- 0:09Suze: Surprise everybody. This is not a best of. This is live.
- 0:16Suze: This is us. We're here.
- 0:17KT: KT and Suze live in the house.
- 0:19Suze: And it's August 27th, 2026. And why did we decide
- 0:25Suze: to come and do a podcast today when normally for
- 0:29Suze: the summer schedule, and who knows how long that summer
- 0:33Suze: schedule may last because we're having a great time, everybody.
- 0:36Suze: We wanted to come to you because how could we not,
- 0:40Suze: given what happened two days ago.
- 0:44KT: Yeah, we have to honor our royalty, American royalty.
- 0:49Suze: Yeah, Dolly Parton. Oh my God, everybody, how sad were
- 0:53Suze: you when you originally heard the news. I wanted to cry.
- 0:57Suze: I think everybody wanted to cry.
- 0:58KT: I did cry. I was shocked actually, Suze.
- 1:02KT: Because I knew when her sisters talked about she wasn't
- 1:05KT: well and then she had to cancel her show in Vegas,
- 1:09KT: she canceled a...
- 1:10Suze: Yeah, many things in her last ride...
- 1:12KT: But then she came on air and told everyone, Don't worry,
- 1:14KT: I'm dealing with a couple little issues.
- 1:17Suze: When do you think she taped that? I think she
- 1:18Suze: taped that far before. She really...
- 1:22KT: You do?
- 1:22Suze: Yeah, I do.
- 1:23KT: And then all of a sudden she's radio silent and
- 1:26KT: then her nephew just stands up and tells the world
- 1:29KT: that she's gone.
- 1:31Suze: Yeah, but they had pre-recorded that as well as if
- 1:34Suze: they knew because she died, as you know, everybody at
- 1:37Suze: the hospital, and now they're saying with a brief bout
- 1:41Suze: of cancer, whatever the reason.
- 1:45Suze: The greatest thing of all about Dolly.
- 1:50Suze: She was a real doll. She was a doll that
- 1:54Suze: everybody loved. There was never one person in this entire world.
- 2:01Suze: That didn't love her, you know, nobody.
- 2:04KT: A lot of the interviews I listened to all day
- 2:08KT: on the 25th when she passed, one of the interviews
- 2:12KT: I found most fascinating was a single question, and it
- 2:15KT: was to a panel of people there and I think on,
- 2:19KT: on MSNnow or CNN, one of the shows we listened,
- 2:22KT: and they said, Have you ever heard anyone say anything
- 2:27KT: negative about Dolly Parton and they all stopped and they
- 2:33KT: said no, never men and women, men and women loved her.
- 2:38KT: Everyone loved her.
- 2:39Suze: Right. And for me, I'm happy that she's resting in
- 2:43Suze: peace now because obviously she suffered quite a bit over
- 2:46Suze: this time.
- 2:48KT: She missed her husband.
- 2:48Suze: It was only like a year after he died, I think,
- 2:51Suze: wasn't it?
- 2:52KT: Not too far apart.
- 2:53Suze: Yeah, so I'm sure she's happy that she joined him.
- 2:57Suze: But tell everybody about our experience with Dolly.
- 3:00KT: Oh, we were so, we, we had Suze and I
- 3:03KT: had a lot of fun with the Suze Orman Show
- 3:05KT: and being in New York, and Suze Orman was a
- 3:08KT: very frequent guest on the Today Show, as was Dolly,
- 3:13KT: and we would run into her and on one Friday
- 3:16KT: she was singing. We ran into her in the green room.
- 3:20KT: And I said, Dolly, can you do me a favor?
- 3:23KT: Can you say happy birthday to my friend Grover? He's
- 3:26KT: a Tennessee man. He would love to hear from his
- 3:30KT: Tennessee gal. He's not feeling well and it's his birthday.
- 3:34KT: She said, Sure, honey. What's his name? I said, Grover. Well,
- 3:38KT: of course it's Grover, and she whispered and said, Grover,
- 3:43KT: happy birthday. It's Dolly here, and I have to whisper
- 3:47KT: because we're on air live, and she just gave out
- 3:51KT: the biggest smile and hug and then, of course, saw
- 3:55KT: Suze and they did all their little love, love fest
- 3:58KT: photos together, but we enjoyed that moment and Grover...
