- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's guest is an actor, one of the greats of
- 0:03Speaker 1: our time, some people would say. You may know him
- 0:07Speaker 1: from some of his many films, Whiplash, War Dogs, Top
- 0:12Speaker 1: Gun 2. And he has a new movie, Eternity, that
- 0:17Speaker 1: comes out November 26th. It'll be in theaters. You can
- 0:21Speaker 1: go check it out. I've met him before, and I'm
- 0:25Speaker 1: grateful to sit down and spend time with him today. Uh,
- 0:29Speaker 1: he's a one of a kind. Today's guest is Mr.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Miles Teller.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Um, and where's your home base? My home base is Nashville. Okay.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Our sister law, uh, or Kelly's sister, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law,
- 1:01Speaker 4: they just moved to, I think they bought a spot
- 1:03Speaker 4: in fucking Troubadour.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, dude, remember?
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's the first time I met you was when I-
- 1:06Speaker 1: Was over there, yeah. You and your wife, I met
- 1:08Speaker 1: you out there with- Yeah. Yeah, that was cool.
- 1:13Speaker 2: He's an LSU boy, too.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and Todd is awesome. Yeah, I saw Todd last week. Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 2: he's a great dude. He's such a fucking, he invited
- 1:19Speaker 2: me to the Ryder Cup with him. I couldn't go,
- 1:21Speaker 2: but he's just awesome. Todd Graves. He's a great dude. Yeah,
- 1:24Speaker 2: he's an interesting guy. You know, he owns a Triceratops head.
- 1:29Speaker 2: He owns that. He owns one. He lent it to
- 1:31Speaker 2: the museum in Louisiana. I mean, just obviously the skull. Yes. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: That's cool though. Yeah. Good call.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I would pay somebody to fucking... realistically fill that bitch in.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh, dude. Well, and especially like, you'll see a lot
- 1:45Speaker 2: of perverts will be like, oh, look at the tits
- 1:46Speaker 2: on that. I'm like, those aren't, those are horns, you idiot.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Are we talking right now? Yeah. Is this real?
- 1:51Speaker 1: We can be, or we can start over. Okay, no, dude,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm all good.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I just had no idea.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But yeah, you'll see people just hang Mardi Gras bees
- 1:58Speaker 1: and stuff on, in Louisiana, people just don't give a shit.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Wow, wow. But yeah, I just saw Todd the other day, dude.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Where's he keep it? In the, there's like a museum
- 2:07Speaker 2: over there.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So it's like a Louisiana museum. So there's like, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: the stuff, the artifacts they keep in there are a
- 2:16Speaker 1: little bit different, like a beer bottle, you know, or
- 2:18Speaker 1: like shit that's just a little bit more Louisiana.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I mean, I grew up a lot of my, half
- 2:22Speaker 4: my life I grew up in central Florida. So I
- 2:25Speaker 4: imagine it would be similar kind of museums.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 2: With like Daniel Tosh was down there? Was Tosh popping
- 2:30Speaker 2: when you were growing up?
- 2:31Speaker 4: Well, yeah, but also like the Daily Show came to
- 2:33Speaker 4: my county twice when I was growing up. The one
- 2:36Speaker 4: is because they have a cooter festival, which is a
- 2:38Speaker 4: type of turtle.
- 2:40Speaker 2: A cooter? A cooter. It's like a type of turtle.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Bring up that cooter turtle. Yeah, flash up that cooter.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And then the other one, it was like Ed Helms
- 2:49Speaker 4: came because the town next to mine banned.
- 2:51Speaker 2: The devil from coming into the town. And it was
- 2:55Speaker 2: the town of Inglis.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Like some pretty backwoods, like Citrus County's where, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 4: I went to middle school, high school.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Bro, that's amazing that they, first of all, this is, oh,
- 3:05Speaker 1: it looks like Cooter-tober just happened.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 4: They're really kind of, I guess, branching out. You could
- 3:11Speaker 4: probably do it for every month. Anything that ends in
- 3:15Speaker 4: an R, I think you're good, dude.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Cooter-tober. Yeah. That sounds pretty.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Wild.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Cooter-tober is back, it says. Apparently it was discontinued
- 3:27Speaker 2: for a bit. A whole month of cooterific fun. Inverness, Florida.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Let's go. Shout out.
- 3:34Speaker 1: This year we're returning with all your favorite events like
- 3:35Speaker 1: the Cooter Carnival, Small Town Saturday Night Cooter Comedy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Oh, that's great. Yeah, yeah. And that's the Cooter Turtle. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 2: that is.
- 3:45Speaker 4: They must not have discovered it for a while or
- 3:48Speaker 4: they must not have given it. They must not have
- 3:50Speaker 4: celebrated as much because it didn't, I remember that they
- 3:52Speaker 4: didn't start like cooter fest until like I was, I
- 3:56Speaker 4: don't even know if I was still in high school.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I might've been out of high school. So it took
- 3:59Speaker 4: a while.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I wonder how it even got that name. Cause I've
- 4:02Speaker 1: heard of people using like kind of slang. Well, goats
- 4:05Speaker 1: for like bestiality. But if they were, if this would
- 4:08Speaker 1: be the worst thing to try to invade a species,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you know, like get it some, like, yeah. How did
- 4:14Speaker 1: they get its name? How did the cooter turtle get
- 4:15Speaker 1: its name? The cooter turtle got its name from the
- 4:18Speaker 1: African word kuta. which means turtle.
- 4:21Speaker 2: In the Bambara and Malinque languages, the word was brought
- 4:25Speaker 2: to us. Yeah, so it was, yeah. Originally, it was cuda. Cuda.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuda. Yeah, cuda fist. Hey, boy.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Come on down a cuda fist. I just saw a woman,
- 4:36Speaker 1: they have a woman that has two cudas, actually. I
- 4:41Speaker 1: saw she's on TikTok the other day.
- 4:43Speaker 2: There's a woman.
- 4:44Speaker 1: What?
- 4:44Speaker 2: Now are you? Now I'm talking about the anatomy. Now
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm changing it. You want to hear a, Okay, yeah, go.
- 4:50Speaker 2: There is a woman who has two vaginas that's on TikTok. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 2: She sent a DM the other day to me. How
- 4:56Speaker 2: many DMs did she send? One for me. Dude, dude.
- 5:03Speaker 2: She sent replica DMs. That's insane, bro. So can I
- 5:07Speaker 2: tell you a story? Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 4: So I'm at my boy's wedding, and he's from Ohio.
- 5:15Speaker 4: We're at the reception now, the after reception.
- 5:17Speaker 2: We're all just hanging out in the hotel room. And
- 5:19Speaker 2: the one dude's like, yo, do you remember that girl
- 5:21Speaker 2: went to high school with two vaginas? And he's like, dude,
- 5:24Speaker 2: you're talking about Cheryl? And then his other buddy's like, yo,
- 5:26Speaker 2: Double Barrel Cheryl? And I just thought that was the
- 5:30Speaker 2: funniest fucking nickname I've ever heard in my life. Double
- 5:34Speaker 2: Barrel Cheryl. I was like, that's got to go in
- 5:36Speaker 2: some American Pie type movie. Just Double Barrel Cheryl. So
- 5:41Speaker 2: as soon as he started talking about that, I was like, oh,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I have one. Put her in a museum. Apparently she
- 5:47Speaker 2: used to say like, this one's for my boyfriend. I'm
- 5:49Speaker 2: saving this one for my husband.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Oh.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of beautiful. Yeah. Yeah, right?
- 5:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Because I would just, if I had both, dude.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You'd blow them both in the first week. Yeah, exactly. Exactly, dude.
- 6:04Speaker 1: No, I'd be like, I'm saving this one for after
- 6:06Speaker 1: dinner or whatever. I would definitely, dude. This is the dessert.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It would be like AM, PM. That's it, dude. Like
- 6:15Speaker 2: the gas station. 24 hours. Running all night, dude.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is my morning one. And this is my evening one.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And one has like tattoos around it and stuff and
- 6:26Speaker 1: the other.
- 6:27Speaker 2: One is a bit more like back. Classy. A little
- 6:31Speaker 2: bit more upscale. Upscale. Leave a Yelp review. This one's
- 6:38Speaker 2: This one's closing in on five stars. You know what
- 6:41Speaker 2: that one is. Yeah, and the other one, for some reason,
- 6:44Speaker 2: is 3.8 stars. You're like... Both viable options. Pretty good. Look,
- 6:51Speaker 2: I'll pull up a chair. Go back to that woman.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That's double barrels of great name. Double barrels, Cheryl, dude.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Wow.
- 6:59Speaker 2: We weren't fortunate enough to get a woman like this
- 7:01Speaker 2: in our area. Let's see what she says here.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I was born with two vaginas. two uteruses and two cervixes.
- 7:10Speaker 5: There was no join from my mouth to my stomach
- 7:15Speaker 5: and that instead my food pipe was connected into my
- 7:18Speaker 5: air pipe going into my lungs.
- 7:20Speaker 2: The music is... That's tough.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I feel like our tone should have been a little
- 7:28Speaker 4: different when we were talking about... I'm sure it's a
- 7:31Speaker 4: horrible thing to deal with.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Oh, I can't even imagine. Even if I had two... Penises.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Two penises. I would– yeah, I don't know.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Oh, well, that would be very tough if you were–
- 7:43Speaker 1: especially like when you're in high school and stuff and
- 7:45Speaker 1: your body– you're going through puberty and whatever and you're
- 7:48Speaker 1: getting erection in high school.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I would– oh. Erections. Yeah. Unless they will operate different frequencies. Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It's like AMF. That's like an antenna.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Like that's– there's no hiding that.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You got it.
- 8:03Speaker 4: You got two right on rock, dude. But if you
- 8:06Speaker 4: could time them out, you know, as soon as the
- 8:09Speaker 4: one's done.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Other boy. Like a pentameter? Yeah, yeah. Almost like a drummer.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Like your one's just getting the tires, you know, warmed up.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 2: The other one's. like, you know, doing a hot lab.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I think if you, well, especially like drummers.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It'd be like a, if they had a cool pentameter
- 8:26Speaker 2: kind of. Oh yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Um, well the Grateful Dead has two drummers. Do they?
- 8:30Speaker 2: It's the best. You have their shirt on.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You went to their, I saw you went to their 60th.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I did the San Francisco. I, um, yeah, I mean, I've,
- 8:38Speaker 4: I've seen him at the sphere. I've seen kind of
- 8:40Speaker 4: this iteration dead and co for, I think pretty much
- 8:43Speaker 4: since John, started but yeah they're my john mayer yeah
- 8:46Speaker 4: john mayer uh but even before that i was seeing
- 8:49Speaker 4: you know some different versions of them and you know
- 8:50Speaker 4: bob weir and uh you know phil lesh kind of
- 8:53Speaker 4: independently but yeah it's the best honestly like when our
- 8:56Speaker 4: house burned down like the thing that i was probably
- 8:59Speaker 4: one of the things i was most upset about was
- 9:00Speaker 4: all of these vintage grateful dead shirts but that community
- 9:04Speaker 4: is so awesome i don't have instagram or anything but
- 9:07Speaker 4: they reached out to kelly and we're like hey you
- 9:09Speaker 4: know deadheads they were like we feel so bad for
- 9:12Speaker 4: you guys and we know if our house burned down
- 9:14Speaker 4: we would really miss those shirts can we send you
- 9:17Speaker 4: some from our own you know collection so a bunch.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Of people um shout out to.
- 9:21Speaker 4: You uh you know just send me shirts it's such
- 9:23Speaker 4: a loving community um i feel like all those you
- 9:27Speaker 4: know bands from from that era especially the dead who
- 9:29Speaker 4: really kind of supported you know everybody there's their crowds
- 9:33Speaker 4: were rainbow colored before anybody's you know i mean if
- 9:36Speaker 4: that makes sense so Wow.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So people just sent you different ones. Is that one
- 9:41Speaker 1: of them? No, this one I think I got up
- 9:44Speaker 1: in San Francisco. Oh, that was the spread.
- 9:47Speaker 4: That was just for like three days, but I was like,
- 9:49Speaker 4: I don't know what pants I'm going to wear.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Oh, that's for when you
- 9:53Speaker 2: went to a show?
- 9:53Speaker 4: For San Francisco, there was three nights. So I just
- 9:56Speaker 4: took them all out. It's kind of the only stuff
- 9:58Speaker 4: I post about is like... yeah, even my, I guess
- 10:01Speaker 4: my bio quote or, I mean, that's a Jerry Garcia one.
- 10:04Speaker 4: That's great, dude.
- 10:06Speaker 2: My brother has a big Jerry Garcia tattoo on his chest.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Does he? He loves them.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to go together actually and see them
- 10:12Speaker 1: at the Sphere one time. Our producer Zach went and
- 10:15Speaker 1: saw them, I believe for two nights in San Francisco.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Zach? Yeah, I was up there. I was up
- 10:19Speaker 2: all three nights, actually. Nice. Yeah, I mean, they're all amazing. Sturgill,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I thought Sturgill was exceptional. I was going to ask,
- 10:26Speaker 2: who do you think is the best sit-in?
- 10:28Speaker 4: Sturgill is exceptional. I mean, I just think overall Saturday
- 10:31Speaker 4: night was kind of the best. It's hard because you
- 10:34Speaker 4: can look at the set list, but usually at least
- 10:37Speaker 4: one of those weekend shows, they just catch lightning in
- 10:40Speaker 4: a bottle. And I think that's the beauty of the
- 10:42Speaker 4: band is that you're never going to hear the same
- 10:44Speaker 4: song twice, but because it's so improvisational... Um, and they're
- 10:48Speaker 4: on the ride with you, you know what I mean?
- 10:49Speaker 4: To play music at that level. Um, and they are,
- 10:52Speaker 4: there's such, I mean, the skillset from all those guys
- 10:54Speaker 4: so high, but it's just fun, dude. I dance my
- 10:56Speaker 4: ass off too. People think it's like, you're just high
- 10:59Speaker 4: and just sitting there. It's like, no, that music makes
- 11:00Speaker 4: me boogie, dude.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Like, I love it. I love it. If you're not sweating,
- 11:04Speaker 2: you're not trying either.
- 11:06Speaker 4: I think maybe some of that's the Florida thing, but
- 11:07Speaker 4: it's like, I grew up with a thin layer of
- 11:09Speaker 4: sweat all over my body all the time.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It makes you feel alive, dude.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Oh, in Louisiana, you can't even land a handshake with people.
- 11:15Speaker 1: If it's humid day, you'll see people trying to land
- 11:17Speaker 1: a handshake for fucking 30 seconds, 40 seconds.
- 11:19Speaker 2: They'll just give up on the friendship. They'll go their
- 11:21Speaker 2: separate ways. It's just that's the kind of place it is, man.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I always say it's like you have a thought and
- 11:27Speaker 2: you're sweating. Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 11:29Speaker 4: But that air, too, like when you get off the plane,
- 11:31Speaker 4: because we would always fly into Tampa, like you get
- 11:33Speaker 4: off that plane.
