- 1:28[SPEAKER_26]: They want to know what the justification was for that second strike.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_26]: There's also a bigger question that lawmakers have up here, which is, are we at war, especially from Democrats and you do have one Republican at least, Rand Paul, who is kind of an anomaly in his party.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_17]: In New Orleans, immigration lawyers say they've been swamped with calls and some businesses who posted signs barring federal agents from entry.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_17]: As a new crackdown is underway there, CBS's Katie Weiss.

- 6:57[SPEAKER_09]: This is the hotline out of snowy day.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_09]: We woke up this morning and old man winter had reared his ugly head here in the North country.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not sure when the snow fell.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_09]: It was already there by time I woke up around six.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_09]: But he's, we got what, four, five, six inches.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know, and probably some more in Varns Corners.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_09]: It was snowing to beat the band there at four a.m. And maybe Lusher amounts up north.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_09]: Former Mayor Jeff Smith is here.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_09]: Mayor, how are you?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_21]: I'm doing well.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_21]: How are you doing, Mayor?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_09]: Good.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_09]: Did it snow at your house?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_21]: It snowed in Kaiser, if it did.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_09]: And did, okay.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_21]: That's no, I mean, that's kind of what happened.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, we act surprised.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_21]: And that what happens is winter around here.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_09]: Well, yeah, but some of these years winter gets a late start and now we're right into it.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_09]: Still fall technically and so on.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_09]: So if we'll chill it in a single digit you've come in for a holiday visit and that's good.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_09]: I've got something I got gifts and brought some gifts.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_09]: Is that okay?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not on the council, so I guess if they're under 75 there's no there's no redacted or unredacted emails and nothing with blind carbon copies.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_21]: Okay, and nothing that directly to.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_09]: Right.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_09]: There's the hip I think you wanted the hip or release.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_09]: So if you have to talk about my illness and so on because you were instrumental in that, right?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_21]: I don't want to not the illness, but the yeah, I wasn't involved in the illness.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_21]: But you knew more about it than anybody.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_09]: And all of that.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_09]: So you knew what condition I was in I was in the hospital because you were there.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_21]: I was there.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_21]: You can talk about it.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, I didn't watch your sweatshirt and sweatpants that you asked me for.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_09]: He's on the turn of sound mind, but... Yeah, how could I have committed crimes if I wasn't a silent mind?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_09]: I guess we'll find that out in February.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_21]: Are you a hoarding email?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_09]: I was not forwarding emails.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_09]: But this, from Kathy Hockel and the New York Lottery, I know, you still go, uh, you're still an outdoorsman of sorts.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_09]: This is some kind of collapsible lunch bag insulated.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_09]: It folds out into something.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_21]: You can open it up So I could stand under a billboard with beverages in this.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, it's okay.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_21]: Perfect.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_21]: You can do that.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_21]: This is the season for that.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, so there you go.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_09]: That's full.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_09]: There's a gift for you Not an improper gift because you need the URI or an office.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_09]: That's right.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_21]: And it's under 75 dollars.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, so there you go.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_21]: There's nothing stored in here, this doesn't have to go to a charity and you won't pay taxes for this, right?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_09]: No, no, in the, yeah, there's no, what do you have to sign?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_09]: Not a, not a, not a disclosure agreement, it's none of them.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_09]: And nothing, nothing, it's, it's completely string free from the New York lottery.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_09]: Perfect.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_06]: I see the, I can't think.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I see the arrested somebody in the January six pipe bombing probe.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_09]: Remember that?
- 9:46[SPEAKER_09]: I do.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_09]: and that was kind of weird.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_09]: And that was kind of covered up during the Biden years, but now maybe the refining of who did it.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_09]: You got to get closer to the mic.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_09]: You got to pull it out and get it right in.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_09]: Be friendly with it.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_09]: It's your friend.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_21]: OK.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, you said that, Mike, over there.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, OK. Now, we got a bunch of stuff going on again.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_09]: Now, you've been out of office a while.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_09]: But hopefully yours now.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, we've got another
- 10:13[SPEAKER_09]: Ethics cycle going here the first ethics complaint you generated against cliff only correct that's correct and that was way back in twenty twenty three okay and that basically went nowhere because the city council declined to move ahead with a hearing but i don't think they declined they just haven't preceded on it yet and uh... i'd like to remind the public too at that time back in twenty twenty three so we're talking two years ago
- 10:43[SPEAKER_21]: I did a foil request for the documents that I'm just getting now two years later, which I subsequently filed another foil request.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_09]: I've wondered whether that we're ever got a microphone problem.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_09]: Can you take it here?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I know, it sounds good, but grab that one over there.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_09]: See you.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_09]: can talk into that a little bit check check that all right the better sounds a little better yeah
- 11:13[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I go ahead and talk about that.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_21]: Well, I filed another foil.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_21]: I, you know, this is important to after my initial foil request, Councilwoman Regerro and only said they had no documents.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_21]: They didn't have any of these documents that are there now.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_21]: They, they were not existed.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_21]: So look, you were a mayor for 20 years, weren't you?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I never saw this before.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_21]: Did you file foil?
- 11:37[SPEAKER_09]: No, never.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, did you file foil?
- 11:40[SPEAKER_21]: If somebody foiled something did you follow?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, it didn't come up very often, but the staff just handled it, but you followed it when you were married.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_21]: Well, if somebody foiled something.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_09]: I would have wanted it for followed, yes.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_21]: It's somebody foiled information from you.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_21]: You would have followed it, right?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_21]: That's cool.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_21]: That's a law.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, but now they play hide and seek with everything.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_09]: And there's constant foil requests, not just from you, but from...
