- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:29Good morning from the Poop. So today, I'd like to talk to
- 0:33you about how we have a random thought or we have random
- 0:36feeling or moment and we end up making that something that we
- 0:41believe and stay stuck in it for maybe much longer than we needed
- 0:47to. So, let me give you an example
- 0:49of what I'm talking about. I'm going to use the word
- 0:51overwhelmed because I've heard that so much from people in the
- 0:56last week, two weeks, I think the, with the holiday Coming, I
- 1:02think with the fact that we just had all kinds of Elections, the
- 1:07fact that people are still feeling all the repercussions of
- 1:11not knowing how some of those turned out.
- 1:14I think that some people are wrapped up very tightly in that,
- 1:19I think, when we look at what the economy is doing and how
- 1:22things are shifting, a lot of people are feeling the word
- 1:26overwhelm and let me be very clear about Emotions are meant
- 1:32to come and go and you can have an emotion like overwhelm and
- 1:37you are not screwed up because you have an emotion like that,
- 1:40trust me, we all have it myself included.
- 1:43The challenge that I want to bring up is when we stay stuck
- 1:48in the emotion when we keep the emotion for too long when that
- 1:52emotion becomes our Primary Emotion and we are thinking
- 1:55about it, thinking about it, thinking about it and we keep
- 1:58responding to it as opposed to To saying, well I'm having
- 2:02overwhelmed for this moment. I'm having overwhelm in this way
- 2:07as opposed to just saying you know I'm going to let this run
- 2:12amok and keep with me all day long because most of us don't
- 2:17have that cognitive thought to say, hey wait I don't want to
- 2:22keep this all day and that's what I'm talking about.
- 2:25It is, okay to have a thought for a moment it is okay to have
- 2:29something for To moments or five moments.
- 2:33But when you start keeping them for all the moments of your day
- 2:37that's when we start to have a real issue because those moments
- 2:40of fact, how you show up those moments affect how you interact
- 2:43with everybody, those moments affect how your biology and your
- 2:48body is working. Everything about those moments
- 2:52is dictated by what's going on in your head because of the
- 2:56electrical impulses that they put through you to get down to
- 3:00the nitty-gritty. Rudy of it.
- 3:01So if you are in a state of overwhelm, there are different
- 3:06electrical impulses that go along with being in overwhelm
- 3:10and those affect everything. They, I can't stress this enough
- 3:15and when you stay in them too long, it's like you start to
- 3:18burn hot. You start to have all these
- 3:21issues other issues show up. There's no, you know, cooling
- 3:25Downs, just so to speak. So think of it in terms of your
- 3:28phone because we all just love to Take such great care of our
- 3:31phones because they're important to us for our daily work and
- 3:36living. I mean, look, I do everything on
- 3:38my phone with my clients. In fact, I record my podcast
- 3:42with my phone so if I didn't have my little handy dandy
- 3:45iPhone, I would not be able to do all of this for you at least
- 3:50in the simple way that I do it. So let's think about that.
- 3:53Like I would never let my phone just sit open and running
- 3:59without darkening. The screen because I'll be like,
- 4:01oh, I don't want my battery to get hot or I wouldn't leave it
- 4:04sitting in the sun because I would sit there and say, well, I
- 4:06don't want my battery to get hot or if I feel my battery getting
- 4:10hot. I'm all like, oh, what's going
- 4:12on? Because we have this wiring to
- 4:15protect our phones. We know we should protect the
- 4:18phone, we worship protect the battery, we have certain things,
- 4:21we put a screen protector on it. We put a case on it.
- 4:24So if we drop it, we do an excellent job, taking care of
- 4:28our phones because it's like right there.
- 4:30Are in our world all the time. Well guess what?
- 4:33We are right there in our world all the time and we do a
- 4:36terrible job taking care of ourselves and we do a terrible
- 4:39job paying attention to these little things that we need to
- 4:42for ourselves like just protecting ourselves.
- 4:43If we did half of a good of his job, taking care of our emotions
- 4:47and our thoughts, the way we do our phones, we would not nearly
- 4:51have the challenges we do. So I want you to really pay
- 4:55attention to this piece because especially as we get closer to
- 4:59the holidays coming up, Up. You don't want to stay stuck in
- 5:03dread about seeing people. You can have a moment of it,
- 5:06like, oh God just don't want to sit with him.
- 5:08He's just so god-awful to talk to.
- 5:11You can have that moment, totally have it, but don't stay
- 5:16in it. Tell yourself.
- 5:18Hey, that's my battery. Getting hot.
- 5:20I got to shut this down and move over.
- 5:22I'm not going to allow myself to go.
- 5:23There have the awareness, which is the key to everything to pull
- 5:28yourself away from that. And say I'm going to change
- 5:31that. Thought so that I don't overheat
- 5:34like the iPhone. Okay.
- 5:36Have that awareness of it. So hopefully, this is helpful.
- 5:40Hopefully, you treat yourself a little bit better than you treat
- 5:43your phone. I'm going to shoot for that
- 5:45today and I will see you all tomorrow have a blessed day.
- 5:49Goodbye.
