- 0:00Speaker 1: I believe that should be categorized as rude. This is
- 0:04Speaker 1: One More Thing.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Armstrong and Getty. One More Thing. One of your rare
- 0:10Speaker 2: Katie-hosted One More Thing podcasts. Before we get to whatever
- 0:13Speaker 2: that is. So, everybody seems to be uncomfortable with this
- 0:19Speaker 2: topic of my current physical condition, as I have not.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Your BMs?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I have not done that in four days and counting.
- 0:34Speaker 2: There are ads for it on television all the time.
- 0:36Speaker 2: It's clearly a common situation, right?
- 0:39Speaker 3: It is.
- 0:41Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I was always like... Why
- 0:43Speaker 2: are there so many ads for this? Or I remember
- 0:45Speaker 2: watching sitcoms. The old guys would always be like, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 2: fist bumping. Hey, I did it today. You know, I
- 0:51Speaker 2: was like, really? Is that what?
- 0:54Speaker 4: It's not common enough for you to go, oh, this
- 0:56Speaker 4: is common. I'll just let it happen when it happens. No,
- 0:59Speaker 4: you need to keep an.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Eye on it. Well, right.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Well, it's uncomfortable. And I am starting to get concerned.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I think it was. I think it's been since the
- 1:08Speaker 2: last weekend.
- 1:09Speaker 4: It was five days last Thursday that you hadn't.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Had a good weekend, but since then. But so Joe
- 1:19Speaker 2: said we're getting lots of emails, stuff like that. Is
- 1:21Speaker 2: there a common theme on the remedies? Probably fiber is
- 1:24Speaker 2: a common theme.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, hammer down some Miralax and this and that.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Hey, warm prune juice. I swear to all that is holy,
- 1:32Speaker 4: you will. That was what I did when I was pregnant.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I should try them all because it might be everybody's
- 1:38Speaker 2: body's a little different and one remedy works really great
- 1:41Speaker 2: for one person, not another. I'm doing the Miralax, which
- 1:43Speaker 2: is what ChatGPT suggested. I'm doing the max dosage every
- 1:47Speaker 2: day all week long.
- 1:48Speaker 4: So Miralax takes 24 hours to react to your body
- 1:52Speaker 4: is what it says.
- 1:53Speaker 2: On the bottle. I've been doing it every day for
- 1:55Speaker 2: several weeks.
- 1:56Speaker 4: So go get the, not like the prune juice extract,
- 2:00Speaker 4: but like the glass bottle.
- 2:01Speaker 1: 100% prune juice extract.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And warm it up for like 30 seconds in the
- 2:06Speaker 4: microwave and drink that.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And be near a bathroom.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I will try that. Joe's disgusted with this conversation. Like
- 2:12Speaker 2: it's not a part of the human body.
- 2:14Speaker 1: He's looking at us like peasants right now.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I just see our demographic going entirely 80 plus.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Or pregnant women.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Here's another one. Tell Jack to mix one tablespoon of
- 2:25Speaker 3: baking soda and eight ounces of water. Drink it. Within
- 2:28Speaker 3: 30 minutes, he will have a cleaned out system. 30 minutes.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I'm wondering if people aren't confusing hiccup remedies with this.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Stand on your head and drink water with a spoon
- 2:41Speaker 2: in your mouth. No, that's the hiccups.
- 2:43Speaker 3: All right. Here's the colon cleanse given to Vanessa by
- 2:49Speaker 3: her doctor. Four caps of Miralax and eight ounces of water.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Repeat four hours later. If no movement, by morning, repeat again.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You will go. Then at least one cap of Miralax
- 2:59Speaker 3: every day in something you drink. And stool softener every day.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It will keep you regular. Ask me how I know.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Most of those, some people say that you shouldn't use
- 3:07Speaker 2: that stuff because it throws off your system.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It does.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Recent research says that's not true. I don't know, but
- 3:13Speaker 2: I'd hate to do any permanent damage to myself. Hold
- 3:15Speaker 2: a magnet next to your belly. Now, that's how to
- 3:17Speaker 2: tell if it's a boy or a girl.
