- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Other shows, I'll show you law.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing I saw.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Mary.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: I eat Frankenberry.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we were talking about Frankenstein earlier.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: I ate Frankenberry.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what you weren't supposed to choke on.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, lunchtime trivia, which is a really cool trivia show that you can listen to during your lunch.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Don't have to get the answers correct.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: We don't want to give it.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: But you can have fun with it.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: And the other show is, can I call you that?
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're supposed to keep the show PG-13.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Andrew.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: PG-13, your old don't say that?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're not supposed to.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you get your mouth washed out with soap when you did that?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have soap when I was a kid.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, borax?
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: No, we didn't have that either.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Would you use to clean yourselves?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: The hose?
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: My first shower.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: I took when I got in the Navy.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: I was nine because you were on a bunch of salmon.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Nineteen before I ever took a shower.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Just you know.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, excuse me, sorry.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: That is true.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: I took baths, but I never took a shower.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it's that in clean.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't take showers.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait a minute.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lie.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: I took a shower in high school because I was in the on the wrestling team.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: And they made you take a shower in wrestling.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they didn't make you, but I wanted to.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I thought.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: says a lot.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: So the Oscars are a couple weeks away.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we are continuing.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you who don't know, we are continuing our shows that where we talk about best picture.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this shows about best picture, but we're recovering like the big five as far as awards are concerned.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: And next week's show will be best supporting
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Supporting.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: Supporting.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: So you agree with me that sometimes you're supporting actor should have gotten the best actor or no.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think there's several support.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that I'll shown the actor in my opinion.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: There are there are a couple.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: I could agree with you.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm that.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but that's not what the show is about.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: We'll save that conversation for that show.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Stay tuned.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: You can have to stay tuned folks.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: How do you friends?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, this week's show, of course we said, we're gonna talk about best pictures, we're gonna talk about our favorite best pictures.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's been to your winners.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Right, best picture winners.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you said winners and not a different way.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Right, because we know you're 12 today.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: So my 13, you know, Peter 13, he just said, oh, that's right, I forgot my dad.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: So the tip for you folks, yeah, yeah.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: just.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so we talk about movies that are coming out this weekend.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about a movie that we chose to review.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: We
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: didn't have a pick of movies from the movies that came out last week that we were kind of like, oh yeah, I gotta go see that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Although I did see Scream 7 and it's pretty much what you expected.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a fan of the Scream films, I think you're going to enjoy it.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of really cool calm camisels and it was, it was just, I mean, it's, you know, it's what I expected it to be.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: is it blockbuster, you know, best picture, ask type stuff?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, of course not.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Is it your horror movie that horror slasher movie that just, everyone's in why you just got to see one because your horror slasher movie fan?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Not my cup of tea.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: I watched it if we had to watch it to review it.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: Those have never been my cup of tea.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it's all good.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just was, I didn't say what?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Interjecting some flavor for this week, just because of the fact that I did see it.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought it was, you know, it was entertaining.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: It did its thing.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would probably watch it again, but I tend to watch these movies a few times because I like to look.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: I like to do a lot of continuity checks because I find horror movies are trotious.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I know, that's my 25% word for today.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: But, or most horror movies are atrocious with continuity, and it's kind of like my fun game, so to speak.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: But speaking of fun, coming up this week, our movies are considered.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now, remember, these are movies that are not in limited release.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: These are movies that are considered to be like nationwide releases.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Because there is a movie that is in limited release this week.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: That actually deserves a nod, but a little bit of a conversation to up because I think it's going to become
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: If it does well, I think it's going to become probably a nationwide one.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's the protector, which we had talked about before.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: Milla Jovevic, Jovevic, Jovevic, is in it.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: Matthew Modines in it, D.B.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: Sweetie.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a great cast.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: It looks interesting.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: It just has you, D.N.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: and J.B. Sweetie.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I was like the lineup for dance with the star.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got Miller to the mixture.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Corbin Dallas multipass.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Name the movie.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, those honorable mention on that one, I do not know if it's going to be available in your area, like I said, it's limited release.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's also what we tend not to talk about them, because this program can be listened to pretty much anywhere.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: So we try to stick to things that are going to be like major, motion, major releases, so to speak.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: And with that in mind, one movie that I've been hotly anticipating for at least a month now, from watching it on the trailers, is called The Bright.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Bright, yes.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: And coincidentally enough, the gal that plays The Bright,
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: uh... is not married you that but also um... she looks a lot like a very famous singer like very famous and every time i see the movie i think it's her every time i see the preview i think it's her really and i finally went through and figured out who she was now the galou plays the bride her name is Jesse buckley but i always think it's lady gaga see i thought that too right initially
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Because I was like, why would she do this?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Because she did American Horror Story.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that's kind of her thing.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: So Christian Bales into he plays the monster.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he looks great in it.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see how that goes.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to keep my comments to myself about that because I have a feeling that I'm going to see something just like you saw something in another movie that nobody agrees with you on.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, and then Jake.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Jill and all is that.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Maggie, Jill and all, we won't Christian bail.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Think about the stretch there.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Keaton.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, and he's playing a monster.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, all right.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Jake, Jill and all, and Maggie, Jill and all, is the director.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: But she's also in the movie as well, too.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be interesting.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's got like a...
