- 0:01Speaker 1: Local Radio Radio Radio Commies a Myth and Bullshit, a
- 0:16Speaker 1: radio phonic novella Local Radio hosted by Malamola La Locomotrees.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Welcome to Season three of Local Radio. Because fem revenge
- 0:29Speaker 1: has never sounded so sweet. Local Radio is a radio
- 0:33Speaker 1: phonic novella archiving the brilliance and legacies of women and
- 0:37Speaker 1: firms of color. I'm Theosa and we are less Mommies
- 0:40Speaker 1: of Myth and Bullshit. Radio radio phonic novela, which is
- 0:45Speaker 1: just a really extra way of saying a podcast. Last
- 0:50Speaker 1: time on Look at a Radio, we interviewed poet and
- 0:53Speaker 1: our homegirl Yesicado, in the making of Edmosa, her third
- 0:58Speaker 1: poetry book, Yes, the completion of her trilogy Um starting
- 1:03Speaker 1: with and Then and Now at Mosa. Yes, I mean
- 1:08Speaker 1: some of the most iconic book covers I think ever ever.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So Um And that was really fun. We had a
- 1:16Speaker 1: great time. It's always so amazing to have Yessika in
- 1:19Speaker 1: the studio. Um. She's an actual homegirl, like she's the
- 1:24Speaker 1: real deal and like she's brilliant. There's nothing not to love,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you know, absolutely, And it was also so great because
- 1:32Speaker 1: we are just all so busy that you know, the
- 1:35Speaker 1: homegirl time like in the flesh in real life is scarce. Um.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Usually we only get together on birthdays and Mommy Christmas
- 1:44Speaker 1: and the Mommy Versary. It's like, you know, however many
- 1:46Speaker 1: times a year that is. But anyway, so after we recorded,
- 1:49Speaker 1: we went out and we had lunch and we had
- 1:51Speaker 1: drinks and we got to catch up and just spend
- 1:53Speaker 1: the whole day together. It was really cute. It was
- 1:55Speaker 1: cute because we haven't had like a marathon hang out
- 1:58Speaker 1: in a while, and that's what that was. Like. Our
- 2:01Speaker 1: our deal was like marathon hangouts all day into the night,
- 2:06Speaker 1: thing after thing after thing, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Yes,
- 2:09Speaker 1: occasionally talk on Tuesday like it's fine. Yes. So that
- 2:14Speaker 1: was cute. That was real cute. Thank you, Yesica, Thank
- 2:16Speaker 1: you Yessica. And we hope you enjoyed the interview. If

- 4:02Speaker 1: on Spotify and audio boom. Visit our website look at
- 4:05Speaker 1: thought our radio dot com, and follow us on Twitter
- 4:07Speaker 1: and Instagram at look at Underscore Radio. Thank you, thank
- 4:11Speaker 1: you so much. Also, in look at That a news
- 4:14Speaker 1: and Look at That a press coverage, we had the
- 4:18Speaker 1: immense honor of being featured in the Oprah magazine Oprah Opra,
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Oprah She blessed us, Oprah. Yeah, we have the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Oprah Seal of Approvement, the co sign. I am thrilled,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I am beside myself, I am in disbelief. I'm grateful. Also,
- 4:40Speaker 1: let me just say that no, no shade to Forbes,
- 4:44Speaker 1: but this is more exciting than Forbes. Oprah is way
- 4:47Speaker 1: more exciting to me in my personal opinion, I'm like, no,
- 4:51Speaker 1: this is this is it? Well, I think it's just
- 4:52Speaker 1: two different lanes. One is business a VI and then
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oprah is just like encompasses everything, like thank you about it. Um.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I was thinking about it yesterday because I was at
