- 0:00Speaker 1: H Return to Glory. Podcast counters are Nikiostin said, Dakota
- 0:23Speaker 1: free tag, I can't say your name, Wisconsin week. It's
- 0:29Speaker 1: end of November, still searching for our sixth to win.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Dylan Ryola has guaranteed that Nebraska will make a bull
- 0:39Speaker 1: game this year, guaranteed. But dak before we get into that, here,
- 0:44Speaker 1: we have some breaking news.
- 0:45Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no, okay, I've got some breaking
- 0:48Speaker 2: news here. Malchai Coleman is retro in the rest of
- 0:51Speaker 2: the year playing transfer.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Did you see the account that I got posted from?
- 1:00Speaker 3: Mm hmm, yeah, but I thought you were going to
- 1:04Speaker 3: bring that up because it got me about two hours
- 1:06Speaker 3: ago and I sent it and then I opened the
- 1:08Speaker 3: account and read the comments and it's account that doesn't
- 1:12Speaker 3: have very many followers and not a true source.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Now maybe.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I say, I thought you're gonna announce Natalie Potts out
- 1:22Speaker 4: for the.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Nope, okay, no surprise that gets fooled by a fake
- 1:28Speaker 1: Twitter account, not a it's not a fake Twitter account,
- 1:31Speaker 1: just not a not a valid I will say it
- 1:35Speaker 1: got me too when I saw it. It also maybe.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Could it could be true? It could be true, But.
- 1:43Speaker 1: More more to come on Malachi Coleman. But yeah, Austin's
- 1:46Speaker 1: breaking news that wasn't about Malachi Coleman was Natalie Potts
- 1:52Speaker 1: on the women's basketball team tour racel against who do
- 1:55Speaker 1: we play like North Alabama or something on contact, which
- 1:59Speaker 1: ended up being an a c L. Well, that's a big
- 2:01Speaker 1: blow for the ranked.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Big Ten Freshman of the Year last year was ten
- 2:06Speaker 5: freshman team maybe a Big Freshman the Year.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But yeah, we uh like Creighton both men and women
- 2:13Speaker 1: on Friday. So we'll hit that here on today's episode
- 2:19Speaker 1: at the end as well. But there's still a lot
- 2:21Speaker 1: to talk about here in November. That is actual, real news.
- 2:27Speaker 1: That good effort.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Now now it comes out tomorrow's real.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Great men, then we'll give you a credit.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah mhm.
- 2:38Speaker 1: First off, I started with the Dylan Ryola comet. What
- 2:42Speaker 1: do you guys make of that?
- 2:45Speaker 5: Like, I know the comment you're talking about, and yes,
- 2:49Speaker 5: he guaranteed it, but it's also like it's also the
- 2:53Speaker 5: same thing as listening to it player like Yep, we're
- 2:54Speaker 5: gonna go out there, We're gonna win that next game,
- 2:56Speaker 5: and you know.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Like what do you like? What do you want them?
- 3:00Speaker 5: The saving cameras is like, yeah, I hope we can
- 3:01Speaker 5: win one of these next two games and make it
- 3:03Speaker 5: to a bowl.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I like it. I like I like it all. I
- 3:07Speaker 1: like the confidence that it sends to everybody. And if
- 3:12Speaker 1: we don't, everyone's gonna be pissed anyways, and it's all
- 3:15Speaker 1: gonna blow up and it's gonna be a disaster anyway.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So it's not like this common as any effect. I
- 3:19Speaker 1: like the confidence so that it sends to the team.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't care what the fans think about it and
- 3:24Speaker 1: what they think. He is saying, we're gonna get this done.
- 3:28Speaker 1: The seniors have said that before, the older players. It's
- 3:36Speaker 1: a group effort, though, and we can do it. We're
- 3:40Speaker 1: favored two and a half points. The line's actually moved
- 3:43Speaker 1: in our favor. Wisconsin's in a whole lot of turmoil themselves.
- 3:48Speaker 1: We can do it. We just have to find a
- 3:51Speaker 1: way to win. That's kind of the message, Dak. What
- 3:55Speaker 1: do you think guarantee a bowl game or what?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Ho's actually saying a thing exactly honest said you can't.
- 4:02Speaker 2: What do you expect them to say, like, I.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Mean, not not say anything else. I mean I'm saying
- 4:06Speaker 1: he said the line. Obviously the other side is not
- 4:09Speaker 1: saying it.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean basically comes down this week because I
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't think you're beating Iola. So yeah, he's basically just
- 4:21Speaker 2: guaranteeing you're gonna win this game. That's I think that's
- 4:24Speaker 2: what he was saying. I think I think your season
- 4:28Speaker 2: comes down to this game. I don't. I think Wisconsin
- 4:33Speaker 2: is your best shot because they're, like you said, they're
- 4:35Speaker 2: in a lot of turmoil right now. They don't they
- 4:38Speaker 2: don't have a do they name an OC.
- 4:43Speaker 1: They did, I believe, I mean it's obviously someone.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So they don't even have an offense that they don't
- 4:50Speaker 2: even know what offense they're running. But it doesn't matter.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Offense sucks. I don't know. I think I don't think
- 4:56Speaker 2: any shock in Isola. Like I said, this is your
- 4:58Speaker 2: best shot, so here you go.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So yeah, we're here in Wisconsin. It's funny college football.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Everybody's in their own set of issues right now, it seems,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and it is just a year that we've had. No
- 5:17Speaker 1: matter if you have eight wins right now or five
- 5:19Speaker 1: or two, everybody's had a different plate. But there seems
- 5:23Speaker 1: just to be a lot of moving parts. And you're
- 5:25Speaker 1: able to have moving parts because of the fast paced
- 5:28Speaker 1: environment that we've talked about a lot. So yeah, Wisconsonant
- 5:31Speaker 1: you mentioned Yerroc. They lost their starting quarterback earlier in
- 5:36Speaker 1: the year. Now they have Braden lock Chess Mulucy, they're
- 5:40Speaker 1: running back. One of the projected top running backs in
- 5:42Speaker 1: the Big Ten, just decided to walk away from football
- 5:45Speaker 1: early on in the year, and now they're left with
- 5:51Speaker 1: we don't know, I guess, and rules comment was, we're
- 5:53Speaker 1: gonna focus a lot on ourselves when it comes to
- 5:57Speaker 1: game planning because it's gonna be tough to know what
- 5:59Speaker 1: they want to do. Here's my prediction or what I envision.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We're gonna see a lot of run heavy, more power
- 6:08Speaker 1: stuff the old Wisconsin because I think the air grade
- 6:13Speaker 1: that they were trying to employ at Wisconsin the long
- 6:17Speaker 1: ago and Luke Fickle coming in, I just don't think
- 6:20Speaker 1: that mesh as well. When you're not winning games. It's
- 6:23Speaker 1: like we've seen it before. Transferring from a very run
- 6:26Speaker 1: heavy option to a West Coast type of offense sounds
- 6:33Speaker 1: pretty familiar.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Well, they also didn't. They didn't factor in or they
- 6:38Speaker 2: didn't change offense when they got their back quarterback in
- 6:40Speaker 2: who is worse than a lot worse than their starter
- 6:43Speaker 2: I mean, you gotta change your offense up when you
- 6:46Speaker 2: because time and Dak. I feel like I could what
- 6:48Speaker 2: I rank him this.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you were high on Tyler Vandyck. I I wasn't
- 6:52Speaker 1: as much as you were, but you loved him.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I wasn't saying he's amazing, but he could he can
- 6:57Speaker 2: throw the ball. This dude they have now sucks. He's off.
- 7:00Speaker 2: They would have been organed, they had a comptant quarterback
- 7:02Speaker 2: at all. So I don't know that's that's what scared
- 7:05Speaker 2: you is last week's game with Wisconsin just they should
- 7:09Speaker 2: have beat them. One team in the nation. But I
- 7:14Speaker 2: don't know. I think I think this offense they're not
- 7:17Speaker 2: they're maxing out at sixteen points. I don't think they
- 7:20Speaker 2: can score Highering that, I hope you're right.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You're just jinks that I just saw.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That was shot back their quarterback is the worst.
- 7:32Speaker 4: And forty two on Rutgers, which we did not.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I saw a fun, fun little tweet that said basically
- 7:39Speaker 1: went through these things that we listed and then they
- 7:40Speaker 1: said and this one's gonna hurt, basically saying that yep,
- 7:46Speaker 1: they have all the reasons to lose and we're gonna
- 7:50Speaker 1: find to lose, didn't there.
- 7:51Speaker 4: DC also leave a couple of weeks ago because he.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was some former NFL guy, wasn't it.
- 8:03Speaker 2: And he left like the next morning he said, yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm done.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I kind of remember what you're talking about.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I feel like that was maybe earlier in the year.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I don't remember. I'll be honest, I have not watched
- 8:17Speaker 1: a lot of Wisconsin. I don't and exactly I watched
- 8:22Speaker 1: that game a little bit on Saturday night, and I
- 8:28Speaker 1: guess it makes you a little more concerned. But I
- 8:32Speaker 1: don't think that Wisconsin, how they played against Oregon, like
- 8:37Speaker 1: is any different than how our game was with Ohio State.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And you can read into it all you want, but
- 8:44Speaker 1: I still just think it comes down to what we've
- 8:46Speaker 1: talked about and what rules mentioned too. Every game in
- 8:49Speaker 1: the Big Ten is going to be a battle. It's
- 8:51Speaker 1: going to be tough. There's gonna be very few blowouts anymore.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Now it's happened. We've been on the wrong side of that.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But there's gonna be There're gonna be games you can win,
- 9:02Speaker 1: and that's true for these last two, but especially this one.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And just because Wisconsin hung with Oregon doesn't change my mind,
- 9:09Speaker 1: anything of them really, And in fact, I think people
- 9:11Speaker 1: were surprised that we were the favorite when the line
- 9:15Speaker 1: came out, but it's actually moved in our direction after
- 9:17Speaker 1: the news of Phil long Ago getting fired. So, uh,
- 9:23Speaker 1: it'll be, it'll be. It'll be a battle, it'll be
- 9:26Speaker 1: a tough game to win, and we're gonna need everything
- 9:29Speaker 1: we can to come out on top.
