- 0:27Well, hello there, everyone, and welcome once again
- 0:30to the ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life
- 0:32show.
- 0:32It's great to be with you today.
- 0:35It is Saturday, August 8th, 2026.
- 0:37What does that mean?
- 0:38It means that we're on a Saturday, and
- 0:40what that also means is we're on a
- 0:42brand new Master Topic, as we just finished
- 0:43up our Master Topic last week.
- 0:46We go from Saturday to Friday.
- 0:48Great to have you here.
- 0:48Thank you so much for being here.
- 0:50If this is your very first time here,
- 0:52I'd like to say welcome, and I'd like
- 0:54to say the words, thank you.
- 0:56Have you been here one time, five times,
- 0:5810 times, 100 or more, or maybe you
- 1:00lost track?
- 1:01I'd like to say not only that, but
- 1:04I'd also like to say the words, welcome
- 1:06back.
- 1:06I really do appreciate people that enjoy the
- 1:09quality of my content and what I produce
- 1:12here.
- 1:12Thank you very, very much for being here.
- 1:16If you guys are hungry, if you're thirsty
- 1:18or anything like that, or you want some
- 1:20type of snack, feel free to go grab
- 1:22that from the fridge.
- 1:24I've got a brand new tumbler here.
- 1:27I'm on the fence whether I like it
- 1:29or not.
- 1:30It's A-U-R-Y-U.
- 1:31Of course, it's made in China.
- 1:33I open it, just like so, and the
- 1:35top comes out, and then it's somewhat cool,
- 1:40but I don't think it's really cool.
- 1:42I have a hunch this is probably going
- 1:43to get returned this week because I'm not
- 1:45loving this, but I looked at the cool
- 1:47thermoses, and the problem with those are when
- 1:50you suck out from the lid, they say
- 1:52it's a lot harder to suck the water
- 1:54out, so I don't know.
- 1:55I've got to see.
- 1:57I think it's going to be going back,
- 1:59so I'm just letting you know, but anyway,
- 2:00I've got an RO water here with some
- 2:02lemon, and feel free to get that and
- 2:04come on back to the show.
- 2:07All right, guys, so this is Inspirations for
- 2:09Your Life, in case you were wondering.
- 2:12Our master weekly topic I'm proud to announce
- 2:15on Series 5, Show 33, is stop waiting
- 2:18for your life to change.
- 2:20Stop waiting and make your move.
- 2:22Series 5, Show 33, Episode 1, that is
- 2:26our granular topic for today.
- 2:28Welcome everyone to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 2:31It is so great to have you here.
- 2:33I'm John Seymourly, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist,
- 2:41video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate
- 2:46student at Montclair State University, a passionate lifelong
- 2:51learner, and so grateful now to be a
- 2:54published author.
- 2:55Welcome everyone.
- 2:57How much of your life have you spent
- 2:59waiting, waiting until you feel ready, waiting until
- 3:03you have more confidence, waiting for someone to
- 3:07give you permission, waiting for circumstances to improve,
- 3:12waiting until you know exactly how everything will
- 3:15turn out?
- 3:16There is nothing wrong, I have to say
- 3:19this clearly, with preparation, okay?
- 3:23That's the key.
- 3:24But preparation can quietly become hesitation and delay,
- 3:28and that can become a lifestyle that you
- 3:31fall into.
- 3:32So today, I'm talking about breaking that pattern.
- 3:36You don't have to know every step before
- 3:38taking the first one, okay?
- 3:41Sometimes the first move is exactly what reveals
- 3:44the second one.
- 3:46So let's get into our 30 points for
- 3:49you to stop waiting and make your move.
- 3:52Are you ready?
- 3:53Of course you are.
- 3:54Number one, waiting feels safer than starting, and
- 3:57we've said before that when we're comfortable, people
- 4:00just want to sit and veg and just
- 4:02stay there, but that's not where the learning
- 4:04happens.
- 4:04That's not where the growth happens.