- 12:04[SPEAKER_09]: I've only had a couple.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, but they say they're extensive going back to 2020, isn't it?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_21]: Well, their corruption is extensive, in my opinion.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_21]: The fact that they're sending emails back and forth to developers,
- 12:17[SPEAKER_21]: uh... better involved in multi-million dollar deals they're getting talking points from developers you know you got cliff and and and at least a saying they would never do this stuff and and and we want to be transparent that anything but but maybe when cliff was talking about all this transparency stuff he was looking in the mirror
- 12:37[SPEAKER_09]: But maybe they got talked into these deals, a pig and a poke, if you will.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_09]: But does it get a bag of money?
- 12:45[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_21]: Did they?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_21]: I don't look at it.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_21]: In my opinion, they either got a bag of money.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know how much.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_21]: Somebody could ask us, my opinion, or this denogger for out there.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_21]: or they are incredibly stupid.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_21]: Is it A or B?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_21]: Did they get money or they just plain old dumb?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_21]: But you know, because who does this?
- 13:06[SPEAKER_09]: But buying the golf course?
- 13:08[SPEAKER_21]: No, no, no, let's go back to point.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_09]: Why, deeper than just those two.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, that was Ken Mix was deepest.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_09]: No, no, no, no, no.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_09]: He changed the zoning on it so that...
- 13:15[SPEAKER_21]: The zoning was never changed.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_21]: The council voted in the zoning was not changed.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_21]: It wasn't changed.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_21]: That's not a true statement, but let's go back.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_21]: The golf course could have been purchased by the city for $500,000.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_21]: And at the time, Lisa and Cliff were adamantly against it, and some of their arguments were too much money.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_21]: But lo and behold, their friends get in there, and 3.4 million is a good buy.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_21]: So who are these folks representing?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_21]: They're supposed to run and represent the residents, the taxpayers, the city of Watertown.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_21]: They don't follow the rules.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_21]: They lie about foil requests.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_21]: and now that it's all coming down they're saying well we only got a few weeks left at what you're obsessed with this no no no because it's wrong it's just playing wrong that maybe i look at running for office and representing people different than other people maybe they looked at as an opportunity
- 14:13[SPEAKER_21]: for something, I don't know.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_21]: But I think that when you represent the taxpayers, you're supposed to look at and say, what are they getting out of this?
- 14:22[SPEAKER_21]: What's in the best interest of the city of Watertown?
- 14:25[SPEAKER_21]: A golf course that continually loses money and the loss of the revenue upfront or fixing streets, fixing things that need to be done.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_09]: No, we have a lot of things that quote lose money.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_09]: That's why they're in government.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_09]: So I mean, a lot of people are critical of the
- 14:44[SPEAKER_21]: 11 plus million government shouldn't be there called to make money, but they should be run it should be run efficiently and effectively to try to come as close to even Okay, but it hasn't all of these this ship has sailed
- 14:59[SPEAKER_21]: No, it hasn't.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_21]: We're still getting stuff out here.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_21]: You know, you sent us a letter to the state controller at requesting a review.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_21]: And I might follow up on your letter.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_21]: And I think that's it.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_21]: I think you brought up a great point.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_21]: This should be reviewed by the state controller.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_21]: Because there's emails in here where Lisa's asking at the time Bob slides advice on something.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_21]: Bob's lies giving a legal response and they're sending it directly to the people that got $3.4 million out of this deal.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_21]: That is behind the scenes that is unethical.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_21]: I'm not an attorney.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_21]: I'm not even an attorney in the European model that cliff is.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_21]: But that is got to be illegal and these deals can be undone.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know how you in good conscious can say I'm representing you folks By the way, you show up at a public meeting the mayor says you can speak.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_21]: We're gonna vote to overrule his ruling to let you speak But we just had So you still have you still have contact or communication with the current city attorney
- 16:04[SPEAKER_21]: Kristen Smith.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_21]: No, I mean, I only got a response on my foil request after your life's office.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_09]: You had a meeting in her office in service.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_21]: So that was with the state police.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_21]: So the state police set up a meeting.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_21]: It was in her office.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_21]: And she just sat in on it as a representative of the city.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_09]: Clock was running on that for her.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, she was making money on it.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_21]: She didn't make 3.4 million.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_09]: Well,
- 16:32[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, she's doing her job as is the attorney to the city.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_09]: But you weren't the mayor, so she wasn't representing you anyway.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_21]: No, representing the city.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_21]: Then that her job to represent the city of Watertown.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_21]: This involved two council members, sitting council members.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_09]: So she sort of in on trying to nail these council members because the genesis of this latest ethics complaint was her.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_09]: They said, she brought forth.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_21]: concerns over emails that she was researching for a foil request I don't know who's foil that was my foil request I foil these documents again so I knew from my initial foil
- 17:09[SPEAKER_21]: Um, but I didn't have them, but I did have some from cliff because when you blind carbon copy people, and somebody accidentally hits reply all, you get that.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_21]: I got a few of those, saying anything.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_09]: I got one from Timbalty, other than because I was on the list.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_21]: Well, you were on the blind carbon, so you get that.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_21]: So I had some of the information that,
- 17:31[SPEAKER_21]: Uh, you know, Carl's from the Einstein there, accidentally hit blind cut and respond to all and I had the information that he was sending this stuff.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_21]: Look, there are documents in here that Cliff is sharing and Lisa are sharing on trivial constituent questions, fire department contract information, opinions, it's just
- 17:54[SPEAKER_21]: It's literally insane.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_09]: I agree the amount of emails from all parties is insane.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_09]: Everybody, they're sending them to everybody.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_09]: And then they're mad because somebody read it.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_09]: We didn't want to read it.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_21]: You know what?
