- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to another Radio Archive Hour from the Hall of
- 0:03Speaker 1: Fame Phil Henry Show at philhenryshow.com and, of course, here
- 0:07Speaker 1: on iHeart Podcast. And we have a show here for
- 0:10Speaker 1: you from 2005. The month was October. The character is
- 0:13Speaker 1: named Galen Hall. We never did this character again. In fact,
- 0:16Speaker 1: this character evolved or morphed into General Galen Hall and
- 0:19Speaker 1: then General Galen Shaw. Very prim and proper and, you know,
- 0:24Speaker 1: sort of officious. But then he became General Galen Shaw,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the guy we know who's just a dude that's retired
- 0:29Speaker 1: and and is cranky and giving everybody a hard time.
- 0:32Speaker 1: So this is kind of the beginning, but it has
- 0:35Speaker 1: nothing to do with our present-day General Shaw. This guy
- 0:38Speaker 1: is a doctor who talks about taking pictures of 5-
- 0:41Speaker 1: to 10-year-old girls as a hobby. He says he's not
- 0:44Speaker 1: doing anything with them, he's not publishing them, he's keeping
- 0:49Speaker 1: them safe. It just happens to be his hobby, and
- 0:52Speaker 1: of course nobody.
- 0:53Speaker 2: But nobody, believes him. We got on the line here
- 0:56Speaker 2: President Galen, I say President Galen Hall, Dr. Galen Hall.
- 0:59Speaker 2: How are you, sir?
- 1:01Speaker 3: I'm doing very well, Phil. I appreciate you having me
- 1:03Speaker 3: on your program this evening. It's a good opportunity to
- 1:07Speaker 3: explain what I've been engaged in here the last several years.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, here is the thumbnail. You take pictures. You were
- 1:16Speaker 2: out at the football game on Saturday afternoon.
- 1:20Speaker 3: It was out at our university football game. We were
- 1:23Speaker 3: playing South Nevada, and I was taking pictures there, as
- 1:29Speaker 3: I do. And I was approached by, got a lot
- 1:32Speaker 3: of dirty looks, Phil. I'll give you the bottom line
- 1:36Speaker 3: on that. And I was not appreciative of that. I'm
- 1:39Speaker 3: an academic. You know me. I'm a college professor. I've
- 1:43Speaker 3: got three honorary doctorates, and it begins to grate on
- 1:48Speaker 3: the nerves and insults an individual to be approached by
- 1:51Speaker 3: a parent to say, why are you taking pictures of
- 1:53Speaker 3: my daughter?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Well, what do you say to them?
- 1:57Speaker 3: I say to them that I am taking these pictures
- 2:00Speaker 3: of your daughter that are for my own personal use.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I'm not going to be putting them on the Internet.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I'm not going to be looking at them in a
- 2:08Speaker 3: lascivious way. I put them in an album. And they
- 2:13Speaker 3: are an artistic, I guess you could say it's a hobby, Phil.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Nothing more than that.
- 2:18Speaker 4: What did the one gentleman say to you? You said
- 2:21Speaker 4: he said something rather specific.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Yeah, well, one of these chaps came up to me
- 2:26Speaker 3: and said, unless I know what it is you want
- 2:28Speaker 3: to do with those pictures, I'd rather that you not
- 2:30Speaker 3: take them of my daughter. And I said to him, well,
- 2:35Speaker 3: that is your right, I suppose, to ask that of me,
- 2:38Speaker 3: but I don't know that I'm legally bound.
- 2:41Speaker 2: All right, I will ask you this, Dr.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Hall.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Why do you take pictures of girls? Now, these are
- 2:46Speaker 2: girls aged what?
- 2:47Speaker 3: These are girls aged anywhere from 5 to 10 years
- 2:50Speaker 3: of age. They are beautiful young ladies. Again, I photographed them,
- 2:58Speaker 3: and I put them on an album. Now, I also
- 3:00Speaker 3: have taken, even though these pictures don't show up on
- 3:03Speaker 3: the Internet, these pictures are not emailed to anyone.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You don't share these with anybody?
- 3:09Speaker 3: No, sir, I don't. I've even taken to, just as
- 3:12Speaker 3: a precaution, even though I don't have to, I take
- 3:15Speaker 3: a little piece of black electrical tape, and I will
- 3:19Speaker 3: put it across the eyes of each one of these girls,
- 3:23Speaker 3: so that even though the photographs are not going on
- 3:26Speaker 3: the Internet, as some of these people will do, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: just as a way of, I suppose... making a promise
- 3:37Speaker 3: to anyone and everyone, I'm just not going to do
- 3:39Speaker 3: anything with these pictures. Now, this chap says to me, well,
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't want you to take a picture of my daughter.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And I said, well, there's really nothing you can do
- 3:46Speaker 3: about it. And I walked away because I didn't want
- 3:49Speaker 3: to engage this guy any longer. Now, I would challenge you,
- 3:53Speaker 3: and I certainly would challenge any one of your listeners, Phil,
- 3:57Speaker 3: how many college professors and college presidents And men with
- 4:04Speaker 3: honorary doctorates and men who have been in the academic
- 4:08Speaker 3: world for over 30 years, how many of them are
- 4:12Speaker 3: perverts who take photographs of little girls and have been
- 4:16Speaker 3: arrested by the police or have been a part of
- 4:19Speaker 3: anything even associated with that? I would dare say I
- 4:23Speaker 3: don't know of any.
- 4:25Speaker 4: But it doesn't mean that it can't happen. Well, it
- 4:27Speaker 4: doesn't mean that it can't happen. It also doesn't mean
- 4:29Speaker 4: that a parent who sees somebody taking a picture... of
- 4:32Speaker 4: their child doesn't get a little squeamish.
- 4:35Speaker 3: This is because we live in a society of suspicious people.
- 4:39Speaker 3: That's not necessarily my fault. You see?
- 4:42Speaker 4: Well, it keeps coming back to this question. Why do
- 4:45Speaker 4: you take pictures of little girls?
- 4:48Speaker 3: You see, I shouldn't really have to answer that question, though,
- 4:51Speaker 3: because it is beside the point. It's irrelevant.
- 4:58Speaker 4: It's simply a hobby that you have. And that's just
- 5:02Speaker 4: all the explaining you want to do?
- 5:04Speaker 3: That's all the explaining I want to do, yes. And
- 5:07Speaker 3: I know that it looks suspicious.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Well, it looks suspicious, Dr. Hall, from a couple of standpoints.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Number one, your wife died when?
- 5:14Speaker 3: Gloria's been gone for three years, Phil.
- 5:16Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Are you saying because I'm a widower, this is even
- 5:22Speaker 3: more inclined to be something that's a lascivious?
