- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome to episode four of my five
- 0:18Speaker 1: day kind of mini series on how to raset, refocus,
- 0:22Speaker 1: gain control of your year again, off your life, of
- 0:25Speaker 1: the trajectory of where you are heading, and basically change
- 0:28Speaker 1: your life. Okay, so if that's not tempting, then that's unfortunate.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Go listen to episode one, two, and three. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: haven't already some Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, you can listen to
- 0:38Speaker 1: them all back to back. It's fine. You can implement
- 0:40Speaker 1: these things as you go. It definitely doesn't have to
- 0:42Speaker 1: be like one a day ticking each of them off.
- 0:46Speaker 1: But today we're going to be talking about So there's
- 0:48Speaker 1: actually five, but the first two are very basic and
- 0:52Speaker 1: I've kind of already spoken about it yesterday, so I'm
- 0:54Speaker 1: not including the first two. But it's basically three things
- 0:57Speaker 1: you do every single morning or as often as possible.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to be a drill sergeant on this,
- 1:02Speaker 1: but as often as possible, and you will start to
- 1:04Speaker 1: notice major differences in a very very short amount of time.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's free, it's accessible to everyone, and it doesn't take
- 1:11Speaker 1: long at all. Okay, so please, if you're going to
- 1:13Speaker 1: do one thing in these five days, this is the
- 1:16Speaker 1: one that you're going to be doing. Okay, So the
- 1:18Speaker 1: first two, which are not really part of the three,
- 1:21Speaker 1: it's just a add on. Is in the morning, you're
- 1:24Speaker 1: gonna wake up. You're gonna drink the water with electrolytes
- 1:27Speaker 1: like I spoke about yesterday, and you're going to move
- 1:29Speaker 1: your body, stretch and let your brain know that you
- 1:32Speaker 1: are awake. Let your brain know that you are ready
- 1:34Speaker 1: to start the day. You dragging yourself out of bed
- 1:37Speaker 1: and dragging and moping around, you're already setting yourself up
- 1:40Speaker 1: for failure. All right, we want to get up and say,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you know what, I'm fucking up. I might as well
- 1:44Speaker 1: act like it. So I'm going to big stretch. I'm
- 1:47Speaker 1: opening my eyes, I'm splashing water on my face. Maybe
- 1:49Speaker 1: I'm brushing my teeth. I don't know what You're The
- 1:51Speaker 1: timing of everything is, I'm drinking some water, I'm hydrating
- 1:54Speaker 1: my brain. But we already know that, so we're doing that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The next thing we're going to do is make sure
- 1:58Speaker 1: that you remove yourself from the bedroom environment. Okay, so
- 2:03Speaker 1: this is you know for what we're going to do next.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I want you to make sure that you are sitting
- 2:09Speaker 1: on the counter or in the kitchen of but not
- 2:10Speaker 1: in the bedroom environment we associate, well, you should be
- 2:13Speaker 1: associating your bedroom and your bed with sleep. That's how
- 2:16Speaker 1: it should be. So when we do a lot of
- 2:18Speaker 1: these exercises and things like that, I want you to
- 2:20Speaker 1: already like prep yourself to be like upstarted my day.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm removing myself from my sleeping environment. Okay, so living
- 2:27Speaker 1: room wherever the fuck, but just not your bedroom. Now
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're getting into the three steps that you're going to
- 2:32Speaker 1: be doing. You're going to grab a booklet, a paper,
- 2:35Speaker 1: a pen. I want you to physically write these things down.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It is a lot more impactful when you physically write
- 2:41Speaker 1: something down versus when you jot something down in your
- 2:44Speaker 1: phone or type it out. And the reason for that
- 2:46Speaker 1: is you're using more parts of the brain. It likely
- 2:50Speaker 1: takes a little bit longer, so it takes more time
- 2:52Speaker 1: for you to process what it is that you are writing,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and you're more kind of focused on the task at
- 2:57Speaker 1: hand when you are physically writing something. Okay, so pen
- 3:00Speaker 1: and paper and these are the things that you are
- 3:03Speaker 1: going to do, the three things that you're going to
- 3:06Speaker 1: write to prep yourself for the day. So the first
- 3:08Speaker 1: one is it is my intention to feel dot dot
- 3:12Speaker 1: dot today. You're going to focus on the feeling that
- 3:18Speaker 1: matters the most, that is the biggest priority for you today, Okay,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and write the whole sentence down. It is my intention
- 3:25Speaker 1: to feel whatever that emotion is today, Okay. And this
- 3:30Speaker 1: could be things like it is my intention to feel happy, relaxed,
- 3:34Speaker 1: at peace, to feel calm, unbothered, excited, optimistic, creative, fulfilled, grateful.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You come up with a word that really resonates with you,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and it can be a different word every single day,
- 3:49Speaker 1: let's say, and you can use yesterday as kind of
- 3:51Speaker 1: like a sounding board for what you're going to write today.
