- 0:37Speaker 1: have gone way up, and it's just people love seeing
- 0:40Speaker 1: a car wreck. I guess.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Well, last week, you know, he hid from us per usual.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We're going out of the locker room and I see
- 0:46Speaker 3: him and I'm like, canna get you tomorrow, get your ship.
- 0:52Speaker 3: There was there was a helicopter, though I don't know

- 1:16Speaker 4: Wow, hard words, Joe emailer on caller crime.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Well, the emailers have time to write out an email.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I still can't read. It's not really in English most
- 1:26Speaker 4: of the time.

- 1:35Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:39Speaker 1: at Jills Stadium, and it's Steelers week. Very short week,
- 1:44Speaker 1: very difficult week to get ready for short turnaround. We
- 1:50Speaker 1: have to move around practice shows. We're not even gonna
- 1:54Speaker 1: have Evan back from practice today because they move practice
- 1:57Speaker 1: till later in the afternoon, so it's not even happening
- 2:01Speaker 1: during our show. So very upset about that. It's not
- 2:04Speaker 1: even gonna be a Thursday show. Yeah, Evan and I
- 2:06Speaker 1: have to go to Pittsburgh tomorrow, so today we're gonna
- 2:09Speaker 1: do picks, a special Tuesday picks. Did we sell the hurry? Uh? Yeah? Oh?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Look more so?
- 2:16Speaker 4: All right, it's only one bye.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oh geez, you didn't print out my sheet though.
- 2:21Speaker 4: The last bye of the season, I believe.
- 2:24Speaker 7: Yeah, the Cardinals they're among them. I think, right, they
- 2:27Speaker 7: got a game in hand.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Don't figure out.
- 2:29Speaker 8: Sorry, I'm only paying atention about three teams right now.
- 2:31Speaker 3: So yeah, watch three? Why is that dud?
- 2:34Speaker 7: The Panthers, the Cardinals.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It's kind of interested in the Bears all of a sudden,
- 2:39Speaker 3: we need a quarterback.
- 2:40Speaker 8: I'm really rude for Justin Fields to play great.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So, I mean, I mean we talked about it at
- 2:45Speaker 1: length after the game on the postgame show. I mean,
- 2:48Speaker 1: is there anything left to say about the six Nothing?
- 2:53Speaker 1: I don't even want to call it a game that
- 2:54Speaker 1: we saw on Sunday?
- 2:55Speaker 4: Oh wow?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Oh, I mean, like, what are we doing here?
- 2:58Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 3:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:00Speaker 7: I mean I watched a little I watched a little film.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I know, Evan wrote a thing.
- 3:04Speaker 8: We talked. We didn't really have a chance to talk much.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:08Speaker 7: What's uh, What's one thing I took away from the film.
- 3:11Speaker 7: I would say that I thought the coverage was really good.
- 3:13Speaker 7: I thought their coverage played really well.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, fair enough, defense played well. Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 7: I mean I just thought it looked in sync. And
- 3:20Speaker 7: you know, they just they do what they do. I
- 3:21Speaker 7: think this is when you get to this point in
- 3:22Speaker 7: the season when you start to see some kind of progress,
- 3:25Speaker 7: it's just, uh, you know, they were on top of it.
- 3:28Speaker 7: They were on top of their coverage, and they were
- 3:29Speaker 7: with guys and they were tight, and they you know
- 3:31Speaker 7: made him, made him work for everything he got.
- 3:33Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:33Speaker 7: It's uh so that was I think a highlight for me.
- 3:35Speaker 7: I still don't think, you know, the pressure is all
- 3:37Speaker 7: that great and they don't really have a dominant kind
- 3:39Speaker 7: of guy up front.
- 3:40Speaker 4: But I thought Jonathan Jones was really good in this game.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah he was.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Thought he was really good in this game.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, this was the best coverage game they've had all year.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I think it's on the It's in the short list
- 3:52Speaker 3: for me. I would say given the circumstances, they've had
- 3:56Speaker 3: maybe better coverage games than they had Christian Gonzales, like
- 3:58Speaker 3: against Philly or something, but since they don't have Christian Gonzales,
- 4:01Speaker 3: I would say this is the most impressive coverage game
- 4:05Speaker 3: that they've had all year long. They really I know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: he had fifty eight yards, but Keenan Allen, they had
- 4:12Speaker 3: a great plan against him, a vintage Belichick of if
- 4:15Speaker 3: you're going to beat us, you're gonna beat us throwing too.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Everybody else and not your number one guy. I thought
- 4:20Speaker 3: they actually effectively did that this time around, and Jonathan
- 4:24Speaker 3: Jones had a really good game until the last play
- 4:27Speaker 3: of the game. Miles Bryant was really involved in a
- 4:30Speaker 3: lot of the different things that they did against Keenan Allen, J. C. Jackson,
- 4:34Speaker 3: against his former teams. I'm not really surprised that he
- 4:36Speaker 3: had a bounce back game, but he had a bounce
- 4:38Speaker 3: back game. And the safety is, you know, Pepper's dugger.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Those guys were mostly on top of things. I thought
- 4:45Speaker 3: the pressure was more by design. I think that their
- 4:49Speaker 3: whole plan was to make Justin Herbert throw to second
- 4:54Speaker 3: third read in the progression from the pocket, like, don't
- 4:57Speaker 3: let him turn this into playground football, don't let him
- 5:00Speaker 3: extend plays. So they were trying to do the old
- 5:03Speaker 3: Star Wars trash compact.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I agree with that.
- 5:05Speaker 4: We actually talked about that a little bit. I felt
- 5:08Speaker 4: like it was disappoint they didn't get any pressure, but
- 5:11Speaker 4: I do feel like they dropped a lot in coverage.
- 5:13Speaker 4: They didn't really heat them up much, and I thought,
- 5:17Speaker 4: I agree with Evan, I thought that was by design.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah, this was a coverage plan. This was not a
- 5:22Speaker 3: pressure plan.
- 5:23Speaker 7: I think it was fun though, just about watching this
- 5:25Speaker 7: particular part of it. It's just it's it's so hard
- 5:27Speaker 7: in the NFL to cover guys and you know, you
- 5:29Speaker 7: just like every player you pretty much look and you're like,
- 5:30Speaker 7: somebody's going to be open.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's just it's really hard.
- 5:32Speaker 7: But yeah, like in this game, it's like really cool
- 5:35Speaker 7: to watch just everything kind of click into place. They're
- 5:38Speaker 7: all kind of in you know, I think on a string.
- 5:40Speaker 7: I think it is always sometimes say you know, so
- 5:42Speaker 7: look where I mean, you're looking for things that you
- 5:44Speaker 7: are kind of cake a little bit of Oh that
- 5:46Speaker 7: was kind of nice to watch. So I just I
- 5:48Speaker 7: thought they played well. Credit to the you knows coaches there.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So the bigger question is is the defense twenty twenty
- 5:55Speaker 1: three a silver lining of the season or do you
- 5:58Speaker 1: have to take it with a grain of salt because
- 6:00Speaker 1: other teams, No, I don't really need to do much.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I don't need to take risks and they're making it
- 6:05Speaker 1: easier for the defense. You know, what do we make
- 6:08Speaker 1: of this defense? And then who do we give the
- 6:11Speaker 1: credit to? Is it still all Bill? Is it Steven Gerard?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Is it Girod? Is it Steve and a lot of
- 6:18Speaker 1: good questions regardless of what happens next year. How much
- 6:21Speaker 1: of it do you do you trot back because the
- 6:23Speaker 1: defense was good.
- 6:24Speaker 7: I'll just say my first thought coming out of it
- 6:26Speaker 7: when I, you know, did the D was just I
- 6:28Speaker 7: want to see Kansas City, like go up against Kansas
- 6:30Speaker 7: City and then you know, and then show me then
- 6:32Speaker 7: then I'll then I'll tell you. I mean, I think
- 6:34Speaker 7: I think they're a good coach team, and I think that,
- 6:36Speaker 7: you know, it does give you some pause of if
- 6:38Speaker 7: you're gonna blow this whole thing up, and you know,
- 6:39Speaker 7: you do think that this is a well coached defense
- 6:42Speaker 7: that's established, that has a lot of pieces that are
- 6:43Speaker 7: supposed to come back next year, you know. But I
- 6:46Speaker 7: think the foremost for me is that you got good
- 6:48Speaker 7: pieces in the secondary. You got to get another pass rusher.
- 6:52Speaker 7: You can't go into next year with just Matthew judaan As.
- 6:54Speaker 7: You You need a guy who's a three down guy
- 6:56Speaker 7: who is going to be able to get to the
- 6:58Speaker 7: quarterback on his own without design and scheme. And I
- 7:00Speaker 7: think that's just a huge need for the D. But
- 7:02Speaker 7: otherwise I feel, you know, in terms of what this
- 7:04Speaker 7: defense is right now, that they're well coach, they know
- 7:07Speaker 7: what they want to do, and you know, but I
- 7:09Speaker 7: got to see it against Kansas City to really say
- 7:10Speaker 7: this is actually a really good defense because how much
- 7:13Speaker 7: teams really care because they look at the other side of.
- 7:15Speaker 1: The ball and they're like, I don't know, we'll just
- 7:17Speaker 1: punt it.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Like, you know, the Chiefs haven't been great on offense.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well you know, most of the and that's the other thing.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I you know, Burrow is hurt, Trevor Lawrence got hurt
- 7:28Speaker 1: last night. The Chiefs aren't the offense that they have been,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you know, for whatever reason. If you look at like
- 7:34Speaker 1: the AFC is kind of wide open right now, it
- 7:37Speaker 1: really is. And if the Patriots had been a decent team,
- 7:41Speaker 1: like we'd be thinking, like, who maybe they can get
- 7:43Speaker 1: into the playoffs, you know, like but obviously they can't now.
- 7:46Speaker 1: But like it isn't like what we thought it was
- 7:49Speaker 1: going to be when the season started, Like, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 1: all these teams are going to be just wagons, you know,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Bills, and you know they're not the Bills.
- 7:57Speaker 4: If you look at that, like it's on NFL Network
- 7:59Speaker 4: right now. The Bills are the one team that you
- 8:01Speaker 4: would have expected to be in that playoff structure with
- 8:04Speaker 4: a good record that the other the four division leaders
- 8:07Speaker 4: all have good record.
- 8:07Speaker 1: They all have good records, but they're vulnerable, you know
- 8:10Speaker 1: what I mean. They they they're vulnerable. They're not wagons.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Well they got three to four losses. I mean, I
- 8:17Speaker 7: think is what you're getting at. But yeah, I mean,
- 8:20Speaker 7: it's it's I mean I was having the same thought
- 8:23Speaker 7: of like, you know, if you showed these standings right now,
- 8:25Speaker 7: and you know, just cover the teams and you saw
- 8:27Speaker 7: that the top four teams were nine and three, nine and.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Three, eight and four, eight and four in the AFC, you.
- 8:31Speaker 7: Know, you'd probably come into the season like, man, the
- 8:33Speaker 7: Patriots have a real you know, opportunity here.
- 8:35Speaker 4: But like I would just I would just look at
- 8:37Speaker 4: it and say, like, Dolphins, Ravens, Chiefs, right beyond those three,
- 8:44Speaker 4: who do you think has a chance to represent the AFC?
- 8:47Speaker 8: Well, I mean the Bills maybe.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Right now, the only other team I would put in
- 8:50Speaker 4: that category.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Right now because all the quarterbacks are hurt, you know.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But like at the beginning of the season, we thought.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Okay, so which team who's not in those three? Cincinnati
- 9:00Speaker 4: would yeah, I said it, Yeah, you still have the Jags.
- 9:03Speaker 7: They smell like the Jags. What if the Texans keep
- 9:06Speaker 7: playing well?
- 9:07Speaker 4: You know, I mean you think that the Texans can
- 9:10Speaker 4: be the AFC champs. Why not because they're not good enough.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I don't know, there's seven and five. They only have one,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you know, a couple uh more losses than the teams
- 9:20Speaker 1: that are at the top.
- 9:21Speaker 4: That's that's a lot.
- 9:22Speaker 8: The tank tell got hurt too, so that's coming.
- 9:24Speaker 4: But that's two games. That's a big difference.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're underestimating.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Like I think there are a lot of good teams.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I think they were very similar to every other year.
- 9:32Speaker 4: There were a lot of good teams. There's only a
- 9:34Speaker 4: couple of ones that that are capable of winning.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're not estimating how how much these
- 9:41Speaker 1: you know, the best teams like the Chiefs can be beat.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And how you know how much the text team like
- 9:47Speaker 1: the Texans has improved.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I agree with I think the Texans, I mean improved,
- 9:51Speaker 4: but I don't think they're a threat to anybody now.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I don't either.
- 9:53Speaker 7: I just think I think to Fred's point, I mean,
- 9:55Speaker 7: I guess, really what what I would say? I think
- 9:57Speaker 7: I don't want to put boards in your mouth face.
- 9:58Speaker 7: It's kind of wide open between those three teams because
- 10:00Speaker 7: they've all kind of had stumbles and you know, like
- 10:02Speaker 7: they just none of them right now were looking like
- 10:04Speaker 7: they're going to be a fourteen and three or you know, fifty,
- 10:06Speaker 7: those kind of teams, Like they they have some warts,
- 10:08Speaker 7: they've had some missteps.
- 10:10Speaker 8: It's kind of be just add some intrigue.
- 10:11Speaker 7: I think to me of who gets that number one, see,
- 10:13Speaker 7: because I think if Miami, you know, is able to
- 10:15Speaker 7: have it, they're gonna be real tough to beat down
- 10:17Speaker 7: there in Miami.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I really like Baltimore. But at the end of the day,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I just feel like this is the same with what
- 10:23Speaker 3: when the Patriots were in their heyday or just marching
- 10:25Speaker 3: to Kansas City getting to the super Bowl again somehow
- 10:28Speaker 3: because Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the world,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and they'll just figure.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Out when the Ravens have a reasonably difficult schedule still
- 10:34Speaker 4: to come. So no, Andrews, I just look at it
- 10:36Speaker 4: as one of those three teams is gonna and I
- 10:38Speaker 4: would agree with you guys, Cincinnati is the team that's
- 10:41Speaker 4: missing that would be in that group.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I say the Bills too.
- 10:45Speaker 4: But the Bills don't have an injured quarterback.
- 10:47Speaker 1: The Bills haven't played well and right, and their six
- 10:49Speaker 1: is right.
- 10:50Speaker 4: You know, and I would put them in the situation
- 10:52Speaker 4: where that's the only one that could potentially crash the party. Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 4: there's the Bills. Yeah, And I don't even think they're
- 10:58Speaker 4: going to make the playoffs.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Right if they need to get hot, you know, it
- 11:02Speaker 1: just needs to get out of all years.
- 11:03Speaker 7: Like I've just been lamenting the last like three years,
- 11:05Speaker 7: like how did the Patriots, Like I know they got
- 11:06Speaker 7: the win game against Buffalo, but like it just always
- 11:08Speaker 7: seems like the Jets are able to like, you know,
- 11:09Speaker 7: we're able to squeak out occasional one against Josh Allen,
- 11:12Speaker 7: like this is the year that the Patriots beat the Bills.
- 11:14Speaker 7: It's That's one Thing's just bizarre.
- 11:15Speaker 4: It's like a waste.
- 11:16Speaker 9: I know.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I feel like with the Patriots right now, I feel
- 11:20Speaker 3: like I'm watching the Jets where, you know, to go
- 11:23Speaker 3: back to Fred's questions about the Patriots defense, I I
- 11:26Speaker 3: really I think that, you know, sometimes we get into
- 11:29Speaker 3: the minutia of defense in the modern NFL, and I
- 11:34Speaker 3: don't really believe that defense can be dominant anymore. I
- 11:37Speaker 3: just at least consistently, like you can have games here
- 11:40Speaker 3: and there where you shut teams out or shut a
- 11:43Speaker 3: great quarterback down, like the Patriots did on Sunday, But
- 11:46Speaker 3: for seventeen weeks, there's no such thing anymore. In my mind,
- 11:50Speaker 3: as like the eighty five Bears, like, we're not gonna
- 11:52Speaker 3: see that ever again. You just can't do it. You
- 11:54Speaker 3: can't play that way anymore. So I think the Patriots
- 11:58Speaker 3: are a good modern NFL That doesn't mean that they're flawless.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It just they're good.
- 12:04Speaker 3: They're a good modern NFL defense. And if they weren't
- 12:07Speaker 3: strapped with the worst offense in the NFL, and I
- 12:10Speaker 3: think the Patriots would have been on that graphic that
- 12:12Speaker 3: NFL network was just showing, not as a team that's
- 12:15Speaker 3: in a division leader position, but in the hunt in
- 12:18Speaker 3: the lurking category or the alive category.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Six and six is more than reasonable if they had
- 12:24Speaker 4: any semblance.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Of an offense, right and they just they are so
- 12:28Speaker 3: so bad on offense, and it just it's to the
- 12:32Speaker 3: point where now I'm saying to myself, just like I
- 12:34Speaker 3: did last year, this is not a functioning NFL offense.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It's not a functioning NFL offense. It's not a professional
- 12:42Speaker 3: product that they're putting on film every week offensively, and
- 12:46Speaker 3: that is why they're in the position that they're in.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Did you hear the cut from Zoe that they were
- 12:51Speaker 1: playing I think on your show. You know, he was
- 12:54Speaker 1: just lamenting I guess Atlant run, yeah, screen, handoff screen,
- 12:59Speaker 1: slam bubble, you know.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Throw a go ro out, you know, But that because
- 13:03Speaker 3: that's all they can.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Do, right right, That's it. I was just gonna say,
- 13:07Speaker 1: that's really all they think they can do.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Which is just I don't even know what to make
- 13:12Speaker 3: of that, because in some ways, like Okay, I get
- 13:15Speaker 3: the personnel is completely stripped down, but isn't that more
- 13:19Speaker 3: reason to try to dress it up? But you're you're
- 13:21Speaker 3: running this offense that is archaic to begin with. The
- 13:24Speaker 3: fact that they're pushing it down the field as a
- 13:26Speaker 3: jump ball to Devonte Parker in twenty twenty three is
- 13:29Speaker 3: a problem. But there's just not a lot of design
- 13:33Speaker 3: going on either.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I got so frustrated last night. I'm watching the game,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you know, the Bengals game, and of course burrows out
- 13:41Speaker 1: and they've got this Browning whoever's in and he looks
- 13:44Speaker 1: like a professional NFL quarterback. He's he's throwing on the move.
