- 0:10It's just like that! We're back! created by Brian
- 0:39himself, so you can either send praise or hate
- 0:43to him. The summer breeze segment, we'll get
- 0:46into that at the end of the show. Listen, I needed
- 0:48a new segment for Jack to hate even more than
- 0:50Michael the Week. Well, the Michael is around.
- 0:53We're apparently we're doing the Michael the
- 0:55Week and then we're doing the summer breeze.
- 0:57So if I don't lose my cool during Michael, maybe
- 1:00I'll enjoy summer breeze. We'll see. We shall
- 1:03see. But like I said, Jampack Show. new segment,
- 1:07so we will try and get through that one. But
- 1:09before we get a word from SeaGeek, Mr. Jack,
- 1:12you've been MIA for a little bit, for good reasons,
- 1:15of course, down in Aruba. Don't look as tan as
- 1:17I thought you might have been. How was the trip,
- 1:20man? I got a little bit of color on me, you know,
- 1:23but now the trip was great. Bright, bright white
- 1:29lights here. Definitely killing my vibe, but
- 1:32it was a great trip. Beaches. casinos, great
- 1:36restaurants, fresh, fresh fish. I mean, just
- 1:38everything you want in a trip. Yeah, I'm glad
- 1:41you didn't get white lotus. Yeah, I can't believe
- 1:44you would text me that while I'm on vacation
- 1:46in like a resort style area. That's the only
- 1:49thing that went through my head the rest of that
- 1:51day. I heard some other like patrons, you know
- 1:56enjoying themselves and talk it like just mention
- 1:58the words white lotus and I just like whip my
- 2:01head around at them like making sure I Got their
- 2:03faces and stayed the heck away from them because
- 2:06I like my vacations man And I'm not trying to
- 2:08have it get shot up or whatever else happens
- 2:11in white lotus a lot of bad things How'd you
- 2:13do in the casinos? You know what? I hope they're
- 2:17not listening right now because they're gonna
- 2:19ban me or try to come after my money again, but
- 2:21I did really, really well. Shout out my mom.
- 2:24Me and her were playing some three card poker.
- 2:27I walked away at two o 'clock in the morning
- 2:29with like 500 bucks. Really wanted to throw it
- 2:32all down on a couple of hands of blackjack and
- 2:34she wouldn't let me. And I was just being a good
- 2:37son listening to my mom and going to bed that
- 2:39night. While we were hot, didn't have the chance
- 2:42to throw it all away. Shout out moms for that
- 2:44one. Yeah, well, this is the part where you edit
- 2:47it to make it sound like you did bad so the IRS
- 2:50doesn't come for Jack I Didn't come home. I look
- 2:55when you go through those the customs in the
- 2:57airport They're like, hey you taking home any
- 2:59valuables anything like that $10 ,000 cash. I'm
- 3:02like, nope. Nope. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing good
- 3:05Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if that would
- 3:08be an IRS situation would it? You gotta make
- 3:12more money than I did. Yeah, I had a good 10
- 3:15G's I had a good weekend or you know good few
- 3:19days week Gamblin, but by no means does anybody
- 3:23need to come after me I don't make nearly enough
- 3:25money for that and last question before we We
- 3:28jump into it. Yeah, the side. I there what? One
- 3:33day you will Subscribe but let me get this out.
- 3:37What what were they paying you out it and it
- 3:39was USD casinos. Yeah That's how they roll down
- 3:42there. Only been to one of the Bahamas and it
- 3:44was USD as well, but I didn't know how that quite
- 3:48worked. Aruba is a very Americanized island.
- 3:53A lot of people are speaking English. Menus are
- 3:56in English. US dollars, all that good stuff.
- 4:00Yeah, I might be outing myself for being a moron.
- 4:02Aruba is its own country? It is, but it's like
- 4:06a Dutch... It's a Dutch. It's like it's its own
- 4:08country, but it's like also a Dutch territory
- 4:11or something. It's like Puerto Rico is a territory
- 4:14of the US, but they're a Dutch territory. OK,
- 4:16I got you. But they're their own country. Yeah.
- 4:19But I will say, you know, you really don't get
- 4:22the whole Dutch vibe. There's like a couple of
- 4:24places, you know, old Dutch taverns and all that
- 4:27kind of stuff. But it's a very Americanized island.
- 4:30You see a lot more dominoes and KFCs than you
- 4:33do to Dutch things. No Van Dykes walking around.
- 4:36I don't even know what that is, Brian. It's the
- 4:39Defender, right? Was he Liverpool, Matt? Yeah,
- 4:42he's on Liverpool. Brian was trying to make a
- 4:44bad joke, Jack. Just let it go. He's Dutch. I
- 4:46think he's Dutch. No, he's not. The Arubans love
- 4:51Xander Bogarts. That's their guy right there.
- 4:55And apparently... Jerks and Profar are like the
- 4:57two goats of... Oh, I didn't know Profar was...
- 5:00a ruby as well but there's apparently another
- 5:02catcher coming up the ranks in the Orioles organization
- 5:06that's a ruby and that's the newest word on the
- 5:09street well you know best ruchman is not playing
- 5:13too hot so you could see him soon i wouldn't
- 5:17think Orioles are playing too hot no i think
- 5:20they have one like five in a row they're still
- 5:2314 under 500 Yeah, either way they got a lot
- 5:26to deal with Charlie Morton one and seven with
- 5:28like a seven ura But let's get into some see
- 5:32geek action real quick. You guys know the deal

- 6:29quick word. Use the code, get free shit. Pretty
- 6:31easy concept. But the Panthers have reached the
- 6:35Stanley Cup final. I don't know, on the other
- 6:39side of the oilers have clinched as well. So
- 6:42we do have a rematch of last year. which saw
- 6:48the Panthers take a three game to zero lead.
- 6:53McDavid give a speech in the locker room, purposely
- 6:57leaked to the public to create this rise, create
- 7:03this comeback story. They did come back, but
- 7:06didn't finish the job. Came back from 3 -0, lost
- 7:09in game seven. I don't know what kind of series
- 7:12we're gonna see here. The Panthers have been
- 7:14really, really tough to stop. Jack, you got to
- 7:18be pretty fired up, man. I mean, this has been
- 7:20your team for the last two Aprils. Yeah, no,
- 7:24I'm very excited, man. The Cats are back in the
- 7:26Stanley Cup, three straight seasons. Last year,
- 7:30it obviously worked out for them, as you just
- 7:32said, beating the Oilers in seven. It was a great
- 7:34series. But two years ago, they lost to the Vegas
- 7:37Golden Knights in a 4 -1 series. Gentleman sweep,
- 7:41never really had a shot kind of thing. they're
- 7:45the best team rig we've seen that for the pa
- 7:49Connor McDavid is as good one man versus three
- 7:53lines Panthers and I would expe to be able to
- 7:58go back to ba again, but I'm never goin and I
- 8:03mean he's he's def pull out that pregame spe
- 8:12But it does scare me a little bit. I mean, this
- 8:14is a rematch of last year's Stanley Cup final,
- 8:18and you know the Oilers are going to be coming
- 8:19out hungry to avenge themselves after what happened
- 8:23last year. Yeah, I'm happy you kind of mentioned
- 8:25you're a little scared because I have a stat
- 8:27that is going to terrify you. I have a lot of
- 8:29stats in this episode. First, before I say that,
- 8:34I know I kind of said we wouldn't make any amendments
- 8:37to this after we set it in stone. But since Jack
- 8:40has been such a big Panthers fan on this show,
- 8:43should we give Jack the Panthers as a team on
- 8:47the leaderboard of championships? But you'd have
- 8:50to sacrifice the White Sox. And you can't get
- 8:53the Panthers retroactively. You mean the Red
- 8:56Sox? Red Sox. What'd I say? White Sox? The Rockies
- 9:01are on my mind. Bad baseball teams are on my
- 9:03mind. Um, but yeah, you've had to sacrifice the
- 9:06Red Sox and you don't get the retroactive title
- 9:08from last year, but you get this one. See, I
- 9:11could do that, but look, I'm into, I really like
- 9:15where Matt was coming at, was coming from, like
- 9:17when, when your team wins it, then you get one.
- 9:20Right. I respect that as much as the Panthers
- 9:23are my hockey team. You know, I've been to a
- 9:27handful of games, man. I'm not, I'm not a diehard
- 9:29Panthers fan. Okay, I'm rooting for me. I'll
- 9:32take I take a half right like a half sack. I
- 9:35could take like a half chip here But I have I
- 9:38just I feel like you're bigger Panthers fan than
- 9:40you are Red Sox fan that that was my thinking
- 9:42But I mean right now yes, but growing up I was
- 9:47a huge Red Sox fan, so I think I think right
- 9:50now pretty equal for what it's worth I would
- 9:53put them pretty cool as far as my fan goes Jack's
- 9:56fandom comes out in April Mean Jack was not gloating
- 10:01panthers hockey in December January and February
- 10:04if the Red Sox are making this unbelievable of
- 10:07Ron in October I guarantee every single day he
- 10:09has a David Ortiz Jersey on so I you know, I
- 10:13I Think both are the same here. It's just the
- 10:17the Panthers are red -hot It's easy for him to
- 10:19express his fandom ship. You know, they're more
- 10:22relevant right now and I only wear the big poppy
- 10:25jerseys on Fridays until Red Sox, October. Manny
- 10:31on Saturday, Pedro on Sunday. There you have
- 10:36it. Brian, I tried to give you some kind of out
- 10:39there to claim a championship, and I'm glad you
- 10:42had some kind of integrity to shut that down.
