- 0:03Dave Hamilton: for Wednesday, September 23rd, National Great American Pot Pie Day, 2026.
- 0:11Dave Hamilton: I love pot pie.
- 0:12Shannon Jean: I love me some pot pie. So do I. Yep.
- 0:14Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 0:15Shannon Jean: Chicken pot pie, I think, is the best.
- 0:17Dave Hamilton: That's my take. Okay. Yeah. I like chicken pot pie. That's fine. Yeah. I'll take that.
- 0:22Shannon Jean: Yeah. Yeah. You take that?
- 0:24Dave Hamilton: That's good. It's like tis the season for pot pie. Because I actually think
- 0:27Dave Hamilton: that- Yes. The 23rd- Not a summer meal. Yes.
- 0:30Dave Hamilton: No, not usually. Although, although when I get home from a gig sometimes- Yes.
- 0:37Dave Hamilton: Having a pot pie, like, you know, just one of those, like, the cheap frozen,
- 0:41Dave Hamilton: not the fancy ones- The frozen ones. But the frozen ones. Yes.
- 0:43Dave Hamilton: You just heat up and then you can, you got like some salty protein.
- 0:47Shannon Jean: Oh, man. so good the
- 0:48Dave Hamilton: Gravy the gravy it's all the things that you want after like yeah,
- 0:53Dave Hamilton: it's comfort food well it's comfort food but i've been you know with a gig i
- 0:57Dave Hamilton: basically drive somewhere and then go
- 1:00Dave Hamilton: like run a marathon while solving math problems in my head and singing right
- 1:05Dave Hamilton: like so there's a massive physical and mental exertion to do a gig i love it but it it's a lot,
- 1:12Dave Hamilton: you know and to come home and have that just like you know melt your brain food
- 1:17Dave Hamilton: is is a is a good thing so that,
- 1:19Dave Hamilton: is i agree greetings and welcome to business brain folks the show where we take

- 1:58Dave Hamilton: for now here in durham new hampshire i'm dave hamilton.
- 2:01Shannon Jean: And northern california still here i'm shannon gene happy uh whatever day we're
- 2:08Shannon Jean: recording on monday but happy wednesday when this
- 2:09Dave Hamilton: Comes out yeah yeah happy wednesday yeah i guess i should say i'm back in durham
- 2:13Dave Hamilton: new hampshire i was in new york most of last week for podcast movement.
- 2:19Shannon Jean: Nice. How was that?
- 2:22Dave Hamilton: You know, it was interesting. It was the first time somebody's going to yell
- 2:28Dave Hamilton: at me for having this conversation, but that's OK.
- 2:31Dave Hamilton: It was the first time they had done it in New York.
- 2:34Shannon Jean: And they do two shows a year.
- 2:36Dave Hamilton: Well, yes. And they've sort of they've they've arranged it so that the spring
- 2:42Dave Hamilton: one coincides both temporally and physically with South by Southwest.
- 2:48Dave Hamilton: It's not part of South by Southwest, but it happens in Austin at the same time as South by Southwest.
- 2:54Dave Hamilton: I see. That's never been my favorite thing because if you, for someone who attends
- 2:59Dave Hamilton: South by Southwest, it's like, well, now I have to split my time between two
- 3:03Dave Hamilton: parallel conferences, not the best.
- 3:05Dave Hamilton: Just, you know, and also for the people who don't attend South by Southwest,
- 3:09Dave Hamilton: Austin's super expensive to visit during South by. So there's that.
- 3:15Dave Hamilton: I guess this is going to be me complaining about podcast movement.
- 3:18Shannon Jean: No, it's just an observation. I'm going to tie in.
- 3:22Dave Hamilton: I have something I want to talk about. I think there is a tie in.
- 3:25Dave Hamilton: But this first one in New York, it's the organizers of this wanted to move it to New York for their...
- 3:36Dave Hamilton: I think part of it is the,
- 3:41Dave Hamilton: charm. Charm's not the right wing. I see.
