- 1:18SPEAKER_08: Everybody knows him.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Don't limit me to Las Vegas, please.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I'll walk down the streets of New York City and they know who I am.
- 1:25SPEAKER_08: That is very true.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: And Beverly Hills, and they know who I am.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Oscar Goodman, how are you?

- 1:37SPEAKER_01: You have a little bit of freedom now.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: You're able to be creative, and uh it's your own business, which is terrific.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I congratulate you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: We appreciate that.
- 1:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's been so much fun talking about you know everything Las Vegas and everything going on really around the world.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Sounds like a gentleman's club, though.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Vegas Revealed.
- 1:55SPEAKER_07: Vegas Reveal, do you like that?
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: That's why we're like, no whether I like it.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I I have a very tough uh taskmaster at home, but I think the people who are here regarding the uh election probably like we may have to franchise this Vegas Revealed idea.
- 2:08SPEAKER_08: No, we do.
- 2:09SPEAKER_07: We need to trademark it.
- 2:10SPEAKER_07: Branch off.
- 2:11SPEAKER_07: Listen, before we get started, uh there's apparently a martini coming in for you because we know that you can't really sit here for fifteen minutes.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: My liver began to quiver about a half an hour ago.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Here it comes.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I'm starting to shake from thank you.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Leandre.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Look at that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: See the soil huge.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Jalapenos?
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm gonna describe it to uh the listeners.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: It's a very nice uh uh martini glass uh filled with Bombay sapphire gin, and it has two little japenos in it.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: That's uh my uh garnish of choice.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: And when I drink it from here, and I'm pointing to about a quarter of an inch from the top down to about an inch, um it's as cool as it gets.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: It's mellow.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: And from about the halfway mark down to the bottom, I begin to lose uh the sense of feel in my tongue, in my fingers, and in my toes.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: So it tells you a little bit, but I want to cheers to you.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Cheers! I always need a reason to get water boring drinks.
- 3:10SPEAKER_07: Cheers.
- 3:10SPEAKER_08: We have the boring drinks.
- 3:11SPEAKER_07: I know.
- 3:11SPEAKER_07: Why didn't we get one?
- 3:12SPEAKER_08: My liver's quivering too now that you mention it.
- 3:15SPEAKER_08: See, I'll corrupt everybody before we're through here.
- 3:18SPEAKER_07: You have so many uh titles, I don't even know where to begin.
- 3:21SPEAKER_07: You know, I mean begin at the beginning.
- 3:23SPEAKER_07: Begin at the beginning.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: It's always a good spot.
- 3:26SPEAKER_07: Well, you were born.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I was born, I uh I was born uh in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, uh and was educated back there, went to a small Quaker school, Haverford College, an excellent school, and then to the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: And uh Carolyn and myself came out here in 1964.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: We arrived in Las Vegas with$87 in our collective pockets, didn't know us all.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: I got a job in the DA's office as a clerk while I studied for the bar and met a lot of important people in town.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: People with the unions, uh people with the judiciary.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: And the moment I got my license, they began to send me business, which was great, and never had a bad day practicing law for over 40 years.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Then there came a time that I said, I'm gonna do something different.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Pulled the family together because I had represented reputed mobsters all over and a lot of other people too, but my reputation was representing the mob.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: And I said to them, you know, I'm gonna do something different.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: They said, What do you have in mind, Dad?
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I said, I think I'd like to run for mayor.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Well, we have a very democratic family with a little D, and uh little D and a little F for that matter.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: And they uh they um took a vote, Carroll and abstained, and my four children voted for and nothing against me.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: I said, Why?
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: They said, Dad, there's no way you can win.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: You have more baggage than the guys out of McCarran.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: So with that I won.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: And I know I'm in a um a hotel which is owned by Sheldon Adelson, uh, but uh he did not own the paper at the time that the editorial came out, and the editorial was crazy.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: I went went down to my driveway on uh Sunday morning after the Friday that I filed, the last day of filing, picked up the paper, brought it into our little dinette, opened it up.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: The editorial was anybody but Oscar for mayor, which is a great way to get involved in the did you frame that?
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: I I I framed it in my mind, I'll tell you that.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: I have never forgiven them, and wherever I go, I talk about it.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: But then the next week, this is unbelievable.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: The San Francisco Chronicle said Las Vegas should not elect the barrister to butchers.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: And I'm saying to myself, what is it their business?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, here's a place where you can't even see the city through all the fog.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Uh the only thing you see is the top of a bridge, a stupid bridge, and everything costs ten times as much as it does in Las Vegas, and they're saying Las Vegas should not elect me.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: But I won and I had a great 12 years, and then made a little bit of history.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: The first time in the history of the United States, a mayor swore in a spouse to succeed them when Carlin got elected, and now she's in her third term.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: So it's been a great ride.
- 5:55SPEAKER_07: It really has.
- 5:56SPEAKER_07: Incredible.
- 5:56SPEAKER_07: And and when you talk about all the stories that you share with everyone, we love that you're an open book.
- 6:01SPEAKER_07: I think that that that helps.
- 6:02SPEAKER_07: Don't you think that that has really helped people just kind of embrace your way?
- 6:06SPEAKER_07: You know, there's nothing to hide.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: There's nothing to hide, and I learned that lesson uh early on the campaign trail during my first election.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, my son was in the Marine Corps at the time, and he called up to see how we're doing.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: And I said, Ross, I have my first debate up at Sun City, and where all the inveterate voters are, very important to make a good impression.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: And I said, They're gonna send somebody, my uh opponent is gonna send somebody up there to bait me, because they know I have a bit of a temper.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: I said, What should I do?
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: He said, Well, uh, do a uh um I forget what he called it.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: It's like a strike.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: You strike them before they strike you.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, a preemptive strike.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: Preemptive strike.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: I had no idea what he meant.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: I still don't know what he meant, but uh uh I got up and uh uh fellow comes up and he says, Um, when's the last time you've been in City Hall?
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: And turns around and starts walking away.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: I said, Wait a second, buddy.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: You asked me a question, I'll come up here, I'm gonna answer your question.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Well, the the audience starts trembling, all these old folks like me now, but I wasn't old then.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: And uh they start trembling.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: What's this candidate screaming at one of us in the audience about?
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: I say, Come on up here.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: I said, when you ask me a question, I'm gonna answer it, okay?
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And the answer is I've never been in City Hall.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: And I'll tell you something else.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Uh don't call me after five o'clock because I'll be drunk and I won't remember.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: And I'll tell you something else.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: I'm a degenerate gambler and I'll gamble on anything that moves.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: I'll gamble on a cockroach, whether it's gonna go left or right.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: When I got through with my list of things that are my vices, um, there there was no way to attack me.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: No.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: I said it all from then on it was a cakewalk.
- 7:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I love that.
- 7:44SPEAKER_07: It's such so good.
