- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through. Yeah me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:30Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:35Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:37Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other. The backyard, to dig
- 0:39Speaker 1: into the dirt, our mission to uncover the truth, to
- 0:42Speaker 1: confront the myth, to reclaim the story. On this bonus episode,
- 0:46Speaker 1: we are talking about our new episode on Houdini with
- 0:49Speaker 1: the Red Hot Chili Peppers making in appearance. We're rewinding
- 0:51Speaker 1: back to our Norwegian black metal in Misfits episodes for
- 0:55Speaker 1: the Halloween season, previewing next week's brand new episode on
- 0:59Speaker 1: Judas Priest, talking about one of the worst humans ever
- 1:02Speaker 1: right now, a crap singer from a crap band, and
- 1:04Speaker 1: we get into your voicemails, text, dms, and as always,
- 1:08Speaker 1: a whole lot of rosie. This is the podcast for
- 1:11Speaker 1: the musically obsessed, the outsiders, the independent thinkers who know
- 1:14Speaker 1: that the best history is the history that gets buried.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Disgraceland is where I tell the stories they didn't want told,
- 1:20Speaker 1: the kind you'll end up telling someone else. All right, discos,
- 1:24Speaker 1: let's get into it, all right. This prison, it holds
- 1:40Speaker 1: criminals so notorious they call the prison the Monster Mansion.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's filled to the brim with predators, the worst of
- 1:50Speaker 1: the worst, serial killers, cannibals, rapists, and the criminals are
- 1:56Speaker 1: too depraved to be held in general population. Yes, for
- 2:01Speaker 1: fear of what they'll potentially do to others, but more
- 2:05Speaker 1: out of fear of what will be done to them. Now.
- 2:08Speaker 1: There's a hierarchy in all prisons, and England's Monster Mansion
- 2:13Speaker 1: not only holds the worst of the worst, it also
- 2:16Speaker 1: holds the lowest of the low. And this is where
- 2:22Speaker 1: lost prophets ex singer the convicted pedophile Ian Watkins, was
- 2:27Speaker 1: murdered last week. On the morning of October eleventh, as
- 2:32Speaker 1: the cell doors were unlocked and the prisoners were allowed
- 2:36Speaker 1: to move about, two prisoners ambushed Ian Watkins in his cell.
- 2:43Speaker 1: One of them stabbed Watkins in the neck with a shank,
- 2:47Speaker 1: reportedly hitting his jugular. Blood went everywhere, spewed violently quickly
- 2:54Speaker 1: covered the cell. The alarms blared and for a minute
- 3:00Speaker 1: chaos ensued before guards got controlled the situation. The bloodshed
- 3:06Speaker 1: was described by a source on the scene as horrific,
- 3:09Speaker 1: with blood everywhere, and that the event was quote shocking
- 3:13Speaker 1: even by prison standards. The forty seven year old Ian
- 3:18Speaker 1: Watkins was quickly pronounced dead, His two attackers were apprehended.
- 3:25Speaker 1: His fans, his groupies, yes, he still has groupies, even
- 3:31Speaker 1: young ones who still correspond with him in prison. His
- 3:35Speaker 1: ex bandmates and his victims. We haven't heard from any
- 3:40Speaker 1: of them, aside from a fairly narcissistic ex post from
- 3:45Speaker 1: Lost Prophets guitarist Lee Gaze using this occasion of Ian
- 3:51Speaker 1: Watkins's death to lament the downfall of their band from
- 3:54Speaker 1: thirteen years ago, due to, of course, Ian Watkins's depray
- 4:00Speaker 1: to crimes. In twenty thirteen, Watkins pleaded guilty to attempted
- 4:06Speaker 1: rape and sexual assault of a child under thirteen. He
- 4:10Speaker 1: also pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault involving children,
- 4:15Speaker 1: to six counts of taking, making, or possessing indecent imagery,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving
- 4:27Speaker 1: a sex act on an animal. One of this Dude's
- 4:30Speaker 1: victims was a two year old boy, a two year
- 4:35Speaker 1: old boy, the son of one of his girlfriends, a
- 4:39Speaker 1: woman that the singer once texted saying, quote, if you
- 4:44Speaker 1: belong to me, so does your baby unquote. Let that
- 4:48Speaker 1: sink in. There's been a reason that I haven't covered
- 4:54Speaker 1: this story. A lot of you have written me before.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I get an email about this every couple months or
- 5:01Speaker 1: so and have for years. And I hate this shit,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I really do. And it's it's so dark, it's so
- 5:10Speaker 1: depraved that you know I've done Uh, I've done similar
- 5:15Speaker 1: episodes in the past, as you know, on some really
- 5:17Speaker 1: dark stuff. And you know, when you're researching it, you're
