- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning everybody you're listening to the voice, come on,
- 0:09Speaker 2: dig me now. One and only Steve Harley got a
- 0:12Speaker 2: radio show today. I want to just share something with
- 0:19Speaker 2: you along your way to wherever it is you're trying
- 0:26Speaker 2: to get to. You know, everybody has a different definition
- 0:30Speaker 2: for success, and I'm not here to tell you what
- 0:33Speaker 2: yours should be. I mean, please pursue whatever you think
- 0:36Speaker 2: success is. Aim as high as you can, though, that's
- 0:41Speaker 2: for sure. My father used to say all the time.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I'm sure you all have heard it in different variations,
- 0:48Speaker 2: but he used to always say, aim for the moon.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Just in case you miss, you'll still be amongst the stars.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Just say that to me all the time. So that
- 0:56Speaker 2: always was in me to aim high. Now he wasn't
- 1:02Speaker 2: saying aim with the intent to miss. He was just
- 1:06Speaker 2: saying aim in case you miss, you'll steal me amongst
- 1:11Speaker 2: the stars. If you aim for the moon. But if
- 1:14Speaker 2: you just aim for that first flow window and you
- 1:16Speaker 2: miss it, you know, usually run into some type of
- 1:21Speaker 2: wall and nothing happens.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You slither down. You know.
- 1:24Speaker 2: In my book, act like a lady, think like a man.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I told her people that me in love three ways,
- 1:29Speaker 2: they profess, they provide, they protect, and that's the core
- 1:33Speaker 2: essence of a man's love.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well, there's some other PE's in life too.
- 1:39Speaker 2: The number one thing you have to understand about trying
- 1:43Speaker 2: to be successful, and I guess I'll call this the
- 1:47Speaker 2: four p's. I may come up with five along the way.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I'm just talking as it's given to me. So I'm
- 1:54Speaker 2: gonna summer start by saying that these are the four
- 1:57Speaker 2: PE's of success that you have to get ready for.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Number one is pressure. A lot of it is applied
- 2:06Speaker 2: by the circumstance of what you're trying to go for
- 2:09Speaker 2: and what you're trying to do, but a lot of
- 2:14Speaker 2: it also is self imposed pressure. It's what you put
- 2:18Speaker 2: on yourself to make it. It's a sense of urgency,
- 2:24Speaker 2: it's a sense of necessity. But pressure is the first
- 2:30Speaker 2: thing I want you to be ready for. And pressure
- 2:33Speaker 2: comes in a lot of different forms, but it's going
- 2:36Speaker 2: to be pressured. As an old saying that pressure buster pipe. See,
- 2:39Speaker 2: that's why most people turn around because of the pressure
- 2:42Speaker 2: of trying to be successful. I want you to get
- 2:45Speaker 2: it in your mind that it is going to be
- 2:48Speaker 2: a pressure rize situation on your rise to the top. Pressure,
- 2:54Speaker 2: but understanding that is what it is is not going
- 2:57Speaker 2: to change. That's it. Prepare yourself, get ready for there
- 3:03Speaker 2: to be pressure. The second thing I want you to
- 3:07Speaker 2: understand is when you receive this pressure, you have to persist.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You got to stay at it. You got to develop
- 3:16Speaker 1: a dog illness. Hether. There's a song.
- 3:25Speaker 2: It says, why must I feel like that? Why must
- 3:29Speaker 2: I chase the cat? Nothing but the dog in me?
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's a funny line in that song, because really I
- 3:38Speaker 2: was thinking about it one day. I was humming it
- 3:41Speaker 2: and and it occurred to me, said, why must I
- 3:45Speaker 2: feel like that? Why must I chase the cat? Nothing
- 3:49Speaker 2: but the dog in me? And you know, now, you
- 3:53Speaker 2: could take it in the literal sense that a cat
- 3:56Speaker 2: chases the dog, because it's innately, it's in his spirit.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Cats and dogs are a lot of times enemies.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Now people have pets in him proven that if you
- 4:05Speaker 2: show love on both sides, they can exist. And that
- 4:08Speaker 2: happens too, but naturally innately, when your cat goes by
- 4:13Speaker 2: a dog and your dog don't recognize him, there's some
- 4:15Speaker 2: barking going on. I'm talking about just walking through the
- 4:18Speaker 2: neighborhood or something.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So. But the reason that this dog.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Is so persistent towards this cat is just cause it's
- 4:28Speaker 2: in him. It's innately in him. And what I'm saying
- 4:33Speaker 2: to you, just using that as an analogy, is that
- 4:38Speaker 2: you got to be you got to be persistent in that.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You got to develop some dog in you now, because
- 4:48Speaker 1: pressure takes some fighting back.