- 7:45SPEAKER_07: It's true.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: You know, maybe some of these candidates who are here uh for the debate, yeah, maybe they should do that too.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: You know, every once in a while you have to tell people about uh where you're not the strongest in the world and you are human instead of trying to pretend that you're the master of the universe all the time.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: And I think they make a big mistake when they uh don't tell the truth, and I learned that as a lawyer.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: You know, juries are very smart.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: You get twelve people from varying backgrounds, and you put them in a room and they'll fight to the death to arrive at what they think is the right verdict, which is a wonderful system.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: And uh they'll know you if you're a phony.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: If I look at them, they don't believe me.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Uh then I lost the case.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: If I can't get them in two minutes, I'm through.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: And uh that's the way I I practiced uh as a lawyer and I uh was uh the mayor.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: I always told people the truth, they didn't want to hear it.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Like the apocryphal story when I was speaking to a fourth grade class.
- 8:40SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah, I remember that.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: And it was a nice little speech.
- 8:43SPEAKER_07: I like to I like to we were in the new you know, we were in the newsroom.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: And I uh I used to read the kids.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: I I love I love uh youngsters and yeah, I would read books to them.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: My favorite book was the one about um the three pigs and the wolf, the true stories.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, great, great book.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And um uh somebody uh must have been telling their parents that Goodman was going to be talking to the class because Little Hand goes up, fourth grader.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Yes, uh what could I do for you?
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: If you were in a uh an island in the middle of the ocean, what is the one thing you would want?
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I guess I could have said, you know, the Bible.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: But I said the truth.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I said I'd like a bottle of Bombay sapphire gin.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Well, by the time I got back to my office, all these folks from the media were waiting for me there with I never got so much publicity in my life with cameras, it was unbelievable.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: And I said, Look, I'm the George Washington of mayor's.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: I gotta tell the truth.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: So that's it.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: The next day was the greatest.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: I went over to uh the uh they they have a uh RJ newspaper drive uh where they give the papers to the children in school.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: So I went there, they had a golf tournament, and one of the cocktail waitresses there comes up and she says, We heard what you said, Mayor.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: She said, Uh thank God they didn't ask my husband.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: I I said, Why?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Because he would have said porn.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: You said it's okay to say these things, aren't you?
- 10:10SPEAKER_08: It's a podcast.
- 10:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:11SPEAKER_08: Say whatever you want.
- 10:12SPEAKER_08: So in comparison.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: No, I'm I'm behaving myself, please.
- 10:17SPEAKER_08: Well, take a few more sips of the martini, yeah, and then let's see what happens.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: It's like uh true serum.
- 10:24SPEAKER_08: So i in all of your your political experience, have you ever done political consulting and advised people on ripping off the bandage and just letting yourself hang out there?
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: I I learned really early on that unless you're in the seat, you you really can't give people advice because you don't know what's happening around you.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Even people say, Well, you must uh tell Carolyn what to do.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Well, no one tells Carolyn what to do.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's clear.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: And she doesn't even discuss I don't know what's happening down in City Hall, and I don't want to know because she's there and I'm not.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: I don't want to get in her way.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: She doesn't ask me uh w what I do when I run down to Beverly Hills, and uh I I I trust that she's gonna run the city great.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: And she has.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: I think what she's done with the homeless situation is probably the first positive thing.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: And she says, you know, my husband was there for 12 years and did nothing.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Well, uh, I tried.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: My first meeting.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I had the best idea in the history of the world because all these poor, chronically homeless people have mental illness.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Just about every single one of them.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: They can't take care of themselves.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: There are no institutions anymore.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: The Reagan administration shut everything down.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: And I said, We have a building down at Jean, Nevada, and it'd be an ideal place.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: It has a commissary, it has rooms for sociologists and psychologists.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Just so happens as a prison now.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: But you take the bars off, it's a building.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Next day, the stinked newspaper again.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: So what was the RJ?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: The stinked newspaper again.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, they don't pay you here, do they?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not going to cost you your job by saying anything.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 11:53SPEAKER_07: Oh, we don't get paid anything.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: We'll see about that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Um the the the headline in the paper was Mayor wants to send homeless to prison.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: That was the end of it.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: So for 12 years I did nothing.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: And uh she uh, you know, you go around the town, it it's it's horrible.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: Go down to Los Angeles, you can't walk you can't walk around there.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: You go to San Francisco, forget about it.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Portland, Seattle, they've taken over.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: And a lot of them, you have to feel sorry for them because they can't take care of themselves, but there are a lot of other people who really are taking advantage of the situation.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: And uh she uh she said, enough is enough.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: We're a tourist uh community, we have people who live here, and they're ruining our quality of life and endangering our business.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: So uh she put things in place, and now you go downtown the last week or so.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: It's uh she's making a difference.
- 12:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, and I know that she said, Hey, you know what?
- 12:47SPEAKER_08: If this gets people talking about the issue, then then mission accomplished.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: What I did with the graffiti.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 12:53SPEAKER_07: Right, I remember that.
- 12:55SPEAKER_07: You say you're gonna cut their fingers off or something.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Just a thumb.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Come on, I'm not cruel.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Just the useless digit.
- 13:01SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: No, you know, we had the ugliest highways in the world, and then finally, uh, I guess Endot built a wonderful desert tortoise out of stone for me at the spaghetti bowl, which is like the intersection of our entire community.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: And um, the day it goes up, I get a phone call.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Mayor, somebody defaced your tortoise.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: I said, You gotta be kidding.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: I went out there, I looked at this poor tortoise.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: It was just all painted over and everything.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: I said, and when we catch him, I'm gonna cut his thumb off on TV.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Well, everybody went nuts with that one.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: But but the truth of the matter is, they started a graffiti squad with Metro.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: And uh we've uh uh we are addressing the problems, and they caught the young man.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Uh he was no Picasso, okay?
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Uh they they caught him, and I went to the judge.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I said, I guess a little bit like Trump.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: I went to the judge and I said, Um uh when you sentence this person, make part of the sentence that the person has to come up to my office in City Hall and apologize.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: The judge says, Whatever you want.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: So he goes to trial, found guilty or pled guilty, and his sentence included coming up to see me in City Hall.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm a man of my word.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Uh one of the fellows in City Hall had a machete.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: And I put I put the machete right in front of me when this poor kid came in with his father.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: He saw it.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: The father began to stutter.
- 14:31SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: The kid began to stutter.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I said, I'm gonna use this machete.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: You have one more chance.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: I promise you this kid will never even think about graffiti again.
- 14:43SPEAKER_07: Okay, we're gonna take a quick break and we're gonna continue our conversation with former mayor Oscar Goodman.
- 14:49SPEAKER_07: There's so much to talk about.
- 14:50SPEAKER_07: Stick with us.
- 14:53unknown: Let's go.

- 15:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 15:47SPEAKER_07: Well, I was just gonna say, we're just in there.
- 15:49SPEAKER_07: We're just warming up.
- 15:50SPEAKER_07: And that's what I was gonna say.
