- 1:06Speaker 3: Anything for a good cause.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'm a security guard. I kill people every fucking day.
- 1:14Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:15Speaker 1: When I was growing up in Bakersfield, my favorite thing
- 1:18Speaker 1: in all the world was to go to the movies
- 1:19Speaker 1: on Saturday afternoons for the chapter plays.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I know that, mister man. They also call them cereals.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I'm not stupid, you know.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I am the devil, and I am here to do
- 1:31Speaker 4: the devil's work.
- 1:45Speaker 5: All right, everyone, welcome to the first official ranking podcast
- 1:50Speaker 5: here on Beyond the Blood. My name is Chris aka
- 1:54Speaker 5: Bearded Film Guy. I'm going to be your host through
- 1:58Speaker 5: this Texas Chainsaw Masacre rank, and of course, as always,
- 2:02Speaker 5: I'm joined by my co host Steve.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Good morning, Good morning. What's going on, my friend?
- 2:07Speaker 5: You had a rough night's sleep and I'm fighting allergies,
- 2:11Speaker 5: so I'm sure this is going to be a blast.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I did. And you know what, when I woke up
- 2:16Speaker 3: this morning, I just knew that we had this Texas
- 2:19Speaker 3: Chainsaw massacre ranking ahead of us, and it just gave
- 2:22Speaker 3: me that second win that I needed.
- 2:24Speaker 5: You actually like flew out of bed. You're like, all right,
- 2:27Speaker 5: we gotta get this done.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I started screaming the I'm the Lord of the Harvest,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and I just got my ranking together and I was like,
- 2:34Speaker 3: all right, I'm ready to record with Chris.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I woke up this morning and got a ton of
- 2:38Speaker 5: laundry done, and then I was like, all right, Monday morning,
- 2:42Speaker 5: it's a holiday, it's sunny. I was like, let me
- 2:44Speaker 5: let me find something that just like feels really good
- 2:47Speaker 5: to put on. So I put on Jonathan Demi's The
- 2:50Speaker 5: Silence of the Lambs.
- 2:54Speaker 6: What else watching?
- 2:55Speaker 3: Okay? I saw you posted that and I was thinking
- 3:00Speaker 3: to myself, I'm thinking, like, is he really watching that?
- 3:04Speaker 3: This early in the morning. That's a bold move.
- 3:07Speaker 5: And then I woke up and up it's like I
- 3:09Speaker 5: don't know what to watch, and I had just been
- 3:11Speaker 5: I don't know why I've been I've had this inkling
- 3:13Speaker 5: to watch The Sons of the Lambs.
- 3:15Speaker 6: I was like, you know what, let me just do it.
- 3:17Speaker 6: And it look I've seen it before.
- 3:20Speaker 5: It's not as depressing as it, you know, normally would be.
- 3:23Speaker 6: It's a great movie.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Sorry, I've been itching to go back and rewatch the
- 3:27Speaker 3: Evil Dead trilogy. Been talking about that just sporadically on
- 3:32Speaker 3: different live streams, and it just feels like the right
- 3:36Speaker 3: time to revisit it.
- 3:38Speaker 5: I want to talk to you about doing maybe the
- 3:42Speaker 5: audience listening to let me know I want to do some.
- 3:47Speaker 6: Like talk about scores.
- 3:48Speaker 5: And soundtracks on here. I've had this idea to do
- 3:53Speaker 5: like a evolution of the Evil Dead scores because I
- 3:58Speaker 5: actually have Erica bought me the first Evil Dead vinyl.
- 4:02Speaker 5: It's the remaster or the re recording.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Is it the one from is it Mondo?
- 4:09Speaker 6: I'd have to get it.
- 4:11Speaker 5: I forget it was really hard to find like she
- 4:13Speaker 5: had on eBay, but it's it's expanded, so it's like
- 4:16Speaker 5: double the tracks. But I went through a whole phase
- 4:19Speaker 5: where I was doing research for this video. I want
- 4:21Speaker 5: to do an Evil Dead like evolution of the score,
- 4:24Speaker 5: and I was just gonna break down the individual scores
- 4:26Speaker 5: because like the Army of Darkness score is incredible, and
- 4:28Speaker 5: then you get into like Evil Dead twenty thirteen.
- 4:31Speaker 6: So that's something I want to start covering.
- 4:33Speaker 5: More So, if anybody's listening to this and you're like, hey,
- 4:36Speaker 5: that sounds pretty fucking cool, because we can we can
- 4:38Speaker 5: actually add in brief stintse of the score here.
- 4:43Speaker 3: That would be very immersive.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's what I want to do. Side Tangent.
- 4:48Speaker 5: I know we're talking TCM today, but you know, let
- 4:51Speaker 5: the people in on what's going on.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yeah. These episodes, I feel like are kind of like
- 4:55Speaker 3: our After Hours episodes are a little bit more laid
- 4:58Speaker 3: back fun.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so yeah, Texas Chainsaw Mascar Man, we're finally going
- 5:03Speaker 5: to rank them. Let me ask you, uh, did you
- 5:09Speaker 5: find the ranking all that difficult to put together?
- 5:14Speaker 3: Maybe towards the middle. I feel like that there's a
- 5:18Speaker 3: lot of different entries that I kind of went back
- 5:23Speaker 3: and forth on. I mean, I think you can at
- 5:26Speaker 3: least roughly agree on maybe for sure like the top
- 5:31Speaker 3: the top couple, but it's when you start getting from
- 5:34Speaker 3: like the middle on down because I don't know, it
- 5:37Speaker 3: just feels like a log jam right in the middle.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 5:44Speaker 5: I think I really struggled because it's like almost past
- 5:48Speaker 5: a certain point, it's varying degrees of bad ideas. It's
- 5:52Speaker 5: not really bad execution. Like I think there's a couple
- 5:55Speaker 5: of movies that are good movies, they're just not good
- 5:59Speaker 5: Texas chains On Mascer movies. And it's something we'll get
- 6:03Speaker 5: into as we kind of chat about each movie. But
- 6:06Speaker 5: we individually have our own ranking, and we decided, let's
- 6:10Speaker 5: come on here and instead of before recording, we'll build
- 6:14Speaker 5: a beyond the Blood ranking. We'll kind of fight this
- 6:19Speaker 5: out as we go and kind of construct the beyond
- 6:21Speaker 5: the Blood ranking. And obviously, like my ranking is going
- 6:24Speaker 5: to change to fit it, your ranking's going to change
- 6:26Speaker 5: to fit it. Universally, we have a pretty good like
- 6:30Speaker 5: like we're very similar in a lot of areas, Like
- 6:32Speaker 5: there's just a few places we had to move some
- 6:34Speaker 5: things around to build it. But of course I always
- 6:38Speaker 5: like to give this disclaimer anything we're doing. Ranking wise,
- 6:42Speaker 5: this is our ranking. This is not definitive. You don't
- 6:45Speaker 5: have to agree. You know, if it wasn't our individual rankings,
- 6:50Speaker 5: it wouldn't be fun. If we just agreed with everybody,
- 6:53Speaker 5: it wouldn't be fun, right, it wouldn't.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Be our own.
- 6:56Speaker 5: So if anybody wants to get bent out of shape,
- 6:58Speaker 5: out of anywhere anything is placed, share then just you
- 7:01Speaker 5: know what, message us individually, tell us that you disagree,
- 7:05Speaker 5: and send us your ranking and we'll.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I was about to say, share your ranking with us.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I was gonna say, we'll tell you that you're wrong,
- 7:11Speaker 5: But so TEXTA chains On Mascar franchise since nineteen seventy
- 7:19Speaker 5: four has produced nine movies, including the original, the latest
- 7:25Speaker 5: being Netflix's twenty twenty two Texas Chainsaw Masker very original title,
- 7:32Speaker 5: and that was a sequel to the original that brought
- 7:35Speaker 5: Sally back. The timeline of this franchise and the continuities
- 7:40Speaker 5: all over the place, it barely exists even between the
- 7:43Speaker 5: first two movies. When you were younger, Steve, what movie
- 7:49Speaker 5: before we get into figuring this out, what sequel or
- 7:55Speaker 5: remake or prequel, however you want to put it, did
- 8:00Speaker 5: you find yourself attached to outside of the.
