- 0:10Speaker 1: God bless football, Mikey a.
- 0:14Speaker 2: God blessed football, Taylor, God Blessed.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Football, stwo gots, thank you Taylor. Preseason Week two got
- 0:21Speaker 3: underway last night. The rest of the game's coming up
- 0:24Speaker 3: this weekend.
- 0:24Speaker 4: We are inching.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Closer to the start of both college football and the NFL.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We have some more mike les today. I'm excited for that.
- 0:31Speaker 3: We have a blind ranking towards the end of this episode.
- 0:35Speaker 3: But I want to start with a topic that's interesting
- 0:38Speaker 3: to Taylor and to me as well, because you have
- 0:40Speaker 3: a bunch of fifth year guys. The NCAA now has
- 0:44Speaker 3: a new ruling in place where all college athletes Taylor,
- 0:47Speaker 3: am I right, are going to have five years. That's it.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Like there's no more red shirting, none of that. It's
- 0:52Speaker 3: just you have five years to play out your college career.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I believe? So?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Okay?
- 0:57Speaker 3: And so now you have a bunch of guys who
- 1:00Speaker 3: declared themselves for the NFL before that rule was put
- 1:03Speaker 3: in place, and if they're not making their teams or
- 1:06Speaker 3: if they're not liking how it's going, I'm assuming they
- 1:09Speaker 3: can go back to college right for their fifth year.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Yeah, So a federal judge ruled that D one athletes
- 1:15Speaker 5: who began college in twenty twenty two to twenty twenty
- 1:18Speaker 5: three and played four straight seasons could return for a
- 1:21Speaker 5: fifth season this upcoming season right now. A federal appeals
- 1:26Speaker 5: court today gave the NCAA a victory by temporarily blocking
- 1:32Speaker 5: that ruling that would have allowed thousands of college athletes
- 1:35Speaker 5: an extra year of eligibility. But this is such a
- 1:39Speaker 5: mess of a situation.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Wait a second, So the ruling was put in place,
- 1:42Speaker 3: and now it's been blocked.
- 1:43Speaker 5: It's been blocked a temporary block.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Okay, so now fifth years can't go back for a
- 1:48Speaker 1: fifth year.
- 1:49Speaker 5: But it's such a.
- 1:52Speaker 3: By the way, Rachel class of twenty two, just so
- 1:54Speaker 3: we're clear, my daughter's.
- 1:56Speaker 1: College looked she could have two years left. She read
- 1:58Speaker 1: shirted one year.
- 1:59Speaker 5: I mean, it is such a mess because you have
- 2:02Speaker 5: players theoretically that are playing in the preseason right now,
- 2:07Speaker 5: that have signed NFL contracts that are now having the
- 2:10Speaker 5: option to come back for the college football season, which
- 2:14Speaker 5: I would like to remind everybody starts in less than
- 2:16Speaker 5: eight days. And one of the players that was granted
- 2:22Speaker 5: a fifth year in college football is a Buccaneers edge
- 2:25Speaker 5: rusher Jack Pieburn. He had two sacks in Tampa Bay's
- 2:30Speaker 5: last preseason game. These are guys that could come back
- 2:33Speaker 5: to the college level and impact a team's ability to
- 2:37Speaker 5: win a national championship or not.
- 2:38Speaker 3: So keep in mind we're talking about guys who have
- 2:41Speaker 3: played four straight years. They went to the NFL because
- 2:44Speaker 3: they didn't have an option. Now they have options.
- 2:49Speaker 6: I love the idea of these colleges scouting preseason games
- 2:52Speaker 6: and be like, oh, let's go get him, Let's go
- 2:55Speaker 6: get that guy from the NFL and bring him on
- 2:57Speaker 6: to our team.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yes, Signetty's doing it right now.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Yeah. Blaine Kippen's idea of a recruiting trip right now
- 3:03Speaker 5: is going to the Jets preseason game tonight and seeing
- 3:06Speaker 5: if you could get any edge rushers.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Taylor, I got to pitch something to you because I
- 3:12Speaker 6: think you could be the perfect guy for this. You
- 3:15Speaker 6: should be the anti mel kiper and do a whole
- 3:18Speaker 6: thing on grading guys going from the NFL back to college.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yes, all the fifth years, all the guys who played
- 3:24Speaker 3: four consecutive years in college had to go to the
- 3:27Speaker 3: NFL draft Tayler's big board, right if we were drafting
- 3:33Speaker 3: those guys back into college like a mock draft.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I love this idea. Can we put it together?
- 3:38Speaker 5: Believe, it's hard to even project what they would do
- 3:41Speaker 5: at the college level if they go back, because theoretically, again,
- 3:46Speaker 5: all these college teams have their NIL budgets in place
- 3:50Speaker 5: for this season. So if you're telling me one of
- 3:52Speaker 5: the best players is now granted an extra year of eligibility,
- 3:57Speaker 5: where are schools finding this money? They'll find it.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We're back to brown paper bags.
- 4:03Speaker 5: So I don't have any doubts. Yes, I don't have
- 4:06Speaker 5: any doubt if Kirby Smart can all of a sudden
- 4:08Speaker 5: fine two million dollars for let's say, an offensive tackle
- 4:13Speaker 5: to bring to Georgia. It is just crazy that we
- 4:16Speaker 5: are less than two weeks away from the official start
- 4:19Speaker 5: of college football Week one, and teams might have the
- 4:23Speaker 5: ability to make some game changing acquisitions.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Still, no one is thinking this through. So what happens
- 4:29Speaker 3: to the draft rights? So, like, let's say the guy
- 4:31Speaker 3: in the Buccaneers decides, Hey, you know what, I'm gonna
- 4:34Speaker 3: go back. I'm gonna go play a Texas this year
- 4:37Speaker 3: more money. Do the Bucks still retain his draft rights?
- 4:40Speaker 5: So if he does go back to college, Tampa Bay
- 4:42Speaker 5: would retain his NFL rights.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Huh.
- 4:44Speaker 5: So if you're Tampa Bay, it's it's basically a win
- 4:48Speaker 5: win because this guy, Jack Pieburn, is probably a practice
- 4:51Speaker 5: squad guy at best.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yes, before you finish this, Dan and I would say
- 4:55Speaker 3: forever that college football it's a minor league system, a
- 4:57Speaker 3: free minor league system for the NFL.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Never has it been more truth and it is right now.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Think about this.