- 4:06Waiting protects you from immediate failure, but it
- 4:10also protects you from progress.
- 4:13Safety can come in a way that's expensive
- 4:17when it costs you opportunities you are capable
- 4:20of pursuing.
- 4:22Number two, your first move changes everything.
- 4:26The first move doesn't need to be enormous.
- 4:30Its power comes from changing your status from
- 4:33someone thinking about doing something to someone actually
- 4:38doing it.
- 4:40Number three, stop asking for permission.
- 4:43You don't need everyone to understand your goals
- 4:46before you pursue them.
- 4:49Listen to useful advice, but don't make your
- 4:54future dependent upon universal approval.
- 5:00You'll never get anywhere.
- 5:02Number four, start before confidence arrives.
- 5:07Confidence often comes from evidence.
- 5:11You take action, discover that.
- 5:13You can handle it, and confidence begins growing
- 5:18from the experience.
- 5:21Number five, movement creates clarity.
- 5:25You can think about something for months and
- 5:28still remain uncertain.
- 5:31Taking one step gives you information that thinking
- 5:35alone cannot provide.
- 5:38Number six, give yourself a starting signal.
- 5:42I got to have some more of this
- 5:43water, okay?
- 5:44Again, the container is not very cold.
- 5:52Stop waiting for something external to tell you
- 5:55it's time.
- 5:57Decide right now and pick the moment yourself
- 5:59and begin.
- 6:01Number seven, break the hesitation cycle.
- 6:05Hesitation becomes easier every time you practice it.
- 6:10Interrupt that pattern by making one decision and
- 6:13acting on it before you start negotiating yourself
- 6:16out of it, all right?
- 6:19Again, that's something, again, that a lot of
- 6:21people, I feel, miss because they don't understand
- 6:24that they're falling into a trap of, yes,
- 6:28procrastination, unfortunately.
- 6:31But procrastination is addictive.
- 6:34Number eight, make one bold decision today.
- 6:37You don't need 30 dramatic changes today.
- 6:40One meaningful decision can change the direction and
- 6:44trajectory of everything that follows after.
- 6:47Number nine, stop rehearsing possibilities.
- 6:50There comes a point when imagining every possible
- 6:54outcome stops helping you.
- 6:56You cannot experience your future through rehearsal.
- 7:01Eventually, you have to enter it.
- 7:03Number 10, turn your intention into movement.
- 7:09Good intentions don't produce results by themselves.
- 7:14Give your intention a physical action, a phone
- 7:18call, an appointment, a conversation, or a first
- 7:22completed task.
- 7:24Number 11, choose action over anticipation.
- 7:30Anticipation can make something appear larger than it
- 7:34really is.
- 7:36Action introduces you to reality, and reality is
- 7:39often much easier to manage than what you
- 7:42imagined it was about.
- 7:44Number 12, make today different.
- 7:48How are you going to do that?
- 7:49Simple.
- 7:50If you keep repeating yesterday's behavior, tomorrow shouldn't
- 7:55surprise you by not changing.
- 7:58Change one thing today that interrupts the old
- 8:00pattern you've been living.
- 8:03I think when you do that and you
- 8:05start to see the change, you're like, oh,
- 8:06wait a minute.
- 8:07I get this.
- 8:08This makes sense now.
- 8:09Now I understand why this wasn't working before,
- 8:11right?
- 8:12Those are very key important things that many
- 8:16people, well, they miss.
- 8:18They miss.
- 8:19Number 13, use the moment you have right
- 8:23now.
- 8:24You may not have perfect circumstances, unlimited resources,
- 8:27or endless time.
- 8:28Work with that moment you have that actually
- 8:31exists instead of wanting and waiting for one
- 8:35that may never arrive.
- 8:37And I think that's going to frustrate us
- 8:38more when we can't find that time.
- 8:41Not because of something that's around us, but
- 8:45because it's a delay tactic.
- 8:49Number 14, stop negotiating with yourself.