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: a Maggie Jillon Hall vibe like some of the movies that I've seen her in it.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of like the vibe that she has.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm interested in it.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: You're interested in it.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the movie we're going to have.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Frankenstein freak.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: I've probably seen every Frankenstein movie.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, we found one.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: We found one.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: We found one.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't seen one.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Just one.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then I eat Frank and Barry.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: So they still make them right there.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: They still make count chocolate.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yes, what's in a big fan of that either.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: What is wrong with you?
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I'm sorry.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I just wasn't a big fan of wheat.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, I ate lucky charms.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the magic leadership.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: cookie crisp.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Was that the one I was good one sugar snap or was was one of my likes sugar pop I think they were called sugar snap sugar smacks sugar smacks that's what I'm thinking of yeah and sugar pop sugar smacks and I like honeycomb I like I like peanut butter Captain crunch yeah I didn't like the original Captain crunch because it like it I like the original it tore up the top of my mouth yeah we do that you had to be careful yeah it makes you look so good in
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, maybe so it's still have some crunch, but if you've been into it right away, yeah, you could tear up the roof for you mouth.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, all of that to say that the Brian is the movie that we are going to review next week on the show.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It does come out.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: It all goes to the other serial stuff because basically they're serial killers.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that was a stretch.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: Next up, a gal who is one best actress as a matter fact is in this movie.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you knew that or not.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: It is an animated feature.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's called Hoppers.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hoppers.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Merrill Streep.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I heard that, she's in this.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Vanessa Bayer, Dave Franco, which is interesting, he's been out of the, out of the mix for a while.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's about Mayball, an animal lover who ceases an opportunity to use new technology to hop her consciousness into a life-like robotic animal.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: An adorable beaver.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: It looks good.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like a fun little movie.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: I like that kind of stuff, you know.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: I like the Incredibles, I like the Minions, I watch all that stuff with my grandkids, and I just like it.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoy it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I cry.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I cry.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's letting his real emotions out folks just have way out.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: OK, good.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: So other two releases on Netflix this week, as a matter of fact, piggy blinders, the immortal man, which is kind of like a take off of the piggy blinders series.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you know about piggy blinders, then you know about this.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: It should be interesting.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Tom Hardy's in it, along with Tim Roth.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: And Barry Quinnigan as well, too.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: So it should be interesting, it's on Netflix.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're only mentioning it because it's on Netflix and you can see it that way as well, too.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Also, out this week is War Machine on Netflix, featuring Alan Rickdinson, Dennis Quade, essay, Mariah McLeod.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Todd Lieberman.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you got Netflix, you can check out those Zoom movies coming out this week.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about them only because they're Netflix releases, and I feel like a majority of people have Netflix and this point.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't, but most people do.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, that's goes without saying it.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: I like Dennis Quaid, that he's underrated.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, all right.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was in a movie called I can only imagine there's a I can only imagine two I don't know if it's out yet, but it's he's if it isn't it's coming and he played the dad in that movie in the first one and I seriously thought he should have got an Oscar not I thought he he played the role like
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I've seen him in a lot of stuff where I didn't think he should get an Oscar knot in this one.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: That one I thought he should have.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was overlooked for that.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I should get an Oscar knot too.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: So what about you?
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, you should not.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: I should?