- 13:48Speaker 1: They've got guys in motion, you know. There there there's
- 13:52Speaker 1: like some misdirection in the backfield.
- 13:54Speaker 4: They did a great job with him last night. The
- 13:56Speaker 4: only thing I would say is he didn't look like
- 13:58Speaker 4: a functioning quarterback in his first game.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Well, all I saw was last night.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Yeah no, no, no, no, Fred. I watched almost start to
- 14:07Speaker 4: finish that game last night, and he was tremendous. The
- 14:09Speaker 4: offense itself was tremendous had Jacksonville possible. They had Jacksonville
- 14:14Speaker 4: on their heels the whole game. And I would say
- 14:18Speaker 4: Jacksonville played defense the way every team has played the
- 14:21Speaker 4: Patriots this year, and they just said we don't respect you,
- 14:25Speaker 4: and we're gonna do this, this and this, and they
- 14:28Speaker 4: couldn't stop anything. I mean, jackson was like fourth in
- 14:30Speaker 4: the league in run defense and they got gashed all night,
- 14:33Speaker 4: which allowed him to do a lot of these misdirection
- 14:36Speaker 4: throws that Fred's talking about. And you know, the difference
- 14:40Speaker 4: is obvious. Joe Mixon, Jamar Chase Tyler, Boyd T Higgins,
- 14:46Speaker 4: that's the difference.
- 14:48Speaker 1: It is a difference. But I guess The main thing
- 14:50Speaker 1: I want to say is they tried the misdirection stuff.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Like they were trying stuff and maybe he wasn't able,
- 14:56Speaker 1: you know, wouldn't have been able to execute it. But
- 14:58Speaker 1: their game plan going in was we're gonna try all
- 15:01Speaker 1: this stuff here.
- 15:02Speaker 3: They weren't try I was talking to Deuce about this
- 15:05Speaker 3: before they were so stripped down at one point offensively
- 15:09Speaker 3: that Bill O'Brien was calling plays from the sideline college style,
- 15:13Speaker 3: So Bailey Zappi was coming to the line of scrimmage
- 15:15Speaker 3: with like twenty twenty five seconds to go on the
- 15:17Speaker 3: play clock, looking and then looking at like he was
- 15:21Speaker 3: freaking Michael Pennix in the PAC twelve Championship game. I've
- 15:24Speaker 3: never seen anything like that at an NFL offense, Like
- 15:27Speaker 3: where are we going to get the freaking boards next?
- 15:29Speaker 3: And hold up the signals and all that kind of stuff.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We giants doing that that is with the.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Heads, That is just absolutely that's that's elementary. And so
- 15:39Speaker 3: all this misdirection motion, all this type of stuff, like,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I just don't think that they're capable of Zappi running
- 15:46Speaker 3: it right now, which which I think begs the question
- 15:49Speaker 3: of what I understand. I was in the school that
- 15:52Speaker 3: they had to shut Mac Jones down. But if Bailey
- 15:55Speaker 3: Zappi looks like he did on Sunday again on Thursday night,
- 15:58Speaker 3: then I would start to think about going back to
- 16:00Speaker 3: Mac honestly and seeing what if a couple of weeks
- 16:04Speaker 3: off have reset him mentally and if he can play
- 16:07Speaker 3: a little bit better like he did earlier in the season,
- 16:09Speaker 3: because it's not all on Zappy the same way it
- 16:12Speaker 3: wasn't all on Mac, but it was clearly no better,
- 16:16Speaker 3: if potentially in some ways worse than what it was
- 16:20Speaker 3: with Mac Jones at times. So it just their offense
- 16:24Speaker 3: is they need to blow the whole thing up, and
- 16:25Speaker 3: then when you really start to think about what pieces
- 16:28Speaker 3: do they really have to build with moving forward, it
- 16:31Speaker 3: gets pretty dark. Like David Andrews if he doesn't retire
- 16:35Speaker 3: Ormandra Stevenson for one more year. I guess you probably
- 16:40Speaker 3: like on when you win Hunter Henry, but you have
- 16:42Speaker 3: to bring those guys back in free agency when you look.
- 16:44Speaker 1: At you know who's up, you know whose contracts are.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I mean, next year is going to be a completely
- 16:51Speaker 1: different looking team in a lot of areas.
- 16:53Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, well that's what I wonder because you know,
- 16:56Speaker 7: like with the defense that you know, there are a
- 16:57Speaker 7: lot of guys under contract next year, not you know,
- 16:59Speaker 7: I'm not naive. I understand that doesn't necessarily mean that
- 17:02Speaker 7: they'll be back, and certainly if there's a coaching change,
- 17:04Speaker 7: it even.
- 17:05Speaker 8: More so means that.
- 17:06Speaker 7: But you know, it's like part of me was wondering
- 17:09Speaker 7: and you know, workshopping it of like you know, if
- 17:11Speaker 7: if if Bill was back next year, you could focus
- 17:14Speaker 7: a lot of just assets on the offense, you know,
- 17:16Speaker 7: and and you really could probably have some good feelings
- 17:20Speaker 7: about the defense. I'm not like suggesting that this should
- 17:22Speaker 7: be the case, but I don't know. I just I'm
- 17:25Speaker 7: curious your thoughts on Thornton too from this game, because
- 17:29Speaker 7: like he just showed finally showed some speed for the
- 17:31Speaker 7: first time. I felt like, like, finally he looks like
- 17:34Speaker 7: the one guy on this team with the absence of
- 17:36Speaker 7: Douglas that can move at a level that is that
- 17:39Speaker 7: that that is a threat.
- 17:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 17:41Speaker 7: I just am so tired of watching Parker and Juju
- 17:44Speaker 7: and it's just everything takes forever and guys, like you said,
- 17:47Speaker 7: like Paul's point, like they just set a pick effects
- 17:50Speaker 7: pick offence at the at the first down line.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Like what are you gonna do? Like, what are you
- 17:54Speaker 1: gonna do?
- 17:56Speaker 4: On Sunday, Evon was pointing out these plays where ten
- 17:59Speaker 4: guys were literally within five yards of the ball, like,
- 18:02Speaker 4: and I'm talking about back in to the sides, like
- 18:05Speaker 4: everything is within the box.
- 18:08Speaker 7: The other thing to Evan and I don't know if
- 18:09Speaker 7: you agree with me on this is this one. You know,
- 18:12Speaker 7: I just feel like they don't even use Thornton right, Like,
- 18:14Speaker 7: I don't want to say that I think Thornton's a
- 18:15Speaker 7: good player, but I do think that with certain plays
- 18:18Speaker 7: getting him in space, like.
- 18:20Speaker 8: There could be something there to produce.
- 18:22Speaker 7: And I mean the the you know, the drop slash overthrow,
- 18:24Speaker 7: whatever we want to call it. You know a little
- 18:26Speaker 7: bit of a of a of a sample of that.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 18:29Speaker 7: There was one particular third down and I'm sorry I
- 18:31Speaker 7: should write these things down. I think it was a
- 18:33Speaker 7: third and short and they and I think it might
- 18:35Speaker 7: have been an RPO because they had they had Thornton
- 18:38Speaker 7: come back around in a little bit reverse motion going
- 18:40Speaker 7: out and so to that side he had just him
- 18:42Speaker 7: and another guy on three and I was like, that's
- 18:44Speaker 7: the throw.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And I think he got blown up in the backfield
- 18:46Speaker 1: on this one, I think, and.
- 18:49Speaker 4: They had a couple of those they had they were
- 18:51Speaker 4: setting They was certainly setting something up with him sort of.
- 18:54Speaker 3: They were setting something up. The first motion that they
- 18:56Speaker 3: never called. We call that boomerang yeah yeah, boomerang back yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 3: which I mean what you know.
- 19:02Speaker 7: One thought, I was like, I don't know what the
- 19:03Speaker 7: miscommunication was between Andrews and Strange because the defensive tackle
- 19:07Speaker 7: just came right.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Yeah, So yeah, bab I always, I said this last week.
- 19:12Speaker 3: I think I always operate under the assumption that David
- 19:15Speaker 3: Andrews is correct, So.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Like he's leaving it to Strange.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Strange, So it was I think it was supposed to
- 19:20Speaker 3: be pin poll and Strange never pinned. So Andrews pulls
- 19:25Speaker 3: out in front of him on the sweep and Strangers
- 19:27Speaker 3: supposed to pin his guy inside and Strange never pinned.
- 19:30Speaker 3: So that's how you.
- 19:31Speaker 7: But I mean, just to bring the point home, like
- 19:34Speaker 7: on that play, I was like, throw the Thornt in there,
- 19:36Speaker 7: like he's got a little bit of space, Like you know,
- 19:39Speaker 7: he's the only guy on this team that can move.
- 19:41Speaker 7: You know, when you're I think you're two on three
- 19:43Speaker 7: on the backside, so I mean, you have a little
- 19:44Speaker 7: bit of numbers to work with.
- 19:46Speaker 8: I don't know, it's just.
- 19:47Speaker 3: They call those advantage throws, so they're actually more like
- 19:50Speaker 3: a pre snap reed of like leverage and numbers based
- 19:53Speaker 3: off of just what the quarterback's looking at, so it's
- 19:55Speaker 3: not like a full fledged RP.
- 19:57Speaker 1: They call it. Who are you talking about, Bill O'Brien, Okay, yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 1: how do you know?
- 20:02Speaker 3: He told me?
- 20:02Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'm just wondering because I know every team
- 20:04Speaker 1: has their own Lexico.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, yeah. I asked him a while
- 20:08Speaker 3: ago about the fact that pretty much every RPO that
- 20:12Speaker 3: they run is a run, like they never throw them,
- 20:14Speaker 3: and it just drives me nuts because of the reasons
- 20:17Speaker 3: that Mike is saying. It's like, you have the numbers
- 20:19Speaker 3: over here, and he you know, he's so he tells
- 20:21Speaker 3: me that they're they're called advantage throws at least here.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Some police call them different things. But uh, it's a
- 20:27Speaker 3: pre snap read, so you're not reading the defensive movement
- 20:31Speaker 3: post snap and then making it reading a player and
- 20:33Speaker 3: then making a decision based off that read. And I think,
- 20:37Speaker 3: when in doubt, handed off is kind of the mantra
- 20:40Speaker 3: in the locker room on those. And so if you're
- 20:43Speaker 3: not like one hundred and sure that that throw is
- 20:46Speaker 3: going to work, then your coach to just hand the
- 20:49Speaker 3: ball off, you know, So it's it's basically a run.
- 20:52Speaker 7: It's also was it the first third down that they
- 20:54Speaker 7: threw like just a little screen to the left side
- 20:56Speaker 7: to Parker who couldn't even get past the first block.
- 21:00Speaker 7: It's just like, why are we throwing that to Parker?
- 21:02Speaker 7: Like throw it to Thornton.
- 21:04Speaker 1: But you know, going back to what you know, Zoe's
- 21:06Speaker 1: lament during the game is we're easy to defend again,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you know, like if you're gonna have ten guys in
- 21:14Speaker 1: the box question, you gotta try something. You gotta go
- 21:17Speaker 1: over you gotta do something to get over that to
- 21:21Speaker 1: make them honest. But we just can't. And then when
- 21:23Speaker 1: we try, you know, it goes right through Thornton's hands.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Or it's too fifty to fifty, which is more like
- 21:30Speaker 3: twenty eighty these days, to Devonte Parker. And you know,
- 21:33Speaker 3: he went one for five on those deep shots. And
- 21:35Speaker 3: I thought some of them are some some spotty decision
- 21:38Speaker 3: making by Zappi just trying to throw it up to
- 21:41Speaker 3: Parker and make something happen. But with Thornton, I no
- 21:45Speaker 3: one is saying that Thorton would be a thousand yard
- 21:47Speaker 3: receiver someplace else if he was drafted by another team.
- 21:51Speaker 3: He has clear issues, route running issues, ball skills, things
- 21:55Speaker 3: like that. I just wish for him and I wish
- 21:58Speaker 3: for the like what would have happened if he was
- 22:00Speaker 3: coach correctly when he got here, And what would happen
- 22:02Speaker 3: if he was used correctly with his speed within the
- 22:05Speaker 3: framework of the offense. Would he be a useful deep threat?
- 22:11Speaker 3: Not again not saying that he would be a fifteen
- 22:14Speaker 3: hundred yard receiver, but would he be a functioning NFL
- 22:17Speaker 3: deep threat. It just seems like he has never improved.
- 22:21Speaker 3: And this is another thing that I get on Troy
- 22:23Speaker 3: Brown about, like how is this guy making He's clearly
- 22:27Speaker 3: talented enough to get open. He's got the speed, and
- 22:29Speaker 3: he's got the ability to get open at the NFL level.
- 22:32Speaker 3: He was opened at least half a dozen times in
- 22:35Speaker 3: this game on Sunday, But they just can't seem to
- 22:38Speaker 3: get him to be able to well catch the ball,
- 22:41Speaker 3: which would be a good start. But also, you know,
- 22:44Speaker 3: the some of the route running is just robotic and
- 22:47Speaker 3: stiff at the top of the route, and it's like, why,
- 22:50Speaker 3: where's the coaching where? How are we improving guys? How
- 22:54Speaker 3: are we working with guys to improve their technique. I
- 22:57Speaker 3: can't help but think with Thornton, if he was in
- 23:00Speaker 3: Kansas City with that coaching staff, in that system, with
- 23:03Speaker 3: that quarterback, would he be Marquez Valdez scantling for the
- 23:07Speaker 3: Chiefs because he it very well could be like it
- 23:10Speaker 3: looks like that.
- 23:10Speaker 7: They're trying to throw it to him like off the
- 23:12Speaker 7: break so many times and it's just he gathers himself.
- 23:14Speaker 7: He's got a bunch of stutter steps. He's tall, so
- 23:17Speaker 7: he doesn't you know, he just doesn't have that quickness.
- 23:19Speaker 7: But I mean, for me, that was just an example
- 23:21Speaker 7: of a play where he's in space. He's got a
- 23:23Speaker 7: little bit of motion. He doesn't have to stop and
- 23:25Speaker 7: cut and lose all his momentum, you know, just like
- 23:28Speaker 7: I don't know that that really I think to me
- 23:30Speaker 7: watching this and maybe it's stupid, it's just like this
- 23:32Speaker 7: is where I'm like, how coordinated is this offense? Like
- 23:35Speaker 7: how much are they are they are their hands tied
- 23:37Speaker 7: because of who they have or are they just not.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Putting enough sticking on the offensive side of the ball. Again,
- 23:43Speaker 1: Paul shows the new man on your show is you
- 23:48Speaker 1: don't have to have a top quarterback of the top five.
- 23:51Speaker 4: That's just Felger's matra.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Well, it's they're agreeing with it.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been on the show and.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yesterday. I mean, they are coming around to it.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yeah. Check the twenty twenty draft. How'd that go? You know,
- 24:05Speaker 4: but at the top of that draft go quarterback wise.
- 24:07Speaker 1: But as far you know, it's true in terms of
- 24:10Speaker 1: winning the Super Bowl, the only you know, top quarterback,
- 24:14Speaker 1: you know, top number one overall that's done it since
- 24:18Speaker 1: the last twenty something years is Manning. You know.
- 24:23Speaker 4: That's the stupidest argument I ever.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I know, But that's it's a Felger fact.
- 24:28Speaker 4: If you can't stupid out of the what so if
- 24:31Speaker 4: a guy has picked third and he wins the title,
- 24:33Speaker 4: it doesn't matter because he wasn't picked first.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Well, the stat that I heard, I think was like
- 24:37Speaker 3: top five quarterbacks and it's like the Mannings and that's it.
- 24:40Speaker 4: In the last one of the.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Reasons, well, Brady took up so many of these about
- 24:44Speaker 1: that's my point, right, there's been what I'm just facilitating.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm just saying what this is, what's happening now.
- 24:53Speaker 3: But there's like fifty four super Bowls right around fifty four.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I always lose track on fifty four. Brady's won seven
- 24:59Speaker 3: of them, that's right, and gone to nine and then
- 25:02Speaker 3: everybody you know to ten, Eli's one two, Roethlisberger's won two,
- 25:06Speaker 3: Peyton's one two. So when you really start to factor
- 25:08Speaker 3: how many quarterbacks have actually won a Super Bowl.
- 25:11Speaker 1: That's then it's how many have they gone to which
- 25:14Speaker 1: stopped another quarterback from even.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Having And that's the sample size we're going with. But
- 25:17Speaker 3: he's like the forty quarterbacks in NFL history that have
- 25:20Speaker 3: won a Super Bowl.
- 25:21Speaker 4: And if you're going to base it on that on
- 25:25Speaker 4: based on that data, then you should be targeting a
- 25:28Speaker 4: quarterback in the late sixth round because that's how you
- 25:31Speaker 4: win titles. Or there's not a correlation that should be
- 25:37Speaker 4: drawn from spot where a guy is drafted to titles,
- 25:41Speaker 4: like you have to pick good players. If you get
- 25:44Speaker 4: a good player, like should should should a team that
- 25:47Speaker 4: picked somebody who you know, should Cincinnati be looking at
- 25:51Speaker 4: with laments that they took Joe Burrow because he hasn't
- 25:53Speaker 4: won a title, and maybe he never will.
- 25:55Speaker 1: I'm just telling you, Paul, this is what's coming. Your
- 25:58Speaker 1: guy has a lot of fluents, and it's.
- 26:01Speaker 4: And this is like our argument from the post game
- 26:04Speaker 4: show the other day.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I don't want it.
- 26:05Speaker 4: It's growing because somehow people are convincing themselves that Caleb
- 26:09Speaker 4: Williams is not the guy because he cried.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I don't want to be that he cried. I don't
- 26:14Speaker 1: want to be that team with the top pick because
- 26:17Speaker 1: usually that team's a disaster.
- 26:19Speaker 4: So I don't want to be That's a different argument.
- 26:21Speaker 4: If you are that team, then what do you do.
- 26:22Speaker 4: I know they are a disaster. His team is a disaster.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I don't want to be picking number one overall. Ever,
- 26:29Speaker 4: I agree, but that's where we find it.
- 26:32Speaker 7: So are they saying trade down or are they saying
- 26:34Speaker 7: take a different position?