- 15:51SPEAKER_07: I mean, all this stuff is I think we love it because you can tell where your heart is.
- 15:55SPEAKER_07: You really just love Las Vegas.
- 15:58SPEAKER_07: And that's why even after you're turned out, you can't run for mayor anymore.
- 16:01SPEAKER_07: Now your wife is, and you're the host, you're the chairman of the host committee for the LPC VA.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Permanent host committee.
- 16:07SPEAKER_07: And that's a fun job.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: It's a great job.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, is it bad uh getting a awoken or awakened or whatever happens in the morning?
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Two showgirls come up to the front door.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: Carolyn's already a city hall, they come to my side of the bed, they start applauding.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Is that bad?
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: No, great way to start the day.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: By noon, I'm slurring my words.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: I don't I can't stand up, but it's a wonderful way to live.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: And Carolyn says, How can you do this?
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: For 40 years you practice law, the toughest cases in the country.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: You work day and night.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Twelve years as a mayor, you went down every single day, seven days a week.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: You love being the mayor, and now you run around with showgirls and drink all day.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Is that bad, I said?
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: No.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: No, it's not.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: And you know, uh, she she she speaks out of both sides of her mouth, too, because I've seen her run around with those uh Chippandales.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, she has a lot of people.
- 17:06SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's what's so fun about Las Vegas, right?
- 17:08SPEAKER_08: And you know, uh we just changed the the slogan of Las Vegas.
- 17:13SPEAKER_08: What happens here stays here is ingrained in everybody's mind.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: But now we have something new.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, we do.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting the evolution of it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Um what happens here stays here is a result, and I was uh on the authority board at the time.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't think I was a chair at that time, but very much involved in what was happening.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: It was shortly after 9-11.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: On 9-12, uh about 30,000 of our workers were laid off for the hotels.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: The streets, you know, I get a kick out of myself.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: I used to complain uh that uh there's too much traffic uh out there, so it's hard to get around.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: But when we drove those streets on the 12th, there weren't any cars.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: There weren't any people coming up from California.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: It was like a ghost town here.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: So the uh advertising agency, I thought they were ingenious.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: They realized that people had to have a reason to come here.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: They had to feel that the weight of the world, which was caused by the first invasion on the United States turf in history, uh uh it could be put behind them.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Not that you forget it, not that you don't ache over it, but you have to think in terms of positive things.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: And they said, you know, our slogan should be what happens here stays here, as far as Las Vegas is concerned.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: It was a term of freedom and it worked.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: And the people began to come, and now, of course, we're booming again.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Uh but I guess it got a little old.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't think so.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: I I love the old uh what happens here stays here.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: But now we have a new one.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: Um what happens here only happens here.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: And the whole thrust is that Las Vegas is the only place in the world where everything is available for everybody when they come here.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And it's true.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: Uh we can you go to ball games now.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we have the uh Vegas Golden Knights, we're gonna have the Raiders, we have uh uh the rugby, we've got na our second NASCAR is coming up this weekend.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: I mean, just the the fight, the fury fight is coming up this week.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: It's just amazing.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: There's something for everybody to do all the time, and this is the only place like that.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: And you all you have to do is walk from one place to another, and entertainment, the best entertainers in the world are there for you.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: The greatest food in the world is there for you.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: You can't go to any other city where everything is concentrated in an area like Las Vegas and have all this available.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: So I think it's a great slogan.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I really do.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: I think it's I think it's an important slogan.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: And uh there's so many new things that are coming up uh this uh coming year.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: We have the uh uh what's the name of the world?
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: Uh World Resorts.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Resorts World.
- 19:47SPEAKER_07: Resorts World.
- 19:48SPEAKER_07: See, we were just talking about the name, how sometimes you flip it by mistake.
- 19:51SPEAKER_07: That's me.
- 19:51SPEAKER_07: That's on me.
- 19:52SPEAKER_07: But I am dumb.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: No, I said almost as dumb.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm not that dumb.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Resorts world.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: I saw I saw plans.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: I went up there and uh talked to Scott Sabella.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: Uh it's really gonna be special.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: It's huge, it's huge, and uh, the grounds are gonna be gorgeous, and they're gonna have great restaurants, and just gonna be a very, very cool place.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: And then we have Circa downtown with Dirk Stevens.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Uh it's gonna be the, I would imagine, the greatest race and sports book in the history of the world.
- 20:23SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Uh give uh give people an opportunity to see something spectacular.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: It's gonna have great restaurants.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Of course, I have my little Oscar's restaurant right across the street here.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Gonna benefit from that, which is nice.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: And uh the convention uh center is expanding.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: You know, uh people say you really don't need the convention center uh that uh Las Vegas sells itself.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Not true.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Um when I was on the board, we used to go over once a year to London to a national uh travel convention.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Every single little town, every single state, every single country, every single nation, all were competing for our business because we were number one, we still are, and they tried to knock number one off the perch.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Uh and they spent some money.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, they s you went to the uh uh the um the Emirates, and basically you thought that their booth was dripping from diamonds and gold.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: It probably was, it was just awesome.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: And uh other places were spending tons of money in order to attract business to come to them and to leave us, and all we had was me and my showgirls and my martinis.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: And I'll tell you something, they like the showgirls better than they like the gold.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Did they?
- 21:36SPEAKER_07: I love that.
- 21:37SPEAKER_07: Absolutely.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: We wrote so much business there, but we had to go after it.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: We had to hustle it because the competition is fierce and uh oh we're we're succeeding.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: So I don't want to hear that they don't need it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: They do need it.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Uh whether they want it or not is a different story, but they do need it.
- 21:54SPEAKER_08: But something else that Las Vegas has now that no other city does is a tunnel that is bored by Elon Musk.
- 22:01SPEAKER_08: That's correct.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: And uh uh if he's lucky, he'll probably end up in Mars or something.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Is that where the other end of the tunnel is?
- 22:08SPEAKER_08: I have no idea.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: I have no idea.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: All I know is I get the Wall Street Journal every once in a while, and there's always a story about him as to whether he's going broke or he's going to be another trillionaire.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: I I ri all I uh hope is that the uh the boring it's an amazing name for a company, a boring company.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: But I understand why they uh call it the boring company, because it's borers.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Uh and uh uh I I hope that it solves uh the the traffic flow.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: That's what it's all designed to do.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Apparently the customers, instead of walking 20 minutes from getting from one place to another during convention, uh will be able to get on that and get there in like 20 seconds, which is which is terrific.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Um the uh the convention center is going to be uh phenomenal.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: They're uh redoing everything that presently exists and adding over a million three uh square feet to the 3.2 million that's already exists.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: And we have to do it because if we don't keep up with it, uh you folks will not have a podcast.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 23:04SPEAKER_08: That's the truth.
- 23:05SPEAKER_08: Thank you.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: Thank you for for doing all of this for us.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: The only reason I'm doing it is for you.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, I'm doing a little bit because I got a drink.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Who's paying for this drink?