- 4:04KT: To this day I'm sure now is just listening to
- 4:08KT: that message over and over again.
- 4:10Suze: And the reason she's sure now, is that when Grover
- 4:15Suze: got that message, he had just been admitted that day
- 4:18Suze: actually into the hospital with serious cancer, and nobody knew
- 4:24Suze: would Grover make it, would he not?
- 4:26KT: He made it with flying colors.
- 4:28Suze: Oh he made it. And so what did KT do
- 4:31Suze: the day that Dolly died? She sent that video to
- 4:35Suze: him to remind him...
- 4:37KT: How lucky he was.
- 4:39Suze: So no doubt, KT, he absolutely...
- 4:43KT: What was her, what was, what was the most favorite
- 4:46KT: song for you, Suze, that she sang?
- 4:50Suze: Oh boy, um, it's the one she wrote for her husband.
- 4:55Suze: Do you remember?
- 4:57KT: And then Whitney Houston...
- 4:59Suze: Because I...
- 4:59KT: Always, yeah, yeah, (KT sings a bit)
- 5:03Suze: Don't ruin it for people now. Don't ruin it for them. But,
- 5:07Suze: but I always thought of you when I heard that.
- 5:11KT: Me?
- 5:11Suze: Well, who else would I think about?
- 5:13KT: What a great song.
- 5:15Suze: Of course it was you, KT. So, but anyway, so Dolly,
- 5:22Suze: we hope wherever you are...
- 5:25KT: You're having a party and you're singing your heart out.
- 5:28Suze: You betcha.
- 5:29Suze: And all. All right. Next, tell everybody where we were just days ago.
- 5:34KT: We were back to New York now. Suze and I were
- 5:37KT: in New York last weekend, and we had a blast
- 5:42KT: first time for both of us at the Barclays Arena
- 5:45KT: in Brooklyn.
- 5:46KT: We had so much fun. I had never been to
- 5:50KT: a WNBA game. Have you, Suze?
- 5:54Suze: You know, I haven't.
- 5:55KT: Not with me, but have you ever?
- 5:57Suze: KT? No.
- 5:58KT: OK, so this was a really big night for us.
- 6:01KT: It's a Saturday night. We're in New York. It's summer.
- 6:05KT: We are so happy to be with our pals Cathy
- 6:08KT: and Hope having the best night. We get there and
- 6:12KT: Suze's pal, Karen Finnerman, Karen, I'm gonna give you a big, big,
- 6:16KT: I love love fest shout out.
- 6:19Suze: You can watch her, by the way, she's always on
- 6:21Suze: Fast Money and has been for years on CNBC.
- 6:24KT: Can I tell them? Karen is one of the owners
- 6:26KT: of Liberty.
- 6:27Suze: Yeah and the WNBA, by the way, KT.
- 6:30KT: Karen invited us, all four of us, to join her
- 6:34KT: and her family and some of her guests for dinner
- 6:37KT: at the Crown Club, which is in the Barclays Center.
- 6:40KT: We loved it. Wait, so we walk in and this woman,
- 6:46KT: blonde woman, very suntanned, looks and beelines to Suze Orman
- 6:51KT: and says, You are sitting next to me, and that
- 6:54KT: woman was another one of my heroes, Diana Nyad. And
- 7:00KT: for those of you that don't remember, and you should,
- 7:03KT: she is a legend mermaid in my opinion.
- 7:07KT: She's the woman that swam after a number of attempts
- 7:12KT: from Cuba to Key West, and she, they made a movie.
- 7:16KT: There was a great movie. I, I don't remember the
- 7:18KT: name of the movie, but a great...
- 7:20Suze: Diana Nyad, but anyway go on.
- 7:21KT: Was that the name of the movie?
- 7:21Suze: I think so.
- 7:23KT: They made a film, um, about her with, uh, Annette
- 7:27KT: Bening and Jodie Foster, and the woman that played that
- 7:31KT: Jodie Foster played Bonnie, who was Diana's kind of best
- 7:35KT: friend and coach throughout that was there, she was there
- 7:38KT: for dinner, so we had a great night.
