- 0:00New podcast. Stop scrolling BBP that I I need
- 0:05to get to. Boat Disciples podcast episode.
- 0:09We got a big one today, just me and Brianna on, but I will say
- 0:12we've done a lot of podcasts lately.
- 0:15We got some super cool ones coming out after this.
- 0:17All of the next three will all have guests and I'm excited for
- 0:23all of them to come out. I think they're all really good,
- 0:25really different and exciting for people to hear.
- 0:29So Pod is ripping, content is ripping.
- 0:33There's going to be twice a week uploads returning for probably
- 0:38the next six weeks at least, so that's exciting.
- 0:42I've been absolutely hammering out the contents in this little
- 0:48stint at home, so that's been fun.
- 0:50Done a couple of 3D shoots, did Balboa, did Alpine.
- 0:55Exciting stuff, exciting stuff. So this Sunday got a video.
- 1:02I'm very excited to come out testing this ACCU Archery SOS
- 1:07that we already filmed with the Mantis.
- 1:09I'm very excited for that to come out.
- 1:11I think it's really informative, really good.
- 1:15And the day this comes out, really cool shoot off on the
- 1:20main channel against my buddy Taylor playing our golf game.
- 1:23So a lot of good stuff coming out.
- 1:26Boatdisciples.com Get the games right now it's the end of summer
- 1:30right before hunting season they make.
- 1:32A good game to take to camp. Oh for sure for.
- 1:35Hunting like because so many people just throw a block out
- 1:38and once hunting season starts, you know, sometimes the practice
- 1:44ends and you know, you're so focused on taking your nap in
- 1:49the middle of the day and eating your lunch and whatnot.
- 1:52And you know, there's so much time in the middle of the day,
- 1:55usually between morning and afternoon sits or stalks or
- 1:58whatever you do that it's so easy to just take 30 minutes and
- 2:02get down and still shoot. Keep yourself fresh, like keep
- 2:05your arm working. Really.
- 2:06You don't want to forget what that draw cycle feels like,
- 2:09especially when you're full of, you know, anxiety and pressure.
- 2:13You just throw the game on the target and it's it's relaxing
- 2:16almost, you know, you're not like, oh, I got to make this
- 2:18shot perfect. So like this is what it would be
- 2:20like on the deer or the elk or whatever.
- 2:22Like just take your mind off of the hunt and play a game.
- 2:25I think that the baseball and golf games in particular are
- 2:28perfect for hunting camp, especially if you're with a
- 2:30buddy, because the golf game in particular and baseball, me and
- 2:35Chuck just played a bunch in the backyard.
- 2:37And, and Taylor and you even at 20 yards, you have to be so
- 2:41focused because those spots are they're like the size of, you
- 2:44know, like slightly bigger than an X ring or A10 ring.
- 2:47So they're very small. And it makes you aim
- 2:50intentionally rather than just like putting it in the center of
- 2:53a dot this big and shooting. You're aiming like here and you
- 2:56want to hit the center of there. Yeah.
- 2:58So yeah, I I love the the games and I I agree with you, I think
- 3:01for. Good word.
- 3:02Intentional. Yeah.
- 3:03Like you're still intentionally shooting and aiming.
- 3:06You're not just like that's a that's good hunting shot.
- 3:09Yeah, because you. Want to score, you know you're
- 3:10you want to beat your course record on golf or or what have
- 3:14you. And that's the cool part about
- 3:15the the games too, other than baseball.
- 3:17Baseball is a bit of A1 use game because you're hammering home
- 3:21plate so many times, but the pong.
- 3:24And sticker. The pong and the golf game
- 3:27definitely multi multi use. You can use the same golf sheet
- 3:31a bunch of times. So yeah, pick them up before
- 3:33hunting season. That's a good tip right there.
- 3:37And but today we're going to talk a little bit, not too in
- 3:40depth. I don't want to spend the whole
- 3:42episode on it, but there was a recent post put out by a company
- 3:47called Truth Archery, a new a new archery company.
- 3:51And they said they received a cease and desist from Botech for
- 3:59Botech, you know, essentially telling them, hey, stop using
- 4:01this technology to move your Cam back and forth because they
- 4:06believe it's proprietary to their patent.
- 4:10We have seen this once before with a company called Athens and
- 4:16you know, they ended up shutting down.
- 4:19So Athens is no longer a company.
- 4:22Now here's where I'm a bit, I just don't understand people
- 4:26right? Because Botech had Matthews hit
- 4:30him for a lawsuit I think maybe in 20-20 ish.
- 4:33Started I've I've been down the rabbit hole this morning.
- 4:36Started in 2017. They received the lawsuit.
- 4:39It was resolved in a confidential resolution in 2020.
- 4:44OK, so that happened and you go read the comments, the public
- 4:48sentiment and everybody is praising Matthews for defending
- 4:54their patent. It's all over the.
- 4:57Now here's what I don't understand is Botech only gets
- 5:02negative comments for protecting their patent.
- 5:06Now as an entrepreneur, in my opinion, if you're going to drop
- 5:11all the money and the time and energy on a patent, why wouldn't
- 5:18you protect it? That seems so stupid to me.
- 5:22Now people will say, Oh well, they should license out their
- 5:26patent like Darton does. OK, well that's great.
- 5:29But does Matthews lease out their bridge lock patent?
- 5:35I don't hear anyone say oh, they should, you know, So I just
- 5:38don't understand why it's rules for thee and not for me.
- 5:41Like, why is Bo Tech the bad guy no matter what?
- 5:43Because you look at that Cam system, but it's the same as
- 5:46deadlock. Let's just be realistic.
- 5:49It's the same thing, very, very close.
- 5:53It's not different enough to be like, oh, it's not the same
- 5:56system. And I know I sound like a
- 5:57Bowtech defender here, but I would say the same thing
- 6:01regardless. I think Matthews was just fine
- 6:03to defend their patent. I'm not a Matthews guy, but I
- 6:07think they were within their right to do that.