- 26:35Speaker 4: I trying to not as important.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I think I don't want to put words in Paul's
- 26:40Speaker 1: guy's mouth, but I think he's saying it's not as
- 26:43Speaker 1: it's obviously not as slam dunk as you think it is,
- 26:46Speaker 1: and it's not.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Nobody thinks that's a slam dunk, and it's a Felger argument.
- 26:49Speaker 4: It's the ultimate straw.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's not as important as you think it is.
- 26:54Speaker 4: It's more important than you think it is, but it's
- 26:57Speaker 4: not a sure thing. No one ever says it is.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Understand how we could go from elite quarterback. Forget about
- 27:03Speaker 3: where he was Brady was drafted. Just you saw what
- 27:06Speaker 3: it looked like with Brady, and you see what it
- 27:08Speaker 3: looks like without elite quarterback, and now the quarterback is
- 27:10Speaker 3: not important.
- 27:11Speaker 4: And I do think there's part of this mentality stems
- 27:15Speaker 4: from the fact that people think you can get it
- 27:17Speaker 4: because they got it in the sixth round with Brady,
- 27:20Speaker 4: and that that will happen again, right.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I mean it's party. There's Jalen Hurts, you know, like
- 27:24Speaker 3: there's now there's more recent examples.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Jordan in the low twenties.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think the biggest first round. Yeah, you
- 27:31Speaker 3: look at all those all those guys, and this is
- 27:34Speaker 3: what I you know, it's true that this offense is
- 27:38Speaker 3: way more than just a quarterback away. They're way more
- 27:41Speaker 3: than just a quarterback away. I I think offensive line wise,
- 27:45Speaker 3: they're probably one tackle away from being a functional offensive
- 27:50Speaker 3: line with a quarterback that knows what he's doing back there.
- 27:52Speaker 3: But receiver wise, they they are completely like, that's the
- 27:57Speaker 3: reason why Jake Browning can go into that game and
- 27:59Speaker 3: throw over three hundred and fifty yards like the Bengals
- 28:02Speaker 3: offense last night scored more points than the Patriots have
- 28:04Speaker 3: scored in four weeks.
- 28:06Speaker 4: And I will say this, if Cincinnati now closes the
- 28:09Speaker 4: season playing offense the way they did last night, I
- 28:12Speaker 4: will say, with Jake Browning obviously playing all the games, Okay,
- 28:17Speaker 4: there's a guy who's you know, clearly a little bit
- 28:20Speaker 4: better than that. I think last night it was a
- 28:23Speaker 4: combination of a really really good game plan and the
- 28:29Speaker 4: weapons around him. And I think that quite frankly, the
- 28:33Speaker 4: Jags were asleep defensively. It was a terrible performance by
- 28:36Speaker 4: the Jacksonville defense all night. Now, if he does it
- 28:40Speaker 4: week after week like brock Perty's been doing, then maybe
- 28:43Speaker 4: I'll take a step back and say, maybe he has
- 28:45Speaker 4: more to do it than I thought. But the numbers,
- 28:49Speaker 4: and I have these numbers all the time, Okay, it
- 28:51Speaker 4: carries them with them, I don't. I have it all
- 28:54Speaker 4: printed out. And this is just in the last ten years.
- 28:59Speaker 4: If you want a really good quarterback, the percentages are bad,
- 29:05Speaker 4: like no matter how you slice it. But if you
- 29:07Speaker 4: take him in the top ten. Nine out of twenty
- 29:12Speaker 4: five over the last ten years, I would say have
- 29:15Speaker 4: panned out. Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Tua, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen,
- 29:19Speaker 4: Patrick Mahome. These are the guys that I'm counting as hits. Okay.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Some of the guys that I'm counting as missus, by
- 29:25Speaker 4: the way, are Kyler Murray, Oh Daniels.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Those are fighting words for me.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Evan. I agree. I'm fending over backwards to not include
- 29:33Speaker 4: these guys.
- 29:34Speaker 1: That makes his point.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I agree with you, Evan. I would take Kyler Murray
- 29:37Speaker 4: in a heartbeat the people. But I'm not counting those
- 29:41Speaker 4: as many as hits. So now I did bottom of
- 29:45Speaker 4: the first round. After the top ten, I'm so on
- 29:48Speaker 4: this counts guys like Deshaun Watson, who was twelve. Okay,
- 29:53Speaker 4: So I'm just going after the top ten in the
- 29:56Speaker 4: first round all other rounds, and I'm not counting every
- 29:59Speaker 4: quarterback that got taken because that would skew the number. Obviously,
- 30:03Speaker 4: people take flyers on fifth and sixth ands. I'm not
- 30:05Speaker 4: counting them. I'm talking only about guys who have made
- 30:08Speaker 4: the NFL for any length of time. It's nine for
- 30:12Speaker 4: twenty five for the top ten. It's ten of forty
- 30:15Speaker 4: four for the blast half in beyond. So there's a
- 30:19Speaker 4: million more opportunities for the guys not taken in the
- 30:23Speaker 4: top ten that there's a finite number in the top ten. Literally,
- 30:26Speaker 4: there's a million guys that I'm not including ten. So
- 30:30Speaker 4: it's twenty three percent if you don't If you don't
- 30:32Speaker 4: do it early, you got a twenty three percent. If
- 30:34Speaker 4: you do it early, you got a thirty six percent
- 30:36Speaker 4: chance of hitting. And again, Evan would argue that thirty
- 30:40Speaker 4: six percent should be higher because he would include guys
- 30:43Speaker 4: that I didn't Just to try to be overly fair, right,
- 30:46Speaker 4: just trying to be faia fail. Okay, the bottom half
- 30:50Speaker 4: of the first round guys Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Kyle Trattz,
- 30:53Speaker 4: Kellen Mond, Davis Mills, Jordan Love. Now, Jordan Love might
- 30:57Speaker 4: turn into a hit, so that could could rise by one.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts as a hit, Lamar Jackson's a hit, Watson,
- 31:05Speaker 4: Dak Prescott, Derek Carr. Again, I'm trying to be fair.
- 31:10Speaker 4: If there's guys on the edge of hitting, I'm counting
- 31:13Speaker 4: Derek Carver. We're not cutting Kyler, Thank you, Evan. I'm
- 31:17Speaker 4: just trying to show you how fair I'm trying to
- 31:19Speaker 4: be here. Okay, I'm counting guys like Derek Carr and
- 31:22Speaker 4: Jimmy Garoppolo as hits. I'm counting guys like Daniel Jones
- 31:25Speaker 4: and Kyler Murray as missus. Yeah, Dan Jonson, I'm trying
- 31:28Speaker 4: to be really real, but I'm trying to be over
- 31:31Speaker 4: the top fair when I'm doing this. Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson,
- 31:35Speaker 4: Andy Dalton. I counted as a hit. Colin Kaepernick, I
- 31:39Speaker 4: counted as a hit. So if there was a sniff
- 31:41Speaker 4: of success for a guy, I counted as a hit,
- 31:44Speaker 4: whereas the other way you had to be really over
- 31:46Speaker 4: the top good for me to count it as a hit.
- 31:48Speaker 4: And it's still a better percentage in the top ten.
- 31:51Speaker 4: So again, there's a million misses. There's a lot of
- 31:54Speaker 4: guys that miss Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, there's a lot
- 31:57Speaker 4: of guys, Zach Wilson. It's hard. Yeah, it's hard to
- 32:01Speaker 4: get it right, but you're making it harder if you wait.
- 32:04Speaker 4: This is the part that people don't talk about. It
- 32:06Speaker 4: gets harder the longer you wait.
- 32:09Speaker 7: I just don't think it's if you're picking second overall,
- 32:12Speaker 7: especially if you're coming off a two to three win season,
- 32:15Speaker 7: you need to kind of have a new guy, like
- 32:17Speaker 7: when they march bled Sell in here, you know, and
- 32:19Speaker 7: it's like, all right, this is the new face of
- 32:21Speaker 7: the franchise. I mean, I don't know what's gonna happen
- 32:23Speaker 7: with the coaching staff, front office, all that stuff, but.
- 32:25Speaker 8: Like this team needs that.
- 32:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 32:27Speaker 7: It's hard for me to see if you're picking in
- 32:29Speaker 7: the top two not taking one of those top two guys.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I look at the it's a really good quarterback
- 32:36Speaker 3: class in terms of depth at the top, and it's
- 32:38Speaker 3: a really good receiver class in terms of depth at
- 32:40Speaker 3: the top as well. I mean, Marvin Harrison Junior is
- 32:42Speaker 3: the prize, but like Romadunza is really good. Neighbors from
- 32:46Speaker 3: LSU is going to be really high prospect, key On
- 32:48Speaker 3: Coleman from Florida State. Like, there's going to be at
- 32:51Speaker 3: least a handful of first round top forty receivers taken.
- 32:55Speaker 3: But I just feel like all of us, and maybe
- 32:58Speaker 3: I'm just speaking for myself, but the coming away from
- 33:03Speaker 3: that draft, because you don't just have the second or
- 33:05Speaker 3: the third overall pick. You also have the thirty fifth
- 33:07Speaker 3: or the thirty fourth overall pick too. Coming out of
- 33:10Speaker 3: that draft with a quarterback and a number one receiver
- 33:13Speaker 3: at least in theory and saying this is our like
- 33:16Speaker 3: these two guys were building around these two guys offensively
- 33:19Speaker 3: for the next five to ten years. That's that's what
- 33:23Speaker 3: I would want to see. Regards you still add in
- 33:26Speaker 3: in the free agent market too, like in the veteran
- 33:28Speaker 3: market also. But if you came away from this draft
- 33:31Speaker 3: with you know, just to be realistic, because I don't
- 33:35Speaker 3: think it's that realistic with the Dunesay and Marvin Harrison Junior.
- 33:38Speaker 3: But if you came away with this from this draft,
- 33:40Speaker 3: with Caleb Williams and neighbors from LSU, like now you're
- 33:44Speaker 3: you are are Xavier Worthy from Texas, Like now you
- 33:46Speaker 3: have a nucleus like a building block right now offensively,
- 33:50Speaker 3: they don't have They don't have that. They don't have
- 33:53Speaker 3: any building blocks on the offensive side of the ball.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Besides maybe Ramandra Stevenson.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I saw someone had neighbors in the top beat the
- 34:00Speaker 4: other day.
- 34:01Speaker 1: He's a good prospect.
- 34:02Speaker 4: No, I like him a lot. Just to wrap the
- 34:06Speaker 4: bow on the whole Felger and maz portion of this,
- 34:10Speaker 4: the reason why they're so adamant about this and I
- 34:12Speaker 4: and I'm convinced of it. I tease them about it
- 34:14Speaker 4: every week and we joke around and we laugh. They
- 34:17Speaker 4: think everybody sucks and I'm not. I'm not exaggerating. And
- 34:20Speaker 4: Tony is at the top of the list. He sucks, Mike,
- 34:22Speaker 4: every single guy stinks. They don't except for the guy
- 34:26Speaker 4: who wins it all. If you don't win it all,
- 34:28Speaker 4: you suck.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Then why does he like Jimmy Garroch.
- 34:32Speaker 4: He's he's solid on that. He's now like so now
- 34:36Speaker 4: he'll also go down with the ship and say, well,
- 34:37Speaker 4: if he didn't leave, he'd still like forget it. I'm
- 34:39Speaker 4: not even gonna argue that. But Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes,
- 34:44Speaker 4: those are the guys that they think can play like
- 34:47Speaker 4: I'm telling you, you'd get pushed back on Justin Herbert,
- 34:50Speaker 4: you'd get pushed back on Tua, You'd get pushed back
- 34:52Speaker 4: on on they like Burrow. They like Burrow, they get
- 34:56Speaker 4: you get pushed back on on on Josh Jallen, Oh Lamar.
- 35:02Speaker 4: They think can't play at all, Like you can't even
- 35:04Speaker 4: talk to them about Lamar, like they think every single
- 35:07Speaker 4: guy in the league sucks if they didn't win the title,
- 35:11Speaker 4: and that's just the way it is, Like there's no
- 35:14Speaker 4: there's no getting him off.
- 35:15Speaker 3: They're not alone on it. So I feel like because
- 35:18Speaker 3: he plays for the Chargers and because he plays out
- 35:20Speaker 3: West Patriots stands And I'm not like picking on fans
- 35:23Speaker 3: for this, but they only watched Justin Herbert play the Patriots,
- 35:26Speaker 3: and I don't know you.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Could have watched the game on Sunday and came away
- 35:28Speaker 4: with anything but being impressed with that.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Quarterback right in three games against the Patriots. Though the
- 35:33Speaker 3: production has not been.
- 35:34Speaker 4: The production wasn't great, but the throws were. He had
- 35:37Speaker 4: two bad throws in the whole game that I think
- 35:39Speaker 4: he was not on the same page with his receiver.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Every other incompletion was either a really good defensive play
- 35:45Speaker 4: by like Jonathan Jones or Mills, or a guy dropped it.
- 35:49Speaker 4: And they had some big plays that were dropped. Yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know how you could play much
- 35:53Speaker 4: better in those conditions.
- 35:54Speaker 3: With with what the he had to throw to ye,
- 35:57Speaker 3: even the throw that that walked it off like that
- 36:01Speaker 3: end of the game. I mean, you know everybody picks
- 36:04Speaker 3: on Miles Bryant, but Myles Bryant is is step for
- 36:07Speaker 3: step with the receiver for most of the play, and
- 36:10Speaker 3: Herbert just puts it on an absolute perfect spot.
- 36:13Speaker 4: And the only difference between that and half the other
- 36:15Speaker 4: places that guy caught it right. Yeah, and he must
- 36:18Speaker 4: have looked at it and said, I don't want anybody
- 36:19Speaker 4: else on the field. It's either gonna be Keenan Allen
- 36:21Speaker 4: or I want someone new because I'm tired of Partim
- 36:23Speaker 4: dropping him. I'm tired of Johnston dropping him. I'm gonna
- 36:26Speaker 4: throw it to this guy. Was it?
- 36:27Speaker 3: Ericson Alexarrickson?
- 36:31Speaker 4: Like, I think Herbert's pretty good? Now? Does he have
- 36:34Speaker 4: the winning quotient like to win it all? Maybe he doesn't,
- 36:37Speaker 4: because he does find a way to lose a lot
- 36:38Speaker 4: of games that like, you look and you say, how
- 36:41Speaker 4: did they not win that? Whereas I think Burrow does
- 36:43Speaker 4: have the winning quotient.
- 36:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 1: So, right now, as we stand, the Patriots have the
- 36:49Speaker 1: number two overall pick. And I've heard some people say
- 36:54Speaker 1: this is a quarterback heavy draft and other people say
- 36:56Speaker 1: it isn't.
- 36:58Speaker 3: He says it isn't.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Well, this is my point.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I'm telling you. People are saying that, but you can.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Get anybody to say anything. It's a quarterback heavy draft,
- 37:06Speaker 4: whether you want that guy or not. That's what I do.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I've heard. You know, Caleb Williams talent is undeniable, but
- 37:12Speaker 1: there's the other stuff. And then everybody else has flaws.
- 37:16Speaker 7: Everybody else welcome to everybody kind of has doesn't a flaw.
- 37:21Speaker 7: And I haven't really jumped into any of this yet,
- 37:22Speaker 7: but I mean the little bit that I have watched
- 37:24Speaker 7: of May and Williams, it was like, yeah, I mean
- 37:26Speaker 7: they've got skill, and I mean I'm with you one
- 37:28Speaker 7: hundred percent on Williams. I mean, just you know, the
- 37:30Speaker 7: ability lay in the down to make crazy plays they have.
- 37:34Speaker 4: You know, Tom Brady can't run. That's a flaw. Like
- 37:37Speaker 4: he's the greatest player who's ever played the position. Everybody
- 37:40Speaker 4: has flaws.
- 37:41Speaker 3: There's there. This class has four quarterbacks at the top
- 37:45Speaker 3: that are as good as prospects at the top as
- 37:47Speaker 3: you're going to find. I mean, Caleb Williams, Drake May, Pennix,
- 37:51Speaker 3: and Jaden Daniels are all first round caliber quarterbacks.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Like lock it in today, where the guys picked last
- 37:57Speaker 1: year first round.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Caliber trying to remember the class last year.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Will No, he didn't get picked.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I look at this class as a no. One is
- 38:08Speaker 3: like a shot fire, can't miss prospect. But if you're
- 38:11Speaker 3: just looking at traits, this is up there traits wise
- 38:15Speaker 3: with the last you know, four or five.
- 38:17Speaker 4: So it's Bryce Young, CJ. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson. Those
- 38:21Speaker 4: are the top three of the top four pitch.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Of the draft.
- 38:23Speaker 3: So I think that Daniels is a better runner than
- 38:27Speaker 3: c J. Stroud, but I think he has a lot
- 38:28Speaker 3: of the same qualities as a thrower as c. J.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Stroud does and Pennix. I mean, what more does that
- 38:35Speaker 3: guy have to do to get you to like him
- 38:38Speaker 3: as a prospect. He goes, He goes toe to toe
- 38:40Speaker 3: with every single team in the Pac Twell, which has
- 38:42Speaker 3: been really good this year. By the way, Patchwell has
- 38:44Speaker 3: probably been the best conference in college football. That game
- 38:47Speaker 3: against Oregon on Friday night was terrific game, unbelievable game.
- 38:52Speaker 3: And he's just dropping, you know, deep over routes, just
- 38:55Speaker 3: dropping dimes on people.
- 38:57Speaker 4: I was impressed with both quarterbacks in that game got assaulted.
- 39:01Speaker 4: I don't like him to both tolls off the back foot,
- 39:04Speaker 4: not gonna be a good I didn't say anything about
- 39:05Speaker 4: the NFL for anything. I just said I thought both
- 39:08Speaker 4: quarterbacks played well, and I was in particular impressed with
- 39:12Speaker 4: Penix and his ability to close the game out with
- 39:15Speaker 4: the throw that Herbert made the next day, like instead
- 39:18Speaker 4: of just saying, I hope our defense can hold them, no,
- 39:21Speaker 4: I'm gonna go and get a first down so you
- 39:22Speaker 4: don't get the ball back.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no, they Penix definitely has a little bit of
- 39:26Speaker 3: that in quality of intangible stuff and is a good
- 39:29Speaker 3: leader and a winner and that kind of thing. We'll
- 39:32Speaker 3: see what it looks like in the playoff, but I
- 39:34Speaker 3: would be happy with any.
