- 0:07Speaker 1: actor Chris D. Lofton in the building.
- 0:11Speaker 2: What's thank you for having.
- 0:13Speaker 1: So excited to have you and from the what five
- 0:39Speaker 1: or ten minutes I got to know you. You are
- 0:42Speaker 1: a real man in the kitchen.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I try to be.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I just try to do what I can do when
- 0:45Speaker 2: I can do it. That's just really what I do.
- 0:47Speaker 1: He's a real man in the kitchen. He was showing
- 0:50Speaker 1: me videos and pictures and I was trying to steal
- 0:52Speaker 1: some recipes and like most cooks, he was holding it
- 0:55Speaker 1: close to the vest, like, don't worry about it if
- 0:56Speaker 1: I put it in the air fry or now.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'm like, how you see you gotta relax, you gotta
- 1:01Speaker 2: relax just a little bit. You gotta crawl before you walk.
- 1:02Speaker 2: We're gonna get that thing. Oh, relationship is quite there.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Just trust me. When I try food. I literally if
- 1:07Speaker 1: I go to restaurants something's really good, I'm the type
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'll go home and I'll say I think I know
- 1:13Speaker 1: what they did or what seasoning.
- 1:14Speaker 3: And I'm going to make that Oh yes, no, that
- 1:17Speaker 3: just happened to me.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I was in Dallas, like now when I'll be making
- 1:20Speaker 2: some wings, like bro I went in the back. I
- 1:22Speaker 2: made them go get the damn chef out the kitchen.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I said, excuse me, ma'am, ma'am, I'm gonna need to
- 1:26Speaker 2: talk to you. I need five seconds of your time. Ma'am.
- 1:29Speaker 2: What the hell did you put on them wings?
- 1:31Speaker 3: I said, the glade? How did you do it?
- 1:33Speaker 2: What did you do?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh, you'll ask the questions like I'm gonna start asking.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I was like, okay, So I said, okay, you put maple, brown,
- 1:39Speaker 2: sugar and honey and butter. That's the base because otherwise
- 1:42Speaker 2: where you get the glazes from? And then what did
- 1:44Speaker 2: you do? I was? She was like, you you be cooking.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I was like, I'm asking for a reason, lady, what
- 1:50Speaker 2: did you do?
- 1:51Speaker 1: What I find interesting about you saying this is that
- 1:53Speaker 1: when I was trying to peep, Oh, what what did
- 1:56Speaker 1: you do with them wings?
- 1:56Speaker 2: You was like, yeah, that's just because you ain't had
- 2:00Speaker 2: a chance to experience them for yourself.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Like take a bike. Then if you take a BikeE.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I may or may not award you that information. You
- 2:08Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. But I feel like until you've
- 2:10Speaker 2: had them yourself, I don't want you going home trying
- 2:12Speaker 2: to emulate some shit you ain't never had. That's kind
- 2:14Speaker 2: of where I'm coming from with that. So it's like, nah,
- 2:17Speaker 2: you just relax, you come eat them, and then once
- 2:19Speaker 2: you eat them, then I'll kind of give you some tips.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I think.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Okay, okay, well, what will you be having me eat today?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Uh? Today, we're gonna take it back a little bit.
- 2:29Speaker 2: This was like this meal right here. I remember this boy,
- 2:32Speaker 2: and especially with just bread. We're gonna eat some chili dogs,
- 2:35Speaker 2: a little a little hood chili dog. I like to
- 2:38Speaker 2: call a little hood nigga chili dog a hood.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So, by the way, I talked to your publicists and
- 2:42Speaker 1: she was saying, there's a such thing as chili with
- 2:44Speaker 1: no beans? Is that really real? Is that a such
- 2:47Speaker 1: thing there is?
- 2:48Speaker 3: But I don't like chili with no beans?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Okay when she mentioned it, I said, please don't even
- 2:52Speaker 1: hint to him, there's a chili with.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:57Speaker 1: By way, red I switched it out with turkey.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh you find you one of those? Well, no, I
- 3:04Speaker 2: you assume that the actors are or you are no
- 3:06Speaker 2: asson that the guest star.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's that I'm allergic to red meat. Oh and I
- 3:12Speaker 1: used to like ignore it all the time, and then
- 3:14Speaker 1: I was like, oh, you're too old to pretend like
- 3:16Speaker 1: you're not allergic to something. So now I switch it out.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And then so and I know turkey isn't gonna be
- 3:22Speaker 1: as good as beef and pork, but that's what I've
- 3:24Speaker 1: been doing. Fine, we're gonna try it.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It's gonna be good. We ain't worried about that.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So what's in the ingredients?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Honestly for me? And remember we talked early a little
- 3:33Speaker 2: bit off offset. We talked about the curve balls that
- 3:35Speaker 2: may or may not take place, And honestly, I'm thinking
- 3:39Speaker 2: these are This is all I need, honestly, right here
- 3:41Speaker 2: the seasons you got me together. This is really all
- 3:43Speaker 2: I need is the or Male Chili.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Though I like this one, all right, So list it
- 3:46Speaker 1: out for all.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Like this or Male Chili. That the hot dog can
- 3:49Speaker 2: be the hot dog in your choice. It don't have
- 3:51Speaker 2: to be Oscar Mayor to see this. This is the
- 3:52Speaker 2: kind of expensive brand you went all out that was
- 3:54Speaker 2: like the five forty nine, six forty nine pack at
- 3:57Speaker 2: the Rouse. You ain't need to do that, see for
- 3:58Speaker 2: the people at home when you really broke, if you
- 4:00Speaker 2: eating while broke, they do got some hot dogs for
- 4:02Speaker 2: two dollars. Trust me, I know where they at, I
- 4:04Speaker 2: know which all to go. You just got to reach
- 4:05Speaker 2: behind these Oscar Myers. Noh yeah, you don't need you
- 4:10Speaker 2: don't need hot dogs. They got a commercial for this.
- 4:12Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You can just get a
- 4:14Speaker 2: hot dog. Yeah, you don't need that. You don't need
- 4:16Speaker 2: that for this. But I appreciate the gesture, but you
- 4:18Speaker 2: don't necessarily need it. You know what I'm saying. You
- 4:20Speaker 2: could have said about three thirty nine, right, But that's cool.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And the cheese is very very optional because that's my
- 4:25Speaker 2: curve ball. I ain't on rock with cheese. Oh really yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 2: not in situations like this.
- 4:30Speaker 1: My thing is so it's just the ormel Chilian and.
- 4:34Speaker 2: A hot dog. Ya. I don't like cheese.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Were specific? You didn't want buns, you wanted the slice bread.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because if we eating while broke, who the hell
- 4:42Speaker 2: just got hot dog buns and hamburger buns laying around.
- 4:44Speaker 2: That's very intentional. That's very intentional. It's like, nigga, are
- 4:47Speaker 2: we barbecuing soon? Did we just barbecue. Like, you don't
- 4:50Speaker 2: just have hot dog buns and hamburger buns. I don't think,
- 4:54Speaker 2: but you might have some bread.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I love that you're really making me experience what you
- 4:59Speaker 1: experienced when you were broke.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that might not even be broke. That could have
- 5:03Speaker 2: been yesterday. Ship, we don't strike for all.
- 5:07Speaker 1: That is true.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It is true, ship that the white bread who just
- 5:11Speaker 2: really for real, if you really think about it, you
- 5:13Speaker 2: ain't gonna open your cabinet right now probably and see
- 5:16Speaker 2: hot dog buns.
- 5:16Speaker 1: No, no, And and if I do order hot dog buns,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it'll be the day that I'm that you're about.
- 5:21Speaker 2: To make some Italian sausage or some hot dogs, or
- 5:24Speaker 2: some broad words or some hot links. It's a very
- 5:26Speaker 2: like by case basins with with the buns. You know
- 5:29Speaker 2: what I'm saying. You gotta be intentional with your buns,
- 5:31Speaker 2: is all what I'm saying.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Well, while we be an intentional, why don't you start
- 5:35Speaker 1: cooking for them? All right, let's do it real quick
- 5:37Speaker 1: since I'm gonna be taking all the way real quick.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna do a little bit like this.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna see I like that. You gotta see even
- 5:44Speaker 2: though it's a hot dog, and they need to do
- 5:45Speaker 2: the most.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You're adding a whole lot of salt to that water.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You put salt water fishing.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Actually, it really need to be more than that, if
- 5:53Speaker 2: we're being honest, a lot of turning back on. Yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna do it, Lodo, because we can't.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Okay, so you boil them the hot dogs.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're gonna how many of you want? Though?
- 6:02Speaker 1: I just want one.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You just want one. I'm gonna do my best even
- 6:05Speaker 2: though I'm gonna do this first, let's hit this.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Sanitiz saying it real quick.
- 6:12Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. We ain't got the we
- 6:13Speaker 2: ain't got the city. I wish I had a tie
- 6:15Speaker 2: to throw over, but we cook. I wish I had
- 6:16Speaker 2: a little tile to throw. I'm gonna try to I'm
- 6:19Speaker 2: gonna try to do you like this, but it's real simple.
- 6:21Speaker 2: It ain't gonna it ain't gonna wint gonna hurt no body.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's what we're not gonna do. You just want one.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I just I'm gonna go one with you.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Then that's how we need.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna go one with you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Actually make an extra one for pictures later.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Okay, for sure, one more one for the pictures, the
- 6:36Speaker 2: picture for the pictures, and we're gonna just boil that thing.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It ain't gonna take too long. Okay, it ain't gonna
- 6:41Speaker 2: take too long.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And do you watch to see if it like busts open?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Is that when you know it's boiled to completion?
- 6:46Speaker 2: I do I do like it. I do like it
- 6:48Speaker 2: to break a little bit.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how I do.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I do like it to break a little bit. I'm
- 6:51Speaker 2: not gonna lie to you.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I do like the talking to a guy that's in
- 6:54Speaker 1: the kitchen. You'd be like a cook.
- 6:56Speaker 2: For real. I actually do like it to break for real,
- 6:59Speaker 2: for real. That's how I am. Like even if I
- 7:00Speaker 2: was making these on the if I was making these
- 7:02Speaker 2: hot dogs on the grill or something, I want the
- 7:04Speaker 2: blackest burnings one on there, or don't give it chili.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, if we barbecuing, okay, I want to burn hot
- 7:10Speaker 1: I don't want to burn burn. I want it to be.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I want if it's on the grill, I want I
- 7:16Speaker 2: want the black one. I want the one with the
- 7:18Speaker 2: damn bubbles on the side, because it's been on there
- 7:20Speaker 2: so long. That's the one I want. Okay, with the
- 7:22Speaker 2: sweet baby rais, and we're gonna go crazy. Okay if
- 7:24Speaker 2: you're picking up when I'm putting down, yes, ma'am.
- 7:27Speaker 1: All right, So then you're gonna heat the chili.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yep, I'm gonna heat the chili. I was gonna let
- 7:31Speaker 2: it get a Look, I could just do this. It
- 7:32Speaker 2: ain't that deep with this. We can just do that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So take me back to what was going on when
- 7:37Speaker 1: you were eating can chili and some hot dogs.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Shit, man, life is what was going on because uh,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I was one of them kids. Let's start here.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I got a mancipated when I was seventeen.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Okay, so like legally manurpated. Yeah, that's really hard to do,
- 7:54Speaker 1: by the way.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they just signed it. It wasn't wasn't no fight back,
- 7:58Speaker 2: wasn't no nothing like that. And it wasn't though, because
- 8:01Speaker 2: it wasn't on no like mcaulay coke and shit, fuck
- 8:03Speaker 2: you mom and dadd It wasn't nothing like that. It
- 8:05Speaker 2: wasn't like I hate you. It wasn't are you.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Trying to get into college for cheaper or something like.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Nah. It was because one day, one day, my mom
- 8:12Speaker 2: just decides to walk in the house and say, hey,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I'm moving to Georgia and not Atlanta. I'm moving to
- 8:19Speaker 2: Georgia and I'm from Chicago. It's my senior year of
- 8:21Speaker 2: high school. I'm I'm still playing sports. I was a
- 8:24Speaker 2: big football baseball player. I'm thinking I'm still going to
- 8:27Speaker 2: the NFL or the MLB. So I'm like, you're not
- 8:30Speaker 2: taking me out of school my senior year to move
- 8:32Speaker 2: to bumbafuck Georgia. It's not gonna happen. It's just not
- 8:35Speaker 2: gonna happen. And then she was like, yep, So I
- 8:38Speaker 2: quit my job. I cashed in my four oh one
- 8:40Speaker 2: K and I'm putting the house on the market and
- 8:42Speaker 2: we moving to Georgia. I said, nigga, where was at
- 8:45Speaker 2: the time.
- 8:46Speaker 1: He was there, and he was with it.
- 8:48Speaker 2: He said, I'll do it if that's what she want
- 8:50Speaker 2: to do. And he really did it. And I said,
- 8:52Speaker 2: oh well, and I got a sister. I ain't got
- 8:54Speaker 2: no other siblings. I got an older sister. I said, well, y'all,
- 8:57Speaker 2: niggas are moving to Georgia nowhere.