- 6:09And I definitely think Bowtech is within their right to do the
- 6:12same thing. So I think it's in an uproar
- 6:16because if you do the research, this is not the first time that
- 6:21this system has rolled out. It didn't just roll out on the
- 6:28truth. So it's called K set.
- 6:32It stands for this dude's name. Kevin says something, something
- 6:39technology, easy technology or something.
- 6:41But it's called K set. And this dude is not only
- 6:46involved in the truth now Truth Beau, but he is involved with
- 6:52Martin and obsession. So case that rolled out on
- 6:57Martin and obsession first a few years ago.
- 7:02So it's been around for a couple years now.
- 7:05So I think the uproar has a little bit to do with why Bo
- 7:09tech did you wait so long? You know, why all of a sudden on
- 7:12this Bo, are you just threatened by this company?
- 7:15Like this could actually take your market share.
- 7:20But somebody left a very good comment in these cesspools of
- 7:24keyboard warriors, AKA the forums.
- 7:27Forums I. Don't like forums?
- 7:30Oh God, just reading through them is what, when you were
- 7:32talking about the, the people who like, why did everybody
- 7:36praise Matthews for this? It's right now same thing.
- 7:40Like there's like maybe 2 comments in one of these major
- 7:43forums on like, why are you hating on Bowtech to protect
- 7:46something that they invested their time, money, and
- 7:49technology in creating? You know, and I think, I think
- 7:54everybody inside doesn't want to admit Bowtech created something
- 7:59that is and, and Josh said it in that video I watched early this
- 8:02morning. When he reviews the truth, he
- 8:04wishes that they would license it out the deadlock technology
- 8:08because it's it's the preferred method to tight tuning your your
- 8:15your system. I think, I don't even think it's
- 8:18debatable that I know other companies have come out with
- 8:20their own systems to kind of accomplish the same thing.
- 8:23But it's not as good. No, the deadlock is known as the
- 8:27best. Now what I would be curious to
- 8:30know. OK, I didn't know this about the
- 8:31K set right? So it's kind of a fun dynamic.
- 8:34I've never claimed to be like the techie, super knowledgeable
- 8:37guy. I know how all these systems
- 8:39work. But I didn't know about case.
- 8:40I'm I'm not, I'm not tracking what Martin and Obsession are
- 8:43doing to be honest with you. My question would be what is the
- 8:49difference between what Athens used and what Martin Obsession
- 8:54and truth are using? Because that would really be the
- 8:57question. It's a good question.
- 8:59So take this for not for gospel because like.
- 9:03It's from a forum. It's from a with keyboard
- 9:06warriors, but this is supposedly a quote that doesn't really make
- 9:10much sense because you know, keyboard warriors, they're they
- 9:13type so much on the keyboard, but yet somehow they can't type
- 9:15correctly. I I don't know.
- 9:17This is supposedly from the owner of one of the owners of
- 9:22Truth and if you dive down the rabbit hole enough, IE all you
- 9:25got to do is watch one YouTube video from our friend Scotty and
- 9:28he tells you who the true owner of Truth is.
- 9:30It's not this Kevin dude, he's just involved in the development
- 9:35of the bows, which is why the bow looks so similar to the
- 9:37Martin and Obsession. His name is something Quacka.
- 9:44They call him the pig man. Apparently he was really big,
- 9:48Big man. 'S big YouTube guy, yeah.
- 9:49For shooting like automatic rifles at pigs from helicopters
- 9:54or something. You wanted to do that, and maybe
- 9:56you still. Will I know?
- 9:58Maybe. Pig Man will reach out.
- 9:59You can go do. I would rather do it from a bow,
- 10:01like with a harness on, like leaning out of the helicopter.
- 10:04Wouldn't that be? Crazy.
- 10:05You know how much our arrow would get pushed by the
- 10:09downforce of the? Yeah, that's why probably people
- 10:12can't or Chris B. Did do it with a bow years ago.
- 10:15Yeah, I mean, maybe if you aim down enough, you know like
- 10:17straight down. But anyway, side we'll.
- 10:19Try to not get cancelled. So be careful.
- 10:21Whatever you say here, man. Oh yeah, Nope.
- 10:23Nope. There's nothing crazy.
- 10:24Everything here is all allegedly, by the way, because
- 10:26neither of us are lawyers. Were just speaking as regular,
- 10:29humble. And I am just reading off of a
- 10:31forum. If you'd like to go to
- 10:33archerytalk.com and you can find this forum and read it for
- 10:36yourself. So supposedly the owner said to
- 10:39this man the Athens deal was Dune from the start.
- 10:44I told them the day I saw how their system worked, the patent
- 10:48claim number and the drawings in the bow tech patent that covered
- 10:51what they had. So essentially I'm not sure but
- 10:55from what he's saying it moved the same way.
- 10:58They didn't understand patents. There is no change in it. 10%
- 11:02and you're good. Sorry, there is no change.
- 11:06There's no change at 10%. See this is what like you got to
- 11:09read the sentence correctly. There is no change at 10% and
- 11:12you're good. A patent covers how something
- 11:15functions. Look, how it looks or what it
- 11:17does only covers how it does. So to me he sorry I hit the mic.
- 11:25He just screamed his own failure.
- 11:29That's all he said. But if you take a look, so I've
- 11:32dive down the rabbit hole again. I went to their website and I
- 11:35pulled up a picture of their Cam.
- 11:40Take a look at that. Does it look any different?
- 11:49I mean it looks the same. And when you watch the Youtubes
- 11:53of Scotty or of Josh cracking that like system and moving it,
- 12:00now there's a little discrepancy because Scotty says he thinks it
- 12:04looks like it moves the limbs. Josh says he thinks it looks
- 12:07like it moves the Cam. So there's the question, does it
- 12:11move the limb or the Cam? But based on that, that spiral,
- 12:18you know, I can't remember what you call that, but the threads,
- 12:23the thread would be shifting the Cam and the way you function a
- 12:29deadlock. There's no like he says, there's
- 12:32no make it 10% how it looks different, You know,
- 12:35functionality. You can't make it 10% different
- 12:38and let your your patents not going to get approved.
