- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi friends, Meghan and Wendy. Here and in honor of
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hallmark airing The Chicken Sisters on Hallmark Channel, we are
- 0:06Speaker 1: re airing our original reviews and recaps of these episodes
- 0:11Speaker 1: that were originally recorded back in September and October of
- 0:15Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. So enjoy the Chicken Sisters and enjoy
- 0:19Speaker 1: these recaps and reviews.
- 0:23Speaker 2: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Well, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Homewark review podcast.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I'm Windy.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today we're discussing Chicken Sisters
- 0:53Speaker 1: Episode seven.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It's just junk y'all.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Alternate title I fall to pieces if you're keeping up
- 0:59Speaker 1: with the two title phenomenon happening, and I'm going to
- 1:03Speaker 1: tell you I kind of like the song title series
- 1:08Speaker 1: that happens on the IMDb titles of these episodes. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: can't help but wonder did they just decide that's the
- 1:15Speaker 1: way we do our titles for the Way Home and
- 1:17Speaker 1: we can't repeat that.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I don't know either. Nevertheless, The Chicken Sisters does stream
- 1:25Speaker 1: exclusively on the Hallmark Plus platform. You can find us
- 1:29Speaker 1: in lots of places, not just exclusively in one. We
- 1:32Speaker 1: love to have you follow us on Instagram. We have
- 1:35Speaker 1: not one, but two Instagram accounts. They are get Ready
- 1:39Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark and Megan and Wendy. Hey, jump into
- 1:45Speaker 1: our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. It's private, and it's
- 1:50Speaker 1: filled with amazing people who really know their stuff about Hallmark.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Maybe so, like if you ever had like just a
- 1:58Speaker 1: random question, there are a lot of people there who
- 2:02Speaker 1: will know the answer, the Hallmark knowledge. There's a deep
- 2:05Speaker 1: bench over there. Yeah, for sure. Hey, we love your emails.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You can email us Girls go on Hallmark at gmail
- 2:12Speaker 1: dot com. And we'd like to discuss a little more
- 2:15Speaker 1: feedback we've received since our last episode before we hop
- 2:18Speaker 1: into our thoughts on this one. I had posed the
- 2:20Speaker 1: question on the last episode, do we think Frank Junior
- 2:23Speaker 1: is abusive? And we both had said maybe not. I mean,
- 2:27Speaker 1: he's there's no it does a being I said maybe not.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I said, you said emotionally abusive.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, verbally abusive.
- 2:35Speaker 1: There's obviously no evidence of being him being physically abusive.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I was on the fence, but we got some feedback
- 2:41Speaker 1: that suggests otherwise, and wanted to share that perspective.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 4: The first one comes from a listener who wants to
- 2:49Speaker 4: remain anonymous, and they write, Yes, Frank Junior is verbally
- 2:55Speaker 4: and emotionally abusive, Amanda is stuck in an abusive relationship,
- 2:59Speaker 4: and you can't always leave those kinds of relationships. And
- 3:02Speaker 4: the scenes with Frank Junior listening to the radio in
- 3:05Speaker 4: his car are signs of underlying anger issues that could
- 3:08Speaker 4: quickly lead to physical abuse. And then goes on to say, sorry,
- 3:13Speaker 4: struck a nerve and had to get that out.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I appreciate that perspective. I agree the scenes with
- 3:20Speaker 1: him in the car are very troubling. Yeah, the way
- 3:25Speaker 1: he reacts to this particular podcast, he is like seeking
- 3:31Speaker 1: what it seems to me is like he's seeking power
- 3:34Speaker 1: from where he doesn't feel like he has it in
- 3:37Speaker 1: his home, and so he's sourcing his power from this
- 3:42Speaker 1: hard podcast. It's so gross to me. So I do
- 3:46Speaker 1: appreciate that perspective. Frank Junior does not get any better
- 3:49Speaker 1: in this episode. But before we talk details, let's here
- 3:52Speaker 1: are synopsis.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Sure, despite their differences, the town rallies around Gus, Amanda
- 3:58Speaker 4: and May in a time of need. Meanwhile, Sabrina starts
- 4:01Speaker 4: to doubt her tactics on kitchen clash.
