Well, until next week for Dr. Dreyfraindr, sorry 43 00:03:15,000 --> 00:03:17,000 Sorry, this has been 44 00:03:17,000 --> 00:03:25,500 But, but dude shout out to Dustin Rose for three matches in a less than a 24 hour window 45 00:03:25,500 --> 00:03:32,500 I mean, I think he had about almost an hour of actual ring time in his 50s 46 00:03:32,500 --> 00:03:38,500 So, I mean, and within one day like that is an incredible feat for anybody 47 00:03:38,500 --> 00:03:49,500 You know, but to break it up over three matches, three distinct different style matches and perform as well as he did, that dude's incredible 48 00:03:49,500 --> 00:03:54,500 Like I, he may be when we talk about most underrated wrestlers of all time 49 00:03:54,500 --> 00:04:01,500 He's in that Mr. Henning, or Mr. Perfect Kurt Henning era, like I think he's sorely underappreciated 50 00:04:01,500 --> 00:04:07,500 Oh, absolutely, I mean, and I think there was a period of time where he actually like destroyed his career 51 00:04:07,500 --> 00:04:11,000 Just because it's like personal things that were going on with him 52 00:04:11,000 --> 00:04:15,000 I mean, Gold Dust is one of the most influential characters of the 90s by far 53 00:04:15,000 --> 00:04:21,000 I don't know if we get to the added to their, if it wasn't for Gold Dust 54 00:04:21,000 --> 00:04:28,500 So, it's something amazing that he is still doing this and I agree with you 55 00:04:28,500 --> 00:04:33,500 He's one of the most underrated or underappreciated wrestlers of all time 56 00:04:33,500 --> 00:04:38,500 And I think coming off this weekend, I think there is that new appreciation for him, which is great to see 57 00:04:38,500 --> 00:04:43,500 So props to Dustin Rhodes, our new AWT&T champion 58 00:04:43,500 --> 00:04:47,500 We will pick which one of the shows won the weekend 59 00:04:47,500 --> 00:04:52,500 But I guess let's just because we kind of like we're naturally getting to this point out to trade 60 00:04:52,500 --> 00:04:56,500 If we're looking at seven to eight hours of professional wrestling 61 00:04:56,500 --> 00:05:01,000 I don't think AW will be able to do a two night event like WWE is doing right now 62 00:05:01,000 --> 00:05:06,000 Just at their current climate and the way the business is and that's just being totally blunt and honest 63 00:05:06,000 --> 00:05:13,000 But is seven hours plus way too much professional wrestling all for one day in one show? 64 00:05:13,000 --> 00:05:21,000 Yeah, I think especially like when you and I have talked about this over the, you know, the 15 years we've been doing the show 65 00:05:21,000 --> 00:05:25,000 Like the attention span of wrestling fans have gotten short 66 00:05:25,000 --> 00:05:33,000 And we have so many more things around us that can distract us than we did when we first started the show 67 00:05:33,000 --> 00:05:39,000 That not go like I'm sitting there watching the show on my, you know, on my phone and then I streamed it to my TV 68 00:05:39,000 --> 00:05:49,000 But I'm literally watching it and like I'm zoning out at the time and it wasn't because of anything bad AW was doing in that seven hours 69 00:05:49,000 --> 00:05:58,000 It was literally because my brain goes like this is too much pull up, you know, check your messages, check your, you know, phone, you know, check your emails 70 00:05:58,000 --> 00:06:06,000 Like I'm still I'm distracted where on the shorter ones I feel like I can consume it easier than I can the seven hours 71 00:06:06,000 --> 00:06:12,000 Like it just it does kind of like when you're done you're kind of exhausted by the end of the show 72 00:06:12,000 --> 00:06:25,000 You can see that even like they did a good job of holding the fans passion the entire show but you can, I mean you can feel it in the building like, man by the time they got that final payoff 73 00:06:25,000 --> 00:06:29,000 The crowd in the arena was exhausted as well 74 00:06:29,000 --> 00:06:33,000 Yeah, I think for this day and age it is too much wrestling 75 00:06:33,000 --> 00:06:40,000 It's, I couldn't be able to sit in watching one sitting I did not watch it live 76 00:06:40,000 --> 00:06:49,000 It's just it's too much it's you're killing a Saturday if you've got a family good luck if you're married good luck if you've got kids good luck 77 00:06:49,000 --> 00:06:55,000 If you're able to pull it together and have like a family outing more power to you I wish mine was like that but it is too much 78 00:06:55,000 --> 00:07:02,000 And I think AW is just kind of strapped based off of the current business model where they need to be the best wrestling show 79 00:07:02,000 --> 00:07:13,000 They want to do seven hours professional wrestling more power to them I think in a perfect world they could do two nights it's just they're not there yet and hopefully they get there over time because that seems to be the new thing we'll have summer slam 80 00:07:13,000 --> 00:07:19,000 First time it'll be stretched over two nights and just a couple of weeks we'll preview predict that once it gets closer here early August 81 00:07:19,000 --> 00:07:29,000 And that seems to be the new model nowadays it's outside of that I just feel like we are getting like normal AW shows go about four hours 82 00:07:29,000 --> 00:07:43,000 Not counting the pre show the WWE's got the PLEs under three hours at this point close to like four hours if you if you watch it live and you see all the commercials and stuff in between in the buildup 83 00:07:43,000 --> 00:07:55,000 But if you watch it on demand like I do typically most of the time on on peacock those shows are running like little under three hours three hours and 30 minutes I think evolution in great American bash went 84 00:07:55,000 --> 00:08:04,000 And I think that's the sweet spot I mean you don't want to lose people doctorate especially the live crowd you do not want to lose the live crowd with these long shows 85 00:08:04,000 --> 00:08:15,000 Yeah and you know like I we talked about the last cup the last two WrestleMania is that were you know seven eight hours and you felt that in the building by the end of the show the crowd's exhausted 86 00:08:15,000 --> 