- 3:54Speaker 1: You could be like, I really let things bother me yesterday.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I really let things get to me, and I just
- 3:58Speaker 1: wish I didn't. So I might have all these other
- 4:00Speaker 1: things going on, I might have goals that I want
- 4:02Speaker 1: to achieve, but really, at the end of the day,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I want to feel unbothered. I want things to just
- 4:07Speaker 1: slide off my back and to not affect me like
- 4:09Speaker 1: they normally do. So today it is my intention to
- 4:12Speaker 1: feel unbothered. That is the emotion I'm going to focus on.
- 4:16Speaker 1: When you acknowledge the emotion. When you name the emotion
- 4:20Speaker 1: that you want to feel, you are more likely to
- 4:22Speaker 1: remember it throughout the day. So when then someone makes
- 4:24Speaker 1: a comment that annoys you, think I could react and
- 4:28Speaker 1: then really have demons, or I could remember what I
- 4:31Speaker 1: said this morning and I'm unbothered. Today's an unbothered day.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's an unbothered day. You can say what you want
- 4:34Speaker 1: to say, but I'm not bothered. You might have about anger,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I do not have about anger, and then you fucking
- 4:40Speaker 1: feel so much calm about the situation. It simmers down.
- 4:43Speaker 1: If it's about feeling excited, you're thinking, I'm not going
- 4:46Speaker 1: to focus on, you know, the stats or whatever of
- 4:48Speaker 1: my work. I'm just going to focus on doing the work,
- 4:51Speaker 1: on the excitement of what it feels like. I'm feeling
- 4:53Speaker 1: excited today. What else can I be excited about? Like
- 4:55Speaker 1: attracts like That's my main focus. Okay, so number one,
- 5:00Speaker 1: that's the first thing you're going to write down. Number two,
- 5:03Speaker 1: And for those of you that own my brain Journal,
- 5:06Speaker 1: which is like a daily journal prompt booklet go check
- 5:09Speaker 1: it out. It's fucking epics, so please check it out.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But for those of you that own the Brain Journal,
- 5:13Speaker 1: this is a daily prompture that already exists there, but
- 5:16Speaker 1: it is where you write down what your focus is
- 5:19Speaker 1: going to be for today, for growth, connection, and purpose.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It can be just one word and remember less is more, okay,
- 5:25Speaker 1: so don't overcomplicate it. But ideally you want it to
- 5:28Speaker 1: be different or differ somewhat from day to day. You
- 5:31Speaker 1: don't want it to be the exact same thing. It
- 5:33Speaker 1: could be around the same realm, but something that's slightly different. So,
- 5:36Speaker 1: for example, you could say, for growth, I'm going to
- 5:41Speaker 1: aim to do that fourth push up today. You know.
- 5:44Speaker 1: For purpose you are going to be I'm going to
- 5:48Speaker 1: really focus on feeling useful today. I'm going to focus
- 5:50Speaker 1: on really feeling like I have been off use to somebody.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And that could be like making a stranger smile. It
- 5:56Speaker 1: could be helping your friend move, or it could be
- 5:59Speaker 1: you know, working on something that's you know, related to
- 6:03Speaker 1: your career where you're helping somebody, whatever it is, but
- 6:05Speaker 1: something that you feel connected to other people through feeling useful.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And then we've got connection. So how am I going
- 6:12Speaker 1: to connect to day? You can just say call my sister,
- 6:15Speaker 1: you can say have a chat with my neighbor. You
- 6:19Speaker 1: could say, have like a little interaction where I ask
- 6:22Speaker 1: someone about something at the coffee shop or the or
- 6:24Speaker 1: the you know, my regular coffee man, whatever it is. Okay,
- 6:27Speaker 1: So I want you to really think off, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 1: something that's less is more. Don't overcomplicate it. It doesn't
- 6:33Speaker 1: have to be a big thing. But growth connection purpose.
- 6:35Speaker 1: You are priming yourself today. Now that you've said those
- 6:38Speaker 1: three things, my three pillars of happiness, growth connection purpose,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you have now primed yourself to have that at the
- 6:43Speaker 1: top of your awareness for the rest of the day. Okay,
- 6:46Speaker 1: how am I approaching these three things? Since so for
- 7:10Speaker 1: those of you that actually do want to check out
- 7:12Speaker 1: that journal, just go to mindset Recreation Club dot com
- 7:15Speaker 1: Mindset Recreation Club dot com and you can purchase the
- 7:18Speaker 1: journal one, three, six or twelve pack. They go for
- 7:23Speaker 1: a month, and you've just got those daily prompts and
- 7:25Speaker 1: one of the main things is that growth connection purpose thing.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And if you don't want to you just write it
- 7:29Speaker 1: down on a piece of paper and Huila, there you go. Now,
- 7:33Speaker 1: the last one of the three things is going to
- 7:36Speaker 1: be a question that you ask yourself, and this is
- 7:41Speaker 1: how am I going to start taking my power back.