- 5:04Speaker 3: You can send them back down to college and then
- 5:07Speaker 3: when they're ready to play again in the big leagues,
- 5:09Speaker 3: they come back up and they're still on your team.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 5:12Speaker 5: And with this instance, looking at this one with the
- 5:16Speaker 5: Tampa Bay Bucks and Jack Pieburn, if he stays with
- 5:20Speaker 5: the Bucks, he doesn't go back to college, Okay, the
- 5:22Speaker 5: Bucks could get to get to use him on their
- 5:24Speaker 5: practice squad. He could potentially make their fifty three man roster.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Let's say he goes back to LSU and he blows
- 5:31Speaker 5: up and all of a sudden, the mel Kipers and
- 5:33Speaker 5: the Todd mcshay's of the world are giving him a
- 5:35Speaker 5: second or third round grade. Well, the Bucks signed him
- 5:38Speaker 5: as an undrafted free agent and they and they retain
- 5:40Speaker 5: his rights.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yes, stinks. For Pieburn, but great for the Bucks. I
- 5:43Speaker 3: mean he holds out or somehow call them a rookie,
- 5:51Speaker 3: or somehow figures out a way to sue the NCAA
- 5:54Speaker 3: to get a sixth year.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I mean, what are we doing here?
- 6:00Speaker 3: So that's it's weird because I thought the deal was
- 6:03Speaker 3: once you played, once you took a paycheck from a
- 6:05Speaker 3: professional team, you can't go back to college.
- 6:09Speaker 1: But you're saying a judge is overruling that.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yeah, And it kind of started in college basketball where
- 6:15Speaker 5: Nate Oates was doing G league recruitment, where Nate Oates
- 6:18Speaker 5: was looking at his Alabama basketball team saying, oh, this
- 6:21Speaker 5: this team is not as good as I thought it was.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Let me let me try to find some loopholes here.
- 6:25Speaker 5: And he's going to the G league and finding guys
- 6:28Speaker 5: that never played in the NBA but could potentially be
- 6:30Speaker 5: granted an extra year of eligibility, and he was bringing
- 6:33Speaker 5: them in. And that situation was crazy because it sounded
- 6:37Speaker 5: like they just went to a judge in Alabama who
- 6:40Speaker 5: was an Alabama lum and was like, hey, can you
- 6:43Speaker 5: grant this guy an extra year of eligibility? And the
- 6:45Speaker 5: judge was like, roll tide.
- 6:47Speaker 3: He's eligible, and everybody was like, wait, it's like the
- 6:52Speaker 3: soresby judge.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I mean, you just gotta find the judge and put
- 6:55Speaker 1: him in your pocket.
- 6:57Speaker 5: And it's that's that's what everybody's saying, Like, you could
- 7:00Speaker 5: find a judge that gives you a ruling for whatever
- 7:03Speaker 5: you want. I do think there should be a rule.
- 7:05Speaker 5: This has been something I've thought for a while. A
- 7:08Speaker 5: college basketball team and a college football team could get
- 7:11Speaker 5: one spot on their roster for somebody who's allowed to
- 7:14Speaker 5: never graduate. Wow, Like imagine North Carolina Tyler Hansborough. Tyler
- 7:21Speaker 5: Hansburo is probably the best case example of this. If
- 7:23Speaker 5: Tyler Hansborough was still playing center for North Carolina, that
- 7:25Speaker 5: would kind of be electric.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Wait, so he gets a permanent spot, but he could
- 7:29Speaker 3: still play. He can play forever.
- 7:30Speaker 5: Yes, he can only play college basketball.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Oh so he can never go to the pro.
- 7:33Speaker 5: You can never go to This is reserved for the
- 7:37Speaker 5: spot where the guy. We've had this middle ground spot
- 7:41Speaker 5: where you look at a guy and you're like dominating college.
- 7:44Speaker 5: This is not going to translate to the NFL. Jim
- 7:46Speaker 5: Erfourdette at BYU, Tim Tebow at Florida. Now imagine if
- 7:50Speaker 5: BYU Basketball and Florida football each use their spots respectively
- 7:54Speaker 5: to keep Jimmer and Tim Tebow in college forever.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Right, But good luck convincing Tebow he's not going to
- 7:59Speaker 3: be good in the NF Like I'm not. I understand
- 8:01Speaker 3: what it is you're saying, and perhaps that's that would
- 8:04Speaker 3: have been the right decision. Like I'm now I'm thinking
- 8:06Speaker 3: about it. Johnny Manzel would have stayed at Texas A
- 8:08Speaker 3: and M forever. Ever, Yes, if these rules were in place, Yes.
- 8:13Speaker 5: And now you have nil where It's like if Texas
- 8:16Speaker 5: A and M wants to use their spot for Johnny
- 8:18Speaker 5: football and pay him more than an NFL contract would
- 8:21Speaker 5: pay him. Right, I kind of like this idea, I know.
- 8:23Speaker 1: But he stays in college forever.
- 8:25Speaker 3: At what age do you get to give a new
- 8:27Speaker 3: spot away because he can't play quarterback at the age
- 8:30Speaker 3: of fifty?
- 8:30Speaker 2: I mean, I've been I've been thinking about this.
- 8:33Speaker 6: It's when the guy either decides that he is going
- 8:36Speaker 6: to the pros and then when he goes to the pros,
- 8:39Speaker 6: you're gone, or when he retires from the sport altogether.
- 8:42Speaker 6: Until then, that person, you can't change him, You can't
- 8:45Speaker 6: force him out like that is your guy.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Wow, you can't even force him out.
- 8:49Speaker 1: No, you can't.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Yeah, listen, I mean you can't. You can't declare him
- 8:53Speaker 6: not being it. You can put pressure on him, but
- 8:56Speaker 6: if he doesn't declare he's out, that's it.
- 8:58Speaker 3: That's a big commitment though, I mean, what if someone
- 9:00Speaker 3: better comes along next year?
- 9:02Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Your problem, right, That's that's why the Michael Lombardies of
- 9:07Speaker 6: the world make all that money.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Does Youbert Davis still have a job if Psycho T
- 9:14Speaker 3: is still at North Carolina?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Huh.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Roy Williams probably never retired.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Because he's got Psycho T forever the paint.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Ridiculous.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Doug Flutie would still be at BC.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Is Greg McElroy still slinging it for Alabama?