00:08:29,000 And we've seen it on AW the last four years that you and I have been like guys seriously five hours six hours seven hours you have to break it up not just for your audience to maintain their energy throughout 87 00:08:29,000 --> 00:08:32,000 Because the last thing you want is you don't want your main event 88 00:08:32,000 --> 00:08:48,000 Closing out a show and the crowd so exhausted that they're really not that they're into it but they just don't have the energy to really clap and cheer and applaud and we've seen that with AW shows in the past where the show closes and you're just like 89 00:08:48,000 --> 00:09:00,000 Oh that's fine. Yeah good job. You survived I did it. Yeah we did it. High fives around. It's like you need a ribbon to say like I survived AW all it. 90 00:09:00,000 --> 00:09:10,000 Yeah it literally was that like and and you know even at times they've done like when they would do Sunday shows like you're doing eight hours and then leading into another show or something else 91 00:09:10,000 --> 00:09:20,000 It's like you're just mentally drained from all this like can I watch saving saving private Ryan and you know apocalypse now back to back 92 00:09:20,000 --> 00:09:36,000 No by the end of it I'm tired of war movies is like there there needs to be some kind of sweet spot for that but I will say like with when they do a big show like all in or revolution that crowd I mean they're they're paying for the experience 93 00:09:36,000 --> 00:09:52,000 You could break it up and still maintain probably close to the the the tickets you got for that one like you could do all in Wembley in two nights and I'm pretty sure you could probably still draw 70,000 people both nights like they just announced that we do in that next year 94 00:09:52,000 --> 00:10:02,000 So not two nights but they're gonna be doing Wembley again. Yeah and I think was I read the only reason they didn't do this year was cold play had a book and cold play wouldn't be better. 95 00:10:02,000 --> 00:10:14,000 I hate when cold play gets in the way quite honestly I did just read a great article that cold play just broke up a marriage. Yeah that is that is very viral right now Dr. True 96 00:10:14,000 --> 00:10:24,000 But it's just like but like you know a place like Wembley or a place like if they did all in and to Ron's a place is or maybe that's wrong but like places that don't get wrestling that often 97 00:10:24,000 --> 00:10:37,000 They could do a two night show and still pack pack the building out so I think they just need to find kind of a sweet spot for their big shows and that way they could still pack it out tonight and it's more digestible to the audience at that point. 98 00:10:37,000 --> 00:10:46,000 Let's go through the shows from the weekend and get our thoughts here and you know give some recap and then we'll wrap it all up by picking what show we thought one the weekend. 99 00:10:46,000 --> 00:11:00,000 We'll start with the NXD great American bash doctor tray overall I thought it was a very strong show I thought Ethan Page versus Ricky Saints was an awesome match loved Soul Rooka versus Izzy Dame as well I thought that delivered and I thought there was no 100 00:11:00,000 --> 00:11:12,000 Week matches on the card for a card that was not built well I thought NXT had a really good show and I think out of everything that took place this weekend I think this is going to get lost in the shuffle just because it's NXT. 101 00:11:12,000 --> 00:11:25,000 You know it was airing the same time as AW all in Texas if you haven't watched it yet it is a very strong wrestling show which which call me off guard your thoughts and take away from NXT great American bash this weekend. 102 00:11:25,000 --> 00:11:41,000 Yeah it reminded me in a sense of maybe some I don't say the black and gold era but like just we have some pay you know PLE's back in the day where like there wasn't great build but the matches were fantastic and it's it's also kind of the knock that we used to give AW were like the entering stuff was great. 103 00:11:41,000 --> 00:11:51,000 But there was a lot of good build to it and that's kind of how I felt about this like in ring wise I thought the show was fantastic like Saints in page was incredible. 104 00:11:51,000 --> 00:11:58,000 I enjoyed the hell of that match the Soul Rooka match Izzy Dame match I thought was really was really good as well. 105 00:11:58,000 --> 00:12:07,000 You know the the OBA Femme match I thought was solid Javon Evans in Jasper Troy I thought was solid. 106 00:12:07,000 --> 00:12:18,000 I thought it was a solid wrestling show from top to bottom like no weak spots just lacking a really good build to really get me to bite into it. 107 00:12:18,000 --> 00:12:31,000 Yeah I thought it was again really solid show if you want to watch good wrestling for 2.5 hours like a really solid episode of NXT highly recommend great American bash they came from center stage in Atlanta GA. 108 00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:50,000 Saturday night main event to me there was like 2 major things the first being Seth Rollins injury there's a lot of stuff out there if it's legit or work Seth went was hosting the rich eyes and show on Wednesday and said that his knee is too swollen right now they could not get in my mind Birmingham. 109 00:12:50,000 --> 00:12:57,000 You're hearing reports out there that it's legit there are people people out there that say it to work to build something built something else. 110 00:12:57,000 --> 00:13:20,000 There is definitely parts of this creative team that would not shock me if it was a work but I do feel like it's legit and then Goldberg seemed to get a proper send off then he complained 2 days later so let's start with the Seth Rollins same doctor because this is obviously a big story legit or work in your opinion. 