- 9:35Speaker 5: I mean ESPN's matchup predictor has Wisconsin winning mm hmmm,
- 9:40Speaker 5: which is interesting.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Dak hasn't scored in less than sixteen.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I don't think that. I don't know.
- 9:47Speaker 5: It's it is. It's senior night. We have a lot
- 9:51Speaker 5: of seniors on defense. You expect us to come out
- 9:55Speaker 5: with a little more zip, kind of like we did
- 9:57Speaker 5: against Colorado. And you're right, they do have a new
- 10:01Speaker 5: play caller, so I can see our defense playing with
- 10:09Speaker 5: their hair on fire a little bit more.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Of this game in the past.
- 10:16Speaker 2: The Well, the thing with the spread is I think
- 10:19Speaker 2: it's basically you got because home team, you get three points.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It's basically just even spread. So I don't yeah, it's
- 10:26Speaker 2: basically pick them. Yeah, But like you said last podcast,
- 10:32Speaker 2: I like the crowd for this game is gonna be
- 10:34Speaker 2: rocking the beginning. As soon as with like scores on
- 10:40Speaker 2: the first drive, Yeah, as soon as stuff starts going south,
- 10:43Speaker 2: the crowd's gonna die. Like it's it's that's what I
- 10:48Speaker 2: don't disagree.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I I that's unfortunate that that probably will happen. But
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think that's the state of where a lot of
- 10:56Speaker 1: the fan bases right now. It's it's not really knowing
- 11:01Speaker 1: or I mean, i'll say it starting to lose hope
- 11:04Speaker 1: that this thing can ever get turned around. So that's
- 11:07Speaker 1: a good transitional possim Wisconsin for a second, because I
- 11:10Speaker 1: want to jump into this. Mitt Sherman from The Athletic
- 11:15Speaker 1: wrote an article after the USC game basically, and I
- 11:20Speaker 1: don't know if you guys got a chance to read
- 11:22Speaker 1: it or see it, the gist of it, the summary
- 11:27Speaker 1: cliff notes at the end was that basically, there's nothing
- 11:31Speaker 1: else left for Husker fans to really do besides give up.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It was pretty dark, it was bleak, like he basically
- 11:37Speaker 1: just said it's not gonna happen, Like, just give up faith,
- 11:40Speaker 1: give up hope, quit loving Husker football. That's something we
- 11:47Speaker 1: really haven't heard before, but it may hit home for
- 11:51Speaker 1: some people when you think about what's happened over the
- 11:54Speaker 1: past few years and where things are potentially headed one
- 11:57Speaker 1: way or the other. What the has made me do,
- 12:01Speaker 1: which I think is interesting. Is it kind of like reavent.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Like hearing that I'm like, oh gosh, Like that's tough
- 12:07Speaker 1: made me reevaluate where I've been at as a fan
- 12:12Speaker 1: as far as how much I care or invest time
- 12:17Speaker 1: emotional energy into Husker football. And I kind of went
- 12:23Speaker 1: back through my I guess lifetime as an perst in
- 12:27Speaker 1: my upper twenties and where I sat because it was
- 12:30Speaker 1: kind of fun just to see, like how your emotions
- 12:32Speaker 1: changed over time. So like, if you're listening, it'd be
- 12:34Speaker 1: fun to do it yourself. Here's how I did it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: That Kars is gonna look extremely hilarious. Basically at a
- 12:44Speaker 1: scale one to one hundred, one hundred being the most invested,
- 12:47Speaker 1: the most emotional effort that you ever put into Husker football.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's your hundred at some point in your life, and
- 12:54Speaker 1: at some point you hit a peak, right, maybe maybe
- 12:57Speaker 1: hit a peak multiple times, but at some point you
- 12:59Speaker 1: hit your eddpeak. One being you are just disinterested, almost
- 13:03Speaker 1: to the point that you're apathetic. You don't care about
- 13:06Speaker 1: Huscar football. You're not You're you're not invested in it.
- 13:10Speaker 1: You're putting, you're spending very little time thinking about it,
- 13:12Speaker 1: talking about it, researching it. It has nothing to do
- 13:16Speaker 1: with being disappointed, because if you're disappointed, guess what, you
- 13:20Speaker 1: still care quite a bit. Actually you got care a lot.
- 13:23Speaker 1: If you're disappointed and hurt, your care level is up there.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So it is all about I guess your emotional investment
- 13:31Speaker 1: and care. Call it love with Husker football over your lifetime.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We don't need to, we can just kind of go
- 13:37Speaker 1: through it at summary. But it was fun to think.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I can think everybody can probably say, and if you don't,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I think you're probably lying. Maybe not. When Scott Frost
- 13:46Speaker 1: got hired and leading up to that year, there was
- 13:52Speaker 1: a very It was very high, very very high. Maybe
- 13:56Speaker 1: the highest of my life maybe if you're gonna look
- 14:00Speaker 1: at it on a graph, It took a pretty quick
- 14:02Speaker 1: fall because I would say maybe one of the lowest
- 14:05Speaker 1: cares that I was really invested in. Besides when I
- 14:08Speaker 1: was young and really didn't understand what was going on.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Was Scott Frost years like three and four where for
- 14:16Speaker 1: a week week we were doing the podcast. But I
- 14:18Speaker 1: was like, I don't care what happens, Like I did
- 14:23Speaker 1: the podcast and I didn't really listen to anything else.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's funny this year, how I've found myself a lot
- 14:31Speaker 1: more interested than I thought I would. I don't know
- 14:33Speaker 1: why that is. There's something about it that it's kept
- 14:36Speaker 1: me engaged even though it's going poorly. I'm caring a
- 14:40Speaker 1: lot more this year.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Is the star quarterback?
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yep, it probably is. I think that has a lot
- 14:44Speaker 1: to do with it. And I think the environment of
- 14:46Speaker 1: college football has a lot to do with it too,
- 14:48Speaker 1: because I think it gives you a little bit of
- 14:50Speaker 1: like reassurance that these teams can come in and do
- 14:52Speaker 1: it so quickly, and there's not so much these power
- 14:57Speaker 1: power powerhouses anymore, like Georgia is not. People might have
- 15:01Speaker 1: thought they could have just dominated everybody this year. They didn't,
- 15:04Speaker 1: and so now there's a bunch of teams this year
- 15:05Speaker 1: that can win it. It kind of gives you a thought
- 15:07Speaker 1: of like, Okay, this stuff matters. The decisions were making
- 15:09Speaker 1: now matters for the next year or two. My last
- 15:13Speaker 1: kind of thought on where I was at when I
- 15:15Speaker 1: was young and my you know, teams and leading into
- 15:19Speaker 1: high school. I cared a lot about it, but I
- 15:21Speaker 1: didn't know there wasn't one the resources to invest as
- 15:24Speaker 1: much besides reading the paper. But I cared a lot,
- 15:26Speaker 1: Like I couldn't wait for the Sunday paper to read
- 15:28Speaker 1: the articles of and read the grades that the sports
- 15:32Speaker 1: writers were giving, and read about it that morning. I
- 15:34Speaker 1: would go to bed on a Friday night, or try
- 15:37Speaker 1: to go to bed, but I wouldn't be able to
- 15:39Speaker 1: sleep because that next day I knew there was a game.
- 15:42Speaker 1: When I was in high school, Dak, your face is like,
- 15:45Speaker 1: what is wrong with you?
- 15:47Speaker 2: See?
- 15:47Speaker 1: You don't see, Dak. You don't understand some of the
- 15:50Speaker 1: commitment that Husker fans have. So I remember as a
- 15:55Speaker 1: kid too, they always used to do the player of
- 15:57Speaker 1: the game in the back of the newspaper.
- 15:59Speaker 2: They had.
- 16:02Speaker 1: A full picture of like the player of the game
- 16:04Speaker 1: of the week, and I would cut those out and
- 16:06Speaker 1: hang them on my door as a as an elementary
- 16:09Speaker 1: kid every game and I'd have them lined up like that.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That kind of stuff. I was very invested. That was
- 16:13Speaker 1: also probably one of the higher times that would have
- 16:16Speaker 1: been I guess Callahan and Bopolini probably more Callahan than anything,
- 16:23Speaker 1: which is kind of sad to say, but I think
- 16:26Speaker 1: at that time, nobody thought we were ever going to
- 16:28Speaker 1: not make a bowl game for eight consecutive years. That
- 16:31Speaker 1: wasn't that that we that was never a thought. It
- 16:33Speaker 1: happened one year and we were all like it was.
- 16:38Speaker 1: It was a disaster. It's we're so far away from
- 16:42Speaker 1: that now, and it's kind of funny to think back.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So anyways, I don't know if you have any comments
- 16:46Speaker 1: on that to think about, but it was kind of
- 16:49Speaker 1: fun to think about how your graph and your emotion
- 16:51Speaker 1: has changed.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I mean, honestly.
- 16:55Speaker 2: So.
- 16:55Speaker 5: I I mean, I've watched the games and I cared
- 16:58Speaker 5: and I enjoyed them, but I did not elementary high school.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I did not work my life at all around the
- 17:05Speaker 4: games I watched.
