- 1:00Speaker 3: back in studio. It's a football Friday. We'll be here
- 1:05Speaker 3: all show long. Burbank and Lee at Rouse's.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Come see us.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Come hang out. Come eat breakfast. Just stay about five
- 1:12Speaker 3: to ten feet away from that.
- 1:14Speaker 2: All right. We're not social distancing today, buddy.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Nobody wants the flu, bud.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Okay. Well, you know, whatever it was, we dominated. We
- 1:26Speaker 2: crushed it.
- 1:27Speaker 4: I thought I had yesterday morning, but I was lying
- 1:29Speaker 4: to everybody. I was lying to myself. Sometimes you got
- 1:32Speaker 4: to talk positivity. But this today is different. Medically, we're
- 1:38Speaker 4: crushing it.
- 1:38Speaker 3: If you just wanted an off day, you could have said, hey,
- 1:41Speaker 3: I don't want to come in.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I would have planned for it, you know. Buddy, hey.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Can you imagine most people in the world, they felt
- 1:50Speaker 4: 5% as bad as I did.
- 1:53Speaker 2: They would have probably taken off for a week. A week?
- 1:56Speaker 2: Maybe two weeks. I don't know. Nobody really knows how
- 1:58Speaker 2: bad you felt. Pretty bad. Take me out of something?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Come on. Take me out of a championship golf match
- 2:04Speaker 2: as well? I didn't go play golf. You looked like ish.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I'll tell you that. I went home and went to
- 2:10Speaker 2: see the doc. The doc? The good doc. Oh, the doc. Yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 2: The good Dr. Ethers.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Went to go see him, checked it, and gave me
- 2:18Speaker 4: a little shot, gave me some medicines, and went home.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Some medicines, huh? I was in a fever dream all
- 2:27Speaker 4: day until about 5, 5.30 a.m. Woke up from the
- 2:31Speaker 4: fever dream. Ninja flipped out.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Ready to roll. You've been up since 5.30? Yesterday afternoon? Oh, no.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I went back to sleep. Okay. I went back to
- 2:41Speaker 2: sleep in my normal nighttime. Okay.
- 2:44Speaker 4: So I know I needed it because my body, my
- 2:50Speaker 4: internal clock is not screwed up after sleeping for eight
- 2:54Speaker 4: hours during the day.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Okay, well, do you remember anything about yesterday's show?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Not really, no. You had some wild takes. Like, yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 2: you were giving some wild stuff. Like, are you okay?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Are you sick or something? Yeah, wild takes. What did
- 3:06Speaker 2: I say? Just all the stuff. Give me one. All
- 3:08Speaker 2: of them. I probably predicted the Bears would win. Well,
- 3:12Speaker 2: that's not really a wild take. They were favored.
- 3:15Speaker 3: And the home team on Thursday night football, just straight
- 3:18Speaker 3: up Thursday night football, last three years, now 15-31.
- 3:25Speaker 2: The home team is 15? The road team.
- 3:27Speaker 3: The road team is 15 and 31. The road team
- 3:30Speaker 3: is 15 and 31 now.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Is that abnormal? I wonder what the– I mean, obviously
- 3:38Speaker 2: it's– 15 and 31 feels real bad. It does feel bad.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I mean, you play for Green Bay. You play plenty
- 3:47Speaker 3: of Thursday games. I played a lot of them. Every
- 3:49Speaker 3: time we played the Raiders, it was Thursday. That week
- 3:53Speaker 3: is not fun. Now, afterwards is fun because you get, like, Friday, Saturday,
- 3:58Speaker 3: Sunday off.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It's like a little mini-bye.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you would always think that, like, Thursday night football
- 4:03Speaker 4: would always end up being sloppy just because it's a
- 4:06Speaker 4: short week. I mean, you just got done playing on
- 4:08Speaker 4: a Monday. You get, really, you get your off day.
- 4:12Speaker 4: You get one real practice, right? And then you get
- 4:16Speaker 4: kind of a jog-through type practice. But they still have
- 4:19Speaker 4: to give you your off day just because you can't.
- 4:22Speaker 4: go from a game to monday i mean you do
- 4:24Speaker 4: like your stretch of stride and you do all.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Your like you like we on mondays after a sunday
- 4:30Speaker 3: before thursday we would actually go out like we didn't
- 4:33Speaker 3: have an off we would have a practice on monday
- 4:36Speaker 3: on monday okay trying to think if we did i
- 4:38Speaker 3: don't think i don't think you actually got an off.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Day yeah i don't think we had i mean it
- 4:42Speaker 2: wasn't and nothing was ever heavy.
- 4:44Speaker 4: We might have had like a jog through but you
- 4:46Speaker 4: had like helmets on yeah you know what i mean
- 4:48Speaker 4: i don't think we did that on a monday um Obviously,
- 4:52Speaker 4: on Tuesday, that would be your one real, real practice.
- 4:54Speaker 4: And then the day before the game, you never really
- 4:56Speaker 4: do much. You'll go do a jog through or a
- 4:59Speaker 4: walk through. Well, especially if you're traveling. But you would
- 5:02Speaker 4: think it would always be sloppy. But for some reason,
- 5:03Speaker 4: we always get really good games on Thursday. This was
- 5:06Speaker 4: a great game. And a lot of it is there
- 5:08Speaker 4: is less prep time. There's less game planning time for
- 5:11Speaker 4: the coaches. So the coaches can't draw up all this
- 5:13Speaker 4: crazy stuff.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Can't chase ghosts.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Can't chase ghosts. You don't have time to. You don't
- 5:17Speaker 4: have time to make up any ghosts in your head.
- 5:19Speaker 4: So coaches don't really overthink Thursdays. They just go and
- 5:23Speaker 4: run their plays. And it's always entertaining. Special ball plays.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Let me tell you, last night was a good, that
- 5:29Speaker 4: was a high-level football game to watch. Caleb Williams played,
- 5:34Speaker 4: is playing, it's going to be hard to find, like,
- 5:37Speaker 4: tape that is better play than that. Like, he just,
- 5:40Speaker 4: he didn't do anything that was, like, over the top,
- 5:42Speaker 4: but just working his progressions in the pocket was, finding
- 5:46Speaker 4: open people, being accurate with the ball, and then making
- 5:49Speaker 4: some plays when they needed it, whether he was working,
- 5:54Speaker 4: you know, within the play, like on schedule or off schedule,
- 5:58Speaker 4: having to maneuver in the pocket. He made some guys
- 6:00Speaker 4: miss in the pocket and delivered some throws yesterday. That
- 6:02Speaker 4: was very high level stuff. And on the other side
- 6:06Speaker 4: of the ball, Mike Vrabel with a couple of extremely
- 6:10Speaker 4: high level coaching decisions towards the end. Now, they're down,
- 6:14Speaker 4: Patriots down by six, and they do a couple things like, oh,
- 6:17Speaker 4: what are they doing? But it was high-level coaching. I
- 6:20Speaker 4: think there was, I wrote it down here, there was
- 6:23Speaker 4: 13 inches. The Bears are 13 inches on the Patriots'
- 6:28Speaker 4: 40-yard line. Pats are down by six. The clock has stopped.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Pats have three timeouts. It's 13 inches now. And it's
- 6:35Speaker 4: right in that go zone for most offensive people. Well,
- 6:40Speaker 4: I am assuming, and it looked like it, the defensive
- 6:42Speaker 4: tackle jumps off sides for the Pats, gives them an
- 6:44Speaker 4: automatic first down. And I believe it was an intentional
- 6:48Speaker 4: offsides to give them that first down.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And that is high-level coaching.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So you don't, yeah, you're talking about more time off
- 6:54Speaker 3: the clock if it's, yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 4: You got to assume that they're going to go for
- 6:57Speaker 4: it for two straight plays, right?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:59Speaker 4: So you're going to, with the clock stop, you jump offsides.
