- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Hey ladies, I'm Rachel Farham.
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to another episode of Ladies Love Country.
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: Ladies Love Country.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Ladies Love Country.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Today we're joined by Rachel Farham.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: In 2017, she was the winner of the Star Maker competition, and now she's an unstoppable force in the country scene.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Touring with Jordan Davis and her album, Who You Are, killing it on the charts.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Ladies, please welcome Rachel.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the storm.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: That was really sweet.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: I loved hearing that.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: That was lovely.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: It's amazing.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: You've achieved so much already in such a short period of time.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Honestly, I feel like everything's kind of happened all at once.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Like I've been doing this for so so long.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: But since um, you know, jumping up on tour with Jordan Davis, things have kind of snowballed, and I'm having the absolute best time of my life right now.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: That is all that matters.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's the best.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank you.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: How is touring touring with Jordan Davis?
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Um, literally the most surreal experience of my entire life.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Just being on a stage that big because we did um we did Kudos, we did Rod Laver, and then we did um Rack Arena in Perth.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And just being on a stage that had, I don't know, so much equipment and so many amazing musos and just people that have been there before me, and being like, oh my gosh, I'm on the same stage, just a few hours earlier.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was incredible.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: And I I can't wait to hopefully one day do it all again.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: But just being in that moment was the most insane.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Do you have a favorite show or a favourite moment from like the whole tour?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's a good question.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Um I think my favourite show was probably Sydney because I'm from Sydney, so I had a lot of friends and family there, and that's really important to me that the people that I love come and support, and I can be like, oh my gosh, guys, look at me.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I don't know, as far as a moment on the tour, being backstage and hearing Tucker Wetmore rehearse uh was pretty fun.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Like he was in his dressing room, which was across the hall from me, and I'm sitting in my dressing room, like, everyone be quiet.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I feel like all the girls would be dying to be in your spot.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm not gonna lie, he did have his shirt off for the time.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: When he came on stage, I was like, nice.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: No, he everyone was so lovely, and it was really cool to be in that environment and just see how the Americans do it, you know.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Do you feel like you like learned anything or like noticed something that you like hadn't noticed before, like something that happened like behind the scenes that like maybe in like the preparation or like the pre-show ritual that like you could take away?
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, kind of, like it was just I think having a big team around me for those shows was really helpful because I'm used to kind of going to gigs and having you know my smaller team, but everyone was so on board to just do the bits and pieces.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: And I I don't even you know, going into the bits and pieces, it's probably gonna be a bit boring, but just like making sure that we have dinner on time and like all that kind of stuff.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: So I think something I learnt was to surround myself with people that are you know gonna be fun to be around because you are spending hours backstage kind of doing nothing, yeah, just waiting.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Um, but one thing I did learn on stage um in one of the performances was that the reason why everyone has their two in-ears in.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you guys have heard this before.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: So usually when you're on a smaller stage, you have one of your in-ears in, and that's so that you can hear yourself, but you can also hear the ambience of the room.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I tried to take one of my in-ears out because I got the advice, put both in, and I was like, I just want to see.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: So I took it out, and it was the most confusing thing in the world because you're hearing the echo of the whole stadium, and you're hearing like I don't know, just all these extra sounds and delays, and I was like, I'm not doing that again.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: So you just put both in.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Put both in.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: But then you don't really hear the audience, so you kind of are in your own little world.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: So that was something I learned.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I should have just listened to the advice to you.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Can you see?