- 17:06Speaker 5: If I was at my grandparents' house on Saturday, i'd
- 17:08Speaker 5: watch it, you know, it might be on, but I
- 17:11Speaker 5: was usually napping during it. It wasn't really until college when
- 17:13Speaker 5: I got super interested. But I I think that's regarding
- 17:19Speaker 5: the article, it's a little bit of a outsiders like
- 17:25Speaker 5: what fan base. That's not why you watch the sport,
- 17:29Speaker 5: And obviously you want to win, but you're not gonna
- 17:33Speaker 5: watch something you don't care about so these basically saying,
- 17:37Speaker 5: don't be fans in Nebraska football because they're not gonna
- 17:39Speaker 5: be good. But that's also not why sports exist, like
- 17:42Speaker 5: you don't.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I think his argument was become apathetic, like basically
- 17:51Speaker 1: stop caring what. I heard this on the Nick Bob podcast.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Like they made a good point in countering it. It's
- 17:56Speaker 1: like care is not something you can necessarily control. It's
- 18:00Speaker 1: an emotion. You can't just say I'm going to stop
- 18:02Speaker 1: caring about X. Like you can't get your body or
- 18:07Speaker 1: your mind to do that unless there's something else that
- 18:09Speaker 1: comes along, Like maybe you're trying to like what do
- 18:12Speaker 1: you what are you in Nebraska? What are you gonna do?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Like are you on Saturday.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I've tried to do I've tried the case State thing
- 18:20Speaker 1: and I still kind of I've tried it, but that
- 18:22Speaker 1: has not subtracted anything away from Nebraska football anything. But
- 18:26Speaker 1: I tried, like saying I want to get into this
- 18:28Speaker 1: team to try to take my mind off of all
- 18:30Speaker 1: this other crap.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I can't do it. Like we live in just you
- 18:35Speaker 5: watching the game. It's the social aspect. You know, your
- 18:38Speaker 5: tailgate and you're talking about it. You're watching that bars
- 18:40Speaker 5: you're going on to our friend's house.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I think that's that's his point, is that so you
- 18:44Speaker 1: don't get depressed and disappointed and and emotionally distraught over it, Like,
- 18:51Speaker 1: don't do that anymore, Like just basically go back to
- 18:55Speaker 1: don't worry about what's going on Saturday if you fall.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And I think some people do that. I think there's
- 18:59Speaker 1: all levels of people, and I think where people are
- 19:01Speaker 1: probably starting to go that way. I mean that that's
- 19:05Speaker 1: the argument, is that you care less now than you
- 19:07Speaker 1: do ten years ago. Like it's hard for us when
- 19:11Speaker 1: we're growing up and developing.
- 19:12Speaker 5: But I think that's a product of just the older
- 19:15Speaker 5: generation getting older. I do think that, you know, when
- 19:18Speaker 5: this younger generation becomes our age, it's probably gonna be
- 19:21Speaker 5: closer to that. But that's more of a product of everything,
- 19:23Speaker 5: you know, like just the the pace of which people
- 19:27Speaker 5: consume content and how you're consuming content. Here's probably not
- 19:31Speaker 5: gonna you're you're not lingering on those feelings as long.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Right at that, I can almost make your graph out
- 19:40Speaker 1: for you, but I want you to try to explain it.
- 19:42Speaker 4: This is his peak. This year's been his peak.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, I was gonna say my hundred care
- 19:46Speaker 2: was the Colorado game this year? Easily, That's that's the
- 19:49Speaker 2: most I've cared about host game ever by a mile.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I would even, I would even argue that you're you
- 19:57Speaker 1: care more about it the last couple of weeks in
- 19:59Speaker 1: the Colorado game. No, I No, I'm not saying excited.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I'm not saying excited. I'm saying caring for the program,
- 20:09Speaker 1: the amount of time you're thinking about it, putting an effort,
- 20:12Speaker 1: doing your what you call it, you call it studying
- 20:14Speaker 1: for the podcast. You do more of that now because
- 20:18Speaker 1: you're more invested in it now than you were the
- 20:20Speaker 1: Colorado game. That's I don't think that's a question. I'm
- 20:24Speaker 1: not saying excited you.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Maybe yeah, I'll agree with you there, but excited wise
- 20:30Speaker 2: most I've ever been excited for Husking with the Cardo
- 20:33Speaker 2: game unless they're playing O Pome. But anyway, So back
- 20:37Speaker 2: when FROSCT hired, I was not really a Husky when
- 20:41Speaker 2: I was younger, I was all in a phone fan
- 20:43Speaker 2: and give a crap on Nebraska, like yep, one bit.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And I know you didn't. And and maybe when like,
- 20:48Speaker 1: was there any coach, maybe it was Frost when they
- 20:50Speaker 1: got hired that kind of peaked you a little bit wary.
- 20:52Speaker 1: That started started looking at the scores a little bit
- 20:54Speaker 1: more over time.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I actually did, I actually hate Nebraska because that's when
- 20:59Speaker 2: when I was younger, because that's embrass in the Big twelve.
- 21:03Speaker 2: So then problem Frost got hired, I got a little invested,
- 21:06Speaker 2: and I I was out like on him pretty quickly.
- 21:10Speaker 2: So I I was invested watching that shit show go down.
- 21:13Speaker 2: It was pretty funny to watch from the side. And
- 21:15Speaker 2: then I joined your podcast and now look at me
- 21:18Speaker 2: full look at me.
- 21:21Speaker 1: So yeah, the hate what I'm describing hates as still caring, right,
- 21:26Speaker 1: Like I will say I care more about Iowa football
- 21:29Speaker 1: since we joined the Big Ten than I cared about
- 21:31Speaker 1: him in the Big Twelve. I didn't care about him. No,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I care about him now. It's not not in a
- 21:35Speaker 1: positive way, but I I care about it. Same thing
- 21:38Speaker 1: with Oklahoma. I care less about them now, but if
- 21:41Speaker 1: I did the graphic of Oklahoma, I probably care about
- 21:43Speaker 1: him a little bit more now, dak just because you
- 21:46Speaker 1: have joined and so now I will like check the
- 21:48Speaker 1: Oklahoma score just for the sense I can give you
- 21:50Speaker 1: a crap when they lose, Like I do care a
- 21:52Speaker 1: little more about Oklahoma than I did five years ago. Yeah,
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's fun to think about your emotions and how it's
- 22:00Speaker 1: gone over time on your sports teams, your favorite teams,
- 22:05Speaker 1: Nebraska football, and it is. It's we've said this analogy before.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It's like you're married to it, but you can't divorce them.
- 22:13Speaker 1: You want to divorce them, You've tried to divorce it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You've you've tried to get away, but they just keep
- 22:18Speaker 1: crawling back and just keep doing something to keep your
- 22:20Speaker 1: crawling back. Yeah, it's abusive. They just keep they keep
- 22:24Speaker 1: slapping your while you're down, and and they do it
- 22:27Speaker 1: over and over, and you can't get out of it
- 22:28Speaker 1: because if you try to get out of it, they'll
- 22:31Speaker 1: whatever will happen. And it's it's not good, but you
- 22:33Speaker 1: can't get out of it. And and that's just the
- 22:36Speaker 1: state we live in. I think the apathy out of
- 22:40Speaker 1: anybody out of us three, Dak has the most experience
- 22:44Speaker 1: with it in regards to Nebraska football because he was
- 22:48Speaker 1: there at some point. I can't say I ever had
- 22:50Speaker 1: apathy towards Husker football and didn't care. That word is
- 22:53Speaker 1: going to be used a lot if things don't get
- 22:57Speaker 1: turned around. Over the next ten years, and you're gonna
- 22:59Speaker 1: see it, and you're gonna see it happen. I'm not
- 23:02Speaker 1: sure if we'll be podcasting in ten years, will probably
- 23:04Speaker 1: a new.
- 23:06Speaker 4: They tried to or maybe the Big ten network.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You know, that word is gonna get thrown around a lot,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and that is that is what Mitt Sherman is referring
- 23:17Speaker 1: to in that article, is that word apathy, And that's
- 23:20Speaker 1: what everybody needs to go to. I just don't think
- 23:23Speaker 1: you can control that. I think it's hard to do.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I think that's just a natural thing that happens and
- 23:30Speaker 1: you don't here's the thing with the apathy, you don't
- 23:32Speaker 1: even know because you don't know what you don't know.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's just God. Like I would say, I'm very apathetic
- 23:37Speaker 1: towards most college football programs, Like I don't care.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I really don't, honestly, like even like the big teams.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Like I was looking at the football playoff rankings and
- 23:50Speaker 5: I was like, oh shit, I didn't.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I honestly forgot Georgia last two games. I had no idea.
