- 0:02Speaker 1: College football fans, Welcome back to the College Ball Show.
- 0:07Speaker 1: He's Marshall, I'm Chris, and we're here to talk a
- 0:11Speaker 1: week six that you know, on paper, people were saying, ah, man,
- 0:15Speaker 1: there's not much to get excited about. Sure, you got
- 0:20Speaker 1: Bama and Vandy, and you got you know, the old
- 0:22Speaker 1: rivalry Miami Florida State, you got some you got some matchups,
- 0:26Speaker 1: but overall it's pretty shitty week. And all of a sudden,
- 0:31Speaker 1: we didn't need this reminder, but we got another one.
- 0:34Speaker 1: College football. As far as team sports, the regular season
- 0:39Speaker 1: can't be beat and Week six is just Week six
- 0:44Speaker 1: is another example. Ukola UCLA shocks the world. You know,
- 0:50Speaker 1: we've seen upsets, even more than twenty four and a
- 0:53Speaker 1: half points, we've seen that, but the fact that they
- 0:57Speaker 1: were a no win team and we're losing to like FSC,
- 1:05Speaker 1: you know, like not even FBS teams FC. Yeah, so,
- 1:09Speaker 1: I mean that was shocking. And then you have Texas
- 1:13Speaker 1: going down. I wouldn't say that was shocking, but of
- 1:15Speaker 1: course it was an upset. And then a variety of
- 1:19Speaker 1: other games that we'll talk about. Virginia does it again,
- 1:22Speaker 1: Baylor pulls it off with a kick late case State
- 1:26Speaker 1: almost had a chance at a long field goal since
- 1:29Speaker 1: he holds off Iowa State Miami even though they rally rallied,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Florida State did hold off and get that. You know
- 1:38Speaker 1: five and oh Mark, they are state champs. Now Texas
- 1:44Speaker 1: Tech just keeps the ball rolling. A and M speaking
- 1:47Speaker 1: of they're undefeated. They took care of business. So yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: we're gonna talk it all the way through. And then
- 1:54Speaker 1: we got a really interesting week for week seven, Oregon
- 1:57Speaker 1: hosting Indiana, George at Auburn Bama. We're gonna find out
- 2:02Speaker 1: about Missoubama at number fourteen Missouri Oklahoma Texas. You know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: it sounds like they're gonna go with the backup the Sooners,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but based off the spread, they don't think much of
- 2:19Speaker 1: Texas and arch manning A and M going against Florida.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Florida is hot right now to an extent anyway, in
- 2:27Speaker 1: a variety of other games, Michigan usc Asu at Utah,
- 2:33Speaker 1: Texas Tech with Kansas that should be a shootout. So
- 2:37Speaker 1: we're gonna preview and predict all that. Maybe there's some
- 2:39Speaker 1: upsets in there. Of course, we're gonna give my against
- 2:42Speaker 1: the spread thoughts. There are I have three written down
- 2:46Speaker 1: right now that I've put some down as far as bets,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but overall just kind of eyeballing a couple of these
- 2:53Speaker 1: against the spreads. If this year first time listening to
- 2:57Speaker 1: the College Ball Show, welcome underneath the Ropodope Radio podcast right,

- 3:47Speaker 1: for the first month. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and
- 3:50Speaker 1: bring in my co host Marshall. Marshall first and foremost,
- 3:55Speaker 1: how are you doing on this fine fall day. It's
- 3:59Speaker 1: finally actually feeling a little bit more lightfall up here
- 4:03Speaker 1: up north. But how are you doing my friend and
- 4:06Speaker 1: and you know we're gonna jump into Ukola in Florida
- 4:11Speaker 1: to start things off.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Just see, you know, Hey, I'm I'm I'm doing good. Brother.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Got a nice little competition for a cross country tea tomorrow,
- 4:19Speaker 3: so we'll see how that goes.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And yeah, hey, if you said I.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Got to start the show talking about James Franklin, Okay, yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 3: he's not exactly the top of my Christmas card list.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Uh hey, now I will say twitters like got.
- 4:35Speaker 3: It fired, that I got a fire. I'm like, well,
- 4:38Speaker 3: that's that's I suppose that's the culture we've become. But
- 4:41Speaker 3: this definitely is probably a hard loss for Penn State
- 4:44Speaker 3: fans to swallow.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Not so much they also an unranked team.
- 4:50Speaker 3: But this unranked team who'd been through like the grinder,
- 4:53Speaker 3: like had a coach fired. Their new coach had been
- 4:58Speaker 3: working with the team for two and a half days.
- 5:00Speaker 3: He said this week of practice they did like like
- 5:03Speaker 3: a forty eight hour offensive game plan script like man
- 5:09Speaker 3: and then and like. But people said, that's why you
- 5:11Speaker 3: gotta love college football, where you literally have a team
- 5:13Speaker 3: who's trying to regroup and build their image again with
- 5:18Speaker 3: the young kid that doesn't know any better at coach,
- 5:21Speaker 3: and then you go and knock off a team where
- 5:23Speaker 3: a lot of people think is like a national title contender,
- 5:27Speaker 3: like and just to see the halftime score as like dude.
- 5:31Speaker 1: This, yeah, twenty seven seven seventeen is zero in the
- 5:36Speaker 1: second I was like, what is going on?
- 5:38Speaker 3: And then even you're like, okay, but you know, but
- 5:40Speaker 3: you you we watch off sports on Hey, you.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Flick on the switch. You're good. And Pence they did
- 5:46Speaker 2: rally back, but.
- 5:49Speaker 3: They didn't pitch out and shut and they didn't pitch
- 5:51Speaker 3: shut out in the second half either, So it's like, okay,
- 5:53Speaker 3: could Pence they win the game, sure, but you can't
- 5:56Speaker 3: keep giving up points, which they did.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So I mean, hats off to UCLA that that's a
- 6:03Speaker 2: tremendous upset.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Whatever you think about Penn State, like, dude, that that's
- 6:07Speaker 3: just that is why you love sports. Underdog stories happen.
- 6:10Speaker 3: That's why you can't always bet every favorite, because if
- 6:13Speaker 3: you could better favorite one on your money, I'd be
- 6:15Speaker 3: living in a mansion with a Ferrari.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You know. So it does happen, But that was a
- 6:20Speaker 2: special upset.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I will Stanford, Franklin and a couple other big ten
- 6:27Speaker 3: guys complain about travel. Hey, first of all, it is
- 6:30Speaker 3: what is this is the sport we're in now, Okay,
- 6:34Speaker 3: where people travel because the conferences are crazy, But this
- 6:38Speaker 3: was a greedy money they.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Don't conference, you know.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, but everybody.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Has to travel, so I mean, it is what it is.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yes, and you're not a West Coast school because it's
- 6:49Speaker 3: still at the end of the day, most of the
- 6:50Speaker 3: Big ten conferences are still Midwest or East Coast in general. Okay,
- 6:55Speaker 3: Penn State is not traveling as much as UCLA for sure,
- 7:00Speaker 3: you know.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Sure, so by the way, Oregon traveled to Penn State
- 7:04Speaker 1: not long ago, right.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so that the traveling car not to me.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I think that's I don't that's not a fair excuse
- 7:10Speaker 3: because everyone has to do it. And again, you live
- 7:12Speaker 3: in a school where you're still not traveling often. So
- 7:15Speaker 3: I'm not gonna buy that. But maybe I'm sure they
- 7:18Speaker 3: did overlook them. Again, Ucilla's looked pretty bad this year. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 3: but if you're a pretty bad team, you can't you can't.
- 7:25Speaker 3: You shouldn't be able to sneak up on someone get
- 7:27Speaker 3: up twenty seven to seven. So obviously the the Drew
- 7:31Speaker 3: Aller gonna be the number one pick. Talk a few
- 7:34Speaker 3: weeks ago like that that Tokland's really crazy right now.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But hey, man, Franklin, Like again, he comes off as
- 7:41Speaker 3: a very confident individual. And again I'm not saying you
- 7:44Speaker 3: inspire the guy, because even I'm as a James Franklin
- 7:48Speaker 3: hater club, you know, I think that'd be crazy. But
- 7:50Speaker 3: that's a tough loss to swallow because Roman, you don't
- 7:52Speaker 3: see fan base to lose your mind that much. But
- 7:55Speaker 3: I I think I think Chris upsets do happen, which
- 7:59Speaker 3: is part of collegeball that we love. But I think
- 8:01Speaker 3: the UCLA year prior to this makes the upset like
- 8:05Speaker 3: five times worse.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Is that fair? Like there's a little extra sauce in that,
- 8:08Speaker 2: like what just happened.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Maybe it's because not so much the year Penn States have,
- 8:13Speaker 3: but how bad UCLA has been up into this day.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Well that's the thing. They they had They played non
- 8:21Speaker 1: FBS teams and lost, you know they so yeah, I
- 8:25Speaker 1: think that is they've lost the non power teams two
- 8:29Speaker 1: of them, I think three of them maybe, I mean
- 8:32Speaker 1: it's that was the problem.
- 8:33Speaker 2: You know.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, we've seen higher than twenty four and
- 8:37Speaker 1: a half upsets, you know, and we're gonna see.
- 8:39Speaker 2: The USC Stanford one was forty one and a half
- 8:45Speaker 2: or so.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So, I mean we've seen that, but it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: the optics. It is the optics that it's one thing
- 8:55Speaker 1: to be, you know, a twenty four and a half
- 8:59Speaker 1: point favorite, but it's another thing to face a team
- 9:02Speaker 1: that hasn't won. And you know, I can understand early
- 9:05Speaker 1: in that game the fact that they came with a
- 9:09Speaker 1: complete new, different offensive structure, you know, so I can
- 9:13Speaker 1: understand like not playing your best. There were people talking
- 9:17Speaker 1: about going into the game that don't be surprised if
- 9:21Speaker 1: Penn State comes out flat a little bit then gets
- 9:23Speaker 1: it together. Sure, I'm willing to accept some of that,
- 9:27Speaker 1: but once you just can't let it go that crazy,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you know, like you said, he can't be down twenty
- 9:36Speaker 1: and in Nico though, I'll give him credit, he had
- 9:38Speaker 1: five total touchdowns, had a buck twenty eight on the ground,
- 9:42Speaker 1: had a fifty two yard or as far as rushing,
- 9:45Speaker 1: did okay, through the pass or whatever, you know, Drew
- 9:47Speaker 1: Allard wasn't actually the problem in this one, to be
- 9:50Speaker 1: honest with you, But I'm not saying he had a
- 9:52Speaker 1: great game but he didn't have a bad game. But
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, Penn State's best thing is like running the
- 9:58Speaker 1: ball and playing defense. And like I said, I'm willing
- 10:01Speaker 1: to let a quarter quarter and a half go of
- 10:04Speaker 1: Like okay, these are plays they haven't even put on tape.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It is what it is. You know, you're gonna give
- 10:09Speaker 1: up something. Nico can do something right, but that stops
- 10:13Speaker 1: at a point, you know, like you can't so you know,
- 10:17Speaker 1: for them to just somehow win the game, it still
- 10:21Speaker 1: would have been a head scratcher. But yeah, it's the optics.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And it's basically if you're talking ap top ten while
- 10:28Speaker 1: a team was zero to four or worse. It's only
- 10:31Speaker 1: happened for the fifth time now. The pit Pit did
- 10:35Speaker 1: it in nineteen forty one, per Due did it in
- 10:39Speaker 1: nineteen fifty three, two Lane did it in nineteen fifty eight,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and the last time it was done was UTEP against
- 10:47Speaker 1: seven BYU nineteen eighty five. So it's yeah, it's been
- 10:53Speaker 1: a long long time since that's happened. So yeah, it
- 10:56Speaker 1: is the optics. That's just the bottom line where you
- 10:59Speaker 1: just like and I think Nico also became the first
- 11:02Speaker 1: Bruin in thirty years to have three rushing touchdowns and
- 11:05Speaker 1: two passing in a game, So it shouts out to him.