- 9:32Speaker 1: No doubt? A J M maybe all of all what
- 9:38Speaker 1: we criticized the most when we got rid of.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Yeah, But then in this situation, imagine a J. Mccarrn
- 9:44Speaker 5: is is your lifetime Alabama quarterback? They use the lifetime
- 9:48Speaker 5: spot on him. Then all of a sudden, the Bryce
- 9:51Speaker 5: Young's of the world, the mac jones is of the world,
- 9:53Speaker 5: the Tours of the world.
- 9:54Speaker 4: They don't exist.
- 9:54Speaker 5: They have to find other schools and this is now
- 9:57Speaker 5: you're now you're funneling more talent to other I think
- 10:00Speaker 5: I just solved NCAA rules.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, but unless the current quarterback says to to a hey,
- 10:04Speaker 3: I'm good with a year off. Come here, let's go,
- 10:06Speaker 3: you know, like meeting. No, Well, what do you mean
- 10:10Speaker 3: he has to start?
- 10:11Speaker 6: Can't if AJ mccarran's holding that position, So I can't
- 10:16Speaker 6: go until he goes to the until Oh listen, I
- 10:18Speaker 6: don't know about this.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So what if AJ mccaron says to a seventeen year
- 10:22Speaker 3: old big time recruit, Hey, I'm getting up there in age.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I know this.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Position's mine and it's mine forever. Uh, but I am
- 10:28Speaker 3: going to give you this position. You want to be
- 10:29Speaker 3: the Alabama quarterback, I will grant you this position for
- 10:32Speaker 3: a year.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It's yours, have it, right? I mean, what are we
- 10:36Speaker 1: doing here?
- 10:37Speaker 2: I think it's a good solving problems.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I like Mikey's idea of taking guys once they're done
- 10:41Speaker 3: with their professional careers and give him him one final
- 10:44Speaker 3: crack in college.
- 10:45Speaker 5: I mean, so in this case, can the can the
- 10:49Speaker 5: can the player come back from the pros? Or this
- 10:52Speaker 5: player could never have declared because now I'm thinking like
- 10:56Speaker 5: the Colts. When the Colts draft Trent Richardson, and Richardson's
- 11:00Speaker 5: a bus at the running back position. He was a
- 11:03Speaker 5: bus because his game just didn't translate to the NFL level.
- 11:06Speaker 5: If he's if he has a bus career in the
- 11:09Speaker 5: NFL and now he's looking at I could just go
- 11:11Speaker 5: back to Alabama if Alabama wants to use their lifetime
- 11:14Speaker 5: spot on me, and then I'll just rush for two
- 11:16Speaker 5: thousand yards every year.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Yeah, but you're also assuming that Alabama has that lifetime
- 11:21Speaker 6: spot to give.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Right, Well, let's do this. You would have declared somebody else.
- 11:25Speaker 3: By that right if you let them play out their
- 11:27Speaker 3: careers and then go back to the school to take
- 11:29Speaker 3: that permanent roster spot.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So let's try it this way.
- 11:32Speaker 3: If Julio Jones played for Alabama this year, how many
- 11:38Speaker 3: catches would he be the best wide receiver in college
- 11:40Speaker 3: in college football?
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 11:41Speaker 1: How old is Julio Jones Not old enough?
- 11:47Speaker 5: Not old enough where a grown man going to back
- 11:49Speaker 5: to college football wouldn't dominate. Julio Jones is thirty seven.
- 11:53Speaker 3: So you're saying a thirty seven year old Julio Jones
- 11:56Speaker 3: today would dominate college football.
- 11:58Speaker 5: I think anybody of of that status would dominate college football.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Like DeAndre Hopkins goes back to Clemson. DeAndre Hopkins is
- 12:05Speaker 5: dominating college football.
- 12:07Speaker 3: So in a year or two, I can't say that
- 12:09Speaker 3: word today. Theoretically, thank you, Matthew Stafford. I could have
- 12:14Speaker 3: tried it again. Matthew Stafford in a year or two
- 12:18Speaker 3: could head back to Athens.
- 12:20Speaker 5: This is where we need some restrictions to the rule
- 12:23Speaker 5: because I don't I don't want to see Matthew like
- 12:28Speaker 5: letter of the law the way I want my rule officiated.
- 12:32Speaker 5: I don't want Matthew Stafford going back to college after
- 12:35Speaker 5: such a long career. This is more like close your
- 12:37Speaker 5: eyes and imagine this for a second. College basketball march madness.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Gonzaga runs out the tunnel. Here comes out of Morse.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Oh wow, he should have stayed.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That's who the rules for.
- 12:50Speaker 2: No, you're saying it's not Aaron Donald returning to Pittsburgh.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Now, no, no, no, that would be fun. I mean
- 12:57Speaker 3: Mendoza returns to Indiana.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Wait, man, does it could have stayed?
- 13:04Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 13:04Speaker 5: Theoretically, uh, thank you.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I'm trying to think of the NCAA guy, who's the
- 13:13Speaker 3: Carolina basketball player? You would most want right now just
- 13:16Speaker 3: to come back and be fill that permanent roster spot.
- 13:19Speaker 5: I think you have to stabilize the guard position, so
- 13:21Speaker 5: I would probably go with somebody like Marcus Page. Bring
- 13:24Speaker 5: back Marcus Page. Who loses the twenty six national team
- 13:27Speaker 5: national Championship where right now? For me, if I could
- 13:30Speaker 5: give anybody a title from any sports teams I ever watched,
- 13:34Speaker 5: it would be Marcus Page.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Do you guys think Michael Jordan would still dominate college basketball?
- 13:40Speaker 5: No, now you've got too far it. I don't think
- 13:44Speaker 5: Michael Jordan has enough left in the tank to get
- 13:46Speaker 5: up and down the court.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And Mike he's thinking about it. I gotta tell you,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I mean.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I just I just don't know how I can say no.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I mean it's probably no, but I can't say it.
- 13:55Speaker 3: How many sacks does Lawrence Taylor have for North Carolina
- 13:59Speaker 3: this year? He's playing linebacker?