- 23:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Sean.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: She volunteered you.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: That's very good.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: She did.
- 23:20SPEAKER_08: I'll take my card out.
- 23:21SPEAKER_07: But it's true, all these things, I mean, it in the slogan only Vegas.
- 23:24SPEAKER_07: It's you know, we're gonna have this tunnel, we're gonna have this.
- 23:26SPEAKER_07: It's it and I see people using it on social media and saying only in only Vegas.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: I'm still not sure.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: I think I'm getting misadvised.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: I I was a little sober uh at the beginning of the Super Bowl.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: Uh the second half, forget about it.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: So 44 players on the field at one time.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: But uh right before they told me that they ran the ad pre-Super Bowl during the pre-broadcast.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know whether to take uh that as a slap, that it wasn't during the Super Bowl, which was the case several years ago.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: They refused to take our Las Vegas ads.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: I remember that.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Or whether that it was in in lieu of that, and I should not be upset.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Uh but uh until I find out uh I am not going to allow Roger Goodell to drink martinis at Oscar's.
- 24:11SPEAKER_07: Uh-oh.
- 24:12SPEAKER_07: Oscar's the place.
- 24:14SPEAKER_08: Consequences.
- 24:15SPEAKER_08: Consequences for bad ad placement.
- 24:17SPEAKER_08: That's the whole thing.
- 24:18SPEAKER_08: That's very true.
- 24:19SPEAKER_07: How's the restaurant going?
- 24:20SPEAKER_07: Good?
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: Terrific.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 24:22SPEAKER_07: You do your talks there.
- 24:23SPEAKER_07: You have your.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I do it about every six weeks.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: I I give a speech.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: Uh the next one is March the 5th.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: It's been sold out.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: It sells out the same night that I give the speech.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: People are getting angry at me now that they can't get a seat.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I may not show up for fear of uh not getting a seat.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: But I think this time I'm going to talk about an old client of mine, fascinating case, Jimmy Shagra.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know where that name rings a bell.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: When did you two get here?
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Uh 2005.
- 24:49SPEAKER_07: 2004.
- 24:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, I'm an old timer.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: And um uh in 1979, a federal judge down in Texas was assassinated.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: And um the government's theory of the case is that Woody Harrelson's father was a trigger man, and that my client, Jimmy Shagra, who was a giant gambler here, I mean, probably the biggest gambler they ever had in coming to town, that he paid for it because he was going to go into trial in front of Judge Wood, and Judge Wood was called Maximum John because he sentenced people to the most he could could sentence them to.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: And it was referred to as the trial of the century.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: There's always a trial of the century, you know.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: OJ, Jimmy's was a trial of the century back then.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: And um uh it's a great story, it's a it's a it's a neat story, and uh everybody was found guilty except my client, because on the eve of the trial, my client's wife wrote a letter to the judge's widow.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: She was a defendant in the case saying, Dear Mrs.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Wood, uh I was cooking fried chicken in my kitchen, and my husband came up to me and said, I'm gonna kill me a federal judge, but I had nothing to do with it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Well, uh, she was found guilty along with my uh uh my uh client's brother and Harrelson, the supposed uh shooter, and Harrelson's wife, and they moved my case uh down to uh Jacksonville, and I got it not guilty for him.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it was it was very, very cool.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: And I did some great things during the trial.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Even I have to say that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: I did some great things and uh what goes around comes around.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: I wasn't happy with the judge, not not Judge Wood, I didn't really know him, but with the judge who took it over, William Sessions, who then became head of the FBI.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Yep, and he got his uh I don't wish any bad on anybody at this time.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: That's wrong.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Uh but uh uh he he uh he he the he left in disgrace, so everything worked out.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's but I'm gonna tell that story.
- 26:38SPEAKER_07: That's a great story to remember all this stuff.
- 26:40SPEAKER_07: You've got such a good memory better than me.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: I have the biggest brain cells in the world.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: And people do not believe that.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: My brain cells are huge, and I attribute it all to the gin because other people do what I do, but they just don't drink as much gin.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: No, I need to catch up.
- 26:55SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Well, it's gonna take a little how old are you now?
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: 40.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: You don't have to do that.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: I have some time.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: You'll never catch up.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: You'll never catch up.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: You know, I I am I'm not leaving here.
- 27:06SPEAKER_07: I'm enjoying my talking forever.
- 27:10SPEAKER_08: You know, with your experience uh representing the mob here in Las Vegas, alleged mob, uh do you find yourself compelled to watch uh these mob uh TV shows and series that come out?
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I love the Sopranos.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Do you?
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: I think anybody who didn't like the Sopranos is probably blind and deaf and uh doesn't have their senses about them.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: I thought it was a great I thought it was a great piece of artwork, actually.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: I thought it was terrific.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: I I like Boardwalk Empire.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: I I thought that was very, very good.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: And those are the only two that I really paid any attention to because I like the I like the the uh storyline, I like the acting in it.
- 27:48SPEAKER_07: Just put them on.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Put this person on?
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, why not?
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:52SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: This could be Dennis Hoff's ghost.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: This poor Dennis Hoff.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: What a guy.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: He came down to hear one of my speeches.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Did he?
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, did he go to Plaza?
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: He was late and I screamed at him and I yelled at him, and then we became friends, and he he gave me a bare throat.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: Uh didn't call me the madam.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: It was something like that, I don't know.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: But uh you know, I represented our federal judge here, Judge Claiborne.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: And uh he was uh initially charged with bribing the owner of the Mustang Ranch, which was a brothel up in Story County, uh, and uh Conforti uh was the main witness against him, and we really made uh mincemeat out of Conforti, but ultimately they got the poor judge on a tax case, although they shouldn't have done it, but that's uh a whole story in and of itself.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: That was a sad day for for Las Vegas because he was the only judge impeached in the last century.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: And he was convicted of the tax case.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: But as far as the bribery and that kind of the venal stuff, uh it all went down the toilet.
- 28:53SPEAKER_07: Yeah, uh your stories are endless, and that's why that's why your things are sold out.
- 28:58SPEAKER_08: What is one to do when you have endless stories like this?
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: Well, you tell them to yourself because after a while people get tired of listening to them.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: And with my my brain cells, I can't forget.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: You know, it's great.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: My wife, who I love more than life itself, I wish this one would stop.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: It's okay.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: My my she's the greatest.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: She wakes up well, she doesn't sleep, but she sort of talks to me about two in the morning.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: And she says, What are what are the names of uh those two uh people that you were on the podcast with?
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm in the uh the middle of a deep sleep.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: And I said, Shauna Dana.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Go back to sleep.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: She knows.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: She knows what the gin does.
- 29:40SPEAKER_07: Oh, you remember it.
- 29:41SPEAKER_07: I love that.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Well, she knows what the gin does.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: She does.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: I you know, every night I sit in front.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Uh I have bets when every game I could show you my little betting.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Well, you like it?