- 7:02Speaker 4: It gives them the automatic first down, but it doesn't
- 7:04Speaker 4: start the clock. So you don't have to waste one
- 7:07Speaker 4: of your timeouts. You know for a fact that if
- 7:09Speaker 4: they have a first down and you stop them, You
- 7:12Speaker 4: can blow your timeouts, and you can still.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Get the ball back. So high-level coaching stuff there.
- 7:17Speaker 4: And then later on, when the Pats did get the
- 7:20Speaker 4: ball back, they were down by nine points.
- 7:22Speaker 2: So two scores. They get it. They are down.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's around the 20-yard line or something.
- 7:27Speaker 4: On second down, they kick the field goal with 40
- 7:29Speaker 4: seconds left on the clock. They're like, oh, well, you're
- 7:33Speaker 4: so close to the end zone. You've got to get
- 7:35Speaker 4: in the end zone at some point. I liked that
- 7:38Speaker 4: idea because you're going to have to get an onside
- 7:40Speaker 4: kick to have a chance. You're going to have to
- 7:42Speaker 4: get it anyways. Give yourself an onside kick with more
- 7:46Speaker 4: than 10, 12 seconds left on the clock. Give yourself
- 7:49Speaker 4: an onside kick and– Try to get the ball in
- 7:53Speaker 4: your offense's hands with 40 seconds left so they can
- 7:55Speaker 4: at least have a couple plays to get it closer.
- 7:57Speaker 2: To the end zone. Right. I like the clock management.
- 7:59Speaker 4: There's some high-level stuff right there from Braves. Now they
- 8:03Speaker 4: come up losing, but I just– from both sides of
- 8:06Speaker 4: the ball, it was a very entertaining game to watch
- 8:08Speaker 4: from just the– it was a class.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Game, I thought.
- 8:12Speaker 3: So I was doing some research here, and this feels
- 8:15Speaker 3: about right. So I mentioned away teams now, I guess– Yeah, 15-31.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and add last night's game in there.
- 8:24Speaker 2: 15-31 on straight up, not.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Thanksgiving games, not Christmas games, not season openers, straight up
- 8:28Speaker 3: Thursday night Amazon football.
- 8:30Speaker 2: 15-31.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Away teams in general this year, 45-48-1. So there's something
- 8:37Speaker 3: to it.
- 8:40Speaker 2: There's a difference.
- 8:41Speaker 3: There's something to it on a short week, and that
- 8:44Speaker 3: includes last night's game added into that equation. And also
- 8:47Speaker 3: it does include– the designated away teams in international games,
- 8:52Speaker 3: but that's not enough to– even if every one of
- 8:55Speaker 3: those was taken off the board, it's still 45-48-1. So, yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 3: there's something to being the away team on a short week. Because,
- 9:03Speaker 3: I mean, you're already– everything is just jammed in there together.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And then when you've got to throw travel in there, too.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I wonder– this is going to be a harder stat
- 9:11Speaker 4: to look at lower on air, but I wonder if
- 9:14Speaker 4: that affects– Away teams coming off a Monday night game.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Because y'all got to remember, like a Monday night game,
- 9:19Speaker 4: it's a short week too. You're getting one less day
- 9:23Speaker 4: to prepare as well. So one less practice.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:26Speaker 3: A lot of times if we had a Monday night game,
- 9:29Speaker 3: win or lose really, Tuesday was off.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So it's like we don't see you. And then you
- 9:35Speaker 2: start on the next opponent Wednesday.
- 9:37Speaker 3: So you didn't even really get a chance to have
- 9:40Speaker 3: corrections off that tape. Now, you could watch it on
- 9:44Speaker 3: your own, which you did, but normally a Monday would be, hey,
- 9:47Speaker 3: we're going to have corrections, we're going to go over
- 9:48Speaker 3: the tape, we're going to see what went wrong.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You kind of blow.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Past that game on a Monday night and you go
- 9:54Speaker 3: straight to your next opponent.
- 9:57Speaker 2: If you had a really good game on a Monday night,
- 9:58Speaker 2: it was like.
- 9:59Speaker 4: coach just tried to get you back on the regular
- 10:01Speaker 4: schedule because tuesday's always the off day in the nfl
- 10:04Speaker 4: tuesdays they don't you don't you don't go to the
- 10:06Speaker 4: facility you don't see you yeah some guys might want
- 10:09Speaker 4: to come get a workout most people do not yeah
- 10:11Speaker 4: um so yeah tuesday's your see you day.
- 10:13Speaker 3: So if you had a really good game on monday
- 10:15Speaker 3: night football you're like we're not gonna watch that If
- 10:17Speaker 3: you had a really bad game on Monday Night Football,
- 10:21Speaker 3: you were pretty excited.
- 10:22Speaker 4: It's kind of like as a backup, time to shine
- 10:26Speaker 4: was preseason.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Never watched the tape on the fourth preseason game. I
- 10:31Speaker 4: was like, Coach, come on now. We're not going to
- 10:33Speaker 4: throw that up there? I'll give you three bills. We're
- 10:35Speaker 4: not going to throw the highlights up that we can
- 10:37Speaker 4: shout out everybody and make a good play?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Come on, Coach. You're like, no, Matt, the Uber driver
- 10:41Speaker 2: went back to Ubering. Yeah. He's not in the building anymore.
- 10:45Speaker 4: We're cutting 40 people today. We don't want to celebrate
- 10:48Speaker 4: you and your throw on third down.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But, Coach, you don't understand. That's a really nice throw.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's all I got, man.
- 10:56Speaker 3: That was also some pretty high-level quarterback play last night, too.
- 11:01Speaker 3: That was a lot of fun to watch. Man, I
- 11:04Speaker 3: enjoy watching Caleb Williams play. Drake May was good, too.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Drake May, 24 of 31, 321, two touchdowns. He did
- 11:13Speaker 3: have the interception there, but he played at a very
- 11:15Speaker 3: high level. Had four rushes for 26 yards and a
- 11:18Speaker 3: touchdown as well. Caleb Williams, 22 of 33, 308, two touchdowns,
- 11:22Speaker 3: no interceptions. He ran for 18 yards.
