- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:04Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word. You can
- 0:09Speaker 1: always come back home. Luke 15, 18 through 19 says, Father,
- 0:15Speaker 1: I have sinned against heaven and against you. I'm no
- 0:18Speaker 1: longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like
- 0:21Speaker 1: one of your hired servants. Have you ever made a
- 0:24Speaker 1: mistake that left you feeling like you had disappointed God
- 0:27Speaker 1: so badly that you didn't deserve another chance? Maybe you
- 0:31Speaker 1: look back over your life and think about the decisions
- 0:34Speaker 1: you made, the time you wasted or the places you
- 0:37Speaker 1: went that you knew you shouldn't have gone. And now
- 0:40Speaker 1: shame has convinced you that you've gone too far for
- 0:44Speaker 1: God to welcome you back. Well, I got a word
- 0:47Speaker 1: for you today. You can always come back home. In
- 0:50Speaker 1: Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of the prodigal son.
- 0:54Speaker 1: He took his father's inheritance, left home, and wasted what
- 0:57Speaker 1: he had on reckless living. Eventually, he found himself broke, broken,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and desperate.
- 1:04Speaker 2: When he finally.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Decided to return home, he didn't expect to be treated
- 1:08Speaker 1: like a son. He was willing to come back as
- 1:10Speaker 1: a servant because he believed his mistakes had cost him life.
- 1:14Speaker 1: his place in his father's heart.
- 1:17Speaker 2: But he underestimated his father's love.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The Bible tells us that when the father saw him coming,
- 1:24Speaker 1: he ran to meet him. He embraced him and welcomed
- 1:27Speaker 1: him home. The son was preparing a speech about his unworthiness,
- 1:31Speaker 1: but his father responded.
- 1:33Speaker 2: With love and restoration. Come on, Jesus. And see, that's
- 1:37Speaker 2: the picture.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Of the heart of God toward those who run and
- 1:41Speaker 1: turn back to him. You see, there are two voices
- 1:45Speaker 1: you may hear when you've fallen. One says, look at
- 1:48Speaker 1: what you've done. God is finished with you. You might
- 1:51Speaker 1: as well stay away. That voice wants your shame to
- 1:54Speaker 1: become your prison. Oh, but the devil is a liar.
- 1:57Speaker 1: God reminds you in his word that his mercy is
- 2:02Speaker 1: available when you sincerely repent and turn to him. The
- 2:06Speaker 1: enemy wants you hiding in guilt, but God invites you
- 2:09Speaker 1: into his presence to receive forgiveness and to begin again.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Listen to me.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Your mistakes may be a part of your story, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: they don't have to be the end of your story.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You're not required to remain stuck in yesterday's failures. You
- 2:24Speaker 1: can acknowledge what went wrong, take responsibility, make things right
- 2:28Speaker 1: where possible, and allow God to to keep you moving forward.
- 2:33Speaker 1: His grace doesn't give us permission to keep doing wrong.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It gives us the opportunity to strength and the strength
- 2:40Speaker 1: to change. So stop letting shame convince you that you
- 2:43Speaker 1: no longer belong in God's presence. You don't have to
- 2:46Speaker 1: clean yourself up before you come to God. Come honestly,
- 2:50Speaker 1: come humbly, come with a repentant heart. Your father's calling
- 2:54Speaker 1: you home. Don't let guilt keep you away from the
- 2:58Speaker 1: very one who can restore you.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Father, thank you that your mercy is greater than our mistakes.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Forgive us for the times we've wandered away from your
- 3:08Speaker 1: will and give us the courage to return to you
- 3:10Speaker 1: with an open and repentant heart. Silence every voice that
- 3:15Speaker 1: shames us and tells us that we're unworthy of your love. God,
- 3:18Speaker 1: help us to learn from our past without living in it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Thank you, God, for loving us. Thank you, God, for
- 3:24Speaker 1: forgiving us. Thank you, God, for giving us the opportunity
- 3:27Speaker 1: to begin again. Oh, today we receive your grace and
- 3:31Speaker 1: we come to you in Jesus' name. Hey, now that's
- 3:34Speaker 1: your word for today. I want you to take that
- 3:38Speaker 1: Apply it to your everyday life and you continue to
- 3:40Speaker 1: be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning praise party.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I am Sherri Mackey.