- 12:41It has to function different. There's no broad like anything.
- 12:48So you come from the side, you turn it and in deadlock the Cam
- 12:57moves left or the Cam moves right.
- 13:00You come from the side on a truth, you turn it and the
- 13:05threads move it left or the threads move the Cam right.
- 13:09Functionality wise, how is it different?
- 13:12Well, my question would be even if Scotty was right.
- 13:16Friend of the show. I know Scotty and I know Josh.
- 13:19So let's just for fun say that Scotty is right.
- 13:21Uh huh. Play devil's advocate.
- 13:23And it moves the limb. Doesn't Matthews probably have a
- 13:26patent on that for their? Oh, I'm sure, because Matthews
- 13:30doesn't roll stuff out before the patent's approved.
- 13:33So my point would be even the even if it was moving the limb,
- 13:36wouldn't then you be biting off Matthew's apple?
- 13:40So I don't understand it. But if Matthews were to sue
- 13:43them, then they would be just fine.
- 13:45People would love it. Yeah.
- 13:45You know. So one of the big comments.
- 13:47In there I don't get is like why is Bo tech the bad guy?
- 13:50Like I don't understand that. I don't I.
- 13:54That's the part that I just don't understand as a business
- 13:56person. Like why It's such a simple
- 14:00question. Why do people cheer when Hoyt or
- 14:02Matthews protect their patent but when Bo tech does?
- 14:05They're like Satan and the worst thing ever.
- 14:07Maybe someone can drop their? Maybe drop a comment because I
- 14:10just don't get it like that doesn't.
- 14:12Make sense? I don't either.
- 14:13And one of the the thread persons say, oh, Oh well, you
- 14:18know, because someone brings up like, why didn't they sue or
- 14:22whatever? Granted, again, everybody keeps
- 14:25saying lawsuit pending AC sand assist does not mean lawsuit
- 14:31pending. It just means stop what you're
- 14:32doing or we will or we could or we would like we're letting you
- 14:37know we know that you're doing this and we don't like it
- 14:39because this we think is infringing on our path.
- 14:43Now there could be one pending. Now, who knows?
- 14:45Maybe someone has an inside scoop with bow tech and heard,
- 14:47you know, the lawsuit is now officially pending.
- 14:52But in the the threads going to what you're saying about like,
- 14:56why is everybody harping on bow tech?
- 14:59They're like, why didn't, you know they sue Martin or
- 15:04obsession when K set was used on the bow or what not?
- 15:07They're just threatened by, you know, truth because they're
- 15:09actually going to take their market share.
- 15:11Well, no, think about it. Bo Tech sat idle and watched as
- 15:19it came out on the Martin. It came out on the obsession and
- 15:23said, OK, these are smaller companies.
- 15:25Like look, then Athens did it. They said, OK, that's enough.
- 15:30So it should it be surprising news that after they saw Athens
- 15:34do it and now another company tries.
- 15:37So this would be the fourth in a row trying to do this.
- 15:40Why is everybody in an uproar saying, oh, Bow Tech's just
- 15:43suing everybody? You know, like, why do they,
- 15:45like, get to just protect their patents so much?
- 15:49How many more companies can try to steal their patent before
- 15:53they just sit there and with their thumbs up their butt?
- 15:56Well, and alleged, you know, this is all allegedly too.
- 15:58I, I haven't talked to any higher ups at any of these
- 16:01places. So we're just, we're literally.
- 16:03Speaking. We're Speaking of public
- 16:05information, posts we've seen on the Internet, shit we've seen in
- 16:08this forum. The other thing that's
- 16:10interesting I think to consider here is that every company that
- 16:15has used or you could say potentially ripped off Deadlock,
- 16:22Martin Obsession, Athens Truth, all of those companies are like
- 16:28really small archery companies, right?
- 16:33I do you think there's probably a reason why a big company like
- 16:37Apse or a Bear or a Hoyt or a Matthews or a Darton, you think
- 16:44there's probably a reason why one of them haven't tried to use
- 16:47it? It's these small companies that
- 16:51are probably thinking maybe we can get away with it if it was
- 16:55that easy to skirt around the patent.
- 16:59Then why have you come out with a system that moves the Cam yet
- 17:02exactly? You know, why did they go
- 17:04through years of probably technology research and
- 17:08development, R&D to come up with a system that moves the limb?
- 17:13Because they steered as far right or as far left as they
- 17:17could from getting sued by Bowtech for steel infringing on
- 17:20their. Pants.
- 17:21They're smart, they know that that is not going to work.
- 17:24And supposedly that system works pretty well, you know, of moving
- 17:27the limb. And what a clever way to kind of
- 17:28accomplish the same thing, you know, is it as good?
- 17:32Probably not quite, but it's still really good, you know, and
- 17:35then darton, I believe, has it to where you can put pressure on
- 17:40opposite limbs. So it has like your center bolt
- 17:43for poundage and then it has bolts on the edge of the limb in
- 17:47the front to where you can change pressure on the limb.
- 17:49Just somewhat accomplish the same thing elite as one where it
- 17:52kind of can rock the Cam a little bit.
- 17:56So there are other ways to get around it, but I don't know, I,
- 18:02I would care less about this if I didn't see such a bias of
- 18:08comments towards Botech. And it kind of sucks because,
- 18:11you know, I've shot Botech for 20 years now and obviously, you
- 18:14know, I am on the team. So I'm, I'm a little bit biased
- 18:17of of course, but at the same time, like just logically, it
- 18:21does not make sense the backlash they get for stuff like this and
- 18:26how Botech kind of went from like being a cool brand of like
- 18:29the whipping ponyboy of the the keyboard warriors.
- 18:33Like I don't get it. I think the bows are really
- 18:36good. The proven 34 is like the best
- 18:38bow I've shot in a long time. The reckoning is great.
- 18:42Like I just don't understand it. And I think that should change
- 18:48because I do think bow tech's a cool brand and I think they make
- 18:51great stuff. So I just don't understand why
- 18:53they're getting bullied so much and they're the ones being
- 18:56called a bully. I'm like, no, the bully is the
- 18:59one trying to steal your stuff. Yeah.