- 10:45Yeah, no, I was just going to say... What championship
- 10:47do we want to give to Brian? Mets legend Manny
- 10:49Ramirez. No, Brian was trying to open the door
- 10:52for you to get something. No, I was just... He's
- 10:56actively been a Panthers fan. I'm fine with the
- 11:00teams I have. I'm probably not going to get one
- 11:02unless it's the Mets for a while. But either
- 11:03way, the set I have for Jack to put some terrible
- 11:07news into his boots, make him shake in his boots,
- 11:09make him crap his pants, whatever. I can't think
- 11:11of a good metaphor. It's Sunday and it's late.
- 11:14This is obviously a Stanley Cup rematch. The
- 11:16last two Stanley Cup rematches before this we
- 11:20had in 1983, Wayne Gretzky's Islanders take on
- 11:24the Oilers. They lost in 83. They would go on
- 11:29to win in 84. I might have mixed that up. Wayne
- 11:31Gretzky's Oilers take on the Islanders. Gretzky
- 11:34lost in 83, won it in 84. The rematch after that,
- 11:39we had the Red Wings and the Penguins. Sidney
- 11:42Crosby's Penguins. They lost to the Red Wings
- 11:44in 2008, and then they won it in 2009. That's
- 11:48the last two Canadian Goats. We're in the last
- 11:50two Stanley Cup rematches. Lost it the first
- 11:53time, won it the second time. Now we have Connor
- 11:56McDavid lost the first one he's winning the second
- 11:59one It's gonna be tough I mean Big David and
- 12:06dry side all the one two punch that they have
- 12:08is unbelievable, but I Just yeah, you know, I
- 12:16Wouldn't have hated that so much if it didn't
- 12:19have Gretzky and Crosby attached to it because
- 12:22McDavid really is That that next him they're
- 12:27passing the torch Gretzky passed it to Crosby
- 12:29and now Crosby gets to pass it to McDavid Oh
- 12:32Gretzky necessarily passed it to Crosby, but
- 12:34it was close In terms of the next Canadian hockey,
- 12:39but yeah, I mean cross he was definitely him
- 12:41for a long time or Gretzky was done What and
- 12:44the 90s and Crosby was the mid -2000s? Yeah,
- 12:49it's not that much time. That's what I said,
- 12:50it was close. Sitting across from playing hockey
- 12:53my entire life, I feel like. Yeah, it was probably
- 12:55the same gap as like Jordan to LeBron. Either
- 13:00way, Jack, your thoughts on scaredness level?
- 13:04No, look, I mean, this this was a a series that
- 13:08the Panthers almost swept last year and then
- 13:10they almost and then and then they dropped three
- 13:12straight and they almost got reverse swept. Yeah,
- 13:14they almost got reverse swept. So if anything
- 13:18can happen in hockey, I mean, I will say I do
- 13:21think this Panthers team is better than they
- 13:23were last year. I mean, and as long as they play
- 13:27just as hungry, which I think they will, I don't
- 13:30see a reason why they can't win this go back
- 13:32to back there. Don't get me wrong, McDavid and
- 13:36the Oilers are going to be hunting for one. They
- 13:38didn't get to taste it last year. There's probably
- 13:41a picture of all those Oilers just standing on
- 13:48the ice, watching the confetti come down, a Jalen
- 13:51Hurts kind of picture. And they all want it just
- 13:54as bad, if not more, than the Panthers who want
- 13:58to go back to back. So it's going to be a great
- 14:00series, man. It's the finals. This is what we
- 14:02all wait for. Gonna be a great four to seven
- 14:05games over under five and a half fights with
- 14:09Matthew Kachuk Over you don't like Canada Him
- 14:15like Sam bet I mean dude all these guys love
- 14:17to fight. It's half the reason how players Half
- 14:21the reason they're hockey players, and they just
- 14:23love fighting That's a lot of fights. That's
- 14:26like almost a fight a game directly involving
- 14:29Kachuk Yeah, but he's in his blood, man. It's
- 14:32in his blood. We look at Brady as, like, one
- 14:35of the biggest enforcers for Team USA. So, like,
- 14:38let's get it going, man. We're crashing boards.
- 14:41We're throwing right hands, left hands. Let's
- 14:43do it. I don't know about just that guy for five
- 14:47and a half. Definitely see five and a half in
- 14:50the series. Oh, yeah. No, I'm talking about just
- 14:52involving Matthew. I don't think so. And then
- 14:56you gotta then you gotta define fight like one
- 14:58-on -one drop the gloves. Oh Well, no, no, they
- 15:02won't that they won't let that happen skirmish
- 15:05a skirmish can count Yeah, well then you know
- 15:08it so yeah define the fight No, I don't need
- 15:11to expect a speculator anymore man. It's good
- 15:13It's gonna start we can evaluate then but I will
- 15:17take the Panthers to win this one because I do
- 15:19agree They are better than they were last year
- 15:22And the addition of Brad Marchand has been something
- 15:25that I've never seen in hockey before, where
- 15:27you add a superstar caliber guy. He plays on
- 15:30like literally their third line, fourth line
- 15:32right now. And he just buzzes and flies around
- 15:36the ice, brings the energy. He's the one that
- 15:39propelled them in that, was it game seven against
- 15:42the Jets? Or what was that? Or not the Jets?
- 15:47They played a game seven. in the series before
- 15:51this. No, the Maple Leafs. That game center against
- 15:54the Maple Leafs is he looked unbelievable. He
- 15:57brought the energy, and I think he's going to
- 15:58be the difference maker. And that's why I would
- 16:03lean Panthers here. They were already the favorites.
- 16:06Adding Brad Marchand just absolutely puts it
- 16:08over the edge. I understand McDavid's on the
- 16:10other side, but I'm going to stick with the Panthers
- 16:13here. I was, you know, last thing I want to say
- 16:17on this is I really was hoping the Oilers would
- 16:20get balanced so we didn't have a rematch. So
- 16:22we didn't have McDavid and those boys, you know,
- 16:24extra juiced up for a rematch rematch, you know,
- 16:27in the Stanley Cup. But I'm still going with
- 16:29the Panthers. How could I not at this point?
- 16:32Panthers in. Seven again. Yeah, Panthers at seven.
- 16:40God. All right. Well, I'll go Oilers. Did we
- 16:42ever define if the Oilers count? for the pacific
- 16:45northwest west coast can we just say they do
- 16:49so this stupid thing can end and they can win
- 16:52and i don't have to deal with this anymore i'm
- 16:54down dude i'm down okay yeah oilers and five
- 16:57counter mcdavid scores the hat trick in two games
- 17:00you realize that your take would be wrong but
- 17:02yes but i'm just ready for it to end it's in
- 17:05the back of my mind in every major championship
- 17:07like in the team west coast you would get all
- 17:10the backlash is too much too much pressure Pressure,
- 17:14but let's jump over to the hardcore now the NBA
- 17:17playoffs. We finally have an NBA Finals matchup
- 17:21set up Oklahoma City Thunder, which I think a
- 17:24lot of people could have predicted but on the
- 17:25East the Indiana Pacers knock off the New York
- 17:30Knicks and You know the Knicks were celebrating
- 17:34in the second round after they bought beat the
- 17:36Celtics that they were the team of destiny they
- 17:38were the team to beat and I'm not saying they
- 17:41necessarily took the Pacers lightly, but it just
- 17:45felt like, you know, they thought they had it
- 17:47wrapped up after knocking off the Celtics and
- 17:50it was far from the truth. Being wrong. I do
- 17:54have another stat here. The last time the Pacers
- 17:57made it to the NBA finals in 2000, they beat
- 17:59the Knicks also in six games. They would go on
- 18:01to lose to the NBA MVP Shaquille O 'Neal and
- 18:04the Lakers in six. seems like history is about
- 18:08to repeat itself. I mean, I've doubted the Pacers
- 18:11at every turn so far, but I'm going to doubt
- 18:14them again. I think OKC's just looked amazing.
- 18:17Pacers, I mean, look, they could have lost first
- 18:20round. I know you guys filled out brackets. They
- 18:22could have lost first round in the Milwaukee
- 18:24Bucks if Dane was healthy and Giannis was playing.
- 18:29Yeah, I think I think I may have as well. So,
- 18:31you know. I want to see dame and the honest where
- 18:34I wanted to see that work out for them to Milwaukee,
- 18:36you know, get dame a ring wasn't going to happen.
- 18:39But, you know, Pacers, they blew by them and
- 18:42then they get the number one seed in the East,
- 18:44the Cleveland Cavaliers. And I know Matt thinks
- 18:46that they were frauds from the start. It's fair
- 18:48to think that, especially after what happened
- 18:50here, but, but, you know, they took, they took
- 18:53care of the number one seed, uh, Donovan Mitchell,
- 18:56who the first team all pro or all NBA. I guess
- 19:00they do a series there there by the to the Knicks
- 19:05and you're r thinking they're the team though,
- 19:10man, they're, th the spurs. I've said it a look
- 19:14like 2013 2014 spurs basketball, extremely eff
- 19:20about to go up against o know, efficient defenses
- 19:24just gonna be a phenomen I'm excited for the
- 19:29Pacers, man. I'm happy for them. Yeah, you get
- 19:31the Pacers who don't turn the ball over. I mean,
- 19:34Halliburton in their last two wins had 50 points,
- 19:3830 assists, and four total turnovers in two games.