- 39:35Speaker 4: Of those for its funny, like making fun of myself aside.
- 39:38Speaker 4: I was watching the usc U c l A game
- 39:40Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, and UCLA has this edge guy. Yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 4: you know, I think it's a lot too or something
- 39:46Speaker 4: like that. Did I tell you the story was this
- 39:48Speaker 4: guy is really good. I'm like, and I never I
- 39:52Speaker 4: wasn't overly familiar with them, and I'm like, watch, I'm like,
- 39:54Speaker 4: this guy's really good. I'm gonna remember these are the
- 39:57Speaker 4: kinds of edge guys. I really like, you're supposed to
- 39:59Speaker 4: be like a top five.
- 40:00Speaker 8: Yeah, nothing, that's how I fell too.
- 40:05Speaker 7: Judge good judge of talent right here A couple of
- 40:08Speaker 7: a couple other observations to throw it to the group,
- 40:11Speaker 7: Michael and wayn you little little concerned. I think this
- 40:13Speaker 7: was a little bit of a reminder that he's not
- 40:15Speaker 7: really truly a right tackle, maybe doesn't have quite the
- 40:18Speaker 7: link in the athleticism to really be a full time
- 40:21Speaker 7: guy there against an elite kind of pass rusher. So
- 40:24Speaker 7: I don't know that performance gave me a little bit
- 40:26Speaker 7: of a pause in terms of.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Just you know.
- 40:28Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know where you guys are at
- 40:30Speaker 7: right now, and I mean right now if you asked
- 40:32Speaker 7: me today, I don't really care about resigning the Big three.
- 40:36Speaker 7: I think I don't really care for I mean, I
- 40:38Speaker 7: think Douger's fine. He's also twenty seven. Jo Bill Peppers
- 40:41Speaker 7: is one year older than Douger. I kind of feel like,
- 40:44Speaker 7: let Dougger walk, get a real free safety, puts some
- 40:46Speaker 7: speed on the back end.
- 40:49Speaker 8: I liked having his athleticism.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Was this something that was work?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Now? This is all do?
- 40:53Speaker 7: Solo made a couple of nice place Dog made a
- 40:58Speaker 7: nice couple couple nice plays and at times I was like,
- 41:00Speaker 7: it's nice to have a guy with this kind of athleticism,
- 41:03Speaker 7: especially when facing you know, an athletic quarterback like Herbert.
- 41:06Speaker 7: He ran him down a couple of times and you know,
- 41:07Speaker 7: made life like tough for him. But again, what are
- 41:10Speaker 7: you going to invest in him to? You know, I
- 41:12Speaker 7: mean he plays twenty to twenty five percent of the snaps.
- 41:14Speaker 7: It's it's hard to really say. And with him when
- 41:17Speaker 7: you it's like, I mean, City's out, not great, but okay,
- 41:20Speaker 7: and how much are we going to continue to kind
- 41:22Speaker 7: of play this game with the offensive line?
- 41:25Speaker 1: Like you know, I if.
- 41:26Speaker 7: We were investing in him at right guard, but if
- 41:27Speaker 7: you really feel like City can play right guard, yeah,
- 41:31Speaker 7: I will.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Resign if I'm convinced that he's the tackle. I don't
- 41:36Speaker 4: care about the guard.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Oh I'm resigning him either way. If you want to
- 41:40Speaker 3: make the same mistake you did with Joe Toney, then
- 41:42Speaker 3: go ahead, like if you want to let a good
- 41:43Speaker 3: offensive lineman walk out the door.
- 41:45Speaker 4: And I think the mistake with Joe Touney was wasting
- 41:47Speaker 4: money franchising.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Well, that's what and that's.
- 41:49Speaker 7: That's yeah, I mean that's where I think that the
- 41:50Speaker 7: debate is you know, and that's where where does the
- 41:52Speaker 7: money go? And you know, is it? I mean, I
- 41:55Speaker 7: don't want to say Michael when he's not good, but
- 41:57Speaker 7: is he is he just redundant? And how much of
- 41:58Speaker 7: an impact is he really going to have?
- 42:00Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 42:00Speaker 7: I just I mean, this is where I'm at right
- 42:03Speaker 7: now here week fourteen, as we sick get ready, they
- 42:05Speaker 7: need to do a.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Better job of drafting and developing. I think we all
- 42:08Speaker 4: if Bill.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Goes maybe more important then who's going to be the coaches,
- 42:13Speaker 1: who's going to be picking players? Who's heading up the ball? Well?
- 42:16Speaker 3: And I would also just say too to that, like
- 42:18Speaker 3: for who is he picking players for? Because Mike on
- 42:22Speaker 3: When who is a three hundred and forty pound guard.
- 42:24Speaker 3: If he if they're going to hire Ben Johnson to
- 42:26Speaker 3: run an outside zone offense, then he's not a fit
- 42:30Speaker 3: for that system. So it also matters in that respect too.
- 42:34Speaker 3: But I with on when Who, I'm still resigning him.
- 42:38Speaker 3: I was a little concerned that looking back at some
- 42:41Speaker 3: of the tape for the first couple starts at tackle,
- 42:43Speaker 3: they hadn't played an elite pass rusher yet, and now
- 42:47Speaker 3: he's going to get Khalil Mack who just took his
- 42:49Speaker 3: lunch money like that was probably the worst game Mike
- 42:51Speaker 3: on when who's ever played.
- 42:53Speaker 4: That's the first time I saw him consistently exposed.
- 42:56Speaker 3: He looked like Darian Lowe, like I it was that bad.
- 42:59Speaker 3: And now he's gonna get TJ. Watt this week, so
- 43:02Speaker 3: you're gonna see it in back to back weeks. How
- 43:05Speaker 3: does it look against the best of the best? I mean,
- 43:08Speaker 3: Mac is leading the league in sacks and year.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Just to end, you know, my thoughts with with the
- 43:12Speaker 4: when you like, if they resign a when you I
- 43:15Speaker 4: won't sit there and say they're wasting money. They're doing
- 43:18Speaker 4: like he's a good player. That's the kind of guy
- 43:21Speaker 4: that I think that they've been too willing to let
- 43:23Speaker 4: go guys that they draft, they developed, they've actually played well.
- 43:27Speaker 4: And I would say the same thing about Duggar. I'm
- 43:29Speaker 4: not going to be up in arms if they let
- 43:30Speaker 4: him go the way Mike said. Everything Mike said, I
- 43:32Speaker 4: would say, yeah, that makes sense, you know, like he's
- 43:35Speaker 4: you know, kind of redund kind of redundant. But if
- 43:38Speaker 4: they kept him, I think at some point you got
- 43:42Speaker 4: to keep some of your players and stop trying to.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I just wonder what it would look like with with
- 43:47Speaker 3: Dugger if you're going to keep him long term, which
- 43:50Speaker 3: I think you probably should with Dugger and Pepper's and
- 43:53Speaker 3: then like a true center fielder as the third guy
- 43:56Speaker 3: so that you can get to that Deron Harmon, Devin
- 43:59Speaker 3: Mccordya Bates last year, I don't think they ever.
- 44:04Speaker 4: We never never did. We talked about him. I know
- 44:07Speaker 4: we talked about him. I didn't remember if we had.
- 44:10Speaker 7: Actually maybe just another way to frame this win you
- 44:12Speaker 7: thing is like to your point, Paul, you gave Shack
- 44:15Speaker 7: Mason a big deal, you franchise, like, can we just
- 44:17Speaker 7: get a like can we just wing it with guards
- 44:19Speaker 7: next year?
- 44:19Speaker 1: Can we just wing it like let's let's.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Investor say how much better? So better?
- 44:25Speaker 3: And if you want, I know, winging it with guard
- 44:28Speaker 3: you have seventy five million dollars in caps because you.
- 44:30Speaker 8: Winged it with tackles this year.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Why does it invest in tackles.
- 44:34Speaker 4: That's a great point, because I don't care about the money.
- 44:36Speaker 3: What doesn't matter, And you're letting good players walk out
- 44:39Speaker 3: the door and the next quarterback is going to be
- 44:42Speaker 3: on his ass.
- 44:44Speaker 4: It matters to me because I think there's a finite
- 44:46Speaker 4: amount of money that they that they will spend, and
- 44:48Speaker 4: I don't want it spent on interior offensive linemen. I
- 44:51Speaker 4: just don't think that's the only If I thought that
- 44:54Speaker 4: they were going to run it like everybody else and say, yeah, yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 4: we'll overpay for a WINU, but it's not gonna stop
- 44:58Speaker 4: off from getting T Higgins, then I'm fine. I'll take both.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I agree with you. I think he's better.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Just holes Again, it's just like a couple of seasons
- 45:08Speaker 3: ago when they traded Shack Mason, they low ball ted
- 45:11Speaker 3: Carris and now you have to draft cold Strange in
- 45:13Speaker 3: the first round and you're just creating holes off the offense.
- 45:15Speaker 4: But that's letting them all go at once. Like in
- 45:18Speaker 4: the span of a year, probably eighteen months, you lost
- 45:22Speaker 4: your top three guards for nothing, like, for no reason.
- 45:27Speaker 4: Like that's a little different than letting one guy go.
- 45:29Speaker 4: But I told you, if they resign when you I,
- 45:32Speaker 4: you won't hear one ounce of criticism for me.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Does it change your perspective at all?
- 45:36Speaker 4: Though?
- 45:36Speaker 7: On and then you know, we've talked about this plenty
- 45:38Speaker 7: about not retaining your guys and not retaining your players.
- 45:41Speaker 7: But if there is a regime change. Does that matter
- 45:44Speaker 7: as much because you're bringing in a new guy that
- 45:45Speaker 7: you're going to try to establish all new energy anyway?
- 45:48Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 45:48Speaker 7: I mean, I'm I'm just asking the question here.
- 45:51Speaker 8: That's where I'm like my head's at.
- 45:53Speaker 7: It's like, on one hand, yeah, you'd love to, you know,
- 45:55Speaker 7: retain these guys, but like to Evan's point, what if
- 45:57Speaker 7: they don't really fit? Like what if we come in
- 45:59Speaker 7: what if a new defense coordinator. I'm not running the
- 46:02Speaker 7: sixth safety defense anymore. We're gonna run a free safety
- 46:05Speaker 7: and a strong safety.
- 46:06Speaker 4: And that's We're just looking at it in a vacuum.
- 46:08Speaker 4: We have no idea what what what the scheme is
- 46:11Speaker 4: gonna do?
- 46:11Speaker 1: So seasons over Bill, whether he decides to leave or
- 46:15Speaker 1: they decide to you know, have him leave, whatever. What's
- 46:19Speaker 1: your first step if you're the Crafts, is it to
- 46:22Speaker 1: hire a head coach.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Or to hire a GM retaining Gerard Mayo?
- 46:26Speaker 1: So you bring him in as the head coach.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Defensive court do defensive coordinator?
- 46:31Speaker 1: Is that allowed? Because is gerd Mao going to agree
- 46:35Speaker 1: to that?
- 46:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's a title, it's probably you know, probably
- 46:39Speaker 3: already getting paid pretty well otherwise I don't know why.
- 46:42Speaker 1: So you're gonna make that You're going to sign him
- 46:45Speaker 1: to that before you sign your head coach and GM
- 46:49Speaker 1: what if they don't want.
- 46:50Speaker 3: That, then they're stupid. Okay, but I wouldn't hire those guys,
- 46:54Speaker 3: Like what.
- 46:55Speaker 1: If you know what if a head coach comes in
- 46:57Speaker 1: and he wants to bring his guy or.
- 47:00Speaker 3: To do like so, I guess my point is is like,
- 47:03Speaker 3: this is what I hear you, but this defense is
- 47:07Speaker 3: not is not schematically broken? Is really well talked about?
- 47:10Speaker 4: That early?
- 47:11Speaker 1: Do you run this defense back?
- 47:13Speaker 3: I would like I I feel like that's the side
- 47:16Speaker 3: of the ball that I would like to see some
- 47:17Speaker 3: continuity stay. And I think Girod's the right guy, whether
- 47:21Speaker 3: it's the head coach or as the defensive coordinator to
- 47:23Speaker 3: do it.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Well, let's say they make Gerard the head coach. Would
- 47:26Speaker 1: you be surprised if he says, you know what, Steve,
- 47:28Speaker 1: I want you, I want you on my staff the.
- 47:30Speaker 4: DC, Yes, surprised? What stunned?
- 47:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't be would really? I don't know. I mean
- 47:38Speaker 1: they look like they have a good relationship.
- 47:41Speaker 4: They know what they're firing his father and we're going
- 47:43Speaker 4: to retain his son. Yeah, I would be stunned. You
- 47:45Speaker 4: asked me a question, that's my answer. But I don't I.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Don't find it out of the realm of possibility.
- 47:51Speaker 7: I mean, I also just think in terms of the
- 47:54Speaker 7: defense though, I mean, go back to our earlier point
- 47:57Speaker 7: of that it's really hard to have an elite defense.
- 47:59Speaker 8: You can have a good defense.
- 48:00Speaker 7: Is it that much to say we can just get
- 48:02Speaker 7: back to a good defense, Like even if we do
- 48:04Speaker 7: blow this defense up, that you know that there are
- 48:06Speaker 7: enough pieces to have a competent even if it's not
- 48:08Speaker 7: this gonna blow then who knows what's going to happen.
- 48:12Speaker 7: But I'm saying, you know, you're bringing back as many
- 48:15Speaker 7: guys as you can that you want, and you know
- 48:19Speaker 7: that solves it. I mean, Drod's your head coach, but
- 48:22Speaker 7: he's bringing back Steve. He's a defensive coach.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Now Drod's job or whoever the GM's job is the offense.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Focus on the offense. We need to build an offense
- 48:33Speaker 1: from the ground up.
- 48:34Speaker 4: I just look at it.
- 48:35Speaker 3: I think that there has to be there's a lot
- 48:38Speaker 3: to be said in my book for the fact that
- 48:40Speaker 3: the defense is still playing its tails off at two intents,
- 48:42Speaker 3: I agree, and somebody is responsible for that, you know,
- 48:47Speaker 3: primarily and talking to the guys in the locker room
- 48:50Speaker 3: after the game on Sunday, that was the first time
- 48:53Speaker 3: that the defense was starting to really come out and
- 48:56Speaker 3: point fingers, I know, and just be like.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Godshaw had those contents.
- 49:00Speaker 3: I mean, he said the same stuff to me as well.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I didn't advertise it as highly as Andrew Allen did
- 49:06Speaker 3: for obvious reasons, but I asked god Shaw, I was like,
- 49:09Speaker 3: you know what about Gerrod? Like what because obviously you
- 49:13Speaker 3: guys are still playing your butts off for somebody, and
- 49:16Speaker 3: I don't think it's Bill, Like I just don't. And
- 49:19Speaker 3: so who is it? And he said, Girod's that guy
- 49:22Speaker 3: that he's the alpha. You walk into the room with
- 49:25Speaker 3: Steve and Girard and the rest of the coaching staff,
- 49:28Speaker 3: and Girrod is the alpha dog in that room. And
- 49:31Speaker 3: everybody respects Girod Mayo, he said, we all respect all
- 49:35Speaker 3: of our coaches, but that that is the guy that's
- 49:38Speaker 3: leading the ship right now on that side of the ball.
- 49:40Speaker 3: And I think, regardless of all the x's and o's
- 49:43Speaker 3: and stuff like that, there has to be something. There's
- 49:46Speaker 3: something to be said for the fact that he's getting
- 49:47Speaker 3: those guys to play hard. Sure at this point of
- 49:50Speaker 3: the season, and they play for him, and I think
- 49:52Speaker 3: that that is you know, that was it for me.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I was like, all right, you know this, this is
- 49:56Speaker 3: a guy that needs to be here. And I wouldn't
- 49:59Speaker 3: change the defense grammatically, I wouldn't change what they're building
- 50:01Speaker 3: on that side of the football. I think they do
- 50:03Speaker 3: have young players that are playing in that defense that
- 50:06Speaker 3: are going to continue to play well. It's really you know,
- 50:09Speaker 3: the old guys are you know Lawrence guy. I guess
- 50:12Speaker 3: Judaan is starting to get up there. But for the most part,
- 50:14Speaker 3: you either have guys that are in their prime or
- 50:17Speaker 3: young on the defensive side of the football, and I
- 50:19Speaker 3: think that you should work to retain all those people.
- 50:22Speaker 1: It'll be interesting, like you said Douce earlier, when they
- 50:25Speaker 1: play Mahomes this year, will they still be playing hard?
- 50:27Speaker 1: It's only two weeks away, but will they still be
- 50:29Speaker 1: playing hard? I think they're how effective will they be?
- 50:33Speaker 6: You know?
- 50:33Speaker 4: And I just look at Kansas City and I just
- 50:35Speaker 4: I think they'll be fine against Kansas City. They haven't
- 50:38Speaker 4: done anything in months. Just we haven't seen it Herbert's good,
- 50:42Speaker 4: but the defense is suddenly really good Kansas City, but
- 50:45Speaker 4: their offense is just kind of pedestrian.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Let's open it up a five to five pats five
- 50:49Speaker 1: hundred disease. Take it out like gotta hurri because we're
- 50:51Speaker 1: gonna do picks today. Mark s and Everett, what's up? Mark?
- 50:56Speaker 6: You should take my I think I think we're way old.
- 51:00Speaker 6: I mean, you guys know me. I'm fifty five.
- 51:02Speaker 10: Grew up on Evert.
- 51:03Speaker 6: We used to be called the Patsies before you know,
- 51:06Speaker 6: we became the best the last twenty years. It takes
- 51:09Speaker 6: a little time. It's only three years removed. It's not
- 51:13Speaker 6: Bill's fault. Bill used to say, coaches coach, players play.
- 51:17Speaker 6: We've all heard him say that we just needed a
- 51:19Speaker 6: little bit more time. We're not blowing everything up. If
- 51:22Speaker 6: we bring in a new coach, it's going to be
- 51:23Speaker 6: a new system. We'll lose half our coaching staff. Then
- 51:27Speaker 6: we'll be rebuilding from scratch. It'll be another five six
- 51:30Speaker 6: years before we're somewhere. Defense is playing great, he asked,
- 51:34Speaker 6: some of our rookies still need a little more and
- 51:36Speaker 6: dropping a few balls. But Bill's not the one throwing interceptions.
