- 0:00Speaker 1: Wow. Donald. Wow. That's all I know is wow. And
- 0:04Speaker 1: on a day when we have Neil Flynn on, like,
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm all excited. I've been pounding energy drinks and here
- 0:11Speaker 1: I am. I'm ready to go. And know, Donald Fazon,
- 0:14Speaker 1: do you want to tell everyone why you're so late?
- 0:16Speaker 2: I made a mistake and tried to download the new
- 0:21Speaker 2: Apple whatever it is. Yeah, the software two hours before.
- 0:29Speaker 2: This computer it's pretty old. It's a MacBook Pro. But
- 0:33Speaker 2: it's an old computer. You know, it's an older model
- 0:35Speaker 2: of the MacBook Pro.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Right now?
- 0:38Speaker 3: So I am now twenty minutes later.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, have Mary lay. We got Neil Flynn. He's like
- 0:42Speaker 1: sitting in a holding room.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 3: We put him in the holding We put him all
- 0:45Speaker 3: in the holding cell.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 1: They put Neil in a holding cell and he's just
- 0:48Speaker 1: sitting there. He's probably gonna keep, probably gonna walk out soon.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I hope Neil doesn't walk out. First of all, how's
- 0:54Speaker 2: everybody doing?
- 0:55Speaker 1: We were just chatting. We had a great chat waiting
- 0:58Speaker 1: for you.
- 0:58Speaker 3: What were you chatting about?
- 1:00Speaker 1: We were talking about just our lives and what's happening,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and how Joelle has a huge Twitter following. I didn't
- 1:07Speaker 1: know about.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah, did This just happened because if the podcast or no.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Joelle, Joelle, what's your handle? Should we should blow it
- 1:14Speaker 1: up even more?
- 1:15Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:15Speaker 6: Yeah, my handle is at Joel Monique on the twitters
- 1:18Speaker 6: and the Instagrams. And I was a writer before I
- 1:21Speaker 6: came to you guys, and I would do a lot
- 1:23Speaker 6: of critiquing of like television shows and movies. I think
- 1:28Speaker 6: my Watchmen interviews are probably one I'm most famous for.
- 1:31Speaker 6: Toronto International Film Festival just retweeted those yesterday. But yeah,
- 1:34Speaker 6: come talk to me about nerdy and political things.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's good times.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Well you're you're you're a Watchmen fan?
- 1:41Speaker 7: Oh fuck it?
- 1:42Speaker 6: From the graphic novel era, the TV show really killed it?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Did you not like the movie?
- 1:47Speaker 6: The movie was my introduction, and I find that it
- 1:49Speaker 6: has some things that are very intriguing and interesting about it,
- 1:52Speaker 6: but overall, I don't think it holds up to like
- 1:55Speaker 6: the quality that is the original graphic novel.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Right, the graphic novel has more.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And I love the TV show Man. I thought that
- 2:01Speaker 1: was incredible and brilliant.
- 2:03Speaker 6: They want a Peabody this morning.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And so relevant to today when you see these, when
- 2:07Speaker 1: you see what's a what's happening? In the news and
- 2:10Speaker 1: also like cops with their face mess on. I can't
- 2:15Speaker 1: help but think of watching The Watchmen. I was like, wow, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and I saw someone with an article that was like
- 2:21Speaker 1: Watchman was just a few months too early or something
- 2:24Speaker 1: like that.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Someone, Yeah, they got it right, they got it right,
- 2:26Speaker 2: they predicted it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Listen, I would love to banter with you and tell
- 2:30Speaker 1: you how much I smell because I forgot to put
- 2:32Speaker 1: on deodorant and uh and I'm I'm glad that we're
- 2:34Speaker 1: on a zoom call. So you guys aren't offended, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: we got Neil Flynn sitting on all right.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Well, then hold on one second. How about this stories show?
- 2:44Speaker 1: We made about a bunch of.
- 2:51Speaker 8: The stories.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So you know, I don't think that you deserve to
- 3:08Speaker 1: five six seven eight when you're this late.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I did it already, so I know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But I just want to submit to the to the
- 3:14Speaker 1: to the to the to the Scrubs podcast rule book
- 3:18Speaker 1: that you are when you're this late. You don't get
- 3:19Speaker 1: to five six seven eight, you're punished.
- 3:21Speaker 3: When when did we get a rule book?
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, when I was a kid, I'm going to camp.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I was so nerdy and this was back in a
- 3:29Speaker 1: day when they would let you do this. But on
- 3:31Speaker 1: the on the school bus to camp, I would sit
- 3:33Speaker 1: in the front seat and as the bus as the
- 3:37Speaker 1: bus pulled in for each stop, the bus driver would
- 3:40Speaker 1: allow me to operate the mechanism that opened up the
- 3:43Speaker 1: school bus door, and I thought I was the coolest
- 3:48Speaker 1: mofo in the world as the door operator. Now wait,
- 3:51Speaker 1: this is my point. Was that I got in trouble
- 3:54Speaker 1: one day at camp and the counselors told the bus
- 3:57Speaker 1: driver that I had been bad and I was not
- 3:59Speaker 1: allowed to operate rate the door that day, and I
- 4:01Speaker 1: was crushed. I was I sat and pouted, and I
- 4:06Speaker 1: just feel that that should be something like your punishment.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You don't get to five six seven eight when you've
- 4:10Speaker 1: been naughty.
- 4:11Speaker 3: But I already five six seven I know.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Well, I'm just trying to lay down the rules. Maybe
- 4:15Speaker 1: Joel can can start to make like a Bible of
- 4:18Speaker 1: sorts of the rules of the show.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Okay, how old were you when all of this happened?
- 4:22Speaker 1: This was last year, and no, I don't know daycamp.
- 4:28Speaker 1: How old you at day camp? Seven eight?
- 4:31Speaker 3: Ship? Well, then yes, I can understand.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I was five six seven eight and I'm just kidding.
- 4:35Speaker 1: All right, let's bring in Neil Flynn. Dan.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Push the button, Ladies and gentlemen give it up.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Four.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Hi Neil Flynn.
- 4:47Speaker 4: He you fellas.
- 4:48Speaker 3: How's it going excellent?
- 4:54Speaker 4: There?
- 4:54Speaker 1: He is there, Ishi, Neil, This is a Joel and
- 4:58Speaker 1: I think you met Dan briefly.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Yes. I was teaching him about computers and things like that.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It's so good to see you, man.
- 5:08Speaker 3: It is good to see you too.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Donald's literally in the closet. Good minute.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I am literally in the closet.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It started. It started Neil because it was it was
- 5:17Speaker 1: the best place for sound, because it had all his
- 5:19Speaker 1: clothes as a sound dampening thing. And then he realized
- 5:21Speaker 1: that he could hide from his family in there. So
- 5:24Speaker 1: he goes there sometimes even when we're not recording the podcast,
- 5:26Speaker 1: to escape his his children.
- 5:28Speaker 2: This is the this is the safest place in my house.
- 5:31Speaker 2: My kids don't find my clothes amusing or interesting enough
- 5:36Speaker 2: to want to hang out in the closet, so.
- 5:38Speaker 4: I can't say I ever found my father's clothes. Uh,
- 5:44Speaker 4: we are any Are any of your kids big enough
- 5:45Speaker 4: to wear your clothes? Now?
- 5:47Speaker 3: No?
- 5:48Speaker 7: I no?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Thank good?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Well yeah, well, yeah, I have an eighteen year old
- 5:51Speaker 2: with us, but uh, he doesn't necessarily like the clothes
- 5:56Speaker 2: I wear. He's more into that supreme style and stuff
- 6:00Speaker 2: like that. Me personally, I you know, I've dumbed down
- 6:04Speaker 2: my gear a little bit and now I'm a golf
- 6:07Speaker 2: shirt and shorts kind of guy. And so what you
- 6:10Speaker 2: see behind me is a bunch of golf shirts and
- 6:13Speaker 2: then my shorts are over there.
- 6:16Speaker 1: That Neil, that was your probably first and last tour
- 6:18Speaker 1: ever of Donald's clothes.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know you asked, but I do.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I do remember.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I do remember when my father's clothes became interesting to
- 6:30Speaker 2: me and I wanted to wear all of his gear.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And I would go into my dad's closet and take
- 6:35Speaker 2: his shirts which were oversized for me, which at the
- 6:39Speaker 2: time was really cool. And he had like a bunch
- 6:42Speaker 2: of designer things that I didn't you know, he had
- 6:44Speaker 2: like back in the day when jabebou was really popular
- 6:48Speaker 2: or you know, shirts like that, and I remember going
- 6:50Speaker 2: in his.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Closet, TAINI do you remember those?
- 6:53Speaker 3: No, I remember, No, I.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Was like the sweatsuit of sweatsuit okay, but.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I remember going in his closet and taking a really
- 6:59Speaker 2: expense shirt and wearing it outside and ripping it and
- 7:04Speaker 2: being like, oh shit, my dad's gonna kill me. My
- 7:06Speaker 2: dad's gonna kill me, and having to tell him. And
- 7:09Speaker 2: my dad didn't come home all the time, right, So
- 7:12Speaker 2: my dad would leave in the morning and then come
- 7:14Speaker 2: back maybe you know, three four days later.
- 7:17Speaker 3: You know, that's just how my dad rolls. And and.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I remember having to wait for him to come home
- 7:28Speaker 2: to tell him that I ripped one of his really
- 7:31Speaker 2: expensive shirts. And he wasn't too beat up about it,
- 7:33Speaker 2: but I remember the fear. For three days I had
- 7:36Speaker 2: to wait, and you know, my mom being like, he's
- 7:38Speaker 2: gonna kick your ass and me.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Being like God, and then.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Find you ripped the shirt.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Like playing playing something stupid, like we were playing a
- 7:48Speaker 2: on a jungle gym and we would play tag where
- 7:50Speaker 2: you couldn't touch the ground, sure, and the jungle gym
- 7:53Speaker 2: was huge, was big enough for you to jump from
- 7:56Speaker 2: you know, the slide to you know, uh, one of
- 8:01Speaker 2: the houses or wooden houses or some.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Shit or plant. You were a kid, yeah, I was a.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Kid wearing my dad's oversized, expensive shirt.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And what made you think, like, you know what I'm
- 8:11Speaker 1: gonna rock to the jungle gym today is Dad's expensive shirt.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I just, you know, because everybody was wearing jabot, you
- 8:17Speaker 2: know what I mean. And I thought, well, if he
- 8:19Speaker 2: has a shirt, I can go outside and I'll have
- 8:22Speaker 2: this really crisp and it was like and it was
- 8:24Speaker 2: fucked up to the fucked up thing was it was
- 8:26Speaker 2: like in plastic and it just come from the cleaners
- 8:28Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I kind of knew. I kind of knew, like dude.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Took the plastic off to.
- 8:37Speaker 3: And I made a mistake.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's one of those things like I watched my kids
- 8:40Speaker 2: now do to ship where it's like, what were you thinking,
- 8:43Speaker 2: why would why would you even do something like that?
- 8:47Speaker 3: And their answer is, I don't know.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And that was my answer to I don't know, ye
- 8:53Speaker 2: just impulsive, impulsive.
- 8:55Speaker 1: My sister when I went close shopping, I remember I
- 8:58Speaker 1: was in like fourth grade and it was the height
- 9:00Speaker 1: of I don't know if you remember guest jeans. It
- 9:03Speaker 1: was like the height of guest jeans and for mostly
- 9:06Speaker 1: for women. I think at the time, I'm guessing because
- 9:09Speaker 1: my sister convinced me and my mom that I should
- 9:12Speaker 1: wear guest jeans as well in fourth grade and they
- 9:15Speaker 1: were very uh, you could always tell they were guest
- 9:17Speaker 1: jeans because they had a triangle on the on the back,
- 9:19Speaker 1: on the back, jean pocket. So I thought, Okay, you know,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I'm not much of a style guy. I'm more of
- 9:24Speaker 1: a sweatpants T shirt kid, but you know, okay, I'll
- 9:27Speaker 1: try this out for a full day. I was bullied
- 9:31Speaker 1: by essentially the entire school. Children of all ages and
- 9:37Speaker 1: grades came by to point and laugh at me and
- 9:41Speaker 1: my guest jeans.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Because they were considered like girl jeans or.
- 9:45Speaker 1: A girl a girl and expensive. I think they were.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They were like I remember them being like fifty bucks
- 9:50Speaker 1: or maybe one hundred bucks whatever whatever they I mean,
- 9:52Speaker 1: it was like too expensive for a kid to have anyway,
- 9:56Speaker 1: but I think probably fourth gradsigner. I don't know, I
- 9:59Speaker 1: don't know. I regret it to this day. I when
- 10:01Speaker 1: Donald started talking about his story, I felt the pain
- 10:05Speaker 1: in my heart from literally the It's like it's like
- 10:08Speaker 1: it's like what's his name on on on the Simpsons going.
- 10:11Speaker 1: It was literally that for a full day of school.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So then I go home, I go home in tears
- 10:17Speaker 1: and I tell my mom, like, I hate these jeans.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm so everyone made funny me all day long. I
- 10:23Speaker 1: fucking hate these jeans, and she was like, well, you
- 10:25Speaker 1: know we're gonna do Zach, those dream jeans are perfectly fine.
- 10:28Speaker 1: We're gonna take my little stitch cutter and we're gonna
- 10:31Speaker 1: cut the triangle off off the pocket. Well she did that,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and they still had the marking of what the triangle was.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Yeah, now you have some sort of knockoff guess jeans.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, but it's worse exactly, Neil. Now I'm wearing
- 10:51Speaker 1: black market guess gell. Neil, thank you for coming on.
- 10:56Speaker 1: We Donald and I started started doing this silly little thing,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and both of us when we post about it on
- 11:03Speaker 1: Instagram and Twitter, I would say that like sixty percent
- 11:06Speaker 1: of the comments people are right, right, are when are
- 11:08Speaker 1: you having Neil Flynn on? So you are very beloved
- 11:11Speaker 1: by beloved or beloved by either one by the people
- 11:15Speaker 1: either one.
- 11:16Speaker 4: It's like divisive and divisive. All of a sudden, divisive
- 11:19Speaker 4: became divisive because that's how Barack Obama pronounced it. Really yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 4: people say divisive. I had never heard it pronounced that
- 11:28Speaker 4: way before Obama said that.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Well, you know, if Obama said it, yeah, now I'm
- 11:33Speaker 3: now I'm switching.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I'm switching a few years a few years late.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But I'm changing, switching it up, switching it up.