- 5:21Speaker 1: just in it in your fucking head. Man. It's like
- 5:26Speaker 1: it take it takes a beating, Your soul takes a beating.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It's it's tough for me, and I know everybody's different.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It's tough for me to have my head in places
- 5:35Speaker 1: like this, Uh, deeply in places like this for a
- 5:38Speaker 1: long periods of time. And uh, you know, for some
- 5:41Speaker 1: it's not you know, you know, it's funny. I was
- 5:46Speaker 1: I got this buddy who's an ex New York City cop,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and uh, I was talking to him a couple of
- 5:52Speaker 1: weeks ago, and he was just you know, I asked him,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know, we're we're at a party and and things
- 6:00Speaker 1: had kind of lightened up and we were getting that
- 6:03Speaker 1: we were getting heavy on some stuff, and I asked
- 6:05Speaker 1: him about some of the worst things that he'd seen
- 6:09Speaker 1: when he was a cop in New York and he
- 6:11Speaker 1: retired very young, and you know, I'm not going to
- 6:17Speaker 1: repeat what he told me, but the fact that this
- 6:20Speaker 1: guy's not traumatized by it is just it's astonishing to
- 6:25Speaker 1: me that some people can compartmentalize these types of experiences,
- 6:31Speaker 1: this type of information. And again, everybody deals with it differently.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And a lot of you have asked me to cover
- 6:37Speaker 1: this horrific story and I haven't done it. I was
- 6:39Speaker 1: planned on doing it, though, and I'm now going to
- 6:43Speaker 1: for sure, now that there's a real ending here, I'm
- 6:46Speaker 1: going to get into it. But it's so dark, and
- 6:49Speaker 1: especially that that quote gives you a taste of how
- 6:52Speaker 1: dark it is. If you belong to me, So does
- 6:55Speaker 1: your baby just a special kind of evil. During the
- 7:05Speaker 1: investigation into Ian Watkins's crimes, authorities got a hold of
- 7:09Speaker 1: his laptop and they figured out that his login password
- 7:16Speaker 1: was I fuck kids. I mean. A senior investigator assigned
- 7:25Speaker 1: to Watkins's case said that Ian Watkins was quote potentially
- 7:30Speaker 1: the most dangerous sex offender he'd ever seen. I mean,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't know how I'm gonna tell this story, but
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'm going to. I want to know more about why
- 7:41Speaker 1: he was killed. There's no word yet on why Ian
- 7:45Speaker 1: Watkins was murdered. Now many are assuming that it's prison justice.
- 7:50Speaker 1: It's back to what I was saying earlier about the
- 7:52Speaker 1: hierarchy in prison. You know, convicts cleaning out the lowest
- 7:58Speaker 1: of the low from among their ranks. However, in twenty
- 8:02Speaker 1: twenty three, not that long ago, a couple inmates took
- 8:07Speaker 1: Ian Walkins hostage in jail and beat and tortured him
- 8:11Speaker 1: for six hours. Now, this had nothing to do reportedly
- 8:16Speaker 1: about Ian Watkins's crimes, the crimes that led him to jail,
- 8:20Speaker 1: the abuse. It was reportedly over a drug debt. Ian
- 8:24Speaker 1: Watkins was an addict. He's got a lot of experience
- 8:27Speaker 1: and out of jail with drugs. So I don't know
- 8:31Speaker 1: why he was killed. I don't think anyone does right
- 8:33Speaker 1: now as of the recording of this episode. But we're
- 8:37Speaker 1: going to find out and we're going to do an
- 8:39Speaker 1: episode on this, and we're going to find a way
- 8:40Speaker 1: to do it that isn't completely sensationalized and it gets
- 8:45Speaker 1: to the evil at the heart of this singer from
- 8:50Speaker 1: the band Lost Profits. Details are still emerging from this case,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, as we get them in, we'll start putting
- 9:00Speaker 1: this together, putting the research together on Like I said,
- 9:04Speaker 1: Ian Watkins from Lost Profits Disgraceful Crimes in a full
- 9:08Speaker 1: episode soon. This is one of those stories, as I mentioned,
- 9:13Speaker 1: many of you have recommended even before Ian's death, and
- 9:16Speaker 1: there's a course a lot about this story that is
- 9:20Speaker 1: hard to digest, but I don't know, just I believe
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's important to cover the worst of the worst, and
- 9:26Speaker 1: this is one of those reminders. Is Halloween season that
- 9:29Speaker 1: true monsters walk among us. Ian Watkins from Lost Prophets
- 9:35Speaker 1: is about as disgraceful a musician that I've come across
- 9:40Speaker 1: in all of my years doing this. He deserves a
- 9:44Speaker 1: special place in whatever the haull of disgrace is. He's