- 11:33Speaker 2: It's just a huff. It's just a thick air, dude. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 2: it feels like the air has a little bit of
- 11:38Speaker 2: an infection, to be honest with you. You know what
- 11:40Speaker 2: I mean?
- 11:41Speaker 4: When I feel that like air at night, it just
- 11:46Speaker 4: makes me feel like mischievous because when I was– like
- 11:49Speaker 4: all those teenage years just at sunsets, get on a bike,
- 11:53Speaker 4: just figure out some shit to do in your neighborhood.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Like that air just makes me kind of– yeah, relapse
- 11:59Speaker 4: I guess is the word.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Dude, there is something about it like– there's something about–
- 12:05Speaker 1: I even think about this. Like if you ever stay
- 12:07Speaker 1: at a– if you're ever at a place that doesn't
- 12:09Speaker 1: have air conditioning, right? Like at first you're like, most
- 12:12Speaker 1: of Europe, dude, you're like, this sucks. But then I
- 12:14Speaker 1: feel like your dreams and everything is more acclimated to
- 12:18Speaker 1: the actual climate of whatever's going on.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Um, and I always feel like I get like, I
- 12:24Speaker 1: have like, like, like more imaginative or creative dreams whenever, um,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'm in a place that doesn't have air conditioning for
- 12:30Speaker 1: some reason. Um, but yeah, that South dude, that shit
- 12:33Speaker 1: hits you hard, dude. You do dance, man. I noticed,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I remember this now. I think, I don't know if
- 12:39Speaker 1: it could have been like Marshmello maybe. It was one
- 12:41Speaker 1: night we were both in Las Vegas after a UFC fight.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And maybe it was Chainsmokers or something. It might have
- 12:46Speaker 1: been that one when Ed Sheeran was there.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But you were like– you danced, dude. Even if you're
- 12:54Speaker 1: just by yourself, you are doing your own thing. It's
- 12:57Speaker 1: like some people would think like, oh, Miles Teller, like
- 13:00Speaker 1: he's just going to be like this cool guy. And
- 13:02Speaker 1: he just like flew his jet in there, his fucking–
- 13:05Speaker 1: Mock 70 jet Southwest But I mean he flew his
- 13:10Speaker 1: top gun plane He's gonna sit Nah dude I love
- 13:14Speaker 1: it You have your own time That's what it feels
- 13:16Speaker 1: like It's like you decide that I'm gonna have a
- 13:19Speaker 1: good time for me And it almost like inspires Like
- 13:22Speaker 1: god I wish I could be that free I think.
- 13:25Speaker 4: You're pretty free I think you're a pretty free fucking
- 13:27Speaker 4: dude you know, just from, I guess I could dance better.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah. Well, I mean, yeah, I don't know. I think, uh,
- 13:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 13:34Speaker 4: And somebody, I heard something a while back and it's
- 13:37Speaker 4: not something I like think about, but they were like,
- 13:40Speaker 4: you know, if you have, if you're having a party
- 13:41Speaker 4: or wherever you're, you're a group of people, you're not
- 13:44Speaker 4: sure everybody, they said like the number one way to
- 13:46Speaker 4: kind of try and have everybody make everybody have a
- 13:49Speaker 4: good time is just start, just have a good time yourself.
- 13:51Speaker 4: And I think that, but also I've just always like rhythm, uh, yeah, dancing.
- 13:56Speaker 4: That's something I've just always kind of, got down with
- 13:59Speaker 4: like that's how i i i just yeah i love
- 14:02Speaker 4: it but yeah any i mean that dj music um
- 14:07Speaker 4: but i was like bob seger like classic rock gets
- 14:09Speaker 4: me gets me going dude let alone if there's you
- 14:12Speaker 4: know some rock piano i love that shit.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah um yeah dude some good jazz i like my
- 14:19Speaker 1: mom came in town recently we went and listened to
- 14:20Speaker 1: some blues she likes to do that i went and listened.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Where'd you where'd you Did you go somewhere for blues?
- 14:25Speaker 1: We went to this blues place in Nashville. It's just
- 14:28Speaker 1: like in Printer's Alley. I think it's kind of a–
- 14:31Speaker 1: it's a bit of a touristy spot kind of. But
- 14:33Speaker 1: I think we were just having trouble finding a spot.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And so we went.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And we had a great time. It was actually a
- 14:38Speaker 1: guy from New Orleans that was playing. And so we
- 14:41Speaker 1: just sat there and just had a nice time. She
- 14:43Speaker 1: likes to listen to it.
- 14:44Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 14:45Speaker 1: As my mom gets older, she almost turns into a
- 14:46Speaker 1: child a little bit. And there's moments where it's almost
- 14:49Speaker 1: like it's a kid there. But just like in an
- 14:53Speaker 1: older body.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Like what, just the fascination, the kind of, it feels
- 15:00Speaker 4: new to her?
- 15:02Speaker 2: It's a good question. It's like, you can just see
- 15:04Speaker 2: on her face she's having a good time.
- 15:05Speaker 4: It almost feels like pure and some innocence to it.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, yeah, that's great. How old's your mom? She's 77. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 2: So she's an adult. She looks a little bit like
- 15:14Speaker 2: Willie Nelson. Let's see a picture of her. She's not
- 15:17Speaker 2: going to want to hear that part. She looks a
- 15:20Speaker 2: bit like Willie Nelson. Oh, hell yeah. She's awesome. Dude,
- 15:25Speaker 2: I love that. She listens to every episode of this. Oh, great.
- 15:30Speaker 2: What's her name? Her name is Gina. What's up, Gina?
- 15:33Speaker 2: There you go, Mom. Miles is married, Mom. Calm down.
- 15:39Speaker 2: What's your mom's name? Mary. Mary? Yeah, like Christmas. M-E-R-R-Y. Oh, really?
- 15:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 2: And they did that on purpose?
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, she was born like December 15th. That's close enough.
- 15:50Speaker 4: But she gets like– so it's not Mary– Uh, and
- 15:54Speaker 4: my mom's like, my mom's like best friend. Uh, my
- 15:57Speaker 4: mom says she's like the only one who pronounces her
- 15:59Speaker 4: name correctly.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And it's memory. Yeah. Okay.
- 16:04Speaker 4: And then some of the, I just remember like something
- 16:06Speaker 4: like not, they're not your uncles, but like these guys
- 16:10Speaker 4: live in the neighborhood and they just all seem like
- 16:12Speaker 4: kind of pervy.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 2: You know, Oh, guys that loiter or whatever.
- 16:15Speaker 4: They were like family friends and shit, but just some
- 16:17Speaker 4: based on the, I don't know. I just feel like
- 16:18Speaker 4: when I watch these old home videos, it's, you'll just
- 16:21Speaker 4: hear some, you're like, Whoa, that was, Yeah, pervy as shit, dude.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So they'll say, like, Mary. Then they'll go,
- 16:27Speaker 2: I can't do it. Lugga, lugga, lugga, lugga, lugga, lugga. Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 2: that's going to raise a few flags. Yeah, yeah. Wow. Mary. Mary. Yeah,
- 16:40Speaker 2: that is nice. What does your mom do for work?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Does she work?
- 16:44Speaker 4: She did real estate for a while, but, yeah, no,
- 16:47Speaker 4: not working. My dad actually retired recently. He just retired
- 16:50Speaker 4: a couple.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Of years ago. He was born in 54. So 71,
- 16:53Speaker 2: I think he retired pretty close to 70.
- 16:55Speaker 1: And are they enjoying, has it gotten weird for them
- 16:57Speaker 1: since they're both retired? Have they all, cause you know,
- 16:59Speaker 1: some couples it gets weird cause they're in there both
- 17:01Speaker 1: at home and stuff.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. I mean, yeah, I don't know.
- 17:04Speaker 4: You know, I don't know. I mean, I see him
- 17:07Speaker 4: a good amount, but I I'm sure.
- 17:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I know my dad likes doing like outside work.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 17:13Speaker 1: A lot of guys, the second they realize that they're,
- 17:16Speaker 1: have to be in the, like when the retirement happens, like,
- 17:18Speaker 1: oh God, there's nowhere to go.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You need something like hobbies. My stepdad built like 40
- 17:24Speaker 1: bird houses in our school.
- 17:25Speaker 2: He did not want to be just the building. Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Just never. Did he ever put them on? Some of
- 17:32Speaker 2: them he did. Yeah. He also, he got the one,
- 17:34Speaker 2: the helmet, 14 year old and shop class. I guess
- 17:36Speaker 2: that's kind of.
- 17:37Speaker 1: The, he was building dog house. We didn't even have
- 17:39Speaker 1: a dog. I think he just wanted to be, he
- 17:41Speaker 1: still needed some time alone.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I think there's that.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I mean, I don't have kids yet, but I imagine,
- 17:48Speaker 4: you know, yeah, because growing up, my dad would, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 4: he'd be like working on the pool or something or
- 17:52Speaker 4: just be fiddling with stuff in.
- 17:53Speaker 2: The garage for like hours. I have no idea what
- 17:55Speaker 2: he was doing.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's got to be cool dad stuff. I bet
- 17:59Speaker 2: it would be cool whenever you're a dad. Just kind
- 18:00Speaker 2: of tinkering. I just want to tinker. You know what
- 18:03Speaker 2: I mean? I could tinker for days, dude.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Let me get out here. Let me start collecting something weird, too.
- 18:08Speaker 1: My buddy's dad. collected all these toy trains and stuff,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and whenever we'd go over there, he'd have to set
- 18:14Speaker 1: it all up, dude.
- 18:15Speaker 2: It would take... Like around the holidays, around Christmas or something?
- 18:19Speaker 1: I think it was any time he started to lose
- 18:21Speaker 1: his mind, and he would just set that bitch up
- 18:23Speaker 1: in June, you know?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. And he'd have to.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Set, he'd have to do the train, and it was
- 18:28Speaker 1: just like, you want to support your friend's parents, but
- 18:32Speaker 1: it was just a lot.
- 18:33Speaker 2: It was a lot. It's a lot to watch somebody
- 18:36Speaker 2: do the toy train a lot.
- 18:38Speaker 4: I had this bus driver... growing up his nickname was
- 18:43Speaker 4: fingers because he was missing a.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Couple of them but he had this thankfully that's the
- 18:48Speaker 2: reason why because there's a bus full.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Of kids fingers fingers yeah and he'd always point at
- 18:54Speaker 4: you with the with the nub oh yeah but he
- 18:56Speaker 4: had this belt buckle because we're talking about collecting weird
- 18:59Speaker 4: shit or whatever but he had this belt buckle that
- 19:01Speaker 4: was looked like he had hand glued on like silver
- 19:04Speaker 4: dollars and so it was just like 20 silver dollars
- 19:07Speaker 4: I thought it was cool as shit When I was
- 19:09Speaker 4: a kid.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Oh, dude, the stuff you thought was cool when you
- 19:12Speaker 2: were a kid was so great, dude. Yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Even like you said earlier, like I remember, I was
- 19:17Speaker 1: talking about this the other day, whenever like the sun,
- 19:19Speaker 1: like if you were playing in the street with your
- 19:21Speaker 1: friends and it was like somebody was pitching the ball,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you're like, one more pitch, but the sun was setting.
- 19:25Speaker 1: You'd be like, dude, just one more. Like you knew
- 19:27Speaker 1: you were going to try to hit a homer. Like
- 19:28Speaker 1: it just, the game, it wasn't even... It was just like,
- 19:31Speaker 1: just these moments when you were a kid, everything was
- 19:34Speaker 1: so severe. Or if you rode your bike at night,
- 19:36Speaker 1: just anything like that, it was so.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Just riding a bike, like, in jazz, I think the beauty,
- 19:41Speaker 4: you know, just riding a bike in general, man, it
- 19:43Speaker 4: just brings you back to that. um i got i
- 19:46Speaker 4: knocked myself out once playing this game uh i got
- 19:51Speaker 4: a bunch of concussions when i was younger but my
- 19:52Speaker 4: sister just graduated like sixth grade i was probably in
- 19:55Speaker 4: fourth grade so like i was trying to come up
- 19:56Speaker 4: with a game so we grabbed a basketball and like
- 19:58Speaker 4: an aluminum bat and we're like i will play basketball
- 20:02Speaker 4: so she pitched it i hit it the first time
- 20:04Speaker 4: you know it's like it's my guy i gotta grip
- 20:07Speaker 4: it tighter second time she fucking metal bat with a
- 20:09Speaker 4: rubber ball, dude.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I fucking swung it, ding, knocked myself out.
- 20:13Speaker 4: My parents actually, they were saying that, like the teachers
- 20:17Speaker 4: in my school were thinking that my parents were beating
- 20:19Speaker 4: me because I would come in like once a week
- 20:21Speaker 4: or two just like shiner, like concussion, dude. And I
- 20:25Speaker 4: had that little surfer cut. So I would try and
- 20:28Speaker 4: just cover the fucking tennis ball with that.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Waves are intense. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow, gnarly,
- 20:36Speaker 2: gnarly swell today, boys.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Bitcoin just hit an all-time high, which is pretty wild
- 20:43Speaker 1: considering that it was just trading at around $ 60, 000 last year.
- 20:49Speaker 1: When I need more Bitcoin, MoonPay is always the first
- 20:53Speaker 1: app that I open because it doesn't force you to
- 20:56Speaker 1: buy a whole coin and it's super easy to use.
- 20:59Speaker 1: MoonPay is actually one of the biggest partners on this show,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and I'm excited to share that I've made the decision
- 21:06Speaker 1: to accept my compensation from them in Bitcoin instead of U.S.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Dollars.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm planning to hold and save that Bitcoin in my
- 21:15Speaker 1: MoonPay account. Indeed, the Bitcoin will sit in a digital
- 21:20Speaker 1: MoonPay wallet that nobody can access except for me.
- 21:24Speaker 2: The U.S.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Dollars continue to fluctuate in value, so by making this decision,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm diversifying my portfolio and hopefully earning more from our
- 21:33Speaker 1: partnership than I would have otherwise.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Remember, while Moonpay.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Makes buying crypto straightforward, it's essential to do your own
- 21:41Speaker 1: research and understand the risks involved. Crypto trading can be
- 21:45Speaker 1: volatile and you could lose your investment. Moonpay is a
- 21:48Speaker 1: tool to facilitate your transactions, not a source of financial advice.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Trade responsibly. It's the best time of the year in sports.
- 21:58Speaker 1: NFL teams are clawing for playoff spots. The college football
- 22:02Speaker 1: playoff is around the corner. The NHL is throwing punches
- 22:05Speaker 1: on the ice and the NBA is back. It's a
- 22:10Speaker 1: lot to keep up with unless you've got the Bleacher

- 24:23Speaker 1: big thanks to Blue Chew for sponsoring the podcast.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Dude i can't believe uh yeah you mentioned i forgot
- 24:31Speaker 2: that you guys lost your you lost your home was
- 24:33Speaker 2: that yeah we um you know and i was filming
- 24:37Speaker 2: a movie in london and our we had a house
- 24:40Speaker 2: in studio city um and that house got robbed while
- 24:43Speaker 2: i was filming and so i thought i was just
- 24:45Speaker 2: gonna like i thought we'd go back after filming kind
- 24:48Speaker 2: of bump up security measures refortifying kelly's like no she's
- 24:51Speaker 2: like they you know they go through all of her
- 24:53Speaker 2: stuff and it is, it's a very violating feeling. So
- 24:56Speaker 2: then we bought that Palisades house.