- 5:28Speaker 2: Well, no, but I mean a man that lives alone,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and then you go out at the.
- 5:34Speaker 3: This was a football game. It was on our campus.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Okay, so it's on your campus, and you're at the
- 5:39Speaker 4: football game. Now, what did you have, a digital camera
- 5:41Speaker 4: or something?
- 5:42Speaker 3: I had a little digital camera, yes, a Canon. And
- 5:45Speaker 3: I was standing near one of the tailgate areas where
- 5:48Speaker 3: the students and some of the parents get together. And
- 5:50Speaker 3: as you know, there's a lot of the families are there,
- 5:53Speaker 3: and I saw a lot of girls there. And it
- 5:55Speaker 3: was a good opportunity to get some snapshots. All right.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You know, you're not putting them on the Internet. You're
- 6:02Speaker 2: not doing it. You put them in an album?
- 6:04Speaker 3: I save them and put them in a new album, yes.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Do you look at them?
- 6:08Speaker 3: On occasion, yes, I do.
- 6:10Speaker 4: And you say you take a little piece of black
- 6:12Speaker 4: tape and put them over the eyes. Even though no
- 6:14Speaker 4: one's going to see them?
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yes, because let's say, for whatever reason, because we're living
- 6:21Speaker 3: in an increasingly police-style state, the police decided to apprehend
- 6:28Speaker 3: or to confiscate this material. I can show them that
- 6:31Speaker 3: I've got a piece of black electrical tape across the eyes.
- 6:35Speaker 2: So you've got albums and albums of pictures of little girls.
- 6:38Speaker 2: And as you turn page after page, it's little girls
- 6:41Speaker 2: with black electrical tape across their eyes. You don't recognize them.
- 6:44Speaker 3: That is a precautionary move in case police want to
- 6:48Speaker 3: confiscate this. But even if I didn't put the black
- 6:51Speaker 3: electrical tape across the ice, there's nothing in the photographs
- 6:55Speaker 3: that is dirty. It's simply a hobby of mine.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Forgive the question, but they're not in any kind of
- 7:02Speaker 2: a state of undress?
- 7:05Speaker 3: No, it's the clothing that they're wearing.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Okay, can I ask you what kind of clothing that is?
- 7:10Speaker 3: Well, I would love to answer that question, but now
- 7:13Speaker 3: you're going to use that as a wedge into some
- 7:16Speaker 3: kind of an argument that I'm doing something wrong.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm not. What kind of clothing are they wearing?
- 7:21Speaker 3: They're wearing the clothing they were wearing when I took
- 7:23Speaker 3: their picture.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Which is what?
- 7:26Speaker 3: A lot of them are in shorts. A lot of
- 7:28Speaker 3: them are in a bathing suit.
- 7:31Speaker 2: At a football game?
- 7:32Speaker 3: Well, because it was a very hot day yesterday. You see,
- 7:36Speaker 3: but that's beside the point. The point is... I've got
- 7:39Speaker 3: every right in the world to take pictures of little
- 7:41Speaker 3: girls if I'm not putting them on the Internet, if
- 7:45Speaker 3: they're not pornographic, if I'm not sharing them with people,
- 7:48Speaker 3: if I'm not selling them. And I think the suggestion
- 7:52Speaker 3: that I, and again, 30 years in the academic world
- 7:56Speaker 3: would be any part of a kind of Internet pervert
- 8:01Speaker 3: ring is insulting to me. And the father that asked me,
- 8:05Speaker 3: unless I know what you're going to do with those pictures,
- 8:07Speaker 3: I'd rather you not take them, I had every right
- 8:09Speaker 3: in the world to say to him, you know what,
- 8:11Speaker 3: it's none of your business.
- 8:12Speaker 2: All right. The number here, 1-800-449-8686, 1-800-449-8686.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Dr.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Galen Hall from the University of Renmont is with us.
- 8:22Speaker 4: You're the university president there.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Well, I do mostly on the board now, Phil. I'm
- 8:26Speaker 3: not as active as I was, you know, as I'm
- 8:29Speaker 3: getting up in years. But, yes, I'm still active with
- 8:31Speaker 3: the board.
- 8:31Speaker 2: All right. Does this bother you that perhaps the college will...
- 8:36Speaker 2: Has the college said anything to you?
- 8:38Speaker 3: Well, the college doesn't know anything about it, really. It
- 8:40Speaker 3: hasn't been made an issue of. It only started to
- 8:43Speaker 3: be an issue yesterday when this father approached me as
- 8:45Speaker 3: I had the camera there. And I was taking a
- 8:47Speaker 3: picture of his daughter. I wonder why.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So he didn't just want the kid's picture being taken.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Well, he said to me, why are you taking a
- 8:54Speaker 3: picture of her? She's walking away from you. And I said,
- 8:57Speaker 3: it doesn't make any difference. And he said, well, it
- 9:00Speaker 3: does to me. And I said, well... I'm not selling them.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I'm not doing anything with them.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Have you talked to any police officers about this?
- 9:07Speaker 3: No, why would I do that? I don't want to
- 9:10Speaker 3: appear guilty if I'm not guilty. And I am not guilty. And,
- 9:14Speaker 3: you know.
- 9:15Speaker 4: All right, let me get back to my original question.
- 9:17Speaker 4: The university, they haven't heard about this. Do you ever
- 9:19Speaker 4: worry that your hobby is going to get you in
- 9:21Speaker 4: trouble with the school?
- 9:23Speaker 3: Well, Phil, I'm basically beyond retirement age. You know, I've
- 9:27Speaker 3: already sort of passed my full-time tenure... with the university,
- 9:31Speaker 3: so to put it in a nutshell, I don't really care.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I've given my life, my blood, and my sweat to
- 9:37Speaker 3: that school with varying degrees of compensation. Sometimes it seems
- 9:45Speaker 3: like they appreciated it, and other times they just as
- 9:47Speaker 3: soon stick you in a can and leave you on
- 9:49Speaker 3: the street. But I would say that I enjoy that school.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I gave 30 years to the university. It's a prestigious institution.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I've written a great many papers. And I think that
- 10:01Speaker 3: I have done in my life enough good academic work
- 10:05Speaker 3: not to be looked upon as some kind of an
- 10:07Speaker 3: Internet freak who wants to take pictures of little girls
- 10:12Speaker 3: for his kicks. That's not what it's about.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I talked to a guy once that liked to go
- 10:17Speaker 4: to amusement parks by himself. And there was nothing perverted
- 10:21Speaker 4: about the guy. He just liked going by himself, and
- 10:24Speaker 4: a lot of parents didn't like that. You feel you're, like,
- 10:27Speaker 4: in the same sort of.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Situation?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Well, I don't know about that. I think that it's
- 10:34Speaker 3: just something I like to do, and I will do
- 10:37Speaker 3: it for as long as I can. And when I die,
- 10:41Speaker 3: those photographs, of course, will be sealed with me, as
- 10:45Speaker 3: I have indicated in my will.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Well, wait, wait. You're going to take these photographs and
- 10:49Speaker 2: do what?