- 9:00Speaker 3: And then I was an actor already too.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I was already like doing TV shows and movies and
- 9:04Speaker 2: trying to really get it cracking. I'm like, man, I
- 9:06Speaker 2: got an agent here. This is my senior year sports.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm no, I'm not going nowhere. I'm getting recruited and
- 9:11Speaker 2: scouts coming and I'm like, you crazy hell you think
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna move to Georgia. And I said, well, y'all
- 9:17Speaker 2: can go. I'm staying.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And that's how did you end up moving in with
- 9:21Speaker 1: your sister or something? No, I live by myself at seventeen.
- 9:25Speaker 1: How are you paying for it? No? I like that?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no. So my uncle, I was lucky enough
- 9:39Speaker 2: that my uncle had one of my uncles who will
- 9:42Speaker 2: rename nameless for the sake of his stories. Okay, my uncle,
- 9:46Speaker 2: for the sake of this story. He had a uh
- 9:48Speaker 2: he had a little fun house, if you will. But
- 9:51Speaker 2: he was in the streets, so it was like his
- 9:53Speaker 2: little dope house. But he would but he would have
- 9:55Speaker 2: fun there too. It was it was a house that
- 9:57Speaker 2: his family didn't even know existed, but it was literally
- 10:00Speaker 2: eight minutes away from their family hall.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That's hilarious. And didn't know.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Nobody, kid's wife, nobody knew.
- 10:06Speaker 1: So like some guys have a man cave, he had
- 10:08Speaker 1: a whole He had a whole apartment. When I hear
- 10:10Speaker 1: fun house, the way you're saying it is it like
- 10:13Speaker 1: he had a whole apartment with like pinball machines.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And no, it wasn't that, because once again he was
- 10:17Speaker 2: in the streets. So it was like it was like
- 10:19Speaker 2: it was like the stash house, dope house. Like he
- 10:21Speaker 2: would come over there cooking and stood up.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Oh paying similar to this actually okay, okay, it.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Was actually a pot similar to this for being real.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So I never used to cook in there for real,
- 10:33Speaker 2: didn't want to use those dishes. But yeah, so when
- 10:37Speaker 2: my uncle, uh, when that happened, I called my uncle
- 10:40Speaker 2: and I'm like, yo, unc they getting ready to move
- 10:42Speaker 2: to Georgia, and I don't want to go? Do you
- 10:45Speaker 2: can I come stay with you and I'll just drive.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I'm like, I won't tell the school that I moved,
- 10:48Speaker 2: so I can stay in the district. They don't make
- 10:50Speaker 2: me try to like transfer. I'm like, I don't want
- 10:52Speaker 2: to leave school. But he lived like forty five minutes
- 10:54Speaker 2: away from the school I was going to, so I'm like,
- 10:58Speaker 2: I gotta make that drive. So I had a little
- 11:00Speaker 2: ninety baby blue Toyota Canry that was my little I
- 11:02Speaker 2: used to call it powder blue. It was a baby
- 11:04Speaker 2: blue ninety Toyota Camry damned seat belts automatically as soon
- 11:07Speaker 2: as you started up coming on you closed door. One
- 11:09Speaker 2: of them type of situations. It was one of them.
- 11:12Speaker 2: So I had that and I just used to drive
- 11:14Speaker 2: forty five minutes from one city to the other. But
- 11:16Speaker 2: I lived there and he had that apartment. So he
- 11:19Speaker 2: still made me pay rent, but not all of it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: He just made me pay like four five hundred dollars.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But and you were were you working for him to
- 11:27Speaker 1: pay it?
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, but not like crazy. He used to
- 11:29Speaker 2: have me like driving and doing a little shit I
- 11:31Speaker 2: probably shouldn't have been doing.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And your parents were cool. They knew that your game
- 11:35Speaker 1: plan was moving with the uncle.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they knew they and they were. But my pops
- 11:39Speaker 2: and that was my uncle. So my pops was like, hey,
- 11:42Speaker 2: be cool. And he and my pops and that was me.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So he's like, hey, I know you down there with
- 11:48Speaker 2: with your uncle, be cool, but mind you, Like I said,
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm two thousand miles away. They in Georgia, I'm in Chicago.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And the only reason I got emancipaid it was because
- 11:57Speaker 2: I was supposed to do this movie called grid Iron.
- 11:59Speaker 2: You remember that movie. With the Rock where he was
- 12:02Speaker 2: coaching the football team for them kids, like the Home
- 12:06Speaker 2: in Jail. I was supposed to have a main role
- 12:08Speaker 2: in that movie. They flew me out to La from
- 12:11Speaker 2: Chicago and everything, and I was supposed to be cast
- 12:14Speaker 2: as one of Lee rolls in that movie. But my
- 12:16Speaker 2: mom wouldn't sign a contract because they wanted me to
- 12:19Speaker 2: drop out of high school take the GED test so
- 12:22Speaker 2: they can work me like an adult so I wouldn't
- 12:23Speaker 2: have to be tutored on set. Yeah, all that time
- 12:25Speaker 2: and waste their time. And my mama was like, oh yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 2: hell no, my son, he's getting a diploma. He's not
- 12:30Speaker 2: gonna get no GED and you gonna want to go
- 12:32Speaker 2: to prom? You want to do this? Da da da.
- 12:34Speaker 2: So she turned it down and they flew my black
- 12:37Speaker 2: ass right back to Chicago like all right, brought in
- 12:39Speaker 2: somebody who was of age. So when they chose to
- 12:41Speaker 2: move to Georgia, that's when I said, well, hey, in
- 12:44Speaker 2: case something like that happens again, and I'm about to
- 12:46Speaker 2: be eighteen within a couple months, within a year, anyway,
- 12:49Speaker 2: let me make that decision. Don't take no money out
- 12:52Speaker 2: of my pocketing out my life, and you're not even
- 12:53Speaker 2: here helping me.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Now, I'm just curious. Take me back, because for a
- 12:57Speaker 1: seventeen year old kid who seemed to be a dream
- 13:00Speaker 1: levels of driven, like how did you start getting into acting?
- 13:05Speaker 1: But like before, I mean you obviously started before the
- 13:08Speaker 1: age of seventeen, Like were your parents holding your hand
- 13:10Speaker 1: or did you just start hustling it on your career
- 13:13Speaker 1: on your own?
- 13:14Speaker 2: I just got lucky, honestly, right place, right town. I
- 13:17Speaker 2: didn't want to be no actor. I didn't even know
- 13:18Speaker 2: nothing about it. All I cared about was sports, and
- 13:20Speaker 2: then at one point it was the streets, and then
- 13:23Speaker 2: at another point it was rapping. All I cared about.
- 13:25Speaker 1: How did you get the approach of acting?
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so the acting thing happened. I think these low
- 13:29Speaker 2: key are good. Some of them is busting, but we
- 13:31Speaker 2: can let this shit a little bit. But with the acting.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I just heard something on the radio in Chicago. I
- 13:37Speaker 2: heard something on the radio. They was like, yo, it's
- 13:38Speaker 2: some people in town looking for some young black boys
- 13:41Speaker 2: that know how to play baseball. And I was like, well, shit,
- 13:44Speaker 2: my mom, young, I'm black and I know how to
- 13:45Speaker 2: play baseball. Take the radio saying let's do it. Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 2: And I went and it was an open call audition
- 13:50Speaker 2: for a movie. And I didn't even know it was
- 13:52Speaker 2: a movie. I thought it was honestly a baseball tryout
- 13:54Speaker 2: because they was, you know, I'm like, it must be
- 13:56Speaker 2: a hell of a traveling team if they talking about
- 13:57Speaker 2: it on the radio. This shit gotta be lit. Got me,
- 14:00Speaker 2: what's up? Hell of a traveling team? So I'm like, yo, moms,
- 14:03Speaker 2: take me. She takes me, and then it ended up
- 14:05Speaker 2: being a movie audition. I'm like, oh, well, I don't
- 14:07Speaker 2: want to be in no movie. And my mama like, boy,
- 14:09Speaker 2: I drove your ass about a hour away from home.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You better go in there and see what the white
- 14:12Speaker 2: people want. You never know, She said, you at least
- 14:14Speaker 2: go see what the white people want, son, And I
- 14:16Speaker 2: was like, you, you're actually right, mama. We should go
- 14:17Speaker 2: see what the white people want.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So let's go see what these white exactly, that's literally
- 14:24Speaker 1: the conversation.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Let's see what these white people want. And from there.
- 14:29Speaker 2: From there, they handed me a script and was like, yo,
- 14:31Speaker 2: read this, but when you read it, try to act
- 14:33Speaker 2: like you're not reading it. To act like you're talking
- 14:35Speaker 2: to your friends right on the baseball fields. It's just
- 14:37Speaker 2: you and your friends outside.
- 14:38Speaker 3: How would you say it?
- 14:40Speaker 2: I was like, nigga, I would go like this. I
- 14:44Speaker 2: was like, okay, great, no, love it, love it, love it.
- 14:46Speaker 2: We'll be in touch. And I was like the fuck
- 14:47Speaker 2: out of here. Whatever.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm ten, I'm like, you're eleven, Okay, I'm a kid.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Shit, I'm like okay, and I left. And then three
- 14:55Speaker 2: months ago by and they really called like, hey, hey,
- 14:58Speaker 2: this is Brian Robins with pay about were looking for
- 15:00Speaker 2: Chris Laughton for the parents of Christopher Lofton. We're looking
- 15:02Speaker 2: for him. Yeah, he's gonna be in a movie with
- 15:03Speaker 2: the caller Reeves. Yes, yes, yes, that's right, the guy
- 15:05Speaker 2: from the Matrix. Indeed, what we're gonna do here, we're
- 15:07Speaker 2: gonna need a school involved. Can we get this and
- 15:08Speaker 2: this and this. He's gonna be tutor. Don't you worry, man,
- 15:10Speaker 2: We'll take great care of him. What I'm gonna need
- 15:12Speaker 2: from you now is to do you have a fax
- 15:13Speaker 2: machine or you need a fact machine? Can you get
- 15:15Speaker 2: to affects me? Shine? I was like, what the fuck
- 15:16Speaker 2: is going on? And then all of a sudden I
- 15:18Speaker 2: was in a movie.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Okay, and I've been acting ever since.
- 15:22Speaker 2: And that was twenty five years.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And what was your mom's initial response when she heard about.
- 15:26Speaker 2: All of this. My mom was like wow, because she
- 15:30Speaker 2: was like it was crazy because somebody at her job
- 15:32Speaker 2: also had told her about that open call. But I
- 15:36Speaker 2: guess she didn't even think nothing of it, or she
- 15:38Speaker 2: had forgot, because when I mentioned it to her, I
- 15:41Speaker 2: was like, man, I heard something that the radio said.
- 15:42Speaker 2: After we finally get there, she was like, oh, this
- 15:45Speaker 2: must be what my friend at work was telling me
- 15:48Speaker 2: that I should take you too, because you played baseball.
- 15:50Speaker 2: They was auditioning. He had read it in the paper
- 15:53Speaker 2: and she was like, and I didn't even mention it
- 15:54Speaker 2: to you. And I'm like, well, look what happened. Anyway,
- 15:57Speaker 2: I heard it from myself and she took me and
- 15:58Speaker 2: then that was it.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So did you enjoy acting? So how old were you
- 16:01Speaker 1: when you were in that movie?
- 16:04Speaker 2: I filmed it audition when I was ten. We filmed
- 16:08Speaker 2: it when I was eleven. It came out when I was.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Like twelve, Okay, And then what was that experience? Was
- 16:12Speaker 1: it good for you? It was good enough to keep pursuing, right?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yah? Yeah? No, that was the That was the greatest
- 16:17Speaker 2: experience ever to me. I don't think personally, I don't
- 16:19Speaker 2: think I'll ever had that much fun again, feeling anything,
- 16:23Speaker 2: just for the simple fact that it was so new
- 16:25Speaker 2: and so fresh, you know what I'm saying. Like I
- 16:27Speaker 2: didn't know nothing, I didn't know anything, I didn't know
- 16:29Speaker 2: nothing about the business, I didn't know I ain't know nothing.
- 16:32Speaker 2: So to me, I don't feel like I'll ever get
- 16:34Speaker 2: that experience again to where being so fresh and so new,
- 16:38Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I heard sometimes people say that the industry can be
- 16:42Speaker 1: like you're constantly chasing that high, that high of that
- 16:45Speaker 1: first experience. Do you feel, well, it seems like you
- 16:49Speaker 1: actually know that you'll never get that experience again. But
- 16:52Speaker 1: do you ever fall into the trap of wanting to
- 16:54Speaker 1: feel that high again?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Uh? Okay, you want to know what's crazy. I was
- 16:59Speaker 2: talking with one of my castmates from Power and we
- 17:01Speaker 2: were talking about it, and we were like, bro, we
- 17:04Speaker 2: had to check ourselves because it gets a little scary.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I'm making yours first. You want cheese?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yes, yes, you're so well mannered. I'm I'm
- 17:12Speaker 1: taking bad guys off camera. He would like. I opened
- 17:15Speaker 1: the door and he was like, don't I'm going to
- 17:17Speaker 1: I'm going to open it first and walk just for
- 17:20Speaker 1: everybody to listen of how he is when the camera's
- 17:23Speaker 1: not rolling. Yeah, he made sure that he held the
- 17:26Speaker 1: door open. He made sure, which isn't common in LA.