- 9:49Speaker 1: up there with the worst of the worst. Like I said,
- 9:51Speaker 1: up there with the Spade coolies, Big Lurch. Truly a bad,
- 9:57Speaker 1: bad man, an absolute monster, and that's you know, that's
- 10:02Speaker 1: part of the whole this whole season, this whole Halloween
- 10:04Speaker 1: thing that we're doing. There's the fun side of it.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There's the sort of comic book side of it, the
- 10:10Speaker 1: Freddy Krueger Jason Voorhees side of it, and then there's
- 10:14Speaker 1: the the real evil side of it. And we know
- 10:19Speaker 1: what side of the street this Sean Walkin's story is on.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I want to kind of slowly start to turn the
- 10:25Speaker 1: ship now toward the more fun side of the street here,
- 10:29Speaker 1: because you know, it's just a better hang. Like I said, monsters,
- 10:34Speaker 1: this guy was a monster. Monsters. They come in all
- 10:36Speaker 1: shapes and sizes, the real life monsters like Ian Walkins,
- 10:40Speaker 1: and the make believe kind, the less literal, the more
- 10:43Speaker 1: literary types of monsters. It happened to me, be more
- 10:46Speaker 1: fun when this month rolls around the ones in our fiction,
- 10:50Speaker 1: in the horror movies that we watch, and yes, in
- 10:53Speaker 1: the songs that we listen to, especially during the Halloween season. Now,
- 10:58Speaker 1: this has been a big topic around here, these parts
- 11:00Speaker 1: scary music, spooky music. I should say we did. We
- 11:03Speaker 1: did a bunch on it last week. We're gonna take
- 11:05Speaker 1: a different road into the into that subject today similarly
- 11:10Speaker 1: but not that different, but not exactly the same either.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Kind of running with this theme of of this monster
- 11:19Speaker 1: theme here, Zeth and I will be ticking through some
- 11:23Speaker 1: music recommendations of our favorite monster songs in the exclusive
- 11:27Speaker 1: section of this episode in a bit, and I promise
- 11:29Speaker 1: you that our recommendations will be tunes that you've likely
- 11:33Speaker 1: never heard. We're not gonna be recommending the Monster Mash
- 11:36Speaker 1: or Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cull, even though I love
- 11:39Speaker 1: both of those songs. You're gonna be getting tunes that
- 11:41Speaker 1: will make great additions to your October listening routine. And
- 11:46Speaker 1: like I said, it'll be real monster fair both literal
- 11:50Speaker 1: and literary. Okay, tunes that you're not gonna get anywhere else.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Tunes that will pull on your gen X heartstrings. Okay,
- 11:59Speaker 1: tunes that will make you long for an era long gone,
- 12:02Speaker 1: an era you are either part of a miss dearly
- 12:05Speaker 1: or missed and want to feel like you were there
- 12:08Speaker 1: and want to live in it. Nineties era Monster music recommendations,
- 12:12Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about. Songs about the worst of
- 12:15Speaker 1: the worst from the nineteen nineties coming up in the
- 12:17Speaker 1: exclusive section of this after party. But you've got to

- 13:15Speaker 1: into your disgrace sland feed, you heard our episode on

- 13:33Speaker 1: up next after this episode, we are continuing our romp
- 13:37Speaker 1: toward All Hallows Eve with classic Creepy Crawley rewind episodes
- 13:41Speaker 1: this week on the Norwegian black metal scene, and also
- 13:45Speaker 1: on one of the greatest bands to ever do it,
- 13:47Speaker 1: the Misfits next week, coming at you, those leather clad
- 13:50Speaker 1: Birmingham defenders of the Faith the Mighty Judas Priest, our
- 13:55Speaker 1: new episode on Priest. The band's origins, the relationship to
- 13:59Speaker 1: the whole safe Tannic panic thing that overtook North America
- 14:02Speaker 1: in the eighties, how the band got roped into that
- 14:05Speaker 1: disgraceful PMRC delio with Tipper Gore, and the suicide pack
- 14:09Speaker 1: lawsuit that threatened to ruin the band. That and a
- 14:12Speaker 1: whole lot of hot leather daddy action that you're not
- 14:15Speaker 1: gonna want to miss in our next episode on Judas
- 14:18Speaker 1: Priest coming up next week in your Disgraced Land feed. Now,
- 14:22Speaker 1: when you're listening to this episode on Priest, I want
- 14:25Speaker 1: you to be thinking about, well, this is an easy one.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I want to know who, in your opinion, is the
- 14:30Speaker 1: greatest metal band of all time and I want to
- 14:33Speaker 1: know why. Okay, Judas Priest part of the first generation
- 14:37Speaker 1: of great metal bands along with Black Sabbath, and this
- 14:39Speaker 1: episode deals with the question of who the greatest metal icons?