- 3:46Shannon Jean: Legitimacy.
- 3:48Dave Hamilton: The legitimacy of having a conference in New York.
- 3:52Dave Hamilton: It's a big deal. I get that. Also very expensive in general to be in New York.
- 3:57Dave Hamilton: And then for this particular, for last week, it was Fashion Week as well.
- 4:02Dave Hamilton: Fashion Week was just starting or beginning. I can't remember.
- 4:04Dave Hamilton: But it made everything super expensive.
- 4:07Dave Hamilton: It was fine. Here's the thing. And I've seen this happen three times.
- 4:13Dave Hamilton: And this is the third time with podcast conferences specifically.
- 4:17Dave Hamilton: I've seen it happen three times.
- 4:19Dave Hamilton: But it happens with every conference except Paul was smart enough not to do
- 4:23Dave Hamilton: it with Macworld Expo and not to give in, which I really appreciate it.
- 4:27Dave Hamilton: And at the time anyway, I think it was really good for Macworld Expo.
- 4:29Dave Hamilton: So the thing is, somebody will start a podcast conference for creators, right?
- 4:35Dave Hamilton: And it's great. Love it. You know, like, and if they do well and every one of
- 4:40Dave Hamilton: them has done well of the three that are kind of, you know, they're,
- 4:43Dave Hamilton: and they all have different names and whatever, but there's been three different
- 4:45Dave Hamilton: sets of organizers. Right. So, um.
- 4:50Dave Hamilton: Make it for creators and really make it for creators so that you've got like
- 4:54Dave Hamilton: conference sessions that are teaching things that creators like you and me want to do.
- 4:59Dave Hamilton: And this happens in other industries, too. So, I mean, I think there's a meta lesson here.
- 5:02Dave Hamilton: And then it becomes the gravity of an industry.
- 5:07Dave Hamilton: Right. It becomes the meeting point of the industry because all the creators are there.
- 5:12Dave Hamilton: And then people like me show up. Now, yes, of course, here I am on a podcast
- 5:16Dave Hamilton: saying this. So, of course, yes, I'm a creator, too.
- 5:18Dave Hamilton: But then also we run BackBeat Media where we manage the sponsorships for podcasts.
- 5:25Dave Hamilton: And so people like me show up because I want to meet new creators.
- 5:29Dave Hamilton: But I also want to meet people who are buying ads and looking for all of that stuff.
- 5:34Dave Hamilton: And they all show up too. It becomes a dual purpose event.
- 5:40Shannon Jean: Sounds like a win-win.
- 5:41Dave Hamilton: It does. But here's what happens. And I'm going to make some assumptions that I'm sure are wrong.
- 5:47Dave Hamilton: So my apologies to everybody that i'm going to put words in your mouth now but
- 5:50Dave Hamilton: what happens is the organizers say hey wait a minute,
- 5:54Dave Hamilton: we're putting on a conference for creators and now all the business people are also like coming to town
- 6:02Dave Hamilton: and doing a thing in parallel a lot of them aren't even buying tickets to the
- 6:06Dave Hamilton: event because they don't need them like people who are buying ads what do they
- 6:09Dave Hamilton: need to buy a ticket to the event they just want.
- 6:11Shannon Jean: To be there to meet the people
- 6:13Dave Hamilton: That are there to meet the people that are there and you do that and all the
- 6:15Dave Hamilton: coffee shops and we We all get really good at like figuring out where we're
- 6:18Dave Hamilton: going to meet and all those things and,
- 6:21Dave Hamilton: and and then what the organizers say well we should cater to those people to
- 6:27Dave Hamilton: part of that is is is is well served and and actually to both parts of it are
- 6:33Dave Hamilton: well served one of them is these.
- 6:36Dave Hamilton: Man, my audio is going to be interesting today. You can still hear me, right? Yes. Great.