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: This is like more just for my personal knowledge, when you're on stage, can you see people like reacting to you while you're on stage, or is it so like dark and the lights so bright that you can't really see what's going on?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: You can see like the front people, okay, and like on the on the seating at Kudos specifically, I remember, you could see like the first few rows of seats, but everything else is black.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, it feels like you're in a bit of a fishbowl because you're just looking out and everything's so dark.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, I loved it though.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: This is the best time.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Because I always think, like, you know, when people put on TikTok or whatever, like, oh, like I'm trying to like get him to like look me in the eyes, or like when they love a guy on stage.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I'm always like, can the people actually see you on stage?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Not really, unless you're like right down in the front and there's like a bit of the stage lights that's being thrown onto the front of the audience.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you can't really see much.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So to get Tucker's attention will have to be fine.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Literally.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: So you said it snowballed from that tour a bit.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Tell us, walk us through how it kind of developed from there and like helped your career, I guess.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: So um jumping up on stage with Jordan and doing uh Mess with Missing You, we did together, and I just I was like, I can die and go to heaven right now.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, I practiced that song inside out.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Um, but jumping up on stage and doing that, and then you know, having the content to post and on TikTok, people were like loving seeing it, which was amazing.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Um and then just seeing a bit of a following kind of growing as well from being like I've just been on tour with Jordan Davis.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Like people kind of recognized my music a little bit more, and then releasing the album and doing my tour.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: It's just been this flow-on effect, and now that I'm doing shows around Australia, you know, as part of the Who You Are tour, I'm getting people come up to me and like, Oh, we found you at Jordan Davis, which is crazy.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it's felt very um, yeah, it's felt really cool.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: It's such a um great way for you to get your music out there, like supporting a huge artist like that.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Like it's yeah, and he's one of my faves.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Like, I when people say to me, Can I listen to country music?
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Like, what's my what's my intro to country music?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm like Jordan Davis, and that's been my go-to since years ago.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so yeah, I would definitely agree.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I love Jordan Davis.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, how long in advance did you know that you were gonna be jumping up on stage?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like sometimes you hear about people and it's like such a quick turnaround to like learn a new song.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Because like, did you know that song?
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: No, so I I did only because I did my research.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: So I um looked at his American support act, Mackenzie Carpenter.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, his US Support Act, I should say, sorry.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Um, and then the European part of the tour, I looked at that support act, which was Avery Anna, and they both did different songs on the tour.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: But I just looked at Mackenzie and I was like, I'm gonna just learn the song that she's been learning, just in case that's the song that Jordan asked me to do.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Anyway, right, like it was like eight months I was listening to the song and I was like learning all the parts that Carly Pierce does, like the little like inflections that she uses and like how she says certain words so that I could like 100% lock into how Jordan was doing it.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it wasn't just like I was listening to the song as a fan, I was like, I'm learning it back to front.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: That is manifestation at its finest.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Well, the funny thing is in Sydney I didn't actually jump up on stage with Jordan because Carly was around.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, and I have to admit, the part of me was really disappointed because I'd been practicing and that was the first show, and I was like, Okay, uh, well, of course Carly's gonna get up and see if she has to, but I was like, Oh, I've done all this prep.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Like, will it actually happen?
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: And then in Melbourne, um, we were backstage and I was talking to him and I was like, Thank you so much for having me on the tour, and it was just a very organic, natural conversation.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: And he asked me if I wanted to get up in Perth, and I was like, Yeah, of course, but like, is there any chance that maybe you can also get me up tonight?
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: And he said yes, and then changed the whole set list just so that I could get up and do mess with mess with missing you with him.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: That's a tongue twister.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, anyway.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: You're like, I just have to go learn.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just have to go and practice like I've been practicing for eight months.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's so cute.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: And then, so since then, you've um you've obviously got some some really exciting things coming up.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Do you want to tell us about where we're going next week?
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, we're going to CMA Fest! Let's go! First, our first yes on the Rachel Vime tour.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, can't wait to have you guys.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: I want the ladies of country tours.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Do you have a fan?
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Do you have a fan uh name for your fans?