- 11:40Speaker 4: If he starts wearing Jbo's shirts, That's what I'm gonna
- 11:42Speaker 4: do too.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He probably does wear guest jeans, though he's a stylish guy.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't know if they're still in style anymore.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I don't know if.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I'm not sure how big Guess is. I don't think
- 11:51Speaker 3: I know.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Somewhere somebody the CEO of guesses like, we're still ahead,
- 11:55Speaker 2: We're still yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: We're going to get Donald and I are gonna get
- 11:59Speaker 1: send guest Gene in the mail, because sometimes when we
- 12:01Speaker 1: mention things on here, we get sent in the mail.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I got a care package from Omission. I have to
- 12:06Speaker 1: tell him, is Neil. It's really lame in Hollywood to say,
- 12:08Speaker 1: but I don't eat gluten, and but I love beer.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And so there's a really good pale ale called Omission,
- 12:15Speaker 1: which I mentioned because we were all talking about beer.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They sent me not only a beautiful care package of
- 12:19Speaker 1: Omission beer, but an Omission backpack.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I've yet to receive any of this.
- 12:23Speaker 4: When you come to school in the backpack, I'm going
- 12:26Speaker 4: to make fun of you. You got a Mission bagpack.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You're gonna be like, Zach, please tell me you're not
- 12:36Speaker 1: wearing a gluten free beer backpack.
- 12:40Speaker 4: I don't really even know what that is gluten, but
- 12:43Speaker 4: I think you can get away with not etene gluten
- 12:45Speaker 4: in Hollywood.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah you can. It's just when I you know, this
- 12:48Speaker 1: podcast has listened all over the world. Whenever I mentioned it,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I cringe because I know people are like, oh, what
- 12:53Speaker 1: a Hollywood tool.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Not you know, I thought that sparkling water was universal.
- 12:59Speaker 2: You go places in like Texas and you'll be like,
- 13:03Speaker 2: can I get.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Some sparkling water?
- 13:05Speaker 2: And they'll be like, we don't have that, say club soda.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Maybe I went to someplace and they were like, we
- 13:12Speaker 2: do have club soda.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yes, what's the clubference between club soda and sparkling water?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Does anybody know.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Club soda is carbon and sparkling water is sodium?
- 13:20Speaker 3: If I no, no, Neil knows.
- 13:23Speaker 4: No, You're right, I have a cat. Okay, And of
- 13:27Speaker 4: course they listen when you're saying no, yeah, but he's
- 13:30Speaker 4: in my.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Oh you were saying no to the cat. I thought
- 13:33Speaker 1: you were. I thought you were heavily. I thought you
- 13:36Speaker 1: were very clearly opining.
- 13:38Speaker 3: On Donald's no no, no no.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And then I was waiting for you to go into
- 13:43Speaker 1: your explanation, but you never did.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Don't try to give me that club soda story.
- 13:51Speaker 1: All right, Wait, Joelle is letting us know. Club soda
- 13:54Speaker 1: is artificially infused with carbon and mineral salts. Similarly, seltzer
- 14:00Speaker 1: is artificially carbonated but generally does not contain any added minerals.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Sparkling mineral water, on the other hand, is naturally carbonated
- 14:08Speaker 1: from a spring or well, how is something naturally carbonated?
- 14:12Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, carbon gets into it.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I guess.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Well, that was a very thorough explanation, but I still
- 14:18Speaker 1: didn't understand it.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I feel like you cussed and cut and pasted that
- 14:22Speaker 2: though from from She didn't.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Just freehand type that. She just got it off the web.
- 14:27Speaker 4: You know, speaking of places that don't have things. We're
- 14:31Speaker 4: in some backwoods plays touring with a show and stopped
- 14:36Speaker 4: it kind of a dairy queen type of thing, but
- 14:38Speaker 4: sort of in glove a forest for some reason. And
- 14:42Speaker 4: one of the girls with us, she's going to get
- 14:43Speaker 4: a cheeseburger. She says, what kind of cheese do you have?
- 14:47Speaker 4: I think this is somewhere in Michigan and the person
- 14:49Speaker 4: literally goes cheese. It's square, it's orange, and it's flat.
- 15:01Speaker 4: That person went home and told her family, you wouldn't
- 15:04Speaker 4: believe what this girl asked me to do. Kind of cheese.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It's it's cheese.
- 15:16Speaker 3: So all right, Neil, I was gonna do it.
- 15:19Speaker 1: You got no, you do it, You do it, you
- 15:22Speaker 1: do it?
- 15:22Speaker 3: No, no, no, go ahead. I was just gonna be.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I was just gonna be like, I was just gonna
- 15:25Speaker 2: say this, Neil, You're one of the few people in
- 15:29Speaker 2: the history of television. There's like a handful of people
- 15:32Speaker 2: that went from a show that ran for eight years
- 15:36Speaker 2: to a show that ran for eleven year?
- 15:39Speaker 3: What did the middle of eleven nine to a nine year?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Seventeen years?
- 15:44Speaker 3: Seventeen years straight on television?
- 15:46Speaker 4: Man, I know?
- 15:47Speaker 1: And then actually and then actually, Knel, you went onto
- 15:49Speaker 1: another show right away, right, So you did eight and
- 15:51Speaker 1: then that one didn't last, right, But you did eighteen
- 15:53Speaker 1: years in a row on TV.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, that might be.
- 15:56Speaker 1: A record that You've got to be on a very
- 15:58Speaker 1: short list.
- 15:59Speaker 3: It has to be.
- 16:00Speaker 4: But if there is, whatever the list is, however long
- 16:04Speaker 4: it is, I am the least famous person on it.
- 16:09Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 16:10Speaker 4: I just agree. I disagree. No, that's true, But it's
- 16:14Speaker 4: just you know, I was trying for a long time
- 16:16Speaker 4: before Scrubs came along, and then I finally the door opened,
- 16:20Speaker 4: you know, and I got let into the party, and
- 16:24Speaker 4: luckily enough, I just stayed.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Now tell us Neil, that's a good segue into because
- 16:29Speaker 1: whenever we have the cast members on, we try and
- 16:31Speaker 1: we've all sort of told our stories of of how
- 16:34Speaker 1: he got on the show. And Bill sold a really
- 16:36Speaker 1: funny story about you, and which I'll let you tell
- 16:39Speaker 1: or your version of it, because he was talking about
- 16:41Speaker 1: how you initially read for Cox and and then when
- 16:44Speaker 1: he said you wanted to be the janitor, you said
- 16:45Speaker 1: something like, but I'll still have a stethoscope, right or something.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, Bill tends do embellish his story.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Oh really, yeah, over time, if you were if if
- 17:00Speaker 1: you've heard a Bill story like at the beginning, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: then what it's like in two years. It's it's like
- 17:04Speaker 1: the ultimate game of telephone. It's become something exaggerated.
- 17:07Speaker 4: But yes, and I thought before, what kind of person
- 17:09Speaker 4: just takes his story and changes it improves it? Possibly
- 17:15Speaker 4: a comedy writer. It kind of makes sense.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But Neil, what was going on for you before? Like
- 17:21Speaker 1: what were you up to before Scrubs? And then how
- 17:23Speaker 1: did you come to be on Scrubs?
- 17:25Speaker 3: Well, I can't just say.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You had done a bunch of movies though in Chicago
- 17:28Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Like small parts, small, nothing of any significance.
- 17:32Speaker 2: But the baseball movie that you did, you were one
- 17:35Speaker 2: of the key players in that movie.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Rookie of the Year was.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Just correct, right right, And yeah, the out part in
- 17:43Speaker 4: Major League as well. I was doing baseball movies only,
- 17:48Speaker 4: you know, I went into not even read but years ago,
- 17:52Speaker 4: whenever they would have made eight men out. I somehow
- 17:56Speaker 4: got a chance to be one of the baseball players.
- 17:58Speaker 4: And I went in and she said, so, do you
- 18:00Speaker 4: a baseball I said yeah. She said do you really
- 18:03Speaker 4: you know, like she pushed me. I said, well, it's
- 18:06Speaker 4: not like I could have been a pro, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 4: And I saw her face fall. She lost interest in me.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I'm twenty five years old. If I could have been
- 18:13Speaker 4: a pro, i'd be a pro. And then I see
- 18:16Speaker 4: the movie and there's the baseball players. They're playing catch. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 4: it sounds like doing the movie throwing the ball back
- 18:23Speaker 4: and forth. We only got pros for this, you know. Anyway,
- 18:29Speaker 4: So I wasn't in that Baseball movie, but I was
- 18:31Speaker 4: just doing little parts of what E can get. I
- 18:34Speaker 4: was starting to get guest star on things a little bit,
- 18:36Speaker 4: and and then this came up. I actually, I feel
- 18:41Speaker 4: like I've told this story before. It Is it okay
- 18:43Speaker 4: to repeat yourself?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah, man, Our fans might not know it, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm sure they'll love the story.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Okay. I was doing guest stars on things, and whereas
- 18:53Speaker 4: the first half of my career i'd been kind of
- 18:54Speaker 4: a straight actor, kind of a drama leaning, drifted over
- 19:00Speaker 4: unto the comedy side, and thank goodness I did, because
- 19:02Speaker 4: that's where things opened up. I had done an episode
- 19:04Speaker 4: of Drew Carrey and Christa Miller was on that show,
- 19:10Speaker 4: and shortly afterwards friends of mine said that they're going
- 19:12Speaker 4: out to dinner with Chris Miller and her new husband,
- 19:16Speaker 4: who turns out was Bill Lawrence. And I said, years ago,
- 19:19Speaker 4: I met a Bill Lawrence. We played on the same
- 19:22Speaker 4: basketball team out here right before I left and went
- 19:24Speaker 4: back to Chicago, and it was the same guy, and
- 19:29Speaker 4: so we you know, I went to their house for
- 19:33Speaker 4: drinks or whatever, and then within a month or two
- 19:36Speaker 4: he had this show that he had created, and so
- 19:38Speaker 4: I got called in and I said, thanks for calling
- 19:41Speaker 4: me in. He said, I didn't. I didn't give him
- 19:44Speaker 4: your name. They because the same people that directed to
- 19:46Speaker 4: Drew Carrey. I think cash scrubs.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Anyways, so then I read Doctor Cox and he said
- 19:53Speaker 4: that was good. You're not going to get this part.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I already know who I'm going to give it to.
- 19:57Speaker 4: I said, oh, well, that's you know, fair enough, and
- 20:00Speaker 4: he says, but you want to read this. He hands
- 20:01Speaker 4: me two pages and it's the scene with the janitor
- 20:04Speaker 4: and JD at the door, and he goes, good, you
- 20:07Speaker 4: want to do that? Said sure, you know, it's a job.
- 20:11Speaker 4: As a job, that's all I've been doing. It's five
- 20:12Speaker 4: hundred bucks or whatever it is for the end of
- 20:14Speaker 4: the day. And then I think what was significant is
- 20:20Speaker 4: between doing the pilot and that's all I was promised
- 20:23Speaker 4: the janitor wasn't gonna do anything else. Bill came to
- 20:28Speaker 4: and saw an imp prov show that I did, and
- 20:32Speaker 4: he enjoyed it and learned I don't know that I
- 20:37Speaker 4: could think on my feet or whatever. And I think
- 20:40Speaker 4: this made all the difference that probably the first scene
- 20:44Speaker 4: of the next episode. When I show got picked up,
- 20:47Speaker 4: we rehearsed it. He goes, yeah, good, and then if
- 20:49Speaker 4: you think of something else, just throw it in do
- 20:52Speaker 4: a take like that. Or we would go for around
- 20:54Speaker 4: and rehearsal. We would say good, keep that remember. And
- 20:58Speaker 4: so that for me, considering it was a pretty small part.
- 21:02Speaker 4: That was that made all the differences. I got to
- 21:05Speaker 4: have such latitude.
- 21:07Speaker 1: What was amazing for for me watching you was Bill's
- 21:11Speaker 1: respect for how understandably for how funny you were, because
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know, with everyone else, he would, you know, the
- 21:20Speaker 1: rule on Scrubs was kind of like, okay, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: make sure you get it as written, and then if
- 21:25Speaker 1: you guys have time, you can you can mess around
- 21:27Speaker 1: a little bit, and and and and you know, and
- 21:29Speaker 1: and and and we all did that. We all would
- 21:31Speaker 1: would come up with stuff. But with Neil, Bill would
- 21:33Speaker 1: just be like, all right, Neil, you can make something
- 21:35Speaker 1: funnier than this, So what do you what do you
- 21:36Speaker 1: want to say? And invariably Neil would just come out
- 21:40Speaker 1: and sometimes they were long and like and and Bill
- 21:43Speaker 1: would put them in, but they were I mean, Neil,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I you know, all my stuff was with you. The
- 21:47Speaker 1: first season, and I just I don't think.
- 21:49Speaker 4: I ever left with you.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Sorry, that's what I meant to say. I was just
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'd never really worked with anyone like that. I never
- 21:55Speaker 1: worked I mean, I was so blown away by you
- 21:57Speaker 1: because I had never I mean it was my first
- 21:58Speaker 1: big job, obviously, but even in my other stuff I
- 22:00Speaker 1: had done, I had never worked with someone who could
- 22:03Speaker 1: think so quickly on their feet and would just be
- 22:05Speaker 1: adding stuff that was, with all due respect to Bill,
- 22:07Speaker 1: even finnier than what was written on the page.
- 22:10Speaker 4: And Bill said, if it's funnier than what I wrote,
- 22:13Speaker 4: that's fine. People will think I wrote it. Yeah, So
- 22:17Speaker 4: he was fine with that.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Ye.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Well, I appreciate that compliment. And it was a I think,
- 22:24Speaker 4: very rare situation at that unfolded the way it did.
- 22:29Speaker 4: And when when that show ended and I went on
- 22:31Speaker 4: to the middle, I said, well, this is great. The
- 22:34Speaker 4: only the only bad part will be if they're sticklers
- 22:37Speaker 4: about the script, because I'm not used to that, and
- 22:40Speaker 4: they were, And I had a lot more to say. Right.
- 22:45Speaker 1: That must have been so frustrating for you, because I mean,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I just can't one thing about Bill. We always joke
- 22:49Speaker 1: about his ego and how competitive he is, but he
- 22:52Speaker 1: really always he was very open to people contributing. That's
- 22:55Speaker 1: not to say, you know, he was the editor ultimately,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and he would decide what was in and what wasn't
- 22:59Speaker 1: and and sometimes we thought stuff was hilarious that he
- 23:02Speaker 1: wouldn't use it. But he was very open to everybody collaborating.