- 6:45Dave Hamilton: So part of it is, well, these people are going to be here. We should put on sessions for them too.
- 6:49Dave Hamilton: And then the other part is, well, these people, we could charge more because,
- 6:53Dave Hamilton: they're the ones actually bringing the money to the industry.
- 6:56Dave Hamilton: Yeah, business track. Yeah, neither one of these things is bad.
- 7:00Dave Hamilton: I like it all makes sense, except that now the conference starts to lose its identity.
- 7:06Dave Hamilton: And I've seen it happen three times and it starts to be this bifurcated thing.
- 7:11Dave Hamilton: And it's like, well, we want to cater to the creators, but the other people
- 7:15Dave Hamilton: are the ones spending money.
- 7:16Dave Hamilton: And so the creators aren't going to be the ones to buy a session on stage.
- 7:20Dave Hamilton: Right. They'll only do earned sessions, but we could sell panels to the business side of things.
- 7:28Dave Hamilton: And again, none of these things are bad, but what happens is it becomes an event
- 7:33Dave Hamilton: that doesn't know what it is anymore, and it becomes less valuable for everyone.
- 7:38Dave Hamilton: I see. And that happened to podcast movement over time, and there were other
- 7:45Dave Hamilton: reasons. Like, I mean, COVID was not kind to the conference industry at all.
- 7:49Dave Hamilton: Like, there was all kinds of things.
- 7:51Dave Hamilton: But that happened, and then there was an acquisition and sort of a merger slash
- 7:56Dave Hamilton: acquisition kind of thing that happened.
- 7:58Dave Hamilton: So there's new people organizing and running podcast movement.
- 8:03Dave Hamilton: And these new people, what they used to do – it's a company called Sounds Profitable.
- 8:06Dave Hamilton: We are a member of Sounds Profitable.
- 8:09Dave Hamilton: What they used to do is –.
- 8:11Dave Hamilton: They would come into podcast movement and offer space for us,
- 8:16Dave Hamilton: the organized, like the business people to meet, which is the one thing we need, right?
- 8:21Dave Hamilton: Yeah, that would be good. I mean, that's the primary thing we need.
- 8:24Dave Hamilton: Yeah. And now that they're running it, they split it into two different events.
- 8:28Dave Hamilton: So Monday, Tuesday was this business summit. Thursday, Friday was the creator
- 8:33Dave Hamilton: thing. Wednesday was the IAB upfront, which is a separate event.
- 8:36Dave Hamilton: So it made sense not to host anything on that day. And it was all fine.
- 8:40Dave Hamilton: But the one comment I heard from literally everybody except one person that
- 8:47Dave Hamilton: we met with, and I would call that person an anomaly, but we won't.
- 8:51Dave Hamilton: We'll say that it was all but one, was there's no longer a place for us to meet.
- 8:57Dave Hamilton: And everybody had to figure out coffee shops. And it was like,
- 8:59Dave Hamilton: OK, so, yeah, I'm worried that this event is heading into a direction where
- 9:07Dave Hamilton: it might wind up being replaced by something else.
- 9:10Dave Hamilton: Again, which is what has happened, you know, every other time that this like
- 9:14Dave Hamilton: evolution of the event has evolved.
- 9:17Dave Hamilton: And I I've sort of had this conversation with the organizers of podcast movement. I know them well.
- 9:22Dave Hamilton: They're going to hear this either before or after I have a private conversation
- 9:27Dave Hamilton: with them. But but like I'm worried about what's happening. And what's interesting is.
- 9:34Dave Hamilton: During the event, they were very bullish on it. They're like,
- 9:36Dave Hamilton: everybody loves this. And I'm like, this is interesting because literally every
- 9:39Dave Hamilton: person. person I'm meeting with is telling me how much they hate this.
- 9:42Dave Hamilton: But so like, so I want to find out who it is that loves this and what I'm missing,
- 9:48Dave Hamilton: you know, and what the other people that I met with are missing.