- 3:19Speaker 3: No.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Oh, jeez.
- 3:21Speaker 4: So I can tell you from recent pregnant issues, Miralax
- 3:26Speaker 4: does mess with your regular routine.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Oh, I don't want that. Of course, my regular routine
- 3:33Speaker 2: is once every full moon.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Jack, if you're going to be home all day, warm
- 3:39Speaker 4: prune juice, just hang out for like 20 minutes.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You'll be fine.
- 3:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Oh, boy.
- 3:43Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:44Speaker 2: That's great.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Joe, come on. Like you don't.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Joe's... pretending this is an old person thing but i
- 3:52Speaker 2: guess it's super common with anybody on glps yeah and
- 3:55Speaker 2: that's everybody i would.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Prefer to discuss the magic of the free market versus
- 4:00Speaker 3: collectivism not.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Pooping excuse me entertaining where is it going four.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Days saving it like money okay so what is what
- 4:14Speaker 2: is your thing there i'm collecting it's like it's pokemon cards.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Or something oh boy all right um here we go
- 4:21Speaker 4: uh this is i mean i feel like i'm beating
- 4:24Speaker 4: a dead horse at this point because i've already talked
- 4:26Speaker 4: about it breastfeeding.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I feel like now that.
- 4:31Speaker 4: I'm four almost four months into this i feel like
- 4:34Speaker 4: it's a rude question to ask a woman oh are
- 4:40Speaker 4: you in what setting Well, so like yesterday, I'm at
- 4:42Speaker 4: the gym, and I brought Van with me, and he's
- 4:45Speaker 4: just hanging out in his little stroller, and everybody's oohing
- 4:48Speaker 4: and aahing over him. And this woman leans in, and
- 4:50Speaker 4: she goes, so you're breastfeeding him, right? And I looked
- 4:54Speaker 4: at her, and I said— That is so out of line.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 4:58Speaker 4: But that's where I'm going with this, is it's like,
- 5:02Speaker 4: for whatever reason— and this is a woman-to-woman thing, so you
- 5:05Speaker 4: guys are.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Whiskey, only whiskey.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Right yeah by the way that'll take care of your
- 5:10Speaker 3: other problem too but.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I dip his bink and jameson and he shuts up.
- 5:15Speaker 4: That's what i do uh no but this i guess
- 5:19Speaker 4: this is like a woman to woman thing so i'm
- 5:20Speaker 4: putting it out there on the podcast right now ladies
- 5:23Speaker 4: that is that is rude as hell to ask another
- 5:26Speaker 4: woman she goes so you're breastfeeding right and i said
- 5:30Speaker 4: no And then, oh, why? And now I have to
- 5:34Speaker 4: go into like the whole, oh, my supply didn't come in.
- 5:38Speaker 4: And it's nobody's effing business. But that is like a
- 5:42Speaker 4: regular question that you ask a new mom, apparently.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Memorize this. I don't discuss my private life with people
- 5:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Or you're an a-hole.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But, I mean, I know-ish her. Like, she's like an acquaintance. Like,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I work out with her all the time.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I wouldn't even ask my close friends that question.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Right?
- 6:05Speaker 4: And that's what I'm saying, is it's like, you don't
- 6:07Speaker 4: ask about politics, religion, how much they make in life,
- 6:11Speaker 4: and don't ask a mom if she's breastfeeding.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like, that's weird. Because when you do, if she is, oh,
- 6:17Speaker 1: that's beautiful.
- 6:18Speaker 4: That's so great. Your body's getting all the nutrients. And
- 6:21Speaker 4: if she's not, oh, well, why? what ha what happened
- 6:24Speaker 4: to you?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Are you, are you okay?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Let me send you this study.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Yeah. And it just turns into this whole thing. And
- 6:30Speaker 4: I had to tell her, you know what? I couldn't breastfeed.