- 11:09Speaker 1: He had a good game and they had a good
- 11:11Speaker 1: game plan. And I'm not taking anything away from you know,
- 11:16Speaker 1: not covering the spread. That had been fine. I could
- 11:19Speaker 1: totally see that happening. But to lose this game, and
- 11:21Speaker 1: you wonder, like they have to I think to not
- 11:26Speaker 1: lose some transfers to come at the end of the year,
- 11:29Speaker 1: since they had so many guys come back that could
- 11:31Speaker 1: have went pro. They're gonna lose guys in the in
- 11:34Speaker 1: the end of the year. And so that was gonna
- 11:38Speaker 1: happen anyway. So I don't think they were gonna be
- 11:40Speaker 1: quote unquote as good of a team next year. They
- 11:44Speaker 1: just weren't. But they really got to contain this and
- 11:49Speaker 1: whether it's upsetting Ohio State now that the pressure's off,
- 11:52Speaker 1: or beating Indiana and just having a really solid season. Still, yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 1: the nine wins like it, you kind of got to
- 12:00Speaker 1: do that because if you go eight and four or
- 12:02Speaker 1: even worse, Yeah, I could see some young talent go
- 12:06Speaker 1: elsewhere potentially, and then next year becomes even tougher. So yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: that was that was a horrible loss. And once again.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You know, I lined it up last week about Ohio
- 12:19Speaker 1: State and Day and how they were having problems. You know,
- 12:22Speaker 1: they have problems with Michigan and whatever, but they were
- 12:25Speaker 1: at the doorstep of national champions, you know, and so
- 12:29Speaker 1: in last year losing to Michigan who actually by the
- 12:32Speaker 1: end of the year were a little better than they
- 12:34Speaker 1: had started the year, you know, because remember they beat Bamatu.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It's still not what Ukula was, you know, it's not
- 12:44Speaker 1: even close. So this is a horrible loss, and it's
- 12:48Speaker 1: one that you wonder if it's gonna mark a period
- 12:50Speaker 1: of time where they it started to turn on them.
- 12:54Speaker 1: So we'll see, we'll see.
- 12:56Speaker 3: They got to run the table now to make the
- 12:58Speaker 3: playoffs because this art or.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Maybe you lose, maybe make the playoff.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, this is because of that bad loss.
- 13:07Speaker 3: You know, like this would have Notre Dame last year
- 13:10Speaker 3: with Northern Illinois, but maybe probably worse.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah, right, But to your point, though, they didn't have
- 13:18Speaker 1: an Ohio State and they didn't have Indiana highly two
- 13:22Speaker 1: top ten teams well the top team to win those
- 13:26Speaker 1: games too, so you know, maybe theoretically they could sneak
- 13:30Speaker 1: in the back door. Maybe, but yeah, who knows. It's
- 13:36Speaker 1: tough to say, but yeah, I don't know. I just
- 13:39Speaker 1: don't see him beating both Ohio State in the in
- 13:42Speaker 1: Indiana as well. That's just too tough in my opinion.
- 13:46Speaker 1: But seasons long, you know, we'll see a lot of
- 13:49Speaker 1: people think Ohio State and Oregon will be unefeated. Obviously
- 13:53Speaker 1: we'll talk about Oregon against Indiana and whatnot. Okay, so
- 13:59Speaker 1: the Florida Gators, their defense has been legit, they've kept
- 14:03Speaker 1: in kept him in games. Their offense hasn't been that good.
- 14:07Speaker 1: They haven't been able to run the ball. DJ has
- 14:10Speaker 1: been very inconsistent. Well, they put it all together against
- 14:14Speaker 1: Texas Man and they they struck early and often, and
- 14:20Speaker 1: they just they played up to their potential. You know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: there's plenty of great you know, sports minds in our call,
- 14:28Speaker 1: you know, our great college I can't talk right now,
- 14:31Speaker 1: our great sport of college football that we're really high
- 14:34Speaker 1: on Florida. But we always knew their schedule was just dreadful,
- 14:38Speaker 1: just so not dreadful like it sucked either, like it was.
- 14:41Speaker 1: It's just a nightmare schedule. So even if they were
- 14:44Speaker 1: nine to three, we would say, hey, that that should
- 14:48Speaker 1: probably get them in as long as they don't have
- 14:51Speaker 1: bad losses or whatever, but they've had a really tough schedule.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It's not going anywhere, but uh you know, credit to
- 14:59Speaker 1: Napier keep everything together and they they got the job done.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And then you start to look at Texas and oh wow, man,
- 15:06Speaker 1: what's going on over there in Austin.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I I I literally think that the hype was too high.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Maybe it's because I live in Texas. I worked with
- 15:16Speaker 2: some Longhorn fans obviously help one of the guys I were.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Though, You're right, it was a hell real high.
- 15:23Speaker 3: And one of the guys that played with actually the
- 15:25Speaker 3: really good dudes. I really don't talk much ship, but
- 15:27Speaker 3: he played for UT so you know, he would definitely
- 15:31Speaker 3: beat me up. He's alignment, so I don't I don't
- 15:32Speaker 3: remember mouth too.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Much, but.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but he thinks, yeah, he's I flash horned. Downs
- 15:40Speaker 3: in't done for a couple of weeks now, but uh so,
- 15:44Speaker 3: But the arch Manning hype was just a bit high.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I do think that when with the way you see him,
- 15:50Speaker 3: the way you saw him play against Ohio State, it
- 15:52Speaker 3: was kind.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Of okay, like, you know, that's a tough game on
- 15:54Speaker 2: the road. Ohio State's really good. We'll see what happens.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but but then the hype, you know, you haven't
- 16:01Speaker 3: really seen him flex and besides the Sam Houston game
- 16:04Speaker 3: where he's literally flexing a guy in Taunton, and you know,
- 16:08Speaker 3: now you see him play, you see him play Florida
- 16:13Speaker 3: and again the playing.
- 16:15Speaker 2: A good defense.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Again, he strugg what he just he wasn't the top
- 16:19Speaker 3: dog they expect out of him, you know, but I
- 16:21Speaker 3: think this was just the media again a little too hot.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And you know now they've lost their last yeah, so
- 16:31Speaker 3: you know, I just he's not there yet. Could he
- 16:34Speaker 3: be a great quarterback next year, for sure, but it's
- 16:37Speaker 3: not coming this year. And I did see one of
- 16:40Speaker 3: my friends told me work, they're like, damn. I saw
- 16:42Speaker 3: some people on Twitter saying sorry, call you an apology
- 16:45Speaker 3: for saying we should have started him over yours last year.
- 16:48Speaker 3: You know, now yours maybe he doesn't have the ceiling
- 16:51Speaker 3: arch does, but yours was pre reliable.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Man.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I've had Texas went my youwers back for another year.
- 16:58Speaker 3: So but hey, realistically, we to flip it out into Florida.
- 17:03Speaker 3: That defense has been working their ass off the whole year.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I'm not a Gator fan, but I'll sound like one
- 17:08Speaker 3: here for a few minutes. Defense has been playing great.
- 17:10Speaker 3: They've stuck in all their games. The LSU one was
- 17:13Speaker 3: a tough one to swallow because the defense played good,
- 17:16Speaker 3: like Florida's defense been hanging in there. They've been doing
- 17:18Speaker 3: their part. So it's gotta be a good kind of
- 17:21Speaker 3: good locker room win for them. And it's being up quarterbacks.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Legwe actually played pretty well twenty one. For twenty eight,
- 17:28Speaker 3: he was two yards short of three hundred two touchdowns.
- 17:32Speaker 2: One pick.
- 17:32Speaker 3: You know, it wasn't the five picks like he had
- 17:35Speaker 3: Verse Ellis.
- 17:35Speaker 2: He was one pick.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And Florida's offense actually had a little rhythm to it.
- 17:39Speaker 3: They actually looked like they were confidently moving the ball.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah, really well too.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:45Speaker 3: And to be up nineteen to seven and a half times,
- 17:48Speaker 3: they had to feel like being up thirty just because hey,
- 17:51Speaker 3: defense is playing.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Good, we have a lead, like, well, let's wow.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Like it had to be a different mindset, Chris, and again,
- 17:58Speaker 3: not a Gator fan. I was growing up like when
- 18:01Speaker 3: I was like ten or eleven with Spurer was there.
- 18:03Speaker 3: But being a coach man, I'm happy for billion a
- 18:07Speaker 3: pier that dude's been in.
- 18:08Speaker 2: A tough spot.
- 18:09Speaker 3: He literally almost anyone in the country be struggling like him,
- 18:12Speaker 3: because the schedule you've had now for two years ago
- 18:14Speaker 3: is probably the toughest two year combined schedule in the
- 18:16Speaker 3: whole country. And yeah, I've never met the guy, but
- 18:20Speaker 3: seems to be an alright dude from that TV show
- 18:22Speaker 3: and watching him. And you needed that win, man, because
- 18:26Speaker 3: every time you lose, people want you fired.
- 18:28Speaker 2: You have an ungodly.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Difficult schedule, so to be able to pull off a win, hey,
- 18:33Speaker 3: let's take a deep breath now, you still got a
- 18:35Speaker 3: hard game. Now are going to Kyle Field, but that
- 18:38Speaker 3: had to feel good for the Florida locker room to
- 18:40Speaker 3: build off of. And if you're Texas, man, now your
- 18:42Speaker 3: playoff chances are starting to dwindle because you now got
- 18:46Speaker 3: two l's like Penn State does. And I'm not saying
- 18:48Speaker 3: they won't be able to get more bigger wins compared
- 18:50Speaker 3: like Penn State. But still is this quarterback, man, He's
- 18:53Speaker 3: gonna win you a big game versus the top tier
- 18:56Speaker 3: point that I don't know if we can believe in
- 18:58Speaker 3: that yet.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Chris.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting, and you know I think that even
- 19:06Speaker 1: though they've been recruiting really well. They are young and inexperienced,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and that's just the bottom line. Maybe people don't want
- 19:12Speaker 1: to hear that, but Texas, remember are they back? Are
- 19:17Speaker 1: they back? With last two times they've made the semi finals, right,
- 19:22Speaker 1: and they've been close in those semifinal games two years ago.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Pennix was just just going perfect rainbow shots in those games,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you know, So, I mean they were knocking on the
- 19:34Speaker 1: door twice in a row, and so that was kind
- 19:37Speaker 1: of like where the you know, he built it up
- 19:40Speaker 1: and then it peaked and that was the peak right there. Now,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, next year they definitely could be better.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You know.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, So I think people kind of just assume, and
- 19:53Speaker 1: we were saying that last year, like dude Archie, Yeah,
- 19:55Speaker 1: we'll see. But like the current quarterback's good man. He
- 19:59Speaker 1: was just up so he didn't play as well at times.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But they did make it very far in those two years,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and they just didn't get over the hump and that's
- 20:07Speaker 1: all it was. And so now they got to kind
- 20:08Speaker 1: of reload but also retool, and they're really young, and
- 20:13Speaker 1: so I don't think it's the end of the world now,
- 20:16Speaker 1: Okay at Texas, good old Sark is two and eight
- 20:21Speaker 1: against top ten teams.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Okay, hey, that's James Franklin territory.
- 20:26Speaker 1: What's that.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That's a James Franklinish record.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Well, I'm not done yet. He but all time, just him,
- 20:33Speaker 1: because you know he was at USC as well. He's
- 20:37Speaker 1: five of eighteen versus top ten teams. So once again,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know, have I have I heard that stat before?
