- 2:05laughing, or maybe he's smirking, I don't know.
- 2:08He's been on our show before. I got a chance to meet him two
- 2:11years ago at the Heisman Trophy. I guess the Eisman Trophy dinner
- 2:17and the opportunity to see the Gremlin win his Heisman, which
- 2:21Aston gently should have won. That's just my opinion.
- 2:24Ladies and gentlemen, we are now talking to USA TODAY college
- 2:27football writer Scooby Axon. Scooby, what's up?
- 2:31Gentlemen and gentlemen, how you doing today?
- 2:34First of all, before we get into college football, because we've
- 2:37been speaking a lot on the show about college football.
- 2:40How are you feeling, man? I know you had a little bit of
- 2:42surgery and. Yeah, I'm, I'm all right.
- 2:45You know, now the, the pain in my behind is picking up after my
- 2:52kid Christmas presents, $1000 of toys that he don't play with.
- 2:58I'm just like, dude, it's, it's, it's ridiculous.
- 3:02It's, you know, spending the Christmas Eve putting his stuff
- 3:07together, putting batteries in his RC toys and just like, it's
- 3:12it's ridiculous. You know, I'm just like, spend
- 3:16an hour cleaning up all this crap.
- 3:17He has like 100 Hot Wheels cars on just like that, man.
- 3:22Yeah, it's it's ridiculous. Well, I will say this, Jabba's
- 3:25the only one that has a kid and his kids like he's a teenager.
- 3:29The kid is actually he's Jabba said would probably tell you
- 3:33he's almost 20 years old. So he's not even a teenager
- 3:35anymore. He's almost a grown man.
- 3:37So it. Gets better than they just want
- 3:40clothes and those are easy to wrap.
- 3:42Well, I, I got like, he opened up the box of clothes that I've
- 3:45got him, like I got him like a Nike sweater, some Ralph Lauren
- 3:50polo stuff. He's like, get this mess out of
- 3:53my face. Like, like he's not even three
- 3:57years old. He's, he just tossed this to his
- 3:59side. Just like, no, I'm not having
- 4:00this. I'm like, OK, then go to daycare
- 4:03naked. I don't care.
- 4:07Yeah, yeah. I don't understand it, but yeah,
- 4:10supposedly it gets better. The the kid is in a 90
- 4:14percentile of height, which I don't understand.
- 4:17I'm only 5-10, wife is 5/4, so I don't understand that.
- 4:22But yeah, but I'll tell. You it gets more expensive.
- 4:27Oh, I'm yeah. Oh, I know.
- 4:30And it's New York City daycare. Oh, it's, oh, it's, oh, it's
- 4:34ridiculous. Yeah.
- 4:35You better be asking for your raise over there.
- 4:38I'm trying. I'm trying, man.
- 4:41Yeah. So I, I just had a before we
- 4:44start talking the College Football Playoff, the the beef
- 4:50I've had all year with the with the AP writers and the polls and
- 4:55everything that they're about now.
- 4:58I went to University of Oklahoma.
- 5:00Fine, but how can you? That's not fine, but.
- 5:04It it's not fine because it you know, it's but how can you win
- 5:10an award top kicker in the in the nation and be second team
- 5:16all American? How?
- 5:18How does that happen? That's a good question.
- 5:21I I don't, I, I don't again, the kid from Hawaii, great story,
- 5:26blah, blah, blah. But you know, Tate Sandel, Mr.
- 5:31Short Shorts had an amazing season.
- 5:34Anybody could see that. Mister Stevie Wonder could see
- 5:36that. So I I don't under I again, I
- 5:40just don't understand it. But this, this is not precedent.
- 5:44Like you remember when Eric Crouch won the Heisman?
- 5:46Oh yeah. Do you know who the first team
- 5:51All American quarterback was that year?
- 5:52Speedy would probably know. I don't know, I.
- 5:54Don't. Offhand, no.
- 5:56It wasn't Eric Crouch. It was Rex Grossman.
- 6:00Oh wow, no, I wouldn't have thought of that.
- 6:02Sexy Rex. He finished, yeah, he finished
- 6:04second in Heisman, by the way. So Eric Crouch made the team as
- 6:08a all-purpose player, if you can believe that.
- 6:11Super Bowl quarterback Rex Grossman.
- 6:14Excuse me, we actually just had, we just had that conversation
- 6:17because we just did a, a Nebraska Great Foundation event.
- 6:22And so I, I wanted to get people going on it because it just came
- 6:27up. Somebody was like who shouldn't
- 6:29have won the Heisman, whatever. And, and there was one show, I
- 6:31can't remember what it was. They're like, oh, he shouldn't
- 6:34have won it. And then he came up and I was
- 6:37like, what you, you were second team that year, weren't you?
- 6:41And he was like, yeah. And then he looked at he was
- 6:44like, and then it came up as I posted a picture because I just
- 6:48like I, I took the picture with and I've known Eric for a while
- 6:51and. Yeah, good dude, good dude,
- 6:54Yeah. Oh.
- 6:54He's awesome. And I just pointed to it and
- 6:57people went crazy and I'm just like, well, this thing's really
- 7:01heavy and he has it in his house, so.
- 7:03Yeah, no, yeah, 45 lbs. You know, try to get that thing
- 7:06through TSA. Good luck.
- 7:11I did find out he has it insured though too and it has its own
- 7:15carrying case. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:17Yep. That that's good again dealing
- 7:20with TSA out of LaGuardia or New York or JFK wherever they fly
- 7:24out of good luck. No, you know you might, you
- 7:29might get cavity search before you get that thing through
- 7:33security. Now I missed you at the Heisman
- 7:35Trophy dinner. I was there.
- 7:38Oh, I didn't even see you, so maybe I we didn't come up.
- 7:40I was. There.
- 7:42I didn't see you. You're at stealth mode.
- 7:44This year I was on stealth mode. I guess I was in a whole another
- 7:46world. But Jeremiah Love was there and
- 7:50I didn't want to ask him when I was asking my questions.
- 7:54I really wanted to ask him about Notre Dame and his his feelings
- 7:58towards them falling short because of the Yeah, the the
- 8:03committee and just the garbage and the excuses they made after
- 8:07they decided not to choose Notre Dame to move forward into this
- 8:11tournament. Were you surprised that Jeremiah
- 8:15didn't bring up at any point when people were interviewing
- 8:21him the thoughts and his feelings towards what the
- 8:24committee did to him? No, I wasn't surprised because
- 8:27it seemed like every every answer to whatever question he
- 8:31was asked was kind of politically correct.
- 8:35You know, he just gave the straight man answer, didn't want
- 8:38to ruffle any feathers, told the company line however you want to
- 8:42say it. So I'm not surprised he didn't
- 8:44go scorched earth because I would have came off the top rope
- 8:48if it was me. Like, like, like with with the
- 8:52elbow, with the leg drop. That that's, that's just me.
- 8:55But you know, he, he's a, he's a nice guy.
- 8:58So I, I didn't expect him to, you know, just, you know, go ham
- 9:02on everybody. Yeah.
- 9:04You being in the media and like the one thing that like I've
- 9:08always like now my son being in college and I'll have to do
- 9:11interviews. Do you guys respect that of the
- 9:15politically correct or do you? I I, I was always I, I wear my
- 9:20heart on my sleeve. Like, yeah, my life was an open
- 9:22book. So you ask whatever you want.
- 9:24I don't care about tell you what it is like through my failures,
- 9:27through my successes. I'm going to tell you because
- 9:30when we give you the power of the pen, it is different.
- 9:34So do you want do you want them to give the politically correct
- 9:36or do you go about it like trying to find a different way
- 9:41to go around the question cause y'all ask the same question 10
- 9:44different ways. Yeah, I, I think how I, yeah,
- 9:48how I approach it is whatever question I'm given.