- 10:50Speaker 3: Well, Phil, I guess this is going to kind of
- 10:52Speaker 3: make me seem a little weird, too, but I want
- 10:54Speaker 3: those photographs sealed in my crypt with me. That's part
- 10:58Speaker 3: of my will, my last will and testament.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Now, can I ask you why?
- 11:01Speaker 3: You can put it down to the proclivities of a
- 11:04Speaker 3: very strange old band if you want, or you can
- 11:06Speaker 3: say that that's just kind of the way I want it,
- 11:08Speaker 3: but there's nothing illegal about it.
- 11:10Speaker 2: You want all of these albums of pictures of little
- 11:13Speaker 2: girls that you've taken?
- 11:15Speaker 6: Yes, sir.
- 11:15Speaker 2: To be put into your crypt.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yes, our family mausoleum at Forest Lawn. And I want
- 11:21Speaker 3: them to be sealed in with me.
- 11:25Speaker 2: See, that to me is weird.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I would expect you to say something like that. I
- 11:29Speaker 3: would expect most people to say something like that. But
- 11:31Speaker 3: I'm in violation of no law.
- 11:34Speaker 2: All right, our number 1-800-449-8686.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Dr.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Galen Hall is a well-known academic from the University of Renmont.
- 11:43Speaker 4: He was the president there for some 30 years.
- 11:45Speaker 6: Uh.
- 11:46Speaker 4: has been taking photographs of little girls between the ages
- 11:49Speaker 4: of five and ten and keeping them in private albums
- 11:51Speaker 4: for a number of years uh... he doesn't feel like
- 11:54Speaker 4: he's doing anything wrong he doesn't share them on the
- 11:56Speaker 4: internet he doesn't sell them uh... they aren't naked they're
- 12:00Speaker 4: not pornographic they just happen to be pictures that he
- 12:02Speaker 4: likes to take uh... these albums he feels belong to
- 12:05Speaker 4: him and uh... he has it in his will that
- 12:08Speaker 4: when he dies they're going to be sealed in his
- 12:10Speaker 4: coffin with him now One of the fathers, a picture
- 12:13Speaker 4: that he took of a girl on Saturday, aroused the
- 12:15Speaker 4: interest of a father who said, I'd like to know
- 12:18Speaker 4: where that's going before you take it.
- 12:21Speaker 2: And Dr.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Hall turned and walked away from him. Our number is 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:28Speaker 4: This sort of falls into some kind of a netherworld,
- 12:30Speaker 4: some kind of a gray area between weird and hobby.
- 12:36Speaker 4: And I don't quite know what to say. And, of course,
- 12:39Speaker 4: the doctor uses his standing as a, member of the
- 12:42Speaker 4: academic society as his defense.
- 12:44Speaker 3: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:44Speaker 2: It's Halloween here, 2005. The world-famous Phil Hendry Show. The
- 12:46Speaker 2: Phil Hendry Show.
- 12:47Speaker 7: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Pure Exhibitionism.
- 12:57Speaker 5: 1-800-449-8686. The Phil Henry Show is back.
- 13:01Speaker 3: That's my point of view, you see. But that always
- 13:04Speaker 3: hangs people up.
- 13:05Speaker 2: All right. We're back with Dr. Galen Hall.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Dr.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Hall, a former president of the University of Renmont, longtime academic.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Your field of study was English and history, correct?
- 13:15Speaker 3: English, history, Phil. I was also head of the archaeology
- 13:17Speaker 3: department for about six months when Dr. Blanchman died. But
- 13:22Speaker 3: it's been a great run.
- 13:24Speaker 2: All right, but we don't have you on the air
- 13:25Speaker 2: tonight because of your career as a college professor or president.
- 13:29Speaker 2: We have you on the air tonight because you had
- 13:31Speaker 2: an encounter with a father on Saturday. You're taking pictures
- 13:34Speaker 2: of his daughter.
- 13:35Speaker 4: You go out and take pictures of little girls, you say,
- 13:38Speaker 4: between the ages of 5 and 10. And you keep
- 13:40Speaker 4: these photographs. They are yours. You don't put them on
- 13:43Speaker 4: the Internet. You don't sell them. They're not pornographic.
- 13:46Speaker 3: They're not pornographic, and they're mine. They're my photographs. No
- 13:50Speaker 3: one can take them from me.
- 13:53Speaker 4: But you fear the police may come in. That's why
- 13:55Speaker 4: you put little black strips of electrical tape across the eyes?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Yes, so that I can show the police officers these
- 14:01Speaker 3: kids have no identity.
- 14:04Speaker 4: And then the other thing is that when you die,
- 14:06Speaker 4: you want these albums of photographs of these kids to
- 14:08Speaker 4: be sealed... in your coffin with you.
- 14:11Speaker 3: That is correct, yes. Now, you show me the law
- 14:14Speaker 3: that says that's illegal. And I dare say if you do,
- 14:17Speaker 3: I'll say you wrote it yourself about two minutes ago
- 14:19Speaker 3: because it doesn't exist, sir.
- 14:22Speaker 4: All right, our number is 1-800-44... So if a parent
- 14:24Speaker 4: comes up to you and says, don't take a picture
- 14:25Speaker 4: of my kid, what.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Do you say?
- 14:27Speaker 3: Well, I'll say what I said to that father. I'll say,
- 14:29Speaker 3: you know, with all due respect to you, it's none
- 14:30Speaker 3: of your beeswax, you know, to put it in a
- 14:33Speaker 3: colloquial phrase, you know. It's really none of your being,
- 14:37Speaker 3: what I do... I have a picture of her, and
- 14:40Speaker 3: I want to go home with it.
- 14:42Speaker 2: All right, 1-800-449-8686. Becky is on the line from Texas. Becky, hello.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 14:48Speaker 7: It's Jackie.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Oh, Jackie.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Jackie.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 14:51Speaker 7: When I go to bed tonight, I'm going to pray
- 14:53Speaker 7: for this man because he's just lost.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Oh, nonsense.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Nonsense.
