- Lucas: And we are back for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Episode 169. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. You know, Lucas, last time we talked about the climbing frame and we learned 'tengo miedo' and 'tú puedes'. Lucas: That's right. And today we're going to build on that. We'll learn a few more useful phrases for when you're at the playground, especially on the climbing frame. Luna: Ooh, I love the climbing frame. But I always get a little nervous at the top. Lucas: That's normal. So let's start with a simple one. If you want to say 'I want to climb,' you say 'Quiero subir.' Let's break it down. Luna: Quiero subir. Lucas: Perfect. 'Quiero' means 'I want,' and 'subir' means 'to climb' or 'to go up.' So together, 'Quiero subir.' Try it again. Luna: Quiero subir. Lucas: Great. Now, a friend might encourage you by saying 'You can do it.' That's 'Tú puedes.' We actually learned that last time, but let's repeat it. Luna: Tú puedes. Lucas: Exactly. So if you're at the climbing frame and you want to start climbing, you can say 'Quiero subir.' And if someone is hesitating, you say 'Tú puedes.' Luna: Okay, so I'm at the bottom of the climbing frame. I say 'Quiero subir.' Then my friend says 'Tú puedes.' Good. Lucas: Now, when you actually start climbing, you might say 'Voy a subir' which means 'I'm going to climb.' Let's hear that. Luna: Voy a subir. Lucas: Yes. 'Voy' is from 'ir' meaning 'to go,' so 'voy a subir' is 'I'm going to climb.' It's useful to announce your action. Luna: Voy a subir. I like that. It sounds determined. Lucas: It does. And one more phrase that's very important: 'Ten cuidado' — 'Be careful.' You might hear this from a parent or a friend. Luna: Ten cuidado. Lucas: Perfect. So let's put it all together in a tiny scene. Luna, imagine you're at the park with a little kid who wants to climb. Luna: Okay, I'm the kid. I say 'Quiero subir.' Lucas: And I say 'Tú puedes.' Then you start climbing and say 'Voy a subir.' Luna: Voy a subir. Lucas: And I say 'Ten cuidado.' Luna: That's so natural. I can picture it. Lucas: Let's practice each phrase one more time. Repeat after me: 'Quiero subir.' Luna: Quiero subir. Lucas: Tú puedes. Luna: Tú puedes. Lucas: Voy a subir. Luna: Voy a subir. Lucas: Ten cuidado. Luna: Ten cuidado. Lucas: You know, Luna, these phrases are so handy not just at the playground but in many situations. And I love that we keep it ad-free here on Fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's really nice not having interruptions. And if listeners want to support that, they can always go to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Exactly. Every little bit helps us keep going. So, back to the climbing frame. Imagine you're at the top and you want to come down. What would you say? Luna: Umm… maybe 'I want to go down'? But we haven't learned that yet. Lucas: That's right. 'Bajar' is 'to go down.' So 'Quiero bajar' is 'I want to go down.' But that's for another episode. Luna: Oh, teaser! Okay, so today we have 'Quiero subir,' 'Tú puedes,' 'Voy a subir,' and 'Ten cuidado.' I feel ready for the playground. Lucas: Perfect. Practice these phrases, and next time you're at a climbing frame, you'll sound like a native. Thanks for listening to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time!