111 00:13:20,000 --> 00:13:29,000 I think it's a legit thing that has been turned into a work like I don't know how bad the injury really is. 112 00:13:29,000 --> 00:13:39,000 I mean it's bad enough to call like if the audible is a shoot the L.A. night getting the win because the injury if that's a shoot then they've done it really well. 113 00:13:39,000 --> 00:13:53,000 To me when I hear like hey we're in Birmingham with arguably the best medical team in the country and we can't get a diagnosis that feels like a work. 114 00:13:53,000 --> 00:14:04,000 So I think it's a shoot injury a legit injury that they're using as a work to set to something bigger down the line when they know he can be back. 115 00:14:04,000 --> 00:14:32,000 It's not great. I think that there's a concern right now Dr. Trey that is he injury prone right is Seth Rollins injury prone because now this is what the third or I actually forgot one in this there's the the tear he had in 2015 when he was champion that led to Roman range versus Dean Ambrose in tournament final. 116 00:14:32,000 --> 00:14:50,000 That survivor series then there was the knee injury before triple H versus Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 33 then there was the knee injury last year during WrestleMania season that we found out afterwards like he was resting on torn Maniscus and now there is a 117 00:14:50,000 --> 00:15:05,000 another knee injury Seth Rollins is not getting any younger and now he's got four serious knee injuries within 10 years span and he is 39 years old I just turned 39 so I know how this feels. 118 00:15:05,000 --> 00:15:16,000 This this is in great Dr. Trey and this is one of the best out there for knee injuries in 10 years I think we could say he's injury prone. 119 00:15:16,000 --> 00:15:28,000 It's a weird line when you talk about injury prongers to me injury prong like we've had guys that literally would I hate saying Daniel Bryan but for a while I Brian would come off the injury list wrestle four matches get ready. 120 00:15:28,000 --> 00:15:39,000 I mean at least Seth are broken up by years in between injuries so it just kind of depends on definitely injury prong I do think he's an injury risk. 121 00:15:39,000 --> 00:16:00,000 Excuse me and that might be where it is I think the one issue Seth has had is I don't think Seth has ever changed his style of wrestling and that's what a lot of guys tell you is like hey as your injuries mount up you may have to change your style of wrestling and doing that flip to where you land on your feet that is 122 00:16:00,000 --> 00:16:23,000 literally the move that we see people get injured on more than anything else is that kind of a pop up thing where it's like there's the back flip or the hip toss they land on their feet or they jump off the top row you know do the flip land on their feet boom then their knee goes out so I think Seth needs to adjust his style much like Randy Orton has done over the past 10 years 123 00:16:23,000 --> 00:16:50,000 because he had the same knock on him that he was injury prone for a long while before he had the big neck injury and we've seen Randy change his style up as well so I think he's a risk maybe not prone he's kind of like the Christian McAfry of wrestling like you know he's super talented but you're always worried that just on one day he could blow out his knee again to be out for a year but when he's good he's the best there is that what he does. 124 00:16:50,000 --> 00:17:03,000 The biggest thing to outside this is the selfish side of the trade that I felt like the storyline was just getting good I am obviously upset as a wrestling fan for him being injured not him it's Seth wrong's on television is not a good time. 125 00:17:03,000 --> 00:17:19,000 And then the storyline thing here his group was starting to really take off felt like it was going to be leading towards what we saw on Monday's raw where probably brought break was in the Seth Rollspot we would have Seth versus versus Roman at at Summerslam. 126 00:17:19,000 --> 00:17:32,000 We're not going to get any all that get any of that at all now he said on the rich eyes and show he is has WrestleMania in the back of his mind if this is legit and it's not a work again that's what I think it is. 127 00:17:32,000 --> 00:17:40,000 This is that part really sucks because now that was going to really help elevate Bronson Reed and Braun Breaker my opinion as well. 128 00:17:40,000 --> 00:18:02,000 Yeah I still think it's more work than legit I don't know if we'll see him in a ring like actually wrestling a full match of Summerslam but given the results from Goother Goldberg and then what happened on Monday night I fully expect to see see a punk get involved in that match at Summerslam if that's the route they go. 129 00:18:02,000 --> 00:18:13,000 You think punk gets involved in what match now got there and see a punk I don't think he like we've sorry like you think you think Roman gets involved in that match. 130 00:18:13,000 --> 00:18:18,000 I'm sorry Rollins I meant Rollins okay yeah you said see a punk gets involved in the match. 131 00:18:18,000 --> 00:18:19,000 Yeah what? 132 00:18:19,000 --> 00:18:24,000 No I got my tongue in our fears in punk versus Gunther stay tuned. 133 00:18:24,000 --> 00:18:28,000 Undertaker versus Undertaker eat your heart out. 134 00:18:28,000 --> 00:18:47,000 But no I fully expect see Seth get involved in that punk Gunther match because although he's got money to bank his other focus is he doesn't want punk winning a championship which is why he got involved with punk and John Cena that was the story like he just doesn't want punk getting the world title back or in the world title before he does. 135 00:18:47,000 --> 00:18:50,000 So I expect him to get involved in that match with him in Gunther. 136 00:18:50,000 --> 00:19:06,000 Yeah I mean if this is a work in Rollins this turns out to be a work like it'll be great again I think the creative that is going on in WWE right now is good is really good and I like that they're losing the predictability about it. 137 00:19:06,000 --> 00:19:28,000 And I think in the past I would probably complain like I don't think they should be using injuries is a way to do this but why not right now I mean this is we have plenty of stuff out there where there are some shocking twists and turns in our favorite television show so why not do it in WWE's context as well so I guess summer slam is probably the like the test right Dr. 138 00:19:28,000 --> 00:19:36,000 Try if if Rollins interferes somehow great this was all a work but if we get out of summer slam it's like oh shit it was legit. 