- 23:06Speaker 1: And then it's like Neil said, he goes on to
- 23:07Speaker 1: another show and they're like, great, we just want you
- 23:10Speaker 1: to say exactly what's written, and you can't. You know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: if I hear that story and I go, what were
- 23:15Speaker 1: you thinking? I mean, you you contributed so much to
- 23:20Speaker 1: the humor of Scrubs. I just can't believe. It's like
- 23:22Speaker 1: not letting a racehorse run.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Well, you know, the difference if it's a racehorse is
- 23:28Speaker 4: running around and someone says, okay, I can see that
- 23:31Speaker 4: you're very fast. This is a farm, we need you
- 23:35Speaker 4: to pull that plot running gets it. The difference is
- 23:41Speaker 4: the tone of the show Scrubs. Even though it had
- 23:44Speaker 4: it's nice, uh you know, it could turn on a
- 23:47Speaker 4: dime and be heartfelt and sincere in that. Other than that,
- 23:51Speaker 4: and much of it it wasn't very grounded. It was well,
- 23:53Speaker 4: all the fantas season. I mean it was very and
- 23:57Speaker 4: the janitor could have turned out to be a Martian. Okay, sure,
- 24:01Speaker 4: I guess sure. I was playing a family man in Indiana.
- 24:06Speaker 4: You can't just say crazy things.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Right right right where in One of your specialties was
- 24:13Speaker 1: just I remember that Bill told the story about you
- 24:16Speaker 1: getting the one thing you improve that he kept all
- 24:18Speaker 1: in about getting into a fight with a with a chicken.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Do you remember that, Yeah, it was a duck. I
- 24:24Speaker 4: think a duck. I think I feel like that was
- 24:27Speaker 4: written or partly written or mostly written, and I might
- 24:30Speaker 4: have gone off a little bit, but I think.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I think the start of it may have been. But
- 24:33Speaker 1: as I recall you, as you did so many times hilariously,
- 24:36Speaker 1: would just go off with it, and so, you know
- 24:38Speaker 1: a lot of times we'd be like, this is hilarious.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't know if Bill's gonna put this in the
- 24:41Speaker 1: show or not, but on set we're all fucking cracking up.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And then and then it almost invariably you'd see the
- 24:46Speaker 1: episode cut together and it would be in there. I
- 24:48Speaker 1: remember one of my favorite I mean, you and I
- 24:50Speaker 1: had some I mean, I'm not just saying this because
- 24:52Speaker 1: you're here, man, I I genuinely think and no offense. Donald,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I love you to death, but I thought, I genuinely
- 24:57Speaker 1: think you. You've probably made me laugh harder than anyone
- 25:00Speaker 1: and else on earth.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Well, wow, okay, then I remember I remember an episode
- 25:07Speaker 2: and they wound up changing the episode. But the storyline
- 25:10Speaker 2: between the two of you was about a piece of
- 25:13Speaker 2: fruit and that you had never tried before, that that
- 25:17Speaker 2: the janitor had never tried before. And the whole storyline
- 25:23Speaker 2: was you finally getting this fruit at the end of
- 25:27Speaker 2: the show and tasting the fruit, and and I don't
- 25:31Speaker 2: remember where it went after that, but I just remember
- 25:33Speaker 2: you doing a bunch of really funny things about fruit,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and then they changed it to like a scooter or
- 25:40Speaker 2: some shit like that.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I don't know what it was.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Oh, you remember this. This reminds me yesterday because Zach
- 25:46Speaker 4: sent me an episode of this thing to listen with
- 25:50Speaker 4: John McGinley. Yeah, and it came up, what episode wasn't
- 25:55Speaker 4: the janitor in?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Yes?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 25:58Speaker 3: Was that the episode that is it cups?
- 26:01Speaker 4: Yes, I think I because there was an outtake of
- 26:03Speaker 4: me wiping out on a scooter coming in the front
- 26:06Speaker 4: door of the hospital, but that had never aired because
- 26:09Speaker 4: I was that was the first season, and I was
- 26:12Speaker 4: edited out of it, and that's the only time that happened.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I knew it. I knew I knew it.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I knew I'll do as the worst memory in the world.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Remembered something because.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I thought the I thought the story was so funny.
- 26:22Speaker 2: The fruit story was so funny, and it was like
- 26:25Speaker 2: a peach or a plump, and you kept improvising different
- 26:28Speaker 2: fruits when.
- 26:29Speaker 4: You were telling that story. I have and I still
- 26:31Speaker 4: have no memory whatsoever of a fruit and a plot
- 26:35Speaker 4: line about fruit because I wasn't in it, so I
- 26:40Speaker 4: blocked it out of my SPIKEE Neil.
- 26:44Speaker 1: One of my favorite I have two favorite moments that
- 26:48Speaker 1: always come to mind when I think of laughing with you.
- 26:50Speaker 1: The first is in the Wizard of Oz episode when
- 26:55Speaker 1: you and I did this whole long riff about about
- 27:00Speaker 1: seeing a manatee under the hospital, and then you said,
- 27:05Speaker 1: I said, is there some sort of underground canal system
- 27:08Speaker 1: or something? I think I I think I saw a
- 27:09Speaker 1: manatee And you said, was his name Julian? And then
- 27:15Speaker 1: I said, I don't know. We we didn't exchange pleasantries,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and you go, that's Julian.
- 27:23Speaker 4: That was good.
- 27:25Speaker 1: The writers though I don't know, no, no, that was
- 27:28Speaker 1: all me and you just being silly again. It was
- 27:30Speaker 1: one of those things where we were like, I don't
- 27:32Speaker 1: think this is ever going to be in the show,
- 27:33Speaker 1: but we were just cracking each other up about there's
- 27:36Speaker 1: a manatee under the hospital and has a name, and
- 27:38Speaker 1: you you're familiar with his social behavior.
- 27:42Speaker 4: This is what I'm talking about being able to wing it. Yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 4: I couldn't have thrown that in in the middle. I
- 27:48Speaker 4: was working on Corey Mike. It was good. There's a
- 27:51Speaker 4: man he lives underground, and the other one.
- 27:58Speaker 1: That yeah, you do, go ahead.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It's uh, it's it's this.
- 28:03Speaker 2: It's your finger thumb finger.
- 28:08Speaker 1: If you guys want to watch on the on the
- 28:10Speaker 1: Scrubs gag reel blipper reel that you can find on YouTube.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I forgot what season it is. But Neil the janitor
- 28:16Speaker 1: as wife had made me scrubs short shorts and and
- 28:20Speaker 1: he's like, look, I really want you to wear these
- 28:22Speaker 1: to work, and I'm like, I'm like, I'm I'm a
- 28:25Speaker 1: I'm a doctor. I can't wear short shorts to work.
- 28:30Speaker 4: A pair of scrubs cut off really high.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so high like my balls would have
- 28:34Speaker 1: hung out of them. And then Neil goes, the good
- 28:38Speaker 1: Lord didn't bless my wife with all ten fingers. She
- 28:41Speaker 1: only has pointer on one hand and thumb pinky on
- 28:44Speaker 1: the other, meaning that that it had been really hard
- 28:49Speaker 1: for her to make these short shorts, and I was
- 28:51Speaker 1: disrespecting her. I didn't wear them anyway. I just couldn't
- 28:54Speaker 1: make it through. I could not make it through with
- 28:56Speaker 1: with Neil going pointer and thumb pinky.
- 28:59Speaker 4: That's, by the way I life. That probably doesn't exist.
- 29:03Speaker 3: No, yeah, she didn't.
- 29:04Speaker 2: She didn't exist because you get married at the end
- 29:06Speaker 2: of the at the end of the scy True.
- 29:09Speaker 1: That's true. And Neil, you know, Neil, we've been joking
- 29:12Speaker 1: this first season. It's down like, you know, we haven't
- 29:13Speaker 1: seen these in twenty years, and as I'm sure you haven't.
- 29:17Speaker 1: And you know Bill, you know one of the Bill
- 29:19Speaker 1: isms that he always says is, you know, I was
- 29:22Speaker 1: debating season one if the Janitor was just gonna be
- 29:24Speaker 1: a figment of JD's imagination. Well, every episode we go through,
- 29:27Speaker 1: for the most part, we see little moments where the
- 29:29Speaker 1: janitor does interact with other people, and every time we
- 29:33Speaker 1: bring it up to Bill, We're like, so, yeah, you're
- 29:35Speaker 1: holding onto that.
- 29:36Speaker 3: But you know, you know in.
- 29:37Speaker 1: This episode, the janitor, you know, for example, in this one,
- 29:40Speaker 1: he offers two baseball tickets. Sorry, Franklin god Better, who
- 29:45Speaker 1: who is one of our assistant directors, is playing the
- 29:48Speaker 1: the the actor who sees Neil with the two tickets
- 29:52Speaker 1: and says I'll go, and Neil's like, not you. And
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's like another example of like, okay, well then other
- 29:58Speaker 1: people will see the janitor. Bill.
- 30:01Speaker 4: I watched that yesterday, that that was a moment that
- 30:05Speaker 4: was added to the script that wasn't in there. Yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 4: and that you part for Franklin.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think that might be the one of the only
- 30:13Speaker 1: times I mean you might.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Now he dressed up like the bunny. Remember Franklin dressed
- 30:16Speaker 2: up like a bunny.
- 30:17Speaker 1: No, I'm not I'm not saying that Franklin wasn't in
- 30:19Speaker 1: the show more. I'm saying where it's a really funny
- 30:22Speaker 1: moment where Neil goes, uh, what do you want to
- 30:26Speaker 1: what do you want to go to a baseball game
- 30:28Speaker 1: and have popcorn? And then Gg walks away like stop
- 30:32Speaker 1: messing with me, and then he pulls the two tickets
- 30:34Speaker 1: out of his shirt. He's like the last time I
- 30:36Speaker 1: reached out and I was laughing out loud and going,
- 30:39Speaker 1: do you think that's the only time in Scrubs history
- 30:42Speaker 1: that the janitor ever like made a genuine appeal to
- 30:45Speaker 1: Jdy the hatchet?
- 30:47Speaker 4: You know what if watching that, I thought, I don't
- 30:50Speaker 4: think I played that right because I said it very sarcastically.
- 30:54Speaker 4: So of course you walked away. You know, we want
- 30:57Speaker 4: to do go to a baseball game and we get up.
- 30:58Speaker 4: But I probably should have said, well, would you like
- 31:02Speaker 4: to go to a baseball game with me and we
- 31:04Speaker 4: can share popcorn? I mean, it's something that sounds a
- 31:07Speaker 4: little more sincere.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Right, But JD had to you know, it had to
- 31:11Speaker 1: be on the line because JD had to be like,
- 31:13Speaker 1: stop fucking with me, roll his eyes and walk away, right.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Or maybe the janitor just has no skill at offering
- 31:20Speaker 4: an invitation. They all come out very sarcasting, very sarcast right.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Would you like to come to a party with me?
- 31:28Speaker 4: I guess would you marry me? Please?
- 31:33Speaker 1: So what was the troop that you were doing improv
- 31:36Speaker 1: with Neil that Bill saw you? Early in the early.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Days, we were called beer shark mice and it was
- 31:44Speaker 4: at the Io West, which no longer exists a theater,
- 31:48Speaker 4: but we must have done it for as it turns out,
- 31:51Speaker 4: fifteen eighteen years something like that. It was crazy.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 31:55Speaker 4: We throw out the names real quick. Pete Honey, Dave Keckner,
- 31:59Speaker 4: Pat Finn, Mike Coleman, Paul Valancourt. I hope I didn't
- 32:03Speaker 4: forget anybody when I first moved out here, removed out
- 32:08Speaker 4: here after five years in Chicago. We had been doing
- 32:12Speaker 4: it out of theater in Chicago. Not the same group,
- 32:14Speaker 4: but all those individuals with different and he'd only put
- 32:20Speaker 4: just put a group together out here when they Sharon,
- 32:23Speaker 4: who owns it, opened up a branch out here, and
- 32:27Speaker 4: we all had a virtually nothing to do. Nobody's career
- 32:29Speaker 4: was rolling, and so that's what that's what we did
- 32:32Speaker 4: all the time. That was maybe in.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And what was that? Was there a specific game or
- 32:37Speaker 1: that you guys would play or structure of your.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Improv Uh no, not really, but we didn't do games.
- 32:46Speaker 4: That's a different approach. It was. There's something called a
- 32:52Speaker 4: herald that is a long form. We would get up there,
- 32:56Speaker 4: take his yestion and go for half hour. Yeah, and
- 33:00Speaker 4: we didn't do that, but it was along those lines
- 33:02Speaker 4: to just take a suggestion and then the audience is done.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Particularly, that's amazing.
- 33:07Speaker 4: You just rolled for half far. It was a good group,
- 33:09Speaker 4: and it was it's not necessarily dead now, but it
- 33:14Speaker 4: was great fun and a great thing to do, and
- 33:18Speaker 4: I enjoyed doing it. And then after a while sometimes
- 33:20Speaker 4: they still want to do a show, and I say,
- 33:23Speaker 4: you know, I'm closing in on sixty years old. I
- 33:25Speaker 4: don't think I was twenty five. I wasn't interested in
- 33:28Speaker 4: saying sixty year olds entertainment in any way.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Oh, I have no doubt that you would sell out.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Man.
- 33:36Speaker 1: People love seeing you, and you were so good at it.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I mean I remember thinking that when we're doing Scrubs,
- 33:41Speaker 1: that that just cracking up with the stuff you would
- 33:44Speaker 1: come up with and going out. I would love to
- 33:45Speaker 1: go see one of your improv shows. We may have
- 33:48Speaker 1: gone on when we were involved the no. I just
- 33:52Speaker 1: maybe he came with it when we were.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Doing when we were doing scrubs, Were you doing this
- 33:56Speaker 2: show too?
- 33:57Speaker 3: Were you doing the improv show?
- 34:00Speaker 1: I feel like I must have come once.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I don't think it did, because I didn't, you know,
- 34:05Speaker 4: feel strongly about this, But people had heard that this
- 34:09Speaker 4: was going on, and it went on for all the
- 34:11Speaker 4: years of the Scrubs, and so people would often I
- 34:15Speaker 4: don't know if they're just striking up a conversation or
- 34:17Speaker 4: being you know, they really meant it when you do
- 34:21Speaker 4: that show years what time it like for the literally
- 34:25Speaker 4: like for the fiftieth time, I'm saying to somebody, Saturday night,
- 34:28Speaker 4: eight o'clock, I owe theater, and as far as I recall,
- 34:33Speaker 4: no one ever came. So I got tired of being asked.
- 34:35Speaker 4: You know what I mean, I didn't end. I don't
- 34:37Speaker 4: need anybody to come, but the house's fully.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I saw a video or something I saw.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what we did. We saw a video. Bill
- 34:43Speaker 3: showed us a video.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Maybe that's what it was. Bill was sort of was
- 34:46Speaker 1: showing us a video of you. And because I feel
- 34:49Speaker 1: like I have a somewhere in my brain memory.