- 8:03Speaker 7: Original, I would have to say the I think the
- 8:12Speaker 7: movie that I had the most rewatchability with outside of
- 8:16Speaker 7: the original was the O three remake.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Same just because of I think not only that was
- 8:22Speaker 3: around the time that I was really starting to get
- 8:23Speaker 3: into horror like that, but it was just it was
- 8:27Speaker 3: a staple of like the two thousands run of like
- 8:31Speaker 3: horror films that were coming out at the time and
- 8:33Speaker 3: kind of led the way for you know, like Friday
- 8:36Speaker 3: the Thirteenth and you know, all the other you know,
- 8:40Speaker 3: remakes we were getting around then. But I would have
- 8:43Speaker 3: to say that one and then I just remember Texas
- 8:46Speaker 3: Chains saw three and the Next Generation being those ones
- 8:52Speaker 3: that I always saw at the video store. I just
- 8:55Speaker 3: wasn't as into the series that at that point.
- 9:01Speaker 5: So what about you, Oh three remake? And I always
- 9:06Speaker 5: loved I saw the beginning in theaters. I was like
- 9:09Speaker 5: seen you know when that came out.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw much more.
- 9:14Speaker 5: I remember like the new line era of TCM, like
- 9:17Speaker 5: three and Next Generation, those were like the video store staples.
- 9:24Speaker 5: And I would say that in a way kind of
- 9:27Speaker 5: like I I feel like it was the original for me,
- 9:30Speaker 5: And then I didn't see two until way later on
- 9:34Speaker 5: in life. I actually didn't like it, and then I
- 9:37Speaker 5: was like being stupid, and then I came to love it.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Text chancew O three was like life changing. At that
- 9:45Speaker 5: time in my life.
- 9:46Speaker 6: I had the cool DVD set with like the foldout.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yep.
- 9:51Speaker 5: The beginning was huge because I remember going to the
- 9:54Speaker 5: theaters and seeing that and I forget who took me.
- 9:56Speaker 6: I think it was my stepdad maybe.
- 9:59Speaker 5: And then when we got to Texas Chainsaw three D
- 10:02Speaker 5: that's sort of when I tapered back out, you know
- 10:06Speaker 5: what I mean.
- 10:07Speaker 6: And then you know, so there's kind of a there
- 10:11Speaker 6: was a really big.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Attachment there in the middle in like the early two
- 10:14Speaker 5: thousands between O three and O six and then kind
- 10:17Speaker 5: of post that.
- 10:18Speaker 6: I wasn't the most excited for the Netflix one.
- 10:20Speaker 3: No, not at all. It's just weird, Like I just
- 10:24Speaker 3: wanted to at least go into it with an open mind,
- 10:27Speaker 3: as I did with all the other sequels post uh
- 10:32Speaker 3: the beginning. You know, I didn't. I wasn't really following
- 10:36Speaker 3: the series past that. You know. They just I think
- 10:40Speaker 3: it's just well, how much more can you really do? Uh?
- 10:42Speaker 3: With these characters? And yeah, well obviously debate that as
- 10:48Speaker 3: we get a little bit further into it. Some are
- 10:50Speaker 3: better than others.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Yeah, and the beginning, the beginning and O three have
- 10:53Speaker 5: a great attachment because the beginning is a prequel to
- 10:56Speaker 5: the three remake, so like they're directly connected. And then
- 11:00Speaker 5: when you get into TEXTA Chainsaw three D, I think
- 11:03Speaker 5: it goes back to the original.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Lower like it a little bit of recconning.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Yeah, it's I'm already confused.
- 11:11Speaker 3: The jumble timelines.
- 11:13Speaker 6: I don't know where I'm at.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I don't know what's worse this or Halloween.
- 11:19Speaker 5: This, especially when you get into like Texas Chainsaw four
- 11:24Speaker 5: and they get into like the conspiracies and like the
- 11:27Speaker 5: FBI and the Illuminati plot, and that's post uh, that's
- 11:35Speaker 5: that's post Thorn trilogy Halloween. So Halloween is much easier
- 11:40Speaker 5: to comprehend than textra change sa Maascar, text chain some masker.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Trying to explain it to somebody is like, Okay, so
- 11:46Speaker 5: you have the original, and then you have the seql
- 11:48Speaker 5: to the original, but the sequel to the original is
- 11:50Speaker 5: not the same type of movie as the original. And
- 11:54Speaker 5: then you have the third. Yeah, then you have the
- 11:57Speaker 5: third and then that's completely different in tone. And then
- 12:02Speaker 5: the fourth goes way crazy, and then you don't have
- 12:04Speaker 5: anything until the remake, and then it gets real why
- 12:07Speaker 5: and then there's the next movie is a prequel to
- 12:09Speaker 5: the remake. But then the next movie is a prequel
- 12:11Speaker 5: to the original or the sequel to the original Texas
- 12:13Speaker 5: chain sawm ask here, but it's a prequel to this.
- 12:17Speaker 6: It gets pretty fucked up.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I mean yeah, I mean I think I described it
- 12:24Speaker 3: once with the Texas Chainsaw series as there's when the
- 12:30Speaker 3: highs are high. They're definitely high, but there's a lot
- 12:34Speaker 3: more lows the series, like really low lows.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Yeah, so we actually to kick this off, we actually
- 12:43Speaker 5: both agree on our bottom ranking here, our very last
- 12:49Speaker 5: title here. So let's add this into the notes as
- 12:53Speaker 5: our final that we both ag.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Can I say it's by a wide margin, at least
- 12:56Speaker 3: in my rankings. I feel like some of these other
- 12:59Speaker 3: ones I can at least justify really wanting to go
- 13:03Speaker 3: back and rewatch. This is one that I just when
- 13:06Speaker 3: I saw it, it felt more like a one time
- 13:09Speaker 3: watch for me. And and we'll get into it, but
- 13:13Speaker 3: I was very surprised finding out who the directors were
- 13:17Speaker 3: behind this movie.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so we're talking about in last Place twenty
- 13:23Speaker 5: seventeen's leather Face. This was directed by Alexandre Bussio and
- 13:29Speaker 5: Julia Morey, who directed the French film Inside and I
- 13:34Speaker 5: love that movie, yeah, which is great. Leatherface was so spoilers.
- 13:44Speaker 5: If you're listening to a TCM ranking, I hope you've
- 13:46Speaker 5: seen all the movies anyway. But what really pisses me
- 13:50Speaker 5: off about Leatherface is that there's a there's a decent
- 13:53Speaker 5: idea here of like, let's go all the way back
- 13:58Speaker 5: to teenage leather Face, right, it's a great I thought like, hey,
- 14:05Speaker 5: do we need it?
- 14:06Speaker 4: No?
- 14:07Speaker 6: Could it be something? Yes?
- 14:11Speaker 5: And what you get is sort of like this on
- 14:15Speaker 5: the run movie that you end up just not giving
- 14:21Speaker 5: a shit about anybody.
- 14:24Speaker 3: No, not at all. It felt more like a thriller
- 14:30Speaker 3: than it did it. No, No, And I think after
- 14:35Speaker 3: we had the beginning, I just didn't really see the
- 14:39Speaker 3: value in mining Leatherface's origin again and doing it worse
- 14:46Speaker 3: this time. I just, yeah, it felt like a road movie,
- 14:53Speaker 3: like that type of approach to this, and maybe it
- 14:58Speaker 3: would work a little bit better if the writing like
- 15:02Speaker 3: really shine, but it definitely didn't in this movie. And
- 15:06Speaker 3: that's what I was looking at was I don't believe
- 15:10Speaker 3: the directors, So is it Julian Maury and Alexandre Bastillo. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 3: so it looks like they didn't have a writing credit
- 15:20Speaker 3: on this, and for Inside, they actually were responsible for
- 15:24Speaker 3: the writing for that film, So I wonder if there's
- 15:28Speaker 3: some correlation there. But this is one that by the
- 15:32Speaker 3: time I got through it, it just did not land
- 15:36Speaker 3: for me. This was a movie that I just don't
- 15:38Speaker 3: really have any desire to revisit. And if I'm going
- 15:41Speaker 3: to go back and I'm gonna watch the original Other Face,
- 15:45Speaker 3: which I mean, Chris, you could probably make a case
- 15:49Speaker 3: like do you really need it? No?
- 15:51Speaker 5: I mean, do you need any of the origin stories?
- 15:53Speaker 1: No?
- 15:53Speaker 6: Not really. No, It's funny.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I was looking at the writer for The Face, Seth Sherwood.
- 15:59Speaker 5: He wrote Hellfest, which is a favorite of mine, kind
- 16:02Speaker 5: of a little sleeper horror movie from from right after
- 16:06Speaker 5: this time, twenty eighteen.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Maybe it was just a miss.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, it's it's it's.
- 16:15Speaker 5: The movie does this crazy thing where it leads on
- 16:20Speaker 5: that one of the characters that were following, who is
- 16:22Speaker 5: a teenager who is very much a leather face character.