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: No, I don't.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, you need we need to get on to that.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: I'm not good in thinking of it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: No, it doesn't really feel like we should brainstorm.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: We can't.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it definitely works.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Because I've thought about it, but I don't know.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I've just never really landed on one that works.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: It's more I was gonna call us, whatever it was.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I'll just call you the fam.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the fam.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Done.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: So CMA fest is gonna be incredible.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: I think we're gonna have the best time.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: I think so too.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Tell us about what you're what you're gonna be doing there.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: So I'm doing the spotlight stage on June 6th.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Um, time TBC.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll post about that soon.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but then I'm also doing a few things with Sounds Australia, which is really exciting to be involved in, you know, some Aussie things and also some Nashvillean things.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's gonna be the best time.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: I think we're there, uh sorry, the team and I are there for eight days.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: And yeah, just gonna have a bunch of fun.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: See people, see performances, obviously do some work.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: I guess like you guys are doing, you know, you're doing work as well.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Like you guys are gonna be over there doing your thing.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: So hopefully we get to meet up.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Definitely.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: No, we definitely will.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: So you've been to Nashville a couple times before.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I have, yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: So mostly for songwriting sessions and you know, meetings and stuff.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Um, but this will be my first CMA fest.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Very exciting.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: I I would love to actually know the solid count of how many times I've been to Nashville.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: I think I have a feeling it's about seven.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Wow, yeah.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: So you have you got some rides booked in?
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, not this time, no.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you do.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: But knowing me, I'll probably get there and I'll be like, hey, let's write tomorrow.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Because that's kind of how Nashville is.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: It's just all very last minute.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, you you meet somebody and then the next day you're, I don't know, going out for coffee or going out for a ride session, you know, downtown.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's fun.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I feel like we experienced that just without the writing part.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Oh kind of.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, we did one writing session.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I was actually about to say, you guys should jump in a session and let's go.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: We actually it's a good idea.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: We did a whole episode and it was us joining like in Barton?
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, yes.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: We sat in the right in the writing room with um Allison Nichols, who's a um Nashville artist, and Phil Barton, and we basically just like wrote we she like kind of walked us through like the whole songwriting process for like an hour and a half, yeah, and it was so interesting.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Anyway, the episode comes up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: It's today.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: It's already got I need to I need to listen to this song back to front.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: It needs to be your theme song.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Oh we're actually updating the theme song.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, we're excited.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: I would say we, we were in the room.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: They wrote most of it.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: They wrote most of it.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: It's just ladies of country on repeat, but like, you know, it's a good melody.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: We'll stick with it.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: We need an artist.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Are you available?
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: We need some help.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: We can do a collab.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: These voices are not going anywhere on the except for the speaking part, obviously.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: We're just gonna stick to this kind of talking.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, I love this.
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: You need a bit more help than just what your voices can do.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Um so will you be playing a lot of your new album at CMA Fest?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so we have a 25-minute set for one of the shows, and then another show is a two-song set.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I can't remember what the other one is, but all album songs.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I plan to get as much of the new album in there as possible because yeah, it's uh it's something I'm so proud of, and I'm obviously taking it on the road here in Australia.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: So CMA Fest kind of just scoots right in at the right time.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: We want to talk more.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: So I remember at Country Town Awards, you talked about Deep End is the only love song on the album.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: So talk us through how what is the difference between writing a love song versus like writing like a heartbreak song or like things like that, and what made you want to include one like love song?
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Was it just that it was yeah, I think including deep end on the album was just a decision that was made because we loved the song.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Um and it it kind of had to be on there.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: It wasn't really like, oh, we have to include a love song, yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Although when we realized that there was a love song and we had to cull some others, because it was originally a 12-track album, we had to make it a 10, it did come into the decision making of like, okay, well, we're not gonna cull the only love song.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Like that's a bit depressing.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Um, but having Deep End on there has been really nice.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: It's been a conversation point as well for people when I'm talking about the album, I'm like, there is a song for everybody.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: There's a lot more songs for a few people breakup, but there's a song for everybody.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: It's not really a different process in like writing between like a love song and a breakup song, but it is different like mentally for me because I instantly just want to go to writing a breakup song, even though I'm very happy and I haven't been through a breakup in two years.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like I don't know, I still jump into sessions and I'm like, oh, there was this thing that happened five years ago that I want to write about.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Because it's like heartbreak is a lot easier to write about than being in love and being happy, yeah.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: Which says a lot about musicians and songwriters if we're gonna be general people, yeah, both single.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: So I feel like I did that.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: No, I mean like there's a lot of I feel like people relate a lot to like to break up songs.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: I feel like it's it's it's it's I feel like in my opinion, it's like I feel like less people are in like happy relationships nowadays.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's a lot of people.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: You could have used this song this morning, Grace.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: What?