- 5:02Speaker 1: the store and I was like, I'm a boy myself
- 5:04Speaker 1: flowers because we made it into Oprah magazine and that's
- 5:06Speaker 1: super cool. Um. And I was just thinking about how
- 5:11Speaker 1: my mom would watch Oprah, like her talk show, you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: on whatever channel that was on cable television, and it
- 5:18Speaker 1: was amazing, and like I watched that as a kid.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I was like, Oprah was definitely a big part of
- 5:21Speaker 1: our household growing up, you know, I think for a
- 5:24Speaker 1: lot of us too. So anyway for that to like
- 5:27Speaker 1: come back and then be featured with Super Dope, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: you know, shout out to our homegirl, Ariana, the designer
- 5:34Speaker 1: of our logo, because that's like one of one of
- 5:37Speaker 1: the logos, one of three logos that are in that's
- 5:40Speaker 1: included in the banner for the article. So it's really
- 5:43Speaker 1: nice to see our logo front and center. Oh yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I mean again, no tino set to anyone, but I
- 5:49Speaker 1: think our logo is the ship. Like we have an
- 5:52Speaker 1: amazing logo we do yet it really is just gorgeous. Um.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So yeah, shout out Adriana and shoutout Oprah. Shout out
- 6:00Speaker 1: at Oprah, tag Oprah, y'all, shout out to Oprah, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: also shout out to the journalists Eatina Gonzales for featuring
- 6:08Speaker 1: us alongside many amazing podcasts like in the Thick Show, Um,
- 6:14Speaker 1: Bitter Round Films. I'm like drawing a blank now. It's
- 6:18Speaker 1: because everyone there's a lot of podcasts in their weight
- 6:20Speaker 1: Hold Up Latin Next Therapy, anyway you can, like, we
- 6:23Speaker 1: will link the article. There's so many, there's so many
- 6:27Speaker 1: amazing podcasts, some new podcast as well that we hadn't
- 6:30Speaker 1: seen before. So we're excited to check out those new ones.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Um and yeah, so thank you again to the journalists
- 6:37Speaker 1: for including us. It's also really exciting because a lot
- 6:41Speaker 1: of the times there's been rare occasions where we've been
- 6:43Speaker 1: interviewed for listicals, like for Ellie mag we were, but
- 6:47Speaker 1: we don't we don't get a heads up, so we
- 6:49Speaker 1: really just see it when it comes out. And even then,
- 6:52Speaker 1: like the like when we were in the Forbes listical,
- 6:54Speaker 1: like we didn't see that at all. We only saw
- 6:56Speaker 1: it because shared it, you know. So sometimes things get
- 7:00Speaker 1: like just go by and we don't even know that
- 7:01Speaker 1: it had they happened. Yeah, Usually people like have to
- 7:04Speaker 1: tell us, oh, did you see this, you're in it? Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 1: which is chill. Um. We appreciate everybody who like reaches
- 7:10Speaker 1: out to us when they see us somewhere. Yes, so
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's fun. We have more fun coming up on September nineteen.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We're really thrilled to announce that we're gonna be hosting
- 7:22Speaker 1: a really fun show at the l A Public Library,
- 7:25Speaker 1: the Central Library, the Central Library branch in downtown l A.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So we are wrapping up our partnership with Made in
- 7:33Speaker 1: l A as featured artists. As you know, we did
- 7:36Speaker 1: a series of podcasting one on one workshops at l
- 7:39Speaker 1: A Public Public Library branches throughout the city and county.