- 23:56Speaker 2: It's like, oh, yeah, you guys, don't get excited for Indiana,
- 24:01Speaker 2: say this, any Ohio State this weekend, Like not one bit.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I do like I do, I would say I care
- 24:07Speaker 1: about college football, so like big games get me excited.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But as far as like individual teams go, like there's
- 24:15Speaker 1: certain teams that, like for example, Alabama care a little
- 24:18Speaker 1: more about just because I I'm a big saving guy,
- 24:21Speaker 1: so I have some care towards them, But Ole Miss
- 24:23Speaker 1: I have zero. I could. I could care less whether
- 24:26Speaker 1: they go eleven and two or they go two and nine.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I don't care like so every team. I think you
- 24:31Speaker 1: just have a little bit of different everybody does. It's
- 24:34Speaker 1: your opinion on what you think of the team Indiana,
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm I'm I kind of like like, it's been fun
- 24:38Speaker 1: to follow Signetty's story so which I don't know if
- 24:44Speaker 1: anything else to talk about here, but I just thought
- 24:45Speaker 1: that was fun because it it challenges you a little bit.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Obviously we have a podcast, so we all care about
- 24:51Speaker 1: it more than the average fan. Yeah, for sure, and
- 24:57Speaker 1: a lot of my friends and people that we talked to,
- 24:59Speaker 1: it's it's you can you can see the apathy set
- 25:04Speaker 1: in over time as things don't go well with certain
- 25:07Speaker 1: people that I would say on our scales are like
- 25:10Speaker 1: in the middle to below where we would where we
- 25:13Speaker 1: would have ourselves. They're they're lower. I think you can
- 25:17Speaker 1: you can start to see that a little bit. And
- 25:18Speaker 1: like you said, Austin, it's it's the generation kind of
- 25:21Speaker 1: right below us, and that you're really going to see
- 25:24Speaker 1: a drop off fast because it hasn't been good unless
- 25:29Speaker 1: things change and turn around and there's a new reason
- 25:31Speaker 1: to dive back in. I don't know where my head's
- 25:34Speaker 1: gonna go. I don't know, like you don't. You can't
- 25:36Speaker 1: control it. I have no idea in five years what
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's gonna be like. But I think getting a new
- 25:40Speaker 1: coach always helps. Every time they kind of pique you
- 25:43Speaker 1: get your back going, because once you get towards the
- 25:45Speaker 1: end of a bad coach, that's where you'd be like,
- 25:46Speaker 1: this is a stupid and ultimately guess what. That's what
- 25:49Speaker 1: leads to someone getting fired is the fans, but more
- 25:52Speaker 1: importantly the players and the donors and all of the
- 25:55Speaker 1: people that impact the program directly. They stop caring and
- 25:58Speaker 1: they start stop start losing bad that's what get to
- 26:00Speaker 1: coach fired right there. So we've seen that obviously a
- 26:04Speaker 1: lot here at Nebraska, and not saying rule is there,
- 26:08Speaker 1: but there's there's signs, there's some signs starting already in
- 26:12Speaker 1: year two that that we just need to be making
- 26:15Speaker 1: note of. Okay, next topic. We heard from mister Dana
- 26:23Speaker 1: Holgerson this week a lot there. He uh, I'll say it,
- 26:34Speaker 1: and I saw it to the point, straight to the point,
- 26:37Speaker 1: straight shooter. That's my biggest takeaway, and that is something
- 26:43Speaker 1: that I'm a big fan of. And we have seen
- 26:49Speaker 1: coaches beat around the bush, and the more pressure, the
- 26:53Speaker 1: more turmoil that starts to go on, you start to
- 27:00Speaker 1: just really be cautious and what you're trying to say
- 27:04Speaker 1: and real Steven stopped himself several times. Now you're starting
- 27:07Speaker 1: to see it with him. Dana right now, he doesn't care.
- 27:10Speaker 1: He just it's I'm gonna say what i'm gonna say,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and it's gonna be what it's gonna be. I like that.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I think that's what needs to get set people, just
- 27:19Speaker 1: to really call people out for stuff that's not good,
- 27:23Speaker 1: and Dana does that. That was my initial takeaway overall
- 27:27Speaker 1: about getting into specific comments. I was like, hell, yeah, like,
- 27:32Speaker 1: this guy is gonna come in and not It doesn't
- 27:35Speaker 1: guarantee fixing anything or getting anything great, but he's at
- 27:38Speaker 1: least coming in and identifying the problems and calling out
- 27:41Speaker 1: the problems. The next step is figuring out what the
- 27:43Speaker 1: solutions are and how to figure that out. That's to
- 27:46Speaker 1: be determined.
- 27:51Speaker 5: I agree to an extent, but I will admit there
- 27:56Speaker 5: was part of me when I listened to his interview
- 27:59Speaker 5: that I just I got a little bit of the ick.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Like I was like, it just it. I don't know
- 28:06Speaker 5: if it's a product of he's coming in mid season
- 28:08Speaker 5: and he just.
- 28:11Speaker 4: The way it. I don't want to explain it. He
- 28:16Speaker 4: just felt like an outsider who didn't care that much.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:20Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, this is what I'm doing. I'm here
- 28:22Speaker 4: because but I was bored.
- 28:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:24Speaker 5: It's just like I get used to being a street shooter.
- 28:27Speaker 5: But also there's that part of me that's like, okay,
- 28:31Speaker 5: so like you know, and he's like, yeah, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 5: likew's that TCU.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I was.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I was there, but I just didn't like not haveing control,
- 28:40Speaker 5: so I just did other things on the weekend. It's like, okay,
- 28:43Speaker 5: so you really weren't invested in TCU. I don't know,
- 28:46Speaker 5: I just got this weird like he doesn't care. He's
- 28:49Speaker 5: just here doing a job. He listed off players by
- 28:52Speaker 5: number and I understand it's been there two weeks. We'd like, yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 5: you know, like number four, he's got to get this done.
- 28:56Speaker 5: At number seventeen, he's pretty quick out there, but he's
- 28:59Speaker 5: not really too big of blocks.
- 29:00Speaker 1: And I was like, I don't know, initial thoughts. I liked.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I like a lot of what you said there.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I've always loved Danie Holme Seen's personality, Like he like
- 29:13Speaker 2: I said, straight shooter, he will not he's a wild card.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Hes gonna say there. I liked what he said about
- 29:21Speaker 2: calling out players right there, about not blocking. I mean
- 29:25Speaker 2: he comes in and tells him right away, like, hey,
- 29:28Speaker 2: what you guys are just not gonna block.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Up there or what like you use the word embarrassing.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah, players call the players what they do. I guarantee, Sadly,
- 29:35Speaker 2: wasn't I guarantee say good job.
- 29:37Speaker 1: But but I will say this We've talked about with
- 29:41Speaker 1: Rule a lot. Rule never did that because he's always
- 29:44Speaker 1: very cautious to make sure what the players hear from
- 29:46Speaker 1: his press conferences had a positive impact on his team.
- 29:50Speaker 1: This is a very different approach. We saw the negative
- 29:54Speaker 1: impact of it when Frost started to do it too.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Street shooters often used for asshole. Just throwing that out there.
- 30:02Speaker 1: That's a good way of putting it. I've also thought
- 30:08Speaker 1: that assholes can sometimes make great coaches if you have
- 30:13Speaker 1: the right pieces around you. Now he's obviously the offensive coordinator,
- 30:16Speaker 1: he's not the head coach. Rules in his personality, I
- 30:19Speaker 1: think are they probably butt heads a little bit. I
- 30:26Speaker 1: feel like rules a little bit of a I'm not
- 30:29Speaker 1: saying he's not tough, like not a straight shooter, but
- 30:32Speaker 1: he has more of a.
- 30:34Speaker 4: There's a little good cop bad cop going.
- 30:36Speaker 1: On, calculated approach, I would say very much. Yeah, good
- 30:38Speaker 1: cup backups a good way of putting it. I want
- 30:42Speaker 1: to go through Dana's timeline because you mentioned the TCU thing,
- 30:45Speaker 1: which I think is important. I think this all again,
- 30:48Speaker 1: we're just speculating and trying to predict what's going to
- 30:50Speaker 1: happen with this thing, and because that's what we do. Uh.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Dana was at Houston, had a lot of success there.
- 30:59Speaker 1: West Virginia is where he got fired at and then
- 31:02Speaker 1: if you look and kind of see why he got fired,
- 31:06Speaker 1: it's a lot of the attitude Austin that you were
- 31:08Speaker 1: talking about that I'm here, this is what I'm gonna do.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I I'm gonna put in the work that I think
- 31:17Speaker 1: needs to get put in, which it sounds like he's
- 31:19Speaker 1: putting in sixteen plus hours. It was a comment he
- 31:21Speaker 1: made here. But I'm gonna do what I gonna do,
- 31:23Speaker 1: and I really don't give a ratsass about anybody else.
- 31:27Speaker 1: And ultimately that attitude, when you lose your players and
- 31:30Speaker 1: you think that way and you have very little relation
- 31:33Speaker 1: to it all, that can that can end things very quick.
- 31:37Speaker 1: It can go down south south quick when you're not
- 31:39Speaker 1: winning games. That's what happened. And fans didn't like him,
- 31:43Speaker 1: players didn't like him, the media didn't like him, administration
- 31:47Speaker 1: didn't like him. He just was a He was an asshole, right,
- 31:49Speaker 1: that might work as a coordinator, that that was the word.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Maybe not a head coach, maybe a coordinator. So that happens.
- 31:56Speaker 1: He goes to TCU. He has to get employment because
- 32:00Speaker 1: because of his buyout contract, so he gets employment at TCU,
- 32:03Speaker 1: but basically described the situation as didn't have an impact
- 32:07Speaker 1: on the game to game was consulting, showed up with
- 32:10Speaker 1: a couple of games, didn't like they didn't have he
- 32:11Speaker 1: couldn't have any say, so he just stopped going to
- 32:13Speaker 1: the games. Really didn't care, was really doing it on
- 32:16Speaker 1: his own time, his own terms. And then in December
- 32:19Speaker 1: is I guess that was the start of this year.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Backtrack to December of twenty twenty three is when Rule
- 32:24Speaker 1: and him spoke for the first time. I think this
- 32:28Speaker 1: whole plan, maybe not so much him now, but his
- 32:33Speaker 1: plan of getting involved in Nebraska was always on the horizon.
- 32:36Speaker 1: After last year him getting fired, there was talk, but
- 32:41Speaker 1: he said it wasn't the right fit. It wasn't He
- 32:43Speaker 1: needed some time off, he needed to breathe a little bit. Also,
- 32:47Speaker 1: at the same time, we knew our offense wasn't good
- 32:48Speaker 1: last year. I think that's why we didn't go higher
- 32:51Speaker 1: a new offensive coordinator. I really do. Because Rule was
- 32:53Speaker 1: hoping this would happen sooner than later. He wanted he
- 32:57Speaker 1: wanted Dana to help, but he dow Dana wasn't ready.