- 18:07[SPEAKER_21]: You and I are from the old school.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_21]: You know, when something's not to get foiled, you pick up the phone and you call.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_21]: Foiled my phone call.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_09]: For the younger generation, listening, when you say carbon,
- 18:18[SPEAKER_09]: that refers to carbon paper which we don't use in it.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_09]: It means a car.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_09]: All right, we had, when we had somebody trying to, oh, we do have somebody trying to call.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's take the call, Mayor.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, around the air.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_11]: Hi, Mayor.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_11]: You know, I, I was, everyone really enjoyed when you have a guest on like this and I enjoy listening to both of you and please don't take this the wrong way and I think I kind of represent everyone in the
- 18:46[SPEAKER_11]: The opinion is kind of goes back to a three-stuages episode.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_11]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
- 19:02[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_09]: Well, thanks for calling.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_21]: And I get that there's a there's a constituent out there that wants it to be over and it doesn't want to hear it anymore people are tired of yeah I get it but the reality is is city tax payers out all of this money millions of dollars in annually annually they continue to lose more money and the golf course so it's technically not over guess what it just came up again a few weeks ago when you're reviewing budgets.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you're trying to come up again because they have to decide what to do with the golf They own the golf course, they have to decide what to do with it What do you want down?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_09]: Would you close it and do is it or what would you do?
- 19:37[SPEAKER_21]: Well, of course, that's a different topic, but I think they've got a couple of options.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_21]: But back to this.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, do you think is it your merit for 20 years?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_21]: Would you think that this is all right to happen?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_21]: I was on the council eight of your 20 years.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_21]: And none of this, you know, emails, none of these executive session stuff were sent to the public or developers or people.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_21]: Because you know what?
- 20:04[SPEAKER_21]: That's,
- 20:05[SPEAKER_09]: not we're supposed to do you well the golf course there was some modest controversy when we were I was in office over again the owner arrives was complaining because it was they were getting a he thought a sweet heart deal and it they had a competitive advantage or he had to pay the full boat on taxes over there and all of that and there was some validity to that but um... but don't you recall that's mindful that that's what some man says and that's what only say that
- 20:31[SPEAKER_21]: that contract when you were mayor that was unanimously passed was my fault that contract that was upheld by the state supreme court in the appell division out of Rochester which held that contract up and they keep telling people it's illegal and you're going to lose parkland it was held up by two courts the last court was unanimous so can't be it can't be appealed but they don't
- 20:59[SPEAKER_09]: Mayor, he sounds like Captain Quig in the cane mutant.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_09]: He asked him about the strawberries.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_09]: I don't recall that.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_21]: The strawberries are good out of season though.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_21]: OK. Well, you know, the next question is, you got a councilwoman, Rijero.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_21]: She's on two county boards.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_21]: JCIDA in the planning board.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_21]: She's sharing information over there.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_21]: All right, let's cut this.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_21]: It should you be.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_09]: I agree, people aren't interested because they aren't really calling that much about it.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_09]: And there was a very little talk about it in the election campaign.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_09]: They said they wanted to hold off releasing this latest ethics complaint until after the election.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_09]: And yet whether you had an effect on things, whether you released it early or late, or if you released it, if you didn't original it.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_09]: No, the one that we're considering now, the other one's dead in the water, I think.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_21]: No, it's still there.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_21]: It just hasn't been acted upon.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_21]: Well, I would disagree with you hardly to say that people are not interested in this.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_21]: I agree with the caller earlier that there is a group of people that are kind of just all right, it's done and over with.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_21]: There's a great majority that will talk out there and talk in the election because how did it go for those that voted for these deals and have doing these crooked, in my opinion.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_21]: Actions of the they do well you're happy with the election results you're guy one finished first I might might might might keep my person I endorse one.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_21]: Okay, but he's good.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_21]: I don't think my endorsement other than my family votes Probably you know probably cost or more yeah could have cost But not enough to be a number one.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_09]: Well, there you go.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_09]: So he's he's gonna be in there.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_09]: So
- 22:34[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, here's the time frame.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_09]: It is now December 4th.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_09]: They got an after-export meeting at three o'clock on Monday.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_09]: Now Mr. Levin thought all the regular attorney and these are separate cases.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_21]: And Samo attorney.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_21]: I got a seat on the same topic.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_21]: Tell me how that's not a conflict.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_09]: Well, probably.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_21]: I know you can sign a piece of paper or all this stuff, but the reality is that is a conflict.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_09]: aside from that.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_09]: She's got representation.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_09]: Mr. Olney doesn't they got separate sets of emails in their evidence packet.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_09]: So they're really separate cases.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_09]: And what's that board of ethics going to do at three o'clock on a Monday afternoon?
- 23:12[SPEAKER_09]: You got to have work session at night.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_09]: Mr. Levin thought the attorney for regeros says he wants to review every email.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_09]: That's going to take a while.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_21]: I don't want to delay delay delay delay.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_21]: Let's get out of office.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_21]: The question becomes this, and I think you've talked about it, and there are some people on the public, say, well, they're out of office in a month.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_21]: At what point do you have to stop following the rules?