- 7:42Speaker 1: So this is kind of like our culmination. Yes, this show.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We're really excited. Um, I can't believe that we're going
- 7:48Speaker 1: to have Sancha Andres not only to be able to
- 7:53Speaker 1: chat with them, to interview them, but also to see
- 7:55Speaker 1: them perform in the flesh. They're both such amazing performers
- 7:59Speaker 1: and I'm like just so proud of us. Yeah, it's
- 8:02Speaker 1: going to be a cute ash show and evening of
- 8:04Speaker 1: music and conversation. Sancha is like is unlike any other
- 8:09Speaker 1: artist you've ever seen. Sancha is truly an artiste, like
- 8:14Speaker 1: an extreme creative And if you've never seen Sancha perform,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know you need to come through. The show is free, Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: the show is free. Literally, just R s v P
- 8:24Speaker 1: show up. It's going to be a good old time.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Maybe we'll have a little after party in a nearby
- 8:29Speaker 1: bar or something. I think we can make that happen.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We'll probably something impromptu, just like come come with us,
- 8:35Speaker 1: everybody come through. Yes, Yeah, who's an incredible vocalist and
- 8:40Speaker 1: danswer and she's just like not that she's just getting started,
- 8:43Speaker 1: but she's just like her career is like she's climbing
- 8:46Speaker 1: right now, you know. So it's like, then, that's what
- 8:48Speaker 1: I love about look at that our radio is that
- 8:51Speaker 1: we get to like snag the artists when they're like climbing,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and then it's like they were here for radio, Like
- 8:58Speaker 1: Romo is one a bitch? Yes, a lot of them,
- 9:04Speaker 1: a lot. There's so many, I'm trying to think. I'm like,
- 9:07Speaker 1: oh my god, it's so many. I mean, all doing
- 9:09Speaker 1: amazing things. Andrea is very influential in the accessibility world
- 9:15Speaker 1: and community. Um we're drawing blinks here, but you know,
- 9:21Speaker 1: exactly so many. I'm just like, we've interviewed so many amazing,
- 9:24Speaker 1: brilliant people. Yeah. Yeah, and it's it's the work continues.
- 9:28Speaker 1: That's the archiving part. Of it having the brilliant this
- 9:31Speaker 1: is how it works. This is how it works. So
- 9:34Speaker 1: that's cute. September nineteen starts at seven pm. We have
- 9:39Speaker 1: some fun stories to share. We do have some fun
- 9:41Speaker 1: stories before we get to that. Um. I was just
- 9:43Speaker 1: looking at our Instagram. Yes, and we had bitch finally
- 9:47Speaker 1: right now we had right finally. I'm so excited. Yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 1: we've been looking forward to this milestone for a long time.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It's like it's not the biggest account, it's not the biggest,
- 10:02Speaker 1: you know, but it's really for us hefty. It's been
- 10:06Speaker 1: an organic growth. And I think that that's why, because
- 10:10Speaker 1: like if I were to sits step back and think of, like,
- 10:13Speaker 1: m where could we improve, I would say we could
- 10:15Speaker 1: improve on our social media in terms of like the
- 10:18Speaker 1: amount of times that we post, you know, quantity over quality.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I think sometimes we play that because like it's like, okay,
- 10:26Speaker 1: well we don't really have anything really good to post,
- 10:28Speaker 1: so we won't post anything. Almost anything which doesn't necessarily
- 10:31Speaker 1: is not necessarily a good thing, you know, because it
- 10:33Speaker 1: is I G and you have to keep posting. It's
- 10:36Speaker 1: kind of annoying. But I would say that it's it's
- 10:40Speaker 1: in spite of that, to get to the twenty k
- 10:42Speaker 1: is exciting, you know, and like, we'll just continue growing
- 10:45Speaker 1: and figuring out our strategy for social media and shout
- 10:50Speaker 1: out to our digital media intern Alanni's who um makes
- 10:54Speaker 1: our visuals are graphics for the Instagram because they are beautiful.
- 10:59Speaker 1: They are popping in They're so beautiful. She does a
- 11:01Speaker 1: great job, she has great work. We love the aesthetic
- 11:04Speaker 1: that she has helped us to create. Definitely, twenty k.