- 14:58Speaker 7: He's crazy. Oh, nonsense. I mean, he is one step
- 15:01Speaker 7: away from a molester, taking pictures of girls that he
- 15:04Speaker 7: doesn't know, blackening the eyes, and he wants to be
- 15:07Speaker 7: buried with the pictures. If it's not illegal, it should be.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I'd like to challenge the caller to tell me why
- 15:13Speaker 3: should it be illegal. If it's not, what am I
- 15:16Speaker 3: doing that's wrong?
- 15:19Speaker 7: That is just twisted.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Well, twisted is one thing, and illegal and dangerous is another. Now,
- 15:25Speaker 3: I don't think it's twisted at all to have a hobby.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Do you have a hobby?
- 15:28Speaker 7: I have lots of hobbies.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Would you mention to me one of your hobbies? Mention
- 15:33Speaker 3: to me one of your hobbies, please.
- 15:39Speaker 7: Uh, fly fishing.
- 15:40Speaker 3: What is up here?
- 15:40Speaker 7: Fly fishing.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Fly fishing?
- 15:41Speaker 7: Uh, we go on medical mission trips.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Do you know that I could turn fly fishing into
- 15:46Speaker 3: a perversion?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Well, how do you do that?
- 15:49Speaker 7: I'm sure the man that's talking could.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Like I said... Excuse me, ma'am. Any normal person could
- 15:55Speaker 3: say fly fishing is perverted and involves bestial sex.
- 15:59Speaker 2: No, you could not say that. How could you even
- 16:01Speaker 2: get that?
- 16:02Speaker 3: Well, what is she getting out of what I'm doing?
- 16:05Speaker 3: You see.
- 16:06Speaker 7: Why would you want to take pictures of a little girl?
- 16:08Speaker 7: Do you have grandchildren? Do you take pictures of them
- 16:11Speaker 7: and blacken their eyes?
- 16:14Speaker 3: My wife and I never got married. I mean, we
- 16:16Speaker 3: never had children. We never got married. I guess that
- 16:18Speaker 3: was a Freudian slip. No, we never had children.
- 16:21Speaker 7: Thank the Lord.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Well, you see, you can say whatever you want. There's
- 16:26Speaker 3: an old saying, sticks and stones may break my bones,
- 16:29Speaker 3: words they could never hurt me.
- 16:30Speaker 7: It may not be illegal, but it should be. Parents
- 16:34Speaker 7: need to watch out for people like you. When you're
- 16:38Speaker 7: at your football games and you're out trick-or-treating, watch for
- 16:41Speaker 7: men like you because you're one step away from a molester.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Well, then, Jackie, you get to go out fly fishing,
- 16:46Speaker 3: gut the fish open, and then what do you do
- 16:48Speaker 3: with it once it's open like that? Let me guess.
- 16:51Speaker 7: We don't kill the fish. We put the fish back
- 16:53Speaker 7: in the water. I would not kill a living thing.
- 16:57Speaker 3: No, you just torture it.
- 16:59Speaker 6: No, I don't.
- 17:01Speaker 3: See, yeah, that's torture, don't you think?
- 17:03Speaker 8: No, that's not true.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Pulling the animal from the water?
- 17:05Speaker 9: It's not hurt at all.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Oh, how do you know? It's gasping for air as
- 17:08Speaker 3: you hang it up there and go, look at what
- 17:10Speaker 3: I caught.
- 17:11Speaker 7: I've never had a dead fish before.
- 17:13Speaker 3: No, but it's torture. It has nuts.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Now, look, this is an academic.
- 17:16Speaker 3: It's a completely different subject.
- 17:17Speaker 2: It's totally different.
- 17:19Speaker 7: That you're a professor of a college is scary. And
- 17:23Speaker 7: I only hope that people hear the show and watch
- 17:25Speaker 7: you and.
- 17:27Speaker 7: What's best when you're taking pictures of their little girl?
- 17:30Speaker 3: They can certainly do that, but they can't keep me
- 17:32Speaker 3: from having those scrapbooks buried with me in my sealed crypt.
- 17:35Speaker 7: What state are you in?
- 17:37Speaker 3: I live in the state of California, ma'am.
- 17:39Speaker 7: State of California. Would you mind telling me what town?
- 17:42Speaker 3: Not at all. I live in Los Angeles, California.
- 17:44Speaker 7: Los Angeles, California. Well, I'll have to do some research
- 17:47Speaker 7: in the morning.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Well, you can research all you want.
- 17:50Speaker 7: This is very, very disturbing.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I'm simply saying that I have every legal right to
- 17:54Speaker 3: have those scrapbooks sealed in my mausoleum with me.
- 17:58Speaker 7: Let me say one more thing and I'll let you go.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Go ahead, go ahead.
- 18:02Speaker 7: I just got back from a medical mission trip where
- 18:05Speaker 7: we were in a country where you cannot drink the water.
- 18:08Speaker 7: I mean, there are so many horrific things there with
- 18:10Speaker 7: all the wonderful things we have in the United States.
- 18:13Speaker 7: If you have that much time on your hands, please,
- 18:16Speaker 7: look into helping other people. Don't spend your time doing
- 18:19Speaker 7: what you're talking about.
- 18:21Speaker 3: What I do with the photographs, I make collages of
- 18:23Speaker 3: them that I can enjoy.
- 18:24Speaker 7: Like I said.
- 18:25Speaker 2: A collage of a lot of little girls.
- 18:27Speaker 3: That is correct. See, the two of you have got
- 18:29Speaker 3: a sicker mind than me because you both keep going
- 18:31Speaker 3: to sex and I don't.
- 18:32Speaker 8: No.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 18:34Speaker 7: Why blackening the eyes? You're afraid that what you're doing
- 18:37Speaker 7: is illegal.
- 18:38Speaker 3: No, I blacken the eyes so that the police can
- 18:40Speaker 3: see that I'm not trying to use the identity of
- 18:43Speaker 3: these kids I don't want any trouble from people like you,
- 18:46Speaker 3: that's all. When you kick the door of my home
- 18:48Speaker 3: in at 3 in the morning.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Well, she's not saying anything like that. She's just saying
- 18:51Speaker 2: that she feels it's kind of twisted and weird.
- 18:53Speaker 7: I have three children. One of my oldest child is disabled.
- 18:57Speaker 7: And someone like you scares me to death.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Well, I'm not going to take a picture of a
- 19:02Speaker 3: kid in a wheelchair, I can assure you.
- 19:03Speaker 7: He's not in a wheelchair.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Why not?
- 19:05Speaker 7: He's not physically handicapped. He's mentally handicapped.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Well, does he walk with a little bit of a...
- 19:10Speaker 3: Does he walk sideways?
- 19:11Speaker 8: No.
- 19:11Speaker 3: How do you know he's... Then how would anyone know?