- 7:41Suze: Tell them about the other woman.
- 7:41KT: There was one more guest there named Candace, a friend
- 7:45KT: of Diana's, also at the table, looked at Suze and said,
- 7:49KT: Have I got a story for you?
- 7:52KT: She said, Suze Orman, I first laid eyes on you
- 7:56KT: at the Buttercup Bakery back in the day when you
- 8:00KT: were a waitress and I had a crush on you.
- 8:04KT: And I would go there with my girlfriends and say,
- 8:07KT: I hope that blonde waitress serves our table.
- 8:11KT: And she said, I went many times for breakfast just
- 8:14KT: looking for you.
- 8:15Suze: But tell them my highlight.
- 8:18KT: Well, wait, then I had a bigger highlight than Suze's.
- 8:21KT: So Karen looks at me, says, KT, on your way
- 8:23KT: in to watch the, the warm up because we had
- 8:27KT: VIP seats on your way in,
- 8:29KT: don't miss the candy room, I said. The what? she said,
- 8:33KT: there's a candy room, and you get to pick all
- 8:36KT: the candy and popcorn you want, bring it to your seat,
- 8:40KT: and have a blast. So we...
- 8:42Suze: So I'm looking for KT. I'm looking all over for her.
- 8:46KT: It's like almost game time.
- 8:47Suze: It's the time for the game to start.
- 8:50Suze: Where is KT? Nobody can find her. All of a sudden, everybody,
- 8:54Suze: she comes walking out with an armful of candy, Good
- 8:59Suze: and Plenty, Nestle's Crunch, popcorn, M&Ms. Really, she couldn't hold
- 9:06Suze: anything else in her arms. I go, and we don't
- 9:09Suze: eat sugar. Got that?
- 9:10Suze: Well we did that night, but, and I go, are
- 9:13Suze: you crazy? So anyway, so then we head into the arena.
- 9:19KT: We go in and to our surprise, something happened that
- 9:24KT: none of us, none of us expected.
- 9:27Suze: Especially me.
- 9:28KT: And it wasn't my arm full of candy.
- 9:31KT: So Suze walks in with Cathy and Hope before me
- 9:34KT: and I'm struggling holding all the treats and all of
- 9:37KT: a sudden the whole section on the right side of
- 9:42KT: the arena burst into cheers and applause.
- 9:48KT: Not for the players, not for the team, not even
- 9:52KT: for Caitlin Clark, but for Suze Orman. Oh my God.
- 9:58KT: They were screaming, Suze, Suze, and in typical New York style,
- 10:04KT: they just rushed her, the fans, Suze fans from back
- 10:09KT: in the day, wanting pictures, autographs, and to tell her
- 10:15KT: how they listened to her and made a ton of money.
- 10:19Suze: Right, a ton of money. One woman...
- 10:22KT: What a night we had.
- 10:23Suze: One woman leaned over and said, Because of you, I
- 10:24Suze: have 1.5, and I said, 1.5 million? She said, Well,
- 10:29Suze: of course, Suze, what else would I be telling you about?
- 10:32Suze: It was fabulous.
- 10:33KT: It was fabulous. It was fun, fun, fun.
- 10:35Suze: Right? But I have to make an announcement, KT. I
- 10:39Suze: wore a jacket that night that was...
- 10:42KT: Wait, they have to look at the photos. Did you post them?
- 10:44Suze: Of course I posted them. All right, you can do
- 10:47Suze: it on the Women and Money app, see it, or
- 10:49Suze: on Instagram, however.
- 10:51Suze: I wore a jacket that said on the back of it,
- 10:54Suze: 'All You Need is Love,' and I wore that for
- 10:57Suze: a reason because I want the women to stop fighting.