- 20:46Speaker 1: I haven't. I've never heard that stat. No, And last
- 20:49Speaker 1: week we mentioned another stat too. Now that's not to
- 20:51Speaker 1: say these are bad coaches or anything like that, but
- 20:55Speaker 1: let's just keep everything in perspective. When we go ahead
- 20:59Speaker 1: and talk about certain coaches and certain teams and certain
- 21:03Speaker 1: and whatever. It's tough to like, the more top tens,
- 21:07Speaker 1: the more opportunity you know, you face, the more opportunity
- 21:09Speaker 1: you get it. But if you face two or three
- 21:11Speaker 1: in one season, that's it's tough, dude. But you should
- 21:14Speaker 1: go one in three, right something like that at least. Yeah, so,
- 21:18Speaker 1: but yeah, it is tough. But yeah, man, I just
- 21:21Speaker 1: think it's not their year and I thought they'd be better.
- 21:25Speaker 1: But when you when you add up how many people
- 21:28Speaker 1: they've lost in the last two years and what kind
- 21:30Speaker 1: of run they made, you know now that we're here
- 21:33Speaker 1: week seven, it kind of makes sense that that's where
- 21:36Speaker 1: they're at, you know.
- 21:38Speaker 3: But but I would say, if you asked a Texas fan,
- 21:41Speaker 3: this is a discipline year so far, because expectations were sky.
- 21:45Speaker 1: High, of course, but you know, in the reality of it,
- 21:49Speaker 1: you know it, they shouldn't.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Have been sky high. You know that's fair, Yeah, but
- 21:54Speaker 2: I agree.
- 21:54Speaker 1: It should I I made a bet thinking they go
- 21:57Speaker 1: ten to two this year, so you know who will
- 21:59Speaker 1: not because I thought they had a tab lighter of
- 22:02Speaker 1: a schedule like they did last year. Not as light,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but lighter, you know. Sure, So I'll admit to that too.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But when you start to think, because I remember him
- 22:11Speaker 1: saying in the preseason, like the thing is, we lost
- 22:15Speaker 1: a lot of guys, but now I got a lot
- 22:16Speaker 1: of my guys, you know, and it's like that's true,
- 22:19Speaker 1: but they're inexperience, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So anyway,
- 22:24Speaker 1: but I did see some things from Arch that I
- 22:27Speaker 1: liked in this game. I'll say that a couple of
- 22:30Speaker 1: times where I'm like, Okay, Arch, let's see if you
- 22:33Speaker 1: can bring that into the rest of the season and
- 22:35Speaker 1: next year and see where you're at. But he also
- 22:37Speaker 1: you know, forced some stuff where you just didn't need
- 22:41Speaker 1: to do that. Let's move on to Vandy in Alabama
- 22:50Speaker 1: started out really good. I mean that touchdown run. You
- 22:53Speaker 1: know they get down there, have an Alabama has a
- 22:55Speaker 1: nice drive, eight play drive, forty six yards pick. They
- 22:58Speaker 1: also had a seven forty eight yards miss field goal
- 23:03Speaker 1: and you know, like that touchdown that they scored, it's
- 23:08Speaker 1: seven zero. It's kind of looking like, man, this is uh,
- 23:15Speaker 1: this looks awfully familiar. But they did get in the
- 23:19Speaker 1: red zone again Vandy, and it could have been up
- 23:22Speaker 1: fourteen zip or maybe ten zip. And they did fumble
- 23:26Speaker 1: and killer that was a killer and also a pick later.
- 23:31Speaker 1: So they had two turnovers in the red zone, which
- 23:33Speaker 1: you obviously can't do, and you know, two field goals
- 23:38Speaker 1: in the third and then they added another field goal
- 23:42Speaker 1: and then a touchdown. They had a turnover on downs
- 23:44Speaker 1: late Vandy did, but a pick in the red zone
- 23:47Speaker 1: and then a twelve play turnover run downs. They only
- 23:50Speaker 1: got fourteen yards out of that twelve play drive. The
- 23:55Speaker 1: way that Alabama the passing game was legit. They ran,
- 24:02Speaker 1: they ran just enough and the way they shut down
- 24:05Speaker 1: I think it was like ten or twenty yards rushing
- 24:08Speaker 1: in the second half of Vandy and they came in
- 24:11Speaker 1: running that you know what, the ball. So I was really,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I like what I see out of this young quarterback
- 24:17Speaker 1: Ty Simpson. Twenty three completions, three hundred and four yards,
- 24:22Speaker 1: three hundred and forty yards, you know, so that they're
- 24:26Speaker 1: getting their pass game going again. Uh. And like I
- 24:29Speaker 1: said that John Miller twenty two carries buck thirty six.
- 24:33Speaker 1: That's pretty damn good they contained. I mean, they only
- 24:36Speaker 1: ran the ball for carries anyway, nineteen times. That's really
- 24:41Speaker 1: low for Vandy for a buck thirty five. So seven
- 24:44Speaker 1: point one a clip is nice. But they they weren't
- 24:47Speaker 1: allowed to keep it like that like they you know,
- 24:50Speaker 1: last year. It was like I think they had like
- 24:52Speaker 1: thirty nine or forty minutes you know of time up.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Is that shit?
- 24:56Speaker 1: So sixteen to zero in the second half, Bama got
- 25:02Speaker 1: the job done, man, and Vandy will have to recoup
- 25:06Speaker 1: and get back on their winning ways if they want
- 25:09Speaker 1: to keep the momentum that they had prior into this
- 25:12Speaker 1: game keep going.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So I could just kind of go off your your
- 25:18Speaker 3: wings here and like count Banbama. We've done that probably
- 25:21Speaker 3: a thousand times in this podcast. So I'm gonna just
- 25:23Speaker 3: take a little different spin. Just like for Vandy's program,
- 25:28Speaker 3: this is one of those like moral victories, like if
- 25:30Speaker 3: you look at where they've become till now, you actually
- 25:33Speaker 3: went toe to toe with Bama in a competitive game.
- 25:36Speaker 3: So just like who thought you'd say that shit? Like
- 25:40Speaker 3: last year, I really do think that when they beat
- 25:43Speaker 3: Alabama that was kind of like a turning stone for
- 25:46Speaker 3: that coach Clark, who appears to be a pretty good dude,
- 25:48Speaker 3: and Pabya is just fun. Qardback to watch and you
- 25:50Speaker 3: went to Tuscaloosa and if it wasn't for kind of
- 25:53Speaker 3: a late fluky touchdown, you lost by nine points. So
- 25:56Speaker 3: I guess my perception of this was the fact that, dude,
- 26:00Speaker 3: Vandy's actually a legit football team, Like I do think
- 26:03Speaker 3: they're going into that game. Yes, Bama had played Georgia,
- 26:05Speaker 3: but hey, if PAVI is talking ship, hey if we
- 26:08Speaker 3: if we run our game, we're gonna win. I'm just
- 26:12Speaker 3: impressed to think that. I think Vandy was probably could
- 26:17Speaker 3: have blown out because I'm sure Bam was pissed about
- 26:19Speaker 3: what happened last year. So I'm just kind of impressed,
- 26:22Speaker 3: like they had the they have a ranking next to
- 26:24Speaker 3: him and like this is your there.
- 26:26Speaker 2: They're no longer the.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Doormat the SEC, which just it says something. So I
- 26:32Speaker 3: was just surprised, Chris that they actually hung in there
- 26:35Speaker 3: with him at the Lion of scrimmage and as a team.
- 26:37Speaker 2: But the their main.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Ship talker, their leader, Pavia do two awful turnovers. If
- 26:44Speaker 3: he doesn't have those, I'm not sure who wins the game. Yeah,
- 26:48Speaker 3: because definitely you know, yeah, and that one turnover his
- 26:54Speaker 3: first fumble. If if his knee goes down to split
- 26:57Speaker 3: second sooner, it's probably ten zero. And that again, the
- 27:01Speaker 3: score kind of taints that one a little bit because
- 27:04Speaker 3: Vandy had the ball like three or four times down six,
- 27:07Speaker 3: trying to score to get up on the lead, and
- 27:09Speaker 3: he threw a really bad red zone pick. So hey,
- 27:10Speaker 3: if you're gonna run your mouth, you gotta on it
- 27:12Speaker 3: too when you suck. So I'll give him world victory.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Pave had to play a little bit better, and he didn't.
- 27:19Speaker 3: I do think the tie STIPs in the Love for
- 27:20Speaker 3: Me is a bit high, but he played better quarterback
- 27:23Speaker 3: than Pavia. And to wrap it up, Chrisy made a
- 27:26Speaker 3: great point and I heard the announcers this, I will
- 27:29Speaker 3: agree with him on They harped the whole show about
- 27:32Speaker 3: how Alabama wants to control the time possession because time
- 27:35Speaker 3: of possession last year and Dandy was forty to twenty.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Bama almost flipped it. Dude, We're not gonna let Vandy.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Run on us the whole game. We're gonna control the run.
- 27:47Speaker 3: And Bama almost went back to that Nick Saban pro
- 27:49Speaker 3: style run run run.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Bama had lots.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Of four to five yard runs where okay, this is
- 27:55Speaker 3: nothing flashy, like where is this like chucking down the
- 27:58Speaker 3: field with the receivers they got. Didn't see it that much.
- 28:01Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, a win's a win.
- 28:04Speaker 3: They execute their game plan. Danny did it, but it's
- 28:06Speaker 3: just a punkin watching.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Dude.
- 28:08Speaker 3: In six weeks, I'll be in Tuscaloosa. Dude, that that
- 28:12Speaker 3: that that football field looks fun? You know me, I
- 28:14Speaker 3: much love sports. For my first ever SEC football game,
- 28:17Speaker 3: I think I'm gonna be in a in a fun arena.
- 28:19Speaker 3: That's gonna be a good time.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that stadium is is definitely Uh just that just
- 28:24Speaker 1: the environment in general. Uh in the SEC.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I guess I've learned they don't call them pomp poms.
- 28:32Speaker 3: They call them shakers. There's no pompoms were in Tusco.
- 28:35Speaker 3: They have red and white shakers. Chris, Just so you know,
- 28:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna do my homework before I go out to
- 28:39Speaker 3: tuscalusif' I'm gonna get a shaker, not a pom pom.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Nice, Okay, interesting so that I think that's only the South,
- 28:47Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure the rest of the country calls
- 28:49Speaker 1: the pom poms. I love that. I love h I
- 28:53Speaker 1: love learning that type of thing. You know what else
- 28:55Speaker 1: I love? I love when Miami is the state champion. Okay,
- 29:01Speaker 1: what a segue. Yeah, Florida state dominant three quarters, up
- 29:07Speaker 1: twenty eight to three. They did get ugly nineteen points
- 29:12Speaker 1: unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Some of it, well,
- 29:17Speaker 1: a lot of it. Well, I don't want to I
- 29:19Speaker 1: don't want to take away from a Florida stated in
- 29:21Speaker 1: the fourth quarter like they didn't do anything, because they did.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But some of it definitely was on both sides of
- 29:28Speaker 1: the ball, whether it was stalling a drive on offense
- 29:31Speaker 1: from a penalty. They had some personal falls out of
- 29:34Speaker 1: bounce penalties. They're just silly stuff. I think they gave
- 29:38Speaker 1: like forty yards in the fourth quarter forty five yards
- 29:40Speaker 1: something like that of penalties to them, so they got
- 29:44Speaker 1: a little sloppy, you know. To close out the game,
- 29:50Speaker 1: they went you know, usually crystal Ball's to conservative. Well
- 29:53Speaker 1: this time he was a risk taker and the play
- 29:55Speaker 1: they drew up was gonna was gonna close the game,
- 30:00Speaker 1: but the lineman bumped into the receiver and it messed
- 30:04Speaker 1: up the timing. Otherwise, like I said, it would have
- 30:06Speaker 1: been a big play. But yeah, just sloppy fourth quarter.
- 30:11Speaker 1: It definitely, you know, they're not in peak form yet.