- 19:41You have that against the Thunder who kill you
- 19:45and make you turn the ball over 25 times a game.
- 19:49It's going to be fun. As dominant as the Pacers
- 19:53have looked, I always go back to how different
- 19:56this series could have been. If that bounce on
- 20:00the back of the rim on that Tyrese Halliburton
- 20:02shot in game one doesn't somehow just land through
- 20:05the hoop Instead we're we're at game seven right
- 20:08now But he gets that bounce like the Pacers look
- 20:11so dominant and they still needed that crazy
- 20:13comeback and that shot To get out of here in
- 20:16six and then you have the thunder on the other
- 20:18side that have just ran through everybody Brian
- 20:22just like trying to like say that these playoffs
- 20:25haven't been boring the the Fred Van Fleet makes
- 20:52$30 million, which shouldn't ever happen. You
- 20:54know, crazy stuff happens because the ball takes
- 20:57one bounce. That's why we watch scores, man.
- 21:00I mean, you can't blame it. I'm just saying like
- 21:02it's the I feel like a lot of talking heads are
- 21:05going to be like the Knicks got killed in this
- 21:07series and I didn't see it that way. No, they
- 21:10got screwed in most of their games. I still stand
- 21:13by this. I mean, that was that was pretty egregious
- 21:15to watch with all the fouls. I do really think
- 21:19that they need to figure out something. You can't
- 21:20just have people falling for three straight minutes
- 21:22to finish a basketball game. Tibbidoz also got
- 21:25to learn how to play a bench. I also agree with
- 21:30that, and I know you were bringing this up a
- 21:32lot. At what point do we blame Tibbidoz if he
- 21:34can't get it done? I know none of the players
- 21:37are going to blame him. I don't think a ton of
- 21:39fans are going to blame him. You know, ton of
- 21:41Knicks fans are going to blame him, but they
- 21:43really should because these guys, they just look
- 21:45tired. You know, we're blaming Katz defense.
- 21:48Okay. Well, Katz playing 30 something minutes
- 21:50a game. Like how many do you play in Minnesota?
- 21:52You know, they, they, they know how to utilize
- 21:54a bench. Naz read one six man at the year last
- 21:57year while Kat was there. It's just, you know,
- 22:01Tips, you gotta be a little bit deeper. You can't
- 22:03ask Brunson to bring the ball up every single
- 22:05play. You know, they started using Landry Shammet
- 22:08a little bit. He was good too. He did a couple
- 22:13things that were absolutely boneheaded, but you
- 22:15know, made some big plays as well. You start
- 22:19giving that guy too many minutes and it'll come
- 22:21out on why he's not getting that many minutes.
- 22:25That's a really good way to put it. But look,
- 22:28I mean, he's not good enough. Like, Nas Reed,
- 22:31yeah, that's a good six man. You know, who do
- 22:33the Pacers have? You know, Neymar, Naismith,
- 22:37McConnell. Like, these guys were productive.
- 22:40Matherin had multiple 20 -point games. Matherin,
- 22:43although he got sat on his ass a bunch. I don't
- 22:45like the way he plays defense. Who did he get
- 22:48into it with? It was, I don't think, I think
- 22:50it was the last series. I think it was, no, he
- 22:52got into a Brunson quite a bit. Maybe, he got
- 22:55ejected from a game. Nimhart got into it with
- 22:58Brunson too. I mean, it makes sense. It's basketball,
- 23:02it's physical. They're driving right through
- 23:03each other's faces. There were a couple of drives
- 23:06by Cat in this final game, it was game six, where
- 23:11he literally just put his head down, drove through
- 23:14whoever the defender was, threw up a layup. That's
- 23:18desperation basketball. And I don't think the
- 23:21refs were necessarily getting that right, but
- 23:23that's besides the point. No, yeah, Cat was channeling
- 23:26his inner Charles Oakley trying to be those 90s
- 23:29Knicks. And unfortunately, those 90s Knicks never
- 23:31got it done. So I don't know if you want to be
- 23:32them, but. I mean, they I don't know if you blame
- 23:36Tibbs. I think Brunson deserves a lot of the
- 23:39blame for this series. Why flopping around like
- 23:43a maniac? He was getting abused on defense and
- 23:46a lot of these runs the Knicks went on, he was
- 23:49not on the floor. I'm not saying he is to blame,
- 23:51but I think he could have definitely played better.
- 23:54Well, yeah, sure. But let's look back at the
- 23:57two series beforehand where he's putting the
- 24:00Knicks on his back from a scoring perspective
- 24:02in every single game for the past 20 -something
- 24:05games. And let's not act like it's just his playoffs.
- 24:08It was all season long. He is putting the team
- 24:10on his back from a scoring standpoint. Obviously,
- 24:13there were times where Kat stepped up and had
- 24:15big games. It's always nice when OGN and Ovi
- 24:18or Josh Hart can contribute 20. I blame Tim's
- 24:23because you're asking too much of JB. He can't
- 24:26do it all. He can't. At a certain point, the
- 24:29stamina, the fatigue, it sets in. Yeah, I don't
- 24:34know if you guys saw the press conference of
- 24:36Thibodeau. I don't know. Maybe it was after they
- 24:38won the game to force a game six or when it was.
- 24:42But just flat out, the guy doesn't look healthy.
- 24:45I mean, he was shaking like crazy. His skin was
- 24:48like whenever you have like a Well, what's the
- 24:52word I'm looking for like a long term illness?
- 24:56Like in your skin looks like you're like sick
- 24:58like badly sick That's what he was giving off
- 25:01and like I said his hands were like super shaky.
- 25:04So You know, I would say that guy's gotta go
- 25:07check out by doctors before he thinks about playing
- 25:10player coaching another basketball game That's
- 25:13that's what I might take away From from Tibbs
- 25:16and this series. He doesn't look like he's in
- 25:18the best shape and he's standing a lot His heart
- 25:22rates probably go and I'm sure I'm sure it is
- 25:23a little banged up after the playoff run. Yeah
- 25:26Yeah, I really thought about this till right
- 25:30the second but he he gives me Brian Dable vibes
- 25:34for sure. I mean he had he now He had actually
- 25:37that's a good point. I forgot. Yeah, it's on
- 25:39that. It was epic that little station It was
- 25:43also a lot younger, right? Yeah, yeah, but he's
- 25:46just talking about in terms of like potato shaped
- 25:49body type Gotcha tibet has like three Strings
- 25:53of hair that he gels and combs back as well like
- 25:56for no reason like what like what's going on
- 25:59there? I'm not sure but you know you do you bro,
- 26:04but Something about people in basketball not
- 26:06being able to let that hair go Yeah Forever Shane
- 26:15Larkin used to be a neck he plays in Turkey now
- 26:17get Tip it over to Turkey get him a hair transplant.
- 26:20Maybe bring Shane Larkin back over to they could
- 26:22use some I don't know, man No, well, it's it's
- 26:24the Knicks right like they've had this run of
- 26:26success for the first time in forever You know,
- 26:29I don't think they're just gonna give it I was
- 26:31gonna go when when he either health forces him
- 26:35to or he wants to I don't know if let's just
- 26:42say next year this happens again Eastern Conference
- 26:44finals loss They keep them around for another
- 26:48year. It feels like the same thing as a mutual
- 26:51departure. It feels like the same thing as those
- 26:5490s Knicks where Pat Riley runs them to the ground
- 26:57and eventually the player just got sick of him
- 26:58because he could never get over the top. I mean,
- 27:00Tom Thibodeau is not Pat Riley, so maybe he has
- 27:03even a shorter leash. Running them into the ground
- 27:08is a pretty... pretty important stance r that
- 27:11and that's what's go the way that tips coaches
- 27:14players, their shelf life players. They're not
- 27:19mix you know, obviously coming t you can rest
- 27:24the whole bun about these games come apr June,
- 27:29you know, and we're t or in this case, three
- 27:35st Everyone's just going to say, look, you ran
- 27:39out of gas down the stretch. What if you just
- 27:42get Jay right? I think we talked about this before.
- 27:45Get Jay right to coach these guys. Oh, to coach.
- 27:48I was going to say, I don't think he's a good
- 27:50six man. He might be better than Dillon, right?
- 27:57No, he has a nice job set up in the front office
- 28:01of the Villanova basketball. front office operations,
- 28:08whatever they got going on over there and then
- 28:09you know, he does his I Guess he's a March Madness
- 28:13analyst. I think he comes on for CBS Sports Store
- 28:15in the year as well Yeah, so he you know, he
- 28:21doesn't need the headache and the stress anymore
- 28:23of coaching especially and the criticism at the
- 28:26NBA level It's it's wishful thinking at best.
- 28:32No, he's a criticizer now. He's not gonna take
- 28:35any criticism No, I agree if he was on He would
- 28:40have stayed he could be fun because he's still
- 28:42like in great shape like he's in his early 50s
- 28:47Sorry, I'm watching this baseball game. Yeah,
- 28:49dude all over didn't start today. No, I'm watching
- 28:52Stetson NC State to see who plays over Did right?