- 6:34Speaker 4: My son has a tongue tie. I pumped for two
- 6:36Speaker 4: months and then my body decided F you, I'm not
- 6:39Speaker 4: going to do this anymore. And the doctor said, don't
- 6:42Speaker 4: worry about it. But for her.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It was like, oh, well you should, you should continue.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You should continue pumping. You should keep trying.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And I mean, I guess if you're not doing it,
- 6:55Speaker 4: you don't know. But like, that's the most stressful thing
- 6:58Speaker 4: on the planet.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm all through the early pregnancy, baby. The number
- 7:06Speaker 2: of things people are willing to say or ask is
- 7:09Speaker 2: pretty shocking.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It is unreal.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Develop a thick skin for it.
- 7:14Speaker 1: They want to come down. They want to touch the baby.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Are you breastfeeding the baby?
- 7:19Speaker 3: It's so unimaginable to me to violate somebody's privacy like that.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It's very difficult for me to get inside the head
- 7:27Speaker 3: of somebody who would and even talk about how you
- 7:29Speaker 3: would deal with that other than to say, I don't
- 7:32Speaker 3: discuss that sort of thing with people I don't know
- 7:33Speaker 3: very well.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think it's a girl thing. It's a woman thing.
- 7:38Speaker 3: You're part of a magical, sacred club.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Men don't ask you.
- 7:45Speaker 1: No, thank you, actually. Thank God.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Thank God for the men of the world because they
- 7:50Speaker 4: don't ask me that. But it's like this weird open
- 7:54Speaker 4: door that shouldn't be open between women where they're like, oh, so.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And like, let's dive into all your most personal. Sorry, Hanson.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Let's dive into all your most personal shit. And I
- 8:08Speaker 1: don't know.
- 8:08Speaker 4: It's a very bizarre world that I'm living in right now.
- 8:11Speaker 4: But my son is just so cute.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You got that going for you.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I had one more rude comment. I was talking to
- 8:20Speaker 2: my son about this. So we meet this guy who's
- 8:24Speaker 2: doing some work for me, and he's an older guy,
- 8:26Speaker 2: and we got on a conversation about how long he's
- 8:27Speaker 2: been doing. I said, how old are you? And he said,
- 8:29Speaker 2: how old do you think I am? Which is a
- 8:31Speaker 2: chick question. That's a rough question. That's not a dude
- 8:33Speaker 2: thing to say.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not fair.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Dudes don't say that. They just tell you how old
- 8:35Speaker 2: they are. Chicks go with the how old do you
- 8:38Speaker 2: think I am, if you ask, which you shouldn't. Anyway...
- 8:43Speaker 2: He said, well, we're about the same age. And then
- 8:46Speaker 2: he said, I think we're the same age.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And then when he announced his age, he told me,
- 8:56Speaker 2: he said, oh, I thought you were way older than that.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Why would you ever say that to anyone ever? I mean,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm not offended. But part of being in this job
- 9:04Speaker 2: is you get people. You just don't care. I'm just
- 9:07Speaker 2: amused by people that say things like that. It's just like,
- 9:10Speaker 2: what result do you think you get from telling anybody
- 9:14Speaker 2: at any age? Well, maybe when they're 12, but past
- 9:19Speaker 2: 30 that I thought you were much older than that.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Thanks for that, a-hole. It's just cluelessness. Like I'm always asking,
- 9:28Speaker 2: what else goes with that personality trait?
- 9:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You would say that sort of thing to a random stranger.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You just made their life less pleasant. What is that?
- 9:39Speaker 4: My mom taught me the best lesson when I was,
- 9:41Speaker 4: I think I was in like seventh.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Grade, I believe.
- 9:45Speaker 4: And this one chick in my class came up to
- 9:47Speaker 4: me and told, oh, Gladys is on point today.
- 9:52Speaker 3: She's on it.
- 9:53Speaker 4: This one chick came up to me and told me
- 9:55Speaker 4: that another chick in our grade didn't like me. And
- 10:01Speaker 4: it hurt the hell out of my feelings. I don't
- 10:03Speaker 4: handle confrontation well ever.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And I didn't then. And I was really upset. And
- 10:09Speaker 1: I went home and I told my mom about it.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And she goes, what kind of person would tell you that?