- 14:44Speaker 1: Who were they? Judas Priest in my estimation is definitely
- 14:48Speaker 1: one of them. But are they the best? Are are
- 14:50Speaker 1: they better than Black Sabbath? Can he give it to
- 14:52Speaker 1: them over Black Sabbath?
- 14:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I yeah, we'll talk about it more next week six
- 14:57Speaker 1: one seven nine oh six six three. Call me, send
- 15:01Speaker 1: me a text, lead me a voicemail, and let me
- 15:03Speaker 1: know who your metal icons are, and you know why
- 15:07Speaker 1: you love them, What they do for you, how they
- 15:10Speaker 1: make you feel, how you relate to their music, their lyrics,
- 15:14Speaker 1: their heaviness, how these bands, these artists compel you. I
- 15:17Speaker 1: want to know heavy music. I have a special place
- 15:20Speaker 1: in my heart for heavy music, and I know a
- 15:22Speaker 1: lot of you do as well. And even if you're
- 15:24Speaker 1: just one of these fly by night heavy music fans
- 15:27Speaker 1: like whatever, Like you're you're into what you're into and
- 15:29Speaker 1: it's not heavy, and who gives a shit? Right, hollod
- 15:31Speaker 1: o Its is cool even though they're not heavy metal. Right,
- 15:33Speaker 1: So you're at the you're at the football game or whatever,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and you know, just that song comes on by Metallica
- 15:38Speaker 1: or by I don't know, I don't know, I mean
- 15:40Speaker 1: Auzy whoever? It is, right, but it gets you going, right,
- 15:44Speaker 1: hockey fans, you know what I'm talking about that audio
- 15:46Speaker 1: Slave song comes I can't stand it. I don't like
- 15:49Speaker 1: audio Slave, but if I'm in a Bruins game an
- 15:50Speaker 1: audio Slave comes on, I'm like, all right, I'm listening.
- 15:54Speaker 1: What's this? What's the music that does that for you?
- 15:56Speaker 1: The heavy music? Let me know? Six one seven nine
- 15:59Speaker 1: oh six six six three to eight voicemail and text.
- 16:02Speaker 1: All right, speaking of calling me, I'm in the phone
- 16:05Speaker 1: both right now. It's someone across the hall. I'm hanging
- 16:06Speaker 1: on the telephone, which means it's time to hear from
- 16:10Speaker 1: you guys on last week's question of the week via
- 16:12Speaker 1: your voicemail and text. And that question was which songs
- 16:17Speaker 1: spooky out? Which tunes give you the hebgbis what music
- 16:22Speaker 1: is must listen for you around this particular time this season,
- 16:28Speaker 1: the spookiest time of year. The five to two oh
- 16:31Speaker 1: writes in Hey Jake, first time writing in It's Halloween,
- 16:34Speaker 1: so I haven't heard you even mentioned the genre of psychobilly,
- 16:38Speaker 1: the perfect mix of can't be spooky halloween rockabilly. Checkout Necromantics,
- 16:45Speaker 1: horror pops and coffincats too well. Listen five to two oh.
- 16:49Speaker 1: We just dropped last week. I know it's not strictly psycleobilly,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but we just dropped our Cramps episode in the feed
- 16:55Speaker 1: a little rewind taste for you. Go check that out,
- 16:58Speaker 1: all right, Obviously there's a psycho billy connection there, and
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure we do an okay job of explaining
- 17:03Speaker 1: that connection in the episode. Haven't listened in a while,
- 17:06Speaker 1: but it's available for you at the top of your feet,
- 17:07Speaker 1: that Cramps episode. Go check that out, give it a spin.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Four one two. Has nobody mentioned Frankie teardrop by Suicide
- 17:15Speaker 1: as the scariest song ever? If not, consider it mentioned
- 17:20Speaker 1: scary as fuck? So scary I can't listen to it
- 17:23Speaker 1: all the way through. I may also be a punk
- 17:25Speaker 1: ass bitch, though, so there's that too. Four one two.