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Like, sure.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: It's a sickness, it's a sickness.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: And I uh I mean you you don't die from this.
- 29:55SPEAKER_07: You brace embrace everything, Las Vegas, and I think that's the best part from gaming.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: I like to live every single second.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: You do.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: It's great, it's great.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Ball game.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: By the way, how'd you do on the Super Bowl?
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: I lost.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: You could ask me, I I have the same uh answer for you in any question you ask about sports.
- 30:11SPEAKER_05: You lose?
- 30:11SPEAKER_05: Oh no.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: Because yesterday I was hotter than a firecracker.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: I went one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: I won nine out of ten basketball vets.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Oh really?
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Yes, these are my little bets.
- 30:24SPEAKER_07: And you carry them around.
- 30:25SPEAKER_07: Oh, did you ask you?
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, no, you're oh, you have to carry them around.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: I got my bets here.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: I bet one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve games today.
- 30:34SPEAKER_08: Look at that.
- 30:35SPEAKER_08: In the heat of all the action with March Madness, I want to sit down and watch those games with you.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: You need it.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: You need the action when you're a trial lawyer and you're in court all day and you're fighting every FBI agent, every DEA agent in the world, fighting the judges, fighting them taking your fee from you, seizing your car from you, as always happened with me.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: They took my Rolls-Royce.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Now serious.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: That's a story in and of itself.
- 30:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that is a story.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: And um fighting and fighting, you can't go to sleep.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: You have to have action.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: So every night, that's when I became a real degenerate.
- 31:07SPEAKER_08: We could have this go on for uh the next ten episodes.
- 31:10SPEAKER_08: I love it.
- 31:12SPEAKER_08: Okay, good.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: Now if Villanova wins tonight and covers the spread, Sean, uh Dan, are you a sports fan?
- 31:19SPEAKER_07: I am a sports fan.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, the two of you put a little money down.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: A little bit.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: Just try it out.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: And if you win, I'll let you buy me a drink at Oscar.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: That's a deal.
- 31:30SPEAKER_07: That sounds like such a great deal.
- 31:31SPEAKER_07: Is the parking free there?
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, good.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 31:34SPEAKER_07: Because that's like, you know, so controversial now, the paid parking.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: And I think it's very bad.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do anything to kill the golden goose.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: This town has been so good to me, and it's supposed to be a bargain.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: And to me, it's penny ante.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: I don't care how much money they make because whatever they come in with, they're not going to leave with it.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: They're going to leave it with you if you own one of these joints.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: And uh the charge for parking, it just seems foolish to me because it just makes people angry.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: But worse than that is a stupid tax they don't tell you about.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: A resort fee?
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Resort fee.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: I would be hotter than a firecracker if I came into one of these places.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: I'm paying$300 for a room and I get a uh a bill for$400, and I say, what's that for?
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: The resort fee.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: I would burn the place down.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: No, I wouldn't.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I would have one of my clients burn the place down.
- 32:20SPEAKER_07: Oh my gosh.
- 32:23SPEAKER_08: Oscar, you know, for uh for a guy who came to town not knowing uh a soul, you've you've progressed pretty darn well.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Well, it's a great town, as you know.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, look at you.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: You you have a whole new future.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: You had great uh careers uh in the media, and now uh you're you have your own program, your own company.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah uh people are gonna hire you, you're gonna make a lot of money, and uh you're gonna be happy.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: And that's the main thing.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Just be true to yourself, be honest when you look in the mirror in the morning.
- 32:52SPEAKER_07: Thank you, Oscar.
- 32:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's true.
- 32:53SPEAKER_07: I mean, it's um if people keep trying to get me to leave, well, should you take a job here?
- 32:57SPEAKER_07: And I don't, I just can't leave.
- 32:58SPEAKER_07: I love it.
- 32:59SPEAKER_07: No, I love it.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: You don't need a job.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: Vegas for life.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: You got a podcast, you don't need a job.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: How does a podcast work?
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: Uh can I play it?
- 33:08SPEAKER_07: Uh yes, you can play it.
- 33:09SPEAKER_07: We'll teach you.
- 33:10SPEAKER_07: We're gonna make you we're gonna go on your phone, we're gonna download it for you, subscribe, and then you're gonna give us five stars.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: I'm happy to do that.
- 33:17SPEAKER_08: I don't know how to turn on my phone.
- 33:20SPEAKER_08: Oscar Goodman, always a pleasure.
- 33:22SPEAKER_08: Thank you so much.
- 33:24SPEAKER_08: Thank you, and good luck to you.
- 33:24SPEAKER_08: Cheers.
- 33:25SPEAKER_08: Cheers as well.

- 34:05SPEAKER_08: Thanks for listening to Vegas Revealed.
- 34:17SPEAKER_07: Keep Memory Alive's 24th annual Power of Love Gal is on March 7th.
- 34:21SPEAKER_07: It's at the MGM Grand.
- 34:23SPEAKER_07: They're going to be honoring Neil Diamond this year, who announced his retirement from touring due to his Parkinson's disease diagnosis.
- 34:29SPEAKER_07: And in the studio with us, we have Keep Memory Alive's director, Anna Robbins, and Camille Ruvo, the co-founder of Keep Memory Alive.
- 34:36SPEAKER_07: And we are just so honored to have you both here.
- 34:38SPEAKER_07: Welcome.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 34:40SPEAKER_07: Now, let's just first of all talk about this is like the big, big event of the year, especially in Las Vegas.
- 34:46SPEAKER_07: But so much work goes into it, right?
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we we spend most of the year thinking and planning this night that's gonna happen on March 7th.
- 34:56SPEAKER_08: I mean, I know how spectacular this event is, and I imagine it's gotta take a lot of time, but a whole year in advance, that's a I mean, that's a ton of work.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: Well, we already know the 2021 date.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: So any indication about how far in advance we start planning.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: You have to.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: You cannot do an event this spectacular without an awful lot of planning.
- 35:19SPEAKER_07: I mean, celebrities come from all over and show their support.
- 35:21SPEAKER_07: The Las Vegas community comes out and shows their support.
- 35:24SPEAKER_07: It all benefits the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which we are so lucky to have here in Las Vegas.
- 35:29SPEAKER_07: And some people listening outside of Las Vegas might not even know that it's here.
- 35:33SPEAKER_07: You gave me a tour last year, and I was astounded at how much um goes into it, and you were even saying you need to expand.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Yes, we do.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: We do.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: We um this year alone, we we built the building with thinking that the the at the top there would be 10,000 uh patient visitors ten years ago when we opened.
- 35:55SPEAKER_03: Now this year in 2020, we expect to see close to 40,000 patient visits.
- 36:00SPEAKER_07: Oh, incredible.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: And so it's growing.
- 36:03SPEAKER_07: You were saying you could have never done this without the community support and the people that come out to the Power of Love Gala.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: The support that we receive from our local community, they've come out, they believe in us, they believe in what we're doing, and they understand it better than any community that I've ever seen.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: I've been to a lot of fundraising events outside of the Las Vegas area.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: I've never seen anything more spectacular than the Las Vegas community.