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: You could have used this song this morning.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: What happened this morning?
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: You got broken up with someone.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: The mascot.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: I'm so sorry.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: They weren't even dating.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: She didn't even know that they were dating.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, you were like, I'm sorry, what the podcast is about.
- 14:27unknown: No.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: No.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: So I mean, Rachel, what's your best piece of dating advice?
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: My best piece of dating advice.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: You're clearly in a happy relationship now.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: I am in a happy relationship.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: You're beautiful.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: How did you guys meet?
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: We met through my producer actually.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: No.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: In the album process, which is kind of like a little fun tidbit.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: You got some big shoes to fill.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: You need to wing men up.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: You're the problem.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: That's what's missing.
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: This is not going how I thought it would.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: It's been twisted background.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: So your producer introduced you.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so um producer introduced us.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Um, he's not a musician or anything, but he's yeah, he's great.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Is deep end about him?
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: No, it's about my my previous partner, which we don't talk about.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: How did he really know?
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: But that's the thing, it's like I'm writing all these breakup songs and I'm writing like love songs or releasing love songs.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: They are gonna be about you know current situations or situations previously.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Um so he knows and he's fine with it.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: He's very mature, so he's like, well, and I will I will write a love song about him soon.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: But right now I'm not in writing mode, I'm in album release mode.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: But I don't know, it is a question I get a lot, and actually, we were I was doing a show in Melbourne a few weeks ago, and he had a bunch of friends and family and you know people there, and I sang deep and they all looked at him like, oh, this is about you, and he was like, No, this is about her ex.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I love you so much.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Thank you for not getting like butthurt about this because I'm feeling so awkward.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: I feel like this just you're gonna have to write a song about this guy.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I will definitely, 100%.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: There will be lots of happy songs about him, but uh yeah, it's it sucks that heartbreak songs are easier to write than love songs because yeah, it's it's gonna be a very, you know.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: So good relationship with the ex then.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: No deep ends about him.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I think he does, but we don't speak anymore.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Are the heartbreak songs also about him?
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Most of them, yes.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: So the whole album.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: You guys are really getting the tea here.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: So let me tell you.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Ten songs.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Um eight of them are about one guy, two of them are about a different guy.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: So it sounds like I've been through a lot of breakups, but I've just written a lot about one absolute piece of work of a dude.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: He reached out that he knows.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: So yeah, he knows that they're about him, but he actually messaged me a few weeks ago.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I've got him blocked on everything.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: He messaged me on TikTok, because I forgot to block him on TikTok.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's hard.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: And he's like, hey, I'm so proud of you, blah, blah, blah.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: And this guy was like really not, he was not great.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: He was toxic AF.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Messaged me, he's like, so proud of you, congrats on the album.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: And I was like, block because like I don't want to hear from you.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm I'm very happy.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Thank you for the songs.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: Bye-bye.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: It takes a lot of courage to block people.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: I never used to be like this, but I guess back to my dating advice.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, I completely back to that.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Um, just be yourself and be like, I don't know, have self-respect.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: If you if you don't have it, go get it.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I got told the other day the reason why I'm single, I need to have less respect for myself.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Less respect.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: I think I'll keep the respect for the money.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: I disagree with that advice.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: I feel like when you're dating, like you make so many allowances for really bad behaviour.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: And it's like you really need to know what your boundaries are and what you're like where you're gonna draw the line.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: And once I made that decision and found where my line was, you know, things changed.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, everyone says that you just find someone when you're not looking.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: So I haven't been looking for a while.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm not looking.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: I'm not looking.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Um you need to write some heartbreak to you.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Still waiting.