- 9:53And if I need to follow up, if he he's not giving me anything,
- 9:56then I'll follow up with the next question.
- 9:58It doesn't bother me that these athletes are, you know, doing
- 10:02whatever or some of them have different personalities because
- 10:05I'm going to get my story regardless.
- 10:06That's how I look at it. Some of these journalists
- 10:09complain too much. I mean, all of them complain too
- 10:12much about that. Like this game sub, you know,
- 10:17the Miami, Texas A&M. Well, what the hell do you want?
- 10:21You know you can't have it all all ways that you want it.
- 10:25If you want that, then work at Burger King.
- 10:28Then you can have it chill way all day you.
- 10:30Know what I'm saying? Scooby, Scooby, we were there
- 10:33and I didn't see you there. But how many young writers were
- 10:36there and some of the questions they're asking?
- 10:38I mean, I talked with, I mean, and they had to make the, the,
- 10:43the Indiana kids. Yeah, I talked to a couple
- 10:45Indiana journalists and I'm just like, please.
- 10:49I mean, I would have got the hell out of Bloomington IN, too,
- 10:51if I had the chance to like, like, get me on this plane right
- 10:54now. I mean, and they were, and they
- 10:56were so grateful for the opportunity, you know, just to
- 10:59be there and to cover the event. Yeah, again, these young guys
- 11:04coming up, man, always tell young people my job is to keep
- 11:09my job. My job is not to write stories.
- 11:12My job is to keep my job any and every way that I can because I
- 11:16know there's 50 people that want my job.
- 11:18I'm. Going to say, Speaking of
- 11:19College Football Playoff controversy, like Notre Dame
- 11:21obviously not getting again, I'm sure there was a lot of
- 11:22complaints with that too, with some of the people that you've
- 11:25been with us. I don't know how directly
- 11:26involved with a lot of with the voters you're with, but
- 11:28Alabama's case or Notre Dame, Miami's case or Notre Dame.
- 11:31What are your thoughts? The the, the simple fact that
- 11:35all right, Alabama could have lost 70 to nothing and they
- 11:38still would have got in the predetermined case of who gets
- 11:43in kind of bothers me. You know, just, you know, during
- 11:46the SEC, the runner up is automatically going to make it.
- 11:53And then next year with the, you know, the memorandum
- 11:57understanding with Notre Dame top 12 automatically and like,
- 12:01like, come man like that, that kind of bothers me.
- 12:05But I would have I would have replaced Notre Dame with Alabama
- 12:09and had no issue with it. And again, Alabama justified the
- 12:15the committee's decision because they beat Oklahoma.
- 12:18So now they can breathe a sigh of relief.
- 12:22And so again, the the predetermination of it, you
- 12:27know, it is what it is. And everybody has a gripe and
- 12:31come January 20th, no one would care.
- 12:34So, you know, gripe about it for a month and then go about your
- 12:37lives. But like we all do.
- 12:39And by the way, everybody, if everybody doesn't know, we're
- 12:42talking to USA TODAY college football writer Scooby Axon.
- 12:46It's been on our show before. I met Scooby at the Heisman
- 12:49Trophy dinner two years ago. I didn't even know he was there
- 12:52this year. That just shows you how
- 12:53oblivious I was. I was in my own little world.
- 12:56I, I got a chance to talk to a lot of different people, a lot
- 12:59of different writers, a lot of young people that were there and
- 13:02some of the questions and, and I'll tell the, I'll tell you
- 13:05they're Scooby. I have no problems for these
- 13:07young guys to speak out. And I, I know they were, they
- 13:10were nice and they wanted to be there and I want to speak, but
- 13:13some of the questions and some of the ridiculousness of some of
- 13:16these guys and they were cutting off some of the veteran guys
- 13:19that wanted to speak. I didn't like that.
- 13:21I I I wanted to. Yeah, God, you just got a
- 13:24Stafford Pick 6. But anyway, we're watching.
- 13:29It too. You just lost that MVP.
- 13:32But yeah, look, because every year you get these people from,
- 13:37let's just say People magazine or fashion magazine.
- 13:41Like, what are you wearing? Like, I don't care come in a
- 13:44diaper. I don't care what the guy is
- 13:46wearing. Just, you know, just to you
- 13:48know, I'm wearing Ralph Lauren like like Javier, he looked like
- 13:53he was about to go on a mafia hit.
- 13:55Like like he he was he was chained up and he was he was
- 13:59getting going boy. Like he came in there mobbed up
- 14:02and I'm like I was pissed off. This was I mean, and the guys
- 14:06where they bling. I I love it that nil money.
- 14:09I love it absolutely. But yeah, it's it just seems
- 14:12like it wasn't like the the last year with Hunter did.
- 14:16Did you notice how? How straight got?
- 14:20First of all, first of all, you did not have to bring up the
- 14:24gremlin. OK, I here's the thing.
- 14:27And I remember last year very. Are you referring to Stripe or
- 14:31Gizmo? Stripe, not gizmo all right, so
- 14:37and we I gave him the nickname the gremlin and people are
- 14:39riding with it. But I I The thing is with Travis
- 14:43hunter last year when we were there, I just felt like there
- 14:48was an aura about him like he knew he was going to win.
- 14:51He absolutely deserved to win. And it kind of it kind of felt
- 14:56the same way with Diego. Diego believed that he should
- 15:00have walked away with it and ran away with it.
- 15:02And when he heard that Mendoza was picked over him, he was
- 15:06shocked. And then he took his blows out
- 15:09on on the committee and and then he apologized.
- 15:12But I was I was questioning the way he attacked it.
- 15:15Obviously that's the way he felt.
- 15:17Why he felt the need to apologize.
- 15:19Is that going to come back to bite him when he's interviewing
- 15:22with NFL teams? Shouldn't it be like what you do
- 15:27on the field? Like it like you could be a butt
- 15:30hole off the field. So what if you're producing on
- 15:33the field? Like just don't be out there
- 15:35committing felonies that that's all the NFL teams ask if you
- 15:39just don't be out there acting a fool unless.
- 15:41You're the readers where they allow that kind of behavior.
- 15:43Well, yeah, well, I mean. All the Dallas Cowboys.
- 15:46Or that so, yeah. I mean, there there have been
- 15:48people that have killed people and been on NFL rosters.
- 15:53So like, I mean, so again, if he thought that would come back to
- 15:58bite him or somebody got in his ear and said, you need to
- 16:00apologize and then Reese Davis, like, I regret my vote.
- 16:05Like no one asked you like that. That's the thing.
- 16:08These people like give their opinions.
- 16:11Like, no, no one asked you whether you regret your vote.
- 16:14You just came out and said it, you know, because of the way he
- 16:17acted. Again, if you just go go ham on
- 16:20people like that, don't apologize because that's the way
- 16:23you felt. I just think that's being, you
- 16:27know, it's counterproductive to do that.
- 16:30You know, once you say after the Heisman voters and I should have
- 16:34won, and then 24 hours later after the liquor wears off, you
- 16:38know, you, you apologize and no, I'm, I'm cool.
- 16:43I want to shift to the whole of Michigan saga with Shawn Moore.
- 16:45And. Everything that's happened out
- 16:47recently with that Kyle winning Kyle, Kyle Whittingham was just
- 16:51hired. There's the new coach.
- 16:52I think it's a good move. He's a, he's a winning top 10
- 16:54winning coach. I think City took over at Utah.