- 17:29Speaker 1: You know, I read punk ass Bitch, and I guess,
- 17:32Speaker 1: you know, it kind of makes sense with Frankie Teardrop,
- 17:35Speaker 1: But I was like, hey, these are harsh words. And
- 17:38Speaker 1: then I scrolled up here in the text thread history
- 17:42Speaker 1: you've texted a couple times, and uh, I was like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: who's this dude writing punk ass bitch?
- 17:49Speaker 2: And it appears.
- 17:52Speaker 1: From this earlier text where you say what's up, Jake,
- 17:54Speaker 1: it appears you're a woman. Okay four one two, Okay,
- 17:56Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not gonna quibble. I guess with your
- 17:58Speaker 1: you know if you're saying punk ass bitch also appears
- 18:01Speaker 1: at your Pittsburgh Pirates fan yinser's what's up? How did
- 18:04Speaker 1: so many of you end up in our audience? I
- 18:07Speaker 1: don't know, but I love it? Keep it coming seven
- 18:10Speaker 1: seven five, writes in say, since you have two Judas
- 18:14Speaker 1: Priest songs on your list of great Halloween songs, why
- 18:17Speaker 1: not make it three? Beyond the Realms of Death from
- 18:19Speaker 1: Stained Class is one of my all time fave priestudents.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You're gonna hear all about stay in Class in this

- 18:35Speaker 1: they're making fun of my voice. It's okay. You want
- 18:38Speaker 1: to make fun of someone with a someone's accent? That
- 18:41Speaker 1: is that cool? Is that what we're doing?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Now? Just goes my kid?

- 20:15Speaker 1: Gatto writes in Hey Jake, longtime listener, the best spooky
- 20:19Speaker 1: ban of all time is Queens of the Stone Age.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Have you listened yet to Live at the Catacombs. It's dark, wet, drippy,
- 20:27Speaker 1: spooky and haunting, and they are keeping rock and roll alive.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And I wrote back to her, I'm husband yet, but
- 20:34Speaker 1: I need to thank you. Was listening to Queen's yesterday
- 20:39Speaker 1: at the gym and I think I hurt myself. That's
- 20:41Speaker 1: a true story, ladies and gentlemen. And Marissa went on
- 20:43Speaker 1: to say, get the vinyl light of Candle in the
- 20:45Speaker 1: Dark and listen to it loud. It's like you can
- 20:47Speaker 1: hear the spirits all right, Marissa. I dig that New
- 20:50Speaker 1: York City hardcore legend. Gavin van Vlack writes in Halloween
- 20:54Speaker 1: song Bela Lugosi's Dead Bawhus. I gotta admit and I
- 20:59Speaker 1: admitted it to Gavin bajaus is A is A. It's
- 21:02Speaker 1: a whiff for me. Man, It's a black hole in
- 21:05Speaker 1: my musical knowledge. I know I've heard this song before,
- 21:09Speaker 1: but I can't say that I'm familiar with this whole thing.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Gavin also recommended Sisters of Mercy Vision thing all right, Oh,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and then ghost Town by the Specials. Ghost Town by
- 21:19Speaker 1: the Specials. I know we've got that record on. It's
- 21:22Speaker 1: currently pulled out in our living room sort of vinyl
- 21:25Speaker 1: turntable area. It's not mine though, it's my son's, and
- 21:29Speaker 1: I didn't buy it for him, got it himself.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I like that, all right.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Let's check out this voicemail from the four eight Oh.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Hey, Jake, this is Jessica and the four eight oh
- 21:40Speaker 3: longtime listener, first time caller. Hopefully I'm not too late
- 21:44Speaker 3: for the after party. Question about the spooky story, but
- 21:47Speaker 3: my old house was very haunted. Lots of strange occurrences
- 21:52Speaker 3: happened there. The worst one, however, was one time my
- 21:56Speaker 3: oldest son was about two or three years old, and
- 21:59Speaker 3: I was measuring him against a growth chart that we
- 22:01Speaker 3: had on the wall, and all of a sudden, he
- 22:03Speaker 3: got this really scared look on his face. And he
- 22:06Speaker 3: clung onto my leg and I said, oh, buddy, what's
- 22:09Speaker 3: the matter. And he said, there's a man and I said,
- 22:13Speaker 3: he said right in back of you. There was nobody there,
- 22:17Speaker 3: and I completely froze and then ran out of the room.