- 16:27Speaker 5: He's got the build of leather face. He's got the look,
- 16:32Speaker 5: he's got the lack of personality, like he is a
- 16:35Speaker 5: leather face. And even in the marketing for the movie,
- 16:38Speaker 5: I remember there was a shot in the trailer of
- 16:40Speaker 5: that character like dragging a body through the woods, and
- 16:44Speaker 5: it was like, okay, there's leather Face. I don't need
- 16:47Speaker 5: you to like pull the rug out from under me
- 16:49Speaker 5: and say, hey, the guy you thought was Leatherface isn't.
- 16:52Speaker 5: And that's what this movie does. The character who you
- 16:56Speaker 5: thought was going to be Leatherface turns out not to be,
- 17:01Speaker 5: and it's just a weird choice all around. Man, there's
- 17:05Speaker 5: no this feels like we wrote a script for another movie.
- 17:10Speaker 5: We're not gonna make that other movie, but we can
- 17:12Speaker 5: kind of retrofit Texas chains on masker into this and
- 17:17Speaker 5: that's what you end up getting. So just not my
- 17:22Speaker 5: bag of team. We did not need this.
- 17:23Speaker 6: And the reviews for this movie are all over the.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Place, like it's got a five point zero with thirty
- 17:30Speaker 5: thousand reviews on IMDb, and some people are claiming that
- 17:34Speaker 5: this is a masterpiece. Other people were saying that, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 5: this is the worst thing ever made.
- 17:41Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 17:42Speaker 5: I just have no desire to go back and watch
- 17:45Speaker 5: this movie.
- 17:46Speaker 3: No. Ever, this when I was talking about the low
- 17:49Speaker 3: points in the franchise, I think this is the lowest.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah that I'm being punished for being a Texas chainsaw fan.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, I mean it feels that way.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Nobody has talked about this movie again, Like there's no
- 18:02Speaker 5: I forgot this movie.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Existed, which is wild because I remember, do you recall
- 18:07Speaker 3: at one point these directors were they were initially attached to.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I believe it was a continuation of the Rob Zombie
- 18:15Speaker 3: Halloween movies. It would have been a third entry.
- 18:18Speaker 6: I remember hearing that.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and I remember hearing about them. They were like
- 18:23Speaker 3: speculated to be attached to the project. I think that
- 18:25Speaker 3: there was a hell Raiser project at one point that
- 18:28Speaker 3: they had been attached to, So maybe this wasn't the
- 18:33Speaker 3: project for them. I just feel like that they kind
- 18:35Speaker 3: of didn't really bring anything new to the franchise.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Yeah, and I mean since then, they've only directed.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Let's see.
- 18:50Speaker 5: I always get confused by they directed a movie called
- 18:54Speaker 5: The Deep House. They also directed be called The Soul Eater.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I think both of those were put out from Arrow
- 19:03Speaker 5: at some point, and both of these have pretty good reviews,
- 19:07Speaker 5: and we have a five point eight of five point
- 19:10Speaker 5: three out of ten with significantly less reviews.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I thought it was interesting. I just looked up the
- 19:18Speaker 3: composer for this film, John Frizell. He's done a lot
- 19:22Speaker 3: of collaborations with Mike Judge, so he hit. He did
- 19:25Speaker 3: Beavis and butt Head to America Off Space. Plus I
- 19:30Speaker 3: believe he did the score for Dante's Peak Alien Resurrection,
- 19:34Speaker 3: so it's such an interesting choice to pair with, you know,
- 19:41Speaker 3: doing a score for this movie. So I don't know.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I just thought it was an interesting tidbit about the
- 19:46Speaker 3: uh the movie itself.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, number eight. This is where we get into
- 19:53Speaker 5: our first, our first little thing here, and I don't
- 19:57Speaker 5: think I'm gonna fight as much. I think I might
- 19:59Speaker 5: end up falling to this. So for number eight my
- 20:03Speaker 5: personal ranking, I have Texas Chainsaasker of the Next Generation
- 20:09Speaker 5: and you have the twenty twenty two Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Now let me ask you, Texas chains Masker of the
- 20:19Speaker 5: Next Generation is the only movie of the Texa Chaninslaw
- 20:23Speaker 5: mask of franchise that does not have a kill from
- 20:27Speaker 5: a chainsaw and texta Chainsabasker twenty twenty two is the
- 20:31Speaker 5: only movie of the franchise that has a bust full
- 20:34Speaker 5: of people who get killed by a chainsaw. So what
- 20:37Speaker 5: kind of agreement can we come doing this?
- 20:39Speaker 3: We'll get Well, okay, that scene and I feel like
- 20:46Speaker 3: it's probably the most notable scene that you have in
- 20:50Speaker 3: this film, I would say, outside of the Sally face
- 20:55Speaker 3: off with other face, which to me, that heart is
- 21:01Speaker 3: such a mishandling of that character because I know that
- 21:07Speaker 3: the angle that they're going for felt like very much
- 21:10Speaker 3: in the same vein as Jamie Lee Curtis. Yeah, she's
- 21:13Speaker 3: been she's been preparing for this moment her whole life,
- 21:16Speaker 3: and just to have her basically just like one and done,
- 21:22Speaker 3: like she just gets destroyed. She's been preparing for this moment,
- 21:27Speaker 3: and it just feels like she tripped over her own
- 21:29Speaker 3: shoelaces and just felt like face first into the chainsaw.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not good for a legacy.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Character like that. That is why I have such a
- 21:40Speaker 3: hard time with this movie, because it just felt like
- 21:44Speaker 3: you weren't respecting anything about the original film, and it
- 21:50Speaker 3: just felt like this film was really trying to ride
- 21:53Speaker 3: the success of the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy. It just didn't.
- 21:58Speaker 3: It didn't connect for me. Now, I'll say the scene
- 22:01Speaker 3: you were talking about earlier where you have everyone that's
- 22:04Speaker 3: on a live stream and they're on the bus and
- 22:08Speaker 3: they're all watching through their phone. They have leather face
- 22:12Speaker 3: that comes on the bus. I will not take that
- 22:15Speaker 3: away from you. That scene is just that's right up
- 22:19Speaker 3: my alley and it's so gory. But it's not enough
- 22:24Speaker 3: for me to justify putting this movie higher in the ranking,
- 22:28Speaker 3: just because the movie, for me, it just feels like
- 22:31Speaker 3: outside of that, it feels very I don't know. The
- 22:39Speaker 3: plot just doesn't really resonate with me. Yeah, the characters
- 22:44Speaker 3: don't do much for me, and that's why I don't
- 22:46Speaker 3: have it higher in the list.
- 22:48Speaker 5: You know, I think my placing of the movie is
- 22:53Speaker 5: purely in the enjoyment factor, right, because we're never gonna
- 22:59Speaker 5: get closed to what the original movies felt like. I
- 23:03Speaker 5: did feel a little insulted, not actually, but you know,
- 23:08Speaker 5: just in the handling of Sally. I do think there's
- 23:14Speaker 5: a lot of cool leather face shit in this movie,
- 23:17Speaker 5: and I think it's brutal. It brings the violence, but
- 23:20Speaker 5: the overarching plot of a group of these young kids
- 23:26Speaker 5: who purchase a town and they're gonna do whatever they're
- 23:31Speaker 5: gonna do with this. Yeah, they're gonna make like this
- 23:35Speaker 5: woke city. Whatever they're gonna do is so incredibly forceful.
- 23:41Speaker 5: And I do think that there's because people commentate on
- 23:43Speaker 5: this movie all the time and they're like, this is
- 23:45Speaker 5: what's wrong with modern day characters, like modern day young characters,
- 23:49Speaker 5: that they make them so unlikable, But it makes the
- 23:51Speaker 5: payoff of the death better.
- 23:54Speaker 6: But that works different.
- 23:56Speaker 5: Like I think if there's a character that you hate
- 23:59Speaker 5: and you want to see them die, right, it's it
- 24:02Speaker 5: feels good. You're like, Okay, cool, that character's gone. They
- 24:05Speaker 5: deserve that, versus characters you like that you don't want
- 24:10Speaker 5: to see get killed, and when they get killed, it
- 24:13Speaker 5: provokes a different response. I prefer that end of the latter.
- 24:19Speaker 5: I want characters that I care about, whose lives are
- 24:24Speaker 5: put in danger, that I don't want to see die,
- 24:26Speaker 5: but I know have to, and it makes the death
- 24:30Speaker 5: that much more memorable for me, you know what I
- 24:34Speaker 5: mean for sure?