- 11:25Speaker 2: And so it was high-level quarterback play.
- 11:27Speaker 3: And it's something we talk about with quarterbacks all the time,
- 11:30Speaker 3: like that 26 yards on the ground that Drake May had,
- 11:32Speaker 3: the 18 that Caleb had.
- 11:34Speaker 4: It's not a lot of yards, but it just gives
- 11:36Speaker 4: you something. It's chain moving at the right time. So
- 11:41Speaker 4: both of those guys are playing at a high level.
- 11:43Speaker 4: I know Drake started a little slow, and I know
- 11:44Speaker 4: Caleb's had some injuries, but both guys, man, for this
- 11:47Speaker 4: to be what, their third year, third season in the league,
- 11:50Speaker 4: they are playing at a very high level of making
- 11:53Speaker 4: plays when you need to. Even Drake, he throws interception
- 11:56Speaker 4: on a seam route to a tight end early. It
- 11:58Speaker 4: looked like a bad Touchdown, he saw man-to-man.
- 12:01Speaker 2: He's trying to throw.
- 12:02Speaker 4: What I believe is probably like a back shoulder seam
- 12:06Speaker 4: route in man-to-man. Just misread the defender's leverage. Misread his
- 12:11Speaker 4: body presence with his receiver. It ends up looking like
- 12:14Speaker 4: a bad throw, but he comes in like a quarter
- 12:17Speaker 4: later and rips a man-to-man seam route to a tight
- 12:19Speaker 4: end in the same spot for a touchdown. You're looking
- 12:23Speaker 4: at two high-level guys that make the plays when they
- 12:28Speaker 4: need to and Like, with your feet, they are able,
- 12:32Speaker 4: and like you said, not like real sexy stats, but
- 12:34Speaker 4: like back-breaking, chain-moving, when-you-gotta-have-it type scrambles. And if the Saints, like,
- 12:41Speaker 4: let's take this to the Saints. Like, if the Saints
- 12:42Speaker 4: want to win games, I think if the Saints have
- 12:46Speaker 4: a W on their schedule, and, like, you look back, like,
- 12:50Speaker 4: we got the win.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Let's take a look at the stats.
- 12:52Speaker 4: You're going to see Tyler Shuck's going to have 20
- 12:54Speaker 4: to 40 rushing yards.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Yep. And it's going to be strategic. It's just going
- 12:57Speaker 2: to be like that.
- 12:57Speaker 4: It's when you got to have it type moments. I
- 13:00Speaker 4: don't know if, you know, there's a lot of metrics
- 13:02Speaker 4: to look at. There's a lot of hurdles to overcome
- 13:04Speaker 4: for the Saints. But I think that is one that
- 13:07Speaker 4: this season, at least, is a must-have. Tyler has got
- 13:11Speaker 4: to be able to get it done with his legs
- 13:14Speaker 4: at some point in the game. And not a called play.
- 13:17Speaker 4: We're not doing quarterback powers around here. But I'm talking
- 13:19Speaker 4: about a third and got to have it. Third and
- 13:22Speaker 4: got to have it in a moment, whether it's the
- 13:23Speaker 4: end of the second quarter or whether it's in the
- 13:25Speaker 4: fourth quarter, whether you're down by 13 in the third
- 13:28Speaker 4: and you just got to have it at that moment.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I hope someone's okay over there. Oh, breakfast bar coming.
- 13:38Speaker 2: It's coming. Very loudly.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I think sometimes they're like, hey, I know they're on
- 13:42Speaker 3: the radio. Let me see how loud I can be.
- 13:45Speaker 3: and see if they say something. Hey, these chairs got
- 13:47Speaker 3: to be put down at some point.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Oh, our guy. He loves it.
- 13:51Speaker 3: He's coming over here, and he's going to screech the table,
- 13:54Speaker 3: look at us as he does it, and.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Then throw the chair down onto the ground. Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 3: He's going to bring his forklift over here for no
- 14:03Speaker 3: reason and just set it up to the side.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Our guy's a presence. He is a force to be
- 14:08Speaker 2: reckoned with.
- 14:08Speaker 3: He said, and I bet Flynn won't do anything about it.
- 14:11Speaker 2: He did say that. He said it with his eyes.
- 14:15Speaker 2: He didn't actually say it. He didn't have to. Yeah. Anyway,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I don't remember what I was talking about. Something about
- 14:20Speaker 2: Tyler Shuck running for 250. Yeah, exactly. No doubt about it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: But honestly, though, doing the NFL stuff in the afternoons,
- 14:28Speaker 3: Packer fans, when they call in, there's some crazy stats
- 14:31Speaker 3: about Jordan Love, like just not running, just won't do it,
- 14:36Speaker 3: will not do it, will not take off. And then
- 14:38Speaker 3: last week he had something like 14 yards rushing. And
- 14:41Speaker 3: it was the difference. Like, it was a big, big difference.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 3: So we're not talking about running for 50 yards. Sometimes
- 14:47Speaker 3: it's run for two first downs on third and four.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yep. You know? And it's sexy. He likes to run backwards. Yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And then throw it. He does like to do that.
- 14:55Speaker 4: He likes to run backwards and then throw it about
- 14:56Speaker 4: 80 yards in the air.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And then it lands perfectly. That's very, very true. All right.
- 15:02Speaker 3: We will take our first break of the show. And
- 15:05Speaker 3: when we come back, of course, we've got to dive
- 15:07Speaker 3: into LSU and Auburn. We've got to dive into the
- 15:10Speaker 3: Saints and the Steelers. A lot to get to. Basketball
- 15:14Speaker 3: season coming up. A couple more exhibitions.
- 15:19Speaker 2: What season? Basketball.
- 15:21Speaker 3: So are you ready for Coach Mulkey?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Heck yeah. A little nervous? I can't wait. Nope. Not
- 15:26Speaker 2: at all? I was when I first heard it. Now
- 15:28Speaker 2: I'm not. Okay. Must have been that fever. She's just
- 15:30Speaker 2: a human, you know. Did she intimidate you a little bit? Nah,
- 15:33Speaker 2: she didn't. All right. We'll take a break. More OTB
- 15:36Speaker 2: when we come back here live from Rouse's. Off the bench.
- 15:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Go to centralplumbing.org. Centralplumbing.org. Go see our friends there. In
- 15:49Speaker 3: Baton Rouge, but also in Lafayette.
- 15:51Speaker 2: What? Yeah, that's right.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Not just here in the Baton Rouge area. Not just
- 15:53Speaker 3: here in the greater Baton Rouge area. They're also in Lafayette.
- 15:57Speaker 2: That's right. They are expanding. They're growing.
- 15:58Speaker 3: But you're still going to get the incredible customer service
- 16:00Speaker 3: that you've always gotten from Central Plumbing since the 1970s.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It's in emergencies. It's if you're looking to upgrade.