- 18:13SPEAKER_04: Don't hold your breath.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: I won't.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, this is hilarious.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: How do you find like being, I guess like one of the few women in the country music space, not only in Australia, but like in the world?
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: I feel like there's not that many females that are like really crushing it in the country music space.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: There's definitely so many more like coming out.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Um, but how have you found like being in the country music space as a woman?
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: I've loved it.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: Um I think we have a very um inclusive environment, like the country music scene.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Everyone is so inclusive.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Um but I I do think that um the Australian female artists sorry, I should actually say, I do think I think that country music female artists, no matter where you're from, whether it's the US or Australia, I think that we have to work a little bit harder to get um opportunities, yeah.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: I was like, what's the right word?
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Because I want to trade really carefully because I do feel very lucky and I've worked really, really hard.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: But there are instances where sometimes I look at festival lineups and there's like one woman and like 20 men.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, I would have loved to have been on that festival.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Like, call me.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, or like call my friends.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I don't know.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: It's it is a lot harder, I think, in some aspects.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: But when the success comes, then I don't know, it's enjoyable.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Try and write it out.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: And I think as fans, we like it's kind of our job as well to advocate for the females on the lineup because if the fans want females on the lineup, exactly, the promoters and like people will put females on the lineup.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: So as much as it is them, I think it is a responsibility of us as listeners to be like our favourite artists are these are all the women that we love and we listen to all the time, and these are who we're streaming, and this is why you should put them on the lineup.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: I've done a bit of like I've I've looked into it a little bit, so I'm not just saying this as like, oh I this is what I feel, but um, there's a lot of podcasts and a lot of like interviews and a lot of things that have gone out where media outlets have said that the reason that they put the people on festivals and that the reason that that these certain artists get opportunities is because that's what the audience wants.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: So if it's more skewed toward males, that's because it's what the audience wants.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: So I think it's like we all need to hold hands and be like, all right, let's all want like more females and let's all want XYZ and then it'll happen because it's what the audience wants.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: So it's up to everyone listening when saying whatever said.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: Ladies love country.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Get on it.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Country love ladies.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I I completely agree.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: I feel like um, yeah, there's definitely a lot of room for women at the moment in country music.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: And like I feel like, yeah, you're one of the people in Australia who's like really behaving that way.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: Um it's super exciting.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: So you grew up in Sydney, so tell us how you kind of got into like the country music world.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I um I don't know where to start this story.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: I I would do a lot of talent quests when I was younger, and I would sing a lot of different types of songs and just kind of being on stage and learning how to be an artist in in that era of my life.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I remember.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Gosh, I started doing talent quests around like 15, I think, maybe 16.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, maybe I was a bit younger.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: But it was I was very, very young in high school.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Yes, I was.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: So I would go to these you know, quests and I would do all these songs, and people would constantly come up to me and they would say, You sound like you should be doing country music.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I don't know.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Like it was at the time when country music wasn't particularly cool, and I had this idea of what country music was.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: That's kind, wasn't particularly cool.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Did you listen to country music?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: No, I didn't.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: Without knowing it, I actually was though.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Like my parents would listen to The Carpenters and John Denver.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: I'm s thinking you're the same, right?
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: More like I would listen to artists who aren't country but have like country kind of inspired songs, and I never really realized it.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Like even like Matchbox 20, they have songs that like I can tell are very like if they release them now, they could be country.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: And like train and things like that.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: That I didn't know at the time.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think of a band that got a lot of hate, but they were like basically country.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: And I can't think of the name, but I was just nickelback.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, nickel.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Nickelback.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: I loved Nickelback.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: And now listening back, I'm like, nickelback's basically countryback.