- 28:58Stay at Stetson's up eight five, but NC State
- 29:02just loaded the bases And the reason for that
- 29:05reaction was Stetson left fielder just went up
- 29:08full extension to try and rob a home run and
- 29:12he mistimed it. But he did keep the ball in the
- 29:17park. If that makes like he dropped it, hit off
- 29:19his glove, it landed within the park. So he saved
- 29:22a home run and somehow was only a single. These
- 29:26guys only got one base out of that. Bases are
- 29:28loaded. Shout out Jacob deGrom. Shut up Jake
- 29:32deGrom for the Stetson, but I think when we go
- 29:34into college baseball, that's where we can wrap
- 29:36up the NBA talk. But before we do, got to shed
- 29:40some light on OKC, right? They get it done in
- 29:43what, five games? There wasn't really much of
- 29:45a competitive series at all. And, you know, we
- 29:50talk all about the Pacers beat the Knicks, the
- 29:53Pacers on this run, Rick Carlisle, I think what,
- 29:55six time in the NBA finals, he said to his team
- 29:58after the game. This will be a sixth NBA final.
- 30:01I don't know how low KC loses. They don't. I
- 30:07mean they they handled the Wolves who were a
- 30:11very good team, deep team. I mean pretty pretty
- 30:14similar, but not not the same. How do they? How
- 30:19do they if Pacers beat them? Keep playing spurs
- 30:22offense man. I don't care what kind of defense
- 30:25you're running. If if you're moving the basketball.
- 30:28like the way the 2013 -2014 Spurs did, you could
- 30:32win this. I fully believe that. And I'm not trying
- 30:35to say that the Pacers are that good. They don't
- 30:38have Tim Duncan. But, you know, there's a shot,
- 30:45man. I'm betting on OKC. There's a shot. They
- 30:48gotta do, you know, chippy, grindy, get in your
- 30:53face, play a little dirty, maybe. But they're
- 30:56gonna have to throw OKC off their game. I mean,
- 30:58you know, they can't just go in and try and go
- 31:00shot for shot, man up, man up. They got to get
- 31:03them a little rattled. I don't think the Thunder
- 31:06are going to let the Pacers try to go shot for
- 31:08shot. It's just going to be this suffocating
- 31:11defense. And this guy, Boss Rohan, which probably
- 31:15isn't his real name, but commented on our TikTok.
- 31:17And he said, this might be the scare. There's
- 31:19a scary chance this is the worst Thunder team
- 31:21we see in the next couple of years. And I kind
- 31:24of thought about that. And he's right. And the
- 31:26worst Thunder team is. Favorite to win the NBA
- 31:28finals like seven to one right now. Yeah, one
- 31:32is like minus 480 minus 600 Not even close It's
- 31:42not even close, but we'll see the game has to
- 31:44be played the odds of the odds the game needs
- 31:47to be played I tend to agree with the odds in
- 31:50this case. I'm not saying it'll be a four -oh
- 31:52sweep, but I think If we just saw them do that
- 31:56to the Timberwolves and what was it 4 -1, I think
- 32:00at best the Pacers win two games. Minus 700 and
- 32:05the favored series outcome is at plus 250 done
- 32:09during five. During four is plus 260. Yeah. Look,
- 32:18I'm not I'm not ready. I'm not ready to count
- 32:20I'm not ready to count the Pacers. I think the
- 32:26X factor in this series as is every OKC series
- 32:30It's gonna be the whistle I mean if they're gonna
- 32:33give Shay this They're gonna continue to give
- 32:36him the the flops and the he's gonna get the
- 32:38free throw line 12 16 18 times a game Okay, she's
- 32:42got this in four. Yeah the whistle the two games
- 32:45the Pacers get are from the whistle I just I
- 32:49don't know if they even get to I think we see
- 32:51okay see win by double digits at home to start
- 32:54it off and then game three Halliburton has one
- 32:57of those games where he has 30 15 and seven and
- 33:01they win by like three points on a knee Smith
- 33:03three and Then the Thunder get pissed off and
- 33:06win game four by 40 and then close it out at
- 33:08home Do you think we see what you know the Thunder
- 33:14have been blowing teams out in every series,
- 33:17you know, whether, you know, there's a couple
- 33:18of close games in every series, right? You know,
- 33:20other team might even win one, but OKC has won
- 33:23at least one game by like 30 or 40 points. Do
- 33:26you think that happens again in this finals?
- 33:28Yes. Yeah, they get at least one. Yeah, like
- 33:32this is over in five or six games for OKC. I
- 33:36really, really firmly believe that they're not
- 33:40going to be able to stop SGA. There's going to
- 33:42be no stopping him. Do we want to squad ride
- 33:46Dorter Chamber finals MVP? No. No, because it's
- 33:50not going to happen. What if he drops like 50,
- 33:53not 50. What if he drops 30 in game one and then
- 33:56shuts down Halliburton for the rest of the series?
- 33:58Maybe. They're going to give it to SGA because
- 34:00he's going to average like probably 30 points
- 34:02a game in this series. Tyrese Halliburton finals
- 34:06MVP. So Jack you think the Pacers are going to
- 34:11bring back the quote card? I want to I want to
- 34:15I want to bet on the Pacers just because you
- 34:17guys are value their shot They do have zero shot
- 34:21the thunder are really freaking good. I Don't
- 34:26know if I'll go if SGA doesn't get his whistle
- 34:28They don't put up 80 points in a night like that's
- 34:31the only that's the only thing here's a question
- 34:33for you If it's if it's the Pacers Timberwolves
- 34:36Do you think the Timberwolves are favored to
- 34:38win the series? No. I think they are. I still
- 34:43don't care. I still think that people, just like
- 34:47Tyrese Halburn, people are still thinking that
- 34:49these guys are underrated or not giving these
- 34:52guys enough appreciation. Pacers, Timberwolves,
- 34:55dude, I think the Pacers are a slight favorite.
- 34:58Okay, so it's close and the Thunder just absolutely
- 35:01killed the Timberwolves. It wasn't a close series.
- 35:04Yeah. That's what I'm saying. There's the Western
- 35:08Conference edge where the Western Conference
- 35:10has been brutal and you know, a lot of good competitive
- 35:13basketball is being played over there. A lot
- 35:15of good players. Not in the Thunder Series. I
- 35:20mean, they're still playing. They just played
- 35:22Anthony Edwards and Nas Reed and Julius Randall
- 35:26and everybody over there. They killed them. They
- 35:28beat them in five. That's what I'm saying. They
- 35:31played Jokic. Yeah, no kids probably should have
- 35:35won the MVP because he took them to seven somehow
- 35:38Yeah, for real, but I've already stated my case
- 35:41on why he should want to be But all I'm saying
- 35:44is like there's there's there's definitely a
- 35:46little bit of an edge for the Thunder being in
- 35:48the Western Conference of playing that kind of
- 35:50competition But let's not count out the fact
- 35:52that the Pacers just won the Eastern Conference
- 35:54man. I agree. I'm going to pay I agree. I agree.
- 35:58I love Halliburton I love the way they're playing.
- 36:01I'm a big Rick Harlow guy. I was when you won
- 36:03the title with Dirk and the Mads back in 2011
- 36:07and took down LeBron. So I am all, I love what
- 36:11the Pacers are doing. I don't know if you watched
- 36:13the pod Brian and I did last week. I gave the
- 36:16Pacers and their whole front office their flowers,
- 36:19but I'm not going to allow my, what I've seen
- 36:23with my eyes sway. What what I just you know,
- 36:28maybe you want to believe because I like what
- 36:30they're doing and okay see has been that team
- 36:33that Not unbeatable But unbeatable in a series
- 36:38you have to win Four games against them You're
- 36:44not gonna do it. There's no other team No other
- 36:47team and that's why I'm not giving them a chance
- 36:49one for one. The Patriot Pacers can match up
- 36:53series I just don't know how the Pacers win four
- 36:58games. That's why I'm not giving them a chance.
- 37:01If it's the NCAA tournament, maybe the Pacers
- 37:03win. Yeah, and I understand that. I think that's
- 37:06fair. I think the Thunder have the best home
- 37:10court advantage that I've seen in the NBA in
- 37:12a long time. And it's very impressive. Shout
- 37:15out OKC and their fans. I don't know if we've
- 37:19seen, have they lost the game at home in these
- 37:21playoffs yet? I'd be surprised to hear that they
- 37:23did. That's a good question in Minnesota. Who
- 37:28is their second rounds of nuggets? Oh, well that
- 37:31went to seven. So did the nuggets just win every
- 37:33home game? No, I think they beat We got it when
- 37:38it when it went on the road Maybe one but I you
- 37:41know There was a feeling after they went back
- 37:44to okay see for game seven that the nuggets had
- 37:46no shot Yeah, I felt that because of the crowd
- 37:49and they started out hot too. I don't know if
- 37:51you remember that game seven. It was like the
- 37:54Nuggets were right there. It lasted for all of
- 37:59the first half. Yeah. So like the first quarter,
- 38:03they've lost one game and it was that Aaron Gordon
- 38:07put that not put back, but he caught the three
- 38:10and then at the buzzer. That was the one home
- 38:13game. They lost one game that okay. So he's lost
- 38:15at home. Yeah. So, you know that that can happen
- 38:18once or twice with this Pacers team, man. We
- 38:20saw them do it to the Knicks in the garden. So
- 38:22I'm not going to say that they can't do it in
- 38:24OKC, but I will say again, another another, you
- 38:28know, plus one for OKC is that home court advantage.