- 16:07Speaker 3: If you want to go tankless and never run out
- 16:10Speaker 3: of hot water, again, they've got you covered there as well.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Go to centralplumbing.org. That's right. Central Plumbing, centralplumbing.org. Your plumbing experts.
- 16:17Speaker 4: The name you think of for all your plumbing needs,
- 16:19Speaker 4: whether it's water lines, gas lines, it doesn't matter. It
- 16:22Speaker 4: also doesn't matter if it's residential, commercial. They can do
- 16:25Speaker 4: it for you. They have done it for me. Both
- 16:28Speaker 4: of my factory, they turned a warehouse that was like
- 16:31Speaker 4: four walls and a roof, and they turned it into
- 16:34Speaker 4: a full-blown food and beverage manufacturer.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Water lines, gas lines, boilers, high water pressure, you name it.
- 16:39Speaker 2: They're the best. Give them a call. Centralplumbing.org.
- 16:53Speaker 5: I fly like paper, get high like planes. If you
- 16:56Speaker 5: catch me at the border, I got visas in my net.
- 16:58Speaker 5: If you come around here, I'll make a more day.
- 17:01Speaker 5: I get one down in a second if you wait.
- 17:04Speaker 5: I fly like paper.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Get high like planes.
- 17:08Speaker 3: 2007 champs.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Purple and gold to the core. This is Off the
- 17:12Speaker 1: Bench with Hester and Flynn. Baton Rouge's go-to for all
- 17:16Speaker 1: things Louisiana sports.
- 17:22Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 17:26Speaker 3: OTB here live from Rouse's on Burbank and Lee. Jacob
- 17:33Speaker 3: Flynn and Cassie here, Pauly and Alondra back in studio,
- 17:37Speaker 3: downtown Baton Rouge, little Raising Cane's studio. And we're going
- 17:41Speaker 3: to look now at the college football weekend. We're going
- 17:44Speaker 3: to look at the slate of games. What is coming up?
- 17:47Speaker 3: What is coming up is the breakfast bar, I'm assuming. Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 3: the breakfast bar. I went and got a breakfast bar.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And I heard jamming in here because the playlist is
- 17:55Speaker 3: always on.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Always.
- 17:56Speaker 3: They were playing a little Brandy and Monica a little
- 17:59Speaker 3: bit earlier when we walked in here.
- 18:00Speaker 4: If you want to go grocery shopping somewhere and you
- 18:03Speaker 4: don't want to, like, tap your toe a little bit
- 18:06Speaker 4: and your knee just starts moving in and out a
- 18:08Speaker 4: little bit, you start dancing in the aisle, They were
- 18:10Speaker 4: playing Lucky by Britney Spears.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I didn't know that was still in the rotation anywhere.
- 18:15Speaker 4: I was unaware that it was in the rotation in
- 18:18Speaker 4: any type playlist.
- 18:20Speaker 2: But, my God, I think it's back. Because I was. Perfect.
- 18:25Speaker 2: To whoever forms the playlist.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Lucky by Britney Spears. A good one to add to
- 18:29Speaker 4: your playlist if you're looking for an absolute jam.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Like scooping some eggs and hash browns and breakfast sausage.
- 18:37Speaker 2: It was perfect. So come hang out. Come see us.
- 18:41Speaker 2: We'll be here all show long until 10 a.m. He's
- 18:44Speaker 2: so lucky. Matt says he's better. He's not contagious. Oh, no.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Never was.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Don't know about that. All right.
- 18:55Speaker 3: This weekend in the top 25 in college football, we'll
- 19:00Speaker 3: go over every matchup in the top 25. Some will
- 19:02Speaker 3: pass right over because they're not great games. Some we'll
- 19:05Speaker 3: talk a little bit about. Coming up on Saturday morning,
- 19:09Speaker 3: tomorrow morning, 11 a.m.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Central Time, besides LSU Auburn. We'll get there.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Pittsburgh and Miami. This one's going to be in Miami.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Pittsburgh 5-2, Miami 6-0. Miami a 19.5-point favorite, as they
- 19:24Speaker 3: are every single week because, well, they don't play anybody.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Indiana and Michigan, number six, Indiana. Traveling to Ann Arbor
- 19:33Speaker 3: to take on the Michigan Wolverines. Indiana a seven and
- 19:36Speaker 3: a half point favorite in this game. Michigan likely to
- 19:40Speaker 3: have a new starting quarterback. Carr going to be the quarterback.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Underwood on the bench. Uh-oh.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Got yanked, huh? Yeah. Holla at your boy. Got the hook.
- 19:49Speaker 2: They gave him a couple years. Gave him some time.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Did we dodge a bullet with that one? Feels like it.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Feels like we did, didn't we? Feels like it.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I think I'll take old Sammy right now.
- 19:59Speaker 2: We dodged a bullet with him and Sorsby. Oh, man.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Holy Brendan Sorsby. Yeah. I haven't thought about that name
- 20:08Speaker 2: in a hot minute. Look, I'll take Take Sam Leavitt
- 20:11Speaker 2: hopping around any day of the week. No question about it. Indiana?
- 20:16Speaker 2: Feel like it? Yeah. Michigan's at home.
- 20:18Speaker 4: It feels like coming off of a loss like that
- 20:21Speaker 4: from Indiana, I mean, literally six inches away from beating
- 20:25Speaker 4: Ohio State.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Maybe not even that. That was, oh, man. Who do
- 20:28Speaker 2: you put that on? The quarterback or receiver? Receiver. I
- 20:30Speaker 2: put it on the receiver. Receiver. I put it on
- 20:32Speaker 2: the quarterback a little bit. That ball was inbounds enough
- 20:35Speaker 2: for him to go stay inbounds. To have some awareness. Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 2: And you know me. I would love to say quarterback.
- 20:40Speaker 2: That's a tough– yeah, I know. Look, that's a tough play.
- 20:42Speaker 4: It is tough in that situation to have the overall
- 20:46Speaker 4: field awareness, presence.
- 20:48Speaker 2: He knew it. He knew it as soon as he
- 20:49Speaker 2: did it. He did it. You got to be better. Yeah.
- 20:53Speaker 2: As my high school coach would say, you got to
- 20:55Speaker 2: make that catch. Always. Look at that.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Katie said, how did y'all get to school so fast
- 21:10Speaker 3: to the boys in the group text? And my one
- 21:12Speaker 3: that was driving sent a picture of Fast and Furious
- 21:16Speaker 3: Paul Walker.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Okay. Don't love that. Good. Oh, it's fine. Don't love that. Oh, Jackson,
- 21:24Speaker 2: what are we doing here, buddy? Chill out. All right.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Let's go to number eight, Texas Tech traveling to Cincinnati.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Sure. Cal, this is a heated question. Heated ACC rivalry game. Obviously.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Cal traveling to number 23 SMU. Oh, my goodness. The
- 21:43Speaker 2: game's at 11 a.m. Central time? Yep. That's going to
- 21:47Speaker 2: be 9 a.m. body clock for Cal. Yep. That's fun.