- 19:02Because the small. Guy, it's the small bow brand.
- 19:05It's the, you know, it's the affordable one for the, the, the
- 19:09common man or woman. Oh really?
- 19:11The prices are the same on those bows I think.
- 19:13No. So this bow comes in, this new
- 19:17truth comes in at the 33 inch axle to axle weighs less than my
- 19:26virtue. Virtue.
- 19:27OK, and how much is it? 3.45 lbs and bare bow it's 1600
- 19:33bucks. OK.
- 19:35And I think the virtue is like 19, so it's a little bit
- 19:37cheaper. Yeah.
- 19:39So you know, it is a budget price.
- 19:41Point, but it also doesn't have a picatinny, it doesn't have a
- 19:43center mass. It doesn't have you know, time
- 19:47lock, grip lock doesn't have all sorts of stuff their warranty.
- 19:51I don't know anything about the brand.
- 19:52Yeah. You know, it's just, I don't
- 19:55know it, I'm in the same boat as you that I I don't understand
- 20:00why it's pick on bow tech year for defending something that
- 20:05they've worked hard to put in the money to cause getting a
- 20:08patent is not easy or cheap. And you say, oh, they've got a
- 20:11bunch of lawyers that do it for them and whatnot.
- 20:14And sure, that is the case. That also costs a boatload of
- 20:17money. So, and the matter of the fact
- 20:21is you could all be mad, but. Like praise bow tech for having
- 20:27a patent that everybody is trying to steal.
- 20:30I don't see all these small bow companies coming out stealing
- 20:33bridge lock. Well, no.
- 20:35You know, or, or whatever like that's.
- 20:38A perfect example. Like if that's the Case No one
- 20:40else has bridge lock. Why is no one saying Oh well
- 20:44Matthews needs to license it's out.
- 20:46I've haven't read one person say that, but I've read a whole.
- 20:49Deadlock is so important. Now here's my thing, Bose Beau
- 20:53brands do share patents a lot and license them out and that's
- 20:56great. Darton that's like their whole
- 20:57thing, right? Most of they have tons of them.
- 21:02Patents only last so long. I don't know how long I.
- 21:05Think it's 50 years. 50. I could be speaking out my ass
- 21:08but I'm almost certain it's 50. Years.
- 21:10So maybe Botech goes, hey, we got something so good that even
- 21:13after 50 years, people will probably still be using this
- 21:16system. Why wouldn't we exclusively use
- 21:20it for some of that time And then at some point they probably
- 21:22will license it out. I would just guess I don't have
- 21:24a crystal ball but like I don't know if the.
- 21:27Company hits like a financial crisis, that's when you could
- 21:29consider things like that, but. I just think it's so goofy.
- 21:33But anyways, this episode is probably going to get a ton of
- 21:36comments and I don't know, I guess drop below why, but why Bo
- 21:41tech getting all the hate? I I don't understand that.
- 21:43I don't think they should. I think it's unwarranted.
- 21:48And yeah, I mean, I don't know. I.
- 21:51Think it's just like if somebody like you as the the viewer,
- 21:55somebody walked up to like something you built and started
- 22:02selling, like someone walked up to to Ernest with his native
- 22:07straps. Or you know, our our friend
- 22:11who's now making the mirror archery single points and just
- 22:16copied it. Well literally copied it and
- 22:19maybe changed the clip that clips to your vinyl.
- 22:22Harness Oh, it's different because it has this clip.
- 22:24Yeah, functionality overall, they do the same thing.
- 22:30They function the same way. You're like, you're just going
- 22:35to sit there and be like, I'll let them also make it.
- 22:39You'd be pissed. And you'd protect your patent
- 22:42because both those products you just named the native strap and
- 22:45the mirror archery single point are both patented.
- 22:48So or pending patent pending. You're telling me those guys
- 22:52wouldn't have the right to defend themselves like if they
- 22:55got ripped off by True Glow or something?
- 22:57Now that would be a tough mountain to climb because it's a
- 22:59much bigger company. But just as an example, like
- 23:03yeah, you would go defend what you spent your time and money
- 23:05investing in. And with Botech, it's the exact
- 23:08same thing, just like Matthews and Bridge Lock.
- 23:12It's not, it's not like random that no other company uses
- 23:16bridge lock. You really think that's just a
- 23:18random reason that oh, just nobody's choose to use it?
- 23:21No, it's because it's patented and they don't let other
- 23:25companies use it. Yeah, it will.
- 23:27And at the end of the day, I think it all just goes back to
- 23:32like, it kind of makes me chuckle on the inside because
- 23:36all these people in a uproar, like why don't they just license
- 23:40it? Like why are they going after
- 23:41all the little brands? Like, you know, just let them
- 23:44use your extremely expensive patented, you know, you know,
- 23:49design. At the end of the day,
- 23:51everybody's trying to use that, like come up with a form of
- 23:54deadlock or literally just stealing the function of
- 23:58deadlock because it is the best patent right now.
- 24:04Like if anybody wants something on their boat, it's that it's
- 24:08deadlock. It's not bridge lock.
- 24:09It's not, you know, whatever other patent there is out there
- 24:13that these bigger companies like Matthews have.
- 24:17And so Bowtech is being put in the spotlight for having
- 24:21something so good. Well, instead of hating on it,
- 24:23why don't you go shoot a Bowtech?
- 24:25Yeah, seriously. You know, like.
- 24:27Don't get. A bow tech like don't just hate
- 24:29on the the the brand and say, well, I'd rather shoot a Athens
- 24:33or a truth or a Martin or an obsession or whatever.
- 24:37Well, just go shoot the bow that came up with the design that you
- 24:40like, you know, like they rightfully did the work to
- 24:43create that. So if you want like it so much,
- 24:49go shoot the bow that rightfully owns the pack.
- 24:51Well, another thing about bow tech too.
- 24:52I mean, they have such a diverse line of bows.