- 22:21Speaker 3: But yeah, definitely one of the more spooky occurrences there.
- 22:24Speaker 3: But thanks again for a great pod.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Thanks for the spooky story, Jessica. Happy to hear that
- 22:30Speaker 1: everybody's all right. You want to send in more spooky stories?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Keep them coming. We're talking about that a couple of
- 22:35Speaker 1: weeks ago, but you want. I love it. I'm here
- 22:37Speaker 1: for it. That's what That's what October is for. Keep
- 22:40Speaker 1: them coming, guys, nine one three Texans, Sabbath forever. It's
- 22:45Speaker 1: cruel and usual to ask such a broad question, but
- 22:49Speaker 1: if there's a gun to my head, I'm blasting war pigs.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Rest in peace, Ozzie. Thank you. Love the show, especially
- 22:55Speaker 1: the Halloween episodes. Madison Miller Casemo responded to Madison, I said, hey,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you got it. Hope you dig the Judas Priest episode
- 23:03Speaker 1: coming up on Tuesday, and then Madison responded, sorry, I
- 23:06Speaker 1: think you might have the wrong number. I'm not sure
- 23:07Speaker 1: who this is. Madison it's Jake. It's Jake texting from Disgraceland.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Come on Madison, Screaming Lotus emails us disgracelamdpod at gmail

- 24:03Speaker 1: I are going to be getting into fairly shortly, but
- 24:07Speaker 1: right now I'm gonna take a quick break back in flash.
- 24:24Speaker 1: You know, I got almost forty eight hours of sports
- 24:28Speaker 1: fan blists this week. The Patriots won. Drake May look great,
- 24:31Speaker 1: Mike Vrabel, I'm convinced is the right coach. I watched
- 24:35Speaker 1: up up in the New England area, back in my hometown,
- 24:39Speaker 1: sat in a big living room with my stepdad and
- 24:42Speaker 1: my son, and my brother in law and his family
- 24:46Speaker 1: and just a bunch of dudes from New England sitting
- 24:49Speaker 1: around watching the Patriots. I can't explain how fucking awesome
- 24:54Speaker 1: that felt to do. I haven't done that in a while.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Just you know, it's real shitty out. It was ra
- 25:00Speaker 1: and on Sunday it was just you know, that kind
- 25:02Speaker 1: of made it even better.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I don't know why, it just did.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Just felt very familiar to me. And the Pats won
- 25:07Speaker 1: and it was fantastic, and I flew home and you know, now,
- 25:11Speaker 1: just you know, I was walking through the world yesterday
- 25:13Speaker 1: thinking how great it was to finally have a football
- 25:15Speaker 1: team that doesn't suck again, and just how you know
- 25:19Speaker 1: excited I am about this whole Drake May Mike Rabel thing.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And then bam this morning, get hit with this Red
- 25:28Speaker 1: Sox news so listen before I get into it. This
- 25:31Speaker 1: sixty second sports rant and under thirty seconds is once
- 25:33Speaker 1: again sponsored by five Hour Energies new Pumpkin Spice flavor,
- 25:36Speaker 1: your favorite fall drink in an energy shot. You can
- 25:38Speaker 1: pick up a Pumpkin Spice five hour Energy shot available
- 25:41Speaker 1: online at five hour Energy dot com or Amazon Mac.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Give me that ticker, you know. After the Red Sox
- 25:47Speaker 1: ended their season, most every Sox fan sitting here going
- 25:50Speaker 1: we overachieved this year, all right with this roster. This
- 25:53Speaker 1: is super young team. This team has glaring holes that
- 25:56Speaker 1: need to be addressed in free agency. The front office
- 25:59Speaker 1: needs to bring another picture, another starting pitcher, by the way,
- 26:02Speaker 1: a stud, a real number two, if not a second ace.
- 26:05Speaker 1: No sniffing around the margins with the ghost of Tommy
- 26:07Speaker 1: John's triple a cousin. We need a real arm and
- 26:10Speaker 1: we need a real bat. Just one more big bat.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Go get us Pete Polar Bear a Lonzo, bring back
- 26:15Speaker 1: kyleeg Schworber. And then, and then, and then we get
- 26:20Speaker 1: this news this morning that Alex Bregman is most likely
- 26:24Speaker 1: opting out of his contract and heading to free agency.