- 19:13Speaker 7: You would not know there was anything wrong with him
- 19:15Speaker 7: unless he opened his mouth.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Well, then you had to go and tell everybody. Nice going.
- 19:20Speaker 7: I'm just saying, like I said, if you have that
- 19:23Speaker 7: much time on your hands, you really need to be
- 19:26Speaker 7: trying to help other people. With everything that's going on
- 19:29Speaker 7: in the world today, and the hurricanes, and the war
- 19:32Speaker 7: in Iraq, I mean, there's a lot of things that
- 19:35Speaker 7: you could be doing with your time.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And when I go to bed.
- 19:39Speaker 7: Tonight, I will pray for you that God saves your soul.
- 19:42Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Jackie, I was simply saying that your son, though he
- 19:45Speaker 3: is disabled mentally, shows no outward manifestation of that. So
- 19:50Speaker 3: why did you go and blow it by telling everybody?
- 19:52Speaker 3: They probably thought he was normal. Nice going.
- 19:55Speaker 2: She hung up. Okay.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Look, children are beautiful and they are God's creation. Why
- 20:00Speaker 3: can't I take their photographs and enjoy them?
- 20:03Speaker 4: Yeah, but this whole thing of wanting to have them
- 20:05Speaker 4: sealed in your crypt... And what do you mean by crypt?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Well, that's the technical weather. We have a family mausoleum.
- 20:11Speaker 3: In other words, it's a mausoleum in which there are
- 20:14Speaker 3: places for seven of us. My father and mother are
- 20:18Speaker 3: buried there. My older brother and older sister are there.
- 20:20Speaker 3: So there's places for three more, myself and my two
- 20:23Speaker 3: younger brothers.
- 20:24Speaker 2: What about your wife?
- 20:25Speaker 3: I don't choose to be buried with her, thank you
- 20:27Speaker 3: very much.
- 20:28Speaker 2: But with these scrapbooks of the kids?
- 20:30Speaker 6: Yes.
- 20:31Speaker 4: So you choose to be buried with a scrapbook full
- 20:33Speaker 4: of photographs, but not your wife?
- 20:36Speaker 3: That's right. Are you going to make that some kind
- 20:38Speaker 3: of a perverted thing, too? Oh, baby.
- 20:43Speaker 5: The Phil Hendry Show. 1-800-449-8686. Stepping over the line. Naked.
- 20:50Speaker 5: The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 20:52Speaker 3: 1-800-449-8686.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Now, see, that's an area that's illegal. We're back with Dr.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Galen Hall, Dr. Hall, a retired president of the University
- 21:01Speaker 4: of Renmont. That's illegal, isn't it?
- 21:04Speaker 3: Well, no, Phil, it wouldn't be illegal because, again, you
- 21:06Speaker 3: have the black tape across the eyes of the girls.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And so by putting these pictures, and what they are
- 21:12Speaker 3: is embossed, and then they are sealed in the actual
- 21:15Speaker 3: concrete of the mausoleum, the pictures would form a frame
- 21:20Speaker 3: around the actual entryway to the mausoleum.
- 21:24Speaker 2: These are pictures of someone else's kid.
- 21:26Speaker 3: But the black, blacking out the eyes makes them anonymous.
- 21:30Speaker 2: So you've got pictures of the little girls.
- 21:34Speaker 4: around the entrance to this family mausoleum, but because the
- 21:38Speaker 4: eyes are blacked out, you feel legally you're in the clear.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I think legally I am. Of course, I'd have to
- 21:43Speaker 3: get the legal opinion filled, but I believe that legally
- 21:45Speaker 3: it is certainly within my rights. Now, it may be unusual,
- 21:50Speaker 3: but nonetheless, it's not pornographic, and I believe if I'm
- 21:53Speaker 3: on legal terra firma, why, there's nothing wrong.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Dr.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Hall is with us.
- 21:59Speaker 4: He takes pictures of little girls. He feels he has
- 22:01Speaker 4: the right to. He says they're not pornographic. He doesn't
- 22:03Speaker 4: put them on the Internet. He doesn't sell them. He
- 22:05Speaker 4: keeps them in a scrapbook, which he wants to have
- 22:07Speaker 4: sealed in his coffin with him when he dies. And
- 22:11Speaker 4: the entryway to the family mausoleum, he wants to decorate
- 22:14Speaker 4: with the pictures of these kids.
- 22:16Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686. Raymond, you're on The Phil Henry Show. Go ahead.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I would like to ask Mr. Hall a question.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 22:26Speaker 3: It's Dr.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Hall.
- 22:27Speaker 6: Yes, I understand that your wife has passed.
- 22:31Speaker 3: My wife passed on two years ago, sir. Yes, sir.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Okay. Is there a problem with you going out and
- 22:38Speaker 6: getting another wife? Or, I mean, what is the meaning
- 22:42Speaker 6: of these little girls?
- 22:44Speaker 3: Well, this has nothing to do with my wife. This
- 22:47Speaker 3: is a hobby. My wife and I had a marriage
- 22:49Speaker 3: of convenience. My wife and I were not much interested
- 22:54Speaker 3: in sex with each other. In fact, to that end,
- 22:58Speaker 3: I am not gay. I am more just asexual. I've
- 23:00Speaker 3: never been really interested in sex.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Yeah, but for you to collect little girls and you
- 23:05Speaker 6: said that you take pictures in shorts and bathing suits.
- 23:09Speaker 6: I mean, as a father, I have a six-year-old. And
- 23:12Speaker 6: if I'm out at a football game and you're taking
- 23:15Speaker 6: pictures of my daughter and I ask you, you know,
- 23:18Speaker 6: why are you taking them or what you're using them for?
- 23:20Speaker 6: I mean, I don't want to know.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Well, I'll simply say to you, I keep them in
- 23:24Speaker 3: an album, and at some point when I die, I
- 23:26Speaker 3: want them to be sealed in a pit with me.
- 23:30Speaker 6: I mean, I understand that, but you're doing that for
- 23:33Speaker 6: a hobby, but that sounds more perverted than anything.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Well, sir, I would submit to you what sounds perverted
- 23:40Speaker 3: and what is in fact perverted may be two different things. Now,
- 23:43Speaker 3: I can assure you there is nothing untoward about what
- 23:45Speaker 3: I'm doing. I'm not using them for sexual purposes. I
- 23:49Speaker 3: make collages of them. I decorate my refrigerated home with them.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I go to sleep at night looking at them.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You go to sleep at night looking at them?
- 23:58Speaker 6: That sounds like a problem right there.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Well, why is that a problem? Again, we're talking about.
- 24:03Speaker 6: You look at that little girl before you go to bed?