- 24:35Speaker 3: And I'm trying to think towards the end of it.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It's it's kind of crazy because it it's so fast. Oh,
- 24:48Speaker 3: where there's basically like a decapitation. At the very end
- 24:51Speaker 3: of it, you think these two characters are going to
- 24:53Speaker 3: be getting away, and in a split second, I was like, Okay, well,
- 25:03Speaker 3: at least you ended on a bold way to finish
- 25:06Speaker 3: out the movie. I will say one thing that I
- 25:11Speaker 3: have to commend this movie for is a cinematography. It's
- 25:15Speaker 3: gorgeous in this film. A cinematographer on this film is
- 25:19Speaker 3: Ricardo Diaz, and I was really impressed with that as
- 25:24Speaker 3: a whole. There are some highlights in this movie. I
- 25:30Speaker 3: can't say that it's obviously hitting quite the same low
- 25:33Speaker 3: as as Leather Face for me. And of course you
- 25:37Speaker 3: have Colin Stetson doing the score for this film. He's
- 25:41Speaker 3: responsible for Hereditari and I think he did recently Uzumakim.
- 25:45Speaker 3: He did the score for that as well, So I'm
- 25:49Speaker 3: a big fan of his work. And that really enhanced
- 25:54Speaker 3: the experience, that really elevated the atmosphere. But I think
- 26:00Speaker 3: the writing for me just just fell a little flat.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I didn't really get to attached, at least for me,
- 26:06Speaker 3: I did not get attached to the characters like that.
- 26:09Speaker 3: And I just wasn't the biggest fan of what they
- 26:11Speaker 3: did with Sally Hart esteem.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's it was fun. Like I remember
- 26:15Speaker 5: putting it on and like I think we like had
- 26:18Speaker 5: a beer dooring and you know.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Like the only way to watch it.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Yeah, never had it inkling to watch again. I did
- 26:25Speaker 5: buy like an mod physical copy of it, so I
- 26:29Speaker 5: do have that, but that was just for sake of
- 26:30Speaker 5: like wanting to own the collection, you know what I mean.
- 26:35Speaker 6: Now I'm willing.
- 26:36Speaker 5: I'm one hundred percent willing to shift my placement of
- 26:38Speaker 5: it because I actually have it in fifth on my ranking.
- 26:46Speaker 5: So I'm getting now confused between my ranking and your ranking.
- 26:52Speaker 5: The only thing we would have to move because in
- 26:56Speaker 5: my place for that, after a lot of face, I
- 26:58Speaker 5: have Texas Chains Master for the Next Generation, which was
- 27:02Speaker 5: directed by Kim Henkele, who wrote the original Texas changsu
- 27:07Speaker 5: Asker alongside Toby Hooper and had never actually watched the movie.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Fun fact, he's never been able to watch the Texas
- 27:15Speaker 5: Chains some ascer because he felt like it was it
- 27:18Speaker 5: looked like it was made by a bunch of students.
- 27:20Speaker 5: It is actually like his exact quote. New line comes
- 27:23Speaker 5: to him and says, hey, you wrote the original, we
- 27:26Speaker 5: want you to direct another Texas Chainsum asker movie and
- 27:29Speaker 5: we wanted to feel like the original, and Kim Henkle
- 27:32Speaker 5: accepted that job. How can you make a movie that
- 27:34Speaker 5: feels like the original of you never seen the original,
- 27:39Speaker 5: what you end up getting is the most annoying leather
- 27:42Speaker 5: Face in the world. Good performances by Matthew McConaughey and
- 27:48Speaker 5: Rene Zellweger, but they've since basically wanted to take their
- 27:53Speaker 5: name off.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Of the film.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Yeah, they've disowned it. You don't get a single chainsaw kill. Instead,
- 27:59Speaker 5: you get an airplay, like a prop plane kill that
- 28:02Speaker 5: swings down and kills somebody. There's some cool you know,
- 28:05Speaker 5: like when when Leatherface busts out of the I don't
- 28:08Speaker 5: know if it's like a greenhouse or whatever that is,
- 28:10Speaker 5: and all the windows break and other than that, Dude,
- 28:13Speaker 5: this movie's just worthless, man, But you know you have
- 28:19Speaker 5: it in six So let me hear your side of
- 28:24Speaker 5: the story.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Okay, So, like I mentioned earlier, this and Texas Chainsaw
- 28:30Speaker 3: three or video store staples. I know what this movie is.
- 28:36Speaker 3: It's it's like I feel like it's maybe a little
- 28:42Speaker 3: bit more self aware of what it is. Then I
- 28:45Speaker 3: think maybe some people pick up on because I think
- 28:48Speaker 3: if you watch this movie at first glance, or maybe
- 28:52Speaker 3: you're more of a casual fan, I could see how
- 28:54Speaker 3: this might not resonate, but it is the most It
- 28:58Speaker 3: is exuding that nineties wild, unpredictable energy. I love that
- 29:07Speaker 3: it takes some bold swings. You know, you're obviously getting
- 29:13Speaker 3: performances from Matthew McConaughey rene Zelwiger very early on in
- 29:17Speaker 3: their career. McConaughey, very unhinged, over the top. I felt
- 29:24Speaker 3: like he really stole the show for me, you know,
- 29:27Speaker 3: not at the time when I saw this, I wasn't
- 29:29Speaker 3: as familiar with him as an actor, and he obviously
- 29:33Speaker 3: didn't have the career that he does now. And I
- 29:37Speaker 3: think that that it's like it feels like watching like
- 29:42Speaker 3: a car accident, right, you know, you know, you you
- 29:46Speaker 3: know you shouldn't look at it, right, I mean, you
- 29:50Speaker 3: know you shouldn't gowk and and you know, like be
- 29:53Speaker 3: you know, staring at this tragic event. But I can't
- 29:56Speaker 3: help but love this movie for just how shit fucking
- 30:00Speaker 3: crazy it is. And I know we were talking about
- 30:05Speaker 3: this a little bit earlier, except it definitely doesn't play
- 30:09Speaker 3: it safe. It's embracing the weird conspiracy laced subplot. The
- 30:15Speaker 3: family dynamic is just so out there and it almost
- 30:20Speaker 3: you don't.
- 30:20Speaker 6: Think they're out there watching. It's like right.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Now, I swear, it's like blurring the line between a
- 30:27Speaker 3: dream and a straight up nightmare. And I feel like
- 30:31Speaker 3: it's one of those cult movies that time will be
- 30:35Speaker 3: kind to it.
- 30:37Speaker 5: A lot of time has passed since the nineties and
- 30:43Speaker 5: now it hasn't.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Been very Chris, I sell you on it or what
- 30:45Speaker 3: I want.
- 30:46Speaker 5: To put up an argument? Okay, so for sake of
- 30:49Speaker 5: we still haven't solidified this position yet, but I want
- 30:52Speaker 5: to put up an argument because we both agree on
- 30:56Speaker 5: our next positioning, which is Texas Chance All.
- 30:59Speaker 6: Three d.
- 31:02Speaker 5: A movie that most people only love because of Alexandra
- 31:05Speaker 5: da Dario, A movie that is the weirdest fucking place
- 31:11Speaker 5: in the timeline because Alexandria or Alexandra da Dario was
- 31:14Speaker 5: like twenty four. Yet she's somehow the ancestor of Leatherface,
- 31:19Speaker 5: and Leatherface is still alive. He lives in the basement
- 31:21Speaker 5: of the house that she inherited. This was written by
- 31:26Speaker 5: friend of the podcast, Adam Marcus Co written by him,
- 31:29Speaker 5: which ye outside of the do Your Thing Cause.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I was like throwing that in our group chats.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think that's I don't think the movie's
- 31:38Speaker 5: terribly written, but I don't I don't think this is
- 31:40Speaker 5: a good Texas Chainsaw Mascer movie.
- 31:45Speaker 6: So I want to propose.
- 31:48Speaker 5: That for number eight we do Texas Chansaw three D
- 31:53Speaker 5: and number seven we do Texas Chainsaw Netflix.
- 31:59Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 32:00Speaker 5: How's that sound? Yeah, that's fair because I'm willing to
- 32:03Speaker 5: all right, so let's once this gets written.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I feel like we're playing fantasy football right now. We're
- 32:07Speaker 3: making a trade.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Yes, yes, we'll do Texas Chainsaw three D. What what's
- 32:15Speaker 5: your feelings on three D? How do you How do
- 32:17Speaker 5: you feel about that movie?
- 32:18Speaker 3: It's it's not the worst out of the franchise. I
- 32:22Speaker 3: don't think it's the worst. And this is at least
- 32:24Speaker 3: from my ranking. Obviously, I have a deep appreciation for
- 32:28Speaker 3: Adam Marcus, you know, and and everything that he brings
- 32:31Speaker 3: to the table. On this one, I think it's more
- 32:36Speaker 3: or less. I don't. I don't hate it, but I
- 32:41Speaker 3: don't love it. Yeah, it obviously they're they're using this
- 32:47Speaker 3: film as a continuation of of Toby Hooper's original classics,
- 32:50Speaker 3: so it feels like it's basically serving as a direct
- 32:53Speaker 3: sequel to that. It's obviously embracing the legacy of it.