- 26:27Speaker 1: So now the Red Sox not only have to have
- 26:29Speaker 1: a stud pitcher and free agency come their way. They
- 26:32Speaker 1: also got to get that big bat still, and then
- 26:35Speaker 1: they have to re sign Alex Bregman. I can tell you,
- 26:38Speaker 1: can I prehet the Red Sox for something that they
- 26:41Speaker 1: haven't done yet, because I can almost all but guarantee
- 26:45Speaker 1: you that this pathetic, yes I said it, pathetic front
- 26:49Speaker 1: office doesn't make all three of these moves. There's no
- 26:52Speaker 1: way at best they'll make two. And if they do,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I guarantee they're going to use those two moves to
- 26:58Speaker 1: justify not making the third move. Because that's typical of
- 27:02Speaker 1: this front office, the Red Sox in the past decade,
- 27:04Speaker 1: the way they work. They find ways to justify being mid.
- 27:09Speaker 1: They find ways to spin us the fan base, into
- 27:12Speaker 1: believing that they actually care about competing with the Yankees
- 27:16Speaker 1: front office when they don't. They really don't. We're just
- 27:19Speaker 1: a line it and we're a bigger part of a
- 27:21Speaker 1: bigger business. It's going to be a long offseason. I'm
- 27:25Speaker 1: telling you that right now, just like this was a
- 27:27Speaker 1: long sixty second sport rant and under thirty seconds.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Matt one forty six, Jake.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Well them's the breaks. That was The Sports ran
- 27:37Speaker 1: sponsor by five Hour energies new pumpkin spice flavor. These
- 27:40Speaker 1: new Pumpkin Spice five hour Energy shots are fall in
- 27:43Speaker 1: a bottle and bring that classic pumpkin spice flavor that
- 27:47Speaker 1: we all know and love our favorite fall drink in
- 27:50Speaker 1: an energy shot. You can pick up a Pumpkin Spice
- 27:52Speaker 1: five hour Energy shot available online at five hour Energy
- 27:55Speaker 1: dot com or Amazon. All right, so you guys know
- 27:59Speaker 1: that the true crime is just our own unique way
- 28:02Speaker 1: into music history with Disgraced Land. Same goes for Hollywood Land.
- 28:05Speaker 1: True crime is just our lane in. It's our excuse
- 28:08Speaker 1: to talk about music and to talk about movies that
- 28:12Speaker 1: we love. Sometimes though, we just want to talk about
- 28:15Speaker 1: great music and great musicians and great movies and great
- 28:17Speaker 1: actors and actresses. Okay, just because some great musician didn't
- 28:22Speaker 1: commit some awful crime or have some awful crime happen
- 28:24Speaker 1: to them, or some great actor or actress you know,
- 28:26Speaker 1: same thing, doesn't mean we don't want to talk to them,
- 28:28Speaker 1: all right, Zeth Lundy, doctor Lundy, to you and to
- 28:31Speaker 1: me over in Double Love Us is Hollywood Land. Feed
- 28:33Speaker 1: has been killing it lately with this ongoing conversation about
- 28:36Speaker 1: Hollywood history that he's been happening with you guys. You
- 28:39Speaker 1: know this assuming you're listening. If you're not, and you
- 28:42Speaker 1: love movies and you want a conversation on film history
- 28:44Speaker 1: that you're not going to get anywhere else, and what
- 28:46Speaker 1: are you waiting for? You need to subscribe to Hollywood Land.
- 28:49Speaker 1: But anyways, back to what I was saying, we Zeth,
- 28:51Speaker 1: myself and all you guys, sometimes we just want to
- 28:54Speaker 1: talk about the music and the movies that we love,
- 28:57Speaker 1: even if we don't have a crime angle. And since
- 29:01Speaker 1: Zeth has started over in Hollywood Land, he's had some
- 29:04Speaker 1: pretty major icons die on his watch, Robert Redford a
- 29:09Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, and most recently Diane Keaton, and Zeth,
- 29:13Speaker 1: being the talented doctor that he is, has found this
- 29:16Speaker 1: unique skill in paying tribute to these giants of the screen.