- 4:08Speaker 1: A few news and notes about this episode. Episode seven
- 4:10Speaker 1: was written by Aaron Gibson. Aaron is a comedian, writer, podcaster,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and director known for her works on projects like Gay
- 4:17Speaker 1: of Thrones, for Funnier Die, and Tiny Toons University. She
- 4:21Speaker 1: also co hosts a political comedy podcast called Attitudes that
- 4:25Speaker 1: covers pop culture, women's rights, and LGBTQ plus issues.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Monica Mitchell directed this episode. She has thirty previous directing credits,
- 4:33Speaker 4: including Virgin River, Firefly Lane, a couple of Hallmark movies,
- 4:37Speaker 4: and two episodes of Date My Dad, Heyo.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Angela Cistio is the credited music supervisor for this episode.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Shout out for using the song March of the Swivelheads,
- 4:48Speaker 1: which was famously used in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and
- 4:52Speaker 1: so perfectly used in this episode.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Didn't you think so? I loved it in that movie
- 4:58Speaker 2: a lot, of course.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yes. As soon as I heard it, I was like,
- 5:02Speaker 1: oh my god, and oh my god, she's running the
- 5:04Speaker 1: same way like Ferris Dealers.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yes, I loved it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: The gen X audience was like, Brain's exploding, totally, totally.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Drew Henderson plays Sheriff Lawrence. He has eighteen acting credits,
- 5:17Speaker 4: but is no stranger to Hallmark, having appeared in an
- 5:20Speaker 4: Easter Bloom Wedding season and The Wedding Cottage. Before you
- 5:24Speaker 4: run down the key events of this episode, we're going
- 5:26Speaker 4: to take a quick break for an ad and we'll
- 5:28Speaker 4: be right back. This episode, unlike many past episodes, largely
- 5:40Speaker 4: has one key plot point with a few little satellites
- 5:43Speaker 4: orbiting around it, and that is dealing with Gus's home.
- 5:48Speaker 4: We're dealing obviously with the aftermath here of Frank Junior
- 5:51Speaker 4: calling the health department.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah. And I liked the parallel opening here where Frank
- 6:02Speaker 1: Junior is I use liked loosely in terms of the
- 6:08Speaker 1: directing of it. I like Frank Junior being passed out
- 6:10Speaker 1: in the phone booth. We check in on where everyone
- 6:13Speaker 1: is sleeping. It's kind of like the parade of the
- 6:16Speaker 1: flowered pillowcases. Like we see Nancy and we see guys
- 6:20Speaker 1: who has a quite serene sleeping situation inspite the chaos
- 6:23Speaker 1: of the rest.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Of her home.
- 6:25Speaker 1: May and Jay sleeping in different beds. I like this
- 6:27Speaker 1: way of checking in on them. But then my notes
- 6:30Speaker 1: say in all caps, WTF, Amanda, I have no words.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I can't.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm like beating a dead horse like I And I
- 6:39Speaker 1: know that there's listeners out there who disagree with me,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but her choices are all wrong. Here are we to
- 6:45Speaker 1: believe that they slept together or just like, oh, they
- 6:47Speaker 1: fell asleep in the bed of the truck.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Make it out.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I don't know. Did it lean one way or the
- 6:53Speaker 4: other for you?
- 6:55Speaker 1: I I mean, she's fully clothed. So I didn't feel
- 6:59Speaker 1: like we were to infer that they had slept together,
- 7:02Speaker 1: more that they just like had a moment and fell asleep.
- 7:05Speaker 1: But they did move from the cab of the truck
- 7:07Speaker 1: to the bed of the truck. Maybe they were gonna
- 7:09Speaker 1: look at the stars, snuggle up under the blanket.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Look, I'm too old. The thought of laying in the
- 7:17Speaker 4: back of a truck bed never.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Never, you would be able to walk the next morning,
- 7:24Speaker 1: the next week, come on, come on. Yeah. I thought
- 7:29Speaker 1: it was like a good opening. We're showing where everybody
- 7:33Speaker 1: was at. And then of course, like Amanda's like freak out, like,
- 7:36Speaker 1: oh my god, oh my god, what happened? I slept
- 7:39Speaker 1: here all night long like a teenager and her running home.