- 24:58Speaker 4: And honestly, I would say it was the first kind
- 25:01Speaker 4: of neighborhood in LA where my wife, um, a felt
- 25:05Speaker 4: really safe. And then B would be like excited to,
- 25:08Speaker 4: to go back to LA whenever we'd be filming. I
- 25:10Speaker 4: never heard her say that in like the 12 years
- 25:12Speaker 4: we'd been dating. And, um, yeah, we like worked with
- 25:15Speaker 4: some designers. My wife like really designed so much of it.
- 25:19Speaker 4: And I had this feeling last night and cause we're
- 25:22Speaker 4: in this rental, you know, obviously we've, we've been in
- 25:24Speaker 4: rentals and, um, I was just laying in bed. I
- 25:26Speaker 4: was like, man, this, you know, we're in a, the
- 25:30Speaker 4: place we're in is, you know, it's a nice place.
- 25:32Speaker 4: We don't have to worry about the, you know, the water,
- 25:35Speaker 4: the air, the, you know, it's, it's really well done,
- 25:37Speaker 4: but at the same time, it just, it fucks with
- 25:40Speaker 4: your mind when you can't look around at any point
- 25:42Speaker 4: and see anything that reminds you of your life. You know,
- 25:45Speaker 4: everything is just, there's no attachment to, to anything.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Um, Oh, that's literally my fucking house. I don't know
- 25:54Speaker 2: why we brought that up. That's my Bronco, though. That
- 25:57Speaker 2: was my 75 fucking Bronco. No way, really? So beautiful, dude.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I had that thing for like eight years. Why would
- 26:05Speaker 2: we bring this? No, honestly, to be fair, the first.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Picture I saw, Kelly and I saw from our fucking house,
- 26:15Speaker 4: to know that it was actually burnt down was from TMZ.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah. They sent a drone in there.
- 26:22Speaker 4: And also they just, because they started, the first homes
- 26:25Speaker 4: they're talking about are like celebrity homes. And that's not
- 26:28Speaker 4: fair because the community of the Palisades, all of our
- 26:31Speaker 4: neighbors in that community, honestly, were people that had lived
- 26:34Speaker 4: there for like 30, 40 years. It was, you know,
- 26:38Speaker 4: it was people that had like, you know, raised their
- 26:40Speaker 4: kids there, were having their grandkids there. And a lot
- 26:42Speaker 4: of those people, you know, their home burns down at
- 26:44Speaker 4: like 70 years old. It's like, we don't have time
- 26:46Speaker 4: to rebuild. Um, but you know, there was like a
- 26:50Speaker 4: little elementary school across the street and they had these
- 26:52Speaker 4: dudes on bikes with, you know, like wooden boxes behind them.
- 26:55Speaker 4: They would, you know, ride the kids home from school.
- 26:56Speaker 4: It really was like, like that movie Pleasantville.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I don't know. It was just such a well done. Um, yeah. Community.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It's a nice place.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I've gone to a lot of like, yeah. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: We used to get a lot of recovery meetings up
- 27:11Speaker 1: there and it was just like, it'd be the most
- 27:12Speaker 1: nicest thing on Saturday.
- 27:13Speaker 2: We'd pull up and people would go to the church
- 27:15Speaker 2: on a Vita La Paz.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the road I lived on. I lived like
- 27:20Speaker 4: two blocks, maybe even one block from that church because
- 27:23Speaker 4: my buddy said he used to have meetings over there.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Dude, yeah, they had some of the best meetings in
- 27:26Speaker 1: the world were there, really. And it was just such
- 27:30Speaker 1: a special energy over there. If you go walk and
- 27:32Speaker 1: go over to that smoothie shop that's over there and
- 27:34Speaker 1: they got those acai bowls.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 2: And then they got the little restaurant right across the
- 27:38Speaker 2: street from it.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 2: That's right near that Starbucks in that big pink, like
- 27:42Speaker 2: that whole village.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Are you talking like the village and stuff? Yeah, no,
- 27:45Speaker 1: it's like there's that Starbucks on the corner. And there's
- 27:47Speaker 1: that little place that has breakfast like right around the
- 27:49Speaker 1: corner from it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, we'd go park at the
- 27:51Speaker 2: Gelson's and sit there and people would talk before the
- 27:53Speaker 2: A meetings and then we'd walk over to the meeting together. Oh, good.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But it was just a nice, it was like, yeah, man,
- 27:58Speaker 1: that place is, it's a great place. I'm sorry that
- 28:02Speaker 1: that happened, man. Were you guys able to go in
- 28:04Speaker 1: and get stuff out or what was that like?
- 28:05Speaker 4: No, I mean, so like when the fire started, like
- 28:09Speaker 4: we could see it start from, because we in that
- 28:12Speaker 4: area of Villa de la Paz, you kind of, you
- 28:13Speaker 4: have a good vantage point. You got some, some altitude
- 28:16Speaker 4: to you. So we could see like where the fire
- 28:18Speaker 4: started and I'll say it was probably about three and
- 28:21Speaker 4: a half, four miles, maybe at our 12 o'clock. And
- 28:24Speaker 4: the winds really weren't that bad at that point. It
- 28:27Speaker 4: was scary because we were seeing the fire, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 4: start to encroach on some homes. And so you're watching
- 28:32Speaker 4: a home, you know, with this fire going towards the home,
- 28:35Speaker 4: you're just feeling for that, that family or whoever's there
- 28:38Speaker 4: and then turn on the news. And because there's one
- 28:40Speaker 4: road out, I mean, it was already kind of like,
- 28:43Speaker 4: it got serious very fast. And, you know, people were
- 28:46Speaker 4: like abandoning their vehicles. You know, it's like women running
- 28:49Speaker 4: with babies. And this was it within like an hour
- 28:52Speaker 4: of this fire kind of starting. And so I was
- 28:55Speaker 4: taking care of my grandma at the time because my
- 28:56Speaker 4: grandpa had just passed away like around Christmas. So I
- 28:59Speaker 4: was in the process of moving her out with me.
- 29:01Speaker 4: And so, you know, she's got some meds and she's
- 29:03Speaker 4: slow moving. So I was like, hey, grandma, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 4: maybe no rush, but, you know, let's start getting your
- 29:08Speaker 4: meds together. And, uh, yeah, I mean, we grabbed, grabbed
- 29:13Speaker 4: a couple t-shirts. I got like two Grateful Dead shirts.
- 29:17Speaker 4: We thought we'd be in a hotel for like, you know,
- 29:19Speaker 4: a couple, couple nights. And, um, but no, I remember
- 29:23Speaker 4: at one point my brother-in-law calling my wife and he's like, uh,
- 29:27Speaker 4: you know, make sure Miles grabs that, you know, Kobe jersey.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Or that Eagles thing. And I was like, what?
- 29:32Speaker 4: I couldn't come to terms with I just couldn't face
- 29:36Speaker 4: the reality. A, I did not think our neighbor was
- 29:38Speaker 4: going to burn down. There's like no brush. It would
- 29:40Speaker 4: have to jump six lanes, which it didn't. But I
- 29:42Speaker 4: just remember thinking like, where do you, you know, it's like,
- 29:46Speaker 4: where do you stop? You know, if I take this
- 29:48Speaker 4: off the wall, then there's just too much. Uh, I
- 29:52Speaker 4: think it's kind of, I think it was kind of overwhelming,
- 29:54Speaker 4: but we, it's funny. Cause I always told Kelly, like
- 29:57Speaker 4: if a natural disaster happens, something like that, you're going
- 30:00Speaker 4: to drive the truck, load everything in the back. I'm
- 30:02Speaker 4: going to take my Bronco. But when stuff, when it's
- 30:05Speaker 4: actually happening, you're like, no, obviously I have, you know,
- 30:09Speaker 4: make sure my wife and, you know, my grandma and,
- 30:12Speaker 4: you know, and our, our dog and stuff. So no,
- 30:14Speaker 4: we really didn't, we really didn't grab, I'm saying even
- 30:17Speaker 4: little shit. Like when you're at home, I imagine you
- 30:20Speaker 4: have like a favorite coffee mug. If you drink coffee
- 30:22Speaker 4: or just something that you have has some history to it.
- 30:24Speaker 4: It's like just none of that stuff.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Truly.
- 30:27Speaker 2: It's like everything I've acquired in life. Um, gone. Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 2: It's wild.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Was there feelings after that? Like, cause that's like, I mean,
- 30:37Speaker 1: that's such a, you know, it's traumatic. It's, is there
- 30:43Speaker 1: anything in a weird way? And I don't mean this.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Is there anything cathartic in some weird way about it?
- 30:49Speaker 1: Does that sound crazy? Or is that not a real thing?
- 30:51Speaker 2: No, I think. And maybe that's super. No, because there's
- 30:54Speaker 2: some people that have lost. I don't know if it
- 30:56Speaker 2: was their, their, you know, main home.
- 30:59Speaker 4: There are certainly people that have talked about that kind
- 31:01Speaker 4: of baptism of it. But I told, I told Kelly,
- 31:06Speaker 4: this was like a couple of days after I said, look,
- 31:08Speaker 4: I know at some point, you know, especially when we
- 31:10Speaker 4: have kids, if we're fortunate to have kids and we're
- 31:14Speaker 4: giving them life lessons, that's what it's all about. Parent,
- 31:17Speaker 4: you've been through the thing they're going through more or less.
- 31:21Speaker 4: And I said, you know, The fact that we'll be
- 31:22Speaker 4: able to sit down with our kids and say, you know,
- 31:24Speaker 4: when your mother and I were, you know, your age
- 31:26Speaker 4: or this age, we lost everything and we figured it out.
- 31:30Speaker 4: And I know that as a couple, that really is
- 31:33Speaker 4: going to just make us stronger. We didn't have any
- 31:36Speaker 4: cracks before, but certainly like when you go through something
- 31:40Speaker 4: like this, you know, it bonds you in such a,
- 31:44Speaker 4: in such a way. And then she told me, stop
- 31:46Speaker 4: bright siding me. I said, what the fuck is bright siding?
- 31:49Speaker 4: She goes, it's this term I'm learning on Instagram. I'm like, It's,
- 31:51Speaker 4: or TikTok. She's like, bright siding is when you're telling
- 31:55Speaker 4: somebody this thing, no matter what it is, something traumatic,
- 31:57Speaker 4: and they're like, well, look on the bright side, you know,
- 31:59Speaker 4: you have your health. And it's like, it kind of
- 32:01Speaker 4: invalidates the thing they're going through. But I know what
- 32:05Speaker 4: you're talking, I know, for me, I guess I feel
- 32:07Speaker 4: that more like when I move, if I ever move,
- 32:10Speaker 4: and you go through everything you own, you're like, oh
- 32:11Speaker 4: my God, I don't care about half this shit.
- 32:14Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking of more, just like spring cleaning.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, that's a horrible comparison. Yeah.
- 32:19Speaker 2: But yeah, no, but it's, it's valid.
- 32:21Speaker 4: I had a, I had a, uh, this director I
- 32:23Speaker 4: worked with his house burned down and he, he felt
- 32:25Speaker 4: like it was, um, and we know, right.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You shouldn't have attachment to things, right.
- 32:30Speaker 4: That, that doesn't really, really fill you up as much
- 32:33Speaker 4: as relationships do and this and that. But, um, the
- 32:37Speaker 4: things I'm talking about, they weren't, even though they're considered material, it.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Was just, yeah, that's true. And that's the other field
- 32:42Speaker 2: of just like not having a, whatever home means to you,
- 32:45Speaker 2: like a place where you go back, it's yours.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Like we've been getting kicked out of rentals. Like, they
- 32:49Speaker 4: tell you we have it for three months. They're like,
- 32:51Speaker 4: I know somebody else coming in. So that, that just
- 32:53Speaker 4: kind of thing.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Damn. But yeah, man, yeah, it's all good. Well, thanks
- 32:57Speaker 2: for entertaining some of those questions.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't, and maybe you've talked about that ad nauseum, man.
- 33:01Speaker 1: And yeah, and I'm sorry if you have, I just didn't, uh,
- 33:04Speaker 1: I didn't really think about that.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Um, I watched your movie, dude.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 2: What'd you think? I watched it last night, man. I
- 33:11Speaker 2: thought it was really great.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I thought it was one of the things you talked
- 33:14Speaker 1: about a few minutes ago made me kind of even
- 33:16Speaker 1: think about it. It was like, um, when you look
- 33:19Speaker 1: around your rental place that you're at now, that there's
- 33:22Speaker 1: not even things that are your, like, there's not pieces
- 33:25Speaker 1: of you that are spaces or memories or you can
- 33:28Speaker 1: walk past something and think like, oh, Kelly and I
- 33:30Speaker 1: were there. That's, you know, one of our first vacations
- 33:33Speaker 1: or that's where we got a dog or different things
- 33:35Speaker 1: like that, right? And it kind of reminded me of
- 33:39Speaker 1: just some of the, like the archives that, because the
- 33:43Speaker 1: movie's called Eternity. And it's basically, can you just give
- 33:47Speaker 1: me a brief summation of what it's like? Cause you'll
- 33:48Speaker 1: do a better job.
- 33:49Speaker 4: So when you die, uh, they, you get put with
- 33:52Speaker 4: somebody and, and then you, you know, you take a
- 33:54Speaker 4: train and then you get kind of deposited, deposited in
- 33:57Speaker 4: this like grand central station meets like world's fair kind
- 34:00Speaker 4: of place. You get an afterlife coordinator and then they,
- 34:03Speaker 4: the rules are you, you know, you get to live eternally,
- 34:06Speaker 4: you pick an eternity, but once you pick, you're in
- 34:09Speaker 4: that for, you know, forever. And so the eternities have
- 34:12Speaker 4: different themes. There's like capitalism world or, Like Smoking World. Yeah,
- 34:16Speaker 4: Marilyn Manson World. Yeah, Marilyn– yeah, Manson World.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Chocolate World.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Yeah, you can get down with whatever. Somebody was like,
- 34:24Speaker 4: I want an eternity where it's like Miami Beach spaghetti
- 34:27Speaker 4: and cocaine.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I was like, well, that's Miami. That's like– I think
- 34:31Speaker 2: you just– you can actually go there now. Yeah, that's
- 34:35Speaker 2: a night at Carbone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Carbone is so good.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Carbone is good, dude. Oh my god. Yeah. I thought
- 34:43Speaker 2: it was just beautifully shot. I just thought it was really,
- 34:45Speaker 2: just a really original script. You know what I mean?