- 51:40Speaker 6: Bill's not the one fumbling on the goal line. Bill's
- 51:43Speaker 6: not the one who's going off sides. You guys got
- 51:45Speaker 6: to live now.
- 51:46Speaker 4: He's the one who brought all those players that are
- 51:47Speaker 4: doing all those things here.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Yes, he picked them, he thought they were good.
- 51:52Speaker 4: And he's coaching them too.
- 51:57Speaker 6: Listen, who what about Eleman? Element wasn't until Bill brought
- 52:01Speaker 6: him in. Mayo wasn't nobody until Bill brought him in.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Mayo Mayo was the tenth overall picking the draft.
- 52:08Speaker 6: Who picked him?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Bill?
- 52:10Speaker 4: My god?
- 52:10Speaker 6: Exactly?
- 52:11Speaker 1: He was on special teams.
- 52:12Speaker 4: He's nobody. He was not on special Mayo was a
- 52:15Speaker 4: stud linebacker at Tennessee.
- 52:18Speaker 6: I'm sorry, Paul, I met Gentleman, I.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Met Edelman was a college quarterback that got sure they
- 52:23Speaker 4: I mean, Dad and Brady allowed you to develop in
- 52:26Speaker 4: into a star. But whatever, So you're.
- 52:29Speaker 6: Saying, you say he'd rather get rid of the Bill
- 52:31Speaker 6: and bringing a whole new staff, a whole new team
- 52:33Speaker 6: is start all over again, Yes, and not keep the
- 52:35Speaker 6: guy who's been keeping us the way we have.
- 52:37Speaker 4: Then go to and ten. Yes, I would rather do
- 52:39Speaker 4: that than go to and ten. Yes to me, you're.
- 52:43Speaker 6: Asking for trouble. I mean you're asking for trouble. We're
- 52:45Speaker 6: gonna have a whole new everyone.
- 52:46Speaker 4: What is trouble gonna be one and eleven?
- 52:49Speaker 6: Well, it doesn't matter this. Yes, this year we stake
- 52:52Speaker 6: when last year we were okay. The year before that
- 52:55Speaker 6: we made it to the playoffs. It's not like the
- 52:58Speaker 6: worst thing ever. I mean, we're not the Jets.
- 53:00Speaker 1: We're not.
- 53:01Speaker 4: You know, I got news for you. You're worse than
- 53:03Speaker 4: the Jets.
- 53:05Speaker 6: This season. Yeah, so you think Bill is totally lost it.
- 53:11Speaker 6: He is not to do anything about football because he
- 53:13Speaker 6: made a few bad choicest.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Don't make it, Andy Hart, don't make an Andy hard argument.
- 53:17Speaker 4: I didn't say that he's totally lost it. He doesn't
- 53:19Speaker 4: know anything about football. I don't think he's done a
- 53:21Speaker 4: good job of coaching the team. They get a delay
- 53:23Speaker 4: of game every week, they have to call a timeout
- 53:25Speaker 4: to avoid a delay a game every week. They get
- 53:27Speaker 4: caught with twelve men on the field every week like that.
- 53:31Speaker 4: The coaching that's coaching. Those are coaching errors, over and
- 53:35Speaker 4: over and over.
- 53:35Speaker 6: And we all know who it is. It's his. He
- 53:38Speaker 6: hasn't been coached up not to do it.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Who are we talking about.
- 53:42Speaker 6: We're talking about the offensive line who constantly have false starts.
- 53:46Speaker 4: I didn't say anything about false starts. I said delay
- 53:49Speaker 4: a game, timeouts and bad times, and I said too
- 53:53Speaker 4: many men on the field. That has nothing to do
- 53:55Speaker 4: with a false start.
- 53:56Speaker 6: That's coaching, because that's because the players don't know what
- 53:59Speaker 6: they're doing, so take time.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I know. But but when when when players don't know
- 54:05Speaker 1: what they're doing, the coach gets blamed.
- 54:08Speaker 6: Of course he gets blamed. But we know that coaches
- 54:11Speaker 6: coach and players play players not good enough, He's gonna
- 54:14Speaker 6: make a mistake.
- 54:15Speaker 4: But he keeps trotting out those players.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I know, But when, But Mark, look at it the
- 54:19Speaker 1: other way. Whenever you see those teams that are very
- 54:22Speaker 1: rarely penalized or you always say, well, that's a well
- 54:25Speaker 1: coached team. So the opposite has to be true too, right, And.
- 54:30Speaker 6: I get and I get that, but you don't. I
- 54:32Speaker 6: get that, But it's not really what's going on.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 54:37Speaker 6: If we all had a homes we'd all be great coach. Okay,
- 54:40Speaker 6: if we all had a Brady, we'd all be great coaches.
- 54:42Speaker 4: Exactly. You just made my argument for me. Yeah, without Brady,
- 54:48Speaker 4: you just have a regular guy, just like everybody else.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Thanks, Mark, I mean, listen, I I I hear what
- 54:53Speaker 1: he's saying, but it's time listen.
- 54:55Speaker 4: It's fine to be honest with you. And I know
- 54:58Speaker 4: Mark a little bit, which is why back at him
- 55:00Speaker 4: the way I did, because I do know who I
- 55:02Speaker 4: know Mark, I used to be with teammates. The thing
- 55:08Speaker 4: that I can't get around is you can't just totally
- 55:13Speaker 4: rest on past accomplishments and just say that that's what
- 55:16Speaker 4: it is, okay, Like you have to sort of adjust
- 55:20Speaker 4: to what you're seeing in the moment. And yeah, you
- 55:23Speaker 4: can make an argument to be honest with you. I
- 55:25Speaker 4: respect Mark's loyalty to Bill Belichick and understanding and recog
- 55:29Speaker 4: Now I'm not trying to be patronizing, recognizing what he
- 55:32Speaker 4: did for twenty plus years and not wanting to just
- 55:35Speaker 4: flippantly throw that away and move on. Brian Morey, who
- 55:37Speaker 4: used to be a big part of this show with
- 55:39Speaker 4: Red and I, I feels the same way. He can't
- 55:42Speaker 4: believe he hasn't He's wisely not addressed this with me,
- 55:45Speaker 4: but I know he has with you and Matt Freed right.
- 55:47Speaker 4: He finds it unbelievable, finds it fathomable that it's even
- 55:51Speaker 4: a thought, and there's part of me that really looks
- 55:54Speaker 4: at that and says, that's impressive loyalty. And I'm not
- 55:57Speaker 4: making fun of I'm not saying that ironically at all.
- 56:00Speaker 4: Like I know this guy has done so much for
- 56:02Speaker 4: my team. I can't believe that you would even think
- 56:05Speaker 4: about replacing him. I think differently, but two people can
- 56:08Speaker 4: look at the same thing and have reasonably different I
- 56:12Speaker 4: have differences of a pion.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Bill was on board, and I mean on board, not
- 56:16Speaker 1: just reluctantly on board with someone else coming in and
- 56:19Speaker 1: running personnel, and he just focuses on coaching. I'd be
- 56:24Speaker 1: okay with that.
- 56:25Speaker 4: I wouldn't, you know, because he would coach it the
- 56:27Speaker 4: same way he's coaching it now. I think he loves
- 56:31Speaker 4: these games, the last three games, like holding the score down.
- 56:37Speaker 4: I just I don't think he's interested in trying to outscore.
- 56:40Speaker 4: I think Brady was so good that that's what happened
- 56:44Speaker 4: is it didn't matter.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Logan's in Indiana. What's up? Logan?
- 56:49Speaker 10: Hey guys? I love your show.
- 56:51Speaker 4: Thanks hi, Evan real quick.
- 56:55Speaker 6: You're the fan.
- 56:56Speaker 10: I love your input on this show. I love all you.
- 56:59Speaker 4: Guys, but you're Evans that along evn't had to go
- 57:02Speaker 4: and uh talk to Bailey's app.
- 57:04Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it's confronting dais all right.
- 57:06Speaker 4: Well he's gonna ask him why he.
- 57:08Speaker 10: Controversial question, mister crafts your guys the boss. If you
- 57:12Speaker 10: don't want to answer it, that's fine. But is there
- 57:14Speaker 10: a power struggle going on here? Like the crab tail
- 57:17Speaker 10: Belichick for drafting Mac Josephs the man you're gonna stick
- 57:21Speaker 10: with you're coaching because Belichick wants to put the best
- 57:24Speaker 10: product on the cannot think that Mac.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I don't know if he told him specifically to you know,
- 57:32Speaker 1: draft Mac or eight quarterback. What I do think is
- 57:35Speaker 1: that he told you need to be more collaborative, because
- 57:39Speaker 1: that word was used by Belichick and by Craft. And
- 57:42Speaker 1: so if that means listen to Matt grow more or
- 57:45Speaker 1: listen to your scouts more when they give you suggestions,
- 57:50Speaker 1: that could be part of it. And if you want
- 57:51Speaker 1: to call that a power struggle, okay, But I doubt
- 57:55Speaker 1: that Craft would be unwise enough to go in and
- 57:59Speaker 1: demand to pick a certain player, because when you start
- 58:01Speaker 1: doing that as an owner and things go bad, who
- 58:04Speaker 1: do you fire? Yeah? Right, you don't set yourself up
- 58:08Speaker 1: like that as an owner. Yeah, it just.
- 58:10Speaker 10: Sounded like Bill was a little high on Bailey.
- 58:14Speaker 6: Just a couple of little combats.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Well, well, I think he was doing that because he
- 58:20Speaker 1: liked his attitude and I think he didn't like Max
- 58:23Speaker 1: at it.
- 58:23Speaker 4: Well, I think it's one thing. He didn't turn it over.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well that part of it.
- 58:27Speaker 4: He kept saying he didn't turn it over. He didn't
- 58:29Speaker 4: turn it over, he didn't turn it over, and he
- 58:30Speaker 4: ignored the fact that they didn't move the ball and score.

- 59:30Speaker 1: What's up, everybody, Maddie here. Bill Belichick spoke to the
- 59:33Speaker 1: media yesterday.
- 59:34Speaker 5: Let's listen to what he had to say.
- 59:38Speaker 12: I know it's a few times up in the game
- 59:39Speaker 12: that you know, you guys moved ball well at times
- 59:43Speaker 12: but couldn't inside the red area of the scoring position. What,
- 59:46Speaker 12: in your perspective prevented the offense from being able to
- 59:50Speaker 12: move the ball to the red zone or down the
- 59:53Speaker 12: go line.
- 59:56Speaker 13: I think there's a number of factors. Let mean, first
- 59:59Speaker 13: of all, and we get it there, we got to
- 1:00:01Speaker 13: do more with it. You know, we have a couple
- 1:00:03Speaker 13: of negative plays in those situations, and you know that
- 1:00:10Speaker 13: put us out.
- 1:00:11Speaker 9: You know, put us out. We weren't able to convert on.
- 1:00:17Speaker 13: We're on a long field, so that's that's always hard
- 1:00:22Speaker 13: to you know, move the ball an extra thirty or
- 1:00:24Speaker 13: forty yards, you know, but they look, that is what
- 1:00:28Speaker 13: it is. We get the ball there, still got to
- 1:00:29Speaker 13: do more with it. But you know, we got to
- 1:00:33Speaker 13: one drive. I think it was like fourteen plays and
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: something like that, and you know, went from the down
- 1:00:41Speaker 13: somewhere around the ten to the thirty, so you know
- 1:00:44Speaker 13: it's a good drive, but still not really even in
- 1:00:47Speaker 13: scoring range.
- 1:00:48Speaker 9: So you know, it's a combination of.
- 1:00:52Speaker 13: Not having enough explosive plays, not being able to do
- 1:00:55Speaker 13: well enough when we got the ball into the plus
- 1:00:58Speaker 13: plus territory, and you know, plan on long field always,
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: you know, makes it statistically harder to make long drives
- 1:01:06Speaker 13: compared to short ones.
- 1:01:07Speaker 9: So those are some of the things.
- 1:01:10Speaker 13: But I mean, in the end, when we get there,
- 1:01:11Speaker 13: we just got to do more with the opportunities that
- 1:01:13Speaker 13: we have when we get the ball in the scoring area.
- 1:01:16Speaker 12: And just one quick fall up. Were you pleas enough
- 1:01:19Speaker 12: with the offensive performance to start Bailey again on Thursday?
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: Yeah, well we'll talk about the game plan here today.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:01:32Speaker 12: Expecting Chris back.
- 1:01:35Speaker 14: In reference to yesterday and also kind of more generally
- 1:01:39Speaker 14: this season, what do you do with being the main
- 1:01:41Speaker 14: problems in terms of the offensive production?
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: Is it is a talent issue? Is it an execution issue?
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: There is?
- 1:01:48Speaker 14: Obviously the defense has you in games, but the offense
- 1:01:52Speaker 14: has not been able to seemingly live up to their end.
- 1:01:56Speaker 9: Of the bargain. Yeah. Well, there's no question we need
- 1:01:59Speaker 9: to be more productive offensively, so just keep working on it.
- 1:02:05Speaker 15: Is it a talent issue?
- 1:02:07Speaker 9: Execution?
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: What do you what do you feel?
- 1:02:10Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:02:10Speaker 13: I think there's it's a combination of things. But if
- 1:02:14Speaker 13: we can can make them, make them better, then collectively
- 1:02:19Speaker 13: we think it will have better results.
- 1:02:23Speaker 14: Ken White t mind staffs on defense yesterday? What have
- 1:02:28Speaker 14: you seen from him in his development and how has
- 1:02:30Speaker 14: he grown into more playing time?
- 1:02:36Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:02:36Speaker 13: No, I mean can's you know, hard working kid. He's
- 1:02:39Speaker 13: out there every day and and that's how you get better,
- 1:02:42Speaker 13: get better with being on the practice field, working on
- 1:02:46Speaker 13: your techniques or reads or fundamentals, your keys, and then
- 1:02:50Speaker 13: you know, improving your techniques. He's done all those and
- 1:02:56Speaker 13: gets gets better every day and you know, is improved
- 1:02:59Speaker 13: of the course of the season. That's sort of it's
- 1:03:02Speaker 13: a credit to his hard work and coachability that that
- 1:03:05Speaker 13: he's done.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I get.
- 1:03:11Speaker 16: Next question, Michael Hurley, and I encourage others to raising.
- 1:03:13Speaker 14: Hand if you have a question, Bill, just a quick
- 1:03:17Speaker 14: question on Bailey.
- 1:03:18Speaker 9: I know it's limited sample.
- 1:03:19Speaker 14: Size and a couple of passes yesterday probably could have
- 1:03:22Speaker 14: been hot, but fifty percent completion right through this point,
- 1:03:24Speaker 14: are you seeing a.
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: Different quarterback than what you had last year in Bailey
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: or what have you? What is I don't know, fifty
- 1:03:31Speaker 9: sticks out to you or not?
- 1:03:34Speaker 13: Yeah, well again, I'm always looking to, you know, increase
- 1:03:38Speaker 13: our production on everything, so passing games, you know, and
- 1:03:42Speaker 13: part of function of the quarterbacks, function of the receivers,
- 1:03:44Speaker 13: pass protection, and the plays the way they match up
- 1:03:47Speaker 13: against the coverages. So just try to keep moving forward
- 1:03:50Speaker 13: to maximize every one of those areas the best we can.
- 1:03:56Speaker 14: H Chris Ryan All for Rainbow. I want to asked
- 1:04:03Speaker 14: well about Pittsburgh on a short week, what are you.
- 1:04:07Speaker 15: Know the challenges of taking them on or anybody on.
- 1:04:11Speaker 14: This in a short week, particularly when you're looking to
- 1:04:14Speaker 14: find some consistency on one side of the ball.
- 1:04:18Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:04:19Speaker 13: Yeah, well again, it's uh, every team has has one
- 1:04:23Speaker 13: of these games, and you know we've all had them
- 1:04:25Speaker 13: in the past. So it's about rest, recovery, being physically
- 1:04:30Speaker 13: ready to go, and then only you know, quick turnaround
- 1:04:34Speaker 13: from yesterday's game to Pittsburgh saut and report today and
- 1:04:39Speaker 13: you know, a couple of days of trying to you know,
- 1:04:42Speaker 13: get things covered.
- 1:04:43Speaker 9: You know, pretty far into the season.
- 1:04:45Speaker 13: I don't think there's a lot of you know, new things,
- 1:04:48Speaker 13: but it's more adapting into what we do against what
- 1:04:51Speaker 13: they do, which is different than what we've seen. Especially defensively.
- 1:04:56Speaker 13: There's just a lot of odd spacing BA defense. Not
- 1:05:00Speaker 13: that we haven't seen that, but you know, these guys
- 1:05:02Speaker 13: obviously do a lot of it, and so we'll have
- 1:05:04Speaker 13: to and they do it their kind of their style
- 1:05:07Speaker 13: of doing it, and so we'll have to adapt that
- 1:05:09Speaker 13: to some of the things that you know that we want.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: To do in this game.
- 1:05:11Speaker 9: So so yeah, it's a quick quick turnaround that.
- 1:05:17Speaker 13: Again physically mentally and and uh and then from a
- 1:05:21Speaker 13: game planning standpoint, you know, we just all have to
- 1:05:23Speaker 13: you know, not try to do too much game planning,
- 1:05:28Speaker 13: but you know, physically be ready to go and be
- 1:05:30Speaker 13: ready to compete for sixty minutes.
- 1:05:33Speaker 16: Right Well, thanks question to cot to random exact costs Well,
- 1:05:40Speaker 16: a similar question, but specifically on Pittsburgh's offense counts up.
- 1:05:44Speaker 16: Is it to develop a game plan to them this
- 1:05:47Speaker 16: week given the coordinator change, the entry to the quarterback
- 1:05:49Speaker 16: that just happened, and including the short week.
- 1:05:54Speaker 13: Right, Well, again, when you're when you're this far into
- 1:05:57Speaker 13: the season, I don't think you know, you'd see a
- 1:06:00Speaker 13: too many teams on a Thursday game, you know, revamp
- 1:06:03Speaker 13: and run a whole new offense. You know, at this
- 1:06:06Speaker 13: point you're and you've committed a lot of time and
- 1:06:09Speaker 13: reps to what you do, and you you know, modified
- 1:06:12Speaker 13: a little bit for the specific opponent, but you pretty
- 1:06:15Speaker 13: much are what you are at this point in the
- 1:06:17Speaker 13: season and in terms of schematically, and I don't think
- 1:06:21Speaker 13: you're put in the twenty or thirty new plays this week,
- 1:06:24Speaker 13: so even it was a full week.