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: For what?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: for this.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Wow for this show.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: That makes you this this is this your argument about the supporting actor.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Being better than the major actor.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: We're co-host so there is no so we should both get an Oscar.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they give Oscars for podcasts.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: They should maybe maybe a Grammy.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: We could share one.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they do have Grammy's for podcasts.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: That we make more sense.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, somebody should be listening to this call of Barry Gordy.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Barry Gordy.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: He involved in the Oscars or something like that back in the day.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Not Barry Gordy.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Barry Gordy was the Motown guy.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought he was involved with the, I think, Did I say Oscars?
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: I meant Grammys.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: He was involved with the Grammys for a while.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Was he?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was on.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was like the president or something like that.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was a Dick Clark thing.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Dick Clark had everything at one time.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: He had every show on TV.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, he has a good beep, but I'll only give it a five.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: Can't dance to it.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, not at all.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: And speaking of that, we couldn't dance any movies last week.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: So we had our picks, yes, of the movie.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I've been yapping for quite some time.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm interested to hear what movie you actually saw and are going to review.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: So go ahead.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: So my first inclination when we decided to do this.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: was one of my favorite westerns is Tombstone, we Kurt Russell, and the other guys.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Elliott, the other guys.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Who played Doc?
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one of the best Doc holidays I've ever seen.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: I can see his face and I can't think of his name, and we're going to hear about this from Wormon.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Especially if you've seen it with it.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Val Kilmer.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I was going to see that and then I saw an interview with Zach Brack.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: Brack.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Brack.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: Brack.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: Brack.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: From Scrubs.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now he is known for comedic acting, obviously Scrubs, right?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it's back again.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: But he was on the view talking about his directing.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know he'd directed.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: And, um, we'll be asked them what it was like to work with Morgan Freeman to direct Morgan Freeman, not to work with him because he, he's not in the movie, but he directed Morgan Freeman in a movie called a good person.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: And they talked a little bit about that and they talked a little bit about the movie.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: And as I was going through looking for tombstone,
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a good person come up and I thought, you know, I'm gonna watch that because I was kind of intrigued by the fact that I like Zack think he's a funny actor and at these seems like a nice guy too.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, um,
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: I got intrigued by his knowing he directed it.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I found it, and I went to watch, and it's Morgan Freeman, Molly Shannon, Celeste O'Connor, who's a young girl, plays the daughter, and then Florence, and I'm not sure if I'm saying this right, Pew, Pew, G, H, plays Allison, who's one of the main characters.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's basically Allison,
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: and Morgan and Maliya, the three main characters.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those movies that doesn't have a whole lot of supporting characters.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's built around basically three or four people.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: But for a first time director, first of all, for a first time director, he did a really, really outstanding job.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: He also wrote it too.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: He did write it.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it's loosely based on his life experiences.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: I was getting to that.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: I just, you were going through the list.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I just wanted to let, you know.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: The story is about a young girl who is engaged and as a car accident before the engagement, before the wedding happens.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it goes on from there.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to give a lot of away, because it's easy to give away stuff in this movie, which is a little bit of information.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I would just tell people to go see it.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: I started watching it at about 11.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: at night.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: And because it was on 2v, which is free movies with a lot of commercials, I didn't finish till about 135.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I just couldn't walk away.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was compelling.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: The acting was great.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: The writing was terrific.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was so overwhelmingly real.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you've been in a situation where you've lost someone, and then that led you to some other place in your life, you relate to this really, really, really super well.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was off-film the New Jersey, which is where Zach grew up, which was from kind of cool.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: It was real gritty.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the locations, there's nothing stylized or glamorous about this movie.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you're there in New Jersey, ease dropping on this situation.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I fell in love with it.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was just, I mean, I would give this movie a nine and a half.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd watch it again, because again, the performances I thought were compelling.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Now, some of these, some of the actors, I just mentioned, they have limited roles.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: Again, mainly, it's mainly Morgan and Celeste.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's almost a home movie, it's the two of them.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: But the other characters, as they come in, lend to what is going on beautifully, in a subtle kind of way, most of it, and then in a really, in your face kind of way, in other sections of it.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: But he blended it really nicely, I thought.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I did.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: I watched a human,
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: reality, movie about how people deal with situations that we could at one time in our lives all deal with.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so the funny thing is is that we seem to have a, well, in your case, now it's actor, in my case, it's a supporting actor in common in the movie, because I decided to go to a movie that I thought should have one best picture in the year that it came out and it got snubbed and it's one of my favorite movies.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: you think you know what it is.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: So let's see if you, let's see if you can guess it.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'll guess, shot track redemption.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, exactly.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: Love them.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, and I, and you're right, they got snubbed and it was stupid.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: It totally got snubbed.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was a great movie that came out.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was a period piece and it's hard to tell who the main character is there in terms of Beth actor, because Morgan and Morgan's a supporting actor in that.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: co-actors in there and they were a great team.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's absolutely true, but they the the way that the film is made Yeah, I know and you do frame is the main character and that is the one that's the character that Tim Robbins put the other character I get that but watching the movie Without one or the other the movie is not as good in my opinion
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, you're absolutely absolutely no I there's nothing to say there's no argument there at all And finish you didn't say absolutely right you just said absolutely no I absolutely agree with you That's what I was gonna say Mr.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: I need to have my ego stroked But and not just because this was written by you know Stephen King And it's based off of his novella It's just it's such
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: it's a humanistic pace.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's a period piece.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love, I love periods.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: I have said this before, I love the style.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: If I remember correctly, it's like late 50s, early 60s.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: I came out in 1994.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was nominated for Best Picture that year and it just got totally snobbed and I was like, are you kidding me?