- 8:52You decide to do something, then immediately begin
- 8:56creating reasons not to do it.
- 8:59Recognize that internal negotiation and stop reopening decisions
- 9:05you've already made.
- 9:0815, take the uncomfortable first step.
- 9:11The first step often feels uncomfortable precisely because
- 9:16it's unfamiliar.
- 9:18Discomfort doesn't automatically mean you're making the wrong
- 9:23decision.
- 9:25I think sometimes in life, people don't realize
- 9:28that when something's uncomfortable, that means that we're
- 9:32on the right track.
- 9:33Some people say we're not on the right
- 9:35track.
- 9:35But I'm here to tell you, you are
- 9:36on the right track, right?
- 9:38That's an important piece.
- 9:40When something's uncomfortable, that's usually where the learning
- 9:43actually happens, OK?
- 9:45That's where the learning takes place, all right?
- 9:48That's where it happens.
- 9:50Number 16, create your own opening.
- 9:52Sometimes opportunity knocks.
- 9:55Other times, you have to build the door.
- 9:58Reach out, introduce yourself, propose the idea, or
- 10:01create the opportunity you're waiting to receive.
- 10:06Number 17, let action answer your doubts.
- 10:10Instead of asking yourself endlessly whether you can
- 10:14do something, test it.
- 10:16Real experience can answer questions.
- 10:19That speculation never will.
- 10:21Number 18, refuse to remain parked.
- 10:25You weren't meant to spend your entire life
- 10:28idling.
- 10:29If one direction isn't working, adjust it.
- 10:32Movement gives you options.
- 10:35Number 19, move before you completely are ready.
- 10:39You know, you could say, I'm going to
- 10:41wait here, and when I'm ready, then I'll
- 10:43move forward.
- 10:43That's not going to help anybody.
- 10:45It's just going to cause more confusion in
- 10:47your life, OK, just being honest.
- 10:49So move before you're completely ready.
- 10:52Number 19, being prepared matters, but complete readiness
- 10:57is often an illusion.
- 11:00At some point, additional preparation becomes another form
- 11:03of, yes, delay.
- 11:05Number 20, give your idea a real chance.
- 11:09Don't reject your own idea before the world
- 11:13ever gets to see it.
- 11:14Test it, improve it, and gather real data
- 11:17and feedback before deciding what it's capable of
- 11:21becoming.
- 11:23I think we're our own worst critics sometimes.
- 11:28And this keeps us from being the person
- 11:30we actually can be.
- 11:32But we never become that person because of
- 11:36some thought that we had.
- 11:37And they were like, oh, wait a minute.
- 11:39I don't know if I can do this.
- 11:40You actually can do it, ladies and gentlemen.
- 11:43You absolutely can do it, all right?
- 11:46When somebody says to me, John, I can't
- 11:48do something, the first thing I ask them
- 11:50is why.
- 11:52And they say, well, because my mother, my
- 11:54brother, my sister, my cousin, my girlfriend, my
- 11:57boyfriend, my whatever, said I can't.
- 12:01Then I ask them another question.
- 12:03Are they your keeper?
- 12:05Like, do they dictate everything you have to
- 12:07do in life?
- 12:09No.
- 12:10Well, then why are you living your life
- 12:13as if you have to get permission from
- 12:15these people?
- 12:19I'm just asking.
- 12:21And they look back and say, well, you
- 12:23know, I want them to, you want them
- 12:24to what?
- 12:25You want them to share that they like
- 12:28your idea?
- 12:31You can't always have people patting you on
- 12:33the back.
- 12:34I'm sorry, guys.
- 12:37And not that a pat on the back
- 12:38is bad, but we can't expect everybody to
- 12:41pat us on the back.
- 12:41We need to be our own best cheerleaders.
- 12:45I know that sounds like something that's really
- 12:48crazy, but it is the truth, guys.
- 12:52It's absolutely the truth.
- 12:55And the more we understand that, the more
- 12:56we can say, hey, this makes sense.