- 38:32Also, correct me on this. I know this is a stupid
- 38:35question, but OKC they have home court advantage
- 38:38in the NBA Finals because they had the better
- 38:43regular season record over the Pacers. Yeah,
- 38:46OK, I think the better so dumb, but OK, better
- 38:49seed. No better seed there right there the one
- 38:52seed in the Pacers are three. Yeah I can get
- 38:58understand that's why they did that but man bring
- 39:01back the all star game you want the NBA all star
- 39:06game. I love how baseball did that. Baseball
- 39:17was cool because they used to not do interleague
- 39:20play and the league actually meant something.
- 39:23Basketball, it's not going to make him try and
- 39:25it's just going to make him bitch when the new
- 39:27CBA comes up. Maybe it will. Maybe it will. A
- 39:31team like the Thunder, you got Shkae out there
- 39:34in the All -Star game going hand because he knows
- 39:36he's going to be there. And Edwards, same thing.
- 39:42Maybe slightly, but I don't think so. It's never
- 39:46gonna happen. I like your thinking Anything to
- 39:49make it more entertaining That's all I would
- 39:54say but I think Jack's on the Pacers and Brian
- 39:57and I will stick with the thunder which We were
- 40:01on last year to plus 8 ,000 future ticket and
- 40:04you're too early you're too early man, but uh
- 40:08We'll see what happens man. It should be fun,
- 40:10and we'll dive into I guess more I don't know
- 40:13I know I have some some weird travel plans this
- 40:15week So we'll see my availability for the Wednesday
- 40:17show, but I think you know we're like a week
- 40:19out from the fire flood It starts in five days
- 40:22Thursday night Thursday night at like 830 or
- 40:269 o 'clock. It's not like a game one So we got
- 40:29like four or five days to sit on this All right,
- 40:33let's jump into a little Michael the week action
- 40:35here up in section 400. Back now for the Michael
- 40:44of the week. We will get into the summer breeze
- 40:46section or segment in just a little bit here
- 40:49for to kick that one off. But first we keep the
- 40:53main thing, the main thing. It is the Michael
- 40:55of the week. Mr. Jack will kick it over to you.
- 40:57We haven't heard from you in a while. Let us
- 41:00know what you got. You don't have to look so
- 41:03mad about this every week. No, it's my favorite
- 41:06segment. I love the Michael of the week. It's
- 41:12my opportunity to talk about something random
- 41:17or surprising in sports. Do I have that correctly,
- 41:21Brian? Yep, that is the definition. Well, you
- 41:26know, something that I found surprising in sports
- 41:30this week. I was watching Stetson baseball. I
- 41:33know I'm watching them right now, but I was watching
- 41:35them against Aubrey yesterday and I saw one of
- 41:40their players get a big hit and they said his
- 41:43name was Jaden Hilton. And I was like, oh wow,
- 41:46that name sounds familiar. I used to play baseball
- 41:48with a kid named Brandon Hilton and kind of looked
- 41:52alike. So, you know, went to Google, power of
- 41:55Google, and I found out that it's his younger
- 41:57brother. And yeah, I grew up playing with his
- 42:02older brother, and now this kid is playing four
- 42:05stats in Auburn. Lost Auburn, thankfully, but
- 42:10had a big hit. Chill out here. They might play
- 42:13again tonight. I know. I know. And I'll give
- 42:16him his flowers. They're down two right now.
- 42:18I'll give him his flowers for when he gets up
- 42:20to bat, unless it's a big situation. But he got
- 42:23a hit. We were up like six runs already, Brian.
- 42:25It was fine. I was allowed to cheer for him.
- 42:26It was a single. No RBIs. Relax. But yeah, man,
- 42:30just a small world, small world, played baseball.
- 42:33He grew up in New Jersey like me, and now he's
- 42:36playing in Auburn after I had a nice career at
- 42:40Auburn. No games played, but good intramural
- 42:43career. A couple intramural ejections. Did I
- 42:46get ejected from the intramural team? You did
- 42:48once. Closed line somebody. In baseball? No,
- 42:53in football. Oh, OK. Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever.
- 42:58Very rattled they get very rattled about contact
- 43:02in the intramural collegiate Football it's football.
- 43:06It's a rough sport Yeah, but I really I'm not
- 43:13a big college baseball guy I know you're actually
- 43:15you've been watching more college baseball this
- 43:17year Jack and I have Like baseball man. It's
- 43:20good sport. Yeah, these regionals have been entertaining
- 43:23Stetson Stetson's a good team And I don't know
- 43:26if they'll get past NC State to play Auburn,
- 43:28but they were different. Good players over there.
- 43:32They've been there. Sorry, I was just kidding.
- 43:35It just goes to show, you know how good MLB players
- 43:40are like for an Aaron judge to hit 3400 in the
- 43:44MLB is absolutely insanity. Like there are guys
- 43:48hitting 3400 here in this. Who? well he'll have
- 43:54a career but there are guys who hit three four
- 43:56hundred in college that never have an mlb career
- 43:59i mean there is just levels to this shit and
- 44:01it's it's it's crazy man competitive as heck
- 44:04uh all d1 i mean these guys are playing against
- 44:07auburn dude that's doesn't it's creme de la croix
- 44:10i mean even the kid on auburn's like five foot
- 44:12eleven a hundred pounds soaking wet eric snow
- 44:14shout out to the 76ers but he's not gonna go
- 44:17to the majors but he's hitting like three something
- 44:21He's one of the best players in college baseball
- 44:23right now. And you're right. He doesn't have
- 44:25much of a shot in the MLB career. Who knows,
- 44:28man? He can be the next Saltube. That's crazy,
- 44:31man. You never know. But I was going to say going
- 44:34back to, you know, you guys kind of highlighting
- 44:37the college baseball playoffs here. And it's
- 44:41it has been entertaining. I have I can't say
- 44:43I've been like totally dialed into every single
- 44:46game, but I did see a funny stat. You know, this
- 44:48could be a Michael of a week or Michael week,
- 44:51whatever you want to call it in itself. I think
- 44:54every single team that hosted a regional or super
- 44:58regional, whatever they call them, has faced
- 45:01elimination or in an elimination game. Except.
- 45:05I guess it wasn't all right. Yeah, they showed
- 45:09some graphic that like every team hosted and
- 45:12Oregon already got knocked out. I think they
- 45:13hosted a regional and they got the first is Cal
- 45:16Poly. That game was not. So they're already out.
- 45:21And I think everybody else, I guess besides Auburn.
- 45:24Vandy got eliminated. They would have been eliminated
- 45:27earlier. The Wright State coach pulled the pitcher
- 45:30with a no -hitter through six innings. And then
- 45:32Vandy came back and won. Wait, so Wright State
- 45:34won today? Wright State won today, beat Vandy
- 45:37in that elimination game. And Wright State's
- 45:39going to play Louisville tonight. Bro, that's
- 45:43electric. Yeah. Shout out Wright State. flashbacks
- 45:48from Wright State from college basketball. Yeah.
- 45:52Are they still Horizon League or did they move?
- 45:54The Horizon League, yes, with like Cleveland
- 45:56State. Gritty League. Robert Morris. Robert Morris
- 46:02might be in that. Is Green Bay in that? Yeah.
- 46:06Real Gritty League. UIL like Milwaukee. Yeah,
- 46:11dude. Or UIW Milwaukee. The team that lost, IUPUI,
- 46:18aren't they in there too? Yes. They lost like
- 46:2150 games in one year. Yeah, they had the kid
- 46:25that set the record for points. Dude, I know
- 46:28that league way too well. Yeah, they tried to
- 46:31find a, they tried to find or make an extra postseason
- 46:35tournament for like seven and 29 Detroit Mercy.
- 46:39So this kid could break John Stockton's record
- 46:41for points in a career. They never did though.
- 46:45Either way, college baseball has been pretty
- 46:47fun and it'll probably continue. But Brian, you
- 46:52got a Michael the Week for us? I do and I'm going,
- 46:55I'm sticking in baseball, but I'm going to the
- 46:57majors. I had my white socks slip up earlier
- 47:00this podcast because the Mets just played the
- 47:02Rockies. Bad baseball teams are on my mind. The
- 47:06Rockies lost today. They are now nine and 50
- 47:09on the season. They are the first team with 50
- 47:13losses in their first 60 games since 1884 The
- 47:191884 Kansas City unions also known as the Cowboys
- 47:23started the season 7 and 50 They played in the
- 47:26Union Association of professional baseball, which
- 47:29was still considered a top league in 1884 They
- 47:33finished the season 16 63 and 3 they tied three
- 47:36times and their best player was named a man named
- 47:40Kid Baldwin. He was a 19 year old catcher. He
- 47:45had a 0 .5 wins above replacement. He hit 194
- 47:48with a 210 on base percentage. Only three of
- 47:51their eight regulars finished with a wins above
- 47:54replacement above zero. So my question to you,
- 47:59are the Rockies the worst team of all time? Yes.