139 00:19:36,000 --> 00:19:57,000 Yeah that's that's kind of where I'm at with it because like if it's a torn ACL if you towards ACL again we won't see him a summer slam but if he hyper extended his knee or something like that where he can still like I said I don't think we see him wrestle at summer slam but I can see him getting involved I can see him cashing in like both guys are down he cashes in there's a stunt. 140 00:19:57,000 --> 00:20:10,000 One two three I think he could pull that off and then back buys him time to heal up and still come out summer slam is champion because they blew up my Saturday nights main event idea so screw them. 141 00:20:10,000 --> 00:20:26,000 And then let's talk about Goldberg I thought he got a proper send off on Saturday night I watched it I popped for Doug Dillinger I thought that was awesome he got a decent match he got a decent amount of offense in with one of the best wrestlers in professional wrestling today a world champion 142 00:20:26,000 --> 00:20:40,000 was the build the greatest no should it have been a PLA bigger stadium whatever that's I don't know I felt like they make these Saturday night main event shows look like a PLA I thought he got a proper send off and then he got on the show with aerial 143 00:20:40,000 --> 00:20:53,000 whole on the on Tuesday and just basically trash the entire thing which left a bad taste of my mouth doctor tragus from Saturday nights main event first did you feel like had he not say anything on air 144 00:20:53,000 --> 00:21:21,000 show had you would you have felt like he got a proper send off or did you feel like I thought as a wrestler he got a proper send off I was a little bummed out that they kind of cut part of his speech out at the end I don't think they cut it out though no no I don't and I and I mean they in the sense of I don't know if it was NBC or W it was NBC 100% NBC so like they have a hard out I understand it you know 145 00:21:21,000 --> 00:21:44,000 so I was a little irritated that but I thought from a match perspective of what we thought we were going to get in the performance we actually got I thought it was a proper send off he looked pretty strong against gun through the match no selling those shops I don't know if Gunther you know and recipe call brother it up a little bit where it sounds good but it doesn't hurt that much 146 00:21:44,000 --> 00:22:13,000 those look like legitimate Gunther chops he knows so the first couple of them he got his son was involved in match which something you and I talked about with the whole and I you know next in line thing they have with WWE is kind of opening that door I thought is a very proper send off I will say the one thing that I didn't like that is the nitpick is we only got the one arm drop on the finish not the three that we saw a month earlier I know we can just I immediately thought of you as usually our window one time 147 00:22:13,000 --> 00:22:42,940 right for the bell like what the hell Jeff and I just talked about this a couple weeks ago but other than that I thought it was for what we had seen Goldberg do is probably his previous two or three matches it was a much better performance that thought we were going to get Goldberg actually said in that interview with Aaron Hollani he apologized to Gunther backstage for the chops like he shouldn't have done that he owned up on that which I think is the right thing you he should not have done that he should have you're on your way out you take the 148 00:22:42,940 --> 00:22:54,800 pin you take the choke out you help put Gunther over as well and your career I think you sell those chops I see I was okay with I was okay with the first couple because like the 149 00:22:54,800 --> 00:23:02,640 adren- like the adrenaline's pumping he know like he's going all in and that was the Goldberg character of all like Goldberg res me 150 00:23:02,640 --> 00:23:16,200 Russell Flair Goldberg with no cell Flair's first yeah yeah yeah but you can't say you can't go in there and say he's 58 58 58 and all of a sudden he's 28 so I'm saying like but in the first couple 151 00:23:16,200 --> 00:23:27,040 minutes of the match you can you you can kind of go man he's jacked up on adrenaline he's not feeling anything but by the end he was selling the chops so I didn't mind the first two no 152 00:23:27,040 --> 00:23:32,920 cells but by the end yes I can get behind that if they were going to have multiple matches I just think on the 153 00:23:32,920 --> 00:23:39,360 retirement match like that's that's just not something he was he should have done and he ended up apologizing for it so we 154 00:23:39,360 --> 00:23:46,000 kind of differ on that one the complaint two days later doctor I mean I was so disappointed here that from him I was 155 00:23:46,000 --> 00:23:55,080 like man this guy you can't make this guy happy I mean they could have called called the show Goldberg and he'd be upset I mean I don't 156 00:23:55,080 --> 00:24:02,440 know if I'm doubting you I'm like well I'm rolling my eyes because they they didn't have to I mean it was on national television 157 00:24:02,440 --> 00:24:08,860 you're getting the world champion one of the best in the ring today and you went nearly 15 minutes I would 158 00:24:08,860 --> 00:24:16,680 prefer a 15 minute Goldberg match and a speech that was going to be cut off that I could watch on in on full on 159 00:24:16,680 --> 00:24:23,720 YouTube later that night next day rather than a five minute match and then a 15 minute you know retirement 160 00:24:23,720 --> 00:24:31,440 speech from from Bill Vogue I I was really disappointed here I'm complaining about that I think it completely dampened his 161 00:24:31,440 --> 00:24:38,840 retirement match I think that's what at least for now I will remember it kind of goes back to like oh yeah this is why 162 00:24:38,840 --> 00:24:49,680 let that this is why he's so polarized it's shit like this like dude you got your match in you got first of all look I get that 163 00:24:49,680 --> 00:24:56,420 you want to give a heartfelt speech but half the audience was tuning out as is the matches over they weren't 164 00:24:56,420 --> 00:25:02,960 hanging around for the speech anyway I'm not trying to be rude but that's just reality of the situation if WWE if 165 00:25:02,960 --> 00:25:10,800 and I'm sure WWE took the whole speech and put it out on their website as well like dude you got what you want it just be happy with that 166 00:25:10,800 --> 00:25:19,160 so I don't I don't get him being upset I'm just kind of going with his kind of the e to the moment and he was kind of upset 167 00:25:19,160 --> 00:25:27,480 with how it all kind of played out so and then let's get to AW all in Texas or thoughts on there so hangman winning was 168 00:25:27,480 --> 00:25:32,420 absolutely the right call we talked about last week's show could you imagine if they went and had him retain 169 00:25:32,420 --> 00:25:38,000 moxley retain I'd be like there would be a riot in Texas because with all the momentum it's like you can't kill it 170 00:25:38,000 --> 00:25:46,440 MJF is back in the World Tiled picture AW's returning to what works with MJF and hangman at the top Adam Coles in ring future is in 171 00:25:46,440 --> 00:25:52,560 doubt there's reports out there that he was actually going to announce that he was retiring during the show and they talked 172 00:25:52,560 --> 00:25:58,800 about it we talked about it earlier on Dustin road shocks the world becoming TNT world champion in the fatal for away 173 00:25:58,800 --> 00:26:06,680 Athena wins the casino got in the Tony storm retains with Mercedes Tony Athena at the top that is three people that 174 00:26:06,680 --> 00:26:12,440 could absolutely carry the AW women's division and then Copeland and Christian reunion is on the horizon would appear 175 00:26:12,440 --> 00:26:18,160 those are some of my takeaways and thoughts from AW all in Dr. Trey what what's it out to you 176 00:26:18,160 --> 00:26:26,000 yeah those were the those were the key points for me I I will say this as somebody who is knocked AEW quite a bit or 177 00:26:26,000 --> 00:26:32,840 last year this was one of the most entertaining shows I've seen all year from even though it was long man it was a damn good 178 00:26:32,840 --> 00:26:41,000 show like I really enjoyed this show which I haven't said a whole bunch but if this is their WrestleMania in a lot of ways they 179 00:26:41,000 --> 00:26:48,760 really delivered on it I mean that that main event match with with hangman and moxley I mean it was a little bit of 180 00:26:48,760 --> 00:26:56,000 Avengers in game type of a thing like everybody in their mom was getting involved in it but hey it worked for Roman and Cody a 181 00:26:56,000 --> 00:27:04,240 year ago so I can't really criticize it maybe a little too bloody for my liking but it's a Texas death match it's kind of 182 00:27:04,240 --> 00:27:10,840 what you get I thought you know Mercedes Monet who I have knocked on the show for probably a decade I thought 183 00:27:10,840 --> 00:27:21,200 had a really good match with Tony Storm Athena goddamn I love that woman she is so she for being so small she's tough as hell and so like 184 00:27:21,200 --> 00:27:29,560 just put together MJF coming out on top was the right call for that as well like the stuff with you know FTR 185 00:27:29,560 --> 00:27:36,720 you know Christian the hurts in the kit Adam Copeland all that stuff like storyline wise ties in together just 186 00:27:36,720 --> 00:27:44,320 from top to bottom I really really enjoyed the show like I there wasn't anything on this show that I was like well that 187 00:27:44,320 --> 00:27:51,640 was dumb that was AW there was a well written well put together professional wrestling show that took my life 188 00:27:51,640 --> 00:27:58,280 energy out of me for being seven hours long yeah it's it's it was rather long we've I think we beat that to 189 00:27:58,280 --> 00:28:03,600 death but that is something you cannot forget about it I thought it was a very strong show we talked about it 190 00:28:03,600 --> 00:28:09,120 again on last week's podcast it is definitely feeling like AW swagger's back I like coming out of AW all in 191 00:28:09,120 --> 00:28:14,040 there's definitely some buzz and excitement and I really hope they could ride this wave of momentum they're going 192 00:28:14,040 --> 00:28:20,360 back to the things creatively that works for them as a company hangman Adam page in this position the 193 00:28:20,360 --> 00:28:26,760 everyday blue collar worker you know baby face he he I think somebody said recently I don't know if it was bully 194 00:28:26,760 --> 00:28:32,240 right or somebody said that like I think it was actually Nick and Matt Jackson interview I read that you could 195 00:28:32,240 --> 00:28:38,480 put hangman page in the eighties nineties two thousands two thousand tens and today's and he'd be a top baby face and that is 196 00:28:38,480 --> 00:28:45,960 absolutely so true he resonates very well on the screen mjf as a top heel in the world title mix few new 197 00:28:45,960 --> 00:28:51,360 with a hangman type stuff is is the direction you want to go like these are guys that need to be at the top of 198 00:28:51,360 --> 00:28:57,480 the card the young bucks being involved in a top storyline you know with the stuff with osprey and swerve that is 199 00:28:57,480 --> 00:29:05,160 things that need to be involved as well they're pushing all the right buttons right now and they cannot fall back into 200 00:29:05,160 --> 00:29:10,560 what happened last year where they got into this like fall swoon and you just saw the company like really 201 00:29:10,560 --> 00:29:18,080 tank lost a ton of interest in them and they really struggled up until double or nothing where they had 202 00:29:18,080 --> 00:29:24,960 some really good momentum upward swing building there they've been on a good path and they're pushing all the 203 00:29:24,960 --> 00:29:32,000 right buttons still trepidatious about a doctor trade but I just feel like they are doing all the right things 204 00:29:32,000 --> 00:29:37,760 that are speaking to the fans and the fans enjoy