- 13:03That's important, guys.
- 13:05That is a very important thing.
- 13:07But a lot of people today will not
- 13:08understand that because they're like, well, they never
- 13:11gave me approval.
- 13:13So because they never gave you approval, you're
- 13:16going to say no?
- 13:21Seriously?
- 13:25Like, why?
- 13:27Why are you letting these people dictate how
- 13:31your life should be?
- 13:34Well, I'm not doing that.
- 13:37Well, you're not, but why is it that
- 13:40you're stopping what you're doing because someone doesn't
- 13:43say or says something to you?
- 13:48They're not your keeper, OK?
- 13:51Number 21, make your next move visible.
- 13:56Put something on the calendar.
- 14:01Tell the right person.
- 14:03Submit the application.
- 14:05Create a tangible commitment that moves the idea
- 14:11out of your head and into the world.
- 14:15I found that when we set times on
- 14:19calendars, things usually transpire.
- 14:23It's like magical, all right?
- 14:27And it's magical because people look forward to
- 14:32the date that they put on their calendar.
- 14:34They look forward to that date.
- 14:37OK?
- 14:38They look forward to that date.
- 14:41That's a very important thing to actually understand.
- 14:46Number 22, replace someday with today.
- 14:51We've all heard this.
- 14:52Well, I'll do it tomorrow.
- 14:53I'll do it later.
- 14:55I'll do it next week.
- 14:57I'll do it at the end of the
- 14:59month.
- 15:00I'll do it next month.
- 15:01I'll do it at the end of the
- 15:03quarter.
- 15:04I'll do it in the spring.
- 15:07I'll do it in the fall, right?
- 15:10I'll do it when I get back from
- 15:12my trip.
- 15:13I'll do it when Daylight Saving Time ends.
- 15:18I'll do it when Daylight Saving Time starts,
- 15:22right?
- 15:23I'll do it later.
- 15:25But you ever notice that later keeps getting
- 15:28pushed later and later and later?
- 15:29So you never really get to.
- 15:33That point, that's powerful, guys.
- 15:38Like, that's seriously, seriously powerful.
- 15:43I'm talking about really powerful, not just like
- 15:46one-way powerful, like really, really, really, really,
- 15:50really powerful, all right?
- 15:53Number 22, when we understanding that we replace
- 15:58someday with today, we move forward.
- 16:00So someday has no deadline, as well as
- 16:05everything else that's later than today.
- 16:07You see, today does have a deadline.
- 16:10Ask yourself what portion of that future goal
- 16:13can actually begin now.
- 16:14You can say a certain day and put
- 16:17on your calendar and schedule it, but don't
- 16:19change that day.
- 16:21Don't change it.
- 16:23I'm not against people scheduling things.
- 16:26What I'm against is people saying, oh, I'll
- 16:29do it later.
- 16:29I'll do it later.
- 16:30I'll do it later, OK?
- 16:33That's a big problem, OK?
- 16:37And if we don't understand those things, then
- 16:40how are we ever going to move forward
- 16:41in life, right?
- 16:43How are we ever going to move forward?
- 16:45And I think we're going to keep putting
- 16:47ourselves in this endless loop, right?
- 16:55And that's a big, big problem.
- 16:58I think that's something that a lot of
- 17:05people, again, don't really understand.
- 17:09But maybe they mean it's something special.
- 17:14Maybe they mean it's about how people are
- 17:18changing, right?
- 17:20Maybe.
- 17:21But if we don't understand those kinds of
- 17:24things, how can we ever take ourselves to
- 17:28a new level?
- 17:30Because we're always putting things off for later.
- 17:35And then we never get anything done.
- 17:39You know what that does?
- 17:40It robs us of our confidence.
- 17:44It takes us off our path that could
- 17:46make us successful.
- 17:51It takes us off our path to make
- 17:53us successful.
- 17:57And I think that's something that a lot
- 17:59of people here just don't realize, that we're
- 18:02really delaying our success.