- 24:55Like you could get any type of bow.
- 24:59You want to get a carbon bow that's long axled axle, you can
- 25:02get that. You want a long carbon bow
- 25:04that's shorter, you can get that.
- 25:05You want a magnesium bow? You can get that.
- 25:08You want a solution that doesn't have time lock or gridlock, but
- 25:14it still has deadlock and it's a little bit cheaper.
- 25:17You can get the solution LS. You can get the, you know,
- 25:20proven 34. You can get the core senior.
- 25:22You can get the shorter core s s like there is so much you want a
- 25:26woman specific bow. You can shoot the Eva three.
- 25:29You you want something cheaper, you can get the Bowtech amplify.
- 25:32Like it's such a diverse line that I think if people just went
- 25:36in and truthfully shot all of the different bowtex, look at
- 25:39the spec, say this one fits the best for me.
- 25:41For me, that's a proven 34. Go try the proven 34.
- 25:45Try in the long Cam, try it in the short, depending your draw
- 25:49length and really give it an honest crack.
- 25:51Don't just say, oh, I'm not going to shoot it because a
- 25:53couple people make fun of it. Like no, give it a try.
- 25:56And I would be surprised if you don't really love whatever the
- 25:59bow is you shoot. So I don't know.
- 26:03I mean, I doubt. I mean, who knows?
- 26:07I mean there might be tons of keyboard warriors in the
- 26:09comments on this video, but I doubt it.
- 26:12I think everything was said was quite logical.
- 26:14It's well, we're being logical, right?
- 26:16I mean, it is what it is. Like how you going to hate on
- 26:20true points to our knowledge. Like I said, we're just using
- 26:23stuff that's public on the Internet.
- 26:25I don't have any back story. You have no back story.
- 26:28We're just being humble poppers talking about this stuff and
- 26:32it's interesting. And again, it's all alleged.
- 26:35I don't know what's we don't know.
- 26:37We're not lawyers. We're just talking about it as a
- 26:39regular humble popper consumer. So I don't know, man, it's
- 26:45interesting. But at the end of the day, it
- 26:48comes down to the fact that or, or I find it interesting that
- 26:53you know, you again, keyboard waters jump on, warriors jump on
- 26:58and start hating on bow tech and whatnot.
- 27:01Look, there are bow shops, we've named 2 ones with they have
- 27:09years of experience, knowledge, expertise, knowledge.
- 27:13And at first glance of picking up the bow, you say I don't know
- 27:20how they're going to get away with this.
- 27:22I mean like. Well, and Josh said the same
- 27:25thing when he did the Athens video years ago.
- 27:27Yep, he picked it up and I remember watching it.
- 27:30He goes, yeah, I'm not sure how they're getting away with this,
- 27:34but they apparently think they are going to.
- 27:36And then a little bit later, they were.
- 27:38That's, that's all I'm saying is that when people with the
- 27:41expertise and knowledge can pick it up and on first glance,
- 27:46they're not patent experts, no, but he's a bow expert.
- 27:50He is a bow expert and he knows the functionality for sure of
- 27:54the equipment within the bow. And if you can pick it up and
- 27:58immediately use that piece of equipment, say, I don't know, I
- 28:04don't know how they're getting away with this.
- 28:06And look, I mean, he called it from the time he made that video
- 28:08till now. What what a couple months or
- 28:10something and. No, this came out eight days
- 28:13ago. 08 days ago and boom, there's a cease and assist and.
- 28:20Did you say cease and assist? Cease and desist.
- 28:23There you go. Yeah.
- 28:25But yeah, I mean, All in all, I'm, I agree with you here, not
- 28:32just being biotech to bias, man, my language is going out the
- 28:35window. Bias to Botech.
- 28:37My name's not on the contract. You know, I just, I think it's a
- 28:44little unfair or righteous of, of people to hate on Botech
- 28:51because they've recently over the past year been put in the
- 28:53spotlight between the Athens thing and now this for being
- 28:57like patent protectors. Well, good for you.
- 29:02If someone just came up and said I want your car and just took
- 29:05it, would you be pissed? Yeah, like just took your car
- 29:09right out of your driveway and said, but I've been paying for
- 29:11that. I put the down payment on that.
- 29:13Like I've spent money on that that car.
- 29:15And they're like, well, it's I want it now.
- 29:18And they just took your car. Now you have no car.
- 29:22Well, it's sort of like it. It's it's literally the, the
- 29:25backlash is so interesting. It, it really is when like the
- 29:29rules for me, the and not for me, that's what it is.
- 29:32It's that it's like deciding which laws you think should be
- 29:36around and which ones you don't think should.
- 29:38It's so stupid. It's like it, it would be like,
- 29:41oh, well, the speed limit's 55, but I think it should be 70, so
- 29:44I'm going to go 70. That's like you're just deciding
- 29:47what rules you think should matter.
- 29:49But the rules are still the rules.
- 29:50It's still a patent bro. Like, I don't know.
- 29:53And and maybe maybe bow tech's wrong and it is different.
- 29:57And if that's the case, fine, but you've got to let.
- 29:59It worked out with time. But you've got to let it play
- 30:02out. You know what I mean?
- 30:03Like the system, look at that picture, it looks the exact
- 30:06same. So if you're in bow tech shoes,
- 30:08you go, OK, we looked at it. We know our patent, we think
- 30:12this violates it. Please stop using it.
- 30:15And then it's up to them what they want to do next.
- 30:17Truth can go, well, we don't care.
- 30:18We think we're going to win, keep selling bows and then you
- 30:21get a lawsuit. And then you really find out
- 30:23who's right. Yeah, it's as simple as that.
- 30:27And that'll only time will tell. And we'll I'll, you know, I'll
- 30:30keep up with watching the keyboard war.
- 30:33If not really, I'm just going to keep up with, you know,
- 30:36following if a lawsuit does then transpire from this.
- 30:39This one's going to get some engagement, I do want to say.