- 1:06:26Speaker 9: So I just you know, I think you prepare for
- 1:06:29Speaker 9: what what you've seen.
- 1:06:30Speaker 13: We played this team last year, so we have a
- 1:06:32Speaker 13: little bit of a background at least with some of
- 1:06:33Speaker 13: the personnel and certainly the defensive scheme. But there's always
- 1:06:39Speaker 13: the unknown. You know, something different could happen, and if
- 1:06:41Speaker 13: it does, I'm if you're ready to adapt to it.
- 1:06:44Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 1:06:46Speaker 14: And one more, uh, do you anticipate anticipate Matthew Judon
- 1:06:50Speaker 14: being able to return to practice it all down the
- 1:06:52Speaker 14: stretch this season?
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: We'll see. That's a good question. Yeah, we'll see.
- 1:06:57Speaker 13: That's that's a medical questions, So see how that plays out.
- 1:07:02Speaker 13: I know he's working hard. You know, Matt's been an
- 1:07:04Speaker 13: here and uh, you know it works hard on a
- 1:07:07Speaker 13: on a daily basis. But again that that's a medical
- 1:07:11Speaker 13: question that you know I wouldn't be able to answer.
- 1:07:18Speaker 9: You know, it looks like the last question for Zach Cups.
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: Morning built.
- 1:07:24Speaker 17: But what does Moping need to show you in order
- 1:07:28Speaker 17: to earn a more significant role defensively? I know you
- 1:07:30Speaker 17: had some opportunities early in yesterday's game, but only I
- 1:07:35Speaker 17: believe over the last couple of weeks.
- 1:07:39Speaker 13: Well, you know, we have pretty good depth at that position,
- 1:07:41Speaker 13: and obviould say Peppers and Dugger, you know, two of
- 1:07:46Speaker 13: our best players and to the better players in the
- 1:07:48Speaker 13: league at that position. So not really looking to get
- 1:07:51Speaker 13: them off the field and you just get playing time
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: for somebody. Use players around guys like Doug and Pepper's
- 1:07:59Speaker 13: situationally because you think they can help you in that
- 1:08:02Speaker 13: situation in a certain package. And so that's that's really
- 1:08:06Speaker 13: what players need to do in situations like that, is
- 1:08:09Speaker 13: you know, develop an opportunity and and then be ready
- 1:08:12Speaker 13: to perform well when those opportunities come to.
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: Create more opportunities. So and tased on that. He's he's
- 1:08:20Speaker 9: a hard working kid.
- 1:08:21Speaker 13: He you know, really pays attention, very studious and attentive,
- 1:08:25Speaker 13: and you know he's improved a lot through the course
- 1:08:28Speaker 13: of the year. I don't think he's a good player,
- 1:08:30Speaker 13: will be a good player, but you know, he's still
- 1:08:32Speaker 13: young and inexperienced. And let's say right now, you know
- 1:08:35Speaker 13: the guys ahead of him are just ahead of them.
- 1:08:39Speaker 18: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:08:44Speaker 18: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:08:48Speaker 18: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:08:52Speaker 18: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: Only and now great moments in.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: History. But but that's my point. They didn't. I think
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Levy was caught the wave there. He had a great team,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: great person you know, great players. They were oh my.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: Whoa sorry who unnecessary one forever right, that came out
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: of nowhere.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: They were, they were loaded. We'll get that on posting.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Get that on post That's another great moment from all
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: right back here in Patriots Unfiltered eight five five past
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: five hundred is the ACE ticket outline web radio at
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Patriots dot COM's email address. We're going to do picks today,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: so we gotta hurry. But Chris with A T, I
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: A N S on the phone, what's up, Christian?
- 1:09:46Speaker 15: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Guys? Hey?
- 1:09:50Speaker 15: You know call is like mock that just want to
- 1:09:52Speaker 15: make you bag your head off the table. Look, we
- 1:09:56Speaker 15: all want to go back to two thousand and three
- 1:09:58Speaker 15: when Tyle Loff picked off Times THEFC Championship game. But
- 1:10:03Speaker 15: you know, the best the dynasty, you know portion of
- 1:10:07Speaker 15: the dynasty that year, Like it was just phenomenal. It's great.
- 1:10:10Speaker 15: It's over twenty years ago. And I don't know how
- 1:10:12Speaker 15: you could possibly watch these past four seasons that think
- 1:10:15Speaker 15: that changes are warned and officiate doesn't convince you with that.
- 1:10:19Speaker 15: I don't know what will like. I I'm just baffled
- 1:10:22Speaker 15: with people like and I don't know if you guys
- 1:10:25Speaker 15: have seen it, but I all over all over Twitter,
- 1:10:29Speaker 15: uh you know, online wherever. Oh the defense the past
- 1:10:33Speaker 15: three games, they've been liked. So who have they played?
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: And it can score point? This one was was you know,
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: more impressive than the other two.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It was rainy.
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not even taking that. I think the
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: defense has played hard. I think Evan the way Evan
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: puts it is right. They they're continuing to compete. Now,
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: I'm with you, Christian, and I've been down this road.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: I'm not going to go in today. I think they're fine.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: I think the defense is fine, right, but you know,
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: I just haven't seen them, you know.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: But that's the thing you bring back. But what's going
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: to change, you know, Like what is going to change
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: if you bring back Bill and the staff and what
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: is going to change? It's sometimes you just need a
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: new start, you know. And I understand like, oh, maybe
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: it's going to take you know, two or three years
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: to rebuild again or maybe longer, but like that's what
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: we're looking at anyway, you know.
- 1:11:32Speaker 7: Right, And it's not like Bill Scott like six seven,
- 1:11:35Speaker 7: eight years, like I mean you know, it's it's got
- 1:11:37Speaker 7: to happen the next few years.
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: And that's a big part of it for me. Like
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: if you were fifty five, I would say, yeah, give
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: him a chance to fix this.
- 1:11:44Speaker 15: Yeah, totally different conversation.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: But he's said he's going to be seventy two in April.
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: I just don't know if he'll be around, you.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Know, And you know I said it before. If we're
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: lucky enough to get Caleb Williams or Drake may you
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: want a coach that's going to be there with him
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: as he grows, you know, like so they grow together,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: you know, you know, and and hopefully that's an offensive coach.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: You know, no disrespect to Gerard Mayo, but that whoever there,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: whoever is there on the offensive side, is with him.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: For you know, you don't want to be in that
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: situation where the young quarterback is going through coordinators. It's
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: just it's not a way to learn how to play
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: this game. We already did that around me, all right.
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: There is a part of me though, that, just for
- 1:12:29Speaker 7: entertainment's sake, would love to hear the Belichick pitch of
- 1:12:32Speaker 7: if you wanted to stay and what he thinks needs.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: To give it to you, well, yeah, but I mean,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I I'd love to hear love it.
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: I mean, but I'd also say I don't want to
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: hear the they just have to play better, Like I
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: would like to hear the real like this is what
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: was missing this year.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: I think you started to hear it a little bit,
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: you know, like some of the defensive players, like if
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: we had an offense you know, you know, yeah, right
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: in the middle of right, right right in the mid
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: of the playoff picture, and you know, you know, the
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: turn turnovers have really really hurt us and not you know, injuries,
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: you know, Like I think it's like I always make
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: fun of the Felger fact, Like you can use facts
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: like Matthew Judar and Christian Gonzales getting hurt were two
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: significant injuries to that defense. That's a fact. Like it's
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: a stretch to then say instead of two and ten,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: you'd be ten and two, which I think some people
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: exaggerating a little bit. Some people have sort of said,
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: like that's the difference between competing and not competing, And
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: it's not like just like I keep saying, like the
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: Patriots turnover problem, right, it's not to be like they
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: didn't lose Sunday because they didn't get shut out, because
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: they turned the ball over all over the place. They
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: had one fumble that was gonna precede a third and long.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: You know, so maybe they would have kicked a field goal.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Maybe they lose six to three instead. I don't know.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: But you can sit there and say they've turned the
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: ball over a lot this year and convince yourself that's
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: why they're two and ten. And I always say, how
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: do I put it, Fred? They don't. They don't suck
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: because they turn the ball over a lot. They turned
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: the ball over a lot because they suck, do you.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Know what I mean?
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: Yeah, the players aren't good enough. And again the coach
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: is responsible for the players.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: But it's someone like Maury just.
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: Willing to eat a two win season because because of
- 1:14:30Speaker 7: what the past was, and and you know, and and
- 1:14:32Speaker 7: and not even just a two win season by itself, but.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: You know, yeah, to me, it's three straight seasons, five seasons.
- 1:14:39Speaker 7: Of going down and and and guys aren't developing, and
- 1:14:43Speaker 7: you know, it's just it feels right now like you
- 1:14:46Speaker 7: don't really have anything in the cupboard anymore, like there's
- 1:14:48Speaker 7: really nothing. I mean, you listen to Evan trying to
- 1:14:50Speaker 7: talk about what can you hang your hat on an offense?
- 1:14:51Speaker 7: It's just, you know, I just and I also just
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: think there's a bigger thing that there's just a time,
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: like it's a certain time.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: It's just direction. You're driving a car and you go
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: into a place you've never been before, this before GPS,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you find yourself in this
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: dirt trail. You can keep going if you want, but
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: you probably should turn around and go in a different direction,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Yeah, And sometimes you just
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: have to turn around and go in a different direction.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: And that's where we are.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: And part of me wonders too, of how much is
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: you know, why did the offense kind of carry over
- 1:15:23Speaker 7: if you know what I mean from last year? Cause
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: it's just I can't get over how much we were
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: just constantly lamenting Matt Patricia last year and it's just
- 1:15:33Speaker 7: that right now it's just as an effective a Why
- 1:15:36Speaker 7: did that carry over?
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Is it all Max fault? I don't. I don't really
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: think so.
- 1:15:40Speaker 7: I mean, I think it's you know, I just I like,
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: as I was getting that, I think you just at
- 1:15:44Speaker 7: a certain time in sports, and it's crazy that that
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: Bill's been here is twenty four years or whatever it is.
- 1:15:48Speaker 7: But it's just at a certain time, you kind of
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: it's time, you know, And that's to me what it
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: kind of feels like. It's just this isn't fixable in
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: his time frame, even if we wanted him to, and
- 1:15:59Speaker 7: he you know, we thought you would be capable of
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: doing it.
- 1:16:01Speaker 8: I have a hard time thinking that he can fix
- 1:16:03Speaker 8: this team.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: And you know like it. You know, I fans don't
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: want to hear about money, But if I were the crafts,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: the thing that would scare me the most is seeing
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: on the secondary market ten dollars tickets now. Being a
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: season ticket holder becomes an economic decision because I can't
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: get my money back on the second Like you know,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: I'm going to go to five games, sell the rest,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: and you know it's it's a break even. So why
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: would I ever give my tickets now? If you can't
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: do that? Now? It's an economic decision. Do I really
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: want to hold on? Take a loss? Every year? And
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: you know, these waiting less people, you get the phone call,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: you're up, I don't know, you know, I know interesting,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I know I've been waiting for twenty years, but yeah, no,
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: I'm on the way. And that's if I'm really, if
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I'm the Craft, I'm worried about that. And not to
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: say that you fire Bill and all of a sudden
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: you're going to be good again. No, but you would
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: still in your fan base. You you draft that quarterback high,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: you have a new GM who's you know, taking you know,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: getting guys in free agency that are exciting, and you're
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: instilling hopeing to your fan base and they're saying, okay,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: you know, yeah right now, there's none of that, And
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: that would scare me if I was the.
- 1:17:22Speaker 7: Crest and that and that goes to my point earlier
- 1:17:24Speaker 7: of you need that number one pick quarterback that you're
- 1:17:27Speaker 7: gonna trots out there and in April and say here
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: we go. This is you know, and I mean I
- 1:17:31Speaker 7: felt it with Mac even you know, with Bill not
- 1:17:33Speaker 7: even in question at that point. You know, just with
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: having Mac out there, I got a first round quarterback,
- 1:17:37Speaker 7: there's you know, a new vibe here and you know,
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: just you know, whatever it might be, you know, Drake,
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: may they roll them out there like that's you'll have
- 1:17:44Speaker 7: that same feeling again.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: You'll feel renewed and like, all right, we have a new.
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: We're starting a new chapter with a total understanding that
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: it may not work, like you might not get the
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: right guy, and you may be back in that same place.
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: Like That's why it is a cycle for the bad.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: You know, the Jets have done it with Donald and
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: Sanchez and Wilson and you know you but you got
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: to you got to get the right guy, and you
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: got to keep trying. If you don't get it right,
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: you can't just I think Fred's analogy about the dirt world.
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: You can't just keep going down the path that you
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: know is wrong. You need to keep trying to find
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: that guy. I've heard a lot of the San Francisco model, right,
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: And I heard my buddy Mike this week, Mike g
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: Reees talk about you know, I'm kind of one, you know,
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: talking myself into that San Francisco's model. You know what
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: they did right, Just everybody understands what they did right.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: They violently traded up in the first round to use
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: the third overall pick on a quarterback. They missed, yep.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: And now they had other guys to allow them to
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: get away with those misses and ultimately plugged in a
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: seventh round guy who was played as well as they
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: could have ever possibly hoped that the number three overall
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: pick would play. So it worked.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: And you talk about an advanced offense, that's an advanced
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: offense and the parties his secret weapons. He can run it.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Not not to say he's the best passer or the
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: best run but he can run that offense. And that's
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: all they need is someone who can run that offense,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: because every time you turn around, someone different has the
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: ball making a play. It's it's it's a fun team
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: to watch. That's good. He too, He is good.
- 1:19:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I still feel though he goes against my feeling
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: of what the m v P should be though. I mean,
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: you know, it's just not the m v that's the
- 1:19:29Speaker 7: best player or the worst team around him, you know,
- 1:19:32Speaker 7: the guy that has willed the like you can't give
- 1:19:34Speaker 7: it to like the quarterback we go.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: I don't think he's the m v P of his team.
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: That's why I wouldn't get I mean, I think he's
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: like fifth on the list of his team.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree, Yeah, but yeah, it's it's it's
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I don't know. Sam's in Michigan.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: Sam, Hey, guys, how's going Sam?
- 1:19:56Speaker 11: All right?
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: So quick question you guys gonna lose to Alabama.
- 1:20:00Speaker 19: Mark, my sister in law actually goes to Alabama, so
- 1:20:04Speaker 19: I kind of win either way.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Okay, So next.
- 1:20:09Speaker 19: March, Girod Mayo's the head coach. I'm sure the Crafts
- 1:20:12Speaker 19: want a little bit of continuity. You bring in some
- 1:20:15Speaker 19: kind of offensive minded offensive coordinator. Who again it's kind
- 1:20:18Speaker 19: of a crap shoot.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Would he's offensive minded? Yeah?
- 1:20:21Speaker 19: Yeah, yeah, I do too. You have let's say the
- 1:20:24Speaker 19: number two or three pick one of the quarterbacks. Like
- 1:20:28Speaker 19: you guys said earlier, it's it's it's what chance, Pennix, whoever, Williams,
- 1:20:35Speaker 19: it doesn't matter. Do you do what Houston does last
- 1:20:38Speaker 19: year and you try to package move up, take a
- 1:20:41Speaker 19: Martin Harrison junior, a Joe Alt like the tackle from
- 1:20:44Speaker 19: penn State.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Do you try to do it together?
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: Do it a little more quickly?
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Do you you know what I mean?
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Do you get aggressive? Do you do you start,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: you know, spending assets in the now?
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: I just don't know if they have the assets that
- 1:20:59Speaker 7: that Houston had last year to pull this kind of
- 1:21:01Speaker 7: and I'm.
- 1:21:02Speaker 19: Not I don't know what kind of picks they have
- 1:21:04Speaker 19: in the later rounds, And I'm not a talent evaluator either.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:21:07Speaker 19: Maybe it is worth it in this kind of draft
- 1:21:09Speaker 19: to keep your second and thirds, and I know the
- 1:21:11Speaker 19: day two picks are really valuable, but I mean, Houston,
- 1:21:14Speaker 19: I'm not saying it's going to work every year, but
- 1:21:16Speaker 19: they're in a position of competer a playoff spot, and
- 1:21:18Speaker 19: then it seems to work out well for them.
- 1:21:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I think the thing scares me is
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: just trying to get cute and overthink it, and it's
- 1:21:25Speaker 7: just you just you know, don't don't don't do that,
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: think about what you need.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: You need a quarterback.
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: I mean it's you know, as much as people want
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: Marvin Harrison Junior, I just I like and I get it,
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: like he's good and I'm sure it'll be exciting, but
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: also it's just I look at like that out of
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: the field after you introduce the draft pick, and it's like,
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: the quarterback is the biggest position in this game, and
- 1:21:44Speaker 7: it would be yeah, it'll be fun to roll a
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: wide receiver out there, but now it's like, so I
- 1:21:48Speaker 7: was going to throw it to him, We're gonna be
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: able to protect it. You know, how many times is
- 1:21:50Speaker 7: the game is he really going to touch the ball.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: And you know, I like, I'd love to have him
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: on the team, but I just don't get cute. The
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: quarterback is the thing, and and until otherwise, you don't
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: have a quarterback right now?
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Thanks Sam, all right, a lot of emails coming in
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: a lot of emails, Joe writes in he says, do
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: we owe Matt Patrician apology? Could it be that he
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: was not so inept? Even a great chef or a
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: good chef can't make a decent dinner with dollar store groceries.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: I think you might owe him an apology if you
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: were really like like like Fred's whole thing. But he
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: didn't do a good job coordinating in the offense, much
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: like Billy Oh is not doing a great job right now.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: I said he deserved to thank you.
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it. That's silly, But no, it isn't. Yes
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: it is.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Why does he deserve a thank you for forgiving it
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: his all in something he had never done before?
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: He was asked to do a job, Thanks for trying,
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: and yeah.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: And he gave it his all, and you know he
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: was a good soldier.
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: And then he you know nothing about first of all,
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: you know nothing about how hard he tried, he tried hard. No,
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: you don't.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Why how do you know?
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: How do you know? It's all I'm saying, work for Bill,
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: you try hard.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: You know, that's just the way it is.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: Some guys in the locker room right now that might
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: disagree with you.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm talking about coaches. They don't. There's no lack
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: of effort.