- 18:09Not because we have to or want to,
- 18:12but we're doing it because of our actions,
- 18:15because of our voice, because of our thoughts.
- 18:18Number 23, please, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going
- 18:21to say this to you.
- 18:22Don't wait to feel fearless.
- 18:25False evidence appearing real, don't wait.
- 18:28Well, I'm going to wait.
- 18:29I'll be stronger tomorrow.
- 18:30Or I'm going to wait because tomorrow I'm
- 18:34going to conquer the world.
- 18:35Now, if you seriously aren't feeling well or
- 18:39you need a break, I get it.
- 18:41But let's not make the thing about tomorrow
- 18:44something that keeps changing, where tomorrow never comes.
- 18:49You see, ladies and gentlemen, courage doesn't require
- 18:51fear to disappear.
- 18:53Nope.
- 18:55It means fear no longer gets the deciding
- 18:58vote in our life.
- 19:02That's a powerful thing, guys.
- 19:04When fear doesn't get to choose, we make
- 19:08a big decision in our life, a very,
- 19:11very big decision.
- 19:13And I know that's crazy, right?
- 19:22And a lot of people are going to
- 19:23say to me, hey, John, I don't quite
- 19:25get that.
- 19:27I don't quite get that.
- 19:36I think that happens because of things we're
- 19:40hearing, things we were previously told.
- 19:42Number 24, guys, put yourself in motion.
- 19:47Momentum isn't something you find.
- 19:50It's something you generate.
- 19:52Start small enough that you have no convincing
- 19:55excuse not to begin.
- 19:58Number 25, turn uncertainty into discovery.
- 20:03Instead of treating uncertainty as a warning to
- 20:06stop, treat it as something to explore.
- 20:10Curiosity can take you places fear would never
- 20:13allow you to visit.
- 20:17And that's something very powerful.
- 20:19Number 26, start where nobody is applauding.
- 20:23Not every beginning gets recognition.
- 20:27Some of your most important work will happen
- 20:30before anyone notices it.
- 20:33Do it anyway because the work matters, not
- 20:37because someone is watching.
- 20:39There's so many times in life that people
- 20:42decide to do something better.
- 20:45Why?
- 20:45Because they want to impress somebody.
- 20:49They want to see somebody's watching.
- 20:51But really, it doesn't matter if somebody's watching,
- 20:54right?
- 20:55Doesn't matter if somebody's watching.
- 20:58That's an important piece.
- 21:01And if we know that, then we can
- 21:03make a very, very big difference.
- 21:05We make a very, very big difference, a
- 21:08difference that can change our life and can
- 21:11change other people's lives.
- 21:14I think that's the most important thing.
- 21:16Number 27, I'm going to ask you to
- 21:20become harder to hold back.
- 21:23Take that fire, take that inertia, take that
- 21:25passion, and let it out.
- 21:28Every time you choose to act despite hesitation,
- 21:33you strengthen your ability to do it again
- 21:35and again.
- 21:37You see, ladies and gentlemen, eventually, taking action
- 21:40begins feeling more natural than remaining stuck.
- 21:44Nobody wants to remain stuck, do they?
- 21:46No.
- 21:47Number 28, one move can redirect everything.
- 21:52A single conversation, introduction, decision, application, idea, or
- 21:57opportunity can change your trajectory.
- 22:00Right now, you won't discover which move matters
- 22:06until you actually make it.
- 22:09So make a move.
- 22:12Number 29, your future needs your participation.
- 22:16Your future isn't simply something arriving while you
- 22:20wait.
- 22:21Your choices are helping construct it every day.
- 22:24Participate deliberately.
- 22:26That's a key, guys.
- 22:27Number 30, make the move you've been avoiding.
- 22:30Now, you probably already know what it is.
- 22:34Maybe it's a conversation, it's a project, application,
- 22:37decision, change, or an idea you've repeatedly postponed,
- 22:41saying, I'll do it tomorrow, I'll do it
- 22:43next week, I'll do it next month, I'll
- 22:44do it next year, but that never comes.