- 17:29Speaker 1: By the way, these guys nowadays, they watch you carry
- 17:32Speaker 1: a whole house.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I ain't from LA though. So we're good.
- 17:36Speaker 2: We're good. Worry about that about that?
- 17:38Speaker 1: So share what was going on with your castmate in
- 17:41Speaker 1: the store.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So I was just talking to him because
- 17:44Speaker 2: we was in Chicago, and I'm like, I said, I'm
- 17:46Speaker 2: from Chicago, so I've been. I went with fifty on
- 17:50Speaker 2: on his tour. I went to a couple of dates
- 17:52Speaker 2: on the on his tour that he's doing the Final
- 17:54Speaker 2: Lap tour, and Chicago my home city. Personally, I like
- 17:59Speaker 2: a little bomb, just.
- 18:00Speaker 1: A little you know, hilarious. I know you wasn't doing
- 18:02Speaker 1: this when you was broke.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You you just try.
- 18:07Speaker 1: What did you just sprinkle on it? Little Italian sea,
- 18:10Speaker 1: A little Italian sea.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I wish it. It's cool. I was gonna get both
- 18:16Speaker 2: the Italian season and the Reagano. Just give it a
- 18:18Speaker 2: little bit more of a season. In the Italian season,
- 18:20Speaker 2: I love this a little different, but it's cool. Let
- 18:22Speaker 2: me just get it off the hot eyes. Even though
- 18:24Speaker 2: they off, We're gonna just get it away because it's
- 18:26Speaker 2: still a hot top, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Now we're back, so wait before we even try this,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I want to hear this this conversation.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so fifty, I'm in Chicago at the United Center.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Like I said, I'm from Chicago, so it's dope. I'm
- 18:38Speaker 2: like bro to be back in Chicago. I remember being
- 18:40Speaker 2: broke his hell, couldn't get tickets to Bulls games. And like,
- 18:43Speaker 2: now I'm calling the people who work for the United
- 18:46Speaker 2: Center and they comping me sweets to invite twenty of
- 18:49Speaker 2: my friends. And I'm really, I'm really in the United Center.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Treatment like the trap, Like I'm walking through the United
- 18:54Speaker 2: Center smoking backwoods. I'm like yeah, Like I'm like, boy,
- 18:57Speaker 2: what walking through the back door with Jordan walking like
- 19:00Speaker 2: smoking back was telling them what to do? I'm like
- 19:03Speaker 2: this is crazy, right, And then fifty brings us on
- 19:06Speaker 2: stage when he's performing the Power Themes on he brings
- 19:11Speaker 2: like all us and a bunch of the cast on
- 19:13Speaker 2: stage in Chicago, my home city. I'm lit.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I'm like damn right.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And then I'm talking to one of my cast mats
- 19:19Speaker 2: and he was like, yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Dude, it's fucking scary. And I was like, right, because
- 19:23Speaker 3: I knew what he was talking about.
- 19:26Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, bro. When I got off the stage,
- 19:29Speaker 2: it was just like, oh, yeah, that was cool. What else? Wow?
- 19:34Speaker 3: And to me, that's the scary part.
- 19:35Speaker 1: That's the like why is it scary point?
- 19:38Speaker 2: Because to me, like I fear becoming becoming so comfortable
- 19:45Speaker 2: and used to things that I once thought were the
- 19:47Speaker 2: most amazing in the world. Wait you say that again,
- 19:50Speaker 2: Like I fear becoming comfortable and used to things that
- 19:53Speaker 2: I used to think would be the dopest and coolest
- 19:56Speaker 2: thing in the world. But now, because I'm in it,
- 19:59Speaker 2: I've gotten so you used to it that it just
- 20:00Speaker 2: don't even hit me the same, Like feeling nothing in
- 20:03Speaker 2: that moment.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Like it wasn't like, oh.
- 20:05Speaker 2: My god, fifty cent brought me on on stage in
- 20:08Speaker 2: Chicago at the United Center. I can't believe this. It
- 20:11Speaker 2: was like, all right, cool, No, that was cool.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And that's literally how it felt to you that day.
- 20:19Speaker 2: In the moment, it was I think I felt more
- 20:22Speaker 2: excited before I got out there, but when it actually happened,
- 20:25Speaker 2: I was just like, oh, this was up and then
- 20:28Speaker 2: so and then when it was over, it was just like, oh, yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 2: that did happen. Hunh that was cool. You know that
- 20:33Speaker 2: was cool I had Did you have fun? I had
- 20:35Speaker 2: a good time. Wow, It's like, yeah, I had a
- 20:37Speaker 2: good time. But because I got so fake spoiled by
- 20:40Speaker 2: the experiences. And that's what scares me to me as
- 20:43Speaker 2: a very slippery slope in this business, that's what keeps
- 20:45Speaker 2: you to me level and even killed. You know what
- 20:48Speaker 2: I'm saying, you gotta stay. Never get too high, it
- 20:50Speaker 2: never get too low. I don't ever take myself or
- 20:52Speaker 2: this shit too serious, because I really don't give a
- 20:54Speaker 2: shit about honestly, Like, I'm not that guy. I'm not
- 20:57Speaker 2: a Thesby, and I didn't go to acting school. I
- 20:59Speaker 2: didn't go to college to be an actor. I don't
- 21:01Speaker 2: do plays. I'm just a nigga from the West Side
- 21:03Speaker 2: of Chicago that just so happens to know how to act.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And I fucked around and got good at it and
- 21:09Speaker 2: also fucked around and fell in love with it. So
- 21:11Speaker 2: now that's the scary part, because now I like this shit.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Now I would imagine that this industry can be scary too,
- 21:18Speaker 1: because you're some of it is in your control and
- 21:21Speaker 1: some of it isn't in your control.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Well a lot of it, none of us, be honest,
- 21:25Speaker 2: I don't think none of it is.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So how do you handle the waves of hot and cold?
- 21:29Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure you've had hot and cold in
- 21:31Speaker 1: your career.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Oh My whole career was cold. It's just damn there.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Noah.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I've had mild successes, like I ain't gonna say that,
- 21:38Speaker 2: and I've done a lot of dope shit. I gotta
- 21:40Speaker 2: I got a helifire resume, but it wasn't nothing that
- 21:43Speaker 2: really moved the needle for real. Like, I don't feel
- 21:46Speaker 2: like I started moving the needle until I got to LA.
- 21:48Speaker 2: When I got to LA, when I made that decision,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I did the cliche shit one way ticket, three hundred
- 21:53Speaker 2: dollars in the backpack, I'm moving to LA to be
- 21:55Speaker 2: an actor. I did that shit like in real life.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I did it so like I really I'm the nigga
- 21:59Speaker 2: that did that done that you see on TV uh
- 22:02Speaker 2: what twenty seven? Because yeah, I'm thirty five now, been
- 22:04Speaker 2: out here eight years. So I came out here when
- 22:06Speaker 2: I was twenty seven, And like I said, I was
- 22:08Speaker 2: sleeping when I first got here, two bedroom house, faux niggas.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It was already a nigga on the couch, so I
- 22:14Speaker 2: couldn't get the couch. I was sleeping on the floor
- 22:17Speaker 2: on the bean bag in my homies room. It's the
- 22:19Speaker 2: wigger and Receider used to wake up every day, hop
- 22:22Speaker 2: on the Orange line to the Red line, get off
- 22:24Speaker 2: on Hollywood and Highland, standing out there on Hollywood and
- 22:27Speaker 2: Highland in front of them steps, selling hoverboards.
- 22:30Speaker 3: That's what I did for the first six seven months.
- 22:32Speaker 2: First six seven months I was in LA I was
- 22:34Speaker 2: standing out there selling goddamn hoverboards. And then my homie
- 22:37Speaker 2: who I used to live with, he had he worked
- 22:39Speaker 2: for Apple, the actual Apple store. And Apple actually gives
- 22:44Speaker 2: a shit about their employees, apparently, because they used to
- 22:46Speaker 2: give their employees like bus passes with money on it
- 22:49Speaker 2: every month if you didn't have a car. But he
- 22:52Speaker 2: had just recently got a car and they never stopped
- 22:54Speaker 2: loading the money for him. So he was like, hey, bro,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I got this little car that Apple be giving me.
- 22:58Speaker 2: It's probably like a hundred something on there for bus shit.
- 23:01Speaker 2: If you need to get around, you can have it,
- 23:02Speaker 2: and they load that shit every month. They ain't turned
- 23:04Speaker 2: it off, and I'm like, what so, nigga. I used
- 23:06Speaker 2: to when I was up there selling the hoverboards and
- 23:09Speaker 2: them shits, we wasn't really popping like that. I would
- 23:11Speaker 2: dip down the stairs to the Hollywood and Highland stop
- 23:14Speaker 2: and catch people about to go to the bus thing
- 23:16Speaker 2: and bottom a little venture cars or little cards or whatever,
- 23:18Speaker 2: and they putting a fifty in the machine or twenty.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I'll be like, who who whoa hey, nigga, Hey, hey,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I will load twenty dollars on that for you if
- 23:25Speaker 2: you give me ten dollars in cash right now.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Just so, I'm like, I know I need to buy weed.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I gotta eat today. I ain't got no money. I'm
- 23:30Speaker 2: not doing shit. I'm like, bro, get you putting fifty
- 23:33Speaker 2: in there, Bro, give me twenty five thirty dollars. I
- 23:35Speaker 2: will load it with fifty. Look, it's not a joke here.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Look I'll swiping for a dollar right now. I'm not kidding.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Look it works, it goes through. Look, here's a dollar car.
- 23:41Speaker 2: If you don't want it, at least you got a
- 23:42Speaker 2: free ride on me. And that's how I would pitch it,
- 23:44Speaker 2: and I would be selling down there, standing with that
- 23:46Speaker 2: with that Apple car that he gave me, catching people.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And that's how I get my little, my little pocket chain.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I was out there selling them damn hover
- 24:09Speaker 2: boards and then you know, touristy shit on Hollywood Boulevard.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So I catch them parents with their kids, and this
- 24:14Speaker 2: when hoverboards are kind of first popular. Yeah exactly, this
- 24:19Speaker 2: like so this is what twenty fifteen. So like I
- 24:22Speaker 2: would catch them parents walking with their little kids, and
- 24:25Speaker 2: I would pray on that. I'd be like, hey, I'll
- 24:26Speaker 2: let your son ride around Hollywood Boulevard one time, or
- 24:28Speaker 2: I'll teach him how to ride it right here, five dollars,
- 24:30Speaker 2: five dollars, he can ride around the strip one time
- 24:32Speaker 2: and bring it back.
- 24:33Speaker 3: And I just watched him. You can't go any further
- 24:35Speaker 3: than this, or.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I would ride one next to him, or you wouldn't
- 24:37Speaker 2: steal my shit, and just yeah wow, And I would
- 24:40Speaker 2: do that, So I would like give them like rides
- 24:41Speaker 2: on Hollywood Boulevard.
- 24:42Speaker 1: How are you getting? Who are you selling these hoverboards
- 24:44Speaker 1: for your homie?
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah? So my homie he was he used to sell
- 24:48Speaker 2: a weed, right, and I'm like I have no capital,
- 24:51Speaker 2: I have no money. I'm poor. And I was like,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but I'd found somebody. I basically found the plug on
- 24:56Speaker 2: the scooters. I found our plug, but I just ain't
- 25:00Speaker 2: had no money. I'm like, Bro, you know niggas is
- 25:02Speaker 2: fucking with these schools. I was. I said, Bro, I
- 25:06Speaker 2: got a lady who will give me these scooters for
- 25:08Speaker 2: only like two hundred and forty dollars a school the
- 25:10Speaker 2: Nigga and they was going for like five six at
- 25:11Speaker 2: the time, and I'm like, bro, she'd give them to
- 25:13Speaker 2: me for like two twenty two forty. But the catch
- 25:16Speaker 2: is I got about ten nigga. I'm not I can't
- 25:18Speaker 2: buy ten.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And I said, Bro, I came by ten.
- 25:20Speaker 2: He was like, nigga. I said, but Bro, I promise
- 25:23Speaker 2: you I can get them bitches sold I will. I
- 25:24Speaker 2: will stand outside every.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Day and I'm just scarious. Did you end up like
- 25:27Speaker 1: The Pursuit of Happiness where he was walking in an
- 25:29Speaker 1: apartment and they was looking at the stovers like.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Damn no, basically no, you want to know what's crazy?