- 9:50Dave Hamilton: Cause there's, there's clearly value here.
- 9:53Dave Hamilton: I got to figure out what that value is. And, and, and I think there's like in
- 9:58Dave Hamilton: any industry, this is an important thing. Like when you're going to a conference, figure out who is it for,
- 10:04Dave Hamilton: What is the value that it is that the organizers are intending to provide and
- 10:09Dave Hamilton: make sure to leverage as much of that as you can.
- 10:12Dave Hamilton: And then any other value that you can just create because you're you and,
- 10:18Dave Hamilton: you know, there's other people there and you can do your thing.
- 10:21Dave Hamilton: Right. So all of those, I think, are necessary to make it worthwhile.
- 10:25Dave Hamilton: A hundred percent. Yeah.
- 10:27Shannon Jean: And we've done episodes on conferences before and we're high.
- 10:31Shannon Jean: We're big proponents of going to them because it can be really valuable.
- 10:34Shannon Jean: But if you don't go with a plan, you're in big trouble.
- 10:38Shannon Jean: So we'll link that in the show notes, that episode too.
- 10:42Shannon Jean: I highly recommend you listen to it about how to pregame, how to prep,
- 10:46Shannon Jean: how to follow up a lot. There's a whole system to being successful at a conference,
- 10:50Shannon Jean: and it does not include just walking around without a plan.
- 10:53Dave Hamilton: No, you've got to have a plan before you get there and then also be ready for
- 10:59Dave Hamilton: the serendipitous moments to adjust your plan, right?
- 11:02Dave Hamilton: Yes, correct. And just for clarity, we had a great week there. We came in with a plan.
- 11:09Dave Hamilton: We executed our plan. We did all the things that we said to do.
- 11:15Dave Hamilton: And even though the people we met with were a little bit confused,
- 11:20Dave Hamilton: and candidly so were we, a little confused about what the direction of this
- 11:23Dave Hamilton: event is, we still made it.
- 11:26Dave Hamilton: It was still the gravity that we needed this time.
- 11:29Dave Hamilton: I'm a little worried about it being the gravity next time.
- 11:32Dave Hamilton: Right. Because I don't know that other people are going to come,
- 11:35Dave Hamilton: but you know, that's the part.
- 11:36Shannon Jean: Yes. And that talking about having a plan, it's not just for you.
- 11:39Shannon Jean: If you're, especially if you're bringing a team of people there.
- 11:42Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 11:43Shannon Jean: You have to have that planned for them. They have to follow what,
- 11:48Shannon Jean: okay, here's how we, how do we measure success at this event?
- 11:52Shannon Jean: Whether you're exhibiting, if it's getting leads, if it's making connections,
- 11:57Shannon Jean: whether you're showing up, okay, we're going to go walk and we're going to meet
- 11:59Shannon Jean: these people. And these are the meetings we have set up.
- 12:02Shannon Jean: You have to pregame it so everybody's on the same page about what you want to achieve at this.
- 12:07Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah. It's like so many other things that we talk about here.
- 12:11Dave Hamilton: What is your definition of success and then and then engineer for that so and
- 12:17Dave Hamilton: i think we have some i think we have another topic that's gonna yeah i want to talk.
- 12:21Shannon Jean: There's a there's a really good point i think it adds that fits well with that
- 12:24Shannon Jean: love that we can talk about
- 12:26Dave Hamilton: We're about to do that the next thing that we're about to do though is we want
- 12:30Dave Hamilton: to tell you about our sponsors,
- 12:33Dave Hamilton: Here's the uncomfortable math of running a business. All it takes is one weak
- 12:37Dave Hamilton: password to open the door to everything else.
- 12:40Dave Hamilton: And our sponsor, Keeper, is a way to close that door.
- 12:44Dave Hamilton: Importing everything from your old password managers is painless. I tried it.
- 12:49Dave Hamilton: And their reused password detection pointed me straight at the ones I needed to fix.