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, of all the movies that came out that year, I was like, how did this thing get snobbed?
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was because, you know, and I'm going out at a limb here, but Tim Robbins wasn't well known at that point.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, not really well-known.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they were just kind of like- Like a Freeman one.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, right, but that's why I think it just got snubed because it was more of a Freeman.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think he won best supporting actor for that.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: that year.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe Tim won something like maybe he want to go and go over something like that.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember, but it just got, it got snobbed.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I always, to this day, I'm always like, how did this thing, like, just not do well?
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: But, um, was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Best picture it was nominated for.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Freeman was nominated for Best Actor.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was nominated for Best Adaptive Screenplay, Best Center of Photography, Best Film Editing,
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was nominated all over the place, and it did not win in any category.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: It received two global golden global nominations, best performance by an actor in a motion picture for Freeman, and best screenplay for DeBont, but like I said, it just got snubbed everywhere, and Freeman was the one who got the most nominations, a top aside from Tim Robbins.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, Tim wasn't a very big actor at the time.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: and they actually got seven nominations didn't get any Morgan Freeman was actually nominated for best actor yeah right not supporting but that's what i mean yeah so that's why the force comes right which is on my list of all time worst movies
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: which, and that's what I, and that's what I was like, okay, Forest Compass is a great film.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: It absolutely was, but I was like, this movie was so much better.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: And lead better.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Lead better.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: But I think, I think that, and, you know, just some of the other lesser known people that were in the movie, maybe with the fact that it was a Stephen King novella, maybe that's what did it in?
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it doesn't matter.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: The point in case is that it's a great film.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: You should see it if you haven't seen it.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's just absolutely amazing.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a humanistic approach to prison life.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: And just some of the human condition about never giving up on anything and always pushing yourself.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: What I came away with that movie was one of the things that Red says about how you become institutionalized and not living in a prison is harder than being in prison, which is why a lot of guys go back.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: you know, which of the one guy ends up getting out and I don't want to get away.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: And because he's been there so long, he's so used to that environment that he can't deal with being on the outside now.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: And plus, you know, if you're in prison for 30 years, a lot of things on the outside change in 30 years.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: And when you come out, you got to relearn how to live in society again.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: And that was a central message of this movie, I thought.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's got, it should be and everybody's 100 films to watch before you die for sure for sure and I think like I said it should have won best best picture of the year that year and and that's kind of why I put it in here because to me it was one of the biggest snubs I've ever seen in my life when it comes to you to the Academy of War and my opinion snub to for the stupid American beauty okay.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll leave that one alone, but yeah, so that's that's my video that Morgan Freeman and I know we've got that Morgan Freeman in our movie So there we go.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I've seen a bad Morgan Freeman movie.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there was one it was something called ten items or less
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is a really dumb movie.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: Morgan just needed a couple hundred bucks or something.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: I made my favorite.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: He did as a favorite or somebody who knows.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really don't even look it up folks.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm taking care of that.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to waste my time looking it up either.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that's it for that portion of the show.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: That portion of the show.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: So your how many best movies did you are you bringing to the table?