- 32:58Speaker 3: You get some uh, some memorable performances. We have a
- 33:02Speaker 3: lot of returning casts from I believe from the original, right,
- 33:06Speaker 3: we have one sick.
- 33:09Speaker 6: I think.
- 33:10Speaker 5: There's some, but I can't remember. Dude, I barely like
- 33:16Speaker 5: the characters in this movie.
- 33:17Speaker 6: I'm just not.
- 33:19Speaker 3: No, they don't. They don't resonate with you.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Every time I watched this movie, it's like I watched
- 33:23Speaker 5: it for the first time. I don't remember the last
- 33:24Speaker 5: time I watched it.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Okay, so this is us trying to recall. So Gunnar
- 33:30Speaker 3: Hansen comes back in it, Marilyn Burns, and then John
- 33:35Speaker 3: Duggan is in it as well. Bill Mosley is also
- 33:39Speaker 3: in it, which, you know, anytime you have a chance
- 33:41Speaker 3: to bring in such a iconic actor, I can always
- 33:46Speaker 3: appreciate that, But it's not enough to really elevate this
- 33:52Speaker 3: further up for me. You know, you got you got
- 33:57Speaker 3: Trey songs that's in this I think that that's kind
- 34:00Speaker 3: of where it just loses me a little bit. It
- 34:02Speaker 3: felt like it was writing that trend of you know,
- 34:06Speaker 3: rappers turned actors getting cast in horror movies of the time,
- 34:11Speaker 3: and I think that that's.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Where I I do want to say, I think the
- 34:17Speaker 5: only time that has worked out well is Kid Cutty and.
- 34:21Speaker 3: X Yes, and that is like one out of out
- 34:27Speaker 3: of how many you know films that we've gotten this.
- 34:29Speaker 3: So Alexandro di Dario is not the problem with this
- 34:35Speaker 3: movie at all. I repeat, she's not the problem with
- 34:39Speaker 3: this movie. We repeat, she is a part of, you know,
- 34:45Speaker 3: I guess the three D element. I mean, I feel
- 34:48Speaker 3: like we've tried to revisit this countless times and I
- 34:51Speaker 3: just don't know if it's ever gonna stick, you know,
- 34:54Speaker 3: other than it being kind of a novelty you know, yeah, exactly.
- 35:03Speaker 3: It's again, it's not bad. There's a lot of legacy callbacks,
- 35:08Speaker 3: a lot of like Chainsaw Mayhem in this movie. So
- 35:12Speaker 3: I don't hate it, but I don't love it.
- 35:14Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, So let's this is not meant to be
- 35:19Speaker 5: a long episode. So we're making great progress. So we
- 35:23Speaker 5: have agreed. Number nine, leather Face, Number eight, Texas Chainsaw
- 35:28Speaker 5: three D. Now, I do want to say the jump
- 35:31Speaker 5: in quality from leather Face to Texas Chainsaw three D
- 35:34Speaker 5: is drastic. Yes, like Texas Chainsaw three D isn't like
- 35:38Speaker 5: I can sit down and watch it. I'm never gonna
- 35:41Speaker 5: get an inkling to watch the leather Face again. No,
- 35:44Speaker 5: leather Face is pretty back like I would bury it,
- 35:50Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 35:51Speaker 3: Eight out of nine of these films are worth re
- 35:54Speaker 3: visiting if you're doing some sort of like a movie
- 35:56Speaker 3: marathon with the Texas Chainsaw movies, I would only revisit
- 36:01Speaker 3: eight of them.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:02Speaker 5: When I got when I was doing my rewatch and
- 36:04Speaker 5: I got the leather Face, I was.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Like, oh fuck, do I you know? It was the
- 36:09Speaker 6: only movie that got that kind.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Of Chris was down bad that night.
- 36:12Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I got a response from it. So that
- 36:15Speaker 5: we have number eight Textra Chainsaw three D number seven
- 36:19Speaker 5: Netflix Textra Chainsaw Masker number six next generation, we only
- 36:26Speaker 5: have one more like real argument to get through. And
- 36:29Speaker 5: it's the only other difference in our rankings here, which
- 36:34Speaker 5: is I have in my ranking at number what's is
- 36:41Speaker 5: nine eight seven? I have a number six Texta chains
- 36:48Speaker 5: Masker three leather Face you have it at number four.
- 36:55Speaker 5: I have the beginning at number four. But these are
- 37:02Speaker 5: two movies for our number five spot that I could
- 37:07Speaker 5: go either way with.
- 37:10Speaker 6: Texas Chaneaster three.
- 37:12Speaker 5: Is enjoyable, you know, despite all the issues with the
- 37:16Speaker 5: director being fired and then they couldn't find anybody else
- 37:18Speaker 5: the director, so they re hired him again.
- 37:21Speaker 6: With like the MPAA just gutting.
- 37:26Speaker 5: All of the gore out of this movie, we have
- 37:28Speaker 5: like another this is Friday thirteenth, Part seven.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it really is.
- 37:32Speaker 5: You know, And I think what is cool about this movie.
- 37:36Speaker 5: I think like Vigo Mortensen is a co addition, you know.
- 37:42Speaker 5: I like Ken Ferret even though all he's shooting his
- 37:45Speaker 5: one liners the whole time. You know, to me, this
- 37:48Speaker 5: is sort of like the what like this is what
- 37:53Speaker 5: I expect the franchise to go to when a company
- 37:55Speaker 5: like new Line picks it up, you know. So I
- 37:58Speaker 5: don't I'm not like this movie doesn't offend me. It
- 38:04Speaker 5: doesn't bring anything new to the table. It pulls it,
- 38:08Speaker 5: it pulls its punches because of the MPAA stuff, you know.
- 38:12Speaker 6: But I but I still don't mind it.
- 38:15Speaker 3: No, it's it feels more like a traditional slasher. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 3: it's it's not obviously, you know, as psychological and just
- 38:28Speaker 3: gritty and terrifying as the original. It doesn't hit the
- 38:32Speaker 3: same highs as Texas Stan Saw Too, because that's more
- 38:35Speaker 3: of like a horror comedy. And then this comes along,
- 38:41Speaker 3: and I feel like it's very much in the same
- 38:45Speaker 3: vein as a lot of the other Slashers that were
- 38:47Speaker 3: coming out around the time. Doesn't do anything new to
- 38:50Speaker 3: reinvent the wheel or reinvent the franchise. I just really
- 38:55Speaker 3: appreciate like the darker, grittier tone to it. It's just
- 38:59Speaker 3: very raw, brutal, and it's unfortunate obviously we probably didn't
- 39:05Speaker 3: get the completed vision, you know that Jeffer set out
- 39:11Speaker 3: to initially direct and you know, put out there. I
- 39:17Speaker 3: like that it it feels so desolate, It feels so
- 39:21Speaker 3: like far removed from society. You know. It's just you
- 39:28Speaker 3: can feel the isolation of where this has taking place.
- 39:31Speaker 3: And sometimes I didn't always feel like that, you know,
- 39:35Speaker 3: with like Texas Chance Saw two, didn't feel super far
- 39:38Speaker 3: removed from the city. You know, the iconic chainsaw that
- 39:44Speaker 3: you get in this movie, it's obviously it looks completely
- 39:47Speaker 3: different than what we've gotten before it, And I mean,
- 39:52Speaker 3: how can you argue when the chainsaw itself has a
- 39:55Speaker 3: saw As family carved into it.
- 40:01Speaker 5: I rest my case, Yeah, Yeah, and of course you
- 40:08Speaker 5: have this one position ahead of Texas chan Samasca at
- 40:13Speaker 5: the beginning, so we have this place swapped. I have
- 40:16Speaker 5: the beginning a number four, you have leatherface at number four.
- 40:24Speaker 5: So the beginning, obviously I just had fresh eyes on
- 40:28Speaker 5: thanks to the arrow.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 40:29Speaker 6: Okay, saw this movie. Saw this movie in theaters.
- 40:33Speaker 5: I was like fifteen when it came out, maybe sixteen,
- 40:36Speaker 5: depending on when that release date was. This this was
- 40:42Speaker 5: a movie that I enjoyed, not in the same way
- 40:47Speaker 5: that I enjoyed three. Jonathan Leebsman directed another movie that
- 40:52Speaker 5: I really liked that people hate, called Darkness Falls.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I remember that yep from early two thousands.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll be scared the shit out of me.
- 41:03Speaker 3: You know.