- 34:53Speaker 2: And there was you and somebody on stage and it
- 34:55Speaker 2: was like, uh, where you were a drill not a
- 34:59Speaker 2: drill sergeant, but something like that, where you were an
- 35:01Speaker 2: army and I just remember it a long time.
- 35:05Speaker 1: It was you remember that improv from twenty years ago?
- 35:08Speaker 4: Right? Yeah, that's uh, no one ever. Maybe it's possible,
- 35:14Speaker 4: but pretty much you never remember. As seen, someone will say,
- 35:17Speaker 4: I shay you guys, everybody once you're re firement, and
- 35:21Speaker 4: I don't I remember that?
- 35:25Speaker 1: Shall we get into the show, So, Neil, what we
- 35:26Speaker 1: do is we just kind of talked through the episode
- 35:29Speaker 1: and point out things that made us laugh or or
- 35:32Speaker 1: or or just any thoughts we have. But we should
- 35:34Speaker 1: probably take a break, right, Joelle, I got a break, Neil.
- 35:38Speaker 1: This is a real show. We have commercials and.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Shit, I know I heard. I'm very impressed.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yes, no joking around when it comes to being real, right, Donald,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I mean no, this is the real deal. This is
- 35:50Speaker 1: like a real radio show.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Well, I mean a real podcast, a real podcast. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 3: that's how you want to.
- 35:55Speaker 1: All right, tell the people we'll be right back.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Donald, you already did.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Okay, we'll be right back. Alrighty, we're back. We're back
- 36:10Speaker 1: with Neil Flynn. Everybody the people spoke, they said Neil Flynn,
- 36:14Speaker 1: Bring on Neil Flynn, and we got him.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Has everybody else been here? You are?
- 36:19Speaker 1: No, Ken has not been on the Jenkins, But we've
- 36:21Speaker 1: had the other lead cast members.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we had Judy on, We've had Johnny on, We've
- 36:27Speaker 2: had Sarah on.
- 36:28Speaker 3: We now have you on?
- 36:29Speaker 4: We had Bill on Christa, you know, speaking of Ken Jenkins.
- 36:35Speaker 4: I am just but you know when we started the show,
- 36:38Speaker 4: he was the old guy. Yeah without you, no offense,
- 36:41Speaker 4: but clearly yeah, that's how we thought of him. And
- 36:45Speaker 4: you even more than I because you're younger than I am.
- 36:48Speaker 4: I'm almost that age.
- 36:51Speaker 3: You're almost the age.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Yes, I'm months away. And I think Johnny ce' is
- 36:56Speaker 4: a little older than me, so I think he probably
- 36:58Speaker 4: is that age. Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Wow, I haven't since.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I haven't seen well.
- 37:03Speaker 2: The last time I saw him was when we did
- 37:05Speaker 2: the uh the reunion thing. It looked great and he
- 37:08Speaker 2: looked amazing.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to get him to come on this.
- 37:10Speaker 1: When we did some we had some sort of group
- 37:12Speaker 1: email about hey, do you guys want to do X,
- 37:14Speaker 1: Y or Z and and everyone was like sure, sure,
- 37:17Speaker 1: suret you know, we we almost all always say yes
- 37:19Speaker 1: because it means we get to all get together and
- 37:21Speaker 1: have a drink and make each other laugh. And and
- 37:24Speaker 1: Ken was like, I'm moving. I I've got a lot
- 37:26Speaker 1: going on. And I was like my feelings were I mean,
- 37:30Speaker 1: I know it wasn't personal, but I was on like, Ken,
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know you can you can take a couple of
- 37:33Speaker 1: hours off from moving and comes outde to us. But nah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I got a lot going on.
- 37:37Speaker 3: I got ship to do. It sounds it sounds like work.
- 37:41Speaker 3: I got shipped to do.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And then and it was kind of a Kirk goodbye.
- 37:44Speaker 1: It was like it was like very kelso it was like,
- 37:46Speaker 1: but good to hear from you all.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I remember that. But I find it interesting that it
- 37:51Speaker 4: was an email and you've put a voice to it
- 37:54Speaker 4: of a grouchy to move to.
- 38:01Speaker 1: The funny thing is about like people always ask you, like,
- 38:03Speaker 1: what what people cast members are like? And I said
- 38:06Speaker 1: the most different from his character was Ken Jenkins, because
- 38:08Speaker 1: he was the sweetest man you ever met in your
- 38:10Speaker 1: whole life, and he was playing this you know, tough jerk.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Yes, And I noticed that on the episode that it
- 38:17Speaker 4: was early on obviously the first season, and everyone was
- 38:20Speaker 4: still a little bit one dimensional. I don't want to
- 38:24Speaker 4: say that's not exactly true, but Ken was. I'm like,
- 38:27Speaker 4: look how mean Ken is being? Like in the pilot
- 38:30Speaker 4: when he turned into a demon for a minute, he
- 38:33Speaker 4: was still in that mode of well guess what sport?
- 38:36Speaker 4: Nobody cares that sort of thing. By the end, he
- 38:41Speaker 4: was like this kindly old doddering man used to having
- 38:46Speaker 4: a nice ruffin Yeah.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And also at the bar and the Bahamas. Like you know,
- 38:50Speaker 1: he began I think Bill finally, like evell one episode.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Early on here in season one, we showed that back
- 38:58Speaker 1: back in the day used to write love song ungs
- 39:00Speaker 1: on the guitar to his wife. I think Bill was
- 39:02Speaker 1: beginning to plant seeds of him having a softer side.
- 39:05Speaker 1: But you're right by the end of the season. By
- 39:07Speaker 1: the end of the show, he was a sweetheart or
- 39:09Speaker 1: more of a spearhart.
- 39:11Speaker 4: And uh like Ted was sort of his best friend,
- 39:14Speaker 4: wasn't he They were.
- 39:16Speaker 3: At the end of the show.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Yeah, in this one he calls him Ned.
- 39:22Speaker 1: He's still all these years that we assume that that
- 39:25Speaker 1: Ted has been working for him, he still doesn't know
- 39:28Speaker 1: his name. He calls him Ned.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Yeah, but that went away. I mean, yeah, they became
- 39:33Speaker 4: kind of buddies.
- 39:34Speaker 3: I found it very crazy.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I thought it was crazy that Ted has been plotting
- 39:39Speaker 2: against kelso.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so long he's hired hit man.
- 39:42Speaker 3: He's hired, right, He's like, I know a hitman. You
- 39:45Speaker 3: and I we can do it.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That was a really funny part of this episode where
- 39:48Speaker 1: we have that long, uncomfortable laugh because he mentions that
- 39:51Speaker 1: he knows a guy who can end it all, and
- 39:54Speaker 1: then we have that long, uncomfortable laugh and then he's like, no, seriously.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Just one phone call.
- 40:00Speaker 1: So that means that Sammy as Sam Ted, has found
- 40:02Speaker 1: a He's got a hit man ready to go whenever
- 40:05Speaker 1: the time is right.
- 40:07Speaker 2: He just needs somebody to He needs somebody to be like, no,
- 40:09Speaker 2: you're right, we should kill this fucker.
- 40:11Speaker 4: He just needs it. Yeah, someone's second. The emotion it was,
- 40:15Speaker 4: I hadn't seen Sam's face since he passed away, and
- 40:18Speaker 4: it was nice, but you know, strange, see Sam.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man, we've been we've been talking about that on
- 40:27Speaker 1: the podcast and and how obviously it's caused me to
- 40:31Speaker 1: look even closer at his work on the show and
- 40:34Speaker 1: just how incredibly funny he was. We recently just watched
- 40:37Speaker 1: an episode where he and Judy. I don't know if
- 40:39Speaker 1: you remember this one, Neil or he and Judy serenade
- 40:42Speaker 1: a patient and sing this beautiful harmony together and it
- 40:45Speaker 1: was so moving. I mean, obviously because he passed away,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but it just it just really it just really just
- 40:52Speaker 1: drove it home how how incredibly talented a guy he was.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that was his character added a nice came in handy.
- 41:02Speaker 4: You know, the so many shows that succeed, I think
- 41:06Speaker 4: build a world of supporting characters and that you can
- 41:11Speaker 4: go to or just like probably number one would be
- 41:13Speaker 4: The Simpsons. They have like a poster and there's two
- 41:15Speaker 4: hundred recognizable characters in that. Yeah. Of course, give me
- 41:20Speaker 4: thirty years and maybe I could do that too. With
- 41:21Speaker 4: a TV show, They've had a lot of time to
- 41:24Speaker 4: add characters. But Scrubbs did a good job of that.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know Bill, Bill always called him his assassins,
- 41:31Speaker 1: those people like you know Bob Condenen or Matt Winston
- 41:35Speaker 1: or or Phil Lewis who played hooge Rob Mashio who
- 41:41Speaker 1: became well Rob had a bigger part than those guys.
- 41:43Speaker 1: But I mean just mean, like you know, think about
- 41:46Speaker 1: Phil Lewis who came on and would do I don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: know how many episodes he did total, but.
- 41:50Speaker 4: He's directing now.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he's yeah, he's doing very well as a Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if if this happens to you, Donald,
- 41:57Speaker 1: but I'll be walking down the street and people say, hey,
- 41:59Speaker 1: love on the show. Who is crazy? And it's like
- 42:02Speaker 1: a little slogan about Phil Lewis's character, and he must
- 42:05Speaker 1: have done like a handful. I mean, that's the amount
- 42:07Speaker 1: of influence. Sorry, that's the amount of impact he had
- 42:10Speaker 1: on fans because they were just like they loved him
- 42:12Speaker 1: so much.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Well, remember it started off as Turner and Hooch, where
- 42:15Speaker 2: Tom Hanks's brother came on as Turner and Phil Lewis
- 42:19Speaker 2: played Hooch and they had this whole little adventure that
- 42:21Speaker 2: they went on together as Turner and Hooch in the
- 42:24Speaker 2: hospital they got. Yeah, they somehow got paired together. One
- 42:27Speaker 2: of them was a medical doc and one of them
- 42:29Speaker 2: was a surgeon, and they would tag team a bunch
- 42:31Speaker 2: of patients, right, and if.
- 42:33Speaker 1: He was a play elaborate way for the writers to
- 42:36Speaker 1: get a Turner and Hoo's shoke.
- 42:37Speaker 2: It, right, But they got Tom Hanks's brother to play
- 42:41Speaker 2: the Turner character, just like in the movie. Right, And
- 42:44Speaker 2: then somehow it turned into this whole story with Phil
- 42:49Speaker 2: coming back as this crazy ass doctor. But when it
- 42:53Speaker 2: originally happens, the two of them are you know, he's
- 42:55Speaker 2: not crazy or anything like that. Then it turned into
- 42:59Speaker 2: it turned into us joking around like, oh.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Who just crazy? Who just so crazy. And then by
- 43:04Speaker 3: the end of it is not that he is genuinely crazy.
- 43:10Speaker 1: People people love that, but no, no, no, not joking.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Who is fucking like dangerous?
- 43:16Speaker 1: Yeah? Like and then and then there was an episode
- 43:18Speaker 1: where you put like someone was it me? Or you
- 43:20Speaker 1: put bully on cubes in the shower head.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, which funny y'all put in the shower
- 43:27Speaker 2: and we're sitting there shoying.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Like he's like.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Him with him with the crack lighter that goes like
- 43:35Speaker 3: you know, six.
- 43:36Speaker 1: That's a very popular gift. I always use hooch with
- 43:39Speaker 1: like a six inch lighter flame.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:42Speaker 1: By the way, I remember a funny thing about Tom
- 43:45Speaker 1: Hanks's brother who was on the show. He did the
- 43:48Speaker 1: voice for one of the toy story things, not not
- 43:51Speaker 1: the not the movies, but like I don't know if
- 43:53Speaker 1: it was like a book or or something. Yeah, something
- 43:57Speaker 1: that Tom Hanks couldn't be bothered to do, and he
- 43:59Speaker 1: he had a similar voice, so so he would just
- 44:02Speaker 1: throw him, you know, I guess being generous to his brother,
- 44:05Speaker 1: like here, you do some of this stuff, and uh.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And I just remember learning for the first time that
- 44:09Speaker 1: then you know that he that he did some of
- 44:12Speaker 1: the non movie stuff.
- 44:14Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 44:14Speaker 1: A little trivia for you out there, just.
- 44:16Speaker 3: A little trivia.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Elliott is into some kinky stuff, right, I mean, I
- 44:19Speaker 1: just realized that this is a runner through the series.
- 44:22Speaker 1: This episode opens up with her talking to Scott Foley
- 44:24Speaker 1: about being wanting to be called a bad girl, and
- 44:28Speaker 1: they're gonna go shopping or stop by her house for
- 44:30Speaker 1: a schoolgirl outfit. And then I sill started thinking about
- 44:33Speaker 1: all these times in the in the series where Elliott's
- 44:35Speaker 1: got some some some some kink. She likes to role play.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah, she likes it, the dirty stuff. She like the
- 44:41Speaker 2: dirty talk. I think that's even one of my lines
- 44:44Speaker 2: in the show. Oh she likeed the dirty talk this episode. No,
- 44:49Speaker 2: not in this episode, but like later on in the series,
- 44:52Speaker 2: I know, I say something.
- 44:53Speaker 1: And then later on when she and Folly are making out,
- 44:56Speaker 1: she's like say intercourse, like she's got these weird kings.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's that's I I yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I remember there was one where I was like an
- 45:09Speaker 1: apple thief. I had to be. I was a part
- 45:11Speaker 1: of one of their I don't know if that was
- 45:13Speaker 1: a fantasy or if it was real, but there.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Was one where she climbed up on top of me
- 45:16Speaker 2: on on one of the on a surgical table.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a fantasy though, That was a fantasy.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course, do.
- 45:23Speaker 5: You remember it was she had a nurse thing on
- 45:27Speaker 5: like a Red Cross things and they had to post
- 45:30Speaker 5: they had to change it to green because no, you
- 45:34Speaker 5: don't use the Red crosses.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Oh that's funny.
- 45:38Speaker 3: That's a little bit of trivia.
- 45:39Speaker 1: You can't have sex on a surgical table with the
- 45:42Speaker 1: Red Cross up. We're not going to approve that.
- 45:45Speaker 2: But if you got the Green one, which is the
- 45:48Speaker 2: medical marijuana one, it's all good.