- 33:00Speaker 1: He didn't want to force somebody into somebody that wasn't ready,
- 33:02Speaker 1: so he waited. Now we're here, he picks up the phone,
- 33:06Speaker 1: calls in and says, hey, come help. As he said,
- 33:10Speaker 1: he said he was bored. But then he also talked
- 33:14Speaker 1: about the respect he had for the program. Uh and
- 33:19Speaker 1: grew up an Iowa fan, which that's going to be
- 33:21Speaker 1: interesting for next week. He just is very there's pros
- 33:26Speaker 1: and very much pros and cons to that kind of attitude.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I liked it for the situation that we're in. It
- 33:33Speaker 1: easily could fall off a cliff. It easily could and
- 33:38Speaker 1: maybe even predict that's what could happen. Here's the thing
- 33:40Speaker 1: that is what we need to give ourselves a chance
- 33:43Speaker 1: for this year, for the future. I don't think anybody knows.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I think everybody has thought about it. I think Rules
- 33:49Speaker 1: thought about I think danis thought about it. I don't
- 33:52Speaker 1: think anybody has even communicated though the plan because of
- 33:57Speaker 1: the focus that everybody knows that we need to make
- 33:59Speaker 1: a game this year, and I think that's good. I
- 34:02Speaker 1: don't know, though, I there's a million directions this thing
- 34:06Speaker 1: could go after the season gets over, So I'd like
- 34:11Speaker 1: that what he came in and how he said it
- 34:14Speaker 1: is what we need for this week and next week,
- 34:17Speaker 1: and his game plan for how he's working at it
- 34:21Speaker 1: is very good. Day by day he's talking about his
- 34:23Speaker 1: film watching like yet practice. I go home because I
- 34:26Speaker 1: watched a couple hours of film after that, and then
- 34:28Speaker 1: it's right away and wisconstantly blah blah blah, gotta work
- 34:30Speaker 1: on this. Obviously, I'm working sixteen plus hour days. There's
- 34:34Speaker 1: a little bit of me me I I talk in there, which.
- 34:37Speaker 5: I was waiting to hear what you were gonna say,
- 34:39Speaker 5: as I was gonna bring it up.
- 34:41Speaker 1: We've we've flagged that with Mark Whipple before, like we
- 34:44Speaker 1: we did that from the get go. Again, I think
- 34:49Speaker 1: I'm not saying bring back Mark Whipple, but bringing in
- 34:51Speaker 1: somebody like that. Though I don't, I like at this
- 34:54Speaker 1: time of the year, it's still a good decision. Like I,
- 34:57Speaker 1: Whipple and him have a lot of similarities. I think
- 34:59Speaker 1: they do. I would say Dana's success in his resume
- 35:03Speaker 1: is a lot better than Whipples, just because he has
- 35:07Speaker 1: a head coach experience. They're different people, but it's very similar.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I think that's what this team needed. Though right now,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't know about the future. I really don't. I don't.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I have I tried to myself not to think about
- 35:21Speaker 1: where that's gonna go. The biggest pro that gives me
- 35:27Speaker 1: reassurance and all the negatives is that he used we
- 35:31Speaker 1: and our when talking about the team already over and
- 35:35Speaker 1: over and over and over and over. I was waiting
- 35:37Speaker 1: for him to slip up and say the players this
- 35:39Speaker 1: team Nebraska, you guys. I never heard that. That to
- 35:47Speaker 1: me is a sign of like loyalty and that he
- 35:51Speaker 1: wants to be here and he wants to work hard. So,
- 35:54Speaker 1: like Austin to your points of like, oh, he's just
- 35:56Speaker 1: coming here an outsider, he hasn't made himself at least
- 35:59Speaker 1: believe that I'm not an outsider. I'm a part of
- 36:02Speaker 1: this program in such a short time. Otherwise, I think
- 36:05Speaker 1: if there's a part of him didn't believe that, he
- 36:07Speaker 1: would have slipped up because he just says it as
- 36:10Speaker 1: it is. He kept saying we our our team, like
- 36:14Speaker 1: all of those things, which to me was very encouraging
- 36:17Speaker 1: for where we're at now. That's not caring seeing anything
- 36:20Speaker 1: that's gonna look better or fix anything. I'm just saying
- 36:22Speaker 1: it was a positive to me that that was what
- 36:26Speaker 1: I heard.
- 36:28Speaker 5: He also said he made the joke of he asked
- 36:30Speaker 5: for the playbook and he said he got the first hat,
- 36:33Speaker 5: or he got it and he said, well where's the
- 36:34Speaker 5: other half? Is this just the screenplays or something like that,
- 36:38Speaker 5: And I was like, I thought it was. When I
- 36:40Speaker 5: first heard I thought it was funny. And then I
- 36:41Speaker 5: watched the clip and I was like, oh, I don't know,
- 36:44Speaker 5: maybe it was.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Just being an ass. I don't know. I have mixed
- 36:47Speaker 4: feelings about it. I'm excited for it.
- 36:50Speaker 1: We need to comment on.
- 36:52Speaker 2: That, ah, I mean straight sure, I mean that's probably
- 36:57Speaker 2: the truth. That's the truth.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Well, I I have sent stuff in full, both of you,
- 37:03Speaker 1: because that was an AI generated clip that I sent
- 37:05Speaker 1: to you, guys.
- 37:06Speaker 2: So I'm just gonna I saw. I was gonna ask
- 37:08Speaker 2: was that real?
- 37:09Speaker 1: I don't know if Dak picked that up. Austin clearly didn't.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I sent it to some other people too, and they
- 37:13Speaker 1: didn't pick it up. They thought it was real. But
- 37:14Speaker 1: that was gonna ask you that playbook, the screen passes
- 37:18Speaker 1: and the singing around and run the comments, those are
- 37:21Speaker 1: all that's a I generated.
- 37:23Speaker 4: I didn't even see that that's what you sent me.
- 37:25Speaker 4: I saw that on something else.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Guys. We we gotta be careful. We gotta be careful
- 37:30Speaker 1: with with a video clip.
- 37:32Speaker 5: That's the reason why I was wild. I was like,
- 37:37Speaker 5: there's no way that's a real quote. And then I
- 37:38Speaker 5: saw the video.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I started picking up when
- 37:41Speaker 2: he's this might fake when he start talking about the
- 37:43Speaker 2: runs and I was like, okay, this, I mean I
- 37:46Speaker 2: could see him seeing them staying a part about the screenplays,
- 37:48Speaker 2: like I don't I don't think he cares at all.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Right, Well, when I saw that after I watched the
- 37:53Speaker 5: Orgerson interview and I was like, it definitely.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Seems like something you would say.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, why didn't say what hold Gerson is though?
- 38:02Speaker 2: The only thing you worry about is within within me
- 38:06Speaker 2: and asked is coming right away? And these players like, well,
- 38:08Speaker 2: who the hell is this guy right just walking in
- 38:10Speaker 2: like that? And then they like, yes, screw him, but
- 38:13Speaker 2: why which is why mount that Coleman just left? Yeah?
- 38:18Speaker 1: Where the hope is that the players knew themselves. And
- 38:23Speaker 1: it's so I mean, it's funny when every time Saderfield
- 38:26Speaker 1: gets brought up in any conversation in the media with Rules,
- 38:30Speaker 1: Dana anybody, it's like it's like he's just I don't know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: you just got the motive and out, like they're trying
- 38:36Speaker 1: to still talk him up, like he's this really good dude,
- 38:38Speaker 1: but like no one has respect anymore because he I mean,
- 38:40Speaker 1: did he got fired from the office the coordinator position.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I think that all of the impressions from the players
- 38:52Speaker 1: has to be Okay, what we were doing was not working,
- 38:56Speaker 1: so we got to give this a shot. With anything new, though,
- 39:02Speaker 1: if you don't find success with it, this is why
- 39:04Speaker 1: I wrote this down. This is either gonna work or
- 39:06Speaker 1: it's gonna massively fail and blow up. When you have
- 39:09Speaker 1: that kind of mindset and that approach to things, the
- 39:12Speaker 1: straight shooter, you're either it's either gonna work, and then
- 39:15Speaker 1: that comes with wins. But this mindset is very hard.
- 39:18Speaker 1: If you're not winning or you're not having success with
- 39:21Speaker 1: what you're trying to do, you get turned against very
- 39:24Speaker 1: very quickly, especially these kids in today's world where there's
- 39:28Speaker 1: massive opportunities that are very easily accessible to just walk
- 39:32Speaker 1: away and say I'm gonna try this now, like that's
- 39:35Speaker 1: the world we live in with the transfer portal nil that.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So if it doesn't work and it's not a quick work,
- 39:42Speaker 1: it's gonna blow up. And that's just the reality of it.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's how kids are programmed these days when it comes
- 39:52Speaker 1: to persistency and trying to be determined on something. I'm
- 39:57Speaker 1: not saying they're soft, but at the same time, there's
- 39:59Speaker 1: they have some any more alternative options to choose from
- 40:03Speaker 1: if what they're doing is not working. So that's that's
- 40:07Speaker 1: that's that's the red flag that you got to be
- 40:08Speaker 1: careful with with that kind of approach. But again for
- 40:11Speaker 1: right now, with what we're trying to do for the
- 40:13Speaker 1: last two weeks, I love it. Like what we were
- 40:17Speaker 1: currently doing was not going to get us two wins
- 40:19Speaker 1: or a win. I don't think it wasn't going to
- 40:21Speaker 1: give us success. This is something different that's going to
- 40:24Speaker 1: give us a chance. Could blow up in our face,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I don't know, but it gives us hope that work,
- 40:31Speaker 1: hope for the last two games of something different.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'd love to hear his thoughts on the NIL and
- 40:37Speaker 2: transfer portal right now. I see he.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Coaches like that. Probably don't like it, No.