- 16:56But that whole saga, how that went down, and even the Stallion
- 16:59scandal from last year, do you think Michigan's lost a program
- 17:01reputation as a whole or they're still going to be considered a
- 17:04high end football program? Conspiracy theories are out
- 17:07there. I think if they beat Ohio State,
- 17:10he's still the head coach. I mean, that's just, you know,
- 17:15you, you beat your one rival. Well, it just seemed like they
- 17:19got they look for any reason to get rid of them after nine wins,
- 17:22nine wins in most programs. They're they're cheering, but
- 17:26not Michigan. They think their stuff don't
- 17:29stink. They think they should win every
- 17:30year. So that's the way it is.
- 17:33Again, they're going to have to deal with Oregon, Ohio State and
- 17:37Indiana and then next four or five years unless those programs
- 17:41are going somewhere else. So if they think they're going
- 17:45to win the national championship in the next 5 years while he's
- 17:49under contract, you know, one of those two or three teams need to
- 17:53drop off significantly. That's just not going to happen.
- 17:57So again, good hire to stabilize, stabilize the
- 18:01program. But I mean, in in five years,
- 18:06they'll be looking for a a new coach.
- 18:08If I was him, I would have stayed retired, collected that
- 18:11check from Utah because they basically offered him a
- 18:16significant job sitting on his tail at the time if he would
- 18:21have just retired. But hey, take that 8 million,
- 18:25brother, go right ahead. I'm not mad at it.
- 18:30Either yeah, I mean no. Same thing, but I wanted to go
- 18:34back to something and I'm interested too because I don't
- 18:37know and questions that I don't know how is that committee when
- 18:42they do certain things like obviously the Heisman, like how
- 18:46is that committee chosen? So you get there's a number of
- 18:51voters in each region, and then you get the former Heisman
- 18:56winners each have a vote. And then you have a fan vote.
- 19:00So the Heisman Trust chooses who votes.
- 19:06And so you have an equal number of voters in each of the six
- 19:09regions. And so they submit their vote.
- 19:13And I think they narrowed it down this year.
- 19:14They say, all right, you can't vote until Saturday at 5:00 PM
- 19:19of the conference championship and we're going to close it at
- 19:23like Monday at noon. So then the account is tabulate
- 19:26the votes and then that's how you get the ESPN.
- 19:29These are the top four. And then later in the week they
- 19:32announced the five through 10. So that's how it works.
- 19:35In professional sports, obviously you have guys that are
- 19:37on your beat all the time. Do you have to have a certain
- 19:40credential or work with a certain conglomerate to be able
- 19:44to? No, no, not at all.
- 19:46And the voters, you can look them up.
- 19:50Their, their names are readily available.
- 19:52So you can look them up just like, like I vote on the
- 19:55Blitnikoff Awards. So I mean, there's, I mean,
- 19:59there's got to be hundreds of us and some of these places that
- 20:04people work I've never heard of before.
- 20:07So like, I'm just like, so you get 870 something voters,
- 20:12there's a chance that you never heard of this place that this
- 20:16person works for and it is a Heisman voter.
- 20:19And let's, let's just be real. Some of it don't take it
- 20:23seriously because you know, no one is 100% on the ballot.
- 20:30So they're leaving names off the ballot, like Mandela's name was
- 20:34left off of 5% of the ballots. Like how do you do that?
- 20:38If you take your job seriously, You see what I'm saying?
- 20:42So some of these dudes don't watch a liquor college football
- 20:46all year, but still have the privilege to be voters.
- 20:49And the Heisman Trust delves out those.
- 20:53You know, those privileges to vote on the Heisman.
- 20:58We are talking to USA TODAY college football writer Scooby
- 21:02Axon. Scooby is we've built a good
- 21:05relationship. I again, I didn't see him at the
- 21:07Heisman Trophy dinner, but hey, you know what, maybe he was
- 21:11busy. I was busy.
- 21:12I was speaking to a lot of different people.
- 21:14Scooby, I'm going to tell you something.
- 21:17I sat right across the table from you.
- 21:19Really. How did I miss you at at dinner?
- 21:22How was it my cell phone? At dinner, the the the table
- 21:25next to the TV on the. Holy crap, now I do read that.
- 21:28Holy crap, it was. Yeah, that.
- 21:30That black dude, that was me. Wow, that makes you look like an
- 21:36asshole. You know, I don't think it
- 21:37makes. No, he was concentrating on that
- 21:39feast like we all were, because I, I, I know I was hungry than a
- 21:44hostage. I was concentrating on that
- 21:46food. I I was so yeah, I was a little
- 21:48lost in translation, but. It's all good, brother, it's all
- 21:52good. Scoopy, I got a good question
- 21:54for you. This this Oregon, Texas Tech
- 21:56game, it's the game that really sticks out to me out of all the
- 21:59games. And I, I think it's the battle
- 22:02of the offense against the battle of the defense.
- 22:04Dan Lanning is to me, one of my favorite coaches in college
- 22:07football. And Texas Tech is the best, I
- 22:11think the best defense in this tournament.
- 22:14You look at this game and this game is going to be played
- 22:16really down to the wire. I think whoever wins this game
- 22:20could really surprise the world and go to a national
- 22:24championship. Because I think Oregon, if they
- 22:25match up against Indiana and Indiana beat Alabama, they can
- 22:28beat them. I, I, I really do believe it.
- 22:30And I think they could beat a team like Alabama as well, and
- 22:34Texas Tech could beat anybody with that defense.
- 22:36They just need a score. What do you think?
- 22:39Do you think this is the best game out of all the games?
- 22:42I'm I'm really curious about the Miami Ohio State game, but the
- 22:47the Oregon game, I think Oregon needs to run the ball.
- 22:50I know Texas Tech is stout up front.
- 22:52You got Rodriguez and I saw that he was probable for the game on
- 22:56the injury report, but of course, I think he's going to
- 22:59play unless something catastrophic happens.
- 23:02But they need to run the ball and they need to run it
- 23:05effectively. You can't be in 3rd and seven,
- 23:07third and eight because your punters going to get much work
- 23:10that night. So if Oregon wants to advance,
- 23:14they need to run the ball first and foremost.
- 23:17And then once you loosen up that defense, take your shots, Dante,
- 23:21nothing downfield. You got the running lanes and
- 23:24that's how you get it done against Texas Tech because that
- 23:27that front, that NIL front is just too stout.
- 23:31And them boys are hungry. They got their NIL money.
- 23:33They won a championship. So Oregon, that's the key to
- 23:38victory in in what I see. That's just going to be a hell
- 23:42of a game. If anybody said they thought
- 23:43Texas Tech would make it this far, stay off the sauce at the
- 23:48end of the season like no one thought.
- 23:50No one thought they would be here.
- 23:52They thought they would be good. But playoff caliber.
- 23:54Come on. Yeah.
- 23:57Yes, I want to shift to the other game, the Alabama.
- 23:59What kind of sauce is it? Is it hot sauce?
- 24:01Oh, oh, you know what kind of sauce it is?
- 24:03It's Texas. It's always hot sauce.
- 24:07I just hope it's not sauce. Garner.
- 24:09Oh, not Sauce Gardner. Not BBQ sauce.
- 24:11You know what? You know what's up?
- 24:14I want to shift. I want to shift to the other
- 24:15game, the Indiana, Alabama matchup.
- 24:16I was under the impression that Oklahoma or Alabama, whoever won
- 24:20that game. I was wrong.
- 24:20I thought Oklahoma would win, but both of those teams could
- 24:23easily upset Indiana and both of those teams could actually go to
- 24:25the national championship. Now Alabama is there against
- 24:28Indiana. We've saw Ryan Williams kind of
- 24:30up and down throughout the year. Obviously, Alabama's got the
- 24:32really good defense and then Indiana had a good defense of
- 24:35showing against Ohio State in the national championship.