- 23:35[SPEAKER_21]: At what point do you get to say, I'm not going to file for a little request?
- 23:39[SPEAKER_21]: At what point do you say, I'm not going to violate executive session?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_21]: At what point can you start taking money from people?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_21]: Well, you're a cute, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:10[SPEAKER_21]: because you yourself is said I don't think that we should proceed and I think they're out of office and people are spoken.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_21]: So my question to be to you is mayor.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_09]: I follow the rules, but I also understand bureaucracies and hierarchies and help them, you know.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_21]: But at what point can they do you feel that council members can say, it's close enough to the end of my term.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_21]: I don't have if Jeff Cole sends me a flow request.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_09]: But there's not even the ethics board, but God bless Steve Jennings.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_09]: But it's sort of an unelected romp agency.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_09]: What right do they have to but smurch people's it?
- 24:43[SPEAKER_09]: Because that's what it is.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_09]: It's the equivalent of an indictment, isn't it?
- 24:47[SPEAKER_21]: They're just, they're making recommendations at the export.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_21]: So they, you know, they can say, we agree, disagree with other.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_21]: It's a recommendation only.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_21]: And then it's up to the council to hold that hearing and decide what they want to do.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_21]: Okay.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_09]: So, and they can remove them from office.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_09]: Let happen by December 31.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_21]: It could.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_21]: It is my opinion if they don't handle the ethics complaints or do something, then they should really disband the ethics board because...
- 25:18[SPEAKER_21]: It's a disservice to the members that are serving.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_21]: I'm not saying they have to follow the recommendation, but they should act on it one way or the other.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_21]: And if they don't do anything, then they should really just eliminate that section of the code about ethics and say, we're not going to follow anything.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_21]: You know, I guarantee you if the water tone times, and if Jeff Cole foiled me for something, and I lied about it, you'd see that blasted all over the paper and everything.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, all right.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_09]: Well, listen, we got to take a break here, okay?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_20]: We'll be back with more of the hotline and Mayor Jeff Smith in a moment.

- 29:11[SPEAKER_09]: Mayor, the boss was just in here.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_09]: He loved you.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_09]: He really liked.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_09]: He speaks well of your all the time.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_21]: Because he gets a check every month.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, is that how it works?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_21]: Thank you.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_21]: You got to check every month.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_21]: Well, whatever.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_09]: Things in the news.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_09]: You're right.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_09]: I'm a little tired of this.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_09]: There's a big flap going on.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_09]: they're trying desperately to limit the scope of weed jobs who were against marijuana dispensaries in town correct correct and they're trying to use zoning uh... you know the city council said that state law should by a majority said the state law should prevail whether you agree with that or not but they're trying to nickel and dime you'd like to the suboro lad so and so on uh...
- 30:01[SPEAKER_09]: And yet we've got like somebody's count 17 different smoke shops in town if those are two different things that one's selling tobacco and one is no what oh come on you're not that naive are you I don't know I don't I hope they're enforcing the rules and law but although also you know yeah but they're five dollar a pack cigarettes they're on tax cigarettes well I think if we if we were to foil more emails we could get
- 30:25[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know about that, but I don't know about that.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know about what he said.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, they're fighting this out in Southampton and Long Island.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, they're okay.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_21]: So I'm not an office now, but the first question I would ask, and I ask myself, is how does this benefit the city of Watertown?
- 30:40[SPEAKER_21]: Now, you'll have those that say the sales tax, we get more sales tax, and how much do we actually get once you boil it all down?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_09]: Not a lot.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_09]: Put some.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_21]: Okay, get some.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_21]: So is that outweigh?
- 30:53[SPEAKER_21]: How many people are going to want to buy homes and put up other stores or businesses around your local weed shop?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_09]: People I don't know.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_09]: People in the United States.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_09]: There's a liquor store or Washington Street Plaza and people have houses there.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of people would say, get rid of the liquor stores.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, I don't know.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, if it, listen, I don't.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_09]: On balance, probably weeds, not good for society, but on the other hand,
- 31:23[SPEAKER_21]: P.A.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_21]: Well, I mean, I guess that's a question if these people that, you know, think there's no harm or anything, whether they want their position that's going to do surgery on them the night before to get stoned.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_21]: Is that okay?
- 31:36[SPEAKER_21]: Did they be like, yes, you know, go on.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_09]: You know?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_21]: I don't think so.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_09]: Well, whatever you got drunk, but night before.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_21]: I wouldn't agree with that either.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I don't know.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, that's probably been going on.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_09]: I remember the old days when he always used to say, and the black River Valley Club was open.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_09]: And if you wanted to get a good decision from one of the local judges, you better get it in the morning, because once they go down there for lunch, you know.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, you don't know what's going to happen in the afternoon session.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_09]: So, you know, we have all this faith in the core professionals, lawyers and doctors and all of that.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_09]: And there is full of it as a rest of us, aren't they?