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: I think everyone liked Nickelback, but it was just there was some bandwagon that it was safer for people to hate on them than to support them.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: I hate that.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: That's not cool.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Um anyway, so yeah, um, I would get told like you should do country music, and I'm like, maybe.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: So like I dabbled and then I was like listening to Martina McBride, um, and Carrie Underwood, just kind of like getting across the surface artists.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: And then once I actually started listening, I was like, oh, I actually really like this.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Like this is actually really cool.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: I love this.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: So I would start doing these country songs at the quests, and then I started like winning, and I started placing, and I started getting, I guess, more traction.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: And I think it was because I my voice was kind of suited to singing country music without me even knowing it.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: It just sat really nicely, yeah, and I actually enjoyed singing it.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: I felt like home once I started singing country music, um, and then delving further in listening to a lot of the more underground artists, um, but and I just didn't look back.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: It was just I guess you could say once I started was like love at first sight, and then I just fell right in.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: So Deep End is actually about country music.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: The real tea.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: What did your friends and family think when you went into country?
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Because obviously, like it wasn't really cool.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Were they like, why are you playing country songs?
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: I guess my family were really supportive, but I did have a lot of friends that would kind of like be like, oh, really?
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: But at that point I loved it so much that I was like, I don't actually care what you think.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: And now going, well not now, sorry, but then going out afterwards into the public and being like, oh yeah, I do country music, you'd get a lot of weird side-eye looks.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Now not so much, which is great.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: But it's been like an evolution.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: Not just because you grew up in the city, but just because of like Yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Because like, yeah, because I feel like there's a lot of like stigma around, like, if you're not from the country, you can't play or listen to country music.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: I did face that a lot.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: A lot of people would say, but you're from Sydney, like, how do you how I know literally it's not that deep.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: It is when I bought my first pair of RMs.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: I remember I posted a TikTok about it, and I was like, I'm so excited, like, country music artists without RMs.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: And then I got so many, so many comments like hating on me because they were too clean, and I was like, I just bought them.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: I just they have not had a chance to get scoffed, and because of that, I did not, I have not polished them, I have not cleaned them.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: I did like as with cowboy hats.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, everyone like their hats aren't even shaped, they've just bought them, and I'm like, okay.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Well, didn't you just buy a country hat?
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know, when you first got your country hat in the never.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: I took the tag off this morning.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: Look at it.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: I need to take it action.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: I like it.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: How did you find, like, obviously, you're a city girl playing country music fashion-wise?
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: How did you like try and integrate into the country?
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Like your style.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: I still feel like I'm trying to find my style.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: It's it's a tough one because you can just put on a pair of boots and a hat and say it's a country outfit, but like we got my boots on, and like it is, but it's like, you know.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: This is my brand.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: I mean country, and I love it.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: It's like that's you know, I got my boots, I got my boots, I'm getting the country belt.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: That is two of the big elements of country, but I think it's how you wear it, which is what I'm getting at.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna get so roasted for this.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, you could wear boots and a cowboy hat and wear like, I don't know, something like really city and chic.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: And it's I don't know.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: That's fine.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: That's how you're wearing it.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: You've made it country in your own way.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: But it is a really hard little line to walk because there are a lot of people that will like kind of judge and be like, that's not country, but like it is.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: We walk with our line, you feel it.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Yes, 100%.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Just because you don't wear a work shirt, it doesn't matter.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: No, there's lots of definitions to the word country.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: I feel like it's a really exciting time in Australian country music, and like, yeah, just in Australia in general for country music because we, I guess our brand is we have like we are the country curious people.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: We we're like from the city, like like you, but love country music, have fallen into this world of country music, and like I guess our mission is to like bring people into that world.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: So we're calling these these like fans and these group of people country curious people.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: We're like you you live in the city, you're you like you have like you know the same, you appreciate the values of country music, yeah.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: And so like I feel like that's kind of like where we sit, and that's why we're like we're not trying to be like from the from the country, like wearing the work shirt.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm just I'm embracing the the boot and the hat vibe.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna be able to do that.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: I love country music, you know.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: That's someone say we're the opposite of gatekeeping.