- 11:00Suze: I can't stand it anymore. Stop being cruel to each other,
- 11:04Suze: being rough with each other. Understand that you have a
- 11:08Suze: great thing going now. Don't ruin it. And all of
- 11:14Suze: you sent me so many emails saying, where'd you get
- 11:17Suze: that jacket? I want that jacket. I love that jacket, jacket, jacket, jacket,
- 11:22Suze: and then I told a few of you, I got
- 11:25Suze: it online, at a place called Elan, E L A N,
- 11:30Suze: just a few of you, and then all of a
- 11:32Suze: sudden I realized, uh oh, and I went on Elan's site.
- 11:36Suze: It was only $67 by the way, not that that's only,
- 11:40Suze: but it wasn't like an expensive, expensive jacket, and now
- 11:43Suze: they're almost all sold out.
- 11:45Suze: So anyway...
- 11:47KT: (KT and Suze sing a little bit)
- 11:47Suze: All right, now, KT, we have now wasted, maybe wasted,
- 11:54Suze: but maybe not
- 11:55KT: No wasting. We're sharing...
- 11:56Suze: We're entertaining...
- 11:58KT: ... our fun stories.
- 11:59Suze: All right, because maybe you missed us and you missed
- 12:01Suze: our stories and what have we been doing. And now you know.
- 12:04KT: There's also some good advice you have to share with
- 12:08KT: everyone about Alliant.
- 12:09Suze: Oh, so, oh, listen to me.
- 12:12Suze: My Alliant.com. Write it down. My Alliant A L L
- 12:18Suze: I A N T.com. They have come out with a
- 12:23Suze: 12-month certificate for 4.10 APY and for amounts, by the
- 12:31Suze: way of $75,000 or more, 4.15 APY. Now the reason
- 12:38Suze: that I'm stressing this right now is that is one
- 12:41Suze: of the highest rates out there at this point in time.
- 12:46Suze: There's a few that have a little bit higher, but
- 12:50Suze: there's some catch to it. There's one that's higher, but
- 12:53Suze: it's for 14 months. But remember, with the Alliant Credit
- 12:58Suze: Union certificate...
- 13:00Suze: For 12 months, it could be for 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,
- 13:07Suze: or 17. So if you wanted to, because the minimum
- 13:11Suze: needed is $1,000 that's all you could stage it all
- 13:16Suze: the way for 12 months, 13 months, 14 months, and
- 13:19Suze: lock in that rate. Or you could just go to
- 13:22Suze: 17 months and lock in that rate for that period
- 13:26Suze: of time or just do the 12 month or whatever
- 13:30Suze: you want. That is a great, great rate. It is
- 13:35Suze: above the 12 month treasury right now, which makes it,
- 13:39Suze: no matter kind of what state you're in, OK to
- 13:42Suze: do it. Again, it is insured by NCUA. I am
- 13:47Suze: telling you, finally, and I have to say finally because
- 13:50Suze: it's been a while, sorry, Alliant, but it's true.
- 13:53Suze: It has been a while since you have offered a
- 13:57Suze: rate that is so competitive that it got me excited,
- 14:01Suze: and that is why I'm talking about it now. I
- 14:04Suze: don't know how long they're going to keep it in there.
- 14:07KT: Just do it.
- 14:08Suze: So, if you're looking to lock in a higher rate,
- 14:12Suze: if you have money that's in a bank account at
- 14:15Suze: like 0.5% or something, go to myalliant.com and now finally
- 14:23Suze: put your money, if you want to, in the twelve-month certificate.
- 14:29Suze: Just that simple. 4.10 APY - 75,000 or above, 4.15. All right,
- 14:38Suze: what do you got, KT?
- 14:40KT: So I have only one letter that I want to
- 14:44KT: discuss today.
- 14:46KT: Today's our kind of bonus pop-up day. I know how
- 14:50KT: I feel, but I don't know how she feels.
- 14:52Suze: And I want all of you to think about how
- 14:55Suze: you would feel if you were in this situation, because
- 14:59Suze: this is not the only letter that we get like this.
- 15:02Suze: All right, go on, KT.
- 15:03KT: OK, so this is, um, again about a breakup. It said,
- 15:07KT: Dear Suze and KT,
- 15:09KT: My boyfriend and I were together for a little over
- 15:12KT: 11 years. Over the last few years, he's been telling
- 15:16KT: me to go all in on Moderna stock by putting
- 15:20KT: everything I have in that stock. I am 44 years
- 15:24KT: old and I've been saving and investing since my early twenties.
