- 0:01Speaker 1: Rama's Andressian Junior, nicknamed Peaky, wasn't just a precious child.
- 0:07Speaker 2: One of Peaky's favorite songs was you are my Sunshine.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And that's exactly what he was, and that's what he is.
- 0:15Speaker 2: He's a bright, beautiful ray of sunshine.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Peaky was an old soul, a magnet for people and animals.
- 0:24Speaker 1: He loved nature and planting gardens. He smile just radiates
- 0:30Speaker 1: changes everything.
- 0:30Speaker 3: You know, you have a bad day, you see him,
- 0:33Speaker 3: everything changed.
- 0:34Speaker 1: It was just he was like he made any day better.
- 0:38Speaker 1: He was the only child of Armah's Andressian Senior and
- 0:42Speaker 1: Anna Estevez.
- 0:44Speaker 4: She wanted this child and it was her life. She
- 0:48Speaker 4: put everything into that.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Anna's journey to motherhood was hard fought.
- 0:53Speaker 5: She had been through in vitro, spent thousands of dollars
- 0:56Speaker 5: to get pregnant, had five miscarriages.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Not long after Peaky was born, the marriage between Anna
- 1:04Speaker 1: and Andressian soured. The couple divorced, and the court ordered
- 1:08Speaker 1: joint custody. Under the terms of the visitation agreement, the
- 1:12Speaker 1: couple was to exchange the child on neutral turf. They
- 1:16Speaker 1: always had a mutual meeting place.
- 1:19Speaker 6: Yeah, there was always a mutual agreement to meet at
- 1:21Speaker 6: either a police station or somewhere in public.
- 1:24Speaker 1: The divorce was a bitter one. Anna didn't trust Andressian.
- 1:27Speaker 1: She had a dash cam installed in her car to
- 1:30Speaker 1: record all exchanges of the child. One spring morning, the
- 1:34Speaker 1: couple agreed to a rendezvous point for Andressian to pick
- 1:37Speaker 1: up his son for a trip to Disneyland. Peaky and
- 1:41Speaker 1: his father had a full week to spend together.
- 1:44Speaker 6: He was supposed to return the child after seven days,
- 1:47Speaker 6: and the return was supposed to take place in San Marino.
- 1:51Speaker 6: At eight that morning.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Anna arrived at the designated location anxious to see her son.
- 1:57Speaker 6: She waited for hours at this drop off place in
- 2:01Speaker 6: San Marino to receive her childhood.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But father and son never arrived. Anna had not heard
- 2:08Speaker 1: a word from either of them.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Obviously, Anna became very, very concerned. She reported to the
- 2:15Speaker 3: police that her son was missing.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Just a few miles west, in South Pasadena, investigators were
- 2:21Speaker 1: working another bizarre case. Someone had reported a man lying
- 2:26Speaker 1: in the road. That man was Ramas Andressian Armar Senior,
- 2:31Speaker 1: was found in the parking lot at a royal park
- 2:34Speaker 1: in South Pasadena.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He was near his car, which was an older model BMW.
- 2:39Speaker 6: He passed out. He was found about thirty thirty feet
- 2:42Speaker 6: thirty five feet from the car.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Arma Senior was semi conscious and appeared to be somewhat
- 2:47Speaker 3: delusional when he was found by a passerby.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Court documents reveal on Dressian's hands were scratched and his
- 2:54Speaker 1: fingernails were filled with dirt.
- 2:56Speaker 6: He had a small laceration or to the top of
- 3:00Speaker 6: his head. He had some scratches to his forearms, his hands,
- 3:06Speaker 6: and he complained of bruising to his ribs.
- 3:08Speaker 1: No defensive wounds, No defensive wounds. Little Peaky was nowhere
- 3:13Speaker 1: to be seen. And to make matters worse, his father
- 3:16Speaker 1: appeared in no condition to explain why.
- 3:20Speaker 6: He was also found to be under some other opiates
- 3:23Speaker 6: some other prescription medications as well.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Andresian was transported to a hospital when he came to.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Initially did Arma's Senior say that he was robbed or
- 3:35Speaker 5: some people accosted him or approached him.
- 3:38Speaker 6: His initial statement to police officers when they responded to
- 3:41Speaker 6: the hospital after he had been transported was he didn't
- 3:43Speaker 6: know what happened.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Could Andresian have lost his only child because of a
- 3:49Speaker 1: pill and deuced stupor.