- 34:48Speaker 2: It's like, it's so original.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Um, and it makes you think about like, you know,
- 34:52Speaker 1: if I do pass away, it gives me, it gave
- 34:53Speaker 1: me like.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Well, you will pass away. Oh yeah. Biohacking is crazy, right?
- 35:01Speaker 2: A lot of haters. A lot of haters in here.
- 35:04Speaker 2: If I do pass away, well, yeah, debatable. Yeah.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But it was great because your, uh, your character's wife, um,
- 35:12Speaker 1: all Elizabeth Olsen, Elizabeth Olsen, right? She, uh, passes away
- 35:17Speaker 1: and then she has to choose between her first love.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:20Speaker 4: This dude who's been waiting, he, he passed away in
- 35:22Speaker 4: the Korean war. He's been waiting like 60 something years
- 35:24Speaker 4: for her.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And you who are at the track, kind of like
- 35:27Speaker 1: at the grand central station, you guys were both kind
- 35:29Speaker 1: of waiting for her in a way.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Well, I didn't know he was, I didn't know he
- 35:33Speaker 2: was still waiting for her. Uh, are we giving away
- 35:35Speaker 2: too much of you? No, that's, that's in, I think
- 35:38Speaker 2: that's like in the trailer.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:40Speaker 2: It's all like in the first 10 minutes. Yeah.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Um, But it's kind of fascinating because then she shows up,
- 35:44Speaker 1: and now you two are kind of vying for her affections.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Yeah. And then who does she stay with?
- 35:48Speaker 1: Does she stay with this first love that she lost
- 35:51Speaker 1: and didn't get to have a life with, or does
- 35:52Speaker 1: she stay with this love that she already got to
- 35:55Speaker 1: have a life with?
- 35:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 4: And it's just– And there was like– some people were
- 35:59Speaker 4: telling me– it's like, oh, man, that's my nightmare. People
- 36:05Speaker 4: that have been– had– you know, been widowed and moved
- 36:08Speaker 4: on this and that, but it, but look, I think it,
- 36:10Speaker 4: but it does, it really makes you think about, um, yeah,
- 36:15Speaker 4: your own life and what's beyond and, you know, family
- 36:20Speaker 4: and I don't know.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Well, and how long love lives.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:23Speaker 2: I think that was part of it.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Like I remember when I've done, and there's a little
- 36:27Speaker 1: bit of a weird, uh, sidebar, but like when I've
- 36:30Speaker 1: done like, uh, DMT, It's like the only feeling that
- 36:34Speaker 1: you're left with is that the only important feeling, as
- 36:38Speaker 1: it feels like you're leaving the existence, is that love
- 36:41Speaker 1: was the most important thing and that everything else was
- 36:43Speaker 1: just a complete fool's errand.
- 36:46Speaker 4: And also that, well, because what you're talking about, but
- 36:53Speaker 4: you get this feeling that your consciousness, which is who
- 36:57Speaker 4: we are, is really, you know, this really is just
- 37:01Speaker 4: kind of this um, vessel, this physical form, but it is,
- 37:06Speaker 4: but who you are exists when you ever, you've been
- 37:09Speaker 4: in a situation where you feel like you've left, uh,
- 37:12Speaker 4: your body. Um, but you still, you know, think like yourself,
- 37:17Speaker 4: you still feel like yourself and that, that kind of
- 37:19Speaker 4: remains intact.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Um, yeah, that's a good, and then we're not saying that,
- 37:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about, but we're just saying that,
- 37:27Speaker 1: that yes, the consciousness of who we are, still exists
- 37:32Speaker 1: outside of our vessels that's what certain experiences have made
- 37:34Speaker 1: me feel like yeah and that that consciousness is still
- 37:37Speaker 1: able to to evaluate that love is so important yeah
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's one thing that i thought no but also i
- 37:44Speaker 1: thought about that too i'm like i think the most
- 37:46Speaker 1: important thing in life for me really is you know
- 37:50Speaker 1: it's like relationships you know to me that's the thing
- 37:54Speaker 1: when i'm i imagine when i'm sitting there on my
- 37:56Speaker 1: deathbed if i'm lucky enough to.
- 38:00Speaker 2: If you die. Yeah, if I die. Because we have
- 38:03Speaker 2: a new package for you. Right, sure. I can't wait.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Give me that longevity, you know, whatever it is. We
- 38:09Speaker 2: got a new peptide for you. Perfect, dude. You know,
- 38:14Speaker 2: Kelly will show me like one thing. Somebody talk about
- 38:16Speaker 2: some product. I'm like, yeah, sure. Sounds good. Was it
- 38:18Speaker 2: bee pollen sperm? Like, yeah, if I can put it
- 38:20Speaker 2: in a smoothie, baby.
- 38:22Speaker 4: But no, but it's like relationships. Like to me, that's
- 38:24Speaker 4: what I'm thinking. I'm not going to be thinking about
- 38:25Speaker 4: all this, you know, that. that Bronco or that movie
- 38:28Speaker 4: or that I'm gonna be like, man, be thinking about,
- 38:30Speaker 4: you know, my wife, my, you know, my buddies, my,
- 38:32Speaker 4: you know, my family, my, um, my relationship with higher
- 38:37Speaker 4: being I have. And I think that's kind of the,
- 38:39Speaker 4: and that's what I get the most, um, like the
- 38:43Speaker 4: return from, um, what you put into relationships. That's what,
- 38:45Speaker 4: that's what you're going to get back. I just think that's,
- 38:48Speaker 4: that's always kind of led me on a good path
- 38:50Speaker 4: in life.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It's like, I know sometimes I feel like I've almost
- 38:55Speaker 1: spent too much time working one of the nice things,
- 38:57Speaker 1: like I recently kind of have gotten to take a
- 38:59Speaker 1: break from touring. Cause I'd been kind of touring pretty
- 39:01Speaker 1: heavily for like four or five years.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 1: And maybe really for probably 15 years. And, uh, and
- 39:09Speaker 1: so like, I've been able to like go to football
- 39:11Speaker 1: games and like maybe try to plan a date and
- 39:13Speaker 1: go on a date, you know, not be like, try
- 39:16Speaker 1: to pick up the pieces all the time and stuff
- 39:18Speaker 1: like that. And like, yeah, just things like that to
- 39:20Speaker 1: be able to see a friend like a couple of
- 39:22Speaker 1: weeks in a row or know that you're going to
- 39:24Speaker 1: be able to keep the relationship going, stuff like that is,
- 39:26Speaker 1: yeah and when it's not.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Just sandwiched in between it's like okay I have one
- 39:31Speaker 4: and a half days you know I have this thing
- 39:32Speaker 4: on Friday you know this thing on Monday whatever yeah
- 39:35Speaker 4: that's never enjoyable it doesn't feel real it doesn't feel
- 39:38Speaker 4: like there's any space you need to have some time
- 39:40Speaker 4: to yourself and I like even with filming man I've
- 39:42Speaker 4: kind of always been pretty good obviously if it's I
- 39:46Speaker 4: have no problem going like back to back to back
- 39:48Speaker 4: if it's the right thing but other than that For me,
- 39:50Speaker 4: it's got to be really special because you just– you
- 39:52Speaker 4: take– like.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I enjoy my Miles life.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I enjoy my life with my friends and my family
- 39:57Speaker 4: and Kelly and this and that. So to have the
- 40:01Speaker 4: time to, like you said, kind of nourish those relationships
- 40:04Speaker 4: is so important.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And just figure out who– I don't know. Get
- 40:08Speaker 2: back to what you like. Yeah, man.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was interesting how in the movie– oh,
- 40:16Speaker 1: who is the– So you get to like the grand
- 40:18Speaker 1: central station, right? Like the sort of this purgatory type
- 40:21Speaker 1: of place. Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 2: And they connect you with an afterlife coordinator.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 1: And then the funny thing is, yeah, there's like, it's
- 40:27Speaker 1: almost like this mall of like afterlifes. They're trying to
- 40:29Speaker 1: sell you or shop to you. It's like, Oh, here's one.
- 40:32Speaker 1: It's just a bed, bath and beyond forever. And you're
- 40:34Speaker 1: just in a place. You're in a candle and lotion
- 40:36Speaker 1: shop forever.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Or here's one.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It's at the beach or at the beach forever or
- 40:40Speaker 1: skiing forever. And it's like all the, it's like, uh, uh,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you know, um, Willie Nelson world.
- 40:46Speaker 2: And it's just like everybody there looks like Willie Nelson
- 40:49Speaker 2: and that's all they do. There's some people that love,
- 40:52Speaker 2: you know, you guys love the same shit, right? So
- 40:54Speaker 2: you can, yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 1: And you get to go there and you're going to
- 40:56Speaker 1: meet other people that love Willie Nelson and it's going
- 40:58Speaker 1: to be Willie Nelson forever.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Um, but they give you like this afterlife coordinator, like
- 41:03Speaker 1: you said, uh, and those characters were great in yours, man.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Divine joy, Randolph, who won the supporting actress Oscar for
- 41:11Speaker 2: the holdovers. Um, and then John early, who is a,
- 41:16Speaker 2: I'm sure some people watching this, like know who John is. He's,
- 41:18Speaker 2: he's got some really incredible standup specials. Bring him up.
- 41:21Speaker 2: I wasn't, I don't know if I was familiar with
- 41:23Speaker 2: him or a couple of shows to John's. He's impressive, man, bro.
- 41:28Speaker 2: They were killing me, dude. Some of the looks he
- 41:30Speaker 2: was giving. Yeah, I know he's pretty sassy in this movie,
- 41:35Speaker 2: which I love. It was hilarious. Yeah. I got to
- 41:38Speaker 2: touch base with this guy. Yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I got to watch more of his stuff. Um, But yeah, dude,
- 41:44Speaker 1: that was great. And then how, yeah, it was just like, man,
- 41:48Speaker 1: she'd had this love that had died in the war,
- 41:51Speaker 1: you know? And it was like, oh, and she'd waited
- 41:54Speaker 1: and then she'd met you. And yeah, it was just like,
- 41:59Speaker 1: and then like there was this moment where you realized that, yeah,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't want to give any, I don't want to
- 42:03Speaker 1: give any more away. But it was also harrowing to
- 42:06Speaker 1: think of like how many, how many widows were, how
- 42:09Speaker 1: many women were widowed by war, you know?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, right. Like how often that happened. Pull that up, actually.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Can you see how many women were widowed by– Yeah,
- 42:18Speaker 2: I mean I forget what they said.
- 42:19Speaker 4: The average lifespan was for– when they stormed Normandy, but
- 42:24Speaker 4: it was– they were getting mowed down.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Wow. It says for World War I alone, approximately three
- 42:29Speaker 2: to four million women were widowed due to the roughly 9.7
- 42:32Speaker 2: million military deaths.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Wow.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Wow.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Other conflicts show varied figures.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Yeah, because also women were married– Uh, pretty young. Um,
- 42:44Speaker 4: do you like touring?
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:47Speaker 2: You almost get addicted to it though in some ways.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Because it's, it's a great time. It's fun. People, you
- 42:54Speaker 2: want to go see people that want to pay attention,
- 42:56Speaker 2: you know?
- 42:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 1: And I liked, I would start going to smaller markets.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Like we did like 250 something markets over the past
- 43:02Speaker 1: four years with this tour. Um, and it was, uh, yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 1: it's great. But then you start– it's like it starts
- 43:12Speaker 1: to become a lot. Like it just was a lot.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I imagine you're like– yeah, of course you want to–
- 43:21Speaker 2: that's– You want to see everybody. You want to make
- 43:23Speaker 2: everybody happy.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's like whenever I go somewhere and if
- 43:27Speaker 4: there's an event and you can tell, okay, these are
- 43:30Speaker 4: actually fans. These aren't just scalpers or dudes trying to
- 43:33Speaker 4: sell your autograph. It's like, yeah, of course I make
- 43:35Speaker 4: movies for people to– to like to see them and
- 43:37Speaker 4: so the fans are a product of that it's like
- 43:39Speaker 4: yeah I love I love doing that stuff you just
- 43:42Speaker 4: feel like yeah of course we're in the entertainment industry
- 43:45Speaker 4: yeah you know what I mean it doesn't exist in
- 43:46Speaker 4: a vacuum like you want to bring a smile to
- 43:47Speaker 4: somebody's face especially those smaller markets that don't get the
- 43:50Speaker 4: kind of the acts that you know the other spots
- 43:53Speaker 4: do yeah we've.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Had so much fun I mean from places like Casper
- 43:56Speaker 1: Wyoming to Beaumont to Toledo I mean we've done like
- 43:59Speaker 1: so many markets and then we're like oh well these
- 44:00Speaker 1: other places we can go to and then we'll do
- 44:02Speaker 1: like a lot of just meeting groups after the show
- 44:04Speaker 1: we'll just go pop out and meet people so yeah
- 44:06Speaker 1: you know, you'll be sitting out there just hugging people
- 44:08Speaker 1: and like checking in on folks and like getting a
- 44:10Speaker 1: temperature of humanity and stuff like that. And it feels good.
- 44:13Speaker 1: It almost feels in a little way, like you live
- 44:14Speaker 1: everywhere kind of in some ways. Um, cause you realize
- 44:17Speaker 1: that there's just so many great people, you know, who
- 44:19Speaker 1: are like a lot of like, are all kind of
- 44:22Speaker 1: searching for some of the same things, you know? Um,
- 44:24Speaker 1: I think with our, with this podcast, it's sometimes it's
- 44:27Speaker 1: a bit more than just kind of like jokes and information.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Sometimes it's like, just like kind of creating a connection,
- 44:33Speaker 1: you know? Um, Yeah, show me that chart again, man.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Thank you for asking, though, man.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, of course. The Civil War had 620,000 to 750,000
- 44:40Speaker 2: military deaths, high widowhood. Let me see.
- 44:41Speaker 1: World War I estimated around 325,000 widows. World War II,
- 44:42Speaker 1: around 405,000 widows. Korean War, and that was the war
- 44:46Speaker 1: that your co-actor died in, in this movie.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yes, yes. Around 36,000 widows.
- 45:02Speaker 1: But yeah, when you just think of all those women
- 45:04Speaker 1: and there was a moment where she said she went
- 45:06Speaker 1: and sat at the boat docks and was waiting for his,
- 45:09Speaker 1: for the boat he was on to come in. So
- 45:12Speaker 1: I think that was one thing that was neat about
- 45:14Speaker 1: eternity to me was like, there's this fun like thing
- 45:18Speaker 1: going on where you guys are like, you know, figuring
- 45:20Speaker 1: out these different world, like the afterlife and it's super entertaining.
- 45:24Speaker 1: But then there's also like, there was this sort of
- 45:26Speaker 1: like emotion, like kind of pretty emo emotional stuff going
- 45:29Speaker 1: on with like, yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 2: How do we look at love?
- 45:31Speaker 1: And like, if you've already gotten to live one love,
- 45:33Speaker 1: if you got to go back, would you choose a
- 45:35Speaker 1: different one?