- 21:51Speaker 4: We should figure out combined how many miles away are
- 21:56Speaker 4: both of the schools to the closest point of the Atlantic.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Sounds like a job for Claude. Yeah, it does. I think.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I think you'll actually have it pretty quickly.
- 22:07Speaker 3: You've got Rutgers traveling to number 24, Northwestern.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Sure.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Number two, BYU hosting central or actually on the road.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I thought they were hosting. They're on the road to
- 22:17Speaker 2: central Florida.
- 22:18Speaker 3: BYU is seven point favorite against central Florida, UCF on
- 22:22Speaker 3: the road, UCF three and three on the year one
- 22:25Speaker 3: and two in big 12 play. I mean, by that line,
- 22:29Speaker 3: maybe a little, uh, assuming a little letdown.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they gotta be right. Um, It's interesting.
- 22:37Speaker 4: The weird stinky lines this year, and I know they
- 22:39Speaker 4: usually do. They're stinky for a reason.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah. The weird stinky lines this year have kind of
- 22:43Speaker 2: all panned out. Yeah. That I remember. They really have.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Things that we're like, what are they seeing that we aren't? Remember, like,
- 22:51Speaker 4: Florida being favored over Ole Miss after Ole Miss beat LSU.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, what? Like, I don't know. Like,
- 22:57Speaker 2: LSU's really, really good. Yeah. And Florida housed them. Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And they did. They were right. I don't know. It's crazy. So, yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 2: they are obviously thinking of some sort of letdown.
- 23:11Speaker 3: All right, Michigan State traveling to number nine, UCLA. UCLA,
- 23:16Speaker 3: a 14-and-a-half-point favorite.
- 23:18Speaker 2: How about this one? Good football game.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Number 11, Tennessee traveling to take on 3-and-3 South Carolina
- 23:24Speaker 3: in Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina, two-and-a-half-point favorite.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Oh, geez. Marler set that line. He did. What is
- 23:33Speaker 2: going on here? They let him do it for his
- 23:34Speaker 2: wedding day. South Carolina plays one good game. One and
- 23:39Speaker 2: three in the SEC. They were favored over six and
- 23:42Speaker 2: one Tennessee. Well, I said it last week.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I don't think Tennessee's very good. I hadn't watched them
- 23:47Speaker 4: until last week. Marler texted me after the Tennessee-Bama game, said,
- 23:52Speaker 4: I hate you. Then he put, quote, I hadn't watched
- 23:55Speaker 4: Tennessee at all, but I know they're not very good.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah. End quote. That was my quote on radio last week. Well.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And it was true.
- 24:02Speaker 4: I hadn't really watched them. I didn't think they were
- 24:04Speaker 4: very good. I don't know if I still think that
- 24:08Speaker 4: or not.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah. After they dismantled Alabama. Two and a half point dog, though,
- 24:14Speaker 2: to South Carolina?
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a weird line. All right, we'll see if
- 24:17Speaker 3: that one plays out.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Is there an injury? We might have to come back
- 24:21Speaker 2: to that one. Did the coach get hospitalized? What's going on?
- 24:23Speaker 3: We might have to come back to that one. All right,
- 24:26Speaker 3: Texas A & M traveling to number 13, Alabama. Alabama
- 24:30Speaker 3: is minus 13 and a half in this game. A
- 24:34Speaker 3: & M' s pretty bad. They're 4-3 overall, 1-3 in the SEC.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I can't.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I wouldn't trust A & M to walk my dog
- 24:44Speaker 3: across the street.
- 24:46Speaker 4: 13.5 is a lot of points against an SEC opponent
- 24:49Speaker 4: that is, you know, supposed to be respected at least
- 24:52Speaker 4: year in, year out.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Like you said, I wouldn't bet A & M with
- 24:58Speaker 2: any amount of points. Right. I don't know if I
- 25:00Speaker 2: would bet.
- 25:00Speaker 4: It like the other way. I think I'd probably just
- 25:03Speaker 4: stay away from that game myself.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Because it is a lot of points, but I would
- 25:07Speaker 4: never put any of my hard-earned dollars on A &
- 25:11Speaker 4: M this year.
- 25:11Speaker 2: No. Not a chance. Like, if it was minus 21,
- 25:18Speaker 2: I wouldn't do it. I'm right there with you. If
- 25:22Speaker 2: it was 28, maybe.
- 25:23Speaker 3: They're just bad. They're not any good. And they quit
- 25:27Speaker 3: in games, which is, you know, not– I know Mike Elko.
- 25:31Speaker 3: We know Tommy– like, that's not who they– are as coaches,
- 25:35Speaker 3: but you turn on the tape and oof. Number 15,
- 25:39Speaker 3: Iowa traveling to Minnesota. That feels like a breakfast sausage game.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Number 21, Boise State traveling to 1-6 Washington State. Good God,
- 25:52Speaker 3: it's a friends and family game. Number 7, Ole Miss
- 25:56Speaker 3: traveling to number 19, Texas. Texas, a three and a
- 26:01Speaker 3: half point favorite?
- 26:04Speaker 2: Wow. Wow. Wow. Now, that is a stinky line. Who
- 26:13Speaker 2: are they? Yeah, okay. Ole Miss, Texas. Number 7, Ole Miss.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Challenge number 19, Texas. Texas, 3.5 points. That is doo-doo stinky.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I think I know how I'm betting that one.
- 26:25Speaker 4: They got me. I don't think Texas. I don't know if, like,
- 26:28Speaker 4: the whole get-right game matters to them.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Right. I don't think they're very good.
- 26:33Speaker 3: No.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I think they're talented. There's a difference between being talented
- 26:38Speaker 4: and good.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Yes. And Texas is very, very talented.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Now, unless they get this backup quarterback effect, if they
- 26:47Speaker 4: yank Arc and put the backup in, maybe they get
- 26:50Speaker 4: a boost from that. I just don't know. We've seen
- 26:53Speaker 4: Arc play well. We've never seen him consistently play well.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Right now, as we sit here at 730, it could change.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I'm parlaying Tennessee and Ole Miss right now.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Money line.
- 27:05Speaker 3: All right, you've got Vanderbilt traveling to number 12, Kentucky. Kentucky, 10.5-point favorite.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I like that game. I like that line. Number 16,
- 27:15Speaker 3: USC traveling to Wisconsin. USC, a three-point road favorite. You've
- 27:19Speaker 3: got Iowa State traveling to number 25, Arizona.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And then.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Number 14, Houston, traveling to number 10, Utah. Utah, a
- 27:28Speaker 3: six and a half point favorite in that game. I
- 27:30Speaker 3: actually like Houston to cover that one. I think it's
- 27:34Speaker 3: game day, I believe.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Houston. Yeah, that's the game day. Yes, Houston good.
