- 0:26Speaker 1: every day, Liz Peak. How you doing.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm terrific, so much better for being with you.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Mark. Well, thanks. I think everyone's a little shocked. I
- 0:35Speaker 1: wake up this morning find out Prince Andrew has been arrested.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But you know it's interesting. I mean, I'm sure you
- 0:42Speaker 2: know it's not because he may have had sexual relations
- 0:46Speaker 2: with underage girls. It's really because he may have passed
- 0:50Speaker 2: secrets to Jeffrey Epstein. I mean, I think, you know,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I think the underlying story, what we're gonna hear more
- 0:57Speaker 2: and more maybe him out from the Jeffrey Epstein revelations
- 1:03Speaker 2: is that the guy was a master blackmailer and he
- 1:07Speaker 2: you know, got people like Prince Andrew and who knows
- 1:10Speaker 2: who else into compromising situations and then took advantage of that.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You know that we've not really ever heard the explanation
- 1:19Speaker 2: for Leon Black paying him tens of millions of dollars.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I'm sure there are other people who are going to
- 1:25Speaker 2: be implicated in the same way. But what a horrible
- 1:28Speaker 2: thing for the Royal family. I mean, I must say,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, they've had their share of pretty tough hits
- 1:35Speaker 2: in the last couple of years, with Kate Middleton having
- 1:39Speaker 2: cancer and Charles having cancer, and now this is supreme embarrassment.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You know, I have to say, my heart goes out
- 1:47Speaker 2: to the family.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I got to disagree a little let Royal family. They
- 1:50Speaker 1: got more nonsense going on through these remember Fergie and
- 1:53Speaker 1: all that stuff, and well that was Prince Andrew's their wife,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but it was there's always some embarrassing stuff with that family,
- 2:00Speaker 1: not as bad as this, but.
- 2:02Speaker 2: No, this is this is pretty terrible. And you know,
- 2:05Speaker 2: I think what's sort of tragic is that, you know,
- 2:09Speaker 2: Queen Elizabeth to me was a really outstanding, steady, tough person,
- 2:16Speaker 2: no question, but you have to be pretty tough in
- 2:18Speaker 2: her in her life, I think, and you know it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: for next generation problems, right I mean, I think Charles
- 2:26Speaker 2: is sort of a fool, uh and not a very
- 2:28Speaker 2: well respected person. So then you go to the next
- 2:31Speaker 2: generation and they've just had you know, I mean, to
- 2:34Speaker 2: have Kate get Ill and all of that. It's just
- 2:37Speaker 2: I think it's been a pretty tough couple of years.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But anyway, this is a whole new chapter and pretty
- 2:43Speaker 2: disgraceful obviously.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I also I never thought I still don't buy
- 2:47Speaker 1: that Epstein was such a blackmailer. He had a way
- 2:49Speaker 1: of just luring these guys in with all kinds of
- 2:53Speaker 1: you know, it wasn't just the women. If you I've
- 2:55Speaker 1: been reading the file so carefully. He dangles celebrities in
- 2:59Speaker 1: front of them up dinners with Woody Allen and this
- 3:01Speaker 1: person and that person, and you know, you know, those
- 3:04Speaker 1: guys are as starstruck as anybody in fall for that
- 3:07Speaker 1: master manipulator.
- 3:09Speaker 2: On the other hand, if you're Prince Andrew and you
- 3:12Speaker 2: have that there are pictures of you with these underage girls,
- 3:16Speaker 2: pretty much you'll do anything he wants you to.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, So hey, State of the Union addresses coming up Tuesday.
- 3:23Speaker 1: As I said before, it's always an opportunity for Democrats
- 3:26Speaker 1: to totally embarrass themselves. And yeah, now they're talking about
- 3:30Speaker 1: having their own State of the Union somewhere else. Isn't
- 3:33Speaker 1: that going to backfire on them? Well?
- 3:36Speaker 2: What I almost tweeted about this and then I couldn't
- 3:38Speaker 2: really figure out how to, you know, make it interesting.
- 3:41Speaker 2: But they're calling their performance and honestly, when did Democrats
- 3:46Speaker 2: become the performance party? But that's kind of what they've
- 3:49Speaker 2: evolved into. They have no policies they want to talk about.
- 3:53Speaker 2: All they do is hate Trump and then sort of
- 3:55Speaker 2: showcase that hatred with endless filibuster speeches, etc. And that course,
- 4:00Speaker 2: here's the newest one, which is a State of the
- 4:04Speaker 2: Union for the people. Okay, Well, their biggest complaint about
- 4:08Speaker 2: Donald Trump is as a populist. What does that mean?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Mark?