- 45:35Speaker 2: And yeah, it was just, it was cool.
- 45:38Speaker 4: I mean, what I enjoyed about reading the script and
- 45:41Speaker 4: kind of when we performed it was that it does,
- 45:45Speaker 4: it never loses its kind of grounding and the stakes
- 45:49Speaker 4: and the sincerity of it. There's some really funny moments
- 45:53Speaker 4: and there's some kind of, you know, but nothing ever
- 45:57Speaker 4: becomes like slapstick. It's not a movie where we're just
- 45:59Speaker 4: trying to get in as many one-liners. as we can,
- 46:02Speaker 4: I think it's, it always kind of, um, it's just
- 46:05Speaker 4: a delicate balance between having that sincerity and the love.
- 46:09Speaker 2: And also I think, I do think it's really funny.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:12Speaker 4: It's like, it's just, and we had, after the, we
- 46:15Speaker 4: did the premiere in Toronto, man, we just had like
- 46:17Speaker 4: at the after party, you could just tell people were
- 46:19Speaker 4: kind of coupling off and just talking. It just makes
- 46:22Speaker 4: you think, I think it's a beautiful, a beautiful film.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Um, One of my favorite parts, too, is just right
- 46:28Speaker 1: in the beginning when they're driving in that car together, dude.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I could have watched those two people in that car.
- 46:33Speaker 2: That's the Northeast, dude.
- 46:35Speaker 4: But also, it's just couples that have been around for
- 46:36Speaker 4: that long, just this natural just kind of, you're not
- 46:39Speaker 4: going to offend me, and just bullshit, banter, bickering, complaining.
- 46:43Speaker 2: And they're both, neither one of them is saying, everything
- 46:46Speaker 2: they're doing is just kind of like making the other one,
- 46:49Speaker 2: like whatever they're saying, a problem. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I
- 46:52Speaker 2: think my wife and I secretly enjoy to like, kind
- 46:56Speaker 2: of fucking annoy each other. You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 2: That's probably part of love. Probably.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Like a little bit of annoyance, a little bickering. Um,
- 47:04Speaker 2: I didn't realize that, um, uh, Elizabeth Olsen.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I didn't realize that she was related to Mary Kate
- 47:11Speaker 2: and Ashley Olsen. Yeah. Yeah. I had no idea. I
- 47:13Speaker 2: know a pretty dynamic family. Yeah. Yeah. That's wild. Did
- 47:17Speaker 2: you get to meet them? Did they come by the set? Uh,
- 47:19Speaker 2: they did not. No, they did not. It's so crazy
- 47:22Speaker 2: because they had a childhood stardom. I was, I had
- 47:24Speaker 2: to be so odd. Yeah.
- 47:26Speaker 4: I know it tends to, I mean, and they've become
- 47:29Speaker 4: very successful, you know, in the design side of it.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. I think it's, it's, it's tough. Oh, um,
- 47:36Speaker 2: it'd be a nightmare. Do you feel like it affected you?
- 47:39Speaker 2: I was at what?
- 47:40Speaker 1: Did you feel like you started to become popular at
- 47:43Speaker 1: a pretty young age? Do you feel like you were
- 47:45Speaker 1: kind of baked into you already? Or do you feel
- 47:47Speaker 1: like if it had been earlier, like, do you have
- 47:49Speaker 1: any thoughts about that?
- 47:50Speaker 4: Like, I think, I think for me, things happened, uh,
- 47:54Speaker 4: kind of at the pace that, that lined up with
- 47:57Speaker 4: my own kind of maturity or life experiences. Cause you know,
- 48:02Speaker 4: it's like I went to, went to college for four
- 48:04Speaker 4: years and, and trained there. And so, yeah, I was
- 48:10Speaker 4: like 22 when I did my first movie, maybe like 20,
- 48:13Speaker 4: maybe I was like 24, 25 when Footloose came out
- 48:18Speaker 4: and the Project X and that kind of thing. And
- 48:20Speaker 4: I was doing some college comedy type stuff. So that
- 48:22Speaker 4: was all good.
- 48:23Speaker 2: I think had I gotten, um, you know, really famous
- 48:26Speaker 2: when I was like 17. Um, I mean, I was
- 48:29Speaker 2: raised really well. I, you know, I never had to
- 48:31Speaker 2: worry about my parents or somebody taking money from me,
- 48:35Speaker 2: you know, which happens a lot.
- 48:36Speaker 4: It's really unfortunate. Um, that's, that's really a shame to
- 48:40Speaker 4: lose trust. Um, that young from loved one. I think
- 48:44Speaker 4: that's going to fuck you up for the rest of
- 48:45Speaker 4: your life.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Um, truly. Oh, that's a good point.
- 48:48Speaker 4: But yeah, for me it was pretty, it was like
- 48:49Speaker 4: honestly pretty, pretty organic. I never, I felt like I
- 48:53Speaker 4: was able to handle. And also when I moved out
- 48:55Speaker 4: to L.A., a bunch of my boys from high school
- 48:58Speaker 4: all moved out. So I didn't need anything from L.A.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I didn't come to L.A. to find myself. I'm like, no,
- 49:04Speaker 2: I know who I am. Me and my buddies get
- 49:06Speaker 2: a house or whatever in the valley. Yeah, I always
- 49:09Speaker 2: had familiar faces around me. Oh, that's so nice. Even
- 49:13Speaker 2: my agent.
- 49:13Speaker 4: I met her on my first movie. She's been the
- 49:16Speaker 4: same ever since. Like that shit to me hasn't, hasn't changed.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Um, you know, I think I was lucky in that
- 49:23Speaker 2: sense that a bunch of my boys were like, yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 2: we'll go. Dang. Yeah. That's dope. Dude, were they acting too?
- 49:30Speaker 4: Uh, the one, the one moved out, we played a
- 49:33Speaker 4: band together in high school. I think he was trying
- 49:35Speaker 4: to do something maybe music wise.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Uh, but no.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:40Speaker 2: It's a tough, getting L.A. is hectic. What was y'all's
- 49:43Speaker 2: band name in high school? We were the Mutes because
- 49:47Speaker 2: we played the, we all started because we played like
- 49:49Speaker 2: the homecoming parade. And then the electric, the power went
- 49:52Speaker 2: out for our generators. So the amps, there was no sound.
- 49:56Speaker 4: So that's enough of a reason to, you know, that's
- 50:00Speaker 4: a band name right there. I think we actually were
- 50:02Speaker 4: playing for SWAT, like on the SWAT float, which was a.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Really? Like the SWAT team? No, like students working against tobacco. Yeah.
- 50:12Speaker 2: You don't remember SWAT? It was like D.A.R.E. and like SWAT. No, dude. Bro,
- 50:17Speaker 2: we had a D.A.R.E. officer named Mr. Bob and R.I.P.
- 50:21Speaker 2: He passed away. Everybody knew who he was.
- 50:23Speaker 1: But he would like pull up and he was a
- 50:27Speaker 1: humongous man. And this was back when if a man
- 50:30Speaker 1: was very big hit.
- 50:31Speaker 2: What does D.A.R.E. stand for again? Drug Abuse Resistance Education.
- 50:34Speaker 4: Because I can only just, I instantly just think of.
- 50:37Speaker 4: whatever the, the ones that people would make up their own.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Oh, the mean ones. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah. What are
- 50:43Speaker 2: some of the meme dead ones? I don't, I don't
- 50:45Speaker 2: even know if I know any of them. No, I
- 50:46Speaker 2: just remember in high school, people would say, Oh, drugs
- 50:47Speaker 2: are really expensive. You know, or yeah. Well, especially in Florida,
- 50:53Speaker 2: if you got some good drugs, But, dude, SWATs? So
- 50:57Speaker 2: what happened with the officer? It was students working against tobacco? Yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 2: What do you mean working against tobacco? Yeah, there it is, dude.
- 51:06Speaker 2: SWAT was big. SWAT was big time. I'm surprised. Bro,
- 51:09Speaker 2: that sketch on the right. Zoom in. That sketch on
- 51:12Speaker 2: the right, dude. What the fuck is he doing there? Yeah, see? Inventors, laboratory,
- 51:18Speaker 2: big tobacco. Like, big tobacco's going down. Let's go. I
- 51:22Speaker 2: don't even know what the fuck... Yeah, I mean, they
- 51:26Speaker 2: would have meetings. Bro, that is sketch. I can't even
- 51:29Speaker 2: believe you guys. He was locked in with that shit? Yeah, well,
- 51:31Speaker 2: that's not my high school. So he was, yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 4: But our float probably looks, you just needed some dude
- 51:38Speaker 4: with a flatbed and then you just throw some streamers
- 51:41Speaker 4: on it.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Bro, I've never heard that in my life. That's funny.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I've never heard of it. Yeah, okay. I do remember. Yeah,
- 51:47Speaker 2: try it on perplexity. See what they got. Pull up
- 51:49Speaker 2: some of the dare memes. So what did this, what
- 51:51Speaker 2: did Officer Bob, what was his, What was his big moment? Yeah, see,
- 51:54Speaker 2: drugs are really exciting. Don't actually recover ever. Whoa, Jesus.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Drop everything and run. Yeah, but it was a lot
- 52:08Speaker 2: of people screaming, I won't do drugs or whatever.
- 52:12Speaker 1: But Officer Bob was huge, dude. And one year he
- 52:15Speaker 1: pulled up and he could not get it. He couldn't
- 52:17Speaker 1: even get out of his car, right? So he had
- 52:18Speaker 1: to do the talk from a megaphone from his vehicle.
- 52:21Speaker 1: And people were like, what? And it just sounded like
- 52:24Speaker 1: so garbled and stuff. Oh, and then they would hide
- 52:27Speaker 1: a sack of weed in some kid's bag or whatever
- 52:30Speaker 1: in the audience. And a dog would just go.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Like a real bag of weed? Yes. Or something that
- 52:36Speaker 2: the dog could smell. So I'm guessing it was. So just, okay.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Because it was like, we put weed on one of
- 52:41Speaker 2: the kids and all the kids would be like, you know.
- 52:44Speaker 2: And then they just stick a fucking German shepherd on
- 52:46Speaker 2: the kid.
- 52:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Jesus, dude. Yeah, pretty awesome.
- 52:49Speaker 4: We, dude, there was some weird, there was some weird
- 52:53Speaker 4: stuff in my high school too, man. And every teacher's coach,
- 52:58Speaker 4: every teacher in our high school was coached because they
- 53:01Speaker 4: used to coach a basketball team or they coached, I
- 53:03Speaker 4: remember one dude, he coached the, it was like the
- 53:05Speaker 4: debate team or something and he was still coach.
- 53:09Speaker 1: Oh, dude, yeah, they would just pick like whoever the
- 53:11Speaker 1: lesbian teacher was at our school was also had to
- 53:13Speaker 1: be the drama teacher for some reason, like.
- 53:16Speaker 2: That was ours for a minute.
- 53:17Speaker 4: Our, softball coach lesbian ended up a couple years after
- 53:21Speaker 4: i graduated um she was having a relationship with like
- 53:26Speaker 4: a sophomore oh yeah um yeah.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Yeah it's unfortunate and that's florida that's that's i don't
- 53:33Speaker 1: know what that is but that's a lot of the
- 53:34Speaker 1: times it is florida it's florida and that's softball yeah
- 53:37Speaker 1: i don't know if it is or not but but
- 53:42Speaker 1: yeah i mean there's a lot of inner have you
- 53:43Speaker 1: ever been down.
- 53:44Speaker 2: To key west though Key West is like my happy place.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Is it, dude? Yeah, just killer live.
- 53:49Speaker 4: Some of the best, I think, best live music in
- 53:50Speaker 4: countries like there. Austin, obviously, like in Nashville. Yeah, Austin
- 53:56Speaker 4: or Key West, man, just killer music. You just either
- 54:00Speaker 4: you're walking around the whole time or, you know, if
- 54:04Speaker 4: we go to a big group, everyone's just on these
- 54:05Speaker 4: like little scooters. Every bar looks like it just went.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Through a hurricane. Yeah. I got to go down there.
- 54:10Speaker 2: It's so fun, dude. I always hear Nick Swartzen loves
- 54:14Speaker 2: it down there. Oh, yeah.
- 54:16Speaker 4: He lived down there for, he was just supposed to
- 54:18Speaker 4: go for like a couple of weeks or something, stayed
- 54:20Speaker 4: at this hotel for something for like months.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he spent like almost a million. Spent a shit
- 54:23Speaker 2: ton of money. I think like almost, just under.
- 54:25Speaker 1: A million bucks.
- 54:26Speaker 2: That's hard in Key West too.
- 54:27Speaker 4: Because you will get that moisture still for like a
- 54:29Speaker 4: quarter during happy hour.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Oh, dude.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I don't know how you fucking spent a million bucks actually.
- 54:35Speaker 4: He needs to write a book. How to spend a
- 54:37Speaker 4: million bucks. How to spend a million bucks in Key West.
- 54:40Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Dude, he's a fucking John Daly of Key West, dude.
- 54:47Speaker 2: What was I going to fucking talk about? Oh, dude.
- 54:52Speaker 2: I feel like somebody's been blowing weed smoking here right now.
- 54:58Speaker 2: John Daly, baby.
- 54:59Speaker 4: But SWAT. Students working against tobacco, too.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Yes. Because if they're not doing it. That's true. Tobacco's
- 55:09Speaker 2: just running rampant. It's like an Agatha Christie novel. They're
- 55:14Speaker 2: still rocking and rolling.
- 55:16Speaker 1: SWAT is Florida's statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate,
- 55:20Speaker 1: and equip.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Oh, it's specifically a Florida thing. To revolt against and
- 55:25Speaker 2: de-glamorize tobacco.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Yep.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 55:27Speaker 5: Wow, dude.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Well, that makes– I thought it was like a national program. Yeah,
- 55:32Speaker 4: I'd never– But I guess we never did go.
- 55:33Speaker 2: On field trips. Yeah, this is it.
- 55:35Speaker 1: No, this was a– This was an experimental program down
- 55:40Speaker 1: there in the fucking south.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Dude, there's 400– there's 4,300– 80% of high schoolers vape now. Oh, yeah.
- 55:50Speaker 1: There's 4,300 active youth though in the SWAT youth in
- 55:54Speaker 1: the state of Florida. And so shout out to them.
- 55:58Speaker 1: We had this thing. So we had to build a
- 56:00Speaker 1: float one time. It was for the homecoming parade. And
- 56:02Speaker 1: my buddy Patrick. we had to make like this tree.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Ours was like the tree of life or something or whatever,
- 56:08Speaker 1: or keep growing or something like that. And my buddy Patrick,
- 56:12Speaker 1: he was gonna, um, we're like, dude, Patrick, you stay
- 56:16Speaker 1: in the tree, stay in the middle, light up a
- 56:18Speaker 1: blunt in there and just blow smoke out of the, like,
- 56:22Speaker 1: if you blow enough smoke, some of it will just
- 56:24Speaker 1: keep a hole in the top of the tree. Some
- 56:26Speaker 1: of it will leak out. So we're pushing this down
- 56:27Speaker 1: the street and everybody will, uh, And nobody will know,
- 56:31Speaker 1: but you'll be in there at a super high. And
- 56:33Speaker 1: it's all like, you know.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Oh, you're saying, okay, so I was thinking like you
- 56:38Speaker 4: cut a hole out of the trunk. So it's like
- 56:40Speaker 4: his face and just like roasting blunts or something. But
- 56:44Speaker 4: you're saying just a little hole just so he could breathe.