- 27:43unknown: Yeah!
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is I like this.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I feel like there's some kind of like inside.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: We'll tell you about it.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: Like, tell me.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Um record.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, done.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can't wait.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: But no, it's a super exciting time, and I feel like I don't know if you you get the same kind of like it's not hate, it's just like people commenting on the fact that like we're from the city, but we're into country music and we talk about country music.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't understand.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: Do you get that?
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: I do, yeah, and I don't understand it because it's like, well, we all love the same type of music just because I'm wearing clothes that you don't deem like I don't know how to word this exactly, but like I don't know.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: We we can't wear the work shirts, and like you said, we're not trying to pretend.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: We just want to be included, we just want to be like, we want to be a part of it, and we we're proud to sing country music and to be a part of the country music community and to listen to it.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: So this is how we're gonna show it.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's it's got nothing to do with trying to fake being country, it's just that we're proud.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's how I'm looking at it.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: I think that's the best way I can say it as well.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: And I think if we wore a work shirt, it's it would be like rude, yeah, yeah, less authentic.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, whereas we're trying to adapt it to make it authentic to our brand and our style.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: And I feel like the umbrella for country music is like growing so much, like like what we talked about earlier with like nickelback.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: Now you listen to that, you're like, oh, that could be country music.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: And I feel like it's it's growing so much in Australia and globally that like there's more and more artists that are like considered country music, yeah, and that are going in like post-melone going into country, be honest.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Everyone's happy with like a little country flair coming in.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which is amazing.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's very cool, it's very cool.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Cowboy Crush of the Week! It's actually Kevin Whitcomb.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: So, like, he's definitely like um he he just did a run of Australia and he's sold out, I think, almost every single show.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: He did like put on like double nights because they sold out.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Um, and and we saw him at Stagecoach, and he put on the most like electric performance, like put his whole body and soul on the lines.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: He was doing backflips in the Benson Boone and country music.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: He is Benson Boon! Yes.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh! That is actually the perfect way to describe it.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love it.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: So have have I just coined 100%.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: Benson Boone.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Don't do backflips on the stage.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: Don't be unrolled.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I keep cutting you like that's so fun.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, I think he would be my cowboy crush.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: Like, I I love his music.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: It's definitely more in that like broader country umbrella.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: Like it's it's it's like more poppy, a little bit of rock influence, but it's he he's such an incredible performer.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: And um, yeah, he's he's on my he's my cowboy crush this week.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: Mine's a random one.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: What is this game?
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So I don't know if you were we were Nickelodeon.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love Nickelodeon, but we didn't get um Foxtel until I was like a lot older.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, so I don't know if anyone will know, but basically there's this band from Nickelodeon called Big Time Rush.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Have you heard of them?
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: No.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Anyway, they were really big in my day.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: In your day.
- 30:58SPEAKER_02: Polly's three years younger than me, and she likes to remind me of it every day.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Oh no, you don't know who Big Time Rush is.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: Anyway, they're a massive band.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: I like they were like before One Direction, I want to say.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: They were like the boy band on Nickelodeon.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Anyway, one of them's just gone out on his own and he's playing at CMA Fest.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: And he's like coming out with a country album.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Can I come watch his set with you?
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Yes, 100%.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: I need to see this album.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: It's actually so, and like you would watch like the big time rush like videos, and it's like the most cringe thing ever from like back in the day.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: But I'm like, this is so funny.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: He's now done like a full circle and he's doing a country album single.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: I'm like, fantastic.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: So he's my cowboy crush because I'm like big time rush, guys.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: I wish you knew big time rushes.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you need to do some education.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna I'm gonna, well, on my drive to my next show tonight, that's gonna be on the drive.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Look, you're not gonna think the music's great, but like I'm gonna educate nostalgia of it.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Like, I was listening to it at work all day yesterday because I was like, this just reminds me of the good old days.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so good.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: I actually would love if Justin Bieber did a country.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Country kind of song.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: That would be so cool.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: That's a great idea.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a really good idea.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Maybe you should um do that.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna reach out to Justin Bieber.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Shoot your shot, honestly.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: Hey Bebs.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Hey Bib.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: Who have you been listening to?