- 7:44Speaker 1: The greatest thing though, is like when Shawna pulls up
- 7:47Speaker 1: and she's.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Like, oh no, no, no no.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Because she knows, she knows Shanna is gonna like Shawna
- 7:54Speaker 1: knows all the dirt obviously, and I think I think
- 7:57Speaker 1: she thought like shot was coming with gossip about her
- 8:02Speaker 1: and Sergio already.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 8:04Speaker 4: You know, it turns out Shauna has information about the
- 8:08Speaker 4: call to the health department.
- 8:10Speaker 2: So I want to tell you.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop here and tell you that I thought
- 8:15Speaker 1: this episode was so much better than the last several episodes.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Mmmmm.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Writers, you know what I mean?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Can I just say, like, when you have and I
- 8:30Speaker 1: don't know how common this is because I've never really
- 8:33Speaker 1: looked at it that closely, but when you have a
- 8:35Speaker 1: series and then you have different writers for each episode that, like,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I imagine it's probably hard to be cohesive in the storytelling.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I don't know if this is true. I think that
- 8:50Speaker 1: some episodes are better than others, and I think I
- 8:53Speaker 1: might hope to do with the writers. Yeah, I don't
- 8:56Speaker 1: have any idea how that works, and I think it's
- 8:58Speaker 1: probably show dependent right. I think there's a very clear
- 9:02Speaker 1: writing style that we see if we were to go
- 9:04Speaker 1: back and look at each of these episodes, I like
- 9:06Speaker 1: that we kind of dig in here on this one
- 9:10Speaker 1: main plot point. You know, we dig in on Gus's house. Obviously,
- 9:14Speaker 1: this isn't something we could have done earlier in the
- 9:16Speaker 1: season of this show. But some of these episodes, I
- 9:21Speaker 1: like how fast paced they are. You know, we're jumping
- 9:24Speaker 1: back and forth from storyline to storyline, but it can
- 9:26Speaker 1: sometimes feel a little bit frantic, and so it was
- 9:29Speaker 1: nice to slow down, zero in focus on this one
- 9:34Speaker 1: location and this one idea and how it's affecting everybody
- 9:37Speaker 1: else for this one episode before we get to the
- 9:40Speaker 1: episode eight resolution.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Will there be resolution in episode eight?
- 9:46Speaker 1: You know? I cannot figure out what is going to happen.
- 9:50Speaker 1: My friend Karen listened to the audiobook of The Chicken Sisters,
- 9:54Speaker 1: and so she was I was talking to her about
- 9:56Speaker 1: the show, and she doesn't subscribe to Hallmark Plus, and
- 9:58Speaker 1: she's like, well, I listened to the first coup full
- 10:00Speaker 1: of episodes of your podcast. She goes, I found the
- 10:03Speaker 1: book frustrating to read, so I'm not sure that I
- 10:05Speaker 1: want to watch the show. And she doesn't have Hollmark
- 10:08Speaker 1: plus anyway. But you know, I've explained to the changes
- 10:12Speaker 1: to her and she's like, yeah, I don't know how
- 10:13Speaker 1: you reconcile that with the way the book ends. Yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I have no idea. I can't envision the ending, and
- 10:21Speaker 1: I can't envision an ending because the book ends kind
- 10:24Speaker 1: of in a harmonious place, and I don't see a
- 10:29Speaker 1: harmonious ending.
- 10:30Speaker 2: For all of our players here.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think they're definitely hoping for a season two for sure. Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 1: because I mean, you've told me what happens in the book,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and I just can't see how that definitely not It's
- 10:46Speaker 1: not it's not going to happen one more episode left.