- 4:11Speaker 2: That means he's of the people. Right, So, when you
- 4:14Speaker 2: have a president elected by a majority of voters, this
- 4:19Speaker 2: is no longer a fringe candidate. This is no longer
- 4:22Speaker 2: someone who doesn't represent the will of the people. He
- 4:26Speaker 2: clearly does. And so I think for that, you know, look,
- 4:30Speaker 2: I think the Republicans have lost some important contests recently,
- 4:36Speaker 2: some elections have gone the wrong way. Obviously, the country
- 4:40Speaker 2: in the midterms, as usual is ready to sort of
- 4:44Speaker 2: voice some discontent with what's going on. But the reality
- 4:48Speaker 2: is this guy, Donald Trump is getting stuff done. He
- 4:51Speaker 2: is fixing what's broken in the government. A lot of
- 4:53Speaker 2: people are applauding that. So I think just resting your
- 4:58Speaker 2: case on how vile the president is is pretty weak gruel,
- 5:03Speaker 2: and I just cannot imagine that in the midterms people
- 5:07Speaker 2: are going to turn out. Now, the risk to the
- 5:10Speaker 2: GOP is that Trump voters just are not reliable voters.
- 5:15Speaker 2: But then a lot of the Democratic coalition isn't reliable either.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Young people don't always vote in the midterms, and minorities
- 5:22Speaker 2: don't always vote in the midterms. So we'll see what happens.
- 5:25Speaker 2: But the more that they embarrass themselves by acting out
- 5:30Speaker 2: by the way, Hakim Jeffries, the Minority leader, has asked
- 5:34Speaker 2: Democrats not to do this because I think he's aware
- 5:37Speaker 2: that it just embarrasses them.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, the President's done a great job foreign policy economies,
- 5:46Speaker 1: but Democrats create this fake narrative, this affordability crisis. So
- 5:50Speaker 1: isn't this a big opportunity for him to just the
- 5:53Speaker 1: hole public will be watching and he can lay out
- 5:55Speaker 1: the actual facts on inflation wages. So won't that change everything?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if it'll change everything, because of
- 6:02Speaker 2: course you'll have commentators immediately fact checking everything he says.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But if he sticks to the facts, mark, yes, if
- 6:11Speaker 2: he claims growth, we're you know, if he claims we're
- 6:14Speaker 2: striving for fifteen percent growth, no.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's not going to work.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But we don't need to make up exaggerated numbers. We
- 6:21Speaker 2: don't need to talk about stuff that's not real, because
- 6:24Speaker 2: the story right now is extremely persuasive. And I must say,
- 6:29Speaker 2: the Fed minutes are just really sort of make my
- 6:34Speaker 2: head hurt. Because Bloomberg did a piece this morning on
- 6:38Speaker 2: the FED notes that were made public yesterday. I was like, well,
- 6:41Speaker 2: they may have to raise rates because of inflation, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 2: not being where they wanted to be. Inflation numbers just
- 6:48Speaker 2: recently were extremely good, very beneficial, two point four percent.
- 6:52Speaker 2: It is coming down a lot of people think that
- 6:55Speaker 2: actual inflation right now is closer to one percent. If
- 6:58Speaker 2: you stop measure during rent and household expenditures in a
- 7:06Speaker 2: sort of mixed up way. It's the numbers on inflation
- 7:11Speaker 2: are actually pretty good. Are they good enough? Maybe not,
- 7:14Speaker 2: but you're not you're certainly not about to embark on
- 7:18Speaker 2: a rate hiking cycle. But I mean, it's such a
- 7:21Speaker 2: typical Bloomberg or MSNBC or whatever description. Just make it
- 7:27Speaker 2: sound as bad as it possibly can be. So to
- 7:30Speaker 2: your point, Donald Trump has an opportunity on Tuesday night
- 7:34Speaker 2: to talk to the American people about what's happening in
- 7:37Speaker 2: our economy. We have an investment boom, Housing starts are up.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Affordability on housing, by the way, is getting better because
- 7:45Speaker 2: mortgage rates have come down. I mean, there is a
- 7:48Speaker 2: whole slew of positive developments that have come out, just
- 7:54Speaker 2: even in the last few weeks. And here's another thing.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I talked about this on Area yesterday a couple of
- 7:59Speaker 2: times aoc an inner terrible appearance in Munich, and then
- 8:04Speaker 2: the explanation afterwards talks about the central thing that Democrats
- 8:09Speaker 2: want to impress upon the American people, the fact that
- 8:12Speaker 2: income inequality is so terrible and the richer getting richer,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and blah blah blah. It is not true. The Economist,
- 8:19Speaker 2: a very left wing magazine, devoted an entire cover story
- 8:24Speaker 2: this week to the fact that actually, because of progressive
- 8:28Speaker 2: taxes such as we have here in the United States,
- 8:31Speaker 2: income inequality has been going down not only in the
- 8:34Speaker 2: US but also in Europe. So their whole narrative is wrong.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It's wrong. They're wrong on marijuana, they're wrong on gender surgeries,
- 8:43Speaker 2: and they're wrong on economic inequality. And you know they'll
- 8:48Speaker 2: never admit it, but the truth is they're wrong. And
- 8:50Speaker 2: so you know, I think that bleeds into reasonable and
- 8:56Speaker 2: wise critiques of people like Mamdani who's trying to force
- 9:00Speaker 2: all this tax hikes and stuff down the ridge because
- 9:04Speaker 2: of income inequality, wealth inequality and stuff, and people rightly
- 9:08Speaker 2: are putting back, pushing back and saying, hey, you're going
- 9:11Speaker 2: to kill your own city. So it's stupid, but b
- 9:14Speaker 2: your narrative is just false.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, Liz Peak brilliant as always. Now everybody should