- 41:03Speaker 5: I think the beginning feels very connected. It feels the
- 41:08Speaker 5: same world as O.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Three.
- 41:09Speaker 5: They really tried to capture that Daniel Pearl cinematography again.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Sure, but.
- 41:17Speaker 5: The beginning feels like the torture porn Texas Schanslaw massacre.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 41:23Speaker 5: You have the beginnings of are the Ermi's character of
- 41:28Speaker 5: the sheriff or sheriff air quotes.
- 41:32Speaker 6: You see how the father.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Lost his legs in Texas Chansaw O three you kind
- 41:40Speaker 5: of get the closing of the slaughter house, you know,
- 41:45Speaker 5: and it it kind of fills in a lot of
- 41:49Speaker 5: these like questions you might have had about how characters
- 41:52Speaker 5: got there and oh three, did it need to know
- 41:58Speaker 5: the characters I didn't hate, you know. I like the
- 42:03Speaker 5: idea of their kind of heading back to go to Vietnam.
- 42:08Speaker 5: One brother is a draft jumper. He's going to go
- 42:12Speaker 5: to Mexico. The other brother doesn't know. I think it
- 42:13Speaker 5: brings up a good little dynamic there, you of that
- 42:16Speaker 5: sibling dynamic. And even two when when they are caught
- 42:21Speaker 5: by the family, the one brother pretends that he's the
- 42:25Speaker 5: draft jumper to kind of protect his brother, and it
- 42:27Speaker 5: brings up like it is, it is good conflict to
- 42:30Speaker 5: kind of bring up in good you know.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Well, it's it's different plot lines that I don't think
- 42:37Speaker 3: you see too often in horror films right, let alone
- 42:41Speaker 3: in a Texas chainsaw film. I think it works in
- 42:46Speaker 3: a great way that it kind of creates like more
- 42:50Speaker 3: emotional depth, character development, you know. And this always felt
- 42:57Speaker 3: like the companion piece to the three remake.
- 43:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think I think the gore is really effective,
- 43:07Speaker 5: but it does lean much more into that torture. You know,
- 43:11Speaker 5: you have the scene where the brother gets his head
- 43:13Speaker 5: saran wrapped while he's hanging by his arms and the shed.
- 43:18Speaker 5: I especially think the push up scene is fucked up
- 43:21Speaker 5: when he says like, oh, you can go and then
- 43:23Speaker 5: breaks his spine, you know, tells him like all right,
- 43:27Speaker 5: you're you're free to go, and now you can't go.
- 43:30Speaker 3: It's more, it's more means spirited, I feel like, you know,
- 43:35Speaker 3: and definitely riding the wave of movies that we had
- 43:40Speaker 3: coming out around that same time. So it would have
- 43:42Speaker 3: been not too far removed from like you know what
- 43:45Speaker 3: I mean, Hostel would have been out around the same.
- 43:47Speaker 6: Time or a year before twenty and five, yep.
- 43:52Speaker 3: So you know, we got a wave of that in
- 43:55Speaker 3: the early to mid two thousands, and it definitely feels
- 44:01Speaker 3: like this leans more into that. I think that that's
- 44:03Speaker 3: a little bit why I don't have higher you know,
- 44:08Speaker 3: I can appreciate that obviously, if we're going to be
- 44:11Speaker 3: choosing this origin over leather Face, I would take this
- 44:16Speaker 3: one hundred times over. But there's times where I just
- 44:23Speaker 3: as much as I enjoy gore and horror films, this
- 44:28Speaker 3: feels like it's leaning a little bit too heavy on
- 44:31Speaker 3: it more for the shock value.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Especially with like the death, like cutting off the legs
- 44:36Speaker 5: you know, of the fire.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't need the backstory on that. Like
- 44:43Speaker 3: I remember seeing that in theaters and I was like, okay, well, yeah,
- 44:49Speaker 3: I have closure now.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Yeah, like the idea of like, oh, we got to
- 44:53Speaker 5: balance them out, so we'll cut off the other.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Leg you know, of course you got to make sure
- 44:57Speaker 3: they're even.
- 44:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:59Speaker 5: I mean Andrew Bernarski is that hey say his last name?
- 45:05Speaker 5: He returns to play leatherface in this one, and he's great,
- 45:10Speaker 5: just like he was in Texas Chaninsaw.
- 45:11Speaker 6: Oh three. It feels like are the Army sheriff character is.
- 45:16Speaker 5: Kind of in the front in the forefront, yes, of
- 45:18Speaker 5: this movie, much much more so, you know, the bikers
- 45:22Speaker 5: kind of felt pointless, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 45:28Speaker 5: I think I can. I think I can shift my
- 45:31Speaker 5: ranking here to agree with you, So.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Why don't can Can I just point out one other
- 45:37Speaker 3: thing about each film, And one thing that I really
- 45:39Speaker 3: appreciate is for for Texas Chainsaw the beginning, we have
- 45:48Speaker 3: composer Steve Jablon Scheme. Yeah, he has been responsible for
- 45:53Speaker 3: a lot of the scores that were coming out around
- 45:55Speaker 3: this time. So he was the one who composed the
- 45:58Speaker 3: score for the three remake. He also did it for
- 46:02Speaker 3: this film, and then I believe he also did it
- 46:06Speaker 3: for Yep.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that was because La La Land Records just released
- 46:15Speaker 5: Michael Bays of the Island and expanded to very Cool
- 46:19Speaker 5: and then a great one from him.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Yep, yep. And now I will say, on the other
- 46:25Speaker 3: side of things, I don't know if you've ever seen
- 46:28Speaker 3: the trailer for leather Faced, Texas Chainsaw Massacre three, but
- 46:35Speaker 3: can we spotlight how insanely awesome that trailer is.
- 46:42Speaker 5: We'll have to post it on the Instagram.
- 46:45Speaker 3: We will. I want everyone to see and acknowledge just
- 46:48Speaker 3: how great this trailer is. This is went back when
- 46:50Speaker 3: marketing there was a little bit more thought put into it.
- 46:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll post that over on the Instagram
- 46:56Speaker 5: because I've never seen it.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Oh, it's incredible. Just wait, it might this might push
- 47:01Speaker 3: it up the rankings for you.
- 47:02Speaker 6: Oh well, here we go.
- 47:05Speaker 5: So so far we have number nine leather Face, number
- 47:09Speaker 5: eight texta Chainsaw three D number seven texta Chainsaw. I
- 47:12Speaker 5: just put the Netflix's proper title.
- 47:16Speaker 3: That sounds about right.
- 47:17Speaker 5: We have number six Textra Chans at the beginning number
- 47:20Speaker 5: our next generation number five, the beginning number four. Leather
- 47:25Speaker 5: Face Texas Chancel mascar three. You know your franchise is
- 47:28Speaker 5: fucked up when you have two leather Face titled movies.
- 47:33Speaker 5: From this point on, it should be pretty easy because
- 47:36Speaker 5: we share the top three.
- 47:39Speaker 6: Steve, give everyone your thoughts on on.
- 47:43Speaker 5: On Marcus ne Spells the Texas Chainsaw Mascer three remake
- 47:47Speaker 5: that's at number three.
- 47:49Speaker 3: So I saw this movie very early on when I
- 47:53Speaker 3: was getting at a horror around the same time that
- 47:55Speaker 3: I saw Cheapers Creepers, and I did a double feature
- 48:00Speaker 3: of the original and this one, and obviously the original.
- 48:08Speaker 3: It's it's iconic. There's it's a film that gets like
- 48:14Speaker 3: the highest praise from me, but we obviously knowing that
- 48:17Speaker 3: it's more implied Gore if you will, for that film
- 48:24Speaker 3: compared to this, and this actually follows through with it
- 48:27Speaker 3: and you get an abundance of Gore kills. It's definitely
- 48:34Speaker 3: honoring the spirit of the original film, but pushes it
- 48:38Speaker 3: deeper into I feel like the atmosphere, the dread that
- 48:41Speaker 3: comes with it. Yeah, it man, I don't know. It's
- 48:48Speaker 3: same cinematographer Daniel Pearl comes back for this film.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Dude, Daniel Pearl coming back for this is incredible, Like
- 48:55Speaker 5: and he actually he worked with Marcus's Bell like he
- 49:01Speaker 5: was Marcus the Spell's go to cinematographer for hundreds of
- 49:06Speaker 5: music videos that this that The Spell directed before getting
- 49:09Speaker 5: this opportunity, So there was a long working relationship between
- 49:12Speaker 5: Daniel Pearl and him going into this one.