- 7:46Speaker 1: One of the main things that really gets us stuck
- 7:49Speaker 1: in life is feeling powerless. And feeling powerless is just
- 7:53Speaker 1: such a low vibe feeling because it's disempowerment. It's worse
- 7:59Speaker 1: than anger. It's like I can do nothing from this position.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I feel powerless, Okay. And sometimes when we get stuck
- 8:05Speaker 1: in this rut, when we get like I'm stuck, I
- 8:07Speaker 1: feel flat, I feel like I cont be forward. It's
- 8:09Speaker 1: because we feel that we don't have power or control
- 8:12Speaker 1: over these circumstances around us. So this question is going
- 8:16Speaker 1: to take you out of the reactive state that we've
- 8:19Speaker 1: often find ourselves in, this situation we've found ourselves in
- 8:22Speaker 1: that we don't want to be with, and it starts
- 8:24Speaker 1: to prime our mind into thinking, how can I turn
- 8:26Speaker 1: this reactive state into a bit more of a proactive state.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And the more you do it, the more ideas come.
- 8:31Speaker 1: So the more mornings that you include this exercise, the
- 8:35Speaker 1: better it's going to be for you and for your creativity,
- 8:37Speaker 1: for what's to come, for what's possible. Okay. So an
- 8:41Speaker 1: example would be I want to take I feel like
- 8:45Speaker 1: if I look at my last week, I feel like
- 8:47Speaker 1: I wasted so much time time that I'm not going
- 8:50Speaker 1: to get back. So a way of regaining my power
- 8:53Speaker 1: would be to be stricter on what I'm doing. Like
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm going to not access my phone. I'm getting off
- 8:59Speaker 1: my phone as off midday onwards. I'm allowed to check
- 9:02Speaker 1: social media up until midday and then after that it's
- 9:05Speaker 1: not gonna happen anymore. Or another thing could be I'm
- 9:08Speaker 1: going to stop reacting when people say things. People are
- 9:12Speaker 1: used to me snapping and reacting. They're just used to
- 9:15Speaker 1: that being me. They they you know, it's almost like
- 9:18Speaker 1: they thrive off it. I'm going to take my power
- 9:20Speaker 1: back by not giving people the pleasure of making me snap.
- 9:24Speaker 1: How am I going to do that? Let's start brainstorming.
- 9:26Speaker 1: What could I do? What are like tools that I
- 9:27Speaker 1: can use? What are redirection thoughts when like my colleague
- 9:30Speaker 1: tries to piss me off again? That's another way of
- 9:32Speaker 1: taking the power back. I could take my power back
- 9:35Speaker 1: with my health. I've kind of dropped off the bandwagon
- 9:38Speaker 1: with like, you know, I was really into running and
- 9:40Speaker 1: then it kind of got cold and then I kind
- 9:42Speaker 1: of stopped and then whatever, how can I take the
- 9:44Speaker 1: power back? Maybe I can start doing something else that
- 9:46Speaker 1: feels really good for my body, and then I start
- 9:48Speaker 1: to feel, you know, more empowered again with that journey
- 9:51Speaker 1: that I wanted to go on. You pick, ask yourself,
- 9:54Speaker 1: where have I feel like I've lost my power? Where
- 9:56Speaker 1: do I feel like I've lost that sense of control
- 9:59Speaker 1: over my life? Why do I feel stuck? Flat, disempowered?