- 40:46Speaker 2: I don't, because I would think that he would think
- 40:48Speaker 2: people are quitting on the team.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Name some other coaches that remind you of him, Like
- 40:53Speaker 1: of him, I got a few that come to mind
- 41:00Speaker 1: thinking about how they correlate with today's environment. Mike yep
- 41:06Speaker 1: Dabbo Dabo, the recent one in the news, Brian Kellyes.
- 41:14Speaker 2: To be he tries to be like that. I don't
- 41:17Speaker 2: think it's I think he has a fake personality anyway, I'm.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Gonna say it Ni Nick and Nick Nick Saban. He's like,
- 41:25Speaker 1: I'm getting out before this all gets really messy. It's
- 41:30Speaker 1: it's interesting how this all works at it is. But
- 41:33Speaker 1: I would say, on the flip side of that, I
- 41:36Speaker 1: think Kurt Signetti has it in him, a lot of it,
- 41:40Speaker 1: and look what he's doing. So this is what I'm saying,
- 41:42Speaker 1: this approach. It can go this way or this way,
- 41:45Speaker 1: but there's not much in between on where you go.
- 41:48Speaker 1: It's it can work, and it can work really well
- 41:51Speaker 1: if it turns into wins, but if it fails, it's
- 41:54Speaker 1: gonna like look at some of these I'm not saying
- 41:57Speaker 1: Clemson Els you have fallen off, but they're not getting
- 42:00Speaker 1: to where they want to be. I have Lincoln in
- 42:04Speaker 1: the middle.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I have one coach that's stuck in the middle whole time.
- 42:08Speaker 2: B J. Fleck. Yeah, that's about the long coach. I
- 42:13Speaker 2: can't think of that. It's not falling off or going
- 42:15Speaker 2: any higher.
- 42:16Speaker 1: You're right, He's he's one that's like that, but he
- 42:18Speaker 1: has just stayed stayed very.
- 42:20Speaker 2: It's about the same every year, which is top not
- 42:23Speaker 2: for a minute like yet.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Yep, you're right. That'd be. That'd be a good one
- 42:26Speaker 1: to call out. It's different. Last day of thought here,
- 42:31Speaker 1: interesting comment. We can make some predictions on it. He
- 42:33Speaker 1: talked about he found a young guy that can make
- 42:35Speaker 1: an impact on Saturday.
- 42:38Speaker 4: It's gotta be. Originally, if I was getting Malacha Coleman,
- 42:41Speaker 4: and then all this stuff came out.
- 42:42Speaker 1: That it is, it's Malachi. I'm telling you it's Malachi.
- 42:45Speaker 4: I think so too.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I don't think this stuffs true. I think it's completely fake.
- 42:50Speaker 1: It's Malachi. In my mind, it's either that or Carter Nelson.
- 42:55Speaker 1: It's not notedge of blindman quarterback. It's not a running back.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Maybe escape Urban maybe.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Yeah, could be he's found it right as his quarterback.
- 43:12Speaker 4: It could be Dos.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Could be Dos could be Jayden Doas. It's a good one.
- 43:18Speaker 2: It's it's got to be Coleman. He's not. I looking back,
- 43:21Speaker 2: I just went back like that sweets fakeer isn't fake.
- 43:24Speaker 2: But anyway, it's got to be Malcote Coleman. I don't
- 43:27Speaker 2: see any other way because I can't. I don't know
- 43:32Speaker 2: why said I never used him either. I thought he
- 43:35Speaker 2: I thought he looked really good last year, and then
- 43:37Speaker 2: this year they said we're not gonna easy so which
- 43:40Speaker 2: did he? So did he red shirt this year?
- 43:43Speaker 1: He can so you can play, you can play the
- 43:47Speaker 1: four games and still red shirt. Another weird decision, not
- 43:53Speaker 1: that we need to get into all the details and
- 43:55Speaker 1: have a conversation about it. Of the decisions to red
- 43:59Speaker 1: shirt certain people, like it was almost like we were
- 44:03Speaker 1: five and oh so we're five and one. So they
- 44:05Speaker 1: thought that we're gonna be fine to achieve our whatever
- 44:08Speaker 1: our goals are, and so we don't have to burn
- 44:11Speaker 1: certain guys's eligibility this year. I mean Riley van Poppel
- 44:16Speaker 1: is another one that I feel I could have helped
- 44:17Speaker 1: us out quite a bit, obviously, Malachi I, it's it's weird.
- 44:23Speaker 1: It's like we tried to take a we don't need
- 44:25Speaker 1: them this year, but the flip side of that, maybe
- 44:28Speaker 1: they weren't good enough to play. I don't know, but
- 44:30Speaker 1: then we're not using guys like Jalen Lloyd too, which
- 44:33Speaker 1: it was so really good range And it just makes
- 44:38Speaker 1: you wonder what the evaluation of decision was on that, Like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: was there an over sense of overconfidence with how this
- 44:44Speaker 1: team was gonna do this year and now it's like,
- 44:48Speaker 1: oh shit, well we we made that decision, so we
- 44:50Speaker 1: can't change it because they can't. I don't know. I
- 44:54Speaker 1: thought I thought that was really weird with how especially
- 44:57Speaker 1: someone like Malachi, who we all thought from last year
- 45:00Speaker 1: could have made an impact this year, we haven't seen him.
- 45:03Speaker 1: So that's who I think it could be. And and again,
- 45:05Speaker 1: if that's what happened, d Dana very easily could have
- 45:08Speaker 1: came in and said, what the hell, why isn't this
- 45:09Speaker 1: guy playing? But what did you guys do? What what
- 45:12Speaker 1: do you guys do? And they're like, well, here's the decision.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Dana's like, why, why the hell did you do that?
- 45:18Speaker 1: That's the stupidest thing he could have done. Like, Dana
- 45:21Speaker 1: could have easily said that, and you have your blinders on,
- 45:25Speaker 1: you don't know. You just say, Okay, this guy's not playing,
- 45:28Speaker 1: red shirting him. That very easily could have been what happened.
- 45:31Speaker 1: And it kind of sounds like what happened. Dana's like, well,
- 45:33Speaker 1: we have this guy that's been sitting here all year,
- 45:35Speaker 1: he hasn't been playing, but he's really damn good, and
- 45:37Speaker 1: nobody had the balls to say, let's go get him
- 45:40Speaker 1: on the field. Like it sounds like that's what happened.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Right, And you know it's if he's like, hey, you
- 45:46Speaker 5: have this really good quarterback that could throw the ball.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Let's get the fast, big wide receiver out there. Maybe
- 45:51Speaker 5: that'll be good for Dylan Royola, who keeps, you know,
- 45:54Speaker 5: chucking it wanting to check it downfield.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Uh.
- 46:00Speaker 1: The other comment that AIND ties into our game plan
- 46:03Speaker 1: this week, Data kept talking about how it wasn't really
- 46:06Speaker 1: the the what was the word to use? Operations of
- 46:09Speaker 1: it all? It was, he said, the execution, the actually
- 46:14Speaker 1: doing the place. Yes, so I think it's important to know.
- 46:21Speaker 1: And it's not like we are changing a bunch of
- 46:25Speaker 1: stuff scheme wise. There's some new things to learn, new
- 46:28Speaker 1: terminology to learn, all of that, but it ultimately comes
- 46:31Speaker 1: down to blocking, getting holes and then when you get
- 46:33Speaker 1: the holes, running backs, can you make a run and
- 46:35Speaker 1: rule set it you got to turn a ten yard
- 46:37Speaker 1: run into a forty yard run. There are times in
- 46:41Speaker 1: rule set it this week that you go back and
- 46:43Speaker 1: watch the film, they're missed opportunities. That's nothing that we
- 46:45Speaker 1: haven't heard with this offense. Uh, it's just now, can
- 46:49Speaker 1: we coach it and fix it? Use the word fix
- 46:55Speaker 1: for the last two games enough so that we can
- 46:58Speaker 1: get a win and against Wisconsin, guys, are defense is
- 47:02Speaker 1: gonna be good Like it's not. It's not. I would
- 47:05Speaker 1: say this defense gonna be better than the last two
- 47:07Speaker 1: that we've seen, and I was probably gonna be maybe
- 47:10Speaker 1: even a little notch ahead. Uh, it's gonna be a
- 47:13Speaker 1: tough defense to score on him. We gotta be creative
- 47:15Speaker 1: and in how we are scoring and designing plays against them.
- 47:20Speaker 1: They're they're built a lot bigger, faster, stronger than the
- 47:27Speaker 1: past couple of teams we've played on the defensive side
- 47:28Speaker 1: of the ball.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I have no idea I agree that.
- 47:37Speaker 5: I mean, if you're looking at Wisconsin, their defense is
- 47:39Speaker 5: gonna be their strength. Obviously, that's why their offensive coordinator
- 47:42Speaker 5: got hired.
- 47:43Speaker 4: I looked it up.
- 47:43Speaker 5: It was Jack del nig Jack del Negro. Who who's
- 47:48Speaker 5: the uh former coach of the Raiders, Jack del Rio
- 47:54Speaker 5: Benny del Negro from the Clippers throwback.
- 47:58Speaker 4: Uh, he got he was a consultant, senior consultant on
- 48:03Speaker 4: the defensive stat not the DC.
- 48:06Speaker 5: But yeah, Wisconsin's defense is definitely it's gonna be their strength.
- 48:10Speaker 5: It hasn't been great, but they do run at their
- 48:14Speaker 5: opponents points so, and who knows what our offense is
- 48:19Speaker 5: gonna do week two?
- 48:20Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 48:24Speaker 2: I thought I thought Wisconsin was after they beat was
- 48:28Speaker 2: the Rutgers and who's the team that they scored a
- 48:31Speaker 2: lot on? Uh, I thought they were turning the corner.