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: four.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: So we've done away with the whole two per show thing now.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: I see.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're just an overachiever now.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, it was.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead overachiever.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're back.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're back over the, um, all the best picture winners for the whole Oscars.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I got to one and went, oh yeah, that one.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then I kept going and went, oh shit, I gotta get that one.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: And then I went down, and actually there were like 10 that I could have done.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I narrowed it down the floor.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna go in a chronological order, oldest to newest, okay?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can go from there.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, 1934.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: It happened one night with Clark Gable and Claude S. I knew you were gonna bring this one up.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: Frank Capra, I mean, one of the best feel good movie directors of all time, it's a great movie.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you've never seen it, go get it at the library, look it up on YouTube, you'll be able to find it.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's a hilarious comedy, would it just a really feel good message and clutter, co-bear was one of the best comedic actresses out there.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: She really was, so get that one, 1943, I don't know how anybody could disagree with
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: 1943, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Peter Laurie, Claude Reigns, Sydney Greensteed, Dooley Wilson as Sam, and for those of you who have seen the movie and you know this, if you haven't seen the movie, you know the line, played again Sam has been used over and over and over again as a line for that movie, which it's not.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: The actual line, Ingrid Bergman, who plays Elsa says, play it Sam, play as time goes by.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's her line.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: And Bogart, which was attributed to played against Sam, the actual line is, you're played it for her, you can play it for me.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: that's the actual line.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then, of course, to all time remembered line is here's looking at you kid at the end of the movie, but those are the other two lines.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: 1957, I'm getting closer to modern time here, Chris, birds on the river Kauai.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: with Alleghenus, William Holdham, and Sessu Hayakawa.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't know the movie, it's a story about a bridge that prisoners of war during the R. Warwich Pan had to build, because they were in a prisoner work camp.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: The Colonel who ran the camp needed to build the bridge.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: His people didn't really know how to build the bridge, but the British soldiers who were there had actually had an engineer was one of the POWs who knew how to build the bridge.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so they built this bridge for the Japanese as a way to keep morale up with the men.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: And Alignus is brilliant in it.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: Will him Holden is it's not a huge role for him, but it's a good role.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Of course Obi-Wan is brilliant in this move.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but really what's really amazing about this movie to me is that if you if you look up information on this
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: He learned all of his lines by having someone talk them into a tape player, probably a real-to-real at the time, and then he memorized them phonetically.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: Every single line in that movie that he says, at the end of the movie, at the end of the film, and he stood in speak English, which is amazing, I think.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: And here we're in 2020.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: The King's speech with Colin Firth as King George's sixth in Jeffrey Rush.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't know what it's about, King George, the sixth became King of England because his brother advocated the throne to go marry a commoner.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he has a stutter, a really bad stutter.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: But he has to now make speeches because they're at war.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so Jeffrey Rush is the linguist that comes in to teach him, and the relationship between Jeffrey Rush and Colin Firth that develops in this movie is freaking amazing.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you've never seen it, rented, you will love absolutely deserving of a best picture that you're in my opinion.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: So one movie from this generation, everything else from your generation.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: I see how it works.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, a lot of the best picture movies that have one recently I don't know either I haven't seen or I don't agree with.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I will, this is this is the funny, funny part of this.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: I went back and looked at like the best picture nominees list too.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, which of course what you would do that if you're going to have a show where you're talking about best pictures like of that you think are good And I looked back at the last five years of movies and I went I haven't seen a single one of these Wow, not even Oppenheimer because I would not go see that I hope they heard you.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I hope so.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was too long boring.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: I heard well, we're no new information at all right, very disappointing
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: I heard so many bad reviews about it that I was like, I'm glad I didn't go see this and I'm glad I didn't waste three hours of my life and then it gets the best picture win and I was like, oh my god, maybe I should go see it.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, as we have said, well as we have said, there are sometimes pictures win best picture and we don't agree with it and you know, that's the way it goes.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so you're the overachiever.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the underachiever.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: I picked two, but then there's actually like a runner up.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: So it's three so it's three.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so my runner-up is no country for old man I saw that one too.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's a it's a colon brothers.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's a colon brothers film.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and Honestly, it's what turned me on to them.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't really know them that well except for I think didn't do the matrix I think they were the matrix of our population
