Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to AgSquawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I'm with Ag Bull Media.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that loves agriculture.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Today we'll be talking about that WASDI report that's going to be coming out beef exports versus imports and chipmaker TSMC.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Live cattle closed at$215.85 down a dollar and eighteen cents.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were in the green, though.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: They were up a 38 cents at 325.83.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Lean hogs closed a little but above 83 down a dollar and eighteen cents.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: As I quote the grain market here live, I'd like to shout out to our sponsor, plus 500.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: We use plus 500 T4 trading software every single day to quote the market.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And as I look here on my T4, December corn is up overnight at 532 and three quarters.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Same thing with beans.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: They're at 13.19 and three quarters.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Chicago, December wheat is at 732 and a half.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Cool to see when markets pop like that overnight.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Great surprise to wake up to in the morning.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: As we look at the weather, the rain has finally decided that it is going to the southeastern cornbelt and southern plains, delivering a badly needed net beneficial moisture, especially significant for the hard red wheat belt, which stays in an above normal.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: You hear that?
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Above normal precipitation for the full 15-day outlook.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Man, that is awesome to see.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Those folks down there definitely deserve it after what they've been through.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And as a plus side for all of us up here in the northern corn belt, we're gonna see a slight dip in temperatures.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I know every morning when I've been waking up, uh it's been just a little bit cooler overnight, which has been nice because it's starting to maybe feel like fall is in the air.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: On the grain market talk for today, the WASDI report comes out tomorrow.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Obviously, there's a lot to digest.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: This report will cause some volatility in the market.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: If you knew the answer, uh, you wouldn't be sitting here listening to me.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: And if I knew the answer, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: The best thing we can do is stay educated.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Trade estimates or trader estimates, I should say, sit in a big range.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Most of them on the corn side on yield are kind of below where August was at.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Beans kind of straddle either side, some above, some below, and cotton mostly kind of below just a little bit.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But the big thing is stay informed when this market comes out.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Use this data to your advantage to hedge going forward into the fall.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: On the livestock market discussion for today, we have import versus export talk on the table for today.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And you're that might seem just a little bit similar, and the reason I'm going to stay slightly brief today is because I spent a long time talking about it yesterday with Mike Sands.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: We thought the Fat Tuesday show was so good.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: We went ahead and made it free to the public.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: It is on all platforms.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: It seems to have some fans, it's doing pretty well.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to go listen to that because Mike discusses it way better than I do.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And his big takeaway, the title of his one slide, was that US beef prices are drawing in outside competition, which I, you know, I I had always known, but it's something that, you know, I kind of forget to think about sometimes.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: We're so concerned about our domestic production that we don't realize that we do have the highest beef prices in the world.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And because of that, competitors want to enter the U.S.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: market.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And this chart definitely shows that spread and gap in exports and imports.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Mike's the guy to talk to you about it, though.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I highly encourage you to go watch that on all platforms.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: This is a headline that caught my eye this morning on CNBC and Trade the News.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Trade the News is a sponsor of the show.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: World's largest contract chipmaker, TSMCC's August revenue surge 53% to record high.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Revenue rose 53% year over year and more than 10% from July.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: The world's largest contract chipmaker has continued to benefit from the strong demand for chips used in artificial intelligence applications, which I'm sure I didn't have to tell you guys.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And love it or hate it, we have to pay attention to these outside markets.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Right now, the AI boom pushes the stock market around.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: It truly does.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And being aware of that is super beneficial right now because a rising tide or a falling tide brings up all chips.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Several other headlines that I saw this morning were saying, you know, kind of bubble speculative talk.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to be the one to speculate on that because that's awful risky to go ahead and do.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: But pay attention to what's going on.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Caterpillar stock is the one that has kind of been the direct correlation between ag and the tech industry because they make a lot of generators, which are helpful there in those data centers.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: On the economic calendar for today, the jobless claims comes out here at 7.30 a.m.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: same as the PPI.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: That is central time.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Existing home sales comes out at 9.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Natural gas storage change comes out at 9.30.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: And the EIA energy stocks come out at 11 a.m.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Well, that's all I have for you today, folks.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: It's been a heck of a show and a heck of a week already so far, and I encourage you to take advantage and use all the resources that you have to gain the most knowledge, especially this time of year when you have time, you know, to maybe sit in a combine and sit in a tractor as we work towards harvest season, even though you're probably headset's going to be ringing off the hook talking to whether it be a truck driver or a grain bit or a grain cart driver.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Still, there is the opportunity to sit here and listen to some podcasts, and I highly encourage you to go on over to AgBull Media for$25 a month or$250 annually and subscribe to the premium side.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Text updates, morning newsletters, call our line anytime.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: That's what you get with the premium side.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you for watching and thank you for listening.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: I'm Jed Sidwell with AgBull Media.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that absolutely loves agriculture.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I'll talk to you tomorrow.