- 56:46Speaker 4: But he was hot boxing this tree. Well, we forgot
- 56:48Speaker 4: about a breathing hole. We just thought put him in
- 56:50Speaker 4: the trunk of the tree. The trunk is fully built
- 56:53Speaker 4: around him. It's like this whole paper mache and wire
- 56:56Speaker 4: setup that's going to be on a float. And then
- 56:58Speaker 4: there's this big kind of bulb atop of him, almost
- 57:01Speaker 4: like a very small water tower would be kind of look.
- 57:05Speaker 4: And that is all adorned with green paper mache and everything.
- 57:07Speaker 2: That's a big tree.
- 57:08Speaker 1: And they'll put a hole on top of that. So, Patrick,
- 57:10Speaker 1: you just stand in there and keep smoking mugs. And
- 57:12Speaker 1: some of the smoke will leak out the top. It'll
- 57:14Speaker 1: be awesome.
- 57:15Speaker 2: We'll love it. And you'll be very fucking high. He
- 57:20Speaker 2: was so fucking high, dude. It's like a two hour break. Yeah.
- 57:23Speaker 2: And you couldn't see any of the smoke coming out.
- 57:25Speaker 2: It was just him like smoking countless black and mild
- 57:29Speaker 2: butts in this tree.
- 57:31Speaker 1: And then we got him there, dude. Oh, he didn't,
- 57:33Speaker 1: he couldn't go to school for one whole week. He
- 57:37Speaker 1: couldn't go to school for one whole week. Dude, his
- 57:38Speaker 1: mom had to stay home with him. He was, It
- 57:40Speaker 1: was the most high person that we'd ever seen in
- 57:42Speaker 1: our area.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah. It was fun. Dude couldn't go to school for
- 57:48Speaker 2: a week. And he hasn't been. He hasn't been the
- 57:51Speaker 2: same since. He hasn't.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 2: He hasn't been the same. Um, What was something like–
- 57:57Speaker 2: how long did you guys– how long did you guys– Patrick.
- 58:01Speaker 2: It's going to be awesome, dude. He's going to sit there.
- 58:03Speaker 2: He can smoke as much weed as he wants. And
- 58:07Speaker 2: sometimes you would– for the first like two blocks, you
- 58:09Speaker 2: could hear him yell, can y'all see the smoke? But
- 58:11Speaker 2: after that, there was no sound coming out of there.
- 58:14Speaker 2: It was almost like– He's probably dead. He probably died
- 58:17Speaker 2: for a second.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Well, he was almost like when those kids got trapped
- 58:20Speaker 1: in that mine after the second day they couldn't hear anything.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Did you know that over 85% of grass-fed beef sold
- 58:28Speaker 1: in America is actually imported?
- 58:31Speaker 2: Yep. It can be born, raised, and harvested overseas. Then
- 58:36Speaker 2: we bring it here.
- 58:36Speaker 1: It gets repackaged and gets a product of the USA label.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Yep. That's lying. It's dishonest. It's deceitful.

- 1:00:53Speaker 1: shooting a movie like that, at this point when you
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: go into a film, like are there things you want
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: to have on set that make your day easier and
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: then what's that shoot schedule like like on a day
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: to day basis for somebody kind of at your level
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: like do you still have to shoot every single scene
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: do they shoot around some stuff like what is it
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: what's the reality of that I.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Mean I think I've been fortunate enough to work on
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: some you know some great projects with some great actors
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: for the most part some really incredible directors that wanted
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: to be the first one there last one to leave
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: I just think it's important that, you know, kind of
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: right off the bat, people understand it's like, I'll be
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: here for anything you need. Because a lot of the time,
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: you know, if you got to maybe for the shot
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: or whatever, the eye lines tight, they want you to
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: work with just like a, you know, an X on
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: the thing. And some people are really good working that way.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: For me, I have to feel the connection with, you know,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: whoever I'm working with.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And so.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: For a bigger budget movie, sure, there's certain things that
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: you can kind of build into your contract to make
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: you as comfortable as possible.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, I don't really
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: give a shit. I'm pretty low maintenance.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: It's just like whatever we need to do to make
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: the best movie possible, I'm in.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I'm fully in.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Anything you need from me, I'm here. And also, I
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: think I approach film or just acting in general like–
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: I mean I grew up loving– I played sports. and
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: every sport, you know, it was like team sports always, um,
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: and playing music and that kind of, um, just being
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: a link in the chain. Like to me, that's, you know,
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: that's how it has to, to happen. So I enjoy,
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: I enjoy that camaraderie. I enjoy that teamwork as I've
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: moved up in my career. It's, I take it upon
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: myself to really like lead from the front. You know,
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: if I'm number one on the call sheet, like it's a, it's,
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: and if I'm producing the thing, like it's important to
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: me to know everybody's name and, um, you know, just
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: to feel like we're all, we're all kind of in
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: this thing together. I think when you're making a movie
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: and you're just kind of, you come out for your stuff,
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: go back to your trailer. Um, it's fine and everybody
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: works differently, but just for me, I need to really
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: feel that kind of camaraderie.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Part of the squad.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Part of the squad, man. Um, yeah, it is so
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: much fun.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Like I, even like being on a, being, cause the
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: fact that something gets created really out of nothing, right?
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Like there's words get created and put onto a page
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: and then, You want to make sure there's enough.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: I think writing is probably the hardest out of all
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: of the disciplines. I can't imagine just staring at a
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: blank page, you know, page one, scene one.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Um, you don't start thinking about, you don't do that stuff. What?
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Will you write a script or no? No, I'm, I,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I think I'm better at.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: When, um, you know, if writers already have an idea
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: or I can make, I feel like I'm good at
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: kind of collaborating, um, within the scene work and framework
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: of the script. And I'll certainly kind of help shape
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: things 100%. I think most actors through improvisation or through,
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: you know, talking with the writer absolutely inform, you know,
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: the material to a good amount. Some scripts you don't
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: really need to touch at all. But I think I'm
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: better at coming in. I don't have the first idea,
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: but I'm good at, okay, that's great.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And now this.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: But also I truly believe in like best idea wins.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: And so when you work with a director who's really,
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: collaborative and whose ego isn't so precious to where they can, um, take, um,
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: you know, inspiration from, you know, the people around them.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I think that's, that's really beautiful. I think you have
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: to feel collaborative.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I think the only.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Time I get upset when I'm filming is when I
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: feel like I'm working with like a dictator, um, and
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: that I don't feel comfortable to kind of speak, speak up, um, about,
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: I don't like closed minded people, closed minded people to me.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: That's when I, I really don't like authority figures. And
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: I thought getting into arts, that's a great path for
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: me because it's a collaborative medium in nature. But yeah,
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: I don't like when people lead with an iron fist
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: too much.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of crazy, dude. What did I see?
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of something else.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Oh, one part of the movie that was interesting to
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: me was there was a moment where she had chosen
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: an eternity, so she chooses one of the men But
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: then you can go look at archives. You can kind
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: of go back into a museum of your life.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a really interesting part of it.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just neat to see like how that–
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: it's just nice to see that if that– like if
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: we pass away, which you are a believer of, that
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: we get to go through almost like this zoo where
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: there's different exhibits of scenes from your life that meant something.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Yeah, your memories.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: I think people– I think that term like core memories
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: now is something that's kind of become in vogue.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: That was kind of fantastical, but that was one thing
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: that I thought was pretty dope about it. Oh, what
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: about a heist movie, dude? I just saw this heist.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: See if you can see. How about the Louvre? That's it, bro.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I mean, that wasn't a movie. That's the freaking news, dude.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: But that is wild. I mean, how the Louvre jewelry
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: heist unfolded.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: On the south side. The heist took a matter of minutes.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Here's how it happened.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: At 9.30 on Sunday, four individuals arrived on scooters in
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: a truck that had a mechanical ladder attached to the
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: back of it. Two of them ascended to the balcony
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: and used power tools to carve into the outside window.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: It's crazy, none of that... I mean, I have alarms
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: on my windows if something opens.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: They burst inside the Apollo Gallery that houses all of
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: the Louvre's special... royal jewels and use their saws to
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: break into two of those cases. In the meantime, we've
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: been told that the security guards really quickly got people
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: out of that room. This very wing of the Louvre
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: also contains the Mona Lisa. So it's the most sort
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: of precious things in France are there. But only 75
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: percent of the rooms have security cameras in them. Four
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: minutes later, they emerge with eight Precious items, including tiara, necklaces,
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: a beautiful brooch, and a crown.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: How'd they get away, Nick? They escaped out the window
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: and they took off on scooters that they had planted. Dude,
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: that seems like almost it would be... You just think
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: like more security. It's like what you and I would decide.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Two guys would decide like, hey, let's go get the lure.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Let's steal that crown.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Oh, my wife is upset. She doesn't have a crown
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: or whatever. Yeah. And then you're like, all right, let
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: me see how I can figure it out. Give us
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: nine minutes.
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: No, but also it's like, so what, then they sell this, like,
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: do they take it apart and sell it on the
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: black market? Do they just need to hold onto it until.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: You know, like after generation, generation, and then try and
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: get rid of it? And then say it just popped
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: up somewhere. Yeah, I don't know. It's true. How do
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: you get rid of something like that? Oh, it's almost
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: pretty magical that they were able to do it.
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: But the, I mean- No, I think it's– I mean
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: it certainly gives truth to these heist movies and stuff.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: You're like, ah, no way.
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: It's like, well, you know, yeah, you can do it
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: with just a little saw actually and a scooter. You
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: don't even need like switching identities and shit. It's like– no,
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: but that's what I was wondering. When the dude is
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: in there like banging his– like just like carving through
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: this glass, nobody is like.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Because obviously it was full of people. Hey, quiet down. Yeah. No,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: that's incredible to me. Hey, quiet down. I can't hear
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: the guided tour over here. Dude, that's crazy, bro. And
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: the Mona Lisa dude, Mo Lisa, that looks more like
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: a dude, I think. Yeah, that was stolen. It was stolen?
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: At one point. Not in this, but I think back
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: in the 70s or something, Mona Lisa was stolen. I
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: wonder if it was really stolen or somebody faked it.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Having.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: This is what I think happens sometimes. These museums fake
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: having stuff stolen to get people to come to the
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: museum or to add texture and story to their place.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Yes, the Mona Lisa. Yeah, 1911. Yes, the Mona Lisa
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: was stolen in 1911. From the Louvre.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: The Louvre needs the button-up, dude.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: The Louvre is like, what are you guys doing? No
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: wonder you keep getting robbed. It's like, obviously, not that hard.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Dude, it's a fucking halfway house for art, dude. They
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: got to figure this shit out, dude.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Got a ring camera, my guy. Like, what are you doing?
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: He disguised himself as a museum employee. hid overnight inside
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: the museum, that's the move, and took the painting the
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: next morning by removing it from its frame and concealing
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: it under his smock. The theft was not discovered until
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the following day, and the painting was hidden in Perugia's
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: apartment in Paris during that time.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: Dude, when I was growing up... Because you can't tell
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: anybody about it.
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, you can't even get...
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: You can't put it on display. I really don't know
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: how you move this stuff. And you get high and
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: definitely tell somebody. Oh, for sure. For sure.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: That's how– I mean that's kind of usually how they
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: end up catching criminals on that most wanted list. Like
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: they slip up. They tell somebody something.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Bro, I'm so high right now. Don't tell anybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: But I murdered a couple people. Oh, yeah. Great.
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: Yo.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Wild.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Remember that shit I told you last night? Like I
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: was just– man, we were fucked up.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: We were fucked up. We were fucked up. You said
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: you murdered someone. I said I did. Like– We were
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: both just joking. It was a goof.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: That was a goof. You've had so many interesting experiences.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: You got to work with Tom Cruise. Was that pretty fascinating?
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: Did you get to meet him before you got to
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: work with him?
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: And sorry if some of this seems like a little
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: bit petty, but I don't know anybody that ever met him. Oh, yeah. No, Tom.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, Tom's great. I flew.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: I had worked with that director before. I had done
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: two movies with him, I think, at that point. No,
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: I had done one movie with him at that point.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean, I flew, I had to audition
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: for it. I think they were down to like a
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: couple guys. Flew and did an audition with Tom. He's
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: very disarming. But for some reason, I didn't feel like
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: I was gonna be nervous around him. I have obviously
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: an immense amount of respect for the guy. But he's
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: such a consummate professional, and he's one of our great,
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: great actors. And his filmography, I think, if you attach
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: commercial and critical, I think this run that he's, you know,
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: went on multiple times through his career is going to
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: be very hard to, to touch. Um, but yeah, he's,
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: he really cares about the work and he labors over,
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: he labors over the script.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: I mean, we would go, we would meet, we would
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: have a meeting or we're filming.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: He's like, all right, we're going to meet, we're going
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: to talk about, you know, this scene that exists on
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: page like 50 or something, but you always start page one,
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: scene one, and you start from the very beginning and
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: And then three hours later, when we've had all these
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: side conversations about just different parts of the script, by
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: the time you get to the scene, you met, we're
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: there to meet about, it's like, well, it's time to go.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: We'll meet tomorrow, but nobody works harder. He knows everybody's name.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: He's first one in last one to leave. But that,
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: that movie, I mean, that movie, yeah, that movie took
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: a long time to make.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Everybody was so committed.
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: And also like you have to work in part and
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: parcel and in concert with the Navy, you know what
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: I mean?
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Navy doesn't stop being the Navy.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: So if we're filming on a carrier, we're filming it,
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: you know, in Top Gun or we're filming all these places,
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: these guys are actively, you know, training, um, nonstop.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: So, uh, yeah, it was a lot. It was, it
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: was a lot to, to kind of work out.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: So you're having to like work at like in between
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: certain days while they're doing stuff or at night while they're.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Like I remember when we were on the carrier, we could,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: maybe we had like, you know, uh, two hour window
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: for something to be up on, on the top deck. Um,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: But yeah, we were on the carrier for two weeks.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I remember I walked by this one sailor. It was
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: like one of my first few days being there. And
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: even though you're on this giant carrier, like you feel
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: like you're on a submarine because the hallways are very cramped.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: Everything is metal. There's nothing for comfort. There's nothing extraneous.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Like that is an active carrier. It's a wartime carrier. Um,
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: but it's very, it's very, it's a weapon. Um, I mean,
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: we're launching, you know, aircraft from it. Um, and so,
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: but when you're walking around, I mean, all of the hallway,
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: everything is so tight, even though it's this massive vessel.