- 30:42With that being said, sponsors of today's video, it's got to be
- 30:46Botech Archery. You Botech Archery, sponsor of
- 30:48the today's pod and Podium archer.com, whose video we watch
- 30:52to research for this code. Team BD saves 10% almost
- 30:58storewide, so go use that. They sell all sorts of archery
- 31:03products. They ship fast, good prices,
- 31:05free shipping, $99.00 and up. So yeah, Team BD, Podium,
- 31:11archer.com, Botech, archery.com. And yeah, I am, I'm, I don't
- 31:19know, I'm just tired of Otech being in this like hated space
- 31:24and it's a relatively new thing, like that wasn't the case until
- 31:28pretty recent. I just, I hope they're just.
- 31:31The one who keeps getting their patent stolen.
- 31:33I hope soon we get kind of like Renaissance or like a reset.
- 31:39And I mean, I'm going to do my best to promote good bows just
- 31:42like, I mean, I post archery content literally every single
- 31:47day, year around and all of it. I'm shooting a bow tech, you
- 31:52know what I'm saying? And I'm not going to shoot them.
- 31:55I don't care what it is like. I'm not shooting something that
- 31:57I think's ass. And obviously that's true
- 32:01because I've shot the bows for 20 years.
- 32:06It's a long time. I'm not going to shoot him for
- 32:0920 years, 19 of them for as a normal paying customer because
- 32:17they were trash. You know what I'm saying?
- 32:18I shot him because I really like them and then I signed on with
- 32:21them because I think they're a great brand and I want to be a
- 32:23part of helping, helping grow the ship, you know, So I don't
- 32:26know. It is what it is.
- 32:28In other news, we're working on some top secret things that I
- 32:33can't talk about. I could just say we're working
- 32:35on something really, really cool and we are selling boning veins
- 32:39now, Boticidals, boning veins with the logo on the side.
- 32:43We actually have some new ones coming in as well, so we'll have
- 32:46another version on the site in probably about a week.
- 32:50What do you think of the veins we got?
- 32:51The Atlas veins we got? The.
- 32:53The alpha. Sorry, we got the AA veins and
- 32:56the Blazers, Yeah. Tried and true.
- 32:59Dan, we're selling. We have white, yellow and pink
- 33:04and I'm freaking excited. I think on your bow you're going
- 33:08to be running the alphas and I'll probably just keep running
- 33:14the Blazers that way. We have a little bit of a mix.
- 33:17For Ted on my color coordination.
- 33:20For Ted, we'll probably, I'm probably going to get Ted set up
- 33:22with the Alpha Alphas as well for his big Alcott, be a little
- 33:26quieter. But yeah, a lot of exciting
- 33:30stuff happening. Check out the website
- 33:32boatdisciples.com. We're really growing it.
- 33:34I mean, there's a lot of stuff on the website for you, so go
- 33:37check that out. And we got some hunts coming up.
- 33:42I don't, but I do have hunts where I'm, I'm going to be
- 33:45helping and of course filming, which I love.
- 33:48You got a deer hunt coming up. I know you're excited about,
- 33:51you're comfortable with the bow now.
- 33:53You got her dialed in, your whole setups dialed, you know,
- 33:57for for that hunt. And then when you get back, I
- 33:59know you're going to do some some tweaking with arrows, as we
- 34:02talked about up at Victory for Tech Tuesdays.
- 34:07Or is that what it's called tech?
- 34:08I think so. So, yeah, a lot of fun stuff in
- 34:12the pipe. And then of course, Ted's Elkin.
- 34:14It's going to be some bitching content as well.
- 34:17Just a lot happening. It's been a Goodyear and.
- 34:21Flying by. Yeah, I know, I know.
- 34:23It really is flying by and I just.
- 34:25Got to say too, January. It's been fun because it's
- 34:28August right now and we've been home since.
- 34:34When did we get back from the last trip?
- 34:36You got home, well, you were home for one evening and then
- 34:39went to Mexico. So you were Mexico the 14th
- 34:43through the 18th. So you've been home since July
- 34:4519th? So we've been home since the 19.
- 34:47That's not true because then we disappeared up to hunt Black
- 34:50tail for. Oh geez, I peak.
- 34:52A week or something? So we've been back since early
- 34:54the end of July, early August. So anyway, we've been back
- 34:57about, let's call it two weeks and we really did take a proper
- 35:04probably like week off of really just basically just doing
- 35:07orders, doing short form content, filming the house
- 35:10series. We should talk about the house
- 35:11series. So that was super, super fun.
- 35:15And I obviously got the idea from Bryson Dechambeau legend
- 35:19golf content where he did the same thing.
- 35:23He had to hit a hole in one over his house.
- 35:24I think he did it day 14 but that's obviously much harder
- 35:28than shooting target even though 260-4246.
- 35:31Is still frigging impressive to do.
- 35:33Yeah. Thank you.
- 35:34Holding one in, I was about to comment.
- 35:37On his 14 Oh, it's very. Welcome this.
- 35:39Both are impressive. Yeah, yes, both are impressive.
- 35:43Yeah. But anyway, I thought that was a
- 35:45lot of fun. It was actually really
- 35:47interesting to read the comments because people were very engaged
- 35:52in that series. Yeah.
- 35:53They really. Well that made you think of
- 35:54another one, which I will not say.
- 35:56Yeah. So you can do it in the future.
- 35:58Those will be rolling out soon. Next part will be rolling out
- 36:01soon so. I.
- 36:04Don't know anything else you want to touch on in this
- 36:08particular podcast? No, I mean we are excited.
- 36:14We get to go up today and a whole bunch of Badlands gear and
- 36:18it's like Christmas when we get up there today.
- 36:22So in those videos never perform as well as like a both well.
- 36:28You know. Technology like gear review I.
- 36:31Thought about this. I don't know why I never thought
- 36:32about this. Just do shorts on those, yeah?
- 36:35Yeah. Rather than a full video, just
- 36:37do 'cause you shorts can be 3 minutes now, yeah.
- 36:40So you could do like a 3 minute short talking through the gear
- 36:43and that way it's not funking with your algorithm for the the
- 36:47the. Lightweight, you know, hot
- 36:50weather, short, cold weather, specific item, whatever.