- 36:29SPEAKER_08: And as we mentioned, it is a spectacular event.
- 36:32SPEAKER_08: But I I before we get into the details of of the event that's coming up here real soon, uh let's get more into what this world-renowned Center for Brain Health does and the advancements that are being made right here in Las Vegas that are impacting so many people around the globe.
- 36:50SPEAKER_08: It's incredible.
- 36:51SPEAKER_03: We used to say if you have pain, get on a plane living here in Las Vegas.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: I think for the first time in a really long time, it's wonderful that we have these highly ranked professionals here in Las Vegas.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: And what I say professionals, I don't just mean the doctors, the administrators as well.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: They are all very, very professional.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: You come in, there are no waiting rooms at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruveau Center for Brain Health, because you don't want stage one looking at stage four.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: So as soon as a patient shows up, you are immediately greeted by a volunteer who will take you upstairs to an examining room.
- 37:30SPEAKER_03: You wait in your examining room, you and your caregiver, and your examination will take place there.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: When you leave, every patient walks out with a flower and a carnation.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: No matter how many times you come, you still receive your flower.
- 37:43SPEAKER_03: And they've our patients have actually come to uh expect the flower, so it's kind of nice.
- 37:49SPEAKER_08: And why is that?
- 37:49SPEAKER_08: What is it does that flower symbolize something?
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: It it it is our way to say thank you.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: Thank you for letting us care for you and your family.
- 37:58SPEAKER_07: That's really special.
- 37:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_07: And it's hard when you you know, it it's a lot, it's a lot on the family, and like you were just mentioning, it's a lot on the person, but all the people around them, too.
- 38:07SPEAKER_07: And I know that just like you were saying, it's bringing comfort to the entire family or the caregiver if they're not related in this situation, right?
- 38:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, the the caregiver takes on the brunt of these diseases because it's a 24-7 job.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: They don't get a holiday, they don't get a weekend, they can they in addition to not having any time off, they feel guilty if they want to take any time off.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: So we have social services programs in place in addition to everything else that we're doing, which is also clinical trials.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: We have social services programs that provide services to help the caregiver and help them cope during each stage of all the diseases that we deal with.
- 38:51SPEAKER_07: Obviously, at the gala, uh this is talked about and people know why they're there, and it's about having fun and it's a special night, but it's also about raising funds and and keeping things moving because, like you said, it's it's constant growth, right?
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: It's um it's been a pleasant surprise.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: We don't like that we have so many patient visits.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: We'd rather have less than more, of course.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: But we do realize that we're offering the greatest of care.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: So it makes us feel good.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: It sort of gives Larry and I and Anna and I think the rest of the team to continue on giving the greatest possible event called Power of Love.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: Because it's our way of saying to the community, look, we cannot do this without you.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: We lose money on every patient that we see.
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: That's really, I mean, your podcast is called Vegas Revealed.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: I'm revealing a secret that most people don't really know.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: So we lose uh for every patient we see, we receive money.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: We if if you if our doctors spend an hour with a patient, that hour is we receive maybe$25, say.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: Maybe$28 for every patient.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: So we lose an awful lot of money every time we see a patient, which we don't mind doing because we have this great support of the community and power of love to help supplement that loss.
- 40:17SPEAKER_08: And and obviously this is uh something that's impacting a tremendous number of people, but uh keep memory alive was born out of something very personal, wasn't it?
- 40:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: My my husband's father had Alzheimer's, and he went undiagnosed for a very long time.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: And we took him out of town and finally took a doctor, Dr.
- 40:39SPEAKER_03: Thaw, Leon Thaul, who helped us actually.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: He he was the motivator um as to how we got to the Cleveland Clinic, Blue Ruval Center for Brain Health, but he was the one who finally diagnosed my father-in-law after two and a half years.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: And he was in a clinical trial and he was taking medication that wasn't FDA approved, and five I think uh it was five hundred dollars for a hundred pills.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: It's very expensive.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: Wow, that is crazy.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: Very expensive.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: So the average person probably would look at that and say, well, I I'd do anything to save my loved one, but at that at what cost?
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: At what cost?
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:17SPEAKER_08: And Anna, uh, explain what what Keep Memory Alive is doing in relation to what the hospital provides.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: We support all of the programs that we offer to all the families and the caregivers.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: We're really charged with going out and engaging the community to not only raise money but support with volunteer hours and other ways of getting community members involved so that we can continue with the service lines that we offer, but also expand our caregiving and support services to family members and community members.
- 41:50SPEAKER_07: And I know this you you got you guys are honoring uh Neil Diamond.
- 41:54SPEAKER_07: How do you come up with who you're going to honor uh and highlight every year?
- 41:58SPEAKER_07: Is that is that a difficult task?
- 42:00SPEAKER_07: Is it the list is too long, or how does that work?
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: List can always be as long as it wants to be.
- 42:10SPEAKER_07: Um Neil's just, I mean, uh his music and and what he he's just great.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: Um Neil Neil Diamond, we uh we have a list of people who we would love to have, but it doesn't necessarily always come together the way we envision it to.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: Um Neil Diamond has Parkinson's and he's ready to I think start exploring and talking about it.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: We my husband and I, Larry and I uh were with him last week.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: He and his wife, we went to his recording studio, and his voice is as great as we all remember it to be.
- 42:50SPEAKER_03: I was really pleased to to hear that he has such a beautiful voice.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: I can't even begin to describe how great he sounds.
- 43:00SPEAKER_03: So picking from the list, that's a group of people that Anna um gets together.
- 43:06SPEAKER_03: You know, we'll we'll brainstorm all the time.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's a constant brainstorm.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: You should be at dinner with my husband and I somebody.
- 43:12SPEAKER_03: My goodness.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: That'd be fun.
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: We're there, we're there.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: I get random texts throughout the night.
- 43:19SPEAKER_07: I love it.
- 43:20SPEAKER_07: Well, yeah, well, this is gonna be a special night, and I was just reading uh you have folks coming, like Tony Braxton, right?
- 43:26SPEAKER_07: Billy Ray Cyrus, uh, Babyface is gonna be there, Sammy Hagar, also Andy Gramer, Chris Isaac.
- 43:32SPEAKER_07: What a lineup.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a showstopping night, and we really we do our best to make sure we give our constituents, our guests, our donors the best night possible.
- 43:44SPEAKER_08: And two other people who are being recognized at the gala are Dr.
- 43:48SPEAKER_08: Miriam and Sheldon Adelson.
- 43:49SPEAKER_08: We're sitting here in the palazzo, the Adelsons building their casino here on the strip.
- 43:55SPEAKER_08: Why why are are they being recognized this year?