- 12:55Dave Hamilton: Keeper is a password manager that creates strong, unique passwords for all your
- 13:00Dave Hamilton: accounts, stores them securely in one place and logs you in automatically across
- 13:06Dave Hamilton: all your devices, right?
- 13:07Dave Hamilton: So you never have to remember, guess, or worry about getting locked out of your accounts again.
- 13:13Dave Hamilton: That's the charmed life, folks. One fewer thing keeping you up at night.
- 13:18Dave Hamilton: And right now, Keeper is offering 60% off the personal and family plans at KeeperSecurity.com slash brain.
- 13:26Dave Hamilton: This incredible offer is only available for you podcast listeners, right?
- 13:30Dave Hamilton: That's KeeperSecurity.com slash brain for 60% off personal and family plans.
- 13:34Dave Hamilton: And of course, if you're running a team at work, you got to check out Keeper's business plans.
- 13:40Dave Hamilton: Just make sure you use our link so they know we sent you.
- 13:43Dave Hamilton: KeeperSecurity.com slash brain. Go check it out. I think you're going to like
- 13:46Dave Hamilton: it. And our thanks to Keeper for sponsoring this episode.
- 13:50Dave Hamilton: And if you run a business that uses subscriptions, you know the ritual,
- 13:54Dave Hamilton: right? You log into the dashboard, you export a CSV, you open a spreadsheet,
- 13:58Dave Hamilton: you squinted it until the numbers confess.
- 14:00Dave Hamilton: So I tried our sponsor, Perplexity Computer.
- 14:04Dave Hamilton: I connected it to the WordPress WooCommerce store behind our Mac GeekGab Premium
- 14:09Dave Hamilton: subscriptions for the other podcasts I do.
- 14:11Dave Hamilton: And I asked for reports, graphs, in fact, new sales, renewals, one-time purchases.
- 14:16Dave Hamilton: It built them quickly, and the whole thing was smooth and flawless.
- 14:21Dave Hamilton: This is how it's supposed to be.
- 14:23Dave Hamilton: And here's the smart part. Computer isn't locked into one AI model.
- 14:28Dave Hamilton: It orchestrates all the leading models behind the scenes and sends each step
- 14:33Dave Hamilton: of your project to the one that's right for your job.
- 14:37Dave Hamilton: You tell it what you need done, and then you get out of the way.
- 14:41Dave Hamilton: That's the charmed life. skipping the digging and going straight to the decisions
- 14:45Dave Hamilton: and the data shown the way that I wanted it shown.
- 14:49Dave Hamilton: For a limited time, you, our listeners, can try Perplexity Computer for free.
- 14:54Dave Hamilton: Head to pplx.ai slash brain.
- 14:59Dave Hamilton: That's pplx.ai slash brain to try computer today.
- 15:04Dave Hamilton: Most AI tools are still answering questions while Perplexity Computer is completing
- 15:08Dave Hamilton: full projects. Go check it out.
- 15:11Dave Hamilton: I think you're going to be as impressed as I was and our thanks to perplexity
- 15:14Dave Hamilton: computer for sponsoring this episode.
- 15:17Dave Hamilton: All right, Shannon, what do you got?
- 15:18Shannon Jean: Okay, so one of my favorite quotes from, there's quite a few,
- 15:22Shannon Jean: but one of my favorites from Steve Jobs is he says, you can't plan on meeting
- 15:27Shannon Jean: the person that's gonna change your life.
- 15:30Shannon Jean: And it ties in so well with these conferences and events is you have to get out there
- 15:36Shannon Jean: and be on site, you know, in real life and meet and get out of your bubble because
- 15:43Shannon Jean: I guarantee you, you're gonna meet somebody that changes your life.
- 15:46Shannon Jean: But you can't plan on it. You just have to be around and talk and post in public
- 15:52Shannon Jean: and go to these shows and share what's going on in your life.