- 29:19Speaker 1: If you want to hear what Zeth has to say
- 29:21Speaker 1: about Diane Keaton, who, make no bones about it, was
- 29:24Speaker 1: a giant talent, get on over to Hollywood Land and
- 29:27Speaker 1: whatever podcast have to use and hit subscribe. Here's the
- 29:30Speaker 1: taste of what you're missing.
- 29:33Speaker 4: I got to take a second and talk about the
- 29:35Speaker 4: late great Diane Keaton, who we just lost a few
- 29:38Speaker 4: days ago at the age of seventy nine. Sometimes I
- 29:42Speaker 4: actually forgot that her name was Diane Keaton and just
- 29:45Speaker 4: call her Annie Hall, because her entire persona, her style,
- 29:49Speaker 4: it was so entwined, at least in my mind, with
- 29:53Speaker 4: that great role she played in the nineteen seventy seven
- 29:55Speaker 4: What He Allen film, the film that earned her her
- 29:58Speaker 4: Academy Award for Best Actress. Her maiden name actually was Hall.
- 30:03Speaker 4: She changed it to Keaton, which was her mother's maiden name,
- 30:06Speaker 4: when she joined the Union, and there was already another
- 30:08Speaker 4: actress registered under the name Diane Hall. But Woody Allen
- 30:13Speaker 4: wrote that role for her, and so I've got to
- 30:15Speaker 4: think that the character was in many ways an echo
- 30:19Speaker 4: of the real Diane Keaton, just like Woody's character in
- 30:22Speaker 4: many ways as an echo of him. This was, of course,
- 30:24Speaker 4: five years after her big break as Kay and the Godfather,
- 30:28Speaker 4: a role she won out after Francis Ford Coppola auditioned
- 30:32Speaker 4: something like a hundred actresses. And this role, the role
- 30:35Speaker 4: of Kay, is so different from Annie Hall. I mean,
- 30:37Speaker 4: there's so much that Diane Keaton is doing in this movie,
- 30:41Speaker 4: but doing it low key. I mean, the whole movie
- 30:45Speaker 4: is in her face at the very end when Michael
- 30:48Speaker 4: lies to her and then the door shuts on him
- 30:50Speaker 4: as he's becoming the thing he never wanted to be,
- 30:53Speaker 4: which is basically the devil. But it's all in her face,
- 30:57Speaker 4: Your your entire understanding of what's happened, of what's just
- 31:01Speaker 4: happened over the course of the two plus hours, what's
- 31:04Speaker 4: going to happen. You see her seeing this and you're like,
- 31:07Speaker 4: oh fuck. It's one of the greatest non veriable pieces
- 31:11Speaker 4: of acting, of reacting ever on screen.
- 31:16Speaker 1: All right, that's the Hollywood Lamb Podcast. Make sure you're
- 31:18Speaker 1: following on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Speaking to people and things that we love. I am
- 31:25Speaker 1: stoked to get into this conversation with Zeth on the
- 31:27Speaker 1: music from the nineties about the worst of the worst,
- 31:30Speaker 1: the monsters, the slack demons, the creepers who give us
- 31:34Speaker 1: the creeps. Ian Watkins's murder last week in the Monster
- 31:38Speaker 1: Mansion inspired this drive down the dark Side. The recommendations
- 31:42Speaker 1: called the sac and I hope you are all signed
- 31:45Speaker 1: up as Rock and Roller members on Apple Podcasts or
- 31:47Speaker 1: Patreon so that you can hear this exclusive content. As always,
- 31:51Speaker 1: that cost is a mere five bucks a month, but
- 31:53Speaker 1: that cost is going up before the end of the month,

- 31:57Speaker 1: All Access members so you can hear at a reasonable price.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Of course, exclusive content like we have coming up right now,

- 32:07Speaker 1: see you after the.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Break, all right.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Aside from Black Sabbath, I don't know that we mentioned
- 32:26Speaker 1: any artists that we've previously covered in Disgrace and Today.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I guess that means that we're pretty forward thinking, pretty
- 32:33Speaker 1: forward looking, I should say. Maybe it also means we
- 32:36Speaker 1: need new episodes on Sisters of Mercy, maybe port his
- 32:41Speaker 1: head nine inch Nails. If you don't know what I'm
- 32:44Speaker 1: talking about, that means you didn't hear Zeth and I
- 32:45Speaker 1: in the All Access section. Matt will have the Black
- 32:49Speaker 1: Sabbath episode details in the show notes of this after
- 32:51Speaker 1: part if you want to easily find that story. Right now. However,
- 32:54Speaker 1: we are going to recap number one. This week's full episode,