- 32:16[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_21]: Some would say, I mean, there's some people that say city staff are terrorists.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_21]: I don't know.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_21]: I wouldn't say that.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_09]: Well, the council person says that.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_09]: Well, we'll get back to that.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_09]: We got a call right here though.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_09]: Hello, you're on the air.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_08]: Hi, Jeff.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_08]: I was wondering why you were mayor.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_08]: Did you ever think about having peat monocle as a city manager?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know who you're asking, but.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_08]: I think the city managers are doing a great job.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_21]: I think he's very intelligent.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_21]: I think he's extremely qualified.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_21]: You know, one of the problems with any city manager in the future.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_21]: And it night shared the charter commission for former Mayor Butler.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_21]: And one of the changes that we recommended was, you've got to change the number of years you can give somebody a contract.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_21]: How can you expect somebody to uproot, move, whether it's a block down the street, 100 miles to a community with a two-year-only contract?
- 33:43[SPEAKER_21]: It's that just is not logical and it's up to the council to decide what they wanted to do and the council modified the contract and that's in perfectly legal.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_21]: That's their right.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_09]: This is on the residency thing.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you, sir.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_09]: I'll pursue it with him.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I want to ask you because you were in on that one.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_09]: And I want hiring Mr. Wagner.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_09]: That was discussed.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_09]: Was it sort of a wink of the eye thing?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_09]: We'll put this language in here because that you don't really have to do it?
- 34:17[SPEAKER_21]: No, and he actually was looking for places in the city of Washington.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_21]: It wasn't any wink of the eye, and then the council, and they allowed him to change the contract.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_21]: That's perfectly legal.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_09]: Not sure they abandoned the contract.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_09]: They changed the law.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_09]: They put an extent.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, but you don't have to agree with it, but it's within their rights to do that.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_21]: And that's what they did.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_21]: Well, I understand that.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_21]: Good reasons.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_09]: Now, they're talking again every week.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_09]: They go into executive session to talk about this contract.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know why the two outgoing ones are.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_09]: The big dispute now is on medical insurance.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_09]: and you saw this trend and I didn't agree with it, but when he was hired, he was on the federal government medical plan.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_09]: Was that a selling point in other words?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_21]: It wasn't constant in the city any extra money.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_09]: So that that made you more able to pay what perhaps the salary he wanted?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_21]: Well, it wasn't a salary as a negotiation.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_21]: There's back and forth.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, but if he's say if they say we're saving a city twenty four thousand dollars by not being in the health plan That's that's good.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, yeah, but now the people I guess him and others they all want to be compensated even though they're on another plan So a fire cap or police captain.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_09]: It was married to a fireman
- 35:29[SPEAKER_09]: and they both are on city health care but they want to want to get a bonus because they're married to a city employee.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_09]: I don't agree with that.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_09]: I'd rather it's a city manager around down.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_09]: I think if you get health insurance that's great.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_09]: It's a great blessing.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_09]: But
- 35:44[SPEAKER_21]: I think you have to look at individual things that you're talking about contract negotiations and you talk about an individual person because everything's a little policy.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, everybody.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_21]: Everything's a little bit different.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_09]: Um, well, what are they going to do with him?
- 35:57[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, uh, Mr. Wagoners, he's staying or going.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_21]: not on the council.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I don't know either.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_21]: I think they'd be crazy.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_21]: The let them go.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_09]: I mean.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_09]: Well, what's the big thing about having a contract now, using with the two lame dogs, controversial lame ducks, who have been indicted for ethics violations, for wanting to use the harsh term?
- 36:21[SPEAKER_09]: Why should they even be in on that?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_21]: They don't have to be.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_21]: You could wait until the, you know, his contracts up literally at the end of the month.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_21]: I think I, I worked with him as city manager as a city manager for four or five days.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_21]: So there's not a reason you couldn't just reappointment.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_09]: You don't really even need a contract.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_21]: You could just, you know, tentatively.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_21]: You can work for the city without a contract.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_21]: You could, I mean, you could accept the resolution, but you could extend the current contract for a week or month or whatever until the new council comes in and let them deal with it.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_21]: That's fine.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_09]: Because the contract only really provides six months severance if they get fired for, you know, pull it.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_21]: Whatever's negotiated.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_09]: So you're happy with the arrangement, Mr. Monaco?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_09]: What's your think at him?
- 37:10[SPEAKER_09]: I thought he was going to win.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_09]: But he was the one who was on the radio talking about having to make real cuts.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_09]: You think that scared people?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_09]: The other ones weren't really talking about cutting anything.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_21]: No, I don't think so.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_21]: I don't think that scared people because that's going to, that's what's going to have to happen.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_21]: The reality is going to, you've got to cut something.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_21]: So are you going to continue?
- 37:33[SPEAKER_09]: Well, are they going to go after the fire department again?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I mean, do you think they sure whatever you were in on that?
- 37:40[SPEAKER_21]: 50.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_21]: Also, I know it was the last time when we were in negotiations and mediation and stuff.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_21]: The media had come back and said, this time, you should give more to the foreign department.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_21]: We did, and the next time the foreign department, but you've been there, you were there 20 years.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_21]: They don't give up anything.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_21]: They want to look.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_21]: I think somebody was at your show or Glenn show or somebody show, read the number of calls.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_21]: Police and fire did.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_21]: I think Thanksgiving did.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_21]: It was sweet or one.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_10]: Something like that.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_21]: And, you know, I'm not anti-fire, I voted for the fire trucks, I voted for their equipment.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_21]: In fact, I was the one that brought the one to the city of Comptroller and said before interest rates go up, we might want to buy another engine sooner and we did.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_21]: But the reality is is they always want the same thing to police department gets.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_21]: They always want the same pay, they want the same everything.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_21]: I would be like, okay, you want the same pay.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_21]: Then you've got to do the same number of calls.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_21]: You don't get to sleep overnight.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_21]: You take the beds out.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_21]: Police department doesn't go laid on and sleeps somewhere, do they?