- 14:04Speaker 2: You think Belichick would know how to use him?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Again, you're already out of and he forgot I know again. Oh,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I like this.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I like a permanent I don't like what the fifth
- 14:17Speaker 3: year is doing. I don't like what the NCAA is
- 14:19Speaker 3: doing because they're flying by the seat of their pants.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But I do like the idea of having a.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Permanent roster spot for somebody. Andrew Luck can go back
- 14:28Speaker 3: to Stanton. Well, he did go back to Stanford. He
- 14:30Speaker 3: doesn't want to play football anymore, that's the problem. He
- 14:32Speaker 3: just doesn't have the love of the Can you imagine
- 14:34Speaker 3: Andrew Luck is the quarterback of Stanford this year. Andrew
- 14:36Speaker 3: Luck can't be more than thirty years of age, right,
- 14:39Speaker 3: thirty one? Thirty five tops.
- 14:41Speaker 5: He's got to be older than.
- 14:42Speaker 1: He would dominate college football, is my point?
- 14:44Speaker 4: Correct?
- 14:44Speaker 5: Sure Andrew Luck was older than me. Yeah, he's thirty six.
- 14:47Speaker 4: He's an old thirty six man.
- 14:49Speaker 3: She's the oldest of thirty six. He is the oldest
- 14:52Speaker 3: of thirty six? Is God bless? Football is brought to

- 16:45Speaker 1: All right, let's get uh, let's get to some more
- 16:47Speaker 1: Mike Lees.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yere NFL in college football season right around the corner.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Uh, Mike, take it away.
- 16:54Speaker 2: All right, we'll start with more Mike Les. Let's start here.
- 16:57Speaker 4: We're stuck on this topic.
- 17:02Speaker 2: More Mike Lee. Yeah, to be a one and done
- 17:05Speaker 2: head coach Todd Monkin or Joe Brady.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Like, I'm just thinking, like Mitchell Trubisky, do you think
- 17:11Speaker 3: I don't know where he is right now, but I
- 17:13Speaker 3: think he probably would still dominate college football.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He's with the Titans, so he's the.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Third stringer with the Titans, or he could have the
- 17:19Speaker 3: permanent roster spot for Carolina.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Ever dominate college football.
- 17:22Speaker 5: He was the number one pick, No, he was the
- 17:25Speaker 5: number three three. They did trade up to get him.
- 17:28Speaker 5: But I think Mitch Trubisky is almost too good of
- 17:32Speaker 5: an example in this one.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Okay, all right, sorry, he.
- 17:35Speaker 5: Was a pro bowler in the NFL. People forget that.
- 17:38Speaker 4: It doesn't matter.
- 17:38Speaker 1: There's a rule here when we start more, Mike Lee's
- 17:40Speaker 1: we can't go away from it.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I broke the rule. I am sorry about that. Mike
- 17:43Speaker 3: take it away, asked that question again. I didn't listen.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I was thinking about Mitchell Trubisky.
- 17:46Speaker 2: For some reason, You're the one that transitioned to this.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I wasn't ready to.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I said, I'm sorry. I apologize to you.
- 17:54Speaker 2: It's not good enough. More Mike Lee to be a
- 17:56Speaker 2: one and done head coach in the NFL.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Todd Monkin or Joe Brady, This is easy. Joe Brady's
- 18:04Speaker 6: got the expectations, That's.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Why I throw it.
- 18:07Speaker 3: But he also has the friendship with Josh Allen, So
- 18:10Speaker 3: I mean Josh Allen chose him to be the head coach.
- 18:12Speaker 5: This is easy for me because I don't see a
- 18:15Speaker 5: scenario where the Bills failed this season. So I think
- 18:20Speaker 5: the Bills are more set up for success. Whereas, if
- 18:23Speaker 5: you're Todd Mounkin, you're looking at a quarterback situation of
- 18:26Speaker 5: Deshaun Watson or should or Sanders. There's a scenario where
- 18:30Speaker 5: the Browns are so bad this year they're in position
- 18:33Speaker 5: next year to draft a quarterback, and the Browns are
- 18:36Speaker 5: looking at it like, let's let's go out and get
- 18:38Speaker 5: a coach who pairs better with this quarterback we're drafting.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Let's reset again.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yes, I will tell you Todd Monket is very friendly
- 18:45Speaker 3: with Peyton Manning, just for whatever it's worth.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Wow, is that the move before the move?
- 18:50Speaker 1: Maybe it was the move before the move.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, to put a coach in place to make sure
- 18:55Speaker 3: Arch is comfortable in the event that he has to.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Go to Cleveland.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I'm gonna say Mounken that as well. Lock.
- 19:02Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, the thing about Joe Brady and Josh Allen
- 19:05Speaker 6: being friends, we're good friends until the blame starts headed
- 19:09Speaker 6: my way.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Then I got to push it back.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what Josh does.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I agree, all right.
- 19:15Speaker 6: More likely to repeat as division winners are Denver Broncos
- 19:20Speaker 6: or the Chicago Bears.
- 19:23Speaker 5: Wow, that's actually really.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Good, well tough divisions. He's good at the game. He
- 19:26Speaker 3: knows how to play it.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Denver Broncos because you
- 19:35Speaker 5: have Patrick Mahomes coming back from an injury. Maybe that
- 19:37Speaker 5: gets a little bit delayed. You have the Chargers offensive
- 19:41Speaker 5: line already reshuffling, giving Justin Herbert that built in excuse.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Denver should have a great defense. They should have an
- 19:48Speaker 5: offense getting ready to take the next step. The NFC
- 19:51Speaker 5: North is Murderer's row right now, we think, right, I
- 19:56Speaker 5: feel fairly confident that the Lions are going to be
- 19:58Speaker 5: a lot better with a last place schedule. The Bears
- 20:00Speaker 5: should still be a pretty good team. And then you
- 20:03Speaker 5: have the Green Bay Packers, who are one of the
- 20:06Speaker 5: most sustain always franchises.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Yeah, always always there.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So it's the Broncos or the Bears.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I think the Bears are winning that division, so I
- 20:17Speaker 3: would say the Broncos.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, no, so you would say the Bears.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I would say the Bears. I'm sorry, Yes, I would
- 20:22Speaker 1: say the Bears.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Bears winning that division, not gonna win the Super Bowl
- 20:26Speaker 3: this year, but eventually, in about a year or two, Kayleb.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Williams will be the greatest quarterback we've ever seen. Remember that?
- 20:33Speaker 2: Okay, more likely to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes, right, Aaron Donald.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I mean, either of those guys want that in board?
- 20:48Speaker 4: They don't.