- 25:34Speaker 2: It did take me at first, it took him in it,
- 25:36Speaker 2: but then once I started selling one, I sold over
- 25:39Speaker 2: and over.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Then it just started going.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Because they got popular, but it was hard to sell them,
- 25:43Speaker 2: like standing on the street because three doors down was
- 25:46Speaker 2: an actual storefront that sold them. So people would always
- 25:49Speaker 2: look like I was being like kind of you know
- 25:52Speaker 2: what I'm saying, but I really had them. But I
- 25:54Speaker 2: remember my pursuit of happiness moment though with those scooters
- 25:57Speaker 2: was I remember like, because my friends used to be like, bro,
- 26:00Speaker 2: you ain't scared somebody gonna try to rob you for
- 26:02Speaker 2: them scooters because like I said, I'm taking the bus
- 26:04Speaker 2: and trains and nigga, I would be riding one hoverboard
- 26:08Speaker 2: carrying three boxes of them alone, oh my god, midnight,
- 26:12Speaker 2: one in the morning, like on Hollywood and Highland, or
- 26:15Speaker 2: taking it to the Orange Line carrying three scooters.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Though, like I'm like, bro, shit, nigga, don't try me.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You gonna try they just here. Okay, we're gonna figure
- 26:23Speaker 2: out that.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I thought you were gonna say. Your pursuit of happiness
- 26:25Speaker 1: moment was when hoverboards all of a sudden went out
- 26:28Speaker 1: of style. I remember people selling them things for like
- 26:32Speaker 1: yeah facts.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Now by that time I stopped doing it and got
- 26:36Speaker 2: a real job. I only did that for like six
- 26:37Speaker 2: eight months.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Okay, so you didn't experienced the demise of them.
- 26:41Speaker 3: No, not while I was still selling, like yeah, nah,
- 26:43Speaker 3: like a couple.

- 27:40Speaker 2: Mm hm, No, my tooth big ain't a glitzy. This
- 27:43Speaker 2: is a glizzy.
- 27:44Speaker 1: This is a glizzy.
- 27:46Speaker 2: This is a glizzy, but it's a chili grizzy.
- 27:48Speaker 1: What does glzzy mean? A hot dog?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, glizzy is a hot dog or any or any
- 27:52Speaker 2: peenus shaped food, any peenus shaped food is.
- 27:55Speaker 3: But really a hot dog is a glazy. But it
- 27:57Speaker 3: could be an Italian.
- 27:58Speaker 1: South You turned around to away from the camera because
- 28:00Speaker 1: you didn't want to eat being in shape food in
- 28:03Speaker 1: the camera. So let me guess when you get ice cream,
- 28:08Speaker 1: you don't lick it, you bite it. I do the same.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie, but I do it because you know,
- 28:14Speaker 1: like I'm done already, I'm not hilarious.
- 28:16Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That was I'm so glad we have you on camera
- 28:20Speaker 1: turning away because he didn't want to put a a
- 28:22Speaker 1: glizzy gzy. Saying it the other way though, because it
- 28:25Speaker 1: sounds more traumatic.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But I just know that with your audience, with your audience,
- 28:30Speaker 2: they definitely somebody gonna say something in the comments about
- 28:33Speaker 2: not y'all eating glizzies. Now he's gonna here eating a glizzy.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I'body gonna say it. It's twenty twenty three. In the
- 28:38Speaker 2: black community, a barbecue sucking a gzy up. I don't
- 28:43Speaker 2: care in.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Front of people, don't give a fuck.
- 28:46Speaker 1: You literally turned your back.
- 28:47Speaker 2: That's because this is for the world. If it was
- 28:49Speaker 2: just for niggas, fuck him. I'm gonna eat I'm gonna
- 28:51Speaker 2: eat it like a barbecue.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But you don't want like a person outside of a
- 28:55Speaker 1: black person. So and you eat a hot dog outside
- 28:57Speaker 1: of a black person, no said at a barbecue, you
- 29:00Speaker 1: don't mind eating them?
- 29:01Speaker 2: Yeah, because I feel like it's a very isolated event.
- 29:03Speaker 2: It's a situation or it's not like on camera for
- 29:05Speaker 2: the world to see and just be commented about amongst
- 29:09Speaker 2: a platform.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I'm never gonna forget Glizzy for the rest of my life.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'm surprised you didn't know that already hot.
- 29:17Speaker 1: In your mouth in front of everybody in this room.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Bro.
- 29:19Speaker 1: And then someone's gonna be like, what's a Glizzy. I'm
- 29:21Speaker 1: gonna be like, it's a food that's saved like penis.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Yeah, bro. Like they be having like Glzzy cam on
- 29:26Speaker 2: the internet, like if you like go on TikTok or
- 29:28Speaker 2: something like that, and they be catching like they'll catch
- 29:30Speaker 2: a dude eating the hot dog, and then somebody be
- 29:32Speaker 2: zooming in on them, and then he'll look at the
- 29:34Speaker 2: camera be like, oh I can't start laugh like.
- 29:37Speaker 1: It's like no, like, yo, you got to take a
- 29:39Speaker 1: bite on camera.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I did. I did my first bide.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I turned around, was like, so you you were saying
- 29:47Speaker 1: that this is this, this can hang with the the
- 29:50Speaker 1: more expensive dishes in your.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Life, not necessarily hang with it. But what I'm saying
- 29:54Speaker 2: is the feeling that I.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Get from this red is falling apart. Is there like
- 29:58Speaker 1: a time limit when you eat these?
- 30:00Speaker 2: No? See I would have been ateed. We did let
- 30:01Speaker 2: it sit for a while.
- 30:02Speaker 1: No, I'm seeing the bread can't handle this.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Oh maybe I'll put too much on your situation, but
- 30:08Speaker 2: I don't know. I actually don't mind it, to be
- 30:10Speaker 2: perfectly honest with you. But yeah, all right, so here
- 30:15Speaker 2: you you want the own camera. It's okay. This is
- 30:17Speaker 2: gonna be a mean though.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You just know that you in your mouth.
- 30:21Speaker 2: You can't now, you gotta relax. That's crazy. No, putting
- 30:25Speaker 2: the Gleitzing in your mouth is crazy. Like, I feel
- 30:27Speaker 2: like makes a camera right now? Now, that's crazy. So
- 30:29Speaker 2: you ruined it. You ruin it. I was gonna do it.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I was gonna do it. Let till you said that
- 30:34Speaker 2: I can no longer do it. I can no longer
- 30:35Speaker 2: do it. I'm gonna get this.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I promise you. This is gonna be a little meme.
- 30:39Speaker 2: And I'm gonna tell you if you, if you, if
- 30:41Speaker 2: you refrain from using words like put the gleasing in
- 30:43Speaker 2: your mouth? Pause?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Can you please eat your hot dog?
- 30:47Speaker 3: Yes, I'll take a bite of the hot dog of
- 30:50Speaker 3: my chili dog to be more.
- 30:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 30:52Speaker 1: While you're taking a bite, play back what I said
- 30:54Speaker 1: to you.
- 30:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, you ate that. You ate that glzzy pretty good.
- 31:05Speaker 1: You know you know you took a nice size bite
- 31:08Speaker 1: out of your glizzy. Now, you handled that glizzy pretty well.
- 31:17Speaker 1: You should have never taught me that, because I promise you.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Every time I see you and be like, so, how
- 31:22Speaker 1: was that glazzy earlier? Oh yeah, you tearing it?
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yo.
- 31:27Speaker 1: He annihilated that glizzy. He gonna teach a class on
- 31:30Speaker 1: how to eat g lizzies.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yo.
- 31:36Speaker 1: So sorry, Oh look at this, he's enjoying it. He's
- 31:39Speaker 1: making sure that there's nothing spilled left. He eating and
- 31:43Speaker 1: all up. And you enjoyed that glitzen Okay, back to
- 31:48Speaker 1: the story, y'all. For all listeners, please like take time
- 31:51Speaker 1: out your day and watch him. Make sure to post
- 31:54Speaker 1: him eating the Glizzy and enjoying the Glizzy opening his
- 31:57Speaker 1: mouth wide for that glaz get in about thirty bites.
- 32:02Speaker 1: All right, So going back to the story. Okay, so
- 32:06Speaker 1: you know we're gonna fast forward to Okay, you get emancipated.
- 32:10Speaker 1: We're gonna try and find out what happened between you
- 32:12Speaker 1: being emancipated and before you moved to la.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Oh huh, tell me what's going on the time you
- 32:17Speaker 2: got on that camera. Body, No, I'm just playing.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Got like thirty minutes highlight real all right.
- 32:22Speaker 2: No, So between getting emancipated in that was just like
- 32:26Speaker 2: a lot of life, bro. Like I probably moved like
- 32:29Speaker 2: four different times. I had. I had a very premature
- 32:33Speaker 2: and early mid life crisis. What do you mean, Like
- 32:36Speaker 2: I feel like most people don't start like panicking to
- 32:38Speaker 2: like probably in their thirties yep or forties.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I had a panic at like thirty one, Yeah, thirty thirty.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Ye see my hit like maybe twenty three, twenty four
- 32:49Speaker 2: my hit early because like I said, I was already
- 32:51Speaker 2: acting since I was teen, and then I chose not
- 32:54Speaker 2: to go to college. I had a full ride to
- 32:56Speaker 2: school to play football baseball at Grammar Baseball.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I thought, you loved those things I did, but I
- 33:01Speaker 1: turned it down.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah, then I turned it down to keep acting.
- 33:04Speaker 2: And once I found out at the time they didn't
- 33:06Speaker 2: have shit like nil deals and all that, right, So
- 33:09Speaker 2: then I remember sitting down with the recruiters and they
- 33:11Speaker 2: told me that if I was to go to school
- 33:13Speaker 2: under a scholarship to play sports, I couldn't even be
- 33:15Speaker 2: in a movie that was about sports because now you're
- 33:18Speaker 2: a paid athlete technically.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Really, I didn't know that, yes, Okay, so.
- 33:22Speaker 2: When I found that out, I said, oh, well, fuck school, Like,
- 33:25Speaker 2: I can't even be a movie pretending to be a.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Baseball And how consistent were you doing acting at the
- 33:29Speaker 1: time when you're trying to make this executive decision.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I mean, I wasn't necessarily getting booked all the time,
- 33:35Speaker 2: but I had an agent. I was getting auditions all
- 33:36Speaker 2: the time, so I was getting those opportunities to be
- 33:38Speaker 2: in baseball, football, basketball movies. Like I was close to
- 33:42Speaker 2: getting Coach Carter. But at the time, Robert Richard was
- 33:46Speaker 2: the shit. He was just coming off one on one
- 33:48Speaker 2: and cousin Skeeter all that shit like he was the man.
- 33:51Speaker 2: So he ended up getting that role of Samuel Jackson
- 33:53Speaker 2: Son even though he likes geting with green Eyes and
- 33:55Speaker 2: Samuel Jackson Black as the fuck didn't make any sense,
- 33:58Speaker 2: but it made sense then, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:01Speaker 2: But I was up for that movie. So I was
- 34:02Speaker 2: thinking like that, like, bro, I almost got Coach Carter,
- 34:05Speaker 2: I almost got gritind Gang, And now y'all telling me
- 34:08Speaker 2: I can't even do a sports movie. And if I
- 34:09Speaker 2: go to cop what fuck y'all?
- 34:11Speaker 1: And what were your parents thinking when you made that decision?
- 34:13Speaker 2: My mom at first didn't like it, but but she
- 34:17Speaker 2: just trusted me, I guess. But I made it hard
- 34:20Speaker 2: for it though, because I didn't live a very comfortable life.
- 34:22Speaker 2: So that's pretty much what took place from from then,
- 34:25Speaker 2: from the emancipation up until your parents.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Aren't like helping you out, sending you some money at.
- 34:30Speaker 2: The time or no. See, my people, my people broke.
- 34:33Speaker 2: My people backwoods.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Missing They moved to Georgia, right.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Not Atlanta, Georgia. They in the country.
- 34:40Speaker 1: What were they doing out there?
- 34:41Speaker 2: They just living and working?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Okay, So so you're out there and they're just calling
- 34:45Speaker 1: and checking in on you.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they just calling and checking out. Like see, I'll
- 34:49Speaker 2: be wishing. You know how people say like, man, you
- 34:51Speaker 2: know my family, my parents, they only just give me money.
- 34:53Speaker 2: They throw money at problems, and it'd be like, damn,
- 34:56Speaker 2: I wish my parents could throw some money at a problem. Nigga,
- 34:58Speaker 2: I wish right, the right please, I'll come pick it up.