- 38:48[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, well, I mean,
- 38:51[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know what they do.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_21]: You were a mayor for 20 years.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_21]: Good, don't hide, come on.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_21]: I did call him yesterday.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_21]: half-way house across the street the door was open all day was good day for national grid yeah because you're paying the bill yeah taxpayers pay the bill you should do that though i don't need a divert here because there's a lot of times and i don't get to listen to the show during the week i get to listen to play back and sometimes on a Thursday or Friday but there's a lot of times people call and you know the answer
- 39:21[SPEAKER_21]: And you should really correct them instead of letting misinformation go on.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_21]: For example, the city court, somebody told me recently somebody called about the city court and said that I didn't save the city money and this money that's being proposed had nothing to do with the second court.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_21]: That is absolutely false.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_21]: By the city not needing to build an add-on to city hall, we saved anywhere from $5 to $10 million.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_21]: And that's probably one of the persons or people that said, you know what, Smith's going to cost us all this money and the state's going to take it back and force this to do it anyways.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_21]: And that didn't happen.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_21]: The fact is, as we passed home rule legislation, Senator Wallsick, was he someone that was, some of him gray wasn't there at the time?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_21]: Whoever, right for me out.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, Glenn moment here and they carried the water force and all but we got that sign and got it done.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_21]: We saved millions and millions of dollars, unfortunately, people turned around and bought it.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_09]: Of course with it, but what about what's the more egregious problem?
- 40:37[SPEAKER_09]: The golf course or building a pool on the north side that you felt it had made.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_21]: It's not a matter of where a pool is built.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and now they got the other ones vacant and they refused to take it out of the ground.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_21]: I think, you know, the reality is what are the needs of the community in 2025?
- 40:56[SPEAKER_21]: What are the costs, what are the recurring costs, and how does the benefit the whole city?
- 41:01[SPEAKER_21]: Hmm.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_21]: So, so I think that's important.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_09]: I think one pool would be adequate for a city this size.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_21]: That's what the statistics and numbers show.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, can you go swim right now in one of the pools?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_21]: The reality is that you get three and a half months maybe, and it costs $250,000 a year to operate in the individual pool so you're talking half a million dollars.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_21]: Now, unless the city is flush with unbelievable cash that they can just throw it away, it doesn't make logical sense.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_21]: People want to beat me up, and I was a champion of it, the ice arena.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_21]: That's fine.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_21]: The city has one ice arena, and it's open, and it's not just for ice hockey, figure skating, home shows, concerts, all kinds of things that happen and go on at that facility.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_21]: It's used year-round.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_21]: And the goal should be is, how can we operate this facility that benefits the community that comes as close as possible to break even?
- 42:01[SPEAKER_21]: How many golf courses are already here in the city of Watertown or the County of Jefferson are stone throws away?
- 42:08[SPEAKER_10]: Hmm.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_21]: Why did this city, well, there's the other thing.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_21]: What would you do with it?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_21]: Get rid of it?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_21]: I think you got three options.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_21]: You can leave it and let it overgrow.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_21]: and save on the cost.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_21]: You can ask for home rule legislation to sell it, which would be my choice.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_09]: They're for all to get.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_21]: I just got it on the court, so it's not impossible.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_09]: But you're going to have to produce equivalent parkland, but you're going to have to grab.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_21]: Let's let's talk about the parkland too, because that's another fallacy put out there.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_21]: We return parkland.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_21]: the nine holes that were just obtained for the golf course and the bat nine holes were never let me repeat we're never part of the homestead design or the original park the bat nine holes that the city owned prior were bought in the forties or fifties and then the current were just bought so when people say we're
- 43:06[SPEAKER_21]: not a true statement.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_21]: It was never parking.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_21]: It was never part of the original homestead parking.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_21]: How about we utilize the existing?
- 43:14[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, you've seen it all the overgrowth that when they're starting to clear it up now and started when I was mayor.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_21]: It looks good up there now.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_21]: How about we utilize what we had?
- 43:23[SPEAKER_09]: I saw Brian Ashley with a chain saw.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_09]: He was caught in the down.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_21]: It was a Canadian chain saw.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_21]: So it was only doing 70% of the work.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_09]: There you go.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_09]: Well, any
- 43:35[SPEAKER_09]: you have to look at where you are now.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_21]: So I go from home to legislation to sell it.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_09]: To who?
- 43:41[SPEAKER_21]: Whoever wants to buy it.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_09]: You.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, but it's still.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_21]: Maybe one of the developers will come and pay the actual price of the button.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_09]: It sits up.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_09]: It sits up there and it's viewed as part of the park because of its proximity.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_21]: Okay.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_21]: So you just, what about the adjacent land to the existing land?
- 44:01[SPEAKER_21]: Is that viewed as part of the park?
- 44:02[SPEAKER_21]: You just keep buying and buying.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_21]: I mean, that argument can just go on saying, like, this land of bots should, should the lottery pool be demolished?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_21]: It should be now.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see who's on the phone here.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, we got to do a commercial break.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_09]: I'm sorry.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_09]: We got to do that.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_09]: First, then we'll take the phone call.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_20]: Don't say it often enough.