- 20:49Speaker 5: I mean they're probably the two favorites, though for it.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I'm not sure Aaron Donald is listed yet.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It'd beyond for Mahomes to have a Comeback Player of
- 20:58Speaker 3: the Year, but it's.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Because of a So I understand it.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Feels like Mahomes' award before the season even starts, Aaron
- 21:08Speaker 3: Donald's coming back from retirement. Mahomes is coming back from
- 21:11Speaker 3: an injury. Aaron Donalds had three or four years off.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Mahomes hasn't. How is Aaron Donald even like, how does
- 21:18Speaker 3: he qualify for comeback Player of the Year.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He've been sitting on his ass for three years doing nothing.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Isn't that what the definition of a comback I was
- 21:26Speaker 6: gonna say, isn't that exactly as opposed to Patrick Mahomes
- 21:29Speaker 6: who missed what five games.
- 21:31Speaker 2: At the end of last year.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Well, to me, the comeback Player of the Year is
- 21:34Speaker 3: a guy who got injured the year before, had to
- 21:37Speaker 3: go through all the rehab to get himself healthy, and
- 21:39Speaker 3: then came back and showed flashes, if not showed his
- 21:42Speaker 3: entire former self.
- 21:43Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:44Speaker 5: So I'm looking at the odds right now for Comeback
- 21:46Speaker 5: Player of the Year. Yeah, it's Patrick Mahomes award to lose.
- 21:49Speaker 5: He's plus one to eighty five. I think Mikey is right.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Where as long as Patrick Mahomes plays a good amount
- 21:56Speaker 5: and puts up a normal Patrick Mahomes season, He's going
- 21:59Speaker 5: to win this award. Second place is second best odds
- 22:03Speaker 5: right now Jaden Daniels plus four fifty, Kyler Murray plus
- 22:06Speaker 5: six hundred, Aaron Donald is listed at plus nine hundred,
- 22:09Speaker 5: and then the next two options are Malik Neighbors and
- 22:12Speaker 5: Daniel Jones. At plus fourteen hundred.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Mahomes could be the rare comeback Player of the Year
- 22:17Speaker 3: ends winner of the MVP.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I mean, how about that?
- 22:22Speaker 5: The one person?
- 22:23Speaker 3: So what is Kyler Murray coming back from Arizona being terrible? Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 3: he's on Arizona right No, yeah, the one I'm rooting
- 22:31Speaker 3: for him.
- 22:31Speaker 5: I am the one ticket. I think you could go
- 22:33Speaker 5: ahead and rip up right now. Every time we've had
- 22:36Speaker 5: Mark Achmann on and he talks about the Atlanta Falcons
- 22:38Speaker 5: and the Miami Dolphins, he mentions that he has a
- 22:41Speaker 5: flyer on TUA to win Comeback Player of the Year.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I don't I don't see any any world like Doctor
- 22:49Speaker 5: Strange in the in the Marvel Cinematic universe could see
- 22:52Speaker 5: four thousand possible outcomes.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Fourteen million.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't see fourteen million outcomes this season in
- 23:00Speaker 5: the NFL I played them all out. There isn't one
- 23:03Speaker 5: outcome where two wins Comeback Player of the Year two,
- 23:05Speaker 5: I think to his career is done.
- 23:08Speaker 1: You played all the possible outcomes.
- 23:11Speaker 5: There was one alternate universe where Garrett Wilson wins it.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Okay, but it never spat back to Is that what
- 23:18Speaker 1: you're saying.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Anthony Richardson's got a better better case right now.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Than to me. That's the definition of comeback Player of
- 23:24Speaker 1: the Year.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Like, to come back, you have to go somewhere, and
- 23:28Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes hasn't gone anywhere.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Are He's still Patrick Mahomes?
- 23:32Speaker 5: What are we doing here?
- 23:33Speaker 4: I don't know why I'm getting so angry about that.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I want I want to Yeah, I want to be
- 23:37Speaker 2: a moral high ground.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 5: I once lost the comeback Player of the Year bet.
- 23:41Speaker 5: When I bet to mar Hamlin to come back or
- 23:44Speaker 5: be the comeback players.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Everyone thought it was a lot.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Yeah, they gave it.
- 23:46Speaker 1: They gave it a Joe Flacco Hamilon was robbed me.
- 23:50Speaker 5: He came back from death.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Would Flacco come back from hanging out with his Browns
- 23:56Speaker 3: hanging out with his kids on the weekend?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Well the Browns? Yes, all right, Do we have another more,
- 24:02Speaker 1: Mike Lely, you want one more? One more?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yes, all right, college football more Mikely to win the
- 24:09Speaker 2: ACC Louisville.
- 24:12Speaker 7: Clemson, Wow, neither, but more like obviously obviously there's one
- 24:22Speaker 7: or two teams that.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Would probably be better odds.
- 24:26Speaker 4: To win them.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Who's coaching Louisville right now? Bro, he's been there for
- 24:31Speaker 3: a while. Dabo has been at Clemson for a while.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Should have been fired three or four years ago. I'm
- 24:37Speaker 3: just I didn't know who the.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Louisville coach was. Mike, that's all. That's why it was.
- 24:40Speaker 4: And it's a big deal that it's Brom because Brom.
- 24:43Speaker 4: You know, yeah, Brom, you have a chance.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Obviously we know Miami s m U.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why Carolina why we have a little.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Fun with it that conversation.
- 24:56Speaker 5: But if you had LT though, the only time Caroline
- 24:58Speaker 5: is in the conversation is to let them know that
- 25:00Speaker 5: they're not in the conversation.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I think I feel like Clemson is the obvious answer
- 25:05Speaker 1: to this.
- 25:06Speaker 5: My gut says I would go with Stu Yachts, But
- 25:10Speaker 5: there is a part of me who's interested in seeing
- 25:13Speaker 5: what this Louisville offense looks like with the transfer quarterback
- 25:17Speaker 5: from Ohio State because Isaac Brown is one of the
- 25:20Speaker 5: best running backs in the country, So it feels like
- 25:23Speaker 5: you have something more reliable to lean on if you're
- 25:25Speaker 5: a Louisville But push comes to shove, I would stick
- 25:30Speaker 5: with Clemson.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I think just because he's getting athletes, right, you know
- 25:32Speaker 3: there's athletes at Clemson.
- 25:34Speaker 4: It's can Dabo coach.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Him to an ACC championship And in the last few
- 25:39Speaker 3: years the answer has been no.