- 3:50Speaker 4: He kept on saying, I just fell asleep and walk
- 3:53Speaker 4: up and detectives were talking to me.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Police documents show Andresian made a curious comment to the
- 3:58Speaker 1: booking officer, quote, I bet they think of me like
- 4:01Speaker 1: some kind of casey Anthony, and then stated he was
- 4:05Speaker 1: quote probably all over the news by now. What's he
- 4:09Speaker 1: acting like?
- 4:09Speaker 5: Was armand Senior acting like a father who was distraught
- 4:12Speaker 5: in searching for his son.
- 4:14Speaker 3: He never asked about the condition of his son or
- 4:17Speaker 3: whether or not his son had been located.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Andresian turned the focus on his ex wife as a
- 4:22Speaker 1: possible suspect, Keithelt.
- 4:23Speaker 4: He had been set up. Anytime we would question him,
- 4:26Speaker 4: he would go back and ask us to look at Anna.
- 4:28Speaker 4: He would start talking about the divorce, how contentious it
- 4:31Speaker 4: was that he had been followed.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Police held Andresian on suspicion of child endangerment and child abduction,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but not for long. They had to cut him loose.
- 4:42Speaker 3: There just wasn't enough evidence to arrest him and to
- 4:45Speaker 3: try him. He's very happy to be out of custody
- 4:48Speaker 3: so that now he can focus his sole attention on
- 4:52Speaker 3: trying to find Soon. At this point, we're treating this
- 4:56Speaker 3: as a missing person investigation.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Where is Peaky Andressian? Is he dead or alive?
- 5:06Speaker 3: There's nothing specific that is venus either way. He just
- 5:11Speaker 3: I think he was eating none because he had a
- 5:14Speaker 3: warm linking.
- 5:16Speaker 1: A massive twenty four to seven search is launched. The
- 5:21Speaker 1: five year old disappeared after a visit with his father
- 5:24Speaker 1: to Disneyland.
- 5:25Speaker 3: He can't think of anyone that would harm him.
- 5:27Speaker 7: Would he harm him?
- 5:28Speaker 1: Absolutely not Arama's Andressian had no criminal record.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Never been arrested before, never even received a speeding violation
- 5:38Speaker 6: or any kind of ticket.
- 5:40Speaker 1: But police suspected Andresian did harm his child. Then, even
- 5:44Speaker 1: though they didn't have the evidence to arrest him, they
- 5:48Speaker 1: never let him out of their sight.
- 5:50Speaker 3: We what the detectives did was spend the next two
- 5:52Speaker 3: months just building a case piece by piece, watching his behavior,
- 5:57Speaker 3: talking with other people who knew him.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Thing was clear. While Peeky's mother worked day and night
- 6:03Speaker 1: to find her son, be.
- 6:06Speaker 8: Brave, honey, know that Mama and a lot of people
- 6:12Speaker 8: are working very hard to bring you home.
- 6:15Speaker 1: For on Dressian, finding his son was not a priority.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Partying in Vegas was.
- 6:22Speaker 3: There was even an occasion where he went skydiving.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Right from the beginning. Within a week used at the
- 6:27Speaker 4: Timol Arena watching out boxing match, from going there to
- 6:31Speaker 4: prostitutes to skydiving, de monic drugs he was using out there.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Everything was just surreal with his daily activities of someone
- 6:41Speaker 4: who had told investigators that his son just magically disappeared.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Suspicion grew deeper when cell phone records showed andresy and
- 6:51Speaker 1: turned off his phone just before the trip to Disneyland.
- 6:54Speaker 6: So no pings, no pings at all, And he planned this,
- 6:58Speaker 6: and we knew he planned.
- 6:59Speaker 1: This, Andresian had created a will days before the visit
- 7:04Speaker 1: with his son. But his older model BMW was an
- 7:08Speaker 1: investigative gold mine. What was found on the car and
- 7:12Speaker 1: in the car.
- 7:13Speaker 6: His car was found dust in gasoline. The interior was
- 7:16Speaker 6: fully dallased, the exterior was fully doused. There were two
- 7:20Speaker 6: gas containers inside the car, and he had a rag
- 7:24Speaker 6: sticking out of the gas cap.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Investigators found knives and an led lantern still lit.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Well. I told us whatever he did with his child,
- 7:34Speaker 6: he did under the cover of darkness.
- 7:36Speaker 1: There was a child sweatshirt with a white film on
- 7:39Speaker 1: the back which appeared to be vomit. And then a
- 7:43Speaker 1: startling and emotional discovery.
- 7:48Speaker 4: There was an ultrasound picture of Peaky directly on the
- 7:51Speaker 4: front dashboard under the radio, and we found that significant.