- 24:36What are the keys to victory for Indiana and for Alabama to get
- 24:39the upset? Again, I think the seven points
- 24:43that Indiana is getting is a bit much, but which Alabama team is
- 24:49going to show up? The one against Georgia where
- 24:52they just just stayed screwed? We're not going to run the ball
- 24:55because we can't and rely on those receivers.
- 24:58Again, it's I think with the 2 contest, Oregon, Indy, Oregon,
- 25:04Texas Tech in this game running the football because again, you
- 25:09go past it, 45 * 3 of those are coming back the other way.
- 25:15I'm just telling you now you need to establish some kind of
- 25:19of of running game. This is not the Texas Tech
- 25:22Graham Herald, Chris Kingsbury, you know, where you throw it 60
- 25:27times and and can come away with a victory that that's those days
- 25:31are long gone. So again, if they if they show
- 25:35up like they did against, you know, Georgia, you know, and
- 25:40they ran it a little bit against Oklahoma, Oklahoma turned the
- 25:42ball over and had horrible special teams.
- 25:45That's what got them beat and the ability, the ability not to
- 25:49keep a lead, which I don't understand, but you turn the
- 25:52ball over, that's what's going to happen to you.
- 25:54So play mistake free, establish a run.
- 25:58We're not talking about breaking off 3040 fifty yard runs, 4-5
- 26:04yards to pop on 1st down to get you in that second and 5:30 and
- 26:094:00 And then again, because if you turn the ball over, you're
- 26:13committing stupid penalties. It might be a wrap by halftime.
- 26:19Wow, because Indiana is that good.
- 26:22So you, you, you, you've touched on a few games and obviously you
- 26:28look it as a whole and and cover it all.
- 26:31Yeah, if you had to pick one right now, based upon what
- 26:37you've seen, who would be your winner right now to take the
- 26:42ship? Oh man.
- 26:47I picked Ohio State at the end of the year.
- 26:51Nothing that I've seen even against Indiana that that game
- 26:55reminded me. You remember a couple years ago
- 26:57when Ohio State played Michigan State in the Big 10 championship
- 27:01and they got beat and saw Urban Meyer on on the golf cart eating
- 27:05Papa John's after the after. That's what that reminded me of.
- 27:13And so like it just, I, I just think they're too talented.
- 27:19That defense is the absolute game record.
- 27:22And again, Carson Beck, you know, he can give you 5
- 27:27touchdowns or he can throw you 4 picks.
- 27:29Again, that's just how Miami is. But Miami got some dogs on
- 27:33defense too. If Ohio State is not careful,
- 27:37they can they can find themselves in a Texas A&M type
- 27:40game, low scoring, where the the first team that scores a
- 27:44touchdown or gets a turnover deep in the opponent's territory
- 27:49is going to win this game. You mentioned Carlson back.
- 27:52And by the way, I now I do remember you sitting down
- 27:56because we were talking about Miami, not lying.
- 27:59No, I'm being serious. Were we?
- 28:01Were we not talking about Miami? We were talking about Miami.
- 28:04We were talking about Miami. You didn't know it was him.
- 28:07No, dude, I, dude, I was in my own little world.
- 28:10And I again, I, I saw some people that I knew and I I was
- 28:13jumping ship here, you know, I was jumping from table to table.
- 28:16And he would tell, he would tell you that I was doing that.
- 28:19Yeah. So.
- 28:19So my question to you is costin Beck is a lot of people think
- 28:24could be a late first round pick.
- 28:26Now that obviously certain like seller is decided to go back to
- 28:30college for one more year. Beck could actually sneak into
- 28:34the first round possibly and and, and if he's not in the
- 28:37first round, he's an early second round pick.
- 28:39Some people like Carlson back and and think that this guy
- 28:43could be a good NFL quarterback. Some people think he's a bow
- 28:48Knicks type of player. What?
- 28:49What do you think? He is.
- 28:51So there is a couple of scenarios where Mendoza goes #1
- 28:57and you won't see another quarterback taken into the third
- 29:00or fourth round. Yep.
- 29:02Really. Really.
- 29:03Because they're waiting for next year's class.
- 29:07This would say Moore comes back to school.
- 29:09I don't know why he would, but let's just say he does.
- 29:14Then you might have a middle first round type of scenario
- 29:19with Mendoza and then more. And it just really depends on
- 29:24how many quarterback desperate teams are out there.
- 29:27Giants, Raiders, Browns. If they're not sticking with
- 29:32Sanders, those are three off the top.
- 29:36The Jets, I don't know what the he'll do.
- 29:40Well, I mean, the Giants can stick with Dart, but he just
- 29:42needs to stay healthy. So let's just say Jets, Raiders,
- 29:49Browns, those 3. And so again, if they like what
- 29:56they see. And of course, all of this is
- 29:58the in the beauty in the eye, the beholder.
- 30:01You know, it's like whatever you see, you know, a couple years
- 30:04ago, I don't know what the Colts was looking at when they chose
- 30:07Richardson, but they took him. They saw something.
- 30:11Again, if you want to have the the Stevie Wonder syndrome,
- 30:16that's your business. You know, you're going to pay
- 30:18for it. You know, you got to bring, you
- 30:21know, Old Man River in from, you know, Shady Ponds to the
- 30:25quarterback for you, you know, so.
- 30:29Hey, hold on, hold on. Stop picking that old man river.
- 30:32I he showed up. He actually at least he showed
- 30:36up. I'm.
- 30:36Impressed. I know, I know that arm was sore
- 30:38at the end of the game. I know he was soaking that in
- 30:41some Bengay with some Tiger bomb after the game, but yeah, that's
- 30:47just that's just how you evaluating quarterbacks, all
- 30:51these gurus. It's just whatever evaluator
- 30:54sees in that moment. Scooby.
- 30:56No one. That's the problem.
- 30:58That's the problem, yeah. Because even though you're
- 31:01looking at this class not to be a quarterback class, we have
- 31:04seen classes that everybody says it's not a quarterback class.
- 31:07And then you find two or three quarterbacks that.
- 31:10Yeah, franchise quarterbacks. Yes, I, I.
- 31:14You know these guys that do this for a living?
- 31:18No, Piper. We're supposed to retire 10
- 31:21years ago. Yeah, God bless them.
- 31:25Make that money, brother. You know, because they're wrong
- 31:28more often than not. I I remember a comic, his name
- 31:34is George Wallace. He's sign actually Seinfeld's
- 31:37best friend. He says what other profession
- 31:41like the weatherman, where you're always wrong?
- 31:43And they say come on back in tomorrow.
- 31:47They're always predicting stuff and they're always mostly wrong.
- 31:51It's like, come on back in tomorrow, do it again.
- 31:54It's just like these evaluators, you know, Now you mentioned Matt
- 31:58Ryan tied to the Falcons. Has anybody seen that?
- 32:03He knows how to evaluate anything He.
- 32:05Doesn't know how to evaluate how to throw a football anymore.
- 32:10I mean, so again, I'm not sure where these owners or these GM's
- 32:18are looking, but again, God bless them because their
- 32:22reputation, their jobs are on the line.
- 32:24If they don't, you know, they'll be pink slip.
- 32:28When is when is Black Monday is next Monday?
- 32:31When is the regular season in? It might as well be pink slip
- 32:34Monday. That's what I call it.
- 32:35Well, I want to tell you something.
- 32:37I wrote a story on the Worldwide Sports Radio Network making fun
- 32:40of Black Friday and how just impossibly stupid the the teams
- 32:45are when when you get off, the season's over and the first
- 32:49thing they're going to do is just throw your quarterback,
- 32:52Throw your quarterback. I mean, yeah, throw your
- 32:54quarterback and then throw your coach under the bus.
- 32:56Like, oh, oh, you can't, You can't.