- 15:56Shannon Jean: And push yourself out of this tunnel vision of, I got to get this stuff done
- 16:00Shannon Jean: today and this is what I'm doing, da, da, da.
- 16:03Shannon Jean: Of course, you have to give yourself time to do that. But time shift and expand your network.
- 16:09Shannon Jean: Expand the people that you're talking with every day, even if it's online.
- 16:14Shannon Jean: Those people, like we're recording four episodes this week because I'm flying
- 16:18Shannon Jean: to New Orleans to meet with 10 people I met on X two and a half years ago.
- 16:22Shannon Jean: And this is our third trip that we've gone on together. I love that.
- 16:25Shannon Jean: So, and those guys definitely changed my life because I had no idea what I was
- 16:29Shannon Jean: doing and they really helped form what I do now, my business. Yeah.
- 16:37Shannon Jean: I often come back to that phrase because I'll meet somebody and I'll talk.
- 16:40Shannon Jean: I'm just like, man, this person's impactful. I met somebody last week that I
- 16:45Shannon Jean: think is going to be really impactful to me, and I met them at a conference in Vegas.
- 16:50Shannon Jean: And so it just ties in really well is having a really open mind about who you're going to meet.
- 16:57Dave Hamilton: Well, and just have conversations with everybody. Yes. I am an introvert who
- 17:04Dave Hamilton: has learned how not to be shy.
- 17:06Dave Hamilton: Most of the time but my default would be just like hole up yeah exactly i'm
- 17:13Dave Hamilton: really good at that you know.
- 17:15Shannon Jean: Especially going to a show if i don't have a plan oh and i'm just like don't
- 17:20Shannon Jean: talk to me i'm gonna do i'm gonna
- 17:21Shannon Jean: go this but if if you force yourself to talk and get out there so much
- 17:26Dave Hamilton: Better it it is better and it's interesting one of the things that we we did
- 17:31Dave Hamilton: not have this year at podcast movement which we've had every other year
- 17:35Dave Hamilton: is because it was in new york nobody stayed at the same hotel everybody had
- 17:38Dave Hamilton: things to do at night lots of distraction right so yes what has previously happened
- 17:43Dave Hamilton: is the hotel bar has become sort of the watering hole of the industry
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: every night from about 8 p.m until it closes right yeah and so you go out to
- 17:53Dave Hamilton: dinner you do your thing and you come back from dinner and every year it'd be
- 17:57Dave Hamilton: like okay the only thing i want to do right now is go to my room.
- 18:02Dave Hamilton: But i cannot do that until i do one lap through the hotel bar and i will plan
- 18:08Dave Hamilton: a route through the hotel bar that like,
- 18:11Dave Hamilton: almost ensures i will run into no one right you know just to like check my own
- 18:15Dave Hamilton: box like i did it i tried and yeah
- 18:17Dave Hamilton: invariably it'll be like dang it i see somebody over there i really need to
- 18:22Dave Hamilton: talk with that person and i'll i'll force myself to do But this year, that was not the case.
- 18:26Dave Hamilton: There was no hotel bar, right? And so what happened is we were...
- 18:31Dave Hamilton: We booked late dinners for us and our team and anybody that we were bringing to dinner with us.
- 18:37Dave Hamilton: And there was always cocktail parties, you know, before dinner.
- 18:42Dave Hamilton: And there was one night where one cocktail party and it was loud and like noisy
- 18:47Dave Hamilton: and hot. And we're like, you know, we could just go to dinner now.
- 18:50Dave Hamilton: And Skylar who works for me and was there with me, turned to me and she's like,
- 18:55Dave Hamilton: yeah, but you know, there's no hotel bar.
- 18:57Dave Hamilton: Like we, when we, when we sit down at dinner our night is finished in terms
- 19:03Dave Hamilton: of networking and she said so
- 19:05Dave Hamilton: we're here we paid a lot of money to come here we got to go to that other cocktail
- 19:10Dave Hamilton: party before we give ourselves permission to essentially retire for the evening
- 19:15Dave Hamilton: i mean even though it was you know dinner and and.