- 36:54What I'm really excited about too, is that Teddy doesn't even
- 36:58know, but I I got him a ton of gear.
- 37:00I did tell Connie. Oh, you did.
- 37:02I told her not to tell him she hasn't because we're it's going
- 37:05to be a surprise. And you know, he loves getting
- 37:06like hunting stuff or bow stuff or arrows or whatnot.
- 37:10So anyway, I do think my video would be funny though if we
- 37:13tease him with giving it to him but then tell him like he's got
- 37:16to make a certain shot for every piece of gear and each time.
- 37:20It could be kind of fun, but anyway, so we got to have a
- 37:23bunch of gear. Brianna got new gear, I got gear
- 37:28just to make sure we're really dialed for this next month and a
- 37:30half, but between? Cold weather Hot weather.
- 37:33One thing I want to say is I'm telling you that's that is the
- 37:37best value code that we could offer.
- 37:40It is 20% off. Yeah, and hunting clothes,
- 37:44though Badlands is good, like good quality prices like any
- 37:50hunting gears, like somewhat steel steep.
- 37:53But when like you can go to one site and it's frigging $300.00
- 37:57for a pair of pants, I'm like, I'm out.
- 37:59I will say too that Badlands. So not only do you get 20% off
- 38:02when you use Code Team BD badlandsgear.com, but they also
- 38:07have the the most robust warranty out of any of the Cam.
- 38:12It's the best part about the. Bird so their their their
- 38:14warranty is very similar to what vortex has where you could send
- 38:17vortex. They have that picture where
- 38:19it's like a muddy just mess of parts and they sent it, you
- 38:22know, sent it back and then Vortex sent a new pair.
- 38:25It's the same at Badlands. So I mean, you could have a
- 38:27backpack for 10 years and then you tear, you know, it brings.
- 38:31A lifetime warranty. There's no ifs, ands or buts
- 38:35about it. It is a lifetime warranty.
- 38:39So if after a year that shirt is, you know, beatered and you
- 38:45go across the Bush and it finally tears in a scene, all
- 38:49you got to do is you go to the website, you go to the warranty
- 38:52section, they're going to walk you through it step by step.
- 38:54It's so simple. It sounds like an ad right now,
- 38:57but literally like what other companies when you're paying
- 39:01$150.00 for AT shirt, but it's a lifetime T-shirt, you could get
- 39:06that T-shirt over and over again.
- 39:08All you got to do is pay 11 time purchase of the shirt for
- 39:11$150.00. And then you put a piece of tape
- 39:14on the area of the item backpack.
- 39:17Like Ted sent back a backpack where the the clip fell off or
- 39:22whatever or broke or something. All you do is stick some blue
- 39:25tape on there to show where it's damaged.
- 39:29And nine times out of 10, they're just going to send you a
- 39:33brand new product. I have not seen where Ted has
- 39:37received back like a fix of the same product.
- 39:41So you could still see it had wear and tear or something like
- 39:43that. It was his.
- 39:44They just send you a new one. Now can they fix it?
- 39:47Yes, that's part of the the lifetime warranty, but you
- 39:52either are going to get it fixed or you're going to get a brand
- 39:54new one back. And to save that much money when
- 39:57hunting is so expensive, like when you think about the fact
- 40:00that tags are going up in states, licenses are going up in
- 40:03states. Well plus 20% is just a lot.
- 40:07Every time I hear the amount I'm like dude that's crazy.
- 40:09So if you buy $100 item, you're only paying 80 bucks when you
- 40:13use Code Team BDA. Lot of veterans discounts or
- 40:17what do they call them? Brittany was just talking about
- 40:19this first responder. First responder discounts aren't
- 40:22even that. High.
- 40:22I know it's a lot. So anyway, definitely use that
- 40:25code. I've been loving my Fanny pack.
- 40:27I've been using it. I've been using it every single
- 40:30shoot. At first I thought it was too
- 40:32big, now I don't think so. It fits really well.
- 40:34It's very comfortable. I can fit 2.
- 40:36I can fit 3 waters in there or a camera.
- 40:39I can fit all kinds of stuff. So I've really been liking the
- 40:42Fanny pack. Buy no harness combo for 3D
- 40:45shoots. And then you said this is your
- 40:48favorite backpack, this and we've tried quite a few
- 40:50different brands of backpacks. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:53So the I don't even know the model I have, but I have one
- 40:55it's it's a very simple day pack, which is what I
- 40:58traditionally like as day packs. And the one I have I I really
- 41:04like. I mean, so I've had Tenzing,
- 41:07I've had Everly stock the Team Elk pack, the Tenzing I think I
- 41:11had like the TZ 2200. And then I now have the
- 41:14Badlands. I wish I knew the model but I
- 41:18always really liked my Tenzing pack and was like dude that's my
- 41:21favorite pack. Then I got the Eberly stock and
- 41:23I it was it was fine but I definitely like my Tenzing
- 41:26better. Then I got this Badlands pack
- 41:29and at first I thought it would maybe be a little too simplistic
- 41:33for me. It was pretty simple but it does
- 41:35have things you can add. I just didn't really add any.
- 41:37So I was running a pretty raw dog other than the side pockets
- 41:43and I love it. I mean, it fits really good.
- 41:47It's a good size, but you can also fit a lot in it.
- 41:49It's got enough nooks and crannies because I like to have
- 41:51a special spot to put like tags and licenses.
- 41:54So it's got that and yeah, I've enjoyed it.
- 41:58So I'm actually, we'll see if I mean, we'll see.
- 42:02I think I'm getting a backpacking one as well, like
- 42:04for like tent camping, so I'll give that a try as well.