- 49:15Speaker 3: It's it's a film that time has really been kind
- 49:22Speaker 3: to it. I love that Daniel Pearl didn't set out
- 49:28Speaker 3: to recapture the same look that he you know, obviously
- 49:32Speaker 3: had for such an iconic horror movie, but did his
- 49:36Speaker 3: own thing on this and I think for that it
- 49:39Speaker 3: stands out on its own. The character, the group of
- 49:42Speaker 3: like teenagers are yeah I think they're teenagers. Yeah, they
- 49:45Speaker 3: were following young adults. Yeah, young adults, I would say,
- 49:51Speaker 3: very compelling. And it just works. Man. I mean when
- 49:57Speaker 3: I go back to this decade and I think of
- 49:59Speaker 3: like some of the highlights from this time, this is
- 50:02Speaker 3: definitely one of them.
- 50:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 5: I mean, like you can see you could see a
- 50:10Speaker 5: lot of similar DNA with Daniel Pearl all over the movie,
- 50:14Speaker 5: Like you know you can it doesn't it's not gonna
- 50:17Speaker 5: take you. If you're you know, base level horror knowledge.
- 50:20Speaker 5: I think you can really see the same visual style
- 50:25Speaker 5: going in and out, you know what I mean?
- 50:26Speaker 3: For sure?
- 50:29Speaker 5: I think this movie just takes everything I love and
- 50:34Speaker 5: it amplifies it. It expels, it makes it louder, it
- 50:38Speaker 5: makes it bigger, makes it a little grosser, but it
- 50:42Speaker 5: kind of knows where the ceiling is at keeps it there.
- 50:46Speaker 5: Because this is another example of me being young when
- 50:49Speaker 5: I saw this. I was thirteen when this movie came out,
- 50:53Speaker 5: and I thought this movie was much more violent than
- 50:55Speaker 5: it actually is.
- 50:56Speaker 6: It has some.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Gross moments, but again, like the original, I thought it
- 51:02Speaker 5: was more like it could have gone much further than
- 51:05Speaker 5: it does.
- 51:06Speaker 3: And that's why I feel like this one gets ranked
- 51:10Speaker 3: higher is because it toes that line between obviously being
- 51:15Speaker 3: more violent than the original, more graphic, more gory than
- 51:18Speaker 3: the original, but it's also not doing it in the
- 51:21Speaker 3: way that's like just for the sake of shock value.
- 51:24Speaker 3: That's where when I revisited the beginning is where I
- 51:29Speaker 3: felt like it kind of teetered a little bit over
- 51:32Speaker 3: that with some of like the mean spirited kills and
- 51:36Speaker 3: the gore just for the sake of just being just
- 51:40Speaker 3: graphic about it.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, leather for Andrew Bnarsky's massive in this movie,
- 51:47Speaker 5: Like he is incredibly intimidating.
- 51:51Speaker 6: I like.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Kind of the introduction of our the Army's character. We
- 51:57Speaker 5: didn't have the backstory.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Then, correct, Yep, you know.
- 52:01Speaker 5: I like the bringing in the different family, Like, yeah,
- 52:06Speaker 5: I think it's like the ants that live in the
- 52:08Speaker 5: trailer and or the front, you know, they kind of.
- 52:11Speaker 3: And it feels like a compound like that, because yeah,
- 52:15Speaker 3: it kind of feels like this is like their town.
- 52:17Speaker 5: You know, they're all kind of spread out a little bit,
- 52:19Speaker 5: but they're all here.
- 52:21Speaker 6: You know.
- 52:21Speaker 5: We don't get a dinner scene, which I think works.
- 52:24Speaker 5: I have never I watched a review of this movie
- 52:29Speaker 5: when a when Aero four K like first initially dropped,
- 52:33Speaker 5: and the person who I was watching had mentioned that
- 52:38Speaker 5: he thought it was a big miss to not have
- 52:40Speaker 5: a dinner scene in Texas. Shanesonmasker three, I never thought
- 52:46Speaker 5: about it. No, I didn't even realize up until that
- 52:49Speaker 5: point that there wasn't because the movie just flowed so well.
- 52:53Speaker 5: I never went, oh wow, I really miss that.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Well, I would argue that instead again, the dinner scene
- 52:59Speaker 3: you get the slaughterhouse chase, and that I feel like
- 53:03Speaker 3: it in a way really captures just how expansive their
- 53:10Speaker 3: property is, and we never really got I mean, we
- 53:14Speaker 3: had like the glimpses of the slaughterhouse in the original,
- 53:18Speaker 3: but I like that they found a way to incorporate
- 53:20Speaker 3: that into the O three remake. My only gripe with
- 53:24Speaker 3: this movie because I feel like it limited what they
- 53:28Speaker 3: could have done off of this movie was the fact
- 53:32Speaker 3: that Leatherface loses an arm. It just felt like you
- 53:37Speaker 3: backed yourself into a corner. Now, all these years later,
- 53:42Speaker 3: obviously we didn't really I mean, we got a prequel
- 53:44Speaker 3: out of this, but we didn't get a direct sequel
- 53:46Speaker 3: to it. So it would have been interesting to see
- 53:50Speaker 3: if they had actually explored that or maybe continue the story.
- 53:54Speaker 3: But since we're judging the standalone on its own, with
- 53:59Speaker 3: the beginning serving as a prequel, it's one minor h
- 54:05Speaker 3: complaint in the grander scope of things.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Yeah, TCMO three is genuinely I think it's one of
- 54:13Speaker 5: the it's it's in the top six best remakes of
- 54:19Speaker 5: all time. It it was it feels so loyal and faithful,
- 54:28Speaker 5: which is hilarious considering Daniel Pearl didn't watch Texas Chancel
- 54:32Speaker 5: Maasker when he accepted this job.
- 54:38Speaker 6: I just really like this.
- 54:40Speaker 5: Movie and and this absolutely could be a generational thing
- 54:42Speaker 5: at the time that we saw it.
- 54:44Speaker 3: Wait, are you talking about Daniel Pearl or Marcus the Spell.
- 54:47Speaker 6: Marcus de Spell?
- 54:48Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I remember, I remember he wasn't He wasn't
- 54:51Speaker 3: like I know that he Marcus a Spell. I don't
- 54:55Speaker 3: think really had any attachment to the film original.
- 54:58Speaker 5: No, he didn't, which is probably for the better. Yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 5: you know, worked out for the better. I wish he
- 55:03Speaker 5: had watched them more Friday the Thirteenth movies before making nine,
- 55:06Speaker 5: but that's a different, you know, conversation. Yeah, I love
- 55:11Speaker 5: oh three, So I'm very happy with this placement. I
- 55:14Speaker 5: do think it's the third best of the franchise. We
- 55:18Speaker 5: both also share a love for our second choice, which
- 55:21Speaker 5: is Toby Hooper's the textas Chance I'masker too, and that
- 55:25Speaker 5: incredible breakfast club poker they did. I mentioned earlier that
- 55:33Speaker 5: text Chance of Masker two to me, I never used
- 55:36Speaker 5: to love now I do. What do you say about
- 55:43Speaker 5: part two? Like, how do you It's it's so batshit
- 55:51Speaker 5: in in every single way. That you're not anticipating going
- 55:56Speaker 5: into it.
- 55:58Speaker 3: You have.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Chop Top Bill Moseley' chop Top, which is incredible. My
- 56:03Speaker 5: favorite running bit of his is the hangar picking off
- 56:07Speaker 5: pieces of the skin around his chrome plate.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Oh you dene in my plate.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I fucking love this movie. We talk about it way
- 56:16Speaker 3: more than we probably should, or at least I know I do. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 3: I adore this movie, and it's because it is in
- 56:24Speaker 3: my mind. You have Return of the Living Dead and
- 56:30Speaker 3: Evil Dead too, and I put this in the conversation
- 56:34Speaker 3: as some of the best horror comedies that came out
- 56:37Speaker 3: around this time. I still think that that's the case.
- 56:42Speaker 3: This movie is over the top. It knows what it is.
- 56:47Speaker 3: It wasn't trying to just be a continuation of the
- 56:51Speaker 3: first movie in tone.
- 56:54Speaker 6: It takes some boof of the first movie in a way.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, takes some big swings on this.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Yeah, because it still has like everything gets bigger, like
- 57:03Speaker 5: the chainsaw Lotherface's chainsaw gets bigger. You have Dennis Hopper's character,
- 57:09Speaker 5: I mean the scene when he's when he's outside of
- 57:12Speaker 5: the hardware store, hit in the wood with the with
- 57:16Speaker 5: the chainsaw, and then you have the owner who's practically
- 57:18Speaker 5: having like an orgasm over the way of power with
- 57:22Speaker 5: the chainsaws. It's fucking nuts, dude, Like, it is so nuts.