- 19:19Dave Hamilton: She was a hundred percent right and as soon as you know and we kept reminding
- 19:22Dave Hamilton: each other of this throughout the the week it was like yeah we got to go we
- 19:25Dave Hamilton: got you got to go to the next cocktail party as much as yeah as much as we don't want to,
- 19:31Dave Hamilton: we you know we do want to it's just i find once i'm there.
- 19:35Shannon Jean: Yeah i find that once you're there you're like oh this is cool and i got to
- 19:38Shannon Jean: this and i had something to eat or whatever and i had not i had a drink it's
- 19:42Shannon Jean: very different but the thought of going
- 19:44Dave Hamilton: That's it is.
- 19:45Shannon Jean: Often very easy to go you know what ah i've already been to one of these i'm
- 19:49Shannon Jean: probably not going to meet
- 19:50Dave Hamilton: Anybody check the box i'm gonna go back.
- 19:51Shannon Jean: And take my take my shoes off and relax.
- 19:54Dave Hamilton: And that's it.
- 19:55Shannon Jean: But yeah, because, so yeah, you got to push yourself. You got to go.
- 19:58Shannon Jean: You just don't know who you're going to meet, when you're going to meet them. And,
- 20:04Shannon Jean: If you flip it, is that you could be the person that changes somebody else's life as well.
- 20:09Dave Hamilton: Exactly. Exactly. And that has happened. And it's wonderful.
- 20:13Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 20:14Dave Hamilton: No, it's great.
- 20:15Shannon Jean: Because it brings a whole other type of value.
- 20:16Dave Hamilton: We were at one party where I was just literally like I had gone and like worked
- 20:20Dave Hamilton: and like worked the room and talked to people.
- 20:23Dave Hamilton: And I was standing there. And there was like a little event going on that I was sort of watching.
- 20:28Dave Hamilton: And somebody came up to me and they're like, hey, we talked a couple of years ago.
- 20:31Dave Hamilton: I think we're ready to work together. we really should talk and it was like
- 20:34Dave Hamilton: man this is weird like i was gonna reach out to you two weeks ago and thought
- 20:38Dave Hamilton: yeah we lost the opportunity because we said no two years ago right and here they are finding me
- 20:45Dave Hamilton: at a conference and like targeting me it's like oh wait a minute like this happened
- 20:51Dave Hamilton: because i was standing in the room like usually you got to do a little more
- 20:55Dave Hamilton: than that but being there is half the battle,
- 20:58Dave Hamilton: skylar absolutely a quote yesterday after we got back,
- 21:02Dave Hamilton: opportunities dance with those already on the dance floor yes that's absolutely true that's it yeah.
- 21:09Shannon Jean: Yeah you have to be there you
- 21:10Dave Hamilton: Gotta show up gotta show up yeah yeah all right yeah.
- 21:14Shannon Jean: But go back and listen to that episode about uh trade shows conferences there's
- 21:18Shannon Jean: a lot of good takeaways uh on that how to prep how to prepare and how to do a post-mortem after
- 21:23Dave Hamilton: It we'll put it we'll put a link in the show notes what's the uh i mean i think
- 21:26Dave Hamilton: it's pretty obvious that the big takeaway way is you've got to show up and engage
- 21:31Dave Hamilton: with people in order to keep moving your business forward.
- 21:36Shannon Jean: Yeah, to keep expanding that network. I agree 100%.
- 21:40Shannon Jean: And we're going to create a business blueprint about that and give you some
- 21:44Shannon Jean: steps to walk you through how to do it, how to prep for these shows and everything.
- 21:49Shannon Jean: And you can find that at businessbrain.show slash blueprints.
- 21:53Shannon Jean: That'll be up here. And you can get all the blueprints for previous episodes
- 21:57Shannon Jean: as well. Love it. We post them every week.