it and they're they're receiving the product very well right now. 205 00:29:37,760 --> 00:29:47,760 Yeah I love like what they said about hangman page hangman page reminds me of what magnum t.a. would be today like look demeanor 206 00:29:47,760 --> 00:29:52,800 the way he works like if magnum came up in this era that's what hangman page would be. 207 00:29:54,320 --> 00:30:00,200 But you're right like what they're doing is going hey who are the people that our audience really loves to watch who are 208 00:30:00,200 --> 00:30:06,440 the people that we get the most feedback from who are the people that the crowds buying the merchandise from and that's 209 00:30:06,440 --> 00:30:14,240 who we should focus on and I thought you saw that play out on this show like Athena is one of the most maybe underrated 210 00:30:14,240 --> 00:30:19,520 female wrestlers in the company we hear about everybody else but she's been a ring of honor world you know world 211 00:30:19,520 --> 00:30:26,560 champion for over a year hey let's get her featured more in the mix people seem to respond to her swerve and 212 00:30:26,560 --> 00:30:33,640 osprey hey and then we can also like I mess around with the young bucks on dynamite because they've lost their 213 00:30:33,640 --> 00:30:41,120 stroke it can be fun in the crowd will eat that up you know Oka and Omega like the crowd loves these guys but hey they 214 00:30:41,120 --> 00:30:48,560 love Oka they love swerve let's put them together like they focus on the people of strength and not the people that 215 00:30:49,440 --> 00:30:56,160 maybe they feel like internally they have to push or they have a the heart syndicate has some of the best selling merchandise w and 216 00:30:56,160 --> 00:31:04,560 arguably one of the best theme songs in a w and they're the ones going over in that match not the young kids or you know the 217 00:31:04,560 --> 00:31:12,640 X w w guy and his young protege it's the the team that the crowd seems to respond to so I thought it was very very smart 218 00:31:12,640 --> 00:31:20,520 looking especially on your biggest show because it's going to leave people happy at the end and then wanting to zoom into the next show to see how the 219 00:31:20,520 --> 00:31:30,400 fallout plays out we talked about all the good the obvious the bad thing here dr. Tray the the cloud over the show partially was obviously Adam 220 00:31:30,400 --> 00:31:36,480 cold he's a guy that we named one of our wrestlers of the year out of everybody I think it was like 2019 221 00:31:39,120 --> 00:31:48,960 if you told me back in 2022 when he came over the company that he would not be an eight w roll champion in to buy 2025 I would not believe you 222 00:31:48,960 --> 00:31:56,400 the amount of injuries and bad luck that he's had is awful you know he said in the speech that he is sick later comes out a 223 00:31:56,400 --> 00:32:04,240 couple days later that the reporting another concussion and it's one where they're like he's legitimately considering 224 00:32:04,240 --> 00:32:14,240 uh... in-ring retirement permanently the selfish side of us res resting fans is we hope it's on his last match we hope that we have not seen the last match of Adam 225 00:32:14,240 --> 00:32:22,080 cold the reality of the situation the human aside of the situation is we all just want to be healthy we all want him to enjoy the rest of 226 00:32:22,080 --> 00:32:29,680 his life and if this is the decision he needs to make so be it it'll be very a very tough pill the swallow 227 00:32:29,680 --> 00:32:46,720 um... but that was just such a bummer man i was so sad for Adam cold who is genuinely referred to as one of the nicest guys in professional wrestling one of the best in-ring workers characters i've enjoyed watching over the last 15 years doing this podcast 228 00:32:46,720 --> 00:32:51,520 i was so bummed out to hear and see that take place this past Saturday afternoon 229 00:32:51,520 --> 00:32:59,600 yeah because in a lot of ways you know for this current generation he was the closest thing to what Shawn Michaels was for us in a lot of time before Shawn got to 230 00:32:59,600 --> 00:33:10,720 super short low but that undersize just fantastic wrestler great charisma you know great talk all the you know the knock on him is always a size and it's kind of this it's 231 00:33:10,720 --> 00:33:22,800 you know way it can't really similar to what happened to Brian Danielson was in wwe like he was just so undersized that sometimes the amount of abuse he was taking was catching up to him and 232 00:33:22,800 --> 00:33:33,200 and they're kind of some of the like it's the concussion thing that's you know pushing this and you know for Daniel brought or brought to him i said he had to you know completely alter his style 233 00:33:33,200 --> 00:33:39,200 to compensate for that i don't know if Adam calls ever really fully done that and it sucks because 234 00:33:39,200 --> 00:33:43,680 you know you go back to 2022 if you had told me that by 2025 235 00:33:43,680 --> 00:33:52,720 Adam Cole and Keith Lee would not be active wrestlers on the a w roster i would have told you you're out of your mind like those two guys should have been world champions but because of injuries and everything else 236 00:33:52,720 --> 00:34:05,200 it's slowed down both those guys in a lot of ways and it's it's heartbreaking for for fans of Adam Cole like you guys like you and me that love watching this guy wrestle and enjoy everything he does 237 00:34:05,200 --> 00:34:22,480 what's baby face or heal that you know he's in that position now i hope it's not his last match but i also feel like he's one of those guys that you would keep around on your roster in some way shape or form because he 238 00:34:22,480 --> 00:34:42,720 helps elevate everybody else around him whether he's in the ring out of the ring or just being like a locker room presence that you know keeps that joy around you he just loves wrestling and he loves the people involved with it so i hope it's not his last match but i hope a w figures out a way to keep him on board 239 00:34:42,720 --> 00:34:51,360 even during his downtime because he can be an asset to