- 25:40Speaker 1: But I would take Clemson just based on talent.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Yeah, they have the culture, they have the home field atmosphere,
- 25:45Speaker 5: and then it's just can Dabbo get back to his
- 25:48Speaker 5: winning ways? And like Dabo, once you've won a national
- 25:51Speaker 5: championship in college football, there's always the potential for you
- 25:55Speaker 5: to return to that. Like you don't just forget how
- 25:58Speaker 5: to coach all of.
- 25:58Speaker 1: A sudden, it seems like Dabbo has.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Though Dabbo just went with this like anti transfer portal stance,
- 26:08Speaker 5: which he's since kind of walked back on and been like,
- 26:11Speaker 5: look at Kirk Signetti dominating college football right now just
- 26:14Speaker 5: because he's going to the transfer portal. When Dabosweeney was
- 26:17Speaker 5: getting on his high horse and was like the only
- 26:19Speaker 5: Nil I care about is Jesus' name image and like this,
- 26:22Speaker 5: like okay, dab but we get it.
- 26:23Speaker 3: But you're saying, you're saying champions, Yeah, champions are champions.
- 26:27Speaker 3: They don't forget how to be champions. They don't forget
- 26:29Speaker 3: how to coach their team. Two championships? Is that what
- 26:31Speaker 3: you're saying that he could have his moment again?
- 26:33Speaker 5: Right if Dabo Sweeney just puts his pride aside and says,
- 26:36Speaker 5: I am going to use nil and I am going
- 26:39Speaker 5: to use the transfer portal to get the best players
- 26:41Speaker 5: here because I know what our coaching staff can do
- 26:44Speaker 5: when we have the resources backing us. Yes, there's a
- 26:47Speaker 5: world where Clemson gets back to being a national title contender.
- 26:50Speaker 5: It's just can Dabbo do that?
- 26:52Speaker 4: Right?
- 26:53Speaker 3: It's interesting that you think coaches have that ability. What
- 26:55Speaker 3: happened to Belichick?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Brady?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, losing Brady?
- 27:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Well, Dabo's proven he could win in college football.
- 27:07Speaker 5: There was nothing to suggest that around Belichick could win
- 27:10Speaker 5: at the college football level. And then just six Super
- 27:13Speaker 5: Bowl rings and then him and Lombardi go down to
- 27:16Speaker 5: Chapel Hill and they're like, well, this is how he
- 27:18Speaker 5: did in the NFL Okay, guys, that has no bearing
- 27:21Speaker 5: on if you're able to beat Wake Force, which you
- 27:24Speaker 5: guys have proven you can't even do that. So stop
- 27:27Speaker 5: referring yourself as the thirty third NFL team please, Right Jesus.
- 27:30Speaker 3: When did Dabo win that national championship? Just because it's
- 27:35Speaker 3: been a while, that's all I'm saying, Like I understand.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Twenty eighteen. Okay, so he lost in twenty nineteen to
- 27:43Speaker 5: that the LSU Joe Burrow, Tamar chasetrus.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So not that far remove what you're saying, right, And
- 27:49Speaker 3: I'm with you, just based on talent and the coach
- 27:52Speaker 3: and the home field and all of it. That a championship,
- 27:55Speaker 3: you know, a championship winning coach being there doing that,
- 28:00Speaker 3: it means a lot in terms of trying to get
- 28:02Speaker 3: back to glory.
- 28:03Speaker 5: And when you're looking at what's changed the most since
- 28:06Speaker 5: they went to that national championship in twenty nineteen, they
- 28:09Speaker 5: won the national championship in twenty eighteen, it's the transfer portal. Yes,
- 28:13Speaker 5: the transfer portal and nil are the only things that
- 28:16Speaker 5: are stopping Clemson from getting back there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you think the pitch is to one
- 28:20Speaker 1: of these?
- 28:21Speaker 3: You know, guys, who has a fifth year but you know,
- 28:24Speaker 3: playing for an NFL team right now, Like if Kirby
- 28:26Speaker 3: Smart's going in there, he's bad mouth in his current
- 28:29Speaker 3: coach saying, hey, I know this guy, he's never going
- 28:31Speaker 3: to play.
- 28:31Speaker 1: You come to Georgia, right, Yeah, Well, I think the
- 28:34Speaker 1: the brown paper bag.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah, the pitch, there is no bag.
- 28:42Speaker 5: There is no pitch. The pitch is how much are
- 28:44Speaker 5: you gonna pay me? And guess what, most of the time,
- 28:47Speaker 5: with a lot of these guys that are that have
- 28:49Speaker 5: the decision coming up, it's going to pay you more
- 28:52Speaker 5: than a practice squads pays out an NFL player.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Just tell me Carson Beck can't go back. That's all
- 28:57Speaker 3: I want to know. He can't.
- 28:58Speaker 5: He can't go back.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Okay, he didn't play for or consecutive years. He played
- 29:02Speaker 1: for twelve.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Let's do blind rankings here, Mikey as we close out
- 29:05Speaker 3: God bless football.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm very excited about this.
- 29:08Speaker 3: You made a face because you feel like we've been
- 29:10Speaker 3: talking way too long.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'm ready to go blind rankings.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Let's do it today.
- 29:16Speaker 2: We're doing college football Quarterbacks.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Of the last I don't know, we'll call it twenty
- 29:21Speaker 6: five thirty years.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Okay, all right, So this.
- 29:25Speaker 6: Is you guys, each tell me where you have them
- 29:27Speaker 6: ranked one through ten.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yep, you don't have to agree.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Give me a name.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Remember this is only their college careers.
- 29:39Speaker 4: We're in preseason four.
- 29:41Speaker 2: First name up, Baker Mayfield.
- 29:45Speaker 3: All time great college quarterbacks the last twenty five to
- 29:49Speaker 3: thirty years. Now, it just dawned on me why Taylor's
- 29:52Speaker 3: asking so many follow ups?
- 29:56Speaker 2: Call it into two thousand?
- 29:59Speaker 1: Why can't we go back for I mean.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Because that's not the list I have. I created this list.
- 30:04Speaker 4: It's your list. It's your game out. I'm sorry forget
- 30:08Speaker 4: it lashing at him, Yes.
- 30:13Speaker 2: You are, instead of just giving me a number.
- 30:16Speaker 3: So since two thousand, how many quarterbacks have been better
- 30:18Speaker 3: than Baker Mayfield?
- 30:19Speaker 1: All right, Taylor, you have your number here.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Man, there's a lot of.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Prison quarterbacks since two thousand. It's basically a quarterback award.