- 30:15Speaker 1: They're still improving overall. But I want to give credit
- 30:19Speaker 1: to Tommy, you know, the quarterback dude. He there was
- 30:23Speaker 1: a nineteen play drive where I think it was three
- 30:26Speaker 1: fourth downs that he converted. He started doing some stuff
- 30:29Speaker 1: where you're like, now, don't get me wrong, he takes risks.
- 30:33Speaker 1: He's a gambler. You know. He either throws a deep
- 30:35Speaker 1: ball in the coverage where you're like, why in the
- 30:37Speaker 1: world did you do that? And then other times will
- 30:40Speaker 1: scramble and it's just a tough competitor man. So I
- 30:42Speaker 1: want to give him a little credit there. They did
- 30:45Speaker 1: make a rally and they should get credit for that.
- 30:49Speaker 1: They tried an early on sides kicked that they almost
- 30:52Speaker 1: got when you didn't necessarily need the on side kick.
- 30:57Speaker 1: We could have kicked a field goal, but I didn't
- 30:58Speaker 1: mind going for it on four down where we were
- 31:00Speaker 1: in the field, And like I said, the play that
- 31:04Speaker 1: they schemed up would have closed the game. So something
- 31:08Speaker 1: to kind of move on past and say, hey, you
- 31:13Speaker 1: know we want it. But even the locker room and
- 31:15Speaker 1: in the way players after the game talked in the
- 31:18Speaker 1: press conference knowing that they could have put that game
- 31:21Speaker 1: out in you know what happened, I would say to
- 31:23Speaker 1: a lesser extent, but it still happened in the Notre
- 31:27Speaker 1: Dame game too, So I think that they can keep
- 31:31Speaker 1: learning how to finish games. But man like Reuben Bain
- 31:37Speaker 1: eleven pressures and that was like a few more than
- 31:41Speaker 1: the whole floor State defense. And when you look at
- 31:44Speaker 1: it right through six weeks, the highest pressure rate without
- 31:51Speaker 1: blitzing in the FBS, you have Miami, Ohio State, Utah, Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisville,
- 31:57Speaker 1: pitt Washington State, US Texas Tech, and Washington. But Miami
- 32:02Speaker 1: leads the country without blitzing getting pressure. So yeah, it
- 32:08Speaker 1: wasn't a perfect game to close for three quarters. Man,
- 32:11Speaker 1: it was nasty twenty eighth to three. But uh, you
- 32:15Speaker 1: know the combination of both offensive defense making sloppy mistakes
- 32:20Speaker 1: and then giving credit to Florida and I do. I
- 32:24Speaker 1: don't mind the plus six and a half that I
- 32:26Speaker 1: ended up winning in that game, so I'll take it.
- 32:29Speaker 1: But yeah, it just sucks. Now they had a bye
- 32:32Speaker 1: last week they played Florida State. Now they have another
- 32:34Speaker 1: buy And we talked about this before I hit record. Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: it'll probably help them against Louisville. It's a Friday night
- 32:42Speaker 1: game in two weeks at home, so it'll probably help
- 32:47Speaker 1: the letdown spot. But man, theoretically, if they do make
- 32:52Speaker 1: the a C. Now, theoretically long season still, we're only
- 32:56Speaker 1: in October, but if they make the ACC Championship, that'll
- 32:59Speaker 1: be their eighth straight week playing. We know, once you
- 33:02Speaker 1: get up in that six seven eight range, you know,
- 33:05Speaker 1: for college students, it's not like the pros. There's a
- 33:08Speaker 1: reason why you got to be in college for three years,
- 33:11Speaker 1: you know, so that could come back to bite them.
- 33:14Speaker 1: And I just don't understand how that schedule, like, you know,
- 33:20Speaker 1: you could get an early buye if you play in
- 33:23Speaker 1: week zero, A lot of teams take a buye the
- 33:25Speaker 1: very next week or something, but to have two buys
- 33:29Speaker 1: in three weeks, it's just silly. I just don't understand
- 33:32Speaker 1: that schedule. But they're looking pretty damn good so far,
- 33:36Speaker 1: my friend.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and I agree with everything you said. You summ
- 33:41Speaker 3: that up nicely again. My biggest thing to them about
- 33:44Speaker 3: them has been how freaking good their dns are.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Like, they're just nasty. They make offensive lifes hell.
- 33:50Speaker 3: And when you don't have to blitz linebackers to pressure
- 33:54Speaker 3: a quarterback, holy shit, that makes your defensive second ary
- 33:57Speaker 3: is so much more effective because most teams have to
- 33:59Speaker 3: blitz five or six guys total, and then you have
- 34:02Speaker 3: to have less people cover. If you can get rushers
- 34:05Speaker 3: off the edge of rushing four do that, that makes
- 34:08Speaker 3: that quarterback's life a lot more difficult. Uh to flip
- 34:11Speaker 3: conferences quickly, just the combo two up. Hey, Texas Tech.
- 34:15Speaker 3: I haven't seen them play much this year. I did
- 34:18Speaker 3: think they actually pretty slopping the first quarter. But that
- 34:22Speaker 3: defense is legit, Like I only we've ever said Texas
- 34:26Speaker 3: Tech has a legit defense. But you shut down Utah
- 34:31Speaker 3: at Utah, which is hard to do. Houston's offense had
- 34:34Speaker 3: been playing really good balls so far this year. You
- 34:36Speaker 3: embarrass them. This Texas Tech team, I know, we've kind
- 34:40Speaker 3: of they've been assembled. They kind of got some boosters
- 34:43Speaker 3: out there helping them out. But their defense is good.
- 34:46Speaker 3: The quarterback and wide receivers have some playmakers. I do
- 34:48Speaker 3: think they were kind of sleepwalking that first quarter. I'm
- 34:50Speaker 3: being a little nitpicky because I had some money on
- 34:52Speaker 3: the game, but they still came through for me. But
- 34:54Speaker 3: you can tell they're they're taking it their their foot
- 34:56Speaker 3: was not fully on the gas. But hats off to them.
- 34:59Speaker 3: You walk into Hughes who was four and oh and
- 35:01Speaker 3: beat them easily thirty five eleven and Iowa State again,
- 35:06Speaker 3: I'm a little harsher on them than I probably most
- 35:08Speaker 3: people are, but they Hey, they finally slipped up a
- 35:11Speaker 3: little bit.
- 35:11Speaker 2: It's not an embarrassing loss.
- 35:12Speaker 3: They actually were an underdog on the road despite being ranked.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Iowa State gets down thirty one to fifteen and a
- 35:20Speaker 3: half time. Cincinnati, who's four and one, maybe could get
- 35:24Speaker 3: ranked soon. Okay a knocks off Iowa State. Now I
- 35:27Speaker 3: for Iowa State, Hey, you're still in the run for
- 35:29Speaker 3: the Big twelve. You're still sitting good. You've had a
- 35:32Speaker 3: couple of tough games. You've actually had a pretty challenging
- 35:34Speaker 3: schedule so far this year. Yeah, with case, stay with Iowa.
- 35:38Speaker 3: You know, they they've been playing a pretty decent row
- 35:40Speaker 3: of opponents, but they slipped up a little bit in Sincy.
- 35:45Speaker 3: And since he's credit, this is the first big win
- 35:47Speaker 3: they've had probably since like Desmond Ritter and guys have
- 35:50Speaker 3: kind of left that town with new coaches. So a
- 35:52Speaker 3: nice job for them. So Texas Tech guns up. Hey,
- 35:56Speaker 3: they're still winning their five and oh, Iowa State one, hiccup?
- 35:59Speaker 3: You still want to come two in a row?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Now, Chris, where did that Cincinnati coach go? Oh? That's right, Wisconsin,
- 36:06Speaker 1: that's right. I forgot about that. They're owing to in
- 36:09Speaker 1: the Big Ten. Michigan pulls away in the second half.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Underwood had a pretty damn good game, and he's coming
- 36:16Speaker 1: around for a true freshman. And that Haines they got
- 36:19Speaker 1: from Alabama. He's had one hundred one hundred yards in
- 36:23Speaker 1: each game. So they're they're the last few weeks, you know,
- 36:27Speaker 1: starting with that Nebraska game. As far as playing good teams,
- 36:32Speaker 1: they got back to what they are and what they've
- 36:35Speaker 1: been built for. The defense is playing better, and they're
- 36:38Speaker 1: just running the ball. They're not afraid to run Underwood.
- 36:42Speaker 1: But he also had twenty eight throws. He's had a
- 36:45Speaker 1: game where he had over thirty throws, so they aren't
- 36:49Speaker 1: just you know, holding him back at all. So I
- 36:53Speaker 1: think this is a great way for him to develop
- 36:55Speaker 1: on starting to really see him come around. And next year,
- 36:59Speaker 1: my Gophers have to play Michigan and I'm assuming we're
- 37:02Speaker 1: going to face a really talented quarterback in his true
- 37:06Speaker 1: sophomore year. So they did pull away in the second
- 37:09Speaker 1: half Perdue, who's been scrappy. You know, they've been scrappy.
- 37:13Speaker 1: They weren't scrappy enough, but they did put up some
- 37:16Speaker 1: points twenty seven, but Illinois ended up doing it at
- 37:20Speaker 1: Altmeier's just going nuts nineteen completions, three to ninety through
- 37:24Speaker 1: the air, though, I mean that that's impressive. Notre Dame
- 37:29Speaker 1: kept there three in a row now, going twenty eight
- 37:34Speaker 1: to seven over Boise. Georgia didn't make it ugly against Kentucky,
- 37:39Speaker 1: so that was big. Like you said, Texas Tech, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 1: I want to see them play a mediocre game and
- 37:46Speaker 1: see if they can get through it, because they've been
- 37:48Speaker 1: just so damn dominant man. Baylor had a fifty three
- 37:52Speaker 1: yard field goal to win the game. I think that
- 37:56Speaker 1: was like thirty something seconds left to be fair case
- 37:59Speaker 1: State had a fifty six yards are blocked and that
- 38:02Speaker 1: would have won the game thirty five to thirty four.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Two games I want to cover well, TCU and Colorado
- 38:08Speaker 1: was a really good game. Colorado scrappy, not that good,
- 38:11Speaker 1: but scrappy. TCU overcame, though I already have a money
- 38:15Speaker 1: line bet on them. By the way, the two things
- 38:18Speaker 1: I want to talk about A and m over Mississippi State.