- 27:41Speaker 3: They're six and one. Their one loss is, I mean...
- 27:44Speaker 3: Like a yard away from tying it up against Texas Tech.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:47Speaker 4: I mean, this game actually has some pretty big playoff implications,
- 27:50Speaker 4: doesn't it?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Like the Big 12. The Big 12, for sure.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Big 12's got an opportunity.
- 27:54Speaker 3: You know, the Holy War's going to happen with Utah
- 27:56Speaker 3: and BYU, so that's going to be a big one.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I did see that there was somebody talking about the
- 28:03Speaker 4: Big 12 might have a chance to get three people
- 28:05Speaker 4: in this year.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Like, I know, we've got to pump the brakes a
- 28:07Speaker 2: little bit. But there is.
- 28:11Speaker 4: There is a scenario that could play out where they could.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Utah and BYU playing each other, though.
- 28:20Speaker 4: BYU is holding a big win. They play each other.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Utah beats BYU. Houston beats Utah. There's a way that
- 28:27Speaker 4: it could play out where they could get three. I
- 28:28Speaker 4: don't know how good these teams are. I really haven't
- 28:30Speaker 4: watched Houston play. I heard that they just keep winning
- 28:33Speaker 4: and winning.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Wildly enough, I feel like every time I turn on
- 28:35Speaker 3: the TV when I'm on the road covering a game,
- 28:37Speaker 3: Houston's playing.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 28:39Speaker 2: And I see my guy Willie Fritz on the sideline.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Last couple games, they beat Oklahoma State 35-32. Oklahoma State
- 28:44Speaker 4: was ranked 18 at that time. I think they just
- 28:46Speaker 4: got done beating.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Oregon, I believe.
- 28:48Speaker 4: They had some good. Oklahoma State, not bad this year.
- 28:52Speaker 4: They beat Kansas State 35-16.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Oklahoma State lost to Houston and then Tulsa.
- 28:57Speaker 4: They beat Houston. They beat UCF 27-17. Their one loss
- 29:03Speaker 4: is to Texas Tech by two points, 28-26. Yeah, they
- 29:07Speaker 4: were going for two. They were just short of it, yeah.
- 29:10Speaker 4: That's a good, that is a pretty quality loss at least.
- 29:13Speaker 3: So that is the slate in the top 25 this weekend.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Ranked on ranked matchups. Just real quick, a little recap here. Well,
- 29:24Speaker 3: not many of them. Number seven, Ole Miss. Number 19, Texas.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And then that number 14, Houston versus number 10, Utah.
- 29:31Speaker 3: But some interesting, very interesting lines there. A couple of
- 29:35Speaker 3: games where the road team is a dog, even though
- 29:38Speaker 3: it feels like they're the better team. what do they
- 29:40Speaker 3: know nothing let's parlay them and let's win some money
- 29:43Speaker 3: all right we will take a break and of course
- 29:45Speaker 3: we didn't talk about one of the games involving a
- 29:47Speaker 3: top 25 team that was number 18 lsu traveling to
- 29:51Speaker 3: the plains to take on four and two auburn we'll
- 29:54Speaker 3: talk about that game when we come back here on
- 29:57Speaker 3: otb off the bench.
- 30:01Speaker 2: All right, go to TrashRangers.com.
- 30:02Speaker 3: TrashRangers.com is the website. And remember, a couple options for you. Residential, commercial, trash, pickup, service,

- 30:55Speaker 4: got the restroom trailers available there, too. So that's the

- 31:21Speaker 1: Like the legend of the phoenix Or ends with beginnings
- 31:29Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers This is Off The Bench.
- 31:34Speaker 5: The force from the beginning Love We've come.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Too far To give up Who.
- 31:45Speaker 2: We are But man All right, welcome back in.
- 31:51Speaker 3: OTB here live from Rouse's on Burbank and Lee.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Moving right along here in the.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Football weekend, a little football Friday here at Rouse's. Got
- 32:02Speaker 3: LSU traveling to the Plains a little bit later on
- 32:05Speaker 3: today to take on the Auburn Tigers tomorrow inside of Jordan-Hare.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Of course, you've got the Saints already in Paris. Been
- 32:12Speaker 3: waiting on the Steelers. I think the Steelers actually took
- 32:14Speaker 3: a red-eye yesterday, if I read right. That's dumb. It's
- 32:19Speaker 3: not smart.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You think so? I do think so.
- 32:22Speaker 3: The teams, have we not learned from the team from Australia?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was like a day before. They took
- 32:29Speaker 2: a red eye. I mean, they just got there today.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I read that they were going to take a
- 32:33Speaker 4: red eye and practice when they got there.
- 32:38Speaker 2: We did the same thing.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Now, we got there like a week ahead of time,
- 32:42Speaker 3: but you know how strength coaches are. Shout out to
- 32:44Speaker 3: my guy, Hurd. We got there, and he's like, we've
- 32:47Speaker 3: got to get the body moving. Got to get the
- 32:50Speaker 3: lactic acid moving. We're like, we just came off a
- 32:52Speaker 3: plane ride, you know. So, like, we should travel in suits.
- 32:56Speaker 3: So we're in our suits.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Are you serious?
- 32:59Speaker 3: We're in our suits. And he's like, got to get
- 33:03Speaker 3: the body moving. They had this weight room set up
- 33:05Speaker 3: at the place we were staying. And we're in our suits.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Swear to God, we're in our suits lifting.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Lifting.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Because our bags hadn't gotten there yet. Lifting in suits.
- 33:15Speaker 3: And we had a week before the game.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Norm made y'all travel in suits across the Atlantic Ocean?
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yeah. That's messed up. Pretty sure we did because we
- 33:30Speaker 2: had them on. Y'all didn't put them on to work out?
- 33:34Speaker 2: It was like, okay, sure. I've never played a football
- 33:37Speaker 2: game in London before. I would rather do that.
- 33:39Speaker 4: What would really piss me off is if you made
- 33:41Speaker 4: me fly to Paris a week before.
- 33:45Speaker 2: That would piss me off. Oh, see, I think I'd
- 33:47Speaker 2: like that better. Being away from your family for a week? Well,
- 33:50Speaker 2: I bet a lot of families. Like, my family, well,
- 33:53Speaker 2: I didn't have.
- 33:53Speaker 3: It was just Katie. We didn't have kids yet. But
- 33:55Speaker 3: she flew to the game when we played in London.
- 33:59Speaker 3: All right.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I would rather do what the Steelers did, I think. Ooh,
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'd rather. Maybe a day before, a day earlier.
