- 0:01If we observe ourselves carefully, we find that as a
- 0:05natural consequence of the distractions and the dispersion
- 0:09of the Consciousness we have little, if any calm and peace in
- 0:13the being, we experienced not only the more overt forms of
- 0:18anxiety and concern, but the more subtle forms of nervous
- 0:23disquiet and mental lack of ease. emotions and reactions are
- 0:28strung tight and we'd us easily respond to even moderately
- 0:33imperfect circumstances with an excess of response, leading to
- 0:39the maladies of the day, which include hypertension, and all
- 0:43manner of physiological, emotional, and mental, impacts
- 0:47of anger, rage dissatisfaction and irritation Contrast this
- 0:55with the kind of peace, that permeates the being as one
- 0:59learns to dissociate oneself from these external reactions
- 1:05and we Tri aurobindo describes as an increasing quietude and
- 1:09silence in the being. The status can be operative even
- 1:15in the midst of intense action in external circumstances.
- 1:19Shri Krishna gave his teaching to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita
- 1:23on the battlefield, after all symbolic of the need to attain
- 1:27peace and maintain it, in the midst of all, circumstances of
- 1:32life, people who have not had this experience, tend to believe
- 1:37it is not possible yet. There is considerable evidence,
- 1:42both historical and through the experiences of many individuals
- 1:47that a profound state of Peace in the being is absolutely
- 1:51attainable and can become the foundation for action.
- 1:56In fact, the real test of the piece is its ability to
- 2:00withstand the pressures of outer circumstances without breaking
- 2:04down. Dr. Dalal notes.
- 2:08Quote D, the normal State of Consciousness is a state of
- 2:13continual disquiet and agitation due to its constant,
- 2:17distractibility, and dispersion. As the Consciousness grows one
- 2:23becomes more and more aware of a deeper Consciousness which is
- 2:27felt as a substrate. Mm of quiet and peace and quote
- 2:33SRI, aurobindo writes quote, even when it the inner
- 2:37Consciousness is active there is felt behind the action or
- 2:42containing it a complete quietude or silence.
- 2:46The more one concentrates the more this Attitude in silence
- 2:51increases. That is why there seems to be
- 2:54all quiet within even though all sorts of things may be taking
- 2:59place within And quote, reference SRI aurobindo in the