- 32:58You don't know how to coach this guy.
- 33:00We got to bring in somebody. Else Dijon.
- 33:04Dijon, what's that 90 yards? That's.
- 33:07My guy. 93 yards. Oh, that's this is ridiculous.
- 33:11So, yeah, you speak of Black Friday.
- 33:13You remember back in the day where these idiots used to go to
- 33:16the store like 4:30 in the morning and wait and wait for
- 33:20the store to open, then get crushed with the doors open.
- 33:25You know, you might get trampled to get a damn Christmas present.
- 33:29Like, like now that's, that's, that's how it is when, when you
- 33:34compare what these GM's and, and all these evaluators have to do,
- 33:39you have to field a competent football team.
- 33:43And every year like The Jets yesterday, like I was like, get
- 33:48this off of my TV, man. This is, this is I don't want to
- 33:51watch this. I'd rather watch like a Lifetime
- 33:54movie. Why don't you cheer me up?
- 33:56Well I got what you're saying and I I understand and as AI do
- 34:00I do. I'm AII root, I root for The
- 34:03Jets and I'm an Eagles. Guy, Why?
- 34:05Because I'm a Jet fan. I don't know.
- 34:06Because because I do. I'm a Jet fan.
- 34:08I don't know why. I just.
- 34:10Am like are you are you like generationally tied to that
- 34:14team? Like like why?
- 34:15No, why? You know, when I was a kid, I,
- 34:18I, I was like 6 years old and I was watching a football game
- 34:22that just so happened to be The Jets and I started to be a Jet
- 34:26fan. I I'm.
- 34:27Also, mommy, this team is horrible.
- 34:29I like them. My mom wasn't a football fan and
- 34:31my father wasn't a sports fan, so they, they weren't really
- 34:34into that stuff. So I did and I was in I, when I,
- 34:38as I got older, I rooted also for the Eagles because I was a
- 34:40Donovan McNabb fan. I followed him in Syracuse.
- 34:43I followed him in high school. So I was a big fan of Donovan
- 34:47McNabb. And when, when he went to the
- 34:49Eagles, I rooted for the Eagles because The Jets were never
- 34:51good. So I, I always root on my team.
- 34:55Now I'm as an analyst. You know this when you when you
- 34:58get into this business, you really have to be honest with
- 35:01yourself and the taste that you root for so.
- 35:03Absolutely. And I'm honest.
- 35:04Absolutely like like I said, I went to University of Oklahoma,
- 35:07but I do not shed 1 tear when they lose because I went out
- 35:11there. You know, I know friends when
- 35:16oh, you lose this ruins their entire weekend, won't talk to
- 35:20the wife, won't talk to the kids, like just just absolutely
- 35:24destruct like I don't understand it, but that's.
- 35:26That's the club in Nebraska. That's what we've been
- 35:28struggling with for a long. Time like I like.
- 35:30I like the Braves. Me too.
- 35:32Because I I grew up on a military base in Oklahoma and
- 35:37the only channels we had were NBCCBS.
- 35:41Sure wasn't. The ABC and TBS, yeah.
- 35:47And they were the braids with absolute garbage.
- 35:49And so like that was the only thing going.
- 35:52So like I was just like, OK, I'm I'm, I'm rocking with so I know
- 35:55what you mean. I I know exactly what you mean
- 35:59with The Jets. You know, that's just your team
- 36:01and you just got to ride with the good, bad and the mostly
- 36:04ugly. No, I got to go ride with the
- 36:06good bag bad and and just throw up every single time I watch
- 36:09them. But I'm hoping that I know a lot
- 36:12of jet fans and and we're going to have to go.
- 36:14But I I I want to say something. I know a lot of jet fans are I
- 36:18don't know what's going on. What was with the press
- 36:21conference in the media with Aaron Glenn?
- 36:23I thought Aaron Glenn really looked bad yesterday, but I
- 36:27understand that. What are you going to say?
- 36:29What what are you going to say? This is you knew this was going
- 36:32to be a bad year and this wasn't your team.
- 36:34This is Robert Sala's team. So he went into the season
- 36:37thinking that or any Jet fan thought that they were going to
- 36:40win. And by the way, I am going to
- 36:42take a take a shot at somebody for years.
- 36:45I listen to these Jet fans and Jet guys on social media and
- 36:50this is attack to Jake Asman, all right?
- 36:53And I am going to attack him because this man went on after
- 36:56the game and attacked Aaron Glenn when before the season
- 37:00started, This guy has he was at a butt fetish for Aaron Glenn.
- 37:03Oh, my God, Aaron Glenn. Aaron.
- 37:06Yeah, I love this guy. This guy's great.
- 37:10And now all of a sudden get rid of him.
- 37:12That's the problem with jet guys and jet media guys.
- 37:17They they fall in love with guys and then they give up on the
- 37:19guys and you don't even give him a chance.
- 37:22And I think that's the problem with Aaron Glenn.
- 37:24I don't know. I know what Aaron Glenn is, but
- 37:25I I can't make a decision in one year what he is when we don't
- 37:29know if he could develop a quarterback or bring in.
- 37:32His it's it's not like it's not without precedent coaches
- 37:35getting fired after year one yeah, we've seen this a lot in
- 37:39the NFL. So again, if they do make the
- 37:42decision next Monday that they just can't stand losing like
- 37:47this because if they I think they were one of four teams that
- 37:53have lost four games in a row by more than 20 points in NFL
- 37:57history. So I mean, it's it's bad.
- 38:01It's as bad, yeah, it's bad. So again, if if they want to.
- 38:05They also traded their two best defensive players at the trade.
- 38:09Headline and you and you mentioned the Raiders like it's
- 38:12not only dependent on draft picks.
- 38:14These guys have almost $100 million in cap space.
- 38:17So spend that money on free agents.
- 38:20If you have to overpay, I mean, just to get some new blood in
- 38:25that building. If you have to overpay for some
- 38:27of these free agents, you just need something new in that
- 38:31building. You know, I think you got the
- 38:33running back. Get some offensive lineman, you
- 38:37know, get a quarterback in there that won't throw it to the other
- 38:40team. I think The Jets have the
- 38:41offensive line. They've got guys.
- 38:43That yes, yeah, Bruce Hall, Garrett Wilson is hurt, of
- 38:46course, but like, just get somebody who won't throw the
- 38:50who's not color blind throw the ball to your guys, please.
- 38:55Like, like for once in your life, Like, come on, you know,
- 38:59I'm serious. Like like who are you throwing
- 39:02to? I've never heard anybody say
- 39:06that. Well, get somebody who's not
- 39:08color blind. I don't know what else it is if
- 39:11they're checking these guys eyes at the facility before the
- 39:15season, like I don't know what what's going on.
- 39:18That's a good take. I'm just, I mean, that's what I
- 39:22see on my TV. Like I said, I just like, OK,
- 39:26that's the wrong color jersey and that wrong color jersey is
- 39:29going the other way with the football.
- 39:32But I just try to call it as I see it.
- 39:37You know, like I said, these guys are making millions of
- 39:40dollars having the privilege to play professional football.
- 39:44Take a little criticism, Stafford.
- 39:47Just that. Just sit on the bench, brother.
- 39:52It's OK. You're already in the playoffs.
- 39:55Yeah. So like I said, it's these teams
- 40:00at some, some days, like living in New York City, you just don't
- 40:04know what the hell they're doing.
- 40:05Like, like, like anybody else is with the incompetence of the
- 40:10Giants and Jets would have been fired, you know, banned from the
- 40:15league. You know anything.
- 40:18So again, he. Said banned from the league.