any company in that role and then lastly it's good to w we have a luscious that wrapped up the weekend 240 00:34:51,360 --> 00:34:58,560 uh... some of my notes from this one was becky baili lira match up to elevate lira in a big way uh top to bottom i thought it was one of the best 241 00:34:58,560 --> 00:35:06,560 ple w ple's of the year uh possibly like second only to wrestle many if you removed wrestle many from it i think this was my favorite ple 242 00:35:06,560 --> 00:35:14,160 that they have had this year eo versus ria was turning into a classic Naomi's cash in didn't overshadow that match 243 00:35:14,160 --> 00:35:19,280 which is really really good because sometimes when a cash in happened like no no not right now this match is awesome 244 00:35:19,280 --> 00:35:25,920 but it was fine and the crowd reaction state positive um i do have a strategic reason why Naomi may have 245 00:35:25,920 --> 00:35:30,400 moved over to raw that i'll talk about in just a second but let's just isolate it here to evolution dr. 246 00:35:30,400 --> 00:35:35,840 tre your thoughts i thought this was one of the best non-recent mary adewy ple's this year 247 00:35:35,840 --> 00:35:45,920 yeah it i i love the show it from top to bottom fantastic show pushed all the right buttons i mean 248 00:35:45,920 --> 00:35:50,640 we get stefny vccore winning the battle royals was stefny's getting a title shot which i think everybody's 249 00:35:50,640 --> 00:35:56,000 happy with she's arguably the hottest you know attraction and wrestling or in especially women's 250 00:35:56,000 --> 00:36:02,240 wrestling right now um i thought jayden Naomi i thought their match was good and i don't think you 251 00:36:02,240 --> 00:36:08,480 you could have got me to say it would it would have been before the show eo and ria was a match of 252 00:36:08,480 --> 00:36:14,720 the year candidate until the cash in and still might end up in that discussion because it was just 253 00:36:14,720 --> 00:36:19,920 really really well done uh tritian tiffney was actually pretty good which i didn't have high 254 00:36:19,920 --> 00:36:26,560 expectations for that match but overall yeah from top to bottom maybe right behind wrestle made in 255 00:36:26,560 --> 00:36:32,080 the mission chamber but not far off from those two shows yeah it was a really really fun show uh 256 00:36:32,080 --> 00:36:39,440 then they Naomi thing here i i feel like this move to raw was strategic i think everybody's like oh 257 00:36:39,440 --> 00:36:44,560 this is really cool this is creative is is you know they're doing something that we did not 258 00:36:44,560 --> 00:36:53,920 expect um and they went in a completely different direction um i feel like this was strategic because 259 00:36:53,920 --> 00:36:59,200 i think they wanted avoid but fan backlash if jade cargo wins the title at summer slam and 260 00:36:59,200 --> 00:37:06,640 Naomi doesn't cash in i think everybody obviously 99 out of a hundred wrestling fans dare i say 99 261 00:37:06,640 --> 00:37:14,960 and a half out of 100 wrestling fans were thinking that um it was going to be you know with jade and 262 00:37:14,960 --> 00:37:19,840 tiffney at rest at summer slam that there was a possibility for Naomi cash and i had the visions in 263 00:37:19,840 --> 00:37:24,880 my head triple threat for the rest of the year with bianca jade and Naomi the salt stuff that we saw 264 00:37:24,880 --> 00:37:29,520 on saturday night's main event with bianca coming back being the referee i felt like that was the 265 00:37:29,520 --> 00:37:34,160 direction would go and i would be totally fine with it and love it i think that they were nervous 266 00:37:34,160 --> 00:37:38,720 that if they went to summer slam jade wins the title which i suspect right now as we sit in 267 00:37:38,720 --> 00:37:44,160 record this podcast that will happen that everybody will be literally cheering for Naomi to come and 268 00:37:44,160 --> 00:37:49,360 cash in and what she doesn't there'll be that swath of social media disappointment that's what i 269 00:37:49,360 --> 00:37:53,680 feel like dr. trea i think yeah you can sit there and say that's awesome they went in a completely 270 00:37:53,680 --> 00:37:58,400 different direction and we didn't realize props a creative but i felt i felt like there was more to 271 00:37:58,400 --> 00:38:05,600 this your thoughts on my conspiracy theories i still think there's more to it i think this was a 272 00:38:05,600 --> 00:38:13,840 way of transitioning Naomi away from jade to then set up jade and bianca and if if if Naomi still around 273 00:38:13,840 --> 00:38:19,280 then yeah it's going to be triple threat season for all three of them this was a way of let's move 274 00:38:19,280 --> 00:38:26,160 Naomi over to raw let her be a heal because really with lives injury there's no real becky's the only 275 00:38:26,160 --> 00:38:33,200 real feeling like heal on raw that's credible and if you're not ready to do becky i mean if becky's 276 00:38:33,200 --> 00:38:40,000 helping elevate lira we needed another heal on raw that could be that just person everybody wants 277 00:38:40,000 --> 00:38:46,800 dislike so i thought it was a smart move to make that transition move her over and then you can 278 00:38:46,800 --> 00:38:54,400 still set up jade tiffinny and then maybe bianca turns on jade in that match tiffinny retains and then 279 00:38:54,400 --> 00:38:59,360 you can still have bianca and jade that you're match heading into russian maybe this season yeah it's 280 00:38:59,360 --> 00:39:06,400 it's i don't know she says she's done with them maybe that's the right thing to do storyline wise 281 00:39:06,400 --> 00:39:12,720 just think a little conspiracy theory is overall but nonetheless very very enjoyable weekend for 282 00:39:12,720 --> 00:39:21,280 refreshing russian dr. tray and let's get to it uh which show won the weekend to you what show stood out 283 00:39:23,280 --> 00:39:28,080 this is tough because i and and honestly if you'd ask me before the weekend i didn't think it'd be this 284 00:39:28,080 --> 00:39:38,320 tough um i'm gonna go all in just because for that as long as it was it kept me