- 35:02Speaker 2: But it's easier easy for me to say because I
- 35:04Speaker 2: didn't have that. So for the people who have the
- 35:06Speaker 2: money but they don't have the love that my family
- 35:08Speaker 2: will give or the support because I know my mom
- 35:10Speaker 2: and dad let the shit out my black ass and
- 35:12Speaker 2: they still married. I don't come from no broken home,
- 35:14Speaker 2: none of that crazy shit, so that's dope. But for me,
- 35:17Speaker 2: it was just a lot of moving around. So I
- 35:19Speaker 2: lived in Chicago. I stayed there. Then I left Chicago
- 35:22Speaker 2: once the mid life crisis happened, a little early midlife crisis.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I moved to Mississippi for a year. Like I was
- 35:28Speaker 2: living in Jackson, Mississippi, because I was like, bro, I
- 35:31Speaker 2: don't know how to do shit but act and play sports, right,
- 35:35Speaker 2: because that's where my family is from, and I got
- 35:37Speaker 2: cousins and all that shit down there, and I was.
- 35:40Speaker 1: And how old are you then, Like nineteen okay, so you.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Moved there, yeah, like nineteen twenties. And then I say,
- 35:47Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, I went to Mississippi, and I'm just like, bro,
- 35:50Speaker 2: I don't know how to do nothing but act and
- 35:53Speaker 2: play sports. I need to learn something else that they
- 35:55Speaker 2: got shited to do with this industry at all. And
- 35:58Speaker 2: I went down there and worked for my cousin who
- 36:00Speaker 2: own a marketing and printing company, and I learned everything
- 36:02Speaker 2: about marketing and printing, and like, you know, now I
- 36:04Speaker 2: still got brokeer weights on, like everything I know about
- 36:07Speaker 2: satin lamination and UV gloss and all that shit.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I know all that shit.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Wow.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Because because of that, you.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Also learned like like kind of how to be an
- 36:14Speaker 1: entrepreneur and all that too.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Uh nah. That just kind of came because I used
- 36:17Speaker 2: to like be in the streets. So like I still yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 2: like I used to be in the streets, and I
- 36:22Speaker 2: kind of just I feel like my approach to the
- 36:25Speaker 2: active industry was I looked at it like a rapper
- 36:27Speaker 2: or a drug dealer. I didn't look at it like
- 36:29Speaker 2: an actor because I never looked at myself like an actor,
- 36:32Speaker 2: So I didn't I didn't.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Approach the industry with that mindset.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I approached it like, Okay, I'm a I'm a rapper
- 36:38Speaker 2: and I'm trying to sell an album or I'm trying
- 36:40Speaker 2: to sell a mixtape, or I'm a rapper trying to
- 36:42Speaker 2: sell some dope, and like I'm you know what I'm saying.
- 36:44Speaker 2: So like that's how I looked at it, And that's
- 36:47Speaker 2: just kind of how I learned the entrepreneurial stuff, because
- 36:50Speaker 2: like you got to kind of have an entrepreneurial spirit
- 36:52Speaker 2: when you're sitting on some stuff that you need to
- 36:54Speaker 2: get sold, even like you know what I'm saying. So
- 36:57Speaker 2: the spirit just came through life and and with me,
- 36:59Speaker 2: I moved so many places, so I felt like that
- 37:02Speaker 2: taught me how to talk to different people from walks
- 37:04Speaker 2: to life because I did grow up in Chicago, but
- 37:07Speaker 2: my family's so country in Mississippi that they raised me
- 37:09Speaker 2: with country morals and values and all my family and
- 37:12Speaker 2: cousins are hell of country. So I can talk to
- 37:14Speaker 2: country people and I can be up north. And then
- 37:16Speaker 2: I lived in Louisiana, I lived in Atlanta, I lived
- 37:19Speaker 2: in Mississippi. I lived in California. I lived in New
- 37:22Speaker 2: Orleans for a little small period of time, so I
- 37:24Speaker 2: know so many people from everywhere, and I can talk
- 37:26Speaker 2: to different crowds. My mom always used to say, you
- 37:29Speaker 2: got to be able to have a conversation with the
- 37:31Speaker 2: president and a gang member, And I feel like I
- 37:33Speaker 2: can and both of them gonna look at me like
- 37:36Speaker 2: I know what I'm talking about, And I like that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: There's some good life skills right there.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I can hold a conversation with the CFO
- 37:43Speaker 2: the CEO, and we can talk about our stock options,
- 37:45Speaker 2: and we can talk about trading options, and we can
- 37:47Speaker 2: talk about how Tesla's down thirty percent this quarter. We
- 37:50Speaker 2: can talk about all that shit, my nigga, and I
- 37:51Speaker 2: know what I'm talking about. We can talk about the
- 37:52Speaker 2: bear market and all that.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Are you reading? So my friends make fun of me.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I still wake up in the morning and I click
- 37:59Speaker 1: on Yahoo dot com and my friends are like, oh, yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 1: you're ridiculous, but you're actually I'm you just trying to
- 38:04Speaker 1: stay a little bit into with the news, or I'll
- 38:06Speaker 1: go on Google News.
- 38:08Speaker 2: You don't have a Twitter, huh, I don't beah how
- 38:13Speaker 2: to use my iPhone?
- 38:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, see.
- 38:14Speaker 2: That's why that's why you think you need to go
- 38:15Speaker 2: on Yahoo. If you have Twitter, you wouldn't need that.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Twitter is the news. Twitter is seeing the news. Twitter
- 38:21Speaker 2: is everything you need from CNN, MSNBC, the new X
- 38:25Speaker 2: I see. Yes, yeah, Twitter is my news.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I don't know how do you get the news on there?
- 38:30Speaker 2: Just if you're following people?
- 38:32Speaker 1: Okay, so that's how you're keeping up.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 3: If it wasn't for Twitter, I wouldn't know.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Shit.
- 38:36Speaker 3: I never type in Yahoo. My my email is still y'all.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I mean they literally are like, don't need to say
- 38:43Speaker 1: that word.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I still got the Yahoo email address like a hood nigga,
- 38:46Speaker 2: but I'm still got the Yahoo. I ain't switched over,
- 38:49Speaker 2: but nah, I don't actually type Yahoo in my search
- 38:52Speaker 2: bar and go there and look at anything.
- 38:54Speaker 3: It's I I learned damn near everything. Twitter or TikTok
- 38:56Speaker 3: is the news.
- 38:57Speaker 2: You don't need.
- 38:58Speaker 1: So what made you leave Messissippi?
- 39:01Speaker 2: Oh? Because it was just a you know, it was
- 39:03Speaker 2: just a means to end. It was just like, all right, cool,
- 39:06Speaker 2: got it, got what I need from here trying to
- 39:07Speaker 2: get the fuck on I needed.
- 39:09Speaker 1: And your next step was back to Chicago.
- 39:11Speaker 2: No, my next step after I left Mississippi was I
- 39:13Speaker 2: went back to Atlanta real quick, got my bearings, and
- 39:17Speaker 2: then I started Georgia.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I went to Atlanta. This time, I left them niggas
- 39:20Speaker 3: in Georgia.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I went to Atlanta, and then that's when I ended
- 39:23Speaker 2: up doing like little cameos on Uh. I did single Ladies,
- 39:26Speaker 2: I did the Game. I did like a couple commercials
- 39:29Speaker 2: down there in Atlanta. I did the Tyler Perry movie
- 39:31Speaker 2: Meet the Browns down there in Atlanta. Stayed there for
- 39:33Speaker 2: a minute, and then when I got tired of Atlanta again,
- 39:35Speaker 2: I went back to Chicago.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And that's when I got like Empire.
- 39:38Speaker 2: In Chicago, Fire, Chicago PD, all of that shit, a
- 39:42Speaker 2: couple more of other movies, and then yeah, then I
- 39:44Speaker 2: was like Okay. After I felt like I did everything
- 39:47Speaker 2: in Chicago, I was like, bro, I gotta go to La.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I'm tired of these niggas only picking me for some
- 39:52Speaker 2: ship that's one episode, two episodes.
- 39:54Speaker 1: And then like, and you're living off the money, are
- 39:57Speaker 1: you able to lift the money?
- 39:59Speaker 2: No? No? No, Like Bro, I was done, did everything
- 40:02Speaker 2: from unscammed so weed, I undrove dope across you know.
- 40:09Speaker 3: I did everything to try to make money, and even when.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I came while you were enough to like suffice or
- 40:16Speaker 1: was it that it was enough to suffice and you
- 40:17Speaker 1: weren't managing your money?
- 40:18Speaker 3: Well, no, it wasn't.
- 40:20Speaker 2: It wasn't enough to suffice because at this time when
- 40:22Speaker 2: all of that was happening, I wasn't even smart enough
- 40:24Speaker 2: or knew better, because when you know better, you do better.
- 40:26Speaker 2: I didn't know better to have like an LLC escorp.
- 40:30Speaker 2: And I always said that because this was then, and
- 40:32Speaker 2: I always said that I was never gonna try to
- 40:34Speaker 2: play that game unless I was a series regular, because
- 40:37Speaker 2: if not, what's the point. What's the point of trying
- 40:39Speaker 2: to cut corners if they're only paying you three thousand anyway,
- 40:42Speaker 2: like nigga, just let the taxes get taken out, going
- 40:44Speaker 2: about your business.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Now looking back, and you said you would you have
- 40:47Speaker 1: done the escorp sooner.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Or no, I wouldn't have, but I probably would have
- 40:51Speaker 2: managed it a little better. But it wasn't much like
- 40:54Speaker 2: during those days. Yeah, during those days, No, I'm just
- 40:57Speaker 2: getting little co stars, a little guest star, little something
- 41:00Speaker 2: like that. You can't live off.
- 41:02Speaker 1: That was it enough to keep you going and not quit?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Or was there every points where you thought about quitting.
- 41:07Speaker 3: No, I never thought about quitting.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I thought I thought like, God, damn, what am I
- 41:12Speaker 2: doing a couple of times, and that's when I said,
- 41:14Speaker 2: like that crisis kind of hit in because at that time,
- 41:17Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm seeing everybody that went to high school
- 41:19Speaker 2: with them, niggas.
- 41:20Speaker 3: They went to college, they got.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Degrees, they either had kids or they getting married, or
- 41:24Speaker 2: they bought a house.
- 41:25Speaker 3: These niggas got cars and minds.
- 41:26Speaker 2: You nigga, I'm I'm cout surfing carless, suspended license, ain't
- 41:31Speaker 2: got no money like I'm nigga. I'm stealing out of
- 41:34Speaker 2: Walgreens and stealing cigarettes out of gas stations and shit,
- 41:37Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, what am I doing? Yeah, y'all niggas
- 41:40Speaker 2: is like starting over all trying to pursue this one
- 41:43Speaker 2: dream all because I want to be an actor and
- 41:44Speaker 2: I'm just not trying to go get a job because
- 41:46Speaker 2: I ain't never want to get stuck in it. So
- 41:48Speaker 2: for me, that that was, Yeah, that was what it was.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Did you ever get I like to call it like
- 41:53Speaker 1: high on your own supply in regards to like when
- 41:55Speaker 1: you book a gig where you like, man, I'm.
- 41:57Speaker 2: The man, like you know you Oh you just never
- 42:00Speaker 2: kept it.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yeah no, never, bro, you feel like that's not the goal,
- 42:03Speaker 1: is the series regular or the bigger The goal until.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I got a series regular was to get a series regular,
- 42:09Speaker 2: and now once I got a series regular, it's to
- 42:11Speaker 2: get my own show or lead in the feature like
- 42:14Speaker 2: it's gonna always keep going. But yeah, no, it was
- 42:17Speaker 2: never enough to be like, oh I'm the man, like
- 42:20Speaker 2: it was enough to show me like it gave me
- 42:23Speaker 2: those pieces like a nigga, you're not crazy, you're not delusional,
- 42:27Speaker 2: like you really can do this shit? All right? Cool?
- 42:29Speaker 1: And you had agents, I'm sure yeah, were there was
- 42:31Speaker 1: there anyone in particular that was in your ear like, look,
- 42:34Speaker 1: don't be looking at cause I think like this, And
- 42:37Speaker 1: I was telling Mark behind the camera or this like
- 42:40Speaker 1: it's hard I think even for me now when I
- 42:43Speaker 1: see like, Okay, this person has success or or this
- 42:46Speaker 1: is the genre that's getting the attention is what I'm doing.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Maybe maybe this isn't the time or place. Maybe I
- 42:53Speaker 1: should pause. Do you have Did you have someone when
- 42:55Speaker 1: you were kind of possibly going through thoughts in your
- 42:58Speaker 1: mind that was constantly like do not quit, like and
- 43:01Speaker 1: who was that person?
- 43:02Speaker 2: For you. Oh yeah, bro, I had like pretty much
- 43:08Speaker 2: all my friends was like that, and like I've been
- 43:11Speaker 2: like that my whole life because I think I've been
- 43:13Speaker 2: acting for so long that I was the one, especially
- 43:16Speaker 2: in Chicago, because because Chicago.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Is real like gang culture, you know.