- 45:50Speaker 3: It's all good.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Now, it's funny. The Green Cross in the UK just
- 45:56Speaker 1: means pharmacy or normal pharmacy. And now that you live
- 46:00Speaker 1: in we live in California. For those of you who
- 46:01Speaker 1: don't have dispensaries, wherever you are, everywhere there's a medical dispensary,
- 46:06Speaker 1: recreational or or or medical, it's the Green Cross. So
- 46:10Speaker 1: it's funny. When I first moved and spent some time
- 46:12Speaker 1: in London, I was like, wow, they have a lot
- 46:14Speaker 1: of dispensary on every corner.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I laughed out loud at Alma, Right, bring hey, let's
- 46:21Speaker 2: make this quick. I got tickets to bring in a
- 46:23Speaker 2: noise bringing the funk, and I don't want to miss
- 46:25Speaker 2: the noise.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Loma.
- 46:33Speaker 4: She had a couple of good lines in that episode.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Yeah, she really.
- 46:36Speaker 3: She really does nail it every time. No, like you, you're.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Absolutely right about the cast of characters that came after
- 46:46Speaker 2: the Core seven.
- 46:47Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 46:48Speaker 2: It's like everyone always seemed to nail their jokes, you
- 46:52Speaker 2: know what I mean. And and and it's it's a
- 46:55Speaker 2: I don't know if Bill had a thing where it's like,
- 46:56Speaker 2: if you didn't nail the jokes, she didn't come back.
- 46:58Speaker 3: But that is kind of the thing.
- 47:01Speaker 1: If you're not funny, you're not coming back.
- 47:03Speaker 3: I would love to know the people that he had.
- 47:05Speaker 1: We don't want to We don't want him out.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Of Oh, I'm not gonna put on this is conversation
- 47:09Speaker 2: to have with him one at another time.
- 47:14Speaker 3: But I would know.
- 47:14Speaker 1: But I mean, you can know in your head there
- 47:16Speaker 1: were there were people that that could have easily what
- 47:19Speaker 1: happened with Neil is is the ultimate example. Neil Neil
- 47:22Speaker 1: was in the pilot and Bill was like, I'm making
- 47:23Speaker 1: this guy series regular. Whereas whereas there's people who did
- 47:27Speaker 1: one or two and he's like, all right, well it
- 47:29Speaker 1: was nice meeting you. What about you skipped something and
- 47:34Speaker 1: I wanted to talk to you about it. When when
- 47:35Speaker 1: Judy touches your belly and goes bink and who's she goes,
- 47:39Speaker 1: who's your new friend?
- 47:40Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't. I didn't want to that.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Oh you wanted to skip that?
- 47:44Speaker 3: I didn't want to skip it.
- 47:45Speaker 2: But you know, I when I when I was watching
- 47:47Speaker 2: the show, I was like, and this is where my
- 47:49Speaker 2: eating habits changed, you know what I mean?
- 47:51Speaker 1: Like, but but I have a question because I think
- 47:54Speaker 1: it's just a story point because when they cut to
- 47:56Speaker 1: you later running with Johnny C and you're in the gym,
- 47:58Speaker 1: you look fit as hell. So this didn't come out
- 48:01Speaker 1: of the writers being like, oh, Donald's gained a few
- 48:03Speaker 1: did it?
- 48:03Speaker 3: Listen?
- 48:04Speaker 2: Didn't look like you had listen back then. I was
- 48:08Speaker 2: one hundred and seventy five pounds when we started the show, right,
- 48:12Speaker 2: I got up to one hundred and ninety pounds, and
- 48:16Speaker 2: everybody I could feel the you know, where my clothes
- 48:20Speaker 2: didn't fit the same and.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Everything like that season why this happen? Yeah?
- 48:25Speaker 2: Around season one, you know, you get comfortable when you're
- 48:28Speaker 2: working and stuff like that, and I remember thinking, you know, wow,
- 48:32Speaker 2: I guess I look big on camera now. And you know,
- 48:36Speaker 2: I remember dieting and doing all of these things right,
- 48:39Speaker 2: and at one point, I, you know, I guess I
- 48:42Speaker 2: gained some weight. But this was this became an issue
- 48:47Speaker 2: for me as time went on, where I didn't think
- 48:49Speaker 2: about weight up until scrubbs like, I didn't give a
- 48:52Speaker 2: shit about how I looked or how I was perceived.
- 48:55Speaker 2: I didn't, you know, I just I ate what I
- 48:56Speaker 2: wanted to and you know, I worked out a shit ton.
- 49:00Speaker 2: But then all of a sudden it became okay, no,
- 49:02Speaker 2: you have to work to maintain this weight for the
- 49:05Speaker 2: show or it's gonna be in the script.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And people, wait, so did anyone ever say anything to
- 49:12Speaker 1: you like you need to lose weight?
- 49:14Speaker 4: No?
- 49:14Speaker 2: But I once heard and I'm gonna call Sarah out
- 49:16Speaker 2: on this, but I once heard Sarah. You know, while
- 49:19Speaker 2: we were filming talking to a bunch of people like yo,
- 49:22Speaker 2: somebody hit me up on a chat line and was like, yo,
- 49:25Speaker 2: is Donald Faison on a Krispy Kreme diet?
- 49:28Speaker 3: And I was like yo.
- 49:31Speaker 2: And I remember being like, yeah, I don't want a
- 49:33Speaker 2: Krispy Kreme diet, but it gives a shit, dude.
- 49:35Speaker 1: It's funny because the story of Turk in the show
- 49:39Speaker 1: is that doctors get so busy they don't have time
- 49:41Speaker 1: to exercise their stress eating, and it's kind of what
- 49:46Speaker 1: happened to you as an actor on the show. We
- 49:47Speaker 1: had crazy hours. There's a giant craft service table with donuts,
- 49:51Speaker 1: and you know.
- 49:53Speaker 2: And I love first of all, I love donuts. Let's
- 49:55Speaker 2: let's keep it one hundred, like, is that your favorite thing?
- 49:57Speaker 2: For my birthday, my wife bought me a donut machine.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Dude.
- 50:00Speaker 2: You think I'm fucking bullshitting. She went on Amazon and
- 50:03Speaker 2: got me a commercial grade donut making machine, dude.
- 50:07Speaker 1: And I found that they go down like the little just.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Like at Krispy Kreme. And I was like, you got
- 50:13Speaker 2: that shit and she was like yeah. I was like,
- 50:14Speaker 2: we got to look at the dimensions on how big
- 50:16Speaker 2: this thing is. This shit's like fifty six inches, like
- 50:19Speaker 2: it's like a six foot whatever six feet is. It's
- 50:22Speaker 2: like a six foot long track and it makes donut.
- 50:26Speaker 2: It doesn't make like one donut at a time, it
- 50:28Speaker 2: makes like seven, It makes a dozen donuts at a
- 50:31Speaker 2: fucking time. Dude, and I'm like, holy shit. I even
- 50:34Speaker 2: cent her. I was like, babe, is there a way
- 50:36Speaker 2: that we can return this? And she was like yeah,
- 50:38Speaker 2: but it has to get here first.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Now I know me. Once it gets here, I'm gonna
- 50:43Speaker 3: make donuts on thathing.
- 50:46Speaker 1: It hasn't come yet.
- 50:46Speaker 3: It hasn't come yet.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 50:48Speaker 2: The way it happened was because I'm going through Amazon.
- 50:51Speaker 2: And you know how once you once you buy something
- 50:53Speaker 2: on Amazon, it hits you with if you like this,
- 50:57Speaker 2: if you since you bought this, you know.
- 51:00Speaker 3: You might like this.
- 51:01Speaker 2: And I was like, hold up, why are all these
- 51:03Speaker 2: donut machines showing up?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Well, that's not gonna help you, diet, bro, if you
- 51:08Speaker 1: have a donut machine in your.
- 51:09Speaker 3: House, I've come up with it.
- 51:11Speaker 2: I've come up with an idea on what i want
- 51:13Speaker 2: to do with this with said donut machine, what I
- 51:15Speaker 2: am going to make Donnie's donuts. Okay, and I'm gonna
- 51:19Speaker 2: sell donuts to the masses. I'm gonna I'll sell about
- 51:24Speaker 2: you know, it makes like a dozen donuts at a time.
- 51:28Speaker 2: I'll sell I don't know, maybe five dozen donuts a day.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Okay. The out of your front door.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Not out of the front door.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I'll do it on sets or something like that where
- 51:38Speaker 2: i'll you know, where I'll you know, if you have
- 51:41Speaker 2: a and you're.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Not gonna have to charity, you're just gonna pocket that money, right,
- 51:44Speaker 1: this is your side.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Like, yeah, man, I gotta pay for that donut machine.
- 51:47Speaker 2: That shit costs a lot of money. I know my
- 51:50Speaker 2: wife bought it for me, but you know it comes
- 51:51Speaker 2: out of my motherfucking pocket.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Now, don't funny. I never realized until now. Is like
- 51:55Speaker 1: when you have a joint bank account with your wife
- 51:57Speaker 1: and or your partner whatever, and then give you like
- 52:00Speaker 1: a really expensive present, it is part of you, like U, Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 1: but what the fuck? Yeah?
- 52:09Speaker 2: I'm sure my wife thinks that way too, Like how
- 52:11Speaker 2: much The first thing she says every time I buy something?
- 52:14Speaker 2: How much did it costs? Don't worry about it? Don't
- 52:15Speaker 2: worry about you know, don't you worry about it? I looked,
- 52:19Speaker 2: I got I had the opportunity to see how much
- 52:21Speaker 2: the donut machine costs, because.
- 52:24Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the commercial doughnut machine in
- 52:26Speaker 1: your house.
- 52:27Speaker 3: When this is all said and done, I invite you
- 52:28Speaker 3: all over, come over. I'll make donuts for you.
- 52:30Speaker 1: All right, well, I didn't realize it was a sore
- 52:32Speaker 1: spot for you, and uh so, But anyway, it was
- 52:36Speaker 1: written in the script that Turk has gained some pounds.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Well it turns out that Turk gets diabetes too because
- 52:42Speaker 2: of his eating habits, and you know, me like yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 2: like uh yeah, later on Turk gets diabetes.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Literally my diabetes, my diabetes.
- 52:55Speaker 2: But I remember thinking, you know, your real life would
- 52:59Speaker 2: somehow wind it like I don't have diabetes, but your
- 53:01Speaker 2: real life would somehow wind its way up into the script,
- 53:03Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And I remember I started
- 53:06Speaker 2: I was losing my hair at a very young age,
- 53:08Speaker 2: and Bill wrote into the script the reason why Turk
- 53:11Speaker 2: doesn't grow his hair out is because it's patchy.
- 53:15Speaker 3: And I remember being like, oh, hold.
- 53:16Speaker 4: On, I just on your head.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Not so much in the front, not so much on
- 53:26Speaker 3: the front, but like on the sides.
- 53:27Speaker 1: He just has a big, big, receding hairline. But it
- 53:30Speaker 1: looks good anyway. I like the way it looks. But
- 53:33Speaker 1: you just made me think you could do a mohawk,
- 53:34Speaker 1: which would be cool.
- 53:36Speaker 2: It would be like really thin in the front and
- 53:38Speaker 2: then it would get really thick in the back though,
- 53:40Speaker 2: which was not really the dopest.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Mohawk on the plant.
- 53:43Speaker 2: But anyway, I remember being I remember him doing that
- 53:46Speaker 2: and being like, wait, hold on a second, Bill thinks
- 53:48Speaker 2: I can't grow hair, and I loved not legitim.
- 53:51Speaker 3: So there's like a there's.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Like six episodes where Turk has a full head of hair,
- 53:56Speaker 2: just because I was like, there's no way I'm gonna
- 53:58Speaker 2: let anybody think that I can't grow noith Like it
- 54:01Speaker 2: became personal at some points, and this was one of
- 54:03Speaker 2: those moments with the donut where it was like, when
- 54:05Speaker 2: I was watching, I was like in this that I
- 54:07Speaker 2: think this is where it all went down where I
- 54:09Speaker 2: started to realize, oh, I have to be in a
- 54:12Speaker 2: certain shape for things. I have to look a certain
- 54:15Speaker 2: way because before that I didn't care about it and
- 54:17Speaker 2: I was still working right.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Well, don't you feel that way now?
- 54:20Speaker 4: Though?
- 54:20Speaker 1: Still when you when you get jobs that like when
- 54:23Speaker 1: you did when you were on imergions for a year,
- 54:24Speaker 1: did you feel like that you wanted to be in
- 54:27Speaker 1: good shape for the camera.
- 54:29Speaker 2: No, I just wanted to look fresh in the face
- 54:31Speaker 2: for camera, Like these are things that I've like, I've
- 54:34Speaker 2: learned that my drinking habits and my marijuana habits have
- 54:37Speaker 2: made it so that, you know, if I don't take
- 54:41Speaker 2: time off from it, you can see it in my face,
- 54:43Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I look at pictures at
- 54:45Speaker 2: us when we were kids, and we and when we
- 54:47Speaker 2: would go to the parties and everything like that, and
- 54:49Speaker 2: we'd drink at the parties, and you could literally see
- 54:51Speaker 2: in our faces and pictures.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Yeah, those guys are fucking wasted.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 2: And as I've gotten older, that's lasted much longer than it.
- 55:01Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 55:02Speaker 2: If I drink on Tuesday, you know, I gotta wait
- 55:05Speaker 2: until like Friday, until it's all gone out of my
- 55:09Speaker 2: out of my face, so I have, you know, real
- 55:11Speaker 2: big bags under my eyes. And same thing with smoking.
- 55:13Speaker 2: So when I went and did Emergence, I cut out
- 55:16Speaker 2: all booze and alcohol for for for a long period
- 55:19Speaker 2: of time. I mean boos in marijuana for a long
- 55:22Speaker 2: period of time.
- 55:24Speaker 4: And I don't know what it is, egent.
- 55:26Speaker 3: No one I did, No one didn't, no, no one
- 55:29Speaker 3: watched it.
- 55:30Speaker 4: It didn't emerge, it did.
- 55:32Speaker 3: It didn't emerge the way the way I wanted to.
- 55:34Speaker 1: You know, Neil, both Donald and I, as you know,
- 55:37Speaker 1: because you helped me with some press which I really appreciate.
- 55:40Speaker 1: As you know, Donald and I both had ABC shows,
- 55:43Speaker 1: and unlike The Middle, they both completely bombed.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't make it.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Was it?
- 55:48Speaker 3: The Middle was an ABC show?
- 55:50Speaker 4: Right? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?
- 55:52Speaker 3: Was it? ABC Studios? Also Born and Brothers Warner Brothers,
- 55:55Speaker 3: Warner Brothers for ABC.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Wow.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:58Speaker 2: We were ABC for NBC or originally and NBC was like, no,
- 56:01Speaker 2: We're going to pass on it, and ABC was like, oh,
- 56:03Speaker 2: well we'll pick it up and we went a full season.