- 15:29KT: I have a 401k, a Roth IRA, a traditional IRA,
- 15:35KT: a pension plan, and I have investments that have enabled
- 15:40KT: me to have almost $2 million in savings and investments.
- 15:46KT: I own my car, Suze, it's 13 years old and
- 15:49KT: I still love it.
- 15:51KT: I bought my first home for cash and sold it
- 15:54KT: at a profit a few years later, and now I've
- 15:57KT: been living with my mother, I've been working so hard
- 16:00KT: to make wise investments and build a fund where I
- 16:03KT: can buy a nice home in cash for my boyfriend
- 16:06KT: and I to live and build our life together. We
- 16:10KT: have had a tumultuous relationship and have been on and
- 16:13KT: off all these years. He's 12 years older than me
- 16:18KT: and doesn't have much money or savings.
- 16:21KT: So Suze, he's 56 right now. Ready? Listen to this, everyone.
- 16:26KT: So she said he keeps thin margins. He says he's
- 16:30KT: an entrepreneur that buys and sells internet domains for a living,
- 16:34KT: and he's great at it. Moderna stock has been not
- 16:38KT: for the faint of heart through the years. I have
- 16:42KT: bought shares and then lost quite a bit.
- 16:46KT: Then my boyfriend wanted to options trade and try to
- 16:50KT: make money that way on the stock, and we lost
- 16:54KT: everything we bet. I finally sold all the Moderna stock
- 16:58KT: I owned and invested in stocks that I thought were
- 17:02KT: wiser and that have consistently performed well for me throughout
- 17:06KT: the years.
- 17:07KT: I have an Alliant savings account per your advice, and
- 17:11KT: I've been focused on ensuring I have the money to
- 17:14KT: buy a home and have savings for emergencies. So when
- 17:19KT: Moderna stock went up significantly last Wednesday, August 19th, due
- 17:25KT: to the successful cancer trial, my boyfriend was furious with me.
- 17:33KT: I can't believe this. He kept pressuring me to invest
- 17:37KT: everything I could immediately to try to earn whatever I
- 17:41KT: could in the upswing that day, but Suze, I didn't
- 17:45KT: have any money to invest in that, and I failed
- 17:48KT: my boyfriend.
- 17:51KT: I, oh my goodness, wait, listen to this, everyone. All right,
- 17:54KT: I know how Suze and I both feel about him,
- 17:57KT: but listen to this. Ultimately he broke up with me.
- 18:01Suze: Thank God.
- 18:02KT: Wait, because that was our opportunity to buy one or
- 18:06KT: two homes anywhere we wanted, and I messed up. I
- 18:10KT: failed him. I made the biggest mistake by not listening
- 18:14KT: to him through the years, and I'll never be able
- 18:18KT: to make this right.
- 18:20KT: I feel so much shame. I feel stupid. I can't
- 18:24KT: fix this. I have tried to make wise decisions with
- 18:28KT: my money all these years, and I ultimately missed out
- 18:32KT: on the biggest opportunity by not at least keeping some
- 18:37KT: Moderna stock when it was $22 a share. I could
- 18:42KT: have put money towards that and kept the faith. Instead,
- 18:46KT: I failed.
- 18:48KT: Oh, I am not a big risk taker, and I
- 18:51KT: think things through before I act. Suze, so how can
- 18:56KT: I take more risk in the stock market and be
- 18:59KT: comfortable with it? How do I balance smart money moves
- 19:03KT: and the feelings and well-being of my partner? Well, not
- 19:08KT: my partner any more. And then it signs sincerely, filled
- 19:13KT: with shame and heartbreak.
- 19:16KT: I can't believe that we got this email, Suze.
- 19:19Suze: We just got it. Look at the date on it.
- 19:22KT: 24th.
- 19:23Suze: We just got this. Just got this.
- 19:24KT: And that's why we're actually also doing this...
- 19:27Suze: Podcast because of this one email that, that I read.