- 43:20Speaker 2: So even when I was in high school, everybody used
- 43:22Speaker 2: to like look at me and tell everybody else, like, hey, bro,
- 43:25Speaker 2: y'all leave hard bought the fuck Alan man like he
- 43:28Speaker 2: with us, Like y'all don't nobody fuck, Like, couldn't nobody
- 43:31Speaker 2: fuck with me? And I was like one of the
- 43:33Speaker 2: only people who could. I could be over here with
- 43:35Speaker 2: this gang and then be over there with this gang,
- 43:38Speaker 2: and then be over there with the Mexican gang, and
- 43:40Speaker 2: they all fuck with me because I'm the actor nigga.
- 43:42Speaker 2: So it was like everybody kind of took on that responsibility.
- 43:45Speaker 2: It's kind of like when there's a good basketball player
- 43:47Speaker 2: football player in the hood and the whole neighborhood is like, boy,
- 43:50Speaker 2: you better get your ass, stop hanging with them, Go
- 43:53Speaker 2: go there, go to practice, go do this.
- 43:55Speaker 3: So like for me, it was like a community thing.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Ever, everybody did that because they like, nigga, were you
- 44:00Speaker 2: you from the hood, You in a movie, bro you.
- 44:04Speaker 2: It was kind of sometimes felt like a double life,
- 44:06Speaker 2: Like I'll be riding around in a car, car spicy
- 44:08Speaker 2: as hell, four five niggas that I probably should be
- 44:11Speaker 2: in a car with niggas probably got guns and whatever
- 44:13Speaker 2: else in the car, smoking, chilling. I get a phone call,
- 44:16Speaker 2: that's my agent.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I'm like, Yo, nigga, shut the fuck U shut fuck up,
- 44:18Speaker 3: shut the fu try shot off. Nigas, shup the fuck off.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Turn the fucking shit off. Niggas heard the fuck wad
- 44:37Speaker 3: beat your mother fucking ast.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Hey, Hey, hey Amy, how are you? Yeah? Yeah, no,
- 44:42Speaker 2: everything's fine. Sorry sorry sorry, hold on, let me roll
- 44:44Speaker 2: the window up. Yeah yeah, uh three point thirty ten
- 44:49Speaker 2: West Tyber Sure sure, sure, yeah, all be there, Okay,
- 44:51Speaker 2: I'll check my email. I'm ready, all right, bye, all right.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Nigga's god, damn nigga you play your.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Did they ever like mimick you? Because I feel like
- 44:58Speaker 1: if I was in that car and be like, okay, Amy, like.
- 45:03Speaker 2: The cold switch was crazy y back then it was crazy.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Let me roll the window up.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, I can't, I can't really hear you.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I'm honestly, I'm getting a bad signal.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I think the area why you and your mom like
- 45:19Speaker 1: prepared you for this. But like your switch up game was,
- 45:22Speaker 1: it's remarkable.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I wasn't even really trying there, Nigga, don't let me.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Get to the way you did the switch up. You
- 45:29Speaker 1: painted that scene and then literally answered that call like that's.
- 45:34Speaker 3: How that's literally that shit used to happen so much.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Like I'm talking about, bro, we listened in the Gucci
- 45:38Speaker 2: man fucking whatever riding in the middle West Side Chicago
- 45:41Speaker 2: through the hoods agent call shut.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Now, when you deal with your agents, are you able
- 45:47Speaker 1: to show all of you? Or do you still have
- 45:49Speaker 1: to be you know, white?
- 45:52Speaker 2: Well, now, I'm so lucky. I got so lucky and
- 45:54Speaker 2: so blessed. My manager. He's white and Jewish and dope,
- 45:58Speaker 2: and he's one of my best friends. And he's one
- 46:00Speaker 2: of my best friends. That's what I'm saying, so like
- 46:02Speaker 2: with him, I mean, that's still I guess certain things
- 46:05Speaker 2: because I ain't I ain't stupid, So there's still certain
- 46:07Speaker 2: things that I just ain't gonna say to him. But
- 46:09Speaker 2: I'm comfortable enough to say whatever, Like I text nigga
- 46:12Speaker 2: to my white manager.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Really, yes, I do that. My white family sometimes just
- 46:17Speaker 1: to see I do it all the time, Like I do.
- 46:20Speaker 3: It all the time.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Like I'll be like, uh yeah, no, no more nigga
- 46:23Speaker 2: movies for me, That's what I tell him. I'll be like,
- 46:24Speaker 2: I'm like, I did one nigga movie this year. That's enough.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Like I can't, I can't do anymore, Like you know
- 46:28Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Like I say things like that to him,
- 46:31Speaker 2: Like and then my my agent, I actually have a
- 46:33Speaker 2: black agent. I'm with AP A. Well now they change
- 46:36Speaker 2: their name to I A G. But uh it was APA.
- 46:39Speaker 2: They just changed their name. But my point person is
- 46:41Speaker 2: a black man, so like me and that we on
- 46:46Speaker 2: the phone line, I'm like, bro, don't don't play with me, bro,
- 46:48Speaker 2: Like that's what I'm talking to him, Like, bro so
- 46:50Speaker 2: playing with me? Bro, Like that's why I talk to
- 46:52Speaker 2: my agent at APA like, bro, don't don't don't play
- 46:54Speaker 2: with me? Bro.
- 46:56Speaker 1: So do you feel like in the industry when it
- 46:59Speaker 1: comes to the black actors and actresses, do you feel
- 47:01Speaker 1: like there's like there's that group that they kind of
- 47:05Speaker 1: rotate through and then maybe if one falls out, then
- 47:08Speaker 1: they slide. Like the opportunities are I want to say,
- 47:11Speaker 1: more limited and kind of like this is the group
- 47:14Speaker 1: that the industry supports and this and if one of
- 47:16Speaker 1: these guys mess up, maybe they'll be room.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure for show. I believe that's how
- 47:20Speaker 2: it goes. But I also I also am kind of
- 47:23Speaker 2: like for as pessimistic as I am, I'm also kind
- 47:27Speaker 2: of the same amount of optimistic.
- 47:29Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, If that makes sense.
- 47:30Speaker 1: You actually don't come off pessimistic.
- 47:34Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 47:35Speaker 3: I kind of am, but I'm not.
- 47:36Speaker 1: You know, you just try very hard to keep it
- 47:39Speaker 1: even killed. It's almost like someone that doesn't want to
- 47:41Speaker 1: get their hopes up to get it popped exactly.
- 47:43Speaker 2: And I've been let down so much. I've been on
- 47:45Speaker 2: so many shows that got canceled or pilots that didn't
- 47:47Speaker 2: get picked up and all, like I just chill now,
- 47:49Speaker 2: like it just is what it is until the Ink Drive.
- 47:51Speaker 3: None of this shit is real. That's how I feel.
- 47:53Speaker 2: So I just what was your original question?
- 47:56Speaker 1: Damn, I don't remember.
- 47:59Speaker 3: I just forget that quick.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I just forgot.
- 48:01Speaker 3: But Chili Dogs, gzz Glizzies and.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Glizzies was good. Damn you should have never mentioned the Glizzies. Man,
- 48:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna name your episode Glizzy Time.
- 48:14Speaker 2: No, we can't do that. I can't be a part
- 48:15Speaker 2: of the Glazy Time episode.
- 48:18Speaker 1: You really won't let me do it.
- 48:19Speaker 2: I can't be a part of it. I can't say
- 48:20Speaker 2: g Lizzy Time episode is crazy.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I don't Glizzie dog. I think that's why worse.
- 48:24Speaker 2: I don't know. That's crazy being able to google Christy
- 48:28Speaker 2: Lofting and Glizzy together and something pops up. It's crazy.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I don't want. I don't. I don't want that in
- 48:32Speaker 2: my life.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Be a good meme.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Just going like hell no, no, I was saying.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I think what I was trying to find out is
- 48:42Speaker 1: if there was like is the way the industry works?
- 48:45Speaker 1: Is there like little that's what you said, Like, is
- 48:48Speaker 1: there a smaller window opportunities for.
- 48:52Speaker 2: I definitely feel like they got their I call them
- 48:55Speaker 2: safe niggas. They got they they got they token safe niggas,
- 48:58Speaker 2: And I felt like that was always my thing. I
- 49:01Speaker 2: always felt like I wasn't the safe nigga, Like I'm
- 49:03Speaker 2: not the I'm not the most handsome nigga with the
- 49:06Speaker 2: dimples and the pretty pearly white teeth with no tattoos,
- 49:08Speaker 2: no piercings and shit, like I get it. I'm not
- 49:11Speaker 2: the safest nigga. Like you know what I'm saying, Like
- 49:13Speaker 2: I always use the example my boy Mike B. Jordan
- 49:16Speaker 2: is safe.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Yeah I was. I was gonna say. Sometimes there are
- 49:19Speaker 1: some people, like there's the upper coomer that shout out
- 49:22Speaker 1: to Ron Taylor like no one really knows about him,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but I in the back of my mind it sounds
- 49:26Speaker 1: really messed up, and I'm like, he's that safe nigga
- 49:29Speaker 1: that like he could get a lot of book rolls
- 49:32Speaker 1: because there's like the unfortunately for black men you have.
- 49:36Speaker 1: You know, the the world has painted black men in
- 49:39Speaker 1: such a and such an image that I feel like
- 49:42Speaker 1: when it comes to block booking black man, you have
- 49:45Speaker 1: you have your ones that look unsafe and the ones
- 49:48Speaker 1: that look safe, and the ones that look and when
- 49:51Speaker 1: I say safe, it's literally like the stereotypical imagine what
- 49:54Speaker 1: a white person would be comfortable sitting at their table.
- 49:56Speaker 1: That's what I mean when I say safe, not like,
- 50:00Speaker 1: you know, like unsafe would be you know, the black
- 50:03Speaker 1: guy that you imagine with the white girl's daughter and
- 50:05Speaker 1: he's like, oh, you know, like it's I'm trying to
- 50:08Speaker 1: get everyone that's not black to understand. Yeah, but I
- 50:12Speaker 1: do feel like when I see a black guy in
- 50:14Speaker 1: the industry pursuing acting or comedy or whatever, and I'm like,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, that one could definitely book a lot
- 50:20Speaker 1: of roles because he looks like safe. He's not.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he's safe, the pearly white TV dimples.
- 50:26Speaker 1: And then you get and then you and those guys,
- 50:28Speaker 1: I feel like, I don't know if they get booked
- 50:30Speaker 1: more because they appear safe. Also off camera, are they
- 50:34Speaker 1: like more politically correct?
- 50:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it'd be all of that. But at
- 50:38Speaker 2: the same time, sometimes they be good, but sometimes they don't.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Like So that's what I mean by I'm like, I
- 50:42Speaker 2: try not to be as pessimistic as optimistic, but it's
- 50:46Speaker 2: like sometimes a lot of these people do get the
- 50:48Speaker 2: jobs because they're just safer choices.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying, and your choice is
- 50:52Speaker 1: off camera, you mean, or safe both.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Even on camera on screen because a lot of times,
- 50:57Speaker 2: a lot of times the casting director or the douce
- 51:00Speaker 2: or the director or writer may want you, the unsafe nigga,
- 51:04Speaker 2: They might want me, But the studio on the network
- 51:07Speaker 2: who got to sign the check to provide the funds
- 51:10Speaker 2: for this project is like I don't know, and he's
- 51:16Speaker 2: like a no, not a household name either. So if
- 51:19Speaker 2: you take two niggas who are not household names, make
- 51:22Speaker 2: them even in that regard, but one is safe and
- 51:24Speaker 2: one is it and you got to invest your money.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And it's it's based on the look safe or is
- 51:28Speaker 1: it based on the way they carry themselves.
- 51:31Speaker 3: It's a combination.
- 51:32Speaker 2: You're to be like, hello, yeah, it's a combination of both.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Because like I know, like every time you testing for
- 51:37Speaker 2: a role or you're getting real close, they call it testing.
- 51:40Speaker 3: You made it to that step of the audition process.
- 51:42Speaker 2: My agents are always called me and they be like, hey,
- 51:45Speaker 2: be careful whatever you're posting, maybe on your story this week,
- 51:49Speaker 2: because you know, Business Affairs is.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah, He's like, yeah, whatever, hey this week.
- 51:56Speaker 2: You know we're close, we're close on that thing, so
- 51:58Speaker 2: be be careful what you're posting because Business of already
- 52:00Speaker 2: reached out and they're on and out contracts, and that's
- 52:03Speaker 2: when they be having like their securities department and team
- 52:06Speaker 2: like scrubbing our social medias, like they scrub them shits.
- 52:11Speaker 2: People think they don't they scrub them shits up for
- 52:15Speaker 2: these roles. Bro, They scrubbing them. They definitely scrubbing them.
- 52:18Speaker 2: So like that's so.
- 52:19Speaker 1: That's what I mean through there and then and damn,
- 52:23Speaker 1: that's gotta be a get hard for comics that are
- 52:25Speaker 1: trying to get into comedy too, I mean getting into acting,
- 52:29Speaker 1: because they probably put that stuff up. That's like a
- 52:31Speaker 1: little crazy.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they scrubbing.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I'm half Jewish and half Jamaican. When I started my
- 52:38Speaker 1: first company, it was a magazine shout outs to the
- 52:41Speaker 1: Nick Cannon. We were partners for like ten years. I
- 52:45Speaker 1: remember my grandfather when I first moved from New York.