- 56:07Speaker 1: And are you still sad about it? How are you
- 56:11Speaker 1: feeling about it?
- 56:12Speaker 3: I'm fine. I you know, I how long?
- 56:14Speaker 1: How long? Like how long do you pout about something
- 56:16Speaker 1: like that? Well, like I have bad news, I think
- 56:18Speaker 1: I pout for like a few days and I'm like,
- 56:20Speaker 1: all right, fuge it.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't pout that long about this one.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I loved the show, and I loved the cast members,
- 56:26Speaker 2: and I loved working with everyone.
- 56:29Speaker 3: But it was in Jersey and.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Not that I have something not that I have something
- 56:32Speaker 2: wrong with Jersey, but coming out of a pandemic and
- 56:36Speaker 2: going back to work in New Jersey and leaving.
- 56:39Speaker 1: On behalf of the Garden State. I think the point
- 56:41Speaker 1: is that you didn't want to be separated from your family.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Wasn't that like let me if you, if you let
- 56:46Speaker 2: me finish coming out of a pandemic and going back
- 56:49Speaker 2: to Jersey, which I had a great time in Jersey
- 56:52Speaker 2: and I love Jersey and leaving my kids back in
- 56:57Speaker 2: Los Angeles again, it would fuck them up, you know.
- 56:59Speaker 3: What I mean?
- 57:01Speaker 4: I understand that I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to uh
- 57:08Speaker 4: do a show in another state. Maybe the time will come,
- 57:12Speaker 4: but I think I don't.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I agree, Neil, I I wouldn't. I would do a
- 57:18Speaker 1: film obviously anywhere, but I wouldn't sign on. I don't think,
- 57:22Speaker 1: and I mean I'll mark mark my words. I'm sure
- 57:25Speaker 1: there'll be an occasion where I might change my mind,
- 57:26Speaker 1: but right now I think to commit long term to something,
- 57:30Speaker 1: it would be New York or LA where where I'm
- 57:33Speaker 1: based and I have you know, and I'm I'm like Donald,
- 57:36Speaker 1: I don't have kids yet, but I'm still in a
- 57:39Speaker 1: place where I don't. I don't want to go move
- 57:41Speaker 1: to to Stad where I always choose DoD as my
- 57:48Speaker 1: random city. It's it's a I believe it's a ski
- 57:50Speaker 1: town in Switzerland.
- 57:52Speaker 2: It's straight out of coming a trading place places where
- 57:56Speaker 2: Dan Ackroyd's at the pawn shop trying to sell the
- 57:59Speaker 2: watch and the dude's like fifty bucks. He's like fifty bucks. No,
- 58:02Speaker 2: this is a such and such. It tells time in
- 58:05Speaker 2: New York, London, La and Stad.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I think it's like the Aspen of the Alps. It's
- 58:11Speaker 1: like a fancy ski town, which, by by the way,
- 58:13Speaker 1: it was a horrible example for my story because I
- 58:16Speaker 1: should have picked a place no one wants to live.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Maybe I would like to live in the Aspen of
- 58:19Speaker 1: the Alps. Are going to take a quick break and
- 58:21Speaker 1: then Neil, we take a guest with the show. Who's
- 58:23Speaker 1: gonna have an awesome question for one of us? I'll
- 58:25Speaker 1: bet we watch how with that?
- 58:29Speaker 4: And I like that theme. By the way, it's very churchy.
- 58:40Speaker 9: Yeah, yes, yes, we speaking of churchie. Dude, do you
- 58:45Speaker 9: remember the church episode where we did it in the
- 58:47Speaker 9: hospital cafeteria and you had the freaking uh straw hat?
- 58:51Speaker 3: What was it? What kind of hat is that where
- 58:53Speaker 3: it's like a straw.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Hat and really along with.
- 58:58Speaker 1: It, Yeah, I think you had, Neil. I think you
- 59:01Speaker 1: had a tambourine.
- 59:02Speaker 9: As I recall that could be Gody Samuel Center.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Is in the house.
- 59:09Speaker 1: That's Samuel Center. Joelle. Do you have any special introduction
- 59:12Speaker 1: you want to make up Samuel Center or should we
- 59:13Speaker 1: just start talking to Samuel Center.
- 59:15Speaker 6: Just get right on into it.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Hello, Samuel Wall.
- 59:19Speaker 7: Beautiful people, this is crazy.
- 59:22Speaker 4: It is crazy.
- 59:23Speaker 2: You are a professional dude. You came with the mic
- 59:25Speaker 2: popping thing.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Donald needs one of those because he spits everywhere.
- 59:28Speaker 3: So I have a spit problem.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Dan, can you get Samuel has for those of
- 59:32Speaker 1: you listening, has one of those very fancy circle things
- 59:35Speaker 1: you put in front of a mic, and and Donald
- 59:37Speaker 1: needs one of those dances.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I have one. I have one.
- 59:39Speaker 1: No, well, we need it. We need it now.
- 59:42Speaker 4: It's probably called the spit guard or yes, spitshield.
- 59:45Speaker 1: You know when I first saw the spit guard was
- 59:47Speaker 1: in the We Are the World music video, and that's
- 59:51Speaker 1: where I also sold that you were supposed to hold
- 59:53Speaker 1: your headphones like this over one ear so you can hear, yeah,
- 59:56Speaker 1: to hear the harmonies when.
- 59:57Speaker 3: You're down and out, and.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: If you care, if you think you look better without
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: headphones on your head, I think that's how you hold
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: the headphones.
- 1:00:07Speaker 7: Right y, Mike.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Mike didn't want to mess up the freaking right, Neil.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: All the people that knew they were shooting a video
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: were like, you know what, man, But if you just
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: believe we should do a Donald, we should do an
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: episode of this where we recreate the video and we
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: each take turns playing different characters in the song.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, man, I fucking did that as a kid.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: I used to do that as a kid. I could
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: do it as an adults.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I used to love that. I would watch that over
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: and over and over again. Anyway, Sorry, Samuel, where are
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you calling?
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Samuel Center?
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Okay, it's Oprah. Where are you calling from, Samuel?
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: I'm calling from a small town called Cloak in Minnesota.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Cloque, Minnesota.
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: We got it the far North.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Welcome. You have Neil Flynn with us today, and that's
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Donald doing his best Oprah. And and do you have
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a question for us anything? Ask us anything?
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: Ask you anything? What happens when we die?
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: Wow, No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, don't you.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Thanks for coming on, everybody. Can you play the music
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: that drives it off?
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: No?
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Go ahead, you've got a real question.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: Go ahead, I do I have a real question for you.
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: First of all, thank you for all of the years
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: of entertainment. This is such a thrill to meet you guys. No,
- 1:01:27Speaker 7: it's incredible. Thank you. So in terms of entertainment, you
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: guys have been there for You've been in the business
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: for so long and just seeing how things change, and
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: it feels like people's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter.
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: And mister Flynn, uh, such an improv comedy genius. And
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: Zach you're a writer, and mister Faison, you just kind
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: of embody what cool is to me. And you've been
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: doing I mean since Clueless.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: Man.
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: My sister was begging to Clueless. And I can't tell
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: you how much I look up to you and have
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: tried to emulate some of the style that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: You have accepted and received accept.
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: But as days have changed in people's attention spans have
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: gotten shorter. How do you feel yourselves adapting as entertainers,
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: writers and improv comedy people. Do you feel like you've
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: had to shift the way you approach things or do
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: you feel like you've kept it the same to just
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: stay true to your art or how does that feel
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: on your end?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: That's a good question. Know, they just came out with
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: this service that as I understand, it isn't doing as
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: well as anyone hoped. Called Quibi, which is basically like
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: ten minute episodes you can watch on your phone, which
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I would have thought would do well because people are
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: commuting and they're sitting in a doctor's office, and for
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: all I know it will do well one day. But
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: that I was thinking of of that service when you
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: said that. The biggest thing I noticed is that whenever
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I do anything, if it's a TV show, if it's
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: a film, if it's a music video, if it's a documentary,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: everyone writes me on Instagram when second be on Netflix.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: It's as though it's like the only thing most people
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: watch anymore. So that's always on my mind. When I'm
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: going out and I'm pitching a new idea, I'm always
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: kind of like, well, I I you know, Netflix has
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: so much content, but in my mind, I'm thinking, like,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I kind of want this to be on Netflix because
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: that's what everybody seems to watch these days. Whenever you know,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I'll I like when we were talking briefly about the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: ABC show I did alex Inca that it didn't didn't
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: last or work that well. But I remember when I
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: was promoting it. I was just doing anything I could
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: to promote it, anything, anything, anything, and then everyone was like,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: sounds great, Zach, when's it on Netflix? And I'm like, well,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: it's not. It's it's on ABC. It's it's not, it's
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: not gonna be on Netflix. But I don't know. That's
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: what I just got thinking about that. What about you guys.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: I feel like it's, well, you know, while we're in
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: this downtime, I'm trying to you know, I got a
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: couple of other voices, trying to develop something, you know,
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: to do when when we can start to work again. Yeah,
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: And it's really I've never done that before. I've never
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: helped create a show, but I feel like to start
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: a new show now, I don't think attention spans are
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: any order. Necessarily, people are watching stuff. It's just not
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: the same stuff they used to watch. And there's more
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: TV than there ever was. And I feel like, if
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: you're going to start something from the ground up, you
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: can't just do family, living room multi cam, you know,
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: it feels like that's gone. There has to be something
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: a hook to the show. Yeah, and whether it's you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I don't know what really shows they're doing with a
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: period piece or you know, real people like I don't know,
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: the Kennedy's or something, or the Queens and Kings or
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: something fantastical or outer space, or it just feels like
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: you can't do that. The time has passed through the
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: Johnson family.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Although you just gave me a genius idea to do
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: a traditional like living room sitcom, but it's Kings and
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Queen's in a castle.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: I would do it, except they live on like the
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: set of the Cosby show, the Kings and Queen, but
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: they just have anion.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: But they're they're royals, and they've been transported from a
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: from another era, but and they don't really know why
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: they're there. But they live in this this you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: suburban house.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: That could work, or that could have worked in nineteen
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: eighty six.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: You know, come on, man, if ALF could.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: Work, I was just gonna say ALF. Yeah.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: We talked about ALF extensively in one of these episodes,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: because I remember as a kid, a child, seeing a
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: commercial for ALF and being like that's so stupid, No
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: one's gonna watch that, and then cut to me like
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: riveted every week like watching ALF?
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: What do you call that? Being kind of funny? I
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: think it was a kind of a funny show.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: No, it was genius and Max Wright, who is hilarious, Yeah,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: played the father.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: What are you doing? Alf?
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: And he notoriously hated being on a puppet show. He
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: hated every second of it. Oh w he hated the puppet.
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: Fuck that puppet.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I would have woke off this set. Fuck you out,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I'm going to trailer Alf, Fuck you.
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: This is a true story. Alf the puppet was actually
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: my sleep paralysis demon from like age three to ten.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: Well, I didn't see sleep paralysis demon. What's it about?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I have all their music? What is what is a
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: sleep paralysis demon? For those of us who don't know?
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: All right, So, sleep paralysis is like this condition where
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: you're you know, dead asleep and you and if I'm
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: sure you know, if you don't know, there's chemicals in
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: your body that were released to paralyze you while you're
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: sleeping so that you don't get up and run while
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: you're dreaming. Right, there's things there's a phenomenon that can
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: happen where you achieve consciousness, but you're still paralyzed by
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: those things that are keeping you sleeping. And I happen
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: to get that and have since I was a really
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: little kid. And typically, for whatever reason, whatever you want
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: to say about the human condition or whatever, when people
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: are stuck at us, they go to a very dark
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: space and usually they see something really ugly or terrifying.
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: And this, I mean it could be anything, it can
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: be a literal. So so people call them their sleep
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: paralysis demons. And Alf was literally mine. There was a
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: commercial on TV where Alf pressed his face against the glass.
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: It is probably from like the premiere episode. And when
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: I was eight years old. I think specifically, anytime I
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: would get in the sleep paralysis state, there would be
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: Alf at the edge of my I be.
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, it's a frightening thing.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: And was saying anything to you? Or was he just
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: he was just him up against the glass at the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: foot of your bed.
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: Yeah, it was just him against the glass.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I don't know, man, Do you still have a sleep
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: paralysis a sleep paralysis demon?
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: And is it still Alf?
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: Is it still Alf? No?
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: Now, it's just uh Now, it's just I was gonna
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: say something, but I won't.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: No.
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: Now it's it's actually a guy in a suit.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Okay, wow, wow, that's scary.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Well that's very scary. I I that's traumatic. You know, Alf,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I didn't have that much problems with Alf. We brought
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: it up. We brought it up on the show before.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I didn't know. I don't know if this was in
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: your sleep paralysis nightmare. But Alf has a tail. We learned,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: uh Neil, because I had the stuffed animal for Alf
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: and I was a child, and what I would do
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: is I would take the alf tail and I would
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: tuck it through its legs and close his legs to
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: give him a giant erect alf penis.
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: Mister Braff, You've changed my life in many ways, and
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: now I want to thank you because now my sleep
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: paralysis Alf is going to have a big old tail penis.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: Thank you for that.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Now, Sam, I'm gonna feel so bad if it goes
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: back from man and suit to Alf with an alpha erection.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I apologize, but maybe you'll be able to laugh at him,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: just point and laugh at him. Maybe he'll dissipate.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I'm not sure I understood the question. I thought you
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: were asking, like how to how.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: He was saying now that in his opinion and an
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: opinion of others, things are getting shorter and shorter for
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: short attention spans. Do you think there's any way that
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you have adapted the way you perform or evolved things
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: that you're doing for a shorter attention span, whether it's
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: anything you do, maybe in your animated videos. You know,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I noticed something I'm gonna I'm gonna answer for Donald
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and Donald you pipe in. You used to post some
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: of your stop motion animation longer clips. Now you're posting
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: very short clips. Do you think that's the human attention span?