- 19:32Suze: KT read. So do you wanna go first or you
- 19:36Suze: want me to?
- 19:37KT: I want you to tell, tell everyone, how do you? I,
- 19:40KT: they know how I feel. How do you feel?
- 19:43Suze: Listen to me, the greatest investment that you can ever
- 19:50Suze: make ever, is to have faith in yourself and to
- 19:55Suze: trust yourself more than you trust others, and you did
- 20:00Suze: exactly that.
- 20:02Suze: Why do I have a feeling this loser boyfriend of yours,
- 20:07Suze: and in my opinion, a total loser, he sells internet
- 20:11Suze: and he's good at it. The names of really, are
- 20:14Suze: you kidding me? And in the meantime you have almost
- 20:18Suze: $2 million. You have retirement accounts, you have a pension, savings, investments.
- 20:23Suze: No car payment and enough money to potentially buy a
- 20:26Suze: home for cash. Are you crazy? You did not fail him, girlfriend.
- 20:33Suze: He failed you. Listen, your boyfriend wanted you to gamble
- 20:39Suze: everything you had on one biotechnology stock. Are you crazy?
- 20:44Suze: That is not investing. Listen to me closely. That is
- 20:48Suze: reckless speculation.
- 20:50Suze: You already followed him into the options trading. What about that?
- 20:56Suze: You followed him. You did what he said and you
- 20:58Suze: lost everything. That was your warning that he didn't know
- 21:02Suze: his ass from a hole in the ground. Do you
- 21:05Suze: hear me? We both owned that stock when the COVID happened,
- 21:12Suze: when they had the vaccine for it and everything, and
- 21:15Suze: it went up and then it went down, and guess what?
- 21:18Suze: I sold it just like you did.
- 21:21Suze: You think I'm a loser? You think I missed the
- 21:24Suze: biggest investment opportunity of my life? In the meantime, yeah, sure.
- 21:30Suze: On that day it went up 180% on the 19th,
- 21:36Suze: went as high as 174, where he probably would have
- 21:41Suze: had you buy in. It's now around 147 and who
- 21:46Suze: knew that a trial was going to be successful? Do
- 21:49Suze: you know how many stocks come out and they go
- 21:52Suze: for trial and it doesn't happen? Are you crazy? Remember,
- 21:58Suze: nobody knew what that result was gonna be. And once
- 22:01Suze: that news went public, like I said, that stock exploded.
- 22:06Suze: And that's when you never want to chase it.
- 22:09KT: It's a should have, could have, would have story, and
- 22:11KT: quite honestly, she's blessed that he broke up with her
- 22:17KT: and lucky you, lucky you to get rid of this
- 22:21KT: loser on every level. You know what made me the
- 22:24KT: most upset? Not the Moderna. Wanna hear it?
- 22:28KT: What has he contributed to your future home together? Nowhere
- 22:34KT: in this email is there a mention of his contribution
- 22:39KT: at all.
- 22:41Suze: But here's, here's what I didn't hear.
- 22:43Suze: Nowhere in this letter did he say to her, I
- 22:47Suze: invested in Moderna. I did it. I put everything I
- 22:52Suze: had into it. He, why didn't he, if he was
- 22:56Suze: so certain, why didn't he build his own savings and
- 23:00Suze: invest his own money?
- 23:01KT: Or why didn't he get money from his assets, if
- 23:05KT: he has any, to put in if he was that
- 23:08KT: hell bent, sure that it would work.
- 23:11Suze: Why didn't he and why KT did did his dream
- 23:15Suze: of owning one or two homes depend upon risking everything
- 23:21Suze: that she had worked for, right? He did not break
- 23:24Suze: up with you because you failed to provide him with
- 23:27Suze: two homes. He broke up with you, in my opinion,
- 23:30Suze: because you would not surrender control of your money to
- 23:34Suze: what he wanted. And by the way, I just have
- 23:37Suze: to tell you that is what I call financial coercion,
- 23:42Suze: not a partnership. He was coercing you to do something
- 23:47Suze: that isn't what partners do, and...
- 23:50KT: Wait, we have to stop being so excited. We're both really...