- 38:22Speaker 1: That got me on the plus number. But they just
- 38:26Speaker 1: keep finding a way to beach there. In a sense,
- 38:30Speaker 1: they're kind of like Miami where they've beat teams of
- 38:33Speaker 1: variety ways. Oh, you need to score a lot against
- 38:36Speaker 1: Notre Dame, we'll score a lot. Oh we need to
- 38:38Speaker 1: just play, you know, good defense and run the ball. Okay,
- 38:41Speaker 1: we'll do that. And we know their coach is a
- 38:44Speaker 1: high level coach. So that was a nice win. They
- 38:47Speaker 1: keep trucking and then Virginia in overtime. Again, what looked
- 38:54Speaker 1: to be a letdown spot wasn't a letdown spot. And
- 38:59Speaker 1: your bowl through a really bad pick six. That's two
- 39:04Speaker 1: back to back pick sixes, just for those keeping track
- 39:08Speaker 1: at home. Last week he threw one two. But I
- 39:12Speaker 1: thought Louisville was gonna win that game, just keeping an
- 39:15Speaker 1: eye on it. But they ended up and they had
- 39:17Speaker 1: like I think they they scored ten straight points or
- 39:20Speaker 1: something like that. It was ten zero in the fourth
- 39:22Speaker 1: quarter to force it. But Virginia man three and zero
- 39:26Speaker 1: in the acc in Virginia, Georgia, Tech and Miami all
- 39:32Speaker 1: don't play each other. So it's very similar to what
- 39:35Speaker 1: happened last year. Remember where we got the stretch. We're like, oh,
- 39:38Speaker 1: these teams just got to keep winning because nobody's gonna
- 39:41Speaker 1: have to play each.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Other quickly on A and M. They're quietly having a
- 39:46Speaker 3: really freaking good year. And they were they were six
- 39:49Speaker 3: in the country when it be Missippi State. And they
- 39:52Speaker 3: probably don't give a shit either. Hey, you're gonna win
- 39:53Speaker 3: football games. You're in the SEC. Your quarterback is never
- 39:58Speaker 3: too flashy in the box. We're at standpoint. But they're
- 40:01Speaker 3: winning games. Yeah, and you have a great home field,
- 40:03Speaker 3: your defense is legit. And that's just another another week
- 40:07Speaker 3: where Elko, who apparently is a predamn good coach. You
- 40:10Speaker 3: you coach him up with Duke and now are doing
- 40:11Speaker 3: the same thing in A and M. They're just gonna
- 40:13Speaker 3: quietly keep getting better. I will say, their schedule, let's see,
- 40:19Speaker 3: let's in the schedule. They have Florida, Arkansas, l s
- 40:23Speaker 3: U Missoos, South Carolina, Texas. So you still got a
- 40:28Speaker 3: lot of big dogs coming at you. But hey, if
- 40:30Speaker 3: your A and M, you're you're looking playoffs right now,
- 40:32Speaker 3: you're being optimistic, uh and bringing after earn it though, too,
- 40:36Speaker 3: So hats off to them, and they're they're definitely quietly
- 40:39Speaker 3: doing just fine. For Miller Moss, as I text my
- 40:43Speaker 3: buddies my group chat, he's just bad with my blood pressure.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I love Miller Moss. I love Jeff brom That dude
- 40:49Speaker 3: just does the weird ship. We're like, do what are
- 40:51Speaker 3: you doing? Then throws a bad pick. Next drive, just
- 40:54Speaker 3: thrick freaking throws a rope like Conte like Louisville games
- 40:58Speaker 3: are They're bad for my boat, but pressure because they're new.
- 41:01Speaker 3: It's never either lose by twenty, went by twenty. It's dude,
- 41:04Speaker 3: we're gonna twenty is your run? Okay, now we'll give
- 41:07Speaker 3: up twenty. It's always complicated shit, they're a fun team
- 41:10Speaker 3: to watch. Defensively, they're they're they're a little bit light
- 41:13Speaker 3: in the trenches, which I knew, and window t I'm like,
- 41:16Speaker 3: you better score seven each time you're in trouble, and uh,
- 41:19Speaker 3: Virginny kind of ran down their throats.
- 41:21Speaker 2: But to your point, credit to them.
- 41:24Speaker 3: You had a massive like catastrophics from the field after
- 41:28Speaker 3: they beat FSU and that bobbled uh playing overtime and
- 41:32Speaker 3: then you're, okay, we're going to Louisville, who is a
- 41:34Speaker 3: good team, but you still were able to compose yourself
- 41:37Speaker 3: to get a win. Hey, and you know we're Virginia
- 41:41Speaker 3: Statistically right now, what they're saying that Virginia has better
- 41:44Speaker 3: odds making the playsfro now than PennState and Texas. So, hey,
- 41:47Speaker 3: who'd have thought that, you know, credit to them. Will
- 41:51Speaker 3: they have a letdown this week now? Possibly, Like you know,
- 41:54Speaker 3: you're you're being the big man on campus. You know, you're,
- 41:56Speaker 3: you're the ego is gonna keeping plating over there, and
- 41:59Speaker 3: they're not really used to this good of a year.
- 42:01Speaker 3: They've never been a bad program since we've known each other, Chris,
- 42:04Speaker 3: there had also never been elite thankfully for them. Oh god,
- 42:07Speaker 3: they they got Wazu this week and then they go
- 42:09Speaker 3: to Bill Belichick. Okay, they might be, they might keep Chris.
- 42:14Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 42:15Speaker 1: That would be the ultimate leftdowns right there.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Hey, so you just quickly, uh, and then we can
- 42:19Speaker 3: move on. You got you, You host Washington State, you
- 42:23Speaker 3: go to North Carolina, you go to Cal, you host game.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yeah true, Uh, you host Wake, you go to Duke,
- 42:31Speaker 3: and you play Va Tech. It wouldn't be impossible if
- 42:37Speaker 3: in two and a half months or SAT Virginia's undefeated
- 42:40Speaker 3: in acc play, it will be I'm not saying it's likely,
- 42:43Speaker 3: but there's not a murderers row of a team there
- 42:47Speaker 3: compared to like when we're talking SEC boys.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Now. They got too defensive touchdowns in this last game too,
- 42:53Speaker 1: So remember there was a there was another one. So yeah, yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: you're right though, it's true. I mean there's a couple
- 43:01Speaker 1: of tricky ones, like you said, Duke, right, Yeah, Duke
- 43:04Speaker 1: and Cal are probably the toughest ones. Yeah, Duke and
- 43:09Speaker 1: Call are the toughest ones. Yeah, that's that's interesting. And
- 43:16Speaker 1: Miami has Louisville, they have s m U, they have
- 43:20Speaker 1: at Pitt to close. It could be cold weather could
- 43:25Speaker 1: you bring up Georgia Techs really quick because they're the
- 43:28Speaker 1: other undefeated team. I know they played Georgia, but that's
- 43:31Speaker 1: not a conference and they almost they you can make
- 43:36Speaker 1: an argument they probably should have lost two.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Uh yeah, all right, Uh Georgia Tech. They got vo
- 43:43Speaker 3: Tech this week at home. They also go to Duke. Uh.
- 43:48Speaker 3: They host Syracuse Hobbs Syracuse. Losing their quarterback to an
- 43:51Speaker 3: Achilles was a blow. They go to n C State,
- 43:55Speaker 3: go to BC they play Pitt that's their eight. Obviously,
- 44:00Speaker 3: fish for Georgia, but that's not a c A.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Pick can play spoiler soaking Callum Duke. But man, yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 1: it's I really hope that it's not three undefeated a
- 44:11Speaker 1: SEC teams at the end of the year though, I'll
- 44:13Speaker 1: tell you that.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that puts people in a weird spot.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Because then it gets in there on point differential against
- 44:20Speaker 1: like tea.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so, I mean you got to have some rules
- 44:24Speaker 3: that are that aren't going to be fair for everyone,
- 44:26Speaker 3: but that yet yeah, well, hey.
- 44:28Speaker 1: You know it's such a long season, and yeah, I
- 44:31Speaker 1: mean Virginia could have last the last two weeks now,
- 44:35Speaker 1: you know they were against good opponents. But like I said,
- 44:40Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. Miami hasn't played there's like
- 44:43Speaker 1: a C plus game yet and they're due for it,
- 44:47Speaker 1: so that they can lose the at Pit or s
- 44:49Speaker 1: m U or Louisville or whatever. So you know, it
- 44:52Speaker 1: could be that all all those teams have one loss
- 44:55Speaker 1: and it'll be the same scenario.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Who yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right right.
- 44:59Speaker 1: So yeah, it's a long season though, uh, and my
- 45:02Speaker 1: gofers through about a quarter and a half look pretty good.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Then they got their ass whooped. But there there was
- 45:07Speaker 1: some other just fun games. I have noticed that the
- 45:12Speaker 1: last two weeks, Ohio State is starting to uh become
- 45:16Speaker 1: more explosive in the past game that they're starting to
- 45:19Speaker 1: trust the young inexperienced quarterback. You're starting to throw make
- 45:22Speaker 1: some throws where you're like, hmm, that was a good throw.
- 45:26Speaker 1: So yeah, that that's uh. I think that about wraps
- 45:29Speaker 1: it up. Let's get into week seven. Okay, okay.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Oh by the way, hey night, nice pick with app State.
- 45:36Speaker 3: I was watching him on the on the ESPN Plus.
- 45:39Speaker 3: App State beats the the Beavers four and two. Now
- 45:42Speaker 3: the boys are getting hot. They're cooking four and oh
- 45:44Speaker 3: a four oh run for app State over Oregon.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Beavers go work. Are you sure I picked app State? Yeah?
- 45:53Speaker 3: Because then because then I because then I do Oregon
- 45:55Speaker 3: State for the alumni.
- 45:57Speaker 1: You sure it wasn't opposite? Pretty sure his opposite?
- 46:02Speaker 2: Damn?
- 46:02Speaker 3: I really thought you picked app State. I picked Oregon
- 46:05Speaker 3: State for alumni.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Because I remember saying, how the hell didn once they say,
- 46:09Speaker 1: Gary Payton, you should have picked with me.
- 46:11Speaker 3: I picked, and I did app State for Eric Church
- 46:15Speaker 3: and the music, and I'm.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Gonna I'm gonna blame it on you.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Actually, Damn, it's that one's man ship.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Well sometimes I just gotta be quiet. It's it's the
- 46:26Speaker 3: alarm making across country. I apologize for sleep deprivation.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Because when he said four and two, I was like, Noah,
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't think so. But then I'm thinking, does he
- 46:36Speaker 1: think like the Vikings are front? And then I'm like thinking, no,
- 46:39Speaker 1: he'll know that we've only had five weeks, and I'm thinking, oh,
- 46:43Speaker 1: he got that, he got that messed up. Yeah. No, No,
- 46:46Speaker 1: I'm an honest person here, you know what I mean.
- 46:48Speaker 1: I'm not gonna it's all on record. So I mean,
- 46:52Speaker 1: even though you know, picking a team that hadn't won
- 46:55Speaker 1: yet was a risk, I did pick. I picked Orgon
- 47:00Speaker 1: because they had played so many tough teams or tougher
- 47:03Speaker 1: competition that I thought they'd finally win, and they just
- 47:06Speaker 1: barely lost. But that's that was supposed to be at
- 47:12Speaker 1: the beginning of the segment. Of the last segment, Sir,
- 47:14Speaker 1: we got to get this right, okay. So we got
- 47:18Speaker 1: plenty of good games, whether it's ranked teams versus unranked
- 47:22Speaker 1: teams that could be feisty shootouts like Texas Tech and Kansas.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I think it'll be a shootout anyway. But the two
- 47:29Speaker 1: games I want to start with are Oregon hosting Indiana
- 47:33Speaker 1: number three, number seven, and then Bama going on the
- 47:36Speaker 1: road at Missoo. Let's start Alabama at Missou eleven am
- 47:43Speaker 1: high noon on the East coast. Missoo. You know, they're
- 47:47Speaker 1: five and zero, They're rushing the ball two ninety two
- 47:51Speaker 1: a game, they got a running quarterback, they outscored Kansas,
- 47:57Speaker 1: they got by South Carolina. That's about it as far
- 48:01Speaker 1: as you know them playing somebody. Alabama's definitely played a
- 48:04Speaker 1: tougher schedule, having Vandy, Georgia and f s U. What
- 48:10Speaker 1: says you heading into this matchup, Sir.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Ah Man, I I think this is one of those
- 48:17Speaker 3: weird spots where any again, I can't stand drink with
- 48:20Speaker 3: some Zoo coach because I think he's overrated. But I
- 48:24Speaker 3: do think that they lift up the w this week
- 48:27Speaker 3: just because. Man, if you're Bama, this is tough.
- 48:31Speaker 2: You had.
- 48:31Speaker 3: You had Georgia in a huge game, you beat them,
- 48:35Speaker 3: you had a revenge spout Vandy, you beat them, played
- 48:38Speaker 3: pretty well. Now I got go on the road. And
- 48:40Speaker 3: this for Miszoo. They have a super light schedule here.
- 48:44Speaker 3: This is one of their super bowls.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Yeah it is.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so Georgia, I don't think so.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Maybe they do, but if not, this is their super Bowl.