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Because at one point I realized that, thank you very much, Zach.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: At one point I realized people were not paying attention
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: past a minute, you know what I mean? Fuck that,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: not paying attention past thirty seconds. And so now when
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: I do when I post animation clips, they're like four
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: seconds or five seconds, because you know, if anything, they'll
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: watch it a couple of times, three or four times
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: before they move on to the next thing to make
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: sure they're just to pick up visually what it was
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: that they saw, you know what I mean. So like
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: with animation, if it doesn't look right, people don't necessarily
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: pay attention to it.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: And also I have a side question. If you're doing animation,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: is it better for you to focus on a short
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: do a short little segment really really really well, rather
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: than do work on a full minute that has mistakes
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: in it.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's better to do it.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: In my opinion, if you can do a full minute
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: of perfect animation, you're great.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: But no movie is like that either though, you know
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: There are very few movies that have scenes that are
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: a wonder for one minute, you know what I mean.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: And if they do do that, it's a special shot.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: And so with animation you try to shoot it just
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: like you would shoot any other project that you put
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: on film, whether it be movie or television. You want
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: to make it quick and keep the cuts coming so
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: that everybody. The faster the pace, the better it is
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: with animation. The slower the slower the pace of the story,
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: the easy it is for people to tune out.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Sometimes I send you clips of animation that I think
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: is cool and you don't even reply, and it hurts
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: my feelings.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: I'm sorry because I've seen them already.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: But you could say yes, I've seen this.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: I could say yes, I've seen this, thank you.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: It's like when my mom sends me my mom send
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: me a picture of like a bird, and you know, okay,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: but I can I still take the time to be
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: like pretty bird mom. You know you could, you might,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: you know, I might say, hey, exact cool animation, saw
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: this one.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: You know what, from here on out, because I now
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: know that you're very.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Sensitive when it comes to I am sensitive.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: I will from here on out I will respond with,
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: oh man, I've seen that already.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: But thank you.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: All right, Samuel, do another question.
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: I got all kinds of questions, but we'll keep it.
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: We'll keep it like, uh, just knowing that mister Flynn's there,
- 1:11:48Speaker 7: which is so cool. I just have to say, I
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: seriously think you're one of the funniest people that has
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: ever existed. Especially I told him that too. I say,
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: I agree, it's just totally true. I'm just you know,
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: just freeballing here. Let's just say that, yeah, freeballing always,
- 1:12:03Speaker 7: which always, you.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Don't have to tell us what you're under our.
- 1:12:06Speaker 7: Situation, sam I said the wrong word under you know.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this is why Alph won't leave the foot of
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: your bed. He wants to see those balls.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: Oh god, oh Samuel.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: All right, Samuel, go ahead, free ball away Janitor spinoff
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: of Scrubs.
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: Let's just say that they brought it back. Let's just
- 1:12:29Speaker 7: say they got mister Braff and mister Faison uh signed
- 1:12:33Speaker 7: on his co stars and at least the pilot episode
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: where would you want to explore the janitor's character down?
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: What would you want the episode episode? What kind of
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: stuff would you like to be in?
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: It? Outer space? That's where it's said, we're marooned in
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: outer space.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: So its short of like a Gilligan's Island type island
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: on a planet ship?
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Are you on a shipkneel or or on a planet?
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: Uh a ship? And then then like towards the end
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: of the first season, it lands.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Sort of like sort of like Josie and the pussy Cats,
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: the janitor and the and the doctors.
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: Yes, it's very much like Josie and the pussy Cats. Yeah,
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: I was hoping you wouldn't notice that I stole up.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: So the janitor is also in a band.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Yeah, we're all musicians.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Neil, you joke, but I would watch this show.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I mean, neurn't necessarily steal the character from Scrubs, but
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: you could be. Your character is a janitor on a
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: on a spaceship, which is a character you never see
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: who's cleaning who's cleaning these spaceships?
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, that's funny.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Yes, you watched so much sci fi. Have you ever
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: seen anyone cleaning up inside any of those ships?
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: No?
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Never, not even the Millennium Falcon, which is the dirtiest
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: spaceship in the galaxy.
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: No one does any maintenance.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: Never ever.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: Maybe Jordie did a little maintenance.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: Well, but Jordy was like he was an engineer though. Man,
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: he was like, oh, that's.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Right, working like just like like your character would often be,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: you be doing something. We joke about, Neil that we
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: sometimes we're like, you know what, the janitor was actually
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: a good janitor for he was he really worked a lot.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: He was always doing ship and uh and you always
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: always were actually working.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: I would have said the opposite. There was oftentimes I
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: would say, should I be doing something? I'm constantly just
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: walking around a corner with nothing in my hands. You know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: what are you doing?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Wasn't there a time when when when someone a director
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: said to mop in the admissions and you're like, there's
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: a carpet.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: I don't remember that.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Anyway, I'm very interested, Neil in developing this year a
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: chanitor on a spaceship series.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, because if it's a it's about three guys
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: that they're marooned out in space. Okay, well what did
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: they do beforehand? Were they scientists or.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: They were on a mission? Donald and I were were.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: The well two guys were on a mission and one
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: guy was cleaning the ship for them.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, Donald, Donald, that's what it was. Yeah,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Donald and I are on a mission. And part of
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: this mission. Because there's been a lot of complaints about
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: cleanliness and spaceships, they sent along a member of the
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: janitorial stuff to keep the ship clean while they're on
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: their mission.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: And then once it, once it crashes or whatever, the
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: status you know, the totem pole is scrambled. Yes, right, yeah,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: Now the scientists, you know.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Scared shitless, and the janitor is like, I can handle
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: this because follow my lead.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, the janitor janitor becomes the captain.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Yes, and maybe maybe Donald and I are injured, so
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: we can't really do much, but the janitor takes over.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Well, we don't have to be injured. We just have
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: to be like kind of like.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Not really good with other things other than piloting in science.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: No survival skills whatsoever, whatsoever.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: That's good Neil. So Neil's character is like, not only
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: was he working for a custodial staff, but he was
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: an amazing survivalist. And Donald and I don't know anything
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: about how to survival on this random planet.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Our journey could have been just we were supposed to
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: go to the International Space Station, right, and that's it.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: And somehow we got knocked off course by some crazy
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: ass gamma wave or some type of microwave or something
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: like that, and it sends us into a wormhole and
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: we wind up in this fucking galaxy where we don't
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: know shit about anything, right, but and don't know how
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: to survive other than if we were to be, you know,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: on an International space station.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: And Neil Flynn janitor, Hey, you.
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: Know what, I just thought of something. We didn't star Trek.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: They went to different planets and stuff, right, Yes, they
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: never wore helmets, pursuits.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Those ever they had oxygen and those all those planets
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: had oxygen.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: They were all supporting planets.
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: Yeah right, Apparently imagine they made that decision early on.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Well, I imagine, like you said, with the headphones not
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: looking good, I'm sure that what's his name, Captain Kirk
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: was like, you're not putting the helen on this.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Yea.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: It was like no way to.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Chattner. Yeah, so that's the idea. Joel, will you produce?
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Joel will produce. Thank you, We're off to the races.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Samuel sank you for calling in, my friend.
- 1:17:33Speaker 7: Oh, it's such a pleasure to meet everybody. Thank you
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: very much.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Thank you awesome and good luck and listen, don't let
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: those monsters keep you in bed. Be safe.
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: Now, I'm going to show my balls and laugh at him.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: That's okay, And that's a lesson for everybody out there.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: If you're ever afraid, show them your balls and just
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: laugh at them.
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: Well, I'll see you in jail.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Maybe not. Donald's like, well, I'm never mind.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: By man, take care.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, I have so many questions.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: Back to space Janitor, I love it.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Neil's like furiously taking notes about that.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Yes I am. I wonder if part of it should
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: be a game show, or maybe the whole thing a
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: game show. Just for some reason, we're sticking with this,
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: these these elements that are a Janitor lost in space. Okay,
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: Carter family. What is the capital of shod.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: For the stop.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: And believe it or not, Neil starts with a G.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: There's a silent G. Yeah, Joel check is G s
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: T A A D if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: God, that reminds me of DJIBOUTI. I think it's pronounced
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: this episode with an N.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I think a D starts with you're right, you're right? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: But I remember when we used to do the show.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: You used to do crossword puzzles.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: Did I? Yeah, I'm going through phases.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, the New York Times probably yeah, and you would do.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: I remember.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: I never I suck at spelling, and I also suck
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: at crossword puzzles. But would you ever get to would
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: you ever get to the Sunday one? Have you ever
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like I hear the Sunday
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: ones are the real hard ones. Monday it gets easy
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: and then yeah, that just goes it gets more difficult.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: And ask if you could finish a Sunday is what
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: you're asking.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: I'm asking.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: I'm asking how deep into the week would you get?
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Because I know there were times where you would you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: I remember asking you one you'd be like, oh this
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: is from like a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: Hmm, oh really, well that's you know, it depends on
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: how yeah hard your work sometimes you just pick it
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: up for ten minutes and go on about your day.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: But I haven't done one in a long time. But yes,
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: I used to completely most of the time the same day,
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: within an hour or two.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I was always jealous of people that could.
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: I was. I think, at least what I know to
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: be true, is it actually Saturday is the hardest day.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Sunday's a big puzzle. Sunday's like the super sized puzzle.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: It's not necessarily harder.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: So it builds the Saturday, and then Sunday's a bigger one,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: and Monday's the easiest. I feel like I have maybe
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: done a Monday.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: I've never I remember somebody saying that to me and
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: being like, oh, okay, let me get the one on Monday.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I just don't know.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: And I realized you had to you had well, you
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: had to read the paper too.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: That was the ons.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I didn't know a lot of trivia. I mean, I
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: could do it if it was like you know, no,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you three letters star of a sitcom alien puppet.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: This is a nice, nice callback.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. It means a lot to me.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: We barely talked about the episode, but we should talk about
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: the Saint Elsewhere cast that was visiting in this. Did
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: you guys, either one of you watch Saint Elsewhere back
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: in the day?
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: I did so in Denzel.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: Yeah else Was it Denzil's first role.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: I don't know if it was his first role, but
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: I know he was on Saint else him and Howie Mandel.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: Wasn't the theme song.
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: Like that.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: And that that something like that?
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that sounds very familiar.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: I visited the set once my parents watched it. I
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: believe it was Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth Paltrow's father, who was
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: a very big showrunner then, who produced it with others.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: And my dad knew someone. We were visiting La and
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: my dad knew someone. We got onto the set. It
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: was like the first, like real big TV set. Interestingly,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking about this out loud. The first real set
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: I ever visited was was a hospital set which was
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: saying Elsewhere, And I think it was beyond my It
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: was too old for me as a child, but I
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: remember my parents really loving it. Juelle just told me
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: that Denzel made his feature film debut in the comedy
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: A carbon Copy, and and then he was That was
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: eighty one and then he was cast in the So
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: it's the second part probably, and he was on he
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: was on Sathing else Where eighty two to eighty eight.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: That'd be cool to go back and watch a young Denzel.
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: On that show.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Well he's been.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: The crazy thing is he's barely on the show, like
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: he was one of the Yeah, you know, they didn't
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: use him a lot on the show, and which was
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: which turned out to be great for him because he
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: would be able to go and do movies instead of
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: you know what I mean. They were like, well, you're
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: not on the show this week, and he'd be like, oh, okay,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: well there's this dude doing this project.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: You know, I'm going to sign on and do it.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: Then.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: So, like I remember Cry Freedom coming out.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: I remember that movie, you know what I mean, him
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: and that's.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: An amazing movie. If you haven't seen it, Cry Freedom.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Cry Freedom. Him and Fish called Wander No it was
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Kevin Klein. Yeah, and so I remember they did. I
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: remember that came out, and I remember being like, holy cow,
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: the dude from and this is when my parents were
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: like informing me, no, this guy is an amazing actor.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: He's done.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: He did theater in New York you know what I mean,
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: he's now blowing up as an actor. You should really
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: check out if you because you know, I wanted to
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: be an actor at an early age. They were like
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: Denzel Washington and they showed me Cry Freedom and I
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: remember being like, oh my god.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: This is the most amazing movie ever.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that was incredible.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: And uh and I was very young when I came out.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: And then you know, from that Mississippi Massala and you know,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: The Mighty Quinn and a bunch of other movies.
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: But yeah, then Glory eventually of course.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Glory, Yeah, Glory.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Glory was one of the first times as a child
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: that I that I knew who he was. And I've
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: just never seen a performance better than that performance than Glory.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: By the time Glory came out, I was well versed
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: in Denzel Washington.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: William go ahead, I was.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Just gonna say that for me. William Daniels is the
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: voice of Kit. Yeah, and when when William Daniels started
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: speaking in this episode, I had forgotten. I went, oh
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: my god, it's kid. Yeah, well he was the voice
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: of wat Oh yeah, you never watched night Rider. He's
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: a little bit older than us, so that Donald and
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I were right in the pocket for a team and
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: night Rider and.
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: Did you ever watch a team?
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: No? Oh? Ver?
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: Well, you know, I went to Universal Students and I
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: was a kid.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: We went to Universal Studios the tour and they had
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: a night Rider car and you could get in it
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: and the car would talk to you, and it was
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: amazing in hindsight as an adult they obviously had a
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: hidden camera and a guy sign, but as a child
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: that was like, holy shit, it's kit And I just
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: remember thinking was the coolest. And he would, you know,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: he would say things to try and show off that
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: he could see you. It'd be like I like you,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I like your blue shirt, and and I'd be like,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: oh my god, cat. But they didn't have it. Wasn't
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: it wasn't to William Daniels sitting in some room somewhere.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: Probably not.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: No, I don't think they paid his rate.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: Did he go on to do Boy Meets World after
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: all of that, after Night Rider and everything? Wasn't he
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: like the next door neighbor William Daniels, Yeah.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: Yes, but he I don't know about Boy Meets the World,
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: but certainly it would have been after Sante elsewhere wasn't
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: he I think I'm mixing him up with somebody else.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: But wasn't he in the graduate? Oh?
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know. That's a good question.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: He might Dustin Hoffman's dad, the.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: One who says plastics? Is he the one who says plastics?
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: No, but that's in their yard.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: That's right. That's a neighbor, right, or a friend.
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I can picture him saying Benjamin Benjamin. And if
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: it's not him, it's an actor.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: That Joel's checking reminds me of each other. And then
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: at Atlee and also Stephen First, who was famously an
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: animal House. Yeah, have you seen Animal House? Donald?
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: I have seen that. Yes, I have seen animal.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: I saw Animal House the night before I left for college.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: College was college like animals?
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Live up to it?
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: Not? Well, you know, it wasn't quite the same. But
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: I did join a fraternity, probably influenced by that somewhat.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: It seemed like they were having fun.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: Yeah, did you toga?
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: I don't think we ever did a toga thing. That
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: would be a little too on the nose.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Dude, what's up with the zombie movie? All of a sudden,
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: in the middle of this episode, out of nowhere it
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: turned into a zombie movie.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: I know it was Mark Buckland directing. I remember, and
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I remember it was kind of like a wide angle
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: lens and trying to do all sort of a zombie film.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I thought that was weird too. Did you notice it? Sorry,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I'm going I'm jumping around, but it's seven oh three.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you noticed this, but the score
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden has like record DJ scratching in it.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Did you notice that?