- 40:24I mean, do something like you just get the same old rotation
- 40:28of guys. You get fired one place, show up
- 40:30at another place and bring another guy in here that don't
- 40:33know what the hell he's doing. 3 or 4 years later he's fired.
- 40:36I I don't understand it, but you know.
- 40:39Scooby, you're a fantastic. You do such great, fantastic
- 40:44work for USA TODAY. Let's get you on after the
- 40:47season when when we find out who's going to win this national
- 40:51championship. Oh yeah, it's going, it's going
- 40:53to be, it's going to be lovely. Like I said, just I appreciate
- 40:57you guys always always enjoy a good laugh man because.
- 41:03Just make sure you're not color blind.
- 41:04Make sure you're not color blind, OK?
- 41:06Oh, Oh no, I'm not. Hey, I won't.
- 41:09I'm sure if I had any lick of athletic talent, I won't throw
- 41:12the ball to the wrong team. I could tell you that for damn
- 41:15sure, you know. So, all right, ladies and
- 41:20gentlemen, that is Scooby Axon. You know, USA TODAY college
- 41:25football extraordinaire knows his stuff.
- 41:28He is fantastic. Gave us a take color blind.
- 41:32Never heard a take where an analyst calls the Jet
- 41:37quarterbacks colorblind? That's pretty funny.
- 41:40Now the real question. That's funny.
- 41:41Who's better, The Jets colorblind quarterback or
- 41:44Shaddor Sanders, Prime blind? That's true.
- 41:47That's right, that's true. Keep them away from The Jets.
- 41:50I do not want Shaddor Sanders there.
- 41:52Would you denounce your fandom of Shaddor?
- 41:54Sanders goes. Yeah, I throw myself off a
- 41:56freaking roof. OK, No thanks anyways, we have
- 42:01save your tears. Mom, what's one thing?
- 42:05That you can't talk to me about my sexual fantasies?
- 42:08No, say yourself. This is not ideal, but if it's
- 42:12what means it is not ideal. But if it's this is not ideal.
- 42:15But if it is, what means? You can't treble stamp a double
- 42:18stamp. You can't treble stamp a double
- 42:19stamp Lloyd. You can't dribble stamp a double
- 42:21stamp, Lloyd you. Guys, now it's time for save
- 42:27your tears. All right, guys, time for the
- 42:32recap of Week 17 Seder tears. All right, again, this is one of
- 42:38those games where we have $15 a salary cap.
- 42:40We spend it on this collection of players from the three
- 42:44Christmas games this week. And we, if you watch the
- 42:47Christmas games, you know that it was some decent football,
- 42:51better than a lot of the football we got on Sunday.
- 42:54If you took Jameer Gibbs, if you had him in championship week in
- 42:57fantasy football like I did, you were not pleased with his
- 43:00efforts in this game. It's kind of up and down.
- 43:03We'll take a look at the results.
- 43:06Overall, only a few guys played in this week.
- 43:08And oh, lo and behold, I am the winner by a hair over Speedy,
- 43:15basically because I took that Prescott.
- 43:17I picked Jimmy or Gibbs. Big mistake.
- 43:20Gibbs was a mistake. Justin Jefferson has been a
- 43:23mistake all season. You know, we said at one point
- 43:27Wandell Robinson had the same stats as Justin Jefferson.
- 43:30Wandell Robinson has better stats than Justin Jefferson this
- 43:33year. That's pretty crazy.
- 43:35Wandell Robinson is going to get paid this offseason too, and
- 43:38it's not going to be by the Giants.
- 43:40At least it better not be. Anyway, I digress guys.
- 43:44Time for the compliment. Chorus.
- 43:47Errol, you came in the 4th place.
- 43:49How wonderful. All right, fish, you've been the
- 43:53back end. And I'm not talking about that
- 43:55kind of back end, but the back end. 51% positive.
- 43:59That's positive. Just just letting you know as
- 44:03you go down the road of the back end.
- 44:08The backbone of the show you really all the cartoons and the
- 44:14craziness that you add to the show is fantastic.
- 44:18I lean towards you in so many different ways.
- 44:21Offset and you've been a big part of some of the success and
- 44:26some of the work that we've done over the last past year and has
- 44:29given me a chance to just concentrate on the content.
- 44:32And so I appreciate you. And you know, even when you're
- 44:36sick, when you're sick and you're upset and you're angry, I
- 44:39still love you, man. So thank you for all the hard
- 44:42work and dedication of 2025 and 2026.
- 44:46It's going to be a really, really big year for you and for
- 44:49us. So get ready for this this drive
- 44:52to the finish line. All right, that's that was
- 44:56really sweet. I appreciate that third place
- 44:58finisher Tommy. Poops.
- 45:00Fish, my man, you know, I'm glad that I don't.
- 45:03I don't, I don't remember this probably either the second or
- 45:05third time that I remember giving you your compliments,
- 45:08giving you your flowers for being the king and save your
- 45:11tears. But man, congratulations.
- 45:13You know, like I all said, kind of piggybacking off of that, you
- 45:16know, nobody does what you do. Nobody can bring what you bring
- 45:20to the show. And for that, I appreciate you.
- 45:22I heavily appreciate it. Of course, everything you do,
- 45:24like Errol said. And you know, I thought I knew.
- 45:27I thought I knew New York football Giants until I met you.
- 45:31And you know, you were just one of the biggest Giants fans.
- 45:33And I absolutely love it, of course, being a fellow Giants
- 45:35fan, of course. So hey man, congratulations and
- 45:39to 2026. For our season champion and
- 45:42Speedy, after this week's episode, we are going to give
- 45:45you, I don't know exactly what it is we're going to give you
- 45:48Errol, but for the season championship, Speedy has to get
- 45:51something. Maybe we give him an advantage
- 45:54for the playoffs. What we'll do.
- 45:56Maybe it's something where like there's a small prize, Speedy,
- 46:00but you get like the advantage in the playoffs.
- 46:02So we'll talk about. Give you his finger Midget
- 46:04strippers. Midget strippers.
- 46:08Wow, you're going to go Paris? I am a legend.
- 46:11I'll remember that if you win a playoff, save your tears.
- 46:14I want to hit it. Jabba's being literal speedy.
- 46:19It's you're up, my friend. Yes.
- 46:21First of all, I'm surprised I was just that close to no man.
- 46:23Hold on, sorry. Don't get us canceled, little
- 46:24people. Strippers, sorry.
- 46:26Oh, I ran God. I think they prefer courtesan
- 46:32Jabba, little people, courtesans.
- 46:36Robust smack my ass. No.
- 46:41Droba droba ass licker. Well, all right, Speedy, just
- 46:47get it. Over First of all, again, I
- 46:49wasn't surprised, I was not close.
- 46:51I thought with all the Broncos I picked, I wasn't sure where that
- 46:53game was going the way it was ugly.
- 46:54But this should do an amazing job preparing this game.
- 46:57All the prep, all the random combinations that you've come up
- 47:00with to be creative, create some different players that could get
- 47:03in there and some different scenarios on how to play it.
- 47:06All the trials and tribulations we have to do throughout the
- 47:08year from Nathan had to figure out which receiver column was
- 47:11right to all the different positional advantages and
- 47:14scoring. You obviously prep this one very
- 47:15well and all the different point totals, all the different
- 47:18players involved, you do a fantastic job with this segment
- 47:20and coming out on top at the end.
- 47:23I appreciate it, Speedy. We are going to play the week 18
- 47:26version of this later on in the show because again, we only have
- 47:29one show this week. It's just.
- 47:31I love Lisa Ann. One show for Christmas, Week 1
- 47:34show for New Year's Week, but we're going to be back to Monday
- 47:36and Thursday starting next Monday in 2026.
- 47:41Save your tears Week 18 later on tonight.