- 48:55Speaker 3: No, no, no, they They're there are other there are
- 48:58Speaker 3: other toughest games are at Andy and A and m SO.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I mean, hey, if you're missoo, yeah, dude, you couldn't
- 49:06Speaker 3: ask for a better situation. Bama's had two tough games
- 49:09Speaker 3: in a row. You're hosting them, you are relatively healthy,
- 49:13Speaker 3: You've been run the ball like crazy. We did see that. Yes,
- 49:18Speaker 3: BAMA had a good game control versus h Vandy. But again,
- 49:23Speaker 3: Bama's run defense has struggled this year. Uh so you
- 49:28Speaker 3: could if you're Miszoo, you can't ask for a better situation. Now,
- 49:32Speaker 3: what type of defense does the Miszoo have because in
- 49:35Speaker 3: that Kansas game it was pretty much kind of a
- 49:37Speaker 3: back and.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Forth running gun.
- 49:39Speaker 3: I know the defense bote up in the fourth, but
- 49:41Speaker 3: that was a couple of very nicely time drops. And
- 49:45Speaker 3: also with Kansas, no sorry, also in their game versus
- 49:51Speaker 3: I'm drawing their battle with Okay in South Carolina. So yeah,
- 50:01Speaker 3: Miszoo seems to be a team likes to take turns,
- 50:04Speaker 3: kind of just going back and forth, back and forth,
- 50:05Speaker 3: making a big splash, play a big splash play again,
- 50:08Speaker 3: if you want to have versus Bama, I'm gonna favorite Bama,
- 50:12Speaker 3: you know, So I think there's gotta be a little
- 50:14Speaker 3: more in control. You don't want to do the taking turns.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Who's gonna score more often versus BAM Because I don'
- 50:19Speaker 3: think they're gonna win that game. But if they get
- 50:21Speaker 3: off to a good start, and hope the Bama is
- 50:23Speaker 3: a little bit worn out. Hell, Missou's last game was
- 50:26Speaker 3: U mass Like they're sitting in a great situation, So
- 50:30Speaker 3: I think they win this game, Chris, due to the
- 50:33Speaker 3: scheduling spot, I think it's close, but I think it's
- 50:36Speaker 3: a Missouri win, which would be the biggest win Drinkwitz
- 50:39Speaker 3: has probably had because they can never freaking be Georgia
- 50:41Speaker 3: at home. So I think Miszoo gets to win. But
- 50:44Speaker 3: I'm saying, like thirty one twenty eight, I think it's
- 50:48Speaker 3: a close one, but I think they pull it off.
- 50:50Speaker 3: And if you're Bama, this just a tough scheduling spot
- 50:52Speaker 3: and I'll take advantage of it as Miszoo fan.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's one of the biggest reasons why
- 50:59Speaker 1: I think was who would win is because you know,
- 51:03Speaker 1: we it happens like I mean, it happens in the
- 51:06Speaker 1: pros to an extent too, but especially college man, when
- 51:09Speaker 1: you have such a you know, getting up, getting up,
- 51:13Speaker 1: getting up, and then you know at some point you're
- 51:16Speaker 1: just not gonna you know, And it's still only be
- 51:19Speaker 1: one loss in the conference because that's the Seminoles, which
- 51:23Speaker 1: is a quality loss, you know, they it's not a conference.
- 51:28Speaker 1: But so that part does make sense, does make a
- 51:33Speaker 1: lot of sense. And but I don't know, man, you know,
- 51:38Speaker 1: so many people were were just giving up on the
- 51:41Speaker 1: second year coach, acting like it was just a matter
- 51:44Speaker 1: of time before he was gonna get fired. And I
- 51:47Speaker 1: just think that the way their offense is clicking now,
- 51:51Speaker 1: and they just faced a run heavy team I think Missouri.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I could see them maybe running a different way or whatever,
- 52:00Speaker 1: like finding little things. Maybe they'll have more yards than
- 52:04Speaker 1: Vandy because what they did to Vandy was crazy on
- 52:07Speaker 1: the rush side of it. So I could still see
- 52:09Speaker 1: them haven't. But I just it's not like they haven't
- 52:12Speaker 1: played anybody, but it's they haven't. Have they even been
- 52:16Speaker 1: on the road. Have they been on the road yet?
- 52:20Speaker 3: They their road games were no, they no, they haven't.
- 52:27Speaker 1: So it's it's it's I actually have a minus two
- 52:33Speaker 1: and a half bet down with Alabama, so I'm gonna
- 52:36Speaker 1: go to Alabama. But I understand what you said, and
- 52:42Speaker 1: if we're here next week, I'll be like, you're right that,
- 52:46Speaker 1: you know, that makes a lot of sense because it does.
- 52:48Speaker 1: You see, this happen a lot, and it wouldn't even
- 52:51Speaker 1: and if it happens as long as a close game,
- 52:53Speaker 1: of course, I'd still be like, well, Bama, Bama still
- 52:57Speaker 1: could you know, go in the playoffs? You know, So
- 53:01Speaker 1: I want to be totally down on them, unless they
- 53:04Speaker 1: went and got beat up or something like that, then
- 53:08Speaker 1: it'd probably be like, oh, they're good. They want to
- 53:10Speaker 1: fire him now again too, but yeah, we'll see how
- 53:12Speaker 1: that goes. But it's a big game obviously, the SEC
- 53:16Speaker 1: moving over, and there's big games across the country, whether
- 53:19Speaker 1: it's ranked versus ranked or or kind of a feisty
- 53:22Speaker 1: Florida Kansas. Maybe even you know, USC offensively could stand
- 53:30Speaker 1: up against some of these ranked teams. But number three
- 53:33Speaker 1: Oregon versus number seven Indiana, both teams score a lot
- 53:38Speaker 1: of points. Forty six point six for Oregon forty seven
- 53:42Speaker 1: point eight, so forty seven and forty eight rounding up.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Both of them run the you know, and out of
- 53:47Speaker 1: the ball to sixty eight and two forty on the ground,
- 53:53Speaker 1: and both of them are playing really good defense too. Now, Indiana,
- 54:00Speaker 1: you could say, well, you know, they only really played
- 54:03Speaker 1: Illinois and Iowa. Sure, but Iowa's got a legit defense.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Do they have a better office than last year, Yeah,
- 54:12Speaker 1: but that doesn't really count, you know, But what they
- 54:15Speaker 1: did to Illinois, and yeah, I know there were some
- 54:17Speaker 1: injury issues there, but what they did to them, only
- 54:21Speaker 1: being a seven point favorite and beating them by fifty
- 54:24Speaker 1: three points is crazy, absolutely crazy. Now, this is a
- 54:31Speaker 1: huge game obviously, just in general, but for Indiana when
- 54:38Speaker 1: they stepped up to the plate at that upper echelon, Okay, Illinois, Iowa,
- 54:45Speaker 1: these type of teams, good quality teams, but not that
- 54:50Speaker 1: upper echelon, right, So when they stepped up to them
- 54:53Speaker 1: last year, they just got beat and you could see
- 54:55Speaker 1: they were getting beat. It wasn't ugly the whole time
- 54:59Speaker 1: or anything. You know, they hung around against Notre Dame,
- 55:02Speaker 1: they hung around against Ohio State, then it just got ugly.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Will they be able to at least stay within range
- 55:10Speaker 1: of the plus seven and a half? Will they? Will they?
- 55:15Speaker 2: You know?
- 55:16Speaker 1: Is this a new year and they're gonna actually beat
- 55:20Speaker 1: them at Oregon, which is a tough one. I have
- 55:23Speaker 1: to admit. I saw the nine to nine and a half.
- 55:25Speaker 1: I jumped on it. I have a plus ten and
- 55:27Speaker 1: a half already with Indiana, but I'm picking Oregon at
- 55:31Speaker 1: home in a very competitive game, though I do think
- 55:34Speaker 1: they'll be in the game in the fourth quarter.
- 55:38Speaker 2: What says you, I'm literally torn.
- 55:45Speaker 3: I do think that last year they did kind of
- 55:47Speaker 3: get punched in them out versus Notre Dame, Rohuse State.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Nothing to be ashamed of it all, but I do
- 55:52Speaker 3: think that Signetti is now another year there quarterback would
- 55:56Speaker 3: be just is gonna be better for him this year.
- 55:58Speaker 3: He's got to be more I'm sure more prepared. The
- 56:01Speaker 3: dude is a bit of a hothead and maybe make
- 56:04Speaker 3: some comments, but he backs it up, you know, the
- 56:06Speaker 3: Google MEI win guy. But Ship look at his record
- 56:10Speaker 3: and he's doing stuff at IU that's never been done
- 56:12Speaker 3: before in their program's history. So my, my, my sport
- 56:17Speaker 3: gut side tells me they're gonna go up there put
- 56:20Speaker 3: up a fight. But like my I suppose the analytical
- 56:23Speaker 3: side of me is like, dude, Oregon at home unless
- 56:27Speaker 3: LANDI has got to play Washington. Yeah, they just they
- 56:31Speaker 3: seem to find ways to blow these games out that
- 56:33Speaker 3: normally for Oregon when team's got to travel to go
- 56:38Speaker 3: see them.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Whether it's been usc over the years.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Ship too many to count. This is a game where
- 56:43Speaker 3: Oregon normally has a convincing win. So my gut tells
- 56:47Speaker 3: me to to or sorry, my analytical tells me to
- 56:51Speaker 3: bet Oregon my guts, Like dude, Indiana, if this is
- 56:55Speaker 3: a new and improved team, Oregon didn't look that great
- 56:58Speaker 3: versus Penn State. I mean they're not world beaters like
- 57:01Speaker 3: and they don't have Ohio state type type of defense.
- 57:03Speaker 2: So we'll see. I'm gonna pick Indiana.
- 57:07Speaker 3: It's a cover. I think Indiana covers. Oregon wins. I'll
- 57:11Speaker 3: take Indiana. I would like you plus that eight. But
- 57:14Speaker 3: this would be a great test for them, Chris, because
- 57:16Speaker 3: if they lose, it's like, dude, you might have the
- 57:19Speaker 3: best B plus team in the whole country, but you're
- 57:22Speaker 3: not You're not up to that level a grade yet.
- 57:24Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Yeah, we will see. And I just stracked the temp
- 57:30Speaker 1: and Eugene temperatures fine, but it has seventy chance of rain.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah. And and it's not that they can't. It's
- 57:41Speaker 1: not that Oregon's not can't. You know, they can be
- 57:43Speaker 1: explosive down the field, but a lot of times it's
- 57:47Speaker 1: not down the field as a short passes go, you know,
- 57:50Speaker 1: and they make some cuts and all that, and so yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll we'll we'll see. But yeah, I'm
- 57:58Speaker 1: right there with you. I do think Oregon will win.
- 58:01Speaker 1: But I think this time Indiana is gonna it's gonna
- 58:06Speaker 1: hang all the way with them, and you know, otherwise,
- 58:11Speaker 1: it's like they'll have other chances, Indiana, but it will
- 58:15Speaker 1: be kind of like a little block. They're kind of
- 58:18Speaker 1: in their head, like, man, can we get over the hump?
- 58:22Speaker 1: They were not as good as we've seen. Maybe our
- 58:23Speaker 1: coaches just talking shit and that's it. Ohio State at
- 58:28Speaker 1: Illinois fourteen and a half. This number was even higher
- 58:35Speaker 1: a little bit ago. But although Illinois's getting people back,
- 58:40Speaker 1: I still they don't run the ball, and their defense
- 58:44Speaker 1: isn't all that good and their secondary is hurt. And
- 58:47Speaker 1: if you if you, I mean, they did get some
- 58:48Speaker 1: guys back, but if you, if you're not a great defense,
- 58:52Speaker 1: and then you're gonna go against Ohio State and then
- 58:55Speaker 1: you can't run the per you're gonna go against Ohio State.