- 10:49Speaker 1: We of course spend a lot of time clearing out
- 10:51Speaker 1: Gus's house, and I have to tell you it stressed
- 10:55Speaker 1: me out watching the very little bit of proper it
- 11:00Speaker 1: seemed to be happening, Oh for sure. And also I
- 11:04Speaker 1: was like, do y'all not have like a rubbish service
- 11:07Speaker 1: in town? You can call and be like, bring the
- 11:10Speaker 1: biggest dumpster you have so we can load all of
- 11:12Speaker 1: this up.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You seem to know.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Every the Sheriff's here, every single person in town is
- 11:16Speaker 1: here and you're just loading this all out onto the
- 11:19Speaker 1: front lawn.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I was like, get rid of it.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Have a system.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You guys are just moving shit around.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that was frustrating. And I've watched a lot of
- 11:30Speaker 4: like horder type shows before, and I think the process
- 11:36Speaker 4: is probably slow moving because of the person who's you know,
- 11:43Speaker 4: not dealing well with getting rid of this stuff. You know,
- 11:45Speaker 4: it's like a push and pull scenario.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Huh.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yes, But in this episode, I was like, oh my god,
- 11:52Speaker 1: pull a dumpster up and just start throwing shit into
- 11:55Speaker 1: it because you have something bigger on a line here.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You know, she potentially could lose her business. Yet, yes,
- 12:05Speaker 1: you look at the bigger picture, and particularly given that
- 12:09Speaker 1: May had taken over and things were happening and moving,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and yes, Gus was trying to slow the process down.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It just it felt inefficient and it was frustrating to me,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and I just imagined being in that situation feeling overwhelmed.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And spoiler alert if you haven't read the book and
- 12:24Speaker 1: you'd like to top forward thirty seconds, Gus does not
- 12:27Speaker 1: burn her house down in the book.
- 12:29Speaker 2: That is really that's a yo.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, that's a big shocking moment. Interesting that's
- 12:37Speaker 1: very interesting. Can I tell you something I really loved
- 12:40Speaker 1: about this episode? Sure, I love the growth we're seeing
- 12:44Speaker 1: from Sabrina as a producer. One thing I was worried
- 12:49Speaker 1: about coming into this show is Sabrina in the book
- 12:51Speaker 1: is kind of nasty. Sabrina in the book never has
- 12:54Speaker 1: like a oh, maybe we're making gotcha television and I
- 12:56Speaker 1: should rethink that.
- 12:57Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Sabrina just wants to produce the kind of show that's
- 13:02Speaker 1: gonna get people talking and gonna catch people at their worst.
- 13:06Speaker 1: There's scenes where they're almost like hijinxy, like hiding from
- 13:09Speaker 1: Sabrina and like hiding behind the car so she doesn't
- 13:12Speaker 1: see them get there, so she won't you know what
- 13:13Speaker 1: I mean. And in this we we'd see that in
- 13:18Speaker 1: her in the beginning, but when the casting was announced
- 13:21Speaker 1: and I was like, you know, I love Rukia Bernard
- 13:23Speaker 1: and I don't want to root against her for an
- 13:26Speaker 1: entire season. And so one of the best surprises has
- 13:29Speaker 1: been that Sabrina's character is so fun. But in this episode,
- 13:34Speaker 1: where we see that she makes the decision to not
- 13:38Speaker 1: use personally damaging footage.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I like that growth. I did too.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I thought that was a really good scene when May
- 13:50Speaker 1: comes to her and like basically begs her and please
- 13:54Speaker 1: don't do it. She's like, I didn't. It's fine, you know, Like, yeah, yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I love Sabrina, I think though, I think I love
- 14:05Speaker 1: Rukia Bernard Bernard for sure. Yeah, I think I love
- 14:08Speaker 1: her more like I don't know what it is. She
- 14:12Speaker 1: brings a really nice warmth to that character who I
- 14:19Speaker 1: can see being like very nasty.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Yeah. They could have they could have gone
- 14:25Speaker 2: several different ways.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I thought it was a really
- 14:31Speaker 1: funny one when she was she has like an issue
- 14:35Speaker 1: in her hotel room and she got all like gussied
- 14:37Speaker 1: up for Gruster and it wasn't him.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Who Where's Groster?