- 48:03Well, the other team you just spent five minutes
- 48:05talking about is not real. as far as I'm concerned.
- 48:09Kansas City Unions? No, Kansas City Union are
- 48:12not real, sorry. We're real, they passed 1884.
- 48:16No, we're not bringing up stats from the, when
- 48:18we talk about the 80s, Brian, we're talking about
- 48:20the 1980s. We're not talking about the 1880s.
- 48:22I don't care about what happened in the 1880s.
- 48:24It's not a real time period as far as I'm concerned.
- 48:25Is that the first industrial revolution, 1880s?
- 48:30Brother, I don't know. Yeah, with like the steamboats
- 48:32and shit. Yeah, I think so. So something did
- 48:36happen. Yeah, look. Brian, we talked about this
- 48:41actually on the last pod as well. We spent way
- 48:44too much time on it talking Colorado Rocky baseball.
- 48:49I already offered my time, energy, and efforts
- 48:53to become the GM. I already offered my plan to
- 48:57fix the franchise. I've already discussed all
- 49:00these things. They're doomed. There's nothing.
- 49:04Are they the worst team ever? Like in any sport?
- 49:06Is this the worst team we're ever going to see?
- 49:08Brian, they have, did they win a game? Bro, it's
- 49:12June 1st and they have nine wins. Yeah, but like
- 49:15I was looking back at it, like the Bobcats in
- 49:172011 went 759. The Lions in 08 went 0 -16. Yeah,
- 49:22I was going to say, how are you not going to
- 49:23put the 0 -16 Lions or Browns in there? But like
- 49:26it's 0 -16 in football worse than like 20 and
- 49:29140. in baseball if the Rockies do that. Yes,
- 49:31yes it is worse. If you don't win a single game
- 49:34the entire season. I don't think that is, yeah.
- 49:37But it's over 17 games versus 162 games. It's
- 49:41like not even a comparison. Yeah, but let's think
- 49:44about this. There are, at this point, nine games
- 49:48or nine nights, let's put it that way, where
- 49:50the Rockies can go home and be like... I'm a
- 49:53winner today. Or they can kick their feet up
- 49:55on the couch and feel good about themselves.
- 49:59For 17 weeks, the Browns and the Lions and everybody
- 50:03involved in those organizations hated their lives.
- 50:06There was no resemblance of a win. And I understand.
- 50:09You don't think these guys, they're the worst
- 50:10baseball team of all time and the baseball season
- 50:12is seven months long. They got it for seven months.
- 50:15They got to go home and be like, we just lost
- 50:17again. We're nine and 50. Yeah, but for one night,
- 50:21they haven't won a series all year. They've played
- 50:2419 series and they've lost every single one.
- 50:27They're bad. I'm not denying that. But there
- 50:29was not a single point during those football
- 50:32seasons where they were like, all right, I'm
- 50:33happy. Look, the Rockies, even though they only
- 50:36have nine wins, I can tell you when they go win
- 50:38that 10th game, because they will win a 10th
- 50:41game, they will be happy. You'll see them high
- 50:43fiving each other. And it won't last long. It
- 50:46won't. It won't last long. But you still have
- 50:49a couple minutes of of feeling good or a night
- 50:53of feeling good until the next game. But these
- 50:56football teams had nothing, nothing. But it's
- 51:00over. It's over faster. Sure. But then you have
- 51:03the entire offseason where you're just thinking,
- 51:05huh, I haven't won a single game since 20 since
- 51:08last year. Right. Like, like, yes, the season
- 51:11is shorter, but then you have the entire offseason
- 51:14to think about it. They had Calvin Johnson that
- 51:17year. I'm sure all the players just liked watching
- 51:19Megatron gets touchdowns. They didn't care if
- 51:21they win or lost Okay There is nobody on this
- 51:26Rockies team, even if they win a game did they
- 51:28beat the Mets today Brian? No, they got swept
- 51:30out They did end up losing. Yeah, right cuz I
- 51:33saw that no even like even those nine nights
- 51:36They're not going home saying we're a winner
- 51:38and feeling good about themselves There's just
- 51:41no way so We can we can leave that as that they
- 51:45are absolutely the worst team ever I've ever
- 51:48seen. Before the Sun came up like I was batting
- 52:12like once 20 and the or and the Orioles the the
- 52:17the Rockies signed him immediately For 10 OPS
- 52:22is OPS is barely higher Exactly. I mean if it's
- 52:27a joke and Chop it at the bits to get that guy
- 52:31in the organization get that guy in the room
- 52:34the joke this team is absolute nine wins on June
- 52:381st That's all I need to see man. It's the worst
- 52:40team ever. I Think I agree with you. At least
- 52:44they have a win Two different comparisons and
- 52:48we can agree to disagree there I will jump into
- 52:51mine and I don't know if it necessarily fits
- 52:53a description of The Michael of the week, but
- 52:56I think it brings up an interesting conversation
- 52:58I Think it well, I mean it kind of is because
- 53:03a lot of people will be surprised to hear this
- 53:06guy say this I understand these guys will always
- 53:10bet on themselves. But Justin Fields coming out
- 53:13and saying, I can be great with the New York
- 53:16Jets. Are you buying or selling his stock? Are
- 53:22you buying or selling? I mean, we saw a decent
- 53:24sample size last year and Justin Fields looked
- 53:26like he could do some nice things. He was the
- 53:29hottest quarterback in fantasy down the stretch
- 53:30when he won his last year with the Bears. Fresh
- 53:33start, new team, experienced to an extent. I
- 53:39know it's the Jets, but. Look, I like Aaron Glenn.
- 53:43Like, I have a feeling that he can come in. You
- 53:46don't like Aaron Glenn. What do you like about
- 53:51Aaron Glenn? I like him more. I like him more
- 53:55than what the Jets have had. Can I say that?
- 53:58Will you let me have that, Brian? Sure. All right.
- 54:00Look, the Jets haven't had Jack Squat in a long
- 54:03time. Aaron Glenn, he's coming in. Maybe he's
- 54:07not the answer. I mean, we still are talking
- 54:09about the Jets organization here, but it's got
- 54:12to be a step in the right direction I'm not gonna
- 54:16you know Fields had to deal with Russell Wilson
- 54:19hanging over him all last season this year You
- 54:23know, he as of right now is the guy and there's
- 54:25there's nobody else. So he's the guy maybe you
- 54:28know, he's got Swagger Brian stop that didn't
- 54:33make Jordan Travis Yeah, yeah, it was definitely
- 54:37Justin Fields. It was the reason Jordan Trax.
- 54:41He's saying he can be great. Jordan Trax just
- 54:44wanted no. I guess I guess look, I'm not I'm
- 54:51not buying this. I'm not. Selling this either
- 54:54i think there he's gonna be average just like
- 54:56he has been he'll be able to win a couple games
- 54:59with his dual threat ability but he's not winning
- 55:01you he's not getting into the playoffs like what
- 55:03would we think greatest they're not winning the
- 55:05division they're not Do they go 500 i doubt it
- 55:09i highly doubt they go Did he say great with
- 55:15the new york judge or great for the new york
- 55:17judge I just think he said, I can be great and
- 55:20you can interpret it. However, well, I was going
- 55:24to say if he added with the New York Jets, I
- 55:26mean, that's great with the New York Jets is
- 55:27like seven wins. So I think I think it was more
- 55:31of a personal comment and not a team comment.
- 55:36I think I think he can be good enough to put
- 55:39his hat in the ring to be the starting flag football
- 55:42quarterback for the U .S. in twenty twenty eight
- 55:45for what that's worth. For what it's worth I
- 55:47agree with you but like He's lucky. He's not
- 55:51like my top 15 or anything like that. Like he's
- 55:55No, I agree. I think he'll be fine. I think he'll
- 55:59be fun and I think in a perfect world if They
- 56:05go. I don't know if they can sneak into the playoffs
- 56:09at eight and nine So we'll say nine and eight
- 56:11they sneak into the playoffs and pull off an
- 56:15upset win in the first round or wild card round,
- 56:18that's a great season for the Jets. And if they're
- 56:21doing that, that means it's a great season for
- 56:24Justin Fields. I fully agree with you there.
- 56:28If they can go nine and eight, win a playoff
- 56:32game, that would be, I think Jets fans would
- 56:35be streaking like the Knicks fans do. Absolutely.
- 56:39But I don't expect that. I don't expect them
- 56:41to go five hundred eight. Yeah, I would be a
- 56:46huge, huge win for them. We're looking at like
- 56:49five to six wins. They're going to be three wins
- 56:53again. Yeah. You guys think that he could be
- 56:55exciting with them. I'm really not looking forward
- 56:58to that. The Jets historically had been a defense
- 57:01first organization, not one to put up points,
- 57:04low scoring games. Justin, you know, they're
- 57:07bringing in Aaron, Aaron Glenn, who's going to
- 57:09be coaching that sort of mindset. You think Justin
- 57:12Fields, man, I, you know, these jets are going
- 57:15to average like 22 points a game, 23 points a
- 57:18game. It's going to be, it's going to be bad.
- 57:20I wouldn't be that bad. I think Justin Fields
- 57:22will be running around in the backfield and throwing
- 57:24it up to his old college buddy, Garrett Wilson,
- 57:26or running for 10 yards. It'll be fun. You have
- 57:30the Garrett Wilson college connection, dude.