- 34:07Speaker 4: But medical research does show that the Rams.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Will get their butts kicked in Australia. Listen to this.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Um okay so the rams was way a little bit
- 34:17Speaker 4: different it was way farther flight and we're talking what
- 34:22Speaker 4: 20 hours for them and nine hours for steelers maybe
- 34:26Speaker 4: maybe less um and they were a day later too
- 34:32Speaker 4: they were a day so they flew in and got
- 34:34Speaker 4: there the day before the game at least they're getting
- 34:36Speaker 4: there two days before the game so you do have
- 34:39Speaker 4: a little bit of time Now, I'd probably like to
- 34:41Speaker 4: get there like three days, but a whole seven days beforehand,
- 34:44Speaker 4: no thank you.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Especially civil unrest happening. Nah.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Nah.
- 34:52Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. It's just me. I'm a homebody, though.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Very much so. All right. You would like to be
- 34:58Speaker 2: there seven days before the game? Hell yeah. Hell yeah?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Get to go to Paris. Okay. What are you going
- 35:04Speaker 2: to do?
- 35:04Speaker 3: You know the last time I had a vacation?
- 35:10Speaker 2: Moby Dick was a minnow.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Yes. We stayed in an old castle an hour away
- 35:16Speaker 3: from London when we went.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It was awesome. You watched film? No.
- 35:20Speaker 3: No.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Went to pubs. Casinos. Yes, we did. It was awesome.
- 35:25Speaker 2: All right. Anyhow. Let's get to the LSU game. Then
- 35:28Speaker 2: we'll get to the Saints. Okay. LSU game. All right.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Got some stuff here. Going to ask you some questions, okay?
- 35:36Speaker 3: The first one's going to be, Can LSU carry what
- 35:40Speaker 3: it's built up from a week ago onto the road?
- 35:44Speaker 3: LSU 5-2, but as we know, 0-2 away from Tiger Stadium.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Haven't won in your last six chances on the road.
- 35:54Speaker 3: You beat Mississippi State 31-0. What is it about the
- 36:01Speaker 3: road for this team, and not just this team, last
- 36:04Speaker 3: year's team as well, that They've played well at times,
- 36:08Speaker 3: but they cannot finish with more points than their opponent
- 36:12Speaker 3: when the clock hits triple zero. Because it doesn't look
- 36:17Speaker 3: like there's, like, you know, communication issues.
- 36:21Speaker 4: It's easy to pin it on a road team. Let's
- 36:23Speaker 4: be honest. Like, yeah, the road thing sticks out. But
- 36:26Speaker 4: let's just look at this year because that's the only
- 36:30Speaker 4: fair thing to look at. We can't look at Brian
- 36:32Speaker 4: Kelly's time and his road. His road record doesn't mean
- 36:36Speaker 4: anything right now. Sure, it's a stat, and it is
- 36:40Speaker 4: something to hang on to. It's certainly a stat to think, man,
- 36:43Speaker 4: what's the deal? What are we doing right? What are
- 36:45Speaker 4: we doing wrong? I look at it, and if I
- 36:49Speaker 4: take the stadium away from it, I don't think that
- 36:52Speaker 4: we necessarily played any of those games poorly. Sam has
- 36:57Speaker 4: improved so much since that Ole Miss game. Like, I
- 36:59Speaker 4: would like to play that team again. But he has
- 37:02Speaker 4: improved so much at quarterback. since the last time he
- 37:05Speaker 4: was at Ole Miss.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Kentucky, I don't think we necessarily played poorly that game.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Either. We've had injuries that we've had to overcome.
- 37:16Speaker 4: And going on the road, you've been on the road
- 37:18Speaker 4: in two, you got the best shot from the team
- 37:21Speaker 4: and the crowd and the atmosphere that you can get
- 37:24Speaker 4: at those two places. And it's been really good. Kentucky's
- 37:27Speaker 4: a hard place to play for whatever reason. Maybe it's
- 37:29Speaker 4: not for every team, but for LSU it certainly is.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Yeah. And one, since we stole it with Devery Henderson.
- 37:37Speaker 2: We should have lost that one. We stole that game, right?
- 37:39Speaker 2: Bluegrass miracle.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And then you couple that with it being Lane Kiffin's
- 37:44Speaker 4: first year here.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Everybody wants to beat him. You couple that with Will Stein.
- 37:48Speaker 4: It's his first year there playing at night, the bourbon trail,
- 37:51Speaker 4: you name it. We ran into two quarterbacks that played
- 37:55Speaker 4: their asses off.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Ran into two quarterbacks that played at a very high
- 37:59Speaker 4: level of reading and what the defense was giving him.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Blake Baker brings a lot at you.
- 38:04Speaker 4: And there are things that he takes risks on, and
- 38:07Speaker 4: he will give up some things because he thinks the
- 38:10Speaker 4: odds are better that we're going to get to you
- 38:11Speaker 4: before you can get to him. And that's why we
- 38:14Speaker 4: love Blake Baker, and that's why he is so good.
- 38:16Speaker 4: You see guys in the NFL being a great. You
- 38:17Speaker 4: saw Dennis Allen yesterday be crazy aggressive for the Bears,
- 38:21Speaker 4: and it works.
- 38:22Speaker 2: And it does work for the most part.
- 38:23Speaker 4: You've got to play the quarterback position at a very
- 38:25Speaker 4: high level to take advantage of what Blake Baker does.
- 38:29Speaker 2: From a defensive schematic standpoint.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So what you did, you ran into two quarterbacks that
- 38:35Speaker 4: played at a very, very high level. I don't know
- 38:38Speaker 4: if Auburn's quarterback, if he's got that level of play
- 38:44Speaker 4: in him with his arm, with his legs.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a problem.
- 38:48Speaker 4: He is a problem, and it's not scrambles either. It
- 38:50Speaker 4: is called quarterback runs. It is getting the extra blocker,
- 38:54Speaker 4: and it creates issues. Your fits on defense have to
- 38:58Speaker 4: be perfect this week. Your play, how you're going to loop,
- 39:01Speaker 4: how you're going to play at the linebacker position has
- 39:04Speaker 4: got to be perfect.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Safety.
- 39:05Speaker 4: You've got to have a great safety game this week.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Everybody's got to be ready to make their fits, to
- 39:12Speaker 4: shed blockers, and to make good plays within the box.
- 39:15Speaker 2: So it's a problem.
- 39:18Speaker 4: And as an LSU fan, you'd be crazy to think
- 39:21Speaker 4: that Byron Brown's not going to get his– he's not
- 39:25Speaker 4: going to have some plays.
- 39:26Speaker 2: He's going to. Yeah, I mean... That's just what happens
- 39:28Speaker 2: when you get an extra blocker.
- 39:29Speaker 3: He leads the... team in passing, obviously, and rushing. He
- 39:32Speaker 3: has 459 rushing yards and five scores.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Like, you've got to know where he's at at all times,
- 39:39Speaker 3: but on third down, you've got to have a plan
- 39:42Speaker 3: in place.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Like, 459 rushing yards– He's a runner. He is a
- 39:51Speaker 3: game changer with his legs. He runs better than he passes.
- 39:56Speaker 2: For sure.