- 47:44Mom, what's one thing? That you can't talk to me about
- 47:47my sexual fantasies. Say your sorry.
- 47:52It is not ideal, but if it's what means?
- 47:54It is not ideal, but if it's just not ideal.
- 47:56But if it is, what means? You can't treble stamp a double
- 47:59stamp. You can't treble stamp a double
- 48:00stamp Lloyd. You can't treble stamp a double.
- 48:02Stamp but but. You guys, now it's time for save
- 48:08your tears. By the way, I just want to give
- 48:13a shout out to the New York Jets for absolutely bombing on that
- 48:16game. That was embarrassing.
- 48:18Shame on The Jets organization for letting them go out there.
- 48:22That's all I'm going to say. We got more show.
- 48:24I know got more show I. Got it.
- 48:26Don't need to ruin later segments.
- 48:28All right, I'm sorry, here we go.
- 48:30We got the $15 salary cap for Savior Tears Week 18.
- 48:35I am the defending champion, so I will pick the order.
- 48:37We will pick our players from this group of games.
- 48:41I tried to figure out what games would actually have players
- 48:45trying. So I came up with the games.
- 48:47We talked about the Panthers face in the Bucks, the Ravens
- 48:49face in the Steelers, and I figured the Giants and Cowboys
- 48:52would just have it out because that's what they do.
- 48:55So here's the rosters that you could pick from $5 quarterback
- 48:59Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield for four, Lamar for three, Dart for
- 49:04two and Aaron Rodgers. Last chance perhaps to ever get
- 49:07Aaron Rodgers for a dollar at running back coming fresh off
- 49:11200 plus yards and four TDs Derek Henry followed by Javonte
- 49:15Williams, Bucky Irving, Jalen Warren and Tyrone Tracy.
- 49:20Junior at wide receivers one and two.
- 49:23I just keep doing this every time we have Cowboys put in
- 49:25George Pickens at one, $5 one and CD Lamb at the other.
- 49:29Just makes sense. They're that good.
- 49:31Zay Flowers at four and wide receiver one.
- 49:33Tedaroa McMillan, T Mac for three.
- 49:36MVS Yes, MVS is playing receiver for Aaron Rodgers this week, and
- 49:44Hopkins is another guy that blast from the past.
- 49:47He's a dollar player, real thin at receiver this week.
- 49:50Wandale Robinson is the $4.00 player looking to cash in on his
- 49:55big year in the offseason. Jalen Coker for three, Adam
- 49:58Thielen for two and the one with no hands whatsoever, Darius
- 50:03Slayden for a buck at tight end, Jake Ferguson for five, Theo
- 50:07Johnson for four, Mark Andrews 3K dot and two, and Pittsburgh's
- 50:11finest Pat Fryer move cleans it out.
- 50:15All right, so here we go to the board.
- 50:18I'm going to bring this back up and let's go with to start us
- 50:24off Tommy. Poops.
- 50:27All right, and let me just. Put it back up for you, all
- 50:30right? I was kind of looking at it
- 50:32before. I'm going to do this quick.
- 50:36I know exactly where I'm going to go.
- 50:37I'm going to go with Dak Prescott.
- 50:41I'm sorry, not Dak. I'm going to go Baker Mayfield
- 50:44$4.00. Then I'm going to go Derrick
- 50:47Henry for five, Give me TMAC, Adam Thielen and then
- 50:54Friarmouth. OK, so I have Baker, Henry,
- 51:00Tmac, Thielen and Friarmouth. That's it.
- 51:06All right, I need to know what Speedy's doing.
- 51:11All right, I'm going to go one of each number.
- 51:12Give me Baker, give me Tracy, give me McMillan, give me CD
- 51:17Lamb and K dot. Lamb and Auden.
- 51:22All right, so I got you, Baker, Tracy T Mac, Lamb and Auden.
- 51:28Let's go to. Let's go to Java.
- 51:34I'm going to go Baker, Bucky, Irving, George Pickens, then I'm
- 51:51going to go Slayton and then K dot.
- 52:00All right, I got you for Baker, Bucky, Pickens, Slayton and
- 52:03Auden. I'm going to go before you
- 52:08Errol, just so that you, you know that I'm going to be in
- 52:14your head because you're going to be thinking that you're
- 52:16copying my pics because they're so good.
- 52:20I'm going to go with Jackson Dart for 2 bucks.
- 52:25I am going to then take for the matchups again the Ravens
- 52:35defense. And overthink it, Fish.
- 52:39Yeah, the Giants aren't stopping Jovante Williams.
- 52:41Let's do that, Jovante. Then at receiver, I think I want
- 52:50to spend money at one of these. I think it's going to be TMAC.
- 52:59So what does that give me? I got 9, so I got 6 left, which
- 53:03is good. That gives me CD Lam and
- 53:07Friarmouth so I got dart, Jovante, T Mac Lamb and
- 53:13Friarmouth. Errol, finish it out.
- 53:16I'm gonna go Lamar. I'm gonna go Derrick Henry.
- 53:24I'm gonna go George Pickens. So how many?
- 53:30How much? Are we have two left?
- 53:31All right, just go 121. Dollar, I'm gonna go with.
- 53:34I'm gonna go with Darius Layton and Pat Vermouth, whatever his
- 53:39name is. So there you go.
- 53:41I'm going to go that because I I'm going to go, I'm going to go
- 53:44heavy on this one, so. All right, there it is guys.
- 53:48We'll go over the results on Monday and that will conclude
- 53:51the regular season for Save Your Tears.
- 53:54And again, if you don't like the results, he can't cry about it.
- 53:57You got to save your tears. Save.
- 53:59Fish. Hey Fish, can you bring that
- 54:01back up for a second? Yeah, I was going to bring up
- 54:04the the full screen of it just so we can take a look.
- 54:09Java's going to guess what, everyone.
- 54:10Takes. So we got three Bakers, we got a
- 54:15couple of Derrick Henry's. Looks like George Pickens was
- 54:20popular, so was Ted Rowan McMillan, Couple of Lambs and
- 54:23Sladens, and three Fire moths and two Audens.
- 54:28Interesting choices, boys. All right, I've got I've got 1
- 54:33coming in from one of one of my buddies.
- 54:37Shout out to Jeremy, who's listening right now.
- 54:40And so he I'm going to I'm going to make a bet with him who wins
- 54:44this week. And so he wants Jackson Dart.
- 54:52All right, so let's just put him over here on the side.
- 54:54Here we go, Dart. Then he wants Derrick Henry, T
- 55:02Mac, that's 10 Wandell. And then he has the dollar left.
- 55:12So you got far enough. All right, Jeremy, here you go.
- 55:18All right, so you're in the game, Jeremy.
- 55:19That's actually not a bad idea. Maybe we can get some fans every
- 55:22week to to be to play along. That might be something fun that
- 55:25we can do as we evolve this game.
- 55:29Not bad. It's been a great year and it's
- 55:31been a full year with Jabba Chamberlain.
- 55:33It's been a full year with Fish. It's been a full year with all
- 55:36of you guys. It's been a great one.
- 55:40The factor where we are and where we're going to be next
- 55:43year could be special. I, I couldn't have done it
- 55:47without any of you guys. I again, specifically the work
- 55:52that gets put on on put in on the back end is, is amazing and
- 55:58I appreciate everybody's hard work and dedication.
- 56:00I, I have a lot of love for everybody, all the fans out
- 56:03there listening to us and TuneIn and download and look out for
- 56:07the craziness that could come about this show.
- 56:11We appreciate you guys and I, I guess I'm going to speak for, I
- 56:14guess unless Java wants to speak to for, for the fans.
- 56:18I I appreciate everybody that puts the work into this show so.