- 7:54Speaker 5: He was holding on to the first image he had
- 7:56Speaker 5: of Peaky in this world.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Right now, detectives are working under the theory that Andresian
- 8:03Speaker 1: murdered his child and had planned to kill himself, but
- 8:07Speaker 1: they had to prove it was DNA evidence used at all.
- 8:10Speaker 6: In this case, there was no DNA at all.
- 8:13Speaker 1: What about computer forensics.
- 8:14Speaker 6: We found a couple of computers and a huge concern
- 8:18Speaker 6: to us in the middle of this investigation was that
- 8:21Speaker 6: he was searching wilderness areas in Santa Barbara County.
- 8:25Speaker 1: It was a significant clue. Detectives believe the internet search
- 8:29Speaker 1: of secluded, heavily wooded areas two hours north was part
- 8:34Speaker 1: of a calculated plan.
- 8:36Speaker 6: He was searching for a place to bury or leave
- 8:39Speaker 6: his son's body.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Search teams scoured thirty miles of Durin and nearby Lake Kachumit.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Police gather multiple surveillance images recorded in the lake area,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and they're troubled by what they see, or in this case,
- 8:55Speaker 1: what they don't see.
- 8:56Speaker 4: All our surveillance's Nazzipeaky at all. We only see the
- 8:59Speaker 4: father entire time.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Investigators were certain Peaky was dead, and now they've developed
- 9:06Speaker 1: a timeline believing. Andressian leaves Disneyland with his son at
- 9:10Speaker 1: one am. It takes him five hours to arrive at
- 9:13Speaker 1: the Lake Kachuma area, where detectives say he murders his
- 9:17Speaker 1: child and disposes of him in a remote wooded area.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He reappears at eight am on a surveillance camera at
- 9:24Speaker 1: the lake and Dressian is alone. Then he drives to
- 9:27Speaker 1: South Pasadena, where police find him unconscious at six am
- 9:32Speaker 1: the next morning.
- 9:33Speaker 6: His intentions were to kill himself after he killed a child.
- 9:36Speaker 6: He was going to light that car on fire. He
- 9:38Speaker 6: was going to take as many prescription medications as he
- 9:40Speaker 6: can to the point where he's about to pass out
- 9:43Speaker 6: and ENLiGHT that car on fire.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So what happened. He passed out before he could light
- 9:46Speaker 1: it on fire.
- 9:47Speaker 6: He passed out.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Two months after a little Peaky Andressian went missing, police
- 9:53Speaker 1: arrest his belligerent and defiant father in Las Vegas on
- 9:57Speaker 1: a nobody murder jar.
- 9:59Speaker 6: He was on prescription medications, he wasn't clear headed. He
- 10:03Speaker 6: was hostile towards us. He called us animals. He said
- 10:08Speaker 6: something to the effect of We spent seven million dollars
- 10:11Speaker 6: to find his child, and we still.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Couldn't find him, taunting you for all your efforts he
- 10:15Speaker 5: was and so much for those plans to kill himself.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Andresian had bleached his hair and applied for a passport.
- 10:23Speaker 3: The detectives were concerned that Armad Senior might try to
- 10:27Speaker 3: flee to Iran or to Russia to avoid being extradited
- 10:31Speaker 3: back to the United States.
- 10:34Speaker 1: After two months of reckless self indulgence in Las Vegas,
- 10:39Speaker 1: Rama's Andressian was arrested for the murder of his son,
- 10:43Speaker 1: even though five year old Peaky's body was yet to
- 10:47Speaker 1: be found.
- 10:48Speaker 6: So when we did that stretch, how many mouths did
- 10:50Speaker 6: that make?
- 10:51Speaker 1: Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives Lou Aguilera and Mark
- 10:55Speaker 1: Boisford had worked the case tirelessly from the beginning were
- 11:00Speaker 1: hoping to see an end.
- 11:02Speaker 6: We interviewed him at the jail in Las Vegas, and
- 11:07Speaker 6: that interview once again went nowhere.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Once he was brought back to Ela County. His initial
- 11:12Speaker 4: plea at arrayment was not.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Guilty, Andresian gave up nothing about the location of his son.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Punishment for Peaky's family still clinging to a sliver of hope,
- 11:24Speaker 1: Benny believing perhaps Andresian's mother might be hiding the child.
- 11:28Speaker 6: All I thought was that he was safe, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 6: I thought nothing can happened.
- 11:31Speaker 3: To him, no matter how unrealistic it might be. I
- 11:35Speaker 3: think that victim's families will hold on to hope as
- 11:39Speaker 3: long as they possibly can. Just the way he behaved,
- 11:42Speaker 3: it was clear that he knew that nobody was going
- 11:46Speaker 3: to find his son alive.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It was time for the child's mother, Anna Estevez, to
- 11:52Speaker 1: face the crushing reality.