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: And I walked by this one sailor and I was like, Hey,
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: I was like living the dream, huh? And he just
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: turns to me and he goes, nightmares are also dreams.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: And he said, it's so cold. I was like, that is,
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: we're on the Theodore Roosevelt. Um, but no, I just,
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: I don't know. I have so much, um, nightmares are
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: also dreams yeah.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: Because I mean that's a good point depending on what
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: your job is on that carrier I mean your job
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: placement you might be seven or eight you know decks
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: below and you know just the nature of.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: Operations sometimes like you're kind of that's kind of your
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: territory oh yeah absolutely.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Man do you I have so much respect for oh
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: yeah when you think of terrorists best what people go through.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: We're trying to maybe have Gary Sinise come on. I
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: know he's done.
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: He is.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: There's nobody that's done more.
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: That guy is... It's truly been his life's mission. To support.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Yeah, he's fantastic.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: To support veterans, yeah. Absolutely. Because it's not like the VA.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: Because I did this movie about guys coming home from
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: wars called Thank You for Your Service, and it was
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: based on this book.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Real guys. And that's kind of what you learn. It's
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: like the VA is not broken. It's just overwhelmed. And so...
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: you know, and for guys to kind of unpack.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: And our writer director was telling me, he's like, you know, Miles,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: we've known how to send guys to war, men and
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: women to war for centuries. Since the beginning of time,
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: we've known how to create a soldier, but we still
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: don't really know how to bring them back. And it is,
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: it's really, it's really complicated. Those programs that are, you know,
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: working for, you know, nonprofit, they can only take so
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: many people.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Funding is really important. And the use of people. Sorry,
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: go on. No, I was just saying it's really tough.
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: And also just with mental health in general, the amount
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: of training that it takes for somebody to be able
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: to appropriately deal with someone with, you know, if it's PTSD,
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: if it's bipolar, if it's schizophrenia, whatever it is, it
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: takes a long time to train somebody. Um, and to
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: be able to get them to sit with the person
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: and be able to potentially, you know, change their men's
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: a little bit, somebody that they trust, somebody who has
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: those skills, um, to deal with it.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: It's very tough. Um, and yeah, that's.
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: Actually something I'm, uh, yeah, I have a lot of
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: advocacy for, I think. And also when you talk to people,
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: I think most, I think a lot of people have somebody,
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: you know, in their, family or with friends that are,
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: you know, dealt with that. And it's, it's, it's just, yeah,
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: it's really tough. I think I have, yeah, just immense
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: amount of empathy and that stuff's always, you know, it's
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: more or less, it always kind of some traumatic event
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: happened at some age and that leads to, you know, these,
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: these mental health issues.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's such a great statement. We don't know how
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: to bring these people home.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: And then how much value, like, you know, even at
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: a governmental level, how much value, you know, should there
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: be just as much of a training and untraining program,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: you know, as much as you're training people for military
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: and for combat, should there be just as much.
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: Of an untraining?
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: And also these guys, you know, the guys that they
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: go to war with, those are the guys that understand
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: more than anybody what they went through.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: But then, you know, they go from being in, you know,
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: battalion and, you know, being those.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: Guys, and then they come home and everybody kind of
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: disperses and you know, it's, uh, yeah, it's, it's tough.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Well, it's like you were saying earlier, just like being
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: able to be part of a group and have that,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: you know, and then suddenly it's different or suddenly even
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: if you're life experience and you're put on leave or
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: something because you're a mental condition, then that's gotta be
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: even scarier. Cause now are you maybe struggling, but also
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: you're away from your group.
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: And also each like each, um, you know, depending on
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: what job you're going for in the military, you know, infantry, different, uh, branches, um,
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: you know, you need, it's a numbers game.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: We need numbers, um, at all times.
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: And so some of these, you know, some of the
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: boot camps are, you know, X amount of weeks and
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: it's like, here you go, here's a gun. And, um,
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: when you get more kind of, I guess, uh, tier one, um, yeah. Well,
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: I'm just saying like our special forces guys, I mean, those,
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: those guys have been through, you know, uh, a lot
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: of training and they're, they're, you're usually not in those
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: groups until you're, you know, you're certainly not 18, um,
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: as a Navy SEAL takes, you.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Know, Yeah. A couple of years.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: It's been, um, it was, I was, I went to this,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: to this football game last year, going to the Vanderbilt
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: football game.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: And there were two. Did you go to Vandy?
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: I didn't, but they just happened to be in Nashville.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: And I became buddies with, uh, um, their quarterback. And
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: that quarterback's a real deal.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: He's yeah. Bro. He's such a great guy. You would
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: love him, dude.
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: He's come. We went to UFC fight together. Actually. You
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: weren't at that one. Um, I've been out of the
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: mix for a little bit just cause we're the house stuff,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: but seven months ago, maybe. I don't remember which one
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: it was. I can't remember. How great are those? It's
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: the best. Well, dude, at the end of the day,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: they're going to fight. Yeah. And the time in between
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: is great. You just hang for a little chat.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: And then it's just when that music comes on forever's
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: coming in just the crowd i think madison square garden
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: especially or that's good you know or i imagine you
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: were at some of those connor fights during his heyday.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I got to go to one with him and uh
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: dustin that was it but when he came out it
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: was just.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: Yeah i think i saw you yeah i saw you
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: at that one yeah yeah i know dustin's your guys
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: that's it's a shame when that kind of generation you're
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: on now to the next group of fighters, but yeah,
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: Dustin's he's the man.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: They have so many great guys, but also being at
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: those events is so much fun. And you also realize
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: that you are nothing like, cause there's some bad ass
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: coming out thing. It's like, no matter if you think
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: you're cool or not, you were sitting there looking in
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: all at some warriors, you know, that when it comes
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: down to it, like, They're the P.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: One on one. Oh, you know what I mean?
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: And it's just like such a test of will and,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and like, and man or woman. And like, what do you, like,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: it makes you ask yourself a lot of things.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: It's yeah. I find that whole world is pretty fast.
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: Like I remember in high school, man, like, you know,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: I'd be, you know, I played baseball and, um, were
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: you pretty good in high school? I was, yeah, no, I,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I pitched up until, I.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: Guess it took me a minute to hit my growth spurt. Um,
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: But I was like, you know, stud, you know, kind
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: of early years. But I was saying, you know, even
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: with the football players, like the wrestlers, when you looked
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: at the wrestlers condition compared to the football players, you
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: couldn't even compare.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: Like a lot of my buddies are wrestlers.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: They're cutting 10, 12 pounds in high school. Like to
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: have that discipline at 15 to be like, no, I'm
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: skipping lunch. I got to, you know, I got to sweat.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: I got to do a sauna suit or just.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be crazy. The amount of discipline.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I remember driving to my neighborhood and my buddy Paul
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: would literally be running. And this is when we didn't
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: even know we had a wrestling team at our school.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: I think it was like the first year they started.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: He'd be running down the street in a bunch of
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: trash bags and shit. Like, Oh my God. Like he
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: did something bad at home or whatever. Like we just
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: didn't know what happened. Like a punishment. Yeah. It's I mean,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: it was crazy.
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: But yeah, dude.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: Um, Do you start to think like, okay, so now
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you have like kind of like a filmography of your
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: own work.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: I don't know if that's the right term, but.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Do you start to think, okay, this is a genre
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I would like to do, or I love that so much.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: I'd like to find a more unique way to do that. Like,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: is that something that an actor starts to think about?
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: How do you start to think about, do you start
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: to think about a little bit of like how many
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: movies you want to do or like what kind of
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: things come into your mind, like at your kind of
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: juncture in your career, uh, as far as the work.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: I think when I first started out in, I guess
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: when I was in college and be doing different scenes
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: and stuff in class, I always wanted to, like, I enjoyed, uh,
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: drama as much as I, you know, enjoyed comedy. I
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: actually kind of started out when I was in high school. Um,
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: you know, everybody kind of knew me as like the
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: class clown and I would play like the comedic relief in.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Plays and stuff. And then, I remember doing this very serious.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: Monologue and the whole class just started laughing. Like they
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: couldn't take me seriously. And I remember that pissed me off.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: Cause I was like, Oh, I've lost my audience. Like they're, I,
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: they just, Oh, they're locked into that.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: I'm a clown.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: And so they like, I was like, Oh shit. Okay. I, okay.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Now I need to kind of work on this other stuff.
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: I was like, cause like nobody didn't want to like
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: not be taken seriously for something. Um, So I knew
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: starting out, like I always, I had an appetite. I
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: think that's really what it comes down to. It's like,
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: what are your interests? So I've done movies with music.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: I grew up playing a bunch of instruments. I haven't
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: done a sports movie yet. I love sports, military, my family,
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: my friends. I've done some of that stuff. I've done
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: like a good amount of like blue collar stuff. I
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: like that. But I think as far as the genre goes,
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: every once in a while, yeah, you'll watch a film.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: Or maybe it's a certain director who works in a
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: certain genre. You're like, yeah, I would love to do that.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: But I think, yeah, it really just comes down to
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: taste and interest. I think I have a pretty wide
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: range of interests. And I don't really necessarily care what
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: the genre is as long as it just feels authentic
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: to me. So you can make a bad version of
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: any genre.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and I guess you can just feel that when
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: you read the script. You're like, I can see this.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: I can figure this out. Yeah, I think I've been
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: fortunate enough to– now in the beginning of most careers, right,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: people are like, oh, why did you do that? And
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: it's like, yo, you thought I had like multiple options?
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: Like what are you talking about? Like, no, you're just
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: trying to work professionally. Like if you can pay your
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: bills– and it's tough, man. You know how many– like
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: you're starting out.
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: It kind of– I think like in your 20s, there's
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: a lot of actors kind of we can all play, teenagers, this, that, whatever.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: And when you.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: Get older, it's like your audience wants to grow with you.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: You got to kind of mature with them. It's like
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: I imagine a lot of my fans now have like
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: kids and stuff, and that's great. And so I just
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: try to– I don't know. I think your best asset
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: would be I guess when you read a script. If
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: I think it's good, is it? And for the most part,
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: I've kind of just went with my instincts and gut.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: But for the most part, a lot of my career
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: has been, you know, a director's got to take a
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: chance on you. Like I played this boxer, Vinny Pazienza.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: My buddy just sent me a link to it. I
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: haven't watched it yet. Yeah, bleed for this.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: That's how I met Dana White because Vinny's like Dana's
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: favorite boxer all the time and he loved the movie,
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: loved the movie.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: That's how I got plugged in with UFC early on.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: My buddy just sent me this yesterday. He just got
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: in the box in Hall of Fame, Vinny. Shout out Vinny. Oh,
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: he did? But he's a, yeah, he's, he's just a dog.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: Vinny Pazienza?
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: Vinny Pazienza, the Pasmanian devil. That's a great name.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: But he- Oh, look at him. That's him? Yeah. So
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: he broke his- So he was, he had won some
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: titles early and then he was kind of, the promoters
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: kind of thought he was on the way out. You
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: played him? Yeah.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: So I had like, yeah, so there's footage of him.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: I mean, with that Halo one. Now, meanwhile, if you,
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: if you, you know, mess up more or less, with
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: that halo on here, you're going to be paralyzed for life.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: And there's video of him like, you know, doing some
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: pretty sick rope work with that halo one, just working
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: out like a madman. Um, I don't want to give
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: it away, but yeah, it's considered like, um, you know,
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: just one of sports all time.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: Great comebacks.
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: The only movie I had come out like right before
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: that I was like in fat or not fat, but
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: pudgy friend shape.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like I was like, I
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: don't need a six pack. That's just, that's BS, man. Like,
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: you need a six pack if you can't hold their
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: attention with your acting. I mean, just all bullshit. I
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: was sick when I was 25 and I used to
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: not like, I was like, ah, dude's ripped. He can't act. Dang, dude. Yeah.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: There's so many great actors out there. I can, it's
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: just fascinating to watch somebody just be able to create, um,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: to be able to carry a story.
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: And just be like an instrument just to be, uh,
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: like a word on a page, you know? Um, what's,
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: you know, it's like we're, We're shining a mirror up to,
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: you know, society really. You're just kind of the great actors, right?
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: You, you watch them and you obviously believe what they're doing,
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: but then it makes you feel about, you know, your
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: own life.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: And so it's beautiful.
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: They just really understand kind of the human condition, human experience. Um,
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: I think cause a lot of young actors will ask
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: her like, what do you think is like so important?
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: Isn't that as I, I go, I think, um, obviously
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: start from the inside, um, we're from the inside out.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: And I think just two abilities or curiosities that will
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: really aid you is like, you know.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: Just empathy.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: If you're somebody who just, you know, see somebody different
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: way of life and, um, you can feel for somebody
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: other than yourself and, and then your curiosity. Um, I
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: think that's what's lent me to a lot of, um,
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: projects I've, I've ended up doing just cause I think
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: I've always had a just high level of curiosity and
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: empathy for, for other people.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Um, Where do you think that comes from for you?
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: I think just– yeah, I don't know. I guess the
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: way I was raised, we did– we moved around a lot. Well,
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: there was my family. Like on my mom's side, there
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: was a lot of trouble. Like my grandma, she buried
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: all of her kids but one. And a lot of
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: them died very young. And I think I come from
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: a certain kind of stock that– And then, you know,
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: my uncle, he was a quadriplegic from the time he
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: was like 17. So my entire life spending a lot
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: of time in like nursing homes and, you know, those
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: kind of environments that can be fairly traumatizing for a
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: young kid to just hearing like beeps and people wandering
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: around with, you know, maybe dementia and Alzheimer's and it
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: can be scary. And they're usually not the most well-lit places,
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: but we, you know, we're constantly kind of in those environments,
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: you know, and, you know, feeding him at, you know,
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: you know, meals and I don't know, just different things
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: like that.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I think that's wanting to take care of your grandmother
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: whenever you were, you know, when you guys' house went
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: through that trauma and stuff like that.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I could see that, I guess.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: And I moved around a lot. Like I lived in
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: like five States by the time I was 12.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: Oh God. Yeah.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: So you have to be willing to open yourself up
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: to people because you gotta be liked.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: You gotta be accepted. You gotta be, you gotta fit in.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: You gotta find a way.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: Um, but she's a kid. That's harder for a kid.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was easier– well, certainly kind of
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: it's all a part of the– I think how our
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: personalities develop. Certain things happen in childhood, right?
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: You can dig deep to figure out, oh, that's why
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: I am– Right, right. That's why I do that.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: But it is, though. I think for a kid to
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: move to a new place, that's a lot. Yeah. I
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: told my parents when.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: We first moved to Florida from South Jersey, I was
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: like– because I really loved South Jersey.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: And I was just like, I'm going to paint my
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: walls black. I'm going to be a goth.
