- 0:02As science begins to recognize the fact that there are ranges
- 0:05of vibration outside of the limited scope that we can
- 0:09normally experience, and that countless reports of perceptions
- 0:14that are inexplicable based on the outermost physical reality
- 0:17that we have heretofore treated as our sole reality, we have
- 0:22seen a breaking down of the narrow and blinkered approach to
- 0:26knowing that has ruled humanity for so many millennia.
- 0:31The insights provided by quantum mechanics have also greatly
- 0:35upset our formerly orderly world view about things and force us
- 0:40to look at reality from an entirely new perspective.
- 0:44Thus, we see that numerous scientists have developed
- 0:47experiments to explore the field of consciousness, to test the
- 0:51potential for extrasensory perception, and in particular,
- 0:56to try to determine the reality and scope of telepathy, distance
- 1:01viewing, clairvoyance, clairaudience, and telekinesis,
- 1:06among other things. It should also be noted that the
- 1:10Russian military and that of the United States have invested
- 1:15considerable resources in developing units of individuals
- 1:18capable of one or more of these powers of perception or action,
- 1:23and not without considerable results.
- 1:27In particular, the power of distance viewing has been tested
- 1:31and actually developed into a systematic methodology that many
- 1:35individuals can actually learn and apply.
- 1:39Sometimes such individuals have been made part of police
- 1:42investigations which otherwise had reached dead ends, and
- 1:46sometimes with very notable results.
- 1:50Of course, as with any new power of perception, there is a
- 1:54certain amount of translation and interpretation of the
- 1:57signals that have been received, with corresponding errors in
- 2:01interpretation and application. Thus, one must exercise care in
- 2:06attributing any specific result to such a cult action.
- 2:11Yet we find a similar failure of interpretation and understanding
- 2:15with our physical senses as well.
- 2:18While we frequently repeat the proverb seeing is believing,
- 2:22there is no doubt that this is not quite as failure proof as
- 2:27the proverb would indicate, Shriorobindo writes quote
- 2:33constantly asserted by human experience and belief since the
- 2:37origins of thought. This truth, now that the
- 2:40necessity of an exclusive preoccupation with the secrets
- 2:43of the material world no longer exists, begins to be justified
- 2:48by newborn forms of scientific research.
- 2:51The increasing evidences, of which only the most obvious and
- 2:55outward are established under the name of telepathy, with its
- 2:59cognate phenomena, cannot long be resisted except by minds shut
- 3:04up in the brilliant shell of the past, by intellects limited in
- 3:09spite of their acuteness, through the limitation of their
- 3:12field of experience and inquiry, or by those who confuse
- 3:16enlightenment and reason with the face.
- 3:19Full repetition of formulas left to us from a bygone century and
- 3:25the jealous conservation of dead were dying intellectual dogmas.