- 30:28Speaker 5: I was gonna try to use that. I'm gonna put Baker.
- 30:31Speaker 3: I mean, you put Baker too low on this list.
- 30:33Speaker 3: He's gonna have a chip on his shoulders, so be careful.
- 30:35Speaker 5: I'm gonna do exactly that, and I'm gonna put Baker
- 30:38Speaker 5: Seven's curious.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna put Baker both good.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Baker Forth, he was good.
- 30:47Speaker 2: That was good. Okay. Next name up, Jameis Winston.
- 30:51Speaker 4: He was great.
- 30:52Speaker 5: It's better than Baker, it's great.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He had a better college career than Baker.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Yes, I'm gonna put Gmus Winston. So I have a
- 31:01Speaker 5: pretty good idea of the quarterbacks that I would save
- 31:05Speaker 5: for a definitive top three. So I'm gonna put Jamis four.
- 31:13Speaker 3: You have a definitive top three, but you don't know
- 31:16Speaker 3: if those three names are gonna be included.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So correct, very true.
- 31:19Speaker 5: But I'll hold out with the hope that at least
- 31:21Speaker 5: some of those guys' names.
- 31:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna put Jamis at number three, number three, three,
- 31:27Speaker 3: he was great.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Next name up, Joe Burrow.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Exactly one of my top three. He's won for h
- 31:39Speaker 5: I am also going to I'm not gonna take any
- 31:42Speaker 5: chances here. I'm gonna put Joe Burrow at the top
- 31:44Speaker 5: spot before that twenty nineteen season.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Last three.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Okay, Next name up, Vince Young.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Damn Now, he was good.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Now, Vince Young might be the greatest college quarterback I've
- 32:02Speaker 1: ever seen.
- 32:03Speaker 4: I mean, he might be.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I don't even think he want a hush doesn't matter.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Just here. Did I just hear born opera Cardigo?
- 32:10Speaker 3: He agrees with me, I mean for me, but we're
- 32:13Speaker 3: doing We're not going that far back.
- 32:15Speaker 1: It is Charlie Ward. He is the greatest college quarterback
- 32:20Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
- 32:23Speaker 2: So you're putting him at two. You have two, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
- 32:30Speaker 2: ten open, and we're ready.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Mayfield.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Since I grew up, I thought he'd be angry at me.
- 32:38Speaker 5: Since I grew up a USC fan. I'm gonna dock
- 32:41Speaker 5: a couple of points from Vince Young there, and I'm
- 32:44Speaker 5: gonna put Vince Young five.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I can't put Vince Young after Baker. That's why I
- 32:48Speaker 4: hate this game.
- 32:51Speaker 1: And he's gonna give us a name that's better than
- 32:54Speaker 1: Vince Young than.
- 32:55Speaker 2: It's called blind rankings, not rankings.
- 32:57Speaker 1: All right, I'm putting Vince Young at number five.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Go ahead, I have to. I'm sorry, Ben So, I
- 33:01Speaker 4: love you. Go ahead, all right.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Next name up, DeShawn Watson.
- 33:08Speaker 4: He was good at Clemson. He was great at Clemson.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I have no problem putting to Shawn Watson.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Chime of here, same here, It's easy. No one's good
- 33:19Speaker 4: at the sea.
- 33:23Speaker 6: I think that's a little bit of NFL. DeShawn Watson.
- 33:26Speaker 6: But okay, uh, next name up?
- 33:29Speaker 5: Tim Tebow one of the names I was saving for
- 33:32Speaker 5: my top three for me. So I've already gotten two
- 33:35Speaker 5: of my top three. I'm gonna put Tim Tebow third.
- 33:39Speaker 1: My top five is rounded out. How about that.
- 33:43Speaker 5: There's a there's a name. There's a name that could
- 33:45Speaker 5: come that I think is a definitive top three guy.
- 33:47Speaker 5: But we'll see if you get him.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Maybe this guy is it. Next name up, Michael Vick.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Yea, when Michael Taylor, you're giving a look like you
- 34:03Speaker 3: didn't expect that one. When he brought Virginia Tech to
- 34:05Speaker 3: the National Championship game, I swore to myself, Michael Vick
- 34:09Speaker 3: was going to be the.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Greatest quarterback that has ever led. I did, man. He
- 34:14Speaker 1: was so good in college, so good.
- 34:17Speaker 5: And he was instrumental in making Virginia Tech like a
- 34:20Speaker 5: relevant college football powerhouse.
- 34:22Speaker 3: With Frank Beemer, they were always pretty good, but he
- 34:24Speaker 3: got them to a national championship game like they were
- 34:28Speaker 3: always competitive, always good, and he took him to the
- 34:30Speaker 3: next next level. Yeah, I'll put him at six. I
- 34:33Speaker 3: have to have no choice.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I'm also gonna put him at six. I'm keeping my
- 34:36Speaker 5: number two spot. For the guy that I'm holding out
- 34:38Speaker 5: vote for.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Next name up, Johnny Football, Damn not.
- 34:45Speaker 4: The name of well? Why Baker at four?
- 34:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna put him a spot below Baker Mayfield and
- 34:51Speaker 5: put Johnny Football eight. Electric but Tech Saint m.
- 34:56Speaker 4: He was more than electric.
- 34:58Speaker 3: He went, he won the Heisman, he beat Alabama at Alabama,
- 35:02Speaker 3: it was incredible.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I should still be there.
- 35:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna put Man's out at.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Number eight, so I have two and nine. I have
- 35:13Speaker 1: seven and nine.
- 35:17Speaker 6: Next name up when you really need like a Jason White,
- 35:20Speaker 6: So you're not getting Jason White. I've been holding out
- 35:23Speaker 6: for this Taylor's. Taylor's about to be very happy. I
- 35:26Speaker 6: think next name up, Cam.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Newton exactly I was. I was holding out hope for
- 35:32Speaker 5: Cam Newton.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I got you, I got you.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Now I'm putting this position where Cam Newton's behind Baker Mayfield.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Michael Vick, Vince Young.
- 35:42Speaker 3: I'm okay with Michael Vick being ahead of Cam Newton.
- 35:45Speaker 4: I'm okay with them.
- 35:46Speaker 5: So I held out for a top three of Joe Burrow,
- 35:49Speaker 5: Cam Newton, and Tim Tebow, and I got all three
- 35:51Speaker 5: in the spots that I wanted.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I had Burrow, Tebow, and Jamis.