- 24:05Speaker 3: Well, sir, again, I don't use them for sexual purposes.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I have no sexual interest. It's almost like a work
- 24:11Speaker 3: of art. It's as if one looks at, oh, I
- 24:13Speaker 3: don't know, a beautiful painting. One looks at a sunset,
- 24:17Speaker 3: or perhaps one enjoys a meadow... where caribou prance. I
- 24:21Speaker 3: often take the cruise to Alaska. I love the caribou.
- 24:24Speaker 2: So these kids are a manifestation of nature.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Well, that's a good way of putting it, yes.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But they're little girls. They're little girls, and they're not
- 24:32Speaker 2: little boys.
- 24:34Speaker 6: I want to say this, and I'll let you go.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Certainly.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Like the last caller said, we have so much going
- 24:40Speaker 6: on in the world right now. After all this hurricane tragedy,
- 24:45Speaker 6: why not help out people with You know, how about trash?
- 24:51Speaker 6: I mean.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Well, I could ask you the same question. Why is
- 24:54Speaker 3: it that people who collect stamps aren't asked to go
- 24:56Speaker 3: out and pick up garbage? They get to collect stamps.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Why can't I collect pictures of little girls?
- 25:02Speaker 6: Oh, that's two totally different subjects.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Well, sir, I don't see how they are. The Philatelic
- 25:07Speaker 3: Society enjoys a great deal of prestige, and yet an
- 25:11Speaker 3: individual such as myself, who collects photographs of young girls
- 25:15Speaker 3: and puts them, yes, around his apartment... He's looked upon
- 25:18Speaker 3: as some kind of a sexual deviant.
- 25:22Speaker 6: This would be totally different if you was collecting women
- 25:25Speaker 6: of your own age. You said five to ten-year-old little girls.
- 25:29Speaker 3: That is correct, yes.
- 25:31Speaker 2: You know, I have to agree with the caller to
- 25:33Speaker 2: a point. It's a little different from collecting stamps. You know,
- 25:37Speaker 2: it's just.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Well, how is it different from collecting stamps? and how
- 25:41Speaker 3: is it different from turning your radio up, even though
- 25:43Speaker 3: the man told you to turn it down? See, these
- 25:44Speaker 3: are the things that.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I'll do that. Don't worry about it. Thank you very much, Raymond.
- 25:49Speaker 3: 1-800-449-8686.
- 25:49Speaker 2: We'll go to Jackie here with Dr. Galen Hall from
- 25:53Speaker 2: the University of Remnant. Jackie, go ahead.
- 25:55Speaker 9: Yeah, hi, Mr.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Hall.
- 25:56Speaker 9: How are you doing tonight?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Very good, Jackie, although it is Dr. Hall.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Okay, Dr.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Hall.
- 26:01Speaker 9: My biggest thing was my concern. You're disgusting. I mean,
- 26:06Speaker 9: I'm pretty sure you have grandchildren of your own, and...
- 26:09Speaker 9: to get out though i mean well i.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Can't help but you have to have a look at
- 26:13Speaker 3: what how are you doing tonight you're disgusting ticket at
- 26:17Speaker 3: the well why even ask me how i'm doing obviously
- 26:19Speaker 3: don't care.
- 26:20Speaker 9: Well basically i think it's just a little bit you've
- 26:24Speaker 9: got the way and put it out for that you know.
- 26:26Speaker 3: You can't be a little bit you are not going
- 26:28Speaker 3: to put in jail for something that is no legal that's.
- 26:31Speaker 9: Not going to be taken because i think that but
- 26:33Speaker 9: i'm pretty sure that i got caught up in the
- 26:34Speaker 9: format of the fact that i thought that we could
- 26:36Speaker 9: take a picture of my daughter What are you taking
- 26:38Speaker 9: a picture of my daughter for? You're not putting it
- 26:41Speaker 9: in a school magazine.
- 26:42Speaker 3: No, I'm not putting it in a school magazine.
- 26:44Speaker 9: Okay, you're using it for your own purpose.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I'm laminating it. If you want to know what I'm
- 26:48Speaker 3: doing with it, I'm laminating it, and I'm putting it
- 26:50Speaker 3: into an album, and then I will either emboss it
- 26:55Speaker 3: and put it on the refrigerator, or sometimes I'll put
- 26:59Speaker 3: it in a collage under glass on my coffee table.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Other times I earmark it for one of the photos.
- 27:05Speaker 3: But that's sickening.
- 27:06Speaker 9: That's sickening. You don't do those kind of things. That's
- 27:07Speaker 9: not even your family. That's somebody else's kid.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question, and I mean this sincerely.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Okay.
- 27:14Speaker 3: I'd like you to tell me specifically what's wrong with
- 27:16Speaker 3: having a five-by-eight-foot collage of little girls on the ceiling
- 27:20Speaker 3: of my bedroom.
- 27:21Speaker 9: Because it's not your family. It's somebody else's kid.
- 27:24Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no.
- 27:25Speaker 9: That's disgusting.
- 27:26Speaker 3: No, I didn't.
- 27:26Speaker 9: You don't do those kind of things.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Wait a minute, what's perverted about that?
- 27:30Speaker 2: Well, wait, wait, I want to ask you. A five-by-eight
- 27:32Speaker 2: collage on the ceiling of your bedroom.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yes, yes, exactly. Oh, I see.
- 27:38Speaker 9: I mean, would you put five-by-eight collages of Michael Jackson
- 27:42Speaker 9: all over your house and look at him before you
- 27:44Speaker 9: go to sleep? I don't think so, because I wouldn't
- 27:45Speaker 9: do that either.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I'm glad you brought up.
- 27:47Speaker 9: He disgusts me.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm glad you brought up Michael Jackson, because most people
- 27:50Speaker 3: wanted to come to his defense. And what was he
- 27:53Speaker 3: doing that was any different from me?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Well, let's hope that he... Because that guy was accused
- 27:56Speaker 2: of child molestation.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Well, and apparently he was innocent, isn't he?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Well, he was found not guilty, yes.
- 28:02Speaker 8: All right.
- 28:03Speaker 9: Okay, but your only situation that's different with you and
- 28:06Speaker 9: him is that he was molested and you're not, but
- 28:08Speaker 9: you're still sickening and perverted.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Well, ma'am, you can call me all kinds of names,
- 28:12Speaker 3: but you still can't tell me why it is. I
- 28:14Speaker 3: can lay in bed at night. All right, I'm wearing
- 28:17Speaker 3: my underwear. I guess that's bad. And I'm looking at
- 28:18Speaker 3: a collage of five-year-old girls on the ceiling of my house.
- 28:21Speaker 9: Five-year-old girls?