- 43:58SPEAKER_03: Well, they have been uh Great supporters of Keep Memory Alive from the very beginning.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: Um even when we even though we started at Spago in um the forum shops, we then moved over to Post uh Post Rio here, here at the Venetian, not the plaza, but at the Venetian.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: And we did our event there for I want to think eight years, about eight years we did our event at that restaurant as well.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: They have been behind us every step of the way.
- 44:28SPEAKER_03: And you know, we've we've tried e for several years we've been wanting to do this, and with conflicts and dates, it's taken us some time, and finally we're we have an opportunity to thank them in front of the entire community and and let the community know how deserving they are of this award.
- 44:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I know people that save up all year just to make sure that they can go to this event.
- 44:48SPEAKER_07: I mean it's very special to them.
- 44:50SPEAKER_07: Lay out the night for people who don't know, maybe have never been, um, and maybe st want to start you know being a part of it.
- 44:56SPEAKER_07: What do we expect when we when we walk in?
- 44:58SPEAKER_07: How does the night go?
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: Well, I think there's a lot of ways you can really support the event, not just attending and buying that ticket, but we have over a hundred volunteers who volunteer their time that night.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: We have a hundred wine someliers who come and make sure that they're pouring our wines perfectly with each meal.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: Um so there's a lot of community behind it, but as a guest, you can expect to have every aspect of your night thought of.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: We try to do our best to make sure that from the time they come to the front door or pick up the phone and call us, they have the best experience possible.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Very similar to what we do at the clinic.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: We think of every movement of our guests and our patients.
- 45:36SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 45:36SPEAKER_07: And all these and there will be performances too, right?
- 45:38SPEAKER_07: So there'll be entertainment and all the people I just mentioned will probably do a little something, I'm assuming.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: It'll be singing and not just showing us.
- 45:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: You put them to work, right?
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: And we have Wolfgang Ba uh uh Wolfgang Puck and Morimoto cooking a spectacular meal, and so it'll be a top-notch event.
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: It it's it's it seems to be going in the direction of one of our top events.
- 46:03SPEAKER_08: And and that's incredible when you have people like Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion and Tony Bennett who have all been part of this in the past to say that it's I think it's gonna be right.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: That's incredible.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of energy around all of this and Neil Diamond and just the phone calls we've received and the interest.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: There's like we can it's you can feel the energy.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: And especially now that we're only a handful of days around.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: It's getting very exciting.
- 46:29SPEAKER_07: And you guys, you get some incredible things on that silent auction list, right?
- 46:34SPEAKER_07: And now can people bid if they're not there?
- 46:37SPEAKER_07: Okay, so you can go online and bid and do all that.
- 46:40SPEAKER_07: Okay, so you don't actually have to be there to help, like you were saying.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: There's many ways in which to give.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, they can even go online and and give twenty dollars if they feel compelled to do that.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: There's no doubt that it is a very expensive ticket.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: We realize that.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: But that's why it's ever more important that we give you so much of a night so that you don't you walk out of there and you remember that and you feel good about what you've done.
- 47:04SPEAKER_03: I've done good for a great cause, and boy, did I drink some great wines and taste some delicious food and the desserts that are move there's moving desserts and great entertainment.
- 47:18SPEAKER_03: I don't know where else you can go and get all that.
- 47:21SPEAKER_08: And Anna, you mentioned Wolfgang Puck once again going to be a part of this.
- 47:26SPEAKER_08: And um uh Camille, he really dates back to the very beginning.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: Yes, he does.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: He does.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: He started this.
- 47:33SPEAKER_03: Yes, we couldn't do it without Wolfgang.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: There's a story that goes back to, I think it was the second year that we did it.
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: I could have my, it could be I'm almost positive it was the second or maybe the third year we did it.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: And uh Wolfgang used to close Spo down.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: He would close SPAGO in the forum shops, and he told Larry, he said, Look, I have this up-and-coming chef, and I really want him to cook with me.
- 47:58SPEAKER_03: And that's how we always had these part.
- 48:00SPEAKER_03: This is the beginning of the partnership of chefs with Wolfgang and celebrity chef, Wolfgang and Celebrity Chef, and this is when the celebrity chef idea was just coming around.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: And um Larry said, Great, you know, whoever whoever you want to bring with you, Wolf, bring.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: So it wound up being Nobu.
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: And this is when he he had already had Matsuhisu in in Los Angeles, but then he wound up being a uh household name.
- 48:28SPEAKER_08: The up and coming chef.
- 48:29SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 48:30SPEAKER_05: Who knew?
- 48:31SPEAKER_05: Who knew?
- 48:31unknown: Exactly.
- 48:32SPEAKER_07: Oh my goodness.
- 48:33SPEAKER_07: Well, before we close, I wanted to quickly mention um the center.
- 48:37SPEAKER_07: That's a place too that people have events, and that's a really unique idea I know that you guys thought of.
- 48:42SPEAKER_07: Have your events here, and that money also goes to the clinic, right?
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: It does, and we're busy every day booking weddings and corporate events and um product launches, and we partner with different conventions coming in town, and we raise a heck of a lot of money in that center that goes all back to our services and our patients.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: So when the lights go down in the clinic, we say they go on in the event center, and we continue to raise money and awareness.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: All those people coming into our center from all over the world, they may be coming to their corporate event, but they also get to leave with our message.
- 49:18SPEAKER_08: And and for people who are out of town who may not be familiar with the facility itself, explain the visual and architectural significance of the building because that is I mean, it's just spectacular.
- 49:33SPEAKER_03: Well, as I said earlier, if you've ever been to dinner with my husband and where our wheels are spinning and was that one of the things that sprung out of dinner?
- 49:42SPEAKER_03: Well, it was a uh so the creativity is constantly being discussed.
- 49:46SPEAKER_03: And what about this and what about that?
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: And we were at one of my daughter's volleyball games, and the initial um idea behind uh before it was Lou Ruveau Center for Brain Health, was we needed a facility, desperately needed a facility to put Larry's father in.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: And we had a very hard time finding a place when he became in the later stages of Alzheimer's to find a place to put him.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: And after searching and going from place to place, and one was more dirty than the other, and who was just slumped over in a chair, it was very difficult.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: And so the goal behind our dinners was to build a facility for the patient, and if you can believe this, for the caregiver, because we had plans for this.
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: We had architectural plans for this.
- 50:36SPEAKER_03: But after meeting with Dr.
- 50:38SPEAKER_03: Thaw, and he was watching and seeing how much money we were raising, we didn't realize that that was a lot of money.
- 50:43SPEAKER_03: We just thought that's what happens in charitable fundraisers.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: He said, No, you're raising an awful lot of money in one night.
- 50:50SPEAKER_03: You need to do more, you need to do more for those diseases.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: You could potentially help find a cure with the that kind of money.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: So we were at my daughter's volleyball game one day, and my husband was not paying much attention to the volleyball game.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: I noticed he was up, he was down, he was in the state, he and he was and finally I went up to him, I said, Is everything okay?
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: He goes, I gotta think of a way to get attention to the diseases.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: And it's not gonna be some bricks and mortar type of building, it's gotta be some great architectural uh person who gets behind it.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: So when people go by the building, they go, What's going on inside that building?