- 58:58Speaker 1: You know, it's just it's not a good look. Do
- 59:00Speaker 1: you think there's any chance of covering that fourteen and
- 59:04Speaker 1: a half something somewhere in that round there, or do
- 59:06Speaker 1: you think that Ohio State's starting to roll and they're
- 59:09Speaker 1: ramping up because Ohio State generally ramps up throughout the
- 59:12Speaker 1: season and then they peak and it looks like they're
- 59:17Speaker 1: ramping up based off offensively the last you could say
- 59:21Speaker 1: six out of maybe seven out of eight quarters.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Dude, the sat I was gonna start to show off
- 59:28Speaker 3: with until we got to the Franklin Strip, which is fine.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Was Ohio States allowed.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Twenty six points this year on defense, and they've played
- 59:38Speaker 3: and they've played respectable pump Gophers, respectable, Washington respectable, they
- 59:43Speaker 3: had that great twenty to zero comeback lead a versus
- 59:45Speaker 3: Maryland this last week, and also Texas respectable. Like, you've
- 59:50Speaker 3: only give him twice six points the whole freaking season.
- 59:52Speaker 3: And three of the five teams you've played are decent,
- 59:54Speaker 3: respectable b B level tier teams.
- 59:57Speaker 2: So I can't do not.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Give but double digits. Yeah, yeah, that's that's impressive.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: So I can't.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: I can't take now Illinois, they are a legit team,
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: which makes it Indiana win look really good. But I
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: can't fat Ohio State that there. They got some receivers. Again,
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: your secondary needs to be healthy when they throw the ball.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: So and that defense, that defense ain't a budget much.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I'm not saying they're good.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Maybe maybe Indiana Sports twelve fourteen points possibly would be right.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you know, they got a good court,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: they got a good quarterback.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: They do may it's like garbage time. But no, I
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: will take Ohio State. I would probably tease them down
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: to seven, but I'll definitely take Ohio State. I just
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: don't think below as the horses to knock them off.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right there. And this was, as
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you know, as far as my eight and four bet,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: this was a scheduled loss. So that's okay because they
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: have two losses at this point, no problem at all.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: That's fine. I'm still in good shape when it comes
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: to my have to be eight and four and up bet.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: So it's looking good. Everything's fine. The USC game really
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: helped me out. Not trying to bring up weird shit,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: but I'm just saying it really helped me out. Okay,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: But I didn't feel too good after that. In the
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: end of game, I'll tell you that. I was like,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: oh boy, this is not looking good. Okay, So the
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Red River shootout, Yeah, we're saying it. That's how it is.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Oklahoma Texas. More than likely Oklahoma will not have their quarterback.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: If they did have the quarterback, who, by the way,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: has another year of eligibility f this year. A lot
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: of people are saying, Oh, he's going on the draft.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Are you sure he's going on the draft? If I
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: were him, I wouldn't go to the draft. I come back,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: but I'm not him, He's not me. They would be
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: the favorite, correct, what you think they'd be the favorite?
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Sure, And I guess in some I don't think Texas
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: is coming in here Lucy Goosey like other programs like
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: we got nothing to lose Now, It's like, nah, this
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: is a rivalry you don't want to lose. So the
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: fact like Texas on paper has a pretty damn good defense.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Didn't look all that great last week, but they got
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a pretty good one. But you know, Oklahoma does too,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: and so I think that they'll win off of being
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: able to play really good defense, and they have. They
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: can create explosive plays that the guy who came off
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: the bench looked pretty good. Now, albeit you know, you know,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: not against a good team. It was a Kent State
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: or whatever. But I you know, I guess this is
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: like get up for a rivalry and you win this game.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I can see that. I could definitely see that, But
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: beating Auburn, beating Michigan two good teams. I think Michigan's
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: a little bit better than Auburn. But I'm just I
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: think it's there's just limited on offense, and I just
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: it's not like you'd be like, oh man, I really
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: had a breakthrough in this game, and in Texas is
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: having problem protecting people. We saw what happened to Auburn
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: when they had problems protecting people. So I like Oklahoma,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: but a very tight game because I don't think they'll
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: be able to put it away unless they have their starter.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: I agree with you. I can't believe this over unders
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: forty two and a half. Normally this over unders pushing
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: fifty eight to sixty two, so it'll be a little
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: bit of a lower spring game.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: But I can't.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: I can't say Texas, so I'm definitely going for ow
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: you my friend taking me Tusclouser probably would cancel me
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: off the trip if I picked Texas, So I do.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: I do like your analogy, though, now again where Texas
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: has the advantages email he's been struggled attle bit arch
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Man has been playing all year. Again this Texas kid
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: or oh you kid, he's only had one star versus
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: a really bad team. So how Oklahoma's offense look we
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: don't know. But that again versus Auburn didn't look that
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: good either. They find a way to win, So yeah,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: this should be a fourth quarter, close game like usual,
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: but probably like in the teams which we're not used
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: to really seeing it for this matchup. So I think, oh,
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: you guts it out again. And if you're Texas, man,
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: if you fall to three and three, starks have to
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: answer some questions, you know, because there's a lot, a
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: lot of money being thrown towards that program, a lot
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: of fancy cars in that player parking lot. But that's
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: not my issue either, So I hope oh you gets
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: to the win. And hey, if you're the backup, just
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: do the simple shit, be a game controller, keep it easy.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: That defense should be able to guide you to a win.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Although if you're Texas, you should see a pre motivated team. Chris,
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: you had a kind of a tough loss Verus Florida.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: You're now playing in your biggest game of the year.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: This should be a great football game.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and I you know, I'm not so confident based
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: off you know, the quarterback issue potentially anyway, but I
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: guess you could say they both have issues, but there
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: is that whole get up for a rivalry thing and
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: and this kind of momentarily would save their season. So yes,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: you know, I am I am kind of mixed, and
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: it is funny. You're right, it is. It is crazy
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: to see that that number where it's at the over under,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: but it does make sense based off of the defenses alone. Really.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: So there's four more games that I want to give
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: a little take on and then we can you know,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: mention some other ones. I'll be one minute, let's score.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Two of them are more like larger spreads. The other two,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: which will start with, is Michigan usc USC a favorite
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: of two and a half, Georgia at Auburn Auburn three
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: and a half. So you know, Michigan usc USC definitely
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: putting up points, there's no doubt about that. Defensively, they
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: still have their work cutout for him. Now, are they
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: better than they were, you know, not all that long ago? Sure, definitely,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: but they still give up too much in the past. Well,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: although Michigan's averaging two hundred yards, it's not like they're
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: only averaging you know, a buck fifty or something through
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the air and it's just been run. Like I said,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I like that they've gave Underwood plenty of passes per game. Really,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: if you look at it, they could have just like
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: sheltered the kid and they did, so I think that
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: actually will pay off. And especially when he not just
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: a design run but figures out when to run, it's
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: gonna get dangerous. And both of them can run the ball,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: you know, no doubt about it. But I just Michigan's
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: nowhere near defensively what they were, you know, a couple
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: of years back on their harbor. But there's still a
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: damn good defense. And yeah they didn't they didn't cover
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: last week beating Wisconsin, but ever since they lost to
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: you know, Oklahoma. It'd be interesting by the end of
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: season if they had a rematch, would that game go
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: a different way? Kind of interesting to think about it.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: McCully has came up, you know, against Wisconsin on seven targets,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: had six receptions, buck twelve and a touchdown. I mentioned
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Hayes has been really solid, just to says the running back.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Last year Michigan won early on in the season, twenty
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: seven to twenty four. You know, USC needs a big
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: win many they need it. They need a big win,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: and this one to me is just can can the
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: youngster actually exploit the secondary? I'm gonna say in this game,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: not enough. So I'm gonna go with USC winning the game.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: But it's gonna be a closer one. It's a night game, NBC,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: big rating and all that. But you know, if they allow,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: you know, Michigan to run, run, run, and then they
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: can hit some big pass plays, there might be an issue.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: But are you back here?
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: So the four games I was talking about are against
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: ranked versus unranked, but two of them are really tight
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: on the spread. Two of them a little bit more
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: so Florida Texas A and M and Kansas Texas Tech.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: We'll get to those. But the two games I was
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: talking about was Michigan USC two and a half point,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: you know, so it's a flip, you know, really a
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: pick them, and then Georgia at Auburn three and a half.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: I just broke down Michigan USC. What says you on
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: this one here, sir? Because you know, can't like USC's
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: secondary and just past defense in general hasn't been great.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: But they do get after the quarterback. Now, maybe it
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: hurts them at times because their cornerbacks aren't good enough,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: but ken Michigan exploit that.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: I mean, I've been a USC fans.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: That's my longest collegeball team I've supported growing up in Alaska.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: You really have a team to cheer force. I picked
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: USC because back in that two oh three they were
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: in their heyday. But man, Lincoln needs a win. Like
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: he's not had bad years, he also has not had
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: a great year. This would probably be the biggest one
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: they've had. And I know I haven't talked about that
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: much on the show this year, but I'm not gonna
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: also talk about the USC being a bunch of Trump
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: teams on the show for no reason, So this would
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: be a big win. This definitely is one of those
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: teams that plays ground and pound. I do think that
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I'm a little bit scared because Michigan's quarterback has the
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: ability to take off sometimes and just do some dangerous
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: shit like it's he's getting there.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: And I do feel the reps in the past game,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: which kind of surprised me, you know, yeah, not being
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: too conservative with them, which I think will pay off
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: in the long run.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: And obviously, oh you did a nice job of containing him.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: But USC does not have OU's defense. So my gut
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: tells me that USC is going to lose. I mean,
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: I hope they don't, but in this in this situation,
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: I gotta pick Michigan. I just hope I'm wrong. This
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: would be a nice win for Lincoln. Hey we're quietly
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: four and one. I mean, if we finished in the
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: top ten, top tier to the Big ten, maybe we
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: sneak in the back door of a playoff.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Like I don't know if you know.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Our schedules not terribly hard this year, but this one
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: of those games where you got to be a physical team.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: It's not always your m and find a way to win.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: And this could be a win that spurs me in
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: the right direction. But my gut tells me, dude, this
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: games we've been losing for the last five to seven seasons.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: So I hope I'm wrong. I'll take Michigan. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: two and a half. Vegas is saying, hey, it's it's
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: a pick them, But that quarterback is gonna scare me bit, Chris,
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: because those are the type of guys we probably struggle
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: with a little bit.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Right and then. But it also be can he take
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: care of you know, can he take advantage of the
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: past game? And that's I'm not sure. I just think
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: USC's due to finally beat a ranked team. It's been
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: a little bit. So yeah, it's a pick them game,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: and it'd be a really big win for Michigan because, uh,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you could see they're getting back to what they were.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: You could see these young kids starting to throw some
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: passes and you're like, Okay, that's pretty good. That's a
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: pretty good drive.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Georgia visits Auburn, they are right around a three and
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: a half point favorite. You know, it's it's I don't know,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Auburn like Georgia doesn't get pressure on the quarterback. Okay,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: but if you're ever gonna be able to get pressure
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: on a quarterback, this is your guy. You know, this
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: is the guy that holds the ball in Their offensive
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: line isn't great. They have weapons to hitch you deep.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I will say, george is finally starting to complete some
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: of those deep passes themselves. I like Georgia here, Jackson
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Arnolds do, and just in general, with the talent they
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: got at wide receiver and everything, they are kind of
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: due for a big win. They got that Baylor win
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: and then they barely lost the an n They barely
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: lost to Ou when you could have made an argument
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: somewhere in there that they could have won. But I
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: just think Georgia's got their shit together more. Their defense
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: is longer gone. Are the days of those eight guys
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: getting drafted off eleven players. You know, they used to
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: have just nasty, nasty, even a couple of years ago,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: not even long ago defenses, but that's no longer the case.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: But I still like Georgia in this game. It'll be close.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: I'm not saying they'll blow them out, but I'm gonna
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: go with Georgia. But I'm still I think Auburn's better
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: than their three and two record. But it's like when
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: they face someone with even a solid defense, like an
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: okay defense, it feels like they just can't run like
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: they did against Baylor. That really kind of turned my
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: head earlier in the season. But what says you on
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: this one, sir?