- 48:37Speaker 2: And then it's just gone downhill since then, at least
- 48:41Speaker 2: offensive wise, their defense. The defense is still about to
- 48:44Speaker 2: say it has been all year up and down. I'm
- 48:46Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, I haven't watched a lick of Wisconsin football,
- 48:49Speaker 2: like a little bit against Alabama and then Van Dyke
- 48:52Speaker 2: broke his leg and I gave up on their season,
- 48:53Speaker 2: so I haven't watched the lick. Like there's no reason too.
- 48:56Speaker 2: They obviously Fickle's system that he came in trying to
- 49:03Speaker 2: do is not working, and I I don't know about
- 49:07Speaker 2: what was consent fantas feeling like, but I feel like
- 49:09Speaker 2: that he's on. He's gonna get in the hot seat too.
- 49:11Speaker 2: The same way. Rule is like like I saw tweet
- 49:14Speaker 2: earlier he's twelve and eleven that they got hired, same
- 49:18Speaker 2: exact time, he's twelve and eleven. The rule I think
- 49:21Speaker 2: is eleven and twelve or ten, so something like that.
- 49:24Speaker 2: It said it said, which those two is more surprising.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I would probably say Fickle just because he came in
- 49:31Speaker 2: with a better well that was beforehand.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah, So what's funny is I mean? If you remember
- 49:40Speaker 1: the hiring, Luke Fickle was the name that got thrown
- 49:42Speaker 1: around with our hire as well. We made our hire first,
- 49:46Speaker 1: uh and and and took that rule, and then they
- 49:51Speaker 1: got Luke Fickle. It is funny to see how the
- 49:54Speaker 1: two programs have played out. Different starting points, for sure,
- 49:58Speaker 1: but I would say we're very similar spots right now.
- 50:02Speaker 1: And Husker fans are obviously impatient, but Wisconsin fans it's
- 50:05Speaker 1: gotten worse since the decision that they made, and it's
- 50:10Speaker 1: gotten worse largely in part to the change in system
- 50:14Speaker 1: that Luke Fickle caaban and thought that he could do,
- 50:16Speaker 1: and it's trying to do again, very similar to what
- 50:21Speaker 1: Bill Callaghan decided to come in and do on a
- 50:23Speaker 1: on a program that have been having a lot of
- 50:26Speaker 1: success before that. It's almost exactly following that same path
- 50:33Speaker 1: here they are throwing it a lot more trying to
- 50:38Speaker 1: it's more spread. The Wisconsin five, six, seven, eight years
- 50:41Speaker 1: ago was give the ball to name one of the
- 50:44Speaker 1: six running backs that they gave to. It's maybe they'll say, well,
- 50:50Speaker 1: we don't have a running back like that. Well, that's
- 50:52Speaker 1: also on recruiting to get some guy like that in.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But they've always had one, their guy, Poe Walker is
- 50:59Speaker 1: they're running back this I think. I just think they're
- 51:02Speaker 1: going to go back to that. Maybe not completely there,
- 51:04Speaker 1: but they're gonna try because that's how they're gonna get
- 51:06Speaker 1: the fans and everybody bought back in to what they're
- 51:09Speaker 1: trying to do. Guys, Braden Locke is deck you said
- 51:12Speaker 1: he's not. He's fifty completion on the here, nine touchdowns,
- 51:16Speaker 1: nine interceptions. He's not gonna be outstanding now. I think
- 51:23Speaker 1: every quarterback has had an above average game on us
- 51:27Speaker 1: than what they have shown. So even though our defense
- 51:31Speaker 1: has been good, we are still making other players look
- 51:34Speaker 1: better than they are. So don't be surprised if he
- 51:36Speaker 1: does have a better game than what his stats are showing.
- 51:40Speaker 1: But I think they're gonna lean heavily on the run
- 51:41Speaker 1: and try to go back to where they had success before.
- 51:45Speaker 1: It's really too late for Luke Fickle. I don't like
- 51:48Speaker 1: you said. I don't think he's on the hot seat,
- 51:51Speaker 1: but he's getting warm and this year, and this game
- 51:54Speaker 1: in itself is gonna be all that if Wisconsin had
- 51:56Speaker 1: to make a Bowl game. Bill Callahan didn't make a
- 51:59Speaker 1: bowl game, Like right, there is what starts causing people to.
- 52:07Speaker 5: Stumble, Yeah, go for a deck.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I just don't know. I thought I thought they should
- 52:18Speaker 2: have hired Fickle. I thought that should hire Fickle instead
- 52:21Speaker 2: of Rule.
- 52:22Speaker 5: I Pickle was a bad hire when Wisconsin hired him.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Well, I no, I thought I thought he's a great
- 52:30Speaker 2: because he came from Cincinnati, right yeah, yeah, So the
- 52:39Speaker 2: I I always I thought he didn't come in and
- 52:42Speaker 2: where he messed up was he tried to completely change
- 52:46Speaker 2: what they were. They were always just a run the ball,
- 52:49Speaker 2: like yeah.
- 52:51Speaker 5: It wasn't he just it wasn't just that they were
- 52:53Speaker 5: good at ringing the ball. It's like Wisconsin will freaking
- 52:56Speaker 5: pound the rock against you.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Can throw eleven guys in the box and you're still
- 53:00Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stop.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah, And he and he came in and tried to
- 53:04Speaker 2: completely like go in from that entirely, not not at
- 53:07Speaker 2: all trying the ball at all. And you can't. You
- 53:09Speaker 2: can't do that with your You're coming in year one.
- 53:12Speaker 2: You still have the players from the last coaching staff
- 53:15Speaker 2: that that's all I did. So I don't know. I
- 53:17Speaker 2: think it's where he messed up. Maybe he can rebound.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I don't know. But but for my remember Wisconsin Nebraska
- 53:24Speaker 2: all the time, is that their run game just destroyed
- 53:26Speaker 2: Nebraska every time. Then Jonathan Taylor said a record. Yes, no, no,
- 53:33Speaker 2: it's Melvin Gordon.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Maybe maybe Jonathan Taylor said it and Melvin Gorton broke it.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I don't know, Melvin Gordon said it. Then the very
- 53:40Speaker 2: next week some JP Ryan broke it.
- 53:42Speaker 1: So it's been a rough And that was a game
- 53:46Speaker 1: that we were ahead seventeen to seven on and hundred
- 53:50Speaker 1: yards and three quarters.
- 53:52Speaker 2: They scored a game.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Any guesses since we've joined the Big Ten. Maybe you
- 53:55Speaker 1: guys saw the stat what's our record against Wisconsin?
- 54:00Speaker 4: We're gonna be like one in nine or something.
- 54:04Speaker 2: No, I think.
- 54:07Speaker 5: We played.
- 54:10Speaker 4: Two and nine.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe they beat him we had Oh yeah, I'm
- 54:18Speaker 2: gonna say two and let's.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Go three and eight, one and eleven only once eleven. Yeah,
- 54:31Speaker 1: it's a rivalry game.
- 54:33Speaker 2: But these last two years again that it's about same
- 54:36Speaker 2: way in the max football game has always got eli.
- 54:38Speaker 2: How did you lose the last year.
- 54:40Speaker 5: Last year, I remember last year, chub A Purty comes
- 54:43Speaker 5: out first drive and looks absolutely lector.
- 54:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, I can't remember how last is what
- 54:48Speaker 2: happened last year?
- 54:49Speaker 1: Yeah, guys, we've had one one hundred yard rusher since
- 54:52Speaker 1: rule's been here, Chubba Party in that Wisconsin game.
- 55:00Speaker 5: Nope, surprising.
- 55:02Speaker 2: That's also that's also you have a four running back
- 55:05Speaker 2: system right now, so.
- 55:07Speaker 5: Right, gosh, what is yes? I do not want them
- 55:14Speaker 5: to run it all over us. I think our defense
- 55:16Speaker 5: is going to do. I think our secondary and linebackers.
- 55:19Speaker 5: I think the pressure is going to be a decent unlock.
- 55:21Speaker 5: He's not a very good passer, as is any move.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll a lot make him move.
- 55:30Speaker 5: He has eighteen rushes for nineteen yards this year along,
- 55:36Speaker 5: so not really, but he will kill us when it
- 55:41Speaker 5: hurts the most. Their punter's name is Madags, so that's
- 55:45Speaker 5: kind of cool.
- 55:46Speaker 1: That that is a classic punter name. I love it.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Their people picker has made three fifty plus yards. He
- 55:55Speaker 1: is three for three.
- 55:57Speaker 2: You know it's gonna come down to that. He's get
- 56:00Speaker 2: fifty eight yard or.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Yard range.
- 56:04Speaker 1: He is over to from the in the forties.
- 56:08Speaker 2: All right, there's addictions. But before score predictions, yes or no?
- 56:14Speaker 2: Do they store on the field they make the bowl game?
- 56:17Speaker 1: You said yes the other week. I'm saying I think yes,
- 56:20Speaker 1: there's no way, no way.
- 56:26Speaker 2: You can lead it.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Go to the game. You can leave the stormfield.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Show off my shirt I'm wearing.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Just tell the people what you're wearing. You should be
- 56:35Speaker 1: wearing it tonight.
- 56:36Speaker 2: I'm wearing a ball. It's not any order of Today
- 56:38Speaker 2: off Amazon. I'm wearing a bowling shirt like an actual YEP.
- 56:45Speaker 2: I sense people and they're like, what's that mean? You're
- 56:47Speaker 2: gonna watching the game?
- 56:50Speaker 1: Here you go, go to the game, wear that shirt,
- 56:52Speaker 1: get one of our podcast hats on, and just you
- 56:55Speaker 1: not even storm the field. Streak at the end of
- 56:58Speaker 1: the second quarter or something.
- 57:01Speaker 2: There's a shot I get on TV wearing that shirt.
- 57:04Speaker 4: That's true.
- 57:05Speaker 2: It is short sleeve, so I'm we'll see. Let's see
- 57:08Speaker 2: how long I have it on.