- 23:53Suze: I'm so aggravated at this.
- 23:54KT: We're both mad. We're both mad. So let's, let's talk
- 23:57KT: it out, Suze.
- 23:58Suze: So wait, let me tell her what she needs to do.
- 24:00KT: Just talk gently now because we're yelling at everybody. They
- 24:04KT: don't want to hear us yelling.
- 24:08Suze: Argh!
- 24:08KT: Calm down.
- 24:09Suze: So here's what you need to do, right? You don't
- 24:13Suze: need to become more comfortable taking more risk. You need
- 24:19Suze: to become comfortable trusting yourself. Do you hear me? So
- 24:24Suze: here are your rules from this moment forward. Keep every
- 24:30Suze: dollar intended for a home or emergencies completely safe in
- 24:35Suze: the money market accounts in the Alliant Credit Union, if
- 24:38Suze: you want, right, if you know it's gonna be more
- 24:40Suze: of a year, if you want to speculate in individual stocks,
- 24:45Suze: you are never, ever, ever, and this is true for
- 24:48Suze: all of you, by the way, use more than 5%
- 24:52Suze: of your investable money, got that? And only money you
- 24:56Suze: could lose without changing your life. Haven't I told you
- 25:00Suze: all that.
- 25:00Suze: About when it comes to Bitcoin, even though I think
- 25:03Suze: Bitcoin's on its way up, I always said, KT's got
- 25:07Suze: her arms going, Calm down, Suze, calm down.
- 25:12KT: Gentle.
- 25:13Suze: I don't like being gentle.
- 25:13Suze: Just give everybody good information, good advice.
- 25:17Suze: So you know, never speculate with money that if you
- 25:23Suze: lose it, you'll be upset, right.
- 25:26Suze: Next, you are never to trade options to please anybody.
- 25:32Suze: Options is the most speculative strategy out there. There are
- 25:37Suze: two sides to options buying options and selling options. And
- 25:41Suze: do you remember how I became who I am today?
- 25:44Suze: It's because all those people at the Buttercup Bakery that
- 25:49Suze: I worked at for seven years making $400 a month
- 25:53Suze: gave me $50,000 to keep safe and sound until they
- 25:56Suze: could help me open up my own restaurant. They send
- 25:59Suze: me to Merrill Lynch.
- 26:01Suze: The guy that I was assigned to, the broker of
- 26:04Suze: the day, puts all $50,000 into the options market buying
- 26:09Suze: calls on oil stock.
- 26:11KT: You didn't know what that was.
- 26:12Suze: I didn't know what that was, but I said, OK,
- 26:14Suze: all $50,000 was loss. So you never do what somebody
- 26:21Suze: else tells you to do, especially number one, if you
- 26:24Suze: don't understand it. And number two, when they tell you
- 26:27Suze: to buy options, you have to be out of your mind.
- 26:31Suze: And never purchase a home with an unmarried partner without
- 26:36Suze: a written legal agreement, KT.
- 26:39Suze: Protecting your ownership and money. Do you hear me now? Obviously, KT,
- 26:47Suze: a partner may have a voice in a shared financial plan. Great, right?
- 26:51Suze: We talk about it all the time all the time, right?
- 26:54Suze: But a partner does not get control over assets you
- 26:59Suze: spent decades building. That is your money, your money.
- 27:04KT: Can I just say something? I just wanna butt in
- 27:06KT: here about us.
- 27:08KT: Often Suze sees opportunities and she instructs, you know, uh,
- 27:14KT: the people that look after our money, what she wants
- 27:17KT: to buy or sell, and then she turns to me
- 27:19KT: and say, KT, would you like to buy some? And
- 27:23KT: I'll say, what do you think, Suze? She said, I
- 27:25KT: think it's good. I'm doing this. And I said, OK,
- 27:27KT: I'll do half. And she says, OK, KT will do half.
- 27:31KT: That's how we do it, Suze always...
- 27:34Suze: Or she says, No, I don't wanna do that.
- 27:36KT: Yeah, many times I didn't like something and I said, Nope,
- 27:39KT: I'm out. And Suze never ever tries to persuade me
- 27:45KT: when the truth is.