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: I didn't notice there's like a score queue, like all
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: of a sudden, it's like no fun.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Prince of bel Air. Oh wait, so Joel is saying
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: that Joel, are you saying that he was in the
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: graduate then he was? Indeed?
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: Sorry, yes he was in the graduate Neil, You're.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Right, okay, all right, there you go, Daniels.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: So in this episode, you know, JD's all word that
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: he has gotten sick from uh. And I remember when
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: I was a kid, I just felt invincible, you know
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: And you know, even with even.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: With things that I shouldn't have been, even with things
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: that I shouldn't have been doing where I should have
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: been using protection, I felt like invincible, like you know,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: motorcycles whatever, whatever it was, where I should have, you know,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: wore a helmet. I didn't, you know what I mean?
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: And because of that, I got a lot of kids.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: But the thing is, are you that way?
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Are using a cryptic analogy because your daughter is on
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: your lap? Yes, I see, I followed it.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: Now, Yeah you didn't.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: You didn't wear a helmet when you were on your motorcycle.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: Absolutely right.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: But the fear of disease or hurting myself in any
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: way never came across my mind.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: You didn't think about things like that.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: Now I have nothing but fear when it comes to
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: that stuff, you know what I mean. And it's it's
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: it's I noticed that I've because of the situation that
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: we're in, and you know, because of isolation and and
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: quarantine and everything like that.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: I treat people a lot differently because of that.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: And Ted the lawyer does that to j D at
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: one point where he's like he's trying to play it
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: off where he is, you know, things will be fine,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: and then he's like, hey, don't you want your pin back?
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: JD's like, don't you want your pin back? And the
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: look and Ted's like, you know, keep.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: It, yeah, and that's kind of how I am now,
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like when when the we
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: get groceries delivered, now they knock on the door, or
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: I'll wait a minute before I go to the door,
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: just to make sure that the air around the door
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: isn't you know, Like if we were in a room
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: right now and Neil you would have coughed like that,
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: I'd been like you, okay, man, I.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Was coughing last night and I was like, oh my god,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: my girlfriend must totally think I'm sick. I don't know
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: if you guys are conscious of that. You're like, now
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: you cough in public and you're like, no, no, I'm fine, No, no.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: No, no, I'm fine.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: I'm fine.
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: And and that's you know, this episode.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: You know everybody needs first of all, everybody needs to
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: first of all chill out, you know what I mean.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: I know that this is a very dangerous and scary
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: time for us and everything like that, but you're you're
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: always jumping to the worst case scenario, you know what
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: I mean. You you have a you have a you know,
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: a feeling in your foot, you jump online and the
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: next thing you know, you've got gird. You know, you're
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: telling everybody, I've got I've got a gout, you know
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: what I.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Mean, your digestify on your toes.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: You're fucked, Yeah, you're fucked right, But you know what
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: I mean, It's like, I don't know.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: If everyone's like that down You and I might be
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: a neurotic and looking everything up and thinking we've got
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: something bad, whereas other people might be like, no, I'm fine.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: I don't know that many people that are that think
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: that way, you know what I mean.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I think there's a fear. We talked about this earlier.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: There's a fear of going to the hospital and finding
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: out that something's wrong. So I think a lot of
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: people when something does come up there like, ah, you
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: know what, I'm not going to find out about it.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: If it's really bad, it'll kick my ass later on
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: and then I'll have to go to the hospital and
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: they'll fix it thin. But you know, for Jay, for
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: me personally nowadays, with this episode did for me when
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: watching it was like it made me realize I have
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: a real phobia when it comes to germs now, and
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: I have a real phobia when it comes to other
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: people's germs now. And it has a lot to do
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: with what we're going through. But I didn't have that
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: shit when I was a kid, I wasn't afraid of
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: things like this, you know what I mean. There were
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: people that got stuck with me when we were doing
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: the show. A couple of people that accidentally got stuck
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: with needles, fucking around with the props, you know what
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I mean, thinking oh.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: This was fake.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: That would freaked me out.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: I would have lost my ship. Nowadays, I'd be like,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I'm dying. I know I'm dead. Sarah was the only
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: person that I knew. Sarah Schalk was the only person
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: that I knew that was like that was like if
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: if she had if she had the chills, it was
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: it was life for I'm dying.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: I know I'm dying, you know what I mean.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: It must be a real thing. I mean, well, how
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: terrifying for for real medical personnel who who get stuck.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: I'm sure on occasion if the person had something serious,
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: how how scary that would be.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: We're walking around the house. Don't get sick, and don't
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: break your leg, don't get hurt, you know what I mean.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: The kids are playing around like, well, everybody, calm down.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: We don't want to go to the hospital. Right now,
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: now's not the time to go to the hospital.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: Well really, there's you know, it's never a good time
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: to go to the hospital. But uh yeah, I thought
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: about that, like if you had a appendix.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Right was exact ass cheek, Yeah.
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: I can have my eyes shake removed, But it was
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: an elective surgery, turns out, so I couldn't have that.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: But yeah, you don't want anything to go wrong, You're well,
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: we'll see, you know, in the next week or so
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: if any of this people crowding around each other, uh something.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Well I actually have said I not to be Debbie
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Downer towards the end of the episode, but that the
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: things are spiking back up in LA and uhh, and
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: no one's talking about it because there's plenty else going
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: on in the news, as we all know. But I
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: read I read some articles like why is no one
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: talking about the new COVID spike in Los Angeles?
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: I think there's spikes in a lot of places, but
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: New York is going down so much that it looks
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: like a flat line for the country.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: You mean, like the national line. Yeah, yes, yes, well yeah,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: I fear I fear that that everyone's kind of over it,
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: you know, people are like, all right, we did fuck it.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: We got to get out of the house now. And
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: and that might be fine if you live in a
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: place where this isn't as prevalent, but in la it
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: does appear to be climbing back up.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: And the only reason why we're talking about this right now,
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: we know we try to get you away from as listeners,
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: and we try to keep this as a distraction, a
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: distracted as much as a distraction as possible.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: But this is in the story. Yes, you know what
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: I mean, and so that's why we.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: That's why, guys, it's in. It's in the episode, and
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: so you know it's about Scott Foley being left I mean,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: listen and Jowell please weigh in as the only female
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: on the panel. But Scott Folly, Scott Foley being left
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: alone by Sarah standing there with his roses, it just
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: felt a little like just so mean. I mean, with Elliott,
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: she found love and or not love necessarily, but she
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: really liked this guy. He's as bad as charming as
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: a human being could be. He looks like Scott Foley.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: She's like, she leaves him, she leaves him lot m
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: for it looks exactly like Scott Fowlly, she leaves him
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: at the door. I mean, I don't know, what are
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: your thoughts on that?
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I think okay. So I didn't get into movies
- 1:34:07Speaker 6: from the seventies until like I was in college. This
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: is sort of my first experience watching a woman be like, listen,
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: I like you, but this career I've invested in is
- 1:34:16Speaker 6: everything to me that we have to pause because it
- 1:34:19Speaker 6: wasn't even like a solid breakup. She's like, right now,
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: I can't make this work. And it like, as you know, once,
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: I'm like twelve, and I was like, you could just
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: leave a dude for work, It's brilliant. I started a
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: White Boys at that age, and I was like, oh,
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: so tedious, and so for her to just be like,
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: I'm gonna work on my stuff, I was like, this
- 1:34:36Speaker 6: is brilliant. Oh my god, I like this scene.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Oh I okay, there you go, there's the answer. I
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: was like, I mean, I was impressed by the character
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: making that choice because the writers really went out of
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: their way to make sure there was absolutely nothing wrong
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: with this guy. I mean, he was as dreamy as
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: it could be. But she was getting distracted from her work,
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: and she was like look, I really am excited about,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: but this is what I've worked my whole life for.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: So I gotta push you away.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Which he's not gone though, is he.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: No, he does come back.
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: But I don't know that she was distracted.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: I think it was how the hospital reacted to her
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: and the Walk of Shame in the beginning of the episode.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: I think that was more of a reason for her
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: to break up with. You know, Elliott is very worried
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: about what everyone thinks about her. That's what the character,
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: that's how the character is, you know. You know, she
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: even says in the beginning of ninety nine percent of
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: my life is me trying to impress my dad, you
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: know what I mean. And so I think when the
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: Walk of Shame thing happened and everyone made fun of her,
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: I think that's you know, it sent her down the
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: rabbit hole and she spiraled, and that's why.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: But he was also it wasn't just that Donald she
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: you know, Kelso's like grilling her and she doesn't know
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: the answers to questions. It rounds where she always does,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: and then she starts getting in her head. At one
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: point she's like, she can't think of something, and I
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: like I turned around. I'm like, come on, you know
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: that she's tired, maybe because she was up all night
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: playing schoolgirl.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: Right, But I think that stems from once again, you know,
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: Kelso seeing her at the at the scrubs machine and
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: giving her shit for not having her scrubs her scrubs
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: that day, you know what I mean. I think, I
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: don't know, I could be I don't know.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: It's probably it's probably both a combination of both. But anyway,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: we all know, we all know the spoiler alert that
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Scott Fuley comes back. He ends up being an animal.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: Is he a marine biologist or an animal trainer at
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: SeaWorld something like that.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: But what a great scene that was though, too man
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: where they break up because it looks like it's going.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: One way, you know, and.
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: The miss there's a great misdirection, right, you know, she
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: breaks she kind of you see her breaking up with
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: him earlier in the script where he comes to visit
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: her and she's like, and he's doing all the right things,
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: and she's getting pissed off that he's doing all the
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: right things.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: And then she comes out at the end and it.
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: Seems like she's gotten over all the all of the
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: bs that she was holding on to because of her
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: walker shame situation, and then in the middle of it,
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: she discovers, wait a second, it's not just that I
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: am distracted because of how perfect you are. And now's
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: not the time for me to be distracted. Now's the
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: time for me to be the best I possibly can be,
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: so that in a couple of years, in a few years,
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: I can find another I can find a guy just
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: like you and do it all over again, and this
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: time for Keeps and I feel and the way they
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: both play the scene is perfect because it really does
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: feel like Sean is hit by a mac truck because
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: he doesn't see it coming, you know what I mean.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: He sees it as Okay, she had a bad day.
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: I'm going to bring her flowers and cheer her up. Yeah,
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: And now she's walking back into the hospital and I'm
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: standing here with a dozen roses.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: I felt bad for him. I'm such a sucker for
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: the writers. Really how to get me with you know,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: love that cannot be I'm like, Oh, this poor guy,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: he's like crazy about this girl. He's standing here with
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: roses and he's like, she's goes, he goes. I'm gonna
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: be I'm gonna wait here because I know you're gonna
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: change your mind in two minutes. And she's like, I
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: hope so, and then she doesn't.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: He just and then he trashes the roses.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Well do you think he trashes the rose or he
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: leaves them and people just walk all over him. I
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: couldn't just figure that out.
- 1:38:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I just thought of that when I first saw
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: the roses. I thought, yeah, come on, that's a little
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: bit of a hissy fit.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: Like he was jumping up and down on it.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: Yes, yes, but the only reason I know that he
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: doesn't disappear well it, come to think of it. Oh no,
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: The last episode I guess of season one is somebody's wedding?
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: Is it Turk and Carlin?
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: No, we don't get married until season three, I think.
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: Well, then.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: At the end of season.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: Two when we were shooting that episode.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: He was there in the last episode of the scenes
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: your wedding.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: Yes, was that? Was he?
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: So many fays you.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Know, there's so many fans right now that know the
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: show better than us. They're like, you idiots, he's an
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: episode on this one, but we don't know.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah, let's ask let's a wiki guy.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: All right, So nil. We have this guy's name is Trevor.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Trevor Wiki. We have a question. How many more episodes
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: is Scott Foley in? And was he? Did he attend
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: Donald and Carla's wedding? Hey, guys, Scott fully appears in
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: twelve episodes over seasons one, three, and eight, including Turk
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: and Carla's wedding reception in the season three finale. All right,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: we got to wrap this up. Guys, we've been neil.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry to keep you so long. We've been going
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: an hour and forty five six minutes.
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I hope you had a good time just shooting the
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: ship with us. We miss you.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: We miss you big time.
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: We'd love to have you back too, if you ever
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: want to come back and hang out with us.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Yes, me more than.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I will because this was fun. But I thought
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: we would talk about me more on that kind of board.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Oh, he checked out until we started talking about the
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: night terrors. Guy alfhit the foot of his bed against
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: the glass. By the way, Donald, remember we were speaking
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: about that rap song up, sir, mix a lot. Put
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: him on the glass. Put him Yeah, his nightmare is
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Alf putting him on the glass.
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that would do it for me too.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Now I have the visual of Alf putting his breasts
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: on on on.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Glass, or his tail penis or his tail.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: Penis on that note. Thank you everybody for listening. We
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: really appreciate it. Follow Donald and I on Instagram, especially
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: Donald because he doesn't have as many followers as I.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: He's very upset about it.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: I am very upset about it. We even talked about
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: it on the podcast. It hasn't moved. It hasn't moved.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: Don't yell at people. Donald, It's not a wind to
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: end the podcast.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: I just don't. I think it's disrespectful. I think it's disrespectful.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Okay, calm down.
- 1:40:51Speaker 7: I was clueless, dammit.

- 1:41:29Speaker 2: back on and we'll talk about more things I wanted
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: to get into.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: I wanted to get into The Fugitive. I wanted to
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: save it.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: Let's save it. Maybe he has a story about Harrison
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Ford being difficult to save it. All right, thanks for listening.
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: Work twice with Harrison Ford, though he's worked twice with
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: Harrison Ford The Crystal Skull and and and The Fugitive.
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: Yeah, for one day each time?
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: Right, Well, once sing you had way more lines than
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: just Kimbo you get?
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Is that all it was? Kimball?
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it was more in the script, not not much more,
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: but it was I was wondering which take they would
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: use when I saw the film. We wonder when I'm saying, now,
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: back up, come toward me, let me see your hands,
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: you know all that stuff. And I see the movie
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: and it's Kimball Bank straight.
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: Well, Neil, you're in You're in what I consider a classic.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: So that's just cool to me.
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: And it is a really good movie.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: It's a great I recently rewatched it and it's so good.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Holds up, Oh, it holds up. It's so good. All right,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Donald lead us in the song you got Mad last
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: time when I did.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: It, I want Nail to do it, Noil, Can you
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: just go five, six, seven, eight, real quick?
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: Next, stories about show. We made about a bunch of
- 1:42:50Speaker 8: the stories. Yea, we watch Avis and