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: But if Bill were to stay here, like, can you
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: imagine him saying we're going to bring in a new
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: offensive coordinator for a third year in a row, Like,
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: would you have any expectation that will look any different
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: unless they had significantly better personnel.
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: Here's the thing is, are they going to bring someone
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: from outside who's going to bring in an entirely different
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: offense than I could? I could wrap my mind around that,
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: But I think part of the problem is the system.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: Well that's and I mean and I beyond even the system.
- 1:23:33Speaker 7: I just questioned the overall philosophy and if no matter
- 1:23:36Speaker 7: who that offensive corner, because I felt like Billy Oh
- 1:23:38Speaker 7: had he wasn't like Josh who was just completely enmeshed
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: and grain in this system. I don't know, I just
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: I think even if you bring in the hot shot,
- 1:23:47Speaker 7: which whiz kid under Bill with the philosophy of how
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: they want to play, it might kind of look the same,
- 1:23:53Speaker 7: or at least they would, you know, they wouldn't be infesting.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: To hear all the talk recently about and I think
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: this is part when things go bad, Guys get their
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: messages out there to people. But a lot of talk
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: from like Burt Breer, Ted Johnson and those guys talking about,
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: you know, how handcuffed Billy Oh has been right, you know,
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: like he's and I do get them, but you know,
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: absolutely Freddy and I do think there's probably some similance
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: of truth to it because I just listening to Bill
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Belichick pound and pound and pound away at the turnovers. Yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: like that's a hard way to play. I wrote in
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: my notes that posted this morning, like it's one thing
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: to not turn the ball over. That's great, But the
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: quarterback's job isn't to just not turn it over. It's
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: to make plays too, not just avoid bad ones.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: He goes in there petrified to make a mistake. That's
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: no way to go.
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: And I thought that some of those sacks on Sunday
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: were examples where he wasn't willing to try to make
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: a play, and he was holding the ball too long.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Tim and Phoenix. BB is playing chess with checker
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: pieces and wondering why it's not working. It's a case
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: after can't two and not a case of want to.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: It's a case of okay, I can't not want. He
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: has stated over and over his job is to put
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: players in the best position to succeed. Not all players
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: are created equal. Asking current player actual to play like
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: former awesome patriot is not putting said current player into
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: a position to succeed. I have a theory on the drafting.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: In the last ten years, he's drafted players he wants
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: to work with. To me, this is meaning he is
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: taking players that don't push back like LT did insert
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: great player here. He's drafted and staffed a bunch of
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: yes men. Iron sharpens iron cliches.
- 1:25:39Speaker 8: I don't know, I don't.
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: I mean, I bristle a little bit. It's just like
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: he only wants sick of fans to do what he wants. Like,
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: I mean, I just I like, and I know that
- 1:25:47Speaker 7: that doesn't necessarily fit the narrative, but I just I
- 1:25:50Speaker 7: think it just comes down to the players. I just
- 1:25:52Speaker 7: think they don't have enough good players. They haven't drafted,
- 1:25:55Speaker 7: and their whole structure has gotten completely upset. And then
- 1:25:58Speaker 7: right now it's beyond fixing. It's not like, oh, we
- 1:26:01Speaker 7: had a bad draft. It's like you've had multiple bad
- 1:26:05Speaker 7: drafts strong in a row. Right now you're getting nothing.
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: I mean, you have no one left from the twenty
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: nineteen draft class.
- 1:26:11Speaker 8: Like those things.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: It's just.
- 1:26:14Speaker 8: I don't know, I don't know where to point it.
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: I just I, well, I think it's even letting him
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: off the hook in a little way, you know, like, well,
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: you know, he's playing, and I know that part of
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: it is all the cliches like that the email are
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: cleverly you know, sort of worked into that email, you know,
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: but there's playing checker chests with checker pieces like that's coaching.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: Like you can't just say, well, this is what I do,
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: and I adapt my what I do to the talent
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: that I have and then not do that, you know.
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: And I think that one of the things that made
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: Bill so successful, you know, during the glory years and
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: during the run was they and we talked about this
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: when we're you know, sort of before when we're talking
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: about the two thousand and three season that you're working
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: on a podcast for you know, commemorating the two thousand
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: and three championship. They always were able to find a
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: way to beat you, regardless of whichever way you wanted
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: to play, and I think Bill was willing and able
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: to adapt to the sort of three yards and a
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: cloud of dust that started the dynasty toward a transition
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: toward a more wide open game where they're by design
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: throwing the ball fifty times in a game, not because
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: they had to, because they felt like that was what
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: was best. They could beat you throwing it, They could
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: beat you running it, they could beat you in a
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: defensive battle, they could beat you in a shootout. And
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: now I don't feel like that they operate that way anymore.
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: I don't think that they have more ways to win,
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: and I think it's by design they want to keep
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: the score down and try to win that way. And
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: I just don't think, you know, and that's part of
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: like the score down the last couple of weeks. And
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: I'm not telling you the other team should have had
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: thirty points, because they shouldn't have all three of them.
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: I mean, especially the Giants had no no offense whatsoever,
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: with a third string, undrafted rookie. I mean as an argument, Okay,
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: if taekwon, Thoorton takes that end around to the house,
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: which he almost did, do you think they win the
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: game seven six?
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: Maybe?
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: I don't think there was any chance that you know,
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: now they might have won the game, but not seven
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: to six. That wouldn't have been the end of the scoring.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I I have trouble getting there.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: But I mean, I know what point you're making.
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Like, I think it's one thing to say he's
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: playing chess and again I know the emailers making the
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: making a joke, but he's playing chess with checker pieces. Well,
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: it's his job to find what those checker pieces, no, no,
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: what the checker pieces can do and put them in
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: the best position to succeed. Not like well I used
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: to put Teddy Bruski here and he did this, But
- 1:28:42Speaker 4: Julini Tavai can't do that. Do you know what I mean, Julie,
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: I think had a terrific season.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Evan great from Zappy. Evan Zach is back from Zappy.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Now Evan is from Maam, Yes, sir, yes, ma'am. What
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: did he say? Yes?
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: Serious man like that's that's all I, me and you.
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: We we stepped all over from That was brilliant. That
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: was that was our bad.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: He kept going.
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: The ending was the best part. Yes, and were stepping
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: on him. I feel bad.
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: Now, come on, guys, we had so much in the tank.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: He kept going, well, uh.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: ZAPPI said in not so much words, not that it's
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: surprising whatsoever, but that he's starting on Thursday.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: He wouldn't be talking you guys. Guess what he was like, like, I.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: Would say, you know, I forget, I don't want to
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: put words, I forget the exact phrasing. But he said
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: he was gonna leave it up to Bill to make
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: that announcement, but that you could kind of tell that.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: He was like, that would have been funny if you said, yeah,
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: I'm starting and then Buill didn't start him.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Yes, I'm I'm feeling that that the winds are blowing
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: that way sort of response. But I thought that in general.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Andrew Callahan asked him, like, what were some of the
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: positives from the film, and his big positive was procedurally,
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: they were pretty good, like.
- 1:30:04Speaker 8: They feel like trolling questions.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Week called the plays right, got out of the huddle,
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: got to.
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: The we had one delay game and one time out
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: we had to take to avoid another.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: Yeah, those types of things. He said that. You know,
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: someone asked him about all the all the ISO deep
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: shots to DeVante Parker, and he said that a halftime
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: that was an emphasis that they wanted to push the
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: ball down the field a little bit more.
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: Uh, I done, Like, buddy, we scored six points.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: There wasn't too much good. Come on, what are we
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: talking about?
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: Well?
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: Zero, they scored zero.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Zero points.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: Some of the deep shots to Parker, I thought, and
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: I mentioned this in after further review, that a little
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: bit of tunnel vision, you know, just kind of I
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: guess he's trying to make a play and trying to
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: make something happen, But I thought there were better options elsewhere.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: They called a deep shot, and you were the quarterback,
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: would you look anywhere but the deep shot, because I
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: wouldn't but see that, I guess.
- 1:31:00Speaker 7: Would run the offense as it is meant to be run.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Paul, he would go through his progression.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: I guess that's like to the issues with what they're
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: calling right now, is that like they're just they would
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: always argue that unless it's a screen, this is what Bill.
- 1:31:18Speaker 20: Always there's no intended receiver, but yet he's hitting his
- 1:31:23Speaker 20: back foot and he's chucking it to DeVante Parker, so
- 1:31:25Speaker 20: obviously he's being told to let's just take a few
- 1:31:28Speaker 20: shots here and see what happens sort of thing.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: And he's not reading out the rest of the play.
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: And I thought it was a good question against Taylor
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: Kyle's and he just said, well, we said at halftime
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: we wanted to take some shots, so we started taking
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: some shots.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Was he in a good mood? A little?
- 1:31:45Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: I think all these Thursdays are tough.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: They're tough.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: What was he wearing?
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: Patriot hoodie? I don't know which one. I'm not gonna
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: steal Deuce his thunder.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: And I think you can't do.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: But I you know, it's a tough week. I think
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: guys are energy levels a little down.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: A lot of media there.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: Tons of media, really packed house.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: You're kidding me.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: I couldn't tell you. I couldn't tell. There wasn't a
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: seat available in the place.
- 1:32:16Speaker 16: There.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: That's it, though, Well, there's only one day, no Celtics.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: There's no one day of media availability this week, No Celtics,
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: no Bruins, So I guess everybody.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, well, off season, all right, all right, So as promised,
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: we're going to do picks today because tomorrow is going
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: to be just Paul and Deuce tomorrow.
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: I think tomorrow might stop buying.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: But and okay, Evan and I will did did Paul?
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Okay that uh, Evan and I will be on a
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: bus to Pittsburgh going to the airport. So we figured
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: we get this out of the way today. Callers, though, Paul,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: what happened last week?
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Let's see last week it was Alex and Evan nine
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: and four. Yeah, there you go, Paul and Mike eight
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: and five and Fred seven and six. With the spread,
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: it was Evan and Paul nine and four, Alex eight
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: and five, Mike six and seven, and Fred five and eight.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: Tough.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: Yeah, season standings, Alex extends your lead by a game
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: one twenty five and sixty eight. Paul won twenty and
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: seventy three, Evan won eighteen and seventy five, Mike and
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: Fred tied at one seventeen and seventy six. That's rough, guys.
- 1:33:43Speaker 8: Do you think Alex gonna be upset when she finds
- 1:33:45Speaker 8: out that the result of all these this.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Is just all right? You want yeah, moving on, Yeah,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: no girl holds please? Uh.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: Paul leading with the spread ninety eight, eighty seven and eight,
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: followed by Alex At ninety five, ninety and eight, Evan
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: ninety two, ninety three and eight, Fred ninety one, ninety
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: four and eight, and Mike eighty six.
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: I'm ninety ninety three and eight. So I'm one game.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: You gotta get above five hundreds, you know, man, college scholars.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: College tuition is on the line.
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: So that's where we stand.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:24Speaker 8: For who your dog?
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: For future kids?
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: Who are your father?
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: All right, We're gonna skip over the Patriots tonight Thursday night.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: I should say, I'm all mixed up Tuesday for Thursday stuff.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: And we'll go to one o'clock on Sunday. The five
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: and seven Bucks are at the six and six.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: Falcons, Atlanta by two and a half. Battle for the
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: NFC South.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Where's the lead? Where's the game at Atlanta? Atlanta?
- 1:34:53Speaker 7: I'll go with Atlanta. I'm all thrown off, I don't
- 1:34:56Speaker 7: know my sheet. I'm gonna go with Atlanta and I'll
- 1:34:58Speaker 7: lay the points.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: Please.
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: Hey, we will get Alex's at another time. So Evan, I'm.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: Gonna go Atlanta two at home and I have them
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: by three, so it was two and.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: A half, right, correct?
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: I get the Falcons, Falcons, Falcons.
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm having a hard time with the Falcons all year.
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: But I'm gonna be with the boys here and take
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: the Falcons.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Falcons as well, both ways.
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: I thought for sure someone would take Tampa. No, probably Alex,
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: she's leading.
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: The Falcons are the new Lions when it comes to picking,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: so you can never win with them.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: What happened to you and Baker? You guys break up?
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: Big win. Last week.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Sunday at one on Fox, the six and six Rams
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: are at the nine and three Ravens.
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: Ravens by seven and a half.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: Oh, I like that one.
- 1:35:49Speaker 8: Y'all.
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Take the Ravens to win, but I'm gonna take the
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: points please for the ROMs.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: I like the Ravens and I'm gonna take them both ways.
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: I think the Ravens are really good.
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: Yeah, coming off the bye too. Yeah, I'm gonna take
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: the Ravens and lay the points. With the Rams having
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: to come all the way across the country, and I
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: think they're just okay. I don't think they're ready for
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: the Ravens.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Ravens, but I will take the points.
- 1:36:18Speaker 7: Here you go, yep, I don't think you're ready for
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: I don't think you're ready for the Raven's not about
- 1:36:24Speaker 7: taking the hook.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Fox Sunday at one nine and three, Lions are at
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: the four.
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: And eight Bears Detroit by three and a half.
- 1:36:36Speaker 7: Wow, it's not a very very small Yeah, I think
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: it is the Lions. Yeah, I'm gonna just take it
- 1:36:42Speaker 7: if it's available.
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: Lions, layam, Sure that's right, Paul.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: Well, the Bears just beat the Lions not too long ago.
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: Well, they should have beaten the Lions.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: But it's hard to be choking twice in the same
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: They choked it away by giving up two scores in
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: the last five minutes. I checked out in the five minute.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: That's memory. They're gonna win. They But I like the.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: Lions both ways in this game. I think that that
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: was a one game type of thing.
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I do too, and I will take the Lions
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: both ways. But uh, I mean, Detroit is not trending
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: in the right direction. They should have lost to Chicago.
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: They kind of got manhandled by Green Bay. Then they
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: almost blew a huge lead against New Orleans so they're
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: not playing well.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I got the Chicago and Green Bay games like
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: kind of Yeah.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: Nine and three is nine and three.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: I will go with the Lions both ways.
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: I think this one's a layup, So roll on the Lions.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Seven and five. Colts is Sunday at one at the
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: six and six Bengals coming off a big Monday.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: Night win Colts by one.
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: It's a weird one.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: So Browning is Browning, Nagel gonna be Browning.
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: Guys.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Name is Jake Jake Browning. All right, let's go for it.
- 1:37:49Speaker 7: I'm gonna go Jake Jake Browning Mania I'll take I'll
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: think the Bengals and I'll I'll take that point.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: I also like the Bengals both ways. I think that
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: they have something brewing with Browning.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Oh, I like that.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: I will take the Colts short week the Cincinnati feeling
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: good about themselves. Yeah, I think it might be a
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: one off.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Colts as well, just
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: because wrong.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: I wish I liked more about the Colts to feel
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: good about that pick.
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: But Sunday at one, eight and four Jaguars, probably without
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence, are at these seven and five Browns.
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: Without all their quarterbacks.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I played well, just left.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: Browns by one and a half until the end.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: Has pretty some uncertainty there. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: go with the Browns and I'll lay the point I have.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: I have a Browns minus three. But maybe the line
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: moved because of Trevor Lawrence, but it could be.
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: I just went this morning and went on DraftKings one
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: of the Cleveland by one and a half.
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: I'm taking the Jaguars, not because I like C. J.
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: Bethard that much, but I just think that's a really
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: good team and they'll kind of rally around the quarterback
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: and pick them up and carry him. Here.
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: Have we heard anything more about Lawrence.
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: High ankle spring?
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Okay, so I will take Cleveland.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I take Cleveland in their defense at home.
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: Yeah, their defense is ridiculous at home. I agree, Freddy.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Sunday at one Fox the one at eleven Panthers are
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: at the five and seven.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: Saints Nolans by five and a half.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Panthers, All right, this is your upset pick of the week, folks.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Panthers.
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: Though I really am to win outright, to win.
- 1:39:34Speaker 8: Yep, I'm gonna go with the Panthers.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: Want one overall. I believe it'll will it into.
- 1:39:38Speaker 8: Assistance so I can take.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: Whatever we're Now we're now picking teams for the Patriots
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: to lose. Like you know, before it was like, oh,
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: who do we need to lose for the Stadia the
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: number one pick or number one you know seed. Now
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: we're the number one pick.
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: I am.
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: So this might be Jameis Winston for the Saints. Car
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: got knocked out of that.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: Game concussion and like short amount of yeah.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: So I don't think he's playing. I too, am gonna
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: take the Carolina Panthers and an upset. And maybe that's
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: my heart picking, but it's my head is saying Panthers.
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: I will take the Saints both ways.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: Yeah. It's rare that I can pick an obvious game
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: because others are betting with their heart. Usually it's the
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: other way around. I'm picking the Saints both ways. Uh.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: Sunday at one CBS, the seven and five Texans are
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: at the four and eight.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: Jets Houston by six and a half.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: Uh sounds like trying to go back and going back
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: if they can force him back into the game. I
- 1:40:39Speaker 7: don't know, not good, hard to take the Jets. I'm
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: gonna I'm gonna take the Texans and I will lay
- 1:40:43Speaker 7: the points.
- 1:40:44Speaker 8: Crazy though, So.
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: The Jets have also signed Brent Rippin Ripens, so he's
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: now on.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Their their relation.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: I've heard of Mark. Yeah, right, it's his uncle. Yeah,
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: we went back that would be any trick we went
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: backwards on.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: That one family. Yeah, wo.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Mark Rippon. I don't know why it's so weird.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: Somebody tell me, I forget what that sudden We've gone
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: to Appalachia.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: I am taking the Texans here, but I'm going to
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: take the Jets to cover. I think their defense keeps
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: it close.
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: I agree with Evan. I think the Jets. If I
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: hate to say this, but Zach Wilson played last week,
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: they probably would have won. I will take the Texans
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: to win the game somehow, but I'll take the six
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: and a half.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: A good reason to watch this game is just to
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: see how CJ. Stroud does against this really good defense
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: against the Jets. I'm going to go with the Texans
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: to cover in this game.
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: So there, Why do you like? Why is it personal
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: affront every time you make a pick?
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: So there?
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: That one in your pocket. What you said, not the pick? Yeah,
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: Mike picked the same thing as you.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I'm not. I just think, you know, how are these
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: young guys doing? And you want to see them tested? Yeah?