- 11:54Speaker 6: I was really honest with her. I told her, I
- 11:56Speaker 6: hope I'm wrong, but I think he killed your son.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You had to be honest.
- 12:01Speaker 6: I had to. I don't want to, and I didn't
- 12:04Speaker 6: want to give her a false sense of hope.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Anna was mired in grief, but displayed unwavering dignity, continuing
- 12:13Speaker 1: to search for her child.
- 12:15Speaker 9: My son knew me as as a strong woman, a
- 12:19Speaker 9: woman who didn't give up, and I need to be
- 12:22Speaker 9: that person for him. That's who he knew, and that's
- 12:25Speaker 9: who he would expect me to be, and that's who
- 12:29Speaker 9: I'm trying to.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Be with their suspect behind bars. Detectives are left pondering
- 12:36Speaker 1: just what kind of calculating chess game Andresian would force
- 12:40Speaker 1: them to play in order to get Peaky home. But
- 12:45Speaker 1: in this case came a shocking, almost surreal turn of events.
- 12:49Speaker 1: There would be no gamesmanship or resistance or AMA's on.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Dressian's defiance was spent.
- 12:56Speaker 6: He wanted to talk about the case. He wanted to
- 13:02Speaker 6: let me know where his son was buried and what happened.
- 13:09Speaker 1: There was no plea deal offered to him, no promises
- 13:12Speaker 1: of leniency, nothing, Andressian stunningly wanted to confess. Then what
- 13:18Speaker 1: he told cops was nothing short of evil.
- 13:22Speaker 3: The manner in which he killed him was particularly cruel.
- 13:25Speaker 3: His son was asleep in a car seat in the
- 13:28Speaker 3: back of the car. His father, who was supposed to
- 13:31Speaker 3: be protecting him, who's supposed to be taking care of him,
- 13:34Speaker 3: stops the car, gets out of the car, and then
- 13:37Speaker 3: uses Arma's Junior's sweatshirt to smother him. And not only that,
- 13:45Speaker 3: but once he had finished smothering his son and let go.
- 13:48Speaker 3: When he let go his son, his body was still twitching,
- 13:52Speaker 3: so Arma's Senior smothered him again, and.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Finally Andressian told sheriff's detect us where to find little Peaky.
- 14:02Speaker 6: The area was an observation point for the very dam.
- 14:05Speaker 6: It's called Vista Point. It's mountainesque.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Precious Peaky had been left alone in the cold, remote
- 14:13Speaker 1: elements for two long months. Was he buried at all?
- 14:18Speaker 6: He wasn't. He was laid out under a tree with
- 14:22Speaker 6: some shrubbery on top of him. The suspect had changed
- 14:25Speaker 6: him and put him in pajamas and rested him there
- 14:28Speaker 6: up against a tree.
- 14:31Speaker 1: A wretched, unthinkable murder of his own flesh and blood.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But why did he confess? The prosecution's case was strong,
- 14:39Speaker 1: but largely circumstantial, and no body murder cases are rare.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Was that to save the public the family from a
- 14:48Speaker 5: trial or did he do this for selfish reasons? What
- 14:50Speaker 5: was he facing?
- 14:52Speaker 3: Arma Senior and actually is one of the most selfish
- 14:55Speaker 3: people I've ever seen. It's our belief that he pled
- 14:58Speaker 3: guilty because he knew that if there was a trial,
- 15:01Speaker 3: all of the horrible details about his behavior would become
- 15:05Speaker 3: public in a trial, and he wanted to avoid that.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Cops knew Andressian's pride and image were more important than
- 15:13Speaker 1: his son or his freedom.
- 15:16Speaker 6: I think it's what we did for the months prior.
- 15:18Speaker 6: I think we broke him down. We made it a
- 15:21Speaker 6: point to have the media on board with everything we did,
- 15:25Speaker 6: and we made it a point to exploit him for
- 15:28Speaker 6: what we knew he was. He didn't like being in
- 15:32Speaker 6: the suicide vest that you see him wearing in court.
- 15:35Speaker 6: It's demeaning to him and he hates it. And he
- 15:39Speaker 6: asked me, what can you do to give me out?
- 15:42Speaker 6: Give me out of this suicide watch. I don't want
- 15:44Speaker 6: to be wearing this. This is embarrassing.
- 15:47Speaker 1: If Andresian thought pleading guilty would spare him further public humiliation,
- 15:52Speaker 1: he was sorely mistaken.