- 56:24Yeah, I mean, I don't, I don't know if words can express you
- 56:27guys have literally, I thought I was a sports fan.
- 56:31I wasn't. And you guys have opened my eyes
- 56:34to so many things and where I pay attention to so many things
- 56:38different because I don't want to sound like a Jackass.
- 56:42And you guys have just like opened me up where I look at
- 56:46sports so differently and it's made me look at life
- 56:50differently. And, you know, just embodying
- 56:53what sports can do for all of us and not only opening us up to to
- 57:01different perspectives and different thoughts and views,
- 57:04but opening us up as people. And you think that's the
- 57:08greatest thing about sports. And I think that's the greatest
- 57:10thing about this show because you don't ever know what you're
- 57:12going to get. And it's been awesome.
- 57:14It's been frustrating at times. It definitely has.
- 57:18I love you guys, but it has been and you know, we crawl before we
- 57:23walk and it's just been it. It's going to be a fun journey.
- 57:27And I know it's frustrating sometimes for, for all of us in,
- 57:31in different ways, but I'm so grateful to have these moments
- 57:38and, and where I can, I can share my thoughts and I can be
- 57:42me. And, and you guys don't judge me
- 57:45and our fans don't because I love them because they're the
- 57:49reason why we do this. We love sports, but we love
- 57:53giving a different perspective and maybe a different thought or
- 57:57a different view. So man, I hope it's been a fun
- 58:01year. I think we've learned a lot from
- 58:03each other and I, I truly, genuinely appreciate that.
- 58:07And it's been a tough year for everybody.
- 58:09Like, I mean, that's, that's life though.
- 58:12But what we look forward to is, is the things that lie ahead and
- 58:17just very fortunate to be in this opportunity and and do
- 58:21these things with you guys. So I appreciate first and
- 58:24foremost, because I know time is precious and I appreciate your
- 58:28guys's time. And more importantly, I
- 58:31appreciate you use the effort and the fact that you care about
- 58:34what we're doing and just thank you guys so much.
- 58:38I mean, there's, there's not much more I can say.
- 58:40I want to before I let everybody go and I want to thank everybody
- 58:45on Apple and Spotify that TuneIn and download and write all these
- 58:51crazy things on all the Reddit fans that say the the most
- 58:57derogatory funny things I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 59:01And on Instagram and TikTok and Facebook and all the fans, Jabba
- 59:06the mouth fans in worldwide sports radio network fans out
- 59:10there and all the guys that do their shows, you know, from, you
- 59:14know, Josh Silverberg and his father and Eric and and then
- 59:18snowman. Thank you to them for really
- 59:21putting out a good product. And and like I said, next year
- 59:26is a week away or less than a week away, actually a couple
- 59:29days away. And I'm going to say one thing
- 59:32to all the fans and all the people out there and all the
- 59:35podcasts out there, watch out. So I'm going to say you can take
- 59:40it whatever way you want. Watch the F out.
- 59:45That's it anyways. I'm just going to give you 2
- 59:47lines, Errol, that no one has got a more original show than
- 59:51what we do here. Everyone's got sports takes, but
- 59:54no one has the creativity. People are stealing segments
- 59:57from us that we see on the big shows. 100% that I know that I
- 1:00:01came up with with you on the phone, Errol.
- 1:00:03You know, so I'm real proud of kind of being a trendsetter.
- 1:00:08As well in an industry that seems to be a lot of the same.
- 1:00:12Lost, Absolutely lost. You're absolutely right.
- 1:00:15Fish lost. And that's what you're seeing
- 1:00:18right now with WFAN. And they're firing people and
- 1:00:22many people go and Trinity Sports is gone and everything is
- 1:00:26flopping around and they're trying to figure out what to do
- 1:00:28next. Here's what you do.
- 1:00:30Watch out and look at the the talent that's out there and
- 1:00:34realize that there is talent right in front of your faces.
- 1:00:37Open up your checkbooks and get ready because you're going to be
- 1:00:41paying. That's all I'm going to say.
- 1:00:42You're going to be paying because you had, you had this
- 1:00:46sitting for such a long time and you're going to be paying.
- 1:00:50That's all I'm going to say. That's it.
- 1:00:51I, I had to add that because I'm just disgusted with the garbage
- 1:00:56that I've seen on television and radio over the last couple of
- 1:00:59years and it makes me sick to my stomach.
- 1:01:01Anyways, I'm going to let you guys say your final goodbyes for
- 1:01:05the new year. Tommy, you first.
- 1:01:08Yeah, you guys pretty much said a lot of it.
- 1:01:10You know, we've been putting a lot of work and especially
- 1:01:13thanks to you guys, you know, I don't think any of us can do
- 1:01:15ones job without the other. So I really do appreciate, you
- 1:01:18know, all the hard work that you guys put into the show.
- 1:01:20You know, I really appreciate you guys, you know, being
- 1:01:23welcomed in every to every. Week.
- 1:01:24It's fish and speedy, just so you know.
- 1:01:26Of course, yeah, Fish and speedy, you know you guys are
- 1:01:28awesome. Jabba and Arrow, you know you
- 1:01:29guys being the on air talents. Of course, you know you guys
- 1:01:32doing what you guys do. You know it's all appreciative.
- 1:01:35Of course, even Nathan. Shout out to the man.
- 1:01:37Nathan is in here, the PR manager, the man himself.
- 1:01:42But you, it's been a whole hell of a 365 days and looking
- 1:01:47forward to another 365 with y'all.
- 1:01:50Yeah, it's I've definitely been appreciative of all you guys are
- 1:01:52bringing me in eight years ago and seeing all different people
- 1:01:56come and go with this network too, but always supporting me
- 1:01:58and always helping me out with everything on the on the show
- 1:02:02and throughout the network as well.
- 1:02:03And all the guys that have been coming and going on this show as
- 1:02:06well. Fish you bring brought a new new
- 1:02:08vibe since you joined the show back in January of 2024 and
- 1:02:11you've done a lot of great things.
- 1:02:13Tommy. You've been always a the social
- 1:02:15media guy, fun guy to talk with offset a lot of the time even
- 1:02:18before Jabba you came along and Jabba reaching out to you for
- 1:02:21the first time as a guest. I reached out to a lot of
- 1:02:22different Yankees and first time you ever had you in the show.
- 1:02:25You were a tremendous storyteller and and reached out
- 1:02:28at the time with the Yankees playoffs and obviously we built
- 1:02:31something very nice and Nathan as well and Nick Goody, Nathan
- 1:02:34with. Goody.
- 1:02:35That. Shout out to Goody.
- 1:02:37Yeah, Goody, Goody. The first time we had him on the
- 1:02:39show, it was funny. It was actually the first week
- 1:02:42we had Sylvester Williams on the show last year too.
- 1:02:43It was also the same week we had Goody on the same day and, and
- 1:02:46Goody Goody. I remember Goody because he came
- 1:02:48in 10 minutes early. I never saw a guest come in that
- 1:02:50early ever. And he was so fired up.
- 1:02:52He was so funny and always brought that good vibes.
- 1:02:54And of course, Nathan is our PR guy doing some great things.
- 1:02:57All this event planning, all that stuff.
- 1:02:59Fantastic. And shout out to all the fans,
- 1:03:00all the ones I've met in person, all the ones I have it in person
- 1:03:02for supporting what we do. Here, I don't want to say
- 1:03:04something else before I go to drop a Chamberlain.
- 1:03:07I didn't think this was going to work.
- 1:03:09I didn't all right, I did. I'm going to be honest with you,
- 1:03:13I didn't think it was going to work, but it's been a fun ride
- 1:03:16and it's going to be a fun ride in 2026 because I I feel like
- 1:03:21we've built a good, good vibe and a good relationship.