- 10:03Speaker 1: What am I going to do today? Something little where
- 10:06Speaker 1: I can start to take my power back. Maybe I
- 10:09Speaker 1: feel like I'm so overwhelmed that I'm kind of like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know, paralysis via analysis because there's just too much
- 10:16Speaker 1: going on, and I feel like I can't action anything
- 10:18Speaker 1: because it's just snowballed on me. So maybe taking my
- 10:20Speaker 1: power back is just going through my email inbox, just
- 10:24Speaker 1: the first two pages and clearing out the first two
- 10:26Speaker 1: pages out of one hundred. That's something, and I feel
- 10:30Speaker 1: like I've done something and I'm starting to regain my power.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't have to be drowning in life admin, that
- 10:35Speaker 1: doesn't have to be my identity anymore. That's how I'm
- 10:38Speaker 1: going to take my power back today. You do this
- 10:40Speaker 1: every day or as often as you can. The three questions,
- 10:42Speaker 1: let's go over them again. So the first one is
- 10:45Speaker 1: it is my intention today to feel X or it
- 10:48Speaker 1: is my intention to feel today empowered, fucking happy. I've
- 10:55Speaker 1: just got to focus on feeling happy today. Everything else
- 10:57Speaker 1: can get fucked as far as I'm concerned, I'm going
- 10:59Speaker 1: to feel today. I'm going to look for things that
- 11:01Speaker 1: make me feel happy. That prime emotional pivoting priming exercise
- 11:05Speaker 1: that we did when we look for ten cool, impressive
- 11:07Speaker 1: things when we go for the walk, that's one of
- 11:09Speaker 1: the things that's going to help us feel happy. So
- 11:11Speaker 1: number one, Number two, what am I going to do
- 11:14Speaker 1: today for connection, growth and purpose? Keep it simple, Keep
- 11:19Speaker 1: it fucking simple. Less is more. You can just do
- 11:21Speaker 1: one worded answers, but you've got to mean it and
- 11:24Speaker 1: you've got to feel it when you're writing it down.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Don't be like, oh, here's fucking the three words that
- 11:27Speaker 1: I always use. No, no, no, Really think about it and
- 11:30Speaker 1: write it down. But remember it doesn't have to be
- 11:32Speaker 1: a big thing. The connection is something little. I'm actually
- 11:35Speaker 1: going to look up and make eye contact with someone
- 11:37Speaker 1: when I walk my dog and just smile. I won't
- 11:39Speaker 1: give a fuck if they don't smile back. I at
- 11:41Speaker 1: least got the opportunity to smile. So not all is lost.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But this is how I'm going to connect today. Okay,
- 11:46Speaker 1: so little basic, basic things, but growth, connection, purpose, three
- 11:50Speaker 1: pillars of happiness. And then the last one is what
- 11:52Speaker 1: am I going to do today to start to take
- 11:55Speaker 1: my power back? How am I going to regain power?
- 11:57Speaker 1: How do I start taking control of my life again?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Every day, or as often as you can, you ask
- 12:02Speaker 1: yourself that question. You are now primed. You can't tell
- 12:06Speaker 1: me that your mindset isn't going to be different after
- 12:09Speaker 1: you do those three steps, and that takes all of
- 12:12Speaker 1: five minutes. If that depends how concentrated you are on
- 12:15Speaker 1: the task, it can take three minutes. It does not
- 12:17Speaker 1: take long at all. It is not taking away from
- 12:20Speaker 1: your time in the day. Okay. It is a simple favor,
- 12:24Speaker 1: a very effective favor that you can do for yourself.
- 12:27Speaker 1: That's going to start to transform how you approach your day.
- 12:30Speaker 1: We have to prime ourselves. It's so the whole idea
- 12:33Speaker 1: of what our brain seeks it's going to find. Okay,
- 12:37Speaker 1: reticular activating system of prime myself to look for those things.
- 12:39Speaker 1: They're going to be more visible. I'm going to find
- 12:41Speaker 1: opportunities for connection way more because I primed myself. I'm
- 12:45Speaker 1: going to find opportunities where I can feel more excited
- 12:48Speaker 1: throughout the day because I fucking primed myself for it,
- 12:50Speaker 1: didn't I can't. So we're going to do these things
- 12:53Speaker 1: and feel better about it. Okay. So those are the
- 12:58Speaker 1: three things, and forget the two bonus ones at the
- 13:01Speaker 1: start where water stretch, tell your brain that you're awake.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Don't pretend that you're asleep, You're up, you fuck and
- 13:06Speaker 1: act like you are up, okay, and then remove yourself
- 13:10Speaker 1: from the bedroom to do this exercise. Please, this is important,
- 13:14Speaker 1: trust me, it's important. Get get out and if you're
- 13:16Speaker 1: someone that's like you know what, I'm gonna fucking get
- 13:19Speaker 1: up and go to the cafe. Let's say you're lucky
- 13:21Speaker 1: enough to live right next to a cafe, I'm gonna
- 13:23Speaker 1: go to the cafe right next to me and do
- 13:25Speaker 1: it there. Great, great, okay, whatever it is. Get yourself
- 13:29Speaker 1: in a different location and do this exercise. That's all
- 13:33Speaker 1: for today, guys. Thank you so much for tuning in.
- 13:36Speaker 1: If you haven't already, go listen to the other three
- 13:38Speaker 1: episodes and get excited for the final episode of this
- 13:43Speaker 1: five day mini series. And that is all. Love you
- 13:46Speaker 1: guys so much. As always remember be kind to yourself,
- 13:48Speaker 1: be kind to your brain, don't take shit from anyone,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and especially don't take shit from yourself. Don't care