- 57:36Resolve still there. Maybe he can be something.
- 57:38I don't know. I think they'll be able to I Think
- 57:41when you see it on red zone, which by the way
- 57:44Scott Hanson's coming back to red zone next year
- 57:46When you see the Jets game on red zone and Justin
- 57:49Fields is piloting that offense I think it'll
- 57:52be worth watching and not getting mad that they're
- 57:55putting the Jets game on red zone More of the
- 57:58same thing we've seen from him big big time,
- 58:01you know Boomer Buss sort of plays deep balls
- 58:04to Garrow Wilson. Sure, Breece Hall breaks one
- 58:07Justin Fields breaks one, but don't think that
- 58:10this offense is going to be, you know, a driving
- 58:13sort of offense. Justin Fields is not a pocket
- 58:16passer. He's not a he's not. He's not even as
- 58:18good as the throwers like Lamar and Lamar still
- 58:21struggles to put together some of those drives
- 58:23sometimes. So I'm not there. I'm not there. You
- 58:26guys are. I'm not. You're showing the stock and
- 58:28that's fine. I'm so yeah, you know what? Put
- 58:30me down for his cell. You know, I'm passionate
- 58:32out passionate on Justin Fields. He's going to
- 58:35where quarterbacks die in New York. I think you're
- 58:39going to say the UFO, but I agree they don't.
- 58:42They don't usually farewell. In New York either,
- 58:45but we'll see what happens man. I thought he
- 58:48was fun down the stretch for the Bears and I
- 58:50thought he did some nice things for the Steelers.
- 58:52It's like the three number three quarterback
- 58:54in fantasy with the Bears. The one year I know.
- 58:59Are we asking like fantasy wise or we ask the
- 59:03real NFL fantasy wise it can translate to Team
- 59:09success in the wing column if if anything fantasy
- 59:13managers will think he's great. That's got to
- 59:15count for something Yeah, I mean I would be a
- 59:18lot more excited to have him on my fantasy team
- 59:21than I would my actual team That's just the nature
- 59:25of the quarterback position of fantasy football
- 59:27with the rushing abilities for quarterbacks.
- 59:29But that's a whole other conversation, man. I
- 59:31don't want him on my real team. Maybe he could
- 59:33be my backup quarterback on my fantasy roster.
- 59:37I'm sorry. I mean, you brought it up, man. Now
- 59:42I have to. You brought it up. No. Well, Jack
- 59:45brought up rather, who would you rather have
- 59:47on the team, dude? So who has oh we're not doing
- 59:50Trevor Lawrence versus Justin I thought about
- 59:53it too I thought about it too when he said Justin
- 59:55feels you guys top 15 and I was like Well, it's
- 59:58Trevor Lawrence in your top team, but I decided
- 59:59to hold my tongue We're not gonna do this. I
- 1:00:03have Nobody nobody can look me in the straight
- 1:00:08it will in the eyes with a straight face and
- 1:00:10tell me that they truly believe that they would
- 1:00:13rather have Justin Fields on their team than
- 1:00:15Trevor Lawrence. They were the same draft class,
- 1:00:17right? Same thing with Daniel Jones, man. Same
- 1:00:19thing with Daniel Jones. Everybody that wants
- 1:00:21to bring up that graphic, just stop. You're playing
- 1:00:25yourself. We don't need to do this again. That
- 1:00:28was a lot of draft class, dude. Is that Mac Jones,
- 1:00:32too? Yeah. Yeah. Mac Jones won 15. That was a
- 1:00:35fun one, man. I had a quarterback class. Was
- 1:00:39Justin Fields in that? I think he was. Mac Jones
- 1:00:43might have not been in there. but I think. Justin
- 1:00:46fields definitely work I think all three of them
- 1:00:48were yeah yeah you're right. You're right it'll
- 1:00:51be interesting to see what. What the Jets can
- 1:00:55turn up out of Joseph yes I think it'll be fun
- 1:00:57great defined great but let's jump on over to
- 1:01:01the newest segment of the pod the summer breeze
- 1:01:06what's going on here guys. It is breezy up here
- 1:01:10in section four hundred. I usually kick it on
- 1:01:16over to you got Jack getting off the tropical
- 1:01:18island just in time for some summer breeze up
- 1:01:21in 400 I Will kick off the segment I guess and
- 1:01:26then we'll let everybody guys Guys go I'm assuming
- 1:01:31Brian were you going French open with this where
- 1:01:34were you at? I was I was going back to college
- 1:01:36baseball But I assumed somebody would go to French
- 1:01:39open. I was just gonna go to the French to highlight
- 1:01:44the United States men's success. We kind of shat
- 1:01:47all over them when Steve came on last week. Rightfully
- 1:01:52so. They've been very poor at this specific major
- 1:01:56on clay in France, but we will see Francis Tieffo
- 1:02:01and Tommy Paul playing in the quarterfinals.
- 1:02:04I think this is the first time in a very long
- 1:02:07time that two American men have made the French
- 1:02:11Open quarterfinals. So we have some Americans
- 1:02:16to root for. I know the woman from the US usually
- 1:02:19have some better luck and do well in this tournament.
- 1:02:24But yeah, man, Tiaffo and Tommy Paul and Shelton,
- 1:02:27Ben Shelton played Alcaraz today. If he won that,
- 1:02:30we would have three men in the quarterfinals.
- 1:02:31That match was so sad. He played so well. and
- 1:02:35he just well yeah he needed to get that first
- 1:02:38set he didn't get it then lost a second then
- 1:02:41won the third it's just i mean alcaraz is the
- 1:02:44king of clay right now so it's tough tough to
- 1:02:47knock him off his game but yeah it should be
- 1:02:49an interesting uh interesting wrap up we got
- 1:02:52this week and then this upcoming weekend is when
- 1:02:54uh we crown a champion for the record my two
- 1:02:57futures that i gave out andriva and jack draper
- 1:03:01are both still trucking along How's uh, how's
- 1:03:05my boy Yannick sinner doing? Believe he's still
- 1:03:09trucking along as well. I gotta say it like you're
- 1:03:11sneezing sinner Yannick Yannick But no, I was
- 1:03:18sad to see I was sad to see Shelton go down I
- 1:03:21think I half -heartedly gave him out as my pick
- 1:03:24in our in our picks with Steve, but he is my
- 1:03:26favorite American player Tell me Paul. I think
- 1:03:31he gets Alcraz next So I don't know if I have
- 1:03:33much hope for him. Do we know who Tiafoe gets
- 1:03:36in the quarterfinal? I can do a quick look for
- 1:03:41you right now, but I believe so Tiafoe won. I
- 1:03:47think. It's going to be could be Djokovic, because
- 1:03:53they have to play their fourth round. All we
- 1:03:56know is Tommy Paul and Alcaraz. So I want to
- 1:03:59say he plays the winner of cam nori and jokovic
- 1:04:03So probably joke of it. So it's two really tough
- 1:04:06tough matches for the Americans. Yeah, I it also
- 1:04:09could be sinner I don't know how they have this
- 1:04:11going could be draper It could be the likes of
- 1:04:14zebra of draper sinner or jokovic would be like
- 1:04:18the tough seeds in each respective fourth round
- 1:04:21matchup tomorrow Yes, so I think our hopes are
- 1:04:26Landing and Coco golf's basket. Maybe Madison
- 1:04:29Keys that she's still she's still hanging around.
- 1:04:31She might still be hanging around I'm not the
- 1:04:33biggest Coco golf fan now, but well, I did take
- 1:04:38some time to watch her match yesterday against
- 1:04:41Marie Buscova I'm gonna call her bazooka for
- 1:04:48the rest of the show. But yeah, Coco beat Marie
- 1:04:50bazooka for the first time she was owing to before
- 1:04:54and Came in on the clay and did it did her thing.
- 1:04:59I was excited for Coco I guess we're not all
- 1:05:02fans, but I was I was impressed with her skills
- 1:05:05out there for sure. I like Coco I Mean whatever.
- 1:05:09I think she tries to like she hates when her
- 1:05:12sleep schedule gets messed up Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:05:15She is still very young but she tried like it's
- 1:05:17like be your own person She's like trying to
- 1:05:19like follow in like the Serena Williams footsteps
- 1:05:22too much. I think and she just needs like Be
- 1:05:26be your own player like you don't need to Be
- 1:05:31you you don't need to like follow in her footsteps.
- 1:05:33You guys aren't even related Americans among
- 1:05:40other things Women yes Yep, that's where Brian
- 1:05:46was going with that one. All right, anything
- 1:05:48else on the French open before we kick it on
- 1:05:50over to Brian or Jack No, yeah When does this
- 1:05:56wrap up? Is this next weekend is the final this
- 1:05:59upcoming weekend? So I guess it is the yeah,
- 1:06:02so Friday or Saturday No Friday or Saturday will
- 1:06:07be the woman's championship Sunday will be the
- 1:06:09men's championship So they're in France. So I
- 1:06:14guess You know Saturday morning Sunday morning
- 1:06:18is about when they the worst ones the Australian
- 1:06:20open Because they the last matches they're doing
- 1:06:25are like to maybe noon Maybe yeah They might
- 1:06:30not go all they've been going super late because
- 1:06:32they got to get all the games in yeah So it might
- 1:06:35be a little before too, but I could see it maybe
- 1:06:38being a little later I don't know but yeah Saturday
- 1:06:40for the woman Sunday for the men Brian hit us
- 1:06:44with one here and then Jack wrap us up. Yeah
- 1:06:47back to college baseball for me We're going deep
- 1:06:49into college baseball. Let's use Shreveport recently
- 1:06:53won the NAIA title for college baseball. They
- 1:06:57were the first ever collegiate baseball program
- 1:06:59to go undefeated. They went 59 and 0 this year.