- 27:46KT: I should just listen to her every time because it's
- 27:50KT: very rare that she's lost.
- 27:52Suze: But the main thing to this person is you did
- 27:55Suze: not miss your future...
- 27:57KT: And no shame.
- 27:59Suze: ... you protected it, my friend.
- 28:01Suze: You protected it. You know, someday you're gonna realize that
- 28:06Suze: this breakup saved you far more than Moderna ever could
- 28:12Suze: have made you. So promise me, please, that you will
- 28:17Suze: never go back with this person. You never should have
- 28:20Suze: even been with this person.
- 28:23KT: 12 years. He's 12 years. He's 56...
- 28:26Suze: And a loser.
- 28:27KT: You're 44 and young and available, find a partner that
- 28:33KT: is equally as responsible as you.
- 28:35Suze: And I love that you're living with your mother. I love
- 28:40Suze: everything that you're doing. You've built a fortune over time,
- 28:45Suze: little by little, not by one stock that's skyrocketed, and
- 28:51Suze: who knows where it goes from there, so.
- 28:55Suze: How do you feel about it?
- 28:57KT: If she, if, if he tries to come back and make
- 29:00KT: up with her?
- 29:01Suze: Are you crazy? I wouldn't have anything to do with
- 29:04Suze: this person, for all the money in the world, you know,
- 29:08Suze: Maya Angelou had that saying, when somebody first shows you
- 29:12Suze: who they are, you best believe them. This man has
- 29:17Suze: shown you over and over again who he is, and
- 29:22Suze: would I buy him if he were a stock? I
- 29:25Suze: would actually short him. I would short him because in
- 29:29Suze: my opinion he's worthless.
- 29:35KT: OK, listen up, girlfriend. You have a whole lifetime ahead
- 29:40KT: of you and some nice pocket change in the bank.
- 29:44Suze: So I'm going to write this all up and I
- 29:47Suze: am going to email it to you just in case
- 29:50Suze: you haven't listened to this podcast. Now, KT.
- 29:56Suze: That's it. We're over. But there is one more thing
- 30:00Suze: I wanna remind all of you about.
- 30:01KT: The reminder of our big October talk,
- 30:04Suze: Because it's coming October 3rd and 4th at the Alex
- 30:10Suze: Theater in Glendale, California is a tremendous celebration for Louise
- 30:17Suze: Hay's 100th birthday.
- 30:20Suze: Um, obviously, she died a number of years ago, but
- 30:24Suze: you got to celebrate her. We all celebrate her because
- 30:28Suze: her work literally transformed millions and millions of people throughout
- 30:34Suze: this world to show them how to live lives full
- 30:38Suze: of love.
- 30:39Suze: Happiness, productivity, and power, which is why they call it
- 30:45Suze: the Empower event. So all you have to do is
- 30:49Suze: go to Suze, S U Z E, Suze Orman.com/empower, E
- 30:55Suze: M P O W E R.
- 30:58Suze: Look at it there now all the VIP tickets have
- 31:01Suze: been sold out. They're almost sold out of the general
- 31:05Suze: admission tickets. I was told the other day. I am
- 31:09Suze: speaking on October 4th. I am the closing keynote, and afterwards, everybody,
- 31:16Suze: don't ask me why I am crazy enough to have
- 31:19Suze: done this, but I'm going to be doing a meet
- 31:22Suze: and greet with all of you and guess who's gonna
- 31:26Suze: be right by my side? KT! So you can come
- 31:30Suze: and meet both of us. Tickets are $100. However, look
- 31:36Suze: at everything that you do get for it again, that's
- 31:40Suze: for two full days and many other things, but come on,
- 31:45Suze: go to...
- 31:45Suze: ...if you're in the LA area, by the way, Suze
- 31:48Suze: Orman.com/empower and come on out. So KT, we did a
- 31:55Suze: live podcast.
- 31:57KT: And we only want you to remember three things, and
- 31:59KT: they are people first, then money, then things. Now you...
- 32:03Suze: Stay safe. All right, everybody, see you soon. Bye bye.