- 11:09Speaker 1: We're rich, bitch. Now, Like that can translate into some
- 11:12Speaker 1: dollars that would be great. I would love that. Yes, yes,
- 11:16Speaker 1: all right, Okay, So we have a new little segment
- 11:20Speaker 1: that we're launching today called Local lust Note Lust Notes
- 11:25Speaker 1: Baby lest Notes. Were so excited. We have stories, we
- 11:28Speaker 1: have adventures, we have some end of summer content that
- 11:32Speaker 1: we would like to share. Absolutely. Um, we're closing out
- 11:36Speaker 1: Hot Girl Summer basically with two bangs and we'll explain
- 11:40Speaker 1: what that means shortly. So what were you doing last
- 11:43Speaker 1: night the ASA? Okay, so I will say that, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: being in a committed relationship, the sex just gets better. Okay, Yes,
- 11:52Speaker 1: with practice, With practice, you know what the other likes
- 11:56Speaker 1: and you get to like try new things and like
- 11:58Speaker 1: all that stuff. That's really great. Um, and we like
- 12:03Speaker 1: have been so busy the past month. I feel like
- 12:05Speaker 1: we haven't really had time to take our time, you know.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So last night was definitely one of those moments or
- 12:14Speaker 1: one of those nights where it's just like, okay, look,
- 12:15Speaker 1: we have nothing, like we literally have nothing else to do,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Like we weren't like we didn't even go out to dinner,
- 12:21Speaker 1: Like I literally just went over and we were just
- 12:23Speaker 1: like together because we were both really tired from the week.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So it's like, Okay, this is the opportunity to just
- 12:28Speaker 1: like do it, but do it really well. Yes, you
- 12:32Speaker 1: know so yes, so it was amazing. I cannot share
- 12:37Speaker 1: too many details because you know, my man is my
- 12:40Speaker 1: man and uh you know his coworkers we listen and sometimes,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, so I can't share too many details. Oh
- 12:48Speaker 1: my god, it's just so funny because all our coworkers
- 12:52Speaker 1: are listening, right, I'm like I can't share too much. Um,
- 12:58Speaker 1: but yes, um, so it was amazing. Um. I was
- 13:03Speaker 1: like telling MoMA was like, yeah, girl, I was broken,
- 13:05Speaker 1: like broken. I was like, don't even talk to me
- 13:08Speaker 1: about rounds. I was broken, you know, it'd be like
- 13:14Speaker 1: that sometimes and I'm like, who, like, that's a good session. Yes,
- 13:18Speaker 1: who has the stamina for the multiple rounds? I don't anymore,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and just like one really intense, good one and I'm like,
- 13:25Speaker 1: put me to bed, like I'm done. So I'm really
- 13:28Speaker 1: happy for you. And what's so great is that we
- 13:31Speaker 1: were both getting it good last night at the same time. Probably, yes, definitely,
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yosa and I were just you know, we were getting
- 13:41Speaker 1: it concurrently and we didn't even know it. I didn't
- 13:44Speaker 1: even know how texted each other in the morning and
- 13:46Speaker 1: we're like, okay, so this is what happened, what happened, Okay,
- 13:49Speaker 1: so tell me what happened last night, Mama. I'm so
- 13:51Speaker 1: excited to finally have a fucking whole story to share.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Thank god. You know, I wanted to ask you maybe, okay,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I can edit this out if you don't want anyone
- 13:58Speaker 1: to know. Did you have any hookups wing you were
- 14:00Speaker 1: in Europe? No, Okay, I was curious, let me ask you.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Part of it was like, I mean, yes, safety first,
- 14:08Speaker 1: blah blah blah. But you know my sister and my friends,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you know, they're very uh, they wanted us all to
- 14:14Speaker 1: get home safely and not get traffic, which is very
- 14:16Speaker 1: which is important. They were like, mala. They were like,
- 14:20Speaker 1: they were like, bitch, you're coming home with us every night.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I'm like every night. They're like, yes, you're before
- 14:29Speaker 1: you went on the trip. Of course, of course they
- 14:30Speaker 1: did before, Yes, before we even got to the airport.
