O my God, my soul despairs within me. Therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and the peaks of Hermon—even from Mount Mizar. — Psalm 42:6

The psalmist voices honest despair, yet his cry does not end in the pit. He remembers God's faithfulness, commanding his own soul to hope in the One who keeps in perfect peace those who trust Him. Every burden we cast on the Lord is received by His sustaining power, for He who never hides His face from the afflicted will hold His own unshaken.