- 39:56Speaker 3: So you go into the game plan, and I would
- 40:00Speaker 3: assume it's going to be, hey, we're going to trust
- 40:03Speaker 3: our corners. We're going to put a lot on our
- 40:05Speaker 3: corners this week because we're going to add some numbers.
- 40:08Speaker 3: We're going to have some numbers in the box. Our safeties,
- 40:10Speaker 3: like Matt was just talking about, our nickel, they're going
- 40:13Speaker 3: to be in the box. Ty Benefield is going to
- 40:15Speaker 3: play linebacker this week. Even though he's tabbed as a nickel, Sam, star,
- 40:20Speaker 3: whatever the hell you want to call him, he's going
- 40:22Speaker 3: to be in the box.
- 40:24Speaker 2: And you have two good corners.
- 40:26Speaker 3: And you say, hey, guys, you're going to need some
- 40:28Speaker 3: of my highs after the game because we're going to
- 40:30Speaker 3: ask a lot of you. And those corners have to
- 40:34Speaker 3: be up for the challenge. And they have been so
- 40:35Speaker 3: far this year.
- 40:36Speaker 4: DJ Pickett, he has surprised me so much this year
- 40:39Speaker 4: about his willingness to get into tackles and to take
- 40:41Speaker 4: on blockers and put his nose in there.
- 40:43Speaker 2: It's been impressive.
- 40:44Speaker 4: And to give you all just a little bit of
- 40:46Speaker 4: comparison– about what kind of quarterback Auburn we're dealing with
- 40:52Speaker 4: this week. Byron Brown has rushed, just like Jake said,
- 40:54Speaker 4: has rushed for 459 yards this year. 459 yards as
- 40:59Speaker 4: a quarterback. To compare that, your Dylan Jones has rushed
- 41:03Speaker 4: for 566.
- 41:04Speaker 2: So he has.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Run for less than 100 yards more than the starting
- 41:09Speaker 4: quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. So that is the type
- 41:12Speaker 4: of quarterback we are about to go against. That is
- 41:14Speaker 4: the type of quarterback we are facing.
- 41:16Speaker 2: And.
- 41:18Speaker 2: That's what he wants to do first. And he.
- 41:21Speaker 4: Is accounting for so much yardage for them. He is
- 41:25Speaker 4: that engine, the motor that makes that offense run. And
- 41:28Speaker 4: you have to stop him, make him beat you with
- 41:34Speaker 4: his arm and not his legs. And it's tough to do.
- 41:36Speaker 4: It's really easy to say that, right? But it's really
- 41:39Speaker 4: hard to do it.
- 41:40Speaker 3: All right, we'll continue breaking down this game when we
- 41:43Speaker 3: come back. And, of course, as I said, we'll get
- 41:45Speaker 3: to the Steelers and the Saints, kind of some of
- 41:47Speaker 3: the NFL slate as well. You know we've got our
- 41:50Speaker 3: favorite games in our number three, what's the ticket, NFL
- 41:53Speaker 3: and college edition. Also, the little pontoon parlay, all that
- 41:57Speaker 3: coming your way. Stay locked in here to OTB.

- 43:40Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves, it's Off the
- 43:43Speaker 1: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 43:50Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 43:51Speaker 3: OTB live from Rouse's little football Friday here.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Burbank and Lee, come hang out.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Come see us as we continue getting you ready for
- 43:59Speaker 3: the football weekend. And we'll continue talking a little LSU
- 44:03Speaker 3: and Auburn stuff. Sam Leavitt had an incredibly clean game
- 44:08Speaker 3: last week, right? First game without an interception. He's gotten
- 44:11Speaker 3: better each and every week. Even in games he's had
- 44:13Speaker 3: a turnover, he has played a better quarterback game each
- 44:18Speaker 3: and every week.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Can he continue that?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Can he be that guy that we've seen over the
- 44:24Speaker 3: last couple weeks continue to get better?
- 44:25Speaker 2: Last week was his best week.
- 44:27Speaker 3: If he plays clean like he did a week ago,
- 44:30Speaker 3: I have a hard time finding a way that LSU
- 44:33Speaker 3: doesn't win this game.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it would.
- 44:39Speaker 4: If he continues to play the way he has, it's
- 44:41Speaker 4: going to take a heroic effort by Byron Brown to
- 44:43Speaker 4: beat you. And I'm not saying that he doesn't have
- 44:46Speaker 4: that heroic effort in him.
- 44:48Speaker 2: But Sam has.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Sam has started to play, to play better and better
- 44:55Speaker 2: and better.
- 44:55Speaker 4: And it's not just, you know, athletically, he's just playing
- 44:58Speaker 4: within the system, playing within, going through his progressions, going
- 45:02Speaker 4: through his reads. The offense has been really good. Again,
- 45:06Speaker 4: It hasn't been great yet, but it's been really good.
- 45:09Speaker 4: It's been very efficient. Dylan Jones has come on to
- 45:11Speaker 4: be an absolute star on the college football scene in the.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Nation, not just the SEC.
- 45:18Speaker 4: He is a college football star right now, I believe.
- 45:21Speaker 4: And it's one of those things that, yes, the LSU
- 45:26Speaker 4: offense has been impressive from a yardage standpoint, from a
- 45:29Speaker 4: scoring standpoint, but there is.
- 45:32Speaker 2: A lot left. to reach out and get for that
- 45:35Speaker 2: LSU offense.
- 45:36Speaker 4: There's a lot more plays to be made. There's a
- 45:38Speaker 4: lot more, uh, just really simple things, coachable things, making
- 45:42Speaker 4: the right mic declarations, having the right communication. And every
- 45:45Speaker 4: time something wrong happens in a game from a miscommunication standpoint, from,
- 45:50Speaker 4: you know, two weeks ago when there was all, there
- 45:52Speaker 4: was against three down, there's a missed assignment and one
- 45:55Speaker 4: guy runs free, a linebacker gets good, comes free and
- 45:58Speaker 4: makes the play at the line of scrimmage. Like, Every
- 46:00Speaker 4: time that happens, it is a coachable and it is
- 46:03Speaker 4: a teachable moment for that LSU offense. And I feel
- 46:06Speaker 4: like the coaching staff has done a very good job
- 46:10Speaker 4: of addressing issues, addressing problems that have shown up time
- 46:14Speaker 4: and time again, and fixing it. So, yeah, I think
- 46:18Speaker 4: if Sam continues to play and that offense continues to
- 46:21Speaker 4: improve like they have been each and every week, that
- 46:23Speaker 4: it's going to be tough for Auburn to win this
- 46:26Speaker 4: game unless there's some sort of heroic effort on the
- 46:28Speaker 4: other side.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I'm right there with you. Sam Levitt plays clean.
- 46:31Speaker 3: He plays like he has with the way the receivers
- 46:33Speaker 3: and Jackson Harris are going to be available as played.
- 46:36Speaker 3: You like the good Tigers. All right, coming back your way,
- 46:38Speaker 3: hour number two.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Off the bench.