- 52:48Speaker 1: He w'd always it was go to me, now, Coleen,
- 52:51Speaker 1: when you get out there, just whatever you do, don't
- 52:53Speaker 1: speak that you bonics and like that was his thing.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Like I'd be like, grand but don't worry, like you know,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I know how to turn it on and all.
- 53:00Speaker 2: You know.
- 53:01Speaker 1: You know, I just talk like this to secretly make
- 53:03Speaker 1: you all uncomfortable.
- 53:04Speaker 2: You know.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Sometimes they get a high just from making them like uncomfortable.
- 53:08Speaker 2: That's what I always tell people. I said, I'm smarter
- 53:10Speaker 2: than I look. I just dressed this way. Yeah.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But growing up in a black household, your parents are
- 53:15Speaker 1: constantly preparing you for when you're getting hated on for
- 53:19Speaker 1: no reason, constantly forgiving and you know, making sure that
- 53:23Speaker 1: you're so above par that there's no room for error.
- 53:28Speaker 1: And even when I work with clients, and I definitely
- 53:32Speaker 1: try my hardest, when I'm spending white people money to
- 53:36Speaker 1: book more black people, I'm always like, y'all can't show
- 53:38Speaker 1: up late because one we're gonna look related and they're
- 53:41Speaker 1: gonna think I'm hugging up the homies. Right technically I am,
- 53:46Speaker 1: but you know, but you know, we don't. We don't
- 53:49Speaker 1: have an opportunity. We don't have two chances. We only
- 53:51Speaker 1: have one. So if you show up late, or you
- 53:55Speaker 1: look out of place, so you smell a certain way,
- 53:57Speaker 1: like that's it. All of a sudden, those white people
- 53:59Speaker 1: are so uncomfortable. They're like, can you send us out
- 54:02Speaker 1: to bed and get us some more options? And you know,
- 54:05Speaker 1: you send an invoice over and it's like, well, is
- 54:07Speaker 1: it really supposed to be this amount?
- 54:09Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 54:10Speaker 1: And so you know, I understand the gig, but I
- 54:13Speaker 1: just remember, you know, for years, my grandfather being so
- 54:16Speaker 1: scared that when I wasn't with him, I was going
- 54:18Speaker 1: to speak you bonys far from real for real, But
- 54:23Speaker 1: but I get that game. But I was always curious,
- 54:25Speaker 1: like as far as an actor, like that's gotta be frustrating.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I like the way, uh I saw a club of
- 54:31Speaker 1: Gabrielle Union, Like how the black women in the industry
- 54:34Speaker 1: kind of started sticking together mm hm and they would
- 54:36Speaker 1: be like, okay, cool, I have to turn down this
- 54:38Speaker 1: role for this price, and they all started sticking together
- 54:41Speaker 1: and that brought their value up. Do the black men
- 54:44Speaker 1: do the same, uh?
- 54:47Speaker 2: I don't you know. I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know
- 54:49Speaker 2: if they do that. But I feel like I got
- 54:50Speaker 2: a like strong little band and team of brothers that
- 54:53Speaker 2: I feel like when one when one rises, we lifting,
- 54:57Speaker 2: you know. And I don't know as far as like
- 54:59Speaker 2: they standing in solidarity as far as like they money,
- 55:03Speaker 2: Like hey, my boy only making da da da da
- 55:05Speaker 2: da and he's making da da da da da. I
- 55:08Speaker 2: think they would, and I know they do when they're
- 55:10Speaker 2: on the same projects, like I know they do, Like
- 55:13Speaker 2: if it's if it's two black dudes and yeah, I'm
- 55:15Speaker 2: making this amount, but you're only making this they will,
- 55:18Speaker 2: But I don't think they're giving a damn, Like if
- 55:20Speaker 2: you're doing your own movies and shows and I make
- 55:22Speaker 2: this much, but you make that over there, because that's
- 55:24Speaker 2: all subjective and it's all relative.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Do you ever feel like you can fully be comfortable
- 55:29Speaker 1: on sets or do you still feel like, Okay.
- 55:33Speaker 3: I'm comfortable.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I'm comfortable on sets, but they're still Like I said,
- 55:37Speaker 2: there's still just certain it's a time and place for everything.
- 55:39Speaker 2: There's still certain shit. I'm not gonna do certain shit.
- 55:41Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say certain niggas. Can't come. No, you
- 55:44Speaker 2: can't come home, can't come on set. Yeah, you can't
- 55:47Speaker 2: come on set. You're not coming to my trailer. No, no, no,
- 55:50Speaker 2: like you know what I'm saying. So I feel like
- 55:53Speaker 2: just a dose of Chris is enough. They don't need,
- 55:55Speaker 2: they don't need the added extra invited niggas. Just one
- 55:58Speaker 2: nigg enough. Let me know I'm cool, and I just
- 56:02Speaker 2: feel like, yeah, I can be myself. But it's just
- 56:06Speaker 2: still time and place for everything. Certain shit I ain't
- 56:08Speaker 2: gonna do.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Now. The first time you book your first series regular,
- 56:12Speaker 1: take me back to the exact moment that tell me
- 56:15Speaker 1: the whole scene, tell me the whole feeling, the thoughts
- 56:18Speaker 1: leading up to when you booked it.
- 56:20Speaker 2: My first series regular, I won't forget it. I was
- 56:25Speaker 2: at the Columbia Records Building. They were having a party
- 56:31Speaker 2: in the back or whatever, the Columbia Records Building. I
- 56:33Speaker 2: remember Migos was on stage performing and my agent called
- 56:37Speaker 2: to tell me that I booked that series regular and
- 56:40Speaker 2: I had to go to Vancouver for like two months
- 56:43Speaker 2: to film the shit. What was the name of it
- 56:45Speaker 2: it was called at the time, it was called The Mission.
- 56:48Speaker 2: It was a cop show on ABC. I was playing
- 56:50Speaker 2: a cop, me and Wood Harris like he was like
- 56:53Speaker 2: playing my lieutenant.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Sorry, I have a weird crush on him. Since I
- 56:56Speaker 1: was like twelve, Yeah, since I was.
- 56:57Speaker 2: A little girl, I'm gonna show you a picture of me.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Crush, Like, he doesn't even look like a guy you
- 57:03Speaker 1: would have a weird crush on. But since I was
- 57:04Speaker 1: like nine, i'd be like, yo, he's so hot and
- 57:07Speaker 1: I would be like, what's wrong with you?
- 57:09Speaker 2: What that guy? Man?
- 57:11Speaker 1: But I would be a little girl like it's not weird,
- 57:14Speaker 1: but that's a random side note that nobody knows.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. I just I remember getting that call
- 57:19Speaker 2: and I took off running down Hollywood Bullvard like I
- 57:23Speaker 2: got out the party because I couldn't hear I'm like, wait,
- 57:25Speaker 2: what did you say. She was like, you did it, babe,
- 57:27Speaker 2: you booked it, babe. I was like, Susan Stuff fucking
- 57:29Speaker 2: That was my manager at the time, Susan Zachary. I
- 57:31Speaker 2: was like, Susan stuff fucking playing with me. Susan stopped
- 57:33Speaker 2: playing with me. She was like, no, I'm not babe.
- 57:35Speaker 2: If you booked it, babe, I'm so happy for you.
- 57:38Speaker 2: You got it, you got bro. I took off fucking
- 57:40Speaker 2: darting down Hollywood Boulevard just crying. Bro.
- 57:42Speaker 3: That was the first series regular I booked.
- 57:44Speaker 2: I never forget that. And then it was it was the.
- 57:46Speaker 1: First person you called after my mom of course, Yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Yeah, my first person with my mama. Yeah, guy, I
- 57:52Speaker 2: ain't even had no girl at the time. First person
- 57:54Speaker 2: was my mama. That was definitely it.
- 57:57Speaker 3: And then yeah that was that was that man. I
- 57:59Speaker 3: never forget that day, definitely, And I.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Remember because it felt fitting because it was in Hollywood
- 58:05Speaker 2: on the Walk of Fame, and I was like, bro,
- 58:07Speaker 2: I'm at the Capitol Records Building at an event getting
- 58:11Speaker 2: a call about I was like, I felt like an
- 58:12Speaker 2: actor in that moment. I was like, bro, I'm watching
- 58:14Speaker 2: migos perform at some private Spotify party, get a phone
- 58:17Speaker 2: call from my agent eight nine o'clock at night, tell
- 58:20Speaker 2: me I just bood a series regular on an ABC
- 58:22Speaker 2: show and I got to move to Vancouver next week.
- 58:26Speaker 2: I was like, I felt like a fucking actor. Like, yeah,
- 58:28Speaker 2: it's only certain things that make me. It'd be certain
- 58:31Speaker 2: moments where I felt like an actor actor. I think
- 58:33Speaker 2: there's been three times in my life where I was like, nigga,
- 58:35Speaker 2: I feel like an actor, and that was one of them.
- 58:37Speaker 2: The other one was I booked that same show that
- 58:41Speaker 2: I was in Vancouver doing. I was on Ballers at
- 58:44Speaker 2: the time. So once Ballers found out that I booked
- 58:47Speaker 2: a series regular and I wasn't a series regular on Ballers,
- 58:49Speaker 2: I was just a recurring guest star. Then it was
- 58:52Speaker 2: like HBO and ABC was having like a dick measuring
- 58:55Speaker 2: contest about basically who owns my black ass. It was funny.
- 58:58Speaker 2: It was like kind of cool to be a part
- 59:00Speaker 2: of because they was calling each other back and forth
- 59:02Speaker 2: like oh, yeah, well Chris is in Vancouver, Well we
- 59:06Speaker 2: need him in LA and they were like, well, I'm like, bro,
- 59:09Speaker 2: I'm not even in the episode five and they were like,
- 59:12Speaker 2: yeah you are. Then they're going back rewriting. Shit. Now
- 59:14Speaker 2: I'm in episode five. I wasn't even in the episode.
- 59:16Speaker 2: And then they're like, Okay, you can have Chris, but
- 59:19Speaker 2: you can't cut his hair because his hair belongs to us.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Like it was shit, like reason, real conversation and they
- 59:25Speaker 2: was like, you can't cut his hair.
- 59:26Speaker 3: His hair belongs to us.
- 59:27Speaker 2: So I remember, I woke up in Vancouver shooting that
- 59:30Speaker 2: pilot where I was a series regulars. I filmed for
- 59:33Speaker 2: the day and they came as soon as I was
- 59:36Speaker 2: done filming. They took me in the trans bo van
- 59:38Speaker 2: to the airport in Vancouver, flew me back to LA.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I landed in la They picked me up from Lax
- 59:43Speaker 2: in the trans bo van, took me to set a Ballers.
- 59:46Speaker 2: I filmed one scene and then they took me straight
- 59:49Speaker 2: back to the airport in the trans bot van.
- 59:50Speaker 3: To go back to Canada.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I would have felt legit.
- 59:53Speaker 3: I felt like an actor.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I felt like an actor house.
- 59:56Speaker 2: And then yeah, I'm an actor, and then the other
- 59:59Speaker 2: last time I felt like a real actor, and I
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: feel like this, you can never can you really call
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: yourself an actor if you never had sex at the
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Soho House. I just feel like, yeah, Soho house, you
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: you got to get free, get the sold house at
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: least once.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: If you makes you, I feel like, why is that?
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I just it's just my thing.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: I can't speak for everybody else.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I don't know who else feels as well. You don't
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: know what the so Ho Bless your heart. See you
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: one of the good ones. You are one of the
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: good ones. See women like you deserve the world. You
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: don't even know. You don't even know what highlight room is?
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Do you feel No, that's great? These are good things.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: You don't know where it is. You don't know what
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Berrys is. Do you know what Berryes is? Yes? Oh
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: my god, you're somebody's wife. You just need to go
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: ahead and get married. Get the hell out of California.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: I don't know that that's a great thing. You don't
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: know what Soho house is. You don't know what Berry's is.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: That means you don't know what Habibi's is. You don't
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: know what highlight room is. All the places where the
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: hose go you don't know where it is. And that's great.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Oh that's where the hose go. You mean the hot girls,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I mean the house, I mean the house.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Actually, sometimes they hot holes, but they hose nonetheless.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Oh are those like strip clubs?
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: No?
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Okay, so okay, So I don't know where I'm guessing
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: these are either fly spots or whatever. But they're all
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: in l a damn almost be living under a freaking.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Soho house is the vibe. That's the little members only
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: you know, so you've heard, you've heard of sound. It's
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: the little members only ship for entertainers. It's like a
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: restaurant mall.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I'm not in. I am not in the membership just
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: o case y'all thought I was cool or in, I'm
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: officially not now. I'm definitely google so whole house. I'm
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: whole house. I know, I've heard, I heard it.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I got to be a member.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I gotta get a membership or you have to.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Be with somebody who is a member, and you can
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: be that guest.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: But otherwise, you know, you can't.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: You can't just walk in like that, got it?