- 46:30[SPEAKER_30]: Dave worked at two jobs for years, till he was able to get his Harley, his first ride cruising toward Lake Placid and a car pulls out in his lane, no room for Dave, he had no choice into the woods.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_30]: Rehabilitation, a long word and even longer for Dave, painful procedures.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_30]: It was obvious who was it fault, but it didn't matter to the insurance company, claimed and died.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_30]: That's when he called me, Joe Stanley.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_30]: He had five questions, I had 10.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_30]: After 30 minutes, we were both crystal clear on what's next.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_30]: The tenacity twins, Tony and Tessa knew the goal, the maximum award.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_30]: Last week, Dave walked into my office, hugged Tessa, shook hands with Tony, and thanked me for getting him back on his feet, where Stanley Law.

- 48:15[SPEAKER_09]: So hectic in these type of shows when we have someone like the former mayor in here because we don't we can't get the current when's the current mayor coming in I ask her again yesterday I don't know she was on CNN this week my god That's good.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, it's great Maybe she'll get some some more people voted for remember I went over a post for a picture with you and you and Butler and everybody and and her
- 48:38[SPEAKER_09]: And I came over on election night.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_09]: I came to a party down at the Crystal Post for a Frank Truth.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_09]: She's doing well.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_21]: Even though I was on it, I think she's doing very well.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_21]: I think she'll do even better.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_21]: I think the council will do much better with less of the distractions gone in January.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_21]: But you know, again, why does it matter?
- 48:58[SPEAKER_21]: I think that if you're run for office, you should be in there's certain rules.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_21]: You should have to follow them.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_21]: For example, those people that say, well, you know, there's only a few months left and it wasn't that big of a deal and nobody got hurt and I'm just going to use this as illustrative purposes only I apologize if anybody's offended.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_21]: But let's say the new council member elect up as born comes in and he's got a buddy that's a contractor and it's not been shown it's somebody else should he be able to give inside information to his buddy the contractor that can get more business and more contracts even though that's not allowed and you're not supposed to do that.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_21]: is it really hurting anybody or is there a certain point in time if he's not running for office or he doesn't get reelected that he can start doing that?
- 49:49[SPEAKER_21]: I don't think so.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_21]: I think you got to follow the rules from beginning to end and you can't take your attorney's advice and stuff on sales.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_21]: At a minimum, they should have refused them.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_21]: Look, these emails show that they were getting talking points.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_21]: And what to say at the council meetings?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_21]: Right.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_21]: They were clearly colluding and working with these developers.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_09]: Both of them.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_21]: And they're getting talking points up.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_21]: No, there's no real electrical issues or anything.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_21]: At a minimum, and they should have disclosed it and refused themselves.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_21]: Well, we got to call it here.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_09]: So let's do that.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_09]: Go ahead.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_09]: You got to be quick.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_06]: I'd like to know why Mr. Smith's bashing the north side from one.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_06]: In two, why aren't to the sidewalks being shovels in the street in three?
- 50:40[SPEAKER_06]: Why weren't to sidewalks for 40 years ago when you people were in office?
- 50:46[SPEAKER_06]: Both, yes, there are mayors in this city.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_06]: The sidewalks haven't been fixed at all.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_06]: When I walk, I got to walk on a road.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_06]: Last time I walked on a road after a five o'clock.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_06]: I got stopped by a city club and he told me to get out of the road.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_06]: And why is it our new mayor making sure the sidewalks are fixed and also cleaned what post no on the main sidewalks the site's streets the sidewalks are comparable and also on the uh... come on questions down there about the uh... arena you people are told forty years ago to go ahead we place the arena back dead
- 51:34[UNKNOWN]: double the money to replace it now they're losing.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, all right.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you sir.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you very much.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_21]: Oh, he's got a lot going on if I can hit him.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_21]: So 40 years ago I wasn't on the council actually was in high school still as for the north side and we were just talking offline about this I don't dislike the north side my parents my mother my uncle my grandparents my great grandparents all Grow up and live down the north side see more street mill street State Mary street that's where my family's from in fact my grandfather
- 52:07[SPEAKER_21]: On your bar, you had the first motel of the city water town, Vick's bar and grill, which is what you own now.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_21]: Right.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_21]: No collusion there as for what were some of those other things for the sidewalk program.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_21]: I actually started a sidewalk program with, you know, I have to defend your record.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_21]: I don't defend mine, it's I've been out of offer.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_21]: The right information should be given.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_21]: There is.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_09]: Well, all the right information is coming up right now.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_20]: Get into it, and you'll be amazed what you get out of it.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_00]: We've uncovered a conspiracy in the North Country.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, I'm Mark Tegarelli.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_00]: We're in a shirt trove of Jefferson County.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_24]: This is Joy from Taco Joy.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_09]: Hey, this is Luke with Mark's greenhouse.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_09]: This is Steve S. celebrations.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_09]: Your jewelry destination.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_27]: Hi, this is Katie from Edible Arena.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: They're all secretly meeting.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_00]: actually they're not meeting.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: They just all figured out the same thing.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: Radio advertising brings customers call community broadcasters at 315-782-1240.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: The only secret is that radio works.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_28]: Ladies and gentlemen, North Country truck people.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_28]: It's your boy, Junior Daco, if you like the trucks that turn heads, growl in the cold, and make your neighbor ask, where'd you get that thing?