- 14:34Speaker 1: They were like, you're coming home with us every night.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was like, fine, I guess. So now I didn't
- 14:39Speaker 1: hook up with anybody, Okay, so and you have some
- 14:45Speaker 1: you have a story for us. It's been a dry spell, bitch,
- 14:47Speaker 1: and finally I got, you know, some fucking relief yesterday.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So I go out to UM at the Music Center Park.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So obviously shout out DJ Zuri DJ is a fantastic,
- 15:01Speaker 1: amazing night. We end up at a different location and
- 15:05Speaker 1: then I meet someone and obviously I'm like, let's fucking go.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Let's do this. So we go home together and then
- 15:13Speaker 1: he says to me, as we're getting started, I put
- 15:16Speaker 1: on some Stephen Universe, you know, to just like set
- 15:18Speaker 1: the mood. He was like, oh my god, I love
- 15:23Speaker 1: this show. It was great and so then um, so
- 15:28Speaker 1: then he tells me, He's like, I'm going to fuck
- 15:30Speaker 1: you all night and you know, maybe talking about the
- 15:33Speaker 1: stupid maybe talking and I don't right, I'm like, okay, bitch,
- 15:38Speaker 1: this man, oh my god, talk about rounds. Like his
- 15:43Speaker 1: refractory period was so short, and that's usually not common
- 15:47Speaker 1: for men. It's not women have the like the higher Yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden, bitch at six am and he's like,
- 15:53Speaker 1: do you have another condom? I'm like, oh my god.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm like, actually, yes, I have a lot more condoms.
- 15:59Speaker 1: But how is the still happening? How is your dick
- 16:01Speaker 1: still hard? It never got soft, bitch, like even after
- 16:05Speaker 1: you know, ejaculation. This is lots of details, but I marveling.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I honestly, it was like a miracle of nature that
- 16:13Speaker 1: I have never witnessed before. So it was a lot
- 16:16Speaker 1: of fun. He was super chill. Um finally got my
- 16:20Speaker 1: back broken. Yes, girl, get your back blown out on it.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So that's my story. Good. And so how was it
- 16:28Speaker 1: when he left this morning? Oh, bitch, okay, because you know,
- 16:31Speaker 1: my house is like very hectic. I have there's a
- 16:34Speaker 1: lot going on at my house, So there was there's
- 16:38Speaker 1: a very short window of time in the mornings when
- 16:41Speaker 1: I can sneak people in and out of my apartment.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So my grandma wakes up at four am to water
- 16:46Speaker 1: all the plants and then she goes back inside for
- 16:48Speaker 1: her like mid morning nap. And then my mom is
- 16:51Speaker 1: going to like get up at some point and start
- 16:53Speaker 1: fussing all over the yard and like bothering you. She
- 16:56Speaker 1: does lots of things, so she's going to start running
- 16:57Speaker 1: around and like I don't know, laying down cement or
- 17:00Speaker 1: some ship. So then that's my mom. And then my
- 17:03Speaker 1: grandpa when he decides to come outside, he sits in
- 17:05Speaker 1: the backyard in his wheelchair with his fly swatter and
- 17:09Speaker 1: his bible and just camps out. And then all the
- 17:12Speaker 1: dogs and Papa's is going to bark his ass off.
- 17:15Speaker 1: So there's like several layers of obstacles that this person
- 17:18Speaker 1: has to get through before he can go home. When
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm being seen also without being seen, and I'm not
- 17:24Speaker 1: going to walk his ask down, I'm like okay. But
- 17:26Speaker 1: and then I locked myself in the apartment and I
- 17:28Speaker 1: just hope you're not. Yeah, So that's that was this morning.
- 17:32Speaker 1: And you know what, once again I successfully got it
- 17:36Speaker 1: and got out, and it was Yes, that's how I
- 17:38Speaker 1: feel when I like have to sneak back into my house.
- 17:41Speaker 1: There's like a small window of opportunity before my dad
- 17:45Speaker 1: is like showering and like making coffee for everyone and
- 17:48Speaker 1: like doing all those things, like just whole morning things,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you know, the morning routine. And I have to like
- 17:53Speaker 1: sneak back in and into my room and like put
- 17:56Speaker 1: on pj's as if I'm just like, oh, I'm just
- 17:58Speaker 1: like poppy miss somebody like a fit, you know what
- 18:02Speaker 1: i mean, like really trying to play it off, like
- 18:04Speaker 1: I said, the whole night there. I love it. And
- 18:06Speaker 1: the worst part is when he's already in the kitchen
- 18:08Speaker 1: and I'm opening the door and he goes, uh huh
- 18:11Speaker 1: when does no chick? And I'm like, Okay, well you
- 18:16Speaker 1: know where I'm at, you know. So it's not like
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'm like and vaga, which is whatever if I was