- 14:43Speaker 1: I think it's funny and I hope to see more
- 14:45Speaker 1: from that if there is a season two. Yeah, more
- 14:50Speaker 1: Grestor please. A couple other little moments we don't get
- 14:55Speaker 1: a lot of resolution on this. This is one of
- 14:58Speaker 1: like before Sabrina kind of has her light bulb moment,
- 15:02Speaker 1: Lindsay is the one who's like, mom, this is not cool,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and Sabrina's like, what are you talking about? Like you're
- 15:09Speaker 1: just hanging out with her because I made you, and
- 15:11Speaker 1: of course Frankie runs away hurt. I don't think there's
- 15:14Speaker 1: any resolution on the Frankie and Lindsay friendship, because I
- 15:18Speaker 1: do think they began as like a here, I'll pay
- 15:22Speaker 1: you if you you can have your phone back or
- 15:25Speaker 1: whatever it was, if you go hang out with this girl.
- 15:27Speaker 1: But it seemed like they had developed a genuine friendship.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That kind of broke my heart a little bit. And
- 15:33Speaker 1: then Sabrina was like, oh, if my kid is saying
- 15:36Speaker 1: like this isn't cool, I maybe need to rethink the
- 15:39Speaker 1: way I'm doing my job. Yeah, totally.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And then the May and Jay of it all. How
- 15:46Speaker 2: awesome is Jay? I know, I just love him.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I've been saying for weeks like I really like May,
- 15:53Speaker 4: and I think May has grown the most. Jay is
- 15:58Speaker 4: just so understanding and she had nothing to be afraid
- 16:04Speaker 4: to tell him.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah he really.
- 16:06Speaker 1: He's like none of these things matter to him, you know, yes,
- 16:10Speaker 1: And he takes a doll in and she's like, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 1: you're not mad that I lied to you for the
- 16:14Speaker 1: entire He's like, well, I don't love that, but you know,
- 16:16Speaker 1: it wasn't the content of the lie that he was
- 16:19Speaker 1: bothered by Yeah, Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 4: What'd you think about the scenes. There were a couple
- 16:24Speaker 4: of really great scenes. I thought when Gus and Sergio
- 16:27Speaker 4: talk and they're sitting outside of her house while people
- 16:30Speaker 4: are giving it up, and she shares how like she
- 16:32Speaker 4: grew up in that house and how it was wonderful
- 16:35Speaker 4: and like how you know, after her mom died all
- 16:38Speaker 4: the stuff like made her feel safe, and how she
- 16:41Speaker 4: was feeling regretful and wished for a do over, and
- 16:45Speaker 4: Sergio tells her it's never too late. I just thought
- 16:48Speaker 4: it was so nice, Like I think you need people
- 16:53Speaker 4: in your life to reassure you that, like, hey, you're
- 16:56Speaker 4: not a terrible human and whatever change you want to make,
- 17:01Speaker 4: it's never too late. I just thought it was a
- 17:03Speaker 4: really really good scene.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I like that she acknowledged, like, you know, I
- 17:09Speaker 1: was her and in return I hurt my girls too. Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: And I think that is such an important lesson, like, Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 1: it's been bad and it came from this, these were
- 17:21Speaker 1: your reasons, this is how you reacted to it. But
- 17:24Speaker 1: you still have whatever the rest of your life looks like,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and why not change it to be the life that
- 17:29Speaker 1: you want and then burning it all to the ground.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Is such like a beautiful visible metaphor for Ude. Starting
- 17:36Speaker 1: over that scene when she burns her house down, I
- 17:42Speaker 1: was like, whoa, I thought it was so good.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I thought it was so good too.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I'm spoiling one of my cluckworthy moments because it's it
- 17:51Speaker 1: was shocking to me as a person who's read the book,
- 17:53Speaker 1: and I think, like we said, like things have to change,
- 17:56Speaker 1: Like you need a big shocking shake up moment, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: we cannot just clean up this mess and start over,
- 18:03Speaker 1: like you do need to burn it to the ground
- 18:06Speaker 1: and start fresh with your relationships, with the way you
- 18:09Speaker 1: live your life, with all of the secrets. We do
- 18:12Speaker 1: see Frankie find that letter addressed to Mimi, Yeah, and
- 18:17Speaker 1: we never we don't see the resolution of that either
- 18:20Speaker 1: where she's gonna take that yeah question. So she's going
- 18:23Speaker 1: through all that stuff and she sees that letter to
- 18:26Speaker 1: Mimi from nineteen twelve.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I paused the TV.