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I was.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: We'll get to Uh okay, let's it for the one
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: one o'clock games four oh five, of which there are two,
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: six and six Vikings are at the five and seven Raiders.
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: Uh Minnesota by three. Man, So we got one, two, three, four, four,
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: four o'clock four.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: In the late afternoons. Be living your best life?
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: Pause?
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: So you know me?
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: So?
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: Well? Guy?
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: How many are there four games? We're going quad box.
- 1:42:44Speaker 7: I'm getting a little bit of a Spider Man meme
- 1:42:46Speaker 7: on this game here, Vikings Raiders, and I'm gonna say the.
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: Number three Minnesota by three.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: God, this tough teams.
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: I'm gonna go with the Raiders. I'll go with the
- 1:42:56Speaker 8: Raiders at home with the upset.
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: I'm surprised one's talked about this spread like that spread
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: seems weird to me.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: I just I do both these teams think. I don't know,
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: I'm going Raiders at home just because they're at home.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing as Mike and
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: Evan for the same reason. Evan just said, I just
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: think it's two kind of struggling teams and the home
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: team is getting three points. I think it's weird.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: But are the Raiders ever home?
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: That could be too. Maybe they look at it as
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: they don't really have much of it. Maybe that's it
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: this Minnesota travel.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: Though, I don't know, it's not really anything to get
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: out of Minnesota.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: That's not really a lot a lot of renbistential questions
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: going on, like Dallas to Indiana just to get out
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: of it. Who would have thunk Detroit turned into one
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: of those teams, right, Yeah, that's true. But anyway, we
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: all have Vegas.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: What do you got, Freddie City, they can drive Raiders.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: Raiders four tells me that's gonna be one we go. Yeah,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: oh and four, four or five, six and six. Seahawks
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: are at the nine and three forty nine.
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: Ers Niners by ten and a half.
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: Oh boy, yeah, I'm gonna every single one of those
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: ten and a half points.
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: I still don't know what that means.
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: They're they're really good.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: For laying the point. Yeah, I means you're taking the favorite.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: Okay, thanks, Thanks for that clarification.
- 1:44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, sometimes he just says it, which I'm like, which
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: side is this?
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: And so the Niners just blew out the Seahawks. But
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: I watched that game and it didn't get to a
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: blowout stage until late in the game. Uh, still taking
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: the forty nine ers both ways, So I just think
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: that they're a wagon.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: San Francisco tends to do that though. They just wear
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: on you and by the end they.
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: Getting in the playoff game last year too, against the Seahawks,
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: they warmed down.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: He did the same thing to Dallas. Yeah, like that
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: Dallas playoff game last year was a lot closer than
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: the score. I'm gonna I'm gonna do the same thing.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: I was tempted to take the points. I just don't
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: think Seattle's very good. I don't think they have the pushback.
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: We'll see.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a tough game running up the flat pole.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm gonna go with the last one.
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: I have no idea what he's going to happen.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna direction. What do you think I'm gonna pick
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: on this one.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: I think you're gonna take San Francisco, but you're gonna
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: take the points.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: You're right, You're right. No, this is the type of
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: game Pete Carroll gets his team up.
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think I do think that NFC West thing.
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: I think the Seattle own owning San Francisco is part
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: of that. I just think that there's too big of
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: a gap between the teams now.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: Right, But that's a big spread for this type of game.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: So Seahawks have been playing tough, so I will take
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: them to cover, but not win. Four, five, six, and
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: six Bills. This is the Anderson window game because the
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: windows closing.
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: Oh, I see what you did that.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the Bills.
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: I think the Chiefs have plenty left.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Bills are at the eight and four Chiefs.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: Kansas City by two and a half, the vulnerable Chiefs.
- 1:45:58Speaker 8: God, I just I can't.
- 1:45:59Speaker 7: I mean, I like to say I think Buffalo catches
- 1:46:02Speaker 7: Kansas City on and off night and and kind of
- 1:46:04Speaker 7: pulls out a win that they need. But I just
- 1:46:06Speaker 7: can't pick against Mahomes. Evan laid it out. He's the
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: best player in the league right now.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: Chiefs, why do you want never mind? Why do you
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: want Buffalo to win?
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: I know, I don't.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: I just well, like Buffalo's done.
- 1:46:19Speaker 7: I just think it'd be more interesting if they kind
- 1:46:21Speaker 7: of make a final push here and show something here
- 1:46:23Speaker 7: at the end.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: But okay, fair enough, I'm going to take the Chiefs
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: both ways. I'm gonna assume in this pick that Taylor
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: Swift is going to be in attendance, and he always
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: plays better when she's there.
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: So the last game last week, I will take Buffalo
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: because I think in the regular season Buffalo has controlled
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: Kansas City and the playoffs been a different story.
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: Was that that game last week? Yeah, they barely showed her.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: On the TV, showed her walking in with Brittany.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I guess maybe they finally have realized that it's a
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: little overplayed and stop playing what.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: They even announced it before the game, and Taylor is in,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: you know, in attendance. I think NBC has something going
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: on with her, you know, in terms of some business deal.
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: But that sounded on tooled.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Peacock.
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: There's a peacock loosing peabody yesterday. You see that, Yuess,
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: someone has a pet peak pety peacock. Wow, it got
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: loose on Route one.
- 1:47:17Speaker 8: Oh jeez, is a peacock.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Okay, that's don't worry about it.
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: I'm sure they shut it down.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: Human walking, just like.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: I'll take the Chiefs both ways.
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: Yeah, they probably won't lose two in a row.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: Four twenty five CBS. The six and six Broncos are
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: at the five and seven Chargers.
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: The Black by three.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: Oh surprised a little on that.
- 1:47:42Speaker 7: Uh No, I think these are two pretty to Midland teams.
- 1:47:45Speaker 8: Yeah, evenly matched kind of teams.
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: Five and seven, six and six.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: The crowd will be half and half, right, it's not,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: it's not.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: It'll probably be more for Denver.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I know a couple of Denver fans out
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: there to you.
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: Now, La John, Denver, John, I'm for breakfast. I'm gonna
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: take the Chargers Roads Chargers for Mike I do.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: I like I like that Herbert.
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: I like that Herbert. I like the cut of his jib.
- 1:48:12Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna take the Broncos. I picked them last week,
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: I think last two and I didn't get that one correct.
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: We should have. Yeah, they would poist a score at
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: the end and Russell Wilson threw a pick.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: No, I'm just gonna take the Broncos because I just
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: watched the Chargers offense score six points and I like
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: the Broncos defense, so I'm gonna take the Broncos.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: Oh, I wrote the wrong thing down for you. I
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: am going to take the LAC with Mike. I think Denver.
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: I think that they're a product of those turnovers that
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: they create, and I just think it's a hard way
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: to play now San Diego, the Chargers could turn that over,
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: make it easy for him, But I'll take the lack.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: I am gonna go with the Broncos to win this game.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: They're not I know, doesn't know that, and they're upset
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: about that. They're very upset that they're making them play
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: a road game, especially in December.
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: I think they sent one of those letters to the league.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: Yeah. No, No, A lot of teams, in all honesty,
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: a lot of teams did complain about the scheduling for
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: the Broncos.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: That they get an unfair advantage, that they have too
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: many home games.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, well they definitely got an unfair advantage on Christmas,
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: just like you couldn't make the Broncos go on the
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: road on Christmas, God forbid.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: I mean, if you know, if you're going to say,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: oh Christmas Eve, Broncos playing a home and away, there's
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: no question they're going to play home that's just the
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: way they do it. Yep, I thought of it. I
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: thought of that. Do you have a kiss for Ferris Bueller?
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: That was where it was from my Fris Bueller.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: Their family in their family right right?
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: Good? Good? Due? Okay, we no, I just thought of it. Okay,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: eight twenty Sunday night, and for sure the ten and
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: two Eagles are at the nine and.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: Three Cowboys Dallas by three and a half.
- 1:50:08Speaker 7: Good game, I okay, I'm going with Dak.
- 1:50:14Speaker 8: Sorry for yelling. I'm gonna take the Cowboys at home.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I think we're gonna see a little little mini slump
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: here for the Eagles.
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: I I think I picked the Eagles last week, which
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: I shouldn't have done. That was a bad pick on
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: my part because they la.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: You weren't alone.
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: This guy he was like the reason why you were
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: all over it. And the Eagles I have played a
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: lot of one score games. They haven't really been great.
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: And in this game, I'm I'm gonna take Dallas for
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: for that reason. I just think that until we see
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: the Eagles play a really good team and the Bills
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: are not included in that and and win handedly, I
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: think these games are gonna be close.
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: Yeah, without help, I would say as well. I am
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: going to take Dallas. They made a big stink out
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: of that spread last week. Was disrespectful to the Eagles,
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: like they went from one point favorites to three point
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: underdogs and they were all up. And this spread, to me,
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: is more disrespectful to Philadelphia who has sort of run
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: that division, you know, with Jalen Hurts, and they're underdogs
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: by three and a half. I'm going to take the hook.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: I think Dallas will win the game, but I think
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: they win by a field goal.
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. I love seeing the Cowboys lose, but
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: I just something's going on with the Eagles. I think
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: they've kind of lived on the edge and I think
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: they're going to get a little come upp and coming down.
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: Yea MVP caliber over the last couple of months.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: It's all about the cadence. Yeah, I'll take the Cowboys,
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: but not to cover doubleheader on Monday. Why is that,
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: Because you see they scheduled two games on Monday, they
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: start at the same time.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: This is all because the Broncos are playing at home.
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: It screws everything up here.
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: Can you to be your favorite and look up Christmas
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: last year, I think Broncos and Rams played. Can you
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: tell me where that game was playing?
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: Well, what do you have to like?
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: I just think it's ridiculous that they made in all
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: seriousness that was a shot at you. But in all
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: seriousness they make in dn't replay on Christmas Eve Night
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: last year? I think they played on Christmas Day. It
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: was like the only game on Christmas Day. Do they
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: have to play games like on Christmas Eve Night and
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: Christmas Day?
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: They don't?
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: Thanks Paul, I appreciate.
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: I think it's silly.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: So eight point fifteen on ESPN, ESPN two, ESPN Deportes.
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: ESPN eight throughout the Apple.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: This is interesting. Four and eight Titans are at the
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: nine and three Dolphins. What's interesting that both of these
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: games are owned by ABC.
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: OH Miami by thirteen and a half ah, and.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: The Titans fired their special teams coordinator.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: By the way, is going to pick the Getting getting
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: two punts blocked for touchdowns was the final straw.
- 1:52:54Speaker 7: I had to go look and say, what does it take?
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: What does it take?
- 1:52:57Speaker 8: That's what it takes.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Okay, he's about he about to take the Titans.
- 1:53:01Speaker 8: I'm not taking the tight No.
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: I always at least taken that away that.
- 1:53:04Speaker 7: That ship has sailed. I can't be foolish, especially Miami
- 1:53:07Speaker 7: at home. I'll take Miami. I will lay all fourteen
- 1:53:09Speaker 7: of those points.
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: That means he's not taking the Titans.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: I did not.
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Dolphins, and I am going
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: to take them both ways as well.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I thought about taking the points because it is
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: a lot, but I can't do it Miami both ways.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take Miami both ways as well. Now,
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: the next game is also on ABC and ESPN plus
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: it's the five and six pack. Six and six packers
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: are at the four and eight Giants. But here's my question.
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: So the first game is on ESPN and ESPN two,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: why not put one game on ESPN and the other
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: game on ESPN two rather than do all this hodgepotch
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: for one and why not put both of them on ESPNL.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: This year, all the Monday night games have been on ABC.
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: And I don't know this for sure, but some and
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: explained it to me that it was because of the strike,
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: the writers strike, so that they wanted to They figured,
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: we'll just put these games on ABC because we don't
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: have original programming.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Right, But why why put the same game, which is
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: the Titans and Dolphins on ESPN and ESPN two.
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: So my guess is one of those will be the
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: Manning cast.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Oh maybe, okay, well they should say that. I don't.
- 1:54:23Speaker 4: I don't know that. That's a guess.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: That's maybe that is Usually they stagger the start times.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: Then yeah they don't.
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: Yeah. I liked that they didn't stagger because now it
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: allows me to watch it like I do the red zone.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: I'd like it if they both started at seven.
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: Red zone is completely ruined football watching for me.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Well, that's my question is like, is Scot going to
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: be at the desk on Monday night and have both We.
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: Won't have to worry about the last game standing.
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: I would love that.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: All right, six and six Packers at the four and
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: eight Giants.
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: Queen Bay suddenly red hot by six and a half.
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Packer fans are feeling that.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: They're feeling the love.
- 1:54:56Speaker 8: We uh we were there this summer. We saw this team.
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: Is time to beatle playing again because I know Tyrod
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: Taylor is eligible to return.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: I think he is. I think I think we got
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: chicken cutlets again.
- 1:55:07Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm going to take the Packers, and I'm gonna
- 1:55:09Speaker 8: lay the points.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Packers both ways as well.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: I think that Jordan Love I he's I wanted to
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: like Jordan Love from the Summerduce and then he played
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: poorly to start the season, but now he's starting to
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: come around, and I think I'm all over the place
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: with Jordan Love.
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: I don't know if I like him. When the guy
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: plays eight games, that's not the end of his career.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: I just don't know what to think about.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: Well, I'm back in.
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: He's told me back.
- 1:55:33Speaker 7: I felt sporadic when we were there, Like he would
- 1:55:35Speaker 7: make some throws like whoa, and then he would have
- 1:55:37Speaker 7: some brain farts.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: But part of the process.
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: I'm going to take Green Bay, but I'm going to
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: take the six and a half. Okay, Monday night game
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: MetLife Stadium. They've played a little better, They've showed some giants. Yeah,
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: they've They've won a couple in a row. They had
- 1:55:50Speaker 4: to buy. I think they keep it close.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: Okay, one of those was Patriots, but anyway, I left
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: that part out. Yeah, I'm going to call the Felger fact.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Packers both ways, all right,
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: now we go back to Thursday, way back, do we
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: have to? Thursday eight fifteen on Prime video? H two
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: and ten Patriots are at the seven and five Steeler.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna imagine Mitchell Trubisky is your quarterback? Yes, yes, correct?
- 1:56:17Speaker 4: The Steelers by six six?
- 1:56:22Speaker 8: Yeah, that's enough.
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: I'm nothing.
- 1:56:24Speaker 7: Now I'm gonna take the Steelers. I just I think
- 1:56:26Speaker 7: they've got, you know, a slightly better quarterback.
- 1:56:28Speaker 8: For what it's worth, They've got t J.
- 1:56:30Speaker 7: Watt, They've got just more talent and you know, just
- 1:56:33Speaker 7: on the road, tough spot to play. I will so
- 1:56:35Speaker 7: I will take the Steelers. I will lay the points
- 1:56:37Speaker 7: and my score is twenty six.
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: How sad is it that you just said that they
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: have the better quarterback when Mitchell Trubisky is the quarterback
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I look at this game from
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: the Patriots offense, and I can Bill O'Brien like earn
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: his paycheck this week? Can we do that? Because the
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: Steelers defense really highly rated, got a lot of really
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: good play, really really predictable scheme like they run what
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: they run they always have under Tomlin. It's different from
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: what they used to do, but it's still the same.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: You know what you're gonna get on game day? Can
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: we have a game plan where we get some open
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: guys and get ZAPPI go in a little bit. I
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: still say no, but it would be nice to see
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: the offensive coordinator that you brought in with thirty years
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: of experience do his job at a high level. I
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: worry about the Steelers defensive line.
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: TJ.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: Walla was a little banged up in that game, but
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: I think he's gonna be all right, and that defensive
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: line should take this game over for Pittsburgh. I have
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: thirteen to six and another terrible Yeah.
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: I have a similar kind of game, low scoring. I
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: don't know how you can pick otherwise. The over under Mike,
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: we remember thirty one and a half. It's like the
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: lowest I can ever remember seeing in all my days
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: high Yeah.
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: That's higher than Iowa Michigan.
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: This is just two offenses that have really struggled. I'm
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: gonna take Pittsburgh to win short week at home. I
- 1:58:08Speaker 4: do agree with Mike. I think they have at least
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: some pieces on offense to be a little bit better,
- 1:58:13Speaker 4: and that's the difference. A lot of field goals sixteen to.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: Nine, seven hundred percent improvement for the Patriots this week.
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: But they lose sixteen to seven.
- 1:58:25Speaker 7: Well, this is Thant seven hundred percent of zero still.
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: Zero, Dace, leave him alone. He's on a roll.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: Come I get it. Sixteen to seven? Yeah, unfortunately, touchdown?
- 1:58:38Speaker 8: What's a touchdown?
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: Mike?
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna get a touchdown. And I'm telling you
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: right now, Big Bold.
- 1:58:44Speaker 8: I honestly like I might not to spoil my key,
- 1:58:47Speaker 8: uh defensive score, Like I.
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: Just gonna say, who scores it? Dougar.
- 1:58:50Speaker 8: I'd love to see the defense score.
- 1:58:51Speaker 7: I feel like they would be so fired up, like
- 1:58:53Speaker 7: after all this and how much they'd like, you know,
- 1:58:55Speaker 7: the offense like we today before you.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: What if they what if they scored touchdown and dug
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: Or handed the ball to Bailey's at He's like, that's
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: how it's.
- 1:59:04Speaker 21: Done, before Brandon Schooler gives the ball to Bailey's It's
- 1:59:10Speaker 21: we didn't get the because I realized there's a one
- 1:59:15Speaker 21: minute left. But this is something that I thought that
- 1:59:16Speaker 21: you would agree with me, Paul. The very first thing
- 1:59:21Speaker 21: that Bill Belichick says on Sunday postgame press conference, go Ahead,
- 1:59:25Speaker 21: says they lost the game because they didn't play complimentary football,
- 1:59:29Speaker 21: and they didn't get the field position that they but
- 1:59:32Speaker 21: but they moved the ball.
- 1:59:35Speaker 4: It was noted in post game and fifty yards moving
- 1:59:39Speaker 4: the ball.
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: And then he sits there and he blames the defense
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: and the special teams for not winning field position and
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: that is why you lost the game.
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: Get him out of here, Oh boy, wow, out of here?
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: All right, Mike drop by Evan. All right, that's it
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: for this show. Uh Paul induced to will be back
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: tomorrow because running program director over there, So the show