- 53:26[SPEAKER_28]: You need to get down here ASAP.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_28]: We're at the enormous lot here at FX Prepare Honda, and we're talking one of a kind pre-owned trucks, the good stuff.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_28]: GMC's, Chevy's, Ford's, Toyota's, Ram's and Nissan's, lifted rigs, or courses, chrome monsters, everything, and old baby plow trucks.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_28]: Yeah, not rusty junkers, I'm talking clean rigs, with complete loud kits already installed.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_28]: You can literally leave the lock and start hitting driveways by dinner.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_28]: And check this out because this is where it gets spiced.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_28]: Right now through the end of the month at FXCoverra Honda 90 days, no payment.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_28]: That means it's no-can-fall, the winking-house, and you won't owe a penny until spring.

- 54:12[SPEAKER_28]: Your name is before you get home.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_07]: But the warm glow of the dial and the crackle of the past fill your Sunday nights from Motown to the Mersey Beach.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_07]: Sunday night only says you're a weekly journey to the best music ever made.

- 54:50[SPEAKER_18]: The only fully automated redemption center in the area.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_18]: Your account is done fast right before your eyes, so you're on your way quicker.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_18]: Depend on the team of dedicated employees who do this as efficiently as possible because this is what they do, so you can get in and on your way without the hassle.

- 55:12[SPEAKER_18]: Bring your cans and bottles today.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_18]: They do the rest.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_20]: The North Country spells news, M-1240, W-A-T-N, Watertown, depend on it.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, we're back with Mayor Jeff Smith.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_09]: The gentlemen are called.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_09]: He's going to be perpetually angry at all of us.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_09]: He'll find it problematic in your life having to defend things that you had nothing to do with for years.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_09]: You know what I mean?
- 55:39[SPEAKER_21]: Well, you do, and the only thing is, it's not so much of defending.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_21]: I just want people to have correct information.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_21]: That would be the best.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_21]: And here's examples of, we talked about it earlier in the show.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_21]: You got people talking about these deals at the park.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_21]: Somal was one of them only sub-par at least.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_21]: I don't hear only complaining about the $1 or $5 or $6 rent to the clubhouse with free electricity as being sub-par.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_21]: the reality is is, we had a good lease, we got taxes, they pay taxes on the property, they didn't even own, and the city made money, it didn't lose money, and those deals were held up in court, not just in the state Supreme Court, but the opposition.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_21]: So when people go around and say, well, you're going to lose Parkland, and this is illegal, the public should have the correct information.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_21]: And that's what I just want people to be corrected on is.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_09]: I think the public's checked out, $3,100 out of $13,000 people who are registered voted, even in last year's presidential race only half the people 18 and older voted in this county.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_21]: Look at the people that voted when you and I first ran for office.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_09]: Well, for sure, I ran $7,200 people voted in the mayoral race.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_21]: And that was probably considered low.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_09]: But over 10,000 voted when Merrick Alvin got elected in 1963.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, I don't know why people are not involved.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_21]: Well, I don't know.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_09]: There's no civics taught anymore in the schools.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_09]: We know that.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_09]: Everything, I think it's a lot of it.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_09]: It is people just think it's out of control.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_21]: I think there's some real good art classes.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_09]: I know that it's anatomically correct and all of that.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_09]: What do you think of that stuff?
- 57:27[SPEAKER_09]: You only got a second here to talk, but you got kids Mr.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_09]: Herring, the artist passed away, so we don't want to speak ill of them, but there's certain, there's a copy-ness art.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, that's for certain population, it's certain people.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_21]: I don't think it belongs in a high school, and I don't think it perpetuates or makes things better about teaching the kids, you know, English, math, art is like, you know,
- 57:54[SPEAKER_21]: You know, Remington, the local guy here, you know, it's pretty close.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_09]: I've always read Remington.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_09]: I doubt that teacher knew who Frederick Remington was.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_21]: How about the art in the flower library?
- 58:07[SPEAKER_09]: There is art in there that's, yeah, nobody even knows about that.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_09]: Really valuable.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_09]: You and I found out about that work.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_09]: I'm sorry.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_09]: You're not allowed to talk about that, you know?
- 58:17[SPEAKER_09]: It's like the Louvre over there, you know?
- 58:19[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody's going to walk off with it.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I don't know.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_09]: Well, yeah, there's a lot of that.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_09]: We got one call.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_09]: We'll take this real quick, but they're going to have to talk quick.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_09]: Go ahead.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_21]: You're on the air.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_21]: Okay, I mean, I don't think I don't know if he's a pun in a one-month shelter.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, come on.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_21]: I'm picking on that man Well, I thought that's all the other one the other one.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, they want to cr... and then there's the one going up by the post office I don't fall off the edge Johnny.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_21]: I will go to it if I get an invitation.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_09]: The homeless are living well.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_09]: There's no doubt about it And that's good.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_21]: I guess Well, I'm just gonna put a shameless plug in for probably one of the best drinks you can get
- 59:02[SPEAKER_09]: Tom and Jerry's that's the crystal yeah that's good and I don't know what oh first of all the trees is going on through Sunday at the state office building.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_21]: That's nice That is that's a good local event and then there's Christmas parade for eight coming up 12 once a 12 Not today for days for four you can look around over your shoulder eight days from today
- 59:24[SPEAKER_09]: Other shoulders a calendar on the wall.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_09]: You know what those are you?
- 59:27[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if they talk that when you were in school That's a calendar Yeah Well, there's a Saturday No, wait Oh, that's next year's calendar.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_09]: It's not a Friday.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_21]: Yeah, that's right.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_09]: We're ahead of a game here Okay, thank you very much.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_09]: May I have for coming in?