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I was just kind of like, yeah, you know, I think I did this last time, but um, I just, a girl that I was dating at the time wanted to see the movie, uh, and the HUD sucker proxy and oh brother were out there, that's what they're known for.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and of course, no country for all men, uh, we, we did talk about this before in the show, because I've talked about this movie before this movie left, uh, it left, it made an impact on me.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I've got the, I'm the person that has a wide movie background, but one of the things that I used to watch a lot growing up as a kid was horror movies, because I would go with my dad every other weekend and we'd stop at a local video store, he'd grab a video, I'd grab a video and it was just one of the things we did for the weekend.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, it was an opportunity for me because my dad was very cool and he didn't, you know, he wasn't like, no, you can't watch that stuff.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to watch all the horror movies that I never could watch around my mother because she wouldn't let me watch that.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: Although she made me sit through Thorne Birds.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, exactly.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: As like an eight or nine year old kid, I was like, should I really be watching a movie that's about a pastor and like how he has sexual, and you end those, towards his,
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: Congregation, but anyway, I'm gonna.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna renew endos.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, okay.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: I was trying to be a little bit on the lightside.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying You're right.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: They weren't in new endos.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was it was straight out soft porn on TV.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty much So in Chamberlain was gorgeous
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know if he was my priest if I wouldn't be trying to get into his casting.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: OK, that anyways, that's all country for no old men since you seem to want to change the direction of him.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a good move.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: Matrix was not a comb.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I was looking at it again.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, nope, I keep doing that.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the Wizinski brothers or something like that.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: I just came to my head while I was talking.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a child's key brothers.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: But they did do Fargo, which is a really good movie, too.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: Back to old country for no end, I'm gonna pull that microphone away from you in a second.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: Joel Colton wrote it, and Tommy Lee Jones was in it, and then Havier Barton, is that how you say his last name?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think that mean.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: Barton, that's it.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think this was like, well, for me, this was the first movie I ever saw him in.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, but I had not really paid much attention to him until this movie, but he's like the psychotic killer, we'll call him that And just the way that he killed people in this movie.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's like oh my god.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh wow
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it just, with my horror background, it just, it took me to a whole other left one.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, wow, this movie is good in a weird way, and I just couldn't explain it.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great movie.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: It won Best Picture, and it deserved to want to win Best Picture.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a great movie, and if you haven't seen it, you should see it.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's the current brother, so, you know, there is that as well.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: They seem to have a very good following.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: with a couple of movies.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen Oh Brother Where Art thou, and I think that movie is absolutely amazing, and some of their other stuff as well too.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: So, next up, and, you know, it's all about the blue light special.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, definitely blue light.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Rayman, Rayman is a great man.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: Such a phenomenal movie in multiple ways because for me, it was the first time in my life that I had seen in a movie, a person portrayed that had some sort of mental situation.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: And back in that day, that was not something that was talked about, right?
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: That person would have been called the R word, which we can't say anymore, because of the way they were.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a TV show called Idiot Savant that came out, I don't know, maybe five or six years after that, that was, it was a game show, and it was all about somebody that was super genius.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that's along on the lines of what he was, he was a super genius.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you take that movie and you put it into like nowadays, there would very easily would have put him on the spectrum for sure.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Probably would have called him autistic or something of that nature, but we didn't do that back in the day, but this was to me the very first time that we got to see this and my mom was dating a guy at the time who worked for Channel 11, he was a cameraman, and he had a brother who had, I think, down syndrome.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: and I don't remember Chuck, Chuck was his name, Chuck.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I connected, I was a kid, 10 years old, and I connected with Chuck in a way that I've never connected with anyone else in my entire life.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: Chuck and I just understood each other, and I can't really describe that.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I've always had kind of like,
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: a heart for people who have mental challenges and things at that age.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I suffer with depression at myself.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I think all of us in some way shape or form should be seeking some sort of guidance.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just put it this way, because some people don't want to say they need help.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, you know, if we all are really true to ourselves, we all have some sort of
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: just it doesn't matter.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: We are all on the spectrum in some ways you're pretty sure you shape or form.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: You just don't want to agree with yourself and whatever.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Rainman, great flick, Tom Cruise is in it.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a Tom Cruise fan at all.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: And in this movie, you see exactly why the camera angles are always up and ever times on the camera or on film or on