- 57:11Speaker 4: It's supposed to be nice.
- 57:12Speaker 5: Well, they's supposed to be good.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Twelve recons, dak go, let's go twenty four to twenty Nebraska.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you did it again. You just said
- 57:28Speaker 1: they're not scoring more than six.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, that's right, twenty four sixteen Nebraska. There you go. Ah, Damn,
- 57:41Speaker 2: I don't remember what I say from the beginning of
- 57:42Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 57:46Speaker 5: Oddly enough, I actually had the same score as Dak
- 57:48Speaker 5: I had twenty four sixteen Nebraska.
- 57:54Speaker 2: That's why did That's why I did twenty four twenty
- 57:55Speaker 2: because I knew I stin the same score.
- 57:58Speaker 4: I hate it though.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Twenty to thirteen Wisconsin.
- 58:11Speaker 5: Wow, you think the offense is not Dana Holgerson Ready.
- 58:17Speaker 1: I just don't want to think that good. Don't want
- 58:20Speaker 1: to believe it till I see it.
- 58:22Speaker 2: It's a no ball game for Nebraska.
- 58:23Speaker 5: Huh.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Yeah, because we're not beating Iowa.
- 58:27Speaker 6: Because I'm going Wisconsin is one hundred and twenty seventh,
- 58:30Speaker 6: twenty seventh nationally and tackles for loss this year, they're
- 58:34Speaker 6: the fourth worst and the big ten on third down conversions.
- 58:39Speaker 4: It feels good just being hurt.
- 58:42Speaker 1: It's gonna hurt so much Saturday, guys, just be ready.
- 58:47Speaker 4: The thing is, it's crazy.
- 58:48Speaker 5: So I'm looking at the World Harold article right now,
- 58:51Speaker 5: the quote from Luke Pickle about firing their roc It's
- 58:54Speaker 5: not about playing calls, it's not about points score, it's
- 58:56Speaker 5: not about touchdowns. It's about moving forward with leadership. That's
- 58:59Speaker 5: to me, that's what we're doing. That's why we're doing
- 59:01Speaker 5: it now. I mean he's straight up like this guy
- 59:03Speaker 5: wasn't even like a good coach. He's like, was not
- 59:06Speaker 5: only were we not scoring, he's just a bad coach.
- 59:10Speaker 2: You can't you Nebraska at least fired there is going
- 59:13Speaker 2: into a bye week or I didn't. I don't know
- 59:15Speaker 2: what Stefens doing now. I don't really care.
- 59:18Speaker 1: He's doing a great job about it.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Yes he is.
- 59:24Speaker 5: Even sat with the tight ends and something like he
- 59:26Speaker 5: was like, yeah, all the coaches position coaches are doing great.
- 59:28Speaker 4: Even sat with the tight ends.
- 59:30Speaker 2: It was like, damn, they fired this guy going into
- 59:33Speaker 2: a game like, I don't think there's you can't change much.
- 59:36Speaker 2: I don't know who's com play. They might just go
- 59:39Speaker 2: wildcat if it. I don't know what they're gonna do.
- 59:42Speaker 5: You can't go wildcat from air raid.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Uh uh dak the YETI picks this week?
- 59:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give I'll get some picks here. Well my
- 59:55Speaker 2: lock was Nebraska when I was two and a half,
- 59:58Speaker 2: and then I got oh you bamma, you thirteen and
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: a half. I'll get five here Colorado minus three against Kansas.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: I got I got lost years. So let me find
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: my favorite one.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I like.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Illinois mince won against Rutgers. And then my last one
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: I really like is oh I love this Indiana plus
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: thirteen and a half. Take that. Take that long lock
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: up Nebraska put that in Indiana. That's disrespectful to Indiana.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I think you can double locket to lock it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Do it?
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Hey, do it? Do a lock parlay there?
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: What did I say last night? Mark dis and penn
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: not pencil. Indiana is winning that game. Take the money line.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Lock lock hate, lock lock up the parlay. Do a
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: little throw those together. Yeah.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: I don't like Oklahoma spread at all. I just took
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: that because.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I like Alabama a lot in that game.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Hey, I can keep that bowling shirt on though, after
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: the Huskers go bowling. Oklahoma's gonna bowling after that.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Uh? Any thoughts on the Indiana have a state game?
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Ass And I know you said, I.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: Mean I expect to have state to win.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I'm intrigued, Like I'm very intrigued because Indiana like we
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: might be their best win.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Right, she's not saying a lot, I mean the way.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: It happened to But I'm intrigued. I'm very intrigued. I'm
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I'm like almost marking that on my calendar to try
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to watch it as well.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Is it big Neon kickoff again?
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Try to get it, Try to get that watched as
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: much as the Husker game on Saturday.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Not a huge, big new kickoff. Guy, I like it
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: once in a while, but environment games are so much better.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I'm still a primetime guy.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it sucks. You can't that crowd. You can't get
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: a crowd that jacked up at eleven am. Like they
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: should do like they did, used to do the shitty
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: games at eleven the better games two thirty in the
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: absolute like Indianhouse State album at Night. But no, we
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: got to these big new I hate it.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Write a letter to him.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: I'm thinking of out it. Actually we can get into
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: some of the time. I'm actually fired up about that.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: But that's right, Dak. Would you know how to put
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: a letter in the mail properly? I got my stamps first, Okay,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: you at least know there's stamped. You know how to,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: like right on the outside of the envelope.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: YEP, address where you're mailing it to, which the address
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: the name of the company, which would be Fox Sports
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: zip code. Yep.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: What about something else and something else gonna stay in
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: front state and what something?
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: What your name?
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Your name? And it's tarking the return address address.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: I'm going to actually mail letters to these guys.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: You don't have to have a return address technically.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Big Kickoff is actually one of the things I'm most
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: fired up about right now. But I hate it.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: Uh kickoff better than Game Day?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I do like Washington Show better.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: I'm on that.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: I just don't like their games at Nude are eleven.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Simple yep, and they're starting getting a fire for it.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: The last thing here mentioned the basketball teams playing Creating
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: on Friday. I don't have like a full breakdown or prediction,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: but what I do know it's gonna be tough for
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: us to win. And I have not seen a spread yet.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: It is Wednesday evening. I'm guessing there will be one
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: out soon if there's not one already, not one out
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: yet on my app. It could be tough. I will
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: say our offense has done what I kind of thought
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: it's done so far through our first four games. It
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: has looked decent at times, and I think there's some
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: good pieces, some solid pieces there that have potential, but
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: then we go on a drought in that Saint Mary's
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: game on Sunday was really bad to start, especially defensively.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: We were giving a lot of open shots and they
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: were making them, and then we got the lead, get momentum,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: and the next thing you know, our offense goes on
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: another draft. So that can't happen.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Absolutely, just kill us inside.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Maybe maybe maybe maybe Here's what always happens though, with
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Creighton and Purdue and these teams that have these giant dudes.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: We do a tremendous job on our defense of rotating
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: and getting a quick double on the catch to where
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: the guy can't catch down, but we ended up giving
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: up a lot threes. And Creighton last year, if you
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: don't remember, just torched us. Torched us from the perimeter.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I can't remember what they were shooting, something crazy like
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: ten to twelve from three or something. Early on in
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: the game. I could see that happening again, like we
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: took we called Klkbrenner right, but they knew how to
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: dissect the rotation that we have our rotational defense and
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: and and scored a lot on it. That's kind of
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: what I'm predicting to happen. I think we'll do a
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: decent job on Caulkbrenner, like he he dropped forty something,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: or if he's dropped forty a couple of times this year.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I don't think we're gonna let that happen. But it's
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: gonna be a tough team to guard. And then offensively,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: like good luck one trying to score with a seven
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: foot four guy in the middle of the paint. We
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: just we just still need to figure out. It's a
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: long season, but we got to figure out how we're
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: going to consistently score points with.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: The team as well as it did last year.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: There's it's because we don't have immediate threat in case
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: A and a guy like Rank who facilitates the offense
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: very well at kind of that point forward spot. We
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: don't have that this year. It's we're trying to find
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: figure it out. I'm not saying we can't get there,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: but I just don't have much hope that it will.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: Caulk BRender is shooting nine from fel goal. I mean,
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: you should a nine percent free throw too, but you should.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Do is drop it.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: He's standing and drops it in and he's putting up
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: twenty six points a game.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Austin going, but you going.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: No, tickets were a little bit more than I wanted
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: to pay.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: To be honest, I thought they're expensive. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: just don't think the rest is enough offensive power. But hey,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: a two years ago their offense sucked. They beat Creaton
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: and Creighton.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: I might go to the women's game. Actually tickets have
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: gone down a little bit.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I think is a double hatter.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: The women's playing a different facility about walking the Creating
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: women's facilities actually really really neat. It's perfect for a
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: women's team. Yeah, d J sokol Arena, I think is
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: what it's called.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: It's I've only been to the basketball tournament there.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: But he gets a few blocks west of the Charles
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Schwab Field.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: So all right, so let's do this instead of corporate
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: thin because well, but Creaton spread project the spread.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: It's gonna be or what we think the game is
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: gonna go out to.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: What the spread is gonna be like coming out give
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: me eight and.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: A half, I'm gonna go ooh. I think it'll be
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: like twelve and a half. And I think they'll win
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: by eighteen.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think. Damn, I was gonna say twelve and
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: a half. Let's go, let's go thirteen and a half. Then
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: I think I think great wins by twelve.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Oh that brastly covering.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: What I Yeah, do.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: You forget what you said already?
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Yeah said the eleven and a half or thirteen and a half.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: All right, we'll be back Sunday, hopefully not extremely disappointed.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Once again, go be grad.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: If you are badly when we're serio, it's gonna be
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: a blood bath. You picked them, Yeah, I don't believe it,
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: though they're gonna get just it's gonna be bad.
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: Start Dy