entertained for that 285 00:39:38,320 --> 00:39:44,160 entire show like yeah did i have to break it up into into bite size chunks of times yes 286 00:39:44,160 --> 00:39:50,320 but from top to bottom for that long of a show to really have no filler matches 287 00:39:51,200 --> 00:39:57,840 and also because i just had low expectations for it going in i'm gonna like i guess i go to a w because 288 00:39:57,840 --> 00:40:03,760 like it's close i mean evolution a w all into me are one a one b but i'm just gonna give the edge to 289 00:40:03,760 --> 00:40:11,120 a w because i didn't expect much from it and it over delivered from it so your pick is 290 00:40:11,120 --> 00:40:20,080 all in hmm yeah i know it's crazy i think i think i'm gonna go with evolution 291 00:40:20,640 --> 00:40:26,080 i thought that i first thought for this is like very tough because i think all in an evolution 292 00:40:26,080 --> 00:40:32,240 were some of the best non-resimony shows i've seen this year um yeah absolutely i think i'm gonna go with 293 00:40:32,240 --> 00:40:39,280 evolution because i think it was such a good show i i felt like the women really were like 294 00:40:39,280 --> 00:40:45,200 fuck you to everybody else i really felt like that was the point they were trying to get across i thought 295 00:40:45,200 --> 00:40:51,760 every match was really good and i thought everybody delivered i it's a very very tough call probably if 296 00:40:51,760 --> 00:40:57,600 all in texas was half the time of what it was and you just have a lot of the good matches that were 297 00:40:57,600 --> 00:41:03,600 in there and cut out all the other fluff um i would go in that direction but i felt like evolution was 298 00:41:03,600 --> 00:41:08,400 was one of the best shows i've seen this year not to try like i said for me like if i was ready it'd be 299 00:41:08,400 --> 00:41:17,520 like a 4.23 and a 4.21 like it was that close for me like i i enjoyed both shows immensely yeah no they 300 00:41:17,520 --> 00:41:22,960 were really good yeah and and the crazy thing is one of the credits i gave eight of you is i just 301 00:41:22,960 --> 00:41:27,360 risk everything why i give evolution there wasn't a ton of build for everything on that show 302 00:41:27,360 --> 00:41:33,600 like and you had baby face baby face in your main event so my expectations revolution 303 00:41:33,600 --> 00:41:39,360 were the high ball shows over delivered i think for me it just came down to like i have knocked a w really 304 00:41:39,360 --> 00:41:45,440 hard for three years and this was one of the best shows i have seen them do in three years so i just 305 00:41:45,440 --> 00:41:50,960 i give them almost like a little bit of like credit like it's like extra credit for being so bad for 306 00:41:50,960 --> 00:41:59,520 three years that that show is really effing good yeah it uh it was a and i just want to say this 307 00:41:59,520 --> 00:42:04,080 too because i think we're narrowing it down all in texas and evolution i thought the entire weekend 308 00:42:04,080 --> 00:42:08,800 and professional wrestling was like phenomenal i thought again great american bash was like a very very 309 00:42:08,800 --> 00:42:16,400 good NXT show saturday night's main event i thought was really good if the Seth Ralland's injury 310 00:42:16,400 --> 00:42:22,400 doesn't happen and now goberg bitching i thought saturday night's main event was a really good like 311 00:42:22,400 --> 00:42:29,440 wwe special was a pli worthy no but i was not disappointed or bored with anything that i saw 312 00:42:30,080 --> 00:42:36,320 over the weekend and and overall dot stray i thought every show i watch even counting smacked down 313 00:42:36,320 --> 00:42:41,600 and raw if you want to do the friday monday thing i thought everything delivered weekend all weekend 314 00:42:41,600 --> 00:42:46,720 long from everything that we saw professional wrestling yeah i think as we record this show now 315 00:42:46,720 --> 00:42:52,480 from friday until now we haven't had a bad we haven't had a bad episode of wrestling the entire time 316 00:42:52,480 --> 00:42:58,080 i mean if you if you even even like to me saturday's main event was probably the worst of the four shows 317 00:42:58,080 --> 00:43:03,840 over the weekend and it was still probably like a three point eight yeah you know it's like there's 318 00:43:03,840 --> 00:43:10,160 like a three point eight of four a four two and a four two like that's in my head and then raw was good 319 00:43:10,160 --> 00:43:16,240 and you know dynamite was good like there hasn't been a bad episode of wrestling since you know from 320 00:43:16,240 --> 00:43:21,840 friday until as we record the show now just been an outstanding week of wrestling yeah there's a 321 00:43:21,840 --> 00:43:27,680 couple of clouds that we don't like but dear god like to have that much wrestling over a seven day 322 00:43:27,680 --> 00:43:34,960 window and not be disappointed the entire weekend is an incredible job by both companies yeah awesome it 323 00:43:34,960 --> 00:43:39,520 was an awesome awesome weekend but next time guys just say for like the winner when i came in out of my 324 00:43:39,520 --> 00:43:45,440 house please i got by the way jeff i don't know if i said i got lucky my family was gone for the weekend 325 00:43:45,440 --> 00:43:51,040 yeah i'm gonna be saying this so i got i got the entire like something i'm literally like it's me the 326 00:43:51,040 --> 00:43:56,400 new puppy the cat we're sitting now watching wrestling that i go get some food billy douse i was 327 00:43:56,400 --> 00:44:00,560 sunday night i got sick and so that's why i had to catch up on some of the wrestling on monday and 328 00:44:00,560 --> 00:44:05,600 Tuesday but man's like you're god like yeah if if i had been on lockdown with the family the entire 329 00:44:05,600 --> 00:44:10,960 weekend yeah they would have somehow beaten me with a stick at some point to get me out of house 330 00:44:10,960 --> 00:44:16,240 yeah yeah no hundred percent hundred percent so there you go everything that took place in the world 331 00:44:16,240 --> 00:44:21,280 of professional wrestling let's get a couple