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: the center of attention I guess but does it often just it's such a great such a portrayal and it's just it's just great movie it's so many great lines from it and you know things that I've that have stuck with me for my entire life so great movie.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: Last but not least, and this is because of the Shakespeare in Shakespearean in me, I have always loved this movie and probably will always love this movie forever, because to me it was the first time I saw Shakespeare portrayed on the big screen in a great way, and then right after that I saw much to do about nothing and I was like great.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: fell in love with Kenneth Brana and some of the other actors in that movie and then they did another one right after that.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a mid summer night's dream and it was terrible in my opinion.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: But this movie, one best picture, Shakespeare in love, winner of seven Academy Awards, this matter of fact, Quentin Paltrow's in it, Joseph Fein, Joseph Fein's in it, Joseph Fein's in it, as well, Jeffrey Rush.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a great cast of characters.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: is a Judy Dunch to Queen and I was getting to that in a second and one of the gals that I picked for Best Actress is in the movie as well, Judy Dunch and while I was saying last week or maybe it was the week before, I don't remember when we did the Best Actress, it was last week.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: I had said I couldn't remember where I saw Judy Dunch for the first time this is the movie that I first saw her in and this is where I found a love with her So nothing else needs to be said about this movie Shakespeare love.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's just it's absolutely phenomenal And listen in that too.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean you got it.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's a lot of less the fact that then allow women in theater back then You know Just like in the early 40s in Hollywood You know if you needed a black character was a white guy with black face
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: That same thing in England, they went and allowed women to be actors in life theater, which is what would big back then.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a really cool part of that movie that you kind of learn a little bit about what it was like back then for women who any, you know, women who
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: But back then, and unfortunately, we don't know the whole truth here, I don't think women were even interested in doing it at that point because it was such a, this is a men-only kind of situation.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: And when you really stop and you look at the way things were back then, as bad as they were, right?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: When we look at stuff now, we look at how open-minded we are now, but the world was the
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't live those times so I can't speak from any of those people in those times.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there was thoughts I'm sure women thought hey, I could do that as well But unfortunately they were so downtrodden and so Put in situations to make them feel like they were not
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: they were not capable of achieving things that they could have achieved, that's the other reason why I love this movie so much is because it's the first time that I know of outside of some of the plays that I was in at that time, but it's the first time that a woman was actually in a male role in a movie.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: and it was a Shakespearean movie of all that.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: So Shakespearean love, go check it out, get a familiar library if you haven't seen it already, buy it because it's worth watching millions of times.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: And Joseph finds is plays William Shakespeare and absolutely love him.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: And Jeffrey rushes in as well, too.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of great actors, a lot of people who actually won Academy Awards because of this movie, Ben Affleck, isn't it?
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: As well, too, most people don't remember that either.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember Ben.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't remember him anything.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: Man, well, there you go.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of a remarkable answer to me.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's not saying much to you.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't like him in the accountant.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's totally miscanced.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: Why did you bring up the account?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: Out of the pages.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, not the movie I would have thought of at Ben Affleck, I would have thought of Argo and why was that movie best picture or winner?
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, I digress, I'm not going to go in for any further with some of these things.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'll keep the rest of my opinions to myself because it certainly knows that there's going to be some salgato out there.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to say something about what we had to say in this episode.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it's probably going to be you.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to bring this episode to a close.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you stick with us next week.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have best supporting actors' actresses.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, before we close out, we have done this for the last couple of episodes.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we need to do this here.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: Here are the nominees for Best Picture for the 2026 Academy Awards.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: In no particular order, the secret agent.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: uh... borgoia or borsiga maybe i don't know how to pronounce that uh... marty supreme train dreams f one that's interesting f one was a uh... bread put movie yet one real one racing which i saw which is very good but what it's an apple tv movie wasn't in theaters it wasn't theaters it was in theaters or sherry show because i said that
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: it was it was in theaters because Chris Stapleton had a hit that came out of that movie and that's why people want to go see it.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: They were like it's in theaters we're going to go see it centers which I think is a great movie and I I I'm going to save that for when we actually do our predictions okay Frank and Stein
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: which is interesting, Guillermo de Toro, that's the version of his, that was also in theaters as well.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: HamNet, which was a movie that we wanted to see, but we never got to see it, a movie that we did see, which we both thought was actually terrible.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: One battle after another, how is this one nominated for Best Picture?
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least, Sentimental Value.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: so those are the movies that are nominated this year.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: In a couple of episodes, basically like the week before the Oscars, we'll go ahead and we'll give you our predictions as well.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see how they do.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about it at that episode of that.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: But what we're going to talk about next episode, like I said, is best supporting actor or actress, because that's either one can win that now.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just considered best supporting actor, best supporting actress.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's all combined into one now too.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: And then we'll finish this out with best screenplay, but that'll be two weeks from now, and then next week, you can look forward to our review of the bright.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: So until then, I'm Chris Miles in a bit of a, and save us some popcorn.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm cheesy.