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Yeah? But yeah, I just feel like, you know, they
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: got a nice little theater room in there with like
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: the beds and ship that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Wait, how are you able to have sex in there?
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Hey? That's a way. I'm here to tell you that.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: So that's why I'm here to tell you.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: That's why I say you ain't really an actor? How
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: how deep are you in this actor ship? If you
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: ain't did that before, I'm going to And it's got
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: to be the Beverly Hills one on, it don't count.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: If it ain't the we Hole on, it don't count.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: I feel like it's the one you know where? What's it?
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: What steak house? Is that Boa? Is that it's in
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: the building that is in It's right behind Boa where
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: that parking garage.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I've ever been in there, that's
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: what does. Yes, I think I've been there.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Not a rooftop, but it's got a roof area.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: It's like like you have to go up.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You know, I've never been there. I'm not even gonna
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: try and pretend I ain't cool enough yet. But yet
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: is the key word. I don't know if I'm ever
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: going to have sex in the soul. I don't think
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: that will ever be off my bucket list.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I mean, you know, you know the actress nor was
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: an actor.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: What if I wanted to be an actress?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Though?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Then you have to have sex in the h feel legit? No,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: it's a woman.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: No, no, no, as a woman. No, that's crazy. But
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: I'm just saying I get it. You know, you don't
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: have to have those aspirations. And I'm not telling other
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: actors to have those aspirations. I'm just talking about for
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: me because I'm a little crazy.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: So you you was legit after you had sex in
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: the Soho House.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Not necessarily saying that I was legit, but in that
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: moment I really felt like an actor. And the reason
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: why is because I just left set a snowfall, like
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: we were just so happened to be filmings right by
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Soho House. And then I was with my cast mate
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: and we, like damn bro were about to rap early.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: I didn't think we was gonna be done this early.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: And he was like, nigger, we close to sol. You
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: want to go to Soho House? And he was like yeah,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: and he's like, man, I'm to tell a couple holes
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: to pull up the so house. And I was like,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: this is beautiful, let's go. The d get are crazy,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: But the only crazy dms are from the undesirables. It's
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: never the it's never the bad ones who're gonna say
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: some wild ship. It's the one I wouldn't touch anyway
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: of course she has the balls to say some wild
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: ship because I would never you know what I'm saying, Yeah,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: but I would never. So it's like good for you,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: but but but yeah, like no, So to me, I
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: just feel like because of the different walks of life.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Like like I said, I did the star of the
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: football baseball team, I was that guy. I was the
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: in the streets and girls like that little hood.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: It's not it doesn't trip you up at all.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Nah nah. And I was in a relationship for three
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: and a half years. So the whole time I've been
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: on Power, I was in a relationship. I'm just now
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: getting single. So like some now.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Relations welcome to freedom, right, Nigga, tell me about it?
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Tell me about for real that man, Like that's what
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: I'm like Jesus, like what like I said.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: So, the whole time I've been on Power, filming it
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: on TV everything, I've been in a relationship.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: This is my first time being single and we do strike.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: So Lord, now, speaking of the strike, I just want
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: to touch on it really briefly. How have you been
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: dealing with that and how has it been affecting.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: You dealing with it? Oh? Man, it's never in in
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: battle for show. But I'm trying to just stay busy.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: That's why I'm over here. I was talking to you
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: like a crazy person about my boyfriend kn't cook. I'm like,
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: oh yeah, and then I'm gonna do this and I'm
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: gonna do this.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Came up with it during the strike.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, during the strike. We've been on strike since April.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I love the idea.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, like, that's what I like. So I've
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: been doing it like that and writing. I directed my
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Homies music video, I'm directing more, I'm writing more. I'm
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: just trying to stay.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Busy and stay creative. And then your pockets like hurting?
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Are you?
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Oh? Hell yeah? Business are in existent.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: At this literally talking about like actors going to get
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: real jobs now, have you considered it?
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Hell no?
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Just like it ain't that deep?
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Luckily, luckily for me number one, I always said I
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: said this. When the strike happened, I said, oh well,
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: thank god, I was only a nigga with my money
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: and not a nigger with my money. Huh. I only
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: did I only did some nigga things with my money.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: I ain't do like I would enact like a nigger.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Strong r I didn't do that, and like yeah, no, no, no,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: no no, Like I'm on buying rolexes and bust downs,
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: like I bought this rolex with Tesla options. See, niggas
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: wouldn't think that, they would think Power did this. Like, no, nigga,
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I sold. I sold a couple of Tesla options and
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: bottle rolex like.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: You were moving, you were very good with your money.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I didn't even buy a car, my nigga,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: because I was always like the whole time filming Power,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, which one of these scripts I'm gonna
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: open and Gen is dead? I'm like So I was
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: always like, is that how it happens?
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: When they kill?
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: You? Don't know? They tell you like an episode before,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: like if you die in episode seven while you filming
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: episode six, they'll call you like, hey, such and such
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: wants to meet with you.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: They're gonna be called you You're about to die next episode.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Fuck. So I was just waiting on that. I lived
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: my whole Jesus I would in that space, so like nigga,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: So I'm not spending money thinking like bro, this might
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: be the last one.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Bro.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: They probably gonna kill Gnor And they got me being
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: the villain. I'm like, oh, hell no, I'm probably gonna die.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Let me save these checks.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: So you save and invest and then you yeah, guessing
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: you live on a strict budget.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: I'm cheap. I ain't gonna say I live on a
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: strict budget because I do a lot of things that
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: are not conducive of being cheap and frugal I do.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Why do you say cheap? I hate that. I know
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: a lot of people do business smark, No, I wouldn't
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: say that. That's example, like like the Oscar Meyer example
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: you gave, Like.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, that's cheap.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: That's how you are.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Yes, Like, I'm not buying that. And I don't give
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: a damn if I got three hundred thousand on my account.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I'm not buying that.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: You're hilarious.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I'm not. But I will spend two three hundred dollars
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: on weed every two days. I do stupid shit like that.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm not You got the nigga, but the nigga.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. Like you get it now,
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Like I'm like, I'm not buying I've never bought a
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: first class that's flight with my own money. Really don't
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: do it. I refuse.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: I don't mind, nigga, I don't mind being a nigga
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: in seventeen C.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: That's okay with me because I know when I get
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: off this plane, I guarantee about eighty five percent of
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: your niggas on this plane are not about to have
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: the time I'm gonna have when I get off. I'm
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: gonna see you same niggas who sitting in seat two
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: A standing in line that Dres can't get in while
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: I'm walking in.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: You're hilarious.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: I'll seat eighteen D just walking past two A. Look
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: at you trying to wave. Hey you sit at the
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: guy that we were on the plane with. Yeah, bitch,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: hey two A. I'm in here though.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: I'll tell you this, I don't. I have a two
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: year old I recently obviously it's two. She's two years old.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: And what I've learned in my short time of being
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: a mom is that when you're under high stress situations.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Now I'm all about if I travel with baby, it
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: has to be the most comfortable situation because it makes
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: my patience last.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Okay, you know what I'm saying, Like, like, if she.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Has a some crazy something going wrong, I'm like, you
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: know what yeah, I'm in comfort. Uncomfortable. It just heightens
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: the situation. So now I'm like, AMX delta points da
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: da da, like make sure that if she is with me,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: comfort is the key. And I used to even when
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: I travel to like New York, I'm about to go
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: there soon, I used to be like, Okay, who am
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I staying with? Who's car? Can I borrow? Now I'm like, look,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: we're all adults. If you don't really like house guests,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: that's okay. I'd rather have a relationship with you than
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: leave your enemy, you know exact, Rather sleep and comfort,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: it's worth peace. And now I'm like at the point
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: where I used to be super cheap. Right now, I'm like,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: you know what, it's cheap, but it's also like peace
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: of mind. Trump's cheap now yeah, no.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Definitely definite peace of mind. So I'll pay, I'll pay
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: to have a piece of mind. But it's just certain
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: shit I'm just not gonna do. And then I've been
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: spoiled by so much, like people buy my flights, I'm not.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: I can't imagine spending my own money on that shit.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Like you like no, no, no, Like, so you're not
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: booking this for me?
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Like I gotta do this.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I'm not like get that.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: That's why I don't buy bottle service, because like I
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: get paid to go to the club thousands of dollars.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: So it's like you want me to wait in line
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: and give you money, yeah, and pay for a bottle
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: get that and take my hat off, Like no, nigga,
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: I'll walk through the back and y'all give me five
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: to ten thousand just for being here, Like no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: I understand. I can never. I can't imagine, Like it's like, yeah,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: so like I don't fuck with none of that.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: I understand. There was a point where Chipotle sponsored my
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: magazine for like years, and I would get like free
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Chipotle cards and like stacks of them. They were like
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: little baseball cards. I give them out on tour. But
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: of course all the friends I'd be like, yo, stack
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: for you, stack for you. And then when those cards
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: eventually ran out, nobody when I say none of my
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: friends could ever go to Chipotle again, because they were like,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: we've been eating Chippotle for five years straight. You think
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: we ever gonna buy a burrito exactly ever again? And
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: they were like we can never.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I can never buy that that shit free, bro, Like,
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: that's what fucked me up with. That's why I think
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: that was the hardest thing to get out of. Like
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: when I used to be around all my scammer friends
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: back in Chicago, it was so hard to get back
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: to a life where things actually costed money or your money,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I was like Jesus, like, Nigga,
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: how much were groceries? I was like, Nigga, I'm damn
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: for the call you're getting, brough, can you swipe for this? Like,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: swipe for this shit please?
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Like I get it.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: I forgot how much food calls because I was so
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: used to getting in ubers for free and getting like
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: groceries delivered on Instacar, and all this shit was used
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: to be free back in the day when I was
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: with my scammer friends, and realizing how much the shit
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: costs when you're using your own money.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: It's like Jesus, first of all, every time I go
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: to the grocery store, I'd be flabbergasts that I spend.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Promise you, I spend almost one thousand dollars a month
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: on groceries. Now, I will say this, I do try
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: to avoid everything that has like hormones or that I
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: don't really trust anymore.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: So that's why costs a thousand dollars. So let's tell
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: the truth here.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Okay, first costco toobout buying boat, and I cooked ninety
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: nine percent of my meal. So for all your covers,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: and I know you ain't judged, you spent two to
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: three hundred dollars on weed.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, every two days, that's crazy smoke an ounce of weed.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Every two days, that's I don't know what an ounce
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: of weed looks like. But twenty eight grams, I don't
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: know you speaking in mathematical terms again, I would never
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: know what that looks like. Is that like the Oregonal?
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: The Italian.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Actually looks more like this?
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Oh my god, you are like the greatest homie to
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: be like trapped in a box with. I promise you
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: you you no matter where you are. I'm sure your
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: friends absolutely love spending time with you. You are literally fun.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: You are fun. This is this is probably one of
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: the most fun episodes I've ever had. You are literally
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: like home me from around the way fun. Like I
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: could see I could see someone being broke with.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: You and be like, yeah, put that put that set up.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Let's take those Glizzies. Let's put.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: That's why you couldn't remember the words.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to say, I wanted to say, put
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: that Glizzy in the mouth, man. But how can our
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: listeners and fans keep up with you and just everything
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: you have going on?
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Man? They can keep up with me at Christy Lofton
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: on Instagram this Chris with.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: K none of that ship. I don't do none of

- 1:13:51Speaker 1: really mess with Twitter. I know we have Twitter, but
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: I'm going to go in there. I think I can.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I honestly probably. I'm gonna try and find you on Twitter.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I actually.

- 1:14:05Speaker 2: make sure you get Twitter. It's not literally a thing,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: but if you follow the right people, you are now
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: on the dark side of Twitter, which we refer to
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: as black Twitter.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: What I want to be on black Twitter. It's gotta
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: be lit.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: It's a vibe.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Like Twitter is a place where like when people start
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: sending you memes and ship to your phone on Instagram
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: and all that, and you'd be like, I saw this
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: three days ago because it's on Twitter. You know what
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Like Instagram, they get the ship last. I don't know
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: that ship hit Twitter first.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Like if you if you're on Twitter, you probably knew
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: about the ship everybody's talking about on Thursday.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: We knew about this shit on money.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I want to get you eat a glitz on black Twitter.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: If I get that viral Twitter.

- 1:14:43Speaker 2: It'll be coot, it'll be good for this. It'll be
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: good for this. I will give you that. It'll be
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: good for this. Bad for me?
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Get Why is it gonna be bad? You just get
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: roasted for a little bit. You can handle roasted. Yeah,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: we didn't take so I know.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: You don't wear You don't watch my show because all
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: I do is get roasted. I'm on I'm on Heroin

- 1:15:11Speaker 2: get a haircut this season because I'm on real drugs.