- 18:28Speaker 4: I read the letter. It says something like whoever wrote
- 18:32Speaker 4: it was like I'm not in a place to be
- 18:34Speaker 4: a father. And then like Frankie looks like she has
- 18:37Speaker 4: some sort of realization and like takes off. But I
- 18:39Speaker 4: was like, what's happened what's the realization here? What does
- 18:43Speaker 4: the letter mean? Do you have any insight we You know,
- 18:48Speaker 4: at the.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Very beginning of the series, we're told that, like, the
- 18:52Speaker 1: feud stems from the fact that, like, Franny's husband had
- 18:56Speaker 1: an affair with Maybe, but nobody ever knew if that
- 18:58Speaker 1: was true, And then we learn like, okay, so who
- 19:03Speaker 1: is related to whom now in the Franny's and Miami's world,
- 19:07Speaker 1: right right, I'm curious to see the resolution of that letter.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'm curious to see if Nancy pulls her head out
- 19:14Speaker 1: of her ass and stops defending and supporting her son.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let's talk about that for a second. When
- 19:20Speaker 1: she when she confronts Amanda, have you been disloyal to
- 19:26Speaker 1: Frank Junior? And a man basically like doesn't doesn't confirm,
- 19:31Speaker 1: but it says like he's been disloyal to all of us.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And I'm like, huh, it's just I I need that
- 19:38Speaker 1: that to end. Nancy's such a disappointment to me. M m, yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but I just need that storyline to I don't envy
- 19:47Speaker 1: Nancy's position. I don't envy being in a place where
- 19:50Speaker 1: you like your kids sucks, and now all you want
- 19:54Speaker 1: is for them to be the kind of man that
- 19:55Speaker 1: you believed your husband to be, although obviously it's pretty
- 19:58Speaker 1: clear that that's not who he was was, but you
- 20:00Speaker 1: believed him to be like a good man who was
- 20:03Speaker 1: worthy of respect. He took Frank Junior to work and
- 20:05Speaker 1: was trying to take him under his wing, and Frank
- 20:07Speaker 1: Junior disappointed him.
- 20:08Speaker 2: He's like, well you're out.
- 20:09Speaker 3: That's it.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so the more we learned about Frank Senior, the
- 20:15Speaker 1: less there is to like about him. But come on, Nancy,
- 20:22Speaker 1: just as you said before, someone needs to shake her. Yeah, totally.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I just wouldn't that gonna happen, Or if it's gonna happen,
- 20:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I have no idea.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Of course.
- 20:35Speaker 4: The episode ends the house burning and Gus collapses, and
- 20:40Speaker 4: we are finally getting to her health issues.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Finally.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I thought it was a good ending, though me too.
- 20:49Speaker 1: What I was going to say is, in spite of
- 20:50Speaker 1: the fact that we've been hinting at her health issues
- 20:52Speaker 1: all season long, I was mostly able to forget about
- 20:55Speaker 1: that and that this episode because it wasn't addressed, our
- 20:59Speaker 1: attention wasn't dry to it. So it is a shocking
- 21:02Speaker 1: moment when she passes out in.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Front of the girls. That was good.