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Okay, my football brain says, dude, take Georgia. Auburn's quarterback
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: has not been that good this year. Like he's been struggling.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Everyone's been ripping on him. He ain't that good. Georgie
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: winning Tennessee in one, Yeah, Auburn, same thing. It's Auburn
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: as good as Tennessee, so it should be an easy
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: to win. Go bet Georgia for a lot of money.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: But as we've known and our friendship of a decade Plus, dude,
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: weird shit happens at Auburn at night. Maybe maybe going
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: out of place above would be death Vallean Kinnick. And
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: I'm not even saying it for like the stadium atmosphere,
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: but dude, Auburn has a weird fucking way of no
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: matter what the record is, Auburn and night behind those
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: shrub bushes are like, dude, you know, yes, and and
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: to them much like Auburn Alabama, Aubren George is a
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: huge rivalry. So I'm I'm gonna go against my football head.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Auburn's because again, those those shrubs. Dude
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: google the hers all the time. So I'm taking the
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: shrubs and a little bit of magic and look for
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: Auburn to win. It makes no logical sense at all,
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: but hey, there's been lots of wins, Chris, We've seen
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: over the years where Aubert had no sense winning and
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: they do. Maybe this is that shrub shrub luck game.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: I'll take the Tigers. If George wins by thirty, I'll say, dude,
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: someone trim the bush is too slow or too low?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, but that is a good call. And and
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: you know, maybe you want to eyeball that that plus
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: number or maybe yeah, you're right, but but yeah, it's
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: you're right about that. And they've been knocking on the
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: door twice now so against two good teams, so they
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: are due and so I'm not betting on it. I
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: don't have a minus three and a half or nothing
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: with Georgia, but I think they'll get it done. But yeah,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: we'll see. So two games, I want to hit up Kansas.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I think Texas Tech will win, but ken Kansas get
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: under that plus number. Some people think it is because
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I saw it a plus four fourteen and a half
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: and now it's plus fifth or thirteen and a half
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: or yeah plus for Kansas. So I Kansas this has
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: played the better schedule, even though they have losses, but
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: they can you know, that's sick. Could it go over
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: that sixty and a half? I think it could, but
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I like Texas Tech to win, but I'm wondering if
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: Kansas can actually make it a fourth quarter game. And
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: then Florida A and M. I'm starting I may buy
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: some point. I'm gonna look at that that plus seven
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: and a half. I may buy some points, or just
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: kind of I may pick Florida will not pick them.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: I think A and M will beat them because they've
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: shown they can kind of all purposely beat you. But
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: this is a damn good defense, so this will be
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: the best defense I think they've faced. So I think
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I'm going with the favorites. I'm going with the ranked team,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: but I'm wondering who will cover the spread as the
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: plus number. I think Florida right now. If I were
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: to make a bet, I'd bet Florida covering. But I
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: think Kansas can make it at least interesting enough. It's
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: like a fun, entertaining game.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: What says you, I hate to copy and paste you,
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: but I do think Kansas stays within that thirteen and
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: a half. I think that is a good team, and
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: they have a legit good quarterback. Not saying that Texas
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Tech doesn't, but hell, Kansas had a tough, tough schedule
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: last year too, and they finished year strong, and they
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: they have a good way of covering it's right.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: They then they win like three in a row against
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: ranked teams or something. Yeah.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: Yeah, actually, so they've I'm not saying it's like Florida,
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: you know, ship, but Kansas has a pretty tough schedule
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: last a couple of years and that quarterback doesn't doesn't
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: bat nice, so I think they'll be right in that game.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: And for Florida, A and m uh man, it's I
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: gotta take A and M here, maybe buy down to
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: like seven or six and a half. But this is
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: a really hard spot for Florida. You had a crazy
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: game with LSU. You beat Florida, you beat Texas. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: got to go on the road to Kyle Field.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: You're we might yeah yeah, and then you're coming up.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: You got Georgia after Like, dude, this is dude again,
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: poor Billy.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: I don't I'm not a Gator apologist, but holy shit, I.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Gotta go look at Florida's schedule the next two years
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: because they better. They better have hooked them up.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they better get the Miszoo treatment this year because
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: Missoo's pretty spoiled. So I'm gonna take this again much
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: like I'm taking Missoo to be Bama. This is the
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: ultimate scheduling spot times three more for A and M
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: to win. I'll take them by a touchdown. I'll make
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: it seven. H DJ Legwise is probably gonna have a
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: couple of interceptions. Again, it's not his fault. It's just
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: a hard spot.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Yeah, LSU was favored by nine and a half, it's
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: down to eight and a half. It's some spots over
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: South Carolina. South Carolina is not the team they were
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: last year, But are we sure that elis? Can you
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: know if you bought some points and went to plus
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: ten and a half, you feel pretty good because yeah,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: South Carolina hasn't been great, but we know one side
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: of the ball has been really bad. So that's something
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: to look at. Arizona State has a challenge at least
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: if you tah and get back to what we were seeing.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: They gotta go on the road. They're underdogs. I'm kind
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: of looking at that plus number, but I think that'll
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: be kind of an interesting matchup. That's a closer nine fifteen,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: ten to fifteen on the East because we know the
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: East doesn't stay up for those games BYU at Arizona
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: their slight slate favorite. Another one as far as nonpower,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: who's gonna make it right? Boise State? Last year, South
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Florida a ranked team at North Texas five and oh
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: North Texas on Friday night? Okay, so that is something
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: that you want to keep an eye on. Another against
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: the spread is Friday Night as well. Ruggers ten and
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: a half plus ten and a half if you want
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: to buy some points. I think Washington's gonna win the game,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: but Ruggers can put up points with the best of them,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: so that's something to look at. I think that'll be
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: an interesting game. That's the it's it's not the Fox game.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: They must have baseball going on. It's FS one game,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: so that that is another kind of interesting matchup for
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: the week, sir.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you know that. B YU. Again, quietly, they're having
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: another nice year.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: They could be in the contention for the for that
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: Big twelve title that they're they're not getting a lot
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: of hype in either sexist tech that. I think the
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: Big twelve Chris a month from now is gonna be
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: interesting to see what the Big tol stands look like,
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: because that really is kind of a wide open race
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: with a lot of good teams. And maybe you just
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: don't get the media love that those SEC and Big
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: ten teams get.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Yeah true, All.
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: Right, Well, as we move on to another week of
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: the Crafty Crabby Pick of the Week. Again, I misspoke earlier.
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: I had my team's cross up in my head. I
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: apologize for that, I seem to always screw up.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: On my hour. I need I need to hire an
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: analyst for this.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: So you need to write it down there, put in
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: your phone.
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: And what kinds are we going to?
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Sir? Give me the game. You can do your spiel
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: after you give me the game.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Out in West San Jose State, Wyoming, six pm. Okay,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: San Jose State.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: The Spartans.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: If you remember two years ago they actually won the
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: Mountain West And if you bet then you would want
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: a lot of money because they literally were not in
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: existence of college football. But they fucking won the conference
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: two years ago for a fat check and something they've
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: been Okay, last year they had the best receiver of
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: college football from a statistical point. Okay, goes to Wyoming.
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: Who if you watch them last week, we're playing in
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: the snow, so who knows what the train may look like.
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: The Wyoming Cowboys.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: They had Josh Allen a handful of years ago. They
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: had the coach from NBSU a couple of years ago.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Allen's gone. The coach is gone. They're trying to rebuild
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: some stuff. It is the War Memorial Stadium. Okay, last week,
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: get snowed. It's supposed to be sixty three and sunny
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: this Saturday. I don't think it can snow in sixty
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: three years weather, but I could be wrong. You gotta
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: pay thirty six to walk in the door. San Jose
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: State minus two and a half Chris So a road
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: favorite the field. The conditions are unpredictable at this moment
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: due to snow h The game is at six o'clock
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: in college on the CBS Sports Network. This game is
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: on TV. Oh my lord, all right, brother, what is
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: your gut say? In the San Jose State Wyoming Melton
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: West Showdown? That is somehow being televised.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: You know, you know V that game, You're right. I
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: forgot to mention that we got our first snow game
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: of the year. That you know, V is a pretty
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: good team and they were hanging with them, they were
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: hanging with them. That that's that's this is. This is
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: a bad game though someone actually picked a different game
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: that they're just guessing what you'd pick. But this definitely
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: fits man. So the last three matchup, San Jose State
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: has won twenty four to fourteen, three to sixteen, and
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: twenty seven to twenty one, and really four out of
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: the last five but they've been some kind of close games.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Interesting stats here the Spartans one hundred and ninety five
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: targets uh is the sixth most they so they they
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: like to try to chuck the ball. Here's the Spartans
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: point zero six passing percentage in the n CL D
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: one is the second highest in the regular season. Point
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: six passing percent What does that even mean? The Cowboy
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: The Cowboys are the home team Wyoming.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: It is, it is in Laramie, but they're the home underdog.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Okay, so the okay, So the Cowboys five thirty five
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: yards at home are the third fewest in the NC
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: Double A, So I guess it really doesn't do a
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: whole lot to be at home. Wyoming's averaging seventeen points
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: a game, and that's rounding up. Okay, it's round up
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: so that you know. So, yeah, San Jose's got a
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: little bit better offense because they they average more than
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: one hundred points or one hundred passing yards than them. Wyoming,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: though has the rushing advantage. Neither of them can play defense.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: But I talk about the pass game. So Santa San
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Jose State can can pass three or four you know,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: they can pass, but they give up to ninety through
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: the air, so we'll see if that changes. San Jose
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: State has definitely got to run the ball a little
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: bit better here than they have, so that that's kind
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: of interesting when you look at who they've played. Texas
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: is the biggest name. New Mexico is a pretty good team.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: We saw them play well, they beat UCLA right and
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: then they also, uh they they played Michigan kind of tough,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: so they but they played. But Wyoming's played UNL Colorado
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: and Utah. Now we don't know if Utah is all
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: the way back, so it's pretty even. Because Texas is
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: down this year, so this is a This is a
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: really tough game to pick and they've last three in
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: a row. Wyoming, are they due for a win? I'm
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: gonna say no, I'm going San Jose State the SPARTI
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: I'm going with Sparty, going with the Spartans to win
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: the game. What's the over under forty nine and a half.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna go under. I'm gonna go under. I'm gonna
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: stay San Jose State. Maybe they'll get to like a
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: buck a buck forty buck fifty rushing, because that's the thing.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Wyoming gives up one sixty one on the ground. So
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: if they can just establish some maybe they got to
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: pass to run that old saying. But I'm going with
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: the road team. And what's the record now? Three and three?
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Three? Yes, sir?
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: All right, okay for the alumni battle, man, I these
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: alumni battles have been just not even close this year.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: I've had Randy Moss, I've been singing country roads on
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: the show, which made have guys have blocked off the internet.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: This week San Jose State, their alumni is Omar Benson.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Miller is a great actor. I've seen a lot of
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: good movies. I like Lindsey Buckingham. I've heard of that name.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Joey Chestnutt is probably the most famous alumni prior to
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: the American people. And Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac Okay,
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: so that's that's okay. Surprisingly though, Chris University of Wyoming.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: This is a very very strong, underrated alumni. Dick Cheney,
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: Jerry Buss, obviously, my guy Josh Allen. I love him,
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: eve though it costs my good friend a lot of
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: money last night because didn't want to play against the
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: frickin Patriots. That was frustrating Chuck Pagano famous football former
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: football co uh. Also Theo Ratliffe and which and Greg
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: Ganie this wrestler so yeah yeah, and Minnesota and Josh
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Dotson the receiver and then if he I guess he
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: was at uh why I'm.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: You frame with TCU. Yeah, lare me. Wyoming had a
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: really strong alumni.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: So with my guy Josh Allen, who I'm I'm looking