- 28:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:23Speaker 9: That's a baby.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Well, they're not naked.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Yeah, but you're sitting there in your underwear and you're
- 28:27Speaker 4: doing what?
- 28:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Looking at collages.
- 28:29Speaker 8: Looking at collages, yes.
- 28:31Speaker 3: What's wrong with that?
- 28:33Speaker 9: I see nothing wrong with that. Well, are you looking
- 28:36Speaker 9: at them for sexual reasons?
- 28:37Speaker 3: No.
- 28:37Speaker 9: You're looking at them because you appreciate young boys and
- 28:39Speaker 9: you happen to be only wearing underwear.
- 28:54Speaker 8: Wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 28:55Speaker 9: I don't even look at kids like that, so why
- 28:56Speaker 9: would I look at somebody else?
- 28:57Speaker 3: There's nothing wrong with enjoying the beauty of youth. Oh, yeah,
- 29:01Speaker 3: I'm just in my underwear.
- 29:03Speaker 9: Okay, I can understand why, yes, you can enjoy the
- 29:06Speaker 9: beauty of youth.
- 29:07Speaker 3: There you go.
- 29:08Speaker 9: But, I mean, in the way that you're doing it,
- 29:09Speaker 9: that's sickening.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Well, Jackie, I would submit to you that you have
- 29:13Speaker 3: a bigger problem than I do.
- 29:14Speaker 6: No, you have a.
- 29:15Speaker 9: Bigger problem than me because I'm not landing any pictures.
- 29:19Speaker 9: ain't going to put it in my grave with me.
- 29:20Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, I understand you were married to your
- 29:22Speaker 9: wife for three years, and that's all fine and dandy,
- 29:26Speaker 9: and you made a promise to God that you were
- 29:28Speaker 9: going to be with her. Instead of you being buried
- 29:30Speaker 9: in your grave next to her, you want to have
- 29:32Speaker 9: some kids laminated in the folder.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Ma'am, what I'm saying is this. My wife, I don't
- 29:38Speaker 3: choose to be buried with. I is that?
- 29:40Speaker 7: That's your wife.
- 29:41Speaker 6: That's why you made a.
- 29:43Speaker 8: Promise to her.
- 29:43Speaker 3: I choose instead to be buried with the laminated photographs
- 29:46Speaker 3: of five-year-old girls.
- 29:47Speaker 9: Because you want to be a pervert.
- 29:48Speaker 7: That's why.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Ma'am, if I wanted to be a pervert, I'd be one.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Wouldn't I?
- 29:53Speaker 9: You already are.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Well, now, I want to ask a question. Dr. Hall,
- 29:57Speaker 2: you've never had any kind of sexual.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Certainly not, and I find this suggestion to be completely insulting. Well,
- 30:04Speaker 3: then I think you're lying, laying there in your underwear
- 30:06Speaker 3: looking at little boys on your ceiling.
- 30:07Speaker 9: I don't look at little boys on my ceiling.
- 30:10Speaker 3: You just said you did.
- 30:11Speaker 2: No, she did not.
- 30:12Speaker 5: No, I did not.
- 30:13Speaker 2: No, she did not.
- 30:13Speaker 9: I said, that's just like me sitting in my underwear.
- 30:16Speaker 9: Didn't you say that you wanted to be... Didn't you
- 30:20Speaker 9: say you wanted to be... You said you.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Wanted to be in your underwear looking at laminated pictures
- 30:25Speaker 3: in your coffin.
- 30:26Speaker 9: I wanted to be in my underwear looking at a
- 30:27Speaker 9: grown-ass man And with a 5x8 collage of my own age.
- 30:32Speaker 9: How about that?
- 30:33Speaker 7: But not little kids.
- 30:34Speaker 3: A man with a 5x8 what?
- 30:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Boy, she's got a filthy mind.
- 30:39Speaker 2: The lady is trying to make a point to you.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Jackie.
- 30:44Speaker 3: 1-800-449-8686.
- 30:44Speaker 6: Dr.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Galen Hall, retired president of the University of Renmont here
- 30:51Speaker 4: in Southern California.
- 30:53Speaker 2: He's an academician. How do you say that word? Academician?
- 30:57Speaker 2: I forget.
- 30:58Speaker 4: But anyway, he's really smart in a little bit of
- 31:01Speaker 4: a problem because he has a hobby that's a bit weird.
- 31:03Speaker 4: He likes to take pictures of little girls between the
- 31:05Speaker 4: ages of five and eight, laminate them, put them in
- 31:08Speaker 4: a collage in the ceiling of his bedroom. But he
- 31:10Speaker 4: says he's not a pervert. He's never done anything with
- 31:12Speaker 4: kids that's wrong. And he wants to take these photographs
- 31:16Speaker 4: with him and seal them into his coffin with him
- 31:18Speaker 4: when he dies.
- 31:19Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686. The Phil Henry Show.
- 31:23Speaker 5: The Phil Henry Show. 1-800-449-8686. FUBAR. The Phil Henry Show
- 31:29Speaker 5: is back.
- 31:30Speaker 6: 1-800-449-8686.
- 31:30Speaker 5: The fact that.
- 31:33Speaker 3: President Bush lied.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Hold on for a minute.
- 31:36Speaker 4: You know, when you start getting into that stuff, it
- 31:37Speaker 4: really starts to tighten my jaws, Professor.
- 31:39Speaker 2: You know, Dr. Galen Hall with us. Look, you're taking
- 31:43Speaker 2: pictures of little girls. I'm not saying there's anything wrong
- 31:45Speaker 2: with that. Five to ten-year-old girls. The parents... are looking
- 31:49Speaker 2: at you, suspect. They want to know what's going to
- 31:52Speaker 2: happen with these pictures.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Phil, to use your phrase, tightens your jaws, I'll tell
- 31:58Speaker 3: you what tightens my jaws. When I take a perfectly
- 32:00Speaker 3: good picture of a little 5- to 10-year-old girl that
- 32:04Speaker 3: I want to take home and put into one of
- 32:05Speaker 3: my albums, and a father walks up to me and
- 32:08Speaker 3: presumes that he has the right to ask me what
- 32:10Speaker 3: I'm going to do with it, well, he has no right.
- 32:13Speaker 3: I'm going to take it home, laminate it, and do
- 32:14Speaker 3: what I will with it, but I certainly am not
- 32:16Speaker 3: going to do anything perverse.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Why did you make a point of saying you lay
- 32:20Speaker 2: in bed at night in your underwear staring at a
- 32:22Speaker 2: collage of five-year-old girls in the ceiling?