- 4:51Speaker 2: See if you don't fight back against pressure, pressure buster pipe,
- 4:54Speaker 2: So what you think it'll do to you? Pressure crack walls,
- 4:58Speaker 2: pressure calls explosi. So if you don't fight back to
- 5:02Speaker 2: hold it in, you understand pressure does most people in
- 5:07Speaker 2: the simple thing called pressure, the weight of what it
- 5:11Speaker 2: feels like to want to be successful every single day,
- 5:15Speaker 2: over and over and over and over and over. It's
- 5:18Speaker 2: just too much pressure. People crack. You got to persist.
- 5:22Speaker 2: You have to persist.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You can. The thought of giving up can come, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: you got to get it out. You got to persist.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The next thing I want you to think about is
- 5:37Speaker 2: another something that I've been thinking about for years and
- 5:40Speaker 2: learned for years.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's called perseverance.
- 5:44Speaker 2: To persist means to insist, a keyword in incest, and
- 5:50Speaker 2: persistence insists you must, you must insist that this is
- 5:54Speaker 2: going to happen. Now, the persist I'm assuming means it's
- 5:58Speaker 2: a proaction. It's some type of proaction that you go
- 6:02Speaker 2: towards it to make it. You know, persist, you gotta
- 6:06Speaker 2: be persistent. You gotta be constantly at it, insisting that
- 6:09Speaker 2: it happens. You gotta be constantly at it. But the
- 6:12Speaker 2: next thing I want you to remember is perseverance. Perseverance
- 6:16Speaker 2: is important. Perseverance means that when you've done your best,
- 6:22Speaker 2: when you've persisted, when you're fighting back against the pressure.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Perseverance simply means I'm going to hang in here. If
- 6:32Speaker 2: a crack come into pipe, I'm gonna hang in there.
- 6:36Speaker 2: If the pipe bust, I'm gonna keep going. If I
- 6:39Speaker 2: gotta put duct, take mud, whatever I got to put
- 6:44Speaker 2: on this thing, man, I'm gonna use perseverance. I'm going
- 6:49Speaker 2: to stay with it no matter what. So we're looking
- 6:53Speaker 2: at the three things again. You got to understand that
- 6:56Speaker 2: it's gonna be pressure that you're gonna have to persist.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Keyword in persistence.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Insists you have to insist that no matter what the
- 7:04Speaker 2: pressure is, I'm gonna stay with it. But then perseverance,
- 7:08Speaker 2: if it goes wrong, Man, you got to get in
- 7:12Speaker 2: there and keep fighting. But then, Lord have mercy. Nothing
- 7:17Speaker 2: helps you handle the three peas better than the fourth
- 7:19Speaker 2: p You got to pray. You got to use prayer.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You gotta talk to God. You gotta use faith. You
- 7:27Speaker 2: gotta have some conferences with him late at night, early
- 7:31Speaker 2: in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon, when
- 7:34Speaker 2: you're on the train, when you're driving. You got to
- 7:37Speaker 2: talk to God. Man, you got to get yourself some
- 7:39Speaker 2: help along the way. Nothing is bigger than prayer. There
- 7:43Speaker 2: is nothing bigger than prayer. Prayer will help you overcome
- 7:46Speaker 2: the pressure. Prayer will help you stay persistent, and Lord
- 7:50Speaker 2: have mercy, Prayer will help you persevere. Then, mister faux peace,
- 7:55Speaker 2: God gave that to me. I'm passing it
- 7:58Speaker 1: On to the Steve Harvey Morning Show
