
- 15:43Speaker 1: they why Hallmark couldn't have like not that Hallmark production
- 15:47Speaker 1: whoever couldn't have like struck another deal to highlight the
- 15:52Speaker 1: same cruise line as they used before.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah, who knows it?
- 15:55Speaker 1: To me? It looks like they actually shot a lot
- 15:57Speaker 1: of stuff on this boat.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's actually in my legs. Remember how you
- 16:01Speaker 2: always wanted more boat stuff, a lot of boat stuff. Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 2: more boat stuff.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I loved it. I really love the white elephant exchange too,
- 16:10Speaker 1: with the other passengers. It's so fun, so fun.
- 16:13Speaker 2: The contrast of that, like the the fun joy of
- 16:17Speaker 2: the exchange and then the dramatic way in which it
- 16:20Speaker 2: ends really well done.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh gosh when he goes down, I went.
- 16:24Speaker 2: No, no, it's it's a real gut punch because you
- 16:28Speaker 2: get so caught up in the like I love a
- 16:29Speaker 2: white elephant exchange and the stealing and it's so fun
- 16:32Speaker 2: and yeah and then oh.
- 16:34Speaker 1: No, oh, no, you know, shout out to McLean Nelson.
- 16:37Speaker 1: He he can do drama. Really I wouldn't. I don't
- 16:41Speaker 1: want to see drama. He can do drama really well.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But the presence of love was very dramatic too. Yes,
- 16:48Speaker 1: is drama the right word I'm using? Yeah, I would
- 16:51Speaker 1: say these are that was a drama anyway. He's a
- 16:56Speaker 1: good a romantic drama rather than a romantic comedy. Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 1: this is like a dramedy. Yeah, that's definitely what I
- 17:05Speaker 1: would call this one. Well, let's talk to you. You see
- 17:08Speaker 1: that I already talked about several things, but I have too.
- 17:12Speaker 1: We didn't talk about the gingerbread masterpieces when they well,
- 17:18Speaker 1: first of all, they're building their their gingerbread house and
- 17:23Speaker 1: I don't know what Dylan is putting on the top
- 17:27Speaker 1: of it that makes it like all crumble apart, like
- 17:30Speaker 1: I know, like so Cal wasn't holding it, but like
- 17:33Speaker 1: Dylan was trying to put like a roof on it
- 17:35Speaker 1: or something that whatever my digit see that is. I
- 17:39Speaker 1: thought it was hilarious that they had the ruins of POMPEII. Yes,
- 17:42Speaker 1: that's final thing. I thought that was hilarious. I thought
- 17:45Speaker 1: it was really good. My only other digit see that,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and I wondered if it was intentional. Now, the mom
- 17:51Speaker 1: and dad are in their room and he's like putting
- 17:53Speaker 1: his shoes on and they're getting ready to go. He's like,
- 17:55Speaker 1: I just gotta tie my shoes, and then he stops,
- 17:57Speaker 1: like mid shoe tie, and then just puts his foot
- 18:00Speaker 1: back down on the ground. And I was like, oh, well,
- 18:02Speaker 1: is that like a Parkinson's thing, where like, yeah, is
- 18:05Speaker 1: that a tell or did He just was like, Okay,
- 18:09Speaker 1: we're not actually going anywhere, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 1: what about you.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I have a couple of little things. One at the
- 18:17Speaker 2: first Christmas Market. The Noah is speaking and he's like,
- 18:22Speaker 2: this market fills the whole park, but all we can
- 18:24Speaker 2: see are a few stands and it looks really tiny.
- 18:27Speaker 2: So I kind of was like pan back a little
- 18:29Speaker 2: bit because I know they were there during the actual
- 18:32Speaker 2: Christmas markets. Obviously, you know, we see the Hearts of Vienna.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I know, you remember when we interviewed Jonathan Bennett last year,
- 18:39Speaker 2: he was like, I'm leaving for a movie that has
- 18:41Speaker 2: to be shot during a specific time of year, yep,
- 18:44Speaker 2: And we were like the holiday markets, but he did
- 18:46Speaker 2: not come firm but yeah, so I wanted to see
- 18:50Speaker 2: more of that. My only true did you see that?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Is Dylan and William are walking and Dylan is telling
- 18:58Speaker 2: William about his frustration with his job, and William says
- 19:03Speaker 2: he'll figure it out. And they both have earpieces for
- 19:05Speaker 2: the tour in and Jonathan reaches for his and then
- 19:08Speaker 2: he puts his hand down. And then the next scene
- 19:10Speaker 2: they turn to face each other and then they both
- 19:12Speaker 2: reach for their earpieces to take them out, and I
- 19:14Speaker 2: felt like it was like just a slightly early cue
- 19:16Speaker 2: for Jonathan. Oh interesting, but the emotional moment was so
- 19:20Speaker 2: strong that they're like, let's leave that take because they
- 19:22Speaker 2: were connecting. Finally. Just a fun fact, I read a
- 19:25Speaker 2: little interview with Eden Chair about this movie and she
- 19:28Speaker 2: says she became very close friends with Anandaci Barchia, who
- 19:32Speaker 2: plays William in this movie. We were fast friends. We clicked,
- 19:36Speaker 2: We immediately ticked off one of the key requirements of
- 19:40Speaker 2: any lasting friendship. We were snarky on the side together.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Oh that's fun. And I would like to say that
- 19:48Speaker 2: Eden Chair is a delightful follow on TikTok, so give
- 19:50Speaker 2: her a follow.
- 19:52Speaker 1: What is she doing now?
- 19:54Speaker 2: I don't know what she just like talks about her
- 19:57Speaker 2: life at home with her twin daughters.
- 20:00Speaker 1: A fine, yeah, fun.
- 20:03Speaker 2: What did you rate a color Christmas vacation?
- 20:05Speaker 1: This one's up there. This is a four and a
- 20:06Speaker 1: half star maybe for me, I.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Gave you four point two five star. Ah. Thank you