- 35:55Speaker 2: I'm terrible.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I have Jameis for I mean, Jamis was so good,
- 35:58Speaker 1: so good.
- 36:00Speaker 3: All right, So I'm stuck with this last quarterback at
- 36:02Speaker 3: number seven or nine.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Oh, so you're putting Cam at seven.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I put Cam at seven.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Both of your number nine quarterbacks are Troy Smith, Bryce Young.
- 36:13Speaker 4: Oh, I'm good with that.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I don't get that.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Good.
- 36:18Speaker 2: So to recap.
- 36:19Speaker 3: If I was making a list of best quarterbacks in
- 36:21Speaker 3: college football since two thousand, that's where it'd slap Rice in.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I think.
- 36:27Speaker 6: All right, so we're to recap Stu Gotts, Went, Joe Burrow,
- 36:30Speaker 6: Tim Tebow, Jameis Winston, Baker, Mayfield, Vince Young, Michael Vick,
- 36:34Speaker 6: Cam Newton, Johnny Manzel, Vince Young, Deshaun Watson, Taylor Went,
- 36:40Speaker 6: Joe Burrow, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Jamis Winston, Vince Young,
- 36:43Speaker 6: Michael Vick, Baker, Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, Rice Young, Deshaun Watson.
- 36:49Speaker 5: If you gave me those ten names and said just
- 36:52Speaker 5: rank them, not blind rankings, this is pretty close close
- 36:56Speaker 5: as I think I would come to ranking them.
- 36:58Speaker 4: You did a good job.
- 37:00Speaker 5: I'm okay, to be fair. I didn't see much of
- 37:03Speaker 5: Michael Vick in college, he was great.
- 37:06Speaker 3: I mean the first time he stepped on an NFL field,
- 37:08Speaker 3: it was down here in Miami, the Falcons taken on
- 37:11Speaker 3: the Dolphins. He was the fastest guy on the field
- 37:13Speaker 3: by a lot, Like it wasn't even closed. And I'm like,
- 37:15Speaker 3: that guy's gonna be the greatest quarterback that's ever lived.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Kind of like what I'm doing with Caleb Williams. Who
- 37:19Speaker 3: was the quarterback where you weren't certain of the range
- 37:23Speaker 3: in which he played It was twenty five to thirty
- 37:25Speaker 3: What was the quarterback?
- 37:25Speaker 1: Who was the quarterback?
- 37:26Speaker 2: You would think it was Michael Vick. I couldn't remember
- 37:28Speaker 2: if it was like thirty years ago. I knew he's
- 37:31Speaker 2: the oldest name on the list.
- 37:35Speaker 3: All right, I feel good about my list, I did.
- 37:39Speaker 3: I mean, Tim Tebow is number two. You could argue
- 37:41Speaker 3: he's the best college quarterback of all time. You could
- 37:45Speaker 3: Burrow did it for a year.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah, both of you. Having Burrow number one was shocking
- 37:51Speaker 2: to me.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Why, I mean, it's the greatest offense and it was
- 37:55Speaker 3: one year, I know, but it was the greatest offense
- 37:58Speaker 3: in the history of college football.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Thought process there was I was putting Burrow one because
- 38:04Speaker 5: I didn't know if Cam Newton was coming. Cam Newton,
- 38:07Speaker 5: to me, is the best quarterback I've ever seen at
- 38:09Speaker 5: the college level. And I don't think I don't think
- 38:11Speaker 5: we're going to see a quarterback better at college than
- 38:14Speaker 5: Cam Newton was.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I want to ask you guys a question here, just
- 38:18Speaker 3: kind of, you know, kind of bringing these topics together
- 38:20Speaker 3: here on God Bless football. If Deshaun Watson had the
- 38:24Speaker 3: permanent spot at Clemson, which would be an odd thing
- 38:27Speaker 3: to give him based on what he's done here, But
- 38:30Speaker 3: if he had it, would Clemson win the ACC? Would
- 38:33Speaker 3: they be in national championship contention? If Deshaun Watson was
- 38:37Speaker 3: their quarterback this year?
- 38:39Speaker 5: If you put a starting NFL caliber quarterback on a
- 38:42Speaker 5: college team as.
- 38:43Speaker 6: It started in three years, a higher level college team, yeah.
- 38:47Speaker 5: They're they're they're walking. They're minus four hundred to win
- 38:51Speaker 5: the national championship.
- 38:53Speaker 1: If you put Jamis back on Florida State.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Minus seven hundred, Norvela is safe.
- 38:58Speaker 3: If you put Vinji Young, does Arch Manning lose his job?
- 39:02Speaker 3: If Vince Young goes back to Texas?
- 39:05Speaker 5: Vince Vince Young is tricky because nobody knows what kind
- 39:08Speaker 5: of shape Vince Young is in and I would imagine
- 39:11Speaker 5: it's not the best of shape.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Okay, if that's what we're talking about, yeah, I can't.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I can't argue that.
- 39:16Speaker 6: But if we're talking about Vince Young the athlete, then yeah,
- 39:20Speaker 6: Vince Young is not letting arch manning tickets.
- 39:23Speaker 3: If Tim Tebow goes back to Florida, are the Gators
- 39:27Speaker 3: competing for a national championship?
- 39:31Speaker 2: Here's a better question.
- 39:33Speaker 6: If Tim Tebow and Fernando Mendoz are in the same
- 39:36Speaker 6: room together, is that the nicest room that there's ever been?
- 39:39Speaker 3: Well, that's obvious. Here's a better question. Cam Newton, who
- 39:43Speaker 3: started at Florida, If he went back to Florida, would
- 39:48Speaker 3: they be in national championship contention?
- 39:51Speaker 2: Easily?
- 39:53Speaker 4: Alright, I have one more for you.
- 39:55Speaker 3: If Michael Vick went back to Virginia Tech with their
- 39:59Speaker 3: permanent roster spot, do you think they'd win a national
- 40:02Speaker 3: championship at his current age?
- 40:07Speaker 2: And who's the coach there?
- 40:08Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 40:10Speaker 5: You don't know who the coach in Virginia Tech is.
- 40:12Speaker 5: Come on, man, no, James Franklin.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Oh that's right, damn.
- 40:16Speaker 2: He's gonna lose the big game anyway. No matter what
- 40:19Speaker 2: Vic though I.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Take it back.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Vic wouldn't go back because James Franklin's the head coach.