- 32:25Speaker 3: Because sometimes I'm in my underwear. I don't understand.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Well, you could have just said you lay in bed
- 32:31Speaker 2: at night.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I lay in bed at night in my underwear. I
- 32:34Speaker 3: don't want you to think I'm laying in bed in
- 32:36Speaker 3: a full three-piece suit. See, people have been calling me crazy.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Now I say that I lay in bed, and they're
- 32:42Speaker 3: going to call up and say, what, are you laying
- 32:43Speaker 3: in bed in a plumber's jumpsuit? Are you laying in
- 32:46Speaker 3: bed in a pair of overalls, or are you laying
- 32:48Speaker 3: in bed the way most people lay in bed, either
- 32:51Speaker 3: naked or with a very small pair of briefs? That's
- 32:54Speaker 3: what I'm saying to you.
- 32:55Speaker 2: All right, hold on. 1-800-449-8686. Lynn, go ahead. You're on
- 32:59Speaker 2: The Phil Henry Show.
- 33:01Speaker 8: Hi.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Hi, Lynn.
- 33:02Speaker 8: I have a question for Dr.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Hall. Yes, dear.
- 33:05Speaker 8: Obviously, you're an educated gentleman with... a hobby that some
- 33:11Speaker 8: people find strange, and it may not be illegal.
- 33:14Speaker 6: That is correct.
- 33:15Speaker 8: But what surprises me with a man that is educated
- 33:21Speaker 8: the way you are and that works in a field
- 33:24Speaker 8: that involves young people, that you don't have the respect
- 33:31Speaker 8: for other people's privacy and that you would take pictures
- 33:35Speaker 8: of children where the parents object. If the parents didn't object,
- 33:41Speaker 8: I wouldn't have an issue with it. But if a
- 33:43Speaker 8: parent asks you not to take a picture of a child,
- 33:48Speaker 8: I think it really borders on invasion of privacy.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Well, there's no invasion of privacy because you can't take
- 33:57Speaker 3: a piece of black electrical tape and put it over
- 33:59Speaker 3: the eyes.
- 33:59Speaker 8: No, you're taking a picture of someone and they've asked
- 34:03Speaker 8: you not to do it.
- 34:04Speaker 3: But where is the invasion of privacy? How is it
- 34:07Speaker 3: an invasion of privacy.
- 34:08Speaker 8: When there's black tape? Because you're pointing a camera at
- 34:11Speaker 8: someone that doesn't want you to take their photo. No
- 34:14Speaker 8: matter what you do with that photo, if they've asked
- 34:17Speaker 8: you not to take the photo, you really don't have.
- 34:21Speaker 7: I don't.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Think legally you're on.
- 34:22Speaker 8: Very solid ground. No, I didn't.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I think that the idea of invasion of privacy has
- 34:28Speaker 3: to do with the... A strict violation of that law,
- 34:32Speaker 3: which this is not.
- 34:32Speaker 8: Doctor, I didn't suggest that it was illegal. There's a
- 34:37Speaker 8: morality issue that you don't respect people's privacy.
- 34:41Speaker 3: But what if I use a telephoto lens, which is
- 34:43Speaker 3: what I do most of the time, you see? Well,
- 34:46Speaker 3: you laugh about that. Hold on for a minute.
- 34:47Speaker 4: I want to ask a question. The picture you took
- 34:50Speaker 4: of the girl on Saturday, the father could see?
- 34:52Speaker 3: That is correct, yes. Usually I use a telephoto lens
- 34:55Speaker 3: from a van.
- 34:56Speaker 2: From a van?
- 34:57Speaker 8: You're digging a hole for yourself, sir.
- 35:00Speaker 3: How am I digging a hole for myself?
- 35:01Speaker 8: Because everything you talk about sounds creepier and creepier. And
- 35:08Speaker 8: it may not be illegal, but doctor, the fact that
- 35:11Speaker 8: you don't understand to comprehend... even though you're intelligent and educated,
- 35:16Speaker 8: that you're creepy.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Well, ma'am, the word creepy, I don't know that that's
- 35:20Speaker 3: in any real collegiate dictionary, but let's just assume that
- 35:25Speaker 3: it means that it bothers you.
- 35:28Speaker 8: You get it.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Well, it bothers you.
- 35:30Speaker 8: Doesn't mean that it's wrong. No, I think it bothers
- 35:33Speaker 8: the majority of people. You have disrespect for other people's rights.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I'm sure there are many things that bother you. I'm
- 35:38Speaker 3: sure there are many things that bother you. But I
- 35:41Speaker 3: wouldn't presume to know what those things are.
- 35:43Speaker 8: Dr.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Hall, if I went into your home, if I was
- 35:47Speaker 3: in your home and I looked at some of your
- 35:49Speaker 3: personal habits, are you sure I wouldn't want to grab
- 35:51Speaker 3: a towel over my mouth?
- 35:53Speaker 8: Dr. Hall, you're taking photos of young children without the
- 35:58Speaker 8: permission of their parents. And when the parents ask you
- 36:02Speaker 8: specifically not to do it and you do it anyway...
- 36:07Speaker 8: You're showing disrespect for the child, for the parent. You're
- 36:12Speaker 8: not showing respect. If I took a camera and stuck
- 36:16Speaker 8: it in your face when you told me not to
- 36:18Speaker 8: take your picture, then I'm showing disrespect for you.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Well, why would you do that?
- 36:24Speaker 2: All right, okay, hold on for a minute. Phil Hendry Show.
- 36:27Speaker 5: The Phil Hendry Show, 1-800-449-8686. Shock and awe meets your
- 36:28Speaker 5: radio dial. 1-800-449-8686. The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Okay, Lynn, are you there?
- 36:39Speaker 5: Lynn?
- 36:41Speaker 2: Lynn, are you there?
- 36:41Speaker 6: Lynn?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Oh, wait a minute. Here's Lynn. Lynn, I'm sorry, are
- 36:45Speaker 2: you there?
- 36:45Speaker 8: Yes, I am.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 36:46Speaker 3: You know, I think it would be interesting to ask your.
- 36:50Speaker 2: You want to be buried in your underwear?
- 36:51Speaker 8: Yes, sir. if there's an attorney listening, whether it's legal
- 36:57Speaker 8: to take photographs.
- 36:59Speaker 9: Oh.
- 36:59Speaker 3: So you don't know.
- 37:00Speaker 8: Of children or people with.
- 37:00Speaker 3: So you don't know and you.
- 37:01Speaker 8: Have to get a lawyer. I'm not a lawyer, doctor.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Well, then why are you talking like one? Gotcha. Three points.
- 37:08Speaker 8: No, it's not a question. I'm talking as a citizen,
- 37:11Speaker 8: and very honestly.
- 37:12Speaker 3: We'll take time out with a score. Me one, you nothing.