- 51:31SPEAKER_03: And so the um Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, my husband decides he's gonna reach out to Frank Geary.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Frank Geary, as soon as my husband made the appointment with him, my husband goes in and meets with Frank Geary, and Frank Geary said, I'm not building a building in Las Vegas.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: And my husband said, You know what?
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: You made an appointment with me for one hour.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: I want my one hour.
- 52:00SPEAKER_03: He said, Okay, sit down.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: And three hours later, they were still talking.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: He never committed.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: Frank Geary never committed at that point.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: They had another appointment.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: I went back with Larry about two weeks later, and Frank Geary came up to me, introduces himself to me.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: He's very kind man, very direct, but extremely kind and warm.
- 52:23SPEAKER_03: And he said, Have you ever made mud pies with somebody when you were a kid?
- 52:27SPEAKER_03: And I said, Oh yeah.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: And he goes, I feel like I made mud pies with your husband.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna do this building.
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: He told me and announced it at that and in that manner.
- 52:37SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna make mud pies with your husband.
- 52:39SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness.
- 52:39SPEAKER_03: We just had dinner with him on Sunday.
- 52:41SPEAKER_03: Wow, incredible! We've become very good friends with him and his wife, Berta.
- 52:45SPEAKER_08: And all these ideas coming together, it's just really and I have to say the building uh doesn't resemble a mud pie at all.
- 52:53SPEAKER_08: It's marvelous.
- 52:54SPEAKER_08: I mean, you you go by and it's just it's a spectacular, spectacular facility.
- 52:59SPEAKER_08: So kudos to Larry for making those mud pies.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you, there's no no one like my husband when it comes to going after what he wants.
- 53:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 53:09SPEAKER_03: We wouldn't be where we are today without that.
- 53:12SPEAKER_07: No.
- 53:12SPEAKER_07: And it's becoming sadly, I hear more and more.
- 53:15SPEAKER_07: I feel like I know someone who knows someone who has dementia, Alzheimer's, and things that we need this clinic for.
- 53:22SPEAKER_07: Um, like you said, sadly we don't want that to be the situation.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: But we would love nothing more.
- 53:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: But I will tell you that in the 10 years that we've been open, we have made great strides in the disease.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: So there is some hope.
- 53:35SPEAKER_03: Don't give up hope.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: There is something on the horizon.
- 53:38SPEAKER_03: They're constantly working on something, and there may be some good news for you for some people in the very near future.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: Right.

- 54:36SPEAKER_08: Expect something different each week on Vegas Reveal.
- 54:45SPEAKER_07: It's time for Dana and Sean's secret tips.
- 54:48SPEAKER_07: Today, I have one, and I'm talking open table.
- 54:50SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 54:51SPEAKER_07: Okay, it's a secret to some, some know about it, some don't.
- 54:53SPEAKER_07: But here's the deal a lot of people come to Las Vegas, they visit, and they spend a lot of time trying to get into restaurants.
- 54:59SPEAKER_07: But I say do your research ahead of time.
- 55:02SPEAKER_07: You can book on open table, which is really great, and then you can adjust it as it gets closer.
- 55:08SPEAKER_07: Okay, so you want to change the party size, maybe you want to adjust the time.
- 55:12SPEAKER_07: So you can make changes as you go along.
- 55:14SPEAKER_07: But secure your spot now.
- 55:16SPEAKER_07: Look at the restaurants you definitely want to go to, look to the ones that you're interested in, and just book them.
- 55:21SPEAKER_07: And then you can adjust or cancel or change.
- 55:23SPEAKER_07: And here's the cool thing: you gather up all sorts of points.
- 55:26SPEAKER_07: Recently, I just got a$50 dining credit to use.
- 55:30SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because I had booked so many times.
- 55:31SPEAKER_08: And this is through Open Table.
- 55:32SPEAKER_07: Just through Open Table.
- 55:33SPEAKER_07: So even if you're gonna go somewhere sometimes in an hour and you want to reserve a table, you just reserve it.
- 55:38SPEAKER_07: Once you get in, they clear it, and then you get a certain amount of points.
- 55:40SPEAKER_07: So you can earn all sorts of credits.
- 55:42SPEAKER_07: It's really cool, it's very, very helpful, especially for a trip here to Las Vegas.
- 55:46SPEAKER_08: Very cool.
- 55:47SPEAKER_08: Okay, so you know how if you pull up to a gaming table in the casino, you really want to feel like you're a high roller, right?
- 55:55SPEAKER_08: Well, yeah.
- 55:56SPEAKER_08: Okay, so if you really want to feel like that, but you don't have the bank account to back that up, what you want to do is drive out to Henderson.
- 56:06SPEAKER_08: Henderson is one of the suburbs right here in the Las Vegas Valley, and go out to Boulder Highway.
- 56:12SPEAKER_08: There's a little place called Joker's Wild.
- 56:14SPEAKER_07: Ooh, that sounds fun.
- 56:16SPEAKER_08: Uh, it has been around forever.
- 56:19SPEAKER_08: It has been around forever, and is one of my favorite places to go because they have 25 cent roulette.
- 56:28SPEAKER_07: No way, that's right up my alley.
- 56:30SPEAKER_07: Are you serious?
- 56:31SPEAKER_07: I'm going.
- 56:32SPEAKER_08: So you put a 20 down on that table and you get a stack of chips that makes you feel like a millionaire.
- 56:38SPEAKER_08: It's amazing.
- 56:39SPEAKER_08: And not only do they have the 25 cent roulette, they have uh craps, which is a dollar minimum Monday through Thursday, and then on weekends, Friday through Sunday, it goes up to a$2 minimum.
- 56:51SPEAKER_08: But they also have$3 blackjack and uh$3 blackjack shoes.
- 56:57SPEAKER_08: So you can't beat these prices.
- 56:59SPEAKER_08: And I know a lot of people who have actually won some good money there, too.
- 57:04SPEAKER_08: And if you ever wanted to just slide a stack of chips out onto the table and let it ride, Joker's Wild is the place to do it.
- 57:12SPEAKER_08: Boulder's uh Boulder Highway out in Henderson.
- 57:15SPEAKER_07: I'm there.
- 57:16SPEAKER_07: Okay, great tip, Sean.
- 57:17SPEAKER_07: Love it.
- 57:18SPEAKER_07: Listen, it's been a packed show today.
- 57:20SPEAKER_07: Uh, we've enjoyed it so much.
- 57:22SPEAKER_07: So many laughs there with Oscar Goodman and uh such great information that we talked to Camille Ruvo about the Power of Love Gala that's coming up.
- 57:29SPEAKER_07: Again, if you want to check that out, it's March 7th.
- 57:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah, and we'll have uh more on the Power of Love Gala in the next couple weeks here on Vegas Reveal.
- 57:37SPEAKER_08: Thanks for listening.