- 1:28:42Speaker 4: You're going to be embarrassed by me. I'm going to
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: wear Marilyn Manson shirts when your friends come over.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Like, yeah. One of my favorite friends. One of my
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: favorite friends. No, that's it. I'm just thinking back to myself, like,
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: paint my walls black.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: I'm going to paint my fucking ceiling fan black. Has
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: anybody ever even fucking done that? It's just going to
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: make black air in the room.
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: Dude, I, uh, my buddy Jeff, dude, he was, he
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: was hilarious.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: We would go over to his house and I've told
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: this part of the story before, but, um, we would,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: I go, we all, we'd all go outside and get high.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: And then I would come in the house and I would,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I would come in before everybody, uh, I would tell, um,
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: his dad that they were high.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Right. You fucking asshole. Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. Just to, like,
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: save yourself. Just because here's what I love. I loved—
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: You were high with them.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: I was high.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: I didn't tell them that part. No, that's what I'm saying, yeah.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: But I would say that they were high, and they
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: were seeming— some of the behaviors they'd have been doing, it
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: seemed a little zest or whatever.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Some of them throwing a little nugget like that,
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: and you couldn't fucking kind of hear it. Put a
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: cigarette out on a lizard. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: You'd see them fucking— yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: He put a cigarette out. He just, that energy took
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: over him, dude. If he thought like his, if kids
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: were being high and zesty, it scared him a little.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: But anyway, then I would sit in there and wait
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: and they would come in and he would just be
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: looking at him and they would, it was always like,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: do not tell my dad.
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: I'm fucking, I was like, don't worry. And just seeing
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: the dad fucking figure him out, bro. I would lay
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: there in the other room crying of laughter just knowing that.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: They're about to get beat.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Knowing that this whole scenario had been created. But my
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: buddy Jeff, dude, he had this like anger sometimes. And
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: he would go play that song. He had one CD
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: and it was that song.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: You got to keep them separated. Yeah. Oh, that's offspring. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: He would go in his room. He would beat the
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: drywall out of his room. And then every year for Christmas,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: his parents would redo the drywall.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: That was his Christmas present.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: It's fucking sick. I had a buddy like that.
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: And then he ended up kind of working in a construction.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: And so now he, like, even as an adult, some shit, whatever,
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: fucking kick a hole in his wall. But then he's
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: patching it himself.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, dude.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: And Jeff is in the military too, dude. Shout out Jeff.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: And shout out the lead singer of Offspring.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: He came up to a show one time and I
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: told him that story. And I've waited my whole life
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: to tell him that story. I was like, dude, we
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: had so much fun. Yeah, we just had so much fun, dude.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Fuck those angels.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: I think that's what's nice growing up. Like in the
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: town I grew up in, it's such a small town.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, I mean.
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: Our– if we skipped school it was to like go
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: float down the river.
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: And we would go to the walmart and then you
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: know usually it started out just you know you buy
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: an air mattress for a couple bucks um but yeah
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: you're just sitting in the walmart looking around like you
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: know benjamin franklin like all right well you know what
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: do you think we can get to float and i
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: remember one time we got this like eight foot by
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: four foot kids like swimming pool we fit like six
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: dudes in there and a cooler a beer in the
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: middle and you know push off a little bit okay
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: yeah we're going it's great.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: I love that yeah I know, I miss, of course
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: you miss it, but yeah, I just like, that kind
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: of stuff was so much fun. When the world, when
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: everything felt so new and the world didn't, it felt
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: big in some ways, but your view was so concise,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: kind of.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: Well, because you're not, you're typically not jaded. Yeah, you're
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: not worried about anything.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: At that point.
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: That's what I noticed when I- You just have to
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: eat and lie to your parents. When I've shot movies
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: in some- uh, you know, underprivileged areas. Uh, I mean,
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: I'll see these kids playing in what you would basically
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: describe as like a landfill and they're so happy and
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: they're just kicking around trash. Like it's a soccer ball
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: and you just realize like children, like for the most
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: part are innately happy. They don't know what else, especially
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: where we were at. It's like, they don't know what
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: else out there. They don't know how we're living, how
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: people are living in other parts of the world. It's really,
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: it's like, it's a, Um, it's, it's touching and it's,
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: it's also, you know, it's very sweet and, but it's,
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: I always, whenever a kid gets kind of their childhood
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: taken away from them too early or they have to
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: become an adult too early, that's, that's tough. It's like, no, these,
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: like this was the time, you know, for you to
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: just be a kid.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: You think that that would be auto, like at that, that,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: that would be kind of guaranteed, you know, maybe one
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: day it will be.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: Maybe that's where we're all headed. No, it's tough, man.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: It's like, I, you know, I know, uh, A ton
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: of people, adulting, adult life is really tough for them.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: And because it's tough on them, their kid a lot
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: of time is handed a little more, I think, responsibility
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: or even just emotional.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, stuff they shouldn't have to think about, that sort
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: of thing. That's the craziest.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Dude, I know a guy who used to wake his
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: kids up and get them to pee for him so
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: he could go do drug tests.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: They ran a snow cone stand in our town. And
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I'll probably have to take that part out because we
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: don't have a lot of snow cone stands in our town.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: So people know.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: I got to watch it because that's like my town.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: It's just it.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: Anything else you want to tell us about the film?
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: Any reason like why you believe like or was there
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: anything like about it that resonated with you after it,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: after having watched it?
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: Did you give notes on the edit? It's just or
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: anything like I don't know.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think because we had our first premiere
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: up in Toronto and it was just really wonderful. After
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: the film, like how many people, you said, because it does,
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: it just really makes you think about your own kind
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: of mortality and loved ones. But people really wanted to,
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: I mean, for me, those are my favorite movies where
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: it leaves you really thinking. But I think it's just really,
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: it's a really funny movie. I think it's really sweet
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: and sincere.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: All of Kelly's girls were, We're crying. Yeah, it's very sweet.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: It's not, like, too heavy.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: No.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: I mean, there's some moments that are.
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: You're dealing with heavy, I mean, well, you're dealing with
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: something that's maybe inevitable or not based on kind of
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: what you're taking supplements-wise.
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: For sure.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: And how you take care of the dojo better. But
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: it is, it's just, my wife says her favorite film
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: that I've ever been in, her favorite film maybe of
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: the last, like, However long– and also I feel like
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: it's– That's pretty sweet, huh? I think it's a movie
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: that– I think it can– I think it fits with
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: kind of the classic romantic comedies that are more character-driven.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: And yeah, I'm excited. I'm just really excited for people
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: to see it. And is it coming out in streaming?
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: Is it coming out in theaters? No, so it comes
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: out in theaters nationwide like Thanksgiving. Oh, sweet. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: so great holiday– film, take your mom, your grandma, dad,
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: your girl, whatever. Yeah, I think anybody, a whole family
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: could go see it. I think it's that kind of thing.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: It's certainly that.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: And yeah, I do think some of those questions, yeah,
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: it made me feel a little bit more upbeat. Yeah,
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: it's just like, I don't know. It was something that,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: it's certainly something that I hadn't seen before. And I
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: thought that was, it was very creative.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: It was very creative.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: And then when you're thinking about love, you're thinking about
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: the afterlife, you're thinking about the choices that we make
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: and stuff like that. It made me a little mournful
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: that there's some moments you never get to– it's like
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: you'll start to think, oh, I didn't have that high
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: school love that lasts forever. But then it's like– but
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: that couldn't even have been a reality in my life.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: It never would have fit in, right? But it's just
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: interesting to kind of think about things like that. I
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: like thinking about matters of the heart and stuff like that.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Oh, the last thing I was going to tell you.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: So yeah, I went to the Vanderbilt game, but I
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: saw these two– there was two kids there. And they
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: were there with their dad and their dad had just
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: gotten back from service. He was in Qatar. And right
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: when I saw the kids, like, oh, dude, my dad
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: saw you perform in Qatar. I went over there and
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: did just a thing for the military.
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: Was it through USO or something different? No, it was
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: like they were doing like. Something for troops. Yeah.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: The president was doing something over there and they were
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: doing some troops thing.
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: But anyway, it was just.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: They're like, oh, dude, our dad– and you could just tell, like,
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I was like, oh, how long have you been there for?
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: And he's like, I was there for a year. And
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: it was just like– I don't know. It was just
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: interesting to see this moment. And I was like, are
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: you guys glad your dad is home? And you could
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: just see, like– I don't know. It's just– you just
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: see some of the sacrifice. It was just a moment
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: that I had to witness, like, kind of firsthand a
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: little bit of, like, the sacrifice that– Yeah, absolutely. That
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: sons deal with, that fathers deal with, that people deal
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: with to keep our country safe and– Yeah, it's just touching, man.
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: Yeah, this guy, the guy that I played in Thank
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: You for Your Service, Adam Schumann, he, you know, because
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: people say, you know, thank you for your service. And
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: a lot of the time people say that sometimes to
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: just alleviate their own guilt of having not served.
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: But, you know, I've heard guys talk about it. It's weird.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: You're thanking me for something that, hey, I signed up for,
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: I wanted to do, or you're thanking me for, you
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: don't even know what my job was. It's just a
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: complicated kind of, decorative term that we use out of
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: lack of, of knowing, but he would say the thing
- 1:37:58Speaker 4: that really broke him, he was, you know, filling up his, um, uh,
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: you know, his, his truck with gas and, you know,
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: his army, the big red one. And, you know, guy
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: saw that and, you know, basically just kind of shook
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: his hand and, you know, said like, welcome home, you know,
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: welcome home son. And, um, you know, glad you got
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: home safe. And that's, you know, it's, it's, uh, yeah, it's,
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: it's tough. It's, it's, But you're– that's– we can do
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: what we do because those men and women are over
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: there doing.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: You know, doing the dirty work. I mean, our job
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: is built on the freedom of speech, you know, both
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: of our jobs are built on it. Like it doesn't
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: even exist if people, uh, if people aren't, uh, making
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: the sacrifice for us. Um, but yeah, that'd be great
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: to be able to talk with Gary Sinise. I know
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: he does a lot with the, with the, for veterans and, um, Yeah.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: It's nice to just be reminded.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: It's nice to be reminded of a space to another
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: reason to step gratitude for the things that we have
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: going on.
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: It's like, it's different parts of the, like we're, you know,
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: growing up in Florida, I feel like there's so many
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: people that, um, you know, had family members in the military. Um,
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: but it's, it's a lot more socio like economic driven
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: now to where the military it's, it doesn't feel like
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: the entire country is really a part of it. And
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: it's really happening in very specific pockets. Um, so it's
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: kind of, it'll be interesting in the next like 25 years,
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: 50 years of who you kind of have to live
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: in these certain areas to, to have a relationship with
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: somebody who's serving.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: Cause that's what personalizes it. Um, yeah, that's a good point, man.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: You know, during, uh, in ancient Rome, they used to
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: have the, the, the politicians were also on the battlefield,
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: which is pretty fascinating. So it was like, the rules
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: that they were making, if they, if they were going
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: to send people in a battle, they were going to
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: have to be associated with those rules. And I think
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: it would be, I mean, who am I to say
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: I didn't serve, but it would be, you know, I
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: think maybe some of the rules we would make might
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: be some of the choice we would make might be
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: a little bit different if it felt like you had
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: skin in the game.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I think there's always some value in having
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: skin in the game. Yeah. I think that's just a
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: tricky thing.
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: Politics in general, when you just can't recognize the, um,
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: you know, the elected officials and the leaders, you just
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: feel like you cannot relate to them. They can't relate
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: to you on any level. And it feels like those
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: margins are getting wider.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: Getting wider.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: Dude, that might be a cool, I'm sure there's a
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: cool film out there. A lot of cool opportunities. Well, man,
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: I hope you continue to serve us in great ways
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: by bringing art to life and bringing it into video
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: format for us. And yeah, thank you so much, dude,
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: for all the entertainment and for stopping by and chatting.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: Thanksgiving week, you guys can check out Eternity with Miles
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: Tuller and Elizabeth Olson.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: And also my wife, Kelly, she's coming out with a,
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: like a pajama, a robe line. Will that be available
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: for holidays? Yeah, yeah. And I'm just so proud of her.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: So had to get that out there too. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah,
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: you guys have been together for how long? Uh, it's
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: almost 13 years. Dang. Yeah.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: Did you know right when you met her that that
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: was the one? I knew she was like the most
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: beautiful girl I'd ever seen.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: There you go. I appreciate that guys. Um, she's the
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: most pure hearted person I've ever met in my life.
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: I didn't know that. Obviously when I saw her, I
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: was just attracted to her face.
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: Um, you know, and, uh, but then as I've gotten to, um,
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: you know, but then we're pretty inseparable right off the bat,
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: but I do remember cause I was like 25 dude.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: This was like, very, I'd lived in L my career
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: just started. And she, you know, and I remember my boys,
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: my Florida boys, I moved out with, um, when they
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: start seeing her hanging around more and more, I'm like, yeah, well,
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: she's my girlfriend. They're like, what the fuck are you
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: talking about? They're like, why would you have a girlfriend
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: right now? This is our moment. This is our entourage moment.
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: Like we rented a house in the Valley.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: We had a pool. They're like, this is our time, dude.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: I was like, well, you know, I, I, I was
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: probably like, yeah. Am I ready to settle down? No,
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: but also I'm not ready for, her to just leave
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: me either. You know, it's like, I don't want, this
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: one's not getting away. Uh, for sure. Dude, that's funny.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: You buy your best friend. Do we literally like, I
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: never get, I never get sick of her. I like,
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: and when I, and when I tell people the difference
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: is like, you know, most people, they have a job
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: nine to five, whatever it is. And when I'm filming,
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: certainly it's like that. But when I'm not, it's like,
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: and she comes with me when I'm filming. It's like,
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: I see her from the moment I wake up to
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: the moment I go to bed. You know, maybe I
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: go work out for a little bit or do something
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: like that, but we are with each other all of
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: the time, and we love it. Like, it truly is. Like,
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: she cracks me up. She's very low. Like, she's so
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: hard to rattle, to get rattled. She doesn't raise her voice.
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: She says being calm is her superpower.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: But she is. She's just, like, unflappable. She's great. The
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: unflappable Kelly Teller. Oh, she's going to love that.
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: She loves you.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: And she has a new pajama line that's out. Yeah,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: I remember the day that I met her. You guys
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: were sitting out there out back together, man. I think
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: almost every time I've seen you except for that one
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: time that you were dancing by yourself, which is pretty admirable.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: I think I was seeing people. Miles was there dancing
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: by himself. I'm like, that dude is doing his own thing.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: I took my boy to the fight that time.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: It's so much fun. It's fun to bring your friends, man.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: And it's fun to bring us into your world for
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: a little while. Thank you so much, Miles. I appreciate it.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Check out Kelly's new pajamas. And congratulations, man, on everything.
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: Thanks, dude.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: Yep, have a good day, brother. I'll see you at
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: a fight soon. It sounds good, yeah. Now I'm just
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: floating on the breeze And I feel I'm falling like
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: these leaves I must be cornerstone Oh, but when I
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: reach that ground I'll share this
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Peace of mind I found I can feel it in
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: my bones