- 42:07I normally don't hunt that way. Usually, but I mean with Ted's
- 42:11hunt, like we said, there is some potential that you guys
- 42:14will need to got to figure out the tent situation though we're
- 42:17going to do that. But granted, you could always if
- 42:20it's not buggy, literally just the tart and and a string, you
- 42:25know for do. But you guys may end up needing
- 42:29to hike out a few miles and like every couple days if I got to
- 42:32bring in water or whatever and hike back out, you know, if
- 42:37that's what's going to be best for getting to the elk you guys
- 42:39spot or what not, that backpacks going to come in pretty darn
- 42:44clutch for that. Yeah.
- 42:46So I mean, but yeah, I'm excited.
- 42:50We're going to go up there today to my parents, film a few
- 42:53things, a lot of lot of great content coming out.
- 42:57I mean, we've done a lot, lot of content this year, so be sure if
- 43:01you happen to be just a podcast listener, which is, you know,
- 43:05definitely possible, head over to the regular Boat Disciples
- 43:08channel, check it out. We have so much cool stuff
- 43:10coming out. Not only a bunch of hunts this
- 43:12year that have been posted, more to come, but a lot of fun
- 43:15shooting right now. We got a lot of more educational
- 43:18like stuff coming out, which is. Really easy.
- 43:20I think that's great. It's stuff we we don't do often,
- 43:23but we do it in more of, you know, it's still fun and
- 43:25relaxed. You know the everyday person.
- 43:27You don't got to like really dive down the rabbit hole.
- 43:31It's like, you know what works for you.
- 43:33You can still do it at home. You don't got to dive down the
- 43:36rabbit hole like we're about to with arrows and you know, get
- 43:41this in depth. But I think it is fun to do.
- 43:44It's stuff we haven't done. So I think it's going to be very
- 43:46interesting. I think this Broadhead test is
- 43:48going to be interesting. Yeah, I'm excited for the
- 43:50Broadhead. Test I'm excited to shoot the
- 43:52gelatin. Well, how many how many times
- 43:54have you seen the broadhead? I'm sure they exist like if you
- 43:57were to look on YouTube, but it's probably not too often that
- 44:00someone does it with short draw light pounded so that that'll
- 44:02be. And again, might not perform
- 44:04great because that's not many. No, it will.
- 44:05But that'll perform great. Yeah, that'll do great.
- 44:08But the video that I'm most excited for people to see is
- 44:11actually the SOS video because even editing that sucker, I'm
- 44:15like, dude, this is, it's not like a lot of times when you
- 44:21test the archery product, it's like subjective, like, oh, I
- 44:24feel it's better, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:25This is like a you can see the data and it is, I won't say
- 44:29which direction, but it's very clear whether the product works
- 44:33or not. It's not like I think it might
- 44:36work. It's like, no, you look at it,
- 44:37look at the data, it works. And we tested that.
- 44:41Like I thought of that when we were shooting with Joey and then
- 44:44we just went out there. I showed up late.
- 44:47We had four people do it, so you get to see four people do it.
- 44:50Four different variations of shooters, you know, somebody who
- 44:53is, you know, way more twitchy, you know, has has a shake like,
- 44:59you know, Yeah. And then you who's been shooting
- 45:03for forever and like is almost dead still as it is, the
- 45:07evidence is there in all of the shooters, which is what's crazy.
- 45:12And what's crazier to me is that like that was like on a whim,
- 45:16quick test throw a mantis and an SOS on and off each person's
- 45:20bow. We filmed the.
- 45:21Whole thing in. An hour wind environment.
- 45:23Yeah, we filmed the whole thing in an hour and a half, so it
- 45:26wasn't like we were fluffing it and taking forever to film each
- 45:29person 'cause we're trying to get the result we want.
- 45:31No it was literally 2 shots with and without track it.
- 45:36Boom next person because we don't want to be there forever.
- 45:38Everyone was hungry and wanted to go get Lollipop.
- 45:40So what's it's going to be so crazy to be able to like, it's
- 45:43really one that I'm most interested to do a follow up
- 45:48video where we like slow down. Yeah, we go indoors.
- 45:51Yeah, definitely. And start looking at like you
- 45:54know you can change how much you rotate that SOS.
- 45:59That's what I like is changing. Yeah.
- 46:01And, and I think that's going to really be beneficial for myself
- 46:05to find exactly what I I need. But being able to see that each
- 46:09time with the Mantis, I think it's just going to be crazy.
- 46:13And now you're in a, you know, controlled environment indoors
- 46:17and then going back out now once you've fine-tuned this piece of
- 46:20equipment, seeing the results and then going and shooting like
- 46:24in an environment in short distances, in long distances.
- 46:28There are some questions I have about the product that I did not
- 46:31say in the video, but maybe in Part 2 we could say is like I do
- 46:36have a bit of concern just because the wires are relatively
- 46:39frail. Like if you set your bow down
- 46:41incorrectly, is it going to like bend the shed out of those
- 46:44wires? I'm not really sure.
- 46:46So I do want to maybe do like a durability test and I do have a
- 46:49bit of concern it won't maybe be the best.
- 46:51It might be one of those products you got to be kind of
- 46:53cautious how you set your stuff down.
- 46:55Yeah, but. Or when traveling you may need
- 46:58to or when traveling take it off case that is cut out for it
- 47:03which people do it with their. Now there may be a way to build
- 47:08build like a cage around it or something or like a put it in a
- 47:11bottle or something so that way it's protected like it could be
- 47:14I don't know in the view it would look goofy, but it could
- 47:17work. I don't know.
- 47:18So it was one of those things that I'm very excited for that
- 47:21video to come out that'll be out this Sunday.
- 47:24So when you guys are watching this tomorrow on Wednesday, this
- 47:27will be out Sunday, So go check that out and.
- 47:31Look at those thighs. Thank you.
- 47:33Yeah. Big old eggs, big old missiles.
- 47:36But anyways, I think that's about it for this this spot.
- 47:38I think it was a really good we. Got to go get some gas strings
- 47:41put on. Yeah, we got to go get some gas
- 47:42System X strings put on my Reckoning 39 Gen. 2 and
- 47:47Brianna's Virtue. We're going to get some fresh
- 47:49strings put on and then go up and film content for a bunch of
- 47:55time later this afternoon. So stay tuned.