- 1:07:03They had eight wins by 15 plus runs, a 361 team
- 1:07:06batting average, a team OPS of 1 .094, 2 .38
- 1:07:11ERA, and they had two seniors, Josh Gibson, who
- 1:07:15hit 439, and Ryan Davenport, who hit 425. Wow.
- 1:07:22Fuck 59 and oh, is that D1? Junior college. Yeah,
- 1:07:28you go Juco. So the weight it holds is not It's
- 1:07:34like this is like when Matt starts talking about
- 1:07:37FCS football, right right worse worse worse FCS
- 1:07:44Johnson and Chad Baker Mazzara came from NAIA
- 1:07:48like FCS or Nice chance you different sport.
- 1:07:54We got John Franklin. You didn't do much over
- 1:07:57input. We have NFL players that came out of the
- 1:08:00FCS. So like that's just. Yeah, there was one
- 1:08:04drafted. This year. Can't remember his name,
- 1:08:09but the Montana State quarterback, I believe
- 1:08:11there's been some greats out of the FCS, so.
- 1:08:15And that's still the one you're talking about
- 1:08:16fucking Juco here. All right, well, here's the
- 1:08:21question. It's not even a comparison. The highest
- 1:08:24winning percentage ever in D1, or the best record,
- 1:08:28I guess. The highest winning percentage was 91
- 1:08:29.4. The team went 64 and 6. Any guesses? I'll
- 1:08:34give you a hint. It was west coast adjacent.
- 1:08:39This is a baseball team? Yeah. From what year?
- 1:08:451972. Oof. Pepperdine. Lou Dort. There's your
- 1:08:52hit. Arizona State. There you go. Nice. Glad
- 1:09:00I won that. Yeah, they were. I guess West Coast
- 1:09:05adjacent one makes sense for Pepperdine. You
- 1:09:08got to start thinking about Arizona and those
- 1:09:10kind of states. All right. But yeah, shout out
- 1:09:14LSU Shreveport. Shout out to Street Sport, man.
- 1:09:18We'll see what they got out of there. All right,
- 1:09:22Mr. Jack, wrap us up here, man. Yeah. I'm so
- 1:09:29glad you guys were talking about summer breeze.
- 1:09:33Should we explain what this is? I don't think
- 1:09:35we ever explained summer breeze. That might be
- 1:09:38a fantastic idea. Well, you know, last year we
- 1:09:42kind of ran out of stuff to talk about during
- 1:09:43the summer. We did add the 4400, but I figured
- 1:09:46we'd add the Summer Breeze. It's called Summer
- 1:09:50Breeze because I wasn't creative enough today
- 1:09:51and the song Summer Breeze was stuck in my head.
- 1:09:54But it's basically stuff we wouldn't talk about
- 1:09:56normally. Fine tune on that. We might brainstorm
- 1:09:59some ideas. Oh, you're shooting the shit in the
- 1:10:01Summer Breeze. It's stuff we wouldn't talk about
- 1:10:04normally that we're going to bring up in this
- 1:10:06segment, like tennis, maybe some golf, maybe
- 1:10:08some NASCAR. Don't think we'll get to Indy 500
- 1:10:11talk, but maybe some IndyCar F1 talk later on.
- 1:10:14Yeah, I mean, you know college baseball French
- 1:10:18open two things I'm not normally talking about
- 1:10:21on the pod already said my points there I did
- 1:10:25play 18 or 18 holes of golf yesterday for what
- 1:10:28that's worth, but Fine we're getting better you're
- 1:10:33gonna find me it means we're getting better 100
- 1:10:36Maybe I don't know probably not the the Shout
- 1:11:11out Ernie and Shaq and Chuck and everybody out
- 1:11:15in TNT who's been able to make that such a successful
- 1:11:19show for so long. And Ernie did say that it's
- 1:11:22not going to be the last for them. They're going
- 1:11:24to be back on ABC or ESPN or wherever. But shout
- 1:11:29out TNT for giving us some great years, man.
- 1:11:34Some phenomenal years. Yeah, they'll hold through
- 1:11:37that are coming back though like cuz I know they
- 1:11:39have like the girl was it Allie the force or
- 1:11:41one of the girls is a sideline reporter and then
- 1:11:46No, no, they like keeping everybody together
- 1:11:50and then like guys on the sideline or is it just
- 1:11:53strictly the inside? Kenny the jet Shaq Chuck
- 1:11:57Yeah, that whole team. No, it's just the just
- 1:12:03the talking heads. I think even like the producers
- 1:12:05behind the scenes are all losing their jobs.
- 1:12:08No, I do. I do think Ernie said something about
- 1:12:11like the production team is going to stay with
- 1:12:13them. Oh, maybe, maybe at least some of them.
- 1:12:16So this is going to be a big time for a lot of
- 1:12:19people's lot of moving pieces. And, you know,
- 1:12:22I just hope everybody finds a good spot for them.
- 1:12:25Well, I don't know if you noticed TNT picked
- 1:12:28up the French Open. Are they going to be doing?
- 1:12:32All the tennis majors I think it's just the French
- 1:12:36Open but they're expanding the TNT sports brand
- 1:12:39lately because they're starting to do college
- 1:12:40football now And I think they want to get MLB
- 1:12:43or they have MLB with TBS. They have MLB with
- 1:12:46TBS. TNT, TBS are the same, right? Yeah, TNT,
- 1:12:49TBS, True TV and now HBO Max Yeah, HBO Max. Wait,
- 1:12:56CBS is part of it too? So CBS acquired Turner
- 1:13:00Okay, okay, so they have all the I see what you
- 1:13:03yeah It's like March Madness. That's how they
- 1:13:06do all the that's how they'd get everything so
- 1:13:09Turner CBS and Turner just run March Madness.
- 1:13:14Yep is what is how that works and they're probably
- 1:13:16the best they do Yeah, there's no reason we don't
- 1:13:21need ESPN get no ESPN has a Super Bowl in a couple
- 1:13:25years. That's gonna be disaster a buck I guess
- 1:13:27buck and Aikman won't be bad but Like the visual
- 1:13:36experience the viewer visual experience for that
- 1:13:40I think will be horrendous and we're gonna get
- 1:13:42some spider -bomb and Patrick Super Bowl halftime.
- 1:13:45I mean dude like even for what they did Like
- 1:13:50the French open for for what CBS TNT all them
- 1:13:54whatever have I think is great. Yeah Yeah, they
- 1:13:58have like the John McEnroe red zone type thing.
- 1:14:02And just everything looks good. I mean, ESPN
- 1:14:05just like stick to doing like sports center.
- 1:14:10The best thing about ESPN nowadays is just how
- 1:14:13they have the ESPN plus random games you could
- 1:14:16watch. Yeah, random games. And if you want to
- 1:14:19watch early round coverage of golf tournaments,
- 1:14:21you can like... Yeah, the featured groups and
- 1:14:23stuff. Watch or just the main group at 7 a .m.
- 1:14:26Like usually you have to wait until the afternoon
- 1:14:28to get to get TV covered So, you know watching
- 1:14:32being able to watch that especially if you like
- 1:14:34bet on it and you want to watch your guy Like
- 1:14:377 a .m. He won this week Scotty just won Yeah,
- 1:14:41I saw he was down. He came back. Yeah, he pulled
- 1:14:43it out man. The guy's been on a tear of a run,
- 1:14:46but What are you gonna do man? He's uh, he is
- 1:14:50the best. He's on a heater. When's their next?
- 1:14:53The US Open is early June, okay. So it's coming
- 1:14:58up. Yeah, yeah, US Open's coming right up, dude.
- 1:15:02See if we can get a golf guy on for that. Is
- 1:15:05that next weekend or two weekends? Two weekends.
- 1:15:09They got the Canadian Open next weekend. Yeah,
- 1:15:11it's the 13th to the 16th is the US Open. Canadian
- 1:15:16Open, but I think that's where we wrap this one
- 1:15:18up, fellas, no? Yeah. Just like that, we shut
- 1:15:22it down. Some Auburn Auburn baseball hopefully
- 1:15:26enjoy Hopefully enjoy I'll try and tune in if
- 1:15:30I can But other than that we'll try and fine
- 1:15:33-tune the summer breeze a little bit better and
- 1:15:36come up with better Brian dropped it on us this
- 1:15:38morning so we had to react as quick as possible,
- 1:15:42but Yeah, I'm that Jack and Brian as always fusion
- 1:15:46section 400 Happy summer If you hated Summer
- 1:15:52Breeze, let us know in the comments. We'll bring
- 1:15:54back views for 400. Shut the fuck up. I don't
- 1:15:58think 4 and 400 is going anywhere. Better not
- 1:16:03be.