- 10:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Like, what kind of person would go up to you
- 10:16Speaker 1: and say, hey, Katie.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Becky doesn't like you. Like, what was that doing for her?
- 10:23Speaker 2: That sort of person who does that.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That's a different kind of person, and I'm glad I
- 10:28Speaker 1: don't relate.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I thought you were much older than that.
- 10:33Speaker 1: No, I thought, well, are you breastfeeding? You're not?
- 10:37Speaker 3: What? This job has been like a multi-decade training course
- 10:43Speaker 3: in developing a thick skin. But I have this internal
- 10:47Speaker 3: thing that I remember. I don't really have to try
- 10:51Speaker 3: to remember anymore. I have in my brain a standard
- 10:57Speaker 3: for whose opinion I care about even a little bit.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Your judges, as they call them in the therapy world.
- 11:06Speaker 3: How interesting.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Who are your judges in your life? Like my parents
- 11:08Speaker 2: are judges? A very small group after that. Very small.
- 11:12Speaker 3: So that's like judges, you accept that they can play
- 11:16Speaker 3: that role for you.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: You care. You care what they think.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Intriguing.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Interesting. And yeah, there's a really, I have a really
- 11:24Speaker 3: high standard. Partly because, again, and a lot of you
- 11:27Speaker 3: can't relate to this, but you encounter so many people.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Who want to tell you not only their opinion of
- 11:33Speaker 3: maybe the world, and that's always welcome, but their opinion
- 11:37Speaker 3: of you.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:38Speaker 2: How you look.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Right. How you're wearing.
- 11:40Speaker 3: I mean, by the thousands.
- 11:42Speaker 1: How you sound, what you say.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 3: But y'all can do that in your life. Think about, now,
- 11:49Speaker 3: wait a minute. If I were to seriously consider whose
- 11:52Speaker 3: opinion should affect me, even a little bit, it would
- 11:56Speaker 3: be a select group. I've got to have known you
- 11:58Speaker 3: for a significant amount of time, and I have.
- 12:00Speaker 2: To respect you.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Because if I don't respect somebody, what the hell do
- 12:03Speaker 3: I think? But they care what they think. So I
- 12:06Speaker 3: hope that helps folks.
- 12:07Speaker 2: If there's one thing I could give... Two teenagers that
- 12:10Speaker 2: I'm raising is not caring what other people think that
- 12:14Speaker 2: you get when you're older. It just seems so ridiculous
- 12:17Speaker 2: to care what they think about this or that.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But it's part of the life thing, I guess.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I'm quote-unquote older, and sometimes I just get this wild
- 12:27Speaker 4: anxiety over nothing about something that I might have said
- 12:31Speaker 4: three days ago to somebody that really doesn't matter.
- 12:34Speaker 3: It's weird. Well, I hope that fades for you a
- 12:37Speaker 3: little bit.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Amen.
- 12:40Speaker 3: And, you know, it's also worth considering, then I'll shut up,
- 12:42Speaker 3: that the sort of people who would say something hurtful
- 12:45Speaker 3: like that little girl or the old Farger or whatever,
- 12:52Speaker 3: they definitely would not make that list of people you'd respect.
- 12:55Speaker 3: So the very act of them saying something stupid like
- 12:57Speaker 3: that proves that, oh, they would never be on the list.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So I move on with my day.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I've been asking the women in the office how much
- 13:06Speaker 2: they weigh.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Nice!
- 13:09Speaker 1: Good stuff, Michael.
- 13:10Speaker 2: It's a concern for their health. Should I stop? Hey,
- 13:13Speaker 2: what's your BMI? Should I stop?
- 13:16Speaker 1: What is your arm circumference?
- 13:18Speaker 2: Good stuff.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 13:20Speaker 2: No, no, no. Well, I guess that's it. Your arm circumference.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That's a good one.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