- 22:47Ladies and gentlemen, don't make it larger tonight
- 22:50by carrying it into another tomorrow, another later,
- 22:56more procrastination, more delay.
- 23:00Make the move now.
- 23:05I know that sounds scary, okay, but it's
- 23:10important to understand that.
- 23:13It's important to understand that right now.
- 23:18And that can make a difference in your
- 23:20life every single day.
- 23:22Okay, not just today, but every single day.
- 23:26That's a very important thing to understand.
- 23:32Every single day that can happen, every single
- 23:36day.
- 23:38So as we get ready to close today's
- 23:41show, not the week, but just this episode,
- 23:46and we begin our new weekly theme, stop
- 23:50waiting for your life to change.
- 23:53Remember, ladies and gentlemen, this change doesn't always
- 23:57announce itself with one enormous moment or a
- 24:02grand gesture, sorry.
- 24:05It's sometimes subtle, it's sometimes a realization you
- 24:10have, a shift in your mindset, a perspective
- 24:13change.
- 24:15Sometimes change begins quietly within us.
- 24:20You send the message, you make the call,
- 24:25you submit the application, right?
- 24:31You start the project, you decide to have
- 24:37the conversation, and you finally do the thing
- 24:44you've spent weeks, months, years thinking about doing,
- 24:52you do it now.
- 24:54You don't need every answer before you begin.
- 24:59You need enough information to take a responsible
- 25:03first step and enough courage to actually take
- 25:06it.
- 25:08That's powerful, guys, because you see, movement creates
- 25:12information.
- 25:14Information creates clarity.
- 25:17Clarity helps you make the next decision.
- 25:20Don't spend another season of your life standing
- 25:25at the starting line, wondering what might happen.
- 25:32Your future needs something from you, not anybody
- 25:38else, you.
- 25:40It's got to start with you.
- 25:42You see, your participation, your drive, your passion,
- 25:52your thoughts become energy.
- 25:56Your thoughts become energy.
- 25:59Everything we think about, we focus on for
- 26:02a while, we actually bring about.
- 26:05No, not in five seconds, but we keep
- 26:07working on that, we do.
- 26:09Ladies and gentlemen, if you don't know who
- 26:11I am by now, I am John C.
- 26:14Morley, serial entrepreneur, and I thank you so
- 26:16much for choosing to join me for another
- 26:18amazing episode of Inspirations For Your Life.
- 26:22Remember, ladies and gentlemen, you don't have to
- 26:27change everything today.
- 26:31No, don't be, you know, let's say, side
- 26:35swipes.
- 26:35Oh, my gosh, I got to change my
- 26:36whole life today.
- 26:37No, you don't.
- 26:38But you can change something, just something, just
- 26:45one thing in your life.
- 26:46It doesn't have to be anything major.
- 26:48It could be one thing.
- 26:51Maybe it's your diet, maybe it's your exercise
- 26:54routine, maybe it's your sleep routine, right?
- 26:58Maybe it's your healthcare routine, right?
- 27:01Maybe.
- 27:02Ladies and gentlemen, please stop waiting.
- 27:07You got to stop waiting.
- 27:08And you got to make your move now.
- 27:15A lot of people are on the fence
- 27:17when I say make your move now.
- 27:20It's kind of like, you know, being at
- 27:22the swimming pool.
- 27:24And I remember many years ago, I'm going
- 27:25to jump in, but the pool's cold.
- 27:28I would always dip my toe, like, oh,
- 27:29it's cold.
- 27:30Finally, I decided to just jump in, right?
- 27:33And your body adjusts.
- 27:36Make your move now.
- 27:40And give your future a chance to become
- 27:44something different.
- 27:48Different.
- 27:49Because Einstein said, if we do the same
- 27:51thing over and over again, and we expect
- 27:55different results, that is the definition, my friends,
- 27:58of insanity.