- 15:55Speaker 3: My family has lost a piece of themselves. I have
- 15:58Speaker 3: lost a piece of myself.
- 16:00Speaker 7: Today is my birthday, my first birthday in the last
- 16:04Speaker 7: five years without my baby cousin.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It's sentencing day, and Peaky's family floods the courtroom with raw,
- 16:13Speaker 1: heart crushing emotion.
- 16:15Speaker 10: For Aramah's undressing on senior. I pity you. You are
- 16:22Speaker 10: a failure as a father, you are a failure as
- 16:25Speaker 10: a man, and you are a failure as a human being.
- 16:30Speaker 10: I hope you relived the image of you murdering my
- 16:34Speaker 10: baby every day for the rest of your insignificant life.
- 16:39Speaker 10: And when you die, may your dark soul burn in
- 16:43Speaker 10: the eternal flames of health. For I have no doubt
- 16:46Speaker 10: that justice will be served on you, both in this
- 16:49Speaker 10: life and the next.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Then the words no one expected to hear.
- 16:54Speaker 7: My Fialogue committed brief statement health.
- 16:57Speaker 1: The riveted court room was eager to hear what this
- 17:00Speaker 1: child killer had to say, but he changed his mind.
- 17:05Speaker 7: Mister Jan, you do have the right to make a statement.
- 17:07Speaker 7: That statement must be under oath and subject to cross examination.
- 17:12Speaker 7: Do you wish to make a statement or to give
- 17:15Speaker 7: any testimony or not? Nope?
- 17:18Speaker 1: Okay. Instead, Onresian's attorney tried to show good faith on
- 17:24Speaker 1: his client's part.
- 17:26Speaker 8: I can't think of a situation that I know of
- 17:29Speaker 8: or been in in twenty years where a plea of.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Guilty to first degree murder.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Happened so quickly.
- 17:36Speaker 6: That was my client's wishes from the very beginning.
- 17:40Speaker 1: A comment that seemed absurd to family members and cops.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Considering the two months on Dresian partied in Vegas while
- 17:48Speaker 1: his son's body rotted away. Nothing on Dressian or his
- 17:53Speaker 1: lawyer had to say would have made any difference. The
- 17:56Speaker 1: sentence was set in stone.
- 17:58Speaker 7: As to count one violation of Pinocots Section one eighty seven,
- 18:04Speaker 7: a murder in the first degree premeditated murder. The defendant
- 18:10Speaker 7: is to be sentenced to state prison for twenty five to.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Life, Andresian received the maximum sentence for a non death
- 18:18Speaker 1: penalty first degree murder case.
- 18:21Speaker 3: There just wasn't enough evidence to prove the special circumstance
- 18:25Speaker 3: that would have subjected him to the death penalty. Believe me,
- 18:28Speaker 3: if there was, we would have filed it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: When it was finally over, Anna Savez graciously paid tribute
- 18:36Speaker 1: to twenty seven different police agencies who dedicated themselves to
- 18:40Speaker 1: a very difficult case, especially these two LA Sheriff's homicide
- 18:45Speaker 1: detectives who wouldn't sleep until justice was done.
- 18:49Speaker 8: I've said it before and I'll say it again. You
- 18:53Speaker 8: are my heroes, and I mean eternally indebted to you both.
- 18:59Speaker 1: But there's enough bitter element to this horrific story. Anna
- 19:03Speaker 1: had fought child Services like a warrior for sole custody
- 19:06Speaker 1: of her child. She so feared on Dresian's ill intentions
- 19:10Speaker 1: that she had a dash camera installed in her car
- 19:13Speaker 1: so there was a record of every interaction. In the end,
- 19:17Speaker 1: her fight for full custody was denied, Anna points a
- 19:20Speaker 1: harsh finger at social workers.
- 19:23Speaker 8: I believe you are partially responsible for my son's death.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Anna's anger towards child services workers and the juvenile justice
- 19:30Speaker 1: system was so deep she delivered a public bashing to
- 19:33Speaker 1: those she was forced to deal with.
- 19:36Speaker 8: How dare you say that once a case is closed,
- 19:39Speaker 8: you do not reopen it, even after being asked repeatedly
- 19:43Speaker 8: to further investigate allegations. How dare you say that Arama's
- 19:47Speaker 8: Senior kicking my son on his bottom and pinching his
- 19:51Speaker 8: cheeks and yelling in his face that he was a
- 19:55Speaker 8: bad voy was not enough to change custody simply bad parenting.
- 20:02Speaker 1: As for Andresian, the sole purpose for his despicable actions
- 20:08Speaker 1: was pure revenge.