- 21:06Speaker 1: All right, are you ready for cluckworthy moments? I am
- 21:10Speaker 1: go ahead. Well, we've discussed it already. But the ending
- 21:15Speaker 1: scene with the fire in the collapse was great. But
- 21:18Speaker 1: another scene that I really liked is the scene where
- 21:22Speaker 1: Shauna arrives to tell Amanda about the health department call.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Her character displays such emotional range in that scene. She
- 21:30Speaker 1: starts with a very Shawna style story, and then she
- 21:33Speaker 1: softens when she breaks the news that the health department
- 21:35Speaker 1: has been called, and then jump to them in the
- 21:38Speaker 1: car where a man is like, you can't tell anybody
- 21:41Speaker 1: about this, and she's very sincere when she says like,
- 21:45Speaker 1: of course she won't, but then of course immediately into
- 21:48Speaker 1: a joke about the next dropping a year way. Anyway,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I think it's great. I really love the character of Shauna.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I love Shauna too. I was thinking about is Amanda
- 21:59Speaker 1: and Shawna I supposed to be best friends.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I don't know that Amanda has a best friend.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Well my thought was like, oh, here Shauna is running
- 22:10Speaker 1: to tell Amanda about the health violation, but Shawna didn't
- 22:15Speaker 1: tell Amanda about Frank Junior and his Bessectwe.
- 22:20Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I don't get the impression they're supposed to best friends.
- 22:24Speaker 1: They're co workers, and I think in this moment she
- 22:27Speaker 1: was like, Amanda needs to know this information.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Got it.
- 22:31Speaker 1: One of my clickworthy moments.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Was and it has to go back to the writing,
- 22:36Speaker 4: but Amanda goes to Gus and tells her about the
- 22:41Speaker 4: health violation and Gus says, Mimi's is cleaner than a
- 22:45Speaker 4: stripper poll on a Monday.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Why want a collection?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah? I want a collection of these Southern one liners
- 22:57Speaker 1: that I get in this series. So funny, very funny.
- 23:01Speaker 1: My final clockworthy moment is the scene where there's a
- 23:04Speaker 1: little bit of a role reversal where Amanda comes to May.
- 23:06Speaker 1: May is having a bit of a panic attack in
- 23:08Speaker 1: the mess and Amanda comes to her rescue for once
- 23:12Speaker 1: and talks her through it. And I appreciated that May.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You know, May's been the one helping everyone along since
- 23:20Speaker 1: she was a child, and she had someone do that
- 23:22Speaker 1: for her.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I enjoyed that too. Did you like when May would
- 23:26Speaker 1: like to deal with what she was dealing with, like
- 23:29Speaker 1: go into her like Sparkle host one hundred percent? I
- 23:33Speaker 1: thought it was a really funny and b have you
- 23:38Speaker 1: ever like like, I'm just gonna pretend that someone can
- 23:41Speaker 1: see me, and I'm going to do this at like
- 23:43Speaker 1: romanticizing your own life, and you're like, I'm going to
- 23:45Speaker 1: wash the dishes as if someone's recording it.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I totally get it.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I one time when I had this job, and when
- 23:53Speaker 1: used to it just so stupid.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I can't even believe.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm like, but we had like key cards to get
- 23:59Speaker 1: into like the behind the doors, and I would pretend
- 24:04Speaker 1: like I was like on Alias, that show Alias. She's
- 24:10Speaker 1: trying to get.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Through the workday, whatever it takes.
- 24:15Speaker 1: So stupid, Okay, so funny. I can't believe I admitted
- 24:19Speaker 1: that who's your fathered friend of the week?
- 24:22Speaker 2: It is Gus.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Actually, I thought it was quite moving that she finally
- 24:29Speaker 4: realized what was most important to her and that where
- 24:32Speaker 4: that was her girls, and that she just needed to
- 24:37Speaker 4: do something different about it. So I thought that was
- 24:39Speaker 4: really good. Yeah, I think that's a great choice. Mine
- 24:43Speaker 4: is Jay, simply for the introduction of a new character
- 24:46Speaker 4: who's a real soft side of this show that we've
- 24:51Speaker 4: been needing. It just made me feel Mormon, fuzzy and
- 24:55Speaker 4: comfy and happy for me that she has someone like that.