- 57:27Speaker 3: It's I laugh. I don't care how many times I've
- 57:31Speaker 3: seen this movie. I laugh so hard every time that
- 57:34Speaker 3: scene happens. And when the Leatherface has the chainsaw and
- 57:40Speaker 3: he's thrusting the chainsaw at Carolina Williams character in the movie,
- 57:47Speaker 3: it's just I just think it's hysterical. Yeah, it's over
- 57:53Speaker 3: the top. There's a lot of satire in this movie.
- 57:57Speaker 3: There's definitely some moments that are very terrifying, but it's
- 58:04Speaker 3: just it's in excess. There's just so much excess in
- 58:07Speaker 3: this movie. The outrageous gore effects you get from Tom Savini,
- 58:11Speaker 3: the performances across the board are just so memorable. You
- 58:15Speaker 3: get Dennis Hopper, Bill Mosley, Caroline Williams. It embraces the
- 58:20Speaker 3: chaotic energy of the Sawyer family, and it's obviously blending
- 58:25Speaker 3: horror and humor in a way that feels shocking obviously
- 58:31Speaker 3: if you are watching the first one and it's leading
- 58:34Speaker 3: into this one. But it feels very ahead of its time.
- 58:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, there's genuinely some like the jump scare
- 58:40Speaker 5: at the when Leatherface comes out of the vinyl.
- 58:43Speaker 3: Room the radio station.
- 58:44Speaker 5: At the radio station gets me every time. It just
- 58:48Speaker 5: feels like you have I think the best example is
- 58:50Speaker 5: in the first movie You Have, You Have the the
- 58:54Speaker 5: hammer hit right the door yep opens. You gets hit
- 58:57Speaker 5: over the head of the hammer. He falls to the ground.
- 58:59Speaker 5: He's gonna gets pulled in. In this movie, you have
- 59:02Speaker 5: a character who gets killed by a hammer again, but
- 59:04Speaker 5: he gets hit like one hundred and fifty times.
- 59:08Speaker 6: This poor guy, Like it's gory.
- 59:10Speaker 5: It just keeps going and keeps going and keeps going,
- 59:13Speaker 5: and it keeps cutting to it, and this guy just
- 59:15Speaker 5: won't die and chop Tops is hitting them over and
- 59:18Speaker 5: over and it's like it goes on for so long
- 59:22Speaker 5: you're like, okay, all right, well, and it.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Feels like a fever dream. A lot of this movie
- 59:27Speaker 3: feels like a fever dream. It's chaotic.
- 59:30Speaker 5: Yeah, they're staying in like the what is that that
- 59:32Speaker 5: they're staying in. It's like an old theme park.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like an amusement park. They're like underground and
- 59:42Speaker 3: you know, just I mean the opening scene, there's those
- 59:48Speaker 3: callers that are calling into the radio station the characters
- 59:52Speaker 3: are like out of their mind. It just feels like
- 59:56Speaker 3: charactertures of like normal people and and they're driving and
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: then you get leather Face that does like a dry
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: by you know, chainsaw attack.
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: He live in front of him, Like, I'm like, what
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: is going on?
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: Like, you know, that's the fact that a whole movie though,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: is the head that gets solid.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Oh, It's it's gnarly. And you know you have Dennis
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Hopper's character coming back to get revenge for you know,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Franklin essentially. Yeah, it's I don't know, I just love
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: this movie. I I talk about it way more than
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I should.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: It's old Man returns and he's like his introduction is
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: he wins the chili.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Oh's the peppercorns?
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: Yeah, And he's in a van freaking out because she's
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: playing the the recording over the radio.
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: It's out of control. Dude.
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: It's like, it's it's so nuts, man, It's it just
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: it's it's so interesting in the conversation of sequels to
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: like compare TCM one and two, it's it's kind of
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: unbelievable unless you sit down and really watch them.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: You know. The score by Jerry Lambert definitely elevates that chaotic,
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: like wild energy that you're getting in this movie. You know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: I was joking about it earlier when we started the episode,
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: but Dennis Hopper, you know, just yelling I'm the Lord
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: of the Harvest, Like, what are you talking about?
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: And it's like a It's like its own amusement park.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: Once you get underground.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: The set design is it's like a labyrinth.
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: Yeah, it's so good Man and him just running around destroying,
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: destroying the place, knocking down all the all the polls.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: He's got the chainsaw, and then you have the leather
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: face fight on top of the table with him. He's
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: dual wielding chainsaws and god, you have the old man
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: who pulls out the grenade, and then it goes nowhere.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: It doesn't show you what happened. He got old what
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: do you call like old faithful or a backup plan.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: Yeah. The ending stretch, Caroline Williams character is at the
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: top of the mountain, you know, doing the chainsaw dance.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: I'm like, and then it ends.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: It just ends. Yeah, there's no It literally just ends.
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: There's no resolution of anything else.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: It just.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: This is why I love this movie so much, and
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: it sounds bad there's there's I have a legitimate internal
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: conflict sometimes of which I love more the original or this,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: because obviously the the original is like a iconic horror movie.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: But I think what I appreciate about this movie so
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: much is that it takes some huge swings. Yeah, and
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: I don't know, there's sometimes I car I can throw
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: this on whenever I can rewatch this movie, whenever TCM
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: the original. I really have to be in like the
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: right mood for it.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think that's clearly leading into number one
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: being Texas Change some MASCAR. I don't want to go
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: into anything too extensive on that. I would certainly point
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: anybody listening if you haven't, to go back just a
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: couple episodes ago and watch or listen to our Texas
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: CHANGEOASCAR episode where we dissect the commentary track from the
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: ninety six laser disc. We go into depth into our
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: love for this movie and everything that we love. It's
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: a it's a good episode, I think, to get our
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: full thoughts on it, you know, going into this ranking,
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: I kind of when you send me yours, I was like, oh,
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: top half of this is going to be easy. We
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: agree and textas chains of masker and text Shaangs and
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: masker two are like, you know, millimeters apart.
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: It's a very there's like tough. If there was like
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: a physical.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: Positioning of ranking, they would be like touching tips, you
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: know what I mean. That's how close they are.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Chainsaw the chainsaw.
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: So let's go over the official beyond the blood TCM ranking.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: Here at number nine we have leather Face number eight,
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Texas Chainsaw three d number seven, Texas Chainsaw masker.
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: The Netflix.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Uh six, Texas hans some masker of the next generation,
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: five Textas chains some mascar at the beginning, I'm really
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: tired of saying Texas chainsa masker.
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: Number four.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: We have leather Face TCM three. Number three, we have
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: Marcus the Spells TCM three and then texta Chainsaw masker too,
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: and of course the Texas Chainsaw Masker sitting firm at
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: number one. What a month man covering Texas Chainsaw Masker.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: It's been a blast now that we're going into September.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was a fun. We got to
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: really cover such a beloved film, first and foremost for
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: the seventy four original. Got to go at nauseum on
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: it in the best way possible. We really got to
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: do our deep dive on the film, and it felt
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: like it was so appropriate for this time of year.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: And I know that this had been in the works
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: for a little bit. We had been going back and
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: forth and trying to like hammer out the ranking episode.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: But I'm so glad we did this because it gave
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: me an excuse to go back and revisit some of
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: the sequels and really try to get that, at least
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: for myself, a definitive ranking of you know, where I
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: place all of them.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, and I think too, like, we have
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: so much cool stuff coming up, and we've been really busy.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: There's we've recorded what three or four episodes interviews that
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: haven't even come out yet, So we've been busy as
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: far as recording and kind of create.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Got more stuff coming up too.
- 1:06:00Speaker 6: It's so much.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it's so much that that you guys as listeners
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: don't even know yet, stuff that we're kind of planning
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: and figuring out. But going into September, we have this episode.
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: You're gonna be listening this if you're listening to some
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: day one on Tuesday. On Friday, we're dropping a surprise interview.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: So I'm not gonna spoil that on here, but then
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: a week after that, we're gonna be doing our main
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: episode for the month. We actually have two main episodes
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: for the month. Or we're gonna be covering Rob Zombies
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: the Devil's Rejects. We're gonna be kind of tearing apart
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: the audio commentary from the two thousand and six DVD release.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: With Rob Zombie, We're gonna have Brian on from Last
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: Movie Standing. If you've been listening for a long time,
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: he was our guest on House of a Thousand Corpses
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: at the beginning of the year, so we're gonna have
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: Brian back on for that. We're also doing a bonus
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: commentary episode where we're gonna be talking about nineteen ninety
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: one's Popcorn.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: I'm excited for that.
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Yeah, and my wife's going to be on for that,
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: which is one hundred times more exciting. So very very
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: stoked for that. I encourage everyone to. We've been posting