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, who's on the rotation?
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie, I have not listened to a lot of music recently.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: In the car, do you listen to music?
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: I listen to like Hamish and Andy.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, I do.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: And there's a podcast called My Favourite Murder that is really, really good.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Is it like a true crime one?
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Uh it's kind of like true crime.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: It's two comedians and they get up and they they tell stories about um well not stories, they like, you know, detailed accounts of murders.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: Murders and like crimes and stuff.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: But they don't, it's not, it's so hard to explain because they're not they're not like joking about what's happened, but they tell the story and then in between, like they have their own little like private jokes that become funny for everyone else.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I'm explaining this well at all.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: But it's really, really fun.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's really, really good.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: Well, they're your cowboy crushers.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, can they be?
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, if there, if there is actually one artist that I have recently discovered that I'm crushing on, it's a girl.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: Uh Stella Lefty.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, no, it has to be a boy.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: I I can't.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: But Stella Lefty, I'm really, I'm really vibing her.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: We're a Stella Fella.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: We really are.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: I just saw a TikTok today with someone um hating on her music, and it had like 50,000 likes.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: It was some Nashville-based artists.
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and like I actually I'd been rinsing her new album.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, which is surprising because I feel like you're not poppy.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: I don't think.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: Whereas actually she is quite pop music.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: She's very poppy.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: I think she's she's like, I don't know if she's really like that authentic.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Okay, Pip.
- 33:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know if she's like the most country artist that has ever happened in you know the world.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: No, but like she's definitely a little bit country.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: She kind of reminds me of like Gracie Abrams crossed with like I don't know.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think of a country artist.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Ella Langling.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Just because she's just gonna just read about it.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I I feel that she's not, like you said, she's not the most country, but I like it.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh I'm really huge fans.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: If she's growing the genre, some yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: And she is her and Vincent Mason.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: So cute.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: I'm sure you're gonna be your cowboy crush every week.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: I saw it.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Every day and a week.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna bring it up again.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: You're like, every time I want to say it, I'll just Holly was crashing at me when they announced that they were together.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Because the video is like the cutest thing ever.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my goodness, like I hate this, but I love it so much.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're like, I'm so jealous.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be me when Tucker Wetmore gets a rel runs into a relay.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: Why are you sound so surprised?
- 34:46unknown: Oh my god.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: What's the weirdest thing a fan's ever done for you?
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: I once had someone give me a banana.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: I have no idea why.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: They just came up to me after my set and they gave me a banana.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you mentioned it.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: You hadn't eaten.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: Well, I I would love to eat this banana, but I probably won't because I don't know where it's been.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: No, at least it's wrapped.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know, because it's like bananas, like the top of it.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Anyway, I didn't eat it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: I was like, thank you so much.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: A kind gesture.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was very, very kind.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: But I don't know.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Now we get things like this.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: This was actually a gift from a fan.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: No way.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the other week, and I wear it all the time now.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: That's actually so I actually didn't notice it because I also have a matching cowboy one, but I thought it was the same bed, slightly different.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Excited to see you in Nashville.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: I think that's gonna be a blast.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: It will be.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: We've got lots of other Aussies coming over as well.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: I feel like it's gonna be a big time.
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.

- 35:56SPEAKER_01: Um and every time I use it, I feel like I'm back at Robert's.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Do you know um someone from Australia has a tattoo of the stamp on her list?
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Charlotte, she has that.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: So that she can get in like whenever.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: Actually, not think of that, but I'm sure.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: I think she just loves it.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: So probably no.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: Surely she should have like lifetime access.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: It was her first time in Nashville, and that's when she got it.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: I hope they don't ever refuse her entry.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: No, she should be a lifelong member.
